Starting point is 00:02:57 Stockton Mortgage, NMLS 8259 Equal Housing Lender, NMLS Consumer Access.org. Welcome back. Hour number two here live in Milwaukee at our embassy Airbnb, old and haunted, but filled with us. We're going to do a Cribs tour, or Mario and Drew are a little later, so you look for that this afternoon. Text machine is 772-752524, Shannon. I'm finding out things about Kentucky's hotel where Kentucky's staying. We just saw a picture. The St. Kate's Hotel.
Starting point is 00:03:30 Let me give you some facts. First of all, when you walk into the St. Kate's Hotel and you check in in Milwaukee, they give you a glass of champagne. So our players might be lit. We don't need that. That's all right. Nope.
Starting point is 00:03:41 Don't be partaking in that. We've got a lot of number 21, though. I know that. We're about post games. So you think our team all that's got their little flutes out and toasted? You can't do that. Can't be doing it. It's right.
Starting point is 00:03:54 It was named in 2024, one of the 10 best hotels. in America for brides. Well, half the team's engaged. I'm sure their wives are with them. It's like, here's where we're going to go. It's going to come right back. I just saw a couple pictures online of the rooms, and they are, whoa.
Starting point is 00:04:12 I mean, look, and I'm not saying whoa, like, nice, whoa, like, are you insane? Their rooms are made of vibrant and eclectic canvas. Look at that room right there. This is where our players are staying before the game. Looks like a teenage girl designed it. All the patterns and colors. Mario's not having it.
Starting point is 00:04:29 You don't like that, Mario? I want you to think about that's where Otega Oway is going to stay before. I don't know that I like that. I need the players getting in the mindset to, you know, be ready to beat somebody's brains and not staying in a partial hotel. I'm going to tell you. If you're listening, I can't describe what this looks like. You just need to Google it. St. Kate's Arts Hotel Rooms.
Starting point is 00:04:50 By the way, somebody later sent me to Google trends of how I always like when we say something like that and how it goes up. But like this is where our players are staying. It looks like it's like... There's leopard print carpet. There's leopard print carpet. Every wall has a different color and pattern, and there's a pattern on the ceiling. I think that would be hard to get rest in there. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:09 That looks like a place, someone with mushrooms. I'm kind of ashamed of my guys to be like at a motel 6 and bring their lunch pail to work. I don't want them to bring their... You don't want to be at a motel 6. They should be at the embassy with us. This embassy. This is where they're staying. It reminds me of the time we stayed in the quilt boutique.
Starting point is 00:05:24 Remember that? Oh, yeah. I remember that. I mean, look at that. I couldn't sleep in that. No. So people who don't, I can't do it justice. Like, it's like bright colors, leopard print, but like eight different prints.
Starting point is 00:05:37 One on the ceiling, one on the wall, one on the floor, one on the table. It's kind of psychedelic looking. The Vibrate and Ecclux rooms at St. Kate, the Arts Hotel. All the rooms are like that then. I don't know about all, but that one is. If we lose Detroit, it's because of this hotel. I'm blaming it on this.
Starting point is 00:05:53 Bacquaint. Go stay at a holiday and express next time, not a boutique. So we have champagne and art. I don't like it. It's not good for basketball weekend. I don't like the vibes about this whole situation right now. I don't either. I think every team's staying at a double tree getting that free cookies winning today.
Starting point is 00:06:08 Still, I should go through and find all those teams. No one that knows where Alabama State is. It may just be rolling in right now. They're in an Airbnb somewhere. They're there. Your house? There runs pool right now. I wondered what I did with my house when I left.
Starting point is 00:06:20 That's right. I gave it to Alabama State. Guys, lots of books. Two chains may be with him. He played at Alabama State, right? Yeah, we learned that yesterday. He played. All right, so let's go the phones.
Starting point is 00:06:32 Who's up first? Jimmy is up first. Jimmy, go ahead, Jimmy. Hey, Jimmy here. I can hear you fine, Matt. I just want to say, Jimmy loves Rick. But I want to ask you, do you know about the goose controversy
Starting point is 00:06:48 at Cains and Nicholasville? I don't, but I already like it. There's a goose controversy at the Cains and Nicholsville. ville. Oh, it's hair on Facebook up. I'm telling you. Listen, so there's a goose family, geese family,
Starting point is 00:07:03 goose family, whatever. They're living in the parking lot of the canes, all right? And somebody got out of the car and hit a goose with a pillow. Yep, that's right. And get this. Somebody. I mean, listen, are you telling me the truth or are you trying to be funny? Like, is this a real thing or are you trying to make a joke?
Starting point is 00:07:23 dude this is nicholasville i'm serious that's how it is down there so listen the video got on facebook and now oh there is a video okay hang on we're pulling up the video all right so wait a minute oh there it was in the while all right drew doesn't know how to work a computer but it was in the washington post no it's in the what's happening in nicholasville that's not quite the same with the was a little different yeah uh so yeah he's getting out of the canes close. And then he, oh, wow. Wait a minute, he does beat the ghost with the pillow.
Starting point is 00:07:58 Multiple hits. Who is this guy? So the question is, does he deserve a $15,000 fine in one-year jail term? I don't know if he deserves jail, but that's really terrible. Okay, so I appreciate the call. I thought this dude was kidding. But this guy, if you go to Facebook, it's on the what's happening in Nicholsville Facebook page, which is the top post is someone selling a chair.
