Those people are starving for banter.

A Vision Autoglass Text Machine is 772-745254. Joe writes, Matt, I think your Secret Service name would clearly be nose whistle.
Starting point is 00:03:26 Shut up. Brian says, Matt, your secret service name would certainly be white necklace. Also shut up. Another good one. I'll do this one. One person writes, Matt, I think it would be toenail. I'll take that one. Townail is a good one.
Starting point is 00:03:45 People, you know, that's a random story I told Drew that really sticks in everybody's mind. Was the carrying around a toenail. I don't know why that one sticks. You don't know. You don't know. I don't know either. Why would anybody remember that? I thought everybody did that.
Starting point is 00:03:59 All right, so 859-2-8-0-22-87, feel free to talk about callback of the Tennessee game. I'm glad to talk about the Tennessee game for the rest of the year because I love beating Tennessee. But we do need to talk about, you know, the next three days through Saturday are going to be all. I do think a lot of the national spotlight from the college basketball world is going to be specifically on Kentucky fans. There are going to be two angles to this game Saturday. what does Cala Perry feel emotionally and then secondly us? And like, what are we? Like, how do we sort of receive Cal back?
Starting point is 00:04:37 And I have, you know, some thoughts on this that I just want to share. And then Drew, you and Shannon, like to hear what you think as well. I'm going to give you the short version of mine. Cal's going to walk in here on Saturday night. And the whole college basketball world is going to wait to see what our reaction is, whatever that reaction is. and there's going to be a lot made about what the reaction is. I have already done, I spent yesterday, I think I did four interviews with national outlets about what I thought the reaction would be and about the deterioration of the relationship between UK fans and Cal.
Starting point is 00:05:14 I've got another two scheduled on my way to the airport today. This is clearly going to be a big thing. And part of the reason I'm even doing them is I want to sort of express, I want to take up for, Kentucky fans on this because, you know, the natural reaction from a lot of people is going to be able to, is going to be say, hey, this dude coached you for 15 years. Why is whatever the reaction that comes, the reaction? And, you know, Cal did a, did an interview, I guess, yesterday or two days ago where he said, you know, he'd used his line about how he's got bazooka holes in him, so he doesn't even feel anything anymore. But I, you know, I don't believe
Starting point is 00:05:54 that. I know him. If he gets booed in here, it's going to bother him. But, you know, that's how it is, right? Like, that's, I get it. He's a human being. Like, it would stink if you, if you coached here and then had that reaction. Here's what I want to say to Kentucky fans. This is just my take on. If I was at that game Saturday, and I may be, but if I, if I do, I'm not going to, I'm not going to boo him, but I'm not going to cheer him. I don't think you cheer. him. If people want to, that's fine. I'm not going to cheer him just because he did leave. And the last few years were a strain on the fan base. But I'll be honest, we're also a strain on me personally. So I'm not going to give him a round of applause if the last time he was in Lexington,
Starting point is 00:06:42 he tried to get me fired. I can't stand up, Shannon, and give a round of applause when I know that one of the last few phone calls that was made was trying to get me to lose a job. Neither would anybody else up there in that situation. But I'm also not going to boo him. Because I've had a lot of my personal life, my personal success, he deserves a part in. I can't ignore that. I can't ignore that my switch from being a lawyer to doing this full time coincided with him getting here and the excitement he brought. And that especially in the early years, you know, he would give us some insight and stuff that was helpful.
Starting point is 00:07:18 So I can't ignore that either. You know, just because a relationship ends does not mean there were not positive moments in that relationship. So I can't ignore that. So I wouldn't do anything. But what I want to say to Kentucky fans is whatever you decide to do Saturday, whether it is cheer, boo, or be in silence. You've earned the right to do whatever you do. Okay?
Starting point is 00:07:43 If you decide to get up and applaud him because of his time here, you've earned the right to do that. My guess is all of you listening, he's giving you very happy moments. if you decide like me to stand up and do nothing, you've earned the right to do that for whatever your own personal reason would be. But if you decide to boo, you've earned the right to do that too.
Starting point is 00:08:07 We've booed a lot of coaches over the years. Matter of fact, we boo most road coaches. Any road coach with notoriety for the other team gets booed. Bruce Pearl gets booed. Nate Oates gets booed. If Shoshchevsky had come in here, he'd get booed, Rick Petino got booed, Chris Matt got booed. I mean, you name the coach, Billy Donovan.
Starting point is 00:08:30 Billy Donovan coached here when he came back with Florida, what happened? He got booed. That's the way it is. He coaches Arkansas. Arkansas is our rival. So if you want to stand up and boo, you've earned a right to do that too. So there's going to be this collective, you know, I know some of our media is getting up and saying, please don't boo.
Starting point is 00:08:52 be classy. People in this fan base are smart. People in this fan base know more about basketball than any other group of college fans in the country. You have a right to whatever reaction you have. And you do not let people who aren't part of this group tell you what your reaction should be. Whatever your reaction is is completely valid. For me personally, my reaction is going to be solid. violence.
