Welcome back.
It is Kentucky Sports Radio here live in Louisville.
Wow.
Whiskey thief.
Listen to that.
Oh, C.
X, S, G, S, S, S, S, S, S.
There we go.
Whiskey Thief.
A tool used to pull whiskey out of a barrel and a great distillery here in Kentucky.
They've become a great partner of ours over the years,
and we thank them for being a part of it.
Thank you, guys, Whiskey Thief.
We're making this a regular thing here at the other distillery.
It's been awesome.
How about Walt picking this day, too?
What a perfect time to have a remote.
Perfect day, although yesterday about noon,
I was like, I'm going to have to tell him I can't come,
and I'm going to be because I've had to miss one of years before,
and I didn't want to, but we got here this morning.
We're ready to go.
Great crowd here, too.
We always get a good crowd, but they're extra,
hot today excited for the show. Why could you be? So yeah, let's talk about what tomorrow's
going to be like. I mean, first of all, we, you know, the game's not till 9 o'clock, but I got a
feeling the city's going to be kind of buzzing all day. You know, people are asking me about
watching the game. All right, so here's the deal. I would say if you want to come, here's what
I ask that you don't do, please. Don't show up at my bar at 1 o'clock and stay at the game. I'm not
gonna kick you out but like don't do that to the people there because you know they make their money
off tips come for the pregame and then everybody clears out and goes to the game and that's when
you come to watch the game so like everybody by the game's at nine everybody'll be out of there
by 730 745 then show up and go to the go to the game I do think it's going to be wild in there
tomorrow I think it's going to be wild in downtown Lexington and the game being at nine o'clock in
Rupp Arena right it's going to be
drunk.
It's going to be, it's going to be drunk.
I highly, highly advise if you're going to the game, go early because traffic and parking
is going to be a zoo.
And you want to be there early to see the introduction.
That's part of the environment tomorrow night.
The entertainment, you want to see that.
You know, drunk people love to boo people.
So I'm just saying, if we're talking about booing.
If you're talking about booing, the drunker, the more booey.
Yeah.
They did Cal so wrong with none.
As soon as the schedule came out last October, it was like,
Oh, no. I mean, he has to sit there all day and wait.
Probably at the little Hyatt next door. Maybe he'll get around a little bit.
But he has to wait for that. And then the crowd is just going to be, as you're saying, so drunk, it's going to be worse.
If it had been a good crowd, but it wouldn't have been as bad, he could have gotten right to it, gotten home.
That's the worst case scenario for him.
What person writes, Matt, are you going to be embarrassed if they actually get applause yesterday and the crowd loves cow?
No, I mean, I won't be embarrassed.
I think that, first of all, I think booing would not be disrespect.
That's what you do to opposing coaches.
And if he were to get cheered, that'd be an amazing amount of respect.
I would argue it's more respect than probably the fan base even feels for him.
They're almost doing it because they're nice people.
Contrary to what a lot of folks believe, I think our fan base is pretty nice.
But, no, I mean, I wouldn't be upset about it.
I'd be a little surprised if it's overwhelming cheers.
But it could be.
I do think it's going to be more positive than I thought it was going to be a week ago.
Like a week ago, I thought booze are going to win out.
Now, it just seems like there's a bit of mood amongst some people of let's be classy
and let's, you know, all the things you hate.
I don't see any like any of the donors, like the big money.
Oh, I do.
People booing.
You think they would boo them?
Some of the donors hate them.
It costs a lot of money.
Some of the donors hate them.
But now they're giving their money to Pope instead of him.
No, I mean, I think the donor class, though, was a class.
he lost before he lost the average fan.
Donor class has been out on him for years.
Well, then if they're going to boom, then everybody will.
I mean, you know, we'll find out.
Meyer Metcalfe put out the five most important moments of the Cal Kentucky era.
Okay.
Let's see what you think.
Number one, the first year.
Basically arguing Cal Perry make Kentucky cool again with John Wall, all the celebrities
that come through, Demarcus Jay-Z, Samuel L. Jackson.
Shaq, Shaquille O'Neal, LeBron, all 10 games, Drake.
That was number one.
I think that's probably right.
I think the 2010 team was just huge for changing the program.
And he did that without a transfer portal.
I mean, it's impressive what Pope did,
but Cal did that when you just had to get high school kids
and still fixed Kentucky basketball.
He's had second 2012 and 2015,
basically calling that era the era of Kentucky dominance,
which I would agree.
Two of those four years, we had two of the best college
teams ever. One of them didn't win, but those are two of the best modern college basketball teams.
Third, evolving landscape costs Kentucky its grip on elite talent. Basically says Duke starts going
after elite players as well. Cowell doesn't get all the one and duns. And then his recruiting
slips some years not even getting any top 10 players. You agree with that? Yeah, I do. I mean,
I remember going to the peach jam with you early in the Cal era and kids were like Kansas, Duke,
or Kentucky. But then as the time went on, they start going Alabama. They start going
It's like more people just got involved on going for the five stars instead of surrendering in them.