Starting point is 00:08:20 But you have to, you have to scroll down. And then when you scroll down, this guy is getting out of his van at Keynes in Nicholsville, and he takes a pillow out of the back of his van and just starts hitting a goose. Oh. Why did he do that? That's animal abuse. That's animal abuse. Yeah, cruelty to animals.
Starting point is 00:08:41 He should get, yes, I don't know about prison, but he definitely, that guy should definitely get a fine and should be, get a misdemeanor. You cannot walk around with a pillow beating goose and the cane, geese in the canes in the canes part. And a ban from Keynes. You never get to go to a lifetime ban. And he just drives off. He just hits the goose. Yeah. First of all,
Starting point is 00:09:00 why was that person filming that, by the way? I don't know. Just sitting at Keynes filming the parking lot. But maybe he can't. Maybe that was like the second time, you know? This was March 16th. So what was that? That was Sunday.
Starting point is 00:09:11 Right? Sunday. Sunday. Yeah, Sunday. What day was it? He literally just repeated. People accused him of repeating by that. He went, he went Sunday.
Starting point is 00:09:23 just Sunday. So I think the guy needs to be sentenced to clean up all the goose poop over there at the canes because they leave poop like everywhere. Oh, so you know about these canes geese? No. Geese just anywhere. Like they're at my bank. They just hang out on the bank.
Starting point is 00:09:37 There's goose poop everywhere. We used to have geese that would hang out the radio station. They would get mad at us and they would get on the roof right above the studio and start stomping. We were talking about that last night. You could hear it. The old days of KSR, you'd hear pecking. And it was geese pecking at the roof. Well, there you go.
Starting point is 00:09:51 again, NCAA tournament preview. The fighting geese. There are geese and Keyes. Montgomery County, banked in a three at the buzzer last night to beat, upset George Rogers Clark in a packed house in Mazeville. Maseville was rocking like it hasn't rocked in years, and they're in the Sweet 16.
Starting point is 00:10:09 First time, I don't know, in a long time, or? Yeah, it was at Montgomery County. It was in Mount Sterling. Which one of said? Oh, no, I said Masewell. Sorry, not sorry, yeah. And it was Caden Reed, banked in a three-pointer.
Starting point is 00:10:19 He was not even eligible to, like, a couple weeks ago, Banks into three-pointers sends Moco to the Sweet 16, because GRC has dominated that region for last few years. So how long has it been for Moco? I don't know. It's got to be at least 15, maybe, I'm going to say five. Because actually, after I said that, this has been an award-winning segment from Ryan right here. Actually, after I said that, I think they were there like about five years ago.
Starting point is 00:10:44 Because you guys made fun of me because I was calling a Moco. It's been a long time ago, like 15, maybe five. How did he just get eligible for the tournament? That sounds like a story in itself. Well, he transferred from Mason County, and the KHSA didn't really be eligible to like the end of January. Okay, so he's been more than just the tournament.
Starting point is 00:11:03 It's been so much. It looks like, according to Kentucky SportsRadio.com, first time since 2013 that they've been there. So you're closer at the first out. Yeah. Well, congratulations to Montgomery had banked in a three at the buzzer, Drew. The video is great of the people who have kids rushing the court.
Starting point is 00:11:17 It was a cool scene. Yeah, I mean, whatever happens at State, They could win a game, not win a game. That will be something, that kid and his teammates, and maybe even the students there remember forever. I mean, they rush the court. You just don't get that very often to win a regional tournament, punch your ticket to Rupperino.
Starting point is 00:11:31 I think about the losing team. Imagine losing on a banked in shot. What a way to lose, man. We've seen our best here. The DRC's like won the region every year. They'll probably be all right. Who's next? Sparky is up next.
Starting point is 00:11:44 Sparky. How are you, Sparky? Good morning, Matt. I get my primary radio listening from either KSR or NPR. Has anyone called to talk about Kentucky being featured on Morning Edition today? No, what was on? I like Morning Edition.
Starting point is 00:12:04 Okay, so they were doing a story. A. Martinez was doing a story about Cinderella teams and explaining to your average NPR listener that, you know, may not understand how brackets work. The unfortunate part was the guy they brought on kept talking about Cinderella teams beating Kentucky over the last year. So they talked about Jack Gilkey, they talked about, say, Peters, and they compared us to Purdue, which historically KSRs had a lot of conversation, hating on Purdue, bonging in the tournament.
Starting point is 00:12:34 And so I really don't want our team to go down in history, feeling compared to Purdue. We got to beat Troy and get this bad taste out of our merch. Yeah, Purdue's had a number of losses to lower-seeded teams. I appreciate the call. I've been on NPR to talk the tournament a number of times because they used to have a producer from Kentucky. and they would have me sort of explain to the, you know, nerds of America what the NCAA tournament is. But in all reality, if we were to lose to Troy and three of the last four years go down to a 14-seed or worse, that puts us in some pretty horrible company.
Starting point is 00:13:09 And Purdue is really the other one that that's happened to over the years. We just can't let that happen, Drew. No, I mean, I think most people, when you get your bracket, you kind of look who produced plan because you know it can happen. It happened twice in three years before they had the Final Four run last year. Also, Anzley Almanor knocked Purdue out as a number one season. That's not forget. Almanor was some magic. But someone sent me a screenshot.
Starting point is 00:13:32 Apple TV, which I used to love, it had their March Madness four games to watch that it recommends on the homepage. And it was Texas Western, Christian Leitner, and Oakland were three of the four. So we're already kind of getting that treatment this season going into the Troy game. Hubby's wife, Sarah, who is also one of my money. helper. I guess that has a term. Not money. Financial advisor? Better. My money helper.
