Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

Your 20s can be so exciting, but they can also be really overwhelming, confusing, and honestly, just kind of lonely.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and the psychology of your 20s is breaking down the science behind the biggest roadblocks we face.
I was six years into my career, the 80-hour weeks and just the first one in, the last one out, and I ended up burning out.
There was a large chunk of my 20s that I like was just so wanting to like be out of that phase out of my skin.
And I just like really regret not living in the present more.
You don't need to have everything figured out right now.
You just need to understand yourself a little bit better.

Hey, I'm Deanna Maria Riva.
And on my new podcast, How Hard Can It Be?
I call on my Gen X squad from Ohio to Hollywood as we navigate midlife's most fantastic BS.
Unfiltered conversations from night sweats to futas to scheduling sex.
Wait, what sex?
Is it just me or does every woman my age want to look at Pinterest instead of having sex sometimes?
They say we can't polish a turn, but we're sure going to try.
So let's get blunt with laughs, tears, or tears of laughter.

Welcome to Hour 2 of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones.
All right, welcome back. Hour number two, Kentucky Sports Radio.
Matt Jones in Amsterdam and joined his, I believe,
with the third goal round of his fellowship.
They've still got a couple, maybe a year and a half left ago.
Kind of just a great experience he's got,
so he'll be back on Monday the 21st.
So it's Ryan, Drew, and Shannon here for a couple days,
and the next week is Drew Palooza Week.
So be sure to tune into that.
Call Drew with all your crazy questions.
He's ready for him.
I'm ready.
Got some fun topics.
Didn't the caller just suggest,
Drew Palooza? It's kind of just stuck on. Is that what we're going on?
Drew Paloosa. We got to go with that.
What about Drew uninterrupted?
Well, I like that too. I like that too.
Mario likes it. Is it smooth?
We can go Drew Paloosa, though.
Drew Palooza feels like a big event. I feel like I can't live up to the expectations of a Paloza.
I do need to talk to you and Shannon about your Atlanta Braves.
Oh my goodness. Do we have to?
Now, next topic, please.
Yeah. Shannon.
Shannon. O and 7.
They stink.
They stink right now.
The good thing is we got 155.
We're about to go 155 and 7 on the season.
Jokes on you, Ryan, and your Cardinals,
which I haven't paid any attention to what they're even doing.
But yeah, the Braves, they got to figure it out quick.
I mean, they were up last night, 5 to 3.
They blow the lead, end up losing in the bottom of the 9th.
I have no idea when they're going to win their first game.
But it needs to be soon.
True.
Yeah, I'm enjoying my night as best I can watching Ryan Hall.
all.
I figured the Braves were going to lose before the game.
Then they went up early.
I'm feeling good, but not keeping a close eye on it.
And then the Shohei, the clip just goes everywhere.
Yeah, that's talking about from one, the highs and lows of baseball, the Braves lose their seventh in a row,
and Soho Tani hits a walk-off home run on his own bobblehead night.
Yeah, not ideal, not ideal circumstances for us.
I think we were up 5-0 early in the game.
like I said it's the Dodgers I expected to not win but you got a little false hope early in the game and to lose like that just add it to the list of Braves disappointments now 0 and 7 probably be 0 and 8 maybe 0 and 12 0 and 20 who cares we what's the next sport I can move on to
basketball ended I got spring football usually and Shannon and I were both excited about this year for the Braves lots of people where I think they had like the second best odds in the NL for the world series and it's just not starting well has already been not
The good thing is we've got the Marlins coming up,
and we're going to sweep the Marlins.
So we'll be three and seven then.
Yes, the Marlins.
Are we finally at home?
I feel like every game's been away.
Yeah, every game has been on the road.
There's a home opener.
We'll get started.
That's right.
Now there's a guy for the Boston Red Sox who's having a baddest season as the Atlanta Braes.
Raphael Devers.
Have you heard about him yet?
I have not.
But tell me about someone else.
He started the season, Shannon, O for 19, with 15 strikeouts.
That's pretty bad.
I think I could do that.
