Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter.

You can give us a shout on the Clark's Puppet Shop phone line 859-280-2287. A Vision Auto Glass Text Machine is 772-774-5-25-4 in this edition sponsored by the T.J. Smith Law Office, if you call T.J. He'll make them pay. We've got me, Ryan, and Drew, Shannon's back in Louisville.
Starting point is 00:03:55 We are joined for one good post-trip show with Max Duffy. guys we got on plane yesterday morning it was early in the morning we woke up and it was dark in Cincinnati but we are back ready to rock I don't know even know what day it is when my alarm went off and I'm like why is my alarm going off what is I really I had no idea what day it was
Starting point is 00:04:18 you're not used to your alarms going off no no you know we got to sleep in a little bit it kind of felt like we were sleeping in we got up earlier every day on this trip because we were on the different coast I don't think we slept in one day Drew I'm not sure what he's talking about. Yeah, I was, I don't, I don't remember sleeping at either. But we wake up at 8 o'clock. That's 11 o'clock here. It felt like we were sleeping in. But we did the shows every day. So that means we got up in time to do the same show you're doing now. Yeah. But earlier. Yeah, but out there felt like we got to sleep in. I don't know what? I didn't feel like I was sleeping in.
Starting point is 00:04:49 I don't understand that logic of when the show started at eight and at times at seven, it felt earlier. But you know what? Drew, let him cook. He's fine. I'm glad he got well rested from the trip. I need a little bit longer. My back feels like I've been power bombed through a table. But between the ears, I'm excited to be back and looking forward to the week. Yeah, that's a long flight from Seattle, but it was good. There was a cat on the plane. Max, I hate that.
Starting point is 00:05:12 I don't understand how people just get to bring their cats and they just get to meow the entire flight. I don't know when we decided that was okay. But I guess we do. The last time I sort of complained about that, people got mad, so I won't. I will, however, complain about Mario, who takes more space on an airplane than anyone For a guy that little, he just, he had the middle seat yesterday. He decides elbow. He's Charles Oakley boxing out for a rebound sitting on the seat.
Starting point is 00:05:38 Elbows out. But you know what? I still like him and it was fine. I was in the middle row, middle seat in the back row with the seat that doesn't recline between two people. And I don't know. If there is a hell, I think that's it. I think I found actual hell. I heard that Mario took up a lot of space.
Starting point is 00:05:54 I slept during the whole thing and I must have been hilarious to watch because I was doing one of those moments where, like you sleep until your chin hits the front of your chest and then you bob back up and then for the next 10 minutes you're asleep and then you hit forward. I must have woken up 600 times. Well, we're all here and that's good after an excellent trip. Thank all of you. By the way, we're here at KSbar. You can come see us.
Starting point is 00:06:15 Got some folks already here today. Tomorrow, by the way, not only is it Wings Day, it's a Kentucky game. So I'd love to have you then as well. We are here. It was an awesome trip. culminating in the big win by Kentucky against Gonzaga. You know, Ryan, I was thinking about the game on the flight because I forgot my headphones and you have a lot of time to yourself in that.
Starting point is 00:06:39 That's the worst. And it was such an awesome game. I mean, the whole, we love the trip, but let's just focus for a second on the game. I mean, that game down 16, tie for the biggest comeback from a halftime deficit, big plays down the stretch. I went back and watched the television broadcasts and so many big plays by Robinson and Carr. Those were the big ones, but other guys contributed. It was just an awesome victory. It was an awesome game. It was, you know, two powerhouse teams, big shot after big shot. I mean, Kentucky would make a big shot. I mean, it was fun to watch. I don't know
Starting point is 00:07:17 how Kentucky won that game. I mean, I thought they were done early in the game. You don't have your point guard, Lamont Butler. Your backup point guard gets hurt in the second half. You got to Jackson, Robbins, not to run the point, but yet they did. They made the big play they had to do to come back and win that game. Yeah, I mean, that's easy to forget, Max. I mean, we didn't have Lamont Butler. And you, I bring that to you because I want to read you a text from the text machine. One person writes, Matt, I think it's amazing that an Australian,
Starting point is 00:07:45 who I didn't think would know the first thing about basketball was breaking down the games. I'm excited to hear what he thinks about the basketball game with more technical knowledge. Why does the R.C. know these things? Yeah, look, it might be hard to believe, but we've got in Australia electricity, we've got running water, our TV's work, full internet, housing, clothing, just all the regular things just like you guys. I mean, I think... And basketball. We do have, we do have gyms, hoops, the basketballs can be inflated. We've got air back home. So, no, we play a little bit of basketball back home. I mean, the Australian team's pretty good. There's probably 15 guys in the NBA. So it was good fun being on the basketball.
Starting point is 00:08:28 Back to Butler for a second. You know, I would be surprised if he plays tomorrow night too. I do expect a scene for the Louisville game. But to go out there and win without him, I think it's really an amazing testament. I thought at halftime, I remember thinking, well, I tell you, if they don't have him, they're not going to beat too many good teams. But then it just took them a half to prove me wrong. Yeah, I mean, anytime you beat a top 10 team like that. It's a good win, but it was really satisfying and how they did it. Coming back from down 16 at the half, making adjustments, doing it out your point guard, and then doing it without your backup point guard. They didn't shoot well from three. Everything was against them,
Starting point is 00:09:06 really, and they still managed to win that game. It just makes you wonder how good can they be when they're back to healthy, when the threes are going in, and they can start a game hot and not go down early. That is four games in a row, though, where we haven't made threes. I mean, we're now at 26 percent last four games for three. Is that worry you at all? I mean, it doesn't. I mean, but they've still been good. But does that worry you about? I guess you got to worry just a little because we know Kobe Bray as a better shooter than hitting the side of the backboard and throwing up an airball in the second half.