Starting point is 00:14:01 This is like we're drunk and it's Thursday morning of it. She says she's from Montgomery County and she says that they went in 2013 but before that it was 1995. So they've only been once since 1995. Big win. Big win. They were lined up
Starting point is 00:14:16 two hours before they even opened up the doors I think in Montgomery County yesterday. We have crashed the St. Kate's Art Hotel No way. I got to give a shout out to a friend of mine. He texted me earlier this week about the St. Kate's Hotel and how nice it is and how good the restaurants are. And he said he hopes Kentucky is staying there.
Starting point is 00:14:32 So maybe it is the place to be. That was sent long before we got here. I will say back before they, when I was looking at places to stay, I almost picked that. But it was a little out of what I heart was going to pay. And so I was like, well, so we could have been there. We could have been on the scene. Instead, we're here. We're at a mansion instead.
Starting point is 00:14:50 I thought we have more fireplaces than the other place. There's a fireplace in every room in this house. They had to do something with all the bodies. Who's up next? What is wrong with us? Got Josh up next. Josh, go ahead, Josh. Hey, Matt, what's up?
Starting point is 00:15:08 It is the greatest time of year. This is the first year I've actually taken off today and tomorrow. Oh, that's awesome. This is the time to do it, yes. Oh, yeah, trying to reverse some of the mojo for the past couple years. I got my two TV set up. I'm ready to go. Also, one more thing.
Starting point is 00:15:23 Hey, Drew. Yes. My wife said, sup. Let's have a weekend, boys. Whoa. His wife's going on there. I don't know. It's not like an invitation.
Starting point is 00:15:35 It's up. It's kind of interesting. I feel like there's been more thirst towards the KSR hosts in recent years or in the recent weeks. Well, we just get older and more handsome. I think that's right. Especially Ryan.
Starting point is 00:15:51 You're about the other. So I said this on the drive here. You're more comfortable in your skin now that I've ever seen. Why not? You just feel like you just feel like you is who you is at this point. And I actually very much, I appreciate that about you. Well, thank you. Be proud of who yourself, Matthew, and you'll be a happy person.
Starting point is 00:16:09 You are happy. That's what I like about you. I think he's also being more consistent. It's like where we're, where Mario said that? Because his inconsistency went to Mario, who was late yesterday. He's past the curse. An hour late for March. Can you imagine if you walked into Mark Pope's practice an hour late, what he would have said?
Starting point is 00:16:26 He would not be happy, but I let you get one. Hey, Kentucky, we've experienced some major storms lately. Hope your family is safe. But if you have storm damage, serve pro can help restore the damage to as good as new. Fire, water, cleanup, restoration. They're independently owned and operated. It's 1-800 serve pro, S-E-R-V-P-R-O.com. Hope you don't have to use them.
Starting point is 00:16:49 But if you do call, you can always call quickly after a store, and they'll get there and clean it up. 1-800, S-E-R-V-P-R-O or servepro.com. Franchises are independently owned and operating. We'll take a break. Be right back. KSR. Last night, a blown call changed a game.
Starting point is 00:17:05 This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending, opinions are flying, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where Sports Slice comes in. From viral moments to historic games, from buzzer beaters to controversial calls, we break it down, give you context and ask the questions everybody wants answered. And for more, follow Timbo Slic Life 12 and the TikTok podcast network on TikTok. Welcome to my new podcast, Learn the Hardway with me, your host,
Starting point is 00:17:58 and your favorite therapist, Kear Games. And in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, I'm bringing over a decade of my own experience in the mental health field and conversations with so many incredible guests. I'm talking, Tripp Fontaine, Ryan Clark. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing. And we're still chasing it. And we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch.
Starting point is 00:18:24 Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth? Are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust.
Starting point is 00:18:39 I want you to just really be a good person. Join me, Kear Gaines, is we have real conversations about healing, growth, fatherhood, pressure, and purpose on my new podcast, Learn the Hardway. Open your free iHeartRadio app. Search Learn the Hardway and listen now. Jacob Kingston grew up in an isolated polygamist sect.
Starting point is 00:18:59 We were God's chosen kingdom on earth. He felt destined for greatness. So when a swaggering Armenian businessman catapults Jacob into an extraordinary world, he doesn't look back. Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, meeting the president of Turkey. I'm Michelle McPhee, and this is one of the most shocking criminal conspiracies I've ever come across. When Jacob met Levin this went to a billion dollar fraud.
Starting point is 00:19:28 But with two kings from entirely different worlds, just how long can their empire survive? The largest tax investigation in American history. You need to tell me what you know. Is somebody coming after me? Jacob told Levan, you're ruining my life. Listen to Kingdom of Fraud on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Life throws hurdles big and small. The question is, how do you conquer them?
Starting point is 00:20:00 On Hurtle with Emily Abadi, we sit down with the most inspiring women in sports and wellness, professional athletes, coaches, and Olympic champions, to talk about the challenges that shaped them and the mindset that keeps them going. From the WNBA standout Kate Martin and rising hockey star Layla Edwards. A boy can do it. I don't see why a girl can't. Like, I've never understood that. Like, it didn't make sense in my brain. It's hard to be in spaces that no one looks like you, but don't ever feel like you don't belong. Don't let that be the reason you don't do it.