Number four, interesting enough, he says Cal loses a connection with the fan base.
I actually agree with that.
That's interesting for a national guy to say.
And then number five, a loss to Oakland and other, and fans basically giving up on his style.
Would you agree with those five is the five most important?
I like that.
Yeah, I mean, there was definitely a disconnect.
I think that happened sometime around COVID, you know, that nine and 16th season.
And then, yeah, I mean, lose.
into Oakland and St. Peter's, I think those were the two last, you know, Nells in the
coffin for Calipari here. He didn't mention the record draft picks.
Was that not the best? I don't think that was number one, right? It was the best day ever?
Yeah, I don't think that was one of them. There'll be a few moments, Ryan, of when I'm done doing
this, that I'll think about what the environment was like in that particular moment.
And a handful of mine coincide with these errors. If you just were saying, what were the moments
felt the strongest. Again, unless you were there, the pregame of that 2010 and 2012
Carolina games, there was just a feeling of big time basketball is back in Kentucky, and that's
great. Obviously, the feeling on the floor when we won the title, you know what it was like
when we lost in 2015 to Wisconsin. But I don't know that there's going to be many things, Drew,
I remember more than standing on that court as they walked lost to Oakland. And me saying to you
right before it was over, let's go over here and watch.
this because this is this might be it and the way fans were screaming at Cal I
mean just these random people in Pittsburgh just screaming at him and him looking
dazed and it was just you were like is this how it's gonna end and then it did
is even worse because a week before we saw a lesser version yeah to a fewer
people but that was shocking you're like wow they're booing Cal in Nashville in an
arena that's 95% blue.
Wasn't everybody. He was right at the tunnel.
But then it was much worse in Oakland.
I remember fans pointing us for like a minute left, we're standing there watching,
and they're like, he's got to go, he's got to go.
And then the moment he came from that tunnel, they were just giving it to him.
The, you know, the hour between when that game ended, or maybe hour and a half
in the post-game show, this is not an exaggeration.
In the arena, and then as I walked trying to figure out where I was going to do the post-game
show, every single Kentucky fan I see.
saw said you got to call for him to get fired he's got to go he's got to go text messages from
friends of mine's like now's the time now's the time you got to say get him out get him out it was like
it took a week and a half more shannon but it was over at that moment yeah it would have been
tough for you to do that though with the NCAA tournament coming up the next week no no he's not
talking about it was Pittsburgh oh you're talking about at that moment though yeah I mean I think everybody
was in that same boat if we got to get rid of him who's
next. Zach is up next.
Zach, go ahead, Zach.
Hey, guys, what's going on?
First time I'm a podcast.
Who are? What's up?
I'm actually currently working on.
Which, if you don't know, crosses in the Harley County,
shout out there,
Mountain Mamba.
Yes, Mountain Mamba, I like it.
Not Sweet Mountain Angel, baby.
We're going to go with Mountain Mamba.
Oh, come on.
I've got a few thoughts.
What's your thoughts?
the video that a do put out
some of the friends with everybody on the team.
Number two,
if he's now wanting to applause,
I think he comes out before the team.
That's what we can boo him when he's
the Nassas the Arkansas head coach.
And number three,
does Pope bring up two-three tomorrow?
Bring out what?
Two-three defense.
Two-three.
Yeah, Pope doesn't seem to want to play a ton of zone either.
He plays a little bit.
What did it?
do say? I got me honest. I didn't hear much of that call. Was that muffled for you all?
Yeah, it was. What did a do a press conference yesterday. What did he say?
One thing he said, well, he loved his time in Kentucky and he has nothing but great things
to remember him about in Kentucky. I wish to do it stay here. We could use it.
SEC basketball. That's like that's a dude we don't have. We could, we could use a dude like
that. He went to SEC basketball media days last summer. First appearance in Arkansas
gear. KSR, we're down there interviewed him. It is like sad. Like you could tell. He's like, how
How did I end up in this?
Like it's honestly hard to watch him talking about Kentucky in the change.
He didn't know how to explain it.
Yeah.
By the way, are we wearing denim tomorrow?
Have we heard?
Like, this has all gotten long.
Are we doing?
What are we doing?
I've got the firecrackers.
Okay.
It's a big game.
Yeah.
No, I don't know about denim, though.
They've been hush, hush about it.
So I don't know if it makes me kind of think maybe it might.
I feel like we might see some of tomorrow.
I'm not sure.
I just just, we'll see.
Who's next?
Garrett is up next.
Garrett, go ahead, Garrett.
Hey, guys.
I just wanted to say that I'll be at the game tomorrow, and I'll be boomed.
