Starting point is 00:03:38 Stockton Mortgage, NMLS 8259 Equal Housing Lender, NMLS Consumer Access.org. Welcome to Hour 2 of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones. Welcome back. It is hour number two, Kentucky Sports Radio, 859-280, 2280. 97. Text machine 772-7745254. We are open here at the KS Bar and Grill for lunch. Matt, Ryan, Drew, and Shannon. One person writes in and says, Matt, did we have any sitting standing arguments at the game Tuesday? I didn't hear about any. Did you hear about any? No, and I was looking around. I did more crowd watching than I normally would, particularly in Section 15. I didn't see any trouble at all. I think everyone behaved. Winian Gabriel had seven threes in a game.
Starting point is 00:04:29 Travis Ford had seven threes in a game. Tony Delk had seven threes in a game, but nobody ever had them two games. Two in the same game. In my quick research, Delke and Ford went back-to-back days. They played two games and two days in Maui. That's impressive. It's seven each, but not the same time. One person writes, what's up with Billy versus Shannon?
Starting point is 00:04:49 Did Shannon apologize for not telling Billy he'd be gone? Did you apologize, Shan? No, and I'm not going to. I'll say what Billy said to you. I'll take responsibility, but I'm not going to apologize. Yeah, but I mean, they're a part of you, though, that it's like you should tell your co-host if you're not going to be there. Here's the thing.
Starting point is 00:05:05 Billy is what? The general manager. Turns out he's not good at managing anything in general. So I don't know why, like, he should know that I'm off, right? That's not very nice at all. All right. So let's talk about a couple things. First of all, ESPN ranks UK football's transfer class,
Starting point is 00:05:23 their portal class as being the sixth best in America. We've had people go, oh, they're just a bunch of mid-major, whatever. ESPN has us sixth. CBS Sports has us ninth. Now, on three has us 40th, which is very different than sixth and ninth. But the way they do it is they take points away from who left
Starting point is 00:05:45 versus who you get. We obviously had a bunch of people leave. What do you make of these rankings? I'll admit I wasn't quite ready for to see that. I might have even rolled my eyes slightly when I saw it's a top 10 portal class just because we did this last season and got it very excited about it. I'm just not ready to be told how good these transfers are yet. I mean, it's better than not having one, I guess.
Starting point is 00:06:08 And ESPN has to write something, but I don't know if it will sell a ton more season tickets or generate much excitement after how we went through this just a year ago. Well, they probably won't finish sixth because a lot of these bigger programs will still get their guys after the playoffs and all that. But I have to tell you I'm at least, I know exactly what you're saying, Drew, and I get it. I was like that with our freshman classes sometimes in basketball. Like it's hard to get excited about these freshman classes because we just keep having them.
Starting point is 00:06:37 But it is at least nice to know that these dudes aren't chumps, right? Like, I mean, you know, when you see, when you're getting guys from Bowling Green and Miami of Ohio and New Mexico and Western Kentucky, and you're like, are these dudes any good? having the service at least say, hey, they're talented enough to be considered top 10. I think that's positive. I'm taking it as a positive. I mean, you know, Calzata, the running back from Nebraska, and the edge rusher from USC. Those are probably the three biggies.
Starting point is 00:07:03 But I'm hoping this praise means these the offensive linemen that they've gotten, the defensive linemen they've gotten the transfer portal are maybe better than we think. I mean, the offensive line will have five new guys. So, you know, let's hope they're good. I mean, ultimately that's kind of where it is, right? It really all comes down to that. I love the running back out of Nebraska. I think Calzada, he's got some playmaking in him.
Starting point is 00:07:27 There's a receiver that's going to visit this weekend that I really like from Louisiana Tech. None of that matters if those five offensive linemen don't. Yeah, no, it won't matter. It's just so hard to grade them. So, yeah, I don't want to just downplay the class. They got some good additions. I really like the running back more than any of them, but that line has to pan out. One person writes, Matt, what do you make of the fact that you said the wide receiver coach and the team did not get a long grade?
Starting point is 00:07:49 but two of our players went to Nebraska. I mean, I was a little bit surprised by that. I was more surprised by Dane than I was the other kid. The other kid, I think, you know, the other kid, I think had some issues to where probably what got him to Nebraska is one coach took up for him, maybe when other people wouldn't. I was surprised about Dane, you know, but, you know, Nick Rouse, I think, wrote yesterday that the problem was the culture of the wide receiver room. And while I think that was
Starting point is 00:08:24 maybe a little much, I don't think he's wrong that the culture of the wide receiver room was not the best. And I don't think it's a coincidence that like almost, I mean, they'd like to have had Dane back. But honestly, pretty much everybody else is gone, except Macklin. And I think they were all right with it. And the coach is gone. So, you know, I don't, Maybe a little, maybe I think Nick exaggerated a little bit, but I don't think he's crazy about what he said. So I was a little surprised two guys went to Nebraska, but Ryan, I'm, you know, I'm not surprised about Gilmore,
Starting point is 00:09:01 a little surprise about Key. I guess that's what I would say. You know, there's a couple, just, you know, two guys in the receiver room at a room of 12 can really make a big issue. And so if Barry on and Anthony Brown Stevens and these guys were making, getting a lot of the money, weren't doing in the works. I like how you say if, clearly, though.
