text machine is 772 774 754 the cats play at noon against liberty in the women's game a lot
of folks listening are on their way to that game right now. They play at 7 o'clock in the men's game.
We got all the tournament games at KS. Barr. As a matter of fact, the doors just open.
So come on in. They had a great crowd there yesterday. Packed House, even Louisville fans who drove up
for the game and then just watched the game at the bar. I consider going to the arena.
But packed house, and I expect we'll have a lot of folks there today. And then the watch party is
tonight. People write me asking what time you should get there. I would say early. I would say, because I
think it'll probably be a pretty big crowd there on a Friday night for the UK game, right?
I think you'd want to get there maybe about this time. Get there now.
Don't encourage people just to sit there all. I mean, they can, but like, you know, they got
to keep spending money. Servers have their office.
They've got to make their money. And you always just encourage people to set up a camp out there.
And that's not, that doesn't always work.
You can eat the whole time. Order lunch, order appetitions.
You can. I don't know if a lot of people do that. Or if you drink the whole time, we'll probably
have to send you home like we did Mario after 1.5.
margaritas. He was on one yesterday when he came in. I go, man, he is. He tries to act like he's not.
He always acts like he's not. That one, you could tell immediately. But it was a, it was a happy
Mario, just very chatty. He didn't take much of a breath. Had lots to say, that's all right. He was
excited. He was a big game. He's a relatively quiet guy when we travel. But then sometimes,
sometimes he turns life into his color commentary. In Seattle, man, we got like the most Mario
personality I'd ever seen. Yeah. Breaking down everybody.
I have a question for you, non-basketball, before we get back to basketball.
Do you know who Jesse Waters is?
I don't know Jesse Waters.
I don't know.
He's a political guy.
So he's on Fox News, and he replaced Tucker Carlson.
He talks politics.
He's kind of like a smarmy, like, sarcastic guy.
But he said something, I want to see if it applies to you.
He was talking about men.
He's very big on being manly, even though I think he uses a lot of product in his hair
and doesn't strike me as the most man.
He's very big on like, we need to be manly.
You need to be men, right?
Yeah.
So he was talking about being a man.
And he said there are three things that if you do, you're not a man.
You do not do these three things in public if you're a man.
Okay.
All right.
All right.
And I want to see if you agree with him.
He said, number one, you never cross your legs as Shane and I are doing right now.
You never cross your legs in public.
I'm not in public, though.
If you're a man.
No, that's ridiculous.
I think that's like a very gentlemanly way to sit with your legs crossed.
Although it feels feminine the way you're doing it right there.
Well, you feel feminine the way you're doing it.
Well, I don't claim, but I don't claim to be manly.
So do you agree it is not manly to cross your legs in public?
I guess it depends on the situation, but I think everybody probably crosses their legs at some point.
I'll cross my legs in his face.
Who says to me?
So like just my man spread and just let it all like.
I think by the very definition of that word.
A man spread.
I think he's basically, so now we all have our legs crossed.
Mario, cross your legs.
Take a picture and send it to Jesse Waters.
There you go, Jesse Waters.
Look at all these men.
No, Shannon won't do it.
I'm man spreading.
We don't need to see that.
Shannon now refuses.
His second thing is he says a man never drinks with a straw in public.
Oh, I'm out.
Well, there's Matt.
He's gone.
First of all, I drink with his straw on everything.
every day.
The worst thing that ever happened to me was the rise of paper straws.
Yeah.
It was the only reason I contemplated voting for Trump was to get rid of the paper straws.
I'm guilty of drinking with a straw.
I like straws.
I like straws too.
It's better than drinking like this.
Straw keeps your teeth.
That's right.
Yes.
It's a good like a straw.
If you drink a straw, it bypass your teeth, it's right to the gullet.
That's right.
It's stupid.
I like straws.
I'll put a straw in my cocktail if I want to use a straw.
Amen.
And then third, and this one to me was the most ridiculous.
He said you, a man.
does not eat soup in public.
Why?
I love a good soup.
I ate soup last week in public at a Chinese buffet.
I'm going to drink soup to a Chinese buffet.
Yeah.
No, the hot and sour soup.
Oh, hot sour soup is good.
It's so good.
Oh, I had two bowls in public.
Good for you.
Before the game, let's go somewhere.
I'm going to drink soup with a straw with my legs crossed.
I'll do all those.
I'm with you.
You know what I think's not manly worrying about what I'm doing with my legs and my
straw and my soup?
I agree.
And I don't need him to tell me if I'm a man or not.
I do think your name's Jesse.
Yeah, Jesse.
You probably spell it with an I.E.
I would like to see you.
I would like to see you sit a picture of your drinking soup with a straw with your legs.
I'm going to live my life whatever Jesse Waters thinks about it or not.
Okay.
Well, there you go.
So you all don't agree with his straw.
No.
No.
Of those, the one I could give up the least is the straw.
