Starting point is 00:03:35 Stockton Mortgage, NMLS 8259 Equal Housing Lender, NMLS Consumer Access.org. Welcome to Hour 2 of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones. Welcome back. Hour number two, Kentucky Sports Radio, 859-2802287. Let's do a quick look ahead at the week ahead. We got Kentucky plays tomorrow. Ryan, the game against Western tomorrow is actually at 6.5. 6.30 for Kentucky and Western. It's a little bit earlier tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:04:09 Yeah, so our pregame show starts at 4. It's kind of a rare 4 o'clock pregame show for us for basketball. But 6.30 is the game. So just keep that in mind if you're coming that that's actually a little bit earlier of a game. We're going to be doing shows tomorrow and Wednesday. We'll obviously do pre and post game Tuesday. Then Thursday and Friday we'll run best up, but we will be back for pregame Friday night. They play Georgia State. That game, I think, Drew, is that game at eight? I feel like that game's a little later. No, it's at seven.
Starting point is 00:04:40 It's at seven on Friday night. And then the Louisville game is at noon on Saturday. So three games, Drew, over the next six days for Kentucky basketball. Also, the women will play, I think the women play Tuesday night as well, the Kentucky women. And Wednesday. They play Wednesday as well? Yeah, two days in a row. Okay, so they play Tuesday and Wednesday, the women's team.
Starting point is 00:05:08 So a lot of, it's very busy for both teams. Definitely, and tomorrow, let's not forget BBN Invitational. I feel like a lot of the fan keeps forgetting. But tomorrow, Western and Kentucky, the winner is your BBN invitational winner. Tidal on the line. A lot on the line on this in-state rivalry. That's true. It's a B.
Starting point is 00:05:25 See, I didn't think about that, Shane, and the BBN Invitational, it's on the line. Winter take off. Yeah, is there a trophy? Like, do we get to see this? trophy? I feel like if you're going to be playing an invitational. The trophy is in your heart. We're not going to run the ladders out there and cut the nets down after we beat? I feel like the trophy, like this, it's more of a trophy, like, symbolic.
Starting point is 00:05:47 It's a trophy of your overall happiness. Kind of like it's not a real tournament. It's just a symbolic tournament. Well, no, it's not a symbolic tournament. It's a real tournament. It's a symbolic trophy. Let's go to the Jackson State game Friday night first. a second, guys. Kentucky wins by 50. My three biggest takeaways. Number one, the crowd. You want to know how
Starting point is 00:06:11 people, how excited people are about Mark Pope and UK basketball? Go look at that crowd Friday night. Ryan, I think that's as good a crowd as we've had since COVID for a non-power conference, like, you know, non-conference game at this time of year. Yeah, it's been, the crowds have been great. These non-conference games in the past have usually not been near to sellout. and we're seeing it here at the restaurant. Huge crowds here at the restaurant before the game, and it translates. Everybody goes down to rub.
Starting point is 00:06:39 It's a hot ticket, man. People are wanting to go to the games and watch his team play. I would assume the Western game will be the same way, and then the Friday night game of this week. People home for Thanksgiving. I think they'll want to come. It's clear to me, Drew, that Pope has re-energized the sort of attending games part of the fan base.
Starting point is 00:06:58 That had really become an issue, especially before conference play, had started and it seems like that's gotten so much better with this new coaching hire. Yeah, I've been at all of this last one, so I wasn't a part of the energy there, but we had like a watch party in Texas, and there were people trying to get into this bar. We didn't really promote it. And just the fun in there, you know, we're counting down, we're having the race for 100 just about every game.
Starting point is 00:07:24 Well, they scored 100 points in three out of the five games. I mean, they're just throwing in threes. There's the moment where Perry and Noah had the back-to-back. And we're in Austin, Texas, and it felt like we were. in Rupp Arena. We were having so much fun. It was actually what the UK basketball game was the highlight of my entire trip just because we had so many fans crammed into this one place, watching it together, and you go around talking, getting thoughts of everyone, what they think about the team. He's just saying all that. He got to meet a back street. He got to hang out with Kevin Richardson.
Starting point is 00:07:50 That's why. That's why. He was hanging out. You were hanging out with the celebrities. Just go ahead and name drop. You can do it. Okay, Kevin Richardson was there. Josh Hopkins was there with you. Yeah, it was neat. I was just going to say hi to Kevin Richardson, and we talked football with him for like an hour and a half. Like you would never think he's a backstreet boy. He's just like, why is Wilcox not getting the ball? This is that, you know, he's having all the same conversations
Starting point is 00:08:13 of the people that sit in the top row of Krogerfield are having. Hour and a half, you guys could have written another Backstreet Boy song in that time. I mean, creepy guys, you're practically the six member. Now, Kevin is a big time football fan. Legit fan. I went to introduce him to Roush and Luckett, and he's like, What do you mean? I know Rouch and Luckett.