Starting point is 00:09:23 But whether you're cheering, whether you're booing, you have a right to express your emotions because he's a road coach. Now, if in 10 years he's retired and he comes in here to watch a game, all of us, me included, should applaud. I do believe that, absent him doing something crazy between now and then, which I don't think he will. But as an Arkansas coach, when he walks in here after having left us with all the the basketball Benny talk and all that's happened over the last few years, whatever reaction
Starting point is 00:09:57 you give, you have earned. And I'm not going to listen to Seth Greenberg or Jay Billis. I don't know that he would say this. Or whoever that gets on television or rights to say we shouldn't, they're wrong. They don't get a vote. Our vote is internal. I've heard Jack Given say he will cheer. You've heard me say I'll do nothing.
Starting point is 00:10:19 I've heard at least one prominent person say they'll boo. All reactions are valid. That's my take. Drew, what's your take? I agree with you in that people should do whatever they wanted to do. And I think it's going to be a little bit of everything. I think it's going to be pretty divided. We'll hear the booze.
Starting point is 00:10:36 And I think the people that want to cheer will try to drown that out, which will make the booers be louder. I think we'll just have a little conflict with fans. And I think part of that is, I think there's just divide on what people think booing is, starting with that. Some people, like you're saying, and I agree with, he is coming into Rupp Arena to ruin our day. I think that alone is worth booing, whatever your name is. If you're on the other team wearing the other logo, I think you should be booed, whether you're at Bucknell, whatever.
Starting point is 00:11:03 They're coming in to ruin your day. If you want to boo them, boom, boom, it's sports. That's what we do. We hope they still go to their cars and go eat dinner with their families at night. But you're in Rupp Arena. You should get booed if you're wearing the other color. So that alone, I think some fans should do it, allowed to do it, whatever. I'm not going to boo. Do whatever you think.
Starting point is 00:11:19 But then also someone on KS. Board made a great point. Their name was actually John Calamari. He listed all the reasons he loves Cal, great reasons, and we all agree with them. And he said he's traveling all the way here just to boo Cal because he needs it just for reconciliation. Like, I'm going to boo, and then I'm closing the book on being mad at Cal. We're all moving on. We'll have the game. All of them.
Starting point is 00:11:44 but I need to boo to let him know how upsetting the last few years were because he didn't have a moment to really feel from the fans that were that upset. I think he's drowned that out a little bit. So I think some people are booing just to start the game, just to get it out. They're going to hope we beat Arkansas. And from that point forward, bygones, big bygones, whatever, do what you got to do at Arkansas. Down the road, we'll bring you back and we'll have a big moment where we hug and talk about Duran Lamb and Aaron Harrison and all that.
Starting point is 00:12:10 But Saturday morning, it's Arkansas versus Kentucky. If people want to boo, what's wrong with that? They're not saying John Cala... Actually, one thing that really upsets me is the people saying, he did so much for this state. All right, no one is booing his character. Shannon made this point on the pre-show. No one thinks John Caliperia is a bad guy.
Starting point is 00:12:30 No one is ungrateful for what he did for Western Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky. He did so much good for Kentucky. The booing is not symbolic of John Caliperi a human. It is John Calipari who didn't, you know, live up to the standard the last few years, and then left in the middle of the night to go to an in-conference team who is coming to your arena on your schedule. If you want to boo that scenario, I don't see anything wrong with that.
Starting point is 00:12:52 Totally agree with that. And that's a key point, Shannon, I didn't hear you make it, but it's correct. We're not booing him as a person if he gets booed. As a person, Cal's a good guy. I say that in every interview. I said it all interviews I did yesterday, and I'll say it in all of him today. He's a good guy. But he also went on television on Tuesday and said, I will be here.
Starting point is 00:13:11 He made Mitch sit next to him. He made Mitch look like an idiot, which is not Mitch's fault, by saying, I support this guy, and then two days later, he talked to Arkansas. You're allowed to boo that if you want, right? And I think if people are booing. You're allowed to do that if you want to do it. And if people are booing, that's what they are booing. I don't wish any ill will on John Calipari's personal life.
Starting point is 00:13:34 I don't even know Calipari personally. But, yeah, he's done a lot of great things for the state, but that's not why we're, it's sports hate. It's not real hate for John Caliari. Perry. There's a big difference between sports hate and personal hate. It's booing at a game. It happens everywhere. When Shannon the dude walks out in wrestling and gets booed, the people in the crowd don't hate Shannon the person. He's playing a character in an event. Now, Cal is not like that, but he kind of is. He's wearing a red jacket. He is going to be he called the Hawks.
Starting point is 00:14:09 And he did a lot for this state. But you know what? This state did a lot for him, too. It was a mutually beneficial relationship. And we decided that relationship was not beneficial anymore. But so did he. And he left. And like, it's okay if people booed. Now, with that said, if you want to clap because the memories are so strong,
Starting point is 00:14:36 I think that's fine too. Drew's hit it. There's going to be loud clapping and there's going to be loud blue booing. And you can't be loud, silent, Drew, which is about what I would be. I'd be like, I'm so silent. But like that, you can't do that. And I think they're just going to out loud each other because everyone has already had this debate for weeks now. And everyone in that arena is going to try to be louder for whatever side they think is the right side.
Starting point is 00:15:00 All right. So we've said low arena, I wouldn't boo because I'll say this. It's tough for me because my inclination would be to boo. But I just can't because if I look in the mirror, I'm a lawyer if it's not for Cal, so I can't completely just dismiss the guy. Drew says he's not going to boo. Shannon, you don't have a personal connection to him like Drew and I do. So yours is almost the most neutral of the group.
