Hour number two, Kentucky Sports Radio, 859-280-2807. Let's try this again.
Starting point is 00:03:13 You all are getting distracted by the bourbon. Welcome back, Kentucky Sports Radio. There we go. Here live at Bespoken Spirits. See, that's the thing. You start giving them bourbon. You know, by the second hour, things start to get a little shady. You would think in theory, Berbman, would make them louder.
Starting point is 00:03:31 Yeah, but it makes them louder. They're having conversations, which, Ron, I'm going to stop giving you compliments if you don't get him to stop talking. We're doing the show. All right. 899-2-2-2287. The text machine is 772-7-744-5-254. By the way, Aristotle was the first person to say, the whole is greater than some of the part. So if he has a problem with it, he needs to call Aristotle.
Starting point is 00:03:57 That wasn't you, though. It was not me that came up with it. I just completely took it from Aristotle. All right, let's do a couple quick non-UK things. First, we got back on in London after I complained about them pulling us in London. Turns out the London people had new ownership, didn't know that their stationed and pulled it, got it back on. Nice.
Starting point is 00:04:17 So now we are. Nice, yes. I think they heard Kentucky Joe, they wanted to focus on the music, right? That's what it was. That's why we had Joe's calls to get back to focusing on the. Can you imagine if they just put us back on the air right when he got ready to sing that song? Probably wouldn't have been the best thing in the world. Have you, Shannon, do you know who Danielle Collins is?
Starting point is 00:04:37 I do not. Does anybody in this room know who Daniel Collins is? A couple of you do? Not the book. I mean, she may be named Daniel Collins as well. I don't think Joan. Anyway, what I'm talking about this tennis player, Danielle Collins. Okay, you know who she is.
Starting point is 00:04:56 everybody you know everybody needs to when this show's over go on you at least for two more days ticot or whatever and see daniel car she's an american tennis player he's playing in the australian open all right i don't know why for some reason the australians don't like her i don't know if she did something sometimes but like they don't like her in australia so they boo her etc during the matches she wins a match to uh to beat someone and And when it's over, you know, I don't know if you see tennis players. They wave to the crowd. They wave to the crowd and they all boo her.
Starting point is 00:05:34 Now, this is tennis. Like people don't, first of all, very few people get booed in tennis. It doesn't happen a lot. She, I guess, gets the boo. Rather than be rattled, she looks at the crowd, takes her hand, puts it on her lips like she's going to kiss and then just smacks her body. Oh, love it. And she looks at the crowd. You got to see this video.
Starting point is 00:05:56 They're booing her, and she basically gives a kiss my ass right to the crowd. And that makes her boo her more. She keeps getting it up. Then they do the interview, and they're like, what do you think about the crowd booing you? And she's like, I'd like to thank you all for paying for my vacation here. And she becomes like a professional wrestler. This woman is 31 years old. She is talking trash.
Starting point is 00:06:20 She plays again tonight, okay? They're going to be booing her off the court. But I've heard of her but really didn't know much about her. But Shannon, now I think I have my favorite women's tennis player. Anybody who will look at a crowd and tell them to kiss their tail with them all booing each other is pretty awesome. That makes two of us. I have no idea who Daniel Collins is, but now she's my favorite because I think she just made tennis great again. You know, you need to watch yourself.
Starting point is 00:06:49 But she plays tonight, Drew and it'll be while we're all asleep. because Australia's got stupid time, but nevertheless, I'm going to be pulling for it. Yeah, I saw her do it. One, it's good. We finally have some Americans making some noise in tennis. Yeah, we're good at tennis now. Yeah, we're good at tennis now. Yeah. And the women's. But that's one of the all-time just crowd, hill turns really in any sport. I mean, you don't see that in like a rowdy basketball. No. You'll get a little back and forth, but in tennis you get a moment with the mic. You get that whole thing afterwards. It was very professional wrestling. Like, I was expected her to do it. DX chop out there.
Starting point is 00:07:26 Like, I loved it. You need to want you. I feel like you would appreciate her, Ryan. She's ready to go. It's crazy to hear this story because, as we just said, you know, tennis etiquette is, you know, you're all proper and nice. She was not proper. And it makes me feel like she is maybe going to draw some attention to now to United States
Starting point is 00:07:43 Women's Tennis. So why are they booing her to begin with? I don't know. I'm not sure what happened. I would say the crowd is the jerk, right? Yeah, I don't know. There was something a couple years ago, something. She was like, she wasn't going to play, but then she entered.
Starting point is 00:07:58 Maybe she took an Australian spot or something. I don't know what it was. I love her attitude regardless. For whatever it was, she, you know, she ended up making it out. All right. So the other thing. Again, this is kind of a Shannon Drew story. Have you seen the story about the chat GPT boyfriend?
