Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

Multi-million dollar house, Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, a billion dollar fraud.
But how long can this alliance last?

Welcome back. Hour number two, Kentucky Sports Radio, 859-280-2-8027 here,
sponsored by Clayton & Kroom, C-R-U-M-E dot com for leather goods from Kentucky.
They've got bags, they've got belts, they got everything you want, Kentucky partner at
Clayton & Kroom.com. People are telling me that they said that Porter-Mose,
or that suit, tie, and jacket combo.
He had been five in O-N.
He said it was his lucky combo.
Well, I guess it ain't that lucky.
I'd go ahead and get rid of it now.
Burn it.
Just that's not, I mean, I'm not, you know,
there's a lot of coaches that dress better than I do,
but I now know one I dress better than,
and it's the coach of Oklahoma.
I think that's stats worse because you're telling me
he's worn that in public five other times.
Once was plenty.
It's like a plaid gray jacket, red tie,
black shirt, black pants,
and camo shoes.
And he had a purple handkerchief.
Yeah.
None of those colors go together.
And it was such an odd. He looked like
a Batman villain. If I was a
coach and I was four and all, I probably would have worn it again.
I keep wearing it. Good luck.
He may get fired, by the way. I mean, he's kind of right.
For that outfit?
I don't think it's going to be for the outfit.
But he, you know,
he's got, they're going to make the tournament
probably. He's probably going to get 14 teams.
That is crazy. That is crazy.
That is great. Because Texas, you think Texas is in now, right?
I mean, I would think so after that.
game i think tex i mean right lenardi has him as the last team in okay so uh so we'll see i mean
guess they're the ones that we'll have to wait and see but 14 team i'm the only two teams won't
kick them out they don't belong they're they're making a mockery of the SEC what are they doing
unbelievable right it's it's something we may never ever see again i mean let's go over some of the
other stuff Louisville hits a buzzer beater yep yep yepherher chucky hepburn i don't know what
that dude was doing for uh who they play
Stanford.
Stanford.
He just threw the ball to Chuck Eiffburn who hit it.
That kid's legend has grown for U of L.
He's going to go down as one of their most beloved players probably.
He's good, too.
We played well against Kentucky.
So I'll ask you this on the pregame show.
Is Louisville the favorite to win the conference now that Flags Heart would do?
Yeah, I don't know.
I think honestly the four teams are now pretty even that are left.
But we'll see.
But remember, Louisville has not, I'm not trying to downplay Louisville.
but Louis's first three games in the ACC
were North Carolina Duke and Clemson.
Like they haven't played anybody
this whole year.
Yeah.
Until, I mean, and they, they won the North Carolina
and Duke game, I think, or no,
one North Carolina and Clemson lost to Duke.
But they literally, those were their first three games.
They have not played anyone in a month and a half.
So they will play Clemson.
It'll be interesting to just watch them, Drew,
against a good team because they haven't played one in forever.
Yeah, as much as we think the SEC's been crazy for how good it is,
The ACC's been so bad.
I saw a stat that they didn't even have a ranked game all year,
like two ranked teams didn't play each other all season in the ACC.
Is that right?
Like, how does that happen?
That's amazing.
I watched DePaul.
I know that sounds weird, but I watched DePaul.
They were up like 10 on Creighton.
They did what we did, except they lost.
And I feel so sorry for Dwain Peveeby at DePaul.
They've lost more games at the end, but they had Creighton beat.
They are setting up where there could be a St.
John's UCon final tomorrow night in.
in the garden, which could be like Shannon, one of the great atmospheres of all time.
If you get St. John's and Yukon in Madison Square Garden on a Saturday night for the Big
East title, that'll be one of the better college basketball games in the garden in years.
Yeah, and St. Johns, man, they are just rolling right now.
So that'll be Rick Petino's third opportunity to beat Danny Hurley, right?
Because they beat them twice already this year.
But I mean, those two teams both can sell out the garden in the region.
Oh, yeah.
So if you put them both in there together, that could be right.
just an amazing atmosphere.
And you know, don't count out Patino, man.
He wins that.
Well, he has the one seed, so I'm not counting him out.
That guy's a magician.
I just know they're going to end up in our bracket.
I just know it.
When the bracket's come out, somehow St. John's is going to be in Kentucky's bracket.
The latest is UCLA.
I'm fine with that.
I mean, again, we could, without Butler, like, let's say we play UCLA.
I mean, that game could be a toss-up.
You know, I mean, I don't think we're a huge favorite against any of those six
seeds without them.
But we can also win.
I mean, we can win that game.
And then they got Texas Tech as the two and Florida is the one.
No, I don't know if we can beat them.
You know, Florida may not make it that far.
You never know.
That's exactly right.
They could lose.
The bracket opens up every year, so there's a chance.
You never know.
You're exactly right about that.
Big 12, Kansas is out.