Starting point is 00:08:32 I was listening to 11 personnel on my way here. Wow, listening to 11 personnel. You got to love that. Well, uh, very neat. All right. All right. So then you got the game. Uh,
Starting point is 00:08:44 I also thought during the game, they continue to put up massive points. But for me, Shannon, the story's the guy throwing the shoe. Oh, yeah. All right.
Starting point is 00:08:52 So he, I, I just want to know what his thought process was. His shoe comes off. He runs down the course. and he just fires it at Brandon Garrison. And somehow, again, not a foul or a technical. I would think you shouldn't be able to throw a shoe during a game.
Starting point is 00:09:13 But I guess nowadays, shoe throwing is legal during college basketball. Yeah, he didn't throw it to the side. Just straight up spiked it at him, you know, like as hard as he could. I think he was trying to knock the ball out of his hands, don't you? Possibly. I didn't know you could just start taking off parts of your wardrobe on a fast break can try to hit somebody with it and it's okay. It made National, it made Sports Center that night, the shoe throwing.
Starting point is 00:09:39 Ryan, did you think they should call it technical for throwing a shoe? Absolutely. You can't throw foreign objects unless you're with Shannon in the wrestling ring, man. I was about saying, sounds like a wrestling guy, foreign objects. That's what it is. That's exactly. That's what we call them in wrestling. Next thing you're going to know, you're going to throw salt in Brandon Garrison's eye or something and get away with it.
Starting point is 00:09:57 I would like to see if you did that. Like Great Muda, blow mist in his eyes, Shannon or something like that. The green mist. Where did that come from? Yeah, blow the green mist. So a big win, win by 50. Any reason, Drew, we don't win 15 to 20 tomorrow against Western? I don't think so.
Starting point is 00:10:19 I mean, through these fair, well, throughout the Duke game, that was close. But these games are just routing people. Like I said, we're getting close to 100, if not hitting it every single game. Western's got a couple losses already. They beat Jackson State and Lipscomb, but two teams we've already played. Other than that, they got losses to Grand Canyon and one other than that's not a very big team. So, I mean, they've lost two of five already, and I think they're in for a long night when they get to Rupp Arena tomorrow. And then Duke won at Arizona pretty handily.
Starting point is 00:10:48 They were up 10 to 15, pretty much the entire game won on Arizona's home court. you know, every time Duke wins, Ryan, it makes us look better. So every victory they get helps our resume, you know, that when I watched, I watched some of that Duke Arizona game, you know, Duke kind of dominated them. And if they continue to win, we continue to look. I mean, they play Kansas tomorrow night. I mean, I'm going to be pulling for Duke, aren't you? I think you have to.
Starting point is 00:11:20 Like you said, just for the resume building part of it. to beat Arizona on their home floor, and if they can back that up with a win for Kansas, that just makes our win over Duke look that much better. So absolutely, I think you have to. It's, you know, Shannon, we might be really good. Like, is there possible that we're really good?
Starting point is 00:11:37 It's hard. Like, I think we're just sort of conditioned because the players don't look like the players we've had the last few years. But why aren't we just, I mean, explain to me why we're not really good? good. What is the argument for us not being really good? I don't think there is one right now. I mean, how do you argue against what you've seen so far? Over 100 points every time they play at home, the three-point shots that they've knocked down so far this year. Coby-Braya shooting still, what, 75% from behind the line? Yeah, Kobe Braya went five for eight from three and his
Starting point is 00:12:12 percentage went down for the year. We had eight different guys hit a three-pointer the other night. They hit 17, I think, as a team, and eight different guys hit one. That's amazing. Yeah, I think we're really good. I mean, I think we're hesitant to say it because we don't want to get our hopes up. But folks, I think we are actually really good. And I don't know, I don't know how you can't be really, really excited about it. Now, something to not necessarily being excited about. The story about Aaron Bradshaw, Drew.
Starting point is 00:12:43 So Aaron Bradshaw has been, has been, he's not around the Ohio State team. They're not letting him do practices or anything. And they say that he, they're not allowed to talk about it due to federal privacy laws, which I think is an interesting phrase to use. There's a ton of speculation out there as to what it could be. I'm not going to get into it, but there's at least, I mean, I think when you hear federal when it comes to this stuff, I mean, just for sort of understanding purposes, If it was an NCAA issue, they would say it.
Starting point is 00:13:21 If it was a crime of like, you know, being charged with something that happened on campus or something like that, that's a state issue. There aren't a lot of issues that are federal. And when you say federal privacy issues, it can really, to me, only be one of two things. One is a health-related issue because schools have to be careful with that. but usually players would be fine having the school talk about their health, and usually they would use the word health as part of that. So I kind of don't think it's a health issue. And then the other federal issue would be one that's all over sports right now,
Starting point is 00:14:02 which is having to do with, you know, the idea of federal jurisdiction over various potential crimes. I don't know that that's what this is, but I will say to you, Drew, when I see that with Aaron Bradshaw, it makes me a little bit concerned. What about you? Definitely. Just kind of came out of nowhere. Didn't expect this at all. You know, he didn't play a whole lot last year, but I was a big fan of that kid because he was coming back from an injury. He seemed to have the right attitude.