I mean, how am I going to drink this McDonald's Diet Coke every morning if I don't have the straw?
And I feel very comfortable right now.
I don't care what I look like.
This is my comfort pose right here.
I want a big bowl of soup.
That's your comfort pose.
Right now, I feel very comfortable.
Jesse.
I don't care what you think.
Jesse or Matt or anybody else.
I'm agreeing with you.
Can we get Jessica on the phone right now?
Somebody get Jessica Waters from Fox News.
I want to talk to her directly.
Who's up next?
Got Bob up next.
Bob.
Hey, guys.
How are you doing?
Doing good.
Hey, I just wanted to make a quick comment.
I drove up yesterday for the open practice from Chicago, and I brought my 7-year-old and my 5-year-old boy.
And I just wanted to give props to, like, the BBM fans.
I mean, I know how great they are, but, I mean, we had people that gave up their seats in the front row so my kids could sit there.
The crowd was awesome.
The team came over, high-five my boys at the end, just all around.
some experience. We even had a couple fans that gave us like those I heart UK posters so the kids
did bring them home and hang them in their room. So that's cool. That's it. I just want to make a comment.
So yeah, I saw the players go over there. I wasn't standing there. But was that cool that the players
came and like said hi to your kid? Yeah, it was cool. I mean, Pope, I mean, you could tell. He does
like the head nod and just tells the players to go interact with the fans. And they came over and
my boys at their hands out and everybody came over and were like
laughing them high fives and saying hi with smiles on their faces and it's just like
little things like that have such a huge impact um on little you know little kids yeah they do
you're right um our our our our fan base is just it's awesome and you know propped to everybody
listening and and you guys for doing what you do and um it's just it's cool i'm happy to be a kentucky
grad happy to be a fan got my flag flying in front of our house
today. I got the seven foot and five. Are you coming back up for the game?
Ready to go off when we went? Are you coming back up to the game today or just did the
practice? We're not. We just did the practice. We've got a 6 a.m. flight tomorrow for spring break.
So I wanted to make sure that the kids could at least come up and see the team in person while they
were close to us. But yeah, so let's get a win. Hope you guys have a great time in Milwaukee.
But I just want to give a shout out to the team and to the fans.
Okay. Well, enjoy your spring break. I appreciate the call.
And I do think I agree, you know, I talked to Tom Crean yesterday for a long time, actually.
And I have to say, I've grown to really like Tom Crean.
I mean, I do.
You're pretty sure you're a very good.
Billy may have been the person that made that happen by having him on.
But we talked for a long time yesterday.
And one of the things Tom Crean said is, he said, when I coached in Indiana, I learned something that is even probably more true at Kentucky.
At a place like Kentucky, you can't just be the coach.
you have to go touch the fans.
Like you have to go be a part of the fans.
They have to see you.
They have to touch you.
I mean, metaphorically, I think he's right.
And I don't think any coach Ryan has realized that more than both.
Cal did that, to be fair, for a number of years.
Petino did that less but a little bit.
Tubby did that some.
But I don't know that any coach has understood that.
What Tom Crean said,
the ability of fans to reach out and be a part of you like Mark Popaz.
He started that tradition like after the game, the guys make the little victory lap
and get a meet, get high-fived little kids, man.
That means a lot.
Another reason it just makes BBN special.
But you're right.
I think Cald, he understood that at the beginning.
I really do.
No, he did.
But the thing about Cal and Rick, they were almost so larger than life.
You know, Cal and Rick, the suits, the hair, handsome, both of them.
them kind of in their prime, like, they were almost like bigger.
Not, I don't mean bigger as in bigger like they were more important, but they were almost like
a little bit more than everybody else.
Mark Pope is like almost attainable, right?
Like he's got a shaved head and he, and he dresses kind of sloppy.
And like he, I think that people appreciate that.
He, he is amongst them in a way that I don't even think Cal and Rick were, you know?
Yeah, Cal was great at early.
I think part of his downfalls, he kind of hit a little bit and wasn't doing it as much.
But with Cal and Rick, I mean, to get a hold of them, you've got to call somebody to call somebody to call somebody.
They usually have a bodyguard with them.
It's almost like they're this A-list celebrity instead of just a basketball coach that, you know, as you said, they're just hard to get to.
Even though they're around and doing media appearances and talking to fans, it just felt like they were this another level of personality.
Yeah, I mean, like, you would tell, like you could, when Cal was here, and I've heard this about Rick,
too, Shannon. You could tell them, hey, this is happening, and they might send a card.
Like, I think they, Cal was a very generous person, still a very generous person, but really in,
but really in his prime, very, very generous. But, but Pope's the kind of guy who will show up at the
event. Yeah. Mark Pope is the most approachable coach that I can ever remember. I totally agree.
And I think, I think that really, you feel that in days like yesterday where they don't just do the
practice. He's up in it. Like, he's up in the stand. Having like long,
conversations with fans after the game, letting their kids come out on the floor and shoot a ball, you know, things that, I mean, no offense to Calipari.
