We are here at KS. Bar.
We'll be here Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.
We will not be here tomorrow, but Monday, Wednesday, Thursday,
and Friday. We will be here. A rare Friday here at the bars. We don't have a remote.
But today is all about celebrating the cat's victory over the cards, Ryan Lemon. It was a battle,
kind of four to ten points throughout the game. Kentucky never could put it away, but also
never was down, but got the victory. Fun game to watch, yeah. It kind of felt like, to me,
that the rivalry was back a little bit, you know, after the last couple of years,
we can't even being over there. There wasn't much of a game. That was a pretty good
game you know they cut it to did they get it to two and only cut it to three in a
second half in the in the second half but you know when kentucky jumped out 14 to
five that nine point cushion kind of it was pretty even after that you know kind of carried
him throughout the game was even except for the first three or four minutes drew it was basically you
were there loud crowd oh yes as rome was saying it feels good to have some juice back in that rivalry
it wasn't quite the first cow when when they were fighting you know had the swap shower elbow from cousins
and, you know, messing with the wrong guy with that bletzo.
But it did feel like there was some fire in this new air again.
Of course, they had the little scene over at the bench,
but the fans were great.
Really, I was shocked.
There wasn't much red in there at all.
I thought they'd have a little bit.
They didn't travel well.
But overall, that was brought its fastball.
Their fan base still seems oddly apathetic to me,
which is strange because I actually think their team is pretty good.
I mean, you know, I came away.
I came way with a few thoughts.
So you can kind of jump in as we go on them.
My first thought was, you know, this is a game where you needed to win and they just took care of business, right?
They did kind of just enough to win.
And the big guys stepped up, right?
I mean, Lamont Butler, that goes down as one of the best U of L performances ever.
10 of 10, 33 points, doesn't miss a shot except at the free throw line.
And by the way, are free throws?
problem? Do we need to start talking about our free throws for our team?
Because we're not very good at them.
Gonzaga game, they were perfect from the free throw line until overtime.
You know, we kind of oversee that.
But, yeah, it does seem like they miss a lot of free throws.
They missed a lot of free throws.
But otherwise, Lamont Butler, perfect in the game.
That was big.
O-A did not play well for 36 minutes, but then had like a great final four minutes to
help us get the victory.
The juice was in there, right?
They get in the fight.
You know, I can tell you that.
one dude who's out for the year with the goggles from BYU.
I'm not going to like that guy because he was talking a lot of trash.
Ali, whatever his name is.
Yeah, Califah, like he was doing the, you're too short.
I'm not going to like that.
Louisville already has the player they hate, which is Brandon Garrison.
They kept saying he played dirty.
I didn't think that during the game.
Did you?
No, I never saw it.
I thought he played pretty well, actually.
You know, him and Marie Williams both had four assists.
I think they're probably the best passing big men we've had since
Chuck Hayes and Eric Daniels.
Well, so, okay.
Slow down.
Yeah.
You think they're the best passing big man such a bet, really?
Yeah, I think so.
Okay.
The way they're able to get at the high post and pick it out.
They make too many turnovers, though, to give that kind of nod to.
I mean, they do make great assists, but they also, they also turn it over quite a bit.
I thought they both played really well.
Both of the guys did play real big guys play pretty well.
That's interesting because I take the exact opposite view.
I thought the team was better when we went with Carr at the center, and we
played those four guys. Ronsel right on their passing though they are turnover prone but uh one of
of the analytical sites Evan Maya one of those did the top 20 passers in college basketball and they were
both pretty high up on the list Kentucky had two of the top big man now they do when they try to dribble
when they dribble that's a different conversation we don't learn to dribble that's a different
conversation even when they're in the post in the dribble they pound it I'm just not I'm not a big
I agree with you this is across the board all of them I feel like where there be an offensive rebound when
they first get it. They need to go straight up strong.
They pump fake a little too much.
They're playing a little too below the rim.
Cars guilty of that also.
You know, when I was a little kid,
Bob Green, who was the coach of our junior pro team,
everybody remembers those historic Middlesbril
Junior Pro teams, don't they?
He was big on the pump fake, right?
Just the B-O-Green, not the B-O-B-B.
This is not the B-O-B-B.
This is the B-O.
This is the B-O.
This is the B-O. I didn't know.
That was the grandfather.
Oh, because remember the
grandfather was was bow the dad was bob and then my friend became boba and his son is bo-bob
yeah his son is bo-bob bob bob no he's not um but but bob he was big on the pump fake
he'd always he'd always look at at the bigs i was a big at that you were a big and go pump fake i feel like
bob green went into overtime with this uk team there's too much but i mean Kobe bray is pump faking on
every three just shoot man like you're like you look at
There was a moment.
I think it was Amari.
If he had just gone wide open dunk, but he held on to it too long.
Why doesn't he dunk?
Why doesn't he dunk?
But Mario, you were friends with them.
Tell him the dunk.
Just say Amari.
I mean, his name has a lot of the same letters as yours.
That's great.