Starting point is 00:14:32 He seemed to be a good teammate on the bench. I was even kind of pulling for him at Ohio State, even though they're on the schedule, and then to be caught up in a federal investigation. It seems like whatever he has gotten into, he is in some deep trouble. I mean, you can, on my flight yesterday, I searched his name on Twitter. That was a whole hour in itself. There's just so many people commenting on it and speculating on it. But this seems like a big deal. Jeff Goodman said on his little broadcast that he would have more reporting on it in the next day or two.
Starting point is 00:15:01 So I think we're going to hear a lot more. I mean, I think the natural inclination, Ryan, when you hear this, is to go, okay, we hate it for Aaron, but then also does any of this go back to Kentucky? I mean, I think that's what, if you're a Kentucky fan, Ryan, I think that's what everybody's natural reaction is going to be. That's what mine was, because when you, like you said, you bring up the word federal investigation into it. I mean, obviously, it's not an eligibility issue, and it's not an academic issue.
Starting point is 00:15:28 When it didn't talk about wording it like that. And it's not even like an assault or robbery or, you know, whatever, because those are state issues. Federal, I mean, let's be honest. federal is just a hand when it comes to sports in federal it's only it can only be a handful of things and one of them i think everybody can guess and i that's what worries me at this point right yeah i think we we all justifiably are a little worried about is does it go back to his days when he was here could it could it eventually yeah because he's only played i mean drew how many games
Starting point is 00:15:57 has even played at ohio state three maybe something like that they took him out for the last two he was starting though right before he got in trouble right he was pretty big plan. I can tell you that if you go back and you look at a lot of the conversations on this stuff go to games from last season. And that's what concerns me, but we'll wait and see. But with Aaron Bradshaw, kid that I'm with Drew, always seemed like a nice kid, you know, we'll have to wait and see.
Starting point is 00:16:30 But it is a story to watch. And it does look like when we play them in New York at the end of December, there's a good chance we will not be playing against him. Should we offer up our Oakland and Texas A&M games as punishments just in case? But you all can vacate our entire postseason last year. We'll go ahead and put that on the table now. I'm worried there's more than vacating on the stake. Who's up next?
Starting point is 00:16:53 Mark Anthony. Mark Anthony. Go ahead. Good morning, Matthew Randrew, Shannon. Hey, Matthew, I'm a little concerned with the vibe thing you're talking about. It seems to be a locker room vibe. And that's the first since Stoop's been here. And I don't like the sound of that.
Starting point is 00:17:08 But nonetheless, all that aside, I want Cutter Bowley starting on Saturday. I won't even play the whole game. I think Cutter just throws a better ball. And ever since Brock has been here, I believe he's felt the pressure of being here, knowing that he was brought here to win. And I think it's affected him. And, you know, bless his heart, but I think Cutter's the guy Saturday. Win Saturday.
Starting point is 00:17:31 And we've done a whole lot to make everybody feel back. better. So we'll see what happens. And as far as Mark Cope, if you at this point in the season, haven't seen what we've seen, are still hanging on to that John Calibary thing, you have lost your damn mind. I mean, Mark Polk, the man is a coach, Matt, and he's got a plan, and he understands the assignment, obviously. So that's all I got, fellas. I agree with all that. I totally agree with you on all of those points. Clayton and Kroom, it is coming time for the holidays. A lot of you are going to be figuring out your Christmas gifts that you're buying people this week.

Starting point is 00:22:27 And we have been joined at the Hipsons High School. Absolutely. Now a redacted amount of years later. We're still joined at the hip. Just a little bit bigger hips, wider. This is a podcast. We're recording it as we tailgate our youth soccer games in the back of my Honda Odyssey. With all the snacks and drink.
Starting point is 00:22:44 Sidebar. Why did you get hard seltzer instead of beer? Oh, they had a bogo. Well, then you got it. Do you want a white collar or something here? Just hit it. Oh, what are y'all doing? Microphones?
Starting point is 00:22:52 Are you making a rap album? Oh, I would. Come on. Could you move? I would buy it. Cut through the defense like a. Hot knife through sponge cake. That sounds delicious.
Starting point is 00:23:04 Oh, you're lucky. I'm not a drug addict. You're lucky I'm not an alcoholic. You are. I'm lucky I'm not a killer. I love this team, and I'm really trying to be a figure in their lives that they can rely on. Oh. Listen to soccer moms on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:23:28 Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio 859-28028. 87. Matt Jones, Ryan Lemon, and Drew the Franklin. What? What? Drew the Franklin? Well, and Shannon, the dude. Everybody's, you know, Drew got a present this morning, by the way, Matt. What did he get? A nice guy named Matt from Georgetown brought me a waterproof car seat for our road trip.