Tony Gwyn had 15 strikeouts in one season.
This guy has 15 strikeouts in his first 19 at bat.
Now, apparently he got like two hits last night.
I was all ready to just rip on him today.
But he got two hits last night to break out of the slum.
But he still has 15 strikeouts to start the season.
Wait a minute.
I'm trying to read.
Does he get paid what I'm seeing here right here?
It looks like he has like a $300 million contract.
Oh, my goodness.
That can't be right, can it?
Well, the salaries are incredible anyways.
I wouldn't be shocked.
But I'll take a fraction of that to strike out every time of a bet.
I'm actually good at striking out.
I would do that for cheap if that's all they need.
Yeah, we can say the Red Sox's a lot of money.
Think about that.
But Drew and I both on there.
You too, Ryan.
All three of us.
You get three players for the price of, well, a fraction of the price of one.
And we can strike out.
And could do it worse than what they're doing right now.
I can lay down a bunt, maybe.
So baseball is just being cruel to me.
After Ellie had his big night a few nights ago with his torpedo bet,
I got on Draft Kings, Crown is yours,
and I bet some L.A. prop bets, and then he went 0 for four,
almost cleaned out of my account with that one.
It's just, you know, Kentucky baseball won at A&M,
but their start hadn't been great.
I just feel like the baseball season is going to be a pain.
And before we move on, I think I want to talk to you about,
we had a big topic about the shortage of bees,
the bee population is dying out.
Our friend Daryl, Daryl from,
Eastern Kentucky.
Belfrey, Belfrey, Darrell.
Yep.
Called me yesterday. And he said
he's got one, he knows one reason why
that is
adding to the bee population
dying out.
I want you and Shannon to tell me if you believe
in this or not. He said it's a thing
in eastern Kentucky that the
bees are so bad
you put a bowl of water on your porch,
you put a wooden spoon over it,
and you put a piece of meat
in the spoon,
and then you put dishwashing liquid in the water.
So I don't know.
I got a picture this.
So you got a bowl of dishwater, basically.
A wood and dishwasher.
A wooden spoon and meat.
And the bees come down and get, I guess, die in the soap water.
Well, bees like meat?
I thought bees were like, I didn't know they ate meat.
I don't know.
Daryl said you can kill like a thousand bees a day.
Bees flying around everywhere.
I'm having a hard time picture.
this or why anyone would even do it.
But if it works, I would do it.
And apparently everybody, even like gas
stations in Easter Kentucky, have this bowl
of water with a wooden spoon on it
with a piece of meat on the spoon.
You think we can just go to East
Kentucky and drive around, and we're just going to see a bunch of soap
waters with a wooden spoon. If they've got a bunch of
bees, I'd say we'd probably see one.
You know, folks like to sit on their porch in
Eastern Kentucky. Watch the traffic go by.
Yeah, okay. That makes sense.
Okay, you will. You don't want bees bothering you
when you're sitting on your porch.
Boom.
bowl of dishwasher,
wooden spoon, and some meat.
If you had said that without a source,
I would have thought you're crazy.
But I believe Darrell,
and he knows the Easter Kentucky tricks.
I'm doing a little Googling over here.
It says most bees are herbivores,
which I believe that means they eat like plants and stuff.
But it says there are a few species,
vulture bees and carrion bees,
that have evolved to feed on meat,
particularly dead animal carcasses.
So maybe you're just getting those types of,
of bees. But the other bees, I don't
think they would want meat.
So I don't know. I don't know about this.
I found a website here. I did some Googling too.
There's actually a picture. Someone has a bowl
with a slice of turkey,
like sandwich meat. And a wooden spoon?
It's on like a skewer.
There you go. That's it. It says it works.
So, okay, what does the wooden spoon do?
It just holds the meat
over the water.
I guess when they come down to check out the meat, they get out of the
dishwater and they drown, they die.
They get poisoned.
Because the wooden spoon traps them in there, right?
I got to say, Sierra foothillgarden.com has a very thorough how-to with photos.
That looks...
That's it.