I don't think he would have ever done that.
Yeah, and that's not necessarily even a criticism of him.
It's one of the things I envy about Ryan is like I like I like to meet people, but then like, you know, I won't like want to go home.
And Ryan will be amongst them, right?
Ryan will do the thing.
Somebody will go, hey, Ryan, will you get in the car and take me to Meyer?
And he just will.
How many times you picked up Andy?
Yeah, I mean, let me give you an example with that with Ryan.
I'm going to turn this into it from a Pope compliment to a Ryan coming.
But Andy, who calls the show, for people who don't know, Andy is blind and he can't drive himself.
We didn't know, Drew, multiple times.
Ryan has just driven Andy to and from the show, to and from, like, he needed to go get something.
And he, like, who, not many people in this world are going to do that.
I don't know if Mark Pope does that, but Mark Pope does a basketball coach equivalent of that.
And I think that's a really cool thing.
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if Andy were just in Pope's front seat one day.
I could see Pope doing that.
But it's also very evident.
I know everyone gets to see the pictures of Pope after games in Rupp Arena.
That's not a quick photo op.
he's literally one of the last people to leave the building.
Like he'll stay until the very end,
and then the security guards want to say something to him.
You know, we're up there working.
We're always there late, and there's been times where we're like,
is Mark Pope still here?
The game's been over for two hours, and the cameras are off,
and that's just Pope being.
And it's a little thing.
It's a very little thing, and we missed the picture because we didn't even see it.
But Mark and the staff called out all the media who made the trip
to come and take a picture at center court with the team and the staff.
Now, that's a little thing, but I can tell you it means a lot to those people here.
Most of the media that come right now, they don't, they're paying out of their own pocket.
Not all of them, but most of them.
And that's a really cool jester.
And it is the exact opposite of Cal who, by the end, hated the media.
Maybe Mark Pope will hate it one day.
I don't know.
But he certainly doesn't now.
And it also makes, we're human nature.
When you do something like that, it makes everybody want to be nicer to him.
Like, it's human nature.
We're going to give a little leeway one of these years when things go, you know, a little rough.
Yeah, so I think it's A very nice.
I also think, honestly, Ryan, it's kind of smart.
We needed that.
You know, like I said, we were a fractured fan base, and Pope got us all back together.
No, but we still got to win tonight.
Tubby Smith was the best at it until Mark Pope.
Pope, I think, is even better out of them.
And thank you for what you said.
made a lot to me. Appreciate it. Well, it's true. I mean, I make fun of you a lot. Like, for instance,
when we were in there watching and your belly was just hanging out of your t-shirt, and I was going to
take a picture and I went. Okay, that's too much. But you, I just said it wasn't intentional.
He just had his belly flopbing out over the picture to send everybody.
Yeah. That's nice. Why are you doing that? Stop overpaying for sunglasses and check out Shady

Street Market at 4.30 Eastern, which is 3.30 Central. Got it. So third street market hall
in Milwaukee that will be there at 430 Eastern. Eastern, that's 330.
Central here for our pregame show.
I don't know what that is, but that is where we'll be.
Their website says the best food in all Milwaukee, so that's a pretty big deal.
Ooh.
I can congratulate them when we get there.
Yeah.
Wow.
I actually think I've been to this place looking at it.
I remember it being pretty nice.
Isn't it?
Is it right across the street or like from the arena?
Well, the arena was on six.
So a few blocks away, but it's not too bad.
It's downtown.
Okay.
Third Street Market Hall.
That will be where our pregame show is today.
so if you're coming, make sure to do that.
A couple people are mad at me, Shannon, because they say that Mark Pope does not dress sloppy.
I don't mean for the games.
He dresses really well for the games.
Maybe you just see him in life he's dressed like me.
Yeah.
He wears like a hoodie and like track pants every single day.
But for the games, he's dressed very, he dresses very, very well.
But, you know, if you just see him out in life, he's like me, he's a hoodie and running.
I mean, if he's out shopping, I don't, you know, at Kroger, I don't think he has to have a suit on.
Do you expect him to wear a suit where he goes?
Cal and Rick dressed up everywhere.
I mean, Cal and Rick, until COVID.
Yeah.
Now, after COVID, Cal kind of...
He got pretty sloppy.
He got pretty sloppy.
But before that, Cal, if you saw him out, he looked...
Distinguished.
He was wearing, like, a UK pole or like a UK, you know, quarter zip or whatever.
But he was always...
His hair.
Hair is always done.
The thing about Pope is he could have a whole head of hair if he wanted to.
That's interesting.
He could grow his hair out.
You can see his hair a lot.
He's got a hair.
He's got full head of hair.
Yeah.
He just doesn't want to have it.
Which probably makes people like you mad.
Yeah.
I think he said one time he doesn't want to have a full head of hair
because then you've got to do something with you.
He's got a great hairline.
And I envy it too.
