Starting point is 00:01:47 We're in the middle of a game. This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me, he goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Time out. Look. Quarterback on office blue with 42. Hey, Brett, my mama want you to weigh better. What?

Comedy off Broadway and Lexington welcomes Derek Stroup, December 19th through the 21st, then catch Lexington Native Lee Gemble for two hilarious shows on New Year's Eve, and don't miss Brian Bates, January 3rd and 4th.
Starting point is 00:03:01 Comedy Off Broadway opened in downtown Lexington in 1987, and they're still bringing the best in stand-up comedy to the area 37 years later. Call 859-271 joke or visit ComedyoffBroadway.com. Welcome, everyone. It is Kentucky Sports Radio Friday, January the 3rd here on a cloudy day in Lexington, Kentucky, at the KS Bar and Grill. A rare Friday at the bar. I think our next 10 or 12 Fridays are remotes, but we are here today, and you can come out and see us.
Starting point is 00:03:37 You can give us a call on the Clark's Pubbit Shop. Phone line 859-2-80-2287. A-Visian Auto Glass Text Machine is 772-7-7-4-25-4 in this edition sponsored by the T.J. Smith Law of us. If you call, he'll make them pay, it is really the calm before the snow. So what is the latest here on the snow? Every time I look, I feel like I hear a different thing. What are they saying? It seems to me, of all people I know, you follow the weather the closest.
Starting point is 00:04:05 I heard a report this morning on the radio coming in. They're predicting anywhere between 8 to 9 inches. 8 to 9. That's where we are now. That's where we are now. So not freezing rain, snow. If it changes, like you said yesterday, northern Kentucky could get 8 to 9, and we might get the ice here in central Kentucky.
Starting point is 00:04:21 Which one do we want? I'd rather have the snow. Yeah. And so it's the people to the south of us, then you're looking at like what? E-Town Somerset, is that the ice? Probably, which is awful. You know, that's when they have... Do you know what you're talking about, by the way?
Starting point is 00:04:35 I just heard the weather report this morning. It'll change by this afternoon. Okay. What are you hearing? I... I tuned into the local news last night. I don't do that often. Watched little Chris Bailey.
Starting point is 00:04:46 That's who I went with last night. Trusted him. Sleeves weren't up, but he had like a little map, I guess you could call it. Had purple, pink, and then lighter pink. Lexington was in the pink. That was kind of icy. The purple, North... of us was the snow, but we were right on the line. So it seemed, as of last night, could go either way.
Starting point is 00:05:03 All right. So, Shannon, I'm sending, I just sent you Chris Bailey's number, okay? All right. Why don't you call him? I don't trust either of these two forecasts. I don't trust Chris Bailey. I bet he talks about his pink, purple. You ask Chris Bailey, okay, and see if he'll jump on here for a second and let everybody know about this. All right. Okay. So last night, I tweeted out something that you kind of, you know, I don't know, I just wanted to stir the pot a little bit. I just did a little thing saying, you know, where could I find a good snow output computer model? Because you remember Mark Weinberg said if you post a snow output computer model, I will have you deported to Siberia. Is that what he said?
Starting point is 00:05:46 It was something like that. So I did it. I asked for it. And then I tagged him, Bill Mac, and Chris Bailey. You know, just to kind of, well, first of all, I was looking for a. snow output computer model. And second, I thought those guys would have the best chance of knowing where they were. I'm sure they do.
Starting point is 00:06:05 Now, I didn't know you could do this on social media. So I want to thank Mark Weinberg. First of all, I know Chris Bailey. I know Bill Meck. I like both of them. I do. I don't know Mark Weinberg. I don't know him.
Starting point is 00:06:18 Might be the nicest person in the world. So this is not, I'm not defaming him. He's just a little spicy. And I think he takes his weather a little seriously. Okay. So I tagged him. I tagged all three of them. Tag thing was up about 10 minutes.
Starting point is 00:06:32 And then I went and I noticed that Mark Weinberg was no longer tagged. You know how it'll be like in blue if you tag somebody? His had not gone non-blue. And I was like, oh, I must have made a mistake. Like in how I did it. So I went back and I edited it because you can do that now. And I tagged him again. And then it showed up.
Starting point is 00:06:57 And I was like, okay, you know, I made a mistake, blah, blah, blah. Got up this morning, untagged again. Whoa. Okay. I did not know. I guess you can untag yourself from post. Like, leave me out of this. First of all, hate that because I like tagging Ryan and getting his message box filled.
Starting point is 00:07:19 But I think Mark Weinberg untagged himself twice on my snow impact. put. Can I tell you that I think I know why? Why? He's not very happy with us. Do you remember when we made fun of him because we said that he fart it live on the air? He did fart live on the air. Well, I think all of our people tweeting him and making fun of them, maybe
Starting point is 00:07:39 hurt us feelings a little. He didn't like that. But he did, I mean, he did pass gas if we're being, he did on the air, like that happened. So he untagged himself twice. Does this man take computer snow models more seriously than most
Starting point is 00:07:55 of us treat the most serious news in the world? First of all, if I was part on the air, will you all make fun of me? Yes, you should. Full permission. Yeah. I'm learning this untagging thing for the first time. I saw your tweet where it was just written out and he wasn't blue, and I thought he had blocked you and you just kind of typed it out anyway.
Starting point is 00:08:12 I don't think he's blocked me because it looks like I can still see. Like Pete Thamele has blocked me years ago. And so I can't see a Pete Thamel tweet. Rick Bozich has me blocked. I always wonder what he's saying. Posage bought you? I never know what's behind that wall. There are only like two people that have blocked me that I know of.
