Those people are starving for banter.

This is Clivert Taylor the 4th. And on my podcast, The Clivert Show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff. Like being an internet famous referee.
Starting point is 00:01:14 We're in the middle of a game. This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me. He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Time out. Quarterback on office blue 42. A rep, my mama want you to wave at her. What?
Starting point is 00:01:31 Where's he at? Hey, Miss Parker. Listen to The Cliverts show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. I'm Joey Dardano, and on my new podcast, hope from a hypocrite I'll be changing lives, helping people in need with thoughtful solutions. Sike, I'm a comedian.
Starting point is 00:01:53 I'm not qualified to give good advice. Join me and my comedian friends as we riff, rant, recommend some of the most legally dubious advice. known to man. Consider our friends at Stockton Mortgage, but don't just take our word for it. Stockton Mortgage has over 70,000 five-star reviews and counting.
Starting point is 00:02:31 just like this review from Joshua, who says this about his experience with Stockton. They were super professional. Always answered my questions I had and streamlined the process. I could not ask for better people to help me and my family get our first house. I feel blessed to be able to go through them. Be like Joshua or the 69,999 others just like him and get started with Stockton Mortgage today by going to Stockton.com and get started. I've even used Stockton Mortgage myself on my own home loan.
Starting point is 00:03:01 your home loan needs stockton dot com and click get started stockton mortgage nmLS 8259 equal housing lender nmLS consumer access dot org welcome to hour two of kentucky sports radio presented by stockton mortgage now here's matt jones welcome back it is hour number two here kentucky sports radio live at the k s barn grill thank you very much young lady i appreciate it uh we got a good crowd in here for lunch. We have some of our staff stuck in, I guess there's bad traffic downtown, so these folks here will be patient, I'm sure. They'll get to their games. You got Montgomery Cane, what time do you all play? 1.30. Lawrence County plays. Montgomery County. To Lawrence County plays Montgomery County. Okay. And then Davis County, you all play tonight,
Starting point is 00:03:50 right? You play at six. So good luck with all that. I, during the break, just filmed, I finally ate the Wheatabix. What did you think? So first of all, it comes in these little squares, and then you break it up. I'm going to give a solid B minus to the wheat of bix. It goes up to a B plus with sugar. F minus with warm milk. Don't ever do that to me again. That was gross.
Starting point is 00:04:20 I think with cold milk, that would have been fine. Warm milk, that almost made me throw up. Warm milk is, how do, don't you, don't you, Do you give babies warm milk? Yeah. You do? Yeah. No wonder babies cry.
Starting point is 00:04:35 That's awful. Like, I don't think I've had warm milk in 30, 40 years, and I won't ever again. But the cold milk, it would have been fine, I think. If I had a little warm milk, sometimes cooking, use warm milk, or if I make a nice latte at home, I steam the milk. I don't just sit and drink a tall glass of it, but I've had it before. Yeah, that was pretty awful. But the wheat of bix is fine. It tastes like shredded wheat.
Starting point is 00:04:59 I know UK went around a lot of their staff members, and they tried it yesterday. It was about 50-50. Some hated it, some liked it. Well, let me say, it is amazing to me. I have gotten dozens, maybe even 100 pictures of people eating weed a bix. This is such an unbelievable UK phenomenon, Drew. And like I said on the show, I think on Monday, I love it because it's distinctly us. like it's a distinctly, we are a crazy Kentucky fan base thing to do.
Starting point is 00:05:33 And shame on them for it's now been eight days since they've tweeted. Nothing, no contact with Amari Williams. They have absolutely dropped the ball on capitalizing it. They have screwed that out. How have you not tweeted since March 19th? They told Tyler Thompson they're aware of it, and they haven't done anything. That's on them. I mean, that is a total.
Starting point is 00:05:51 When does ever, ever does Wheatibix get talked about the way it is right now? It should have. Okay, we need to go over three qubits. non-NCA points that I need to make fun of. Let's start with Tiger Woods. I'm not making fun of this, but Tiger Woods says he's found the love of his life. It is Donald Trump Jr.'s ex-wife.
Starting point is 00:06:13 There's two things I want to make a fun about about this. First of all, have you seen Donald Trump Jr.'s ex-wife's dating history? Oh, yeah. Has anybody seen this? this is one of if you are going to retire most amazing dating history to ever exist
Starting point is 00:06:31 I think this woman would win it she grew up rich I don't know who she was somebody wealthy's daughter when she was 18 I guess as a way to rebel against her dad she started dating one of the leaders of the gang the Latin kings
Starting point is 00:06:47 oh my and there are pictures of her with this dude who is the leader of the Latin king then they broke up she went from him to Leonardo DiCaprio pretty big jump okay that's a big difference leader of the Latin kings Leonardo DiCaprio then she goes from Leonardo decaprio to a Saudi prince and a Saudi prince who has been associated as maybe cheering on 9-11 oh okay then she went from that to Donald Trump Jr and married him And now she's with Tiger Woods.