He needs to go it out.
Yeah, I don't know why you would get back.
Who's up next?
Todd is up next.
Todd, go ahead, Todd.
Hello, Matt.
I think you forgot to mention Pope also
offered a pay for people's gas
to go up to.
I mean, we talked about it the first,
first 20 minutes of the show, Todd.
Well, I wasn't listening to the first.
Okay, well, that's, so we didn't forget.
You just didn't tune in.
You forgot to listen.
Yes.
I was wanting to ask off-the-wall question here, get your opinion, and then I'll hang up
and listen.
I saw an image of Dan Hurley the other day, and back before Pope became the coach,
you know, it was, we tried to get.
get him and everything.
Do you think that if we ever had to hire another coach that we would avoid damn early?
Yes, I think that was the one time.
It was perfect timing to go after him.
I appreciate the call.
He was coming off back-to-back titles.
You know, the program was down.
I think we were kind of used to a certain way of doing things.
And I think, you know, the timing was right for them to go for him.
I think if let's say Pope or to retire or leave or would not work out, whatever, I don't think it would be the same.
I don't, you know, so I know.
I think that was the moment.
Didn't happen.
I'd be very surprised that moment ever returned.
He had just won two titles.
We like titles.
We miss winning titles.
So he was the hottest name.
But, you know, today he's going to lose to Oklahoma in the first round and that Hurley brand is going to take a big dip.
It's a big game for the SEC, by the way.
We went four and three so far in the tournament.
but our kind of teams we've used to say that we're powerful have lost.
Missouri lost to Drake.
Georgia got destroyed by Gonzaga.
I don't know what they were doing.
Yeah, that was an absolute shalacking.
I think the big games for the SEC today,
assuming nobody like us gets upset is we need Vandy to beat St. Mary's,
and we need Oklahoma and have a good showing against Yukon.
They're taking them down.
We all said that Mitch Bahrain had to make the effort to try to go get Danny Hurley.
He just had to.
for perception purposes of nothing else.
But it's probably a blessing in disguise.
That didn't work out.
Especially after this season, all the moments that he's had, you know, yelling at the
revs.
Yeah, because he would have brought that ego here.
But for our fan base, we'd be like, you haven't done anything here yet.
You know, so I don't know that that would have worked out.
I will say this.
If Pope can win against Sweet 16, he would have had a better season
than pretty much everybody else that we thought about getting.
Right?
Yeah.
So, but got to win today.
Today's a big one.
Who's next?
Little John is next.
Little John.
What?
What?
Hey, hope you all have a great time.
Go-Cath, big win tonight.
Hey, I got a suggestion.
Matt, maybe you and Ryan should get a TikTok video of doing a little Laverna and Shirley skit there in Milwaukee while you're all there.
I think the people that are on TikTok would have no idea what a Laverman Shirley skin is.
I mean, since that's 50 years old at this point.
right can i say a real quick thing um yeah we took your advice me and my best me and my best
friend josh went to the games last night since we found out we get tickets so cheap had a great
time rooting against tennessee and rooting against ucla no getting a fourth row seats under the
baskets for a fraction of a cost of a uk game would cost and we just we had a great time well good
i you know i said i did see a lot of i appreciate the call they'd pan the crowd a lot of blue in there
I think a lot of people decided to go do that game last night just as a neutral.
I think it'll be harder to get those tickets Saturday.
I think Tennessee and Auburn people will make the drive up for the game Saturday.
But I think a lot of Kentucky fans Drew took advantage of going last night.
Heck yeah.
I mean, maybe it's not the greatest match up in the field.
But if you've got the tournament in your backyard, maybe you've never been before
and tickets are that cheap, why not go check it out?
It looks like there's a lot of red there in the morning session, a lot of Louisville fans.
A lot of Louisville fans in the morning.
But Tennessee didn't bring quite as many as I was.
have thought. I bet they'll be there Saturday, though. I mean, if you're getting Tennessee,
UCLA in Lexington, if you're a Tennessee fan, you got to go to that.
Oh, of course you do. Yeah, it's not that far away. I would think that you would go if you're a Tennessee
fan. On the TikTok thing, by the way, we still got to get Ryan to do the fresh prints TikTok.
Yeah. Yeah. I think we, I think it's already kind of. Is it already, the trend's over now?
I think it's gone. You still bring it back. Ryan will bring it back with this bohawk.
Ryan, you can do it at the third street music call today. I'll do it. I might even need it.
Everybody stop me is my anxiety.
Is that the song?
Yeah.
No, I just wanted to say that.
Who's next?
Gary is next.
Gary, go ahead, Gary.
Just decided to bring.
Hey, Matt, I got two quick things.
First of all, I don't know if you guys have mentioned it yet, but we have such a height advantage.
The fact that Andrew Carr is plus 240 to score 15 points, we're putting the mortgage on that.
Yeah.
You know, we do have a huge height advantage.
They're tallest players, 6-8.
