Starting point is 00:03:21 774-45-254. It was Bill Parcells, Ryan, that said the grocery line. I said Bill Gotcha. Gotcha. And a couple people are noting there was another player on the team whose last name is Tyler, who also was a carryover from the last administration and maybe also was asked to transfer. Does that change your mind at all, Ryan? Sinaya Tyler. Sinai Tyler.
Starting point is 00:03:47 It doesn't change my mind. No. Why? Like why? Do you think he should have kept them both? I don't know what the Tyler girl situation is. But let's just say for sake of argument. because I do think that's important.
Starting point is 00:03:59 Is he under obligation then? She's a rising senior. Is he under obligation to keep them both and to keep, or are you okay with him saying both players didn't play a lot? You can stay, you can't, or does he have to say, like, does he have to keep, because if he says Roe has to stay, then doesn't he also have to give that same opportunity to Tyler? I think he does. I think.
Starting point is 00:04:27 Okay, so now you're taking up two of his roster spots just so that you don't hurt people's feelings. The 14th spot and the 15th spot on the roster. Well, first of all, you say that. That's not necessarily true. Okay. It may be the case that they go to 15, but that might not start until the next year. So people are just saying that like that's true. That might not be true.
Starting point is 00:04:48 It might be, it might not. We won't know until April 7th. It might be the 12 spot and the 13th spot, and then you only have 11 guys. And I'll just note with the men's team this year, we could have used another guy or two. Oh, there's no doubt the men's team could have. So let's just again, let's say, though, let's say that we don't add those extra two spots yet. We don't know if it will happen or not. And is he under obligation to keep those two folks?
Starting point is 00:05:13 Under no obligation, but I think perception-wise he probably should have. So are you saying that a coach should always keep every player that stays when he comes into a new thing. No. No, but I think Cassidy's situation is different because she's... But why is it different than the other girls? I just think because she's from Kentucky and she's going to be a senior. Well, so this other girl was going to be a senior, wasn't she?
Starting point is 00:05:36 I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. And she played more minutes. So that's what I'm saying. I just think we have to be consistent.
Starting point is 00:05:44 I get that we love people from Kentucky. I have a bias for people from Eastern Kentucky. I will fully acknowledge it. It affects how I look at everything. because that's where I'm from. I get it. But how do you, Ryan, look at the girl who's in the same situation as Cassidy and played more minutes and scored more points and said,
Starting point is 00:06:04 you go, but I'm keeping her because she's from Kentucky? Like, can you really do that? I guess you can, but I don't know if you should. Okay, so then you've got to take them both. And then if they don't go to 15, now of a sudden you are really dinting into your scholarships. So if Cassidy really wanted to play and they don't go to 15, why couldn't she just be a walk-on then?
Starting point is 00:06:26 Well, I mean, maybe she could have, but maybe she didn't want to do that. I don't know. Her statement she put out where she said, I will never wear another color other than blue. I think maybe she would have just taken that option. But do you know that? No, I'm just talking out loud. There's a lot of blue teams out there, too, she could go to. So that would still be true.
Starting point is 00:06:45 Listen, it's hard. Part of me is playing devil's advocate because I feel like this story, there's a part of, There's a part of me that says, okay, I understand the sympathy for Cassidy. I get it. I have sympathy. I understand where a dad's coming from. If it was my kid, I'd probably feel the same way. But why isn't the state as outraged or as frustrated about the Tyler kid?
Starting point is 00:07:11 Because she's not from here, I think. But that just doesn't seem like, okay, do we want to play big time basketball or not? If you do, then it can't just be that they're from Kentucky. And maybe there is a difference in how Roe and Tyler are. I don't know. I'd be honest with you, I don't know enough about either one of them to know. But if we're all going to be outraged about Roe, why aren't you outraged about Tyler? I think you have to ask yourself that question.
Starting point is 00:07:38 Yeah, I didn't even know about the Tyler situation. Exactly. And so maybe there are things people don't know. I just think we all, and I'm as guilty of this as anybody. I'm not putting myself above this. but we all get outraged about things and then sometimes when we learn more about them we take a step back and go
Starting point is 00:07:55 oh well wait a minute I will admit I didn't even know there was another kid that was going to be a senior I didn't either and that's my fault I didn't know but now that I know is he obligated Shannon to take two people out of the kindness of his heart?
Starting point is 00:08:10 No no I don't care where they're from she could be from the moon for all I care I just want the best players that he can put together on one team that's it bottom line So, all right, let's switch gears for a second. Let's talk about Pope's statements yesterday. Drew, we'll start with this. He said that he wanted the Mountain Mamba to gain 18 to 20 pounds in this offseason.
Starting point is 00:08:33 I feel like all four of us could have done that for him without him even. Like, we could gain 18 to 20 pounds pretty easily, right? But he says he wants 18 to 20 pounds. He wants Trent Noah to be thicker. do you think that's doable in an offseason for a kid? I think it's doable and I liked hearing that he has a plan for Noah. I don't think Noah would go anywhere, but if anyone was wondering his future and what kind of role he'd have on next year's team,
Starting point is 00:09:01 Pope was talking like he's going to be a big piece and how they're going to get him in the right shape to even take another step forward. I also found it very interesting that he said Trent Noah has a beautiful body, which was a, he did not say, no, wait a minute, he did not say, He did not say he had a beautiful body I think the family brothers would have said that he would hold it against him if he said that. I was sitting home with my notepad tallying the beautifuls
Starting point is 00:09:26 and when he was talking about Trent's body, he called it beautiful. They're going to get it in shape. So on a serious note, it did sound like they want to Noah to be a big part of the team moving forward. There was a lot about that. Did he really say he had a beautiful body? Yep.