Starting point is 00:20:28 An Olympic champs Gabby Thomas and Katie Ledecki. The ability to show a gold medal to someone and have their face light up and smile, that means the world to me. And that's what motivates me to win more gold medals. At our level, at this scale, like being able to fail in front of the entire world. Like, I can do anything. I can do anything. Because resilience isn't just about winning.
Starting point is 00:20:51 It's about showing up, even when it's hard. Listen to Hurtle with Emily Abadi on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHart Women's Sports. Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio. 859-28027. Text machine 772-7-47-45254. A lot of people really praising this show.
Starting point is 00:21:14 I think they like it when we're... I think they like it when we're on the road. I've always, in my opinion, our shows are always the best when we're on the road, but not in a crowd. To me, these are the best KSR shows. The best shows we do. Could we get a little giddy? On the road without a crowd, just sitting around.
Starting point is 00:21:31 We do get giddy. So you got that tomorrow during the day. I don't know what we're going to do for the pregame show. I'm hoping to find a place to do a public one. We'll see. But I always think people like these the most. Well, most morning shows, we haven't seen each other since the last morning show. But when we're on the road, we have things like Ryan's wallet floating down the street.
Starting point is 00:21:49 That's right. Popping into a casino for dinner. So there's a lot more stories to tell. I have where Alabama State. Okay. The Candlewood Suites on Newtown Pike. That's it. Cahillwood Suites.
Starting point is 00:21:59 Yeah. I thought that was only Embassy Suites. Where's Candlewood Suites? It's the one like right inside New Circle Road on Newtown Pike. Oh, okay. That place. You want to know how much a Candlewood Suit hotel room is? Kate what?
Starting point is 00:22:13 St. Kate? No, Candlewood Suites. How much? $66 a night. There we go. That's why, unfortunately, for Alabama State. They just shot their wad at Dayton. Okay, okay.
Starting point is 00:22:24 But honestly, would you rather have your team in a $68 motel where they're laser-focused or that Lisa Frank? I'm kind of with you. I'm with you too. So you think we should have stayed at the Candlewood's sweet. We need some grit. Yes. I think we're going to come out.
Starting point is 00:22:37 We're going to come out and play well. And when the players are asked why they're going to go, just we had an eccentric hotel room. with lots of beautiful blankets and comforters, and it made his work. I'm actually going to ask them at the press conference today. The leopard print threw them off if they got good sleep. Is it too pink? Well, I mean, I don't know if all the rooms are like that. Some of the rooms are clearly.
Starting point is 00:22:59 It looked like a lot of them are that way. Are clearly like that. For those of us of a certain age, kind of exciting, Drew, they're bringing back the starberries. Stefan Marbury, when I was a kid, and I thought this was actually really cool of him. as sneakers went got really expensive and jordan's at that point like a hundred dollars which now they're two hundred dollars but they were a hundred dollars stephan marbury put out shoes
Starting point is 00:23:23 that were at those what was the name of the store of the the they had one in middlesborough that like sweatshirts were like three dollars oh i was they only sold them at one place it was like called bud and joes or something no they had one in middlesbrill they had one at the mall and lexington too i think what was it called anyway point being somebody'll know 7772 7754 he sold them for like $8 or $10. It was like some insanely small amount. And his reasoning was I want everybody to be able to have access to these shoes, which I thought was cool.
Starting point is 00:23:54 And he called them the Starberries. Is it Stephen Barry's? Stephen Barry's. I knew it was two people. That's exactly right. Stephen Barry's. I don't think that store exists anymore. So he must be selling it somewhere else.
Starting point is 00:24:04 But now Stefan Marbury is putting the starberries out again, $15. Got to go up a little bit for inflation. But I still think that's cool. $15 for a. sneaker like that, you know, is an NBA player, former NBA player? I think that's cool. I think it's very cool, too. I remember him doing that.
Starting point is 00:24:20 I even wanted a pair. I loved Stefan Marbury in his time. But no, they were a big deal. And I hope they are again, you know, sneakerhead is such a big part of basketball culture now. I hope these aren't mocked and that people embrace them. I'll wear some starberries. Even people that can afford the higher price shoes. I hope they rock them too.
Starting point is 00:24:36 Embrice it. I mean, don't buy them all up so it doesn't get to the people that you want. But that way, if someone, you know, big is wearing them. Someone else that doesn't have as much money can still do it. I think that is one of the things about, like, high-end sneakers. A lot of people can't afford them. I think I don't know much about Steph Marbury except his starberries. I do he was a really good player, but I always thought that was a cool thing.
Starting point is 00:24:54 I mean, where else can you find $15 shoes? So, that's pretty cool that he's doing that. Shack did this too with Walmart, and I thought it was very cool years ago. Good for him. But Shaq, you know, he could put out a Reebok for whatever he wanted, and he chose to do this route, too. And Stefan Mulberry like in Japan or China? Like he's worshiped there. He's got like a statue.
Starting point is 00:25:13 Yeah, they do. I think you're right about that. They love him there. I think you're right because he's like, I think it's China. There's some place where he's really, really big. He was big in Beijing for a long time. Who's up next, Rick? Casey is up next.
Starting point is 00:25:24 Casey, how are you, Casey? Hey, good morning, fellas. It's great to hear you guys on the road. You all are the best on the road for sure. I just wanted to give a quick congrats to my alma mater, Montgomery County, Mokosos, going to Rupp. And then also, I had a question, why in the world is college the only ones that don't play quarters? And they still play half.
