Hour number two, Kentucky Sports Radio, 859-2-80-2287. The text machine is 772-774-5-254.
Starting point is 00:01:16 Tomorrow, the U.K. Vandy game is, it's 7 o'clock, right, Ryan? Correct. Yeah, 7 o'clock game. Yeah, so our pre-game show will be at 4.30. Only three home games left this year. It's crazy. season. It's been an awesome season, right? It feels like it's kind of flown by, though, doesn't it? Dude, I can't believe there's three weeks left, six games left, and then we're looking to March Madden's it has flown by.
Starting point is 00:01:39 It really has. Text machine is 772-774-5254. One person writes, Matt, I love you, but sometimes you sell us out on the left. See, Shannon, I get criticism from everyone. Yeah, it doesn't matter what you say. Doesn't matter what you say. Donald Trump should say things. He hasn't even mentioned the floods, and yes, he should be there. Well, he shouldn't be there. I disagree with it. He'd be in the way. He should say something, but if he hasn't yet, I bet he will.
Starting point is 00:02:06 I can't imagine he won't. You know, look, even the worst presidents, when there's a disaster, they'll say something. He'll say something. I'll take up for him. I bet he says it. But he definitely should acknowledge it and say something, but I bet he will. If he does. So, Governor Andy made a comment.
Starting point is 00:02:25 And he had his governor jacket on. See, I hate that. I saw that. Yeah. Why do you got, well, no, did he have his name on it? Do you have his name on it? I'm sure. I'm sure it's the one that's got his name on it. You have these governor.
Starting point is 00:02:37 Why do they do that? Why can't, why? Well, let me ask you. Okay, so you know I don't like the jacket with the name on it. Somebody wrote me, though, and said, Drew, it's okay to have the name on it during a disaster. Do you think you can have the name on it during the disaster? Well, I mean, what's the difference? I think you either like having your name on your shirt or you don't.
Starting point is 00:02:58 I don't. I don't think the circumstances change that you're wearing your name on your jacket. Then I'm a man tied all the time. We know you're the governor, right? Like, we know you're the, like people, Michael Jordan wouldn't walk around, Shannon, with a jacket that said Michael Jordan on it. Yeah. Would he? Well, I mean, I guess it is kind of like his uniform, though, right? It's got his name on it. It looks more official. But it didn't used to be like that. You know. We didn't used to do that. Did governors used to, like, did Paul Patton walk around with the jacket that said Paul Patton on it, Ryan? I think it seems like Chris Christie started that trend. This is a new thing. The presidents and the governors and everybody wearing their name. I don't think that used to happen. I don't. I don't remember it happening.
Starting point is 00:03:40 It's like who in this state at this point, Ryan, doesn't know who Andy Beshear is. Anybody? You think anybody doesn't know who he is now? I'd say most people know the name. I don't know if everybody could recognize him. So maybe that's why he feels like he's going to where he goes. Wait a minute.
Starting point is 00:03:54 You don't think everybody could recognize the governor? I'd say there's a couple of... What percentage of the state you think could recognize him by face and say that's the governor? I'd say it's pretty high. I'd say 80%. Only 80. You think there's one in five Kentuckians who wouldn't recognize the governor. Sadly, I think that's probably true.
Starting point is 00:04:16 I want to do this. I want to take Andy out on the streets and go, do you know who this is? It is an interesting question. Because, like, Trump, the number's like 99% who would know who he is. but the governor isn't on TV as much, but this governor, Drew, was on TV every day during COVID, right? So, like, this governor uniquely, I think, like, I don't know if one and five, if four and five people would have recognized Matt Bevin, but this one's been on TV a lot. Do you think it's one in five Kentuckyans, Drew, you think wouldn't know who he is? I mean, if we're talking, he doesn't have his name on his jacket and you pass.
Starting point is 00:04:56 him in Kroger, I think a lot of people would walk right by him and not notice. I think that's true. What if he had on a suit, though, and he looked like a professional? I grant you, if he had a hat on, he looked like a slub, people might not recognize him.
Starting point is 00:05:09 But let's say he's standing in a suit and you see a picture of Andy Bashir in a suit and somebody said, who is this person? What percentage do you think would say that it's the governor of Kentucky, Andy Bashir? I'd say that scenario is closer to 90, but just passing him on the street,
Starting point is 00:05:25 I think a lot more people, just different circumstances. You're not trying to guess it might be like, well, that got to look familiar. So, see, basically he's wearing that for the other 10%. So 100% people will recognize them when it says Governor Andy Beshear. There you go. Okay, so, Shady, so you're saying this is for the one in 10 people who don't recognize him in a suit. This is for the most disconnected, like part of our state.
Starting point is 00:05:48 All right. That's interesting. So it's for the lowest common. In case you don't know who I am, it says it right here. like anyone who's listening to this show right now. This is if you want on the text machine, 772, 774-5-254, if you're listening right now and you don't know and you can be honest what Andy Beshear looks like, I would be interested in you saying that because someone who listened to this show clearly knows something about what's going on, right, Ryan, because we talk about what's going on.