Starting point is 00:08:33 Mark Weinberg and Harabalab, the investor, you know, guy used to go on Bill Simmons, and I still don't know why he blocked me either. But Mark Weinberg untagged himself twice from my tweets, which made me sad because I thought he might have the snow computer model. I am hearing this also for the first time, and I am so excited. I cannot wait to learn how to do this when you tag me in one of your ridiculous I'm going to make it to where you can't. Now, do you have Chris Bailey by any chance?
Starting point is 00:08:59 He did not answer. He sent me directly to voicemail. You know, like when you get one ring and it goes to voicemail? We'll tag him. He'll want to come on. He likes to come on. Let's text him, not tag him. Excuse me.
Starting point is 00:09:10 Text him and ask him if he will come on. Because I feel like we need a direct from the person weather forecast. Seems like Mark has taken himself out of a conversation with these big weather personalities. Almost like he doesn't want to be one of the top guys. Well, they all hate each other. I don't want to be on social. I mean, they all hate each other. the OBW Rumble is Saturday night.
Starting point is 00:09:27 By the way, if you like the Royal Rumbers, you can buy that. We're already sold out, so you can't come. But you can buy it on pay-per-view. It's like the game's early, so it's like seven, eight bucks. You can buy it that night and watch. Shannon did not get invited to be in the rubble. Yeah, what's up with that, man? Come on.
Starting point is 00:09:41 Because you are a little, just a little whippur-snapper. You're not an actual, you're not an actual wrestler. Well, you mean I'm not an actual wrestler. But we could put the three weathermen in there, and I would like to, I'd like to see that. Triple Threat match. So maybe a ladder match? You can put Doppler up there? The Doppler on top of a pole.
Starting point is 00:09:59 Doppler on a pole. Doppler is like computer thing, right? The Doppler weather model. Okay. So now it's, have you been to the grocery yet? I am going this weekend. I've not been yet. Well, you better go.
Starting point is 00:10:11 I bet it's like empty now. It may be. It may be. But I'm absolutely going. Are you going today? I have a noon pickup. I'm hoping that everything I ordered is there. A noon pickup.
Starting point is 00:10:19 Straight from here. I'll be going to my parking spot. Shannon, what about you? No. Why are we acting like we're going to be snowed in? for a week. Like, do you... Well, eight to nine inches will snow this city.
Starting point is 00:10:29 You can go a couple of days without going to the grocery store. I can't. You have nothing in your refrigerator. Well, I mean, I don't have anything. I don't have any grocery. Door to ask everything. What do you get in the grocery store? Well, I'm probably going to go to Louisville,
Starting point is 00:10:42 because my Louisville house is closer to places to eat than my Lexington house. And so I'm probably going to go to Louisville. Louisville tends to actually clean up the streets a little bit quicker. honestly, at least in the neighborhood while I live because there are businesses. Yeah. So I'm probably going to go to Louisville and try to hunker down there.
Starting point is 00:11:02 Something we've not talked about. Do we all need to take equipment home in case we're stuck? You need to do the show Monday. I have equipment home. But yeah, there's a good chance. If there's snow and ice, there's a good chance we'll be closed here Monday
Starting point is 00:11:12 and we'll be doing the shows at our various houses. But I'm excited about it. I don't know about you. I like it. Do you all like a big snow like once a year? No. But the kids get to stay home.
Starting point is 00:11:24 Don't you like it? that? No, you want them to get out of your house. It's time for the kids to go back to school. Yeah. You guys don't want to get. You want snow, right? You don't want to go. Who wants to go to school? That's the worst. I don't know one person who's got to show up regardless. You guys can do it from home. He has to show up. They used to back in the day when I heart wasn't cheap, they would, there was a hotel across the street. They would put people like Shannon up in the hotel.
Starting point is 00:11:46 I think they're going to do that maybe, maybe. Oh, they are going to do that for you? So they do that because we have to be on the air for the people. Yeah, Shannon's got to be in the studio. So he could just bring a sleeping bag and just sleep to the studio tonight. Have you prepped? Got your salt down? I don't have any salt. I have a little container, but I don't think that's going to be enough.
Starting point is 00:12:06 Monique just hauled a bunch of salt out in the front. So when's it supposed to start? Sunday evening. Sunday, I think it's a-so not Sunday day. I think it's like Sunday 4 o'clock maybe, something like that. So tomorrow for the game should all be fine. Should be fine. All right.
Starting point is 00:12:19 Should be fine. Well, everybody, be careful with the snow. We'll hope we get Chris Bailey on at some point. and he can let people all over know. Because I do trust Chris Bailey. He takes it very seriously. So Kentucky has to fly out to Georgia. I guess they'll fly out on Monday.
Starting point is 00:12:35 Wonder if that will affect their flight plans. Might. Maybe they'll go Sunday. Maybe they'll go Sunday. You got Mark Fox and Pope used to live there, maybe get their old spots, make a little stay out of it. Yes. We play Georgia on, that's right, on Tuesday.
Starting point is 00:12:47 Now, Kentucky plays Florida tomorrow morning, 11 o'clock. early earliest start for a UK game that I can ever remember. I can't ever remember an 11 a.m. start. I would go so far as to say, I bet we've never had one. And I still don't even know why we have one today, like this week. I went and looked in the future weeks. They're not playing games at 11. Why are they playing it?