Starting point is 00:09:19 Clearly those are the two. Well, that's the thing is pretty well documented now. Those two guys kind of did what they wanted. You know, if they didn't want to show up, they didn't show up. If they wanted to work, then they decided to go to work. Yeah, I mean, I think the Anthony Brown-Stevens part should not be lost. He was making more money than Dane. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:36 Right. More money than most people on the team. I mean, Anthony Brown-Stevens, I think, was getting like the fifth or six most money on the team. Now, part of that probably was that his uncle is John Legend, right? And so the idea of, like, getting his uncle to do some of the stuff he did probably required that. So, I mean, it's a unique situation. But when you have a dude who's making a lot of money, maybe isn't the best teammate in the world, I mean, that tends to foster resentment, Drew.
Starting point is 00:10:04 It probably just does, you know. Yeah, you can understand on UK's end how it got that way. I mean, John Legend brought his own personal piano to play in Lexington and raise a fundraiser. If he wants his nephew getting a little extra money, I can see why they came into that. but that can also mess up a locker room. And then Berion, I don't think there's plenty of secrets out about him. They're no longer secret about not being all the way there at practice, maybe not being there at practice, but he's still getting the most targets.
Starting point is 00:10:28 So we had the conversation yesterday about Stoops wins. There was most people online seemed to agree six or seven. It was interesting to see. I think that's the number. I think most people online also, though, said you better win six. I mean, I think is it bowl or bus next year? It almost is. It's almost that feeling we used to have, just praying and hoping just to get bow eligible.
Starting point is 00:10:52 Next year, I think, may be that year, just trying to claw our way back to be bow eligible again. Yeah. All right, so let me switch gears for a second. I'm going to ask you all out here in the crowd. How many of you all have ever heard of Romeo Santos? Anybody ever heard of Romeo Santos? Nobody. Had you, Ann, you heard of Romeo?
Starting point is 00:11:13 Mario Santos? What about you? No. All right. no one's heard of Romeo Santos. I want you to look up, not right this minute, but later on tonight, go down the internet rabbit hole about Romeo Santos. He's like a Latin singer. Okay.
Starting point is 00:11:28 Okay. Very handsome, like muscular, kind of like a, you know, he's a singer for women. Women like it. Like he's like. Looks like me. Not really. I mean, take you make the opposite. And that's kind of what Romeo Santos.
Starting point is 00:11:45 So he gets on stage and, you know, he's grinding, he's doing all the things that the lovers do, right? And every, every, what are you laughing at? Grinding and doing the things that lovers do. Well, it's what lovers do. You wouldn't understand. So he, every show, Drew, he picks a woman out of the audience. He says, who wants to come up and come on stage with Romeo? And he picks the woman out of the audience.
Starting point is 00:12:12 And then basically he sings a song to her while, sort of grinding and gyrating and pulsating and all of that. And it's a very like, it's a thing. Well, you know, when he picks the women out of the audience, they volunteer. And I don't think he checks marriage certificates or anything like that. Yeah. Right? He just sort of, he just does his thing.
Starting point is 00:12:37 Picks one at random. He picks one. Well, apparently, he picked one the other day and it broke up a marriage. Oh. He was at a concert, and a woman went, now this story is crazy to me. A woman went to the concert with her husband. Okay. When it came time for the part where he picks the woman out of the crowd,
Starting point is 00:12:57 she volunteered to go up on stage with her husband there. Okay. First of all, would you be okay with that if your wife went on stage with Romeo while you were there? I'm okay with it. You're the married one. Are you okay with it? No, I've seen enough of these videos. I know what he's talking about.
Starting point is 00:13:16 That'd be a no for me. You're okay with it? Yeah. You're totally fine with your wife going up and- Have you seen these videos? All right. I haven't seen any of the videos. So, anyway, she gyrates.
Starting point is 00:13:27 I'm sorry, she shouldn't be. He shouldn't be doing this, ma'am. I just want you to know. Like, I don't. She then, his, she gets down and dirty with him on stage. The husband ends up divorcing her. Wow. All right.
Starting point is 00:13:42 Can I read. you the statement that she made afterwards. Okay. She makes a statement on Instagram. I don't know where to start, but I want to share, this is how she starts the statement after her husband has left her. I don't know where to start, but I want to share how happy I feel for having achieved my long-awaited dream, one that I imagined for years both awake and asleep. Wow. Whoa. Both awake and asleep. She's dreaming about it. Awake and asleep.
Starting point is 00:14:17 For me, it's not just about admiring the artist, but about valuing the great human being that he is. I have followed him and admired him for a long time. Now, I must acknowledge that this achievement came at the very high cost, the breakup of my 10-year marriage. Although at the time I didn't think about the consequences, I recognized that I let myself be carried away by nerves
Starting point is 00:14:41 and excitement without considering how this could affect my family, I am heartbroken at the result. What did she think was going to happen? I think that should have been the lead. That's what I was going to say. Yeah. Shouldn't her Instagram statement have led? Yes. There was a lot of regret.