The bees fill up your bowl.
I'm still confused.
So if the bee can get in while the spoon is on top, why can't it get out?
Because the dishwater, I guess it traps it.
Yeah, traps it.
Its wings get wet.
Oh, okay.
So it may not explain why the bees are disappearing.
across the country, but it may explain whether disappearing in Belfrey in eastern Kentucky.
The things you learn on this show.
I noticed lots of people loved your periodic table bit yesterday.
Got a good response on that.
I felt like I kind of let myself down because I had more written down, but I went with bronze too early.
You should have loved with the ones you were confident in first and then like end it with bronze.
Yeah, I'm just reading down my list.
Yeah.
That I'm when I came out.
Right now I'm getting mocked for getting Pierre's first name wrong.
Sorry about that.
But I feel like that'll be the thing I hear about today.
want to get people back to talk to me about your periodic table yesterday.
All right.
Are you guys ready for your homework assignment?
Come on, Mario.
Shannon, he has the gigantic U.K. hat out.
I have a big U.K. hat, and I've got some things inside the hat.
Okay.
You're going to draw out of the...
I need a hat to put the items in.
Okay.
So there's a pretty big basketball tournament going on this weekend.
Yeah?
What's it called?
Well, I've been watching the crown out in Vegas, but I see him you're talking about the final four.
Final four.
It means there's four teams.
Thank you.
each of you are going to blind draw a team
and then tomorrow
you have to come up with five fun facts
about that team
stealing this straight from
pardon my take
they did this for the sweet 16
we're just going to do it for the final four
so you're going to draw for you and Shannon
Mario you're going to draw for you and Billy
all right yeah all right
oh so you don't even have to do one
no this sounds like you're just giving us the show per
well this is yeah it's I don't have to do it less work
all right this is your team or Shannon's team
yeah Shannon do you want this to be mine or yours I have
my hand on one. I'm shuffling it up.
All right, we'll make this one mine.
This is Shannon. This is Shannon.
This is Shannon's. Who's he got?
Shannon has the number one overall seed,
Auburn Tigers.
Oh, okay. Shannon. You've got to come up with five fun facts
tomorrow about Auburn Tigers. It could be about their players,
their coach, their team, their city. Five fun facts.
Not just, well, you know, they beat Kentucky this year.
You know, that doesn't count. Yeah. No, I'll give you
some good fun facts.
All right.
I got it.
Mario, you draw on for yourself?
You're drawing for Billy.
I'm going to draw from Billy.
All right.
Don't look.
You're peeking.
Sorry.
This is Billy's.
We're done.
Billy might need that hat.
There you go, Billy has Sport.
All right, who's Billy got?
Billy's got Florida.
Well, he's from Florida.
There you go.
It should be easy for him.
I heard him giving Florida facts on the pre-show.
That's perfect.
Good draw for Mario.
Billy got Florida.
All right, Drew, this is yours, then.
Back to me.
Okay.
Something tells me this will be either Houston or Duke.
Why does it feel like there's more paper?
here than two. It's just two.
Okay. I got mine.
All right. Please don't be doing it.
Okay, wait, no, don't open it yet. Mario, you draw your last one.
I don't want Duke.
Only one more left. Yeah.
All right, so you guys open them up. Who you got?
All right. You go first.
Oh, man, I got Duke.
Yeah. You got Duke. I got my champion pick from the beginning.
The Coogs. You got Houston.
So Drew's got Houston. Shannon's got Auburn.
Billy's got Florida. Mario, you got Duke.
I kind of want to switch with Billy.
Yeah, he won't know.
He really won't know.
There we go.
That's good for him, though.
Well, you're from Florida, too.
Either one of you can do Florida.
Yeah, okay.
I'll let Billy do.
Do some negotiations.
He's not listening.
Mario, we're ruling that you're Florida, Billy is.
Okay, Mario's got Florida.
Billy's got Duke.
That's perfect.
Billy's a bad guy.
Billy like that.
Billy seems like he'd be a bit of a Duke fan.
Exactly, sir.
He probably knows 50 facts about Duke without looking at up.