Starting point is 00:09:40 Everything's beautiful. My man loves the word beautiful. doesn't he. I'm going to try to get the exact quote, but he definitely said. Give me the exact quote. Like I said, the Bellamy brothers have a song about that. Ryan, do you think our man from Harland could get 20 more pounds on? Man, that's a lot in one off season. That's going to be some serious work in the weight room. I think that's kind of what he was insinuating. We just need to get him stronger so he can maybe play a little more down in the paint. But I think they got, I do have plans for Trent Noah in the future. I found my notes. Okay. He's built. I might have exaggerated a little bit, but he's He said he's built. No, no, it's still pretty close. He said he's built in a beautiful way, talking about his body. I've said that before about a lot of people. I say that all the time about Ryan. He's built in a beautiful way. God's creation over there. He also, Pope also said Ryan that they would love to play in the Maui Invitational, but it is on the back burner because they have an obligation that they have to play so many games in Rupp Arena. This is the only, depressing thing I've heard from Pope in a while because his inclination, he was essentially saying, don't expect us to play in any of these offseason tournaments because we are required
Starting point is 00:10:55 to play home games against bad teams. And I hate hearing that, especially with this new multi, you know, this new million dollar NIL tournament that's going to happen in November, starting the season after next. Like, we got to get, I get we need the money, but like, we to start playing in some of this stuff. There's only so many times I can watch us play Jackson State, you know? Yeah, and we get jealous when we see these other teams and fan bases going to these other tournaments and the new tournament you're talking about. We want Kentucky to be a part of that.
Starting point is 00:11:28 So we would much rather see that than playing poop tooth state or somebody at Ruppering. He can't just use a regular school. He has to always say poop, Shannon. He can't just say like, you know, Tennessee Tech. He has to go, has to be a bodily function. But it's beautiful. and he says it's not beautiful it's actually the opposite beautiful i i don't like that i mean i i get it but like these other schools find a way to not have to play all those home games it feels like we should
Starting point is 00:11:56 be able to do it too we make more money in a home game than anybody so if you know if if if alabama and these schools can find a way to do it still get players go to the final four it feels like we should be able to find a way to do it too because our fans uh want to see us play games like that. And then finally, because I left the comedy show, I got to watch my man Ellie go four for five last night with two home runs. The Reds win 14 to one. Now, there's some rumors, Shannon, that Ellie was using the torpedo bat, which is taking over the conversation. The Yankees used it, hit like nine home runs. This is the bat that looks like a bowling pin or whatever. I don't know if, I haven't seen confirmation that Ellie was using that bat, but if he was, he hit it like four hundred and
Starting point is 00:12:42 30 feet on a home run. What do you think of the torpedo bat as a baseball guy's? And unfair? No, as long as it's within the rules, I think you're going to see probably every team and probably every player switched to the torpedo bat. It reminds me more. I was telling Ryan, more like a softball bat. But if that's what's working, then I'm for it.
Starting point is 00:13:01 Ryan, you okay with a torpedo bat? Well, I guess right now it's legal. There's nothing wrong with it. But it does look like an aluminum softball bat. Just the extended barrel goes a lot longer than the, the, old-style bats we used to see. So can I ask you a question? Why haven't they done this a long time ago?
Starting point is 00:13:16 Drew has asked the same thing. It's an invention. You could say that about any invention. But I mean, like it feels like to me, you know how sometimes people go, why don't you just have a goalie in hockey that's really fat? I have often said, why aren't the bats just bigger? And people will be like, oh, you don't understand baseball. But now, like, okay, the bats are bigger and they're hitting it farther.
Starting point is 00:13:39 Drew, it feels like, why didn't they do this a long time ago? That was my exact thought. Baseball has been around forever using the same bat most of the time. I guess it's an MIT person for the Yankees. Did they just wake up one day? We're like, hey, we could change this and just hit bombs every game. We could make the bat bigger. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:13:59 Then, like, I don't know, Drew. It feels like it should have been an obvious invention. I don't know. I'm someone that thinks they should change the baseball to a tennis ball and legalize steroids because I want like 20, 18 scores. So I'm hoping that every team catches on and it really is the bat and they just completely changed the game over one guy changing the design.
Starting point is 00:14:20 I'll tell you this, Ellie hit it like a thousand feet yesterday. So if it's the bat, then it feels like, Ryan, this will make a huge change on baseball because the Yankees set a record for home runs and then Ellie just, if he was using it yesterday, just crush the ball. Maybe this is like where we're headed. Yeah, I don't think it's coincidence that that happened. hitting the 450-foot bomb and the Yankees hit 25 home runs in the game. That's not coincidence.
Starting point is 00:14:47 It's definitely the bat. So now, I guarantee by tonight there will be more people use it. Tomorrow night there'll be more people use it and it's going to take over right now. Now, will the Braves ever win a game? No, no, no, no. I think they're waiting for August to get hot. I don't know what's going on with them. I mean, they just lost their left filter for half the season due to a filled drug test.
