Starting point is 00:00:00 Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter.
Starting point is 00:00:23 Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Last night, a blown call changed a game. Your 20s can be so exciting, but they can also be really overwhelming, confusing, and honestly, just kind of lonely. May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and the psychology of your 20s is breaking down the science behind the biggest roadblocks we face. I was six years into my career, the 80-hour weeks and just the first one in, the last one out, and I ended up burning out. There was a large chunk of my 20s that I, like, was just so wanting to, like, be out of that phase out of my skin. And I just, like, really regret not living in the present more.
Starting point is 00:01:36 You don't need to have everything figured out right now. You just need to understand yourself a little bit better. Listen to the psychology of your 20s on the IHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Deanna Maria Rivera. And on my new podcast, How Hard Can It Be? I call on my Gen X squad from Ohio to Hollywood as we navigate Midlife's most fantastic BS. Yes. Unfiltered conversations from night sweats to futas to scheduling sex. Wait, what sex? Is it just me or does every woman my age want to look at Pinterest instead of having sex sometimes?
Starting point is 00:02:10 They say we can't polish a turd, but we're sure going to try. So let's get blunt with laughs, tears, or tears of laughter. Listen to How Hard Can It Be with Diana Maria Riva on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Comedy Up Broadway and Lexington. Welcome's Mike Armstrong, March 27. through the 29th. Then it's the Lexington debut of Lori Kilmartin, April 3rd through the 5th, and catch rising comedy star Sam Talent, April 11th and 12th. This is Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Starting point is 00:02:57 Now, here's Matt Jones. All right, good morning, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, grandpals and grandmas, aunts and uncles. This is the Thursday edition of Kentucky Sports Radio, Thursday, April the 3rd. Ryan Lemon, Drew Franklin, and Shannon, the dude here for you today. Matt is off and on his way to Amsterdam. He may be in Amsterdam as we speak right now, probably there on his fellowship, and we'll talk to you a little more about that. Of course, every edition of Connecticut Sports Radio sponsored by the T.J. Smith Law Office,
Starting point is 00:03:23 called DJ. T.J., what's he do, Shannon? He'll make them pay. He'll make them pay. Absolutely. We've got the A-Vision Glass Text Machine, which is also in Amsterdam. So if you have my cell phone, we'll use that as the A-Vision text machine today. Our Kentucky-Branded call today. Our Clark's prepping shop phone line is 859-280-2287.
Starting point is 00:03:41 Guys, a rough night across our state last night. I mean, it was awful. I mean, there's tornado warnings all across our state, a lot of damage across our state. A lot of people still without power this morning. were you awoken by the tornado warning alarm on your phone in the middle of the night? I was. I mean, most of the night before I fell asleep, I stayed up watching it keeping up with it. You know, I saw Madisonville had one kind of touchdown nearby.
Starting point is 00:04:07 I was worried about that. I mean, really across the whole state. But, you know, my attention was all on it, and I finally fell asleep around midnight. And then round two is when I got the tornado noise from my phone that scared the crap out of me. And me and my wife went down and I went downstairs and got it. close to, we don't have a basement, but did as best we could to get to a safe area and kind of waited to see how I'd come through Lexington. Luckily, it kind of went around or just miss Lexington, but still just an awful night across the state. I was trying to catch up
Starting point is 00:04:35 this morning, you know, when you find out, you wake up in daylight, see what happens. A lot of damage in Louisville, just areas all over. Have we even seen anything that widespread? That was crazy. It was everywhere. Yeah. Shannon, I guess Louisville got hit a lot harder than we did over here in Lexington. It did, yeah. Middletown and J-Town. There was a confirmed tornado. So definitely our thoughts are with those people who are waking up and having to deal with the damage that that storm calls last night. I'll tell you though, Ryan, when you live close to a fire department, there's pros and cons. The pro is, like, if the house catches on fire, I like my chances of the house surviving the fire. But when it's a tornado that's coming through, those
Starting point is 00:05:15 sirens go off and they are so loud. I feel like I've got a siren that's going off for an hour straight like in my ear. So I didn't get much sleep last night. But yeah, I definitely want to keep our thoughts with those who were, you know, victims of the tornado last night. It was bad here. Yeah, I guess they're saying one touchdown maybe in the Murray area, Paduca. I think a church in Paducah got destroyed. I saw that. They're saying East Louisville. But there were warnings even this morning when I woke up. There were still warnings south of us in Jamestown and Somers set in that area down there. I mean, it was an awful cell that went through.
Starting point is 00:05:56 I don't know the reports of injuries yet, but I haven't heard any. So thankfully, maybe we got through without anybody really having a bad injury. Yeah, I was trying to scan the news for that this morning. I didn't see anything, so hopefully that's the case that, you know, nothing too severe other than some property damage. You know, we got listeners not just in Kentucky. Tennessee got hit real bad. It is.
Starting point is 00:06:14 Selmer, Tennessee. I think that's some deaths in Tennessee, actually. Arkansas. Yeah, I got to give a little bit of a shout out. the Ryan Hall Yall guy we've talked about him on this show I watched his YouTube I was going back and forth between
Starting point is 00:06:29 WKYT and L-EX here in Lexington on my TV but I had him pulled up on YouTube he's the guy out of Pikeville right he must have been live streaming for 12 hours straight and I mean at one point there was like 250,000 viewers and he does an amazing job
Starting point is 00:06:45 of keeping you updated like he I mean he just stayed on top of it I didn't watch the whole stream, but that dude did not stop yesterday. He might still be going, I have no idea, but if no one watches him, I encourage it. He was very helpful. He even talked about up in Ohio where my wife's from. He kind of covers a little more than just Kentucky.
Starting point is 00:07:02 But he's just constantly moving. He has like storm chasers everywhere with videos. He's got the live themes that he goes into. So as this continues or God forbid it, we get into it again, you know, watch your local news because they were very helpful in the middle of the night too. But Ryan Hall, y'all, it does a great job. He's got like two million subscribers on YouTube. out of Pikeville, right? He is out of Pikeville.