We'll do that.
Well, like I said, PFT and Big Cat, they did this for the Sweet 16, and it was awesome.
We listened to the podcast driving up to Milwaukee.
And I was like, it was really funny.
So I thought, well, let's just do it for the final four.
We'll do our own fun fact segment tomorrow.
All right?
I like that.
You got anything else up your sleeve for tomorrow?
Yes.
Matter of fact, Matthew Mitchell's going to join us tomorrow for a segment.
Oh, wow.
The new head women's coach at Houston.
It's weird seeing him in red.
It's very weird seeing him in red.
So he's going to join us.
And then also join us tomorrow, Malachi Marino.
How about that?
That's awesome.
Big good.
One of the hottest names in basketball right now.
The dude just won Mr.
basketball, just won the state tournament, and just played in a McDonald's game, and he's a
Kentucky recruit, that's a pretty good haul.
Yeah, how'd you pull that off?
Your local Great Crossing High School basketball?
Yeah, I got my sources, you know.
No, that'll be good.
He's had quite a couple weeks.
Yes, he has, so we're going to catch up with him and talk to him about it, so that's all
tomorrow.
All right, well, take our break.
Come back, Ryan, Drew, Shannon, and Mario.
This is Kentucky's Boards Radio.
Last night, a blown call changed a game.
This morning, the Internet lost.

And on my podcast, The Cliverts show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of
stuff.
Like being an internet famous referee.
We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker walks up to me, he goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Quarterback on office blue 42.
Hey, rep, my mama want you to wave at her.
What?
Hey, Ms. Parker.
Listen to the Clippers show on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.
What's up, fam, this Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about Define.
the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves,
I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series
because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nash would get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
He run up the court, licking his fingers while he got the ball.
Like, after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick.
Oh, yeah.
Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball.
So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcasts.
This is Saigon, the story of my family and of the country that shaped us.
The United States will not stand by and allow any power, however great, take over another country.
From My Heart Podcasts, Saigon.
Please allow me to introduce Joseph Sherman.
You don't think I'm serious about a free Vietnam?
I should stop talking so much.
I like hearing you talk.
One city, a divided country, and the war that tore America apart.
This is for Vietnam.
I've taken a hit from Germany.
Japanese ground fire.
Do you rate me?
They're pouring petrol all over him.
He's holding matches.
I'm on a landmine.
Or freeze on.
Get out.
Freedom.
Come me.
Saigon.
Starring Kelly Marie Tran and Rob Benedict.
Sting, here's madness.
The world should hear about this.
There's a fire coming to this country and it's going to burn out everything.

Apparently this B thing is real, Drew.
You've got people sending us pictures.
They do it at their house
with dead bees in the bowl.
Apparently it works.
We've got a big reaction.
I had no idea.
Over at KS. Board, we have our little show thread.
Encourage everyone to go join, be a part of that.
We have fun during the show.
But you're posting pictures where they do it in Eastern Kentucky.
I had no idea.
There you go.
Maybe that's why the bee population is dying.
It's catching on in Eastern Kentucky.
Maybe it's catching on everywhere.
There's a buzz going on.
I don't have any bees, but I might set it out tonight.
Just to see what happens.
Just to contribute to killing the bees.
Yeah.
Yeah, we have a bee shortage.
I just want to say.
I like a good science fair project.
I just want to see how it works.
859-280-228-7.
Let's get a phone call.
We'll get some more little tidbits.
Who we got, Liam?
Don.
Don.
Go ahead, Don.
What's your take on the McKenzie Mobacco and I use?
I'm a Hoosier fan.
I'm not sure what you're getting there possibly.
Yeah, well, you tell us if you're a Hoosier fan.
People are like not saying very good things about him.
uh there is no defense watch watch his defense and uh he's he was just uninspired so many times
it was just mind boggling uh i don't i mean he's gone i think pope is doing a great job down
there i love listening to what he's doing there and how he's doing it but he's going to have to be
uh he's going to have to do a hell of the job to get that uh guy
to perform on every night.
