Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue with 42.

Welcome to Hour 2 of Kentucky Sports Radio, presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Now, here's Matt Jones.
Welcome back, hour number two, Kentucky Sports Radio, 859-2802287.
We are now open for lunch here at the KS Bar and Grill.
Let's go over a couple things.
Tomorrow our remote is at the Lexington Sporting Club,
the soccer complex out there on the edge of next to the Athens-Bunsboro exit.
It'll be at the stadium.
You pull up and they will show you where we're going to be.
You'll be able to see the new complex.
We'll be giving stuff away.
So that is tomorrow, Ryan, 10 to noon for the show.
I'm excited about it because they're going to take us on a little inside tour.
I think even fans that come out there got a chance to win tickets
and maybe get a tour.
So it would be a lot of fun,
especially if you got any interest at all
in the soccer program.
Get out there and check it out.
The soccer team.
Soccer team.
Yes, yeah.
But Lexington Sporting Club,
go see the new stadium.
They have some great gear.
I look forward to getting some new gear.
Not even a chance to win free tickets.
It's everyone at the show gets two free tickets to the game.
Nice.
Look at that.
Everyone in the show gets two free tickets to the game on March 8.
So there you go.
That will be, remember, and I think Kentucky plays at noon that day
and then the games later in the day.
could do you could do both. So 859-280-2287. Let's talk about a couple other things real quick
before we get back to the game. Gene Hackman was found dead this morning. He, his wife, and his
dog all found dead in their house, but foul play was not suspected. So you got to think what is that?
You think like carbon dioxide? Yeah, something like that to get both of them and the dog.
Yeah, that really stinks. It does think.
But Gene Hackman had quite a life.
I mean, let's see.
What is he best known for?
Probably Ryan would say the coach on Hoosiers.
Norman Dale, head coach of the Hickory Huskers and Hoosiers.
That's like your favorite movie, right?
It is the best movie I think ever made.
Ever.
Ever.
Okay.
And then what else?
He played in Crimson Tide.
It wasn't that with Denzel?
Shannon, do you have a Gene Hackman movie?
Behind enemy lines.
I love that movie.
All right.
That's mine too.
Shannon. I love that movie also. He was the coach and the replacements. He won an Academy Award
early on for the French Connection. I've seen that one. That's a great movie. That's a big movie.
He's in a really good movie that has kind of gotten forgotten to history, but is like one of the
really good 70s movies, the Conversation. Have you ever seen that? No. French Connection's good,
too. I don't know if it stands up as well, just because it's like, well, but I don't mean to
Chris. I think it's very good. He was in Royal Tannenbombs. Okay. Played, played Lex
Luthor.
Oh, yeah, the original Superman.
The original Superman.
I also think he was good in a movie.
It was called maybe Mississippi Burning.
Yeah.
That was like in maybe the late 80s, something like that.
Enemy of the state and behind enemy lines.
I guess I'm big when he has enemy in the title.
Those are my two favorites.
So rest in peace to Gene Hackman.
Also, I think he was nominated.
He was in Bonnie and Clyde, for people who, like, want to go away back.
Yeah, I think he got, he was been nominated for
here are the movies he was nominated for it the conversation french connection
bonnie and clod uh he was nominated for mississippi burning unforgiven with clin eastwood
you remember that it doesn't look like you remember that and then uh he's just he did a lot of
television later in his life so how about 95 years old would anyone have guessed that i know
had him been younger that is uh that's quite old all right so
a full life there go a full life how about that rest in peace to jean hackman then
We've got to make fun of Louisville for a second, okay?
So, you know, yesterday we just happened to talk about this fan stake thing,
and I said, like, it's just, I don't know.
Like, I don't know what I think about that, right?
Like, I think it's a little, I don't know.
So fan stake, that's the company, if you remember, who, like, you can give money to them,
and they pledge it to a recruit, and then if the recruit picks that school,
I guess they get the money.
So they did an ad campaign with KSR,
the website. Now, I'll remind you, first of all, I don't own KSR the website anymore, so I don't
control what they do. I still have, you know, a consulting kind of role with them, but I don't
like control it. So I didn't even know they did this. But FanStake basically said if you
use the code KSR, we'll give you 25 free dollars to give to a team. And the reason they did that
is they were trying to get the Big Blue Nation involved, right? Right. So our KSR
writers tweet out here use this code free $25. Louisville fans who seem to have the collective
intelligence sometimes of geese somehow turn that into they think I'm giving $25 like out of my
pocket to these recruits not now yesterday morning I was very clear I don't even think this is a good
idea right right but they had turned it into Matt Jones is giving $25 away to the
let's pull one over on him and let's use their code and give it to Louisville.
So again, the intellectuals on the internet just they keep doing it, which is fine.
You're giving this Nate A. Mett kid money, I guess, assuming he gets the money.
But it became like online, we've cost Matt Jones $40,000 when Nate A.M.
It picks Louisville.
