Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker walks up to me, he goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue with 42.
A rep.
My mama want you to wave at her.
Hey, Ms. Parker.

This is Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Now, here's Matt Jones.
Welcome, everyone.
It is Kentucky Sports Radio Wednesday, November the 27th.
I am Matt Jones here, kind of at Don Franklin in Glasgow in Lexington to Kentucky.
You can give us a shout on the Clark's puppet shop phone line 859-2-8-8-0-2-2-8-2-8-2-8-8-8.
A-Vision Auto Glass text machine is 772-7-4 in this edition, sponsored by the T.J. Smith Law Office, you call T.J. He'll make them pay.
We are in Lexington, but we are doing the Don Franklin-Glasco remote, no matter your situation.
Don Franklin has the tools and experience ready for you. It's Don Franklin driven by family.
We were supposed to be in Glasgow today. That's gotten put off now until a day in December.
but we're still sort of with Don Franklin and Glasgow metaphorically in our hearts.
But we rescheduled a little bit because of the holiday, but still want to promote our good friends there.
And, you know, Ryan, it's like, it's like we're in Glasgow.
The only difference is no Gabe laying down the law, but otherwise it's the same.
We always see Brandon Stockton down at the Glasgow, Don Franklin.
That's right.
He works there.
Yeah, doesn't he?
That's right.
I forgot about that.
And Suzanne is there.
Happy Thanksgiving to Suzanne in Glasgow.
Drew, good to see you.
We're in the Lexington studio, which is a very weird.
We're not here very often.
And what's interesting, Drew, is I can see.
I don't think I've ever seen this before.
There's a camera in here where I can see Shannon in Louisville and he can see me.
And it's like, it's almost like I'm a peeping Tom in Shannon's studio right now.
Yeah, what are you doing?
Let me turn this thing off.
I know.
It's like cover up.
So weird. It's like Shannon, put your shirt on. It's this is a professional building. Now you know how I normally show up for work. You can't see me every day. So, Drew, it's exciting. All of us here in sight. You're very excited when you sat down and Shannon's face is on the screen. I only see the back of the screen. So Shannon, hello, I can't see you. I can't see you. I hope you're looking good over there. But Matt was thrilled that you're in the room with us.
I just never get to see Shannon. Even when you guys are in the same Louisville studio, you can't see each other. I can't see him. And like, this is technology. First of all, Billy's been holding.
from me this entire time. I've never known this existed until right now. Actually, I'm going to
take a picture so I can tweet out what it's like for me to see. Look at that. We do the pre-show
like this every morning. So the pre-show has more technology than the regular show at this point.
If you showed up in the studio, you could use it. That's true. I got a question. There's still
like three other cameras in here. What are these for? Not you. You don't get to. It's pointing right
at me. So who's looking at me? We can turn them on.
Nobody's, nobody's looking at you. Leave him off.
859-28027. I'll get to see the
names here, which means I can call
on who I want, which means not Bob and James Town.
And we can go from there. He was the next
to last call last night, said that he was
disappointed in the performance.
I'm surprised he didn't bring up the Reds or just
something off topic, but
you know, not the best way to end your show.
Were you disappointed in the performance?
Kentucky wins by 19.
over Western.
The good and the bad.
All right.
So good.
You shoot not well.
Eight for 29 from three,
which is just a little over 30%.
You don't
you don't play well offensively and you still score 87 points.
Good performances from Lamont Butler,
O.A and Andrew Carr.
Carcisa gives you some good minutes.
The bad, I thought they struggled to get their shot a lot of the game.
Amari Williams, don't put that one in the highlight reel.
Even though he did almost have a double double.
He did have six turnovers, five of them in the first half.
And it just wasn't quite, you know, a ton of people at the game, Ryan, but not the greatest atmosphere.
It just felt like the crowd never could exactly get into the game, but still a 19 point win.
I wish they'd have called a few more fouls in the game.
Oh, my goodness.
49 fouls called.
It was ugly.
It was an ugly game to watch.
No rhythm.
Like every time you get going, there'd be a foul.
But, you know, Kentucky found a way to win when they weren't playing their best.
So I think if Pope drew it up, he probably would want a game like this before he goes in the next week with Clemson and Gonzaga.
Well, he said, I mean, this is like a first round tournament game.
And in some ways, I think that's correct.
I mean, you would get a first round tournament game where maybe the building's not rock us and you don't play great.
but this is just a grinded out first round win.
Yeah, and he mentioned the way they play defense is a lot like SEC teams,
a lot of pressure.
They're fouling a lot.
They're really messing up all the things the UK does well.
They're going to play.
I said on the post game, the less talented teams in the SEC,
that's how they're going to play us.
The Mississippi states, the Georgia's, the Texas A&Ms,
or not Texas, they're pretty good, but South Carolina's.
Like, they're going to play us like Western did.
Yeah, in some ways they used to do that when we had freshmen too.
and the freshmen weren't quite ready.
This is a little different,
but Pope seemed to think that'll help him in the long run.
You know, it's frustrating at parts,
but, you know, I think even you and I thought
they were going to have a little bit of a come-down moment.
