Starting point is 00:02:11 Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, everyone, it's Ryder Strong and Will Ferrell from PodMeets World. And now the PodMeets Twirled podcast. We're two men who were completely clueless to reality TV, and we're gearing up for the season finale of Survivor. I know we annoyed a lot of our listeners by our severe lack of survivor knowledge. That is the point of the show.
Starting point is 00:02:34 I'm just going to remind you. Again, we are experts. Listen to Podmeets Twirl on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome back hour number two, Kentucky Sports Radio, 859-2802287. Text Machine, 772-745254. One person writes, Matt, the reason that song is so hard
Starting point is 00:04:01 is because you're playing a different bass and treble line. It is the Merle Travis style of plane named after Mullenburg County's Merle Travis. How about that? This is good knowledge that I've not even heard any hint of. The person says it's like you're playing two different songs and it's hard for one brain to play them both at the same time. It's all those brains in Mullenburg County.
Starting point is 00:04:28 In Mulemberg County, you can have two brains. How about that? We would like to see Ryan try to play it, though. No. Like that would be good. Shannon, you're the guitar player. He's the one who got to investigate and try it. I was wanting to learn to play guitar, but I just don't feel like my fingers, you know,
Starting point is 00:04:41 and he did it without a pick. He's going to have a lot of time and patience. Yeah, he did it with the, was it Lindsay Buckingham? Is that the guy in Fleetwood, Matt? Yes. He did it without a. pick, he was like, brim,
Starting point is 00:04:53 boom, boom, boom, Bidding. Are you supposed to use a pick,
Starting point is 00:04:56 I guess? Is that what this Merle Travis did? No, you're not supposed to,
Starting point is 00:05:00 it's, it's harder. It's harder to use your fingers than to use a pick. And so they were doing just
Starting point is 00:05:05 fingers. Wow. They were just finger, you know, just banging it out. So that's a
Starting point is 00:05:11 badass, Ryan. Yeah, that's exactly right. 859, 287-287-287- 27-27-7-7-4. All,
Starting point is 00:05:19 we need to talk about what happen with the with the guy in the stands yeah okay because this is i think the thing everybody wants to talk about now let me just say part of the reason i didn't weigh in on this online is because i don't think a lot of people like i don't know exactly what happened i think a lot of people are very you have to be very quick very sure like when you rush to judgment to make sure you actually know what happened because a lot of times people they just roll with it so i'm just going to show you what It looks like from my end.
Starting point is 00:05:50 Okay. But with the understanding that, like, none of this is confirmed. I'm big on people, if they want to stand during the game, stand during the game. It looks to me like there was a guy in the crowd who's like, I'm standing the whole game. And everybody else is up and they're down and they're up and they're down and he's just standing. Then, I guess someone complains to security. They call a blue coat who then calls a police. officer. And there is a video of a police officer walking down and telling this person to sit down.
Starting point is 00:06:27 Now, the problem for the police officer is he's sitting there telling this guy to sit down, but there are plays happening during the game, and then the fight happens, and then everybody stands up. So everybody's standing up, and he's telling this guy to sit down. And I think the guy's like, well, these people are standing up, and he's like, well, no, you sit down. And now this is the allegedly part. I can't see this on video. So like, that's what makes it hard because I can't see this on video. But the allegation is that the police officer says you will spend the night in jail if you don't sit down. So here's my take on it.
Starting point is 00:07:06 And then there's a video floating around of a guy flipping off the crowd who's basically alleged to be the one that complained. I don't know if he is. I don't know if he's just flipping people off because he likes to flip people off. I don't know. Hells down, fingers up. Yeah, hells down, fingers up. We have got to stop punishing our fans for cheering and being loud. The idea that you would contemplate sending someone to prison for standing during the game is absolutely ludicrous.
Starting point is 00:07:40 If the police officer said that, and again, I don't know if he did. But if he did, that's right. ridiculous. All right? I don't even think it's a crop. I'm trying to think, what is the crime? Like, standing? I don't even know what the crime would be. Now, I do want people to understand. You can be kicked out of a game. And you don't have, quote, unquote, free speech rights during a game. If the blue coats want to kick you out, you can be kicked out. So I want you to understand, like, the people who are like, this is violating my rights. Respectfully, when I see somebody say, that, they don't know what their rights are.
Starting point is 00:08:20 Okay? They can kick you out, but that's different than whether they should kick you out. They should not kick you out for standing. And a police officer saying they can put you in jail, come on, man. Like, take a, like, chill out, all right, take you to jail for standing during the game. But there's a bigger problem here, Drew, which is this idea that, like, we're going to try to punish people for being excited and into. a game. Is it a jerk move to stand and cheer the whole game? I would say no, but I could understand
Starting point is 00:08:57 how somebody would be like, well, if you're the only one standing, dude, whatever. But this idea that we're calling the security on all this, like, I just think it's ridiculous. Go watch these other teams. Their teams are standing the whole game. We do not have some special special privilege at Kentucky to sit. Like, it's a play. This is. is a basketball game. If you want to sit, go sit during Wicked at the opera house. This is a basketball game. It was pretty embarrassing the fact that a police officer had to come over.