Starting point is 00:07:22 Yeah, he has like a yawl watch out, you know, not to make light of the situation, but, I mean, he does a really good job. I spent most of my eye watching him. Well, you know, I like to poke fun in our local weather guys. Bill Meck, Chris Bailey, Jim Caldwell, TG Shuck. Well, maybe because I work with them. I know these guys. And I had to work in the newsroom with them. So always like to poke at them because I felt like they got a little more favoritism than the sports department did. But it's nights like last night, they are absolutely crucial to saving lives.
Starting point is 00:07:49 I mean, like I said, I like to poke them. You can't predict the Mother Nature, but they can tell you what it's doing right now. And that's why you tune in immediately to Bill Meck or Chris Bailey or whoever, you're local, the guy that you watch, because they can definitely tell you what it's doing right now and maybe save your life or maybe keep you from being injured. Oh, yeah, especially when it was coming to Lexington. I mean, I was just back and forth with those two. Actually, Abby had one on the iPad.
Starting point is 00:08:15 We had another on TV, and then Ron Hall, y'all on the phones. We had all three going. But, you know, watching Bill and Chris last night, they even seemed a little more scared than a weatherman. Usually there's something reporting. I think Bill even called his family on the air. Called his wife and daughter alive on the air, tell him to get shelter now. Not that I wasn't already a little worried, but, you know, seeing those guys on TV have a little fear and saying this is something we haven't ever seen before. You know, that added to it.
Starting point is 00:08:40 But they did a great job, too. Everyone I watched kept us all informed, and hopefully everyone took advice and stayed as safe as possible. Shannon, what's the one weather guy in Louisville, Weinstein, Weinberg, Weinberg, Mark Weinberg. He's the one that was kind of causing the weatherman beef for a while. Louisville used to have a weather guy. He wore a captain's hat, Captain Reed Yaden. You remember him?
Starting point is 00:09:01 Yeah, yeah, he wore a captain's hat while he would do the broadcast. Sometimes, like we'd be outside. He'd wear a little captain's hat. Captain Reed Yaden. I don't know the Louisville weather guys. I'm not just praising our weather guys in Lexington. The weather guys in Louisville, Bowling Green, Paducah. everybody last night.
Starting point is 00:09:18 Everybody's tuned in to watch them. But then, you know, people lose power. So that's when they say, man, that's why AM radio is so important. You got your battery-powered AM radio to keep up with weather reports. Yeah, and then, you know, at one point my TV was getting a little funky. They'd go to Twitter. They did a great job opening posting there and keeping everybody informed. Just everyone that doesn't, you know, I can't watch every community in every station.
Starting point is 00:09:41 Certainly here in Lexington, they were good, and I'm sure everywhere else they were on top of it to keep everyone as safe as possible. Well, the storm is not just affected last night. It's going to be the whole weekend. Like Keenlin canceled their opening day Friday tomorrow, and we're not going to open down until Sunday. Drew, I've never seen that happen. I've been around here for a long time. I've not known Keenland to postpone opening day ever.
Starting point is 00:10:05 And the Bluegrass Stakes is supposed to be Saturday. That's their Kentucky Derby. They've moved it to Tuesday. I mean, it just kind of really kind of emphasizes how bad the weather is in this area over the next couple days. It's like moving the Super Bowl around here. Yeah. You know, not that this is important as safety in the weather, but I thought all those people have probably made plans to be at Keenland this weekend. No one ever imagines Keenland could get postponed or moved, and now it's moved on to the to the weekdays, which would be unique. But I mean, that just shows what kind of
Starting point is 00:10:32 situation we're in around here. It's still coming. UK baseball is supposed to host Ole Miss this weekend, starting tonight. It's tonight at 7, tomorrow night at 6.30, and then Saturday at 2. It's a Thursday through Saturday series. You know, I don't know if they're going to get any of those games in. Any of them? I don't know what they're going to do. Yeah, I don't think they've made any announcements yet, but if you're moving Keenland and with everything we've got going on,
Starting point is 00:10:58 I would be surprised if we have baseball, Kentucky Proud Park. Maybe later in the weekend, I haven't looked that far ahead, but it's hard to imagine they'll get three games in with Ole Miss with the forecast we have still in front of us. If they do, I just hope they get out to a big lead early. That way Mingeon can stall. You can go maybe, you know, kick up. some dust, you know, throw some mud at the umpire and delay the game as long as possible
Starting point is 00:11:20 so they can win. You know, that's still getting a lot of play. But the thing is, Kentucky was up by five runs. I mean, it's not like it was a one-run game and then two outs and maybe going into the curfew time. Kentucky was up five. I have a little bit of scoop on that. Okay.
Starting point is 00:11:35 Not really scoop. I just learn more about the situation. We were kind of saying it's silly to have that curfew at 4.30 local time. I mean, I agree with Mnjohn taking advantage of the rule, but I thought 4.30, that seems early for a curfew. But in talking to people around the team, they still didn't get home until nearly three in the morning because there's not a direct college station to Lexington.
Starting point is 00:11:57 They had to bus two hours to Houston. They got diverted to Cincinnati, then they have to bus from Cincinnati to Lexington. So it makes a little more sense to that curfew as early as it is after, you know, I kind of thought that was ridiculous before, at least in that scenario. Now, if you're playing in Knoxville, okay that's different.
Starting point is 00:12:13 But they had, even having that game called early, UK barely got back in time. Kids slept a few hours or class the next day. So hearing a little bit more about just the logistics behind the scenes, that curfew rule makes a little more sense to me. Shannon, I'm sure they all got home and went straight to class. 80-clock class on Monday morning, too, right? Yeah, and that's also like why I don't understand
Starting point is 00:12:33 with the conference realignment. You got like, you know, Stanford, for instance, it's going to be traveling all the way across the country to play other teams like on a week night. You know, I think it's ridiculous. But, you know, at this point it is what it is. So just, you know, stay tuned. Social media posts will keep you updated if they're going to do play UK baseball tonight.