So that play of kind of getting it to Amari and let him do that little hook, I'd expect to see it a little bit tonight.
Yeah, absolutely.
And we're all in Scottsdale, Arizona, representing the BBN for a basketball party.
And we're going to go nuts today, start and catch chance, everything else.
We're going to bring the pressure to Scottsdale, Arizona.
I've been everywhere in America, pretty much.
I mean, I've now been to all 50 states.
The most consistently good-looking people are in Scottsdale, Arizona.
any other place.
That's where they keep them.
It really is.
It's, I appreciate the call.
I mean, I focused on the women's side, but even like, you'd still be like,
there's handsome dudes everywhere, too.
Like, I would not, you want to talk about playing out of your league.
Gotta be very careful going to Scottsdale Arizona.
We're Scottsdale-2s.
Yeah.
Not with the moose.
With the moose, maybe a five.
We'll take a break and be right back.
This is Kentucky Sports Radio.
Welcome back, Techies Sports Radio, 859-28027.
Text Machine, 772-7-7-7-4, 5254.
Just a little heads-up for people who may be coming up here to Milwaukee for the game.
So the afternoon session, which is Lipscomb, Iowa State, and Old Miss, North Carolina,
that starts at 1230 Central, so 1.30 Eastern.
All right, so you think about the games.
It starts at 1.30.
If it goes two hours, which probably goes over, but let's just say it goes two hours.
you're over at 3.30, which makes the next game start at 4 Eastern.
Well, we're supposed to start at 7 Eastern.
So if either of those games go even a little long,
there's a chance that Kentucky game could get a delayed start.
Yeah, right?
Because everything bad.
Because you have to have 40 minutes between games, 35 or 40 minutes,
just to do the warm-ups.
Forget about getting people in and out.
I don't even think they care about that.
They just try to get through.
So it may be the case that, like,
we're going to have a swat of people waiting,
trying to get in because
if either,
if you could see North Carolina
Ole Miss going long,
like that could be a close game
and it could end up,
you know,
so just something to watch
if you're coming here.
It does seem like
it's a pretty tight turnaround there.
Yeah,
Caroline is only,
Carolina is a favorite
that game against North Carolina.
Or against Old Miss.
Yeah.
Wow.
Let's just hope it's not like
the SEC tournament
with Kentucky and Oklahoma
getting started at 11 o'clock at night.
Let's do our draft king's picks
right here real quick.
I'll pick just,
we'll get you to pick the close
games. Mississippi State, Baylor, Mississippi State's a one and a half point favorite. Go to
Draft Kings, use my promo code. KSR, bet five, get $200. Mississippi State. Yeah, we need the
SEC to win, so I'm going to go Mississippi State. I got Baylor winning today and then beating
Duke. Oh, wow. So, go bears. Well, I'm going to take Mississippi State, but I think that's a
tough one. Colorado State playing Memphis. Colorado State's a one and a half point favorite,
but Big 12 teams seated 10th or worst are 1 and 31. And as we talked about, that
means they're always seated 10th, 11th, or 12th, because Mountain West teams don't get like a 16 seed.
So if you're seated 10, 11 or 12, they're 1 and 31. Does Colorado State break that?
This seems to be one of those picks where all the talking heads are, this is their upset pick.
But they don't know that stat.
They didn't even know that stat.
And we've already had our 12-5 upset.
We already have had a 12-5 upset.
I'm taking Memphis.
I'm also on Memphis.
All right, let's go to Vandy St. Mary's.
Are your guys going to be able to do it?
St. Mary's a four-and-a-half-point favor?
I really want Vanderbilt to win so bad, but I just don't think they will against St. Mary's.
They're a pretty good shooting team, and Fandy struggles against teams like that.
Wow, I was going to pick Vandy, but if you're not even picking them, I guess I won't.
I mean, you can pick whoever you want.
Bandy, let's go Bandy.
St. Marys.
Same Marys.
Caroline, O'Miss.
I think this could be a really, really good game.
Carolina's one and a half-point favorite.
I'm taking Carolina, actually.
No, give me Ole Miss.
Carolina's out.
They don't belong to be given.
They play too well in that first game.
They're going to throw up a clunker.
I'm taking no miss.
I'm going back in front.
but I watched Old Miss practice yesterday.
They were having a lot of fun, looked ready to go, so I'll go
Ole Miss.
Oklahoma, Yukon.
Connecticut's a five and a half point favorite.
Wow.
I would take Oklahoma with the points, but I'll take
Connecticut wins, but you give me five and a half.
I think I had Oklahoma in my bracket, so I'll stay
consistent with that.
I've already bet Oklahoma on the points, but I think they take down
Yukon.
The dynasty is dead.
Xavier, Illinois, to play us.
Illinois is a three and a half point favorite.
I'm taking Xavier.
We'd love to see Xavier, but I think Illinois,
wins. Too many Illinois people are going to be at that game, so I'm taking Illinois.