Starting point is 00:13:13 Why are we playing at 11? Well, you mentioned, I think, what, Tennessee, Arkansas is after us, and then you got NFL games. So you think they just want to get it done before the NFL? I think so. Squeeze in our games. squeeze in Tennessee Arkansas so yeah ESPN has a double header this is kind of their kickoff to the conference season it is Kentucky Florida followed by Tennessee at Arkansas so two big games yeah to start SEC play but we're first and we are 11 a.m.
Starting point is 00:13:39 Are you feeling confident about the game? Unfortunately I'm not really because just because I think Florida is really really good I mean they're good they're not undefeated for an accident they're a good basketball team they got that what's he's named Clayton Junior, the point guard. Yes, Walter. Walter Clayton Jr. He's played well against us before. Yes, he has.
Starting point is 00:13:58 Very good. You know, we haven't talked about this yet. Florida has a kid that's seven foot nine inches. He is seven foot nine. Have you seen him? Yes. He's mad. Now, he doesn't play.
Starting point is 00:14:06 No. But he, they have a guy, you need to, if you're at the game tomorrow at Rupp, watch him in warmups. He's seven foot nine. He can grab the rim without even being on his tip. How does he not play? You're eight foot tall and you can't play basketball? He's seven foot nine. He, well, I mean,
Starting point is 00:14:22 And I don't say this to be mean to me. He must be terrible. If he's seven foot nine and can't get in, he must be pretty. Just put your hands in there. Kind of slow moving guy. But he is, he is, I'm sure someone that just as a human being, Drew, I would like to just see what he looks like. His clips are incredible.
Starting point is 00:14:43 As you can imagine, he does not have to do anything around the rim, but just lift his arm up and put it in. I assume the reason why he can't play much right now is when you're that big, it's so hard. to be quick and move around. You wouldn't want to be that big. You can't guard anybody. You can't get around. First of all, just think about buying clothes.
Starting point is 00:14:59 Yeah. I mean, just buying clothes in and of itself would be awful. You have to special order everything. Like, I have a friend who has size 15 feet. It's a terrible existence. You can't buy shoes in normal situations. You have to order everything online. Most size 15, everything nice is sold out.
Starting point is 00:15:19 Because it's all NBA players. So you end up having to, it's a tough thing when you're 7 foot 9, I don't know what that guy does. It's not the shoe, it's the pair of pants. Finding that in seems a little different. When Sean Bradley played at 7, 7, 7, he could move a little bit. I'm playing the NBA. People forget he was a second pick in the draft, Sean Bradley was.
Starting point is 00:15:35 This guy's 7-9 and just, you'll see. It's kind of like doesn't move very well. Now, the official line hasn't come out. There are some like unofficial lines floating around. The official line will come out this afternoon. A couple of the unofficial ones had Florida is the favorite. what do you think Kentucky's going to be? You said one yesterday.
Starting point is 00:15:55 You said one or two, Kentucky, just with the home court advantage. I think it's pretty even if these two were just on a neutral court and no crowd and we're just playing basketball. But I think with it being at Rupp, you know, we talk about it being early for Kentucky. I mean, Florida's first true road environment is 11 a.m. That's going to be difficult on them too. But I think Kentucky point or two. Well, I hope here's the thing. I hope Kentucky fans, we need to get to the game.
Starting point is 00:16:20 you need to be there when it starts, right? So we open here at 9. Our show starts at 8.30. Come in, you can have breakfast and then go. But we need to be there ready to go. The problem for this Kentucky team has been the start. We have started poorly in like our last seven games. And I think you mentioned it, Drew, yesterday.
Starting point is 00:16:42 Ryan, we can't start slow. And at 11 a.m. on a Saturday, that's a way you start slow if you're not careful. Yeah, they've got to find an answer to figure out how they can get off to a better start because, yeah, you get down early in some of these SEC games. It may be too late to try to come back because these SEC teams are really, really strong. I genuinely believe that this game is going to be a game that will almost decide what, where can, like, I will bet you at the end of the year. Florida and us are very close to each other.
Starting point is 00:17:15 This could be a game that's a tiebreaker to get a double by in the SEC. tournament. Like I think it could be that important. I think so too. I mean right now I have not have any games yet. Tennessee, Auburn, Alabama, I think could be fighting for one through three. And, you know, Florida, Kentucky, this game could decide who's number four at the end of the year. Still a lot of basketball to be played. But we could be looking at the last week of the SEC and this game decided who's playing on which day of the tournament. Totally agree with that. 859-280, 2287. We'll continue to effort. Shannon, how's the effort coming with Chris Bailey? Oh, we're still efforting. No answer. We'll keep in busy.
Starting point is 00:17:48 He shouldn't be busy. This is more important. Nothing going on. We will take a break and we'll be right back here at KS. Barr's Kentucky Sports Radio. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending. Opinions are flying.
Starting point is 00:18:02 And nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where Sports Slice comes in. I'm Timbo. Every episode we're cutting through the noise. Breaking down the plays, the controversies, and the stories behind the headlines. We go straight to the source, the athlete themselves. From viral moments to historic games, from buzzer beaters to controversial calls, we break it down, give you context, and ask the questions everybody wants answered. Sports Slice brings you closer to the action with stories told by the people who live them.

And in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, I'm bringing over a decade of my own experience in the mental health field and conversations with so many incredible guests.