Starting point is 00:06:18 Yeah, yeah, we mentioned Andy Beshear. But if you honestly would think, like, I don't know what he looks like, I would find that. But think about that though. I mean, like, he, that's a man of the people. He is catering to the bottom 10% to make sure that they know who he is. Like, that's taken care of everybody, right? It's not ignoring the bottom 10%. Okay. So now you're making me feel bad. You're acting like he's, like he's, he's for the little man who doesn't recognize him. What's the thing? He's putting jam on the little man's bread or what was it? Nest, wasn't it? Yeah, something like that. Well, all right. So I'd be interesting to see. I think a lot of governors. people wouldn't know. But I feel like he was on TV so much. So let's go, Drew, for a second, to the SEC tournament. We talked about this. Kentucky's now an eight-seat.
Starting point is 00:07:03 If the SEC tournament started today, Kentucky would play Thursday at 1 o'clock, probably against Mississippi State. That's how the tournament is kind of set up right now. But Mississippi State is only right behind this. And if you look at the schedule, it could flip, at which point then if we were the nine, we'd play at one. o'clock on Wednesday in literally the first game of the tournament in Nashville. It is interesting.
Starting point is 00:07:32 If you look at the bracket, it's almost certain we're going to be playing those one o'clock games the entire time, like literally through the finals. What do you make of the SEC draw as it stands now for Kentucky? It's just crazy that Wednesday's in the conversation. I know it's hard to train our brains that the tournament's different and the SEC's different, but we were so spoiled with that noon game on Friday as the one seed for many years and to even think that you could be playing on Wednesday seems crazy. And also everything's so clumped up.
Starting point is 00:08:05 I mean, just win a few games. Like you're only a game back from Tennessee. I think you're only a game and a half back from Ole Miss, although they'd have a tiebreaker. But then right beneath you, there's a lot of teams right on your back. So I think a lot of it can still shake up with six games left to play. That's why just finishing the job against LSU, Vandy, and Oklahoma could keep you out of that Wednesday game if they could do it.
Starting point is 00:08:27 Yeah, it is, it's crazy to think that. And now, if we're at eight, you'd get in the quarter finals right and you'd see Auburn, and I watched most of that Auburn, Alabama game. They are good. I mean, they're the best team in the country, don't you think? Would you put Auburn there? Oh, absolutely, because they showed it when Alabama cut a nine-point lead and tied it, Auburn just put the pedal to the medal, man.
Starting point is 00:08:49 They just totally took control the rest of the game and won out by nine going away. So, yeah, they're the best team. They are really good. I mean, to play at Alabama in a game that height with that crowd and to lead from start to finish. That one moment, Alabama tied it. Otherwise, Auburn led the entire game. They completely dominated that game. And Alabama is really good, too.
Starting point is 00:09:16 but Auburn Drew can Bruce Pearl that Bruce Pearl win a title? Would that not be insane? I think Bruce might be getting his ring this year and if Kentucky were to play that eight game, beat Mississippi
Starting point is 00:09:32 State and then lose to Auburn it would have to... It would stink as a fan that was excited about the weekend, but I want to remind everyone Kentucky has lost five of its last six SEC tournament games So if they beat Mississippi State, I'm popping champagne in Nashville, and then we'll worry about Auburn when we get there.
Starting point is 00:09:50 The tournament, our trips down there have been so bad lately. I want to win one game. If it's on Wednesday, hell yeah, we won a game, and then we'll worry about Auburn. I know that sounds bad as Kentucky basketball, and you're lower in the bar, but I just want to win a game in Nashville again. There are so many people who are riding me, Shannon,
Starting point is 00:10:07 thinking I'm way overestimating Kentucky by saying 80 to 90%. Oh, really? So they think a significant number or less? They think it's like 60 or 70. So we've got to think about, you know, the people that, the foreigners that are living here in Kentucky, I don't know if they would recognize who Andy was. Some people just don't pay attention. What was the voter turnout?
Starting point is 00:10:28 That's a very good point about foreigner. There's a lot of immigrants and people who maybe don't speak English. Like, they might not know who he is. But, like, still, though, that's not a huge percentage. of the population. Yeah, so what's the other people's excuse? They don't pay attention. They don't pay attention.
Starting point is 00:10:50 Yeah. You know, okay, so what if you went on UK's campus? How many of those students would know who he is? They're probably the ones that don't pay attention. That's what I'm saying. They might not pay attention the most, you know? They might be really a low percentage there. I'll tell you what.
Starting point is 00:11:06 That's what we're going to do. Where's Mario? Is he there? He just stepped away, but he's here. He's around here. I see you're going to tell Mario. That's his sense. job today. I want him to get a picture of Andy Beshear. Let's do this. I want him to get a picture
Starting point is 00:11:19 of Andy Bashir. Who else do we want him to do? Mark Pope, Rick Petino, and give me one other person. Guy Fury. Guy Fury. Let's see. Hang on. Who would be somebody random? Mario's here. All right, so we'll do. I want to do a picture of Andy Bashir, Mark Pope, Rick Petit. and then give me somebody that kids would know but that like shouldn't be famous.