Appreciate it.
Like I said yesterday, they're throwing a wide net,
and they've definitely been talking to him,
McKenzie Mbaco, Mckinsey Mbaco.
They've been talking to him.
It doesn't mean they necessarily going to get him
or if they get somebody else,
but nobody seems to have a lot of good things to say about this guy,
but he was a McDonald's All-American out of high school.
Yeah, a huge recruit.
If you watched him in high school,
it looks like a sure thing.
Maybe it's just the case
You know, he's in Bloomington.
He's part of the Hoosiers program.
They're trash.
Woodson's time's coming in it in.
Maybe he's thinking, I don't want to be here.
I'm not playing defense for these bums,
and he's looking for a fresh start.
Maybe.
Maybe that's it.
He says to Kentucky yesterday.
Pope's in on him.
Maybe if he does end up becoming a cat,
it could be a great reset for his career,
and he can get back to playing the basketball he was playing
when he was one of the top recruits in the country.
Speaking of coaches,
some SEC coaches in the headlines this week,
first Chris Beard,
Ole Miss coach
looks like he's going to Texas A&M.
It was reported that he had agreed in principle
to become the new head coach at Texas A&M,
but then he's like, eh-uh, I'm going to stay in Oxford
and stay at O'Miss.
I was hoping he would go, just because that would be
the funniest thing. He would have been at Texas,
Texas Tech, and Texas A&M.
At that point, you're just jumping around the rivalries
there. Big Texas guy, I can understand
why I considered it, but
that's huge of Ole Miss to keep him.
You wonder a place like Ole Miss
doesn't have a lot of basketball tradition,
support hasn't been that much except for good years here and there.
I wondered how long he'd stay there, but that was big for the rebels to keep him home
after they had a good season.
The reason the A&M job is open is because our boy Buzz Williams has become the head coach at Maryland.
Buzz just loves a good NCAA bubble program.
I think he's like, you know what, A&M's getting a little too good.
I want to live up in the bubble for the rest of my life.
I'm going to go somewhere else and try to get back on the bubble.
I guess it could be, you know, you're always going to be second at A&M.
to football, maybe third behind the yell leaders
in their stupid suits, the white
outfits that they wear. Even though
basketball has had a little bit of success,
it's never going to be top dog there.
He probably just wants some of that underarmor
money at Maryland and
a better chance with the basketball program.
I saw this something great, Shannon,
about Buzz Williams. What's up? He
did like a research project
on coaching longevity,
and he found that most coaches
have great success through six years
and then their success starts to decline a little bit.
Kind of happened here, but it was seven years with Cal.
I think Fox Monkham Bay and with his seventh-year team.
And then it starts to decline a little bit.
So he went to Marquette, head coach for six years, five NCAA tournaments.
He left.
Went to Virginia Tech.
Only stayed there five years, but got them where they were going to the NCAA tournament.
Went to Texas A&M.
Six years.
He's out.
I think he lives by that formula, Shannon.
That's your shelf life as a college basketball.
That's why coach is six years.
Well, if I'm Maryland, I don't know what his contract was,
but I don't think I would offer him anything more than five years
because I know he's going to be out the door after five years.
You know, I'm sure it all comes down to money.
I'm sure that was a big part of it.
But to me, if I'm a college basketball coach,
I want a coach in the best conference that there is.
And I felt like he had it pretty good at A&M coaching in the SEC.
So, you know, again, maybe it all comes down to the money.
But I would think that the SEC is where every coach would aspire to coach in.
would you not?
You think so, especially right now.
Maybe he's afraid of it.
He's running from it.
Maryland had a good tournament run this year,
but before that, they've missed several tournaments.
Maybe he's just like John Taffron, Bar Rescue,
just jumping place to place, wanting to save these places,
get him into a good spot.
I think there's something to do that.
Move on to the next one.
And I think Under Armour has a lot of the money there in Maryland,
so they can pay the guy pretty well.
He had a lot to do with it.
But Buzz is a Texas guy.
He's from Texas, if I'm not mistaken.