Well, I wasn't online a lot in the afternoon.
And then I look and everybody's like, you got owned.
We're going to own you.
We're going to make you broke.
Forty-you-going out of mudjid.
We're going to be in the poor house because of Louvre.
And I was like, you are the biggest suckers in the world.
First of all, there are a million codes to that thing.
They have their own code.
They have their-LUBLE has their own code.
You used our code.
Actually, you probably helped KSR get the credit.
Here's the thing.
You all made KSR money.
Every time you used the code, KSR.
got money. So the reason I wasn't
stopping you is because you buffoons
were handing our company money.
You could have, there was a code for
Louisville. There was a code for your
websites that would have given your
websites money and instead
you foolish people gave us money.
And guess what? We ain't paying it.
Whether you go or not. This company, I guess we'll pay
it. I don't know if they will or not.
But these idiots
thought they had somehow pulled one
over on Kentucky when all
they did was make KSR money. That's all you did. And when he doesn't pick Louisville and he picks
Duke or Arkansas, Kentucky, or whatever, you will have given us money and accomplished nothing
except three hours of patting yourself on the back and thinking you did something. So we thank
you. You know, I get a revenue share of the profit from KSR. The check will be a few dollars more
next year because of you buffoons. So thank you all very.
Well done. Well done. Yes. A heartfelt thank you. But is that not insane?
It is. And they honestly were bragging. And I had one dude who just kept writing me going,
how's it going to feel to write that $40,000 check? I'm like, you can't really believe that I would write a $40,000 check to Nate A.Mitt to go to Louisville.
You think we would have to set up a business where I would have to do that?
Like, stop it. I mean, if I wanted to give Nate A. Mint money, I would just give it to him directly and have him do ads.
That's for KS.
Wouldn't I?
I believe that would be as smart.
Why would I go through fan steak?
I was at the baseball game, and I saw you before the pregame show.
We were sitting on the couch, and I was like, somebody said we got burned.
Did we get burned?
I don't feel burned.
I don't even know what was going on, to be honest.
And just haven't had one thought about it since, too, just brought it up.
The other thing is Nate A. Mint is getting offered NIL packages upward of $2 million.
Do y'all really think he's going to pick his college based on whether or not?
he gets $35,000 from the Louisville.
Like, stop it.
He's getting like $2 million.
Wherever he goes, it ain't going to be because of that, right?
You're explaining this yesterday.
I don't even know how this is even going to be out of work.
How this would even be successful.
In theory, the theory is that everyone puts money in for their team.
And then if he picks your team, he gets the money.
And if he picks the other team, you get your money back.
That's the theory behind it.
Good luck with that.
There you go.
I'm never going to recover from yesterday's burn, though.
I don't even know how I got up this morning.
I am going to go eat at Chipotle today, thanks to you Louisville fans, and I'm going to get the guac.
Oh, because of you.
Slow down.
I'm going to get the guack.
You know what, get it.
Second guack, just throwing on the ground because you've got so much money now.
Who's next?
Pierce.
Pierce, go ahead, Pierce.
Hey, guys.
Have you seen the show Severance?
Yes.
Okay.
Pierce, you're going to have to move faster.
You're going to have to move faster.
Keep going.
What is it?
I think we need to put this punk Billy in the break room.
I think that's where he needs to go.
He needs to learn his lesson.
Yeah.
I mean, I think Billy, there is an argument, Shannon, for punishment.
I appreciate the call.
Now, I mean, like, not because he did anything wrong,
but because we have to have better judgment, you know.
Like, you have, I can't remember the last time you've upset me with a call,
like with a producing decision.
I mean, you're a producer.
Do you have sympathy for him or do you blame?
I mean, a little bit.
I mean, like we've said, we've had these conversations with callers.
Don't call every single show.
But she doesn't call every show.
Well, see, I don't know how they're in that situation.
This was her third straight show.
But like, she probably calls one out of every five or six.
Right.
And it's not every day like the call-in show is that we're on right now
where it's every single day you're calling.
So it's a little bit different.
And it's also 1.30 in the morning.
Yeah.
So like.
But I defend Billy a little bit, though.
Okay.
But I don't like that she cried.
That kind of made me feel bad for her.
That she got that upset.
I think you've got to read the room sometimes to understand what she's been through.
She never calls the morning shows.
It's always just the postgame show.
And I looked it was 138 in the morning.
You know, at 138 in the morning, unless it's Bob and Jamestown, I'm for it.
I want him to call today to talk about Ellie.
How about Ellie?
Another home run.
He is hitting 6.50 right now in spring training.
He's hitting 650.
And Matt McLean, three for three yesterday.
I mean, the summer of Ellie is here.
Mario, I need you to get excited about Ellie.
I also need Ryan to not talk about your hair anymore after the pregame show yesterday.
That was quite a fun pregame.
It was one of my favorite pregame shows we've ever done.
The ball we talked.
I mean, it's just breaking down film.