Starting point is 00:25:46 And that's all had for you guys. I mean, they should play quarters. Appreciate the call. Jay Billis has said, I think it's coming. Yeah, I think it's coming. They did it, I think, in some preseason at tournaments this year. Might even happen this offseason. I think we probably got a year or so left.
Starting point is 00:26:00 The reason they didn't was because it was just tradition. But I think it's, I mean, women's game is quarters. Sure. So I think the men's coming at some point. NBA, international, high school, women's college, you name it. Everyone is doing quarters now. And it'll go faster. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:15 Because now we're at these three-hour games, they've got to do something anyway. It'll go faster because you have 5,000 each quarter to get in a bonus, which is 10, really, if you add them up. So, Shannon, we're headed that way, and we need to because the games are too slow. I agree. Yeah, with women's college basketball being four quarters, there's no reason the men aren't doing it. Like you said, except for tradition. That's not good reason not to change, though. People argue about media timeouts going away, but just make the gap between quarters a little longer than what a traditional timeout would be.
Starting point is 00:26:42 And then you can get in your commercials. Guys can get a little more rested. I totally agree with that. But they need to do quarters. All right. So the games are in Lexington today. Let's do our Draft King's selections. We're not going to pick every game.
Starting point is 00:26:56 We're just going to pick the games that are in Lexington. So Louisville and Creighton at this point, let's see. Louisville is a two and a half point favorite. Who you got? I'm going all Creighton. I don't think anybody in red should be allowed to win in Rupp Arena, so I'm going to collect Creighton's blue. We're going Creighton. I'm going to go Louisville.
Starting point is 00:27:13 I think Louisville covers the two and a half and wins in Lexington. The first bet I placed in March Madness was Creighton plus two and a half. So I like them to cover, and I'm with you. I'm going to take Louisville to win and cover. Alabama State is a 31.5 point underdog against Auburn. But they're staying at the Candlewood Suites? But they are at the Candlewood Suites. Are they able to cover?
Starting point is 00:27:36 Yeah, I think what Auburn ate at Jeff Ruby, so their bellers are going to be full. So I think maybe Alabama State may cover that 31. Give me Alabama State and the 31 and a half. I like it. They should have eaten it. If Alabama State had eaten in KS Bar, I would have liked. Oh, yeah. I would have given them the royal treatment.
Starting point is 00:27:52 I don't know what that means, but I would have. Give them like a foot rub while they're eating their wings. I would not give them a foot rub. But I'm going to pick them to cover. I say they cover against Auburn today. Actually, yes, I'll say they cover. I got them at 32 and a half. half. I got an extra point here. I already bet it.
Starting point is 00:28:06 You can't beat a team by 33 points in the first round, so I'm going Alabama State. Wofford is an 18.5 point underdog. They are staying out at the double tree, so they got the cookies. Does Tennessee cover? You know, I think Wofford covers that. Because I think what I understand here in our podcast yesterday, they both kind of play the same way. I think it's going to be a slowdown game. I think Wofford covers that. Wofford's the slowest team in the country. I think Wofford covers, and hear me out here, it comes down to a. free throw and they got the old man that does the granny shots and that's the difference in them
Starting point is 00:28:38 covering with a granny shot it's too many points with the style of play yeah plays a lot of defense they're not going to run up the score you convince me wafford covers carriers old man gets the wing and real quick 30 seconds UCLA Utah State UCLA's a five and a half point favorite UCLA wins and covers I like Utah State in this one UCLA my only favorite covering now I'm gonna say UCLA wins and covers usually what is it the Mountain West team seated 10 or worse better are one in 29 one and 29. Yeah, one in 29 against the spread. Against the spread. One in 29. So let's just keep it going with with this. 859-2-80-2287. Text machine, 772-7-7-4. We're going to take a break. We'll come back. We're right here in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. We're going to get a KSburger here at some point. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:25 Yeah. I'm out. Yes. We'll take a break. Be right back. It's KSR. Welcome back. Techie Sports Radio. 859-8-280 2287. It is illegal. to harm a Canadian geese because they're federally protected. And the people say that those geese at the canes are Canadian. So that guy might be in a little bit of trouble, you know. I mean, I'm going to say he should be in trouble. It's not like he was just walking. Not that you should ever do it, but, I mean, that's a decision to pull over your car,
Starting point is 00:29:57 pop your trunk, go get the pillow, and then run up to him. Good thing, though, is if he gives a million dollars, Trump will pardon him. So it'll be fine. Don't worry about it. I don't, don't write me. I know Biden part of people. It was a joke. Shut up.
Starting point is 00:30:09 All right, go ahead. No, you should never wake up and choose violence against the goose. No, you should. What did the goose do to that guy that made him so mad? Quacked, really loud. They are kind of bullies. They are. They are good.
Starting point is 00:30:21 Geese can be mean. Like, they chased our news guy across the park in the ice can be mean. A couple of years ago. Come at you. That's what they do. They hiss at you. This is an all-star performance from Ron Ryan. Did you get into the bruce?
Starting point is 00:30:36 Irvin this morning. St. Cates, the St. Kate's Hotel only has five rooms that are decorated by artists like that. Okay.
Starting point is 00:30:42 So I like this question. This person on the text machine writes, what five members of the team or coaching staff would be most likely to choose the artist decorated rooms? All right.
Starting point is 00:30:53 Number one, Mark Pope. Mark Pope is first choice. But he would certainly choose the art room. Absolutely. He's kind of an artsy. I don't think there's any question. I've got the player.