Starting point is 00:08:18 Do you know this? No, but I'm intrigued. Okay, so in New York Times, another article that I would read just for kind of the weirdness of it because I read it and it kind of freaked me out. New York Times has a story about this woman. Apparently there are a lot of people doing this, but they focused on this one woman
Starting point is 00:08:35 who her husband travels a lot for work and she gets lonely. So she signed up for Chat GPT and she basically, through ChatGPT, asked for an AI boyfriend. I'm not, I'm not kidding. kidding you. You need to read this story. It's wild. She signed up for an AI boyfriend, and she says she has...
Starting point is 00:09:00 Whoa. The bespoken poster almost fell on Ryan's head there. She says that she fell in love with the AI boyfriend. Because the AI boyfriend would write her immediately. Can someone please help with this so Drew can do this? She would write the AI boyfriend. He would respond to me. he would say all the things her husband did not say to her he called her whatever like whatever pet name she wanted he called etc and she said she found herself falling in love with him and their marriage
Starting point is 00:09:37 which was apparently on the rocks she says has been saved because the chat gpt boyfriend which she knows is not real does i'm not kidding you does the things that her real life husband won't do. So then they, besides the physical thing. Well, they at least says the right things. So then they interview her husband in this story and her husband says, yeah, I'm good with it because it's not real. They went to another couple.
Starting point is 00:10:10 Same thing happened with the woman and they divorced because the husband became jealous of the chat GPT boyfriend. Man. These are like professionals. These are not like, these are like both these people have like professional jobs. So here's my question. Let's say your wife or girlfriends was doing this with a chat GPT boyfriend. Do you think you would be good with it?
Starting point is 00:10:39 Because like then you don't have to talk as much? Or do you think, Shannon? So Shannon, you're good with it. If she wants to sex with a robot, she can do that all she wants. So you're fine with sex team with a robot. I can do a lot more than that robot can. That's the way I look at it. That's the way.
Starting point is 00:10:58 I know that technology is getting really good. That's true. No, that's a different story. All right, so I was going to say, Shannon, I'm sure you'd be like, do it, then I don't have to talk to you. Yeah. Ryan, I'm going to guess you would be jealous of the chat GPT boyfriend. I probably would be. You know, what is she getting from chat GPT guy that she's not getting from me?
Starting point is 00:11:17 She's no support. Yeah, intelligence. Like all these very. Artificial, but it's a Consistency. Consistency. Consistency, intelligence, support,
Starting point is 00:11:28 all those things. Yeah, I think there's not real. Like, it's not a real person. It's just a computer. There's a lot to dissect here with these two stories you've been telling us. And I think probably their problems go a lot deeper than that. But she's saying we had problems. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:46 We were headed towards a divorce. And this. my ability to get this out to this computer is saving our marriage. And I would say, is this person with us in the room right now? Like, are you okay? I would worry about her mental. So you think it's like... Yeah, I don't think that's normal behavior to talk to a computer over a human being
Starting point is 00:12:10 and think that that's better relationship. I just wonder, when I read the story, I tend to agree with you, but I was wondering, like, I feel like this is going to happen a lot more. I think it's actually getting good on. Even, like, I, maybe leave aside relationships, like kids having sort of friends that are not real via AI. Like, I don't know. I feel like this is going to be something we hear about a lot more. There's some tragic stories already with kids and talking to, like, friends that are chat GPT and robots.
Starting point is 00:12:36 Yeah. It's pretty bad. So anyway, you should read the New York Times story. It's one of the most bizarre stories I've ever. We didn't get kids for it. I am. We didn't get your answer. Oh, I'm fine with it.
Starting point is 00:12:47 There you go. I mean like, you know, plus I already said, I know more than Google. Like you're not going to color those pet names. AI's not going to be able to do to communicate like I can. Who's up next? Jerry is up next. Jerry, go ahead, Jerry. Hey, man.
Starting point is 00:13:06 I've just like you have a fault. I've been following this, what the Department of Education did. And I think that in addition to what the Department of Education did, I think the fact that Ted Cruz is writing this NIL bill in Congress, and that's going to be, and he has, but he's doing it, but he's doing it with Corey. But he's doing it with Cory Booker. So like the, uh, that, so any NIL deal in Congress is going to have to be bipartisan for reasons that are too complicated to get into, but the way the rules are.
Starting point is 00:13:37 So I agree with you. The schools are probably better off that Trump won, but still, they'll have to get 10 Democrat votes in the Senate to pass anything. Well, one of the things I always felt that a lot of the player averages were saying about what they wanted to see happen was that I didn't ever see, I'm even talking about progressive Democrats supporting any kind of bill that in any way would diminish women sports. I'm not talking about the SEC and the Big Ten. I'm talking about like the Mac and the Big 12 and a lot of these conferences look and have to eliminate sports, including women. boards. But I mean, that's going to happen. Well, remember, remember, though, remember, though, the $22 million deal, schools don't have to do that. So the colleges are saying if colleges want to give $22 million
Starting point is 00:14:34 to their kids, they can. They're not saying that they have to. So I think what's going to end up happening is the power for schools, your SEC Big 10, ACC, Big 12 are going to do it. And the other conferences are not. So like your Easterns and your westerns are not. So I don't know that it's really going to change anything except I think the days of a player choosing to go to say, I don't know, Tulane over Mississippi State, that might end, but because schools do not have to do it. They can, but they don't have to.
