Welcome, everyone. It is Kentucky Sports Radio here from a very tired, what, Windsor, Colorado,
where last night we watched Kentucky lose at home to Clemson.
You could give us a shout on the Clark's Pubbit Shop full line 859-2-80-2-80-7.
A-Vision Auto Glass Text Machine is 772-7-4-254 in this edition sponsored by the T.J. Smith Law Office.
We call T.J. He'll make them pay.
We are here on our road trip to Seattle, the halfway point here in Windsor, Colorado.
A lot of stuff going on.
Kentucky loses last night to Clemson.
It is also signing day.
We'll keep you updated on that.
pretty much everyone has signed, right?
As far as I know, I haven't checked the latest updates in the last 30 minutes or so.
Everybody that was supposed to sign has signed, and they got one flip, by the way.
They got a top...
Cam Miller.
Cam Miller, a top 25 athlete.
That's a position where they rank where you can play lots of different positions.
He's a top 25 athlete.
He flipped this morning from Wisconsin to Kentucky.
So they end up only losing Josh Katas' brother and the running back, which was a big loss with the running back.
they're going to end up somewhere between 25 and 30,
likely Drew, with the football class today,
absent a surprise later in the morning.
Yeah, Davis was a huge loss.
That was bad news.
He was one of the highest prospects they've ever had.
He's going to Missouri instead.
I'm sure these kids are going to be great,
but I'm really interested in what they're going to do in the portal
because they need immediate help.
I don't know if any of these guys are going to be able to help them out right away.
There's a lot of things to fix.
I think there's two guys that they see coming in and play minutes,
but I mean, I think a lot they're going to rely.
max on guys from last year. But we'll get to all that. But the biggest story of the basketball
game last night, we went to bed, I guess, about 215 Eastern time last night after doing
the postgame show, Kentucky loses to Clemson, store for, floor stormed. We talked a lot
about the game and the details last night, so we'll just do a little bit and let you take
your calls. 859-280-2287. After you've slept on it, Ryan, does the loss last night
stick with you or do you think hey we're going to move forward?
Yeah, like I said last night, it really doesn't disappoint me they lost.
I kind of thought they might even lose that game going into the game last night,
so it doesn't disappoint me.
We're all, I think we're just disappointed with the way the offense kind of
seemed to just not look very good.
Max, I did the emotional hedge of betting last night.
I know.
I bet Seattle Cracken over my Carolina hurricanes.
I bet Arkansas when they were down in the nine in the second half to win, which they did.
And then I bet Clemson.
in part right before the game.
I didn't want to win any of them.
I ended up winning all three.
And I bet the Clemson won in part because I just kind of felt like a game was going to come
where the sort of lack of ability to execute down the stretch would come into play.
And with everything else that happened, they were still down two with the ball at the end
and had a shot, had three open looks at three, missed them all, and you end up getting lost.
Yeah, I think if it was a one-off game, we'd be.
probably be a bit angry at Mark Pope for the rotations. I think he, maybe we found out some stuff
about our lineup last night, how many guys can play, and we'll find out even more against Gonzaga.
But I think, you know, Butler getting into foul trouble definitely hurt us because we struggle
to score when he's off the court. That's the biggest takeaway for me. I mean, I think if you go
back and you look at this game at the end of the season, the biggest takeaway will be without Lamont
Butler, Shannon. This team, it's a different team. Yeah, and he did that with the tweaked ankle too.
So you got to factor in the, he had that mid-game injury.
Yeah, we lost him in the first half.
Pope says he expressed regret.
He said, I love this line, which I haven't heard a coach say.
I'm sure somebody else has said it.
You don't want to coach your way into a guy fouling out,
basically meaning you coach him out by not letting him play.
In the first half, we went from up five to down seven at halftime,
I think primarily because he went to the bench.
And when he got hurt, we came back, took the lead.
I think we were up two in the second half.
It's hurting.
It changes again.
He was everything for the team last night.
And you saw what happens when the team comes in and slows Kentucky down.
It kind of disrupts their offense.
And that's what you had last night.
You know, a lot of questionable shots.
I think Amari, we talked about last night on the postgame show, just dribbled too much.
What are we going to do about the Amari?
Yeah.
They got it set up where he initiates the offense, man.
I just don't think that's the best idea.
I mean, that's a key part of what Mark does.
I think in a perfect world, Mark would have Drew.
about a two inch taller,
hey, come on in guys.
About a two inch taller,
Amari, like a two inch tall,
Andrew Carr as his center would be what he'd like.
A center who can shoot threes and also initiate the opposite.
He doesn't have that.
So because of that, you end up with two guys who are very athletic.
I think Hamar is a great defender,
but leave something to be desired when he gets the ball there at the top of the key.
Amari is very helpful on the glass.
He's a great defender.
He can even make a good defender.
a great pass when he's just stationary at the top of the key. I don't know if he grew up watching
Ann One mixtapes like some people, but he seems to think that he's a guard at times and
wants to do a little too much off the drivel when it seems unnecessary. Mario, you DM the players.
I saw Kobe Brayle was like, what up Mario? And you know, Mario's at the age. Like he's, you know,
I think you were at the Lamont Butler rap shoot. Did you pump and shop? Yeah, I think you pumped,
you shopped, and you used the app. I think you did all of them.
Is that, can you, can you tell Amari not to dribble?
Is that, you're not going to tell him that?
How about one dribble in a shot?
No.
I'm still with one dribble.
It's all about where he gets the ball.
Yeah, I mean, he scored six points at the end because he gets the ball right under the basketball.
He has decent little touch when he gets it right next to the basket.
It's when he tries to go off the dribble, it's over.