Heck, if I can pat myself on the back,
I miss the score prediction by like two points.
I'm not that disappointed
and kind of thought this might be coming.
Just a few things like Amari Williams,
that was disappointing.
That was a pretty bad first half.
He was calling his own number a few too many times there,
and he was just turning the ball over every time he touched it.
I just have to say, you know,
I think we've said a couple times in the in the shows prior.
Like what's what has what has not gone right in the Pope Aaron?
We're like, oh, there's nothing.
Amari Williams dribbling from the top of the key.
I don't need that.
Like I get it like it's nice to have a center out there who can lead,
who can pass and all that.
But just no, no.
Once again, when he goes out, you put car at the five, you kind of go small.
That's a pretty efficient lineup.
It does hurt you though when you do that rebounding.
I mean, I think that.
They can only, like when Western had their guy, I guess, Boba Car, Faye in, that didn't, the car at the center didn't work because he got all the rebounds.
Yeah, he did.
But Amari Williams dribble under the basket is not my.
That's your number one option.
It's not top 50 options.
But when he's under the basket, rebounding, et cetera, I'm actually, I think he's very, he's very effective defensively.
But dribbling, I mean, he dribbles like Stanley from the office.
He does.
I mean, he dribbles and he only goes left.
I mean, we have, like, car can only go right and Amari can only go left.
And so there is a sense that I think that hurts us a little bit.
He drew the big foul on Fay.
They got him out when they were coming back a little bit because Fay was very good.
The Rupparina was very thrilled when he had to go to the bench.
Yeah, he was good.
Amari drew that foul that got him out.
That reminded me of when I was sitting there thinking as I was watching Fay.
His name is Babacar.
And I was trying to think, I've heard.
that name and then I remembered that at one point I think Georgetown had on the same team
a guy named Bubacar Al. Do you remember that? Oh. His name was Bubacar Al, God, Sham God. Yeah.
And my personal favorite name maybe in college basketball history, Y, Y, Y, J.A, J.A, J.A, J.A,
but it was pronounced Yaya, but then the last one was Jha.
Do you remember those players?
God Sham God, I remember him.
He was really good.
Yeah, but you don't remember Bubacar Al or Yaya Jha?
No, I don't remember those guys.
Funny, they're all on the same team.
I think they were all on the same Georgetown team.
That's what I, what I remembered yesterday.
Anything else stuck out to you from an otherwise, obviously we get to hang a banner,
BBN invitational champs.
Hang it.
Someone asked Jack Pilgrim, I don't know if they're from UK or what, but they were like,
why are you all have this like effort to make BB an invitational thing?
And I'm like, why are you celebrating it?
It's on the schedule.
You all created it.
We didn't create it.
We're just happy to win it.
And everybody was trying to steal Drew's joke, Shannon, saying it should be the BB
Invitational.
Drew is the first one to come up with that.
Last night on social media, everybody was acting like they came up with it.
Shannon, that was Drew's, give Drew credit.
BB Invitational was him.
I like that.
Now, do we at least get a trophy, like maybe like a little haybell tossing trophy that Billy had?
I like the Drew's, I liked again, Drew's suggestion we hang it next to the Judd's banner up there in the corner of my Rufferina.
I stayed all night waiting for it to go up there.
Jack to ask Kerr Cruza about cutting down the nets.
And Gary said they're going to wait for the big one in March or April, but it's great to win this one.
Well, it is.
You don't want to lose the BB invitation.
No, you don't.
I hope they keep changing the names.
It's had a lot of names over the years.
But a nice victory.
It was a great night at college basketball.
ball, but it was also nice, Ryan, to sort of not have to worry about it for Barron.
We kind of took care of business and I never felt like there was a moment we were going
to lose again.
Yeah, even when Western cut it to six.
I think they had it six and had the six point and had the ball one time.
I was never worried that they were going to lose that game.
I mean, like I said, good teams find a way to win when you're not playing your best,
and they found a way to win last night.
You did see, though, my one minor concern, which is even take those moments where it was six,
there's still not a give this guy the ball and he'll get a basket.
Yeah.
They just don't have that.
They have to work for everything, even down six,
which would be the moment you go, okay, give X person the ball and let's go get it.
They just, they don't really have that guy.
But they also can then make back-to-back threes with Kerr Kreeza and get your lead from
eight to 15 or whatever.
I thought O.A. and Butler had a pretty good few tough finishes and they got foul out
to the line. Now Butler could have shot a little better at the line, but those two at least when
the offense just crawled to nothing and they were standing around more than we've ever seen,
those two attacked, and Carr also, I'll add him in. That's why they're your leading scores,
but we saw them try to create as best they could, and they were good at drawing fouls, just need
to hit the free throws a little bit. Carr's two best games have been arguably the two hardest.
Yes. Duke and Western. On the counter to that, Jackson Robinson's two worst games
have been arguably the two hardest. So I hope that's not, I hope at least on the
Robinson side, Ryan, that's not something that continues as the season goes on because he has played
his two worst games against the two best, better teams we've played.