I was surprised by the crowd at Illinois's practice yesterday. They're going to have a good home
environment, so that gives Illinois the edge. For those of you that like my trivia, we're going to do it Tuesday.
Yeah. So just so you know, KSbar, Matt Jones trivia will be Tuesday. I'm actually going to be working on it.
Well, not on the drive home because that would be hard.
Yeah, I would have to. Buckle up. Put your phone down.
That's right. Who's up next. But you can talk with us. We'll help you.
Yeah, I'll get you all to help since Ryan never plays anyway because you can't get a team together. Go ahead.
Hunter is up next.
Hunter, go ahead, Hunter.
Hey, Hunter.
Hey, guys.
Hope y'all are having fun of Milwaukee.
Happy National Call on the Work Day.
Thank you.
Yeah, I just wanted to say, man, Coach Pope has done such a good job.
We've got a guy paying for our ice cream, paying for our gas.
I mean, he loves the fans so much.
And even though I'm a little worried, not too worried about tonight, but cautious.
And I just think he deserves our best when he gets his first NCAA tournament winning.
and an important day for Kentucky fans, for sure.
And I know it's not his fault that we haven't had expectations from that.
But some of the pressure lies on him, unfortunately,
and I think we'll get his first one tonight.
And I kind of like UCLA in the Sweet 16 instead of Tennessee.
Well, I'd love that.
I'd love to see UCLA beat Tennessee.
I'm going to be pulling hard for him tomorrow.
I appreciate the call.
It is not Mark's Pope's fault that we all have such expectation, but we do.
Yes.
And that's why we really, really need to win.
Now we're going to have to take an early break because of the women's game.
So let's pick the women's game real quick.
Kentucky Liberty.
Kentucky's a 15 and a half point favorite.
Do we cover?
Cover a lot.
Kentucky wins, Kentucky covers.
You told me Liberty has like all Canadians and New Zealanders.
It's all like four members of the British Monarch.
Lots of international and then someone from Burlington, Kentucky.
But I got the cats 84-61.
Malia Alexander.
Yep.
From Cooper.
That's cool.
Let's get this victory for those of you that we get knocked off.
in Lexington and Louisville, you can listen to Les on podcasts or pull up the Somerset Station.
I will be, we will be on for pregame at 4.30 Eastern for all of you.
So keep that in mind.
Let's get the women's team of victory.
And everybody watch the game.
It'll be on ESPN, Kentucky and Liberty, kicking off the women's tournament.
Go to KS Bar today, watch the game.
Go watch the women's game right now.
Who cares about work?
That's stupid.
Work is a dog.
And I know some of you, like just work.
Auburn fans trying to take over the baseball game series this weekend too.
We'll tell them to shut up as well.
We'll take a break and be right back for the final segment.

Final segment, 859-280-2287.
Getting ready, Cats and Liberty Cats and Troy.
Hopefully tonight when I do the post-game show, which will probably be somewhere downtown.
I'll probably, if we win, just roam into a place of business and say, do you mind if I sit in here and do the postgame show?
It's always a fun thing I like to do with the tournament.
I was ready to do that in Pittsburgh, and then we went and lost to Oakland, and I ended up in the Oakland team celebration, unfortunately, which was not what I intended.
Hopefully tonight it will be a better result if we win.
We pulled that off in Seattle after we beat Gonzaga.
We just found that hole in the wall place.
Next thing you know, it's full of blue in there.
Yeah.
So let's hope we make that happen tonight.
859-2-80-2287 who's up next oh by the way bill self out on the hot seat he's won the national
since COVID six years excuse me five years uh or excuse me last six tournaments he is one one of
them not made it to the second weekend any other pretty embarrassing he's not I mean he's not
on the hot seat but he but you know that's that's not a great record got to end sometime this preseason
number one. I'm going to let him blame
a couple of years of Hunter Dickinson, which is still his
fault, but it seems like
and I'm not talking about him directly, but coaches
that might have paid players before you could pay
players aren't doing as well now that everyone's able to
play. It's a very interesting point. Like when you used to pay
now you don't get to pay, you know,
he's up three with the ball
with like three and a half minutes
to go and then Hunter Dickinson makes a
terrible turnover, then they make another
turnover, then they make another turnover,
and they blow it at the end.
They looked awful. And they
had the superstars coming back. That's why they were preseason number one in a lot of
They had five guards that they paid a total of like seven million dollars.
And you're out in the first round.
Yeah, to another team that was actually kind of disappointing for most of the year, which is Arkansas.
Kansas won the who was the most disappointing.
Five-and-a-half-point favorite. Money well spent. You imagine spending all that money.
They were up three with the ball. You probably felt like, yeah, they're in good shape.
Came back from 10 down. Arkansas kind of collapsed.
Yeah, well, they went zone and Cal couldn't counter.
And then just they turned, they literally turned it over on four of the last five possessions.
And I think Hunter Dickinson turned it over three of those four.
Yeah, he was terrible.