Starting point is 00:11:46 Like who's somebody. Dave Portnoy. Okay. I like that. All right. So let's do that. He, I want him to get a picture of Pope,
Starting point is 00:11:59 Bashir, Patino and Portnoy. Take it to UK's campus. Just blindly show people on video the picture and say, who is this? And let's see who is known the most out of that group.
Starting point is 00:12:13 I'm going to say, who do you think wins? Pope wins, right? Pope will win. Because we're on UK's campus. Okay. So between Bashir, Portnoy and Patino who wins. Portnoy. So I threw him in.
Starting point is 00:12:29 You think so? Yes, because I think the results are going to be sad to all of us. And I think Amy's last. I'm excited, Shannon, I'm excited to see who wins, don't you? Pope's number one, clearly. But now the other three, I think Patino. Okay, I'll tell you what, take Pope out. Pope out because that may be too easy.
Starting point is 00:12:45 Bashir, Portnoy, Petino, and then give me one more. Give me some, a Kentucky in that people could or should know. What's a basketball player that didn't play that long ago that we love, but that younger people might not know? Patrick Patterson, okay? All right, so I want, that's what I want. I want Portnoy, Patterson, Bashir Patino. Drew, rank them 1, 2, 3, 4.
Starting point is 00:13:13 And by the way, you can't put Patterson in a jersey. He just has to be like a normal guy, okay? What do you think? Drew, what order? Start at the bottom. It's going to break my heart, but I think they're going to struggle with Patrick Patterson, which is going to be a very old.
Starting point is 00:13:29 I agree. Unfortunately, I mean, it's going to hurt to watch, but I think he'll be last. Okay, how about this? Let's not do Patterson. Let's make it break your heart even more. Let's do Gilchrist. Oh, no.
Starting point is 00:13:40 No, I'll cry if they don't know Michael Kid Gilchrist. Gilchrist, take Patterson out, Mario, Gilchrist. All right, so now, Gilchrist, Portnori, Bashar, Patino. What's the order? Go ahead, Drew. I'm going to do Gilchrist again. You're going to still do Gilchrist last? I just, I mean, haven't interviewed some, like, players,
Starting point is 00:14:02 and they're talking about their best favorite Kentucky player ever is like Shea. I just worry about people going too far back, even though Gilchrist shouldn't be that far back. 13 years ago, so these students were like 6, 7, 7, 8. That's why it's a name. So make your prediction. In order. Gilchrist last, then Bashir, then Patino, then Portnoy. Portnoy at the top, sadly.
Starting point is 00:14:23 Ryan, what's your guess? That's exactly what I was going to say. Portnoy is one, Patino 2, Andy 3, Gilchrist 4. Yeah, I'm going to go Portnoy, Bashir, Patino, Gilchrist. What about you, shit? I think Petino is higher. I think he's probably, like, next to Bashir, he's probably number two. So you're going Bashir, Patino, Portnoy, Gilchrist?
Starting point is 00:14:50 Yeah, Gilchrist is still last on the list. Yeah, I cannot believe Gilchrist is last. He's not in a jersey. You know, if he gets to wear his jersey like Andy does, then they're going to know. Okay, I'll tell you what. I'll even, let's give Gilchris advantage. He can wear his jersey, but Mario, you can't show Kentucky. It can just be him in a jersey.
Starting point is 00:15:08 Okay? And no reference to like the, Yeah, just the shoulder straps. That's it. Like his head shot for a thing. Yeah. Is that word for everybody? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:18 No, Anthony Davis is in the background. He can be in a jersey, but he can't, don't show Kentucky on it. I'm going to be interested to see what happens. Me too. I'm very interested. The Kentucky Chamber is working on important issue Kentuckyans are facing. The Kentucky Chamber is tackling big challenges like child care access, barriers to work, and housing affordability.
Starting point is 00:15:36 By championing solutions, their strength, communities and helping Kentucky families thrive. Their work supports a brighter future where business and communities across the state grow together. If you want to learn more or get involved, visit kYchamber.com today. And Mario, you got to have like half men and half women because I think that's part of it too. If you just do all men, like you got to have both genders and let's see what happens. I'm actually more looking forward to this video than any of the video.
Starting point is 00:16:03 I kind of want to keep Pope in there just because I want to see the person who doesn't know who Mark Pope is. There might be like one or two who doesn't know who that is. Mario, if there's someone you think wouldn't know Pope, I would be interested if anyone doesn't know Pope. Yeah. There might be. There might be somebody's on UK's campus who doesn't know Pope,
Starting point is 00:16:18 but he'd be first. And I think all these other people could go either way. We'll take a break. Be right back. It's KSR. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending, opinions are flying,

Starting point is 00:18:17 What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano and our podcast Point Game is about defying the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never. ever seen before. And he knows. Without Luca and Austin Reeves,
Starting point is 00:18:37 I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything
Starting point is 00:18:53 he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nass would get that thing. that man, hell get the flying, he running up the court, licking his fingers
Starting point is 00:19:06 while he got the ball, like, after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app,
Starting point is 00:19:18 Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, guys? This is Clivert Taylor the Fourth. And on my podcast, The Cliverts Show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff, like being an internet famous referee. We're in the middle of a game.