Starting point is 00:15:07 They're in trouble. It's very likely they're going to start the season 0-and-7. They've got 2-0-0-5. and they still have to play the Dodgers two more games. So Drew, are you panicking yet? Yes, it's kind of reminded me of last season when there was a lot of hope and optimism. They were one of the favorites to be in the World Series
Starting point is 00:15:24 and they were injured all year. We're five games in, and you've already got an 80 game suspension, a starting pitcher, injured, all kinds of nonsense. And you're 0 and 5. It's already killed my hope for the year, and it's just now April 1st. Yeah, well, it was, I will tell you this. If they continue making bats where you can hit it 600 feet,
Starting point is 00:15:46 I will watch even more baseball because that was fun to watch last night. Who's next? Ronnie. Ronnie. Go ahead, Ronnie. Hey, good morning. So, this type of question and maybe a quick comment on April Fool's. But the first question is, so what's the purpose of a letter of intent?
Starting point is 00:16:05 Are you not signing to play for the school? The letter of intents are now almost not. never even signed because, you know, Brandon Knight was the first guy many years ago to not sign a letter of intent. And now I think most top kids don't because what a letter of intent used to do was it would bind you, but it didn't bind the school. So you would have to go there, but the school didn't have to take you. And I think Brandon Knight was the first kid I can remember going, why am I signing this?
Starting point is 00:16:34 Like, why should I bind myself if it doesn't bind then? And so actually, I don't think kids even sign them anymore. Sometimes they'll do the ceremonies, but they actually. rarely sign the actual document anymore. Okay. I mean, that makes sense because it doesn't really, I was just thinking it was a binding issue to the school. It's not.
Starting point is 00:16:53 The school can still tell you know. Yeah. Yeah, they would not let you transfer to, you know, if you wanted to get out, you couldn't transfer in conference and things like that. Yeah, if I'm a kid, I don't sign it. What was your second thing? Well, so on April Fool's one year,
Starting point is 00:17:10 I worked at a bus compound for, picking up students and dropping them off at school, when a bus driver's got back in the morning, I left notes on their keychain with a number to the Louisville Zoo. And I put names like J. Raff or Elephant on there and just spelled them different. And I cracked up just watching all these people come back and call the number. See, now that is an April. I appreciate to call.
Starting point is 00:17:38 That's an April Fool's joke. Ryan would have just like, you know, given a false, like, bus route for everyone. I would have taken the wheels off the bus. You'd have slashed the bus is tires. Yeah, I mean, you're not. Ryan doesn't understand. Hey, it's our friend at Cornbread Hymn's birthday. Six years of Kentucky Hemp excellence with co-founders, Eric and Jim.

Starting point is 00:18:23 You get 30% off. It's a great deal, B-Day from cornbread hemp. We'll take a break. Barry Beck, KSR. Last night, a blown call changed the game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending, opinions are flying, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened.
Starting point is 00:18:38 That's where Sports Slice comes. in. I'm Timbo. Every episode we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the plays, the controversies, and the stories behind the headlines. We go straight to the source, the athlete themselves, their locker room stories, their reactions, the stuff nobody gets to hear. The laughs, the drama, the triumphs, the moments that never make the highlight real. From viral moments to historic games, from buzzer beaters to controversial calls, we break it down, give you context and ask the questions everybody wants answered. Sports slice brings you closer to the action with stories told, by the people who live them.
Starting point is 00:19:10 Listen to Sports Slice on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more, follow Timbo Sliced Life 12 in the TikTok podcast network on TikTok. What's up, guys? This is Clivert Taylor the 4th. And on my podcast, The Cliverts show,
Starting point is 00:19:24 I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff. Like being an internet famous referee. We're in the middle of a game. This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me, he goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Time out.
Starting point is 00:19:40 Quarterback on office blue with 42. Hey, Wreck. My mama want you to weigh better. What? Hey, Ms. Parker. Listen to the Clifford show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas.
Starting point is 00:20:01 And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defying the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows. Without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
Starting point is 00:20:23 I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash will get that thing.
Starting point is 00:20:44 That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers why he got the ball, like, after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app,
Starting point is 00:21:00 Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. There are times when the mind becomes a difficult place to live. This is David Eagleman with the Inner Cosmos podcast. and for Mental Health Awareness Month, we're dedicating a series to understanding the mind when it struggles. I'm joined by doctors, researchers, and those with lived experience. We'll talk with singer-songwriter Jewel about anxiety.
Starting point is 00:21:25 I started living in my car, and then my car got stolen. I was shoplifting. I was having panic attacks. I was agoraphobic. And making it through hardship. To be present is a learned skill, and it's hard to be present. We'll talk with John Nelson about clinical depression and the brain implant that saved his life. What I learned is that procedure made me happy because I'm disease-free. And we'll talk with leading experts like Judd Brewer about anxiety,
Starting point is 00:21:53 and John Hirschfield about obsessive-compulsive disorder, and the science of how the brain can change. This is a month of deeply personal and honest conversations about what happens when the brain goes off course and what we can do about it. Listen to Inner Cosmos on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Yes, this is what Mark Pope asked Trent Noah, I guess, yesterday when, I can't believe he said that. Even the way you read it, Drew, it's a funny line to me to say. It's built in a beautiful way.