Starting point is 00:07:26 Tiger Woods, the president's kid, a Saudi prince, the leader of the Latin Kings, and Leonardo DiCaprio. Is that the craziest dating history of any human being, Drew, in the history of the planet? It has to be. Just the wide range from the Latin Kings gang member to a Hollywood actor. Now you've got the best golfer of all time. She needs to be hosting a show like Delilah. giving relationship advice. I mean, you know, there are people who say, what's your type?
Starting point is 00:07:57 And sometimes will people say, I don't have a type? That woman does not have a type. That is a person that I think can definitively say, I don't have a type. I'll go for anyone. That's a movie. And it's a movie I would probably go see if they ever made it like that. Now, the Tiger Woods posting announcing the dating is funny to me. He's laying on a hammock.
Starting point is 00:08:19 They're cuddled up, and he says, I just want to say, publicly, we are together and I'm in love, and then he said, please keep this private. Which I find really funny. You make a public announcement to keep your dating life private. Wouldn't the way to do that, Drew, just to be
Starting point is 00:08:36 to keep it private? Yeah, that came out during the UK Illinois game. Distracted me for a few minutes because he used all of his social media channels with millions of followers to say, leave us alone, we need privacy. And that means only in an American thing, we could have
Starting point is 00:08:52 Tiger Woods being the stepdad to Donald Trump's grandkids. America's very strange. What about his dating history? He's got a pretty good dating history, too. Not as wild as hers, though. Jim Nance. Jim Nance announces that he's going to retire from the Masters in 2036, which is 11 years from now.
Starting point is 00:09:16 Now, Jim Nance has never been anything but nice to me. But, Ryan, don't you think you don't need to be? to announce 11 years in advance when you're going to retire? That's Jim Nance doing Jim Nance things. It's all about Jim Nance. 11 years. So every Masters will be like his swan song for the next 11 years. Only nine more years.
Starting point is 00:09:35 Only nine more years left. Can you feel this? He says he wants to do it because that will be the 100th Masters. When I saw the social media graphics said Jim Nance announced his retirement from the Masters, I got actually upset. I was like, what? I mean, that's such a huge part of it. I'm wearing a master's hat right now.
Starting point is 00:09:52 I love Jim Nance on the Masters. Then I read the caption that said 2036. That has to be the earliest retirement announcement ever. A long year retirement tour is a little much, I have to say. Then finally, in the most ridiculous thing that I've seen in sports in a long time. You remember Stephen A. Smith and LeBron James kind of had that confrontation? Yes. LeBron James, I guess, went on Pat McAfee, and he kind of like gave Stephen A a hard time.
Starting point is 00:10:21 and was like, whatever. I mean, I don't even know what he said. But then Stephen A said one of the dumbest things I've ever heard, which is Stephen A said, if he had touched me, I would have swung at him. Come on. Come on. Dude, stop it. First of all, LeBron would have beat him to death.
Starting point is 00:10:46 Like, LeBron is 6'9 and built of stone. Secondly, if Stephen A were to hit a player, he would be going to prison. Yes. Right? Like, you can't just at a game, just hit a player in the game. Can you imagine if someone's sitting on the front row just punched a player? They're going to prison, right? And does Stephen A, like, I have to be careful because we work at the same company.
Starting point is 00:11:15 But what unbelievable arrogance to think. think that you would do anything. You would just shut up and get punched by LeBron. That was one of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen. I was surprised. I agree that's ridiculous. I don't believe he would have done it either. That's just Stephen A.
Starting point is 00:11:31 Yapping, but LeBron's been very vocal about Stephen A in the last 24 hours. He went on McAfee, and I've never really heard an athlete of LeBron's level talking about reporters, specifically Stephen A and a little bit of wind horse like he was. So the beef, even though LeBron is winning it, it's kind of surprised. Well, initially, I was on Stephen A's side. because I was like, LeBron, if you bring your kid into the league, you can't expect people not to talk about him. But now that Stephen A is talking about punching him, I'm back on LeBron's side. I mean, what, Stephen A, slow down.
Starting point is 00:12:04 See LeBron post the video of Stephen A boxing? Yeah, he boxed like he was like, you'd be dead if you punch LeBron in that time. That's just another example of somebody who thinks they're bigger than the, everything else. He thinks he's bigger than the sport. Yes. LeBron, he thinks he's as big as LeBron. That's right, he does. And that's so ridiculous to me.
Starting point is 00:12:28 LeBron wouldn't even have hit him back. Stephen A. would have been mobbed by security and who got those two else. Police, he would have gone to prison. You can't hit players in games. And LeBron wouldn't have felt it. Yeah. Who's up next? Ted.
Starting point is 00:12:40 Ted. Go ahead, Ted. Hey, I got a quick, quick thing, man. I knew selling the red tickets. But first off, on that Tiger story, it sounds like he's putting a driver in the bag. He's got to be careful here. The weed abyss, I think you guys are looking out. First of all, that should tell
Starting point is 00:12:57 you what you're, no, I got it. It's just I was rolling my eyes. And the fact that he laughed should tell you exactly how that joke is. But go ahead. Hey, Matt, so the guys are looking out for you with the weedibics. You know, warm milk is a thing in Europe. When I was in Italy, it's called Latte
Starting point is 00:13:13 and Terno. They sell warm milk off the shelves like we sell the refrigerator milk. So I think they're just getting you prep for your trip. Yeah, well, I appreciate the call. Here's my quick point. I'm a bearer-season ticket holder. I sold my, the last time the Bears were in the playoffs, we played the Eagles.