He's effective down low.
Get him on the block and just put him down there.
But when he starts spinning and trying to work his way down the, we're all just screaming.
No, no, no, no, no.
No, no, no.
Biggest takeaway.
He takes away so much of his good with, I forgot what he had last night,
but when he's having four and five turnovers of the game.
He leads the team in turnovers second in the SEC in turnovers.
Second the SEC in turnovers in Chas Lanier,
whose first had 11 in one game.
So the plus minus, to me that's a stat of game.
That's a huge stat.
With Butler M, we're plus 17.
With Crease M, we were minus 21.
With Amari M, we were plus 16.
With Garrison M, we were minus 17.
is 20. That's the stand of the game, right? Yeah, and Chris is going to have his moments where he can
contribute. I think he's going to be that guy we can bring in for some energy, some defense, maybe a
couple of fluky threes. Like he's shown the ability to be able to hit some threes at times,
but he's obviously, again, like I said, I think if Pope, if this was a one-off, like tournament game,
we'd be like, why did he play so much? Like, let's play him a little less and use him in moments.
Biggest takeaway for me that doesn't have to do with stats is you got to play with more
physicality and you know that teams in the SEC every team is going to play Kentucky that way
and we're still everybody's Super Bowl even without Cal.
No, I mean, look, they won, we lost.
I mean, we can't.
But there was no one at their game at Miami and they stormed the court our game at Kentucky.
It was packed.
Packed.
And then we were wondering about the crowd.
I mean, even even Pope used the phrase.
So 859-280-2287.
Let's talk about our situation here in Windsor.
Got seven people who came by this morning.
Thank you all very much.
Appreciate it.
So we are in this house.
Now, we don't know.
This happens sometimes at these Airbnbs.
People who let us use the house don't necessarily know that we're using it for an active radio show.
And they do have a ring doorbell camera.
So they are going to see.
Do you think they think this is going to, this is like, are they partying over there or what?
It is 8 in the morning.
I was talking to Max about this.
You know, they probably see everyone rolling in, but they've got to be thinking, what could be going on?
Yeah, three hours before checking out.
They show up here in a few minutes.
I think we're going to know.
that they're going to be like, what is going on right now?
I've never been at an Airbnb that's so particular about things.
There's notes about which towel to dry your hands with, take your shoes off.
We're up to eight.
All right, yeah.
There's another one.
There's another one.
Take your shoes off.
Yeah.
Now, we all were supposed to take our shoes off.
That hasn't totally happened.
I'm off.
But, well, I'm not, and I don't think our guests are.
But that's okay.
You know what?
That's okay.
Is your rating not ours?
It is my rating.
How is your Airbnb rating, by the way?
It's pretty good.
I used it quite a bit in Europe, kind of bumped it up.
On our last road trip, I got some 5.0s.
People thought what we did was unique.
Yeah.
One person did not like the whole radio show thing.
I can understand that.
Remember, I think it was in Cheyenne.
We did a radio show.
They said we left breakfast everywhere.
You're welcome.
They weren't as thrilled.
I think I got a three from them.
But I think for the most part, with Europe and some of our other trips, it's been okay.
We've had a couple stops where the cleaning crew shows up before our show is over.
Do we know what time we check out is?
Well, this is mountain time.
So I'm going to assume, well, you know, it's when we finish, it'll be 10.
Checkouts at 11.
So I feel like we should be okay.
I'm packed up.
I'm bathed, ready to go.
I could leave whenever you all are ready.
Get out of here before they find us.
I had a nice sleep last night in my bunk bed is the first time since I was about 12 years old that I slept in a bunk bed.
So you two, Drew and Shannon got a bunk bed.
How was that?
It's a bunk bed
Yeah, how'd you sleep room, mate?
You're about 18 inches above me
I could hear you crack every time that you moved
To the bed was just creaking
Like it was going to fall on top of me
Get a little rhythm there going
When I was a kid I had a bunk bed
I think that's the first time I've been in a bunk bed
Since I was a child
Not going to say it was the best sleep I've ever gotten
Kind of 30 minutes here
Like Opie said on the Andy Griffith show
It's adventure sleeping
Kind of? You know, the ceiling's just like right in your face
I think I was a little worried
I was going to pop up
Knock myself out
But tonight
I'm here.
Every day I'm blessed to wake up here.
Tonight, assuming we get approved at our next place,
which may not happen depending on the rating tonight,
we have five bedrooms, one share.
Max, this is your sleep with Ryan snoring night.
Perfect.
Looking forward to it.
Did lots of preparation, just listening to chainsaw.
I actually return four chainsaws on at night every time I go to sleep
for the last couple months just to be ready.
So you're going from the couch to with Ryan.
Like, what's better?
The next night, though, he'll get a good one.
I love that we've got five bedrooms and someone still has to share with Ryan.
Just put him in one of them.
Well, maybe we'll, yeah.
Ryan keeps snoring himself into the best sleeping range.
He does.
He gets rewarded for being a snort.
That's exact.
Part of why I'm doing it, I don't want to reward him for his defense.
Yeah, I'll start snoring if I get my own room.
Yeah, because he's gotten his own room a lot, and I thought last night that's not really fair.
He's such a snore.
He gets his own room.
I think I got the biggest bed and had all my own bathroom in my bedroom.
Yeah.
Don't expect that to happen again.
Let's go back for a second.
Did it bother you at all that Brea didn't play at all down the stretch?
Didn't play the last 10 minutes.
Yeah, I got to wonder why he was not out there when they were kind of needing a bucket
and they were struggling, shooting all night long.
You know, it could not hit the three last night, and he was sitting on the other bench.
I don't understand that.