Starting point is 00:09:32 That's all the worst shots of ever seen. Yeah. And that's when I thought, oh, it's just not Kentucky's night. So I do think there are a much better shooting team than that. But, you know, Max hit on this. I think we saw on this trip the emergence of Jackson Robinson. Second half the Clemson game, something clicked with that guy. Played great second half, and then he kind of took over there in the second half against Gonzaga.
Starting point is 00:09:51 Yeah, he was great. If you go over the guys a little bit, Jackson Robinson and Andrew Carr, I think, have separated themselves as the two best players on the team. I mean, O-Way is still very good, but I think, you know, we've now seen a couple. I feel like O'Way was not quite ready for that moment against Gonzaga. I didn't feel like he wanted to shoot. He missed an open one, but I also just, it just didn't like he wanted to shoot as much, whereas Robinson and Carr looked like they feel completely comfortable. Amari feels comfortable. I still think sometimes maybe he should be a little less comfortable,
Starting point is 00:10:27 but he hit a big hook shot. That was a big shot in the game that he hit. I think that was in overtime that gave us a six-point lead. You know, Brea, I think also still looks a little shaky at the end of the game. So I think this team has found its two guys down the stretch. Max, I think it's going to be Robinson and Carr that get the big shots. And then Butler, when he's not hurt. I was going to say, you could probably add Butler to that group when he comes back
Starting point is 00:10:51 because I think he's pretty important. And in the Clemson game, in the Clemson game, he looked like he might have been the only one that could actually take someone off the dribble. So he did. He looked pretty good. To me, outside of the players, it was just the fact that we might have multiple ways to win a basketball game,
Starting point is 00:11:06 which is really important. I mean, if you're not having a good shooting night, you can't just go, well, we can't make threes. Or, you know, if you can't beat guys off the dribble, you just say, well, we can't beat guys off dribble. He found a way to come up with something in the second half, with the zone, switching up the defenses that stifled them, and it's good to know that you've got to coach.
Starting point is 00:11:21 and the team that can win multiple ways. And it culminated a great trip. I mean, like we've had, we had such a good time seeing everybody. We had such a good time in all of our stops. So every time we do these kind of trips, Drew, I try to like say, okay, what, you know, what are the moments that I'll remember the most, right? Sure. So I was thinking about this this morning, and I'll give you a couple for me.
Starting point is 00:11:48 number one was how many people who showed up in Fort Collins, Colorado, to watch that game. That was awesome. I mean, we say we're going to have a watch party. I thought we'd get eight or ten people, probably 40 to 50 people show up. The restaurant was not ready. To be fair, we tried to call them in advance and say, hey, there may be some people go there and they just blew us off. They were like, you could come, but nobody's, it'll be fine. And then all of a sudden, 50 people just show up in Fort Collins at this restaurant.
Starting point is 00:12:16 They didn't even offer to buy a mall. Mario's meal, who's the one that, who's the one that picked the restaurant. But nevertheless, having that kind of crowd to watch, even though we lost the game, was pretty amazing. It was awesome. They just kept coming and kept coming and kept coming and they started sharing their stories. You know, I went to Lafayette High School. You know, I'm from Pikeville, and they did you get to kind of reconnect with some fans out there.
Starting point is 00:12:38 I think the second thing on the trip was the emergence, Max, of Mario. It's just, it's just an amazing character. First of all, never found a human being in my life who literally could have, you know how they'll say there are like drugs and things that like you can't have them touch your body because you might die? If alcohol gets in Mario's vicinity, he's hammered, whether he drinks it or not. If you throw in Vale, Colorado where we hand him a menu at a Mexican restaurant and he asks why the menus are in Spanish when they're actually in English. And then he says, why are there no tacos? And it was because he had it upside down and asked what the so cats were. Those were.
Starting point is 00:13:26 Those are true stories. Those are both true stories. But then my favorite moment and the one I want to share is actually Saturday night. All right, I want you all to think about. We have the game. Awesome victory, right? We do the post game show. If you haven't listened to it yet, by the way, one of our most listened to postgame shows ever.
Starting point is 00:13:46 Was it really? On podcast. Not live because it was so late, but on podcast, we got up to the number six episode in America. I can't remember any KSR episode getting that during the NFL season ever. There's a massive bar of Kentucky fans. It's like a club in there. It's music. So when it's over, I mean, you have to remember, we had driven from eastern Oregon to Seattle in the morning through an ice storm,
Starting point is 00:14:14 gotten there, been there 30 minutes, just went on the air for the pregame show, immediately went to the game, immediately go on the air of the post game show. Our body's time clock say it's four in the morning. It's actually one in the morning. And as we walk out, I actually leave the bar a few minutes early. You know, Drew, just because I'm a little mentally exhausted, right? And I just, I'm standing outside. And I don't know if Mario is like, I don't know if he sees me.
Starting point is 00:14:44 And he thinks I'm sad or whatever. But he decides he's going to cheer me up. And let me just say, this was really nice. This is not like anything but nice. But he comes up and he goes, and I can, I mean, I can tell he's hammered immediately because he's taking lemon drop shots the entire post game show. And he comes up and he puts his arm around me and he goes, bro, bro. You're a man, bro.
Starting point is 00:15:11 Don't you be tell Don't you let people tell you You're not the man Of course No one had told me I wasn't to man Like he actually gets me almost paranoid Like what are people saying Why does he feel like he needs to cheer me up
Starting point is 00:15:29 I'm okay he was like you got talent You got town And he goes I'm here To take us to the next level And I was like really And he was like yeah I'm taking us to We're going to the next level.
