We're going to give some UK tickets away at the end of the show. Also, KS. Bar gift cards. So a lot of good prizes here before the weekend.
Starting point is 00:01:13 Kentucky and Vandy tomorrow, 2.30. Pre-game show will start at noon. So pre-game show will start at noon. We'll be showing the game at the bar tomorrow, obviously, and it is a big one. And then, of course, Sunday is the AFC and the NFC. and the NFC championship games. One person writes, Matt, your prediction about the cost of the eggs was exceptional that it is.
Starting point is 00:01:40 I'm big on puns. There's a lot of this. It's egregious that these things are rising at this thing, that these costs. What do you think about that, Shannon? I think it's too. You hate puns, don't you? No, I like them when they're good, but that's just really bad. Why?
Starting point is 00:01:54 It uses the word in the thing, exceptional? It's not that funny. All right. You just have a hard, hard time. All right, let's go over really quick. The AFC, NFC Championship. Start with the NFC. Is it 3 o'clock on Sunday? You got the commanders and the Eagles. Jaden Daniels trying to become, what is it?
Starting point is 00:02:15 Only the third quarterback ever to take his team to the third rookie quarterback ever to make his team fourth. To take his team to Super Bowl? What do you think? And they got that huge win last weekend, winning at, Detroit, a team I thought was Super Bowl bound for sure. Now they got to go to at Philly. It's going to be tough to win that one. I'm going to take Philly.
Starting point is 00:02:34 I'm a bet on the commanders, because I think either, I think it's a toss-up, and the commanders are getting six and a half points. So if it's a toss-up and I get six and a half, I'm going to take it. I'm going to pick the Eagles, Drew, but I think the commanders cover. What about you? Now, I was surprised to see that line. I'm doing the same thing. I just, I think the Eagles have the edge.
Starting point is 00:02:51 They have Sequin Barclay. They have the crowd. I think they'll be the one moving forward. but it's been amazing what Daniels and Washington have done. Washington's right. Do you feel this at all? I do, because they were the same color as my high school, Burgundy and gold, Pike Central Chargers.
Starting point is 00:03:06 So I kind of grew up most of my youth as a Redskins fan. But he's asking you, do you feel like you feel like you don't seem excited that your team is potentially playing for the Super Bowl? I didn't realize it was six and a half. That's a lot of points. But that's still not answering the question. Are you excited about the fact that your team is playing for the Super Bowl? Super excited. They haven't been there for, in like, what, 30 years. It's been forever since they've been this far.
Starting point is 00:03:30 But you don't sound excited. Well, I kind of dumped the Redskins for the Colts when the Colts moved to Indianapolis. So that was the answer I was looking for. It's the commanders and you're no longer a fan, is the answer. True. That's where I was trying to get out. All right. So we got there. It just took a while. Just like with the eggs. Okay, what about you? Who you got? I would pull for any team over the Eagles. I'm going to go with the commanders. Let's go Washington. Hopefully they make the Super Bowl.
Starting point is 00:03:55 I would love to actually see them win the Super Bowl. Jay and Daniels, this might be the best performance by a rookie quarterback ever. Because if you go look at the other guys that have been in the Super Bowl, they were on teams where the rest of the team was really good. Like Joe Flacco, but like the Ravens were stacked everywhere else. You had brought Purdy. The rest of the 49ers were stacked. This may be the first time that the quarterback is maybe the reason a rookie team is God.
Starting point is 00:04:23 So, you know, you got the. the Bills against the Chiefs, Mahomes, Allen. Will Josh Allen get over the hump, Shannon, and finally get to a Super Bowl and take down the beast of the Kansas City Chiefs? I'm hoping so, but I know everybody wants to see Taylor Swift at the Super Bowl, so I think that's probably what's going to end up happening, unfortunately. But Bills and commanders, that would be a very 90s Super Bowl, wouldn't it? It would.
Starting point is 00:04:48 It would. It would be kind of weird, too. I don't think it feels like that would be the Super Bowl. But so you're taking... I'm going to take the... Chiefs. They're probably going to win. I'm rooting for the bills really hard, but you can't pick against Kansas City in Kansas City. I mean, I'm not someone that really thinks there's a jinx going on, but they do happen to win
Starting point is 00:05:07 every game, every close game at home, and I think that will continue again this time. Yeah, you're not going to beat Mahomes in Kansas City in the championship game. Burrow did it. It's true. It's true. Burrow did it once, but you don't think so? No, Chiefs. This stat about Kansas City is amazing.
Starting point is 00:05:23 They have been to seven straight AFC championship games. Seven straight. That is crazy. Mahomes is going to retire likely as the best quarterback of all time. It's either going to be him or Brady when his career is over. I just, and you know, I won't bet this game because I don't bet against Brady, or excuse me, against Mahomes. But it just kind of feels like maybe this is where they get him. But I'm still going to pick this.