Yeah, I mean, just, I don't know that it was random.
If you just turned on the radio and you heard pause Ryan Lemon go,
I have a black son.
I don't know that that was necessary for the morning show.
But it's good for the pregame show.
Fits of the pregame show format.
You think that's good for the pregame show.
It was a 630 start.
Even if it's not necessary in the morning.
Okay, gotcha.
Who's up next?
Good thing is there's no tape of that one.
So, there you go.
Mark Anthony.
Mark Anthony.
Mark Anthony, go ahead.
Hey, Matthew, Randers, Shannon.
And, hey, I know a few U of L fans where I'm at, and they are some 40-watt bugs,
but just the same.
Pope likes to say that the game rewards you or punishes you depending on how you play it.
Whether you play hard and play.
Well, Otega got rewarded last night.
He was the example of that old phrase, refused to lose.
He wouldn't going to come out of there with Nell, bless his heart.
and I was real happy to see
Brandon Garrison on defense
at least four different times
smothered dudes
moved his beat
and I don't want to be blasphemous or anything
but there were shades of Willie there a few times
and I slow down if you can do it
if you can do it well I'd say don't want to be blasphemous
but if you can do it
if you can do it four or five times
you can do it every time
and I think Coach Pope's going to take those clips
from the film and show him. You see what you did?
You see what you did? No, he did a great job.
Like, he did a great job. I appreciate the call.
And I was more impressed about Garrison's defense than anything because he slid his feet.
He's always been to me through a little awkward, right?
Like, just kind of a little, it just doesn't feel like he completely has grown into his body.
But, like, he looked like a defender in that second half.
And you see where, you know, he's the one guy that NBA scouts say could play in the league.
think you saw that last night as to why they say that at least, right?
Hopefully it's a breakthrough, and I used the Willie comparison at the beginning of the show,
Guard and Guards.
I mean, he's not Willie, but the fact that you got a big man that gets switched on Jeremiah fears
and can shut him down, that's pretty rare.
And hopefully that'll continue.
It makes me wonder some of the guards we've already faced being short-handed if they've
gone to that in the past.
But it was such a good game, and I think the key was his baby son being there.
And Ryan, I'm sorry, but I think Brandon's baby needs to be at all games.
The baby was at the press conference.
At the press conference, too.
Yeah.
He went to show off for his son.
Is that all right with you, Ryan?
Can Baby Garrison start coming to more games?
Because clearly he played well because of that.
That's a good point.
If Brandon's going to play like that, I think Baby Garrison is welcome to every game.

And we're still chasing it.

Because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and losses.

The question is, how do you conquer them?
On hurdle with Emily Abadi,
we sit down with the most inspiring women
in sports and wellness.
Professional athletes, coaches,
and Olympic champions to talk about the challenges that shaped them and the mindset that keeps them going.
From the WNBA standout, Kate Martin and rising hockey star, Layla Edwards.
If a boy can do it, I don't see why a girl can't.
Like, I've never understood that.
Like, it didn't make sense in my brain.
It's hard to be in spaces that no one looks like you, but don't ever feel like you don't feel on.
Don't let that be the reason you don't do it.
An Olympic champs, Gabby Thomas, and Katie Ledecki.
The ability to show a gold medal to someone and have their face light up and smile,
that means the world to me, and that's what motivates me to win more gold medals.

Jacob Kingston grew up in an isolated polygamous sect.
We were God's chosen kingdom on earth.
He felt destined for greatness.
So when a swaggering Armenian businessman catapults Jacob into an extraordinary world, he doesn't look back.
Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, meeting the president of Turkey.
I'm Michelle McPhee, and this is one of the most shocking criminal conspiracies I've ever come across.
When Jacob met Levant this went to a billion dollar fraud.
But with two kings from entirely different worlds, just how long can their empire survive?
The largest tax investigation in American history.
You need to tell me what you know.
Is somebody coming after me?
Jacob told Levan, you're ruining my life.

I love this song.
Like, this is the, when you're talking about guilty pleasure songs, this is like,
if this is not number one for me, it's up there.
Like, I don't want to like it.
Would you like it?
But I do, because it's, I mean, and this is crazy.
So here's my number.
Call me maybe.
Come on now.
How could you not like this song?
Harvard Baseball Team videos, the first thing I think of when we hear this song.
You think of the Harvard Baseball Team?
It was like one of the first viral videos ever.
They did a thing while they were all in a van going to a road game,
and they did a little thing to this song.
I don't remember that.
I have no idea what you're talking about.
I do know that I like this song.
I will say you can bring about any group of people, and this is a song that will get them going.
Like, you be anywhere, and this starts playing, and people are like, all right, I can get with this.
I've mentioned this before.
My friends and I have a game that's gone almost 10 years where we have a song, and if it comes on all around, you have to buy around, and this is mine.
This is your song?
I've actually been to a Carly Ray Jepson concert by myself because that's my song.
I said Miley.