Starting point is 00:15:14 Well, one of the things I thought was pure comedy. I don't know if you listen to the Tennessee Postgame shows after Ohio State, but the Tennessee people that were crying because Ohio State had spent $30 million on their roster, but it was Tennessee that sued to get the NIO rules all thrown out. And that's why I think you're finding out here, too, is, you know, Tennessee thought they did something because they had one old billionaire. Well, they're finding out, Ohio State's got 10 guys like that. Texas has 20. But one of the things we've learned, I appreciate the call,
Starting point is 00:15:48 but spending money does not guarantee you a roster. I mean, Notre Dame for all the money that school has, actually did not spend very much on their roster at all. Indiana, SMU, some of those teams, look, the teams that spend the most money are going to have the best chance to win, Ryan, but we will continue, I think, to see teams that don't spend a ton win, and this $22 million, I had, well, I'll take, Vince Mero said this to me. Vince Merrill said the $22 million will be a great equalizer for college football
Starting point is 00:16:19 because we all now are spending the same amount of money. That's positive, I think, for schools like Kentucky football. I think it's very positive for schools like that. What's matter? I think it's very positive for school like that. If you stand behind me, it goes through your mic, end of mine, and that's how we get it. I thought it was going to be able to blow over again. No, you scoot over.
Starting point is 00:16:40 That's how we get in that. 8-9-2-8-2202. 87 who's next Kyle is up next Kyle go ahead Kyle Hey man How's everybody doing today Doing good
Starting point is 00:16:52 Hey uh What I wanted to talk about Something you've talked about yesterday You talked about it before the FA Cup in England Yes So it's super popular in England Obviously because of how popular soccer is there in the rest of the world But it's not unique to England
Starting point is 00:17:07 We actually do have that here in the United States as well It's called the Open Cup Yeah Just nobody knows about it I'm talking about something that people would know about That's the only reason I'm doing Yeah, I got you But I mean it's similar here
Starting point is 00:17:20 The smaller teams Have a chance to play the bigger teams The team here in Louisville, Lou City has had a chance to play Several MLS teams And actually years ago, kind of like the team you were talking about The got to play in the Cracker Jack Stadium
Starting point is 00:17:31 The Cracker Box Stadium We played an MLS team In U of L Stadium And that was kind of cool Being two big teams Playing in a tiny college stadium So similar environment But it is it does exist elsewhere
Starting point is 00:17:42 and it's a pretty cool tournament here in the United States as well. All right, I appreciate the call. They're starting to put the college basketball stuff up more as football ends. Go to Draft Kings, download the app.
Starting point is 00:19:14 Promocodes, KSR. I'm going to run through these here. Let's start with – there's a lot of chances for upsets out there. Let's start with Tennessee at your Vanderbilt Commodores. What are the chances the Valls get an upset? Probably not high, to be honest with you. But I'm going to take Vandy anyway. What's the point spread on there?
Starting point is 00:19:33 Not out yet. Okay. I'm going to take Vandy. Vandy. Yeah. Tennessee. Tennessee. I'm going to take Tennessee.
Starting point is 00:19:40 They'll probably have as many fans there as Vandy Will since they're since they're there. Texas is at Florida. Florida's got upset at home against Missouri. Does it happen again? Texas look good against Oklahoma. No, I think Florida's just got too much firepower, too many good shooters on the team to lose again. It's unrelated. You see the Florida news this morning?
Starting point is 00:19:59 What? Oh, they're assisting. Another coach charged with a sexual thing. That staff might have to clear that out. I'm going to pick them here, but figure it out, Florida. I don't know if they lose two in a row at home, so I'm going to go Florida. I'm going to go Florida as well. O and four in conference, South Carolina versus O and four in conference Oklahoma.
Starting point is 00:20:17 Who's going O and five? South Carolina is going O and five. They are really bad, although Vandy just barely snucked by them the other night, but I think Oklahoma wins this one. Oklahoma wins this one. Yeah, Oklahoma. I'm going to take Oklahoma. They're better than being O and four in conference. LSU at Texas A&M.
Starting point is 00:20:31 We're all going to pick Texas A&M. Ole Miss at Mississippi State, the battle of Mississippi. first time both teams have been ranked in this game in 14 years. Old Miss and Mississippi State. It's going to be one of the better games of the weekend. I think Old Miss, you know, they just went on the road to beat Bama. I think they pull off another road win. I'm conflicted on this one.