Starting point is 00:05:50 Because, you know, you can't go against the dude that just, doesn't lose. Like they don't lose and then they're at home and all that. They just, they don't lose. We're going to watch it. It's going to get late in the game. Buffalo is going to be up three. And on third and 17, he's going to find Travis Kelsey in the middle field. He's going to turn and run 20 yards. And they're going to score a game winning touchdown late in the fourth. Travis Kelsey could be like 65 years old walking with a cane. And I would still think he would get open on the possession that matters. He gets open every single time. I will say in my lifetime, if you're about athletes who in the moment in a clutch moment, I have more confidence they're going to come through.
Starting point is 00:06:31 For me, Jordan, Tiger, Mahomes. If you're just talking about I know they're going to make the play. Ryan, I feel like those are the three of my life. And that's what I'm saying, man. You got him at home. He just finds a way to win. You just can't beat that guy. And again, a game has this much magnitude. 859-28027. Caleb Wilson decided last night. at 1.20 in the morning. They put him on the set at 1.20 a.m. Prime time, baby. Prime time.
Starting point is 00:07:01 And he opened up his jacket, picked Carolina. Kenny Smith goes crazy. Top 10 recruit. This was going to be, if we got him, the best player in our class. Were you disappointed, Drew, that he picked North Carolina? We knew it was probably coming, but were you still disappointed? Not in the moment. At that point, I was expecting it.
Starting point is 00:07:20 But I am disappointed overall because, you know, early in the football, season is when Caden Lewis committed and he and Caleb Wilson were very much on Twitter back and forth, you know, come commit here. And it looked like, and adding Jasper Johnson, it looked like you had a little freshman trio that was very close. And it sounded like even back then, it was all but done behind the scenes. So you'd go a couple months, just assuming he's going to be a part of next year's team. And Carolina in the end wins out. It's different now than it was with Cal just because with the portal and the way Pope recruits, it doesn't feel like the end of the world, but I'm not going to act like I'm not disappointed. I really wanted him
Starting point is 00:07:53 be a part of the team. But I am confident that there's a portal player or something along in the line that could still be a good fit. If this were five years ago, I'd be devastated. Like if this were five years ago, I would think this is a huge hit for Pope. Because I think freshman one and done recruiting was massive back then. And I think especially in the Cal area, you had to get the elite guys. We learned that if he didn't get a top guy, it wasn't happening. Important. I'm not going to act like it. It's not important because I still want to see Pope go and get a top 10 dude because I think if you're going to get freshmen to win you titles, you still got to have a top 10 dude. But now you can win titles without having the freshman top 10 dude
Starting point is 00:08:32 because you can get juniors and seniors, et cetera. So, I mean, we'll use that money somewhere else. I think it means he's going to have to go, he's going to have to go get the best one or two or three, like one of those guys in the portal. So it's disappointing, but it's not, it's not crippling. It is interesting to me, though, Ryan. everyone at UK from September to about mid-January thought he was coming. And then it kind of changed in the last week or two. And a lot of people think it changed because of NIL. And do you know who's in charge of NIL at North Carolina?
Starting point is 00:09:10 Is it T.J. Beisner, who I hired from Kodak at Florida. And I say that to say, you just never know how life is going to go. T.J. Beisner, who started on the KSR blog as a volunteer writer, is now in charge of NIL at North Carolina and steals a recruit from Kentucky. And I'm not mad at him at all. Kudos to him, but what a bizarre world that is, right? When you put it like that, that is kind of crazy that, you know, if it comes down to T.J., one of our boys, now stealing one of our guys we really wanted.
Starting point is 00:09:49 So now is T.J. a villain? We put him on the – we like him. I mean, he's doing his job. I mean, he's doing his job. I can't, TJ left because he couldn't deal with cow anymore, right? So, like, that's, you know? I'm sure if you were, if TJ, TJ'd love to be here working for Pope. Like, it just, that's the way it goes sometimes, Shannon.
Starting point is 00:10:11 But kind of crazy that would happen. But it does stink losing. I mean, he's an elite talent. Yeah, imagine, though, being a lifelong Kentucky fan. And then your job goes against your heart. And you've got to recruit against Kentucky. I mean, you've got to do your job, but that's, it's going to be tough. If you would have told me that many years ago that the dude that was on the group chat with me and Drew going,
Starting point is 00:10:34 do we post this picture or not about so-and-so, that that dude would be the guy that takes a recruit from Kentucky. Like, Drew, it's just so wild to me. I mean, you'd be like you one day. I wouldn't do that. I wouldn't do that. And stealing a recruit. Like, that's crazy. I think he owes us a few more news and views tonight.
Starting point is 00:10:55 I'm watching BTI. I mean, we've got to keep an eye on BTI. He can try to bring down Kentucky, too. Tyler Thompson, if you go to Auburn, Tyler, I'm going to know. I'm going to know what's happening. Who's next? Adam is up next. Adam, go ahead, Adam.
Starting point is 00:11:09 Hey, guys, the thing about Cal, and I think you all discussed before, it's not just that the losses start piling up. The caller earlier saying he hates Cal, I don't hate Cal. I really appreciate bringing us a championship. He had one of the greatest runs in school history. But when it started talking down to fans and acting like we're idiots that we don't know basketball and that we don't know what we're talking about,
Starting point is 00:11:36 that's when I think it really started turning south. Oh, I think that's right. I think for most fans, that was a big thing. You know, look, it's like when you get, again, I wasn't married. So I'll go to you, Ryan, for this. Appreciate the call. You know, sometimes a trait that a person has when you start dating, you find cute. And after a while, that same trait, the person may not even be doing anything differently. But then it just starts to get on your nerves.