It's Carly Ray Jepson.
Why don't say Milley?
You're right.
But this is my shot song.
So I'll get around at the break.
Is she still around?
Like, what does she do?
Just living off this money, I assume.
Probably.
Yeah.
Carly Ray.
All right.
I like that.
Great Canadian.
859-280-2287.
The UK and Tennessee women's teams play tonight.
Big game for the cats.
We need to get a big win.
You know, we lost.
Texas, we were never really close.
Should have beat LSU, I think.
Didn't.
But now you got Tennessee at home tonight, sold out.
rocking Memorial Coliseum.
This would be a big game for Kenny.
I think it would guarantee him a top four seed.
It would probably guarantee him a first round by in the SEC tournament.
Massive game, and you're playing Tennessee.
You want to get a win.
I hope they have a good bounce-back performance because they had that.
They had LSU beat.
They don't know what?
16 points.
They were at 16.
Yeah.
Kind of couldn't hang on.
And then came back and took the LSU came back, got up eight, and then Kentucky did the lead again.
Took the lead again.
Yeah.
So they show they can play with the superior teams of the conference.
should give them some confidence going to the Tennessee game tonight.
Yeah, so hopefully we will get a victory tonight.
Three and a half point underdog.
I just tweeted it from the app.
Kentucky is?
Yep.
Okay.
So also, if you are in Lexington for tonight for Kentucky, Tennessee or the Blake Shelton concert,
we will have like pregame festivities here.
We're going to be playing some Blake Shelton.
The UK women's game will be on here tonight.
So get your family friends or just people you meet on the street and come by here.
You think Blake Shelton talks a little trash tonight while he's up on stage?
He can't.
He lost.
Yeah, you think he'll say any smart?
No, we talk trash to him.
Okay.
You scream at him and go BB in.
Maybe some Go Big Blue chance tonight.
Let's get those going.
Don't throw anything or don't do Oklahoma behavior, but let them know they won.
So besides Old Red, give me a Blake Shelton song.
Oh, boy.
Honeybee.
How's that go?
You can go to the website.
It's right there.
Give me a sense.
You have a honeybee.
You know, I'm horrible at this.
You know, you can be my honeybee.
It's called You Can Be My Honeybee.
Yeah, you can be my honeybee.
No, that's not how it goes.
That's not how it goes.
You're singing, you can be my bodyguard.
Yeah.
Paul Simon.
That's what I was going crazy.
And I can call you Frank and you can call me Sally.
Like, that's not how it goes.
No, that's not how it goes.
So how's it go?
Honeybee.
You keep saying the word.
I'm asking you how the song goes.
I need some help, Shannon.
Can Shannon find it play?
I can play it for you.
Well, no, play old red.
That's what I want to hear.
Okay.
He had Austin.
You know that song.
Oh, Austin, of course.
Yeah.
If this is Austin, I still love you.
And boys around here.
Chewitabaca, chewed a back of, chewed a back of a spit.
Stupid song.
Chewine eyes cold beer.
Okay, I've heard that song.
I hate it, but I've heard that song.
What else?
Some Beach.
Yeah, I hate that song, too.
Hillbilly Bone.
I like Austin.
I don't know Hillbilly Bone, but I can guarantee you I wouldn't like it.
I also, I don't know how I'm getting off on this, but you know how you get a song in your head?
Yeah.
And it just stays there.
For me yesterday, I could not get my cousin's song out.
With that old out, Colorado.
Yes, and run, down, brown, and the first of her.
And then I notice something.
You always make fun of how I say the state to the south of us.
Yes.
That's how he says it.
Oh, in the song?
Yeah.
I could tell she'd love east.
Tennessee.
That's how he says it.
It's got to be something about that part of the country.
Yes.
Before, why I take this call,
find sand in my boot, Shannon,
and just get to the chorus where he's,
and listen to how he says Tennessee.
Tennessee.
It's how you've made fun of me for saying it,
and he's from there.
And he's from where I was around.
So probably everybody says it that way down there.
It's the Sneedville accent.
Something about the way she kissed me tells me she loves Eastern Tennessee.
That's right.
Tennessee.
We'll play the outside.
sexual thing and then you can compare.
Okay.
All right.
Who's next?
Okay, turn it up, yes.
I mean, even though he's my cousin,
I'm not a huge fan of his music,
but I do like this song.
Here you go.
See, that's exactly how I say it.
You've made fun of me for years for saying.
Because you guys are the only people that say it that way.
Tennessee.
Who's next?
Connor.
Connor.
Halloween.
Halloween.
Connor.
Go ahead, Connor.
Hey, Matt.
Good to talk to you again.
We sat right behind the UK bench last night.
and, man, that was one of the best basketball games I've ever seen.
I cannot believe you said.
I didn't know that he stayed after the game inside the arena.
I went outside and we were standing by the bus with about seven people.
You missed it.
He stayed in the arena and he signed 150.
They said, Adam said around 150 autograph.