All right, who's next?
Dalton was up next.
Dalton, go ahead, Dalton.
Hey, I got three things.
One, when is the free money podcast coming back?
Yeah, I mean, it's now fade this.
But we haven't gotten it done amongst the many things we wanted to do.
It didn't happen.
Yeah, well, all right.
second one. Do you think Mario can name more pre-cow basketball players than Ryan can name countries
in Africa? And then I've got one more thing. That's a really good question. If you said pre,
if you said pre-2000, then I would take Ryan on that. I love Mario. I don't seem to go ahead.
One more. All right. Me and my dad play this game often. Build your best.
UK basketball team with all
five players having the same last letter
of their last name.
Mine would be, Ulyss, Givens,
Jones, Towns, Davis,
with cousins and Hawkins coming off the bench.
With all five letters of what now?
My last name?
The last letter of their last name.
Yeah, like ULU.S. Joan.
Oh, the last letter. Okay. Well, yeah, I mean,
with no prep, I appreciate the call.
think S would be the last one.
I was thinking, let's do this with my last name.
We need people whose last names correspond the best UK team you could do with letters from
my last name.
This is a summer topic.
But who's the best player whose last name at Kentucky started with a J?
Terrence Jones.
That's a good one.
Derek Jasper.
I think Terrence Jones was a little better than Jay.
Delton Johnson.
Any other Johnsons?
Johnson's and Jones.
I'm so far with Terrence Jones.
thinking back at history.
I remember, I just go with Carrey Jones.
What about O.
Do we have players who...
There you go.
There's our guard.
There may not be a better one than Otega Oway.
Can you think of one?
Kalena Ozabuki.
Daniel O'Artin.
Look at this guy.
I'm taking Otega away.
I'm taking Otega.
All right, any more with an O?
Going once?
Do we want Wawa Jones over Terrence Jones?
Oh.
You know, for...
You know what?
For Harlan.
Yeah.
All right.
I'm going to go Wawa and Otega.
I feel like they would work well together in the high pick and pop.
All right.
So what about N?
Whose last name starts with N?
Oh, boy.
Oh, Codinash.
Cotton Ash.
We're not going to do better than Cotton Hes.
Right?
We're not going to do better than Cotton H.
No way.
E.
Epps.
Anthony Epps.
There you go.
Epps is pretty good.
Eish.
So, he was good.
Estil.
Estil is pretty good.
So let me a minute.
I've got Epps.
If I go out of squad here.
Eps.
I'm going to actually go back to Terrence Jones for a minute.
Because I'm going to go Epps, Nash, Oway, Terrence Jones.
I got a pretty good team.
Yes, you do.
Now I need a center that starts with S or a big.
Who starts with S?
Last name.
It's a big.
Not a big, but Shaden Sharp.
He was great at warming up.
Dude, he's coming off the bitch.
Shaden Sharp is going to be honored.
team, but I'm not letting him play.
He's going to be...
I don't have a big...
S. Well, just about an S in general.
Reed Shepard, or Jeff Shepard?
Reader Shepard?
Jeff.
Okay, so you think I have a shepherd?
You're looking at a two-seed, maybe a one-seed, depending how we complete this starting
five.
I'm liking this team, actually, to be honest with you.
We don't have any of, like, Cotton Ash is a legend.
We don't have any of our, like, considered the best of the best, but we've got a pretty
good little rotation here, don't we?
I'm really trying to think of a big.
with an S and I can't come up with it.
It's got to be last name, right?
Can't be first name.
Gotta be last name.
Michael Scott.
He was a big.
Michael Scott was from the office.
Actually, there was a guy.
There was a guy.
You're thinking of Mike Scott.
He didn't go by Michael.
Maybe his friends called him Michael.
Can we go after the hyphen and get Willie Collie Stein?
Oh.
Okay.
I'll just be Stein.
Yeah.
Willie Stein.
Willie Stein.
All right.
So yes.
There's my lineup.
That's a good squad.
Anthony Epps, Cotton Nash, OTAGA O.A, Terrence Jones, and Willie Colley Scott.
That's a line up.
Let me tell you, that's a tough team to score on.
Yes, it is.
That's a defensive, like, you're going to have a hard time getting buckets against my last name team.
Who's next?
Got Pete up next.
Pete, go ahead, Pete.
Really?
Hey, how you going on here?
Doing good.
Oh, yeah.
I've got a wee chance for you.
Oh, okay.
This is my awesome.
friend.
All right.
No.
Newt.
Go ahead.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Oil.
The wild cats growl.
Oil.
The wild cats hell.
Oil.
Go cats.
Go.
Cats.
Cats.
Oil.
I love it.
I don't think.
Like, I can't do that.
Like a ha-coo.
But I feel like you to do it.
I think it's really good.
I'd like you do it one more time, but with passion.
I want to hear some of that, that, like, national pride passion.
Because I've heard a chance.
chant like this before, but I think it needs more energy from you. So let's do it one more time.