Starting point is 00:22:33 It's built in a beautiful way. So the bat, Ryan, is not bigger. they just redistribute the weight. It's the same way they just move some of the weight down towards the handle because people end up hitting the ball more on the handle than they do on the barrel. But isn't that probably because of pitching? Like, do you think the pitchers will adjust now? They may try to, but yeah, they extend to that barrel where it's down and around where the label used to be.
Starting point is 00:23:04 So Ellie did have that bat. He confirmed. So the Reds, all right, now, again, this is still anecdotal. But the Reds, most of the Reds last night used the bat. So far, the Yankees and the Reds are the only one that have used it. The Reds were able to get it because a manager drove to Louisville and got it from Louisville Slutter. Okay. So just anecdotally now, the Yankees put up record offense.
Starting point is 00:23:30 Then in the first game, the Reds used it, Shannon, they get 14 runs. So if that's the case, everybody's going to be using it soon. Right? And then the score will be 15 to 14 like Drew once. It'll be a softball game. So, you know, you can say, is that good or bad for baseball?
Starting point is 00:23:46 I mean... It's got people talking about baseball. That's true. The entire Braves manager staff is on the road right now on the way to Louisville to get some bats. They're driving to Louisville to put a whole... We need to those cricket paddles is what we need to get to the Braves. They're terrible.
Starting point is 00:24:03 It's interesting. So I guess they just got down I-71 and we're like, give us all the bat you got. You would think it would take a baseball player time to have to get used to the new thing. But if Ellie just got them yesterday and then went four or five, maybe Drew it doesn't take that long. Really in all this, I think the biggest surprise is that it was the second hour before you mentioned Ellie's big game. I got here fully expecting this to be Reds Radio after the nighty head. If I had been at the game, we would have. if I had been at the game.
Starting point is 00:24:33 I thought about you every time I saw a new tweet of what he was doing. He's so good. He's so good. He's so fun. Was he the only read to use the new bat last night? No, they said a few of them did. Matt McLean did. I think he hit home run. Maybe a couple other guys too.
Starting point is 00:24:49 Ellie, I've said this, is my favorite. I think he's, Drew, I think he's my favorite professional athlete of all time. Whoa. Any sport? That's crazy. He is pretty likable. I don't, I mean, the reds are fine, but he does seem like a lot of fun. So my team's the Bears.
Starting point is 00:25:07 I'm trying to think who's the bear that I've liked the most. And it was probably like Walter Payton, but I was a little kid, you know. Jay Culler? No, I did not like Jay Culler. And maybe I liked Erlocker a lot. Then basketball, I've never really had a pro team. I root for the Knicks a little bit. I like the Carolina Hurricanes, but I'm not sure there's one player that has stuck out.
Starting point is 00:25:28 And then baseball, you know, I rooted for the Braves. I really like Dale Murphy when I was a kid, but then when I switched to the Reds, everyone has stunk since I've been a fan of them. You know, maybe, I mean, I like Tiger and Greg Norman, but I do think, Drew, I think he's my favorite professional athlete, and he's 20 years younger than I am, but he's awesome. I get it.
Starting point is 00:25:49 I mean, I'm not really a Reds fan, but having been to a couple games, it's hard not to get into the Ellie Mania because he seems like such a fun guy, just good personality and, of course, doing some historic things there, so I completely get it. All right, Ryan, I have a warning for you.
Starting point is 00:26:03 You remember it was about a year ago that I told you or eight months ago to stock up on eggs? You remember that? Oh, yes. It wasn't that long ago, you said that. And guess what? It ended up correct. The egg thing became a thing.
Starting point is 00:26:14 And now eggs are like $43 an egg. All right, so now I have the next thing. Do you know about America's bee crisis? Bees? No, I don't. Bees. No, don't. Apparently, according to this article, I read, 80% of the bees in America have died in the last year.
Starting point is 00:26:35 Now, apparently that's a high number. Shannon, I don't know how many bees die in a year anyway. 80% sounds like a high number. It feels like a lot. And they say that starting this fall, the cost of honey, is going to rise substantially. And apparently bees have something to do with pollination of fruits. I don't know the science of it,
Starting point is 00:26:56 but that it could lead to higher fruit costs, specifically fruits that are based in America like oranges. Now, I'm not a scientist, but I warned you about the eggs, and that came true. So Ryan might be time to stock up on honey and get ready for your fruit costs to go up because, and the scientists, by the way, don't know why the bees are dying. They're very concerned. I know Kentucky, I think you may remember this. There's a city in Kentucky that's like the center of beekeeping in America.
Starting point is 00:27:25 Do you remember that? Litchfield. Litchfield. Yeah. Maybe someone from Litchfield knows. why, but Ryan, there's apparently a bee crisis as well. I didn't know the bees were dying like that, but I can see why if there's going to be a spike in honey and fruits, they're very crucial in both of those elements.
Starting point is 00:27:42 I don't know the science. Why are bees crucial for fruits? They like pollinate the flowers. Like if they go to one tree and they get stuff on their legs and their wings and they go to another tree, just it transforms into the other tree leaves and it blossoms. I was watching his wheels turn as he was trying to get that out. What do you mean? So they transform one tree into another tree? Yeah, their stuff gets on their legs and their bodies on one tree.
Starting point is 00:28:15 What do you mean? Stuff. What do you mean? You know, not pollen, but, you know, the stuff that pollinates the next tree, the other tree, but their neighbor. Yeah, pollen doesn't pollinate. I think it is pollen. I think that's what you're looking for. You had it.