Starting point is 00:19:01 I'm talking, Tripp Fontaine, Ryan Clark. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing. And we're still chasing it. And we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross,
Starting point is 00:19:22 because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth? Are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person. Join me, Kear Gaines, as we have real conversations about healing,
Starting point is 00:19:38 growth, fatherhood, pressure, and purpose on my new podcast, learn the hard way. Open your free, our heart radio app. Search, learn the hard way, and listen now. Jacob Kingston grew up in an isolated polygamous sect. We were God's chosen kingdom on earth. He felt destined for greatness. So when a swaggering Armenian businessman catapults Jacob into an extraordinary world, he doesn't look back.
Starting point is 00:20:05 Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, meeting the president of Turkey. I'm Michelle McPhee, and this is one of the most shocking criminal conspiracies I'm ever come across. When Jacob met Levin this plant to a billion dollar fraud. But with two kings from entirely different worlds, just how long can their empire survive? The largest tax investigation in American history. You need to tell me what you know. Is somebody coming after me? Jacob told Levan, you're ruining my life. Listen to Kingdom of Fraud on the IHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Life throws hurdles big and small. The question is, how do you conquer them? On hurdle with
Starting point is 00:20:54 Emily Abadi, we sit down with the most inspiring women in sports and wellness, professional athletes, coaches, and Olympic champions to talk about the challenges that shaped them and the mindset that keeps them going from the WMBA standout Kate Martin and rising hockey star Layla Edwards. If a boy can do it, I don't see why a girl can't. Like, I've never understood that. Like, it didn't make sense in my brain. It's hard to be in spaces that no one looks like you, but don't ever feel like you don't feel on. Don't let that be the reason you don't do it. An Olympic champs Gabby Thomas and Katie Ladeke. The ability to show gold medal to someone and have their face light up and smile, that means the world to me.
Starting point is 00:21:30 And that's what motivates me to win more gold medals. At our level, at this scale, like being able to fail in front of the entire world. Like, I can do anything. I can do anything. Because resilience isn't just about winning. It's about showing up, even when it's hard. Listen to Hurtle with Emily Abadi on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:21:53 Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
Starting point is 00:22:18 I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the I-Hard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Stop, collaborate, and listen. This is Kentucky Sports Radio, 859-280-2287. Where are you folks from, by the way? Frankfurt. Frankfurt is in the house here. That's state capital.
Starting point is 00:22:41 It is state capital. Yeah. A lot of people don't realize that. I used to trick people growing up in Indiana. Is the capital in Kentucky pronounced Louisville or Louisville? Well, you got him, did you? I got them. I got them every time.
Starting point is 00:22:54 This dude, like, he was so, he just, you can't, couldn't get near him when he was in Indiana. Third grade joke, no way. Harsh barbs. Yeah. No recovering from that one. Yeah, good night. Slow down there, Chief. 859-28027.
Starting point is 00:23:07 Give us a shout. A couple open lines. One person writes, tell Shannon he needs to get prepared. People like Shannon are. part of the problem they don't prepare and then they clog up the roadways you're part of the problem i am so i am so so prepared i've got me a hotel room right down the street i'll probably stay there on sunday night actually so which hotel downtown did they put you up on my fans like knocking on my door i can't tell you like which hotel i'm in okay chris bailey says you can call it okay okay
Starting point is 00:23:36 why don't you uh why don't you go ahead and do that 859 280 2287 while we wait for him a second Did you see what happened to the young dude on Georgia Parker Jones yesterday? A name that no one knew and that no one knew they were going to know until yesterday. And I'm part of the large crowd on the internet that searched his name and went through all the memes. I didn't hit like. I'm not even saying I enjoyed it, but there was a lot of Parker Jones on the internet last night. If you didn't see Parker Jones is just like a walk on, he's one of those dudes that they're not going to have on football. football teams anymore when the new regulations come. He's just like a white guy with a bowl haircut
Starting point is 00:24:17 that probably has a father that's a donor or something that is on the team. Yeah, they're not, well, let's save it because I want to talk about him. But Chris Bailey is on. Okay, so Chris, thank you for coming on. We like to have you on for weather emergencies. How are things coming in the weather room and are you fighting with anyone? No, no fighting as of yet. We're We've got to pace ourselves, Matt, as you know. We have the winter storm coming Sunday, Monday, and it's a big hitting system. A significant snow for the northern part of the state, freezing rain, sleet along in south. It's going to be fairly significant.
Starting point is 00:24:59 It's a situation where you hope there's more snow or sleet than freezing rain. Freezing rain is just a pure ice that, you know, accumulates on everything, power lines and trees and stuff. And that's what we want to avoid. So where in Kentucky, Chris, is it going to be the worst? Like if you were to say, because we got people obviously listen to all this day, what is the area that if you're in that you think right now is the one, you think that you say the freezing rain is the worst? Where do you expect that to be?
Starting point is 00:25:27 It is. Right now, probably along in south with the heaviest band of freezing rain of 64. So give me like some towns, like Danville, Somerset. You're talking Danville, maybe Richmond, through Big Sandy Valley, Paintsville, Pressensburg, pipeville, some places like that. And then farther to the north of that is where that heavy snow band looks like it's going to set up right now.
Starting point is 00:25:51 So now is that north that we're talking like northern Kentucky for the snow? Yeah, exactly. And the thing to keep in mind with this, Matt, is that everything with this system, you know how some will go like southwest, northeast, northeast, or cuts in different directions. This thing is just moving like a bowling ball due west to east. So you're going to get all the precipitation amounts coming in a straight line from west to east.