Starting point is 00:14:59 There was no. She led about her in dreams about Romeo and then said, and oh yeah, I guess it ended my marriage, so that stinks. And this wasn't a hug and a dance. There wasn't much clothing on. There was some lips to lips. If you see the video, you would see what was happening. And now Romeo's onto the next city and she's single. And this is a, yes.
Starting point is 00:15:24 Apparently this happens everywhere. Romeo's not calling. Where forth art thou Romeo in the next city? Okay. Not waiting on you. It's an unbelievable thing. And that statement, she has now deleted her Instagram because she took so much criticism from that statement.
Starting point is 00:15:41 How about that statement? Totally had it flip-flopped. She had it totally wrong. If she actually felt some sorry about it, that's the lead paragraph. Her hopes and her dreams both awake and asleep. So she's fantasizing about him and dreaming about him. If I had to divorce her when it happened,
Starting point is 00:16:01 I would have divorced her after the Instagram. Any chance of reconciliation gone. So did the husband just storm out at that moment when she's up there with him? The husband left the show and she had to get a ride home. I've been seeing the usher does this at his concerts now, and it's happened with wives and when their husbands are there. It's kind of becoming a thing at concerts where I don't know if they're intentionally ruining marriages, but there's other examples of this.
Starting point is 00:16:27 If your wife says she's going to a Romeo Santos concert, men say, I'm out. I'm out. My last concert. Make sure their seat is in the back. We saw Luke Combs. And if Luke Combs had to pulled Abby on stage, there would have been some fighting. Doesn't happen to a lot of Sturgle Simpson shows that I've seen. Who's up next?
Starting point is 00:16:46 Troy. Troy, go ahead, Troy. Hey, Matt, how you guys doing? Doing good. What's up? Well, first time I'm going to Rup Arena tomorrow for a ball game. All right. I'm just wanting some advice.
Starting point is 00:17:01 My wife is a UK grad. And we live in Indiana. And frankly, Matt, I am an IU fan. but I'm going to support my wife tomorrow. That's nice of you. But just looking for any advice on what's the concessions to buy, where to park. Well, parking, good luck. You know, that's the best I can say for that.
Starting point is 00:17:24 As far as concessions to buy, everybody's going to tell you to buy the ice cream. Overrated. Don't waste your time standing in line. The line's way too long, in my opinion. You know, I think there's some good barbecue. They've got the Cattlemen's Association has good. has good food there. I would say to you, if you want to have the full Kentucky experience, get there a little bit early,
Starting point is 00:17:48 feel the atmosphere when they do the videos at the beginning. That's always really cool. Go to the post game show. Your wife will enjoy that. I would say either come to the bar before the game or after the game here at KS Bar. I think that's the best Kentucky experience you can have. But I would say try to get there the first 10 or 15 minutes before the game, especially tomorrow with it being Florida and SEC game.
Starting point is 00:18:12 That to me is the best part, that 10 minutes of excitement right before the game starts. Totally agree. Yeah, get in your seat early so you can see the videos in the starting lineup. And dude, don't wear red. Don't wear anything red. Don't wear red. Nope. I'm not wearing anything Kentucky, but I am wearing blue.
Starting point is 00:18:28 All right. I appreciate the call. We'll take a break. Kenny Brooks will join us right after this. It's the Kentucky Sports Radio. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending, opinions are flying, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened.
Starting point is 00:18:43 That's where Sports Slice comes in. I'm Timbo. Every episode, we're cutting through the noise. Breaking down the plays, the controversies, and the stories behind the headlines. We go straight to the source, the athlete themselves. Their locker room stories, their reactions, the stuff nobody gets to hear. The laughs, the drama, the triumphs, the moments that never make the highlight real. And in recognition of mental health awareness month, I'm bringing over a decade of my own experience in the mental health field and conversations.
Starting point is 00:19:37 with so many incredible guests. I'm talking. Tripp Fontaine, Ryan Clark. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing. And we're still chasing it. And we don't know when we've done enough.
Starting point is 00:19:54 Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross. Because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth? Are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust.
Starting point is 00:20:10 I want you to just really be a good person. Join me, Keer Gaines, is we have real conversations about healing, growth, fatherhood, pressure, and purpose on my new podcast, Learn the Hard Way. Open your free Our Heart Radio app. Search Learn the Hardway and listen now. Life throws hurdles big and small. The question is, how do you conquer them? On Hurtle with Emily Abadi, we sit down with the most inspiring women in sports and wellness. professional athletes, coaches, and Olympic champions to talk about the challenges that shaped them and the mindset that keeps them going.
Starting point is 00:20:43 From the WNBA standout Kate Martin and rising hockey star Layla Edwards. If a boy can do it, I don't see why a girl can't. Like, I've never understood that. Like, it didn't make sense in my brain. It's hard to be in spaces that no one looks like you, but don't ever feel like you don't feel on. Don't let that be the reason you don't do it.
Starting point is 00:20:59 An Olympic champs Gabby Thomas and Katie Ledecki. The ability to show a gold medal to someone and have their face light up and smile, that means the world to me. And that's what motivates me to win more gold medals. At our level, at this scale, like being able to fail in front of the entire world. Like, I can do anything.