I cannot forget now for what he did with last year's team,
and I think it's annoying that anybody wants to cheer the man.
When he's announced, they aren't going to say,
and former coach of Kentucky, John Calopary,
they're going to say Razorbacks coach John Calipari.
Saturday is not the day to cheer, and I will boot as loud as I can.
If anyone chews Cow, then I expect him to cheer pop and our team so loud
that my eardrum first.
Thanks, guys.
And go, there's a strong voice.
Now, listen to all you all clapping.
Hang on, just saying, every single one of you, not one of you said you would boo,
and then you all clap when that guy says he was going to boo.
Well, nobody going to the game.
That's just interesting to me.
Like, it just shows the power of a good speech and a good leader, Ryan.
Like, everybody was like, I don't think we should boo.
Then one guy goes, let's boo, boo.
And then everybody's like, yeah, boo.
I think he did bring up a good point of the fact, though, when they announce our guys,
though you should blow the roof off.
You know, make it just deafening loud in there when they announced Mark Pope.
Well, no, that's different.
Pope's getting to pop.
Oh, wow.
Pope's going to get, like, a Steve Austin pop.
Yeah.
Like, it's going to be, it's going to be like glass-shattering pop when Pope.
And it's a lot different saying what you would do here versus in the moment when it actually happens.
You know what I mean?
Like, in that moment.
You know what, yeah, exactly.
You don't know what you're going to do.
You like a lot of that
By the way, I think that happens to people
Like you just kind of get caught up
And next thing you know, wait, I'm booing a child
What am I doing right now?
Your section's booing all of a sudden you're like, yeah, booed that kid
Brian's in a children's game
Telling a seven-year-old to shut their mouth
Like you, you never really know what's going to happen
Who's next?
Sherry is next
Sherry, go ahead, Sherry
Hey, I've just wondered
Are they going to show
Like on the network
Will they show if
the booing and all that.
Well, okay, so normally they miss the start of games, but they did build an extra 30 minutes
between the Duke Carolina game and the Kentucky game.
So Duke Carolina actually starts at 630, and our game starts at 9.
And maybe, who knows, maybe they built that in to be able to show the announcements
or maybe just because they didn't want them to go long.
But, you know, and I appreciate it's called.
this is like historically this is the weekend where college basketball sort of announces to the world we're back right like this is the
robbery week yeah I mean this but this is the first Saturday and Sunday with no football right right so they basically say all right we're back and then there's no it's not a surprise that if you go look at the schedule that's on ESPN tomorrow it's like North Carolina at noon Kansas is at full or excuse me like Auburn at noon or whatever Kansas is
at four, Duke Carolina at 630, and then Kentucky at nine.
Like, that's why they do it.
And with Carolina stinking, everybody's going to be watching to see what happens with Kentucky.
And plus, we're going to get a huge lead-in.
This is going to be a huge audience for the game because you got, we're after Duke Carolina.
Normally, Duke Carolina is the whole thing.
We're after it.
So we're going to get that lead in.
It's going to be wild.
And I don't care what Seth Greenberg says.
He says that Kentucky and Arkansas fans are going to be the only ones paying attention
to this.
I think if you're a college basketball fan, you're watching this game tomorrow.
I think what Seth Greenberg is insured is that no one's going to be paying attention to him.
Imagine working for ESP.
I'll let you get that pop there.
I'm just saying.
Well, I want to add that.
I don't need any more, Seth Greenberg.
Imagine working for ESPN and saying the game doesn't matter.
I would call him in the office, be like, dude, this is on our network.
You are supposed to promote them.
That's a great point.
Why are you telling people it doesn't matter?
Yeah, the game doesn't matter.
I'm Seth Greenberg.
That's why he shouldn't be on game day.
Think about the people who go to football game day.
Corso loves the sport.
Herb Street loves it.
McAfee for all his gubernish, he loves it.
But they all love it, and they're into it.
And then you get Seth Greenberg just yelling.
Nobody cares.
The game is supposed to be fun.
You get a cranky old man from the Muppets yelling at people.

soccer with Tom Bogart and Tabramos on the IHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, wherever you get your podcast.
What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast, Point Game is about
defining the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows. Without Luca and Austin
Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the
playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the
lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he
has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends
stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash will get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers why he got the bar.
Like, you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah. You figure it.
it out real quick.
Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball.
So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your

They're always one of the ones people enjoy coming to this show the most because they're
all drinking, so they got to like it.
859-280-2287.
One person writes, Matt, the game tomorrow, how loud do you think it gets?
Is it one of our loudest crowds?
No doubt.
Without question.
This will be as good a pre-game atmosphere as we've had in who knows how long.
The actual game depends on how the game goes and all that.
But as far as a pre-game atmosphere, Ryan, this will be one of the best we've ever had.
Be the best since Patino came back.