Kansas out.
What a disappointing year for them.
They've had an awful year.
They also ruined our KSR parley this week, so it makes me even more mad at Kansas.
Yeah, well, I think Mississippi State ruined ours this week.
That's two in a row where we've had four of the five games
and didn't get.
get the fifth, but they are now out, so you're going to get a new Big 12 winner for the first time
in a long time. I don't even know who's still alive in the Big 12 tournament right now.
BYU, Texas Tech.
Who beat them yesterday, Kansas?
Someone.
Oh, Arizona.
Yes, Arizona, yes.
I don't know who the other one is.
Arkansas loses on a buzzer-beater.
That might have been the second biggest cheer in the arena besides Kentucky, right?
Brazil is at the free throw line with two free throws to put them ahead,
missed them both.
And then they go down in Ole Miss Padula, hadn't hit a three all game.
Boom, hits it for the game winner.
I hated to see that.
That was awesome.
Never been a bigger Ole Miss fan for two hours like I was yesterday.
I just didn't want a scenario where cows playing on Saturday or Sunday or back home.
And that could have easily happened, too.
If that O.A. shot doesn't go in.
You know, it could have been doing.
We didn't want them to keep going, right?
But that was one of our biggest complaints was him not going far in the SEC tournament.
If you were a turnaround and done it with them, that would have been hard to watch.
And Cal told him to miss the free throws.
He's got an unconventional style.
I'll never understand that logic.
But you know what?
I'm not a Hall of Fame coach.
It's unconventional, Shannon.
You don't understand the lack of convention.
I'll remember that next time I screw up here on the job.
I like the Arkansas fans defending it.
Like, well, we didn't need to win that because we need to rest for a game.
Shut up.
Rest for what?
Like, you haven't won anything.
Yeah.
So anyway, yesterday, just overall in college basketball, an amazing day of basketball.
Really, just an amazing day and culminated with our victory.
Who's up next?
Michael is up next.
Michael, go ahead, Michael.
Hey, fellas.
I want to give a huge shout out to my buddy Brock Lloyd.
It's his birthday weekend.
We watch a lot of games together.
He, a huge UK fan, listens to y'all every day.
I was at his house last night, watching the game.
name, me and my family were there.
The last few minutes, man, I was so upset about what was going on.
I started putting my shoes on.
He knew I was about to walk out the door of his house because I just thought we just blew it.
And then when Otega hits that shot, I mean, he, like, bear hugged me and he's like up,
just pumped up about it.
So it was amazing watching Otega do that again to his, you know, former team.
but if you're butler, would you do anything you could to play your last few games?
I mean, kind of pull out like that Michael Jordan vibe when he had the flu game.
We don't know what the injury is.
I mean, this is not a flu.
Like if your shoulders separated, it's separated.
Like you can't just all of a sudden will it to be good.
So, you know, we don't know what the injury is.
They said he pulled, they said he was able to reach his shoulder, you know,
pull his arm or lift his arm above his head.
So I would think if it's, you know, in that case, let's play.
But that doesn't mean he can play.
I mean, there's a difference between.
I mean, wrap it up.
Get some scots.
I appreciate to call.
You have no idea.
Respectfully, you have no idea what you're talking about.
I mean, if you tear, you know, you can tear a shoulder and still be able to painfully
lift your shoulder up in the air.
It doesn't mean you can go get hit and play a basketball game as a physical point
guard who has to reach in.
And like, you can have more mobility.
than just raising your arm up.
It's got to go everywhere.
I mean, you've got a lot of stuff you have to do.
So listen, I'm not going to question Jackson Robinson or Lamont Butler's toughness
because they both tried to come back when they didn't necessarily have to, right?
So whatever happens, it happens.
Both of the injuries are going to end up requiring surgery.
Jackson's already had his.
If it's a torn laborer, he's probably going to have to have surgery.
I mean, the kids are playing through a lot of pain and you know he wants to play.
Yeah, last thing I'm going to do is question, Lamont Butler's tough.
And, you know, willing us to play.
If he can play, he would play.
But I just don't, I think it's a situation where he probably can't.
Look, these guys' careers are over.
And both, Lamont Butler especially, but probably Jackson, right, like, they're never
going to play in the NBA.
So, like, this is probably going to be the biggest games they're going to have.
So if they could get out there, Drew, they'd get out there, right?
Absolutely.
I mean, Butler got a taste of this at San Diego State, that Final Four run.
They come to Kentucky to do something bigger and finish the job.
They only have a few weeks left in their careers.
however it plays out, I assume they'd want to be out there if they had any possibility if they could.
Yeah.
Who's next?
Adam is up next.
Adam, go ahead, Adam.
Hey, guys.
I've been hit or missed on the show today, so I don't know if you've already discussed this.
Have you talked about the latest bracketology in the Lexington region?
No.
What is the Lexington region?