Starting point is 00:15:28 Let's say you were at the game. What would you do? I probably wouldn't do either, but if I were going to do one of the other, I would be booing them. I just would. He chose this. Remember that. He chose to leave Kentucky. he chose to go to Arkansas.
Starting point is 00:15:44 That's why I don't feel bad for him. That's why I would boom. Yeah. All right. So there you go. That's our take. I'm sure we will hear your take over the next few days. 859-280-2287.
Starting point is 00:15:56 By the way, it is Wings Day at KS Bar all day, dollar wings all day and night. They're really good right now. I don't know what they're doing with them, but like I think they're better now than they've been in the last couple years. So shout out to our chefs. But Wings Day, Dollar Wings, all day. and then tomorrow, Ryan and Drew and I will be back at KS Bar, by the way. So if you want to see the show tomorrow. We'll take a break and be right back.
Starting point is 00:16:17 It's Kentucky Sports Radio. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending, opinions are flying, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where Sports Slice comes in. I'm Timbo. Every episode, we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the plays, the controversies, and the stories behind the headlines.
Starting point is 00:16:35 We go straight to the source, the athletes themselves. Their locker room stories, their reactions, the stuff, no. Nobody gets to hear. The laughs, the drama, the triumphs, the moments that never make the highlight real. From viral moments to historic games, from buzzer beaters to controversial calls, we break it down, give you context, and ask the questions everybody wants answered. SportsSlice brings you closer to the action with stories told by the people who live them. Listen to Sports Slice on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more, follow Timbo SlicLife 12 in the TikTok podcast network on TikTok.
Starting point is 00:17:08 What's up, guys, this is Clever Taylor the 4th. And on my podcast, The Cliverts Show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff. Like being an internet famous referee. We're in the middle of a game. This linebacker, this guy, this linebacker walks up to me. He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Time out.
Starting point is 00:17:29 Quarterback on office blue with 42. Hey, rep, my mama want you to wave at her. What? Where's she at? Hey, Ms. Parker. Listen to the Cliver Show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas.
Starting point is 00:17:49 And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast, Point Game is about defying the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows. Without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game.
Starting point is 00:18:09 We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything
Starting point is 00:18:23 he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers, why he got the bar.
Starting point is 00:18:37 But you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. American soccer is about to explode. The World Cup is coming. Ramos sending on the only store at the chip. I'm Ty Bramos. I'm Tom Boe.
Starting point is 00:19:08 On our podcast, inside American soccer, you'll get the real storylines. I'm not worried about Polisic, I'm not worried about Balagan, I'm not worried about McKinney. My only concern is what happens in the back. The biggest decisions. If you're going to look at stats and numbers, he has no shot at making this World Cup team. And the truth about the U.S. national team. It wouldn't be a huge surprise if our team ends up in the quarterfinals or potentially a great run into the semifinals. The World Cup is almost here.
Starting point is 00:19:39 Experience it all with us. Listen, Inside American Soccer with Tom Bogart and Tabramos on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, wherever you get your podcast. Welcome back, Tegu Sports Radio. Court, physical therapy. If you need physical therapy, go to court, K-O-R-T.com. No reason to be in pain here in 2025. It's court.com, K-R-T.com.
Starting point is 00:20:06 They've got 27 locations. They'll come in. Most insurance will pay for it, and you can make yourself feeling better. No reason to be sore. No reason to be hurt. Go to court.com. One person writes, this will be my call of the day from Whiskey Thief. Matt, basically what you're saying is a Ryan Lemonism.
Starting point is 00:20:23 When it comes to Cal, be proud of who you self. That's right, Drew. That's exactly what I'm saying. And that is a Ryan Limitism. Whatever your opinion is, you should be proud to have it. Exactly. Speaking of Whiskey Thief for their Friday in Louisville, looking forward to it. Yeah, so we are at Whiskey Thief Friday in Louisville.
Starting point is 00:20:38 The pre-Aransas show is at the Louisville location of Whiskey Thief. And we'll get an address for you tomorrow. But hey, Louisville people, this is our one Louisville remote of basketball season. So plan on joining us at Whiskey Thief. I believe it's in New Lou. Nanny Goat Strutt. That's right. Nanny Goat Strutt.
Starting point is 00:20:58 I remember that road, Nanny Goat Strut. So 859-2802287. Who's up next? Let's go to Joe. Joe. Go ahead, Joe. What about the guy that go to next to the guy, Shannon, who held? because he wanted to ask the Brad or whatever. Go ahead, Joe.
Starting point is 00:21:20 Hey, Matt. Big thing here is I think you laid the foundation for how everybody should go into the game. Really appreciate that. But from bottom of my heart, I want to say thank you. Because the national media has been coming down on Big Blue Nation all year long and how we should feel about Cal and this game. And you stuck up for us. So thank you from bottom of my heart.
Starting point is 00:21:43 everybody can do exactly what they want to do, and they have the right to do so. But thank you for giving us a voice. Well, they don't get a vote. I am so tired of the national media telling me how we should feel. You don't get to do that, right? Like, you don't get to say how the people who live and breathe this feel. Those folks sit somewhere else.
Starting point is 00:22:07 It's not a part of their life. They'll opine on Kentucky today. Then they'll opine on Yukon. tomorrow, Duke the next day. It's just a like thing for them to say. But we live here. We dealt with it. We know it better than they do.