Starting point is 00:31:04 First, first pick. Who? Kirk, Kirk Cresa, yes. And he would request it. Mark Pope and Kirkreisa are the top two. I don't know anything about him, but I'm feeling like Walker Horns going to be in one of those
Starting point is 00:31:16 rooms. I just feel like Walker Horns kind of like, you know what I want? I want some leopard print. And being a holdover, a veteran, he gets first pick. So I'm sure he went straight to it. Mari Williams is British, you know, they're. That's what I was going to go with. I think that weird them out.
Starting point is 00:31:32 Yeah, but British people, they, you know, they're not weird. They're just more artistic. They're into like, you know, things having symbols and all that. So I think those are my first four. Who's fifth? You got Amari Williams, Pope Kerr, and Walker Horn. Who's our fifth? I want to eliminate Brandon Garrison.
Starting point is 00:31:52 I just don't see him. Yeah. No. He wants a room. He wants a manly room. Colin Chandler, he would get in trouble with his wife if he stayed in a room like that. Or what if our two Kentucky guys, no way. No.
Starting point is 00:32:05 Trent Noah cannot send a picture back to Harlan in that room. What if the engaged players' wives wanted it? And, you know, they're about to get married. I don't think that's going to happen with Chandler. Who else do we have engaged, though? So we're down there. Carr? Car and his wife are going to want it just like as a romantic.
Starting point is 00:32:22 So Carr, Kerr, Pope, Walker, and Amari Williams. That's a good five. I can't see Otega away taking that room. I can't either. I have to say Trit No and Travis Perry last. Yeah. I do not see Lyme County. Can you imagine him walking in and seeing that hotel room?
Starting point is 00:32:38 No, he's probably got a houseboat on the lake over here, just trying to be close to home. You think he's staying out on the water? There's a lake. Oh, maybe he'll play well being close to a big body of water. That's true. Is Tyler Hero our only player we've ever had from Milwaukee or even the state of Wisconsin? I'm sure we've had others, but Tyler Hero is from here, isn't he? I can't think of anybody else.
Starting point is 00:33:00 Yeah, I mean, there's a website that has all that. We could look and see. but I think Tyler here, we'll look it up. Who's up next? David is up next. David, go ahead, David. Happy March Madness, Matt. Hey, David.
Starting point is 00:33:14 How are you? Good. I'm in, I'm relaxing here. Breth and County can get ready to watch the game here. I didn't know you lived in Breth and County. I thought you lived in Lexington. No, I'm visiting. No, I live in Richmond and I'm visiting Brethet County.
Starting point is 00:33:31 Okay, gotcha, got you. And my aunt says hello. Hello, Aunt. Aunt Susie. All right. Go ahead. Go ahead. What do you got, David?
Starting point is 00:33:53 I got to go real quick. Go ahead. Okay. I just want to say I remember the good old days in March of Madness when we had to watch the games at school. Do you remember those? Yeah, those are great. They'd wheel the television.
Starting point is 00:34:09 in you know and uh uh i hope you enjoy the games there in breath of county david nice to hear from you yeah it's good to hear from you i remember we watched the kutucky holy cross game in 2001 when it was closer than we expected i yeah that was very good to say this and i'm going to say this i think i picked us to go to the ely at least that's my right i i don't go head real quick but you know what part of me thinks that we can't make a run to the final four i like that confidence i appreciate the call the uh you know i'd love to see us uh make a run i just want us to beat troy and then i kind of like the matchups with illinois zavier like we said i wish we didn't have tennessee sitting there so i'm going to be pulling hard for utah state or ucla shannon in the
Starting point is 00:35:04 next round tennessee's got to get past wafford first you mean they've got to take it one game at a time just like everybody else. We assume that Tennessee's going to be there. But Woffers not very good. They were like the FN. It doesn't matter, though. None of that matters now. March.
Starting point is 00:35:16 I have the answer about Wisconsin. Okay. Tyler Hero. And then I didn't even know we had a famous actor on the team, but in 1950, Reed Morgan from Milwaukee was a cat. He was in all he went on to be in Gunsmoke, the Twilight Zone. There's a huge filmography on his page. So we had a guy named Reed Morgan who was in Gunn Smoke and the Twilight.
Starting point is 00:35:36 Huh. I never heard of that person. I hadn't either. How long did he play at Kentucky? Two years, 1950 through 1952. And then he went to Hollywood. Yep.
Starting point is 00:35:45 There are a lot of westerns. So we've only had two players from Wisconsin. Also, while seeing this list, because alphabetically Wisconsin's near Washington, Mark Pope is our only player from Washington. Interesting. I would have thought we'd have more. See? So there's a lot of fun hometown facts.
Starting point is 00:35:58 You learn a lot of facts here on KSR. Who's next? Bill is up next. Bill, go ahead, Bill. Hey, you got to hang on one second. I can't hang on. sir. I mean, this is where I can hear you.
Starting point is 00:36:12 Quick question about, quick comment about Delilah. So what's amazing is I think she's been married like eight times, yet she's been for 30 years giving people advice on relationships. There's no way she's been married eight times. You're going to have to look her up. I mean, if that's true, then it's even more ridiculous that she does that show. I believe that's true, and it's one of the most unbelievable statements if it's true, and I'm pretty sure I'm right.
Starting point is 00:36:38 All right. So you'll look it up. Four times. Drew says he's married. I've been able to. Divorce three. Shout out. Shout out to Doge.