Starting point is 00:13:32 That was the double-doin game. Yeah, remember that. I sold those tickets, Matt. I sold those tickets and made it killing, so I totally get where you're coming from. Now, my question is, the Reds make the playoffs. No, I would go to that. Yeah, I would go to that. Are you going to sell that?
Starting point is 00:13:47 I would go to that. No, I mean, I appreciate the conference. call what's the point of going to all these games if not go to a game seven of the playoffs i just consider opening day you know it's more of uh it's so i don't mind selling my tickets for opening day because it's more of a party than it is a game i mean Cincinnati opening day is a whole thing and so if i if i'm going to go anyway and i can sell them for seven you know seven hundred fifty dollars six or whatever that's fine with me and you usually have a crew bigger than your your two seats you get to sit with your buddies and exactly by the way for the people writing me about
Starting point is 00:14:17 How could you miss the final four? You always get on people about scheduling weddings. I didn't schedule this. It's this fellowship I got. I have to go unless you sign up and say you have to go, and I would have to give it up if I'm not there. And, you know, it's been an honor, so I need to keep going. And if you were here, you would go.
Starting point is 00:14:37 It's not like you would not go up to the Final Four in San Antonio. You would go if you were in the United States. You're just going to be a long way away. It is going to be a long way away. Who's next? Blank. Blake, go ahead, Blake. Hey, Matt, first time long time.
Starting point is 00:14:52 Who are? What's up? Hey, I just have two things. The first thing is this might be a reverse KSR curse, but last summer, I believe you talked a couple times about being nervous about missing our first World Series birth. Is that correct? Yes, and I miss that as well, yeah. So I'm hoping, I don't mean to pray on your downfall,
Starting point is 00:15:13 but I hope we make it to that final four while you're on the plane. And then my second thing for Drew, Drew, I just need a little pep talk on why you're so confident against Tennessee. I've been nervous all week, and I just like to hear his thoughts. Thanks. Good question. Drew, why are you so confident about us beating Tennessee? Well, I shared this stat yesterday, but Vegas has made Kentucky the underdog five times in the last three seasons.
Starting point is 00:15:34 And they not only covered, they won all five outright and covered the spread by combined 75 points. Against Tennessee. Against Tennessee. Yeah, now two of those years, completely different era. But Mark Pope this year, what were they, 10.5 point underdog, nine and a half in Knoxville this year? Come back, you win in Rup by 11. As good as Tennessee is, and they look good against UCLA, I just think these high-scoring teams are a bad matchup,
Starting point is 00:15:56 because on their best day, they're still just getting in the 70s. And their defense is good, but the way Kentucky's been playing lately, I think some of the analytics even have Kentucky as the better defense in the last couple weeks, whatever it is. So I just don't think Tennessee is capable of scoring the points Kentucky scores unless Kentucky just goes absolutely cold. From February 11th, but I feel good. From February 11th to now, we have the ninth best deal.
Starting point is 00:16:18 defense in the country, which is unbelievable. And our defense is rated ahead of Tennessee since then. That's an unbelievable stat. And I did not see that coming, and you got to give Pope and his guys credit. If you would like beef, Noche Linda Farms for your pre-order quarter, half, and whole beef boxes. Starting point is 00:19:53 I'm taking you behind the scenes on how I became one of Twitch's most popular streamers. We also love sports. And with the World Cup right around the corner, we'll be breaking down the biggest storylines ahead of the big tournament here in the USA. Listen to the 1021 podcast on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome back, Techie Sports Radio. So, Shannon, you're saying the new Tiger's new girlfriend, this is her type. Is that what you're saying?
Starting point is 00:20:30 Yeah, this is her theme song. They wrote this song about her. That is the one common thing all those guys have together is they do have a lot of money, I assume. The Saudi and Tiger, Trump, Leo, the Latin King. They probably all have, they probably all have money, true. That's probably. Yeah, but she does have a type. It's definitely the cash.
Starting point is 00:20:48 The cash would be, yeah. Did you see, Ryan, Duke is mad at the, White Lotus. Are they? Duke is very mad. So in that scene, that scene where the guy, I don't want to do a spoiler alert,
Starting point is 00:21:04 but there's a guy in the show who's a Duke fan, he wears Duke gear. And there's a moment where he acts like he's going to do something bad, and he's wearing a Duke shirt. And Duke is very angry because people think when Duke loses in the tournament, that's going to be a meme. And they're saying that they did not get permission. The Duke characters kind of,
Starting point is 00:21:24 of a bad guy in the show, and they did not get permission to portray Duke in a bad light. And Duke is mad. Duke, like, Duke released a statement about it yesterday. Well, it's definitely going to be a meme. There's no doubt about it. It may be a meme this weekend if they get beat. And the good, like, the nicer characters went to North Carolina, and the worst characters went to Duke, and Duke's not happening.