Starting point is 00:22:22 And that's why the person that sits in Rupp Arena knows the John Cala Perry Kentucky experience better than any of the national people do. That's why Seth Greenberg, it's obnoxious for him to say what real UK fans should do. Every listener to this show knows more about Kentucky basketball than Seth. Greenberg. So he doesn't get to decide everyone in our fan base gets to decide on their own. Absolutely. Thank you so much, Matt. Go big blue, and I hope we blow them out of the water. Appreciate the call. All right, let's go to Brad, because he's held for a while for his point. So go ahead, Brad. Yes, Matt, thank you. I want to tell you why I would boo Caliperi. It's that he followed up three bad years with two good teams.
Starting point is 00:23:12 and for his own personal reasons, he refused to play the winning combination of players on either one of those teams. And they were good teams. They could have won games in Nashville. They could have won games in the NCAA tournament. But he refused for his personal reasons to play the correct combination of players. And then he follows that up with the audacity to go to Arkansas and come back and try and extort. more money from us. And that is just, I mean,
Starting point is 00:23:46 tell with him. Well, that's strong in the last sentence. I think everything else. I'm sorry. I mean, tell with him as a coach. Okay. All right. That's a good change.
Starting point is 00:23:58 I don't, but as far as everything else, I appreciate the call. I don't disagree with that, Drew, right? Like, I don't disagree with the fact that the last two years those teams should have been good and they weren't. I don't disagree with the fact that he played players because he had made promises to him. him and then we ended up not playing the best guys and i also don't disagree with in the end he still
Starting point is 00:24:17 was trying to get more money from us and was still trying to change the media landscape for himself drew that's just all those things are true well that brings me to my my question does Mitch barthard boo him he went in his office and lied on television knowing he had a foot out the door he won't boo him but i i he's not going to boo him because that's not how Mitch is but i guarantee you i mean Mitch will go up to cow if the moment comes he will shake his hand. But there was not a human being in the state of Kentucky with a bigger smile the day Cal left than Mitch. That is just true.
Starting point is 00:24:55 I mean, I didn't see it, so it's not like I visualized it. But metaphorically, I know that's true. He, for 15 years, their relationship had been negative. And it wasn't all Mitch Cowell's fault. Sometimes I think it was Mitch's fault. But in the end, I think a lot of it at the end was Cowell's fault. and nobody was happier. I mean, the moment Chan and Cal got that,
Starting point is 00:25:18 or Mitch got that phone call that Cal had talked to Arkansas, I bet he went in his, I bet he nearly said heck at his Bible study. He was so happy. Had to be a big weight off of him, though. I mean, it had to be because he went, we fought, I can get rid of this. Yep.
Starting point is 00:25:34 And I will say this. If I'm Mitch, the thing I couldn't get over is you made me go on TV. and take up for you when I wanted to get rid of you and then you went and did that and stabbed me in back. That'd be hard to get over, Drew. It would, wouldn't it? Yeah, I mean, I was partially joking about Mitch literally booing,
Starting point is 00:25:56 but if anyone has the right to do it, Mitch is high in that conversation with that awkward interview where they both talked about, oh, the marriage is great, don't listen outside them. Look at us, and then Cal is in Fayetteville the next week. Two days later, he's talking to Arkansas. So two days later. Do you think UK will do any kind of little short video?
Starting point is 00:26:16 They can't control the fans. Do you think there will be any welcome back quick highlight package? I don't think they should. I wouldn't surprise me if they do. But, you know, I don't know. I think, again, there's a day all of this should happen. I just don't think it's Saturday. As I said, I ended an interview with, I think, awful announcing,
Starting point is 00:26:36 who I think is doing a story, Shannon of me versus Seth Greenberg. about this. I ended it by saying, John Calipari deserves his flowers one day in Lexington. It just doesn't have to be Saturday. Yeah, there will be plenty of other opportunities in the future. There's plenty of other times for that. It doesn't have to be Saturday. Who's next? Corey. Corey, go ahead, Corey. It blows my mind that this is even a conversation. It is an adversarial coach coming into Rupp Arena. He didn't just leave us. He cheated on us. he went and took Tyson's chicken money. Now I can't buy eggs.
Starting point is 00:27:17 And he went to a subpar program. And now he wants sympathy. The man is in the middle of his Hollywood Hogan run. He's a hill. We can have our day. We will cheer him. It is not Saturday. He can eat it.
Starting point is 00:27:31 And if Seth Greenberg could quit hot-toeing him, he could eat. But it's mouthful. Thanks, Matt. Wow. Boy, this is like a fitness. These next two days will be like a fine bomb thing, right? You just open up the phones. Like, we don't even have to talk.
Starting point is 00:27:46 You may have given out the whiskey thief call the day too soon. Maybe. Oh, good. I mean, there is a sense, though, of it is an adversarial. Let me also say this about flipping the script. Let's say we were one in six, and they had beaten the teams we'd beat. Do you think these national media people lecturing us about how we're acting now wouldn't be lecturing, lecturing us the other way, Drew, saying, see, you let him go, you stupid fans.