So the latest Lenardi update has Louisville as a 7, Arkansas as a 10.
Oh, my goodness.
Alabama is the two, but St. Johns is the three.
What if St. Johns could bump up to that two?
And you would have Louisville, John Caliperi, and Rick Patea, all coming down.
Yeah, right now.
So let me read you the Lexington.
I appreciate you bringing that up.
So right now, he's got the games in Lexington as Auburn plays against the bad team,
Marquette and Baylor.
That's not a big one.
But then the bottom half, Louisville versus Arkansas, Alabama Wofford.
Can you imagine Louisville versus Arkansas as a first round game in,
Lexington.
Who you root for in that game?
I would kind of want to be at that game.
Well, you can go if we don't go.
Louisville, Arkansas.
My goodness.
In Lexington.
That's a good question.
Who you for?
Who you're rooting for in the first round of Louisville Arkansas?
I'm going to go ahead and say it.
I'm rooting for Louisville.
Oh, wow.
Did he actually say that?
I don't know, man.
I'm rooting for Louisville.
I don't know.
I'm not rooting for Louisville past that game.
Like, if they play Alabama in the next game, roll tight.
But in...
It's SEC.
it's supposed to mean more.
But I don't want John Calipari getting a tournament win on Rupp Arena's floor.
Yeah, I don't want Louisville either, though.
But Louisville, when they won the NCAA tournament in 2013,
they won their first two games in Lexington on that run.
Remember, I was in the elevator with Tom Jurich and his son during that.
Yeah.
I'm going to go ahead and say it.
If it's Louisville, Arkansas, L1C4.
Oh, my.
Cut the audio, Rick.
Save that.
Spit water in his mouth again.
All right.
Who you pick?
What's the second?
Louisville.
Okay.
What about you?
Never Louisville for me.
Never.
So you're rooting for Arkansas?
You're saying pig sue?
No, I would not use the word rooting for Arkansas.
No, I would not use the word rooting for Arkansas.
You have to pick one.
No, over my dead body, am I saying pig suey or go cards?
But of the two evils, I would rather Arkansas get a win than Louisville.
See, for Louisville, it's about the program.
For Arkansas, it's about the coach.
So I would rather have Arkansas win than Louisville.
So it's two two, two.
2-2. What about you all here sitting here? Mario, L-1. There's one for L-1. What about you?
Pig-Sui, what you got? L-1. So, see, 4-3?
I think the point of this whole thing is you don't want Caliperie to win a game on Ruppering his floor twice this season.
To beat us and then to beat Louisville. But you picked Arkansas. No, I picked Louisville.
Oh, I'm sorry. Yes, right. You picked Louisville. I got you. Okay. Who's up next?
Mark is next. Mark. What do you got, Mark?
Good morning, gentlemen.
Good morning.
Wanted to get on Shannon.
He said people don't have things to do Saturday.
Some of us got to work, man.
I know some, but I mean like the majority of people have money through Friday jobs.
I know the world doesn't shut down on Saturdays.
Got it.
The majority of us have Saturday jobs, too.
Oh.
Oh, sorry.
Well, I guess I do too then if I'm, you know, I'm on the air Saturday.
Well, go ahead, sir.
What do you got?
I'll be up at Saturday at 5.30 just like I was this morning.
All right. Anything else?
Nah, go cat.
He just wanted us to know that he's a hardworking man.
I got you.
Go punch the clock.
He wanted you to feel bad.
I want you to feel bad, Shannon.
I appreciate the call.
Shannon, you need to feel bad.
Yes.
People work on Saturday.
All right.
Who's next?
Shane, what's up?
Hey, guys.
What a great day, man.
So today is picture day for my two little ones.
I have a fourth grader and a second grader.
and they had to get in bed early, and so the house had to shut down kind of early,
and I had to watch the game at the back of the house and be real quiet.
And, of course, you know, I'm trying to temper all my excitement during the game.
And, of course, at the end of the game, when we're looking like we're going to let this thing slip away,
I was just, you know, I was making sure that I wasn't going to wake the house up with just, you know,
yelling at the TV.
But when Otega hit that shot, man,
and when they went wild and when the SEC network was just showing all the replays,
I couldn't relax.
I could not wind down.
I was up listening to you guys until 3.30.
I had to take my cornbread, hemp, sleep gummies so I could get the bed.
I understand.
And thank God for him.
Yeah, I appreciate that.
I got to see the red, I got to see the blood moon.
I wasn't planning on it, but I got to see it.
And what an amazing, yeah, what an amazing time to be a Kentucky fan.
These guys are such a gift.
The whole team as well as the staff, as well as our coach.
You know, it's just fantastic.
And I'm so thankful for all of our fans.
that were able to make the trip down to Nashville.
I've got some friends.
I might have to cut you off right there.
I hate to do it.
I'm not to cut you out.