It does.
A Mari, Mari, O.
It's just one, like, there's one letter difference.
Just say to him, make him O-Mari and tell him to dunk,
because I miss the dunk.
with him. And when he does do that, when he's down on the post, he gets the ball, makes a strong move.
He's usually successful, so why not?
But back to what I'm saying about the team. Jackson Robinson, I thought, made a couple big plays.
Brea hit maybe the biggest shot of the game when Louisville was making the run and cut it to three,
and then he had a contested three that I thought was huge.
A lot of guys contributed, but it was the Lamont Butler game.
And, you know, for Butler, the dude didn't play for a week and a half.
Even during our pregame show, we weren't for sure if he was even going to play.
Nobody knew he's going to play.
He walks on the court for warm-ups an hour before tip-off,
and then he has the game that you said will always be remembered as little mom-bogg-old.
He only had seven on the year.
He gets six in one day, and they were all big.
I mean, they were usually at a time we needed him to make it, and he did.
Six for six from three, six rebounds.
We all knew he needed to play to go well for Kentucky,
but no one expected anything like that.
And he also was just leading them.
He was a little spicy.
I don't know if he's made on TV, but he got called for a walk,
and then he scored on the next time down
and he made up like a walk dance where he was doing this
to celebrate kind of taunting the had just been called
for a travel. So he was putting the
L's down. I mean, I was really
impressed with their energy throughout the game. It got a little
closer than we wanted. They could never make that
next shot or Louisville would always respond to their credit.
They got it to 10. They got it to 10 like
six or seven times
and they just couldn't get it over
10. Louisville would come down and hit a three
usually Edwards or Hepburn
would hit a three. Those two guys
played really, really well.
We, you know, we can't defend on the perimeter.
I mean, with the exception of Lamont, but even Lamont is, I mean, we get taken on defense,
but then we came right back, a lot of middle toughness with this group.
Yeah, you know, when they did a switch, and Jackson Robinson had to guard one of those guys,
they took advantage of that, you know.
Oh, and Brea when he was on him.
Brea, for sure, yeah, absolutely.
But, you know, Chuckie Hepburn's good, man.
He's a good player.
And they're a pretty good team.
It just feels good to have that rivalry back.
We can look forward to beating him again.
Edwards was making a lot of threes.
Foul Trouble kind of helped.
Foul Trouble did help us with Edwards,
although he still ended up playing 30 minutes.
It did feel like the minutes he didn't matter.
He wasn't in.
Speaking of a minute, it's not him.
When Butler wasn't him, we're not the same team.
No.
We're just not.
I mean, when Butler's not in,
when he comes out, it's just not the same.
Where I think you really feel it,
we struggled defensively, but we really struggle.
We can't get any ball movement without Butler.
It's amazing how important he is to the team.
They tried to sneak him a little rest.
You know, Travis would come in right before the TV timeouts.
But it's just not the same.
Not the same.
So even though it was his first game back, I still think he probably had team high in minutes.
I think he was like 33 minutes.
That may be the most on the team.
So, yeah, he is the most valuable.
May not be the leading score, but he's the most valuable member of this team right now.
Pat Kelsey says their nose arc.
They have two of everything.
They don't have two of him.
by far the most important player on the team. Did he say that? He said we were Noah's
art. He said that a couple times this year. Kentucky has two of everything, but they don't
have two Lamont Bullers. He's the most important. You know I'm anti-nicknamed,
right? Very anti-like forcing a nickname. But I will say,
oh no. I mean, I don't think we want to call them this because I'm not sure it's a
compliment, exactly. Although I think it's meant as a compliment. But I will say
if you were trying to say what they are the most like.
What are you laughing at?
I didn't tickle under what's coming.
What are you laughing at?
You're going to bring them a nickname.
I don't, I'm not pro nickname.
Shannon, you know I'm not pro nickname.
But you like this one.
Most of them are terrible.
Most of them are terrible, but this one,
it,
what do you stop looking at me?
There's a, I could see this one.
Okay, what is it?
A guy called in,
said, and by the way, this is not an offer for you to call in and give me any nicknames
today.
But you could.
No, we want to hear them.
No, I don't want to hear them.
Okay.
But somebody called in and he said, the stray cats.
Because they all came from all over.
Yeah.
Right?
They sort of ended up here.
We're feeding them.
We're giving them milk.
We're giving them milk.
They've come together.
Now, I know that's not, like, we're not going to say.
you aren't going to chant stray cats.
And I'm not even sure it's totally a compliment.
But I actually think it's not bad as a description, Ryan, of what they are.
Because they're all kind of like strays.
They strayed from Drexel and Fairley Dickinson and Wake Forest.
And they just, they just sort of strayed in.
Stray cats are usually like nasty, mean, feral animals.
But they are kind of nasty, right?
Like they all have like nasty traits, you know?
They'll fight you.
Amari is going to dribble, whether you want.
want him to or not.
You know, Butler's tough.
Brea can't guard anybody but he's the best shooter in the country.
I don't hate it.