Starting point is 00:15:43 National bro. National bro. National. He's like, you got national talent. We're going to the next level. I was like, oh, okay. Well, at this point, all the other guys walked out. And, you know, he said that.
Starting point is 00:15:53 So we're walking to our car. He said that to me a couple times now. And I go, what about the other guys? Right, try to take the focus off me. What about them? Oh, they're great too. He was Drew Franklin. You're funny.
Starting point is 00:16:05 You're a funny dude. That's a funny guy. Like, oh, that's good. That's good. Thanks, Mario. And then he goes, I go, what about Shannon? He's like, Shannon's sassy. He's a sassy one, but you need that balance on the show.
Starting point is 00:16:21 You need a sassy one. I said, what about Ryan living? He goes, he's a little inconsistent. Needs to be more consistent. He needs to be more consistent. And we all bust out laughing. We're like, what do you mean? He was like, he needs to be more consistent.
Starting point is 00:16:38 He's goofy. He's great. Just got to be more. consistent and then Max is aggity ball. Max is like, he was like, Ryan Lemon's keeping us from going to the next level. He was like,
Starting point is 00:16:50 yeah, that he's inconsistent. If Ryan would get more consistent, then we're headed to the next level. And he probably, so then we get, he talks for 20 straight minutes. The wall,
Starting point is 00:17:00 the entire walk, in a loop, hitting the same points. He did not take a breath for 20 minutes. Just Matt, you're talented. Drew your foot. Don't forget,
Starting point is 00:17:10 you're emotional, but good emotion. Yeah, he also said, Matt, your emotion. But in the good way. He was like, but in the good way, your emotions come out. That's good. And then Max would go, well, what about Ryan? He's just inconsistent.
Starting point is 00:17:20 He's just inconsistent. Over and over and over. He probably said the word inconsistent. 150 times. So, Ryan, we know you're inconsistent. I hope you've been working on your consistency because we need to hit the next level, and your consistency is going to be huge. I think at one point he called me the old head.
Starting point is 00:17:37 The old head. He did. He did. He did. It rides the old head. And then Max will go, but he's inconsistent. I mean, I got to tell you, I don't know that there'll ever be a time that I don't look at you and think inconsistent.
Starting point is 00:17:49 That 30-minute walk from the bar to our car will be one of the, it'll go down in KSR radio history of Mario breaking down a radio show. Mario breaking us all down. Max, I loved it. So trips like this, like you talk about teams going on the road and galvanizing together and, you know, becoming a better team. Well, we just found the emerging later. Like he was able to give straight feedback.
Starting point is 00:18:12 He gave it straight to our face. He told us what we needed to hear. He's Kirk Creaser. We've got to go to the next level. And I just could not. And, you know, when things get pointed out to you, too, you start realizing little things. Like, I hadn't even thought about it that way. But now I just see Ryan's inconsistency pop it up everywhere.
Starting point is 00:18:28 I mean, from then on, it was just inconsistent behavior after inconsistent behavior. Even at dinner, I felt like I wasn't being consistent enough. I tried to work on it. So, by the way, as we do this show in the conference, coming days. Just see if you see if rides get more consistent. We'll see how the leadership of Mario is working. 859-280-2287. We are now still ranked fifth in the country behind Duke. Was that a mistake? We'll talk about it next on KSR. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending, opinions are flying, and nobody's telling you
Starting point is 00:19:03 exactly what happened. That's where Sports Slice comes in. I'm Timbo. Every episode, we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the plays, the controversies, and the stories behind the headlines. We go straight to the source, the athletes themselves, their locker room stories, their reactions, the stuff nobody gets to hear. The laughs, the drama, the triumphs, the moments that never make the highlight real. From viral moments to historic games, from buzzer beaters to controversial calls, we break it down, give you context, and ask the questions everybody wants answered. Sports slice brings you closer to the action with stories told by the people who live them. Listen to Sports Slice. On the iHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Starting point is 00:19:44 Life 12 and the TikTok podcast network on TikTok. Hey, I'm Deanna Maria Riva, actress, mother, lover, and a Gen X woman walking through life one hot flash and hormonal crying jag at a time. You ladies know what I mean. I'll bet you a parameda Pousal chin here you do. So let's talk about it. Join me on my new podcast. How hard can it be with Deanna Maria Riva, where I call on my Gen X squads from Ohio to Hollywood as we navigate midlife's most fantastic BS. All of a sudden, I'd had hanginess happening on my own. I was like, what the hell is that? I was married when I had her, so I didn't even consider how empty that nest was going to be.
Starting point is 00:20:22 Mood swings, night sweats, fupas, sex drive. Wait, what sex? Dating at 45. How can it be getting naked at 50 with a new guy? That one's kind of hard. Well, that's lighting. They say we can't polish a turd, but we're sure going to try. So let's get blunt with laughs, tears, or tears of laughter, and dive in
Starting point is 00:20:39 into it unfiltered and unbothered and ask, how hard can it be? I cannot believe I'm about to say this out loud in public. Listen to How Hard Can It Be with Diana Maria Riva as part of My Cultura podcast network available on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defining the odds.
Starting point is 00:21:01 Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player. ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the
Starting point is 00:21:19 challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night bases on offense. And when IT's
Starting point is 00:21:35 friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers while he got the ball. Like, after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick.
Starting point is 00:21:50 Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. There are times when the mind becomes a difficult place to live. This is David Eagleman with the Inner Cosmos podcast, and for Mental Health Awareness Month, We're dedicating a series to understanding the mind when it struggles.