Starting point is 00:23:55 So if me or the car have any water issues, it won't be such the ordeal that it was last time we went across the country. I like that. You need that. Very nice of Matt from Georgetown. I'm excited to have it. You definitely need that. That's good. I do want to get mad at Ryan, Shannon, and Billy.
Starting point is 00:24:10 KSR Parley, only one of us got our game right. That was me. All three of you missed your game. Would you like to apologize to people? Because once again, Drew and I are seemingly the only ones that can get our picks right in this game. I'll tell you what, I'll apologize to you as soon as you guys apologize to me because a couple of weeks ago, I was the only one that hit it and nobody said a word about that. So we're focused on this week.
Starting point is 00:24:33 We're focused on performance this week. And USC over UCLA was our only successful game. I would like to note, Drew, you weren't here. I would like to know what Billy wanted to pick is his game. He wanted to pick Army Money Line over Notre Day. Okay, as a 14-point underdog, and that game was never close at any moment the whole thing. did he give like a reason that's a horrible pick it was it was one of the worst picks i wouldn't even let him pick it i literally said to him no you're not allowed to do that because i thought
Starting point is 00:25:10 noturday beating army they had to cover 14 i thought that was the easiest bet of the year shannon doesn't know this but i bet his christmas present on it if we had lost he wouldn't have gotten my christmas present on it now you get two yeah yeah double i mean that was that was easy So I don't know why he, why he ended up picking that. There's some breaking news, Shannon. Okay, here we go. Running on, nah. Macy's, the store Macy's, is delaying their earnings for one quarter
Starting point is 00:25:41 because they found an employee hit up to $154 million from the company that's prompted in investigation and is delaying the company's quarterly earnings. $154 million. You think after you had a couple million missing, you would have started looking into it then to let it get to $150 million? That's insane. How would you even go about doing that? $154 million, I mean, like, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:26:15 Macy's is big, but $154 million. That's more than a rounding error, said it over the course of three years was able to hide $154 million. that's insane i mean that's not just a little bit that's missing from the books how did like ryan said not even if 25 million how does that not have a red flag like our numbers are down just a little bit 154 million is crazy and i don't think that's just working at one store out in oxmore mall uh shannon that must have been somebody like high up in the company right i would think so yeah i mean if you're in charge of that kind of money you would have to be high up in the company unbelievable also uh rest in peace
Starting point is 00:26:54 Ryan to Chuck Woolery. That's right. Chuck Woolery. He of love connection and Scrabble. And he was one of the, he was the original host, by the way, of Will of Fortune. I didn't know that. I learned that he I learned that yesterday, went back and watched it. I did not know that he was the host of Will of Fortune before Pat Sejack from Ashland, Kentucky. Yep. Boyd County's own Chuck Woolery. He passed away, Ryan, at 83 years old. One of those guys that never seemed to age. You'd seem, you know, looked the same today as he did 20 years ago. He was doing some of these shows Love Connection, especially. But yeah, Easter Kentucky guy, very proud of his Eastern Kentucky roots.
Starting point is 00:27:34 Yeah, he finished his career seemingly like a lot of people do by doing a right-wing podcast. That's how a lot of the folks end up sort of transitioning. But in his heyday, in his heyday, Ryan, when he was on Love Connection, he was probably one of the more known people in America, don't you think? I think so, you know. You think back when we were growing up watching TV, there was certain talk game show host that you remember. And he absolutely seemed to be on the best ones all the time. You used to say, Shannon, like, that's your dream is to host a game show, right?
Starting point is 00:28:07 Oh, yeah, dream job, man. The price is right, especially. But, I mean, Will of Fortune, how hard would that be? Well, did you read, like, how did he end up getting replaced on that? It feels like it was a contract dispute. He wanted more money. They didn't want to pay it. So then he said, all right, I'm going somewhere else.
Starting point is 00:28:23 And they brought him Pat Sejack. Wow. He had to have regretted that, right? I would think so. For all of his game shows, Will Fortune was the one that was the most successful. Yeah. I mean, that's the easiest game show hosting job, except for deal or no deal. You just go open the case.
Starting point is 00:28:40 I mean, other than that, that's the easiest job to do. Number five. Yeah, yeah. Actually, the easiest job are the women that hold the cases. Well, they got to hold those. Some of them have got to hold that case for an entire half hour. those cases are probably heavy. You got to think about that.
Starting point is 00:28:55 It's a lot of labor. You do have to think. That's a very good point. Who's up next? Robert. Robert. Go ahead, Robert. Hey, guys.
Starting point is 00:29:03 I'm over 50, so I'll probably agree with the previous caller that appreciates what Stoops did, but to me this pass is not sustainable. So I want to promote what I think is the ideal solution, even though it's probably not attainable, is that Mitch convinces Jimmy Sexton or whoever Stutz representative is. to take a longer-term contract, say at UK is the defensive coordinator, and we go down and get summer all at Tulane. That's never going to happen. That's never going to happen.