Starting point is 00:28:27 I think it's pollen. It's not just, it's not just stuff. No, I think it's pollen. He had it right. He had it right. He talked himself out of it. Pollinate with pollen. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:40 Well, anyway, watch out for that. Because it might end up negative. Who's next? Chewoo. Chewoo, 40 seconds, quick. All right, y'all, thanks for getting to me. I was just wondering how the football team was looking. But the past out of that, basketball teams,
Starting point is 00:29:00 they have to, we have to, we have. have to play against the SEC. I think, you know, Mark Pope and, you know, Kim, they have to recruit for SEC games. That's who we play. You better have some Bryce Hopkins on your team. You better. So that, you know, in 40 seconds or whatever, you know, when y'all got to me. So I appreciate that.
Starting point is 00:29:23 Talk about that. Y'all take care. Yeah. No, the athletic part is a big part of it. I think it's a good point. We'll talk right there after this. T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J. He'll make them pay.
Starting point is 00:29:37 Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. Welcome back, Kentucky Sports Radio. On the text machine, 772-774-5254. One person writes, Matt, I teach a science class. I'm on break right now. I'm going to use Ryan's explanation of pollination because even though it sounded ridiculous, he actually was correct.
Starting point is 00:29:58 How about that, Ryan? I kind of knew what I wanted to say. I didn't know if the words came out the right way. Yeah. Well, they didn't. But you were still in the ballpark of it. Yes, 80% of bees have died. And they don't know exactly why, but it is a concern, Shannon.
Starting point is 00:30:17 So yet another thing for people to be worried. I am very concerned about it. I love honey. So if we run out of honey, what are we going to do? We have to have, like, lab create it, honey. We don't need that. Yeah. I don't need that.
Starting point is 00:30:29 I don't really know. One person writes, Matt, how do you not know about pollination for a smart person? You're the dumbest smart person I know. Well, thank you very much for that. I just, I don't know science.
Starting point is 00:30:41 I've never known science. I just, you know, I've heard, I mean, I've heard a pollination, but I couldn't tell you, Drew,
Starting point is 00:30:47 exactly, you know, there's something about a stamen. Isn't that something in a flower? Yep, pistol. There's a pistol and a stamen, right?
Starting point is 00:30:57 And then they come together. together and it's like it's beautiful in love and it's beautiful and they have something else is that right drew i don't know uh science wasn't a class i paid a lot of attention in i mean i wrote the whole periodic table down to cheat on a test so science wasn't getting my best effort i feel like ryan nailed it though i learned i learned more from ryan than i learned all through high school yeah uh one person writes matt you are a liberal and i can tell by you lying and saying that eggs are expensive since trump's been president they've gone down you should know that. Well, I don't buy eggs, but I remember reading Shannon that they got very expensive.
Starting point is 00:31:33 Are they not expensive anymore? They're very expensive. Yeah, I wouldn't recommend getting a lot of them if you can avoid it. It's expensive. It seemed like yesterday, Ryan, the UK baseball thing kind of went viral. I saw it on ESPN. I saw it a couple of like all the baseball people are now debating what happened in that Texas A&M game. And I got to watch the whole video and there is no doubt that we were milking the time clock. They did two meetings on the mound. They intentionally threw balls to try to extend. And then, you know, there was like a shot clock of how long until it hit 430. And I didn't realize how much the A&M manager and Mingeon went at each other. I mean, they were screaming at each other. Mingione was like losing it. The A&M guy came out of
Starting point is 00:32:23 the dugout. I'm sure you've seen it by now. Do you think we were in the wrong or do you think it's just gamesmanship? Both. It was definitely gamesmanship. Probably shouldn't have done it. And from what I understand, it wasn't a curfew. It was Kentucky's own time limit they put on because they had to catch a commercial flight back to Lexington. No, it was a curfew, though.
Starting point is 00:32:49 It was agreed upon curfew by both teams. Well, that's their fault for agreeing to it then. You agreed to it, Texas A&M. Don't cry about it when we milk the clock. I think it's an SEC rule. On the day you're traveling, it can't be later than... Yeah, I mean, they had to catch a commercial flight, but it was a rule. It wasn't like Kentucky was just like, we're not playing anymore.
Starting point is 00:33:07 Okay, I thought Kentucky says, hey, we had to be out of here by 530. SEC has a game day travel rule. Yeah, what did you think, Drew? I mean, once I watched it, you know, it was a little bit of sleight of hand, but I... The Texas A&M announcer were suggesting that the A&M guy should just strike out, so they got another inning, which was kind of in front of. Steve. Yeah, I'm obviously going to side with Nick Mingione here, you know, the rules of the rules.
Starting point is 00:33:33 I think it's a dumb rule more than anything that the two sides did in Texas. I noticed just, I wondered how much of Minggione's arguing was just further delaying. Like, he turned it up even more. Because the more the A&M coach yelled at him and he yelled back, that's just eating more time. So they had just kept stretching it out. I noticed the clip of the pitcher. He took so long between the pitches. He took so long. It was great. You're a purity of baseball guy, Shannon. Where did you come in on? The curfews is a dumb rule to begin with, but I have the same viewpoint when, you know,
Starting point is 00:34:04 teams complain about the other team running up the score. I would say to A&M, why are you losing the game? If you're not losing the game, they're not, Kentucky's not going to try to run out the clock. And who knows if they would have done the same thing, right? They were up by five. They might have walked out of the batters box and done all those things. But if you haven't seen the clip, ESPN on their social media has like a two-minute clip. And Minjeon is getting worked up about it.