Starting point is 00:22:13 I'm joined by doctors, researchers, and those with lived experience. We'll talk with singer-songwriter Jewel about anxiety. I started living in my car, and then my car got stolen. I was shoplifting. I was having panic attacks. I was agoraphobic. And making it through hardship. To be present is a learned skill, and it's hard to be present.
Starting point is 00:22:35 We'll talk with John Nelson about clinical depression and the brain implant that saved his life. What I learned is that procedure made me happy because I'm disease-free. And we'll talk with leading experts like Judd Brewer about anxiety, and John Hirschfield about obsessive-compulsive disorder, and the science of how the brain can change. This is a month of deeply personal and honest conversations about what happens when the brain goes off course and what we can do about it. Listen to Inner Cosmos on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts,
Starting point is 00:23:10 or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, guys? This is Clivert Taylor the 4th. And on my podcast, The Cliverts Show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff, like being an internet famous referee. We're in the middle of a game. This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me,
Starting point is 00:23:28 he goes, A, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Time out. Quarterback on office. Blue of 42. Hey, Red. My mama want you to weigh better. What?
Starting point is 00:23:41 Hey, Miss Parker. Listen to the Clippers show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Welcome back, 90 Sports Radio. It's hard for me to set this up. Just remember this song. This is called Blood Solution. Pollution. Pollution.
Starting point is 00:24:11 Pollution? Blood pollution. Oh, I thought it was a solution. We were in a karaoke bar in Oregon. A guy got up and sang this, just like this, and it was one of my favorite moments of all time. Max, you had something. Yeah, so for the people listening,
Starting point is 00:24:26 you wouldn't have been able to see this. But, you know, we just made a point of it, and we go to the break. And what happens? Matt has to tell Ryan, you've got to put the mic close to your mouth. I mean, the inconsistencies are just everywhere. I totally agree with that.
Starting point is 00:24:39 You got to get that mic. You got to be more consistent to take us to the next level. That's exactly right. It's got to be national. It'll be national. The tax machine is 772-744-5-254. So Kentucky's fifth in the country. When you consider they lost a game that would normally be positive, however, you can't help but be a little annoyed that Duke is fourth with us being fifth.
Starting point is 00:25:02 Duke beat Auburn, however, the number one team in the country this week. And Louisville was actually leading in the second half, but Duke came back in one. We have only one loss. have two and we beat them, does it annoy you at all that we're, I thought fifth was about right for Kentucky, but I didn't like Duke being a head. That's really stupid. I mean, if only there were like a head-to-head matchup that could prove who's better at this stage. But if you're asking if I'm annoyed, I've thought that poll's been dumb for several years now that we watch it a little closer. When you see guys completely forget to put a vote in some weeks and things like that happen,
Starting point is 00:25:36 I mean, it's fun to have the ranking, the little number next to your school on the scoreboard when you're watching a game. But other than that, that poll has been meaningless to me for a while. It is stupid, though, that Duke's ahead of them. It doesn't make any sense, honestly. But who cares? I mean, it's a Friday.
Starting point is 00:25:50 Like Drew said, we've got plenty of time to keep looking our way up. Yeah. You are being very generous. It still annoys me. It's dumb. I mean, if you're going to have a poll, at least make it some. I mean, if we had the same record, I get it. They beat Auburn.
Starting point is 00:26:04 That's a great win. But they were at home. We played on the road. We've won neutral court games. against them and Gonzaga. They have beaten what? Auburn and they lost to Kansas, lost to us. Who did they beat?
Starting point is 00:26:20 They beat Arizona, which was a good win on the road, but I still feel like we should be ahead of them. Yeah, they have two losses, right? Kentucky's got one loss. But now they have probably played a harder schedule. Maybe so. But still. Two good wins they got last week,
Starting point is 00:26:34 if you count Louisville being a good win. I don't count Louisville. Like these guys said, these polls, they're just nothing for us to talk about. You know, it doesn't mean really anything until the end of the year. You don't even think it's worth talking about. It doesn't even bother you at all. They're only made up for us to talk about and for fans to talk about.
Starting point is 00:26:52 It really doesn't matter. It doesn't mean anything. Well, in that respect, nothing means anything. I mean, we're all just dust in the wind here. You're like being a philosopher now. Why are you wearing a turtleneck? It's a Nike three-quarter zip. Okay.
Starting point is 00:27:09 Well, it annoys me. It may not annoy you all, but it annoys me to put Duke ahead of us. I don't mind Tennessee, Auburn, Iowa State. There's a couple of teams that are even behind us that it wouldn't bother me if they were ahead. But when you beat a team heads up on a neutral floor, Duke, or Drew, you should be ahead of them. You just should. Yeah, Duke was 9th or 10th before the week. So, I mean, they moved up several places.
Starting point is 00:27:34 You could have just left them one spot behind Kentucky since they have the game that they played. All right, so do you think we finish the non-conference now with just one loss? I mean, basically we play Colgate, Louisville, Brown, and Ohio State. I mean, of those, Ohio State may be the hardest, but they've been bad this year, although they are going to get Aaron Bradshaw back for the game. I mean, if we finish the non-conference 12 and 1, is that not like a huge success? Massive success, absolutely massive. Louisville is going to be, I don't know why this Cape was going to be.
Starting point is 00:28:09 You got me more consistent. Come on, Max. I'm sorry. I'm sorry, Maria. Well, Louisville's much better, though. But I think we're going to be out of handle them. But Louisville is much better, which is going to make the game a little bit more entertaining than it's been in previous. Louisville is much better, but they cannot shoot.