Starting point is 00:12:52 First game is at 7 o'clock. By the way, the UK women's gymnastics team opens up playing the NCAA tournament today at 1. We're going to have it on the big screen. Oh, nice. Kind of like, you know, maybe our own little UK gymnastics watch party, but we'll have it here at K.S. Barngrove, if you want to come and watch it, as they open up their own version of March Madness. You know, I used to attend,
Starting point is 00:13:12 Excite night every once in a while. That's there earlier in the season event. You know, we can do some exciting afternoon here at KSbar. Might have to have you get up and move the satellite around if there's any weather complications. Get on the roof. You've done that before. Well, if there's anything I'm an expert at, it's the pommel horse. Okay.
Starting point is 00:13:26 I can do it. I can talk about it. That's about it. Good luck to them. I did walk with the balance beam. I've walked on a balance beam before. Did you make it across? No, I don't think I did.
Starting point is 00:13:38 It was a little tough. But, yeah, we'll have that game on here at 1 o'clock if you want to come out and watch it. So we're going to take your calls. 859-2-8-7. We've got Liam in the studio today, Drew and Shannon. Liam's running the show today. That's right. I taught him well. He's a pro already. I mean, one day he's already running the show.
Starting point is 00:13:54 Ran the pre-show this morning. He ran the Leach Report. So he's an old, grizzled veteran in here with us today. You're getting pushed out, Shannon? Yeah, I'm good with that. We need to put Liam on the graphic up here, the cartoon next to us. So give us a call. 859-280-2287. and later in the show we're going to have a little surprise.
Starting point is 00:14:14 These guys don't even know what we're going to do yet. I don't even know yet. But you texted me show topics last night. But you don't know what one thing I'm doing. I didn't give you everything I'm doing. Just one little thing we're going to do later. Before you go, I will compliment you. I've worked with KSR.
Starting point is 00:14:27 I'm about to hit year 16. I'm an old man. I think only four times in my life have I been sent a text message with show topics. And it's been you every time and you did it again last night. So thank you. Not that I'm not prepared. I always try to, you know, be knowledgeable of everything going on. But you sent basically a script.
Starting point is 00:14:44 I feel ready to go today. So thank you. Well, Shannon, there's not a whole lot going on. So I'm trying to find some topics to try to give it to talk about today. Sometimes you just got to make up the show as you go. Make up the show as you go. I want people to know how much you care. Well, thank you.
Starting point is 00:14:57 You don't just show up and hit go and talk for two hours. Yes, he does. He does what he's not hosting. Trying to make him look good. When I'm not hosting, I do probably very little show prep other than looking at Twitter. Well, I'm proud of who yourself today. So we'll take your calls. 859, 2802-228.
Starting point is 00:15:13 So we want a lot of phone calls today. Ryan Drew and Shannon, we're right back here on Kentucky Sports Radio. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending, opinions are flying, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where Sports Slice comes in. I'm Timbo. Every episode, we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the plays, the controversies,
Starting point is 00:15:32 and the stories behind the headlines. We go straight to the source, the athlete themselves. Their locker room stories, their reactions, the stuff nobody gets to hear. here. The laughs, the drama, the triumphs, the moments that never make the highlight real. From viral moments to historic games, from buzzer beaters to controversial calls, we break it down, give you context, and ask the questions everybody wants answered. Sports Slice brings you closer to the action with stories told by the people who live them. Listen to Sports Slice on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more, follow Timbo Slices Life 12 in the
Starting point is 00:16:06 TikTok podcast network on TikTok. What's up guys? This is Clifford Taylor the 4th. And on My podcast, The Clifford Show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff. Like being an internet famous referee. We're in the middle of a game. This linebacker walks up to me, he goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Time out. Quarterback on office blue of 42.
Starting point is 00:16:31 Hey, rep, my mama want you to wave at her. What? Where's she at? Hey, Miss Parker. Listen to the Clippers Show on the. iHeart radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm CJ Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defying the odds.
Starting point is 00:16:53 Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows. Without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series
Starting point is 00:17:15 because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash would get that thing.
Starting point is 00:17:32 That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers while he got the ball, like, after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out. real quick. Ah, yeah. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball.
Starting point is 00:17:46 So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. This is Saigon, the story of my family and of the country that shaped us. The United States will not stand by and allow any power, however great, take over another country. From IHeart Podcast, Saigon. Please allow me to introduce Joseph Sherman. You don't think I'm serious about a free Vietnam? I should stop talking so much. I like hearing you talk.
Starting point is 00:18:14 One city, a divided country, and the war that tore America apart. This is for Vietnam. I've taken a hit from Japanese ground fire. Do you rate me? They're pouring petrol all over him. He's holding matches. I'm on a landmine. Four free time.
Starting point is 00:18:31 Let's get out. Freedom for Vietnam. Cigone, starring Kelly Marie Tran and Rob Benedict. Sting, here's madness. The world should hear about it. this there's a fire coming to this country and it's going to burn out everything listen to sagon on the i heart radio app apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts this is one of my favorite songs ever Liam by the way great job i didn't even tell you what song to pick look
Starting point is 00:18:58 in the pre-show he played incubus for billy and stone temple pilots for shannon i said dude you got to play some hooting the blowfish then today and he goes i saw hooting the blowfish last summer in Cincinnati. Liam. That's my guy. This is an awesome song. This is a feel-good song that was on the Friends soundtrack. They didn't even release in one of their albums.
Starting point is 00:19:19 It was on the Friends soundtrack. But I love this song. Well done. I'm sure you were actually at that same concert, right? In Cincinnati? I didn't get to go. You call yourself a fan. I think Josiah had a college visit or a camp that weekend or something.
Starting point is 00:19:33 I remember. I couldn't go. I had to play Dad that weekend. So, yeah, well, thanks for bringing that up, Shannon. 859-280-2-8-7. We have a whiskey thief call of the day. There you go. We did our sponsor.
Starting point is 00:19:44 Whiskey thief's all the song of the day. We love whiskey thief. One thing that's kind of gone under the radar because it's March Madness and we're up on the Final Four and we've been so hop on the transfer portal and everything that's happened since the postseason is the UK spring football season. They had kind of a media opportunity yesterday. Drew, you've been out there. What are you hearing or what are your thoughts so far about what's going on at UK Spring?