Starting point is 00:29:34 I mean, let's be honest. I mean, let's be honest. Would you do that? Would you take somebody that you sort of mentored and that worked under you, and then you would allow them to be the boss and you would take a demotion? No, but if I'm stooped to me, between the pony up, the leaving for A&M, and the barking at the moon about the way the world is now, this isn't, he doesn't want to do this.
Starting point is 00:30:03 And I sympathize that he went through a really, you know, an important family issue this year. I don't think people are properly putting that in perspective. That may also affect his mentality, but he is not, he has taken this as far as you can go, and it's time for someone else to take it. I don't disagree. I mean, I don't necessarily say you're wrong. I'm just saying there's not going to be a world, and I appreciate the call, where he's going to come and work, stay at Kentucky, and work for the person that he used to have working under him.
Starting point is 00:30:36 I mean, that's just not. It's not going to happen. That would be like me saying, Billy, come host a show and I'll produce it. Like, I'm just not going to do that, even if it would be the right thing. He's just not going to do that. I mean, that just people just, they don't do things like that. We'll be right back. T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney.
Starting point is 00:30:54 EJ, he'll make them pay. Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio. 859-280-22. 87. We will be at the bar tomorrow for those of you that are in town for Thanksgiving.
Starting point is 00:31:10 And the pregame show will start at 4 o'clock. Today is also the start rind of the Maui Invitational. I think the game to watch tonight is, let's see it, 9 o'clock on ESPNU, number four, Auburn against number five Iowa State. Those are two of the top five teams in the country going to be playing tonight. Yukon is in this tournament. North Carolina is in this tournament. But actually, I don't know how this ended up a first round game.
Starting point is 00:31:37 Number four, Auburn, against number five, Iowa State to open the tournament up. Yeah, good chance to check out Auburn, who's going to be really, really good this year. See how far long they are right now. So I love this. That's why I wish Kentucky would play in these tournaments. It gives us something to do on a holiday weekend. hopefully we can get back to that. Yeah, there's a lot of tournaments going on.
Starting point is 00:31:56 There were a couple of, I saw your Vanderbilt Commodores for reasons unknown to me, Shannon, were on ESPN last night playing against Drake. Well, you know, they put the Charleston Classic Finals and the Big Time programs on ESPN. That's what they do. Everybody else has got to be on the computer. But why would anyone want to watch Charleston and Drake? It wasn't, it was the Charleston Classic. It was Vanderbent.
Starting point is 00:32:19 I know, but Vandy Drake. What is it? Why is that game? on ESPN. The championship game. What else you're going to put on Sunday night on ESPN? There's nothing else going on. Anything else in the world?
Starting point is 00:32:29 They had their first loss of the season last night. Drew, I don't know if you, did you see the story about the middle school in Cincinnati or in Tennessee and the University of Cincinnati? Did you see it? I caught the headline, but there's probably some details I don't have. So tell me more about it. There's a high school. There's a middle school in Tennessee called Cheatham High School, which I like the name.
Starting point is 00:32:50 We just cheat. That's what we do. So at this middle school, I guess their nickname are the Bearcats, and they had the logo that was the exact same logo as Cincinnati. Now, Cincinnati, I guess, owns the trademark for the logo. So they basically sent a letter to the middle school saying, you got to get rid of the logo. Now, let me take a step back here for a second. People have to understand the law of trademarks. In order to keep a trademark, you have to defend.
Starting point is 00:33:22 it, Drew. Do you understand what I'm saying? Meaning like if you find out other people are using your logo, you have to either tell them to stop or enter into an agreement with them. Because if you don't, then people will say you're not defending your trademark. What's the point of having a trademarked if you're not taken care of it? Yes, exactly. That's what the court say. So what a lot of schools will do is if they see a high school is using their logo, which happens all the time, they'll write him a letter and say, listen, we own this logo, but if you'll give us a dollar, we'll let you use it. Does that make sense? Because that way you can say, we defended it and we entered into an agreement for them to use it.
Starting point is 00:34:04 Cincinnati did not take that tact. As a matter of fact, they said, no, we're not going to do it for a dollar. You just have to stop using it, period. Now, to me, Drew, that's kind of lame of Cincinnati, right? Like, that's kind of lame. It's a middle school in Tennessee. Why not just let them use the stupid logo? Yeah, especially a middle school.
Starting point is 00:34:27 Come on. It's a middle school in Cincinnati, but they say it. All right, so then I guess the middle school tries to change the logo, but Cincinnati doesn't think they change it enough. So then they wrote them and said not only, Can you not, do you have to change the logo, you are now no longer able to be the bear cats. Now, to me, at that point, Ryan, they're being real jerks, right? Like, it's one thing to say, don't use our logo.
Starting point is 00:34:57 It's another thing to say you can't even be the Bearcats, little Tennessee middle school. Yeah, why are you picking on the Cheatham Bearcats? Go pick on somebody on your own size. I mean, it's a middle school shit. Middle school. And I give them a break. It's a middle school. Nobody's going to confuse Cincinnati Bearcats for the middle school.