Starting point is 00:28:23 Like, if you score 75 points, you beat them. They cannot shoot. They're actually pretty good defensively. But they are one of the worst shooting teams I've ever seen. I feel like we match up pretty well against them, although they are physical, so they'll try to beat us up a little bit. I think Kentucky's the better team right now, but I mean, anytime it's a robbery game, you never know. So as excited as I am about the win against Gonzaga, I won't be lying if there's a little bit of nervousness looking ahead to that. Oh, you are nervous like they could lose, but just anytime you're playing Louisville and since they just got us in football, you just don't want to drop.
Starting point is 00:28:56 I'm always nervous for the game. But if just objectively, I mean, they've lost one of their two best players due to injury. They actually played well against Duke, but the moment they started missing shots, they don't. just fell apart. I think Duke went on an 18-0 run in that game. I mean, are you nervous about it? No, I think this Kentucky team's much better than we even gave them credit for. I thought they'd have three losses going into conference play. They're only going to have one. They're going to win the rest of these games. They're a really good basketball team. They showed me something this week. Even the loss down in Clemson, they showed me some fighting, some grit and some toughness. Yeah, I mean, the
Starting point is 00:29:31 Clemson loss, we said before we left on the trip, the Clemson loss doesn't hurt you if you beat Gonzaga. You'd almost, if you told me we're going to go one and one, I'd rather get the game against Gonzaga than the game against Clemson. Yeah, and we learn a lot about this team against Clemson, I think, with a good road matchup. But the good thing about only having, well, hopefully one loss leading into conference play is that conference play is going to be a gauntlet. There's so many good SEC teams. So to get away with only one loss, non-conference is massive. Right now the SEC has five teams in the top 10. They have nine teams in the top 25.
Starting point is 00:30:04 They have 12 teams projected in the NCAA tournament. Just to give you a sense of that, if the SEC were to get 12 in, it would be the most teams of conference has ever gotten in in the history of the NCAA tournament. I saw Chris Patola. You may remember him. He's the Brooklyn. They go hard. That guy.
Starting point is 00:30:22 I heard him on TikTok. He was doing a little interview. He said he thinks the SEC this year may be the best league in the history of college basketball. Could be. I want you to think about that. the best league in the history of college basketball. So we're going to pick up a bunch of losses, but we're also going to have a strength of schedule
Starting point is 00:30:46 that's going to be like unbelievable going into the tournament. We'll take a break. Take your calls. 859-28027. Brooklyn, we go hard, we go hard. Brooklyn, they go hard. T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J., he'll make them pay.
Starting point is 00:31:08 of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. That was a great moment in UK basketball. Was that Jacob Topping, Shannon? Is that who was going hard, according to Subatola? That was awesome. On a duck. I loved it.
Starting point is 00:31:20 We have some breaking news. Uh-oh, hang on. Caught me off guard. Running on a. The owner of one of the major cockfighting venues in eastern Kentucky will spend eight months in home detention. Robert Baker of the white. Pittsburgh chicken pit has pleaded guilty to commit animal fighting, conspiracy to commit animal fighting.
Starting point is 00:31:46 He will be required to spend eight months in home detention, pay $85,000 to the government, and shut down the White'sburg chicken pit, believed to be the largest cockfighting arena in eastern Kentucky. First of all, he should have never named it the Whitesburg chicken pit. I mean, I think that gave police an indication, Drew, of, what might be going on. He should have called it like Whitesburg Building. I just don't think when you call it a chicken pit, people can be like, what's he mean by that?
Starting point is 00:32:16 I want to have a cover-up. Maybe a skating rink in there and throw him off my trail. You're to put a skating rink in. Okay. But, man, Kentucky, we are, we are just cracking down on all this. We are a couple years. This is what never happened if Matt Bevin was governor. He said if he was governor, he would just
Starting point is 00:32:30 let the cockfighting go. He was going to change the state bird to a cockfighting go. I guess I got to find something else to do this weekend, then. But the really nice thing about that, though, is, and we saw this in Seattle, is now those chickens get to go on and pursue other careers, like being a psychic. That's right. In Seattle, they have a chicken psychic. We didn't end up getting to go, but I wanted to get my fortune red. So there you go. Eastern Kentucky, you never know what's going to, you never know the headline that's going to come out of White'sburg, but they are stopping that crime. I want to go to the
Starting point is 00:33:02 phones, but we do have to talk for just a minute about Luigi. The whole country is talking about Luigi, the guy who allegedly shot the insurance person. First of all, on a serious note, it's amazing to me that anyone is still cheering this person on. But it goes to show how weird America is sometimes that people would be cheering on a person who literally murdered someone in cold blood. Shot him in the back. Shot him in the back. But he has now been caught.
Starting point is 00:33:32 The way he was caught, though, I mean, next to Eric's secret. Khan and the Hardee's in Honduras. This is up there. He had hidden for five days from the NYPD police, the FBI. They catch him in Altoona, Pennsylvania at a McDonald's because he stopped in to get breakfast, and one of the workers at McDonald's spotted him and called the police. A few amazing things to me about this story. Let's start with the person that worked at McDonald's.
Starting point is 00:34:06 Would you have recognized him based just on that picture of him pulling down to flirt with the girl in the mask? Like, if you're in Altoona, Pennsylvania, you can't assume he's going to be there. Like, that's just a town in Pennsylvania. Kind of amazing that they recognized him, right? Yeah, he should have done something with those eyebrows before committing his crime. As someone with some pretty big eyebrows, those things are monsters. And the person even said, that's what gave it away. Oh, did they?
Starting point is 00:34:34 I didn't realize that. Yeah, the eyebrows got it. I think you should have gotten an eyebrow wax. Okay. And only the two images we had online that were released to spot him at a McDonald's and to be confident enough to call it in. That's pretty crazy. That's kind of amazing.