Starting point is 00:20:07 football. Yeah, I went out to the open practice yesterday. It started at 9 and, you know, I had to leave for the show. So when I was out there, there's a lot of stretching and getting loose. I missed the actual, you know, throwing it around and all the fun stuff. There's, there's highlights on KSR's YouTube right now. I went back and watch those. There's some good ones there. But early takeaways, just seeing Zach Calzada for the first time in person, I got to see him throw it a little bit. You know, it's hard to have a big takeaway when I'm out there just for a few minutes. But he and Bowley were looking good. There's some highlights. that YouTube video. The new receiver, Kendrick Law, I think he's going to pan out to be pretty well. My biggest takeaway, honestly, the new wide receivers coach, he's got a lot of juice. Does he? I took my coffee in there to wake up to go be ready to meet you guys. I mean, he was getting in people's rear ends using language I can't say on radio early, and he might have been the loudest coach on the field, as best as I could tell.
Starting point is 00:21:01 I'm excited about him because that's a room that had some culture issues. and what I've seen in 30 minutes of him talking to those guys, or yelling at those guys. I mean, he's not going to put up with any funny business. I mean, that dude was strictly business, and it was fun watching him just coached them up, even though they were still just kind of getting into practice there. As far as groups, Shannon,
Starting point is 00:21:20 everybody so far seems to be praising the offensive line. I mean, I heard this morning on the Leach Report. Justin Rowland, I think we're talking about the offensive line. Other guys who've gone to practice have been praising the offensive line. I mean, if there is one area that I think that needed, improvement and that looks like it has been improved, it's got to be the offensive line. It all starts there. How many times did we have to say after the game? Well, you know, if our quarterback could stay vertical, we would have had a chance to win that game. So I think it all
Starting point is 00:21:46 starts with that offensive line. And, you know, I hope that there's going to be some excitement build for this team. I feel like, though, it's going to be, let's wait and see what we got before we get too excited, you know. I feel like we've gotten our hopes up the last few years. And yeah, this may be a show me season. You know, let's see what you got. And then, you know, the fan base will get excited based on what we see on the field. Every year there's a dude, because there's so many new pieces these days. You go to that first practice, and there's like a, who the hell is that guy? Shias Pete, I think I'm pronouncing that right.
Starting point is 00:22:16 He's the offensive lineman from New Mexico State. He is a giant. Is he? Yeah, he was really good there. He was one of the top targets in the portal for an offensive line. Again, you know, I'm just there. They're just hitting the sleds and getting loose in the little bit of time I was there. But that dude is a giant.
Starting point is 00:22:31 He's listed at 6-8, 3, 22. He's going to be a big part of that line. Jagger was still out there. He's going to be part of the starting rotation. He's playing center right now just because the center from Western Kentucky that transferred in is maybe battling some injuries or something right now. So the Western Kentucky kid's probably going to be the center, although Jagger's filling, excuse me, filling in at the moment. Yeah, Evan Wibberley, I believe is the offensive lineman from Western. I was surprised at least when I was there getting started, Jason Patterson, was.
Starting point is 00:23:03 getting more of the running back one touches. Didn't really see that coming. Well, that's been the other, I think, offensive line and running back. Those have been the two groups that have getting the most attention. Patterson was kind of just used sparingly at times last year. Then Wilcox kind of
Starting point is 00:23:19 came in and kind of took a lot of his reps. But DJ Miller and Jason Patterson are the two running backs. I think they're running one and two right now. I have a Wilcox take. Okay. There's a picture going around. I don't know if he's tying his shoes again.
Starting point is 00:23:36 No. We got to get those shoes tied. Might have been just the beginning. Might have gotten him laced up before they started getting into some actual hitting each other and running some stuff. But early on, I think we might have another shoe string problem. The dude's good. I mean, we saw it. He's got flash so he could be really good.
Starting point is 00:23:52 But, man, you've got to keep your shoes on. You're not going to be able to play. And I think one time Stoops got so frustrated with him last year about it, he benched him. Took him out of the game and didn't put him back in? Remember, it happened as soon as he. As soon as he got called out for it. That's right. Then it happened again.
Starting point is 00:24:07 Macklin was out there, one of the few people I recognized right away. He was doing some, catching some punts when I was out there. They were just getting into throwing the ball as I left. Like I said, Kendrick Law made a few impressive catches and moves that I think gives him a little potential. But it's all so early to know. Hopefully they do some kind of open spring practice game. I'm not heard anything. They're not announcing anything.
Starting point is 00:24:29 Where everybody can get out there, at least give the media more looks at them, because there's still a lot of new pieces to learn. A couple Kentucky guys, local guys, I guess, are kind of looking good so far in spring practice. Willie Rodriguez from Covington Catholic, you know, had a couple bright spots during the season last year, but I guess he's really stepped up this season already. Yeah, and he was already gigantic.
Starting point is 00:24:48 I remember when he came to KS. Bar on his visit as a high school, I'm like, that guy's in high school? Yeah. It was like a grown-ass man. Yeah, he's even gotten more grown. You know, every year we say it's the tight-ins year, and they get these good recruits, and then the offense just doesn't get them to as much to be like.
Starting point is 00:25:04 Last year they had to do more blocking than I think they wanted to do. I'm trying to temper tight-in expectations, but Willie Rodriguez does look the part. And he made some huge plays as a freshman last year. The other Kentucky kid that kind of turned some heads is Montaven-Quizzenberry, the true freshman from Boyle County. You know, the wide receiver room kind of got thin there a little bit, but he may be a guy to step in and fill in that slot role that they like to use a lot.
Starting point is 00:25:28 We know he's obviously very talented. I've seen him play a lot, so he's already opening to my eyes. Yeah, you saw him in high school more than I did. I know he was, I think he was only a three-star wasn't as highly recruited as maybe his numbers suggest. You think that sounds like it's going to translate over to college already? I think he's a perfect for that slot that they like to use, you know? We've seen guys just kind of flourish in that slot position. Lynn Bowden, you know, he kind of made it famous worm from that.