Starting point is 00:20:50 I'll say Mississippi State. This is going to be a battle. Yeah, by the way, if we want to win the conference, we kind of need Mississippi State to win this game. Ole Miss 4 and O in the conference. They could be 5 at 0 if they win this game. Yeah, Mississippi State. If it was at Missouri, I might take Missouri, but at home, I'm going to go Mississippi State.
Starting point is 00:21:04 Yeah, I'm going to Mississippi State. Remember, we still have to go to Ole Miss, so we need Ole Miss to get some losses in case we were to lose to them. All right, let me give you the two ones that are probably most interesting to people here. Auburn, number one in the country, goes on the road to Georgia, who beat us. Can they get another victory at home in a huge upset? They're expecting maybe there are already students lined up. They're expecting one of the wildest crowds for a non-Kentucky game in Georgia history. I wouldn't be shocked if Georgia pulled the upset, but I think that Auburn wins.
Starting point is 00:21:34 I'll do it. I'll take the dogs. do a bad game, Broom's out, they played well in the first one without them. They got to lose at some point. Georgia made a believer out of me at home. I'm going Georgia also. I'm going to go Georgia. If Broom was there, I would take Coburn, but without, I think Georgia pulls it off.
Starting point is 00:21:48 And then, you know, outside of the Kentucky game, which we'll pick later, does John Caliperi get his first win? Arkansas at Missouri. Missouri is three and one in the conference, beat Kansas, one at Florida? Can he get, is this one he steals? It's just hard for me to see Caliparry. It would be hard for me to see him go 0 and 4 before they did. I don't think he goes 0.15.
Starting point is 00:22:09 I think Arkansas wins. You're going to take Arkansas on the road, okay? They're going to be an underdog. I got to take – they can't go 0 and 5. I mean, I'm someone that didn't think it was going to work, but 0.5 is horrible. They have too much talent, right? I mean, to go 0.5. They got two guys that are projected to be first-round picks.
Starting point is 00:22:25 Two guys, and they're 0-and-4. You're taking Arkansas? They have to win this one. Arkansas loses. They go 0-and-5. They're losing. Wow. If they go 0 and 5, they probably go 0 and 6,
Starting point is 00:22:39 because I think they get a tough game after that. Can I give you a little secret? I have in the last few games bet decently on Arkansas, because I'm like he can't keep losing. Like they can't, they just can't keep losing. And then they keep losing. Yep. So I can't jump off the train until they actually win one.
Starting point is 00:22:58 So I think I'm going to pick Arkansas. But if they're 0.5. Yeah. I mean. And then they got Georgia after that. And they got Georgia, well, they got Georgia at home and Oklahoma and home, and then they come to us, right? Yeah. So, oh, and five.
Starting point is 00:23:12 But I'm going to take Arkansas to win. That's kind of a rivalry game, the battle of the Ozarks or whatever. I think they end up winning. Who's next? Chase is up next. Chase, go ahead, Chase. Hey, guys, this is a perfect statement for what I want to say. Okay, now I can tell.
Starting point is 00:23:32 Go ahead. I just want to say thank you to Tosin, Chicken, Walmart, all the people that got rid of cow. Okay. And then also, what do you think the key is to winning tomorrow, but most importantly,
Starting point is 00:23:50 the final four run? Well, I mean, the final four run, I appreciate the call. Tomorrow, I think we just, we got to score, in my opinion, Drew, score,
Starting point is 00:24:03 what's a magical number? 87? seven? I might even go higher, but yeah, that's pretty good. Yeah, I mean, for me, it's we got to make shots. If we make shots, Ryan, I think we can win this game. If we get to 90, I'd feel good about it. This offense for Alabama is not as powerful as their final four team was last year.
Starting point is 00:24:25 If we make shots, we win. I do not think we will be able to stop them, so we're going to have to score a lot. I think you hit it. Alabama is going to score. They're going to put the points on the board. We have to match that. Can't get down 10 in the second half. I have the one of those drops that don't score any points because it may be tough to catch up
Starting point is 00:24:42 because they're going to score a lot of points. I think it's going to be as simple as whoever shoots the best three-point percentage wins the game. This is one of those, Shannon. Whoever makes the threes wins. Both teams are going to get open looks. So the question is who's going to make. That's what I was about to say. The game is going to be one or lost behind the arc.
Starting point is 00:24:58 Whoever makes the most threes, I think, wins. Neither of these teams are good enough defensively. and stop the other one from scoring. They're all going to get open looks. The question is, does Kobe Brea go four for seven or one for seven? Does Jackson Robinson go five for eight or two for eight? Like, that's really what we're looking at is whether or not they make the shots. And if they do, then with the home crowd and all that, I think we will be able to get the victory.