Starting point is 00:34:46 That person needs to stop working at McDonald's and be a detective. Be a detective, I agree. Did you see, to your point about the people rooting for the guy, they have flooded that McDonald's with one-star reviews and saying their employees are rats and snitches? Yeah, I mean, of course they should have tried to catch him. Like, I don't get, now it's come out. Of course, he was rich himself. So like everybody, especially people, people on my side of the aisle acted like a fool about this stuff.
Starting point is 00:35:11 Like, they acted like a fool about him, like acting like he was some sort of hero. It made, it genuinely made me mad the way people on the left were acting. But now they're switching their tune because it turns out he was like a Joe Rogan guy. And he liked, like, right wing stuff. So now they're like, so ridiculous, all of them. But anyway, so he gets caught. he had on him, Max, a paper bag with his gun and a manifesto of why he had killed the guy. Here's a little secret.
Starting point is 00:35:47 What are you doing? You've basically now given the police and the prosecutors premeditated murder. Like, you basically, I mean, he was probably going to get charged with that anyway, but now they can prove you did it on purpose because they have him writing why he was going to, do it. Unbelievable. He was carrying it around. He had it with him at McDonald's. Was he just getting a sausage McMuffin before he turned himself in? Like, why did he, why did he not go through the drive-throat? I have the exact same question. So he clearly was not the criminal mastermind that we thought he was because he got caught in Al-Tuna with all of the stuff on him,
Starting point is 00:36:26 right? When I saw that, was he going to mail the manifesto into a newspaper or a TV station or something? Why was he carrying around? He hand wrote it. I thought I was the last person in America that hand wrote anything. I mean, I'm going to handwrite my final exam tonight and then try to cut that tight. Like, I didn't know people hand wrote anything anymore. Well, did you see his YouTube video that went up? I've not seen his YouTube.
Starting point is 00:36:47 Hours after his arrest, he had a scheduled video that went up and it says, like, if you're watching this, I've been arrested, and it says something about more to come, and it says December 11th at the end. So people are speculating what kind of plan he might have or what he could possibly be doing. I think he's just going to be an idiot. I think the fact that he got caught at McDonald's makes me think he is not. Like, everybody likes to give these people superhuman powers. I think he's just, I think he's just an idiot.
Starting point is 00:37:14 I just can't believe. I mean, I understand there are women that think he's hot. And I get, like, remember, that was like that with the Menendez brothers. Oh, yes. Many years ago. Still, though, he murdered a guy. Like, like, I don't care. Of course health care costs too much, but he murdered a guy right.
Starting point is 00:37:31 Like, it's unbelievable to me. That guy was still somebody's husband, somebody's dad, somebody's brother. You know, that's what's the sad part about it was. Kudos, like we said, the person at McDonald's recognized somebody like that in Altoona, Pennsylvania, be like, if he walked in here in Lexington, you think anybody would recognize him here? I wouldn't.
Starting point is 00:37:47 No. Now, the fact he is named Luigi. That is funny. Okay. And we, of course, have a Mario on staff. So I think that, the Luigi part, did you see that, you know, when Luigi wears like a, a thing on his hat that's green and says L.
Starting point is 00:38:04 You know, I mean, if you watched Mario and Luigi, Amazon sold 100,000 toboggins that Luigi toboggins yesterday. I did see that. I did not see that. A hundred thousand. If you want living proof that we as Americans are the most ridiculous people on earth, a hundred thousand Luigi toboggins yesterday. I saw Macy's.com sold out of the jacket.
Starting point is 00:38:30 he was wearing in the surveillance. Someone found out that it's Levi's. And I mean, you can't, that jacket is now completely sold out across the country. Unbelievable. Who's up for shit? Let's go to Adam. Adam. Adam. Go ahead, Adam.
Starting point is 00:38:42 Hey, guys. I wanted to call it in after the Duke game, gave you all a scenario of over under 24 and a half wins. I think everybody took 25 and 6. So I wanted to give you all another scenario. The first third of our SEC schedule is a top ten. Florida team at home. Yes. At Georgia, at top 25 Mississippi State.
Starting point is 00:39:05 Yes. Top 25 A&M at home. Top 10 Alabama at home and at Vandy. So of those six games, over three and a half wins? That's a great question. I'm going to say over. I mean, we do have a very hard SEC schedule. But I don't know that you can have an easy SEC schedule
Starting point is 00:39:26 because I don't think anybody's bad except maybe South Carolina. Like, I don't think there's going to be... The problem is we could probably do that for every little thing. But let me... Let's go through the first, like he just did, the first part of the SEC. We play Florida at home. Florida's ranked number nine. We go to Georgia on the road.
Starting point is 00:39:44 That may be, in theory, one of the easier road games we have, but they're all right this year as well. Then we go to Mississippi State. They're ranked. Hosts A&M at home. They're ranked. Host Alabama. They're ranked. Go to Vandy.
Starting point is 00:39:58 Then go to Tennessee. They're number one. Then Arkansas at home, there might be some stuff with that. Go to Old Miss. So I have to get to February 8th when we host South Carolina to find a game that's at home against an unranked team. And then after that, Tennessee at home, at Texas, Vandy at home, at Alabama, at number 13, Oklahoma, Auburn, number two,
Starting point is 00:40:30 at home, LSU at home, finish at Missouri. We actually, the two of the three or four easiest games are at the end. And by the way, Missouri just beat number one Kansas. I mean, this schedule is unbelievable. There's like two games in here that are easy, maybe. Vandy at home and like LSU at home. Everything else, you could lose any of these games, Ryan. Like this, the SEC is going to be crazy.