I appreciate the call.

Welcome back.
It is Kentucky Sports Radio 8592-28027.
Here's a little interesting story outside the world basketball for a second.
University of Texas golfer, Luke Potter.
Do you know who Luke Potter is?
He's a University of Arizona golfer.
Texas golfer.
Maybe you just listened to the first part of the story.
He was at TPC Sawgrass with his buddies, and Rory McElroy was playing and practiced around,
and he started heckling Roy McElroy.
He hit a drive on 18 into the water.
Porter was standing outside the ropes, asked for his cell, and started heckling him and was like video in him.
The problem is, because he's a golfer for Texas, somebody IDed him on the broadcast and was like,
that's Texas golfer Luke Potter.
And now he absolutely is getting done.
destroyed. He has apologized and said, yeah, I'm sorry about that. His coach, though, has a great
line, Shannon. They ask his coach, why do you, supporter, first of all, apologize. Look, I made a mistake.
I apologize for it. I'll take ownership of it. That's a good apology. But his golf coach, I think,
was trying to help him. I don't know if this helped, Drew. He goes, he's got a hole in his heart.
When he opened his mouth, he had no idea what would come out, and then it resulted in that fashion.
That's quite a statement.
Yeah, I don't think he was doing them any favors.
Just let the apology sit.
I think the apology was fine.
Yeah, let that go.
Drew, he had no, when he opened his mouth, he had no idea what words were going to come out of his mouth.
I'm looking at, Coach, what's going on there?
Throw me under the bus.
The video's neat because Rory just walks over and takes his phone out of his hand and walks off of it.
The kids just standing there stunned.
He, like, looks at the person with him, like, what just happened?
And then Rory just walks down the fairway with his phone.
It's kind of like Ryan.
You know, when he opens his mouth, they have no idea what he's going to say.
I mean, you can't just walk around smacking people,
so Roy had to take his phone and just walk down the fairway.
I think the coach is kind of saying,
it ain't the first time that Luke has said something he shouldn't have.
I'm just saying that about Ryan, though.
When he makes one of his sort of, you know,
off-color remarks.
Yeah, when he says something that I'm going to go,
you know what, when he opens his mouth,
he has no idea what's going to do.
He has a hole in his heart.
He has a hole in his heart.
And he doesn't know what to do.
All right, so Alabama, only a five-and-a-half point.
favorite, Drew, you know, I'll be honest with you. I'm not going to bet on Alabama because I
can't bet against Kentucky. But if I was going to five and a half, I'd probably bet on Alabama.
I mean, I think Kentucky's a big underdog today. Yeah, I was surprised the line was that low.
I almost wondered if they were ready to hit that button before they knew anything about Butler
because just the way, I know it was at Tuscaloosa, but they won by 12 or something down there,
played well and Rupp, won by 5 in Rupp with a healthier team. I was shocked to see it that low.
and I'm with you. I wouldn't bet on Alabama,
but you're probably not going to catch me betting on Kentucky to cover.
Which of the four games today you think could be a potential upset?
I mean, none.
I actually think oddly Texas over Tennessee is the biggest chance of an upset just because
Trey Johnson can go off.
You know, he could get.
But honestly, I think probably all four favorites win, if you make me predict.
But I don't think Missouri is great.
old miss just their style i mean they've beaten albair once so maybe maybe so but that to me that makes
it more likely albren wins so i i really don't know if any of them are going to be upset
i'm coming in oh and two in the last week i don't see a world where they're losing three in a row
i think i think i think i think texas might have the best chance even though that might be the
biggest spread uh i could see them that would be the one that's what i picked too because
tennessee they're not the greatest offensive team think about tennessee the way they play they can
beat anybody, but they can also lose because they can go long piers without score.
Right. So I don't, you know, that's my thing. Three straight days, though, is going to catch up
with you at some point. Texas is now going to be on their third straight games. And Tennessee
I'll have a lot of fans. I think we, you underrate, we get so excited about Big Blue Nation that
we underrate how many people Auburn and Tennessee bring. They're not quite at the Arkansas
peak during the 90s, but they're getting there in terms of fans. I mean, Tennessee and
Auburn have by distinctly the second and third best fan base right now, Drew, at these tournaments.
Yeah, I remember last year, and I got a little cocky and was celebrating Tennessee's early
lost, but they played them with the noon game, I think.
So we really never got that packed atmosphere where they're all there at once.
I think Tennessee fans were gone quickly, Kentucky fans were gone quickly.
This year's going to be a little different.
Yeah.
Who's up next?
Got Mike up next.
Mike, go ahead, Mike.
Hey, guys.
as a motivational deal if you were mark pope would you not bring your national championship ring
to one of the practices or even into the locker room and say hey guys you want one of these go get it
he probably already has done that i would think i mean i i would assume he has noted his national
championship days i think he did it from the first time he was there so um you know i i appreciate the call
I don't feel like you've got national championship aspirations right now.