Starting point is 00:25:25 859-28027. We'll take a break. Be right back here. I keep on the same bellwether. With smoking spirits, KSA. Welcome back at Tatea Sports Radio here live at the Spoken Spirits. Club Blue NIL. We are giving away UK Alabama tickets at the end of the show.
Starting point is 00:25:47 Somebody just brought us food here. It is from Thea's Bass and Biddy. And I have to tell you, that is some good fish. It is really, really good. I mean, I got a high standard for fried fish. That is very, very good. And it has hot sauce, and let me just warn you, if anybody eats there, I like my hot sauce.
Starting point is 00:26:09 Is that a tear? That's like some real hot sauce. As Mario said to me when we went to the wing place, that's black people hot sauce right there. Like that's not, that's not Ryan hot sauce. I'm going to have to take us some soda here. That's really good. I would continue to eat that. That's really good.
Starting point is 00:26:29 What's it, Thea's Bass and Biddy here in the station? I'm walking over there for lunch after just having one bite of. that fish. That was so good. We've been around you. Hello. A long time. I'm eating hot sauce.
Starting point is 00:26:42 I've never seen that. I love hot sauce, but like I wasn't prepared for how hot that actually was. Now I'm curious. No, I mean, it's good.
Starting point is 00:26:49 First of all, I am not going to try it. Oh, I am not going to try it. Don't even try. It's not crazy. Like, it's fine. I just wasn't ready for it.
Starting point is 00:26:57 I didn't. I was thinking it was going to be one thing, and it was a different kind of thing. Dick Vital will be calling the Dick Vitale's going to call his first game of the year next Saturday, Duke against Wake Forest. I love Dick Vitale. Glad to see he's going to get to do games. He's had, you know, throat cancer.
Starting point is 00:27:17 It's been a hard comeback for him. He loves it. He keeps wanting to do it. And now he gets to do it next week. I got to be honest, a week or two ago when I think it might have been Seth Davis put out an interview with him at Dickie V said he was making a comeback. I thought, what? I mean, I'm glad he has that attitude, but he's had like 40-something treatments on his throat. Like, how could he make a comeback?
Starting point is 00:27:34 and here he is next week on the call. I'm going to make sure I'm tuned in. I'm very excited. That'd be a good game. Might be one of the few games. I said Duke could go undefeated in the ACC. They might have two chances to lose, and that will be one of Matt Wake Forest. Dude, you know, he's been fighting a fight for a long time.
Starting point is 00:27:50 He's been fighting a good fight. But he is college basketball. You know, when he's at a game, you think, okay, this game must be important because Dick Vital is here. Well, let me ask you about that. Like, if you were to, if you were to say, like, what is the best, What are your favorite announcers in college basketball or football? Like when you see there on the game, you're excited about. Just for me, my play-by-play is probably Tom Hart because I love the guy.
Starting point is 00:28:17 And then we don't get any of his games, but I like watching Gus Johnson. Just because of how excited he gets. You don't like him. He's too much for you. I also like Ian Eagle when he does college basketball during the tournament. for college football. I do like when Herb Street does a game. I think Jesse Palmer actually does a good job.
Starting point is 00:28:38 I think Greg McElroy does a pretty good job. And then who do you not like? Who do I not like? I have to think about it. Who do you like and who do you not like? You hit all the good ones. You know, of course I go back to a little farther with Al Michaels and Brent Musburger. They're all retired.
Starting point is 00:28:55 I'm saying now, who do you like? How Al Michaels does the NFL? Yeah, yeah. I do like Herb Street. You know, he's done college football and NFL now. He's so good he's doing both. I like I know you guys don't really like him that much
Starting point is 00:29:07 but I like Jimmy Dykes most of the time I like Jimmy Dykes I just don't know what he was drinking during the game the other day I like I like Jimmy Dykes but when he was like Kirk Creesa what language do you speak I'm like dude Jimmy hang on I may pop a gummy or something before the broadcast that night the whole broadcast was weird with him
Starting point is 00:29:25 I mean he was obsessed with that English professor on the Texas A&M well to be fair I kind of was too I mean that guy did have nice hair look like he shouldn't even been out there Can I tell you? Yeah, tell it. Wait, this is a fun fact of the day. Yeah, so it's your fact, so I'll tell you.
Starting point is 00:29:39 So Drew has a fun fact about this is the Texas A&M coach that looked like a professor. I started writing a story about this. I don't really know how to put into words, but that guy with that outfit was Cal's first lead assistant at Memphis for like three years. So we all just thought he's this. Well, you got to tell the second part. Well, I think maybe some there might have been giving him some ribbing when A&M would play Kentucky because the guy's appearance completely changed. I'm not even sure Cal knew who he was on the other bench.