So, you'd think.
more to be stay close to home he had a good thing going he did guess wait taylor the fourth
finally ran out of eligibility and he couldn't do it without him anymore 8592802287 who we got
leam steve steve steve go ahead steve hey fellas um i hate to be debby downer but the last thing
you want to do is try to kill bees bees are your attack all over the world has been in the
united states bees are dying from colony collapse disorder
We need bees.
We don't need to kill them.
Appreciate the phone call.
Yeah, we talked about that yesterday.
Bees are very, very crucial to our fruit trees and things like that.
So if this continues on, our food shortage will definitely be,
our food supply will definitely be hampered by it.
Was that intentional?
Would you hold on to that bee for?
Also, sandwich meat's getting expensive.
You can't just be throwing around slices of turkey on your porch to kill bees.
Yeah, Ryan, quit killing all the bees out there, blaming you.
Well, you know, they have those carpenter bees that drill into your deck and your...
I've had a few of those.
And there's a little thing you can do with like a cup, plastic cup, and hang it.
You're going to hang the bee?
Well, no, the bee gets trapped down in the cup and it can't get out.
Okay, do you put anything in the cup?
I think so.
I don't remember what I don't want to do.
Someone on KS board said you can use a glass of wine, but I'm not sharing my wine with a bee.
With a bee.
No.
Who's next, Liam?
Who we got.
Ralph.
Ralph.
Ralph.
Go ahead, Ralph.
Little Cassidy Row comment.
I hate to be a downer as well as the previous caller,
but, you know, she was given that scholarship offer by,
was it Matthew Mitchell?
Is that correct?
That was the first, yes.
Yeah, so then she got hurt, and Elsie decided to honor that.
Is that also correct?
That's correct.
That's correct.
Yes.
So now we have another coach.
and he gives her an opportunity, you know, speaking as someone in the 15th region, you know, it's, it's obvious that, you know, a step slow maybe and some things like that, but a great kid, a wonderful, fantastic young lady.
And, you know, it's a touch and go situation, but people need to understand, you know, on the other side of the coin, when she's in seventh and eighth grade and she's starting varsity.
and she has seniors ahead of her that had been in that program at Shelby Valley for a long time.
You know, those kids got kind of pushed by the wayside as well.
And I just, I hate to see the back and forth online with her dad and, you know, that sort of thing.
It's just, it's just a bad situation.
But, you know, I think, I think UK did her tremendously, did her tremendous favor when she was younger by offering at that age.
and seeing it through, you know, through the knee injuries.
And then Brooks comes along, and he does give her that year of opportunity.
So it's kindly six of one and half a dozen of the other.
I don't know that it's one of those situations that, man, you hate it for everybody involved.
And I think, you know, in some of your comments previously,
you kindly addressed it in that manner.
And I think that's spot on.
I don't think it's the thing that you can, you know, necessarily take a side on.
because in some ways both sides are right and in some ways both sides aren't right i totally agree with that
that's that's that's my two thing thank you thank you appreciate that he's right we can all see both sides
most people just lean one way or the other do you lean towards coach brooks or do you lean towards cassidy
i've won and just leaning towards cassidy i just feel like i've said it i've already said it 15 times on this show
she's going to be a senior she's you want a character type person a good person on your
your bench, even if she's not playing.
If he had known this was going to be the case as the season was ending, I wish maybe he would
have let her go through Senior Day.
That probably would have helped this a lot, that she didn't get the closure she probably deserved.
Can you even bring her back next year as a PT student and let her have a moment senior day?
We'll take awkward.
T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney.
Call T.J. He'll make them pay.

My timeline on the A-Vision Glass Tech Machine is nothing but B's and Cassidy Row.
I mean, that is all my timeline right now, everything.
It's mostly what the Internet is, too.
I think there's some Cassidy Row exhaustion, but you said 18 of your 20 texts during the break were Cassidy Row?
When we first talked about it.
Yeah, earlier before we got to the bees.
18 to the 20.
Shannon, speaking of bees, though, I know you can sympathize with me.