Starting point is 00:12:08 I mean, like, you can say, oh, when you were kind of a little bratty, that was fun at first. And then after like eight years of it, you go, I don't know if I want to hear that anymore, right? I think a lot of the way Cal was, I think he got worse, but then also we just, like, you just get, you can't only hear that I haven't seen him so many times till you want to know, why haven't you seen him? I feel like that that's a lot of our kind of war thin. When Cal was talking down to us, it was okay when he was winning.
Starting point is 00:12:39 Then he started talking down to us and they weren't winning as much and kind of struggling. That's more like, okay, look, dude, you know, we put up with it when we were winning championships and going to the final four. He never changed his tone. He kept that same attitude throughout his, career even when he was losing. No, I think there's a lot of truth to that. Like, you can be arrogant when you're winning. Yes. Like Bobby Knight showed that. Like Bobby Knight could do whatever he
Starting point is 00:13:01 want when he was winning and then the moment he started losing, people look at it differently. Yep. I mean, and we're guilty of receiving it, some like, listen to him some ways. I mean, when you go out and beat a team by 20 and say, I don't know when our next game is, you go, well, he's one by 20. Maybe you don't need to know when the game is. But when you're at Arkansas, and you're 0.5 and you say, I don't know when the next game is, you're getting a completely different reaction. Yeah. 859, 280, 27.
Starting point is 00:13:24 Who's next? Darrell is up next. Darrell, go ahead, Darrell. Yeah. Hold on you, guys. Quick football comment, then if asked a ball question, you're talking about
Starting point is 00:13:36 with the quarterbacks getting to the Super Bowl. You left out Dan Marino from 1983, who I think was... I think he made this... Didn't he make the Super Bowl, though, in his second year,
Starting point is 00:13:48 not his first year? I think he did. you might be right you might be right i'd have to look back a whole bunch of us from henderson are going down to the game tomorrow uh probably about a dozen of us so there is going to be a big western kentucky contingent down there or any of you guys going to the game i don't think we are um yeah i don't think any of us are are you guys uh you planning on being loud because we're going to have to out shout those nerds uh we get Pretty loud, yes.
Starting point is 00:14:22 Okay, good. All right. We get pretty loud. Well, you go to, you give him hell. I appreciate the call. Both coaches are kind of nerds, too. Vandies, Mark Biont is. We know Mark Pope is.
Starting point is 00:14:34 You think Mark Pope's a nerd? We've called him a nerd. Oh, yeah. You've called him a nerd. You know he's a nerd. Oh, pull the tape, Rick. I would never call Mark. What are you talking about?
Starting point is 00:14:43 What are you talking about? Extra nerdy. There's a difference. There's a difference between nerd and like dork. Okay. And then there's a, please elaborate. There's nerd, there's dork, and there's geek. And what's the difference?
Starting point is 00:14:56 Well, if I, he's an expert on the matter of. Yeah, no, I think Mark Pope, you're probably right. Mark Pope is a nerd. A nerd is somebody smart. Diggs into the numbers. Yeah, but it's still able to whatever. A dork is somebody with like no social skills, like can't really talk. And then a geek is somebody into like fantasy games.
Starting point is 00:15:19 and dungeons and dragons and that kind of stuff. So I think there's nerd, then there's dork, and there's geek. So nerd's a compliment, actually. It is to me. Yeah, now some people, though, don't like to read and don't like numbers, and so they may not think so. But I think you're right. Mark Pope's a nerd.
Starting point is 00:15:36 What a flip. What a flip. You did flip them. You did flip them. He said I never said that. You know what? By the end, I agreed with you. You've been showing love to God's fan.
Starting point is 00:15:48 Not God's fan. God's pantry food bank. They are getting close to their goal of a million meals by Valentine's Day for that throughout Kentucky. It's great. We have given a total now of 246 meals from the Kentucky fan base. That's awesome. That's awesome. Or excuse me, 246 donations and then think about how many meals that is.
Starting point is 00:16:10 That's pretty amazing. So the goal is to donate Mark Pope's number of $41 by Valentine's Day to continue increasing the amount of meals so they can get their million gold by Valentine's Day. Go to God's pantry.org slash KSR. Just so you know, every time I read this ad, I do another $41. I hope you all will to. God's pantry, if you can, if you're able, god's pantry. dot org slash KSR for meals for folks in Kentucky. Great organization. We'll take a break and be right back. This is Kentucky Sports Radio. This linebacker walks up to me, he goes,
Starting point is 00:17:50 hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Time out. Quarterback on office blue 42. Hey, ref, my mama want you to wave at her. What? Where's she at? Hey, Miss Parker.
Starting point is 00:18:09 Listen to the Clifford show on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Starting point is 00:19:21 Somebody! Please! But there's so much more to me than me. I'm an actor. I'm a comedian. And recently, I've become quite the helper myself. And on my new podcast, Hope from a Hypocrite, I'll be changing lives, helping people in need with my sage advice and thoughtful solutions. Sike!