Starting point is 00:21:49 Usually we get excited about seeing our teams in a show. I watched Paradise where the president loves Kentucky. It's cool seeing that in all the scenes. Even when White Lotus started and they had the tobacco road thing, I got jealous like, oh, why do they get to be the college basketball team here? Nope, it's made a little turn as the season's gone on. It's worked out.
Starting point is 00:22:05 By the way, legally, like Duke was trying to act like they'd sue. They can't. They'll lose that lawsuit. Yeah, what are you going to sue? Well, because they're saying they're using their trademark, but it's parity. So they're going to be able, like, Duke's not going to be able to do anything about it. It's a T-shirt on a fictitious show.
Starting point is 00:22:22 Oh, what? Do I need to dump that? Fictitional show. Fictitional? Fictional? Okay, let's keep trying. Let's see if you can get the word. Fictional.
Starting point is 00:22:33 Yeah, there you go. First you said, I believe, a curse word. Should I dump that or are we good? Well, it's too late now. He didn't mean to say it. I don't think it matters what your intent is. Yeah. You've got pronunciation is not your strongest suit.
Starting point is 00:22:50 It's called Velpenese. My dad has it, and he's passed it down. to me. It's called what? Velpenese. You're from Velpen, Indiana. That's his way to be how many towns do you claim to be from? Like you, you, I thought you were from Ottwell. This is the person. I've never heard the word Velpen ever before. Velpin, all population like 200. It's big town in Indiana. All right, so sweet 16, Brett that's playing North Laurel here. Huge upsets yesterday. Sanex is out. They were the favorite, had not lost a game in the state of Kentucky
Starting point is 00:23:21 all year. So they're out. Bowling Green won, Jefferson Town, and then last night, Ashland, and the kids, South Oldham beat Danville Christian. The billies. So it's kind of wide open now, isn't it? It's open. And bottom of the bracket, great crossing in Cooper, two of the other. Maybe the second best team and third best team. They will have to play if they both win, they would play in the next round together.
Starting point is 00:23:44 So Malachi Moreno, for people who want to see the future cat, he plays at what time? Six and they play against Davis County, right? So you're going to get to see him. You've got to give us a scouting report tomorrow on how good he is, but they play at 6 o'clock tonight. After watching the thrilling first game yesterday, I came to KS. Bar to watch St. X and hang out here for a little bit, and I had someone fact-check Ryan on the Danville Christian kids. Okay, so you're saying Ryan's story about how they weren't allowed to play soccer and they cry every night. You're saying that might not be true?
Starting point is 00:24:13 Well, the guy has a connection to the kids and Danville Christian. He was thinking, we don't even have soccer for them to play if they wanted to play, so no one's holding soccer from them. He even called around to make sure that they're not missing out on any soccer. So where did you get this soccer story? When they were growing up in Africa, they were soccer players, and they wanted to play soccer, but they grew to be 6-6-6-7 when they were young,
Starting point is 00:24:36 so they made them kind of switch to basketball. Who is they? The people in Africa, I don't know their name. But what do you mean? The people in Africa, are you talking about their parents? Probably. You know, it's a good way for them to get out of Africa. if you're seven-footer to be a basketball star.
Starting point is 00:24:52 Not a soccer player. Okay. And so again, I want to go back to who told you this story. I'd have my sources. I have my Africa sources. Well, the Danville Christian sources would happily let them play soccer. They just don't have any soccer or anything for them to do. That's why they came to America to play basketball. They wished they'd be able to play soccer. So you're saying, though, if we wanted to play soccer with them,
Starting point is 00:25:12 no one would stop us. Sure. I think Danville Christian was politely saying, keep our name out of your mouth and hold them back from soccer. Yeah, I think they weren't happy that you were implying that at Danville Christian, they don't let you play the sports you want to play. They don't even have a soccer ball there, he said. I'm telling you, in Africa, they wanted to play soccer. They did play soccer, yes.
Starting point is 00:25:32 I've seen it. Yes. Okay. We need to get you stop talking before you say something. Who's up next? Curtis. Curtis. Curtis.
Starting point is 00:25:43 Hi, guys. I was at the games this past weekend, and I'm going to the games this weekend. I was like to say I had a good time last week, and hopefully we keep on winning. Well, I do too. I hope you will come by tomorrow at 5 at 10 Roof for the pregame show and introduce yourself, and I hope you have a blast in Indy. Okay, thanks, guys. Appreciate the call.
Starting point is 00:26:16 How would you, if you were given, you know, you have Indianapolis knowledge, give people a little bit of like, where would you eat? What would you do if you're going to Indy? I have no idea where to eat downtown Indy. The only time we've ever been up there, we assume that we do everything at Ten Roof. I've eaten at Ten Roof many times. That's supposed to the Pacers Arena. I'll never forget walking into Ten Roof Indy. I didn't even know Ryan was in Indy.