When you look at the SEC being 9 and 0, except for us last night, 9 and 1, we were the one.
We're going to have a lot of games this year, at least 9, exactly like that one last night,
where we go on the road.
A couple times we're going to be playing really good teams when we go to Tennessee
and when we go to what?
Do we go to Alabama?
I think we go to Alabama.
Yeah, they come here.
So we play Tennessee and Alabama both places.
So we're going to have two times where you go to a really good team.
But the other seven times we're going to be going to teams that in theory,
we're better than going to their place.
Are you worried we'll see a lot of repeats of what we saw last night as the year goes on?
A little bit.
I'm not like overly worried, but they're going to have to get better at handling
physicality because teams have, I think Western was the first one to expose them.
And Mark Pope even said after that game, like, I know this wasn't fun to watch, but we needed
this because there's going to be a lot of this coming forward.
I think teams know to kind of bully UK and get them out of their motion offense a little
bit.
And, you know, certain players, Jackson was pretty good last night, but in the other games
when they got physical, he kind of shot away from the contact.
I just hope they'll get better as the year goes on because it's not, the physicality is
not going anywhere.
Yeah, my question would be with Breyer is, you know, who do you want to put on the bench then?
because it's obviously Butler, Robinson, Oway, Carr, and Williams.
And it's like, Robinson played better last night.
So if you want to go small, that's fine.
That's a good question.
I think when you go offensively at the end, you take out Williams and you bring it Bray
and you go small.
But the problem was, to be fair, for hope, the problem was this was the first game
when Carr played the five where we got punished for it on the glass.
When Carr played the five, we got destroyed on the glass early in the second half
and in the first half.
So that probably was why he was hesitant to do it.
Yeah, he got pushed around down there when they tried to go small.
And he, he, all three of our bigs did not play well.
Garrison, Williams, and Carrick, all three of them struggling last night.
I wasn't as upset about the rotations.
It's just, you had open looks.
You missed them.
I mean, they're banking in threes.
It was just a matter if you make your free throws.
Do we leave the country in teams bank in threes against?
Easily.
I mean, that was great defense.
And that dude threw a line drive at the backboard.
That was a big.
We were up one.
I thought we played.
That might have been our best defensive possession.
You're right.
And he line drives a three end to put him up, too.
I thought that was a big possession in the game.
Sometimes things like that just happened.
And Oway had three great looks.
If any of those go in, maybe it's a different story.
Like I said, last night, all the guys you wanted to take that shot, he'll be one of my side.
No, he definitely would.
All right, well, 859-28027.
We will take your calls.
We are here.
The Spotify Raps came out this morning that tells you what podcast and songs you listen to.
The most people are sending us.
I like to see what people also listen to in addition to us.
Yeah, and if we're not number one, don't send it to us.
Yeah, don't send it to us if you're number four.
I like when we're number one.
But like I've already seen this morning so far where we're number one, second, pardon my tape.
I've seen a second KSR pre-show.
Nice.
I've seen a second Joe Rogan show.
I saw a second Tucker Carlson, which I'd like to, that's an interesting person.
But I bet we have a lot of.
And then I've already seen a second.
The other one was call her daddy.
I said that's a female listener.
Call her dad.
Okay.
Let me look that one up.
You've never heard that one?
Never heard of that.
We're going to get you out.
Is that popular?
That was the one Kamala Harris went on to her, but he was controversial.
Oh, I didn't watch that one.
We'll listen to that either.
Yeah, it's only the second biggest podcast in America.
All right, we will take a break.
Be right back.

You ladies know what I mean.
I'll bet you a paramedipausal chin here you do.
So let's talk about it.
Join me on my new podcast.
How hard can it be with the Adamia Riva,
where I call on my Gen X squads from Ohio to Hollywood
as we navigate midlife's most fantastic BS.
All of a sudden, I'd had hanginess happening on my own.
I was like, what the hell is that?
I was married when I had her,
so I didn't even consider how empty that nest was going to be.
Mood swings, night sweats, fupas,
sex drive, wait, what sex?
Dating at 45. How high can it be?
Getting naked at 50 with the new guy.
That one's kind of hard.
Well, that's lighting.
They say we can't polish a turd, but we're sure going to try.
So let's get blunt with laughs, tears, or tears of laughter,
and dive into it, unfiltered and unbothered and ask,
how hard can it be?
I cannot believe I'm about to say this out loud in public.

And I'm CJ Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defining the odds.
Brian heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves,
I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series
because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us everything he gets.
gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson,
we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nass would get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
He running up the court, licking his fingers why he got the ball.
Like, you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah.
You figure it out real quick.
Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball.
So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app,

Welcome back.
It is Kentucky Sports Radio.
here in Windsor, Colorado.
I do want to say a word about last night.
How about, what was it, 40 to 50 people showing up at a random bar that Mario picked to watch
the game last night.
And we didn't even unveil what we were going until late in the afternoon.
And those people showed up, that was awesome.
That was really a lot of fun.
Yeah, bring that away from your mouth.
Yeah, it sounds like you're eating the microphone.
Ayah, yeah, yeah.
Okay, that's funny.
Mario called them too and gave them a warning and they kind of laughed him off.
Yeah, Mario was like, we may have.
some people there tonight and they didn't act there like whatever and then all of a sudden
they had two servers for 45 people yeah well we walked in there weren't that many people
in and then all of a sudden the entire section was kentucky fans they should uh thank mario for
they should have they should have i will tell you they charged you because i paid for it and uh
so i know they didn't give it to give it grottis a lot of fun though that big crowd there
that was a big crowd there watching the game with us last night i like there was a woman that was
a uk graduate that didn't know u k fans were going to walk that was a really good there's just a woman
there who didn't know.