Starting point is 00:19:40 I'm a comedian. I'm not qualified to give good advice. Join me and my comedian friends as we riff rant recommend some of the most legally dubious advice known to man. If I'm calling you, even if you're on your phone, let it ring twice. One ring is too scary.

Listen to Help from Hypocrite as part of the Mike Cultura podcast network available on the IHart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:20:16 Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio here live at Don Franklin Hyundai. Giving away some tickets at the end of the show here on a cold day before the weekend. Katzen Vandy 230. Apparently the UK Blue Coats are taking a busload of people to the game tomorrow. So that's good there. Maybe there'll be more Kentucky fans than we even realize there. Like you said earlier, I think you said you may be predicted 6040 Kentucky to Vandy fans. That may be even a big number of that.
Starting point is 00:20:41 I'd say 6040, Vandy, Kentucky. I said, me, if he still has season ticket holders and stuff that would go. And then the student section would be... Student sex is always pretty rowdy. They got kind of a big student section, too. And they have a reason to actually show up because the team's decent for the first time in six, seven, eight years. Yeah. One person writes, Matt, take the four of you.
Starting point is 00:21:02 If you had to give one of you nerd, one of you dork, and one of you geek, how would you do it? I'd say I'm probably the nerd, because I read a ton. I'm a dork. I was going to say that. You just volunteered. Yeah, that's fair. Really? See, I thought you were going to fight me on that.
Starting point is 00:21:18 No, out of the three choices, I think I'm probably a dork. Yeah, and then I would probably say Shannon's the geek because of wrestling, right? Like, wrestling's kind of a geeky. I don't really think Shannon's. It's very athletic. What do you mean, geeky? I mean, it's a little. I mean, obviously I love it, too, but you would grant you it's a little geeky for you to put those little tights on and go.
Starting point is 00:21:38 Absolutely not. No. The geeks are the one who watched that. So here's your geeks right here in the front row. Oh, look at that. What a deal, sir. For a minute. First of all, Shannon, those are our paying customers.
Starting point is 00:21:53 What do they pay and tell? No, I mean, I'm saying that. But the people who come to OVW and pay, those are our paying customers. You can't call them geeks. Have you not been to an OBW show? I do it on an open mic every week. I understand. I'm just saying, I don't know if that's the best.
Starting point is 00:22:09 I'm just saying, like, Dungeons and Dragons, the Dragons aren't the geeks. It's the people who play Dungeons and a dragon. Oh, so you're a dragon? No. You're saying you're the toy. I'm the toy. You're the toy the geeks play with. Okay.
Starting point is 00:22:23 I don't know if that's better or worse if you're the toy that the geeks play with. Shannon, I was on Instagram last night. Yes. And I saw, I was like looking at the story and your face came up and you were holding up this camera. I don't know if anybody saw this. You were holding the camera in your face and you were like, who would be kidnapped by a night agent. If the night agent would kidnap you, write me and tell me about it.
Starting point is 00:22:51 And I was like, what are you talking about? I don't think that was the actual verbiage. Yeah, so this was an endorsement through Netflix with the show called The Night Agent. Season 2 is out. So Netflix got you to endorse the night agent by asking people if they would be kidnapped by a night agent? You have to go to the IHeart Radio app. We're giving away $5,000 to, or, yeah, $5,000, but $1,000 to five lucky people. And you have to go on to the Iheart radio app.
Starting point is 00:23:20 You click the microphone button and then you record how the night agent can rescue you. That doesn't sound geeky at all. You know what? They pay me. They pay me to say that. Hey, they pay me to say that. That does not sound geeky. To be clear.
Starting point is 00:23:34 Please write me and tell me how the night agent will rescue you. You're not going, you're not writing me. You're doing it on the Iheart radio. radio app. And to be fair, I've never seen the night age. I don't know if you should admit that. I've heard that's a good show, actually, but sees, uh, it's on my list. I did think it was funny because it came up as an ad. It wasn't on your story. It was just an ad. Shannon the dude popped up on my, uh, story. 859, 2807. Cup open lines. Who's next? Nate is up next. Nate. Go ahead, Nate.
Starting point is 00:24:04 Yeah, hey, man, the gang. How's it going? Doing good. So this, uh, uh, this call, I'm a little but this Cal documentary got me thinking. With football, I think no matter what happens in spring, and I know what we're like, let's win now. But you know what comes up in the summertime? What?
Starting point is 00:24:30 That Netflix documentary. Yeah, I mean, we've had a bad history with documentaries at this school. I mean, remember, it was ESPN followed us in 2013, the year we went to the NIT, that was the year. They had that Facebook documentary happening the year, and then the COVID season cut it off right in the middle of it. So now, you know, Netflix, for people who don't realize,
Starting point is 00:24:57 it's not just Kentucky that the documentary is about. Eight teams in the SEC each gave access to Netflix. Each episode, as I understand it, will be about one of those teams. So each team gets an episode. the problem is that the Kentucky episode is the South Carolina game and the Tennessee game. So I think it's the Louisville game. It's the Louisville game? I think it's even worse.