Starting point is 00:30:06 No, Cal, the first time he came, did not know who his lead assistant was and did not speak to him the first time. If you look at the picture of the guy at Memphis and look at him now, they look nothing alike. But that guy that we thought was a cartoon character was a Cal assistant for three years. So, I mean, if you want sort of a summary of the change of Cal, he once had a guy who was so obsessive about X and O's, he ran plays for free throw rebounding, and now he has Chin Colvin.
Starting point is 00:30:36 Like, I mean, that's the change, Shannon, over the course of, like, 30 years. He doesn't care about the X's and O's, right? Well, his first, if you go back to his first staffs at Memphis, they were great. They had Derek Kellogg, who was a head coach, they had Robic, they had Painter, Josh Patner, Josh Passner, you know, and then you throw up. I didn't know they had this guy, but this guy was Robic went to Youngstown, was a head coach for a few years. So he was Robic.
Starting point is 00:31:05 He was with Derek Kellogg, and then the other one might have even been Barbier, or one of those guys, but he was kind of the Robic role while Robic was a head coach. So it's just interesting. He used to be Ryan, a coach that seemed to really want X and O guys around him. All of those people have a reputation of being X and O guys, and now I don't know what those guys have a reputation of being right now. I think when Cal first got here, he was. Maybe it was a Robic influence, but remember he changed.
Starting point is 00:31:29 from the dribble drive a couple of times, you reinvented it and kind of moved it around. Well, Robic was the ex and oak. I mean, you know, I've said this story many times, but I've set with Robic and watched him break down tape, and I know there's probably people who know basketball better than him, but I've never been around one. I mean, the way he saw things and the way he would write the tendencies,
Starting point is 00:31:50 I was like, dude, this dude is a savant. And I'm confident, Drew, they don't have that on the staff now. No, I like now with his staff. Pope trust the dude that's like the fourth assistant to step in and say something or to handle a responsibility We haven't been to practices, but I've had people that go to practices say you know before It might be like this a lot of places but the head coach runs everything the other guys are kind of helping out Pope's got guys stepping in reading off analytics. They all kind of have their own roles and it's more of a collective coaching than it is at a lot of places where just the main guys run on the show
Starting point is 00:32:23 During the transition a guy wrote me who's kind of in the high school recruiting world and he said was it Figer, Cody Figer? He said to me, again, I've only met Cody Figer once, not really spoken to him, but he said to me, Cody Figer is the smartest dude I've ever interacted with in college basketball. Mark Pope seems pretty smart. I mean, that combination is a pretty good combination. Who's up next?
Starting point is 00:32:49 Randy is up next. Randy, go ahead, Randy. Good morning, fellas. Hey, with this new NIL deal, and I know we're just navigating this, And is this something that I'm kind of concerned about, I guess, is this something that can be passed on to the fans when we see ticket prices increase? Yes. Let me give you a little secret.
Starting point is 00:33:11 Let me give you a little secret. Anytime, a Democrat probably shouldn't say this, but anytime you hear about the raising of anything, it will always be passed on to the consumer and fan. So anytime you see $22 million is now going to be paid to players, it's going to be passed on to the fan. Anytime you see we're going to put tariffs,
Starting point is 00:33:33 it's going to be passed on to the consumer. Anytime you say we're going to raise a tax on something, it's going to be passed on to the consumer. So just always assume it's going to be passed on the consumer. Now, will all $22 million be passed on? Probably not. I think what's going to end up happening is some of these coaches are going to see decreases in their salary,
Starting point is 00:33:51 whereas you used to pay a coach $10 million, now you may pay them $7. But yes, this will be passed on in the, fan in some way how they choose to do it, I don't know. And then I'm going to say this tomorrow. I think it's 94-87 Kentucky wins. Hope you're right. I mean, they're not going to raise the tickets to where they raise $22 million
Starting point is 00:34:12 through tickets. But I do think you got to remember probably half this money, maybe even two-thirds of this money, is going to come in because of the increase in revenue they made on this new television deal. This new television deal way up the amount of money each school gets. but there is almost certainly going to be some passing on to the favor. And the next television deal, it's going to go up even more.
Starting point is 00:34:33 Well, that one's not for another 15 years. 15 years. The SEC deal is going to stay for a long time during. Yeah, people are just going to have to be used. I mean, it's happening now. Fans are already being asked for more money than they've been asked to contribute ever, and that's not going to anywhere. Their hands are going to stay out wanting more.
Starting point is 00:34:48 I think the people who are going to feel it the most shit are the big donors. They're going to go, hey, you're already given $200,000. How about 250? I think you're going to see that. As a matter of fact, I know those conversations have been taking place. I think I said after the – what was the game? What – the first game – SEC getting in Florida. Before the Florida game, they brought the 40-50 biggest donors in the room and said,
Starting point is 00:35:15 we need money. Yeah. You already donating big money, you know, a small little hike for those people. You know, they're probably not even going to think twice about it. Because there is a amount of money you can't raise from the average. fan because they just can't pay it. You know, some of these people in the top, I don't know how much more you can ask them to pay. Starting point is 00:36:01 They've got centers in Lexington, Shelbyville, and Lawrenceburg. It's estate renovations. We'll take a break and come right back. Final segment. This is KSR. Welcome back. Final segment here, Kentucky Sports Radio. I got this little spinny thing.