She was like, why are all these UK fans here?
She just lived here.
And I said, have you heard of Kentucky Sports Radio?
And she goes, no.
And I said, well, you ought to look us up.
And she said, yeah, I don't listen to radio.
I was like, well, okay.
I mean, I didn't know what to answer to that.
It would be weird, though.
You're out watching your team and stayed far away,
then 40 people roll in doing the catch chance.
That was a nice surprise for them.
The O-Way chant got going.
The O-Way-Gent.
I got it going.
I wish it would get going in Lexi.
But take my breath O-Way, though,
didn't quite catch on yet.
Come sail away.
We still have potential.
Give it away, didn't start either.
Yeah.
Let's do one.
Let's do one.
Let's see.
One person writes, Matt, I am worried about games like this.
I think that we could lose a lot of games like this.
It doesn't seem to be our forte.
I agree.
But we also, I mean, look at the best teams in the SEC.
Okay.
So Alabama plays like us.
Auburn plays kind of like us a little slower.
Tennessee will get this is like Clemson's a worst Tennessee right how Tennessee
will play us when we play so this will be a good test for them old miss will play us like
that that's a road game they beat Louisville last night by 25 points to be honest with you
this is how cow's going to play us right this is exactly what cow's going to do to us when we
play Arkansas so I mean this will be now we're going to go play Gonzaga who's going to
play us like Duke plays it's going to be a lot more up and down it won't be like
this. But this is, we're going to see games like this. And in the tournament, we would definitely
see games like this. Yeah, and it's a little concerning right now, and I'm not trying to justify
the loss or do any moral victories, but if you just make a few more shots, that was a pretty
horrible shooting performance from three. Free throw was embarrassing. That's three straight
games like that. Are you worried about that? Get a good shot down the stretch.
I mean, that should make you worry, but we've seen how good they can be. So I guess I'm not
long-term worried. You're not? No, I think they need to keep shooting, shoot more.
I mean, we talked about before the season started, Pope won at 35 to 43 point attempts.
They're shooting 25, 26, 27.
So I think just keep shooting.
The numbers are going to average out.
We've got good shooters.
You know, it's just a matter of you've got to keep taking those shots until they fall.
Kerr wouldn't have him coming close last night.
I think he was 0 for 4.
So do we have a Kerr problem?
You guys, especially you two, you troublemakers over here.
You love, you love Kerr.
I mean, Kurt was really bad.
There's a significant gap between he and Butler right now.
That's clear.
Last night, I mean, I don't know what Kerr did well.
They were taking him off the dribble.
His threes were, felt like they were just clanging off the rim, never stood a chance.
It felt like it was a bad night.
I think if we can find maybe five minutes out of Robinson or someone else to run the point,
rather than him when Butler has to take a break or even, and then the other problem is when Williams comes off the court, too.
You don't really have that good center to replace him.
I'd like to see Robinson probably as the.
the backup point guard.
I'm not saying you don't play Kerr,
but I do think,
I mean,
Kerr played more minutes last night than Butler.
Can't do that.
Ambria.
Well, out of necessity,
because you said if you got in foul trouble.
But it wouldn't be necessity if we,
wouldn't be necessity if we had a different backup point guard to play sometimes.
One of my positive takeaways in the game is Jackson Robinson.
You know,
he showed up and kind of,
you know,
became the offensive guy we thought he was going to be.
Yeah, 859-2-287.
Doesn't he sound like you're eating,
your microphone.
There, does that sound better?
Much better.
You've been in this industry more than anybody,
and you had it up your nose right there.
Okay, who's up first?
Bluegrass is up first.
Bluegrass, go ahead.
What's going on, fellas?
How are we doing today?
What's up?
I'm still a little bit concerned, Matt.
Just like at the first of the year,
when we first started this,
I think our, it seems like our
defenders can't shoot, our shooters
can't defend,
And it's like we've got good defenders, we've got good shooters, we just, it's hard to space these out, right?
Yeah, but again, all right, so we didn't shoot well last night.
You could argue we haven't shot well before.
But before that, Butler shoots well, Robinson shoots pretty well, O-A shoots pretty well.
I think they're also our three best defenders.
I mean, those are our three best players.
Carr, I think, is in that group, but he can't defend.
He's not a good defense.
Not at all.
So, he had a few good plays, a good block here and there, but he is a weakness.
I will say this.
I noticed this last night.
We played decidedly below the rim.
Yeah.
Outside of, outside, if you think about it, we don't have a lot of leapers, right?
Butler's not really a leaper.
Always pretty athletic.
Robinson's not a leaper.
Carr's not a leaper.
Our bigs are pretty athletic, but Bray is not a leaper.
Kerr's not a leap.
We play distinctly below the rim.
Even William Schott plays below the rim.
It barely gets over the front of the rim to go in.
Yeah, so, sir, I think that is an issue.
I think when we play below the rim, we surely can't get outworked like we did last night.
That's a great point.
The identity has to be we have to outwork people.
That's a great point.
We can't get outworked.
And I think part of what was frustrating to people last night, Max,
is there was a dude who looks like Shannon.
Wait a minute.
He didn't like me.
Y'all need to stop writing and tell me he looked like me.
That happened way too much.
But the dude had 20 rebounds.
20 rebounds and 20 shots is an insane number for a game.
For a guy that looks like that, too.
I mean, that's a no foul.
And no foul.
Yeah, I appreciate the call.
The no foul drives me crazy.
No dude that plays like that has no fouls.
to call it to the post game show now on the head.
Maybe the ugliest team will play all year.