Right.
And I stood by that bus for over an hour.
I got my pictures with Pope and with some of the players.
But yeah, I didn't know.
he stayed in the arena, I would buy the bus for over an hour outside.
But that's pretty crazy.
But, man, Amari came out of that arena to enter the bus,
and that ankle was wrapped up pretty heavy,
and he was limping pretty hard.
So hopefully he can get right by this weekend,
but I'm pretty nervous about that.
Well, there's a part of me that would say this.
For this Auburn game, there's a part of me that would say,
if anybody's not for certain able, just sit it out.
I want to win, but like you can come in, fellas. Come on in.
Peek it through the window.
Look at peeking through the, come on. There you go.
Pull there it is. Well done. He looked who's peeking through the window.
Like you've never been inside a building before.
All right. But do you agree? I appreciate the call. Do you agree with that?
Yeah, you hate to have the surrender mentality. I mean, they could still win.
But just looking at what it would mean to the team if you lose, it would not really impact you at all.
Auburn's so good. They're running away with the regular season title.
I mean, if anything, it would help you out in SEC seating,
but it's not really going to impact your NCAA seating.
So if someone has the potential or they're kind of close
and hurt themselves by playing again,
I would understand leaving them on ice in that one.
Yeah, Lus and Auburn doesn't necessarily really hurt you.
I'd rather have everybody as healthy as possible for LSU, Missouri, and the SEC tournament.
I will say, though, if you win this game,
you can be a two-seed in the turn.
It's crazy.
Like all of a sudden, I mean, if you were to win this game,
I think you are a two-seat in the term.
Texas A&M's a two right now, and they just lost at home.
So this is Honeybee.
Not exactly what you were singing, but close enough.
You've said that you like this song.
I have?
Yeah, because he says I'll be your Conway 20.
That was the day I was in AMBN, I think.
We'll be right back.
It's KSR.
T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney.
Call T.J. He'll make them pay.
Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Here's Matt Jones.
It's a good song.
Didn't you say Larry loves this song?
This is the, that's the only, that's the reason I like it, is it's just like Larry, the only
music that I know Larry likes is he likes classical music.
So he would turn on a station that literally played like, you know, concertos and stuff.
And then he likes gospel music, like secular music that's not classical.
I don't even know what he likes because I don't know that he's ever been to a concert.
that I know of, but then he likes this song.
Yeah.
Like, it's the only song, if you were to say to me,
what is a song Larry Bondale likes?
Outside of, like, hymns,
this is the only one I know.
So, you know.
That's what I associate this song with now
because you told that story once.
I don't know.
It's about a dog going to, like, hook up with another dog.
Did Larry have a dog?
Is there a dog connection?
Maybe that's it.
Maybe he had a dog named Old Red when he was a kid.
For some reason, it always makes me laugh.
8.9-2-8027.
Let me give you your Draft King's NCAA championship picks.
You go to Draft King's Code KSR.
Here are the odds right now for the men's title from Draft King's.
Which of these do you think is the best bet?
You could only bet one of these, which do you want to bet?
Auburn is plus 300.
They're the favorite.
It means three to one.
Duke is plus 345.
Houston is plus 750
Florida is plus 875
Alabama's plus 900
If you had to place a bet on one of those things
What would you do?
I'll go first
I would take Alabama plus 900
Just because it's the most odds
And I think they are really really good
So you're taking Alabama plus number
I'm taking Alabama. What about you, Drew?
Easy pick for me
I think Houston is going to be my team to win it all this year
You're telling me I get
what was it 750 almost 8 to 1 that'd be my play when you and I talk gambling we like share a brain
I see that and the one that sticks out is Houston plus 750 because I think Houston can win it
I think Houston plays a style that is really built for the NCAA tournament and again they've had a great
defense for the last seven years yeah but now they have a great offense this year and they
that's not been something they've had a lot of years Houston at plus 750 I really like
Kelvin Samson, is he the best no one talks about coach in the country?
I mean, think about that.
He won in Indiana, then he had to leave for the phone calls.
And Houston, a program you haven't thought about since Hakeem and Clyde Drexler,
he has turned into a perennial contender.
They are a contender every single year with players we don't even know, ever.
Houston has been the conversation for our number one seed.
You're right for like the last four or five years.
Before Indiana, was he at Oklahoma and had really a good success at Oakland?
I think he had six.
I think didn't he take him to the final four at Oklahoma?
I think he did.
I think he did.
I think he took him to with, well, he may be.
He went from Oklahoma and Indiana, and then he had to disappear to the NBA when he got that show cause,
but he or whatever it was.
And then Houston was his first job back.
They've been knocking on that door since he's been there.
I just think he deserves a lot of credit.
And he's also like 70.
Yeah.
And he still is killing.
Is he the best coach, has active coach that's not won a tournament?
I mean, it's a crown.