Starting point is 00:25:23 Oh, that's even worse. Oh, no. I thought it was a Tennessee game. All right? You agreed, right? Yeah, I think it's Louisville. It's the South Carolina game and the Louisville game. Regardless, they could.
Starting point is 00:25:32 So, yeah, so we're going to be the tragic episode, clearly, of the group. So, yeah, that's not going to be fun. Ryan to watch when that comes out because that was those were maybe the two worst games of the year actually i was just talking to josiah last night about that Louisville game it was really remember it was really cold we were getting beat we left at halftime because that was a butt kick and they gave us that day so you excited to rewatch it drew on netflix this summer i didn't see 4k cameras at the concession stand when gerald mincey was there but i hope they were nearby yeah i mean it's not going to be That's going to be bad publicity.
Starting point is 00:26:09 And it comes out in August right before the season starts. And that's South Carolina game. We were so excited. They were 13-point favorite. I mean, it's just going to show the fall. I'm sure we're going to see the joy leading into it, and we're going to destroy this team into just the season going into what it was. Those shows exist to do one thing.
Starting point is 00:26:27 Two things. Show you joy and show you pain. I don't know who they're using for joy. I'm sure there'll be teams. But when you consider the two games, got with us, we're going to be the episode of pain. We're the pain. We are the pain without question. And that is going to be tough just from a morale standpoint to have come out right before the new season hits. Just unfortunate timing, that's the risk you take when you do those. We'll take a break
Starting point is 00:26:53 and be right back. This is KSR. Welcome back to Tegu Sports Radio here at Don Franklin, whatever your needs may be. Don Franklin is here with our team of experts to help you find the perfect vehicle to match your budget and lifestyle. Thank you from Don Franklin. auto.com. Speaking of thank you, as I want to thank the KSR listening audience. We have had over the course of January, and we're not even to the end of the month, but over the course of January, probably our highest consistent podcast listening numbers since we've been doing this. I mean, so thank you all very much. I mean, you know, there'll be individual days throughout history when something happens and everybody, but if you're just talking show to show
Starting point is 00:27:36 consistently listening, without question. in our biggest numbers in January, but even if you throw in like March in the NCAA tournament runs and football, I can't remember a time. I mean, we are consistently in the top 25 podcast episodes in America and like the others are all the Kelsey brothers, pardon my take, Bill Simmons. I mean, it's crazy. So, Ryan, a big thank you to the fans. I had a conversation with a company yesterday about an advertisement thing, and the person said.
Starting point is 00:28:09 there is no local radio show in the country that does what you all do. And I really appreciate the fans who help make that happen. You think a lot of it is, you know, the excitement about the basketball team? Yeah, I think so. Filling Rupp Arena, our shows. You know, it's just we finally got our team back and we're excited about it. I mean, honestly, we had gotten to the point. So, like, when I started the show in 2010, we would see huge spikes every first.
Starting point is 00:28:39 February of March, where obviously for the NCAA tournament, and then it would kind of dip a little bit in April. But then, starting about 2017, it stayed pretty consistent, but you didn't get the March spikes, not surprisingly, because we weren't very good, to be honest with you. Now, like, we started seeing a spike in November, really, and it is stayed through the whole time. And there's no doubt. Mark Pope Drew is a huge part of that. There's just so much. more energy around everything. Yeah, we can't even fill it just with feedback from the show, seeing people at remotes, but also to the point about the fan excitement, it just makes me more excited about getting
Starting point is 00:29:19 to March. I mean, we're right around the corner. I'm hoping multiple weekends in the NCAA, multiple days in Nashville. That's just more fun shows and more fun for us to have together as we follow this journey. I think the last four years has really worn on the fan base. And to your point, Nashville, I think this year is going to be maybe crazier than ever with the excitement that we have. Plus you add in two more teams in the SEC.
Starting point is 00:29:40 So let me tell you real quick. This is a little dilemma I have because I have to do this this weekend. So, you know, I have that little nerd fellowship that we've talked about. Yeah, nerd, not geek fellowship in Aspen. So we are going to the Hague in Netherlands. And the flight is the event starts the Monday of the national championship game. Okay. We are supposed to leave, fly out from New York, all of us, Saturday night of the Final Four.
Starting point is 00:30:17 So I had to talk to him, and I was like, look, you understand if Kentucky were in the Final Four, like, I can't just pick up and go to the Netherlands, right? Like, I just can't do that. And they said, well, you agreed to be part. of this so I gave him a compromise which was all right if we make the final four I'm going to the final four if Kentucky was to be in the final four because it's in San Antonio right I'm going then I'll fly on Sunday fly all night and I would just have to miss the national championship so I mean there's nothing I can do about it but I was like I'm not going to miss the final four
Starting point is 00:31:05 if we're in it I'm not I'm going there been to San Antonio is like the biggest city in America I've never been to. I'm like, I'm going. So, you know, now with that said, if I had to get, if they made the national championship game and I had to get on the plane that Sunday, that would break my heart. But, you know, what a great position to be in if that was what happened. But anyway, but the fact that that's even a theoretical thought is an exciting place to be, right. You would have to take your equipment and join us.