Just when I think of stray cats, they kind of come out of the gutter.
Nobody wanted them.
They end up at Shannon's house and he's cat sitting.
Shannon's the authority on stray cats.
What do you say?
Yeah, I don't, I mean, it's, I guess, a good name, but the thought of a stray cat.
It's a homeless cat with matted hair and dirty.
It's not homeless.
It's not homeless.
It can be a cute cat, and it just wonders.
In definition, that's a stray cat.
They're homeless.
They're looking for a home.
It's not.
Okay, but homeless cats have dignity, too.
And I'm saying,
all right, fine, I'm not just saying
of the names I've heard.
It's better than the Remarkables.
We're not calling them the homeless cat.
Okay.
I got another one, though.
Okay.
Now, here we go.
Because they're three-point shooters.
Here we go.
Mark Pope went out and got them.
How about Marksmen?
They're marksmen.
They're marksmen.
See, we need to have.
everybody calling with their own suggestions. First of all, I do not want any suggestions.
Marksman, though, is like, that's like that stray cats is better. Anyway, the point is, we beat
Louisville. We beat Louisville. With the marksman. Do you get a sense? I kind of have the feeling.
It feels to me like Louisville fans. That was, they should be happy. That was a tough performance by
them. Hepburn and Edwards were great. The one, what was the big, the big white dude's name? He played
Well, Waterman, he played well.
Like they, you know, the little lefty, he ran around and gave us some problems as well.
Like, they're a decent team.
And yet, I'm with you, Drew.
It feels like their fans have just given up that their souls are just out.
Like, there was no trash talking.
There were like six Louisville people at the game.
It's odd to me.
This should be a team they love and embrace.
Why don't they do it?
We're not a moral victory school, but they definitely are.
And that was a big moral victory for it.
Should be.
Did Kenny Payne break them?
Remember last year?
I think they're broken.
Last year there were more Kentucky fans in Louisville than Louisville fans, and it was a blowout.
Yeah.
That might have just been the it for them.
Are you surprised?
They should be excited about what they have.
They should be excited.
I was very impressed with that Louisville team, and I kind of like Pat Kelsey.
Wendell Boney, Pat Gousie.
Like he's kind of sweet, like a little like doll.
And then, you know, I don't picture him and Pope.
I generally feel bad for him.
I do feel bad for him.
That's a tough spot to put him in.
I do feel bad for him.
It's like when you see a really tall woman and they're dating a little short guy,
and they may have the best personality, but you can't help but feel a little bit bad for them.
I think that's kind of how it is.
This program only won, what, 10 games in the last two years?
You've got a good team.
You blew out one of your rivals, Indiana, played your other rival pretty well on their home floor.
You should be excited about the team.
He's like having to offer free cheese and crackers to come to the games.
I feel like if I'm a Louisville fan, I would look at the time.
that game Saturday and feel good about my program.
And it just doesn't feel like they're doing it.
I mean, he's such a sweet little coach.
I mean, you just, I don't know, you should be excited.
The stray cats, though, the thing is a remarkable win.
It was a remarkable win.
Okay, stop.
859-280, 2287.
The cats take down Louisville.
We will take your calls.

What's up, fam.
It's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm CJ Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defined
the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows without Luca and Austin
Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the
playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy
in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has
to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson,
we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nass would get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
He running the court, licking his fingers why he got the ball.
Like, after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah,
you figure it out real quick.
Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball.

We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker walks up to me, he goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.

Hey, Miss Parker.

app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.
See, Shannon, I thought you were going to be on my side on the stray cats because you take
all those stray cats in.
I like the name in theory, but then you start talking about a wet, matted-haired cat.
I don't know why it's got to be wet.
Just dry it all.
Because he's out in the cold and the rain and he's eaten out of a garbage can.
So do you still have your stray cat?
No, it wandered off.
Let me tell you about this cat.
It showed up and we started feeding it, which was a bad idea for anybody.
Yeah, you shouldn't do that.
So then we, Sarah bought it a collar, put a collar on it.
That's nice of it.
Bought it a house for outside.
Yeah.
Bought it a 20-pound bag of cat food.
Oh, that's nice.
Cat runs off.
Oh, so the cat left you?
We were treating the cat like a king.
It just left us.
Wow.
So, I mean, so the cat would rather be homeless than hang out with you.
Exactly.
So I'm wondering, is that what's going to happen with our basketball team?
They all just leave.
You think they all just leave?
Yeah, I mean, in the portal area.
They may do that.
But wow, I've never heard of someone who couldn't keep a stray cat.
Now people are tagging us on Facebook going, hey, we found your cat.
Well, the cat ran off.
Like, I can't make the cat stay at my house.
Oh, wow.
You can't have it arrested.
It's not come home.
Not my cat.
A stray cat's going to do what stray cat's going to do.
I guess they are.
Well, speaking of stray cats, what did you think of the headlock?
Mark Pope put Pat Kelsey in.
First of all, I love the scuffle that happened.