Starting point is 00:09:30 I'm surprised. But he shouldn't have done it. I agree. I'm surprised we're not being mocked more online as we're supposed to be this great fan base. And we have police officers coming over because you're standing up. Whoever reported it needs to be embarrassed and ashamed of themselves. I'm sorry your view might have been obstructed for a little bit. It's a fan cheering for the team you want to.
Starting point is 00:09:48 win. Maybe you stand up and cheer with him. But the fact that a cop got involved is outrageous. What do you know what the cop thought he could charge him with? Like standing, I don't what's the crime? That was my thing. Do you get a tear drop for that? Like when you get in the, when you get in the cell, you're like, hey man, what are you in for? I was standing at the Kentucky global game. Don't mess with me. Standing. Like standing is not, you can't get charged with standing. That's why it was so crazy to me. It got to that level. One of the, one of the the biggest games on the home schedule. Ryan, you're old.
Starting point is 00:10:21 Thank you. So do you have any sympathy for the older fans who are like, I just want to sit, these whippersnappers are standing? You know, we've all seen fans get removed if they're vulgar, bad language, maybe trying to pick a fight, maybe even drunk. We've seen that. And it seems like this guy, none of that. He was just cheering on the cats.
Starting point is 00:10:45 So for me, as an older person, since you label me that, I do try to be at least considerate. I stand up some, but then when there's nothing going on, I'll sit back down. I don't want to block the person behind me all the time, but I'm going to stand up when I cheer, and then when the plays over, maybe I'll sit back down. So do you not, okay, I think most people would agree with that. But if there's a person who just wants to stand the whole game,
Starting point is 00:11:11 what's your thought on that? I mean, like you said, you're at a game. If you get stuck behind the guy that's doing that, you just stand up also. You know, there's no old crime. You said you have to sit in your chair the whole time. Stand up and support your team. It looks just like that guy's doing. So you're on that guy's side?
Starting point is 00:11:28 I'm on that guy's side. Okay, I'm 95% on that guy's side. I still, there's a part of me that if there's like a little old lady sitting there, you've got to be considerate. There's a part of me that's like I would try to be considered. Yeah. But the video of the person or the picture. of the person that allegedly, again, I say allegedly, because I don't know for sure, flip the person
Starting point is 00:11:48 off and told the police, he looks like he's younger than the guy that was standing. Yeah. So, like, it was more just like, I don't want to stand up. I have less sympathy for that, Drew. Yeah, I mean, be a little self-aware. If the person behind you can't stand up, maybe take some breaks. Yeah. Turn around, tell them I'm going to do my best, work it out between you.
Starting point is 00:12:07 But outside of a scenario where someone's handicap or just they're unable to stand, I'm sorry? I mean, I went to see Tyler Childers on New Year's Eve at Rupp. The couple in front of me stood the whole time. I watched the entire concert on the Jumbotron. I'm not sure I even saw Tyler Childers, even though I was in there with a ticket. And it sucked, but oh, well, that's what happens when you go to an event. That's what happens when you leave your house.
Starting point is 00:12:27 You know, when you leave your house, something may not always be perfect. I mean, you hear me complain. I don't like lines. I don't like traffic. And I don't like a lot of people. But you know what? When you leave your house, that's part of it, is that you might have to deal with some things that aren't exactly the way you'd want.
Starting point is 00:12:49 Especially a rivalry game sporting event. Yeah. There's a couple things that really bother me and sound like all you guys about what happened. The police officer trying to arrest a guy for standing up at a game is ridiculous. Well, I don't think he would arrest him because I don't think you can. I think that was just him going, rr. Like, can you imagine him going to his captain and say, I arrested this dude for cheap? during the game.
Starting point is 00:13:12 I mean, come on. Aggravated standing. Yeah. So what about the blue coat guy that goes down and tries to get him to set down? The blue coats are in a tough position, right? Like the university has to make a decision. This is at a university level. The university is going to have to decide.
Starting point is 00:13:26 Are we going to encourage our fans to stand or not? Ultimately, the blue coats are just enforcing whatever the university policies. True. Right? So actually, the people I blame the least are the blue coats. The blue coats are told what to do. They're just doing it. The cop should know better.
Starting point is 00:13:44 Okay, the cop is enforcing the law, and the law does not say you can arrest people for standing. So I do have some blame on the cop. I do think the university's got to be clear about what we're encouraging. You can't have, you know, Cal last year would say stand for the old thing. Well, you can't have the university encouraging people to do it, and then blue coats enforcing people to sit down. Yep.
Starting point is 00:14:06 So the blue coats are in a tough position, Because if the university is telling them, if people are obstructing the aisle, have them sit down, what are they supposed to do? So I actually blame the administration and the police officer. I don't really blame the Blue Coe because I don't really know, Drew, what they're supposed to do. Yeah, they're in a tough spot, and they're not threatening to take anyone to jail. They're just trying to, you know, maintain a little order and Rupp Arena based on whatever they've been told. They need to have a meeting, probably already are, to figure out what the standing policy is. so this doesn't keep happening.
Starting point is 00:14:38 This isn't the first game. We've heard, had fans tell us they were told to sit down. The policy needs to be, encourage people to be loud. Do you, this is college basketball, okay? This is college basketball. I was in a Knicks game last year. A lot of their fans stand, and it's the pros. This is college.