Starting point is 00:26:36 I was one of the Pacers game, and he has so much ranch on his body. I don't mean it, like, fell out of the back end of a burrito and dripped. If you just took a troth of ranch and dumped. something on him. He couldn't have had more ranch on him. So I know that's where Ryan likes to eat and get a little messy there. St. Elmo's is the place, but reservations have been gone. You're never going to get in there. Harry and Izzy's next door. You can try to walk in.
Starting point is 00:26:58 Tomorrow night, if you're in Lexington, obviously we're going to have the game here at KS Bar. I can just say, come on. Hopefully you get a table. If you don't, you can stand up. The environment was great here the other night. And if you go back to my two favorite videos ever from this bar, the first one was when we beat Florida and you went up on the bar. That was like a week after we opened. But the second one was when we beat Houston in the Sweet 16.
Starting point is 00:27:25 We have a great video shot of this place exploding when Tyler Hero hit that three. Hopefully we can recreate that magic on Friday night. Yeah, apparently there was a great environment here for the games up in Milwaukee. Even here it was really rocking. Of course, Lenny Bluebeard is here kind of leading. the charge of all that. So come on. Watch the game here.
Starting point is 00:27:45 You're exactly right. 859-280-2287. When we come back, I want to talk a little bit about the portal. Names continue to come into the portal. I'm going to give an explanation for fans of how I think you should follow the portal. All right. Because the names continue to fly. It's hard to know who cares.
Starting point is 00:28:04 Kentucky calls some of them and not others. We'll talk about that. And I've been told, Drew, we have. as good a financial situation going into the portal as they could possibly hope for. Got money left over that didn't even get used last year. Got the club blue people, donors, and then, of course, the rev sharing that, like, Kentucky basketball's in a great spot going in the portal this year. It doesn't surprise me.
Starting point is 00:28:29 I saw some donors sitting behind the bench in Milwaukee, and they were very thrilled to beat Illinois, so I don't think Pope's going to have any trouble getting all the support. That's one of the things when we talk about Cal, one of the things to remember is he wasn't, going to have any money for the portal. The donors had stopped giving money. So even if he had stayed, I don't know if he could have gotten guys to come from the portal. That's a big deal. We'll take a break and be right back.
Starting point is 00:28:52 It's KSR. T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J. He'll make them pay. Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio here at the KS Bar and Grill. Everybody's getting their lunch. enjoy with terrible, terrible, terrible traffic in downtown Lexington, just for the record.
Starting point is 00:29:17 We had a couple of our servers get here late because of it. So just keep that in mind. They've got great planning by the Lexington City. They're doing on Broadway multiple lanes of construction during the SEC. Or, excuse me, during the Sweet 16th. Maybe it could have waited until next weekend to go down to one lane, but just keep that in mind if you're going to the game. right outside of our restaurant here on Broadway, kind of down here and cross. Oh, and the other way, yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:44 It's one lane, and it funnels in there. I got stuck in that back up yesterday. So just be careful. If you're coming to KS. Bar, there's a road called Oliver Lewis, which is a great for even you all going to the game. Oliver Lewis is a really good sneak around from the traffic. I use it every day. Oliver Lewis Parkway, you can kind of sneak around from right in front of the bar all the
Starting point is 00:30:03 way around, and you can actually get to the back end of Rupp that way. Do you know who Oliver Lewis was? I do not know who it was, actually. I believe he was the first jockey to win the car. Kentucky Derby. Is that right? Yeah. I think he was an African-American guy, and he was the first black,
Starting point is 00:30:15 with the first jockey to win the Kentucky Derby. I did not know that. You may want to fact-check me, but I think that's right. I'll fact you. There's a chance that's not who he was. I think that's right, but you know, you never know. Okay. It's true.
Starting point is 00:30:27 Nice job. 1875, Lewis won the very first Kentucky Derby. Well, now he has a great road. Zichai Ziegler, a picture's been floating around that when Tennessee was playing in their first and second round games at Rupp, you know, Tennessee got the really good locker room because Tennessee got our championship locker room because they were the top seat in that little thing.
Starting point is 00:30:50 So they got to use that locker room and there's a picture where he walks up next to our national championship thing and he flips it off. There's a picture of him doing that that's being passed around amongst UK fans and UK basketball players. You think that'll be a good motivator? You shouldn't need motivation in the Sweet 16 playing in Lue. because oil, but I would make sure if I'm Mark Pope, that's somewhere in that locker room,
Starting point is 00:31:14 just to add a little extra flare to the rivalry. I think it would add to it. You think it's fair or foul to do it? I mean, they were in there. It's their rival. I mean, put ourselves in our shoes. Let's say we played in Louisville, and we got put in Louisville's locker room. What would you do?
Starting point is 00:31:30 And they're walking out on the floor, and they pass a big picture of Ron Slay. Yeah, they pass a picture of, you know, at Louisville, the 2013 national title or something like that, what would you do? I don't think it's poor form, to be honest, but I do think it's going to be bulletin board material that Pope can use to show the guys, hey, look, this is what they think of us, disrespecting us in our own, right here in our backyard. So I think it can be used. It probably happens behind closed doors in those situations when they pop up, but you've got
Starting point is 00:31:57 to be thinking there are cameras everywhere, and this is a team that is in our bracket that we could see next weekend. Maybe you already knew he's playing Kentucky at that point. Yeah, I mean, here's what I'd like to do. I would like for Kentucky to take a similar picture from Tennessee, and then when we win, recreate the picture. I mean, they won't do that because that's not classy, but I would enjoy it to kind of give the Mario's filming,
Starting point is 00:32:22 so I won't put the middle finger up. My mom would get mad. But to give the middle finger up to Tennessee if that happened. When I first saw it, I actually thought it was Photoshopped. I did too, but I think it was real. I think it was real. Yeah, it's not on like a meme account. It's an actual photographer on their professional page.