Starting point is 00:19:32 This linebacker. You know these kids. This linebacker walks up to me. He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Time out. Quarterback on office blue of 42. Hey, rep, my mama want you to wave at her.
Starting point is 00:19:45 What? Where's she at? Hey, Ms. Parker. Listen to the Clippers show on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Welcome back. It is Teggy Sports Radio. my mom says there's no way, Ryan, that 80% of Kentuckyans would know Bashir.
Starting point is 00:20:11 Yeah. She's... She said no way. I mean... No way. I just told Drew, my son Gavin's 27 years old. He wouldn't know any of those people that we just mentioned. He wouldn't know any of them.
Starting point is 00:20:22 He wouldn't know any of them? Nope. No, you showing a picture? He wouldn't... How many would Josiah know who's 70? He would probably know Petino and Portnoy. Yeah. He wouldn't know Michael Kiggil.
Starting point is 00:20:35 Chris? Would he know Bashir? Eh? Does he have his jacket on? No, he don't have his jacket. If he has jacket, everybody would know it. That's the point. The point is, does he need the jacket?
Starting point is 00:20:48 I don't know if he would know who Andy was or not. That's, you know, a high school senior. One person writes, Matt, what if Mario put your picture on it? I'd be last of that group, although I worry about my man, Gilchrist's group. I'm very worried. Now that the more I think about it, I wonder if like, that's why when you threw that question out there, I almost said John Wall.
Starting point is 00:21:11 We all kind of laugh at that. But that was 15 years ago. I don't know how many kids on campus would know. I think Wall, I think Wall would be known. Patterson, now that I think about it, wouldn't be known at all. Yeah, but you got to remember, like, these college kids were three when he played here.
Starting point is 00:21:26 Yeah, that's what I mean. So I don't think they'd like to watch John Wall. I don't know if I would be behind, I would be behind Portnoy-Patino and Bush. and Bashir, but I might be ahead of Gilchrist. I'm worried about how Gilchrist is going to do now that I think about it. Zero percent. You're going to have to be a basketball fan to know Gilchrist, right?
Starting point is 00:21:46 Like, you're going to have to be, like, it's got to be a kid who grew up being a huge U.K. fan. Yeah, that's it. Just the average. And out-of-state kids, they're out-of-state kids are going to not going to know who he is, right? That's true. Out-of-state kids may not know any of them but Portnoy. Yeah, they might not.
Starting point is 00:22:03 Also, Pornoy and Andrew the exact same age, and I threw him in because I think it's going to be embarrassing how many people know Portnoy and not the governor. Yeah. Yeah, I think you're right. But, you know, I think we went to the mall, it'd be the other way around. They wouldn't know Portnoy, but they would know the governor. You know, just where you're going to ask. No, no, yeah. Now, if you went out in the state, Portnoy is last.
Starting point is 00:22:27 Would you agree? If you just went out like to the average person in the state, then I think Petino gets way. up there. Petino is held more by going out in the state than anything. And Bashir would too. I actually think if you went to the average Kentucky in, I think it might be Patino, Bashir, Gilchrist, Portnoy. Do you agree with that? I think that may be right. Gilchre was going to break my heart. It's going to be hard to watch. It's going to be hard to watch. Who's next? Earl. Earl, go ahead, Earl. Hey guys, it's got a few things here, if you don't mind.
Starting point is 00:23:06 First of all, I think I've got, I think that Travis Perry is truly the answer to this team, finishing out the year strong, and possibly a championship for this team. If everything we've seen going into this season, you know, from last year, Travis Perry just kills people, right? He was hitting 90% of three-pointers in practice. I don't want, I don't want to be. I love Travis Perry. You really think the key to winning a national championship is Travis Perry,
Starting point is 00:23:39 who hasn't scored more than six points in a game this year? Absolutely. Absolutely. And I'll tell you why. If you watch that game, we didn't lose by much. We were controlling the game until he played horrible. I think Kentucky people have gave him this free pass because he's a Kentucky kid. He played absolutely horrible.
Starting point is 00:23:58 But if he just hit some of the kids. His wide open shots, he missed layups, he missed three-pointers wide open. He faded away, three foot away from the guy, and this is it. All you need is the foot normally to hit the shot. All he has to do is hit the shot. Yeah, but that's like saying, I mean, I agree, but that's like saying all you have to do is be perfect, and we all can be Michael Jordan. No, no, no.
Starting point is 00:24:25 We haven't seen, I love Travis Perry. I love Travis Perry, but what have you seen him do? at UK that makes you think he can be a guard that leads you to a national championship right now. Because the games we have lost have been by very minimal except for a couple. But when he hits, if he scores 10 points that game, we win easy. Because Texas would have gave up if he's hitting his shots, plus it gets in his head. He starts playing horrible on defense. Even if he plays horrible on defense, if he's hitting shots, then he just open shots.