Starting point is 00:21:18 I can do anything. Because resilience isn't just about winning. It's about showing up, even when it's hard. Listen to Hurtle with Emily Abadi on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart women's sports. Jacob Kingston grew up in an isolated polygamous sect. We were God's chosen
Starting point is 00:21:40 kingdom on earth. He felt destined for greatness. So when a swaggering Armenian businessman catapults Jacob into an extraordinary world, he doesn't look back. Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, meeting the president of Turkey. I'm Michelle McPhee, and this is one of the most shocking criminal conspiracies I've ever come across. When Jacob met Levant this plant to a billion dollar fraud. But with two kings from entirely different worlds, just how long can their empire survive? The largest tax investigation in American history.
Starting point is 00:22:17 You need to tell me what you know. Is somebody coming after me? Jacob told Levan, you're ruining my life. Listen to Kingdom of Fraud on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque.
Starting point is 00:22:43 Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the I-Hard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Well done, Shannon.
Starting point is 00:23:11 899-2-80-22-87, I miss what Shannon doesn't do the songs. That was perfect. Those of you all on podcasts won't even hear. What a good one that was. We are now joined on the phone by Kenny Brooks. Kenny, I have to tell you, man, I watched the Louisville game, which was awesome. But last night, your team looked like a well-oiled machine. Set the all-time record with seven-threes by two different players in a game.
Starting point is 00:23:37 You have three different players averaging nine rebounds or more. more in a game. Only the fifth time that's ever happened in NCAA women's basketball play, you've got to be thrilled with how this season has started. Hey, Matt, how are you doing, man? I really am. And obviously, when you put together a team like we did, 11 new players, they don't know each other. It's been a joy watching them come together. And obviously, we're a lot better after the 13th game than we were the first game. But it's just been so much fun watching them, how they just play for each other, celebrating each other's successes. And as a result, you know, you have really good play, really good basketball, and last night it was on display.
Starting point is 00:24:15 I, you know, I talked to you at Media Day, and I said, and you basically looked at me, I remember you said something like, we're going to get it done here, and then you kind of gave me a, I don't know if it'll be this year, but it's going to happen. Have they outperformed your expectations so far? No, they've done exactly what we thought. And obviously, you know, back then when I talked to you, We were facing adversity because we had two kids who pretty much I had penciled in as starters who were out for the year. So we had to really go back and readjust and reinvent ourselves at what we thought we were going to be to what we can be. But these kids have done anything and everything that I've asked them to do. They love playing for each other.
Starting point is 00:24:57 They love working with each other. And the sky is still the limit, even though we don't have those two players. But it's just really been a lot of fun. And when you have an All-American Point Guard leading away, you can do a lot of great things, and she covers up a lot, and it's just a joy and a privilege to have a coach on the floor. Well, let's talk about her. Georgia, tell me, I've heard her name pronounce three different ways, her last name. How do you pronounce her last name?
Starting point is 00:25:21 It's Amor. Amore. Okay, so Georgia Aymour. I want to give you a couple stats. Second the nation and assist. Four straight 20 plus point games. Seven threes in the last game. You have created a very tall team, and she's the shortest girl on the,
Starting point is 00:25:37 woman on the court, and she just completely, like, it feels like controls the game, and it feels like she's really coming to her own in the last few games, maybe took her a couple games to get adjusted. Am I reading that right? Yeah, you are. And, you know, the last couple years, like last year, she was an All-American, not an All-American, not an American, notable mention, but one of the top 15 players in the country. I could have gone to the WMBA draft, would have been a first-round pick,
Starting point is 00:26:01 decided to follow me here. And it doesn't matter who is on the court, how good they are, how tall they are, she's going to control the situation. And coming here to Kentucky, we knew it was going to be an adjustment because at Virginia Tech, she was more of a facilitator and then a score, and we knew we needed her to be more of a dominant score for us. And then she also had to learn her teammates. And she had to learn where they wanted the basketball, how they were going to run.
Starting point is 00:26:27 And you can really see her doing that in the last few games, just understanding. Last night, they were making eye contact with each other, and she was making plays that, you know, even after seeing her for five straight years, they still amazed me. So we're very fortunate to have her. BBN is very fortunate to get her for one year to watch her because she's one of, if not the best point guard in the country. She is really fun to watch.
Starting point is 00:26:52 And I encourage, and your whole team is fun to watch. I mean, I know a lot of fans are watching, but I encourage even more to. They are, your team is really good and really fun. Let's talk about the fans. Talia, I believe her first name is pronounced Talia Goodman. That's Jeff Goodman's daughter, covers women's basketball for On 3. She listed the five best atmosphere she's seen in women's college basketball so far this year. And number three was your Kentucky game against Louisville, which I thought was really an awesome statement. How have you felt so far about BBN support
Starting point is 00:27:26 and being around this fan base? BBN has been everything, it's been everything is advertised. And not only in the venue, which is Memorial, which is, you know, beautiful. It's great for women's basketball games. But, man, just walking around Lexington, just the knowledge of the fan base. You know, sometimes I try to go incognito and put a hat on and some glasses. Not happening. Not happening. Not happening.