Starting point is 00:14:57 They stand at Duke. They stand at Kansas. They stand at Auburn. Like, they stand at the best environments. Do you want Rupp to be one of those environments? Then encourage people to stand. Do you want them to be like North Carolina where they don't? The worst environment in moderate, the worst environment in big time college basketball is North Carolina.
Starting point is 00:15:14 Yep. And it's because they have the attitude that we're talking about. I don't want to see us go down that path. I'm with you. I'm with you. 100%. Who's up first? Let's go to Caleb. Caleb.
Starting point is 00:15:25 Go ahead, Caleb. I was actually the one who the officer came down and told he was going to arrest for standing in the game. Oh, you were the guy. Yeah, yeah. It was my first ever a basketball game. Well, I tell you what, you know what? I want to talk to you for a minute, and I'll have to go to break. So will you hold and I'll start the next segment with you?
Starting point is 00:15:48 Is that okay? Yeah, that's cool. Okay, I'm going to do this ad. Shannon will take an early break and then I'll talk to him. Hey, you wouldn't buy tickets to the big game and not go. So why would you pay for your health benefits and not use them? Court physical therapy wants to let you know that if you've met your deductible this year, you may be able to receive physical therapy at an extreme discount.
Starting point is 00:16:09 benefits reset January 1st. So get in before the new year. It's court.com. That's k-o-r-r-t.com. 70 locations around the state. It's court.com. We'll talk to the guy who they threatened to say, you're spending the night in the pokey. What are you laughing at? That's what they said. You don't, you never heard the jail called the pokey? I've heard it called the pokey in old Western movies in the 50s. Oh, Western movies. Mario, you ever heard it called a pokey? See, there you go. It's an official name for jail. Patty wagon first. That's right. We're going to put you into Patty Wagon, take you the pokey right after this. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Starting point is 00:17:51 Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing. And we're still chasing it, and we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth,

Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows. Without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game.
Starting point is 00:18:57 We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nasree. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nass would get that thing.
Starting point is 00:19:21 That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers why he got the ball. Like, after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, everyone. It's Ryder Strong and Will Ferdell from PodMeets World. And now the PodMeets Twirled podcast. We're two men who were completely clueless to reality TV, who now have covered Dancing with the Stars, traitors, and we're gearing up for the season finale of Survivor. So yeah, now we're experts. I know we annoyed a lot of our listeners by our severe lack of survivor knowledge.
Starting point is 00:20:06 That is the point of the show. I'm just going to remind you. I have watched some Survivor. I obviously haven't watched enough. Did people not like it? Yeah. Just because we? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:17 We'll be recapping the big conclusion at the 50th season from the final attempts at gameplay to the desperate pleas of finalists to a bunch of ha, hoo. Ha ha, ha, ho. Again, we are experts.
Starting point is 00:20:29 So make sure to tune into Pod Meets Twirled for all our Survivor 50 takes. Listen to Pod Meets Twirled on the IHeard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, guys? This is Clivert Taylor the 4th.
Starting point is 00:20:41 And on my podcast, The Cliverts Show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff. Like being an internet famous referee. We're in the middle of a game. This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me. He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Time out.
Starting point is 00:21:00 Quarterback on office blue 42. A rep. My mama want you to wave at her. What? Where's she at? Hey, Ms. Parker. Listen to the Cliverts show on the I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Welcome back, Techie Sports Radio.
Starting point is 00:21:24 All right, so Caleb here is on the phone. He says he was the guy that they told to sit down. So, Caleb, go ahead. First of all, how old are you, Caleb? I'm 23. 23. All right, so you're a senior. And you were sitting in non-student seats, am I right?
Starting point is 00:21:42 Yes, I think we're in row 12. What section are we talking? Kay. Kay. That's not a section. We're like 12 rows back from the floor. Okay, so you don't know what section. All right, either way.
Starting point is 00:22:05 So were you standing the whole game? No, I stood for the first two minutes of the game, and a bunch of the fans behind me were yelling to sit down. And then one of the blue coats came down and told me that I had to sit down there. I was going to be kicked out. So I sat down until, like, standing up periodically. But I sat down until there was 10 minutes left in the game. And then that's when I stood back up and remained standing,
Starting point is 00:22:33 even though the people behind me were yelling to sit down. But I also talked to the people who were the direct row behind me, and they said that they don't mind if I stand. And they said it's completely fine. So were you standing by yourself or were there other people with you? I mean, one of my friends was with me. He stood periodically, but. But for most of the time, it was you.
Starting point is 00:22:54 Okay. So tell me what did the police officer say when he came down to you? He came down and told me that if I didn't sit down, I was going to be arrested and taken to jail. And did he say on what charge? I asked him why he would take me to jail. I was like, I didn't know it was a crime to stand. And he was like, you'll find out if it's a crime. You'll find out if it's a crime.
Starting point is 00:23:18 And then whenever we... By the way, that's not a good thing for an officer to say. This is a general habit. You'll find out if it's a crime would not be the best thing to say. All right. So then what happened? So I sat down, but at this point, there was, I think, around seven minutes left in the game. And I stood up periodically.
Starting point is 00:23:37 And then around two minutes, everybody started for the rest of the game. So then I stood up the rest of the game. So you did end up following what the officer said. I mean, I wasn't trying to go to jail. I understand. I understand. And I was honestly kind of worried about what you were going to do if I did. I understand that. I understand that. Okay, so how many people would you say overall were complaining?