Starting point is 00:36:44 Keep up the good work. Shout out. We'll all be unemployed. Four marriages, three divorces, 15 children, 11 of those were adopted. Okay, so 11 adopted. Four marriages, though.
Starting point is 00:36:56 I'm kind of with him. Yeah. You shouldn't be given marital advice. I mean, except for Ryan, you shouldn't be giving marital advice with four. I feel like I should be giving her marriage advice. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:10 Marital advice. advice. The other way, she's really good at it. She's done it four times. Yeah, but she's divorced three times. I would give the advice of stay away. Yeah. She does talk with such confidence, though, for a person.
Starting point is 00:37:20 That's the thing. It doesn't even matter what you say. As long as you speak with confidence. Oh, I learned that a long time ago. I'm not going to say who it is, but I know a person that is on television all the time talking about politics. And it's not who you think. It's not Scott Jennings. I have Scott Jennings complaints, but Scott's fine.
Starting point is 00:37:36 I have complaints about him, but he's a relatively smart guy. I know a person that's on television all the time talking about politics, who is an idiot. And I don't mean an idiot. I mean like not an idiot for, like an idiot for life. Like literally you would have, like you. And they're on there. And people will say, well, did you hear so-and-so said it? And I'm like, how?
Starting point is 00:37:58 But it just goes to show nobody knows anything. Just remember, I got given an NFL show. And I didn't even watch it. Just say it with confidence. Just say it with confidence. That's all you have. have to do. Not one person on this set is even good at sports. But we can talk it. Well, you guys look offended. Ryan was good at one point. Mario was good at one point. I was going to
Starting point is 00:38:22 get a scholarship. Shana played baseball. Okay, I wasn't good at sports. I've got a hole in one. So do I have two, but it's not, it doesn't mean we should be talking about this. Hey, it's time to score big at Don Franklin. Choose from thousands of new and certified pre-owned vehicles. Bryce Hopkins is entering the portal. Doors open.
Starting point is 00:43:42 When I come back to the UK, big fellow, we're glad to take you. There's some rumors online might be going to St. John's. What, Cal would explode. I mean, wouldn't Calvary just absolutely explode at Bryce Hopkins? We're going to St. John's, play for Rick. And Rick would make it work there. And then he would be really good. Like, wouldn't that just, that would drive him to an idiot.
Starting point is 00:44:04 That would be on him, though. I remember Bryce having a great game. said I got to start playing this guy more and I think his minutes actually went down from that moment. I would welcome him back. I don't think it'd be a realistic option, but I think he'd make a great four, but it sounds like he's staying in the Big East. He was my favorite player just a couple of seasons ago. And, you know, he had that really good game against LSU. That's the one memory that I have of him like having a stage one Cal said it's Bryce Hopkins. Yeah, he said it's Bryce Hopkins said he didn't play him again the rest of the year. Oscar Sheeboe had 36 points and 27
Starting point is 00:44:32 rebounds yesterday for for Utah's G-League team. 36 and 27. I know it's a G-League, but with numbers like that, you think you can find it some spot for him. Like you brought up in the car yesterday, he plays for Utah. He's with the Utah Jazz. They're not good.
Starting point is 00:44:48 Why wouldn't you find a spot for him to come up and help you a little bit? 36 and 27 is an absurd number. And it's his third game with 25 or more rebounds. To do that against professionals, I know it's the G-League, but these are people that are paid money. That is their job. and you're still getting 25 rebounds.
Starting point is 00:45:04 That is nuts. I think that same game, one of the games you were talking about, he had like 19 or 20 points along with 25 rebounds. So it's not the first time he's done something like that this year. Even the few times he's been called up for the jazz, he's had like 10 or more rebounds every single game. Scoring hadn't been the same, but it is unbelievable how he's still doing that.
Starting point is 00:45:19 Kenny Brooks named AP National, or excuse me, sporting news, national coach of the year in women's basketball. For the people who don't know, there's like seven major awards, and then when you hear unanimous, it's because you got all seven. So he gets one of at least one of the seven. The other six haven't been picked yet. Huge honor for Kenny. Great honor.
Starting point is 00:45:38 The dude just came in totally, you know, he did what Pope did. Had to get a roster from scratch, start from scratch, and to turn Kentucky into what they were last year to now where they were like what, top four in the SEC was fantastic. Yeah, you're right, put the team together. Only had two returning players from last season. Went 12 and 20 last year, now 22 wins.
Starting point is 00:45:59 It's a great turnaround for Kenny. And he's already recruiting well for the future. Yeah. I think there's something brewing big time over there. I think one of those girls he's got is from up here somewhere. Like Minnesota maybe. I think Madden Greenway is from around here. Greenway.
Starting point is 00:46:12 So they're going to be great. Congrats to Kenny Brooks. He deserves it. Now, Rick, I want you to play something for us here. You know, a few years back for the NCAA tournament, we played Mike Francesca, the New York host, previewing the NCAA tournament. He was previewing, I think, Maryland. And he said, you know, they've won some games, they've lost some games.
Starting point is 00:46:30 They've lost some games. They've had some ups and they've had some ups and they down. He knew nothing about it. We had a great bit, I guess, a couple days ago where he was talking about the NCAA tournament. And he was teaching his listeners how to watch the NCAA tournament. And I love this because, well, I mean, he's basically telling them how to operate a television, which is pretty awesome. Let's play it really quick, Rick. You have the ability on your system, whatever your system is.