And maybe it was just the thing where we really were trying to squint, you know,
keep our eyes off them, like not really look at them in the eyes
because they were one of the ugliest teams you'll ever see.
We're a team with six seniors, seven seniors.
I still need to see birth certificates from some of those Clemson guys.
I mean, they look old.
They look old.
I think three of those guys work security at night at buildings in New York City.
As a family and a mortgage.
Yeah, I mean, those dudes, I agree with you.
That was the, that's the, they're left on your line last night.
I'm not here loud from the pre-post game show.
I'm going to leave it for people listening to our podcast.
That may be the funniest thing that's been said on this show in a while.
We're going to take a break.
We are here in Windsor, Colorado.
This is Kentucky Sports Radio.
Welcome back.
It is Kentucky Sports Radio.
I have the, maybe the number one KSR fan right here.
Top five podcasts on Spotify, KSR, KSR, PSR Pre Show,
Fade This, Fave This,
Sunday mornings with Matt Meyer and the Kentucky Sports Radio Podcast Network.
Wow.
That's impressive.
That's huge.
Thank you to that person for listening.
Think how much sports knowledge they have right now.
None.
Absolutely none.
That's what's great.
Good NFL picks, though.
Yes.
NFL picks you'd be doing really well.
By the way, we're in Colorado.
We're going to go to Vail tonight.
Right.
So if you want to come see the show, tomorrow will be in Vail.
I don't know the place yet, but right now the plan is Vail.
then Salt Lake will be where our show will be on Friday for people.
So we're looking at Vale Thursday, Salt Lake Friday.
We're going to be in Boise, Saturday, no show.
We're going to be there Friday night and Saturday.
And then Seattle, we're still figuring out what we'll do for pre and postgame for Gonzaga.
But that's the tentative plan, but it's open to change because of weather and other things.
It looks like weather's cooperating, really.
So far.
Yeah, so far.
So far.
So good.
It was nice yesterday.
So far.
Now there are also our stories on the Internet, Shannon, that today a group of aliens are invading
Colorado. Oh, wow. Well, that's bad news for us. We're here. We're in Colorado. As I said last night,
bring it on. I feel like if they're going to invade, we shouldn't know, which is why I don't think they put
out their alien itinerary and they let everybody know where they're going to be in. I don't think that's
what enemies would do. Yeah. So, I mean, what makes anybody think that December 4th, 2024 would be the day
because there are crazy people that think everything. For instance, you all with the Denver airport.
Making jokes about it and trying to brush it off. It's just not real. That's monkey bread of this past. That's $1,000
dollars again in the back pocket. That's what media does today.
A lot of people may not have heard the pre-shows. They don't know what you're talking about.
Now, today, Ryan, I'm actually picking dinner tonight. Yes, you are. But you have lunch.
I do. And we're actually, we only have three hours to veil. So it's not a huge driving day.
So you have some leeway as to where you're going to go. What is your decision?
Well, you know, Max told us there's a place here that serves authentic Australian food.
but we decided last night to go to Vail,
which adds two extra hours to our trip.
What does?
Going to Vail rather than to where Laramie, Wyoming or somewhere?
It does, yes.
So we've already added two hours to our trip,
and if we go to the waltzing kangaroo,
that's going to add another hour to our trip.
Probably.
So I have to kind of juggle that.
One guy or the five of us.
We're not Australian.
Majority rules.
I'm a team guy.
I usually go with a team,
but if we talked last night,
we decided, hell with that.
We're going to eat at the Waltz.
There you go.
So you're going to get to eat some Australian food.
That makes me more happy than you know.
It'll be fantastic.
I haven't had a meat pie in a long time.
What is the meat pie?
So it's kind of like, the best way I can describe it is kind of like a chicken pot pie, but...
But awful?
No, but even better because it's Australian.
So it'll be, no, Ryan, that would be awesome.
I appreciate that.
That would be great.
So we're driving an hour out of the way to eat pot pies?
Yes.
Is that what I'm hearing?
When you taste them, you'll be very happy about it.
I looked up the website.
They look pretty good.
I'm excited about it, too.
We get a little lamb and rosemary.
Mario, will you eat kangaroo today?
You try.
They don't have fireball, Mario.
You guys actually eat kangaroo?
Yeah, of course.
Yeah, it's very late-mate.
Tell him what you call it.
What do you call it?
Roo.
Roo.
They call them Roo.
Yeah, everything in Australia is shortened, so we just have roo pies?
I don't know if they have root pies.
I'm guessing they would.
It's called Walts and Kangaroo, but I don't know.
I don't know how accessible that is here.
So there you go.
They've got alien pie.
That's what we'll do tonight.
One person writes, Matt.
You guys are way too negative about this game.
It's one game.
You lose.
I don't think anyone thought we were going to go undefeated.
No big deal.
If we beat Gonzaga, it's fine.
Well, that's a big if, if we beat Gonzaga,
Gonzaga may be one of the best teams in the country.
So if we beat Gonzaga is a big if.
Now, I think we're going to be fine even if we lose to Gonzaga.
But if you're going to throw in the if we beat Gonzaga,
they're a lot better than the team we just play.
Yeah, Gonzaga is better than Clemson.
I think what's alarming to all of us is the kind of Clemson exposed.
to Kentucky, and we're going to, you know, get physical with them or on nights they can't
shoot, where's the offense going to come from?
You know, if you have another night where you're not shooting the ball will, where your
points going to come from?
One person writes, Matt, are you worried that we're shooting the ball so poorly?
Neh.
We've seen them make it, so I can't get too worried about it.
They'll all average out in the end, you know?
We may not be like a 45% shoot throw.
Our guys didn't forget how to shoot overnight.