I mean, people that were there that day, they know it was just, it was an unbelievable, you know, you hear that phrase, you hear the electricity in the air, you could feel it.
You could feel it, man.
As people were just anticipating Patino walking out, it'll be the same way tomorrow.
I think Kentucky fans are going to have so much anxiety and nerves that they are going to be living on every place.
So we're going to get reactions to everything throughout the game.
Oh, we're going to be very puckered up, I think, for, yeah.
Hopefully not too much.
Yeah, well, I could use some of that.
But they
TMI.
But they are definitely going to be
I like this choice for the
why
John Robic.
Yeah.
It would probably be there.
He was at the last game.
You want to get it, Cal?
Yeah, that's a good question.
Do you think Robic will come?
He's actually been in a lot of games
because he scouts.
No, but still.
Yeah.
You'll be at this one?
Yeah.
There's a lot of those people.
Like, there's a lot of people
just on a personal level
that I would just would like to see, I mean, I'd like to just personally see their interaction.
Yeah.
You know, I'd like to, I'd like to see Mitch and Cal.
Like, what's, I mean, what's their interaction going to be?
I mean, they'll shake hands because they're both pros, but you talk about two people
would be shaking hands that are seething mad at each other.
I asked you this one time.
I don't remember if I asked you on the air privately.
Do you think Cal really had any idea how much the fan base had turned on him before he left?
No.
I know.
That's why I've said this over and over.
That video, which is going to be what my, you know, you get images in your mind of these moments.
My image of him leaving was him walking his dog outside trying to rally the fan base around him.
I mean, for people who don't remember, they announced he's going to Arkansas,
and then there's like 24 hours of silence.
He is actively trying to renegotiate with Kentucky.
Kentucky is like, we're not.
negotiating and he went out and he walked that dog up and down Richmond Road.
Didn't he have it in a stroller?
In a stroller.
He walked it up and down because he wanted the visual of him.
There just happened to be a camera there, just happened to be a camera on Richmond Road,
following him up and down the road because he wanted there to be a, oh, he might stay.
Come on, Mitch, keep him here.
And when that didn't happen, I think it shocked him.
There's no doubt he was shocked.
He in his mind thought Matt Jones and those goobers at KSR have this little loud group of people that are against me, but everyone else is for me.
And he didn't realize that he lost the average, as I say to all the time, he lost the average fan before he lost me.
I was not the Pied Piper.
I was the caboose saying it's passed.
And I think that was what he never realized.
Yeah, and the stroller situation, KYT had that camera out there.
for a while. He knew exactly. He walked towards the camera.
Normally in that situation, you would not. Yeah. Yeah. He saw that
opportunity. Well, I can't keep quit thinking about. When he gets there tomorrow,
he designed the locker room that is just a celebration of 2012, but he's
going in the room that has four chairs, nothing on the walls. It's not big.
There's barely lockers. Well, one of the things that's going to be, you know,
bigger picture culture about the program, and again, like, we didn't complain about this
it happened because we like to win but like let's take the practice facility used to be when you
went in the practice facility most of you've probably never been down there where they actually practice
you go downstairs there's this built like this wall of players but there's no player on the wall
that didn't play for cow none they're all it's all cow people and they used to say well it's
it's all our guys in the pros but like tachshan prince wouldn't be on there and keith
Wogan wouldn't be on there.
Rondo wouldn't be on it.
Josie Meeks wouldn't be on there.
Rondo wouldn't be on there.
It was all players that played for Cal.
I'm going to guess if that hasn't been changed, it will be changed.
And it will be players from all the air.
You'll still probably have more recent ones because that helps in recruiting.
Sure.
But it's not.
But there was a time that if you didn't play for Cal, there was no obvious proof that you went to the school at the practice facility.
I think that part is going to be, is a huge change.
Well, it didn't take 24 hours to Pope to rip those.
cards off the wall of all the NBA players.
Now the murals that are on the walls, that's harder to do.
But in the practice where it's just, you know,
got the literally looks like a card,
those came down immediately.
Yeah, it used to just be the practice thing
had a little thing for the national
championship banners and then just the
NBA cards of all the people
that played in the NBA.
It wasn't even them in Kentucky jerseys.
It was them on their NBA jersey.
And, you know, that culture has shifted.
And it'll be weird for him to be in the Visters locker room,
which you've ever been in Rupp Arena.
The home team's locker room is plush.
The Vistrich's team locker room is and he's going for the first time be in the
locker room.
And the home is his locker.
They haven't changed that yet.
It is just 2012 everywhere.
That is his design.
I'm sure that'll get changed on down the road.
But it is a celebration of that team and he doesn't get to go in there anymore.
Who's next?
The key card doesn't work.
Super Dave is next.
Super Dave.
Hello.
Hey, guys.
I was wondering if y'all could do a shout out to the.
my grandson Noah, who's three today, and he knows how to do L's down.