Starting point is 00:27:55 But it's a beautiful thing. But I think the thing that really impresses me the most is the knowledge of the fan base. You know, they really understand basketball. They understand good basketball. And they've been extremely supportive. And, you know, I said it in my presser, this is a sleeping giant. And it's all it needed to do is be awakened. And once we get BBN really, really behind us and understanding who we are,
Starting point is 00:28:18 I think it's really going to help a good team become great. You guys have, I mean, one of the tallest teams I've ever seen. It feels like you tower over everybody. Is that just the sort of uniqueness of this roster? or is that kind of how you try to build rosters in general? You know, last year, well, the last few years, I had a 6-foot-6 All-American, and we really had a lot of success, you know, running the basketball through her.
Starting point is 00:28:44 And if you're going to be one of the elite teams, you've got to have some tall players. But the one difference this year, we're very tall, but they're all like unicorns, Matt. They're not the typical 6-5 kid who can't move. They're also agile. So it allows me to be very big. versatile. We can switch. We have Claris Strack, who is going to be a budding superstar in this
Starting point is 00:29:06 league, who can switch off onto a guard and guard them. And even though she isn't as quick as a guard, she's so long, and they all can test shots at the rim. And they do a great job of doing that, and they do a great job of rebounding. As you mentioned, we have three kids who are averaging more than nine rebounds of basketball games. So it's very unorthodox. It's a little bit different than the typical SEC women's basketball teams or rosters. But I think that's what we really wanted. We didn't want to be just like everyone else. And I think that's going to present challenges for a lot of people.
Starting point is 00:29:39 Last thing, obviously South Carolina has been a juggernaut the last couple years. LSU's won a title. The SEC is obviously great. Those two teams have kind of stood out. But the rest of the league, it's gone up and down, depending on which programs are doing well. I'm not asking you to predict where you're going to finish. But as you keep going through SEC play, do you feel like you will be able to compete with all of these teams going forward? The only thing I will predict is that we will get better every game.
Starting point is 00:30:08 That's a very coach answer, Keny. That's a very coach answer. Look, you know, this league is a juggernaut. And, you know, when you've added two teams like Texas and Oklahoma, along with, you know, like a Vanderbilt team who is playing extremely well, Ole Miss has always done well, there's so many. And every night it's going to be a challenge. So the only thing I can tell you is that we will get better every game. And we'll go out there and we'll do our best.
Starting point is 00:30:34 And if we do that, then I think we can compete in this league for a lot of things. You definitely can compete. There are a lot of fun to watch. Drew and I've been watching every game. I'm going to be out there at your Auburn game coming up in a couple weeks. I look forward to it. Kenny Brooks, thank you very much. Good luck with the rest of the year.
Starting point is 00:30:49 Appreciate you, Matt. Thank you. There you go. Kenny Brooks. We'll take a break. And be right back. This is Kentucky Sports Radio. T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J. He'll make them pay.
Starting point is 00:31:02 Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio. All right. We are here at KS. Barr. Thank you all very much. We'll be open all day tonight. Come on out before the game tomorrow. Remember, we're going to, the pregame show tomorrow starts at 8.30 in the morning. So get up. Get your alarm. Turn us on 830 WLAP and 840 WHS. and then this bar will open at 9 for the game. We'll be serving breakfast. I'm going to be up all night cooking. I've got, yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:35 Okay. You know, I do a good biscuits and gravy and, like, chicken and waffles. What goes into your gravy? Oh, I put, like, flour. Okay. Yeah. There's a check. And then gravy, and you put it all together, and it works out.
Starting point is 00:31:47 So I'll be up cooking tonight if you're looking for me. And then tomorrow we'll have breakfast. You can have breakfast before you go to the game so that you feel all. full and, you know, full. We should have told that guy, don't waste your money on concessions at Rupp Arena. Come here first because our breakfast is really good. I don't mean to be mean about concessions at Rupp, but like, don't eat at Rupp. Eat either here or somewhere.
Starting point is 00:32:09 Like, there's so many good restaurants. Like, why spend your money on Rup food? No offense. You get a soda or a slurpee or something there, but you don't need to get food. I like Ruff. It's not exactly a headquarters of cuisine. I think I've had Chick-fil-A every game this season. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:25 So I said, in terms of the men making seven threes in a game, two different players, no one's ever done it. We've only had twice where two different players have made six threes in a game. Corey Price picks out, would you like to guess? You got one of them, Jamal Mashburn and Travis Ford. That's what Drew said, yeah. Yeah, against Indiana, they did it. Can you name the other duo to have six threes in a game? And I'm just going to go ahead and tell you, there's no chance you're going to get this, but take a guess.
Starting point is 00:32:55 Well, you start with... Where you tagged me in the tweets, I already saw it. Oh. I'll let you play right. Well, I mean, I would guess the easy ones. Jody Meeks and somebody... But I just said there's no way you're going to guess it. So guess something off the radar.