Starting point is 00:24:57 We win games. He doesn't have to be the best defender. he doesn't have to be Michael Jordan just hit your shots we win this game and this is what he's supposed to do like I appreciate to call I've got to appreciate to call I got to move forward do you agree with that Drew
Starting point is 00:25:12 I love Region 2 and Travis Perry I have no idea with the point that guy was trying to make I mean if anyone on the team made their shots they'd win right Kobe Brea went 0 for 6 if he makes shots they win that call hurt my head a little bit I don't know I want I want to get behind it I like it I love Travis Perry I just don't understand the logic
Starting point is 00:25:30 there that he's yeah yeah if Kentucky hit more shots of course they'd win did I miss something let's go to Mike I just wanted you to say it instead of me Mike go ahead Mike hey guys I have it going I just wanted you I just want to point out something like that and you know Drew made the point and they make shots they win you know and that is true because it covers up a lot of I think if you if you look back at that Tennessee game they got every defensive rebound on Tennessee mess
Starting point is 00:26:08 Yes. They didn't get any against Texas, and that's just zero percent. That's not acceptable. And I don't, I mean, could you imagine Petino's press conference after that? I mean, I think you make a really good point about the rebounding is an issue. And, like, it's been an issue. Now, there are some games where they've been really good, and then you're exactly right. I think that's a fair point.
Starting point is 00:26:34 I appreciate the call. 859-2-80-2287. There's quite a series of conversations. I'm now like, I want to have the answers for Mario like right now on this. Is Michael K. Gilchrist going to get 20%? Oh, no. No. 10%?
Starting point is 00:26:54 Come on. There's going to be kids. We won a national title with him. 13 years ago. Yeah, when they were four. All right. We'll be right back. T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney.
Starting point is 00:27:08 Call T.J. He'll make them pay. Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. Welcome back, Kentucky Sports Radio. 859-280-2287. People have strong opinions on this picture game, Shannon. I like this. Yeah, I can't wait to see the results.
Starting point is 00:27:26 We'll do it at UK, and then I actually think it would be interesting to do, like, just with the general population. Be interesting to maybe do it at a UK game and see what the reaction was. Patino would get almost 100% and not. knowledge at a UK game. But do you think the average fan at a UK game Ryan would know Gilchrist
Starting point is 00:27:43 walking in the door? Depends on the age. You know, the younger fans aren't going to know. Well, the average age is what? So you can figure this out. Whoever runs... Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:54 Mario and Billy walked in the studio and I asked both of those guys. I said, would you know Michael Kit Gilchrist if you saw him? Billy said, I would only know him because he just did the show with us about a month ago or two months ago,
Starting point is 00:28:03 or two months ago, or whatever he did that Whiskey Thief show. I'm looking at Mario's photos. They're good photos. Even the Petino photo. It's not a basketball. It's just a headshot. It's just a tie in his face.
Starting point is 00:28:14 I think there's going to be a lot of people that miss several of these. Gilchrist's special. I'm looking forward to it. Nice job. One person writes, Matt, did you see the Coach Cow documentary last night? Jim Host takes a shot at you, and I wondered your thoughts. I did not see it. Has anybody seen it?
Starting point is 00:28:33 Does anybody know what he said? I didn't even know it came out last night. I don't know. I've not seen it yet. Yeah, I didn't see it. I don't know if that one's going to make it to my TV at any point. That's Mr. Jim Host, by the way. Is it still Mr. Jim Host if he's taking shots at me?
Starting point is 00:28:48 No, no. Yeah, Ryan, you got to defend your board. Yeah, Ryan, you got to take a side. Do you want me or Jim Host? You got to decide. I'm taking Matt Jones, but I still refer to him as Mr. Jim Host. Shannon, that's Mr. Matt Jones. Yeah, Mr. Matt Jones, sir.
Starting point is 00:29:02 Yeah, show him some of respect. I mean, if it's in the Cal documentary, it's got to be something like we ran Cal off, which is nonsense. and that, I mean, if that's what he said, it's nonsense. But again, I was saying if you make $9 million a year and you can't take mild criticism from a radio host when you lose in the first round to a 14 and a 15 seed, then this isn't the job for you. Right. It's just not. If that's, like, and that's, there's no shame in that.
Starting point is 00:29:34 But like, if you can't, then this isn't the job for you. what are you going to say right uh you were talking about the cow documentary stuff so has it come out when he won here at rup is that episode i don't know i've seen a lot of clips from the patino one but i haven't seen any from the cow one patino one's had a couple really good clips the one that just came out is the kentucky game oh it is why i that one's not for me okay really rip off my fingers i don't know if anybody sees it i don't know what jim host said i don't even know jim host i've met him one time and uh would you recognize him if we showed you a picture yeah i would recognize jimbo's i would reckon i made him one time and and he um well i may actually twice once he was very nice
Starting point is 00:30:16 and then the second time he was very like sort of aggressive with me and i you know because he's a legend in this industry i didn't want to argue with him so i just was like hey good to see you man and kept going but um yeah i don't really know him so i i don't i don't know uh draft kings let's do our picks of some games tonight. We're playing on Wednesday, which we've been playing Tuesday most of years, but we are Wednesday. So Texas A&M is at Mississippi State. Texas A&M, Drew, is seventh in the country right now. Mississippi State's a two and a half point favorite.
Starting point is 00:30:49 This will be a battle. Who you got down in Starkville? I'm going to lean Mississippi State, but A&M is very good. That's why it spreads only two. I watched their game against Arkansas. I mean, Wade Taylor in Year 9 looks good, but I'm going to, to say Mississippi State gets it done just because they're the home team. Right.