His dad's already taught him how to do that.
Hello, Noah.
Okay.
The thing I want to bring up is, do you think there's going to be a controversy about
when Butler comes back the way Robinson has kind of embraced the row of the point guard?
I mean, he seems to doesn't let it bother, and Butler kind of, I don't know.
He just.
I don't know.
No, because, I mean, we also have to remember we won some games this year because of Butler, too.
I think what will happen is, and I appreciate the call, I think we see less Travis Perry attempt minutes.
And basically, I think if Robinson plays another game or two like he's played, Robinson at this point's a backup point guard.
Definitely.
And, hey, Lamont Butler's been awesome.
He's injured right now.
They need him back.
I hope he's back tomorrow for defense because that'll be important.
But Robinson looks comfortable, but you don't want to take him off the wing and give him more assignment.
But now in the backup role, I like it.
But you still want him to be Jackson Roberts.
It'd be nice to have Butler tomorrow.
Because if I had Butler on Wagner, I know he's not going to go off on me.
There's a part of me that worries that Wagner will be able to take whoever we have in.
But definitely need Butler.
You definitely need Butler, but you can make an argument.
They're better offensively with Jackson Otega and Kobe Bray out there.
Probably.
And Almanor.
Yeah, offensively, you're probably right.
We'll take a break.
Be right back.
KSR.
Welcome back.
Takey Sports Radio.

Text machine, 772, 77524.
Shout out to UK women's team who won last night against Alabama.
Give them a round of applause.
7-1.
7-1 in conference play.
They play five of their next seven games, I think, are against ranked teams.
Basically, their schedule was loaded up.
They had all the easy teams first.
So they've got LSU, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and maybe Texas, all still to come.
and like three of those games are at home.
So the meat of the schedule is coming,
but they beat their first ranked team last night of the SEC.
They beat Alabama pretty handily at home.
I watched a little bit of that game.
And so now we get to see.
I mean, clearly Kentucky's good.
But like, we'll know in the next few weeks how good
because they're playing the elite of the SEC over the next three weeks.
I almost went.
I was going to buy a single ticket and just sit by myself
and I just couldn't get over there in time.
But I ended up watching the whole game at home.
I'm so into that team.
They're so fun.
Alabama went up early. Kentucky was looking pretty bad than a 12-0 run,
flipped the script, and Kentucky ran away with it.
But they're just a fun team to watch.
Georgia Amor didn't shoot a well last night.
But, man, that's, we've got Ron Howard, but she's right up there with her.
I wish she was playing here more than a year.
She's a lot.
She is a lot of fun to watch.
And this team, man, they're going to be, they're good and they're going to be real.
Kenny Brooks is like, you just watch the way he coaches.
He does an amazing job.
One person writes, Matt, what happens?
for real if we lose.
Well, it stinks.
We move on to the next game.
No, I mean, it stinks.
It stinks.
Like, we'll have to listen to, I mean, I can go ahead and tell you if we lose,
don't expect to see me online for at least 48 hours.
Is Ryan going to have to do the post-game show?
No, I'll do the post-game show.
But I'm not getting into my hog mentions if they were to lose.
You know, big picture if we lost, it would be an awful loss because they're bad.
but like the Tennessee win would keep it from being what I was worried could be like a back-breaking loss
because you got that win against Tennessee.
But, you know, now Kentucky's in a situation.
Again, let's just do the math.
We're four and three.
Just win at home against the three worst teams in the SEC, Arkansas, LSU and South Carolina.
And now you got seven wins, right?
Then you have Tennessee, Alabama, Auburn, and who's our other home?
home game.
Vandy.
Vandy.
Let's assume we win the Vandy game.
Now you're at eight conference wins.
Three games against the best teams, and then you're on the road at Old Miss, at Alabama,
at Texas, at Oklahoma, win one or two of those, and you're looking at a really good record.
So this is really more about just holding serve this game.
They're in a great spot, and really, I don't, I'm not that worried about a loss.
Not that it could happen, but it's very obvious we've already won the breakup.
I mean, sure.
I mean, if they win, congratulations.
You still suck.
Like, honestly.
I mean, Mark Pope just tied the record for most top 25 wins in a regular season,
and he still has four more games left where he could shatter that record.
If Arkansas wins, that 24 hours online, we'll have to eat a lot of crow.
I won't get to eat the nuggets.
I'm excited to cook.
That won't be fun.
But on Monday, Kentucky is still so much farther ahead of Arkansas with excitement that, oh, well,
congratulations, it sucked for us on Sunday.
But we're going to go continue to be excited about our season.
I saw online that Kentucky's SEC schedule from here out is the easiest of any team left in the ACC, or SEC, which basically means we're four and three with the hardest schedule of any of the teams that we've played so far.
Now, we still have, I mean, our draw made it to where we play two of the best teams in the SEC twice.