Starting point is 00:24:04 There was just that main dude that you all saw the picture of giving me the finger. And my friend that was sitting next to me. I actually took the picture of that dude flicking me off. So you're saying that was the dude? The dude whose picture, that what you're saying, that was him? Yes, that was the one. who talked, either told the blue code or the officer. And he told us if we didn't sit down, he was going to come down there and make it sit down.
Starting point is 00:24:30 Well, that's not good. All right. Well, okay, so I, first of all, Caleb, I appreciate you telling us the information. Do you have any, like, final thought on it at all? I mean, I think something needs to be done where it changes because I was just trying to support my team, and that was the first game I'd ever been to. So I kind of blew my mind whenever I got there in two minutes. end of the game, I was being yelled at to sit down for just standing and cheering.
Starting point is 00:24:57 All right, Caleb, appreciate the call. So what are your thoughts after hearing that? Anything? Yes. The one thing I like the most is that he asked the people sitting right behind him. To me, he showed some respect for the people behind him. They said they didn't care. I think that goes a long way with people supporting him wanting to stand up and cheer for the team. So we do, I think, have to collectively decide as a fan base. are you good with this or not?
Starting point is 00:25:25 Because this is going to keep happening now. I mean, like, this is become enough of a thing. This is going to keep happening. Like, at the Brown game, there's going to be some people who are just like, I'm going to stand up. And there's going to be some people that yell, like, this is going to happen. I think UK is going to have to decide, are you good with this or not? And I'll be very disappointed if UK stands up and says, don't.
Starting point is 00:25:44 I mean, you can't have rules that depend on the moment. So you can't be like, well, you can stand sometimes, but not all. the time. Well, who gets to decide when you stand? Like, you're just going to have to say, yes, you can stand and everybody else just has to deal with it, right? Yep, that's the position I would take. My two takeaways for the interview is the police officer needs to change his, what is it, stand around and find out philosophy he's got? I mean, you'll find out, come on, dude. Keep standing there, because that's a crime. My mom won't like to hear me say this, but if an officer looked at me and said, you'll find out, I'd be like, all right, come on, man.
Starting point is 00:26:23 I understand why the kid did what he did. It's his first game, but me being a little hard-headed, I would have probably tried to see where that would have gone next. I want to know what the charge was. I understand why he did, though. It scares people the thought of going to jail. I mean, that's scared. But for standing, I would have might have seen that one through.
Starting point is 00:26:39 But my biggest takeaway was that the guy complaining is even farther back that it's not even that obstructed. Not behind. I don't know how many rows back he was. So what would you say about that guy? The guy who complained. Put your big boy pants on is what I would say to him. Watch it from your TV.
Starting point is 00:26:53 Dude, would you say that to him for real? He's not big enough to stand up. I would stay home. Shady, you see Drew's getting tough over here. Put your big more pants on. Let's be serious. Put you big more paints. Someone needs to say that.
Starting point is 00:27:07 You're at a college basketball game and you're getting the usher because someone who's not even directly in front of you is standing up. That's not even your problem. That's the problem directly behind him who he said he worked it out with him. So Drew would. How far back behind someone do you have to be to not complain? So let's talk about what all of our reactions would have been if we were Caleb. Drew says he would see it out.
Starting point is 00:27:28 I know exactly what I would do. You would see it out. I would tell the guy, I'm standing up and you should too. And then when the officer came, I'm not going to jail, but I'd be like, dude, you're going to have to tell me what you're charging me with. Then if he cites a statute, Shannon, I might sit down. I don't think there is one for standing out. But there's probably not a statute. Standing in public.
Starting point is 00:27:48 But I will say, I'm not like, I'm not going to fight it just for the sake of it. But I am going to argue it out and then maybe at some point sit down. What are you going to do? I'm doing what Caleb did for most of the game, standing up in moments, but then respectfully sitting back down. But what about the moment where you decide you're going to stay in the last 10 minutes? What are you going to do when the officer comes? You're sitting down.
Starting point is 00:28:10 I'm sitting down. I know you. You're sitting down. I think you talk about the university trying to make a decision. It's going to be tough because as we know, most of those people that sit in the lower arena are the donors, the boosters, the ones that provide money. So you're sitting down. I'm sitting down. Shannon, are you sitting down? Shannon, are you sitting or staying? The first time he comes to me with a lot of time left in the game,
Starting point is 00:28:26 I might sit down just because I don't want to get thrown out of the game. But towards the end of the game, the game's almost over anyway. I know he's not going to put me in jail, so I'm not worried about that. So I would stand at the end of the game. That's kind of where I am. I would challenge him to put me in jail because I'd have one hell of a story on Monday. Shannon goes. So this is a good scale.
Starting point is 00:28:46 All right. Shannon is put me in the joke. Yeah. He's at the far end. Let's go. Drew is the, I'd like to see it out because it's a good experience. I want to know what I'm getting charged with. I'm a, I don't want to go to jail, but I'll argue with you.
Starting point is 00:29:01 Right. And Ryan is, yes, officer, I'm going to sit down. I'm sitting right down. So that's really, that's honestly, the four of us, that scale is a really good sort of example of our personalities. Shannon is the clash, fight the powers that be. Drew is, this will be fun. Let's play. Let's go.