Starting point is 00:31:36 No, no, I would do the show. I said to him, I was like, I'll come, but I'm doing my show. You have to. Like, you know, from the Hague. Hey, everybody at the War Crimes Tribunal, scoot over. KSR is happening right here right now. I hope you run into that problem. It's unfortunate you would have to make that decision,
Starting point is 00:31:56 but I hope it comes to that for you and for everyone else that you're in that situation. That would be great for everybody. All right, draft kings, if you can bet $5, you can win $250 from draft kings. Or $200, excuse me. You can bet the championship. championship games tonight or Sunday everything you want from draft kings you all know about it download the app use my promo code kSr bet five get $200 let's go over the SEC games let's pick them I'll start with you Shannon there's some good ones this weekend Mississippi State
Starting point is 00:32:22 ranked 15th at South Carolina South Carolina should have beaten Florida this week and let it fall do they get Mississippi State South Carolina should have had a couple of SEC wins but they're over I'm going to go Mississippi State keeps them that way they went on the road Mississippi State. I think playing Florida close, we're only hurt South Carolina in this game. A little bit of a hangover. Yeah, South Carolina, I think had their heart ripped down against Florida the other night, so I'm going to Mississippi State with a win on the road. Yeah, that's the thing.
Starting point is 00:32:47 If they beat in Florida, I actually think they'd win this game. But they lost, and so I'm going to take Mississippi State. Texas A&M is at Texas. Big rivalry. They played it just a couple of weeks ago, and A&M won there. Texas is like two and four in the conference, so they need this one. Do they win at home? Yeah, Texas has struggled adapting to SEC law.
Starting point is 00:33:07 I think Texas A&M is the better team. They went on the road, another road win. I'm going to agree. I think A&M gets them. A&M's got their stud back, too, so I'm going to take A&M to win that game. I'm going to take Texas at home. They need this one. They're going to be on the bubble later in the year.
Starting point is 00:33:20 If they don't get it, I think they get this game. George is at Florida. Any chance Georgia pulls the ups of Florida? It does not look like Florida in the last couple weeks. Yeah, there's a chance, but I think I'm going to give the edge to the home team, in which case is Florida, so I'll say Florida. Yeah, Florida's had some scares and some bad performances lately. but I still think they're a very good team.
Starting point is 00:33:38 They'll win this one. The Mike White Bowl, former team current team. That's right. I didn't think about that. Yeah. So I'm going to say, I'm going to have Georgia pulling the upset. Oh, wow. Okay, I'm going to take Florida.
Starting point is 00:33:47 Who would have thought at the beginning of the year this is a game with two ranked teams who are at the top of the SEC? Old Miss at Missouri. Who would have ever believed that's a ranked matchup? Who you got? That's going to be a good one. I think I'm going to give Old Miss the win here. Another, again, that's three road teams that I've picked. It's tough to win on the road in the SEC.
Starting point is 00:34:06 but I think Ole Miss is the better team. I'm going to say Missouri continues their impressive turnaround from a year ago, and they went another one at home, staying hot in the league. Dude, I think we got to admit Missouri's pretty daggone good, and they got a great coach, so I'm going to go Missouri. Missouri, for all the great talk about what Pope's done, Pat Kelsey's done, all these. Missouri has the same coach that went 0-18 last year.
Starting point is 00:34:30 Like, this is not even a new coach. He went 0-18 in conference, and now they're good. That's a pretty amazing turnaround for a coach to be able to do. For me, if he stays like this, he's the SEC coach of the year. I mean, anybody who's able to do that. With that said, they've been getting great crowds at their games. They've been into it. I'm going to take Missouri to win at home.
Starting point is 00:34:52 We all think Alabama wins at home against DLSU. So what about the big one? Tennessee at Auburn in Auburn, no Johnny Broome. I think Auburn wins. I mean, Tennessee has been slipping. They got blown out at Florida, lost to Vandy. I think Auburn wins this one. I'm going Auburn, too.
Starting point is 00:35:11 I mean, that was a big loss, but they still got a great team, and that venue will be on fire. They're very excited down there. They got game day, too. Game day is there. That's my favorite place in the SEC outside of Rupp. I think they'll be ready for them. Yeah, Auburn's good even without Broom,
Starting point is 00:35:23 and they can score a lot of points. Tennessee kind of stroking offensively, so I think Auburn wins and wins big. Honestly, Auburn wins this game. They're winning the SEC. I mean, like, as hard as the SEC is, if Auburn, their schedule is kind of packed right in here, they play us. Like, they win this game.
Starting point is 00:35:41 They can probably drop two or three conference games and still win. This is the kind of game Rick Barnes wins, though, right? Like, this is the kind. He wins on the road in tough environments. They sometimes drop them at home or to Vandy. I actually think Tennessee pulls the upset and gets the win. Wow. At Auburn.
Starting point is 00:36:00 Who's next? Aaron is up next. Aaron. Go ahead, Aaron. Hey, Matt, this is Darren. Today's my 60th birthday, and I might get out of my holler in Lick. Thank you. I might get out of my holler in Litch, Kentucky, and head up to your restaurant.