Starting point is 00:40:58 Talk about the, you know, the caller was talking about the first six games. February is brutal. That month of February is brutal for Kentucky. And like Shannon's going to tell you, Vandy's 9-1 right now. You mentioned Missouri, the beat number one. Kansas, there's a lot of tough teams in the conference, not just the ranked teams. So I don't know. I honestly don't know how you, I don't know how you say that this.
Starting point is 00:41:20 We could lose a lot, a lot of games, Drew. And in those that run of like the first eight or nine games, the unranked opponent is Arkansas. Maybe the biggest game on the schedule. It's a bunch of ranked teams and then John Caliperi coming to Lexington. Yeah, and I think that John Caliperie game is going to be a little difficult. They'll be a little tough as well. It might be a lot of attention on that way.
Starting point is 00:41:39 Unbelievable, unbelievable schedule. Clayton and Kroom was founded on a simple idea. All leather goods should last a lifetime. Hey, I'm Deanna Maria Riva, actress, mother, lover, and a Gen X woman walking through life one hot flash and hormonal crying jag at a time. You ladies know what I mean. I'll bet you a perimenopausal chin here you do.
Starting point is 00:43:12 So let's talk about it. I was married when I had her, so I didn't even consider how empty that Ness was going to be. Mood swings, night sweats, fupas, sex drive. Wait, what sex?
Starting point is 00:43:40 Dating at 45. How can it be getting naked at 50 with the new guy? That one's kind of hard, you know? Well, that's lighting. They say we can't polish a turd, but we're sure going to try. So let's get blunt with laughs, tears or tears of laughter, and dive into it, unfiltered and unbothered and ask, how hard can it be? I cannot believe I'm about to say this out loud in public.
Starting point is 00:44:00 Listen to How Hard Can It Be with Diana Maria Riva as part of My Cultura Podcast Network available on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defying the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
Starting point is 00:44:23 His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. he knows. Without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nass would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying.
Starting point is 00:44:56 man, he running up the court, licking his fingers while he got the ball, like, after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:45:13 There are times when the mind becomes a difficult place to live. This is David Eagleman with the Inner Cosmos podcast, and for Mental Health Awareness Month, we're dedicating a series to understanding the mind when it struggles. I'm joined by doctors, researchers, and those with lived experience. We'll talk with singer-songwriter Jewel about anxiety. I started living in my car, and then my car got stolen.
Starting point is 00:45:38 I was shoplifting. I was having panic attacks. I was agoraphobic. And making it through hardship. To be present is a learned skill, and it's hard to be present. We'll talk with John Nelson about clinical depression and the brain implant that saved his life. What I learned is the procedure made me happy because I'm disease-free. And we'll talk with leading experts like Judd Brewer about anxiety
Starting point is 00:46:04 and John Hirschfield about obsessive-compulsive disorder and the science of how the brain can change. This is a month of deeply personal and honest conversations about what happens when the brain goes off course and what we can do about it. Listen to Inner Cosmos on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, guys?
Starting point is 00:46:29 This is Clever Taylor the 4th. And on my podcast, The Cliverts Show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff. Like being an internet famous referee. We're in the middle of a game. This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me. He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
Starting point is 00:46:45 What? Time out. Quarterback on office blue with 42. A rep, my mama want you to wave at her. What? Where's she at? Hey, Miss Parker. Listen to the Clippers show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:47:09 Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio. They just announced that Creed is coming to Rupp Arena. You like Creed, Ryan? I do like Creed, yes. You do like Creed. I like Creed. You're right there, Shannon? Yeah, we were having some issues here, so the commercials just started automatically playing.
Starting point is 00:47:24 All right, we'll tell them to stop. Do you like Creed? I like Creed. Yeah. I wouldn't mind going to that concert. I'm not really much of a fan. Creed kind of sucks. No, I'm going.
Starting point is 00:47:34 You're going? Can't wait. Really? Creed gets so much hate. When Higher came out, that was one of the best songs of all time. Here's what happened. Like, the TikTok Gen Z crowd made Creed cool again. You know?
Starting point is 00:47:45 Yeah, but they're not. Is that right? Yeah. So kids like Creed again? Creed came back thanks to TikTok and Gen Z. Wow. I didn't know that. It's kind of cool to sing that voice walking around the house sometimes.
Starting point is 00:47:55 Like, you just sound a lot cooler when you sing like that. Do you do that? Do you walk around singing and do this play? You just sounded cooler. That's true. I did, actually. I think you're right. I think we got one step closer to going national.
Starting point is 00:48:09 859-280-2287. One person writes, Matt, I'm not surprised that America has fallen for Luigi. We fall for stupid things all the time. I mean, that's true. But like, this is a little different. This is a murder. Like, this isn't just somebody who did. an amazing dance.
Starting point is 00:48:30 This is someone that actually, and it turns out like he's from this rich Baltimore family, like this old money. You know, I do like that it turns out, because I was so annoyed at the people on my side that I was celebrating him that I'm glad that like now he's everything they don't like because it was stupid for you to celebrate him from the beginning. It was just, I didn't like that. And I'm normally a person who will laugh at things. But come on, you don't celebrate people who murder on the streets of New York.
Starting point is 00:49:04 Shooting somebody in the back. In the back. It's 6.45 in the morning. We can all agree the health care industry needs a lot of correcting, but that's an extreme measure. And do people not think they're just going to replace that guy with someone else who will do the same things? Like, you didn't accomplish anything? It's definitely premeditated because he had to drove a bike, got into a car, went on a bus.