About Carr, I did hear Jack Given say during the broadcast that, you know, the other opponents,
he's been more concerned about trying to get the off, get other people involved.
But these two better games where he got put to five, he's become more offensive minded,
looking to take his shot, you know.
It's clear that the way to play Kentucky, this team is to try to be physical with them.
Yeah.
I think, and I think you're going to see more and more teams doing that.
against this. I mean, Duke did it some, but then Western did it a lot. And I think, Drew,
that's going to be the, if you're kind of creating the map of how to play them, that's how you're
going to play. Yeah, and that's why when Pope says this was a good test, if there are any more of
those, we'll take them because the SEC, these guys are only going to get bigger and stronger
playing that same style. And a guy like Robinson, who hadn't handled it well so far,
I hope that's not just how it's going to be because he did seem to shy away from the contact
a little bit last night. On a completely different note, Shannon, I don't have a pass to this
building. So how do you get in? You wait for Ryan and Drew? Well, first of all, I can tell you
with my view when I got to the building today. Well, I have, I had a pass and I quickly lost it.
And they just won't give me another one. You try to take mine one one one one one day.
Well, they won't give me another one to this building. They're just like, no. So, you know,
that's hard because I do need to get into this building. So normally I have to sit in the parking
garage and wait for someone to come get me. Well, today, I got there before everybody else. So I just
set on the ground in P1 in the building.
And Drew, you said I'll come get you.
And what did you see when you opened the elevator?
Well, I went to P2.
I like to go down the floor.
I hope you got it out.
I like to get down underground a little bit.
So I was like, yeah, I'll just come up to P1.
I'll grab you.
Then we'll go up to our floor.
Door swing open on P1.
I just thought he might be standing there.
I thought I might even if I could go find him.
No, he was sitting on the ground with a big, I think McDonald's Diet Coke.
Just kind of childlike sitting there waiting for someone to come getting him.
for somebody to get me. Now, the problem was before Drew, Shannon, a random group of three people
walking to work saw me. And one of them goes, Matt Jones, which if you think about,
that's got to be a weird sight for that guy. Tough times, huh? Yeah, you're in the parking
garage at work and you see the guy you listen to sitting on the ground outside drinking
a Diet Coke. Time's tough, Matt? Like, is it hard? So I got to get a pass into this building.
Can we make that happen?
I think there's probably people here that can make that happen for you.
I feel like, I don't know, Shannon.
I feel like Bobby Bones can get into his building.
But Bobby Bones probably doesn't lose his pass either.
He's probably more responsible than you are.
If he did, I bet they'd give him another pass.
Yeah.
I mean, is there anybody in that building other than you guys and Billy?
No, I mean, there's like law firms and accountants.
No, no, no.
I have no.
I mean, like in the eye heart part of the building is what I see people.
I don't know most of them, but I see them out there.
And I feel like, but they have a pass.
to go and reduce yourself.
You know, you're, you pay every time too.
Yes, I have to pay.
I pay parking.
The parking's supposed to be free.
I'm going to pay $10.
I have to pay $10 like every day.
We can get you validated.
I don't get validated.
I don't know how that works.
I don't even know who you would go to to get validated.
But anyway, 859-2-80-2287.
We are here at Don Franklin in Glasgow.

Oh, it's so nice.

Just buff it up.
We'll be right back.

What's up, fam, it's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defying the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy
in the lineup, he has to really guard
guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard
Julius Randall. And then he has to give us
everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis
on offense. And when IT's friends
stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive
into some playoff history too.
Steve Nash would get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying. He run
running up the court, licking his fingers why he got the
ball like, after you go
through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you
figure it out real quick. Get
your ass up and down the court, and you
going to get the ball. So listen to
Point game on the I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Hey, everyone. It's Ryder Strong and Will Ferdell from PodMeets World.
And now the Pod Meets Twirled podcast.
We're two men who were completely clueless to reality TV, who now have covered dancing
with the stars, traitors, and we're gearing up for the season finale of Survivor.
So yeah, now we're experts.
I know we annoyed a lot of our listeners by our severe lack of survivor knowledge.
That is the point of this show.
I'm just going to remind you.
I have watched some Survivor.
I obviously haven't watched enough.
Did people not like it?
Like what was just because we?
Yeah.
We'll be recapping the big conclusion
in the 50th season
from the final attempts at gameplay
to the desperate pleas of finalists
to a bunch of
ha, who.
Ah, ha, ooh.
Again, we are experts.

On the podcast cultivating her space, Dr. Dom and Terry Lomax create a space where black women can show up fully and be heard.
I wholeheartedly think, you know, you hit 30.
You shouldn't have to share one with anybody.
Mm-hmm.
From navigating friendships and healing to setting boundaries and prioritizing your mental health.
These are real honest conversations.
We don't always get to have out loud.
Totally unreasonable with different parts of life, right?
Like, oh, have all three meals and make sure you're mindful during all of them?
Absolutely not.
During one meal, I'm standing.
I'm standing and handing my children food.
Because healing, empowerment, and resilience aren't just ideas.