Starting point is 00:32:38 They have no other Photoshop or meme or anything on there. I think Tennessee did it like with a pro photographer, which means it was almost, as Kerry Bruce would say, sanctioned. So there you go. Let's talk about the portal for a second. All these dudes are in the portal. We're trying to figure out who does Kentucky like. Here's, you're going to see a lot of thing about Kentucky contacted, Kentucky contacted.
Starting point is 00:33:06 to me, at least until the season is over, the best way to tell if we care is, do they set up a Zoom call? Because if they set up a Zoom call, then to me that means they're going face to face and they care. They're going to contact almost all these guys. But they're going to set up Zoom calls, especially before we lose in the tournament, they're going to set up only with a handful of guys. They've set up a Zoom call with the kid from North Dakota. Eagle staff. Eagle staff. They set up, I'm hearing they're going to set up a Zoom call maybe today with the kid from Robert Morris.
Starting point is 00:33:40 So those to me are the two guys that I think have the strongest connection because they are in the middle of tournament prep, taking a few minutes to talk to them. Who do you think are the most likely guys we've seen enter the portal that will go to Kentucky? Now, there's so many names right now, I would just be guessing, but the Eagle staff, I mean, his name has been whispered for a few weeks, even before the portal opened, is one to watch with Kentucky. he'd be great in Pope's system. One I didn't follow as closely until recently is that Magoon Guath from San Diego State, the freshman that was defensive player of the year. I could see Pope wanted
Starting point is 00:34:14 to add him for some defense. He can also step out and shoot it a little bit, and I believe they also had a Zoom call with him yesterday. And then as you said, it would be maybe him or the Robert Morris, Alvaro Foguerres, might be pronouncing that wrong. But those three of all had Zooms or at least set them up, and I
Starting point is 00:34:31 think they're guys that would really work in Pope's system. I think the The most likely person I've seen is the Robert Morris guy. I think the Robert Morris guy is a dude that they like. I also think Kentucky is very high on and maybe even the likely location for a guy that is still in the Sweet 16 right now. I think there's, and I think there's also a guy playing. There's a tournament called like the Crown or something like that. Do you know about that?
Starting point is 00:35:00 Don't know about this. There's a tournament that's going to be on Fox starting next one. week where teams from the Big 10, the Big 12, they're in it. We have a guy that I know we want that is in one of those, is in that tournament too. So some of the top contenders for Kentucky, I don't think Ryan are even going to be in the portal for another week or two. You know you'd mention Max Green, the kid, played the Holy Cross. He's still on?
Starting point is 00:35:25 I haven't heard as much about him recently. I heard about him during the season, but I haven't heard as much about him recently, so I don't know. But I do think if you're kind of taking big picture, I think Kentucky is very interested in the Eagle Staff kid, very interested in the Robert Morris kid. Everybody in the country is interested in the Dent kid at New Mexico. I think they like the kid from Sam Houston, Wilkerson, the three-point shooter. I do think they like the kid from LMU a lot, Harrison. And then I think there's a big-time person they want that's still playing in the Sweet 16, and there's a big-time.
Starting point is 00:36:02 person they want who's still playing in the crown, which is a tournament. Most people don't even know Exeas. But the point is he's still on his college team. That's my Matt Jones update. But again, this stuff can change quick. They can flip and get somebody else quick. It happened with Garrison last year. They just invited him and three days later he was a cat.
Starting point is 00:36:23 Was it Garrison that committed like on his Arkansas visit? Yeah, I mean, he, Kentucky, I think, you know, decided to contact Garrison on like a Monday. He was here on like a Wednesday, and then he committed to us while on his Arkansas visit on like a Friday. So, I mean, it went really quick. And there was a time last year I would have bet most of my money that Great Osabor was going to be in Kentucky. You just kept hearing that over and over. He was. He reopened it kind of chasing a paycheck.
Starting point is 00:36:47 Well, I think what happened is they took, Osabor kept asking for more money. And then Garrison said, I want to come. And they told him, you got to decide now. And on his Arkansas visit, he was worried he'd lose his spot. And he just committed. And Kobe Bragg got very close with Yukon. Thought we might lose that one. He was in with Duke.
Starting point is 00:37:06 I mean, once the pieces start falling guys lose spots, then I move on to a different team. It moves quickly, and it can change in any moment. But if I were putting my Matt Jones big board of most likely scenarios, I would put the Robert Morris kid, number one. I would put one of the kids that's in the crown number two, and then kind of a hodgepodge with everybody else. How many think we'll end up and we'll get even the chance for four?