Allergy season right now is awful.
Oh, my gosh, yes.
I was sitting here yesterday.
I had tears rolling down my eyes from the allergies.
So I don't know.
Do you get allergy shots, Ryan?
Is that something that you've ever thought about doing?
Oh, I did when I was a kid.
Once a week, every week, my entire childhood, but now I just take a lot of medicine.
It's probably not the best thing to do, but I just load it because it's awful right now.
Yeah, I've kind of felt bad all week, really.
So I'm just trying to – well, I'm hoping when we get down to Florida next week, you know, you and I down there on the beach,
there's not going to be any allergies down there.
We're going to be ready to roll.
You know, Shannon and I like to rub each other, baby oil each other's back.
You get my back.
I'll get yours.
Yeah.
You all are just taking vacation, just leaving me here all by myself.
I'm just going to keep clocking in like I do every day.
Just going to keep showing up for where...
I'm carrying the lunch pale.
My last day off was in September.
I know something to make you feel better, Shannon.
Today, by the way, is National Burrito Day.
I love a good burrito.
We don't sell burritos here at KS. Bar and Grill,
but there's some good ones here in town.
Poppies, one of our sponsors.
Probably go get you a good burrito today.
El Marriachi, another one of our sponsors that get good burritos.
Best burrito in town is at Ramirez off of Versailles Road.
That's the one that was, like, nationally recognized one time.
I love all of our Mexican establishments around town.
I eat it most of them, if not all of them.
But if you want a burrito, Ramirez, Rousels Road,
a little grocery store with people in there super nice.
You even have their hat.
Bought a hat in there one time.
Did you really?
I've been there.
Great stuff.
You guys even went out and got a burrito for me in Milwaukee that was really good.
I don't know what the name of that place was.
Oh, yeah, they're trying.
Really good.
Those were good.
I only ate Mexican food in Milwaukee.
That's right.
You did.
Carries to a championship.
I would have thought that Milwaukee was on the Mexican
border the way Drew is eating nothing but Mexican food down there.
You know, it's the city of beer and cheese, and everybody was talking about the burgers.
I think I had like two beers, zero cheese and zero burgers.
It was all Mexican food, had a few margaritas.
You know, when you're that close to the border up there.
Sure, in Milwaukee.
I enjoyed it.
859-280-2287.
Who we got, Liam?
Peanut.
Peanut.
Go ahead, Peanut.
Hey, how's it going, Dad?
Are you, Peanut?
I'm actually going to be a little bit, though, about some things.
I know we always did guys from East Kentucky, like Travis and Perry,
and all of, and then, Custody Road.
I don't know, I feel like Eastern Kentucky folks,
and you guys even sometimes seem like y'all,
I play with Easter Kentucky, like those are big best fans,
and some Cudgeoning, I don't know since you're pretty.
I believe it's a lot.
I think you feel like that.
I know we don't forget.
They say players for our team, but just because you from Eastern Kentucky.
I don't mean.
She's from Kentucky.
Yeah.
Okay.
Appreciate it, Peanut.
First of all, Travis Perry is from Western Kentucky.
Yep.
So is Zach Tao also on the roster?
Two, region, two players, let's not forget.
And there's something, it's hard to explain the people that Leah live,
the people that live in Easter Kentucky, the pride they have for their fellow Easter
Kentucky, it's hard to explain.
There's such a great pride they have.
And when somebody steps up like Castorrault or Trent Noah, the whole area adopts them, not just your hometown, all of each Kentucky.
Richie Farmer, John Pelfrey, these guys that come, J.R. Van Hoose, for crying out loud, these people are beloved for the rest of their life.
Yeah, I think the whole state's like that.
We're pretty proud in Western Kentucky, but there is an Appalachian pride that's very, very, very strong.
Yeah, I don't know if because it's just some things in that area aren't going the way they need to go.
and it's been in decline a little bit.
So when someone gets out, they want to support them even more.
But I think it's statewide, the pride.
But it's very, very strong there.
Very strong.
859-280-2287.
Who's next, Liam?
Everett.