Starting point is 00:26:14 So for instance, what happens in Louisville is likely to happen in Lexington. So what do we think happens in Louisville and Lexington? I think both cities will get significant amounts of snow to start, then go over to sleep, freezing rain, and then back to snow. So is Monday a mess all over the state? Yeah, it is. It is. And Sunday through Monday is a mess. And the sad part about it is the fact that whatever falls doesn't matter, Matt,
Starting point is 00:26:45 because it's going to be there probably a week later because it's going to be so cold after. So how cold does it get after? Ryan was saying zero degrees, but of course, Ryan doesn't know anything. So what about you? So how cold is it going to get? Hey, hey, scoop is right on it. You're talking right around zero, give or take a little bit Wednesday, Thursday of next week. Zero on Wednesday and Thursday of next week.
Starting point is 00:27:10 Zero degrees. And some may be below zero because what happens, if you get a clear sky over top of a snowpack, whether it's snow or ice on the ground, that temperature just bottoms out. And, yeah, Wednesday, Thursday. Zero degrees is very cold. So before, but the great information.
Starting point is 00:27:30 So if you were to say, so do you think everyone in the state for the most part gets affected by this in some way? I do. Without question, the lowest impact right now is going to be the Tennessee border counties. But even there, compared to what I was thinking yesterday, I think their impact is greater than yesterday. So I think they start out as freezing rain for several hours. They will briefly go over to some rain tomorrow night for several or, you know, say, whatever. This is Friday, on Sunday night, I should say, for several hours. And then everybody ends the snow again on Monday.
Starting point is 00:28:06 So total accumulation in Lexington and Louisville, you think will be what? For snow, you're talking about the potential for several inches. I can't really put a number on it yet because here's the thing, Matt, when you're dealing with, you know, for Lexington and Louisville, we're going to get three different precipitation types. And how long do you, how long of a duration do you get of snow? How long of a duration do you get of sleet? And how long do you get a duration of freezing rain? Do you expect power to go out in lots of the state? I would say there is going to be a large chunk of power out is just coming up.
Starting point is 00:28:47 Yes. All right. Well, Chris, not great news, but at the same time, you at least give it to us, and that's good. So you're basically saying if you're in that Danville, Richmond area, those are the places to kind of be the most work. Right. Right now, if I, yeah, if I'm within, if I'm within 75 miles of Interstate 64 on that southern side of it, right now, I think that may be the prime zone for ice. All right.
Starting point is 00:29:18 Chris Bailey from WKYT. Thank you very much at Kentucky weather on Twitter. I need a fight from you this weekend. Don't let me down. Listen, man, I'm too old for that stuff now. You know, the younger me can do that. You listen, all you got to do is tell Weinberg, you got a snow model. and it'll be on. Thank you, Chris. Appreciate it.
Starting point is 00:29:36 All right. Take care, guys. So from I-64 South, 75 miles, that's the danger zone. So if you're in that area, watch out. And it sounds like awful even Lexington and Louisville because we get all three. Snow, sleet, freezing rain. All three of them could hit. Danville and Richmond. Who knew? Larry Vaught. Make sure you're undercover.
Starting point is 00:29:58 I'm not too far from Richmond. I might catch a little of the Richmond storm, too. Yeah, Somerset. Bob in Jamestown. Are you going to be, is he going to be all right? He can come up and stay with you. No, he's good right where he is. We don't need to bring him this way.
Starting point is 00:30:11 All right. We will talk a little bit more. We will take your calls right after this. It's Kentucky Sports Radio. T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J. He'll make them pay. Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones.
Starting point is 00:30:25 Do you know who this is, Ryan? I know this song, but I don't know who it is. I know you do. Take a guess. Think about what, think about what's going on right now. Shannon likes to make things associative. Go ahead, keep the music playing so we can hear it. What would the name of this artist be so that you can hear it?
Starting point is 00:30:43 The snowman. Closer, close. Think about informer. The weatherman. No, it's not named the weatherman. You're now getting farther away. Oh, the ice man. No, no, no.
Starting point is 00:30:57 Do you have one of the words right? Snow. So what would his name be? Snow person. No, no, no, close. Just snow. Just snow. His name is just snow?
Starting point is 00:31:08 Just snow. I didn't know that. Informer. Do you remember this song? Oh, I definitely remember the song. Yeah, names snow. 859-28027. One person writes, Matt, even with weather men, you always interrupt them.
Starting point is 00:31:20 Why don't you let people finish the sentence? You got to keep them moving. You got to keep them moving. You had a lot of information we wanted it in a short amount of time. Yeah. And you got to get the weather people to the point. They're used to fill in time on the air, and they just yabber, gaby-y-y-yabber. and you got to like go Chris is really good.
Starting point is 00:31:35 You just got to say, hey, what about this? Yeah, hey, tell me some actual cities. Give me some cities. All right, so real quick, before we go, Parker Jones. So Parker Jones, he's standing there. He's got his frat boy haircut. He's got his jersey, but he doesn't even have pads on. So, like, he's not going to play, Drew.
Starting point is 00:31:49 He's just there hanging on. Referee, Georgia's got to run. They're going. Referees run down the sidelines, and Parker gets in the way, and he hits the referee. If you go back and watch the replay, you can see the referees. face getting angry while he's like he's like what are you doing you're you little snot 15 yard penalty for interference tough look right yeah kirby goes crazy he starts yelling at him back up back up he's screaming and then poor parker jones i mean he's like the the internet is made to give this
Starting point is 00:32:24 kid a hard time right they look him up they're like parker jones then all of a sudden on Twitter, everyone's searching his web page. You know, his player page on Georgia's website crashes. So many people are going to it. He's the number one trend in America. And all I can think about is what if you were him on the sideline? And like you feel bad, but you probably have no idea that the whole world is talking about you, right? So then the game keeps going.