Starting point is 00:31:07 Don't look now, but Texas A&M could flirt with a one C in the NCAA tournament if things go the right way. You know, that's crazy. If you want us to get a buy in the SEC tournament, we kind of need to root for A&M tonight, honestly. Right, because Mississippi State is eighth. Because Mississippi State is ninth. It's not, we're eight, they're nine.
Starting point is 00:31:24 So if we, if you want us to get a buy, we kind of need Buzz Williams to do a waltz down there, Shannon, and Starkville tonight. Yeah. I think A&M wins the game. I think that's what's going to happen, so we'll see. I'm going to take A&M. I think they're good this year. You go to Draft Kings, use promo code KSR,
Starting point is 00:31:42 and Bet 5 get 150 bonus bets. That's your Draft Kings pick of the night. Also, by the way, Kansas is 17 and 8, ranked 23rd. This is the team people thought could win the national championship at BYU. By the way, they are like slipping, slipping, slipping, slipping. in the, I think they're a sixth seat in the Bracketology now, and if they lose tonight, the rest of their schedule's
Starting point is 00:32:05 really hard. Who's up next? L.D. How are you, LD? Turn your radio down, LD, if you want to talk. At D-Y-U. All right, hey, all right, let's a turn down. Let's go to Ann. Ann, go ahead, Ann. Ann? You're doing a good job, Shannon.
Starting point is 00:32:30 You're doing a good job, Brownie. Who's now what's next? I'm just going to, I can't help. but they don't talk. Rick. Rick, go ahead, Rick. Hey, guys. I got a couple questions for you, and then I'll listen to what your answers are. With what's going on in Auburn this year
Starting point is 00:32:46 and Pearl having his team at the top and people thinking they're going to win the national championship, if he does win at Auburn, what do you think the chances of Indiana back in the brink's truck up and coming and parking in his yard? But why would he leave? Why would he leave, though? Why would he leave?
Starting point is 00:33:06 I mean, one of the things that happens when a guy wins a national championship at a school, the rationale to go to another school goes away. If you're Bruce Pearl and you win a national championship at Auburn and you got it rolling at Auburn and the SEC is the best conference, why in the world do you go to the train wreck at Indiana? Cash. He goes for the cash. But Auburn will give him the same money. I don't care.
Starting point is 00:33:32 I don't care how much. Let me tell you something, sir. I don't care how much Indiana offers him. Auburn will match it. Yeah. Well, I think that he made look at it going that the SEC is going to be so strong in the coming years that he could dominate more in the Big Ten, and they're going to give him anything he wants.
Starting point is 00:33:53 And if Auburn wins a title, they'll give him the same thing. Indiana fans need to process something. All right. Let me just give Indiana fans a little bit of a reality check. All right. There are a lot of jobs that have come open since yours came open that are better than yours. Look at Kentucky. I think we got the right coach.
Starting point is 00:34:15 But like we got turned out. Indiana is not a good job anymore. Indiana is not a powerhouse program in the eyes of anybody under the age of 40. So y'all going to have to go get somebody and hope it works. You hired Mike Woodson last time because nobody else wanted you. Bruce Pearls at Auburn, I'm going to give you a little secret. Auburn's is good, if not a job than Indiana is right now. Their environment's better.
Starting point is 00:34:42 I hope he stays at Auburn. I mean, I'm an SEC-UK guy. And I'm just thinking ahead of what they, you know, because I've been hearing that they want him so bad. But then I'm looking at North Carolina and the dumpster fire over there. And I'm wondering the kid, the kid that just signed that we went after, if they dump Herbert Davis, if that boy decides to lead, we got a lead in on him with the kids.
Starting point is 00:35:11 I don't know what happened to with Herbert. Yeah, maybe. I mean, I don't know. I appreciate the call. You know, NIL's changed all this a lot to where if he's getting the money, he may just decide to stay. But we'll see what happens with Herbert. They've been a huge disappointment as well.
Starting point is 00:35:26 Volunteers of America, Mid-States, as part of Volunteers of America. That's VOA. Founded 125 years ago, Volunteers of America is the oldest nonprofit in the country, and it's our region's largest provider of human services. Every day, more than 600 VOA mid-state professionals show up to help whatever people in need. And this year, Louisville Metro broke ground on the new communities care campus in downtown Louisville. Starting point is 00:35:57 learn about the new location in Louisville. It's VOA mid.org or call 502-6-3-6-0771, VOA-Mid.org. We'll be right back. Matt, Ryan, Drew, and Herbert. This is KSR. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind.

And we're still chasing it. And we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person

Starting point is 00:38:11 Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows without Luca and Austin. And Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the
Starting point is 00:38:34 lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers why he got. at the bar like, you go through a training camp with that Isaiah, you figure it out real quick.
Starting point is 00:39:00 Get your ass up and down the court and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, guys? This is Clever Taylor the 4th. And on my podcast, The Cliverts Show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff. Like being an internet famous referee. We're in the middle of a game. This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me, he goes, hey, ref, my mom wanted.