Starting point is 00:37:33 I think we get four for sure, maybe five. Four or five. I think it depends on what one of our current players decides to do. But I would say four, maybe five is my most likely scenario. Who's up next? Corey. Corey, go ahead, Corey. Hey, you that first time, a long time?
Starting point is 00:37:51 Who are? Hey, I live down here in Knoxville. I can do that for you if you want. Do what? Go take a picture, giving the bird, to, No, I want one of our players to do it, but you can do it too if you want. Well, I call for Drew. Drew, when you get to Indianapolis, buddy, I need you to unpack your bags and prepare to stay the whole weekend because we're going to go to Final Four.
Starting point is 00:38:17 That's all my to do list. Didn't even unzip the suitcase before St. Peters. I'm going to use the drawers. I'm going to hang things up. I'm going to move all the way in. Let them know I'm there to stay. That's all I had to say, man. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:38:30 Appreciate the call. Thank you very much. You know, sir, you not only get your wrap, you get extra chips right there on the floor if you need them. We took a tumble. Yeah, one of our, sir, we dropped some food. But that happens. You know, that happens. That's breakage.
Starting point is 00:38:43 That happens sometimes. He was being great. He helped clean it up. And now, again, if you don't get enough chips, you have some right there on the floor next to you that you can do. The KSR bowling league is back, right? Nice. I love this. It's a lot of fun, man. There are bowlers there of all skill levels. I've got some really, really good bowlers, and then bowlers like us that we have a hard time. And I've talked to some UK people.

This linebacker walks up to me, he goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Time out. Quarterback on office blue with 42. Hey, rec, my mama want you to wave at her.

Welcome back. Final segment, Kentucky Sports Radio, here at the KS Bar and Grill. Great crowd here for lunch as you get ready for the big games today. If you're in town for Sweet 16, come see us before or after. Good luck to the teams whose fans are already here. Good luck to Davis County, Moco, Lawrence County. I'd say good luck to Calloway County, but you guys got to drive home today, don't you?
Starting point is 00:43:34 It's a long drive. Be careful. It's a long drive. It is a long drive. But they gave a good effort last night against Ashland. Don Franklin Auto.com, if you need a vehicle, go to Don Franklin Auto. 27 locations, best prices, best selection. It's at don Franklin Auto.com.
Starting point is 00:43:51 Get the service you deserve and the price you need at Don Franklin Auto. dot com. A couple things. First of all, if you get a chance, look at Billy R.Sports hair in Shannon the dude's picture this morning. He went with the Lloyd Christmas cut this morning and he looks like, we all have a picture like that. Shannon had it right before I went to Europe. I had it about 15 years ago with my Maddie Bang's picture. The difference is Billy requested that haircut. He asked for that. Yeah. I didn't ask for mine. Mine was a mistake. He needs to slick his back. His was on purpose. Go ahead and slick that back, Billy. I think it'll look. better. I think Billy wears the slick back pretty well. I was shocked to see Shannon tweet that
Starting point is 00:44:31 photo this morning. I almost didn't know who I was looking at, if not for the eye heart stuff behind him. Let me ask you a question. What would Kentucky fans feel if they were like Maryland right now? About to play in the Sweet 16 and their coach refuses to say he won't go to Villanova. A lot of reports that he's going to leave for Villanova. He was asked yesterday and he basically ignored the question and just started talking about basketball. I googled. I Google, his name or on Twitter, I put on Twitter his name, and Maryland fans are just like, blank him. Like, Maryland fans hate their coach on the eve of their first Sweet 16 in quite some time. What do you make of all that?
Starting point is 00:45:10 Well, especially that's interesting, we just saw Will Wade, who fully acknowledged before McNeese State played that he was talking to North Carolina State. But you think he could do that because everyone knows McNeese State is not NC State, but Maryland and Villanova probably feel like they're on level or something like that? Yeah, it'd be hard to do exactly what Wade did, but he could certainly do better than he is now. I saw a tweet that he missed the team dinner. Like, I mean, if you're missing the team dinner. He missed the team dinner. Oh, that's not good.
Starting point is 00:45:38 I mean, it's not good. I know that this happens all the time. Is that true? He missed the team dinner? This account has like, it's got 30,000 views on the tweet. The account looks like that. Dude, if I was Villanova, I wouldn't want him now. You still got to be respectful.
Starting point is 00:45:52 That's still your team. You're still the coach. You wouldn't take the coach because he missed a dinner for a kid. another team? I think that says a lot about his character, and I don't know if I'd want him coaching my team. Really? Yeah. I'd say, okay, fine, we're going to go get X another guy.
Starting point is 00:46:07 X another guy. Will Wade. Will Wade's already got a new job. I don't think they can go get Will Wade. Yeah, there's a screenshot of text. It could be fake about him missing the team dinner. It's got a lot of views, though. People are running with it. But regardless, he has not done a good job. But, you know, keeping the attention off him and on his team. It feels like he
Starting point is 00:46:23 hasn't handled it well. It feels like there's a lot of different ways you could have done it. and he did it maybe the worst way. Isn't that right? Yeah, and, you know, they try to imply that we don't talk to each other until the season's over. I mean, that's bull crap. I mean, it happens all the time. Minnesota was talking to Tubby Smith in December when he took the job in April.