Starting point is 00:36:18 Oh, yeah, you're living in the Holler in Lynch. That's right. So you're deep in eastern Kentucky. Yep, I'm deep in eastern Kentucky. I've lived in Lynch, Kentucky all my life, and I'm going to head up to Lexington to your restaurant, and I'm going to get me nice of me. Oh, that's nice. I want to know what you have that I can get.
Starting point is 00:36:40 Do you have a fried chicken dinner with gravy on the tater? See, you had me for a minute. I'm not going to lie to you. Yes, well, you should always get the wings, but we have fried chicken if you want it. And you had me. I'm not going to lie to you, because we do have a caller from Lynch,
Starting point is 00:36:58 and I thought it was him. Is there a link blade? Yeah, that's what I was getting out of it. See, I didn't. But we do have a caller from Lynch. And so I thought that was... Uh-huh. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:09 Dangerous. We'll take a break. Be right back here at Dodd Franklin. This is Kentucky Sports Radio. He got fun. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending.

And I'll give you one more price here, Shannon, GMC 24-24 GMC-C- Canyon Elevation, Rear-Wil Drive. $37,181. $81. I'll tell you what, Drew's been very gracious.
Starting point is 00:41:12 I'll throw in the $1. Okay, well, that's very nice of you. If anybody buys that car. So you could get up to $5 in discounts from Shannon or Drew if you get the vehicle. One person writes, Matt, Trump is letting all the files go from the JFK assassination. Are you excited? What do you think of what's come out? Has anything come out?
Starting point is 00:41:33 I don't think so. Not yet. Yeah. I think we're going to end up finding out it. It's like what we thought it was. Well, it's just not as cool as people think. And then they'll go, well, then they're not really showing it. Like, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:41:44 Like, people like you, they're a conspiracy theorist. Nothing can stop a conspiracy theory. Because when you give people the truth, they just don't believe it's the truth. And they just assume they're so like. So what's the conspiracy on the JFK? Like, who shot them? I mean, there are a million conspiracies, right? There's like that it was the CIA, it was the Russians, it was the Cubans.
Starting point is 00:42:04 I mean, basically anything. The mafia, basically anything that it was not Lee Harvey Oswald. So when this comes out, we should know a definitive answer? I mean, in theory. That's what I'm saying is, all right, let's say you believe in a conspiracy theory. And then the government says, here's the real truth. And people still won't believe. I mean, like, when you want to believe a conspiracy theory, you're just going to believe it.
Starting point is 00:42:30 People are going to believe what they want to believe. So if you're one of these people who doesn't believe the government, then I don't know why when the government releases information. information that's going to make you believe. We have pictures of a man on the moon and people say that's not known. People don't believe it. The government give you everything they want about a man on the moon and there'll still be people, rest in peace, Jared Lorenzo, they'll say the man on the moon was not real.
Starting point is 00:42:46 Like, there's nothing you can do for that. There's people that are going to see these documents and think the government changed them to still hide secrets and things. There's no way around it. Yeah. I mean, so is it interesting? Yeah, sure. I mean, I'm sure there'll be something that comes out that's interesting, but I don't know
Starting point is 00:43:03 that it'll change anything. I'll tell you what's going to come out of it. We're going to have a lot of experts. There's going to be thousands of experts on social media. Get ready. Everyone that has any of those accounts is going to know everything that happened. I'm amazed how smart people have become in recent years that I didn't realize, cared about things as much as, I mean, people have become really smart.
Starting point is 00:43:25 Like, there are people I love them. There are people I went to school with who I never saw open a book, and now they are smart. And I really appreciate that of what they've been able to accomplish. Skyline announced they are putting out, they are combining with graders to put out Skyline ice cream. Three-way ice cream? I don't know. Now, let me just say, I love Skyline.
Starting point is 00:43:49 I mean, I love Skyline. I'm like at the head of the line of fandom, and I really like Grater's ice cream. But I don't know if I think those two things, Ryan, would go well together. I'm not sure that those are two great tastes that would go great together. This is gross. I mean this is nasty. Well, it doesn't mean they're mixing it together, does it? Yes. I mean, it's a skyline flavor. Yeah. It's a flavor of ice cream.
Starting point is 00:44:14 Chili-flavored ice cream? Yeah, it's a flavor of ice cream. Would you put a big hunk of ice cream in your bowl of chili and then eat that? No, it's gross. It's nasty. I can't wait to eat it. I'm eating it. Name one bad graders flavor. Thank you. It will be delicious. Yeah, I mean, they said it'll be like a cinnamon spice. So if I told you cinnamon spice ice cream, you might be like, well, that sounds good.
Starting point is 00:44:37 There's not going to be noodles and raw onions in it. It's a flavor of ice cream on top. Yeah, I don't know. I'm getting it. I mean, I'm going to try it, but. As long as they throw in the oyster crackers, that makes it for me. Hot sauce? Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:44:49 If they put the hot sauce. Now, would you be there on Valentine's Day this year? You went last year, right? Valentine's Day is what, a Friday night? Yeah. I was going to say the February 14th. Yeah, probably the night of the week. It's probably going to be Friday night.