I haven't got a very good voice. Yeah, but you can do it. I love it. You got it. Okay.
Oil, wild cats growl. Oil, the wild cat's hell. Oil, go catch, go. Cats, cats,
oil. I love it. Yes. Well done. To me, that is, that's what we needed today.
before we go into the game. Thank you very much, sir.
Okay, thank you.
I love it. Love that.
Between that and Kentucky Joe's comeback, that was a little better than Kentucky Joe's.
I think that one might be just a little bit better. Who's next?
Laura is up next.
Laura, go ahead, Laura.
Are we miss, you know who we missed?
We know he missed is a big.
Dan Spivey.
Bill Spivey.
Excuse me.
Oh, that was a wrestler with dangerous Dan Spive.
I was going to say Dan Spivey.
I'm sorry, that was a wrestler.
Dangerous Dan Spivey.
All right, excuse me.
Bill Spivey.
He was an All-American.
He was an All-American.
Go ahead, Laura.
Dan Spivey was a different guy.
Go ahead, Laura.
Waylon, mercy.
Hey, guys.
Matt, I wanted to thank you for sharing my son's
Els-down photo with Louisville.
Oh, that was your son.
All right, so if we didn't see this, Craig Greenberg.
Craig Greenberg spoke at a kindergarten in Louisville, the Louisville mayor,
and he took a picture with the kids, and in the picture,
a kid throws the L's down.
Mayor Craig Greenberg.
How did your son end up doing that?
He told me that he met the mayor and that the mayor was in charge of Louisville,
and he figured that he was probably a Louisville fan, so he needed to throw the elves down.
So you're saying it was his idea?
Oh, yeah, it was absolutely his idea.
And it was actually his birthday that day, too.
And the mayor led the class singing happy birthday to him.
They made him a junior mayor.
And then Craig made your kid a junior mayor, and he still threw the L's down.
Yes.
I love it.
Savage.
Love it.
Rockstar.
Your kid is a legend there.
Well, I appreciate.
Is he at school today?
He is.
He really wants to meet you guys.
So it might bring him to the bar.
Well, hopefully, we'll, yes, please do sometime.
Well, first of all, tell your kid, he is my KSR fan of the week.
And you guys enjoy the game.
Thank you.
Thanks.
Go Katz.
Appreciate it.
What a great story that is.
The kid yells down.
That's some good parenting right there.
Sounds like Craig's the junior mayor now.
This kid's my mayor.
I'm the mayor now.
You want to call Craig telling him he's the junior mayor now?
The pulling for Lowell did not help out too well.
I don't think he convinced anybody for that.
But you know what?
That's the way it goes.
Volunteers of America.

It's VOA-Mid.org. That's V-O-A-Mid.org. Let's take one more call before we go to break.
Who's next?
Got Jake up next.
Jake, go real quick. What do you got?
I want to know where I can hear the Kentucky baseball game this evening.
All right.
Jake, coming strong.
Because I know that, I know the NTAA.
Jake, I don't know where you can hear the Kentucky baseball game.
But I'm sure if you, I don't know.
I'm sorry.
But I wish you the best.
And it is March Madness.
So remember, you might want to also listen to the tournament.
I'll try.
All right.
My guess is 98.5.
98.5.
There you go, Jake.
Darren Hedrick, I'll have the game for you.
Thank you.
Andrew Capice today.
Appreciate the call.
Thank you very much.
Wow.
That fired us up for the tournament.
You know, you get that chant, then you get the junior mayor, and then you get
what channel is the baseball game on?
Well, the good thing about the tournament is, I've got 245.
246.
246.
246.
We play our pregame show.
We'll start there in Lexington.
4.30 Eastern.
If you're in town, 3.30 at 3rd Street Hall.
Let's get this victory.
First of all, go women, beat Liberty, go men, beat Troy.
It's NCAA tournament Friday.

Last night, a blown call changed a game.
This morning, the internet lost its mind,
and nobody's telling you exactly what happened.
That's where Sports Slice comes in.
I'm Timbo, and every episode,
we're cutting through the noise,
breaking down the biggest moments in sports
and giving you the real story
behind the headline.
And we're going straight to the source
the athletes themselves.
Their locker room stories,
their reactions in the moment
and the stuff nobody gets to hear.

Hey, what's good, y'all?
You're listening to Learn the Hardway
with your favorite therapist
and host, Kier Games.

experiences, having honest conversations that it's really not safe to have anywhere, but you're having

It signals to the world that you're not to be played with. And just because you have the
capability that does not mean that you need to, listen to learn the hard way on the AHA radio
app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. I'm Michelle McPhee, and I've been unraveling
the strangest criminal alliance I've ever reported on.
a Mormon polygamist and an Armenian businessman.
Multi-million dollar house,
Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets,
a billion-dollar fraud.
But how long can this alliance last?
Tell me what you know.
Is somebody coming after me?