Starting point is 00:32:57 Georgia loses. and at the end, ESPN was just diabolical, Drew. With a minute left, they show him on the sideline and go, you got to wonder what Parker B. Jones is thinking, as if he was the one that caused him the game. I mean, he did. That was like in the second quarter. It was early in the game.
Starting point is 00:33:14 But Parker Jones, what do you think his life is like right this minute in Athens? I can't remember a reaction and a network zooming in quite aggressively as that was. there was also a sorority group chat about him that leaked. There was not a sorority group chat. Oh, yeah, yeah. He caught a lot of strays that had nothing to do with football. There was a sorority group chat? It wasn't a good look for him.
Starting point is 00:33:38 Oh, poor sorority group chat. Yeah, it was about him. I mean, they put it out reacting to this. I was just thinking, someone please get to the locker room and get his phone before he does and just tell him Parker. Can you imagine when he turned it on our phone tonight? Can you imagine when he turned his phone on? He had to be like, you remember I've told you that story before.
Starting point is 00:33:56 on this show about the woman who made the joke that was inappropriate before she got on a flight to South Africa. Do you all remember that story? Yeah. Then when she landed, she had lost her job and all this stuff, and they talked about how she turned her phone on and her world had just changed. I wondered about that with Parker Jones last night. Yeah, he is now George's Bartman.
Starting point is 00:34:18 You know, he's the poster child for that loss. How can he walk across campus when school and classes resumed? Because, man, everybody, everybody on that campus knows. who that kid is. But he didn't cost him the game. No, he didn't. They lost about 13 points. But will he be on the team next year? No. He won't be at Georgia next year. No, you got to transfer. Which is kind of sad, because
Starting point is 00:34:38 I was for Notre Dame. I was rooting for Notre Dame. You think he's not even at Georgia? No. And he had zero impact on that game. He really did. As the first quarter, Kirby even said in his press conference, we didn't take advantage of the first and ten anyway. Like, it really didn't hurt them that bad. I
Starting point is 00:34:54 couldn't believe ESPN on him in the fourth quarter. I couldn't either. That was diabolical. If that mistake, it happened in the fourth quarter, all right, but it is hours later. They showed him again later. He has his back. He's walking towards the locker room and they're zooming in on it. So let me just say something to Parker Jones. Parker, I kind of feel bad for you. You were just excited. He was just excited. Hang in there. It'll be okay. You know what? You might not be able to stay at Georgia. Alabama's good, though. There's other good colleges. Hang in there. You know, I feel like, Bartman went away.
Starting point is 00:35:28 Hopefully Parker Jones doesn't have to go. Like right now, they're showing him on TV. Like, come on, man. He didn't do anything. Like, he's picking his nose on TV. At that moment, you know he is peeing his pants because they just called the penalty. He's trying to hide.
Starting point is 00:35:42 I feel bad for my Jones brethren there, Parker. What if he wants to transfer to Kentucky? Do we take him? We need some better players than Parker, I think, next year. Who's up first? Zach. Zach, go ahead, Zach.
Starting point is 00:35:53 Matt, you. Yes, sir. Can you hear me? I got you. So I had a question, I had a question for Ryan. I sent you a message on the text machine last night. Ryan, are you, with the DoorDash, and I'm really excited for you, but are you taking things out for, like, your taxes and purposes? Yes, are you taking your taxes out?
Starting point is 00:36:17 As a realtor, you know, you're a W-9 employee, so yeah, I'm familiar with it. I got to do there. Did you do it yesterday? I did for a couple hours. Did you get any people who gave you extra tips? Negative. No, they must not have been listening to the show. I had a ton of people write me, say they were going to give you extra tips.
Starting point is 00:36:33 Did they not do it? Well, I only did it a couple hours after the show, and then I wanted to get home and watch the Georgia in Notre Dame football game. So I had a suggestion. I appreciate the call. Somebody suggested this. And you have to tell me if you're up for it. But would you want to take a night that you just delivered directly from KS.
Starting point is 00:36:50 Bar, take out the middleman of DoorDash. and you did that, and then that way it would be fans of the show. I'd love it. I think it'd be a lot of fun. You'd get some meet some people. And then maybe Mario would go along with you. Let's do it. All right, so we'll do that one night. I don't know when, but we'll pick a night,
Starting point is 00:37:06 and then that way we'll just take out the middleman. You know, Doherdash, all they do is just take a bunch of money from you. This would be direct KS Bar to Ryan Lemon to the people. Any night, but Sunday night, but Sunday night, and it's going to have ice and snow. No, no, we can do it Sunday night. That's when we need you the most. That's when we might need you the most.
Starting point is 00:37:23 That's what people would need it the most. You get big tips that night, too. Oh, big tips. Yeah. I'm down. We may not be open. But we'll... Because, I mean, nobody's going to come in here and eat,
Starting point is 00:37:35 so we may not be open. But either way, you're up for that. Yeah, I think it would be fun. Because then I think fans could directly get from you. That would be just a lot of fun. I actually enjoy it, you know, so that's one more reason I picked to do that. I had some other...