Starting point is 00:25:54 I think Quisembert could be that kind of guy. And they did some interviews. Calzada spoke yesterday. We're getting that time. You know, we're starting to get two of those a week, I'd say. We're putting those up on KSR's YouTube. It's clear they're not, you know, Stoops even said to us, you know, they're not making headlines.
Starting point is 00:26:10 They're staying a little more quiet than they usually are. Even with Calzada, it was a lot of just, he's well media trained. Wasn't giving you a whole lot this early in the game. But that's a guy to play a lot of football. Who knows how it'll turn out here. But he's very experienced, and from what I could tell, it looked like he was a pretty good leader early on in the day. And I don't think Cutter Bowley is just going to hand it over to him.
Starting point is 00:26:29 No, no. Cutter wants to be the starter too. Yeah, I think Cutter will, I mean, it is a competition. I think Cutter will be right there with him. Carter looked good out there best as I could tell. But again, I was in and out yesterday. I'm hoping we get more opportunities like that. I should just skip the show and watch more football
Starting point is 00:26:44 because it was exciting to be out there. It was a good morning for the weather hit and just close the book on basketball and football, spring football leases right here in front of us. Shannon, did you see enough of Cutter Bowley to think he could be the guy at some point here or even this season? Not really. I feel like he got put in the game in situations a lot of times that weren't really fair for him, you know. But, I mean, I think he's probably got the potential.
Starting point is 00:27:09 But I just, you know, did I really see enough of them last year? No, not for me. What about you? I think he's got the talent. He just needs some more experience. You're right. It wasn't fair the way they threw him into a couple of those positions last year. Was it Florida that he went into whenever?
Starting point is 00:27:26 Yeah. That was a bad situation to come into. They just stood up off the bench. I didn't think he was warming up. They were like, Cutter. You're in. You're in. Like, what?
Starting point is 00:27:35 You know, get a little bit of a warning? I think he's got the talent to definitely be the guy at some point, whether he's ready right now or not. Maybe he needs another little, some more seasoning. I don't know. The only other name I want to throw out there, I ask for a new name that we don't know that people should pay attention to defensive men, Marcus Grace from South Dakota. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:53 I was going to bring him up. I guess he must be a man child. The defensive line looks like you're being good. good shape. He was another big commitment when they got him. Lots of people wanted him out of the portal. He and Gusta, Gusta Gusta, I re-pronounce it. Another big portal get. And then Josiah Hayes is back. He had a bad injury last year. It can be a big piece. So even though you lose Dion, I think the defensive line can be in good shape. They're going to have to be. I mean, they lost everybody pretty much, except for Josiah Hayes. So that was a definite position of need. The defensive line and offensive line
Starting point is 00:28:25 a position of need that seems like on paper they filled those spots already yeah and like said about the practice i hope you know we need some excitement in this season i think we all a lot of people have the same mentality around kentucky football next year even if you think they'll be better that schedule is brutal next fall so hope they can open up and get more glimpse at them so it just drum up as much spring excitement as they can so there's your spring football update we haven't talked much about it we did a whole segment on it right there so i should get you in need we'll come back we'll take your calls 859 2802-2-287 This is Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Starting point is 00:28:59 Now here's Matt Jones. All right, welcome back. Ryan, Drew and Shannon, as Matt is off, we think, probably in Amsterdam now for his fellowship. He was very excited about it. And I understandably so. It's kind of an exclusive select fraternity of he's in. They went to Birmingham. They've been in, was it Vale?
Starting point is 00:29:17 It was in Colorado? Was it Vale? Love me some Vale. And now they're in Amsterdam. So we're proud of him getting to do something like that. Kind of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. So he'll be back, I believe, on Monday the 21st. Gotcha.
Starting point is 00:29:29 Is his day back? Is this the secret society that won't let him talk about the Denver airport and all the conspiracies in America? Where he goes and they try to silence people like me? Yeah, maybe they're trying to uncover the Denver airport. You remember when we were in Denver, Max and I kept wanting to talk about it. Matt Wooden, I think it's part of this fellowship. I think they're trying to use him with these lavish trips to silence people like me who want answers. You got all next week to break it down.
Starting point is 00:29:53 You know, there's, I think, a lot of people out there that want to hear Drew Franklin's conspiracy theories. So maybe you take a day. It's on the list. We're going to find out what's under the pyramids next week. Are you ready for Drew Paloosa, Drew Week? I mean, I've got a lot of topics in mind. I've had a lot of people tell me, don't overdo it with guests. I'm going to have some guests.
Starting point is 00:30:12 I'm waiting to get some yeses and knows. But I've written a lot of, I've done a lot of show prep. I'm on my best Ryan Lemon of potential topics. There's two days where it's mostly going to be just me and Billy, and he will have just done the pre-show, so he might be a little winded, so we're going to have to really lean into some stuff, like conspiracy theories.
Starting point is 00:30:28 One person wants me to actually go back to my old apartment and interview who lives there now to see if the ghost is so there. Maybe a remote from a mom in the apartment. We'll see, but got a lot of things in the works. Shannon, I got a couple people tell me that Captain Reed Yaden is still doing weather on WHAS. Okay, yeah. I knew he was still around.
Starting point is 00:30:46 I didn't know if he was working full-time, maybe a little part-time gig on the weekends. I'll see him on in there every now and then. I don't see the captain hat, though. Well, he wears the captain hat sometimes. Also, Shannon, apparently Liam's been keeping a secret. What's up? He was also this past season, the voice of the Danville admirals.
Starting point is 00:31:05 Is that true, Liam? Yes. Play-by-play voice of the Danville admirals. Listen, I'm a big Liam fan. He was asking me about Patty's settlement in Grand Rivers during the break. Got me craving West Kentucky pork chocolate. flour pot bread and strawberry butter you all know what that's all about we have been to that i've been there one time i think i took you one time the pork chop was like three inches thick oh yeah and the strawberry
Starting point is 00:31:29 butter on the rolls was to die for the bread comes out in that flour pot and didn't it burn down it's yeah they're back though right liam i think they're good that was a while ago yeah they rebuilt it it's way nicer now they rebuilt it's nicer new and improved patties i'm like i'm liking i'm like a leum he's got a good attitude 859 2802 2802287 let's get our first caller who we got leum johnny johnny go ahead johnny Hey, guys. I just wanted to, I know we don't want to spend all week talking about the same topic, but I just wanted to touch on the Cassidy Road situation a little bit.