Starting point is 00:36:16 I'm going to give away tickets to UK, Alabama, here in about 10 or 12 minutes. There it is, and we'll see who gets it. Now, let me give you a little. scheduling here. I will be doing the pregame show. We'll be, well, we'll all be doing it. 9.30 a.m. in the morning for the game at noon. The bar opens at 9. So if you want to come, the bar opens before the show. We're serving breakfast all morning. We have good breakfast, as Ryan always says, which is actually true. And 9.30, we'll do the pregame show. Then I will do the post game show, win or lose after the game. We are off Monday for Martin Luther King Day
Starting point is 00:36:53 and for me to not watch the inauguration. And then that night, Kentucky, or Kentucky, I wish we were playing. That night is the national championship game, Ohio State and Notre Dame. We have had a contest picking games that has people playing for $4,000. We're right now trying to finalize how many people are coming. There'll probably be a couple spots open. Be watching your social media to try to get one of the final spots to win $4,000, Drew on Monday night during the national championship at the bar.
Starting point is 00:37:25 It's always a fun atmosphere with so much at stake, and you know, you always have a little extra twists here, something at the end of the quarter, end of the half. It just – It'll come down. There'll be like four or five people. Somebody will win $4,000. Somebody will go home with nothing, and there's such tension.
Starting point is 00:37:42 I've done this for like five years, and it's always a lot of fun. Yeah, the way you do it, like Drew said, build up every – at the quarter at the half at three quarters. We eliminate people along the way. Kind of builds the excitement a little bit and anxiety leading up to the winner. Yeah, so let's go over the national championship game Monday night, since we will not be on the air to pick it between now and then. Ohio State, Notre Dame.
Starting point is 00:38:02 Any chance the plucky fighting Irish get the victory? I'm going to take Ohio State to win, but I don't know if they cover. Is it still nine points? Nine points. Man, that's a lot of points. But I'll guess if I was a betting, I bet Notre Dame to cover. I got Ohio State winning, and I got them covering. I think they roll.
Starting point is 00:38:19 Yeah, Ohio State has just felt like the team that's destined to win the title this year. Plus, they have Jack Black as their head coach. I don't know how you get against him. Yeah, I looked more. He's never looked like Jack Black, even a little bit. Yeah, when Jack Black's got the shorter beard? Never one time. First of all, Jack Black is, like, Ryan Day's in decent shape.
Starting point is 00:38:37 Jack Black's big. Ryan Day's big. Okay. You tell him that to his face. What about you? I don't want to sleep on the couch, so I'm picking Notre Dame, even though I don't really believe it, but I'm married into a Notre Dame family, and they're excited, so I go Irish.
Starting point is 00:38:53 All right, let's go through NFL games. Patrick Mahomes is at home going for three straight titles against the Texans. Who you got? No way. Taylor Swift and the Chiefs go out this early in the playoffs. Let's go Chiefs. There's no way Mahomes loses at home, yeah. I'll go Chiefs.
Starting point is 00:39:11 Yeah, Chief's going to win. I think this will be the worst game of the weekend. Commanders and Lions, Jaden Daniels goes up to Detroit. I got a lion's shirt on today. Who you got? Yep, I think Detroit gets it done. Wouldn't be surprised to see them in the Super Bowl. They've had an amazing year.
Starting point is 00:39:24 I agree. Going with the Lions, especially because the nice lady from Detroit brought us this good team. Yes. With the spread, though, there's a lot of points on this, isn't it? I'm just asking you who's winning. You don't have to do the spread. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:39:34 When we're doing just winner, yeah. Jimmy the Greek over here. I just want to know who you think is going to win the game. Detroit wins, but commanders probably cover. When did you be so into covering? Like, you gamble less than all of us. It's true. He's best punts.
Starting point is 00:39:48 Why are you doing so game? I'll be watching the game bet and punt every position. No, I'm going to take the lines, although I think it's very close. I think Jaden Daniels makes it close. Rams and the Eagles, my upset pick of the weekend. I picked the Rams when they were three and seven. I said on countdown to kickoff, the Rams are my sleeper Super Bowl team, and Myron made fun of me. If they win this week, I'll have that clip to have him eat it forever, so I'm taking the Rams to win in Philadelphia.