It's a, it really is kind of a, how many more can we win, right?
That's at least the way I look at it.
And I think last night was huge.
You got a win in March at the SEC tournament in Nashville.
The fan base was just craving for it.
I still think he needs to get the win in the NCAA tournament.
You don't want to be a one and done next week to get that one.
And then I think most fans for what they've gone through, losing all these guys' injuries, will be satisfied.
Yeah, you've got to take it one day at a time.
I mean, that's just the life of the tournament.
You can't look too far ahead.
So, you know, if they can get by today, you know, they have a chance to make a miraculous run.
If they were to somehow get the Sunday, like if they were to beat Alabama.
If they were to win tonight, you should go ahead and like, say, I move my A minus 2&A for Mark Pope.
I really do.
I mean, if they win tonight, because I don't think they really have any business.
You know, we've talked about overperforming.
I think they overperform with their full roster.
You take Robinson and Butler off?
I mean, just look what we have right now.
We got the six-man at Oklahoma, right?
We got a dude that's been on a two-year mission as our point guard.
We got a transfer from Dayton, a transfer from Drexel, and a transfer from Wake Forest.
We have no business being in these games.
Kobe Brad didn't even start at Dayton.
Yeah, six-man at Dayton.
Six-man at Dayton.
Like, we have no business being in these games.
And so the fact that we do, the fact we are, I think, is a huge testament to folk.
Yeah, two of our best recruits is a kid from Lyon County and a kid from Hazard.
Harlan.
They're in the Sweet 16 Championship.
Yeah, I mean, like it's kind of.
It's like the island of misfit toys.
It is.
I don't mean any disrespect, but it's just a hodgepodge of players.
Wasn't Ansley Almanor like the fourth biggest scorer at Fairley Dickinson?
I mean, it's, there's no reason for us to be in these games, but we are, and that's awesome.
We'll take a break.
Be right back.
It's Kentucky Sports Radio.
It is time to score big.

6,000 vehicles. It's Don Franklin driven by family. We are here in Nashville.
All right. Let's go over some scheduling. Girl Suite 16 is going on in Lexington.
Games all day. Most of favorites have continued to win. So games all day. Cooper and Sacred
Heart tonight. Those are two big ones, right? Yeah, Sacred Heart's like number one. Cooper's like number
three. So it could be the state championship game. Maybe tonight in the late night game.
We will have the game at KS Bar. You know, I say get there early.
but the game, if it's like tonight, last night,
it might not start until whenever.
But get your seat.
I think it should be a great atmosphere there tomorrow,
or excuse me, tonight.
And two games in one day.
When's the last time you think Kentucky played?
How many times Kentucky you think played the majority of two games in one day?
That's a great question.
You have to go back when the SEC tournament played semifinals
and then the finals that night?
Did they do that?
I thought they did it like way back.
Like when?
Like back?
Like a time frame.
I mean, are we talking like what year?
I'll go late 70s, early 80s.
So you think they did two and one day?
I think they played the semifinals and then played the final Saturday night
before they moved it to Sunday.
The fact check you're going on.
I think you're thinking of the high school sweet 16.
I think that I'm going to throw a challenge flag.
I do not think the SEC ever played double headers for basketball.
The SEC tournament.
I mean, he's thinking of the boys sweet 16.
But he's trying to, like, act like he's not.
I think that's what it is.
You call him the Oscar Combs, a KSR?
That's true.
Oscar would know.
No, no.
He's not the Oscar.
He's Oscar Holmes, which is his cousin.
59-280-2287.
Who's next?
Doug is up next.
Doug, go ahead, Doug.
Hey, guys, it's Doug out in Spokane.
I just wanted to call and completely agree with Matt.
You cannot pull for Arkansas.
on Rupp Arena's floor.
It's going to be the cardinal.
The fans seem to agree with you.
By the way, the fans seem to agree with you.
I put the poll up.
We now have 4,000 votes.
It's 5644.
We'll cheer for Louisville.
Who would have ever thought that would be the case?
Wow.
But that gives you a sense.
And the Arkansas people have already retweeted trying to get Arkansas people to pick them.
So I bet the actual Kentucky fan number is even higher than that.
Yeah.
So all the way Louisville in that one, guys.
Appreciate it.
I have a Ryan update.
Okay.
He's right.
He's right.
I knew I was right.
From 1930 to 1950, they would occasionally do a double hitter.
Well, he said 70s and 80s, but.
I thought it went longer than that.
It looks like 1950 was the last time they did.
How did you know that, by the way?
I think it came up at one point in my long, historic career.
That's a better answer than what you normally give us.
My long.
Stayed at a holiday.
I did sleep at a holiday at Express last night.
Because you stayed at Best Western Plus.
It's not just the best.