We get Alabama and Tennessee.
So, you know, it is what it is.
But nevertheless, I'm kind of with Drew.
It would stink to lose, but we're still in pretty much.
We just never really saw this scenario until the SEC play started.
No one thought they would be this down.
Would you still take 9-9-9, though, like you did last week before the Tennessee game?
I'm glad I didn't take it.
I genuinely think we're going to finish 10-and-8.
I just have that.
I think we're going to lose – I think we'll lose at Tennessee – or excuse me, we already – we won't.
I think we're going to lose at Alabama.
I think we're going to lose at least one of those home games against Tennessee, Alabama, and Auburn.
And then at Ole Miss, I think we lose Tuesday night at Ole Miss.
Don't they still have to go to Missouri, right?
And then between Texas, Oklahoma, and Missouri, I think we get one of those.
I think these road games, I don't know why it is we win the hardest ones and lose the other ones.
I just think these road games are all hard.
I really, I know Auburn's on the schedule, Tennessee, but I look at the games you just named Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, Ole Miss.
that can decide everything because all of those the spread's going to be like a point or two
they're all on the road they're all beatable teams if you can split those heck if you can win three
out of four that'll be enormous i'd take a split right now if you gave me a split in those four
four four i'd take a split right now because i think with a split you're a top four seed in the nca
tournament if you split Oklahoma Missouri Texas and old miss on the road when two you're a top
four seed in the tournament and then those are a quad one wins too those those you're right
Those are the games left for the rest of the year.
Who's next?
Dan is up next.
Dan, go ahead, Dan.
Hey, Matt, I would argue if you're drunk, you're not more booing.
You're more boozy.
I know it's awful, man.
Yeah, it was worse than you think.
I didn't hear what he said.
It wasn't worth hearing.
All right, I appreciate the call.
You get one miserable joke and then we move on.
Who's next?
is up next.
Luke.
Luke.
Hey, Matt, guys.
Just wanted to say
with this whole pal,
boo, cheers,
do nothing,
then I am brewing this man.
To hell with John Calipari.
This guy lost to Oakland and St.
Peter.
And did we forget
that this guy got out-coached
by Kevin Ollie
in a national pride game?
We did lose to Kevin Alley.
He didn't.
I mean,
come on.
This guy had more talent
than any.
in the history of college basketball for 10 years and got a whole one title out of it.
What a stud.
The most overrated coach in the history of college basketball is John Caldery.
And unfortunately, he was ours.
So screw John Caldery.
I can't stand him.
He was arrogant as hell.
He doesn't care about the company.
I appreciate the call.
There's a little much.
There's one side of the argument.
There's some people on that side.
Again, all these people, not one person said they would boo.
and I saw some people shaking their head yes on that.
It's all about how it's articulate.
By the way, Kentucky did get four All-Stars
in the NBA All-Star game last night.
That's great.
Anthony Davis, you probably would have guessed.
Carl Towns has made it.
Shea Gilgis Alexander has made it,
but then for the very first time,
Tyler Hero was named an All-Star last night.
There's video of him pacing.
He looked like me.
Shannon watching a UK basketball game.
He was like, he had his, literally, except for his shorts were way longer than I would wear.
But he had his hoodie on over his head, and he was just walking back and forth like this when they were going to announce.
And then when they hit it, he just started doing.
And I was like, man, that's me during the games.
And in theory should matter much less to me than you're making the All-Stra.
I'm happy for him, though.
Yeah, first time and well-deserved this year.
Yeah.
I do like that he cared.
Like, they always started to act like they don't care, but he could tell he cared.
Oh, he could very much care.
I got to show how little I know the NBA.
I didn't realize that he was having that special of a season.
I knew he was doing well, but I didn't know it was an All-Star type year.
That was huge for him.
Did anyone think when he committed here his 30th prospect or whatever?
You'd see the NBA All-Star one day?
He and Shay Gilges Alexander.
Think about it.
Those dudes weren't even McDonald's All-Americans.
And he came and, you know, when people make the argument,
Cal never developed players, those are two guys that make a pretty good argument that he did.
He could do that with the right dudes.
Who's next?
Peggy is next.
Peggy.
Go ahead, Peggy.
Hey, guys.
Good morning.
Good morning.
He said that Ellen's not coming to the game,
but I have it on good authority that she is in Lexington,
saying her best friend.
Oh, let's not.
Peggy, wait a minute, hang on.
Peggy has it on good authority.
Ellen's supposed to be sick.
Wow.
Peggy.
Peggy.
Yep.
She can be sick in Lexington.
Okay, well,
Anyway, on Instagram this morning,
Coach said,
Coach Pope said that they are wearing,
that the coaching team is wearing special shoes tonight.
Yeah, it's for the coaches versus cancers.
Cancer shoes, they're usually designed by kids.