Starting point is 00:28:17 You know they would. You know they would. Game day on Saturday, I wouldn't see it because I haven't watched that show in five years, but it would all be about look what you let walk out the door. He's going to come back tonight and show you how wrong you were. You should have stuck with your Hall of Famer, but blah, blah, the fans did this, when, way, look at them now. Now you're going to have to eat your words.
Starting point is 00:28:37 But no, it's the opposite. We were right. We were right. At the end of the day, we were right. The stuff people were saying here those last couple years, we got lectured every game about how we were wrong, and the fans' expectations are too high. We were right, you were wrong.
Starting point is 00:28:58 You guys were just taken up for your own. We were correct. And if it had been the opposite, you know we'd be getting lectured by them either way. That's why I don't want to hear it. We'll take a break and be right back. I saw it. T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney.
Starting point is 00:29:16 Call T.J. He'll make them pay. Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. All right. I want to get your guys' opinion before I tweet this. I was going to tweet out because I just want a survey of the fan base, Shannon. Okay. If you're at the game Saturday and Cal Perry was introduced, would you A, cheer, B, boo, C, stay silent? You think we should put that poll out there and see what it says?
Starting point is 00:29:40 Yeah, let's see. Why not? What do you think? Oh, definitely. Let's get these numbers. All right, so what do we think the numbers will be before I hit the post button? Now, remember, I mean, there are some people that follow me that are not a Kentucky fan, but I'm not sure what they would be inclined to vote anyway, right? They might want to make a, who knows what they. So let's just, what do you think it'll say?
Starting point is 00:30:00 Like, when we get ready to take the next break in 10 minutes, what do you think it's going to say? I think it's going to be pretty close all three ways. I'll give cheering like 40%. 38%. I'm going to say booing is 60. Oh, wow. And then I'll say 20 and 20, I guess,
Starting point is 00:30:22 what the other two is silent. It's interesting. I think stay silent will be the biggest. Really? Okay. Maybe it's just because that's what each of us would do, except I don't think Drew would cheer. But all right, there we go. I'm posting it.
Starting point is 00:30:34 Let's see what the result ends up being. I have no idea what it's going to be. I really don't. Because I don't know what the reaction is going to be Saturday. really don't. I think booing tends to just by nature be louder than cheering. But I don't really know. Because cheering, I mean, it's not going to be woo-hoo. It's going to be just clapping. There's definitely going to be a movement by some of the more, what would I call them,
Starting point is 00:31:01 sort of dignified members of our fan base, media especially, to encourage us not to boo. I'm going to guess the official line of UK will be not to boo. Mitch or maybe even Pope will say something like that. I'm going to, I mean, Jack has already done it. Tom may do that. And I get it. I don't know that that will have an effect, Drew, one way or the other, right? It's not.
Starting point is 00:31:30 We've heard people saying they're going to boo to their throat bleeds. You're not changing minds. I'm sure, though, there will be sort of the official line would be, hey, guys, don't do this. But I don't really know it'll matter. But we'll see. Who's up next, Shadden? Marty.
Starting point is 00:31:45 Marty, go ahead, Marty. First of all I'll say that, you know, we're in good hands when it comes to Mark Pope. I believe he's the biggest UK fan there is, and he's a coach of our basketball team. When he comes to booing, I want to encourage people not to boo. The reason is I'm on the boo train. Inside, I'll be booing as loud as you can boo. But outside, you've got to play the game. It's like playing chess.
Starting point is 00:32:08 You know, Arkansas season, you could say, is a wash. So he's going to be coming here with all his mojo, all his fire to beat us. We're his Super Bowl. So that's why I think you want to get to him, and get to him mentally. Give him the biggest state innovation you can. Yeah, I don't think that would work the way you think. I mean, look, if you could get every single person to be dead silent, that probably would be the biggest hard thing to process.
Starting point is 00:32:34 But there's no way you're going to get 22,000 people not to speak. So, you know, I get what you're saying, but I don't know that that would work. I appreciate the call. All right now, just a 750 votes in. Stay silent 38, boo 34, cheer 28. Ooh. I thought a lot of people would smash cheer just that weren't involved and didn't know how bad it got. Be like, well, why would you not cheer in the hall?
Starting point is 00:33:02 I mean, that is a split. That's, again, well, I'll do it at the end. but that's like the fan base is completely divided as to what to do. Which means you're going to get all kinds of things. But that means if that's true, if that is what it's like in Rupp, then the booze will be the loudest. Because the 38% boo, right now it's 40, 35, 25. The 35% booing are going to be, it's not like Shannon, they're going to boo softly.
Starting point is 00:33:31 Right. Yeah, they're going to be probably the most passionate out of the group. The booers are the most passionate. They're not doing their Liam Cohen voice. They're not going do Vaugh. Like they're not going to do that. Boo. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:45 Duval. I want to add one thing that that has proved like booing's not the end of the world. The Patriots booed Tom Brady when he came back with the bucks. This happens. Is that true? Is that what happened?
Starting point is 00:33:59 He did more for the Patriots than anyone could possibly do, but he showed up wearing the other uniform. They booed. They love Tom Brady. That's sports. And if we're Rupertina, we are supposed to have a home court advantage. We don't have one because of officiating. So the crowd has to do the work.
Starting point is 00:34:13 Why don't we, boo everyone. Is this not a hard concept? They're on the other team. Can I give one caveat to the boo everyone? All right. Again, people can do what they want. I actually don't think we should boo those players. Adu, Z, and Wagner.