Starting point is 00:37:49 You know, I was looking now what can I do to pick up some extra cash? this was appealing to me. I think it's fun. Yes. Only fans? That's next week. How's your feet? Rex Ryan, feet. I got little bitty feet. I think there's a market for that.
Starting point is 00:38:05 Like that again, please. I think people would watch it only fans of Ryan just doing show prep and regular Ryan things throughout the day. That would just be Ryan sleeping if you did that. Who's up next? Hunter. Hunter, go ahead, Hunter. Hey, how you guys doing today? Doing good.
Starting point is 00:38:20 Hey, so. A little tip for Ryan, so I'm actually a full-time DoorDash driver. So he needs to try to get 100 orders in a month because what they do is they have special programs. I don't know if he's hit it yet. But essentially, once you hit the highest program, you can go whenever you want. So you're not waiting on DoorDash. You can actually just do it whenever you want. You can go however long you want.
Starting point is 00:38:42 And then my second. Can I tell you real quick before you go to your second one? Can I tell you what I saw a DoorDash driver do yesterday? Yeah. I've never been madder. I was at Chipotle. This Door Dash driver was waiting on his food, and the place was really crowded, so I'm sure he was waiting longer than he wanted to wait.
Starting point is 00:38:58 I heard him, I'm at the front of the line, and you know me, I can't stay quiet. Like, I want to stay quiet, but I can't stay quiet. But I don't like when people are rude to people. I especially don't like when people are rude to service people, especially in the food industry. These people don't make enough money for what they're doing. And at Chipotle, they don't even like get tips. So, like, they don't even have the big money day.
Starting point is 00:39:17 So it's no reason to be rude these people. This door dash driver is sitting there waiting. He said, where is this food? And she goes, we'll get it to you in just a minute. And he mumbled under his breath the B word. And I went. And so then I was like, hey, dude, no reason to be rude to her. And he goes, you shut your mouth.
Starting point is 00:39:36 I'll say what I want. And I'm like, don't be rude. She's going to get there as quick as you can. You don't have to be rude to her. And he starts coming at me, blah, blah, blah. Well, then the woman comes and he, I don't know what happens between the two of them. I didn't see it. I'm paying for.
Starting point is 00:39:51 my food. Next thing I know, he spits on the woman. No way. He literally spits on the woman. She calls the police. She calls the police, says, kicks him out of the restaurant. He's cussing at her. Police come. She wrote his license plate down. So I think there'll be at least one last driver for you have to compete with. I couldn't believe how rude this dude was to her. I mean, Who spits on somebody? Isn't that an assault? I mean, it's something. I don't know what.
Starting point is 00:40:26 I'll leave that to the police department. And then as I was leaving, the police came in. He was gone at that point, but I saw him come into the place. That's awful. Anyway, go ahead. What was your second point? I've had similar situation. I've seen other door dashed to that, but not that extreme.
Starting point is 00:40:43 Second point is, so I'm actually from Utah. I call them the post-game shows quite frequently, actually. but I actually get to come to the Alabama game. It's my first ever Kentucky game. So I want here one area because we come in about Thursday, so we have Thursday and Friday to explore Lexington. Yeah. One restaurant from each of you that I should go to and try.
Starting point is 00:41:05 I'll hang up a listen. Appreciate the call. All right. So if you were to pick, obviously I'd love for you to come here because this is a wonderful Kentucky experience. But let's take this off because we're biased. What would be the one Lexington restaurant you would suggest that people coming from out of town try if they want a Lexington
Starting point is 00:41:20 experience. I always suggest Carson's, because it's not ridiculously expensive, like Tony's or Jeff Rubies. The food at Carson's is awesome. It's a great environment, so I'm going with Carcans. It's usually my number one recommendation, too. If you're looking for, like, something truly Lexington, I think of certain items, like a fried chicken
Starting point is 00:41:36 at Merrick Inn or something like that. But at just another good restaurant, I always recommend Carson's and Tulip are my two that are kind of chained, just kind of a good dinner in Lexington that they don't have anywhere else. I think, Even though it's Italian and there are places in America, you can get better Italian. I think Giuseppe's is a very Lexington voice, right?
Starting point is 00:41:55 It's out there. It's kind of like hidden. And like you walk in, it's just a very Lexington kind of feel out there in the middle of nowhere. If it's spring and summer, I always recommend Palmer's because you could sit outside. You can outside by that thing. Starting point is 00:47:15 at KS. Bar and Grill. We're open here in 15 minutes for lunch. Got some folks here. You said you lived in South Carolina. Is that right? That's good. Nice from here from South Carolina. Going to be, excuse me, better get home before all the snow hit you here coming up.
Starting point is 00:47:31 Another good crowd in here with not much school going on. Yeah, no, no school works out well. 859-28027. One person said, Matt, if the Parker Jones thing happened at Kentucky, do you think our fans would be mad at it? Yeah, but I don't think our fans are as angry on the football side as some of those guys are. Now, but let's use an example that we're used to. Let's say it's the NCAA Final Four. All right.
Starting point is 00:48:02 It's the Final Four. And what was it? Brian Long. Remember Brian Long or Sam Malone gets a technical from the bench. in the first half while we're making a run. So we're down, let's say, eight in the first half, and he gets a technical. We still end up losing by a 10,
Starting point is 00:48:26 but do you think people would be upset about it? Yeah, of course. And they would blame him and say, well, that's where everything changed. And we were on a roll until that happened. And the momentum change. They would find every excuse in the world to blame it on that kid.