They're practices.
And this Mental Health Awareness Month, there's no better time to pour back into yourself.

Oh, green jelly.
Right?
Yeah.
Is this green jelly?
I know this.
I know.
Listen, if it was popular in the 90s, I know green jelly.
How did you know this?
I knew it.
He knows 90s.
I know the 90s.
Like when they do those shows on TV, it's like, I love the 90s.
and they bring out and you're like, who are these random people?
I should be on it.
I remember every pop culture moment from the 90s.
I know the music, the movies.
Give me the 90s.
I got it.
This is a deep cut.
This is a deep cut.
It is a really deep cut.
Now, remembering the name Green Jelly, that's a little surprising that I was able to get that.
One correction.
God, shame God was on Providence.
Georgetown also had Ruben Boomshay, Boomshay.
What a great name.
A lot of fun names.
Georgetown was good.
about having the great names.
Dodd Franklin here.
It's our Wednesday before Thanksgiving show.
UK and Western UK gets the victory.
Mark Pope was, I think you wrote Drew after the game.
He was throwing T-shirts into the crowd.
He was.
He walked out with a big basket.
Someone from UK carrying even more behind him.
And he was just, he was a human t-shirt cannon,
which just added to people being excited for those radio shows.
I know Cal drew great crowds too,
but it just carried on.
There were a lot of people staying.
A lot of kids last night with school being out.
Yeah, a lot of be a younger crowd.
But yeah, they just keep adding to that.
I walked outside.
There were two kids smoking in my yard.
Did you say it to get off my lawn?
Well, I didn't because I didn't want to be that guy.
But I also felt like I didn't think they were 18.
So I didn't feel like they, A, should be smoking.
But I also, Shannon didn't want to be the guy who's like, you know, that can harm your lungs.
Yeah.
So I just sort of.
You can't go up and check their ID.
No, I wasn't going to.
I didn't know what that.
But they had UK gear on.
They clearly been at the game.
They probably were 15 or 16 years old.
And they were like smoking in my lawn.
And there was a part of me that was like,
am I that guy now who not only is like get off my lawn,
but also why are you smoking?
You young and shouldn't be out there smoking.
It was after the post game show too, though.
So because they were, I would argue they were also loitering.
Oh, man.
Smoking, loitering, and, you know.
You should have pressed charges.
Trespassing.
I had a lot of charges on them, but I let it go.
I just walked back inside and did the thing.
Maybe they've done it many, many times because they knew nobody was ever going to catch them.
Well, you're on notice, children.
I'm not.
Take their picture.
Your picture is going to be taken.
Jay, go ahead, Jay.
Matt, first time, short time.
What's going on?
I recently, thank you.
I recently married into a Wildcats family.
So for the past three seasons, I've been all in on the Big Blue Nation.
My wonderful wife, Marion, was born and raised in Richmond.
We listen to your show all the time.
And tomorrow is Marion's birthday.
I was hoping you and the KSR crew could wish her a happy birthday.
I know it would mean a lot.
Well, happy birthday, Marion.
I hope you have great turkey stuffing and whatever this man gets you for the birthday.
It better be good.
So much.
You're welcome.
Go big blue.
Go big blue.
There you go.
I mean, you got to get a good birthday.
I was interesting watching last night.
It feels like Kentucky has eight dudes, maybe seven dudes, that they really count on.
Because if you look at it, the minutes for Colin Chandler, Ansley, Allmanor, and even Garrison
were lower last night.
It feels like they feel really good about seven, Garrison, maybe eight, All Menor, Nine.
and then I think there's a drop off to Chandler at 10.
Do you agree with that?
And the minutes were skewed more than I think they have been.
Could be also, Western was a little smaller.
Your boy, Almanor didn't check in until much later in the game he normally has.
They only played seven minutes.
As fast as Western played, I wonder the way he's built if he's not able to keep up.
But yeah, it was interesting seeing some of the guys we've seen a lot of like Garrison and Almanor,
even Kerr only played about 11 minutes.
And it was also in the plus minus interesting.
Like if you were to say to people, okay, who are your five?
best players. You probably would say in some order, Robinson Butler, Oway, Carr, and Brea.
And if you look at the plus minus, let me read you the plus minus. Oway plus 22, Butler plus 21,
Robinson plus 19, Carr plus 21, Brea plus 14. Then you go all the way down, Amari Williams
plus seven, and the other guys all had negative. It's almost like yesterday was like, you see,
the tears of the players
almost based on that.
Yeah. Like we said, when they weren't
playing their best, Pope, I like,
he kept the guys out there to try to work through
some of this. Like I said, I think he probably was happy.
They had a game and had to struggle a little bit
going in the next week's games. Yeah, I mean, O.A and Robinson
both played 33 minutes. I think
they're going to probably be the guys most of
the year that play. I agree with that. I think Oway
and Robinson are like the rocks to them
and they're going to be the dudes that are in there
the vast majority of the time. Corey,
what's up, Corey?
Hey Matt, first time, long time.
Who are? What's up?
I tweeted you back in the summer.