Starting point is 00:34:33 Do you agree with that or no, Drew? I agree, but when I say boo everyone, I mean literally anyone in other uniform. When they announce the other players, every student in the student section goes, sucks after every player. Okay, it's just me. Again, I would not boo Adu Z in Wage.
Starting point is 00:34:50 I don't think they did anything wrong. And I wouldn't either, but I'm saying if people do, okay, this is sport. They do it for every starting five that's announced. I'm not saying I would do either. I love Adieu. I still cheer for a do. But if it happens, okay, it's Rupp Arena.
Starting point is 00:35:04 We're trying to create an environment and win a basketball. Would you boo the player, Shannon? They left. They left at the University of Kentucky to go play for Calipari University. That's what he called it, right? He said the campus is just moving. It's Cal U. So that's who we're playing for.
Starting point is 00:35:18 I still feel bad for those guys. Honestly, when I watch an Arkansas game, like when Big Z hit that three at the buzzer the first half a while ago, I was cheering. Even though I wanted Arkansas to lose, I still root for those guys. But I'm saying if people do boo, okay, they're on the other team.
Starting point is 00:35:31 Grow up. It's sports. People get booed. We're trying to create a hostile environment to win a basketball game. 2,700 votes in, stay silent, 39, boo 35,
Starting point is 00:35:43 cheer 26. So we only have a fourth of our fan base cheering. So that's what, I don't know, 5,000 people maybe? Now, I would generally say, though, Twitter is like a little more negative
Starting point is 00:35:56 than Rupp. But then again, last year, Cal had more support on Twitter than he did in Rupp, you know? I mean, the loudest track,
Starting point is 00:36:06 The loudest Cal supporters were the Twitter people. Like if you went on Facebook, you wouldn't think Cal had any fans. But then if you went on Twitter, he had a very loud section of fans. So I don't know. I don't know what it's going to be like. When I mentioned the highlight package. There's a fan page, Shannon, on Twitter or excuse me on Facebook. I'm not sure the name of it.
Starting point is 00:36:32 But it is clearly run by a guy who's a Cala Perry fan. Because they block any criticism of Cal and they let people just blast Pope. And it's called like Pope's Cats or something. And you're like, what? Pope's Cats, but it's a pro-Calaparian. But it almost looks like a pro-Calvary moderated. No, I think the fans on there are all our fans,
Starting point is 00:36:55 but it's just weird. This fan base with Cal, it's going to be weird. But again, after Saturday, it'll be different. But you've got to have that one moment, you know, and we'll see what it looks. Got to run it out. Syndicate done. Syndicate done.
Starting point is 00:37:11 How are you? So, can you hear me? Yes. So my thing is, if you think you're going to boo, ask yourself, what would Pope do? And then that should answer the question for you. I love Mark Pope. Let me say, hang on, syndicate, and then I'll let you finish. I love Mark Pope.
Starting point is 00:37:32 Mark Pope's a great dude, but I and Mark Pope are not the same guy. Right? Like, Mark Pope is a wonderful person, but he's not like, he's not Jesus Christ. I don't have to model my life's work after Mark Pope. So while I love Mark Pope, and I think he's a wonderful person and in some ways can be much nicer than me, this is, what I used to wear a bracelet that said, what would Jesus do? I did until it fell off. I'm not going to do a what would Mark Pope do. He is a human being, and we can react to things different. So, I'll tell you this is what I'm going to do, right? Are you guys listening?
Starting point is 00:38:08 Yes. I am roasting a 150-pound hog. I just ordered it. I got to pick it up tomorrow. I'm going to roast that 150-pound hog is what I'm going to do. Barbecue style. Head on, feet off. All right, there you go.
Starting point is 00:38:23 Wow. Took a violent turn. Now, is that a lot? How much, like, how much do hogs weigh? Is 150 pounds a lot? That sounds about right. I don't know. Sounds about right.
Starting point is 00:38:32 Do you know? I've never roasted a pig before ever. I could look at a lot. You better be putting on that Tom T. Hall who's going to feed them hogs. We need all of our hog songs. And we need the town. And what I want you to play the next segment is they have a song called Arkansas Gambler by Town Mountain. The chorus is like, ain't going back to Arkansas.
Starting point is 00:38:51 I'm playing that all weekend. Okay. I still got the razor bags in my freezer if you all get nuggets in my freezer if you get hungry. They've been sitting there since last May. It's about time. Games at night. They're almost right. We could roast those up at the bar after the.
Starting point is 00:39:06 the game's over if we want. Let's see. Fully grown hogs away between three and 700 pounds. So 150, it's a baby. He's got like a little baby paw. You got a little little baby hog. A little sweet Mountain Angel hog. Okay.
Starting point is 00:39:20 Ryan's not here to do stock to mortgage. So I'll tell you what we're going to do. Shannon has the script. Drew, I want you to do as much of a stock to mortgage ad as you could do. Shannon, you throw in what he misses. Okay. All right, Drew. Tell me about stock to mortgage.