Starting point is 00:35:14 So they say that to them. So now since this little middle school is like, well, what do we do now? I mean, we don't have the money to fight this with Cincinnati. We probably could keep the name Bearcats. There are hundreds of schools with the name Bearcats. Fine, we'll do something else. So they send out a letter to their families and go, hey, we're going to try to think of a new name because Cincinnati's being mean.
Starting point is 00:35:38 If you have suggestions, let us know. All right, so I see the letter. Somebody sends it to me. I post it. Now, here's where the story gets great, Drew. Xavier, you know, Xavier hates Cincinnati. Xavier decides, you know what, let's come and play the good guy. Yep.
Starting point is 00:35:55 Xavier comes in and says, you know what? You can use musketeers if you want. And if you do, we'll sell your t-shirts on our site and we'll give you the money so that you can change your logo and pay for all the things you need to do. and will give you free support to help you make the transition. Drew, how awesome is that? And what a needle in the eye of the Cincinnati Bearcats. Yeah, that is such great rovering by Xavier, but I still want to focus on how much Cincinnati.
Starting point is 00:36:27 What are you doing? That's like it's such an embarrassing look picking on a middle school. And you've just now given Xavier, there's such a good, feel, good story that they're going to help this middle school and take it as far as to help them design the new logo and anything they need to get you all on the right track away from the Bearcats. we're going to help you out. Shannon, I feel like you have to love the pettiness of saving here right there, don't you?
Starting point is 00:36:46 I do. Yeah, I mean, what better way to stick it to your rival than to just basically assist and help them get a new logo and a new mascot. I love it. It's great. But Cincinnati's the lamest rhyme for doing this. I mean, legally, I understand you have to protect your copyright. So, again, what most schools will do is they'll say, okay, either you can, we will license you the logo for a, or maybe you need to change it to be a little different.
Starting point is 00:37:14 But Cincinnati not only makes them change it, they also say you can't even use the name, which I'm not even sure if legally they're allowed to do that. But they threaten them. This middle school doesn't have the money to go try to defend itself with legal fees. To me, Cincinnati is the pettiest universe. That's one of the pettiest things I've seen a college do.
Starting point is 00:37:35 Cincinnati, you should be ashamed of yourself on the other side of the border, What a petty thing for a middle school in Tennessee. Yeah, the PR people in Cincinnati or the marketing people, whoever, they need to be fired. And the people Xavier need to get a raise. They're PR people because that's a brilliant move by them to step in. Like, hey. It's a middle school.
Starting point is 00:37:55 Middle school in Tennessee. Not even in your own state. It seems like a lot of middle schools use NFL logos. Like any team that's the Patriots, I feel like they just have the New England logo. Lots of places do this. What the New England Patriots will do is when they find it, they'll see. send them a letter and say, give us a dollar and you can use it. Because legally that's what they need to do in order to protect themselves.
Starting point is 00:38:16 Yeah. And they should do that. But banning them from using bearcats, I'll never cheer for Cincinnati. That's the lamest thing I've ever seen a school do. I cannot think of a lamer action by a school than going after a middle school over their logo. It's ridiculous. Not even the logo. Their nickname, Shannon.
Starting point is 00:38:36 Just their nickname. Well, yeah, it's very petty. I just hope the Denver Broncos never find out about Bullitt East logo because it's the exact same logo. Same thing for Middlesboro. Exact logo. For Middlesboro with Georgia Tech. I mean, we all need to be, you know, we all need to be careful. Xavier should bring that middle school to their big rivalry game.
Starting point is 00:38:54 Oh, they should. Give them a whole section. They should. They should. Let them come to the skyline shootout and throw the chili right in Cincinnati's faces. Alan. Who's next? Alan, go ahead, Alan.
Starting point is 00:39:05 All right, real quick, regarding Mark Stoops, how about this as an alternative? There's been a lot of talk about how hard coaching is, especially in the SEC these days, with Transfer Portal, NIL and all that. Stubes has definitely talked a lot about it. What about a new position within the Athletics Association for just focusing on football NIL? They're not going to do that. Again, folks, first of all, why would he want to focus on NIL? He hates it.
Starting point is 00:39:37 He does. That's the part of the job he hates the votes. Yep. But it's a fact of life these days. I understand, but you want him to stop coaching and do the part of the job he hates? I would love for him to continue coaching. I think he's the greatest thing that comes to. You're saying, well, they already have that.