Starting point is 00:39:24 you to wave at her. What? Time out. Quarterback on office blue with 42. Hey, Rhett. My mama want you to wave at her. What? Where's she at?
Starting point is 00:39:39 Hey, Miss Parker. Listen to the Clippers show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Why'd you play this song, Shannon? It's just a song talking about where everybody knows your name. Oh, for the picture thing. Yeah. Sorry. That took me a minute.
Starting point is 00:40:00 All right. Central Kentucky, if you're looking for new furniture appliances are bad, check. P. Rats, a locally owned and operated appliance, furniture, and mattress company, 75 years in the Lexington. That's crazy. 75 years. They've won the best appliance retailer in the bluegrass for the last six years. They're here to help. They got one in Lexington, one in Richmond, amazing prices, top-notch service.
Starting point is 00:40:21 P-rats, refrigerators for your kitchen, deep freezers for the garage, comfy mattress. P-Rats is the best place for all your furniture and appliance needs. And remember, nobody, and I mean nobody, beats P-Rats. I've been hearing P-Rat's commercials, Ryan, since I was a little kid. Yep. And now I'm doing P-Rat's commercials as an adult. Comes full circle. Comes full circle.
Starting point is 00:40:43 All right, let's talk about a couple things this weekend. Did you watch the hockey game, Ryan, where they fought three times in nine seconds? I didn't see it live, and then I saw everybody posted about it, so I immediately tried to find the video just to watch the highlights. Yeah, they weren't messing around. Three times in nine seconds. So it was the United States and Canada. Shannon, they're going to play tomorrow night for the gold medal and whatever this thing they're playing is.
Starting point is 00:41:08 The Four Nations, we hate you shootout. Are you going to watch it to see if they fight more? I might now. I like, by the way, how all three of these fights could have happened at once, but they let each person have their own round. Yes, they did. Like this time, we're going to focus on you two. And then after they're done, we bring in two more. So I kind of like the way they do it.
Starting point is 00:41:26 You know, two of the American guys were brothers, the kichucks. So one kachuk fought, and then they waited one more second, and then drew the other kachuk fault. They were like, kachuk, let's keep kachuking. They did not give any kichucks. Mark Pope said last night that he used the – he showed the team in the locker room the first 30 seconds to show them kind of how to fight. Now, Wednesday, tomorrow night, they come out and just start punching people on Vandy. They might have overreacted a little bit. But Pope used it as motivator.
Starting point is 00:41:54 No, no, no. You don't want to do that. You're already down. your roster is only down to seven people. You don't think of being thrown out. Bring in Darby Shire and Horn in, let them fight, and then they can get kicked out, and it'll be a fight. They're not winning a fight against anybody.
Starting point is 00:42:06 Who are they beating up? Yeah, they're probably not. Probably not. I'm trying. NBA All-Star weekend was widely panned, and we could, you know, I had to talk about it on ESPN so much that I don't really care. But Mac McClong Ryan did jump over a car. I saw that.
Starting point is 00:42:23 I will say this. everybody likes to mock NBA All-Star Weekend and that's fine. But Matt McClunk dung is amazing. He jumped over a car. He did a dunk where he took the ball, touched the rim, and then dunked. He had a one where a guy held up two balls and he dunked them both. Like that dude's amazing, isn't he? Dude, it was his third year in a row.
Starting point is 00:42:43 He's won it. He's been the only thing besides Tyler Hero winning the three-point cause. Max McClung is the only thing that interests me even a little bit in the NBA All-Star weekend. Drew, did you like McClung? and I like the kid that made $100,000. I don't know what the game was exactly and he ended up jumping in a tub of money. I did like that.
Starting point is 00:43:02 Yeah, Mr. Beas, throwing some more money around. McClung's awesome, and whatever the All-Star game makes, he deserves half of the cut. He does. Because that's what everyone watched. Also love our connection. We've been to Gate City, Virginia, home of Matt McClung.
Starting point is 00:43:14 We ate some ostrich there. But, yeah, I mean, he's the whole show. It was cool that Tyler Hero won, but the main takeaway is Mac McClung was the only real entertaining part of the whole weekend. Now, I watched the S&L 50 thing. Shannon, I have to say, I thought it was awesome. Let's start with the music concert.
Starting point is 00:43:31 I don't know how much of it you saw, but like, how in the world did they get all these people to perform? I mean, they had everybody. It was like Paul McCartney, Paul Simon, they had all these people, and then Post Malone played with Nirvana. It smells like Teen Spirit. I posted the video. It still is going crazy viral. It's now the second biggest video I've ever posted. everybody fighting about whether or not he's good or not.
Starting point is 00:43:56 I actually thought it was kind of awesome, and I don't even like Post Malone, but what did you think? Yeah, I mean, that's a tough song to sing to begin with when you're trying to sound like Kurt Cobain. So I think that he did a pretty good job of it. And I like that, you know, you finally got to see Nirvana back together again. When did the guy that's not Dave Grohl or Pat Smir? What's the other guy's name?
Starting point is 00:44:18 Chris Novoselik, the bass player? When did he start looking like Dr. Phil? He does. He does look like it, doesn't it? He's got the... He looks exactly like Dr. Phil. When did he become Dr. Phil? Like, I guess he always wears a hat.