Starting point is 00:33:05 What I think is it is it Jody Meeks and, like, somebody obscure? How about March 6, 2021, Davion Mints, and B.J. Boston? Oh, I never would have come up with that one. Wow. How long would it have taken you to get that duo? You probably could have told me the year, and I probably still could come up with those two guys. Davey on Mince and BJ. And Boston.
Starting point is 00:33:27 Save that one for a trivia night. That's no one's getting that except Corey. We do have to talk about this story again in London, in Laurel County. I don't know if you guys are following this. But I didn't think the story could get any worse until I saw the update. Okay, so if you remember, a man was in his home, the police came in with the warrant, ended up shooting him, he died, and it turns out the warrant was for a different house. Correct.
Starting point is 00:34:02 It was for a house down the road. It was not for his house. Now, according to the reports, they did knock. So it wasn't a no-knock warrant. They did knock, but they come in, they shoot him. Okay, then we find out that the thing they were coming with the warrant for was a stolen weed eater. Okay, that's bad and that's bad. Secondly, we find out it's at midnight.
Starting point is 00:34:29 They come looking for a stolen wheat eater at midnight, not exactly a prime time to go looking for weed eaters. Then we find out the weed eater was the county judge executive's weed eater. So that makes you think, oh, maybe there was a little encouragement. But the fact I found out yesterday, it goes from poor decision to horrific decision. They had already arrested the guy who had done it. He was already in jail. He was already in jail.
Starting point is 00:35:06 They already had the guy in jail. They were using the warrant just to go get the weed eater. Not to get him to get the weed eater. They went to this man's house at me. midnight to allegedly get a stolen weed eater that the person that allegedly took it was already in jail. And in the aftermath, someone gets killed. What in the world? What kind of decision is that?
Starting point is 00:35:38 You can't wait until the morning to go get the weed eater. It has to be gotten at midnight. I couldn't believe that when I were in that. Do we even need a warrant for, why are we chasing out weed eaters at midnight? Well, I mean, they're chasing it down probably because the county judge executive wanted his weed eater back. But he didn't need it at midnight.
Starting point is 00:35:59 For resources of whatever it takes to go knock down the door at midnight for a weed eater? Yeah, I don't think he was going to mow his grass in a December morning, the next morning. No urgency at all to go get that weed eater at midnight. A man got killed who had nothing to do with it, at least allegedly. But even if he took it, You don't kill a man over a weed eater. In his own home.
Starting point is 00:36:20 At midnight, even if he took it. But it wasn't even the guy who took it. It was somebody else. There needs to be consequences for anyone that played a role in this. I mean, not only did they get the house wrong, which is a tragic mistake, but I don't think they got the house wrong intentionally. But even if that was that dude had been given the stolen weed eater, let's say they had a criminal mastermind to sell black market wheat eaters. You don't need to go into their house at midnight going looking for a weed eater. Armed guards busting in your house at midnight for a
Starting point is 00:36:58 weed eater. It's unbelievable. It is. It really is. There are a lot of bad stories that come out, but that's one that I just can't believe. Right for Christmas, a man at home, maybe asleep. Unbelievable story. Who's up next? Kathy. Kathy. Go ahead, Kathy. I have a question regarding the scenario of the couple that went to the Italian or Mexican singer or whatever. What are your thoughts if it had been switched? It was a female and she had pulled and her date had been pulled up or her husband had been pulled up. I don't think she would have liked it. Do you?
Starting point is 00:37:38 So you're saying if it was like Sabrina Carpenter and she asked the husband to, come on stage. I can't imagine again. I'm not married, but when I think of the relationships I've had, I'm not sure most of my serious relationships would have enjoyed me going on stage and dancing with Sabrina Carpenter or pick the female singer Madonna or whoever. I just, I don't think that would have been something they would have liked. All right. Just curious. Appreciate the call. Do you? I saw the video. It was a little more than just dancing. up on the stage. What about you?
Starting point is 00:38:17 What about your current girlfriend or past wives if, like, Janet Jackson brought you on stage? See, I knew. I picked Janet Jackson because I knew his face would be like that, Shannon, because he's got a thing for Janet Jackson. Yeah. Let's say, Jan— Okay, this is a good question.
Starting point is 00:38:34 I'm going to answer it honestly. Let's say it's you and yoga girl. Yeah. Janet Jackson's playing here at Ruppery. Yep. I pull some strings. I get you on the front row. Okay.
Starting point is 00:38:43 Janet, Miss Jackson, if you're nasty. All right, she calls you up on stage and you go. And then she starts doing to you what Romeo did to this woman. What happens next? I'm sure, honestly, I would go for it. I would go up on the stage. What do you mean you would go for? I would dance with her.
Starting point is 00:39:06 I would follow Janet Jackson's lead, and we would have a... Okay, that's plenty. But I know yoga girl would probably be very upset. Okay. All right. So wait a bit. Hang on just a thing. You know she's going to get upset. Yeah. And you're doing it anyway. I think these times in our lives don't come very often. And if it was, she likes Brad Pitt. If Brad Pitt pulled her up on stage you did it, I would have to just suck it up and it would be okay with it. So you're acting like it's like a hall pass. A hall pass. Yeah. So then it's over. Let's say she gets mad. Yeah. And she probably would.