Starting point is 00:32:04 I might be in the mind of worry. I'm completely fine with what Coach Brooks did. It's his team. It's his decision to make. There's another young lady on the team that had a similar conversation with Coach Brooks. Nobody seems to be upset about Sinaius Heiler being asked to transfer. and nobody was upset when Coach Cal asked Kevin Galloway to transfer either whenever he took the job. So I just think it's very hypocritical and nobody deserves a spot on a team because of where they were born or where they're from.
Starting point is 00:32:36 I was also wondering. I'm sorry, go ahead, Ryan. No, go ahead. We'll get your other point in and then we'll move on. I was also wondering if y'all heard any more news about the transfer portal specifically about the accident. Baron Pierre Jr. And then the two guys Bracken up a little bit, yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:59 Okay, we'll get to the transfer portal maybe next segment. We've got some of them and some news. He did name the two big names best I could tell. Yeah. The Cassidy Roll thing is not going away. I think Matt was surprised yesterday when I told him, man, that's what people are talking around still about. Here it is Thursday, and we're still talking about it.
Starting point is 00:33:16 The team just got beat. It's transfer portal season, and our first call is still about Cassidy Row. And I think he's right, the caller's right, and like it shouldn't matter where she's from. But in this instance, it seems to matter where she's from. She's from eastern Kentucky. She's going to be a senior.
Starting point is 00:33:33 She was a cheerleader, a glue that kind of held everybody together when they first started to form the team. There's a lot going on to it, but I think, I don't know why, and I can't explain it, but I think it does matter in this instance where she's from. I wonder if Kenny knew how this was going to blow. up when he made the decision to ask her to transfer or whatever actually happened behind the scenes. Because you're right.
Starting point is 00:33:56 It's all anyone wants to talk about it. I know it. Or there's the group of people that are like, please stop talking about it because it's been talked about it so much. But it is, well, all that's going on, you know, even though we're not in it, NCAA Turner, it's about to rant back up with the Final Four. We've been talking spring football. UK baseball is going. It is just Cassie Row, Cassie Row, Cassie Row, Cassie Row.
Starting point is 00:34:15 He's kind of right, though, about it happens. Like, Cal ran off an entire roster. It does. It happens. Some people tell you he had to be talked into keeping the ones he kept. He wanted a completely clean slate, and that would have included, you know, who was on that team? I guess Darius would have been a Kentucky guy. Didn't.
Starting point is 00:34:30 Was Landon Sloan? Was he, did he get cut when Cal got here? I think he did. You know, it unfortunately happens. I think it's just so much broader with Cassidy because she committed when she was 14 years old. I mean, it feels like she's been a part of that program. for a decade now. And her dad being so active on Twitter,
Starting point is 00:34:50 it's very clear they've been bleeding blue their whole lives. And being from the area she's in, I just think that's adding to it so much. Shannon, again, like I said, first call, here it is Thursday, and it's still a hot button topic on this show. I'm sure it's going to linger for a while,
Starting point is 00:35:04 and fans will remember that. But how do you make that go away? You just keep winning. Now, if they start the season off and they start struggling, I think that's going to be a topic that's going to be brought back up again. And, you know, I get it.
Starting point is 00:35:20 But at the same time, I also understand Kentuckyans, we hold our own in higher regard than other players, whether or not that's what we should do or not. I think that's natural. You know, somebody from Kentucky, we want to pull for that person. We want to see them succeed. But if you're Kenny Brooks, to me, in my opinion, at the end of the day, his responsibility is put together the roster with the best players that he possibly can,
Starting point is 00:35:43 regardless of where they're from. Now, Alan Cutler, my buddy, had Lonnie Rowe on, Cassidy's dad, and Alan asked him, if Kenny Brooks was sitting here across the table, what would you say to him? And Lonnie Rowe basically said something like, I would ask him, don't you have a heart? Where's your heart at? I think he said I'd pray for him. I'd pray for him. Yes, he did. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:03 I caught part of that interview. I mean, that added to it. Lonnie wasn't holding back. If anyone was wondering if this was blown out of the proportion and maybe something different happened behind the scenes, him being so. upset suggests that what we're hearing is what happened. What will happen though if Kenny goes out and gets this portal class that's amazing and
Starting point is 00:36:22 fills every seat with just these players that are experienced and put up big numbers. Will people go, well okay, I mean look at that Holly just got. We get it. Right now, obviously we don't know. Now if he goes and gets three and then there's four spots he didn't fill, that's going to look terrible, but it would be really hard to judge until we know what he brings in
Starting point is 00:36:38 and how that roster shapes out. See, I've got, like people are texting me now on my A-Vision Glass text machine. This is the I'm just going to read it. So would you be okay if the men's team had a chance at the number one point guard in the portal, but we could not get him because Pope wanted to let Kerr stay on the team? Well, Kerr's not from Kentucky. You mean like Travis Perry or Noah?
Starting point is 00:36:59 That would be a better example of Travis Perry. A junior year, Travis Perry? I mean, it was stink. I love Travis Perry. He's probably been to patties and had the pork chop and fired off bread too. But these guys are paid to do a job, and they'll get fired quickly if they're not. you know, up to the standard. So I understand that they've got to go out and get the best they can,
Starting point is 00:37:18 even if it hurts some feelings. Let's get up one more call for we go to a break. Who we got, Liam? Mickey. Mickey. Mickey. Go ahead, Mickey. Oh, my God, Drew. How are you doing?
Starting point is 00:37:32 Hey, I just wanted to say this real quick. I completely understand what Coach Brooks has done. I don't necessarily agree with it. Because, I mean, guys, she was the first player off the bitch when the game was on the line in the NCAA tournament because she could hit free. throws and handle the ball. So she's not a non-contributor.