Loved it.
Loved it.
You got to have a little fire, a little spout.
spice in this game in his rivalry. Everybody was just like chest out. Yeah.
Like chest out. Come get some, but nobody threw a punch. Nobody pushed.
No, no one I didn't see it live when Mark Pope appeared to have Pat Kelsey to headlock,
but when that picture came out, I got to admit I laughed. I mean, it's kind of funny. It's kind of
unfair for Kelsey because I don't think he really had him in a headlock, but it kind of looks like he
had him in a headlock. And so it makes poor, it makes him look just a little, a little
little little. Yeah, I mean, they're just standing next to each other with Pope had his arm out a little bit,
It just happens to look like he's got him in an OVW move.
That was another one.
Side headline.
Again, I can't believe I'm being sympathetic, but just a tough spot for him to be in at 5-0.
And it's like, really, I got to go against the seven-footer.
I did like there was one punch thrown.
Pope popped Waterman as he walked by jokingly because he coached him at BYU.
But if you don't know, you coached him at BYU.
Oh, I didn't see that.
People on Twitter were even like, why did Pope do that?
But they're very close.
Pope even talking about the press conference.
But he kind of gave Waterman a friendly nudge to the shoulder.
Louisville fans are really mad at Garrison.
They think he hit Hepburn in the head earlier.
They argue that he stepped on the guy in that thing.
I couldn't see that.
I watched it a couple times.
I didn't really see him step on.
Now, he did hit Hepburn.
I don't think it was intentional.
Like, he turned around and kind of hit him.
But if you're mad, you could say that.
You know, the Louisville players and coaches were very complimentary of the atmosphere at Kentucky after the game.
And if I'm a Louisville fan, I mean, I heard what's a Louisville fan?
I mean, I heard what's his face?
Edwards say, like, I'd like to have another year.
I'd like to play in this again.
Like, they should give them that atmosphere at U of L, right?
Like, it shouldn't have to be to come here to have that atmosphere.
U of L fans should learn from him.
He said, I love the L's down.
It made me want to win the game more.
Yeah, I like that.
Stop being a baby when we do it.
He said it added more fuel to the game.
Remember Satterfield being, I mean, we don't need to stop.
You are doing L's down.
It makes me upset.
Don't you?
I hit you pretty.
hard there, actually.
It's going to HR.
Yeah, sorry about that.
But I like that.
They embraced it.
I thought it didn't bother me when they would score and those guys would like,
You're too little.
You're too little.
I want there to be spies.
This is the best rivalry in college, but I don't care what any of these people say.
I've been at Duke Carolina.
Duke Carolina people, they study with each other and then come to the game.
There's not real hate.
This is real hate.
This is Matt goes to the bar and people threaten to punch him just when he walks in.
That's real hate.
That doesn't happen at Duke Carolina.
I was there for it.
And in order to keep that, then Louisville has got a hold up there into the bargain.
Their players did it this time.
Their coach did it.
Now their fans need to do it so that we get back to where we were.
How about the Louisville player that flipped us off walking off the court at halftime?
You know what?
I'm okay.
I am too.
You know what?
He flipped us off.
You know, you shouldn't flip us off, but he's into the game.
I'm sure our people were not saying nice things to him.
I'm sure they were not like, nice half, sir, way to go.
You played very well.
I'm sure.
And so you know what?
Middle fingers up.
I get it.
I liked Peyton Siva talking trash with our fans before the game.
Peyton Siva's a good guy.
Drew, that you and I were here, like that time when Cal got here,
2010 to 2016, that rivalry, it was just.
And I was so nervous watching the games.
I thought I would spontaneously combust.
I want them back so that we do that.
Their players held up the end of the bargain.
Now their fans have to do it.
Yeah, that's why Saturday was so fun, not just with the win.
Just the energy in there was so good.
There could have been more Louisville fans, but you know,
the little fight on the sideline, you don't want a fight,
but when it happens, you know your rivalry's back a little bit.
On the Garrison thing, I thought he got shoved in the back into their bench.
I don't think he was going looking for it.
But just the fact that we had benches clear in a Kentucky Louisville game,
you know, again, you're not.
I like it.
I do.
You don't want to say I'd go out there and start a fight, but you're kind of glad it happened.
Both coaches afterwards said they didn't think it was a big deal.
No, right.
Pat Hassey said it was one of the better moments in the game.
He was fired up.
All right, so I want to talk about Mark Pope for a minute what he did after the game.
You sent out the picture of this, but it's kind of amazing.
He stayed and signed for every person that waited, including how long are we talking?
talking when the game is over. So Jack and Zach and I stay several hours after the game. We're
sitting up there in the crow's nest just writing. And I'm not even paying attention at this point
because the post game's been over. The crowd's cleared. And I look up and I'm nudged him.
Like he's still down there. And there's probably one row of Rup Arena left like the whole front
in the end. And he's on his knees going down and he's signed every single autograph.
And at that point, watch him get to the very end and then looks exhausted. Goes to leave.