Starting point is 00:39:34 All right. Quickly, this is on brand. because for the pregame show yesterday, Ryan started and then goes, you're going to host, like, as the show is on. So I can be Ryan again. I can do a whole, anything Ryan does. Stockton Mortgage, it's a great time to buy. Markets hot right now. We got lots of locations across Kentucky. We like the MLS, number three something. 8-2009. There you go. Stockton Mortgage.com. Check it out. They're your one-stop shop for mortgages. I'm Ryan Lemon, and it's a great time to buy. Thank you. It's pretty good. Stockton.com. What else, Shannon?
Starting point is 00:40:06 Yeah, they're big on modular manufactured homeownership. It's achievable. You can do that. You can get it all in one mortgage with Stockton Mortgage. Go to Stockton.com. NMLS 8259 Equal Housing Lender, NMLS Consumer Access.org. So he made you host even though you weren't ready. Like he told you at the beginning, you were hosting? Yeah, on the air. Billy knows. Ryan let us in and then threw it to me. And I was like, all right, what is this show called? So we had a good pregame show, but short notice for me. And, you know, I was ready. Maybe a little more game planning before we were live would have worked out.
Starting point is 00:40:41 All right. Let me get the final results here after 15 minutes before the trolls all ended up taking over. Final results, 38% silent, 34-boo 27 cheer. So it's pretty split. But the 38% silent, your vote won't register because you'll be. be silent. It's going to be the other people who make the noise. We'll take a break and be right back. It's this KSR.
Starting point is 00:41:08 Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending, opinions are flying, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where Sports Slice comes in. I'm Timbo. Every episode, we're cutting through the noise. Breaking down the plays, the controversies,
Starting point is 00:41:23 and the stories behind the headlines. We go straight to the source, the athlete themselves, their locker room stories, their reactions, the stuff, nobody gets to hear. The laughs, the drama, the triumphs, the moments that never make the highlight real. From viral moments to historic games, from buzzer-beaters
Starting point is 00:41:39 to controversial calls, we break it down, give you context, and ask the questions everybody wants answered. Sports Slice brings you closer to the action with stories told by the people who live them. Listen to Sports Slice on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Starting point is 00:41:55 follow Timbo Sliced Life 12 in the TikTok podcast network on TikTok. What's up guys? This is Clifford the fourth and on my podcast the clivered show i'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff like being an internet famous referee we're in the middle of a game this linebacker you know these kids linebacker wops up to me he goes hey ref my mom wants you to wave at her what time out look quarterback on office blue 42 hey rep my mama want you to wave at her what where she at hey miss parker
Starting point is 00:42:32 Listen to The Clippers show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. American Soccer is about to explode. The World Cup is coming. Ramos sending on the Army Stewart. I'm Tom Bowdo. On our podcast, inside American soccer, you'll get the real storylines. I'm not worried about Policic. I'm not worried about Balagan.
Starting point is 00:43:02 I'm not worried about McKinney. Experience it all with us. Listen, Inside American Soccer with Tom Bogart and Tab Ramos on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:43:39 What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano and our podcast. podcast point game is about defying the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves,
Starting point is 00:43:58 I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too.
Starting point is 00:44:22 Steve Nass would get that thing. That man, hell get to fly. He running up the court, licking his fingers why he got the ball. Like, you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah. You figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you. you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:44:44 Ain't going back to Arkansas. I'd be all right, Shannon, if we never went back to Arkansas. Yeah. The only time I went there, we went through the Ozarks and we, what was that place? Who to thunk it? Who to thunk it? Yeah. Fayetteville's all right. And I've heard there are other nice places, but I personally, it was worth
Starting point is 00:45:01 going to Little Rock. The Clinton Museum is cool. I still can't believe in the Clinton Museum. They put all the Monik Lewinsky stuff, Shannon. Like, they put it all there. Like, if it was my museum, I'd be like, can we leave that stuff out? My life's coming in. You know, do we have to...
Starting point is 00:45:12 We're trying to forget that happened. Do we have to put this in here? Like, she's going to be here this minute. But it's all in there. And so it's always kind of interesting. Right now, looks like it's going to be stay silent, slightly, then booed and cheer. So it's going to be loud, I think, when he gets introduced. We got a lot of people on, so we might as well give him a chance.
Starting point is 00:45:31 Before we do it real quick, Draft Kings, let's go to Draft Kings, download this app. Use promo code KSR, bet five. You can get $200 in free, bonus bets from Draft Kings. Let's make our picks here. Auburn is at LSU. Drew, any chance LSU wins or is Auburn Roe? Auburn's going to roll. We really need Auburn to quit playing basketball so we can have a shot at this. They're pretty good. Texas is at Old Miss. Any chance Texas goes on the road? Ole Miss only a six point favorite, which I find kind of odd. Only six at home. No, Ole Miss is one of that. All right. Then the big one, Alabama at Mississippi State. Mississippi State's the favorite. guys by one and a half points. What do you think about that? I saw that this morning. This is the spread
Starting point is 00:46:16 that threw me off. Yeah, I would take Alabama, I think, on this, even on the road. I think Alabama's much better team. I think I would take Alabama too. Mississippi State's, but like Mississippi State can't outscore Alabama, can they drew? I mean, Hubbard's tough, but Alabama has a lot of scores and they have Hubbard. I don't think so. I think I would like Alabama. It feels like they're finding themselves a little bit. I like Alabama. I'm really surprised by it's for him all right who's next all right let's go to adam go ahead adam uh hey guys other i guess it was yesterday's show uh you talked about it being a realistic that kutucky goals 9 and 9 in the cc so with the win last night
Starting point is 00:46:58 that puts us at 4 and 3 and that meant that means we finish out the season 5 and 6 the rest of the way in conference so is that still realistic yeah it's still realistic but now i would if I were making my in-season predictions, now I'm looking at like 10 and 8 because I didn't expect us to win that game, right? So, you know, I appreciate to- So where do those wins come from? I think if I were to pick the most likely wins, I appreciate to call. Saturday against Arkansas, then South Carolina than LSU,
Starting point is 00:47:28 that would get us to 7. I think we, who else do we play at home? Vandy. Vandy, I think we went to Mandy at home. That's eight. then I think we steal one of at Texas and at Oklahoma. I think we get at least one of those. That gets us to nine.