Not overnight.
Yeah, who's up next?
Darren is up next.
Darren, go ahead, Darren.
And,
Darren.
Hey.
In the time you're ready.
Who are?
What's up?
A couple of observations going back to the Williams comments earlier in the show.
I don't,
I'm not quite ready to make him a scapegoat.
I agree with the fact that he's dribbling too much in the paint and that sort of thing.
But there's an issue with some of our guys, you know,
getting open off of some of those motions on the wind.
and that sort of thing.
That kind of leaves Williams out there by himself standing at the top of the key,
trying to handle the basketball, waiting on somebody to get open.
And we've got to get more physical on our cuts,
and we've got to use our screens better and make some quicker reads
in order for us to have a little more flow offensively.
Second observation.
Totally agree with that.
I totally agree with that.
I totally agree with that.
But if we're not able to get those guys open,
it can't be him that's left with the ball at the end.
Like if we have a problem getting our guys off those curls and the rip screens,
then we're just going to have to have somebody else on the top of the key
because he cannot be the guy backing people in to start our offense.
That's maybe the worst offense you could have.
Understandable.
And that, you know, now that we've had that experience,
I'm sure Coach will make an adjustment on that.
We've had it for a few games.
I mean, he had a bunch of turnovers the other night against Western, too.
He did. He certainly did. Second observation, Kobe Brea, some comments were made previously about him not being in the last 10 minutes or so, or only briefly.
You know, he has a hard time with the physicality as well.
He does.
He's got to move more. He's got to move more without the basketball. He's got to use screens better. He's got to make more decisive cuts.
You know, that sort of thing, in my opinion. And hopefully that'll get him ready to shoot the ball on the catch.
of not having his feet square when he receives it
or being just a tad bit out of rhythm and out of time.
All that's true.
All that's true.
All that's true.
But that's, but that, but thank you.
And I appreciate the call.
But you can't just keep going to the well of something that's not working.
And it wasn't working last night.
So, I mean, Mark will make adjustments.
Mark said at the end, I wish I'd maybe made some different lineup things.
And we'll see if he changes that Saturday against Gonzagam.
You said this on the postgame show.
It was the first time we've seen a glowing,
drop off when the bench came in from the starters last night.
Huge drop off.
Yeah.
I mean, it's a huge drop off.
Here's the thing with Williams, too, though, and we don't want to keep hopping on it.
But if he goes down the block where we think he's at his best offensively, then he takes
away all that spacing.
So it's like, what do you want to do?
You want him up the top, and then he's going to have to dribble sometimes, or you want him
down the block, and then we lose all the spacing.
Yeah.
Well, this gets to the whole, like, two bigs thing, which is it's hard with Andrew Carr,
who I actually think does pretty well down low, because then he's, he's, you know,
He gets forced out top, which is fine when he's just shooting threes.
But we're trying to beat people off the dribble.
That can also be a problem.
But when they're hitting shots, if we had shot threes better, I don't think any of this would have been an issue.
Maybe a few free throws here and there.
Maybe you got to bank in a fastball.
Carr, I could be wrong on this because we still haven't seen a lot of it,
but I feel like he turns down some open threes.
And what we saw in like some of the preseason things, he seemed like a good shooter.
There were a couple times last night.
I wish he had just taken a three-pointer when he had it.
Yeah, playing a little too timid.
I mean, going back to Kobe Brady or the caller mentioned there,
I mean, he's a guy that I want taking 8 to 10 shots a game.
He had three last night.
You've got to figure a way to get him open.
I agree.
Are you all happy or sad that the SEC went 9 and 1?
I mean, on the one hand, that's good for the conference.
SEC has clearly passed the ACC of basketball.
On the other hand, we were the 1.
Yeah, I don't like that.
9 in 1 sounds great until you're the 1.
You're the 1.
Yeah.
It's not a great step, but after someone said it last night, I didn't think about it again,
and I probably won't think about it again from here.
I mean, it's a silly note, but it doesn't really affect what I think of Kentucky.
What was tonight?
Auburn and Duke tonight?
You got Auburn Duke, you got North Carolina and Alabama.
That's right.
So you got-
Vandy Virginia Tech.
I don't think that one's going to lead the TV ratings.
Hey, what if all those teams win and we're still the one loss?
I will say.
I need someone else in the SEC.
lose tonight. We cannot go 15 and 1, and we're the one. We're the one. That would be,
that would be annoyed. Because 16 and 0 would have been like shut the ACC down. Now that's a story.
That's a big story. They go 16 and 0. That's right. Hey, stop over paying for sunglasses, Max.
Okay. Are you tired of buying your expensive sunglasses only to lose or break them?
Absolutely. Or worse, what if they get dirty? That's even worse. Are they saying Shady Ray's doesn't get dirty?
Never. Independent American home company started right.
there in Kentucky.
Running, fishing, biking, you name it.
Shady Raes is the place.
They offer the best protection program in the industry
to take your next adventure on.
You can go biking with them here in Colorado,
skiing, go to Shady Raise, grab a pair of their shades.
Don't worry about breaking them.
Replacement guarantee.
Try the entire collection in person in Lexington and Louisville

That's another company, Shannon, like Cornbread.
Started with us.
And now I just see them everywhere.
They've got 250,000 five-star reviews.
It's a lot of five-star reviews.
Those two companies literally started with us at cornbread and shady raisin now are everywhere.
We knew them when they were just little babies.
I knew them when they were at the skyline trying to get me to invest.
And Shannon said, don't do it.
Wait a minute now.
Don't throw me under the buzz.
It was you.
It's you that we can't get a place with six beds.
It's your fault.
We'll take a break and be right back.