A few security guards want pictures. Mark Pope might still be at Rupp Arena. Right.
now.
See, that's awesome.
I mean, everyone was leaving and he was still on that court making sure every last
person got a photo or an autograph.
I mean, he really, like he said when he got hired, he understands the assignment.
I am not sure that a person could have a better start to their coaching career than
Mark.
He's 10 and 1.
He beat Duke.
He beat Louisville.
He beat Gonzaga on the road.
He sits here.
He signs.
I mean, I think he's going to like go Christmas Carol at people's houses.
you're going to get a knock on the door,
and Mark Pope's going to be like,
heart the herald angels sing.
It's just an awesome, like, he is,
you couldn't have asked for this to go any better so far.
And I love the fact he brought the team out.
The whole team came out after the game, you know, to meet the fans.
He gets it, man.
He understands what this program means to this fan base.
Yeah, I didn't want to leave that out.
When he had to do his press conference, you know,
he has obligations in the back.
Before he started, I watched him.
He grabbed the whole team and let him out the tunnel,
said, well, I'm back here, you know, go, go entertain.
And they stayed out there signing all the ground.
And it's little things.
So, for instance, this is a little thing, but I like it.
So we win.
Our guys are on the court.
Our guys want to celebrate with the fans.
They want to L's down it.
Mark Pope, I thought this was actually really classy.
He said, let's wait till their players leave.
Then their players left the court.
Then it was L's down all the time.
Okay, so that's like celebrating without taunting.
I liked it.
I did do.
I just felt like, you know,
you separate the wheat from the chaff on rivalry day.
And I'm not sure Pope could have done it much better.
We'll take a break.
Take your calls right for this.
KSR.
T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney.
Call T.J. He'll make them pay.
Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Here's Matt Jones.
Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio here at KS. Barr.
By the way, great time here at KSbar.
But all weekend.
Saturday was awesome before the game.
I had a friend who watched the game here who said it was
the loudest they've ever seen this place during the game.
Nice.
And then after the game,
crab was full during the post game show.
So a lot of fun.
I'm watching the game here on Saturday against Ohio State.
I don't watch a lot of games here,
but I'm watching the game here Saturday with all my friends for Ohio State.
It's like our little Christmas party.
We had to draw.
We got the,
you know,
you draw a friend to buy their Christmas present.
And I drew probably the person in the group that I know the least.
And so like that's been rack.
my brain, what do you get them?
What do you get somebody you don't really know?
But I think I've got the perfect.
Oh, you do?
Yes, I'm very proud of it.
Cowboy hat?
I did not get him a cowboy hat.
One person writes, Matt, you get this text machine, 772, 774, 5254.
You get mad when people say you're too negative.
In segment one, you said, O-A played bad for 36 minutes.
Our perimeter defense was awful.
We pumped fake too much.
Yeah, I think we know why people say you're too negative.
Well, I think you're a snot.
because those are all reasonable things.
Of course I'm thrilled.
I mean, all I'm doing is being happy that we won and talking about how Pope is,
I literally said Pope has been perfect.
But, you know, if you just want me to come on and go,
everything's always great, then why would this show be interesting?
Just like say, so how did, you know, Amari play great?
How did Brea play great?
That's boring.
They do have weaknesses, but we still want.
one and we're 10 and one and we have the best offense in the country and there's still room
drew for this team to improve yes they're awesome we beat louisville we love beating louisville it's
actually my favorite thing in the world but i can also say that and go man 64% from the free throw
line that could be a little better could be a problem yeah and then i'm not being negative i'm just
trying to we're trying to reach perfection here and then remember in football season when i said you know
there's a way we could go nine and three people go so you got our hopes up man like you know i just tell
what I think, which is I love watching this team.
I mean, I genuinely love watching this team.
They are so much fun.
After the last few years where even though I loved individual players,
sometimes watching them was like a slog to try to get through the games,
this team is a ton of fun to watch.
Well, you know, we're just breaking down the game.
And like you and I said during the break, Kentucky didn't shoot the ball that well from three,
and yet they still scored 93 points.
You know, that shocks me that this team was able to score that many points.
A bad scoring day.
93 points. That's pretty amazing. Who's up first?
Let's go to Nate.
Nate. How are you, Nate?
Hey, what's up, guys? This is Nate from the Director of Energy at the Rupert Arena.
There he is.
Director of Energy. Go all right, Nate.
So last week I called, and I gave a little Stone Cold by my buddy.
So, man, you get a call again and beat Stone Cold because that you can do perfect.
So I want to give him an impression of Stone Cold cutting a promo about the Louisville game.
is that okay Shannon
do we want to do this
I know you hate impersonations
impersonations rarely work
all right here's the thing
I'm going to let you start
but Nate I love you
but if it's not good I'm just going to cut you off
and then we can do normal calls
from now on okay
okay that's fine
all right go ahead
Kentucky Louisville son
walked into Saturday at Roperino
whoops somebody's
ass. We went 9385.
I appreciate the call.