Starting point is 00:39:58 They already have a person. Eddie Grant is the person in charge of NIO. And he's doing great. Yeah. But I don't understand what you want him to do. I'm sorry, I'm missing it. What do you want him to do? I'm thinking divide and conquer as far as coaching responsibilities these days
Starting point is 00:40:19 and having somebody in a, instead of an assistant coach position, somebody equivalent to a coach taking over the NIL because Stoops has got the relationship. And overall, people are just pointed this year, but he's got a great reputation. at Kentucky, and then you make room for a new coach, an up-and-coming coach, to come in and take over just the coaching duties and focus on coaching. But again, he's not going to do that. I mean, why in the world, Mark Stoop, the part of, you're asking that Mark Stoop stop the part of the job he likes, which is coaching football, and take over the part of the job he hates,
Starting point is 00:41:00 which is NIL. Why would he do that? Well, if he continues to coach the way he is. is, that's not going to last long. But he has all the leverage, and that's the thing we have to remember. And I appreciate the call. He has all the leverage. We have, the University of Kentucky has no leverage with Mark Stoops.
Starting point is 00:41:24 Mark Stoops has a pretty much a fully guaranteed contract, or at least a substantially guaranteed contract. And he gets it, no matter what, unless, like, he were to break a rule or something. So we can't, I mean, we don't have the ability to. to force him to do anything. And the idea that he would say, you know what I hate about coaching now, raising money. But you know what I'll do full time? Raise money.
Starting point is 00:41:51 Like, that would be, Shannon, that would be like me quitting doing the radio just so I can read the commercials. Yeah. Stoops isn't doing that. No, I mean, he's just not going to do it. Yeah, he's just not going to do it. So, I mean, he has all of the, all of the leverage. And that's just the.
Starting point is 00:42:09 reality that we find ourselves in. Draft Kings, if you want to get ready for the Maui Invitational or other Thanksgiving Feast Week tournaments, go to Draft Kings. Promocodes KSR, Bet 5, get $150 in bonus bets. Let's look at the Monday night football game tonight, Ryan. It looks like it is Ravens Chargers, Ravens by two and a half on the spread. Who you got? Yeah, it's the Harbaugh Bowl.
Starting point is 00:42:35 The brothers are fighting against each other tonight, so I'm going with John and the Ravens tonight. going John. I'm going to take Jim. I think at home, Jimmy Harbaugh will cover the two and half and probably win the game. What about you, Drew? I'll go Raiders, but the Chargers have found some magic. Raiders aren't in the game. I mean to say Ravens. The Chargers have won like five out of six, so they've figured something out, but I still, Ravens are still my Super Bowl pick, even though they've taken a couple of losses recently. I think they can win and cover tonight. All right. What about you, Shane? Yeah, well, Lamar will be in the game, and I think it's just hard to ever bet against him. So I'm going to go with the Ravens on this one. All right.
Starting point is 00:43:12 Well, if you listen to the other night, they all picked the Steelers. I picked the Browns and I was right. And tonight, they're all picking the Ravens and I got the Chargers. Either way, go to Draft Kings, place your bet and get it in on Draft Kings. Please gamble responsibly. 1-800 gambler if you have a problem, be very careful and go to Draft Kings. We'll take a break. Be right back.

Starting point is 00:47:07 Yeah. This is my best friend, Janet. Hey. And we have been joined at the hips since high school. Absolutely. Now a redacted amount of years later, we're still joined at the hip. Just a little bit bigger hips, wider. This is a podcast.
Starting point is 00:47:18 We're recording it as we tailgate our youth soccer games in the back of my Honda Odyssey. With all the snacks and drink. Sidebar. Why did you get hard seltzer instead of beer? Well, then you got it. Do you want a white claw or something here? Just hit it. What are y'all doing?
Starting point is 00:47:33 Microphones? Are you making a rap album? I would buy it. Cut through the defense like a hot knife through sponge cake. That sounds delicious. Oh, you're lucky I'm not a drug addict. You're lucky I'm not an alcoholic. You're lucky I'm not a killer.
Starting point is 00:47:51 I love this team and I'm really trying to be a figure in their lives that they can rely on. Oh. Listen to soccer moms on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Cincinnati, Ohio. We also got rid this week of Jonathan India. Jonathan India Drew is the only player for the Reds that was there the whole time I've had season tickets. I think it was his second year when I first had season tickets. And basically they've turned their whole roster over except him.
Starting point is 00:48:32 He's the only guy that, to my knowledge, is still there from the beginning. Hunter Green came right after and then everybody else has come after. So they traded him this weekend. So the last vestige of my first year of season tickets is gone. Yeah, you know, I like the trade. They got a guy named Brady Singer. They needed another pitcher. So now all of my Reds connections from the moment I first bought my tickets are out the door.
Starting point is 00:49:02 It seems like you haven't even had them that long. How many years has it been? I mean, the whole roster. He's the only guy left. They've turned over the whole roster. I mean, they're all becoming most of the teams young, and they were all in the minors when I started going. I know you're excited about the future with Elliott and everything,
Starting point is 00:49:19 but is this kind of, do you feel like the closing of a book on an era of cigarette's fandom? Yeah, I never thought he was, I never thought, I mean, I never thought he was as good as everybody else did, but he was fine. I liked him, you know, he was, Shannon, he's a perfect example of how I don't let political affiliations
Starting point is 00:49:34 get in the way of my fandom, because he was like MAGA before they were MAG Oh, really? You know? Okay. Oh, yeah. I didn't know. Like, he was like, he was big. But I still liked him.