Starting point is 00:29:21 Matt is, let's argue, but I don't want my mom mad at me. And Ryan is, yes, sir. Yes, sir. I think that's very good of our personnel. I really do. I think we're talking about standing at the biggest game on the schedule. Standing. All right, last call.
Starting point is 00:29:38 Who's up next? Let's go to Jackson. Jackson, I got about a minute. Go ahead. Hey, how are you? Doing good. First time long time. Who I just wanted to say, this weekend, I came up to the bar for the first time.
Starting point is 00:29:51 And I met Mario and everyone, and everyone was just so awesome. I really like what's going on with this year with the UK. I'm 24 years old, so this is the first time that I've seen a new coach. I feel fully invested in the program, which is really good vibes around everything right now. Also, I don't know if they could charge Caleb with disturbing the peace. I have no idea. But that's all I appreciate you guys. Disturbing the piece, I appreciate the call.
Starting point is 00:30:18 It's not a collective that you can just put any behavior in and say it's disturbing the peace. disturbing the piece. I mean, if I were to be the most sympathetic to the cop as to what he could charge him with, he could say you're in a building and you're being told by the people in the building to do something and you're not doing it. And so there might be some kind of maybe disturbing the piece in that. But the officer's got to know better than that. Like that's not worth it. Whether you can or not, it's not worth doing that. We're going to talk a little bit of football when we return. Well, Vince Merrill's day. next. T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J. He'll make them pay. Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. Welcome back. It is Kentucky
Starting point is 00:31:06 Sports Radio. I really like Rage Against Machine, Shannon. I'm not going to lie to you. They have like, what's the name of this one? Killing in the name of. Killing in the name of. Bulls on Parade. What's the other one? There's like three, I really like. Barilla Radio.
Starting point is 00:31:21 There's one more, though. Is it Justify? Isn't there a song called Justify? Testify. Testify. No shelter. Yeah. You wouldn't think of me as a rage against a machine guy,
Starting point is 00:31:36 but I can get in the car sometimes and kind of turn it up, and it's like you get going. That's what I would do. You did very well on our trip to Seattle with your music selection this time. What do you mean? We didn't hear as much 50s country as we usually do. Well, we had two people I thought wouldn't enjoy it with Mario and Max in the car. So I tried to make things a little more.
Starting point is 00:32:03 You actually did. But we also listened to a lot of podcasts. I'll say this too. Some telephone calls. I was going to say some phone calls for entertaining. Phone calls. I can't wait to talk about that someday. What do you mean?
Starting point is 00:32:12 What do you mean someday? What do you wait on? Well, we could discuss the phone calls you took during the show, during the car ride, I mean. No, I mean, there were, I mean, we can discuss that on the car ride, Shannon, there were some intense phone combination. I could hear all the way in the back seat. So let's see. There were so many we ranked our top five intense phone calls. Yeah, there were four calls.
Starting point is 00:32:33 Yes. Two of them were a little intense. We'll say they were intense in nature. So two of them were with, what would you say, UK, like, administrative people? Yes. Yes. Those were good. eye heart administrative people.
Starting point is 00:32:53 One of them was with an eye heart administrative people, and one of them was with an administrator. Athletic, coaching, something. Yeah. Yeah. So there were four of them, Shannon, and there was a little tension, but we were okay, right? Yeah, that was probably the most entertaining part of the being on the road,
Starting point is 00:33:15 just listening to you, a one-sided conversation. Yeah, you all couldn't hear the other side. Oh, I could hear some of it. Ryan was up front. So Ryan had a front seat. I could hear the other side of some of those situations. Yeah, they did rank when it was over the foremost uncomfortable calls of the trip. We were all agreed.
Starting point is 00:33:33 It was a pretty unanimous list. It was. I did want to compliment you one other time. Not only was your music selection better, you also let all of us pick the restaurants. Yeah, I don't think I picked our restaurant. I don't think you did either. I said I vetoed Maxes one time. But I did end up eating ramen.
Starting point is 00:33:49 once. It was fine. It was very unfulfilling, but I did, I let you all pick all the restaurants. And here's the problem to those of you listening with sort of cultivated palates. Here's the problem with letting these guys pick the restaurants.
Starting point is 00:34:05 Okay, I love these guys. But Drew has a pallet like mine. He likes to try things. Max, somewhat like that. The Aussie Mike likes healthier options. The Aussie mind is a little more narrow, but it's still, but so Max and Drew fine.
Starting point is 00:34:26 Ryan, Shannon, and Mario have the pallets of 12-year-old boys. So we're eating burgers like every time. And it's fine, but that meant half of our meals, Drew, we're going to be at burger places. Now, to their credit, they picked good burger plus. Yeah, and let me just. But they were still, Drew, that you know I'm right. There's still kind of burger place. I even said this on the trip.
Starting point is 00:34:51 I don't know that I'll eat another cheeseburger for the next six months. We had a lot of burgers. Listen, I love burgers, but I need a break. To be fair, there's not a whole lot of sophisticated places in North Platte, Nebraska. Fair enough. Shannon, I think you got a couple of difficult towns to do it in. But when we have a whole city, like for instance, we were in Tekema, Washington, what was it? Yakima.