Starting point is 00:40:15 I'm going to go along with you. I hope you're right. I hate the Eagles. Give me anybody but them. I'm going with the Rams. I like the Rams. They may be money last week as an underdog, but Philly,
Starting point is 00:40:24 they're going to be at their most Philly in there. Oh, they're still obnoxious. That atmosphere is going to take over. Yeah, I go Philly also. Yeah, might snow during the game, apparently. Oh, wow. That's something to watch for that. Ravens and Bills, this might be the Super Bowl.
Starting point is 00:40:37 I mean, I think the Chiefs still can win because it's Patrick Mones, but this, like, Sunday night, 6 o'clock, who's not watching this? This will get an insane rating. Lamar, Josh Allen. Who you got? Game of the weekend. Give me Lamar and the Ravens on the road. Oh, you got, wow, that's be his biggest win of his life.
Starting point is 00:40:53 They're a one-point favorite, I believe. It's only going to be the biggest win of his life for a few weeks because the Ravens are my Super Bowl winner. I have the win in this one. I think the Ravens killed them during the season, so I'm going Ravens even winning on the road. Wow, listen to you all. No respect for Buffalo. Upstate New York, cold, throwing people through tables. Buffalo. Buffalo wins. I mean, I love Lamar, but I'd like to see, Buffalo win you know I think about Buffalo over the 90s got so close is Lamar your favorite ever player it's my favorite ever player play at Louisville are is it yours yeah I've never even
Starting point is 00:41:28 liked a player that played at Louisville in the pros but I love Lamar I know you're not looking to me yeah you don't like Lamar I know you know you not like any player that played at Louisville Perrin yeah I'm actually I'll put parent ahead of Lamar okay Russ Smith I really I like Russ Smith. I like the Burvin going now. He's doing a lot around Kentucky. But Lamar, no. I am picking the Ravens to win it, though.
Starting point is 00:41:52 As much as it will kill me, I want my guy, Derek Henry, to be happy. Yeah, I'll go pairing Lamar, Russ Smith. All right, let's go to Kentucky and Alabama. Kentucky just spread just came out. Kentucky's a one and a half point favorite. Kentucky, listen, when this game got on the schedule before the season started, I thought, I don't know if we're going to get Alabama. I thought Alabama would be a little bit better than they all.
Starting point is 00:42:15 I thought we would be a little bit worse than we are. Now these teams, I think, are pretty equal. It's at home. Do you like the – you like the cat's chances? I think this is going to be an absolute shootout. I think both teams score in the 90s. I want to be optimistic. I'm going to pick Kentucky, 97, 95.
Starting point is 00:42:34 Wow. So you're expecting a – Yes. A shootout. Kind of like that Florida game a couple weeks ago or last week. That Florida game, to me, is one of the highest played – One of the best played offensive games I have ever seen in college basketball, with two teams just executing play after play after play.
Starting point is 00:42:52 I don't know if we get that, but I think it'll be good. What do you think? I'm about as excited for tomorrow's game as any left on the schedule, just because the style of play, draft kings cannot make that total high enough. I am on the over. I think they're both going to be flirting with 100, and I'll say Kentucky wins a close one. Shootout.
Starting point is 00:43:08 Yeah, I'm excited to watch this game. It's going to be a great game to watch as a fan. There's no doubt about it. but I think both teams will light up the scoreboard. So I'll say Kentucky 94-91. Yeah, I wouldn't specific. I need to say 97-94. Ooh, close to what I'm here.
Starting point is 00:43:21 Yeah, and that what you just said? 97-95. 97-95. First of all, I think it's going to be, who all's going in here? I mean, hopefully you're all going if you're with the tickets, but you've got another people. I think it's going to be one of those really cool days in rough. Yeah. The game is at noon.
Starting point is 00:43:36 I wish it was a little later just so people. But at the same time, it was a great atmosphere for that 11 a.m. It was. Florida. Game is at noon. It's on ESPN. I mean, the students are going to be out there, probably some of them tonight. I think it's going to be a great atmosphere. And this crowd this year has been awesome for every game. But this is a game where they need the crowd, right? We need the fans into it. Alabama's going to have runs. You know, they're going to have an 8-0 run sometime in the game. We're going to have an 8-0 run sometime in the game. But I do think ultimately
Starting point is 00:44:11 Kentucky wins. I'm going to say, I don't think it's going to be as high as y'all. I'm going to say 9288 and gets a massive win. A game that two weeks ago I would not have picked them to win. True. I'll pick them to win this time. Yeah, because they seem to continue to learn how to play the physical ball in the SEC. They're kind of figuring it out as they go along.
Starting point is 00:44:28 That's why I think their best basketball is even yet to come. Thank you the folks here at Bespoke Inspirates. Club Blue and I'll host it as two weeks in a row. So give them a round of applause. I'll be on the pre-game show 9 a.m. tomorrow from 930. KS Bar opens at 9 a.m. No show on Monday.
Starting point is 00:44:46 We're running a best up from like two years ago. It would be interesting to see what we said two years ago about the UK basketball team. We'll see you later.