Starting point is 00:37:53 But I understand where he's coming from, but it is a place that we've gotten to that I don't particularly care for. Just my thoughts, guys. I'll hang out and listen. There we go. Two calls, both about Cassidy Row. That's why I think Matt was really surprised when I told him yesterday, man, that's still what people were talking about around town. It's not
Starting point is 00:38:10 necessarily the transfer portal. It's that. Next week, I'll do five days of Cassidy Row while you are away. I'll keep it going. See how long we can make it last. We do want to give a get well shout out to our friend Anne from Estill County. Anne may be our oldest listener. I believe she's over 100 years old, Shannon. I believe we found out a couple years ago she was 100.
Starting point is 00:38:33 She listens every single day. She's on the disabled list right now, so we need to give her a big shout out. Get well wishes, Ann, and hopefully we'll hear from you again soon. So there you go, Ann from Estill County. All right, well, take our break, come back, go back to the phone lines, 859-280-2287, Ryan, Drew, and Shannon, this is Kentucky Sports Radio. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind.
Starting point is 00:38:55 Highlights are trending, opinions are flying, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where Sports Slice comes in. I'm Timbo. Every episode, we're cutting through the noise. Breaking down the plays, the controversies, and the stories behind the headlines. We go straight to the source, the athlete themselves. Their locker room stories, their reactions, the stuff nobody gets to hear. The laughs, the drama, the triumphs, the moments that never make the...
Starting point is 00:39:18 highlight reel. From viral moments to historic games, from buzzer beaters to controversial calls, we break it down, give you context, and ask the questions everybody wants answered. SportsSlice brings you closer to the action with stories told by the people who live them. Listen to Sports Slice on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more, follow Timbo Sliced Life 12 in the TikTok podcast network on TikTok. What's up guys? This is Clivert Taylor the 4th. And on my podcast, The Cliverts show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff. like being an internet famous referee.
Starting point is 00:39:51 We're in the middle of a game. This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me, he goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Quarterback on office blue 42. Hey, rec, my mama want you to wave at her. What? Where's she at?
Starting point is 00:40:12 Hey, Miss Parker. Listen to the Cliverts show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano and our podcast Point Game is about defying the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
Starting point is 00:40:35 His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows. Without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense.
Starting point is 00:40:59 And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers, why he got the ball. Like, you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. This is Saigon, the story of my family and of the country that shaped us.
Starting point is 00:41:30 The United States will not stand by and allow any power, however great, take over another country. From IHeart Podcast, Saigon. Please allow me to introduce Joseph Sherman. You don't think I'm serious about a free Vietnam? I should stop talking so much. I like hearing you talk. One city, a divided country. and the war that tore America apart.
Starting point is 00:41:52 This is for Vietnam. I've taken a hit from Japanese ground fire. They're pouring petrol all over him. He's holding matches. I'm on a landmine. For free time. Let's get out. Freedom for Vietnam.
Starting point is 00:42:07 Run! Saigon, starring Kelly Marie Tran and Rob Benedict. Sting, here's madness. The world should hear about this. There's a fire coming to this country, and it's going to burn out everything. Listen to Saigon on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. There we go.
Starting point is 00:42:31 Welcome back, Ryan Drew and Shannon on Kentucky Sports Radio. We're live at KS. Bar and Grill. Shannon's over in Louisville. We've got a guy sitting here from Utah. Hunter. I recognize him as soon as he walked in. We did our show. You remember, yeah, hey Hunter.
Starting point is 00:42:47 Remember, Shane, we did our show at Salt Lake City. He was there, right? At a hotel, right? at a hotel lobby. Downtown. They were your girlfriend. That's right. And he just walks in this morning, like, what are you doing here?
Starting point is 00:43:00 Long way from home. That's a long way from Utah. When he was in Utah, he was a long way from home. You're from eastern Kentucky originally, right? But he said on the way here he got stuck in a snowstorm. What state was that in? In Wyoming. Had to spend five hours at a gas station because they closed the interstate.
Starting point is 00:43:17 Where, you drove from Utah? Oh, my goodness. Who would drive all the way from Utah to Kentucky? you Ryan that's insane only idiots and then last night the storms he got stuck in Illinois dude fly next time still made it here to see us still made it so you got family Paducah you're gonna be able to see them before you get it go home Prestonsburg Prestonsburg I'm sorry wrong into the state sorry so thank you Hunter thank you for coming out good to see Hunter next time we drive to Salt Lake City we'll be sure to link up
Starting point is 00:43:47 again 859-2802287 that's our phone number okay before we get the phone we'll talk a little transfer portal update. Drew, any news that you're hearing rumbling? Because there's really been no firm commitments outside of Cam Williams. He's been the only guy that verbally said he's coming. It sounds like Pope was on the move yesterday. We're all hunkered down here in Lexington, except Hunter driving around in it to get here. But it sounds like Pope was in the sky.
Starting point is 00:44:13 He was spotted in Dallas at the airport. The speculation is he was in Dallas to meet Jason Pierre Jr. That's the new name we need to know. Add it to your list of the other 50 names we've needed to know. But he was, I think, fourth in the country in scoring last year at Jacksonville State, like a 6-5 guard. He plays off the ball. I don't know how that would work. Maybe you try to put him at point here.
Starting point is 00:44:35 But he got like 21 points a game, shot nearly 40 percent from three. And the NIT he scored 30. He had games of like 30, 34, 36 in the regular season. He seems to be the latest name on the portal board. And Pope was spotted in doubt. in the belief is that he was down there recruiting him. I guess he was on a visit to SMU, which makes me wonder, did we just crash the SMU visit?
Starting point is 00:45:00 After he left campus, you're waiting at McDonald's across the street? It's like, okay, they paid for your hotel. Yeah, we'll meet you in the lobby and talk about another school. But the other one that we're still looking at Yaxel Lindenburg. Love me some Yaxel, the UAB guy, big man. He's kind of a fringe, probably early second round projection right now in the NBA, probably going to come back to college. The numbers that are being whispered about what he wants.
Starting point is 00:45:21 are just silly. I'm kind of mad. I think all this is inflated, but people online are saying he could get up to $4 million. You go from second round projection to stay in school for $4 million. I know what I'm doing. Heck, yeah. Again, I have some doubts about it being that high,
Starting point is 00:45:35 but that's what's being said. But he's probably the big fish that everybody would want the most. He's one of the top targets right now in the country. And Pope might have met with him, too. But they're tracking Pope's flame. Plain. It's up in Minneapolis, I guess, maybe Yaxil's agent. is up there, so maybe he was just meeting the agent.