Starting point is 00:34:31 And they are straight. And then, you know, they were waiting for the handshake at the end, but it was actually pretty cordial. It was quick, but cordial. Kentucky ended up winning the series, but getting us definitely some publicity. Who's next? Mark.
Starting point is 00:34:44 Mark, go ahead, Mark. Hi, I just want to say I love the camaraderie and the friendship you guys have. It adds such a great dynamic to your show. And particularly Ryan, I was trying to figure out what does this remind me of with the debate about April Fool's joke versus a prank. A couple weeks ago, it was a lie about getting into a high school gym or whatever. And I felt like I was listening to the Smothers Brothers.
Starting point is 00:35:13 And I kept expecting Ryan to burst into, Mom always liked you best. Yeah, I don't know any Smothers Brothers references, but I do. I do remember the Smothers Brothers. Yeah, I mean, I always say, and I appreciate the call, this show to me, I based it off of part Tony Kornheiser, but part Howard Stern, because Howard Stern had all these people, and they seemed to get along, or at least like you got to know the folks. And the good thing, though, right, is we are actually friends. Since I've been at ESPN, I've started, like, over the years, there have been shows there. even since I've been there that the host didn't really like each other
Starting point is 00:35:58 and they still have to do it and I don't know how they do it. Like I don't know how you go in there and act like you can talk to somebody for two or three hours and you don't like them. It seems like that would be misery to do every day.
Starting point is 00:36:10 The shows that are successful are the people that like each other, not just like each other on the show but off the show. When we get out of the studio, those are the shows that have the most success. And because you could feel it. You're right.
Starting point is 00:36:21 When two hosts don't really like each other, you can kind of tell it once in a while. Yeah. You know, it's been, that's been one of the transitions for me with ESPN is that Myron and I are friends. A lot of the other people I work with, I don't really know them.
Starting point is 00:36:35 And it's really hard, in my opinion, to sit there and like, you know, because Shannon, I'll try to poke at them. Yeah. And they'll kind of be like,
Starting point is 00:36:42 what are you doing? I feel like radio is one of the truest forms. Don't you talk to me like that, you know, and you're exactly right. Because I don't know how people do it. You can't really fake it if you do. it's obvious.
Starting point is 00:36:54 Like people will be able to see right through it. That's what I'm saying. Like radio, like there's no script here. It's just us talking. And if you don't like somebody, it's going to show. I mean,
Starting point is 00:37:02 I won't mention who it is, but I've worked with a couple people at ESPN where I would try to do my thing with them and be like, oh, you've been seeing, you know, and they just like, it feels like they want to punch me through the radio.
Starting point is 00:37:14 And, you know, I don't know how people, I don't know how people do it, but, you know, we've been lucky not to have to worry about that. Who's next? Jack. Jack, go ahead, Jack.
Starting point is 00:37:22 Hey, thanks for taking my call. I got a couple things that sort of bother me. It's like the dude saying we have a B. We're going to grade them a B because we didn't, you know, we didn't get to the lady. But now we have the women's side where it's like, why are we not keeping the girl from Kentucky? You didn't want the best players or you don't want the best players. I mean, I think there's a lot of truth to that, by the way. I mean, I think at the same time, you can't sit here and say, this is Kentucky, we have to do this, and then go, but let's have all these spots for people from Kentucky.
Starting point is 00:38:02 Like, if you do that, I agree with you. I think those things are mutually inconsistent. And then some of the fan base, Kerr put out a tweet yesterday, and I, you know, I put a nice tweet in there, and I just happened to look. And then you have people that are down in him saying that he was healthy on the bench. the guy against Gonzaga on a broken foot ran down to make a play, but yet people were calling him weak because he just sat on the bench when Lamont was playing through the shoulder. I mean, a foot's a little different than a shoulder.
Starting point is 00:38:37 I mean, I think I – Listen, I agree with both those comments, and I appreciate the call. Drew, I think our fan – if I could change one thing about the UK fan base, it would be the way some of us act online. not just to like other members of the fan base but even to players like when kreisa says i loved it here goodbye why would you go in his comment section and write anything negative but we do have people who feel like they need to do that and i've never understood that yeah i remember um about a month ago i don't remember the exact tweet but is after a game someone tweeted at jackson
Starting point is 00:39:14 robinson something negative and he retweeted it like you know asking for support it's like i don't understand, even if you are upset with these guys or believe something, to go at them directly, it's just odd behavior to me, especially the people that DM them, just awful stuff. I just, I believe a large part of our society doesn't deserve the internet, and unfortunately, some of them are in the Kentucky fan base. You think they don't deserve the internet? No, they don't. People that fall for every AI thing or send nasty players messages, go outside, please.
Starting point is 00:39:46 The internet's not for everyone. Speaking of AI, are, you. Do you like these images, Shannon, like these cartoons that now they can draw of people in pictures? No, I don't either. I don't like AI. If you were a graphic designer, like, isn't your job over now? Like, if you went into graphic design, I mean, like, isn't that a career where, like, it's just going to go away? Yeah, a lot of things are going to go away thanks to AI.