Yes, they are, and then they're going to auction them off after.
That's very cool.
Yeah, I looked at Popes. They were neat. Yeah, that's something that started. I appreciate the call.
Well, Nike puts out these shoes, these Dorenbachers, that they take kids with terminal illness, and they design them.
And I have a couple pairs of them, and now that's extending to the world of coaches as a whole.
And so some kid in Kentucky, I think each designed the shoes the coaches will wear.
I think that's a really neat thing.
Yeah, I mean, usually they've done coaches versus cancer forever, and they'd wear sneakers.
But just recently they started letting the kids actually hand paint the shoes.
And I think that's so cool. Imagine just being a little kid, you're painting this.
there in your room and you look up on TV and Mark Pope's wearing it on the sideline.
That's got to be awesome for all of them.
It is awesome.
And, you know, I think in the article on the athletic today about Pope, it talked about,
it seems like every day he's doing another something absurdly nice, right?
Like who, I mean, in terms of good deeds, he couldn't seemingly do more.
Tell me about Stock to Mortgage.
Stockton Mortgage.
Can I read my read I got for today?
We probably should.
That's what we say.
Okay.
That's probably what they pay.
You're not ready, right?
You're stalling, basically.
You can't get his phone to turn on.
That droid won't even come on.
Heck with it.
You got it.
Stockton mortgage.
It's on now.
Oh, now it's on.
Oh, my goodness.
I mean, you know what time of show I'm going to do that.
I always have you do it in the 1130 hour, wondering if after 15 years you might remember.
Oh, come on.
Now it comes on.
I get ready to put it away.
If you don't say something quick, I'm going to break.
Stockton mortgage.
If you guys looking to buy this year, build this year,
cash out refinance, build a deck on the back of your head.
Now Stockton Mortgage should be your first phone call.
They're easy to work with.
They're all across Kentucky.
They have Stockton Mortgage right here in Louisville.
Give them a call.
You won't be disappointed.
Stockton Mortgage, NMLS, 8259, Equal Housing Lender.
Stockton.com.
They got their money's work today.
They got a lot of...
A lot of stalling.
I got a really good read, too.
I'll save it for Monday.
They probably wanted you to read that.
Yeah, save it for the future.
Save for Monday.
Take a break.
Be right back.
This is KSR.
Last night, a blown call changed the game.

I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff.
Like being an internet famous referee.
We're in the middle of a game.
This lineback coach is.
This linebacker walks up to me, he goes,
Hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Quarterback on office blue of 42.
Hey, rep, my mama want you to wave at her.
What?
Where's she at?
Hey, Ms. Parker.
Listen to the Clifford show on the Iheart radio app,

What's up, fam?
This Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm C.J. Toledano.
podcast point game is about defining the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the
lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nasree.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night bases on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nass would get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
He run up the court licking his fingers why he got the ball.
Like, after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick.
Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball.
So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you.

The biggest decisions.
If you're going to look at stats and numbers,
he has no shot at making this.
World Cup team. And the truth about the U.S. national team.

Orderback, it is Kentucky Sports Radio. I hit Whiskey Thief.
Whiskey Thief on the Kentucky Bourbon Craf.
Trail working farm in Franklin County and now a tasting room here in Louisville right in
Newloo off Nanny Goat Strutt Road 859-280-2287. Thank you folks for a great crowd here today in
Louisville. By the way they say, Shannon, it just came out that the, like you said, the helicopter
was flying in the wrong place and the one person and whatever was doing two jobs.
That's the crazy thing to me is that, you know, for a job that,
important, you got one person
trying to do two people's jobs.
Yeah, one person was supposed to do planes and one helicopter
and they were left to have to do both.
Yeah, that's not good at all.
That's got a home. I mean, you know,
people's lives lost because of that.
You can't do that. 859-280-2287.
A couple other things real quick.
Maxwell Harrison named the MVP
of Senior Bowl defensive
players practice so far
down in the Senior Bowl.
Now they're saying they've played his way
into a first round pick. You know, we kind of got cheated. He got hurt, didn't play it
much this season, but obviously they knew going into the season he was going to be a high
draft pick. Now he's improved his stock even more with what he's been doing down there.
Dionne Walker's kind of like gotten himself into shape. What happens, Drew, if after that terrible
football season, we have two players going to first round? I mean, Dumas Johnson might not be
first round, but he'll be up there high too. It's going to stink, especially with the secondary
thing, because it's looking like Harrison's going to have a good spot in the NFL.
We're going to be looking at Carrington Valentine,
Andrew Phillips, Max Harrison, all with starting roles in the NFL
in the years they played here.
Mike Edwards?
He was a part of some good teams.
I mean, we're going to see NFL players that we didn't get as much out of as we wanted here
in Lexington, even though Harrison had a great year two years ago.
And can I quickly say, will you say I was right on the drones?