Starting point is 00:47:44 And then between Auburn, Tennessee, Bama at home, we end up winning one of those, Tim, maybe even get to 11, Drew. That's kind of where I am right now. Yeah, I like to check Ken Palm after games, and he's, you know, it always updates. He has Kentucky winning at Texas and Oklahoma by one point now and only losing four more games, and I believe that makes them to foreseed in the tournament with all those projections.
Starting point is 00:48:06 but, I mean, that looked completely different before yesterday. Show us how quickly it can change. Yeah, I mean, now that the path is a lot greater. The path is a lot better. I mean, you know, you play at Ole Miss Tuesday night. Let's say you beat Arkansas and then you play at Ole Miss Tuesday night. If you steal that game, now I think we're right back there trying to fight for a double-bye. I mean, that's how big that game was last night.
Starting point is 00:48:28 So, you know, beat Arkansas, get to five and three. If you could find a way to win at Ole Miss and go six and three, all right, now we're cooking with grease, right? and it's going to, I'm going to continue to say cooking with grease, Shannon, because people want to say cooking with, fire. Fire, but it's grease. Yeah. That's what we say. That's the right. I don't like when people.
Starting point is 00:48:45 Be cooking with a grease fire. How about baking grease this week? That's what I'm cooking with. Who's up next? Mark. Mark, go ahead, Mark. Yeah. Hey, guys.
Starting point is 00:48:55 A couple of things. I think all these national audiences, you know, I just don't think they have a right in this message. So I'm not going to fall at all. I'm going to be silent. And let me say this. when I started dating and was looking for a wife, I had one rule. She couldn't be a Louisville fan. The second thing I did is when my mom passed away, I looked at the Kentucky schedule,
Starting point is 00:49:18 and I didn't plan the funeral around the date when they played. So who cares what national folks say or do, right? So John Caliperi, if you look at him, he's very transactional, which is fine. He got paid millions of dollars. So at the end of the day, whatever you want to do as a fan, do it. And it's all good. For me, silent. All right, I agree with that.
Starting point is 00:49:44 Wow. Set the date for the mother's funeral, Drew, around the games. Now, that one goes on the list of, like, amazing Kentucky fan stories. That's on the list. Oh, yeah, that's a diehard Kentucky fan. I bet some of our listeners are thinking, yeah, I did that too. Or have another example of how crazy we are. To be fair, they play on Saturday.
Starting point is 00:50:05 Just have the funeral on Sunday, Shannon. It's another 24 hours, huh? Yeah, and it's the day to Lord anyway. They're not going anywhere. Adeline. Can you hear me talking? Adeline, go ahead. Adeline, go ahead.
Starting point is 00:50:30 What's up, Adeline? I'm so glad we beat Tennessee because I can't stand that orange big T. Yeah, it's terrible, isn't it? It's an ugly orange. Like, you would never wear that color, would you? No. No, it's ugly.
Starting point is 00:50:51 It's like the puke inside of a pumpkin orange. Like, it's just terrible. Well, Adeline, are we going to beat Arkansas on Saturday? Yes. All right, that's all I needed to hear. I hope we beat the dirty, stinking hog. Thank you very much, Al. She's booing.
Starting point is 00:51:07 But there we go. That's a booer right there. All right, Adeline. you very much. How about that video, Drew, that was a great video of Kobe Bray and the little Tennessee kid last night. Wasn't it? That was kind of sweet, wasn't it? It was. As much that I liked that, though, I liked whoever put Ziegler's face on the little kid with a Photoshop and Brea taking the picture. I like that even better. But no, that was a fun moment. We keep getting these moments after every game. There's a story on KSR. Now Pope just took somebody's
Starting point is 00:51:34 phone and FaceTime their grandmother after the game. It's just one after another. This is a team. This is a team you take home to mom, right? Like this is definitely a, you take home to mom. You know, the Wall Cousins team, that was a date, that was a date for fun. The bad boys. This is a team that you take home to mom. Sweet Mountain Angel babies. Sweet Mountain Angel babies will be back at KS Bar tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:52:00 Wings Day, the rest of the day. See you later. It's a Kentucky Sports Radio. Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite on humor. me with Robert Smygel and friends, me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, S&L's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter.

Starting point is 00:53:18 of the season. And I'm looking back on some of my greatest playoff moments. If we didn't talk ever again, I was harmed. You just understood. That's how personal it got. Wow.
Starting point is 00:53:27 Then after that game 7, Mark keep coming to, he's like, you know I love you, dog. You know, it's all love. This was just playoffs. This was just basketball. So listen to Point Game