Starting point is 00:44:32 I don't think I'd ever notice before. Yeah. But I liked him. And then the actual, Drew, the actual show, it was three and a half hours. And I actually thought it was really good. Considering what they were trying to do and mixing in all the generations, I found it extremely entertaining. Adam Sandler's song where he mentions Chris Farley and Norm
Starting point is 00:44:55 kind of brought a tear to my eye. I thought the Black Jeopardy skit was good. Merrill Streep played a role. I didn't think she was going to play. I actually thought it was really good. Did you? Yeah, you listed my favorites. You know, I've been down on SNL for a while,
Starting point is 00:45:09 although it's been pretty good lately, but I thought they did a great job with the anniversary. The weekend update was really good. My favorite of all the skits, though, was probably Eddie Murphy doing Tracy Morgan. That was great. while standing next to Tracy. Even, you know, we love when they break character.
Starting point is 00:45:25 Tracy Morgan was trying not to laugh at him and he just kept going on and on. And also like you, Sandler, even though I knew it was coming, him doing Norm and Farley, kind of in the same, you know, right there at the same time, that one got me pretty good. Those are two, my two favorites, that would be on SNL. I thought, Bobby Mornaynandah's drunk uncle also was really good. I missed that. That's one of the better characters they've ever had. Also, I didn't realize how much I missed Molly Shannon.
Starting point is 00:45:51 Just having her back bouncing off the walls was hilarious, too. She was really good a deal. All of it was great going back in time. What about Will Ferrell and that woman, Shannon's singing not like us, like Anagastar. It's the middle schoolers. Did you see that? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Dude, I thought that was great.
Starting point is 00:46:06 And then White Lotus debuted last night. Has anybody watched it yet? I've seen it. I watched it. And I haven't watched it yet. Is it good? Well, the first episode is just kind of character development. You're getting to know all the characters.
Starting point is 00:46:17 So I'm sure it'll take off here. I hear they talk about Duke versus North Carolina. Is that right? Like, is that part of the show? Oh, yeah. That's right. The one family. Did you watch the episode or not?
Starting point is 00:46:29 I can't remember. I watched it. There's a family one, like the husband graduated from Duke and the wife graduated from North Carolina. That's what it is. Okay. Well, it seems like you paid close attention. Who's up next, Shannon? Wilkie.
Starting point is 00:46:41 Wilkie. Go ahead, Wilkie. Hey, Matt, I have two things. One's a quick question and one's a comment. The first one, do you have any idea why? We don't know what time the Auburn game is. And then the second thing that I wanted to call about this a couple of weeks ago after Shepard wore the Arkansas shirt, but I never got around to it.
Starting point is 00:47:02 And the NKG thing fits right into it. And basically, I like to compare those two because Michael Kiddlest, he went higher in the draft. He won a title here, not even 15 years ago. And boom, case in point, people won't even recognize a picture of them. Here is Reed Shepard in comparison, who played here. one year, lost in the first round. All he did was score some points. And then he, you know, the only reason we're going to remember him is because of his last name.
Starting point is 00:47:29 Yeah, from Kentucky. Yeah, from Kentucky. I mean, that's natural, though. I mean, that's natural. It's from Kentucky. I mean, like, he's from here. His parents went here. You know, he's from the mountains.
Starting point is 00:47:38 Like, that's, that's, those are the reasons. That's my point. And he's a great player. I mean, he was a great player, too. But he's taking advantage of our love for that by wearing the shirt and not apologizing, none of that stuff. I just think it's crazy to me that, you know, people would still love him forever when he could do something like that. It's one mistake, though.
Starting point is 00:47:55 It's one mistake. Yeah, let's be real, though. He's 19 years old, and I appreciate to call it, 1920, something like that. People make mistakes. I think you've got to give him a break. I think that was a mistake, and I think the criticism he took was valid. But he's also 19, 20 years old. And if I was judged on a national stage of everything I did at 19 or 20,
Starting point is 00:48:18 it might not always look great. So I think he deserved criticism. I also think like it shouldn't last forever. As far as the game times, they decided this year to basically flex the last three games of the year so they could put the best matchups at the best TV times, Ryan. I think it's a smart idea. Now the ESPN owns all of the SEC games, they decided to do that. In years past, they couldn't because CBS had some of the games.
Starting point is 00:48:46 But now they're going to pick the best time. times going in those last few games. And that's going to be a huge game. Kentucky and Auburn at Rupp Arena, probably game day is going to be there. So they'll get a good time slot. Don't worry. I'd say it'll be like 6 o'clock. It'll be 6 or 8.
Starting point is 00:49:01 Like it's going to 4. I mean, it's either 1 or 4 is how it's listed. Oh, it's 1. Okay, then it might be their ABC game at 1 because there's a game at ABC. So yeah, we'll see. Thank you folks very much. Remember, my trivia is Thursday night. Tomorrow we are back at KS Bar for the morning show.
Starting point is 00:49:18 and the pregame show, Wings Day, all that. Glad to be back going, and we will see you tomorrow. Gotta beat Vandy tomorrow night. Let's focus and get a win. This has been Kentucky Sports Radio.