Starting point is 00:40:09 Not just that. I used to spend hours. I'd stay up all night making one Photoshop for the website in 2012. now I can type it into a bar and it spits it out in two seconds. Yeah, I mean, we're going to, well, it's a bigger issue, but like we're going to run out of jobs for people because we created these computers to do them all. The finals are here. And the only thing for sure is it's the last time to bet on college basketball this season. So how about draft kings?
Starting point is 00:40:37 Bet five to get $150 in bonus bets instantly. Use my code KSR. New customers bet five get $150 in bonus bets when you get that $5. It's only at Draft Kings. Do it this weekend for the last four teams. The Crown is yours. If you have a gaming problem called 180, 18 plus, Kentucky only,

There's a new restaurant in Middlesboro that Shannon would love. It's called the Miener Weiner. And we'll talk about it next. Whoa.
Starting point is 00:41:14 You think I would love it. What's wrong with you? Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending, opinions are flying, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where Sports Slice comes in. I'm Timbo. Every episode, we're cutting through the noise.

This is Clivert Taylor the 4th.
Starting point is 00:42:11 And on my podcast, The Cliverts Show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff. Like being an internet famous referee. We're in the middle of a game. This linebacker walks up to me, he goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Quarterback on office blue with 42.
Starting point is 00:42:32 Hey, ref, my mama want you to wave at her. What? Where's she at? Hey, Miss Parker. Listen to the Clippers show on the IHeart Radio, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcast. What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm CJ Toledano and our podcast Point Game is about defying the odds.
Starting point is 00:42:54 Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows. Without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhaust.
Starting point is 00:43:15 at this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash will get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers why he got the ball.
Starting point is 00:43:38 Like, you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah. You figure it out real quick. Oh, yeah. Get your ass up and down. to court and you're going to get the balls. So listen to Point Game on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. There are
Starting point is 00:43:53 times when the mind becomes a difficult place to live. This is David Eagleman with the Inner Cosmos podcast and for Mental Health Awareness Month, we're dedicating a series to understanding the mind when it struggles. I'm joined by doctors, researchers, and those
Starting point is 00:44:09 with lived experience. We'll talk with singer-songwriter Jewel about anxiety. I started living in my car and then my car got stolen. I was shoplifting. I was having panic attacks. I was agoraphobic. And making it through hardship. To be present is a learned
Starting point is 00:44:25 skill and it's hard to be present. We'll talk with John Nelson about clinical depression and the brain implant that saved his life. What I learned is that procedure made me happy because I'm disease-free. And we'll talk with leading experts
Starting point is 00:44:41 like Judd Brewer about anxiety and John Hirschfield about obsessive compulsive disorder and the science of how the brain can change. This is a month of deeply personal and honest conversations about what happens when the brain goes off course and what we can do about it. Listen to Intercosmos on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome back.
Starting point is 00:45:14 It is Kentucky Sports Radio. Ryan, I just saw that picture of your neighbor that made us all into Legos. That's really good. Yeah, you were talking about the AI and things. He put it in some sort of AI algorithm and it popped us out as Lego guys. Oh, so he didn't really make it. That was AI. Some sort of AI.
Starting point is 00:45:32 So that's the problem. You can't even tell the difference. I thought it was real Legos. And I wondered why Drew had a shirt on that said Lisa on. I need a Lisa shirt. Why do you have a Lisa shirt? I don't understand. You did have a die of coke in your hand.
Starting point is 00:45:45 So these AI is getting out of control. That's pretty cool. AI is pretty good. All right. So, yes. So, Shannon, there's a new restaurant. in Middlesboro. It's right next to the Millsboro Mall.
Starting point is 00:45:54 It is called the Meener Weiner. Nice name. I like it. It's a hot dog and hamburger place called the Meener Weiner. I'm looking at their menu. They have all the hot dogs are $5. That feels like it's pretty good. For a hot dog?
Starting point is 00:46:09 Yeah. You got regular dogs, but then you also have a hunkabunk of burning love dog, right? You have a Rubin hot dog. Would you like a Rubin hot dog? know about a Rubin. Then they also do loaded fries including buffalo chicken fries. That sounds really good. Philly steak and cheese fries.
Starting point is 00:46:30 That sounds good. I would like to just see Ryan eat some of the things off this menu because I watched him eat a chili dog at the Kentucky Tennessee game and he ended up wearing half of it. So he would be a mess with. He would know. At that NCAA tournament game, Ryan spilled an entire chili dog and I mean all of it on his shirt. It was right as soon as he walked into the game. game. You end up having to take your shirt off, right?
Starting point is 00:46:54 Yeah, it was so bad. It's so bad I had to take it off and throw it in the trash. I had a t-shirt on underneath it. So I had to wear my t-shirt dress the night. He threw his shirt in the trash. It was so dirty. There was no saving. That was a nice U.K. shirt, too. It was new, right? It was brand new and it was over. So the next time we go to Middlesboro, are you all up for the meaner-weener? Let's go. Sounds good. Do you like the name, first of all? Is that a good name for a place? 100%. Listen, if a place in Middlesboro called the Meiner Weiner does not include Middlesbril's own Dick Tamer in their advertising, something is definitely wrong with them.