Starting point is 00:46:59 Now, let's say I'll use DirecTV here. which we have here. You have two. You got a game on 246, a game on 245, and a game on 247. You go to the game you want. That game is always playing
Starting point is 00:47:11 all the time on that channel. So you go to that channel. But this is a whole different deal now. Plus, they don't have to switch games anymore. They don't even doing it. They just basically let the game run on that individual channel. And you've got to check your own system.
Starting point is 00:47:26 If you have whatever system you have, you'll find, you might. I needed to find with true. was i didn't even know where true tv was it was 246 i needed to find that i mean i knew where tbs was i knew what tn t was i got to find tbs which was i mean uh true tv which is 246 so it's 246 245 247 on direct tv there you go isn't that some great information yeah they they play the game they just play the game and then you can watch the game and when there are multiple games on you can turn from game to game how long has it been since they've actually rotated games on the
Starting point is 00:47:58 same channel 20 years Also, YouTube TV Multiview is going to blow his mind once he finds out about that. How many times do you say 246? He said 246. He said 246. He said 246, 245. Just like at the beginning, he goes, they play the game all the way on one channel. Yeah, you think, you think they do that?
Starting point is 00:48:18 That's interesting. Amazing insight that he gave us how we could turn to channel 245. There's also a game on 246. That dude is one of the biggest radio hosts in the history. Again, back to my point about these people don't know anything. That dude is like one of the biggest sports radio hosts ever in New York City, and he's on there telling you how a television works. And he's not even saying the station's name.
Starting point is 00:48:41 He's just 246, 245, 245. You're going to check your device. He's up next, Rick. We got Adam up next. Adam, go ahead, Adam. How do you guys? How y'all doing? My question, with all the major coach it moves going,
Starting point is 00:48:58 You got West Virginia, Coach left Indiana, Fran. He's out at Iowa. It's reported Will Wade. They go to NC State, unless it's already happened. Is our coaching staff safe? Of course, Scott Do it. He's a big thing. I know Coach's folks safe.
Starting point is 00:49:11 I mean, I could see the Brooks. I could see Alvin Brooks getting hired somewhere, potentially. I appreciate the call. I could see him getting like a mid-major job. And if it happens, it happens. I hope selfishly it doesn't. But, Drew, I think it's certainly a possibility. It's slipping in my mind, but he's already been named in a search.
Starting point is 00:49:28 back in Texas somewhere. It wasn't a big school. I can't think of what it was. And it was just, it was a list of like five names, but his names already been floating around for a job after one season here. The hard thing is for a lot of those schools is that now the assistant jobs at places like UK pay more than those schools can pay. Right. So that's why a lot of them end up not leaving, Ryan, is they'll make more money here. I will say this. Coach Pope has got a massive staff. There's like 20 guys that sit over there. I don't know even what they all do, but they, you know, Feeker, Cody Feger, and Josh Hart and all these guys all got their jobs to do, but they say, seem to blend and mix very, very well.
Starting point is 00:50:00 How about Will Wade, Shannon, was asked before the McNeese State game, have you talked to to NC State? And he said, yes. Yeah. He said, yes, I have. My players know it. They've talked to people, too. We're all on the same page.
Starting point is 00:50:14 It's a refreshing bit of honesty, isn't it? I like it. I mean, usually coaches give you the coach speak. You know, I'm just focused on the game and let's talk about the game. But he said openly, yeah, I've already talked to. He took the job. And now, I mean, that's. That's awkward.
Starting point is 00:50:28 It's not official he's took the job, but people are reporting. But is that not awkward going into your first game of the tournament? I don't think it's awkward if everyone knows. Like, if he leaves, all the players are going to leave too. Probably they're going to leave anyway, even if he stayed just because they're going to move up. So, I mean, I guess if everyone's honest about it, I guess it's like an open marriage. You wonder how those things work, but I guess if everyone's honest about it, then, I mean, I guess if everybody's going to leave and they're honest, they're like, let's have one more ride for the, for history.
Starting point is 00:50:56 Like that caller earlier that asked about. That's what I thought there is about to walk into one of those situations. We all know it's happening. Like, does anyone believe West Virginia's coach didn't talk to Indiana for a long time before making that switch? He didn't just miss the tournament, then wake up and have his first conversation. Yeah, I mean, we can go back to Cal. We learned Cal talked to Ohio State in February.
Starting point is 00:51:14 I mean, they're constantly having these conversations about what their next move could be. I forgot about that. He did say he talked to him in February. Yeah, I mean, I thought it was actually, I don't even like Will Wade, but I thought it was refreshing honesty, honestly. Well, they always, you know, try to act like, you know, they have no idea what going on and then a day later they get hired his coach. Come on, we ain't that stupid.
Starting point is 00:51:31 Who's up next? Daniel is next. Daniel, go ahead, Daniel. This is picking pop. First time, long time. Who are? What's up? Hey, thank you all so much for everything you all do for UK basketball. I remember back in the 80s and 90s when, you know, we didn't have KSR.
Starting point is 00:51:56 It wasn't anything like it. And all the thing we had was, of course, it was great. We had Cawood-Leaford and Ralph Hector, man, they was amazing. But KSR has done so many good things for UK fan base. And even during times. 30 seconds, though. They're about to cut me off the show real quick, 30 seconds. Okay, during times like this, you all bring the fan base together so good,
Starting point is 00:52:18 and I'm so thankful for you all. Ryan, you're so crazy. We love you. Go catch, baby. Appreciate to call. All right, thank you very much. I appreciate. Those are very nice things.