Western, Matt. Put some respect on its name.
Can I also tell you all at home how happy both Shannon and
Ryan were to come in here and tell me, you know what they have at the
Best Western Plus? And I'm thinking, what, man? It's got to be awesome.
He was like, in the lobby, they have massaging chairs.
They do, and they're free.
And they are life-changing.
It's just like you're at Fayette Mall in 1998, except you're at the Fed.
No, I'm about to get on Amazon and buy one for my house.
I don't know how much they cost. I don't care.
It's like having a personal masseuse.
After the show, after KSR yesterday with Shannon had to do three hours.
standing up and he had to
get sitting that chair because he had a four hours
I don't care if everybody walking in the lobby sees me
publicly getting a massage from a chair I don't
care it may be a little awkward but it's fine
I hope you at least keep on a towel
oh yeah they
I'm wrapping around my waist
859280287
who's next
be careful about the flip
go ahead
okay
Matthew
Michael's our next
like that one, did you, Rick?
You guys are a real hoot.
Oh, thank you. Go ahead.
Rick.
Good morning.
Oh, good morning.
How are you?
Good, thanks.
I just want to say, you mentioned a while ago that, you know, our team, like, who do we
have on this team?
And I think it's a testament to how much heart these boys play with.
And it's just been a fantastic season to watch them.
And I enjoy listening to draw show.
I always put a smile and a laugh in the day.
And I want to get a shout out to Green County Boys Basketball.
It's been a fun season to watch them.
And lastly, happy Pye Day, everybody.
Happy what day?
Pie 3-14.
Pye Day.
Oh, 3-1-4.
There you go.
I appreciate the call.
Did not think about Pye Day.
I got something I'm going to ask you.
Okay.
Don't point at me.
The tornado game in Georgia.
Did they not play two games that day?
They played semifinals and then the finals that night?
They did.
Yeah, but Kentucky wasn't in it.
But yes, you're right.
They did do that.
Georgia won them both.
Georgia beat us, and then they won the championship came out.
Man, look at you.
Look at this guy. Kentucky wasn't in it, but you're right.
They did play two games.
Yeah, I was there for when Kentucky played Georgia.
I was one of the guys that got to sneak in.
Because the Kentucky-Bade Georgia game was in the morning,
and then they would have played later in the day had they won,
and Georgia did play later in the day.
And then Georgia won the tournament.
You're right.
What was the dude's name from Georgia that hit the shot?
Ramele hit the shot to put us ahead,
and then the white guy from Georgia, Zach?
I can seem, Galaphanakis.
What is it?
No?
No.
The Twain, don't scream things unless you know.
Sorry.
It's just, you know, it's been a long night.
He is what involved here.
859-2-2-287.
Who's next?
Mark is up next.
Mark, go ahead, Mark.
Oh, what a game, guys.
So I have now seen Otega O-WA on SportsCenter top 10 four times this year,
and he may have been on more.
I may have just missed it.
But is he now the Kentucky player that's been on SportsCenter top 10 the most?
Uh, in a season, I bet Wall was on it more, just, just looking back.
But I mean, he's got, if he's on four times, that's pretty good.
You know, Wall had a crazy set of dunks.
And so I would say Wall, but, uh, Otega, if he's on it four times, that's pretty good, Drew.
I'm trying to think what those would be.
The two buzzer beaters, I remember a big dunk, but he had a dunk on Travis Leslie of Georgia,
where the dude's still laying down.
Travis Leslie also had a dunk on cousins that game.
They went both ways.
Fox and Monk ended up on there a lot, too, if I'm not mistaken.
Yeah, but then I didn't realize that.
Before we go to break, I do want to note something, the passing of John Feinstein,
who was a sports writer.
I would argue probably the best sports book author, maybe ever, but certainly of this generation.
He started, his first book, he didn't like Kentucky, really, because his first book was he was
at Duke in 1978 and he wrote a book, actually wrote it later, but it was about the 78 Duke team,
which included, of course, they lost to Kentucky in the final. But he got famous because he wrote
Season on the Brink about Bobby Knight, which some people would say is the greatest sports book
of all time, where he followed Bobby Knight for a season. Bobby Knight was not a fan of the book,
but it is great. If you were at all a college basketball fan or reader, if you've never read season
on the brink, you need to do it. He then did a book called Season Inside.
which was about the NCAA tournament one year.
And he wrote a book about the NFL,
a book about tennis,
a book about golf,
basically went into every sport
and did kind of a season behind the scenes.
I think he's the best to ever do that.
He was kind of a curmudgeon.
He could be hard to get along with.
We had him on this show once,
if you remember at the PGA championship in Louisville.
And he was nice,
but he was also a little contentious during that.
But if you're talking about somebody
that was a master at their craft,
There's not been a better author of sports books, at least in my lifetime.
So people would pick guys from like the 50s and 60s.