I had that pennant with Dan Essel and Louis Dampeer and Adolf Rup signature on it.
Okay.
And I actually thought you were going to be at the bar today.
We stopped by there, but I dropped the pinnett off there.
You said you were going to get it hung and hanging in the bar.
Yeah, I would love to do that.
I'm sorry we're not there, but we will definitely.
Definitely get that.
That's Ryan Lemon's job.
He does the bar hangings.
So we will make sure that he takes care of it.
And we'll put it up.
That's a very nice gift from you.
Yeah.
And like said,
I left it with the bar manager there this morning.
She has it.
So go big blue.
All right,
go big blue.
That was very nice.
I would say,
what do you think,
Ryan,
75% of the stuff at the bar is fan donated?
Oh, absolutely.
Yeah.
And when the restaurant closes,
It's going to be such a great thing for Ryan to get all the people, their stuff back.
Remember we had a list?
I haven't seen that list.
We didn't have a list.
You have a list.
Maria and I had a list.
Don't pull Maria into this.
Maria is enjoying her holiday.
Maria logged it.
And there's no,
there's no log.
We don't have a computer system.
Like you are in charge.
You are in charge. It's your big part of the bar is making sure that that we, that we, that we, that we, that
you keep track of the stuff.
So don't pass this.
Maria is not even here.
Maria works for On 3.
Well, at the time she was with us,
and I got to say,
I've not seen that list since 2018.
2018.
That is six years ago.
The restaurant opened in 2018.
So what did you do in the six years in between?
I gave the list to Maria.
No, no, no.
We're not throwing.
Say Maria again.
This is not Maria and it's not Maria Tosteen.
It's not Maria Montgomery.
It's not my Maria.
It's no Maria.
You are the one that has the list.
I do not have that list.
And I have no idea where the list is.
So those of you that donated your stuff,
if we ever close the place down,
Ryan Lemon in Masterson Station,
look for the howling dogs in the smoldering fireplace,
Drew.
And that will be where,
your stuff is. We'll set up a little flea market out on the sidewalk. We're not selling it. We're not
our stuff. We'll go on our system when they pick it up. All right. Well, I can't believe you're pulling
Maria into this. Poor, it's Thanksgiving. Maria's sitting at home doing nothing and you're pouring
her into this. I apologize, Maria. It's your fault. 8,000, 2287. We'll be right back. KSR.
Don't you know. T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J. He'll make them pay.
Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Here's Matt Jones.
Great song, Shannon.
Yeah, Brooks and Dunn.
Brooks and Dunn.
How many hits Brooks and Dunn have?
Oh, God.
Probably.
Yeah.
25?
I'm serious.
Like, I can't think of a group with just more quantity of big songs.
Since 1990, I mean, what, it's probably them and Garth?
Yeah.
with the most quantity of hits.
They almost have as many hits as Bob and Jamestown has calls.
Like, it's close.
It's not quite there, but it's close.
It's getting there.

What about Danny Hurley,
Drew?
What's wrong
with that dude?
Psychopath?
Something's...
Need to be committed?
Something's a little off
up there and I mentioned this
on pregame show,
but after he had the game
two nights ago,
it's like ESPN said,
zoom in on his face
every chance you get in this game.
But I felt like most of that game
they were showing him.
After he had that freak out though
two nights ago,
wouldn't you think he would have tried
to be on better behavior the next night?
Can't help himself.
I don't think he can,
which I think is actually.
kind of scary. I mean, that video, as much as he freaked out and got that awful technical
in the first game, I actually think the second video yesterday during the loss to Colorado is
almost more troubling because he seemed like a person out of control. Yeah. I mean, if that dude,
whoever his assistant was hadn't been there, and then he went off on the assistant. If you read his
lips, he's like, you better not tell me blankety, blankety blankety blank. You know, I'm not trying to play pop
psychologist. But dude was out of control, Ryan. And he's in Maui.
Like, he's in Maui. Come on. You're in Maui.
The first night when he lost these stuff, you'd think at that point, somebody needs his wife,
doesn't even have to be a staff member. Somebody say, hey man, it's just November.
You've won back-to-back titles. And you're in Maui. Like, it's okay.
It's November. It's okay. There's a lot of basketball left this season. But then the very next night,
he loses his stuff again.
I mean, they're playing for seventh place today against Dayton.
I love that. Say it again.
They're playing for seventh place against Dayton.
Loses to Memphis and Colorado.
I mean, they were expecting to play,
probably play like Michigan State and then Iowa State or Auburn.
They're going to be playing.
Their three games are going to be Memphis, Colorado, and Dayton,
and they're going to be at best one and two.
Like, that's a pretty awful performance by the back-to-back defending champion.
It's a short sample, small sample size so far, but it's looking like they might be taking a little step down.
Even the Mahaney guy, they got out of the portal that, you know, they were looking at Braya and Mahaney at the same time.
Looks like Kentucky might have won out on that deal.
He doesn't look.
He hasn't looked good at all.
But I was thinking when he was losing on everyone, like I imagined him if he had been Kentucky's coach, because let's all admit, everybody wanted him when Mitch flew up there.