Okay, so like, you know, I mean, but he's had defeated doing Stonecoach.
I mean, it's, you know, it's fine, but like there are people who could do it better than that.
By the way, I'm going to talk about the whole thing with the fan and the police and the security.
I'm going to get into all that.
I'm going to do it in the second hour.
So I'm not skipping over that.
I know that's a big online topic, but I want to like handle it completely.
And so I'm going to wait until the second hour to do it.
that same thing i want to talk about the football vince merrow situation i'm also going to wait till
the second hour so that we have time for both of those just so you know i'm not ignoring that because
i do think that's important but we got some other stuff i want to want to want to do i get it but i am anxious
to hear the the updates you may have why are you anxious because i've not heard any update since we
had our pregame show are you talking about vince or the thing with the fan do you even let me ask you
do you even know what happened with the fan oh yeah okay good yeah i just didn't know if you
consistently check the internet to see what would it happen.
I was bored last night, so I, you know, looked around what was going on.
Well, good.
I did like Ryan's tweet when Pat Kelsey yelled at the ref, you're not being consistent.
Ryan retweeted it said, it happens to the best of us.
That is a good tweet.
What did you think of the officiating?
Was it fun to watch Pat Adams?
Oh, gosh.
That was a Pat Adams special, wasn't it?
You really don't want to bring up officiating when you win a rivalry game like that.
You just want to be happy and move on, but Pat Adams, kill.
Oh, my goodness.
The Pat experience just continues.
He's the worst.
Like, not because he's a terrible ref.
I mean, I don't think he's great, but I also don't think he's the worst.
What I don't like about Pat Adams is that it's, he's a little bit like Patch Adams as a referee.
You know how you'd watch Patch Adams?
You'd go, Robin Williams, man, like, calm down.
Like, you know, I'm in the hospital.
You don't have to put that nose on and scream at me all the time.
Like, Pat Adams is just always in your face.
That call where the referee called the foul on Louisville,
and Pat Adams ran from the other side of the floor
and told the official that he had called it on the wrong person,
and then he was wrong.
To me was like the best summary of Pat Adams, Ryan, I've ever seen.
Yeah, that's what I was going to say.
That kind of typifies what Pat Adams is all about.
When he goes other end of the court almost,
and he comes running in to change the call,
at front of the guy who was called it right in front of him.
And on that Jackson Robinson shooting it over the backboard,
He may have shot it over the backboard.
I don't understand, by the way, why that's a rule.
Why is that against the rules to shoot it over?
I'm serious.
I've never thought it was.
Guys in a corner sometimes I thought it would kind of go over the backboard a little bit.
I think it is against a rule, but I don't know why.
First of all, it's not an advantage.
No one's going to choose to shoot it from behind the backboard.
Right?
I mean, it's not an advantage.
Secondly, it's a complete judgment call.
Like, who knows what?
And third, Pat Adams was standing in the upper level and called that.
Like, he was nowhere close to that call.
The guy on the baseline doesn't even call it.
I was the far opposite corner of Roperina.
I couldn't have been farther away in Rufferina.
And Pat was, like, right in front of me.
And he went running.
And he came running all the way over.
Worst angle imaginable.
And then even when he does a little thing like a review,
he can't just say call has been reversed.
He reads a Dickens novel in telling you that the call,
Like, he is annoying.
Someone who was circulating on social media, I don't, who posted it first.
But I was reminded of Cal had that game where he runs up to the other official,
talking about Pat Adams, and you can read his live playing his day.
He just goes, he is the worst official.
Like, Cal was saying that years ago.
He really is.
It's an unbelievable thing with him.
And as soon as I see him out of game, I go, uh-oh, it's the Pat Adams show.
We used to say that about Doug Shows.
It seems like now has become Pat Adams we all feel that way about.
When it came out yesterday, I had a Tennessee.
fan who probably didn't even watch the game, text me from Knoxville, enjoy Pat Adams today.
It's like people just know with the Pat Adams experience.
The Pat Adam experience.
Who's next?
Jay and Lyndon.
Jay and Lyndon.
Go ahead.
I got two quick things with no impressions.
First, it's really refreshing that we don't have excuses.
I mean, you haven't heard Mark Pope once say we weren't ready for this.
We shot 70% in the first half.
We could have easily been like, oh, man, we shot ourselves out.
We're going to look back in Lamont Butler not.
being at the Gonzaga game, and that's winning is unbelievable to me right now. It really is
unbelievable. To beat Gonzaga without Lamont Butler is kind of crazy, if you think about it.
I mean, lose Cresa halfway through the second half. Yeah. No, you're right, Jay. And I like,
I'm with you. I like there's no excuses. You know, he just,
Pope just moves forward. And I think that's a lot better than looking backward, which is what I
think sometimes used to happen. Matt, the other thing you noted, after the post-game on the post-game
shows, we are not going to have a lot of pros to follow. But I'll tell you,
what's going to be neat. We've got a lot of future coaches on this team.
That may be true, yeah. I can see that. I could see us. I can see, appreciate it, Jay.