But in my lifetime, nobody's been better.
68 years old, passed away.
And just a huge college basketball guy, too.
And, you know, the Bobby Knight legend for better or worse in many ways was built by that book.
So he passed away at 68.
And I wanted to say rest and peace to I own.
I rearrange my mom and I rearranged my books recently because I have.
I'd say like
probably 1,500 and 2,000 books.
I realized when we were doing it,
John Feinstein,
I have the second most books of any author
from him,
which is kind of amazing.
Because I, you know,
but I think I have almost everything he wrote.
So,
wrote a great one you would like,
Ryan,
about the Army Navy Robert.
Oh, I would like that.
He followed Army and Navy for a year.
I think he called it Civil War,
and it's a really good book.
I think he would like that.
So,
Rest in peace to John Fonstein.
859-2807.

All right.
Let's do our draft king's SEC picks of the day.
Old Miss, Auburn.
Auburn's an 11-a-half-point favorite against Old Miss.
You can go on draft kings and let it go.
I got to take Ole Miss.
You give me 11 and a half.
It just beat them last week.
I don't think they're going to win, but I got 11.5.
Yeah, you give me 11 and a half.
I'm going to take Ole Miss.
I don't know how I cannot take Ole Miss and 1⁄2.
Maybe that's what they want you to think.
You know, Dwayne over there who's been wrong at every pick, he says Auburn to cover.
So this might just burble.
Yeah.
I give you one guess.
Was that Mario?
Okay, I got it.
Hovey is a good guess.
That echoed.
Yeah, that was a big one.
You know, not knowing the number, I was ready to take Auburn about any scenario, but that's, that's too high. I'm going on Miss.
All right, Texas, Tennessee. Tennessee's a 10 and a half point favorite. Give me Texas. I guess I'm taking the dogs to take these covers.
These points, Perez, are pretty hefty. I'm going to go with Texas. Texas. Tennessee's on upset alert. Texas may win this game.
I don't think they're on upset alert, but I'll go hook them to cover the spread. Florida's a nine and a half point favorite on Missouri. I'm going to take Florida to cover that. I think they, I think they blow Missouri.
Yeah, Missouri's been on the downtrend.
I don't know what's going on with them lately, but I'll take Florida.
I agree with you.
Yeah, Missouri won last dive, but they struggle.
They'd win that games.
I'm going to Florida.
We're just going to keep agreeing.
All right, Kentucky Alabama, pass.
Alabama's a seven and a half-point favorite.
You know, I can see a world where Kentucky could hang with Alabama within seven and a half.
I don't know that I would pick Kentucky to win.
I'd have to win if we had Butler.
Yeah, I would too.
Yeah, I could see them maybe losing by four, maybe five, something like that.
I'll take Kentucky to cover.
I, too, will pass.
Okay.
Drew?
I'll take Kentucky to cover, but I really like the over.
That was lower than I thought it'd be.
I hit the over last night.
I'm doing well on totals down here.
Let's just a couple other rank teams playing each other.
Marquette, St. John.
St. John's a four and a half point favorite at home.
Marquette almost lost to Xavier yesterday.
St. John's.
You take St. John's to get the cover.
Clemson, Louisville tonight.
Clemson's a one and a half point favorite.
I take Clemson in this one.
Yeah, I mean, like we pointed out earlier,
Louisville hasn't played anybody.
Big guy, Shepler, and Clemson gets the win.
Go Tigers.
This is a great.
It's going to be, to me, this is a game to see, like, is Louisville good?
Because Louisville beat Clemson earlier this year, but it was at their home place.
Clemson shot, like, 14% from the field.
I'm going to take Louisville because I think they're better than a lot of people think,
even though I don't think they're great.
So if you're giving me a point in a half, I'll take that.
You got a lot of picking Louisville in this show today.
By the way, 50, it's, I never thought I'd see a day.
that any, I mean, the fact that Louisville, 56% of our fans would pick Louisville over Arkansas,
I never thought I'd see a day our fans would ever pick Louisville over anyone that was not named Duke or Tennessee.
There are times I could see a scenario where they would pick Duke or Louisville over Duke in Tennessee,
but to pick them over a non-Duke in Tennessee school, I don't think I'd ever see today, but 56% pick Louisville.
Is it the fact that it's Cal?
Yeah, I mean, wherever Cal went, wherever Cal went would be the,
I mean, the answer is cow.
If it was a Cal like Oklahoma, it would be Oklahoma.
We hate it. Isn't it?
And we don't have a lot of reason to hate Kelsey yet, and we beat him pretty good at Rupp Arena.
And he's done a good job with that.
I do think that's part of it.
We did beat Louisville.
We did beat Arkansas at Rup.
But it's Cal.
If you ever want anyone to explain why this fan base was ready to move on, 56% of them would choose
pick Louisville against him, for goodness sake.