Yeah, well, what was the latest that came out on it?
It wasn't drone.
It was just, they were all approved and it was.
Yeah, sure.
I mean, I didn't take a strong stance on that.
We were pretty pro like we're being invaded by...
I don't think...
That might have been more Drew than me on this particular story.
No, I was worried what they're looking for.
Yeah.
Well...
Sure, it was drawn.
Okay.
I just, I did.
I told you not to worry about it.
You were worried about it.
Who's up next?
Until next time when it's actually aliens.
Josh is up next.
Josh, go ahead, Josh.
All right, guys.
We've got two quick things.
First off, I think everyone misunderstood Cal.
It wasn't that he knows that Ellen isn't going to come.
It's just he hasn't seen her.
And then the other thing is he was always famous for at least one time every season he would get ejected from a game.
If we think that's this game?
True does.
Been saying it for a month.
I want odds on it.
I'll bet on it right now.
I mean, he can't just go out and get ejected.
But if they're getting beat bad, I would not be shocked if he goes looking for it.
Yeah.
Well, you know, I heard the guys on field of 68 last night said,
we're going to tell how much Arkansas players like how hard they play this game.
Like, do they want him to be embarrassed or not?
Which I thought was kind of an interesting point.
Like, if you really have a lot of pride in your coach, you know how much this one will mean for him.
So you would probably give like that extra ounce of effort.
Who's next?
Tammy is next.
Tammy, go ahead, Tammy.
By the way, this is also a Jackson Roberts.
Hang on, Tammy.
Hang on, Tammy.
Hang on, Tammy.
I love me.
Hang on.
All right, it doesn't matter.
Oh, sorry.
It's also a Jackson Robinson return game.
Yeah.
Like Jackson
With bad memory.
It did not go well.
He didn't even talk about it.
So apparently his Arkansas time was brutally terrible.
So, you know, for everybody else, this is a cow game.
In Jackson Robinson's mind, this is a different game.
So he may have that exact same incentive just in a different way.
Go ahead, Tammy.
Okay, I just want to say, if you guys are on the air, I am listening every day.
I love me some Matt Jones show.
Thank you, Tammy.
So, but here's my point.
So you're welcome.
Nobody has mentioned this.
This is a rhetorical question.
I'll go fast.
Why would any big blue fan want to boo Calipari?
I have another plan.
Wait a minute.
Hang on a second.
Who said that over there?
Somebody was agreed.
Was it you?
Okay.
Go ahead, Tammy.
Say what's your plan?
Okay.
My plan is they announced Calipari as the head,
coach for Arkansas.
Everybody stands up, gives him a standing ovation, and one, two, three, thank you for leaving.
Oh, we're getting booed.
Look at where we are because he left.
Oh, wow.
Boo and Tammy.
Oh, wow.
You know, Tammy, it's interesting.
Did we get it?
Oh, you're saying make it an ironic thank you.
Like, thank you for leaving.
Is that what you mean?
Yeah, irony's tough even on phone calls, and I think it's going to be really hard to do in front of 24,000 people.
But, Tammy, I understand what you're saying.
We are better off, but, well, let me just say this.
Would you give him a round of applause just because you think he did well here?
Not tomorrow.
Okay.
All right.
So are you going to the game, Tammy?
No.
Oh, okay, I understand.
Well, Tammy, thank you for listening to the show.
And I appreciate your idea.
I like your sort of sarcastic cynicism coming there.
Okay.
Or we could say thank you and go into we love Pope.
We love Pope.
Thank you, Tim.
Just got to recover that phone call.
Appreciate the call, Tammy.
Love it.
There we go.
So we've had the spectrum.
We've had boo as loud as you want.
We've had cheer and say thank you.
Let's talk about the actual game.
Shannon.

score going to be tomorrow for Kentucky and Arkansas? I think Kentucky cover. They win. I think they cover
and I think I'm going to say 8671,
Kentucky by 15.
I'm going to say Jackson Robinson has another big game tomorrow.
15 would be quite a victory, right?
I mean, you look at what Arkansas has done.
A lot of their games, they're down 15, 16 points.
Yeah.
So that would be the same friend.
I think this is going to be an awesome day to be in Lexington tomorrow.
Our pregame show starts at 630 at KS Bar.
Come on out and see us.
I think that place is going to be fun all day.
I think Lexington's going to be fun.
Here's what I'd say, whatever you decide to do, whether you boo, whether you cheer, whatever.
Also, enjoy that these are kind of the good old days back again in terms of the feeling that you have about this team.
Tomorrow's a good turn your page moment.
We've all talked a lot about Cal since he left.
Honestly, especially if we win tomorrow, that page can completely turn because I do think we are much better off now than we were one year ago.
And for that, I'm excited.
I think we win tomorrow and I think tomorrow night will be a lot of fun.