Starting point is 00:45:01 Yeah. White tablecloth. Good chance. solid good chance I'll be there. Who's up next? Dalton is up next. Dalton, go ahead, Dalton. It was embarrassing that year when it was all couples and me sitting there.
Starting point is 00:45:11 I'm not going to lie. Dolpherson for them, really. Hey, appreciate taking your call. I love it when all four y'all are on location. It's a lot better show and it makes me forget that Rick's going to answer the phone and I get the wine and dine. Wow, how about that, Rick? I had a lot of points.
Starting point is 00:45:31 Rick's busy. Go ahead, sir. No, yeah, let the man work. He's cooking. I know a lot of things say, but I'm going to bring it down to two because you've made you think of your thing. First thing is the draft kings, you're missing a golden opportunity to throw some love towards Tyler children. And drafting, the crowns all yorne. That's actually funny.
Starting point is 00:45:54 I enjoyed that, even if nobody else said, well, one person did, but go ahead. And then I have an unpopular opinion. You totally changed my call. Skyline. I've only had it once. And just like Drew is not going to watch, or Shannon's not going to watch and hate Star Wars. Skyline is the worst. It tastes like white trash Christmas.
Starting point is 00:46:13 If you open a trailer door on Christmas morning and smell that's what skyline. I think white trash Christmas would be awesome, actually. What are you talking about? I appreciate the call. Like who wouldn't I, who wouldn't want to be around the food? First of all, Scott, I don't want to hear any skylights later. I just don't know about the ice cream. Who's next?
Starting point is 00:46:30 Otis is up next. Otis. How are you, Otis? Take a breath. Oh, here we go. I'm doing great. How about yourself, gentlemen? All right, Otis, ready?
Starting point is 00:46:37 I've turned on the engine. Go for it. I ain't going to do all that. I was just going to say I'm proud of Mark Pope on what he's doing. I'm proud of Stoops, that's doing a hell of a job. One thing, I want to say, great thing. We didn't get that Caleb Williams. Sometimes it's a gift and the curse, and that was a blessing.
Starting point is 00:46:52 He may demand him more time and demanded more money, and we could use that money and resources toward other players that want to be here. We don't want no player that's offensive. We want a player that's that want to be here, like the rest of the player that's here. Sometimes you get chaos off and it works. And this year, I think Pope is going to get the players that want to be. here as you got the players now, and we're going to be great things. Go Blue and everything's going to be all right.
Starting point is 00:47:10 Don't cry. There we go. Good call. Well, it's Caleb Wilson, not Williams, but otherwise I thought that was true. Do you think in the end, in today's college basketball, you're better off not getting a guy you pay $2 million to and using it elsewhere, or do you still think you would have wanted him if that ends up happening? I think it varies with Kentucky, though.
Starting point is 00:47:34 we've seen Mark Pope likes a very specific person for each ball in the court. He's got his roles he wants. I trust he'll be able to find something. I really wanted Wilson just for the recruiting win, and he's going to be very good. But, you know, times have changed, and if you lose your big target in high school, it's not the end of the world. There's a lot of other options. One thing I heard with him is he really liked how North Carolina kind of said, you're going to be the guy.
Starting point is 00:47:56 I mean, we can't hear and talk about how we love all these dudes that sit here and say they play for the front, and I'm not trying to make him sound like he has a bad attitude. But if that's one of the things he really liked about Carolina, maybe, Maybe that is Brady to be, who knows? Yeah, I mean, you may be right. If you look at the roster next year, we're probably going to get Brandon Garrison back, hopefully. Kirk Crease is apparently likely to apply if he doesn't come back, do a medical red shirt. Is Oway possible?
Starting point is 00:48:21 Otega, yes. So OTAG gets a draft grade. So those are three people that could come back. Then you take the other three freshmen. Obviously, still have Trent Noah and Travis Perry and Colin Chandler. and then now you can go get two or three guys in the portal, pick the position that you want. I'm okay with it.
Starting point is 00:48:38 I mean, I'd like to have had him. I don't want to sound like, oh, I didn't want him, which is what people do when you don't get a guy. But you can make it work. Right now it is a good mix. You got three returning, three freshmen, three recruits. Yeah, now you can go to the transfer portal and get the guys you need to fill the holes to fit your system.
Starting point is 00:48:54 Yeah, for me, I want to go see them. They'll have to do this in the portal now. They do need to go get a stud, right? In the same way that we've sort of said, do we have a dude on this team? Like, that's my only worry for next year. You're going to have to go get a dude. But in the portal, they'll be a couple dudes. Right?
Starting point is 00:49:14 There'll be a couple dudes that are dudes. I don't know how many times I can say that word. So you got to, we're just going to have to get one, and we'll have a lot of money for it. So hopefully we can make it happen. Hey, thank you all very much for coming out here to Don Franklin Otto. Thanks to Don Franklin Otto for always being such a great partner. tomorrow. Our pregame show starts at noon. You can come watch the game at the bar. I would suggest get there early to get your spot. It should be a great atmosphere.
Starting point is 00:49:38 Let's go beat the doors. See at noon. This has been Kentucky Sports Radio.