That is a pretty damning poll result there for how the fan base felt about Cal there at the end.
Yeah.
Who's up next?
Got Ed up next.
Ed, go ahead, Ed.
Hey, Matt.
I've been a Kentucky fan for a long time.
I'm 68 years old, and I've seen a lot of great games and victories.
And I got a rank last night.
It's one of my top seven for the following reasons.
One, we had to overcome no point card.
two with some bad officiating three you had a 10-point leave with a minute to go or some change
then five seconds to go you're down one you're in a tournament situation and we won it just ranks
up there within the top 10 within i totally i don't know if it's in the top 10 but it's it's high for me
i appreciate the call i mean that if we had just let's say we didn't blow it at the end
Shannon and we just won by 11.
I think people would have enjoyed the game, but it wouldn't be quite the same.
I think the way it happened is part of why it'll be remembered.
Yeah, the way it was won, all the factors that go into it.
It's just makes it a special game.
We thought we were going home.
That's what makes it so much crazy.
You're also doing a twice-year-old team.
That's one thing.
But most people in that building, when Oklahoma got that one point leave,
that was it.
It was like we're heading to the car.
I was upstairs until Dwayne spoiled the ending, and I was already thinking,
what am I going to say on the post-game show?
First of all, will anyone call?
And secondly, what am I going to say?
And what are we going to do tomorrow?
Yeah.
I mean, I'd already go through that.
The tone of the show would have been completely different, I think.
Oh, my goodness.
I mean, it was actually the turkey hunter over here who said after the game, this fan base needed that one.
I honestly think they could lose today and losing the first round.
And this fan base will be a lot better off because they won yesterday.
Just because they got that.
I think that one yesterday is going to be, or this morning is going to be Ryan, a massive one for the fan base.
Like it's definitely true for this weekend.
Just to win one in Nashville and the way they won it.
Maybe not to lose to a 14-C.
But if you lost to the sixth seed in the second round next weekend.
I think me personally, I would be okay with that.
If we win the first game next week, lose the second game,
we're Butler's not, maybe not even close to 100%.
I'd take that.
To show our excitement, my wife just texted me, she's on Broadway,
and they're full bars watching a replay of the game.
Yeah, we'd have the replay on right here, too.
They're cheering like it's, you know, live right now.
Who would have thought?
Oklahoma would be the game that we all remember.
What's next?
Porter Moser, by the way, was crying during his postgame press conference.
Because he saw a mirror.
Yeah.
Go ahead.
Caten is up next.
Caten, go ahead.
Hey, there.
Long-term, long-time Wildcat fan, went to the UK.
But there's a random question I have if you could settle it for my office.
with all the hubbub about Rick Petino right now and big red storm and all that.
We know they're playing tonight.
Does he still have that big red cardinal on his back?
I think he does.
I think he does.
Yeah, I think he still has the cardinal on his back.
I don't think Rick's gotten the tattoo removal that Pete Davidson got.
I think it is still on there.
It's probably a little saggy now, to be honest with you, but it's there.
Okay, well, thank you.
That settles up.
Appreciate it.
I have a little update on that.
I was watching old SEC tournament videos from the mid-90s getting excited for this.
And in it, he said he wouldn't get a tattoo if Kentucky won the 96 title.
They're all talking about getting tattoos and stuff, and he said he wouldn't do it.
He didn't have his mid-life crisis yet.
Yeah.
Goes and does it at Louisville.
I'm hurt.
We need to carve that thing off.
Target just said he looked like a Dick Tracy villain last night, and he really did.
Porter Moser.
That's going to be, that's what I'm going to remember about his era, because he might get fired.
and I will remember him with that suit he wore last night, honestly.
I didn't know his job was in jeopardy.
He got him into the NCAA tournament the first year in a conference ever.
It may not be now that he's made the turn.
But early, like three weeks ago, they were suggesting that it was in jeopardy.
All right, so let's talk about schedule here.
We will be back at 7 Eastern for the pregame show.
We will be live at 10 roof.
That's 6th Central.
If you're in Nashville, I'd say come early and see us.
We're going to be set up there.
We decided to do it.
It wasn't an original plan.
But you know what?
We're having fun.
So why not?
If you see us around, please say, hey, if you're in Lexington,
go watch the games today at KS Bar and then especially for the Kentucky Beck game.
And if you're at KS Bar and you're, send me, Mario wasn't there,
so I didn't get to see any, see videos.
Take a video if it's going on.
I hope we, you know, who knows.
Let's do it.
Strange the things have happened, right?
Hard to beat a team three times.
That's what they say.
Hard to beat a three.
We've only lost three times once that I can find.
And that was 2014 to Florida.
And by the way, that team went to the championship game.
So even if it happens, we can still feel good about it.
Thank you guys who stayed up with me last night.
Thanks for getting up this morning.
We'll see you later.