Crown is yours
Yeah
I think Kelvin Samson's the best coach
To not win a title
I think that's a fair
Would you agree with that
Him or Mark Few
Oh yeah
That would be a good argument
Those two guys right there
Well I just looked at it
Since Kentucky knocked him out
Well that was a good team
And Hero hit the game winner
They've gone Final Four
Elite 8 Sweet 16
Sweet 16
I mean they're
They're in the mix every year
Every year
And like you said this year
They've got a good offense
To go with that great defense
They've had for several years
But can you name
one of their players? No. That's what's crazy. I can't name one player. Can you name one of their players?
No, I watched the Arizona game thinking they would lose. I shouldn't be able to name on watch the game,
but I saw next year he's got like two top 15 recruits, which I don't think he's ever gotten before.
So it should be interesting. Who's up next? David. David, go ahead, David.
Hey, Matt. Hey, David. How are you? Good. You were talking about, first of all, you were talking about
Gene Hackman earlier.
You forgot one of one of his great performances.
He was the blind man and young Frankenstein, remember?
Oh, yeah, I haven't seen that a long time, but good memory.
Yeah, I watched it last summer, I believe, and it was fun.
Anyway, I would talk about Otega O'Reilley.
He was, since we were talking about Hackman, he was like Superman last night.
He was like Superman, man.
I mean, he literally, Otega O'Way scored in every way you could score.
He hit a big three.
Drew mentioned earlier.
He took it to the basket.
And what's crazy, he had 28 and he probably could have had 40 if he made his layups.
I mean, like, he really was awesome.
I'll add, Brandon Garrison gets credit for the final block.
But if you look really closely, O'AWay blocked it into Garrison's hand.
So that should be O'Awe's block that saved the game.
You're exactly right.
So David, yes, it was a Superman kind of performance.
Yeah, and I was with you.
I was worried that they were going to call a technical on Brandon Gares.
I was like, Doug Scheld, are you going to do that again?
You know, he didn't pick up the eye of the company.
When Doug went to the monitor, I appreciate the call.
I was about to go in my archives and find that picture that he doesn't like that comes out from when he was sitting there at that ref camp.
Yeah.
When they showed the replay, Garrison really didn't touch him.
He just kind of walked up to him.
talking trash.
Like, they've changed that rule.
You're not allowed to get in someone's face after a play.
Well, he definitely did.
That was an aggressive confrontation.
That is a specific written rule now in college basketball.
You can't do that.
If there was 0.1 second on the clock, you think they would have called it?
Well, you know, so it's interesting.
Porter Moser, the Oklahoma coach, said they told him that they were reviewing to see if he did that.
I got a text message from a ref last night that said they could have called that,
even if the clock was over.
Even if it was zero?
Even if it was over.
As long as the refs are on the court, they could have called that.
Now, he said, I think that would have been, like you can imagine what the reaction to that would have been.
But he's got to be careful.
I mean, you're right.
You said this earlier, Drew.
Amari picked him up and carried him down the court.
On one bad leg, took him across the court.
And he still wouldn't stop.
Like, he still was trying to go.
Even in the handshake line, Amari's got him in a full bear hug trying to get him to calm him down.
And he's still mouthing at him the whole time.
I liked at the end.
O-Way is supposed to be going to the interview, and poor Deb Moore's dragging him by his jersey,
trying to get him over to do his post-game with ESPN.
It was just chaotic scene.
Also, I love that Oklahoma put up the rope and had the security guards
to keep him from storming the court.
And just save that for next time.
They had surrounded it thinking they had that one.
It did feel like to me there at the end,
or not O-A-was-or-not-A-excision,
garrison was maybe a little out of control.
because like Amari was holding him back, having to carry him.
Then he gets in the line and basically the handshake line just ends because he can't stop.
There was a sense where I thought like somebody needs to get this dude in the locker room.
Yeah, some of those Oklahoma guys would come over to shake O.A.'s hand.
As soon as they got close, Brandon is yelling and pointing at him so they get close to the UK bench.
Yeah.
So luckily we got out there without a scene.
That could have been worse, especially with that beer being thrown.
Like the whole thing could have been a lot worse.
Who's next?
Adam.
Adam, go ahead, Adam.
Hey, Matt.
I've got a love you, but.
You all are bearing the postgame story.
You know, Billy.
There was a caller that called in saying that he was, you know, trying to get his kid to bed,
and the kid got back up, and he let him watch the end of the game.
And then you said that you related because in 94,
the parents put you to bed and you missed the end of the end of the,
31 point comeback against LSU, which I relate, because I was eight years old,
and I was in the exact same situation.
But you're going to say that I was 15, right?
Is that what you're going to say?
Exactly.
I was 15.
Okay, so let me explain that, because I did say this, and this is true.
I appreciate the call.
I missed the 94 comeback because I had to go to bed.
and the next day
Larry said, by the way, we won.
And I told that story last night
because this guy was talking about his kid
who was like 11 that did that.
And then people last night kept writing me and going,
but like weren't you 15?