I can see us having coaches. I don't think some people disagree with me on this, and I hope
I'm wrong. I don't think we have any pros on this team. I mean, I don't, I don't think any of
these guys are going to be NBA players. They can play professionally overseas or, you know,
some of them may be in the G league. I don't think there's going to be a pro on this team.
But I don't care. Like, they're fun.
And they're great college players.
And, you know, I was watching highlights of John Wall his freshman year against Yukon.
And I was watching it.
And the highlights, this was on TikTok.
John Wall was amazing.
Like his first step was amazing.
He's the fastest player I've seen on the court.
And the highlights, you would think he's the best player you've ever seen.
And we beat Yukon.
But the final score was 6462.
And we shot 29%.
And I was thinking like, John Wall was amazing.
And that team had a ton of talent.
But we still shot 29%.
And we still only won by two points.
This is different.
This is not the moment you go, whoa, but we score 93.
And it's still very fun to watch.
Because they have a very high basketball IQ, and they execute their offense.
They're very efficient in executing their offense.
That's the difference.
You know what I mean?
And they can, they're, they're talented at this game.
Yeah.
Even if they're not the talents for the future in the NBA,
their talent for this.
That was my big thing.
Before we even knew, he'd beat Duke and Louisville,
or that Pope would even work out.
When people were having that there's no pros on this roster,
it's like, okay, I'm excited about that.
We've had pros on several rosters.
We had lots of pros on last year's roster.
I'm ready for something new.
I'm ready to not have pros for a little while and see how the college guys.
You know, it's a different kind of team,
but it's one I really enjoy.

This Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm CJ Toledano and our podcast,
Point game is about defining the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows.
Without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
he has to really guard guys like Nasree.
He has to guard Julius Rui.
Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nash will get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He run up the court, licking his fingers, why he got the ball.
Like, after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick.
Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball.
So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

That is the point of the show.
I'm just going to remind you.
I have watched some Survivor.
I obviously haven't watched enough.
Did people not like it?
Yeah.
Just because we?
Yeah.

Quarterback on office blue with 42.
Hey, rep, my mama want you to wave at her.
What?
Hey, Miss Parker.

Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio.
All right. So,
so, uh,
Shannon,
I really like this song a lot.
I do too.
Yeah, never going back.
Never going back again.
And you know how sometimes you'll like something,
and then it's like the whole rest of the world discovers it.
I've liked this song for years.
And now on TikTok,
this has become a big thing.
People say,
Shannon,
this is the hardest song to play on guitar.
I'm never,
you're a guitar guy.
Yeah. Yeah.
Do you think it is?
It's definitely up there.
I mean,
it's kind of like a Simon and Garfunkel type song.
So turn it up just a little bit.
People say this little riff is impossible to play.
Now, why is that so hard?
Because when I hear that, it seems pretty basic to me.
But there are all these TikTok videos now of guitar players trying to play it and learning it
and saying this is like the hardest thing to play.
So you know, you know guitar.
Why is that so hard to play?
Sounds like there's a lot of finger picking going on instead of just regular, you know, picking with a guitar pick.
There's like some additional...
Do any of you know?
I do not play the guitar.
I do not know.
But like literally, if you go on TikTok, it's on my algorithm now.
It's just person after person trying to learn to play this and like not being able to do it.
And I was reading some comment sections.
There are people who say, I guess there are different styles of guitar playing.
I don't know.
But there's something called finger licking good or something like that.
And whatever that style is, Drew, this is supposedly the hardest song to play.
shows how little I know about the guitar because I wouldn't this doesn't sound like it would be
it doesn't sound like to me I like it because he goes bin down one time been down two time I like that
but apparently that's not the that's not what makes it hard I would not know unless you brought it up today
that this is a little you know well now you know so maybe you should learn how to do it and then you can say
you've played the hardest song in the world I was gonna say I'll try that maybe later on tonight and now I'll make a video
You think it's hard, okay?
Because, you know, people say, people are saying it's hard.
859-280-2287.
One person writes, Matt, Mark Pope is not allergic to the rivalry.
He embraces it.
He doesn't say it's like any other game.
And I love that.
I loved all the, I love the whole angle about it.
For years, Cal will be like, oh, it's just any other game.
No, it's not.
No, it's not.
No, it's not.
Don't say it is.
I don't like when people say it is.
It's not like any other game.
It's different.
And UK handled it like it was different.
year. They did the video with all the former players. I know it made you cry, right?
I literally got a lump in my throat when I watched that video with the former
players writing a letter, addressing it to the current team.
Ramele was narrating it and you just, so you, you see the moment you see like Tationon
and Patrick Sparks, you like weep like a bait. Kenny Walker, Jim Master, these guys,
Darren Feldhouse, John Pelfrey. I got chili bumps literally right now thinking about this.
Chili bumps is not a word. It was awesome. It's goosebumps. Or you get
get chills and you always combine it.
Chili bumps.
If that's not a thing.
It takes goosebumps to another level.