For sure.
If he were at like dinner and some Kentucky fan bothered him, would he like snap on fans if any inconvenience?
It wouldn't have gone well here, right?
like that he couldn't have done that here could not have done that here
the sitting that chair you got to understand what it means to deal with the fans the alumni
I mean it's because it means so much to all of us you can't do that imagine him and
Mitch no and it's just such a pressure cooker here if he can't handle Maui with you know
just I have something I'd like to say have at it just us just us boys here be Bahamas Matt
he can't be Maui Dan you be Bahamas Matt have a really good story about this exact thing
but I don't really think it's the day before Thanksgiving
yeah come on what's wrong to say it I'm the devil on your shoulder
you can change the names to protect the innocent
there's no way to let's just say that
he and Mitch would not have gotten old
and I think
it's the best way for me
I think Mitch knew that
and I think even though they wanted him
and they went after him they had to
I think there was a sense of we would have liked to
had him, but also maybe a little bit of a sigh of relief when he said no.
Uh-huh.
I get that.
Like, I just dealt with this for a long time.
Yeah.
I can't imagine having to switch to that.
Which would have been, I think, maybe a lot of the same in that.
I think it would have been, I would see, okay, again, difference between Cal, early years, end of years.
I think end of years, cow and hurley, you would have had the same arrogance and the same, I think,
they're both very arrogant.
I think Hurley is more belligerent.
Cow wasn't belligerent like that.
No.
But also Cal was much more like indifferent slash wouldn't.
Like I think you could still get Hurley to meet with boosters and stuff.
Does that make sense?
Yeah.
So it's two different difficult traits.
Hurley, belligerent.
Cow wasn't belligerent.
But Cal was also like, I'm not doing anything.
So deal with it.
And now they have Pope whistling,
you are my sunshine down the hallway and dropping biscuits in every office.
He literally is like baking cookies for people.
Throwing t-shirts out to everybody after the game.
I mean, can you imagine?
Like, just think about the difference just in working day-to-day personality between those two guys.
Yeah.
It's kind of unbelievable.
The other question about Maui, why do they make everyone wear those shows?
Do they make them or do you just people feeling it?
I think that's voluntary.
But do people know why, like, do they want everyone that comes to wear those shows?
I don't several, so I can't hate.
But if we had the Kentucky invitation, I mean, we did have the invitation.
But let's say we had a Kentucky invitation.
The eight teams came to during Thanksgiving weekend.
It was a celebration of Kentucky.
Would we want all the coaches to show up in overalls?
No.
No.
Checkerboards, maybe.
We would not want them to come over here and go,
Yee-ha!
We would just want them, right?
There has to be a part of people in Hawaii that are like,
can you like we don't wear these shirts every day like the people in mowie just live there they
don't walk around in those shirts right i don't know maybe i've never been i hope we have the opportunity
one year i just don't i just i don't think kentuckians would want if it was the kentucky
invitation before everybody show up in a cowboy hat and overalls and go like yeah it's bidenen
playing the banjo like there comes a point i don't know that people in maui do they like that
It has been something they've done going back to the 80s where the coaches wear these crazy shirts.
I understand, but do the people there like that?
I don't know.
I've been.
Yes, you've been.
And everyone that goes wears it.
Did you wear one of the shirts?
Maybe, but if you go out on the street, the average person walking down the street's not walking around in a shirt like that.
But if you're a tourist or a guest of the island.
I know, but I just, I don't know.
I think we're trying to be so native that we become un-like.
People don't know why were the same clothes we did.
Yeah, like New Yorkers aren't walking around with an I love New York shirt.
No, exactly.
That's exactly right.
I think, I just think we go, I think we go too far when we're trying to do the whole Hawaii thing.
Jake, go ahead, Jake.
Guys, I'm driving from Chicago to Whitley County now to pick up my grandma for Thanksgiving.
Oh, that's nice.
Yeah, I just want to make a couple quick points.
First thing is I met up with you guys in Chicago around this time last year,
We hung out at the
sports book. At the draft kings.
That was a lot of fun.
Yeah.
That was blessed.
Yeah.
That place was packed and it was awesome.
Everyone should go there.
He went back that night.
It was really just us, but we won all the prizes, which was nice.
So that's good.
I went out.
Yeah, we did go out, Drew.
But not talking about that right now, I was thinking about the year since then,
because you guys about to hit on your next road trip.
And how much has happened, and especially in the Kentucky ether, and I know, you guys have been through a lot.
I just want to say with Thanksgiving tomorrow, looking back at all the things, I'm so thankful for you guys and always being, you know, some part of my every day.
And I can tell it's been a tough year for everybody.
And I remember eight years ago, listening to the first time.
and first time I listened was when Trump got elected the first time,
and that's just been so long.
And eight years later, we're right back in the same spot.
That's right.
Well, I appreciate the call.
I do, you know, we did do this trip last year.
We went up that way, and we're in Chicago, and it was a different time that time.
I mean, it was a different.
I remember specifically on that trip, we lost to UNC Wilmington to start that trip.
Yes, we did.