Yes, but I had a curfew.
Yeah.
Like I mean, they didn't say go to bed, sleep,
but like the TV was off at that time.
And especially, like, and it,
I just, I had to turn it off.
Like there was a, I think that probably ended
later that year when I talked.
turned 16, but I was, you know, my parents are wonderful, but there was some strict, you know,
there was some strict guidelines in my house. So like, yes, I was 15, but that didn't mean the rules
didn't apply. Because they stayed with, my rules probably stayed until at least 16.
And they were down 30. You probably thought it was okay to go to bed at that point.
Yeah, I mean, I probably didn't put up a fight. We were down by 30. I can't watch this anymore.
So I was like, okay. And that that was a week night. That's a school night.
And it was a 9 o'clock game.
Yeah.
It was a 9 o'clock game on a school night on ESPN 2, if you remember.
Was it?
Yeah, which for, Jill Middlesbril was there.
Do you remember how ESPN 2 came about?
Tell me.
ESPN 2 came on, and there was a few weeks where Middlesbril was the only station that had it.
I don't know how.
But people were not, the cable companies were not paying for ESPN2.
And one year ESPN, they were desperate to make the cable companies do it.
They put Duke Carolina and contendee.
Kentucky, Arkansas on ESPN2.
And that was basically forced the cable companies to take it because they were like,
unless you want to tell your viewers, they can't see UK Arkansas, you got to do it.
And then all the cable providers took it.
Based on those two basketball games primarily.
Think about those years.
Oh, yeah.
Those were the games those years.
They put them both on ESPN2 one year.
I remember that.
And I remember thinking it was like, oh, this is like they're being bad boys.
Like look at these graphics.
Like they're not even, they're not using uppercase letters.
It's like a grunge font.
were awesome. Do you remember the two people that hosted the nightly show on ESPN2?
The very first one? They were on every night. Anybody know? Who are they?
Keith Oberman and Susie Culber. Really? And Keith Oberman slicked his hair back and he had a
leather jacket on. And Susie Colber was smoking at that time. And the two of them, they were like,
bad boy, attractive woman. Here we go. It's sports with an edge. Smart. It was called like
PRSPN tonight, but the two was a two?
Stuff like that blew my mind, like, oh, they didn't even write the word tonight.
This channel's crazy.
They're using lowercase on the scoreboard.
How do they get away with this?
They use the number two instead of two.

Techie Sports Radio here at KS Bar and Grill.
A couple things here.
First, we're open for lunch today.
Blake Shelton pregame, UK Tennessee Women's Pregame.
Have a little party here.
And then the game tonight, you can come watch it.
UK women in Tennessee, I believe it's on, is on the SEC Network.
SEC Network.
SEC Network 7 o'clock?
7 o'clock.
7 o'clock.
So big time game tonight.
Second, we're opening at 10 a.m. on Saturday for the UK Auburn game
because the game is at one.
Our pregame will be at 10.30.
We're opening at 10, but we're serving regular food.
So you could just get like, you know, wings and all that at 10 a.m.
Why not?
Beer?
Yeah, you can still get your mimosa and just have it with your wings.
Yeah, so that'll be that Saturday.
Today is also National Chili Day.
Did you know that?
I'm telling we've got really good chili here.
So we have good chili here you can eat.
Also, tonight I'm going to celebrate with my good friends at Skyline
just to tell them hi.
honor them for their service to America.
So that's kind of cool.
Why?
What's your paws?
Your love and affinity for Skyline Chili just blows my mind.
Why does it blow your mind?
Because it's not good.
Oh, you bought your tongue.
Yeah.
I mean, why don't you like Skyline?
It's awesome.
I do not like it.
I love the chili here.
I get it once a week.
But Skyline has a whole thing.
It's got tradition.
It's got, it's got, it's,
It's cinnamony, but it's also spicy and it's fun, and you've just, you got nothing.
The cracker, the oyster crackers, and the hot sauce.
Their hot sauce is so uniquely them and it's good.
Maybe my palate, it just enjoys the high-level chili, not this low-level skyline chili.
It's different, but it's good.
It's definitely different.
You're different.
Who's next?
Eugene.
Eugene.
How are you, Eugene?
Hey, fellas.
How are you doing today?
Good to talk to you.
Wow.
Good to talk to you, Eugene.
I agree with Ryan.
That skyline ain't for me.
That stuff does not taste it.
Yeah, that's right.
Ryan knows what he's talking about.
I was calling to say, you think in the long run that these boys being hurt like they
was for some many games and then coming back where other players has gotten some
playing time is going to turn out to be a benefit for us rather than really hurting us.
And if somebody's already asked you at, I don't, I'm sorry.
No, they haven't.
No, they haven't.
No, worry about it.
Good to hear from you, Eugene.
Hope you're doing good.
Appreciate the call.
Could be, yes.
I mean, for instance, last night, when Lamont Butler fouls out,
Travis Perry was able to hold down the fort.