This is KSR.

And on my podcast, The Cliverts show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff.
Like being an internet famous referee.
We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker...
They know these kids.
This linebacker walks up to him and he goes,
Hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue with 42.
Hey, rec, my mama want you to wave at her.
What?
Hey, Ms. Parker.

American soccer is about to explode.
The World Cup is coming.
Ramos sending on the earnings.
I'm Tad Ramos.
I'm Tom Boe.
On our podcast, Inside American Soccer, you'll get the real storylines.
I'm not worried about Policic.
I'm not worried about Balligan.
I'm not worried about McKinney.
My only concern is what happens in the back.
The biggest decisions.
If you're going to look at stats and numbers,
he has no shot at making this World Cup team.
And the truth about the U.S. national team.
It wouldn't be a huge surprise if our team ends up in the quarterfinals
or potentially a great run into the semifinals.
The World Cup is almost here.

Hey, I'm Deanna Maria Riva, actress, mother, lover,
and a Gen X woman walking through life one hot flash
and hormonal crying jag at a time.
You ladies know what I mean.
I'll bet you a perimenopausal chin here you do.
So let's talk about it.
Join me on my new podcast.
How Hard Can It Be with Deanna Maria Riva,
where I call on my Gen X squads from Ohio to Hollywood
as we navigate Midlife's most fantastic BS.
All of a sudden, I'd had hanginess happening on my own.
I was like, what the hell is that?
I was married when I had her,
so I didn't even consider how empty that nest was going to be.
Mood swings, night sweats, fupas, sex drive.
Wait, what sex?
Dating at 45, how can it be getting naked at 50 with the new guy?
That one's kind of hard, you know?
Well, that's lighting.
They say we can't polish a turd, but we're sure going to try.
So let's get blunt with laughs, tears or tears of laughter,
and dive into it, unfiltered and unbothered and ask,
How Hard Can It Be?
I cannot believe I'm about to say this out loud in public.
Listen to How Hard Can It Be with Diana Maria Riva

What's up, fam?
It's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about Define the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves,
I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series
because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
he has to really guard guys like Nas Reed.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us
everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson,
we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nass would get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
He running up the court, licking his fingers why he got the ball.
Like, after you go through a training camp with that, IZAD,
you figure it out real quick.
Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball.
So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
With that sound, Rick is in studio.
We're back here at Kentucky Sports Radio.
You rocking out, Rick.
Who's that?
As Weezer.
Weezer.
He goes with deep cuts.
That's right.
He's not going to play.
He's not playing Buddy Holly.
The sweater song.
You're not going to play that.
So if you go deep in the tracks, don't you, Rick?
That's right.
I don't play any cookie cutter stuff here.
So we found out just a second ago, we're in Windsor.
We're in Windsor.
We found out this is Lauren Boberts District, the Congresswoman.
that, you know, a little out there, went to that theater.
She likes the theater.
She likes the theater.
She likes the theater.
She doesn't stay for the whole show.
Yeah, well, she puts on her own show at the theater.
It's a different kind of show she does.
We're in her district.
How about that?
How about it?
Where's the theater?
Where's the theater?
I like when UK fans walk right in to tell Max about Australia.
Oh, they tell him.
There we go.
I enjoy when they do that.
Somebody writes, Matt, eating kangaroos doesn't surprise me from Australians.
People eat deer in the U.S.
and historically a kangaroo is a T-Rex deer.
A T-Rex deer?
What does that mean?
It means like it's like a prehistoric deer.
This got the little short arms.
Are they saying that kangaroos became deer?
Maybe.
Like in the civilized world.
Sure.
Is kangaroo really common in Australia?
Well, I do say kangaroo is like the Australian deer.
Okay.
I was the same.
Why did you act like that was weird?
You say it's the Australian.
deer like it sounds like this guy knew what he was talking about yeah i don't know what the t-rex
thing is oh okay you don't know but i think we should all try kangaroo i'm afraid it's gonna make us all
a little jumpy oh please oh good god get him out of here thank you this mic off thank you uh one
person writes yeah that was awful uh enjoy your lunch in noco waltzing kangaroo was right across
from the moby gym home of the colorado state uh rams many kutkutkians here and ukklaura state have an equine
science connection program.
Yes, my good friend, Josh Kieran, went to Colorado State as the punter, and he studied
equine, and he's now looking bloodstock agent in Kentucky for horses.
So we have a Colorado State connection.
When I think of Colorado State, I think about the Kentucky connection when they came to Rupp Arena
for the tournament, and the heavy kid was wearing the Ram mascot outfit went viral
of the NCAA tournament that year.
Yes, I do remember that.
I do remember that game.
I think Louisville was in that region.
Louisville played him.
Colorado State put on a good show in Roeville.
When Jurich's kid stared me down in the elevator.
Was it?
Yeah, and sort of was trying to bulk up.
You were in the elevator with Tom and the son, both of them, right?
It's very awkward.
That's right.
That was the year they won the title.
Remember they won the title?
They played their first two games in Lexington that year.
I remember that huge mascot after you said that, yeah.
Yeah, that was a great.
That was great.
859-280-2287.
What's been your thought so far, Shannon?
We drove through Western Nebraska and Eastern Colorado.
Didn't see a lot.
What was your thought of these states?
A lot of empty fields, a lot of nothing.
Smells like poop.
Kind of does.
It reminds me a lot of Kansas.
But it has that Nebraska charm.
It's a little bit different.
I don't know if it's a charm.
I think maybe it's because I watched that movie.
And in my mind, that movie is so charming, Nebraska.
But you really like, it's Will Forte is the, it's Will Forte.