We had just left.
And we got to Indiana and we lost to UNC Wilmington.
And then, I don't know, did we lose again on that trip to someone?
We won the game.
We went to the game against Penn.
We went to the game against Penn.
But we lost to UNC Wilmington.
And that was the moment that you kind of were like, I don't know if this year is going to be any better.
And it is amazing, Drew, how far it's come since then.
I mean, just the universal positivity.
There's a part of me, there was a guy that called last night on the post game show
who talked about how the last few years had become tedious and this year is a year filled with joy.
And I really liked that description.
Yeah, and I don't think anyone, even the most optimistic person, could have seen the turnaround we've had in such a short amount of time.
I think it's ridiculous last night.
People were so mad online that Kentucky was up by eight in the first half.
and I'm thinking, we used to be tied.
Down at halftime.
And now we're complaining that Western is playing us within 12 at halftime or whatever it was.
Well, that's the difference to being able to score.
Like when you can score and you don't slow it down,
we cannot play well and still score 87 points.
You know, what you said about that, the guy that called in last night,
I think he's right.
A lot of fans the last couple of years have become,
we kind of guarded our heart because we were afraid we were going to get hurt again.
That's gone now.
Now the joy is back.
You know, we're not afraid we're going to play bad and be trailing it at halftime to somebody we should be blowing out.
Yeah, joy to the world.
I'm trying to remember the next line.
Joy to the world, the Lord has come.
Let earth receive her king.
Let every heart prepare in room.
Let heaven and nature seem.

Last night, a blown call changed a game.
This morning, the internet lost its mind.
Highlights are trending, opinions are flying, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened.
That's where Sports Slice comes in.
I'm Timbo.
Every episode, we're cutting through the noise.
Breaking down the plays, the controversies, and the stories behind the
headlines. We go straight to the source, the athlete themselves, their locker room stories,
their reactions, the stuff nobody gets to hear. The laughs, the drama, the triumphs, the moments
that never make the highlight real. From viral moments to historic games, from buzzer beaders to
controversial calls, we break it down, give you context, and ask the questions everybody
wants answered. Sports Slice brings you closer to the action with stories told by the people who
live them. Listen to Sports Slice on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your

What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm CJ Toledano, and our podcast point game is about
defining the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows without Luca and Austin
Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nash would get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
He running up the court, licking his fingers while he got the ball.
After you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick.
Oh, yeah.
Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball.
So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Hey, everyone, it's Ryder Strong and Will Ferdell from PodMeets World.
And now the PodMeets Twirled podcast.
We're two men who were completely clueless to reality TV, who now have covered dancing with the stars, traitors, and we're gearing up for the season finale of Survivor.
So, yeah, now we're experts.
I know we annoyed a lot of our listeners by our severe.
lack of survivor knowledge.
That is the point of the show.
I'm just going to remind you.
I have watched some Survivor.
I obviously haven't watched enough.
Did people not like it?
Like what was just because we?
Yeah.
We'll be recapping the big conclusion
in the 50th season from the final attempts at gameplay
to the desperate pleas of finalists
to a bunch of ha, who.
Ha, ha, ha, ooh.
Again, we are experts.

What's up, guys? This is Clivert Taylor
the 4th. And on my podcast, the Cliverts

kinds of stuff. Like being
an internet famous referee.
We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker walks
up to me, he goes, hey, ref, my mom
wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out. Look.
Quarterback on office, Blue
42. A, rep.
My mama want you to weigh better.
What?
Hey, Miss Parker.
Listen to the Clifford show on the Iheart radio app,
Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.
Welcome back.
One person on text machine writes here on the Don Franklin Thanksgiving show.
Matt, I don't get to listen live.
I listen on podcast.
I've missed Shannon's music after listening today.
We all miss it.
We all wish, by the way, ESPN now has that rule too.
Oh, really?
No music in the podcast.
Yeah.
These music companies have all come and put their iron fists down.
And so hopefully it gets changed one day, but it's not our fault.
I have an update for you on something.
What?
Maria has an Excel document with around 40 to 50 names on it.
Yeah.
See. That's good.
What about the ones since then?
Have you been keeping track of it since then?
We'll work on that.
Effering.
So at least keep track of this guy's pennant.
Will you do that?
Yes.
If I were, Maria, I wouldn't have told you that after the way you talked about her.
I wouldn't have that information.
I completely threw her under the bus.
All right, I have something that, two things I want you to see.
First of all, you know, I like Ryan European soccer.
Yes, you do.
I like a little European soccer.
The Champions League.
Yes.
Play again today.
I enjoy it.
You know, I have random hoodies of Champions League.
Yes, you do.
European teams.
I have at Atlanta right now, the Italian team right here.
This was actually interesting enough, the team that was playing when the COVID-Vex, the COVID-virus.
first spread. You remember that?
Oh, really?
First spread at a European soccer game.
That was the team. This was one of the teams playing.
Okay, so two things.
One, there's a team that's on a huge upset run in the Champions League.
It's called Breast.
B-R-E-S-T.
It's a French team.