They basically switched offense to defense.
Travis would play offense.
Colin Chandler would play defense.
You know, if Butler had not had those games out,
I'm not sure Travis Perry would have been ready for that moment.
Not sure Colin Chandler would have been ready for that moment, honestly.
So to that respect, yeah, it could help.
Yeah, I think it's definitely helped, especially with Perry.
He's made a big jump.
I mean, having to play 30 minutes at Texas and at Alabama as two of your first career starts.
That's true.
I know those were losses, and, you know, he wasn't the best in those games,
but I think that did a lot for experience, and there might be a moment in the SEC tournament
NCAA tournament where he does something, and we can look back on that extra time he got
in the middle of the regular season is why he was playing that way.
I did notice there were 20 seconds left and we were down one,
and they imbounded the ball to Travis Perry.
and that kid could have been terrified, right?
I mean, he could have on the road, down one with the ball.
He could have been terrified.
And I know he didn't do anything, especially he just dribbled the ball up the air,
drove up the court and handed it to the away.
But I've watched him dribbled up the court,
and I thought that kid has confidence in this moment.
I did not want him to then take the ball and go to the basket,
but I did feel like he had confidence,
and I think that probably comes from playing these last few games.
Yeah, the blessing in disguise from those injuries
are the fact these guys got a lot of,
lot of minutes early.
So when we needed him, like last night, even Brandon Garrison getting the minutes that we don't
really want him too early when he wasn't playing that well.
Benefitted him last night, though.
He's quicker to shoot, too, which they need him to do.
That passed from Trent Noah to Perry in the corner last night, and Perry knocked down the three.
I know that was a fun moment for all the Kentucky fans.
Well, I also don't know, like, on the back door cut where Garrison hit him and he went up for
shot, I'm not sure if he would have taken that shot three weeks ago.
He might have just run it right back out.
Instead, he took it, got the foul, made the free throws.
and, you know, got the points.
Who's next?
Corey.
Corey, go ahead, Corey.
Playboys of the Southwestern world, best Blake Shelton song,
Chili Gillespie, my wife's favorite thing on the menu at KS Bar.
Preach it.
I want to talk directly to Billy, real quick.
Billy R. McGregor should take this moment to apologize to absolutely no one.
He is the only one that is protecting the airwaves from fraud, waste, and abuse.
Yeah, we need more kids saying,
Ruff was fun.
My favorite player is X.
That was awesome.
Billy, don't listen to the haters.
Keep us efficient.
Do the will of the people.
You guys have a good one.
Nice of Billy's dad to call today.
Broadway's and views is a funny line there.
No, you know, there does have to be some bad guys sometimes.
You know, and now I will give Billy credit for this, and Shannon's good at this too.
They protect me from having to be the bad guy.
Billy especially has some roles where he protects me from being the bad guy.
Something comes up and I don't want to do it, but I don't want to hurt people's feelings.
And Billy, so that's why I didn't get mad at Bill.
I just don't think Heather was the person to draw the line on last night.
And he acknowledged that.
Yeah.
I think it's just the, in the moment since he could have maybe been a little more simplified.
I think what he did was right.
I think he got embarrassed when she jumped on and kind of threw him under the bus and said,
that he wouldn't allow her to call anymore.
I think that's what happened there.
I think so.
But I do want to take up for him.
He does protect.
Part of his job is to protect me from being the bad guy
because it's bad for the show if I'm the bad guy.
And he does that.
And so I give him, I have a lot of, that's why I take up for him.
But he also can mess up sometimes too.
Cornbreadthimp.com.
If like last night, I'm on a maximum high after the game.
I had to try to get down.
Cornbread hemp.
Cornbread hemp helped.
Came home, breathe, relax, full-spectrum-only hemp CBD gummies.

They also have a 10.

Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind.
And nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where Sports Slice comes in.
I'm Timbo. In every episode, we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the biggest
moments in sports and giving you the real story behind the headline. And we're going straight to
the source, the athletes themselves, their locker room stories, their reactions in the moment,
and the stuff nobody gets to hear. Listen to SportsSlice on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or
wherever you get your podcast. And for more, follow Timbo Slic Life 12 in the TikTok podcast network
on TikTok. What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm CJ Toledano. It's our favorite time
of the year on our podcast point game, the playoffs. We're digging into the biggest surprises
of the season, and I'm looking back on some of my greatest playoff moments. If we didn't talk ever again,
You just understood.
That's how personal it got.
Wow.
Then after that game seven,
Marquis coming to you,
he's like, you know I love you, dog.
You know, it's all love.
This was just playoffs.
This was just basketball.
So listen to Point Game on the Iheart radio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
What's up, guys?
This is Clivert Taylor the 4th.
And on my podcast, the Cliverts show,
I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff.
Like being an internet famous referee.
We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me.
He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue with 42.
Hey, ref, my mama want you to wave at her.
What?
Hey, Ms. Parker.