Starting point is 00:39:42 then what happens are you writing an instagram post like this no i'm not i am sucking up and trying to make up for every wrong that i had done but you're still doing i'm still doing it you said you'd be okay if she did it too though yeah i'd i'd have to be i'd have to be okay if brad pitt pulled her up on stage i mean i i love her but i trust her enough that she just leave it on the stage you're acknowledging you're going to go grind with janet jackson that's all it is it doesn't go any further that is just grinding on stage. So you think grinding is fine. Up on stage at a concert.
Starting point is 00:40:17 But she starts kissing you. Yeah, they kissed. Yeah, they did. Romeo and that girl were kissing. Well, that's the exercise. So let's say Janet and Janet starts going, hey, boy, look how hot this man is. He pulls on those plugs and like things start getting hot and heavy. You think about her when you're asleep and you're awake, just like the Romeo lady.
Starting point is 00:40:39 I would probably just for the moment, go along with it for the moment. You know, it's off of the show. You know, I do a lot of crazy stuff here. Oh, it's for the show. It's all for the show. How does that help the show? Well, you know, the crowd wants that. The crowd out there.
Starting point is 00:40:51 Oh, you mean the Janet Jackson show? Yes. Oh, you're doing it for her. Yes. Okay. It would make great content for us for a week. What if it's Darius Rucker and not Janet Jackson? I'll probably still get grinding with him.
Starting point is 00:41:03 It actually sounds like you're taking Matt's. He would. He would grind with Darius. I know he would. It sounds like Ryan's asking for forgiveness, not permission. Yeah, you know, it sounds like you and this lady at the Romeo concert don't have that much difference. I would think yoga girl and my relationship is strong enough. We could survive a grinding incident with Janet Jackson.
Starting point is 00:41:25 Well, I don't know that we'll ever find out, but you might find out tonight when she hears this, whether or not that's going to happen. Which might already be done. Yeah. We might be seeing an apology Instagram this evening. BBN, if you're exercising more, being healthier and saving more money, then you also might need to get some physical therapy. You might pull something that you haven't used in a while. Just like Ryan did, Janet Jackson.
Starting point is 00:41:47 Court physical therapy has been Kentucky and his leader in physical therapy for more than 30 years. Go to court.com and stay painfree with court.com. I think you got yourself in trouble. I just got hot. I got to take my jacket all. I got hot. Just stay away from me. We'll be right back.

When Jacob met Levant, this went to a billion-dollar fraud. But with two kings from entirely different worlds,

Every single game, there will be big SEC games. You can go to Draft Kings and make your bet. Bet $2, bet $5 win $200 in bonus bets. If you win, let's make our Draft King select.
Starting point is 00:47:16 Let me go through these SEC games to start. Quickly give me your winner because all of these games, every single one of these games is going to be good. This is going to be true of every SEC game this year. They're all going to be good. Anyone can beat anybody. Georgia's at Ole Miss. Drew. Ole Miss.
Starting point is 00:47:32 Ole Miss at home I think gets the victory. South Carolina is at Mississippi State. Mississippi State. Mississippi State. Missouri's at Auburn. I think we all take Auburn, right? Vandie's at LSU. Shannon, do you get a victory?
Starting point is 00:47:44 I think so. This is a good Vandy. team. I think they win tomorrow. I think it's a pretty good LSU team. It is. I'm going to take LSU. I'm going to be picking home teams a lot this year, Drew. Yep.
Starting point is 00:47:53 Yeah, I'm going LSU also. All right. Texas is at Texas A&M. These teams haven't played in a decade. And that's their first SEC game for Texas. Wow. It's at A&M? Yep.
Starting point is 00:48:05 I'm going A&M. I'm going A&M. I'm going to go A&M. All right, the big ones. Oklahoma is at Alabama. Oklahoma is undefeated playing against Alabama. Does Oklahoma's undefeated streak in? Because Alabama wins easily.
Starting point is 00:48:18 I think Alabama is still one of the best teams in the country. I'm going to take Alabama. And then right after our game, John Caliperi goes into Rick Barnes, who has at times owned him, although Cal's been pretty good in Knoxville, even though he wasn't as good at home, Arkansas at Tennessee. This is the only road team I'm picking. Rick Barnes has John Calaparry's number. Arkansas is at Tennessee. I thought it was at Arkansas.
Starting point is 00:48:45 No. I'm picking Tennessee. I think Arkansas is better than I gave them credit earlier, but I think they get killed in this one. They're ranked now. Yeah, I'm aware. And I think they're good, but I think Tennessee wins big. Yeah, I mean, Rick Barnes has kind of owned Cal,
Starting point is 00:48:59 even when Cal had really good teams. Yes. So I kind of think, I think Tennessee rolls them. But we'll see. If it were in Arkansas, I might pick Arkansas. I just think that's a big task for it. Every game, from now on, every little block of games, there's going to be an upset.
Starting point is 00:49:16 Like there's just, there's going to be an upset like every single one. One of these games, there's going to be an upset. Somebody's going to win a big road game that we don't expect. You got the Adu homecoming for Tennessee too, Arkansas, Tennessee. That's right. He is going home. Who's up next? Marsha.