Starting point is 00:45:53 Maybe Yaxel was there, but Pope, man, he's just, he's back at it. As we saw last April, Mayish, when he first got the job, every day, it was where's Pope today. He's back on his grind, chasing everybody around this year, too. This Yaxel could be the best guy in the portal overall. Could be one of the top five players in the portal. Yeah, there's talk of Alabama's all over him, Arkansas. I mean, you name it, they want Yaxel. He's a double, double guy.
Starting point is 00:46:19 I mean, all these guys have highlights. I usually tune in the highlight for a couple minutes. I watch the whole like 15-minute Yaxil highlight. He's a fun player that we'd love to have. He's from UAB, and Trilly Donovan, I guess, has already posted. He thinks Alabama is going to get it. You know, he drops random memes, things like that. I think he did a Bama meme last night.
Starting point is 00:46:39 He was also wrong on. Magoon. Yeah, so everybody's not calling you out here, but everybody's been a little thrown off. Oh, yeah. Because it could just change one phone call. One booster calls a coach and says, I want that guy. Here's the money you didn't have.
Starting point is 00:46:53 And that phone completely changed everything. But Yaxel, he averaged like 18 and 12 at UAB. He'll be in the NBA if he doesn't stick around this year or testing the water. Certainly next year, and he'd be a great fit at UK where they certainly need a lot of forwards. I think it's safe to say Kentucky's in really good shape with Yaks. I think that's safe to say. How many eyeball emojis are you putting next to it? I would have posted it last night, but after what happened with Magoon, you know, you just,
Starting point is 00:47:19 But like you said, they could be in really good position with him, and he decides to go to Alabama or he decides to go to the NBA. Michigan's also in there. Michigan's been a real thorn in our side. Michigan's throwing around more money than he wants to be suggested or expected this year. Dusty May up there, but they're in the mix for him too. Well, you're not going to be able to blame Pope for a lack of effort because he's definitely doing everything he can to get the top players, and they're going all out on yaks. Yeah, and Jason Pierre Jr., who's just kind of a murray. in the last couple days.
Starting point is 00:47:50 Pope visited with him last night. Yeah. It's weird because I don't know if Pope would try to turn him into a point guard. He played off the ball mostly at Jacksonville State. Isn't that Harper? Is he still down there? Ray Harper? He's at the Jacksonville State that plays E.K.U.
Starting point is 00:48:04 Yeah, he's still the coach there. I guess he's a Ray Harper. Millenberg County. Bremen. Yeah, he played off the ball there. I don't know if you tried to turn him to a point guard here. He's a little turnover prone, but maybe Pope could dial him in. But as a score, he is electric.
Starting point is 00:48:16 Like I said, it was one of the tops in the entire country. I think the news will die down now for the next several days because the transfer portal dead period started today. I believe it was today. So coaches can't have any visits. They can still communicate with them, I think, on social media or whatever, but they can't have any face-to-face visits, whatever, during the dead period, which picks back up probably next Tuesday. So I think the Pope was so aggressive earlier.
Starting point is 00:48:40 Yes, why he was aggressive last night flying around everywhere. Go ahead after his coaches show, even though it didn't pan out with, or who did he visit Monday? This is the one you reported. I'm getting my portal. Remember, he did the conference? coach a show then took off to Chicago? Yes. My brain is mush with these portal targets.
Starting point is 00:48:53 That was Yax. Yeah, that was that? Meet with Yax Monday. Yeah. And he met with Yax's agent last night. Yeah, so Pope's doing as best as he can in this window. And it sounds like just national people when they're chombing in. It seems like Kentucky has the money for all these.
Starting point is 00:49:07 Sounds like Kentucky's in a good place financially. We just got closed the deal on some of them. So don't expect any news for a couple days unless somebody, a recruit, decides to go ahead and commit that maybe is met with some people. but I think it'll die down. Let's get one quick call before we go to a break. I'm saying Jason, it's Jaron Pierre, by the way.
Starting point is 00:49:23 Jaron Pierre, I know he met with him last night. Bill. Who we got, Liam? Who's this? Bill, go ahead, Bill, real quick. On this NIL stuff, let's say we give a player a million dollars to come to Kentucky. Do they have to do anything?
Starting point is 00:49:43 Scores so many points or get so many rebounds? Or do we just hand them the money and hope they show up. That's my question. That's it. That's it, Bill. Appreciate the phone call. We had a couple football players that were getting big paycheck that didn't even hardly play.
Starting point is 00:50:00 That's it. You got to give it to them, no matter what they do on the court on the field. We've had other schools give big money to guys that just didn't produce during the season last year. Yeah, I'm for players getting their money, but I thought the concept was you do a Clark's Pumping Shop commercial,
Starting point is 00:50:16 get a little money. You wear a T-shirt or sell a T-shirt, you get a little money. It is just absolutely. how much can we pay you to come play here right now. And right now there's no contracts or agreements. They just come to school and get their bag. I mean, even with Kerr, even though he was injured, you know, I can't make a guy to play when he's hurt.
Starting point is 00:50:33 But, you know, Kerr got his money. Got his money. It's not like they have to check. Didn't even want to play, what, two, three games? Yeah, you don't have to check certain guidelines like you would have pro contract to get your bonuses. It's just, hey, here's a bunch of money. Come to this school.

Starting point is 00:53:00 Your 20s can be so exciting, but they can also be really overwhelming, confusing, and honestly, just kind of lonely. May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and the psychology of your 20s is breaking down the science behind the biggest roadblocks we face. I was six years into my career, the 80-hour weeks, and just the first one in the first one in, the last one out and I ended up burning out. There was a large chunk of my 20s that I like was just so wanting to like be out of that phase out of my skin and I just like really regret not living in the present more. You don't need to have everything figured out right now. You just need to understand yourself a little bit better. Listen to the psychology of your 20s on the IHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.