Thank you. Shannon is reading where I'm going with this.
A French team, not one of the better French teams, had a surprise year last year,
got in the Champions League and are having a surprise run this year.
There's a clip of about four minutes long.
I'm not going to play it.
But these announcers for CBS sports that does the Champions League, they're kind of funny.
One of them is, do you remember Tieri-Henri that played for France?
And there's these other guys.
I don't know who they are, but they start talking about the team Brest.
And Shannon, I'm just going to tell you, you need to find the clip.
They intentionally do all these double entendres.
And I have to give them credit.
They probably should win an Emmy for it.
It's about four minutes yesterday.
Look for it online.
It's gone viral.
You'll see it.
as I was watching it, I was like,
I cannot believe these guys are getting away with this.
It was three dudes and a woman.
The woman was the one leading it on.
She was like,
she was the funniest person involved.
You got to give her credit.
If it was just two dudes up there.
It was weird.
If it was all dudes, you couldn't do it.
Right.
But she couldn't do it.
But she made it to where you could do it.
But that's not what I want to talk about.
There's a team called Fianord.
I have a hoodie of Fianord.
I wore it for Fade this once.
Remember, I bet on them during a fade this episode.
Fianord is this team, I believe they're in Holland.
They're down 3-0 to Man City, 15 minutes to go at Man City.
Seems like it's over.
Over.
Man City, one of the best teams in the world.
Fianord, this little team that Matt has a hoodie from, but they stink.
But then they score to make it three.
Okay.
Now there's eight minutes to go.
Yeah.
Then they do this wild kick.
It goes off a guy's chest.
It's three to two.
The announcer, Shannon, they're so poetic in European songs.
They're like, an exceptional moment in the history of mankind.
Can little Fianord shock the giants from Man City?
And I'm like, Ian, I'm watching.
All in.
What's going to happen?
What is Fianord going to do?
And then Fianord with the minute left ties it up.
Oh, my.
The handful of Fianord fans go crazy.
All right, people are going nuts.
It's a wild scene.
If you have Paramount Plus, you can go watch it at the end.
It was really, it was poetry.
It's what I love about sport.
Little Fianord, Big Man City.
But that's not why I brought this up.
Man City has a coach named Pep.
Do you know who Pep is?
No idea.
He's just a coach named Pep.
Bald guy named Pep, very handsome.
All these European coaches dress like male models, Drew.
You know what I mean?
You only get hired by how you look.
You can't be a manager in Europe unless you are a middle-aged dilf, as the kids would say.
Right?
Pep, shaved head bald.
you watch him every time Fianord scores, he goes crazier.
And his head gets red.
And at some point, I don't know when it was, he starts taking his hands and he digs them into his head.
And you sit there and you go, that looks like that would hurt, but you don't think anything about it.
I want you to look up a picture of him.
I tweeted it out in the post-match interview.
And look at right now, look it up guys.
Look at his head.
He has, he is bleeding from the crudelying.
of his nose and his head looks insane and it was his own fingers that did it.
You think Danny Hurley's out of control.
Look at his head.
He did that to himself.
My goodness.
During the game.
A man needs a helmet if he can't take the action.
It has to rip off his own skull.
He literally digs his hands.
Shannon, look at that.
His nose is bleeding.
He caused himself to have a bloody nose.
He did a blade job on the side.
He did.
He's like Rick Flair.
We think Danny Hurley needs some help.
This guy needs some help.
Pep.
Pep.
Pep.
So if you get some chance tonight, you have nothing to do, go to Paramount Plus,
pull up the Fianord Man City game,
fast forward it to the 75-minute mark,
and just watch the last 15 minutes.
It's theater and watch Pep impale himself.
You think,
Our coaches care.
Danny Hurley ain't got nothing on PIP.
I wonder if we have any Kentucky fans that get into a game at home on the couch and have done anything like that.
I don't.
That's scary looking.
Danny, go ahead, Danny.
A sad news from Glasgow.
Yes.
Brandon Stockton passed away this year.
Yeah.
Who?
He said Brandon Stockton.
Are you sure?
Wait a man.
Is that right?
Yes.
when did that happen
back earlier in the year
he's been gone for
I don't know
five six seven months
hmm
anyway
first time caller
okay
who uh
all right
is that true
uh don't
yes
all right
I don't know about that
might be somebody a call in the environment
but
I don't know
I'm not trying to push it.
We would hope that you would have it confirmed if you were going to.
Yeah.
All right.
Well,
we think we'd have heard that.
We'd find it online.
Can you find it?
He posted on Facebook 45 minutes ago.
So I don't think that's interesting.
Sir,
he just posted on Facebook.
Well,
then he hung up.
Wow.
Talk about the one of us for Lou.
I have a lot of good.
Aaron Fleener loves Brandon.
I feel like we would know if that happened.
Well, so if he posted on Facebook, I think that means it's probably not true.
Brandon Stockton.
Give us a call.
I'm sorry.
I got his phone number.
I don't know.
I'm going to call him.
Wouldn't you call him during the break?
I am going to call him.
All right.
Rest in peace or rest in life.