Starting point is 00:49:31 Marsha. Marcia, go ahead, Marcia. I'm so glad that you had Kenny Brooks on. I wanted to, you know, I bought tickets, season tickets before the season. I thought, well, I'll do my part to help pay for that $82 million renovation, even though I thought I won't go to that many games, you know, come driving from Louisville. But it's so exciting. I've been to every one of them.
Starting point is 00:49:59 Have you really? And I want you. Yes, I enjoy it. I'm getting into it. I don't feel as pressure. You know, when I'm at the men's game, I feel like I'm working the whole time. I do, too. I understand that, yeah.
Starting point is 00:50:12 I'm more relaxed at the women's. I understand that. And I want you to know last night when we were getting ready to go in, somebody said, are you, Marcia? He said, I recognize that voice. Celebrity. Yeah, Marcia. That's right.
Starting point is 00:50:30 OG. Marcia, thank you very much. Appreciate the call. Okay. By the way, some breaking news this morning, Shannon, go ahead. Okay. Okay. The NCAA is considering a proposal.
Starting point is 00:50:44 that starting next year, all players would have five years of eligibility. It's been that way for the last couple of years. Might as well continue it, it seems like. What do you think about that? Would that affect anyone on the team now? I got to be honest. I do this for a living. I still don't know who's got years left.
Starting point is 00:51:04 Who doesn't? Ever since 2020, I don't have a clue. The question would be there are people who are fifth year seniors because of COVID, but if you started in 2021, you wouldn't have had a COVID year. So do we have any true seniors on this team? Like true seniors or are they all COVID? They're all super seniors. Yeah, every one of them.
Starting point is 00:51:26 Butler's a super senior. Yeah. Carr is. Williams. Robinson is. Well, Crease is getting another year, though. Yeah. Yeah, all the super senior guys.
Starting point is 00:51:36 Amari might be a regular senior. Amari might be. So, I mean, just that, first of all, huge deal. Yeah. Huge deal. I would say a bigger deal in basketball because you're going to see dudes who playing a fifth year of college is better for them than going to the pros. Sure. There's going to be there's going to be a bunch of dudes.
Starting point is 00:51:55 Amari's a super senior. So may not affect us on this year's team. But now like you're going to see a lot of dudes play five years, I think, if that ends up happening. Call me crazy. But I thought a degree took four years. So they said you get four years. You took you five. But I'm not playing basketball.
Starting point is 00:52:13 I thought it was built around you could get your undergraduate in four years, so it's four years. So does that mean I have? I just don't understand the point of this. Do I have an extra year of eligibility? I got one more year? The point of it is, well, I don't know that there's a point. Let me. Well, I mean, I think it's my point.
Starting point is 00:52:34 I think the argument is like, look, this is pro sports now. Let's just treat it as that. I mean, I think that's what the point of it is. Why even go to school then? They shouldn't even have to go class. Well, I mean, that's a fair question. He's about to play his eighth year. So a dude could go to a junior college, play two years, not counting his eligibility.
Starting point is 00:52:50 Yeah, I think what they're going to do there, though, is it'll be five years total, no matter what. Okay. So even if you get hurt, five years, sorry, you don't get a, there's no quote-unquote red shirt year. You have five years, period, end of story. If you get hurt, sorry, five years. That's what they're going to do. Okay, that makes a little more sense. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:13 But it's just, I mean, I know this goes back to COVID and it'll eventually get sorted out. But for the last few years, this has just been, all right, whatever. He's, my dad went to school. I think the thought is, like, you know, sometimes they give people breaks. They're grad transfers. They're this. I think the NCAA is just going to do a five years everybody. That's it.
Starting point is 00:53:30 Period. Do what you want, but you have five years. I think that's what they're going to end up doing. Who's next? Tom. Tom. Go ahead, Tom. Hey, Matt.
Starting point is 00:53:39 Hey, you missed a key part of the story about that guy getting shot down there. Okay. He pointed a loaded gun at the police. I understand that, but that he was in his house, right? Like, I mean, he was, and don't give me wrong. Don't give me wrong. I'm not taking up for him shooting him. I'm saying to you that situation should have been avoided.
Starting point is 00:53:58 Should have never happened. You're right about that. But the easiest way in the world to get shot is to point a loaded gun at the police. I get it. I get it. But then there's also, but in the middle of the night, you may or may not know if the people or the police are or not. Like, I don't even have a gun, sir.
Starting point is 00:54:14 Like, I'm not taking up for pointing a gun. I don't even own a gun. But I'm saying to you, part of being a policeman is avoiding situations where stuff like that can happen. And I'm not even blaming the police. Whoever sent them there at midnight to get a weed eater, that was a mistake. You're correct in everything you said. But don't, the guy was right. He could be right.
Starting point is 00:54:38 But in this case, he was dead right. Yeah. Well, you may be right about that. I understand what you're saying. I'm not making anybody the bad guy, but that situation should have been avoided. 8.30 in the morning tomorrow, right here for the pregame show. Nine, we open KSpar. Thank you all very much.