No.
No, it's not like goosebumps with spice.
By the way, did you see the story that our peppers are not as spicy?
Did you know that?
No.
Has anybody seen this?
No.
So the peppers in the last year or two, the peppers that come from Mexico and from South America,
Latin America are not as spicy because of something about climate,
like the climate they're changing a little bit.
because of climate change, it's making it to where the peppers are not quite as spicy.
Really?
Chefs who rely on the really spicy ones are very upset.
They can't get the peppers that they used to get.
I don't know why I brought that up.
But nevertheless, do you like the way we embraced this being a rival?
I thought you were going to ask about spicy peppers.
Yeah, I love spicy peppers.
And yes, I love embracing the rivalry into tie two of those topics together, not peppers,
but that letter video and then saying the game is more important,
some of the players, at least two or three in that video, specifically said,
this is not another game, don't say it's another game, this is bigger, it means more,
it's one of the biggest rivalry in sports.
So when people try to do the, it's just the next one on the schedule, we haven't thought about it,
you're lying and you're wrong.
Yes, you're lie.
Well, you're either lying or you're not sort of taught what it is to play here.
I mean, I never liked when these guys would come and go, yeah, I've never really thought about the game,
you know, who's little.
Like, no.
I mean, ultimately one day, the great thing about college basketball or college sports in general, you're part of something.
Even if you're just here for a year, you're part of something.
And part of what that is is the Louisville game.
It's part of it.
There's a great story that after Kentucky won the 98 national championship with the comeback cats and tubby, Bill Kightly was going around.
You know what?
You didn't beat Louisville.
That's what that game means.
Is that a great story?
Yeah, it's a great story.
You just won the national title, but you know what?
You didn't beat Louisville.
I feel like that was a little harsh by him.
I'd rather have the national title than beat Louisville.
You know, Pope played in two of these games, lost one-one, one.
So, you know, he gets it.
He played that Samaki Walker game that they lost.
Oh, yeah, that was when he had the crazy game, right?
30 points.
Did he have a triple double?
Pope brought that up.
Did he?
I think Samaki Walker had a triple double in that game or something.
Are very close to it.
It's funny how these games get labeled.
That's the Samaki Walker.
game. We had the Patrick Sparks game. Well, we talked about that on the postgame show. I think
Lamont Butler now joins like a group. They're the Louisville game guys. So like you go back
Jim Master. Jim Master. Cedric Jenkins. I mean, Cedric Jenkins is remembered because he got that
tap in against Louisville. And then guys like Patrick Sparks with the free throws, Dominique Hawkins,
the card killer, right? Jorts. Jorts had a major game in that. Tyler Ulysses,
with the blood coming down his face.
Willie with the steel and the dunk against Montrez-Harrell.
Derek Anderson gets his dunk and does his little dance,
although the dance was against Indiana,
but he got a dunk against Louisville as well.
Lamont Butler's now in that group.
Like when we think Antonio Reeves had 30 last year,
we didn't know if we'd ever see 30 again.
Lamont Butler gets it the next year.
Like, I mean, he enters that group.
Yeah, I think Derek Miller has the record for points in the series,
but I think Lamont might have just taken the headline as the best of all the MVP performances.
Rex, his freshman year.
Had a hang of a game against the Louisville.
Shea became Shea in that game.
It gets kind of forgotten because I think that was the year of the Music City Bowl was at the same time with Beni in Nashville.
Oh, you're right.
That's kind of a forgotten Louisville game.
Yeah.
That was Shay's breakout performance a few years ago.
And look at the history books, Samaki Walker did have a triple double.
Yeah.
11 blocks.
Mark Pope with 9 and 10, though.
Pope was in there banging with him.
So I, you know, this one won't be remembered like the best of the best.
But it is, I think, one that will, I mean, Lamont Butler will in 20 years when the guys who are doing this show instead of us are going through those, I do think Lamont Butler's name will now be in that little group.
You're saying I got to find another job in 20 years?
Nobody wants to listen to you at 75.
Oh, I do.
Can't wait.
Oh, can you imagine the lemon disms we would get at 75?
the things he's going to say when he's 75.
I can't wait.
Yeah.
I mean, I feel like...
Let's go ahead and get that in writing.
You know, that, I'll let you...
I think that'll be a different show.
I mean, I'm not going to be doing this in 20 years.
If you do it...
Spoiler alert.
Why would you want to do this in 20 years?
I got to make money.
I got to survive.
Social Security?
Actually, it's not going to exist.
Now you're making it even feel more of them.
The Ron Limit Show will be number one in 20 years.
Yeah, I mean, exactly.
Old man rants into the radio.
It'll be a perfect show.
People will love it.
I love it.
I'm in.
All right.
859, 28027.
We're going to talk about the guys,
the standing at Rupp,
and then the latest on Vince Morrow.
That's next.

And now the Pod Meets Twirled podcast.
We're two men who were completely clueless to reality TV, and we're gearing up for the season finale of Survivor.

Again, we are experts.