Starting point is 00:35:12 Yakima, Washington. Yaka. Ryan has the whole city, a big city. and he takes us to a bar. Sports bar, because the place I wanted to go was like 15 minutes off the road. So was the place we went to. We went to a lot of bars. Yakima was like 15, 20 minutes off the road, the restaurant.
Starting point is 00:35:29 So it's okay, but I did have a good time. I think I added 20 pounds. What about you, guess? Yeah, I think I did too. All right, let's talk about the football. So Vince Mero, report comes out Saturday morning that Bill Belichick is considering hiring him for the North Carolina staff. If you listen to our pregame show, I was a little bit like maybe this is the one.
Starting point is 00:35:54 He's known Belichick for a long time. They share an agent. I got a call after the show, not from Vince, but from another person who was like, hey, man, I wouldn't say that yet. I think there's a really good chance. He stays. Haven't heard anything in 48 hours. You know, the portal, they've gotten three commitments in the portal.
Starting point is 00:36:15 We'll probably talk more about them tomorrow, but actually three really good commitments. A defensive lineman from USC that was good last year, an offensive lineman for Arkansas that has started like 40 games and was all SEC one year, and a lineback from Marshall that was probably the best player on the Marshall team. So they've gotten some good commitments. You know, these pretty good start to the portal, Drew, where are you on this? On the portal, the addition they got today, the offensive lineman Braun from Arkansas, That's a really good gift.
Starting point is 00:36:46 We all know Deline needs help. I think he's going to slide right in at guard. He was all SEC last year. Didn't get that selection this year, but he started every game for Arkansas the last two years. And you wonder some reasons, why are guys hitting the portal? What's the problem?
Starting point is 00:37:01 At least with him, it seems Arkansas has its own issues. If you check on their football program, they're in trouble, they're scattering. If you're the Georgia and you're sitting there wondering about Dane Key, Dane Kee left and you'd go, well, why is he leaving? isn't that kind of what we're talking about here with Arkansas with the offensive line? They have a lot of departures, not just linemen. Even their, I mean, their radio shows are like,
Starting point is 00:37:21 what in the heck's going on over here? So with him specifically, I don't know exactly why he went to the portal, but it's not as concerning because he could be running from a bad situation. He's played a lot of good football for two seasons in the SEC. I mean, I think their first three commitments from the portal are good. I also know on at least one of those three, the main recruiter was Vince. So that would succeed.
Starting point is 00:37:43 suggest you think he's coming back, Ryan, if a guy would go ahead and commit? I was anxious to hear your update on Vince, because you obviously know him more better than any of us. So with the fact that you... I haven't really known what to do, to be honest. Yeah. I haven't not talked to him. You know, I said this on the pregame show. Normally when this is happening, if I'm being honest, I talk to him and I have a sense of where he is.
Starting point is 00:38:08 I have not heard from him. I'm hesitant to... So I don't know. I don't know. Is that a red flag? It was for me in the afternoon until somebody told me, don't let that be a red flag. So, I mean, if I were you, if I was, if I was UK and if I was Vince Marrow, and I knew Vince was coming back, I would go ahead and make that statement. Right.
Starting point is 00:38:28 Yeah. He made it a couple weeks ago, but I love Vince. It wasn't the most powerful statement in the world. There was some, you know, there was some hesitation. We talked about it. I would just go ahead and say, smack it down. I think that would be good to do, be up to him through whether they do it. Yeah, I need to put something out there.
Starting point is 00:38:51 We're all friends here. After the pregame show, I went to dinner before Kentucky Louisville, sitting there by myself, having a nice meal, and I heard a voice behind me. I heard you've been talking about me. And I even said, I know that voice, and I turned around, and it was Vince. I've gotten that before. Well, I called him Little Dog when he was considering Louisville as my first time.
Starting point is 00:39:10 You didn't just say Little Dog, you went, meow. So we addressed the little dog situation. What did he say? He said, you're my guy, patting me on the back. But then I said, you said little dog. I did. We're past that. But staying topical, I asked him if we could FaceTime Bill Billichick.
Starting point is 00:39:26 He said absolutely not. But I was pressing a little bit. You know me? I'm kind of a goofy, I'm playing the friendly, goofy guy role. But I never asked him directly. It was a random run in. He probably, I'm sure he didn't want to see me out. But I can just tell you the vibes felt good around him talking about it.
Starting point is 00:39:40 Just kind of indirect. He even mentioned the commitment they got today. So, I mean, he's still locked in on recruiting visits. It's tough. I did like the conversation we randomly had before the Louisville game. It's tough. I mean, it's tough for me. I know it's tough for you.
Starting point is 00:39:54 Like, it's tough. You know, if I were to hear that Ryan is considering going to the Greenie show, you know, that's a hard conversation to have. I don't want to be like Ryan, give me the scoop on if you're going to Greenie. So I think we just have to see. All I know is this kid today, he was the main recruiter there, and the kid's coming. So you would think he would have asked,
Starting point is 00:40:23 are you going to be here, Ryan? So I'm hearing two things that make me feel a little better about it. One is the call you got after the pregame show, it said what they said. And now this Braun guy, if Vince was the main recruiter on him. And Drew tried to call Bill Belichick. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:40 So Shannon looked this guy up. He's 6-6. 340 pounds. He's a monster. Yeah. And unlike Mincy and a couple of guys we got from the SEC last year, he played and started. This was not like he was like he played.