Starting point is 00:46:42 They just reached out, reached to their agents, their people. There's talks underway long before the NCAA March Madness started. But at the same time, this is the guy who I just mentioned in his press conference, they asked a star player why he likes playing for Willer. He's like, because he pays me funny. Really just Maryland altogether is not great at PR in this tournament run. Well, we'll see. They play Florida.
Starting point is 00:47:00 I think they're going to get run off the court tonight. People may blame this. I think they were going to get run off the court either way. Either way tonight. Who's up next? Babbo. Babbo. How are you Babbo?
Starting point is 00:47:11 I'm fantastic, Matt. Hey, two things here quickly. Cooper's going to win it all. They're playing for their coach. They're playing for Northern Kentucky. They're going to win it all. And secondly, we rate the type of, talk to my Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone and Simon Kenton so much better than Davey Crockett.
Starting point is 00:47:32 You ever hear the little song about David Crockett? I don't have a lot of Davey Crockett gossip. Thank you guys. But I'm sure it's interesting. It's Davey, Davey Crockett. Peas in his pants and poops in his pocket. Sounds like a Ryan Lemon song. It does.
Starting point is 00:47:53 I appreciate the call. They didn't teach me that one in school. All right, so it's opening day. We do this every year. I don't think you've ever once been close to right, Ryan. Give me your World Series here as we start. Can I go with my heart? No.
Starting point is 00:48:08 Pick who you think's going to win. Well, the easy pick is the Los Angeles Dodgers. Against two. I'm going to say against the Texas Rangers. Los Angeles Dodgers against the Texas Rangers. All right, and you got the Dodgers winning. Yep. What about you?
Starting point is 00:48:23 I'm going to keep in the same division. division and go my Atlanta Braves versus the Mets. In the World Series? That can't happen. That's not allowed. Why would it be in the same division? Sorry, that was really dumb. I even said same division.
Starting point is 00:48:38 Yankees is what I mean, but I don't throw in that extra. Against two. That was a Ryan Lemon, same with my Braves. Okay, and who wins? Braves. But, you know, Dodgers are the heavy favorite. Can't pick the Dodgers. It would be impressive if the Mets played the Braves in the World Series.
Starting point is 00:48:50 I'm going to go the Dodgers against the... Let's go Dodgers Yankees. Make it like one for the books. I do think my rins are making the playoffs. Oh, that's really good. Are they expanding the playoffs this year to like 25 teams? First of all, y'all need to shut your mouths. Like, they're going to make the playoffs.
Starting point is 00:49:08 They're going to make the playoffs. Thank you very much. Playoff for a worst team in baseball. The playoff for your face. I mean, they're going to end up making the playoffs, and it's going to be very exciting. And I'm going to have tickets. And by the way, you get none, Shannon.
Starting point is 00:49:23 And there you go. Your Braves tickets were now going to someone else. Can I still have cardinal tickets? You didn't? No, wait a minute. You spit. You're out, too. I had something caught in my throat.
Starting point is 00:49:33 It had something caught in my throat. He was still laughing at the Navy Crockett. I will say, I'm excited to drive to Cincinnati and listen to Bill Cunningham yell from the opening day parade. Remember last year he was like, I'm excited to listen to that. I totally forgot about that. Yeah, they broadcast the parade live. I think it's probably going on right now. Probably right now.
Starting point is 00:49:51 You're listening it. Right? So I'm excited. All right. So tomorrow we will be here at this bar. Then 5 o'clock pregame. Tell me we're going to win, Ryan. Tell me.
Starting point is 00:50:01 I don't have as much confidence as Drew, but I feel good about the game just because, for whatever reason, we play well against his team. And I like it. I like our chances. I mean, you got to play somebody good. Would you rather play Alabama who's gotten you three times? No. Their team you know you've beaten.
Starting point is 00:50:16 They went to Knoxville without Lamont Butler or Andrew Carr and beat this team. They beat him in Rup by 11. what's there to be afraid of? You've got to play somebody. Why not play a team you've already gotten twice? Of the two seeds, St. Johns is out. So would we rather play Arkansas, Michigan State, or Alabama? The prospect of losing to Arkansas would hurt too much.
Starting point is 00:50:40 So really, your Michigan State or Alabama, I'd probably rather play Michigan State, but I certainly would rather play Tennessee than Alabama. So you know what? Let's do it. It's in indie. Got our crowd there. let's do it we need to feel like they do about football when they play us we need to not worry about the fear of losing and having to listen to their terrible fans on twitter we just need to be kentucky
Starting point is 00:51:01 and beat them again we have we have kobe bray we have lamont butler and they have daisy crockett who poops in his pants we have austin horn you know walker horn and austin horn we have trent noah who's played well in both tennessee games we're going to win the game right we'll do it we will be here at ks bar tomorrow thank you all very much for showing up here today. If you're in town for the Sweet 16, come by. We'll see you tomorrow morning. Let's go cats.