Starting point is 00:47:27 That is true. Dick Tamer should definitely. What if they name one after you? Would you want a hot dog named after Matt Jones? Yeah, I would be honored. Liberal weiner. Big Weir. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:41 You should definitely call it the Libweiner. I think that would definitely be the Libweener. It's perfect. The lib winner. If you're looking for a roofing company you can trust, call Bluegrass Roofing and Consulting, a family veteran and first responder-owned company. Bluegrass roofing uses state-of-the-art technology to give you a thorough breakdown of your roofing system, residential, commercial, it's all there.
Starting point is 00:48:02 Called Bluegrass Roofing and Consulting Lifetime Warranties. And if you say KSR, when you call the schedule, your free inspection, you'll get up to 5% off your roof repair or replacement. It's pretty good. 5% off, use code KSR, the issue. It is bluegrassroofinginconsulting.com or call 1-800 roof pro. Who's up next? Zeb. Zeb.
Starting point is 00:48:24 Go ahead, Zeb. Hey, Matt. Just back to basketball for just a second. It's for those people who said he can't coach. He can't coach defense. He's got to go after losing a game or two. Shut up. Please.
Starting point is 00:48:38 You know, you could cut the man a little slack. You put a roster together an hour and a half. You know, and see where he took us. So it's like my old man said. it's better to keep your mouth closed that people think you're a fool and open it, remove all doubt. That's all I got.
Starting point is 00:48:51 Thanks, Matt. I agree. I agree. I mean, it was a tough, tough finish with the Tennessee game, but I still think they maybe even overachieved over the course of the season.
Starting point is 00:49:02 Who's next? Jake. Jake, go ahead, Jake. Jake. Yeah, he's our last caller, and he's just hung up, so. That's all right. Jake, you got it.
Starting point is 00:49:13 You can't, you can't. Come on, Jake. You can be our last caller, Jake, and then not get it. All right. So, Drew, give us a, First of all, Ryan, an update on your portal. The guy that you gave the Googly eyes to.
Starting point is 00:49:24 Is he still coming? Magoon Gwath. I think it's how you pronounce his name. Yeah, I think he's the one that's going to come this week. I think we'll get at least two by the end of the week. And when you say two, you're throwing in an extra one. Do you have a person? Well, we've talked about him.
Starting point is 00:49:40 The dude from Robert Morris, the Spaniard from Robert Morris. I think he's highly, highly possible. He's going to join the Kentucky team also. The scoop? Well, that's the first time you've seen. said his name. I said he was one of the contenders. Are you throwing him into your scoop portal?
Starting point is 00:49:55 I mean, he's almost there, I think, but I think they may get commitments from both those guys before the end of the week. I mean, it is absolutely I mean, we are two minutes from the end of the show, Drew, and he just throws that in,
Starting point is 00:50:11 but while Price is Right might be playing on WLAP. I like how he doesn't know how this will blow up the internet, too. I'll spend all day on KS. Board trying to tell people that I don't know what's going on in his brain. So you think we get Magoon and the Robert Morris kit. Yeah, the Spaniard. Okay, by the way, just for the record, when you all write this, this is Ryan Lemon said it.
Starting point is 00:50:33 You said by the end of the week, too. You're saying by the end of the week. That's what I'm hearing. Is that Friday or Sunday? Yes. It's a Saturday then in the middle. Okay. They had a Zoom today.
Starting point is 00:50:49 And I guess he flew up to Chicago to meet with the UAB guy after his show last night. And I, you know, I don't know if he gets- Look at Ryan over here. Wait, man, where does that come from? He did a Zoom call with the dude from UAB before his show. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait a second. Where did you get that UABs? Has that been out?
Starting point is 00:51:05 I see, I'm afraid to say that. Will you listen to this shit? And he just, like, that's the number one dude in the portal. Yeah. Yaxel. And you just said he did that out of nowhere. After his coach's show last night, he flew up to Chicago. You've given Drew like three stories, according to Ryan Lemon.
Starting point is 00:51:22 Are you sure these things are true? Yes, he definitely flew up to me. Unbelievable. Listen to that. He's right. That was the biggest piece of news from the show, and it's 40 seconds until we leave, and that's when you decide to say it. What else is in that brain?
Starting point is 00:51:36 Quickly. Bees know how to pollinate other peas. Yes. Wow. The two best things I heard in the show were that, and then Tom Leach said they should call my hot dog at the meaner-weener-weener, the law dog. There you go. Nice job.
Starting point is 00:51:49 Leach. That's right. There you go. It's what Billy G used to call you, La LaL dog. I cannot get over the fact that we've been on this show rattling on about torpedo bats and about bees pollinating, and you knew that Kentucky went and visited the number one guy in the portal, and you didn't even mention it. I didn't know if it was already out there. I don't follow these guys.
Starting point is 00:52:13 Maybe look into it. When you know everything, you don't need to follow anybody else. You are an absolute, like, seriously. You are an absolute gym. You are a beautiful specimen of a man. Extraordinary. Extraordinary. Just superb, super.
Starting point is 00:52:30 All right. Well, there you go. You got some news at the end of the show from Ryan Lemon. Those people that didn't hear Price is right. I will still be here tomorrow for my final show before I leave for the Netherlands. We'll talk then. Maybe Ryan will have even more Scoopy waits the last second to say. This is Kentucky Sports Radio.
Starting point is 00:52:45 Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