Starting point is 00:40:55 24 straight games. The kid from USC is a freshman that by the end of the year was starting for USC. It was Marshall, that linebacker was their best defensive player. Like these are guys who've actually performed haven't theoretically could. I'm still being cautious to not just flip the switch and say, oh, they fixed it. But objectively, these are good additions that you can be a little hopeful for. I'm still, when we get to fall, I'm not going to be predicting 8 and 4 anything crazy like I have in the past. But to give them credit, these are good ads so far.
Starting point is 00:41:25 The Braun dude, is a six year. You're going to be a super senior, I believe, two years at Florida and then two years at Arkansas. Tell me about stock to mortgage. Well, if you're ever thinking about building a new home, maybe you're thinking about refinancing, maybe you think about building a new deck on the back of your home or swimming pool, your first call needs to be to Stockton Morgan. They can hold your hand through the entire process, make it easy as possible. You work with the same loan officer from start to finish, get to the closing table.
Starting point is 00:41:48 And, you know, the spring buying season is going to come up quicker than you think. So we get pre-qualified now to be ready for the spring buying season. Stockton Mortgage, Stockton.com, NMLS, 8259, equal housing lender. All right. We have another commitment, too. Okay. Alex Wollschlager. He's an offensive tackle from Bowling Green, first team All-Mack.
Starting point is 00:42:08 offensive tackle. I know this was, that was a guy they really wanted. By the way, all these dudes, we've talked about. I'm not sure about the Marshall kid, but the USC kid, the Arkansas kid, and now this Walshlogger,
Starting point is 00:42:20 there were many other SEC teams that wanted those guys. So he was All Mac, too. That's another all conference guy. Yeah, all Mac. Tackle, a definite position of need. Edge rusher, a definite position of need. They've got two guys already.
Starting point is 00:42:34 All right. Be right back. S. Ks. Oh, tell it. Last night. A blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending, opinions are flying, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened.
Starting point is 00:42:46 That's where Sports Slice comes in. I'm Timbo. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing and we're still chasing it and we don't know when we've done enough because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses.
Starting point is 00:44:02 Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth? Are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person. It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano and our podcast Point Game is about defying the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
Starting point is 00:44:39 And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
Starting point is 00:45:00 he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers why he got the ball. Like, after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick.
Starting point is 00:45:24 Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey everyone, it's Ryder Strong and Will Ferdell from PodMeets World. And now the Pod Meets Twirled podcast. Starting point is 00:45:55 I know we annoyed a lot of our listeners by our severe lack of survivor knowledge. That is the point of the show. I'm just going to remind you. I have watched some Survivor. I obviously haven't watched enough. Did people not like it? Yeah. Just because we...
Starting point is 00:46:10 Yeah. We'll be recapping the big conclusion in the 50th season from the final attempts at gameplay to the desperate plea as finalists to a bunch of... Ha, ooh. Ha ha, ooh.
Starting point is 00:46:21 Again, we are experts. So make sure to tune in to PodMeets Twirled for all our Survivor 50 takes. Listen to PodMeets Twirled on the IHeard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, guys? This is Clever Taylor the Fourth.

This linebacker walks up to me, he goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Quarterback on office blue with 42.
Starting point is 00:46:56 Hey, rep, my mama want you to wave at her. What? Hey, Miss Parker. So happy birthday to Freddie Maggard. We love us from Freddie Maggard. Send a little happy birthday note this morning.
Starting point is 00:47:57 He doesn't social media anymore, so we can't hit him up there. But I know everybody listening loves Freddie. What is he 40 this year, Ryan? I think he's turning 40. A little older than that. Happy birthday to Freddie out there. I think I'm a little older than him, so he's probably mid-50. Yeah, he's between me and you.
Starting point is 00:48:14 Yeah. Like you're 67 and I am 35 and so he's probably like somewhere. That's right. I think he's probably like 50 or 51. Is that right? Number 18 in your programs and number 18 on the all-time passing list. Is that right?
Starting point is 00:48:28 Yep. I didn't realize that. He's the original number 18. Yeah, well, I didn't know. A lot of the way for all the others. A lot of good 18s over the years. Who's next, Shannon? Let's go to Blake.
Starting point is 00:48:35 Blake, go ahead, Blake. Hey, guys. I just wanted us talk about how the stray cats is a great name and the marksmen are a great name for the team. I think there's a good way to combine both of them. Since we're in the NIL era and people are getting paid to play, and he went out and got everybody called Mark's Mercenaries. That way they understand the assignment,
Starting point is 00:48:56 and I'll let you guys think about that. But I don't know how that combined them. There's nothing about the stray cats. What about the remarkable? Well, the stray cats are, they have to go find them. They bring them together, you know. Okay. All right.
Starting point is 00:49:08 I appreciate the call. No. these are all rough drafts you know we're writing in pencil here we'll get it figured I will say I will give some credit the away away away thing starting to get legs I had a here at the bar
Starting point is 00:49:24 that chance started I'm told it Jack Dempsey's in New York they had a full house that chance started and I heard that it kind of there were parts of it in the arena starting to it's starting to go I can confirm it's getting a little louder and louder. Hopefully as it gets legs, people won't cut the legs out from underneath it and ask it to sit back down, but it has gotten louder each game. They're trying, whoever's starting it out.