But I like the old man.
He's the star of the movie.
Bruce Dern.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
So I think because that movie is so charming, I apply that to the state of
Nebraska in real life.
In reality, it's basically Kansas.
What about you, Max?
You're the first time out of this way.
Yeah, not a whole lot going on.
Pennies was nice.
Shannon's choice for lunche.
He kind of had that nice, you know,
the grease has been sitting here for 50 years in the pan
that adds that little bit of flavor to the food.
So I thought that was really, really good.
The vents were caked with dirt.
Yeah, the vents were caked with dirt.
The review said the vents are caked with dirt.
They were right.
They were exactly right about that.
That's okay.
Yeah.
You know, they made the food better.
seasoning. That's right. You need a little dirt
tater tots. A little dirt notes never heard anybody.
Who's up next? Steve is up next.
Steve, go ahead, Steve.
Good morning, fellas.
You know, last night's game didn't really bother
me as much as maybe it did
you or somebody. I think Kentucky
learned a lot last night from the loss.
I think there'll be a better team because of it.
Well, I hope you're right. Appreciate the call.
I mean, I think they do learn that they can't
go to the second unit as much
in difficult times. What did you think about the court storm?
I mean, why not? You just beat Kentucky. You're
at home. They had a blackout. It was packed.
You think in December you storm the court?
When you beat Kentucky sometimes you do.
What about them turning the lights off while people were running down the stairs?
I don't understand that. That's probably the worst idea. They didn't think that one
through at all. A little safety issue, I think, with that.
Yeah, that seemed pretty dumb. I mean, it's already a dangerous situation, as we've seen
many times. We've seen firsthand in Indiana. And then,
you're going to be like, oh, let's make it even better.
Let's have them storm the court in the dark.
It looked like Kentucky players kind of got jammed in it for a minute, but they got out of there quickly.
Are you pro?
Are you pro or con objectively now at the game's over?
Are you pro or con the guy who went four for 20 with 20 rebounds that looks like Max?
I like them as long as we're not playing them.
You like him?
Why do you like him?
Just because he's a big, goofy-looking guy and like he can't shoot the ball, but somehow he gets 20 rebounds.
I don't know how he's good.
He doesn't seem like a guy.
that should be playing division one basketball.
Normally a dude that's like that, that's built like that, that looks like that.
If he's good at basketball, the reason is he's a really good shoot.
He can shoot.
But he can't shoot.
So why is he good?
He plays physical, he rebounds.
I agree.
I mean, there's no way a guy like that who goes four for 20 from the field, Drew, should have 20 rebounds and dominate the game.
There's no, it's absurd that it happened.
And by the way, he did the same.
same thing in the tournament last year. I remember watching him in the tournament. I'm like,
this guy's not good, but he's controlling the game. He averages like 12 rebounds for them.
That wasn't a one-off thing last night. If you'd show me a picture of that guy before the game,
and I didn't know anything about him, and you said this dude's getting 20 rebounds in a game of
that magnitude, I wouldn't believe you. Like, that's an Oscar, Oscar night, and that dude looks
nothing like Oscar. I guess he just, he's one of those guys that can find it coming off the rim,
and he's in the right spot and manages to bring it down. A few times he would just run and jump into
everyone and not get called for a foul, but.
Overall, I mean, you got to credit the guy, 20 rebounds and 20 rebounds.
He may be an example, Ryan, of if you just hustle a lot more than everybody else, you can make it work.
If he was on our team, we would all love the guy because of that.
I would tell him to shoot less.
That was definitely on the scatter report.
We're going to let this guy shoot.
But, man, he did.
He just hustles.
He bust his butt.
I thought he looked like the guy that are killing me smalls from Sandlot.
That's him growing up, that kid.
Squintz?
Yeah.
No, we're talking about ham.
Ham.
Ham.
The catter, the great Hambino.
We're going to Salt Lake, Small.
city, by the way, where they filmed that.
I would love to see where the sandlot was filmed.
That's my only thing I want to do.
That's what you want to do.
You want to go see where sand...
It's just going to be a field.
So, it's the sandlot field.
You're going to run the bases?
I might.
But it's just going to be like a field.
It's just going to be grass.
Vincent drug stores there.
You think it's a real drug store?
It is, actually.
It is?
Yeah.
So you, like, you think it'll like...
I think if we're going to Salt Lake City, we should go see it.
I mean, I'll take you there, but like you really want to see it.
And the house from Halloween 6.
We're not going to see that.
I mean, I'm going to always Salt Lake City.
I want to see the Michael Myers' house.
One of the most beautiful cities in America.
You've got the Mormon Tabernacle.
We're not going to see the house where Halloween six was going.
I'll be taking an Uber.
Halloween one, maybe.
Yeah, it was Halloween one, but when we get to six.
Hey, I loved all the Halloweens.
They suck.
Is that the one with the Wayans brothers?
No, the Wayne's brothers.
Yeah, they were in one.
Now the Buster Rimes was in a movie.
Oh, Buster Rimes.
We'll go to Buster Rimes Halloween House for you.
All right.

When we come back, yesterday, you know, you look at this group.
I've been traveling with this.
You know, I can get frustrated sometimes.
Ryan has a way of getting under things happen.
Drew sometimes we'll get little notions of a temper.
Shannon's a jerk.
So the two people that we think have the least chance of getting into it are Mario and Max.
But in a small town, Mario and Max were threatened.
Lawyers on the way.
What were the exact words?
We'll reveal it after the.
But basically they were told you're going to be in trouble soon.
I'll tell you how these guys almost got us kicked out of Colorado as soon as we got in.
We'll take a break.
Be right back.
This is KSR.