Starting point is 00:49:44 You know, like, that doesn't matter for baseball. What would bother me is that he just, I didn't think he was good enough to play, to play second base. And then he wasn't good enough to be a DH. And it was just. Well, but he gave a good number of years. And, you know, it's a little sad, Shannon. I've been watching him from the beginning and now he won't be a red. And turning over the.
Starting point is 00:50:06 for the Reds has worked out so well. So I'm happy for you. It's going to work out. We're going to be good. This is the year. We're going to be good. Like, you're a season ticket holder.
Starting point is 00:50:13 Do you want to see a change? I mean, we always talk about season ticket holders going, I'm not going to buy tickets next year. Well, I mean, we did have a change. We got a new manager, right? Terry Francona.
Starting point is 00:50:21 I'm excited about that. Yeah, I mean, I'm excited. They're going to be young. They've got the potential to be good. They need to go get one or two more hitters this off season. If they do, then I'm going to come in predicting a world series again. Like I have, just like I have. pitching maybe somebody to catch it you know maybe uh Ryan the high school playoffs provided some
Starting point is 00:50:41 huge upsets this weekend right so Boyle County four straight years of winning the state title they were ranked nationally hadn't lost a home game in the playoffs in a decade and they lose it home to your boys from Covington Catholic Covington Catholic at Boyle County Boyle County apparently scored the go-ahead touchdown but the guy fumbled the ball and it went through the end zone so Covecath took over ran out the clock So excited. I would not have predicted that, but it was an exciting win for Cuff Calf. Yeah, one of the few times we've had a nationally ranked team.
Starting point is 00:51:15 I saw an interesting stat about Sayer in Lexington there, Drew. Sayer, if they were to make the state championship, would it be the only team in history where the state championship game was closer to their campus than the regular season games? Because they play so far away from the school that Croger Field is actually, actually closer to them than where they normally play their home games. That's a good point. They're out there by cornbread hemp.
Starting point is 00:51:42 Yeah. Yeah, I mean, Chad Pennington, the formal NFL quarterback, kind of just started up Sayer football, and here we are talking about him making a run at state. So he's got good things going for the little school in downtown Lexington. He just never really thought of him as a football powerhouse, but he's got them winning games. Yeah, he knocked off Pikeville last weekend.
Starting point is 00:51:58 Pipe will have been the dominant team. Our friend of the KSR, KSR pregame show, Max, Duffy, assistant coach at Lexington Christian. They went all the way out to Mayfield, and it got so crazy that fans at Mayfield were trying to fight the coaches and players. Wow. Yeah. So they had to, Max and then were out in Mayfield.
Starting point is 00:52:22 They had to get escorts from the police off the stadium because Mayfield fans were trying to jump the fence and fight the coaches. Wow. I feel like Max could probably hold his own if he had to get involved in a brawl. But, man, that's crazy. Isn't that nuts, Ryan? I'd love to have seen how that ended up happening. Yeah, the stories that are coming out of there are not very nice about what happened down there.
Starting point is 00:52:48 The fans got a little out of control, said some really bad things. What do you mean? It was ugly. Lines were crossed? Lines were crossed, yes. Yeah, it sounds like Shannon, he won't say the details. Is it that bad? He's got to say the details?
Starting point is 00:53:04 It's pretty bad. think some stuff that was being said that I'm not going to repeat. Not about Max though, right? Not about Max. Wow. I don't have to drive down. I could you say a bad word about Max. Way to bring it down a notch, Shannon.
Starting point is 00:53:17 Good grief. I was like Ryan getting us all sad. I guess we'll go to the phones before Ryan makes any of us more cry. Go ahead. Randall. Randall, go ahead, Randall. Hey, Matt, I was going to talk about Aaron Brad Shawley. hate to hear the news about him and, you know, being a former cat, but, you know, on the positive
Starting point is 00:53:40 side, I think you will, you know, bring a lot of other players in the league and stuff with the, you know, more gambling in the sport and stuff like that, you know, realizing that it could be trouble for them if they were to, you know, shave points or anything like that. Yeah, I mean, if there's any player that doesn't realize that now, they need to because it's, you know, there have been, multiple NBA players. band for life. Basketball is a sport where it's the easiest to do, so you've got to be really careful. Right. And as far as like the cats, I mean, if they go undefeated in non-conference before they go in the conference, I mean, what would you see their losses? We'd probably
Starting point is 00:54:24 be ranked tomorrow one, one, two, three. I mean, if they were undefeated, I appreciate the call. You'd end up, I mean, you'd be passing Gonzaga if you did that. So I think you'd be in pretty good shape. Court physical therapy. If you need to have physical therapy, call our good friends at court. They have locations all over the state of Kentucky. 70 of them.