Starting point is 00:49:47 I was hoping it would that little stretch at the end of the second half where he got to took over. How good was he at the team? He was awesome. You know, he misses the free throw, which was a big free throw, but then comes right down and immediately steals the ball back, gets the dunk. Yep. Then he hits the three. Where were you on shooting that three? That was a no, no, no, no, no, okay, yeah, that was one of those shots. Well, early in the clock. I mean, it was a seven point game. Like, it was way early in the clock.
Starting point is 00:50:15 But it went in. That was definitely a no, no, no. Okay, yes, good. I think Pope wants him to shoot that shot, though. Have you got the open look? Even if it was a minute? I don't know. I mean, we're up seven.
Starting point is 00:50:29 There's a minute six left, and there's still 23 seconds on the shot clock. I'm not sure if Mark Pope was honest that he wanted him to fire that. I think Oway heard KSR, and we've been talking about how he's been missing that open three the last couple of games, and he said, you know what, I got your open three right here. Here you go. It ended the game. I mean, so whether it was a good shot or not, he made it.
Starting point is 00:50:50 And once he did, it was over. What's next? Tom. Tom, go ahead, Tom. Yeah, I was at the game Saturday, and I was curious, and I don't know if you know the answer to this, but twice in the first half, I think it's the under 12 and the under four timeouts. Kentucky had just scored baskets,
Starting point is 00:51:13 kind of had some momentum from them, and then, you know, Louisville takes a ball out of mount. And all of a sudden, the referees just stopped the clock for reasons I never could fad them. And then we go to the under 12-under-four-time-outs. World was effectively getting free time-out.
Starting point is 00:51:29 Yeah, the under-12 one, the under-12 one made Pope mad. I think the under-12 one was an injury, or at least a potential injury. The guy had gotten, hurt on the other end of the floor. And I actually thought that one was appropriate because when a guy gets hurt,
Starting point is 00:51:45 they wait until you get the ball on the offense. I was good with that one. I understand what you're saying about the under four, and I never got an explanation on the under four, and I'm with you on that. It felt like it kind of helped them, and I didn't love it. Yeah, I'm with you on the Pat Adams.
Starting point is 00:52:02 I think he's the worst official out there. Yeah, appreciate the call. The under 12, that guy got kind of, he was kind of limping down the court. I understood that. Pope didn't like it, though. I saw Pope kind of looked at the referee like, you just gave him that.
Starting point is 00:52:15 It looked like there was a couple times, for the first time this season, Pope was about to lose his temper. You could tell he was just getting close where he maybe, you know. I thought, I actually agree with Pat Kelsey. I thought the officiating was inconsistent. I didn't think it favored either team necessarily.
Starting point is 00:52:33 I think we got a couple breaks. There was a time they called a walk on Louisville that I don't think was a war. walk, but then there was another time that the guy did walk and he didn't call it. So it kind of evened out. I just thought it was inconsistent. It was never clear. You know, they went long, here's the time with calling no fouls.
Starting point is 00:52:49 And then they'd call six fouls in two minutes. It just was never clear to me how they were letting them go. Yeah, that's why you got to be, you don't want to sound whiny when you're talking about refs in a game, but they were just objectively bad each way. I mean, there were just several missed calls in a game of that magnitude that I'm sure we're going to find out billions of people were watching. The refs just didn't have a good performance. Yeah, the big.
Starting point is 00:53:08 the big white dude on Louisville, there was one play where he literally switched pivot feet. Oh, yeah. And they didn't call a foul. And then at the end of the game, it's a seven-point game. And they called him for traveling, and he didn't. And both calls were big in the moment, and they missed them both completely. He took about seven steps when he changes his pivot foot. Yeah, I mean, he did one of those.
Starting point is 00:53:30 He shuffled all over across the court. Yeah, he was like doing a little dance, and they didn't call it. But to be fair, I don't think he walked at the one at the end. It was bad both ways. Who's next? Let's go to Matthew. Matthew, go ahead, Matthew. Hey, guys.
Starting point is 00:53:44 I just wanted to call in and express my support for calling, and this guy that's complaining about him standing up is probably the biggest clown take I've heard in 2024 this year. It's pathetic, and if he wants to see, he should just buy the seats in front of him. I'm going to hang up and listen. Appreciate the call. Well, this is going to be, I mean,
Starting point is 00:54:06 when the Brown game happens on New Year's Eve, It's New Year's Eve in the afternoon. There are going to be people standing. And UK is going to have to figure out what their policy is. People are now going to be standing to support Caleb and these guys are getting yelled at. You know, I'm going to support them by standing up. I totally agree with you. I mean, I think that's going to happen.
Starting point is 00:54:23 Are you excited for Ohio State Saturday? It's a weird time of our season where we don't play for a week and then we don't play for another 10 days. We've got two days. And we play at two in the afternoon on New Year's Eve, which is kind of an odd time to play basketball. It's weird. two games in 17 days, like you said, the ones in the afternoon game. But New York? New York.
Starting point is 00:54:41 I think we get a good crowd in New York? Auburn just destroyed Ohio State this weekend. Auburn beat Ohio State by 40. Yes. They won't have 10 people there on their end. Yeah, I mean, they literally will have the playoff game that night. I don't think it's going to be a huge crowd. Tomorrow we will not be at the bar, but then we will for the rest of the week.