Starting point is 00:49:26 Like, he had it all planned out what he was going to do. Well, I think him running and getting on a bike was probably more just being scared. Because, I mean, I don't think that would have been the smartest getaway plan was to go get on a bike in Central Park. And then going to McDonald's. Pennsylvania, not that far away. The McDonald's. Yeah, you're not even that far away, dude. But who's up next?
Starting point is 00:49:49 Let's go to Richard. Richard. What's up, Richard? Well, we can shoot, which played a similar style of ball. Yeah. All I got for you, just let me know how. Thank you, Richard.
Starting point is 00:50:21 Man, he's loud. Like, he does not have a problem keeping the mic close to his mouth. He's very consistent. He is very consistently loud. I think that's true. The one three one, probably the turning point in the game, right?
Starting point is 00:50:37 I mean, like, when we went to one three one, started in a straight one three one, then it sort of would morph for it. It would start as a one three one. Then when they made, I think Pope said the third pass He would switch to man to man.
Starting point is 00:50:49 Really confused B. Y, or Gonzaga the whole time. Yeah, it was probably maybe seven possessions or something. I thought even before that, though, just our – we started going underneath screens and just letting them shoot if you wanted to, just daring him to shoot, which I thought was good. Again, it's good to be able to win multiple ways. Like, that's going to be important. And that's kind of gone away from the last few years where it's just we do what we do, and if we're better than we're going to win.
Starting point is 00:51:12 Now it's like, all right, if they're on top of us, this, we can make these adjustments and play, which is going to be important, because as they say, Blasbill's going to be really hard. That was very, Keen-O-Cow. You always was, we play the way we play, make people adjust to us. It looks like Pope will adjust to the opponent. There won't be an instant where they're going to make adjustments at halftime.
Starting point is 00:51:29 You know, coming out and putting that one-three-one zone on, maybe he knew something from playing Gonzaga in the past. Maybe when he was at BYU, you know. He said in the post game, I asked him about it, Drew, and he said, well, when you're getting your butt kicked, you might as well try something else, which I like that viewpoint, honestly. Yeah, I love it.
Starting point is 00:51:46 Everyone listening love the second half adjustments. If I can be a little picky, next time in one of these big games, let's just come out with a little more fire because against Duke and it gets Gonzaga. If we're all being honest, five or ten minutes in, I don't think anyone expected to win. Kentucky looked like two different teams at the start and finish of each game. The number one player in America, AJ Daubanza?
Starting point is 00:52:05 He just committed to BYU. I mean, we were just in Provo, Utah. you're the number one player in America. I'm sure you got a lot of money, but he could have gotten a lot of money anywhere. Why go to BYU? We were on campus. We saw how friendly everybody was.
Starting point is 00:52:25 They were all very friendly. Very, very friendly. It is pretty, if not for the smog that day. He's from Massachusetts, and for his senior year, he transferred to a Utah school. So, I mean, it seems the coogs are taking good care of him.
Starting point is 00:52:39 I will say this about BYU, and this is not to make fun. I find, collectively Mormon people to be the nicest people on Earth. Totally. That's not me exaggerate. They're the nice people on Earth. I will say, though, there is a sense of,
Starting point is 00:52:59 if you ever saw that movie Pleasantville, love that movie. That when you walk on BYU's campus, everybody's just smiling like, hey, hey, everyone. Like, everybody has a smile that's like, way over the top, but they were also very nice. Literally, have you ever been anywhere where people just come up to you and invite you to go to dances? That's what they did there.
Starting point is 00:53:26 Mario. People just walked up and were like, would you like to go to the 80s B-Bop? The winter ball is Saturday. And like, everyone was so happy. Maybe that's what happened with AJ DeBonsa. He showed up on campus and he was like, well, the winter ball is Saturday. I could go. You couldn't pay me enough money to have to walk around that campus more than one day a year.
Starting point is 00:53:47 I mean, there's bodies in their backyards. I know it for sure. Their smile was too weird. And if we learn anything from this trip, what you want in life is some honest feedback. You don't need smiles, niceties, you know, telling you're doing really good. You need honest feedback so you can grow and get better. Isn't that right, Ryan? Well, we enjoyed the BYU bookstore.
Starting point is 00:54:06 Bought a couple of Christmas presents. Ryan continued his, I'll buy my son a Christmas present. If it's on the discount rack. That's where he bought all of his Christmas presents the entire time. I liked it, though. I enjoyed BYU. I'm just surprised that the number one player in America that that's where they'd want to go. I'll tell you another thing I was surprised about.
Starting point is 00:54:26 I had no idea about the geography of eastern Oregon and eastern Washington. That's a part of, like, many of you out there, unless you've been there, I didn't realize like it's like a forest. Well, it's not like a forest. It is a forest. There's no place in America except maybe like Vermont that has that, I guess I just never thought about that part of the country. Huge forest up and down and windy and like freezing snow capped.
Starting point is 00:55:00 I mean, I'd never, I guess I'd never been out there. That's a completely different part of the country. It is. And we saw, first, you know, the flatlands in Nebraska, then the mountains in Colorado. But you're right. The hills of eastern Oregon and eastern Washington, it is different. The Oregon basketball floor is all trees. Yeah, well, when I think of Oregon and Washington, I think of Seattle, Portland.
Starting point is 00:55:24 I think of like the rocks on the ocean. Most of it is trees. Like go from Portland and Seattle, go east, and you're like, man, this is a lot of blank space. It's a lot of trees, and it's a lot of forests. guess I just Drew never thought about it. Yeah, and you get a little Mount Rainier. We drove around that. It's just like it's hard.
Starting point is 00:55:46 You don't really see forests and mountains like that except that area. That area is beautiful, but it's also very different than anywhere else I'd been in the U.S. We will take a break and come back. We'll talk about some football. A lot going on. This is KSR.