Starting point is 00:48:40 Yeah, I think there would be a lot of backlash. I don't think it would be to the extent of this. And I can't even imagine they're walking off the Final Four and they're zooming in on San Malone in that scenario. That's still what made last night so weird. I couldn't, I mean, they really, they just called him out at the end. It felt like an extra little, you know, that they didn't need to do. I think they have a big role in this.
Starting point is 00:48:59 But I agree that it would happen at Kentucky. Maybe not to this extent. But I think there would be that kind of backlash of a walk on played a role like that. Let me give a shout out to the women's team since we are going to have Kenny Brooks on. The women yesterday won by 20 in their first game. in the SEC over Mississippi State at home. First time in program history that two different players on the team both made seven three-pointers in a game. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:49:25 I mean, Corey Price can tell me if the men have ever done that. I don't know if the men have ever had. I would be surprised if that's ever. I mean, Monk hit seven-threes, Meeks, Reeves did. But we haven't had too many guys hit seven-threes, and I don't think we've ever had two hit them in one game. We had two do it last night. They shot 65% from three. I watched the entire second half.
Starting point is 00:49:50 That Georgia Moore, you know, she now, like, those first few games took her a little bit to get ready, but she dominated that game. Shortest girl in the car. We have a very tall team. Like, if you watched our team, all the women are very tall, and then the shortest one is just going around, like, she's impressive. Yeah, she was awesome, and Deja Lawrence was awesome. they combined for 55 points.
Starting point is 00:50:15 Deja was hot at first. She was the one we were kind of watching chasing history. I was watching the whole game. She was seven for eight at one point. And then we're talking about her being won away. Then Amor makes a bunch of the second half to catch up with her. And they both end up with seven, one shy of the record of eight. And then they get the team record.
Starting point is 00:50:30 But, I mean, Kentucky, that was just so fun to watch. Mississippi State had a little bit of a run in the third quarter, but then Georgia shot them out of it again. Kentucky women are like 13 and one. And, you know, I mean, they're good. Kenny Brooks, they're going to be, like, he's going to be really good here. Like really good. It's another example.
Starting point is 00:50:49 This might be the worst team he has here. And yet they're still, you know, top 15. They may and probably will have a better record than the men's team. And the men only have two losses right now. The women have one loss. No, they probably will have a better record. You're right. Who's up next?
Starting point is 00:51:01 Let's go to Joe. Joe, go ahead, Joe. Hey, y'all, I'm calling it now. The cats come out hot tomorrow, and Otega Oway puts his knee in that eight-foot-tall guy's face. Go cat. Well, he's red-shirting, so it'll be hard for them to do it. Who do you think has to have a big game for us tomorrow? Besides the obvious, you know, Lamont Butler plays well.
Starting point is 00:51:21 Is there somebody you think has to step up? Well, I'll give another one, but the Butler-Walter-Clayton match-up at point guard is actually going to be very exciting and could determine the game. So he will need to play well. But I still want to see more aggression from Andrew Carr. He was great in the first half against Brown when Kentucky couldn't score. He had 14 points. Finally shot a three and made it.
Starting point is 00:51:41 I would like to see him continue to play better and better each game. They're going to be good on the glass, so I think our bigs have to play well. The Walter Clayton-Lamont Butler, though, that'll decide the game. Who wins that battle? Because that's going to be a heck of battle. Two of the three or four best point guards in the league. I'm really looking forward to that. But you said what my key area was going to be, they've got two seven-footers.
Starting point is 00:52:04 Condon and Hengleton, the dude that transferred from Marshall. Yes. They're both really good athletically. I mean, and then offensively. So that's going to give Amari Williams and our bigs a problem, I think. They're a good offensive rebounding team. Yeah, they are very good at it. Brown rebounded half of their misses in the first half a week ago,
Starting point is 00:52:19 so that needs to improve. Last night, I don't know if any of you all did it. I turned on Washington was playing basketball. It was late at night, and I turned it on. First of all, Washington being in the Big Ten throws me off because they're playing a conference game against Maryland, which is crazy. But great Osabor. Okay, that was the dude, if you remember, who almost came here.
Starting point is 00:52:40 he is being paid more than any college basketball player in the country this year. Great Osabor. I watched him play. He was good. But in watching him, I have no idea how he would have played here. Like he's not in shape. He's a big load. He's like the ball has to go through him.
Starting point is 00:52:59 He reminds me of Oscar, quite honestly. Drew, I don't know how he would have played in this system. I mean, he's talented. He got big buckets for him. But he is like 280 pounds and just a big load. There was a point. That almost seemed like a lock. There was a lot of talk of him being here because he's known of Mario Williams
Starting point is 00:53:21 as there were kids in England. It seemed like we're going to get a Williams-Ossibar a package deal to start the Pope era and he goes, money pulled him away. I haven't watched a full game, but just keep it up with stats and seeing a little bit of clips. He's just, he doesn't seem like a... He's very good, but he just doesn't seem like the kind of dude that would play for Mark Pope. He doesn't seem like he should command his money. much as you got. I mean, you got a lot of money coming out of Utah State.
Starting point is 00:53:41 Well, he gets the ball and he just pounds it, throws himself into the guy. But he finishes a lot, so it works out. Yeah, Pope likes his big as if we've seen it, you know, try to help direct the offense. Step outside the 15 foot and, you know, make good passes. Would have been interesting, though, because he would have probably played. Williams would have been in the back up, probably wouldn't have gotten Garrison. So it would have been interesting to see how that played out. 859-280-2287.