Everett. Go ahead, Everett.
Hey, fellas.
It's not bees.
It's the southern yellow jacket attacking beehives.
And it's also the colony collapse disorder.
and mooter hornets will attack
you cows.
All right, Everett, we appreciate that.
Another reason why the bee population is dwindling.
Hornets!
I wasn't planning to bring this up today,
but since we're talking about some bees, hornets,
I was outside before the weather got bad.
Just looking around my yard, picking a few weeds.
Yeah, picking weeds?
Yeah, I had to get those.
Got some dandelions.
Oh, I got to dig those out.
You can't pull them out.
You've got to dig them out.
But I'm walking around, I'm like, man, this,
Ground feels weird right here and go a little farther, see a big hole.
I got a mole problem.
How do I get rid of mold?
Do I have to get a mold trap?
I might sit out there with the shovel and just fight them off?
I mean, it's not a small one.
As I kept going around the side of my house, I could follow a trail all the way to my front yard.
You got to poison them.
You got to poison them.
There's these gummy worms.
Poisonous gummy worms you can stick into the ground and they'll eat them and they'll die.
That's what you got to do.
I didn't know that.
These gummy worms, I don't have to put them on a spoon over a bowl of dish soap.
Nope.
You just stick them down in the ground.
ground right where your your mole path is and then it'll get rid of them I've had to
do that too you could do what I've done my whole life have a dog dogs love digging up
those moles first they're not going to live yeah you know I like to keep critters alive as
best I can but you know if they've got to eat a gummy they got to eat a gummy that's
right I almost doubt eating a gummy one time yes you did I was with you
who's next Liam Tim Tim go ahead Tim
hey guys first time caller a long time listener appreciate you calling I had a guy
The first guy there, he mentioned the Hornets.
He'd beat me to it, but yeah, he's correct on that.
Those are actually Yellow Jackets, not bees.
The second thing I got is if the season started today
with our current recruits and the guys we got coming in,
how do you guys think that we would just play realistically,
and I'll hang on this and face.
Well, that's going to be hard to talk about
Because, you know, Otega, Garrison, Chandler, Noah, Perry, is really, and Cam Williams, that's our team.
We got six guys right now.
What was the question there about, what would they, what was he asking?
How would they fare?
How would they fare?
If we didn't reload?
With what we have right now.
Well, I mean, you still got, you got Jasper and Caden Lewis.
I forgot about the three freshmen.
Yeah, I forgot about the three freshmen.
I mean, so you got eight players right now.
Yeah, I mean, we would need a lot more.
I mean, I like that all those guys are going to be a big piece of it,
but most of the names we just said are going to be coming off the bench next season.
Oh, you want me to give, like, would they make the tournament?
I think they could make the tournament with that group.
The freshmen would really have to pan out at guard.
We're a little thin at guard there.
Hell, that was the team for part of the year this year, a few games it felt like.
But, yeah, yeah, I don't think we could go in with that.
That would not be up to Kentucky standard.
Even though I like all those guys as pieces next year,
they got to go out and get a starting point guard.
Yes.
And a big guy and a shooter.
I mean, they don't have anyone at the four.
You're losing Carr and Almanor.
So not that that would happen, but that's not a complete team for Kentucky standards.
I've been told by people, don't sleep on a Caden Lewis.
Like, he's better than people are really giving him credit for.
He could be a guy that gets a lot of minutes next year.
And like Pierre, who they're looking at, that's kind of, he played off the ball at Jacksonville State,
I wonder if he could be a point guard.
Maybe he plays a little point, but at Caden Luce comes off the bench and runs the show if he's ready,
and he can move over to the two and away at the three.
It'll all depend on really how those freshmen, how we see.
Maybe Jasper earns a starting spot.
Who knows?
Offensively looks awesome at OTE, but a lot of times guys that played there, their defense is a little questionable.
But until you put them in a college setting, we really won't know how the freshman will pan out overall.
Who's next?
Liam, let's get another phone call.
T.O.
T.O. Go ahead, T.O.
was don't even bother in questions like that last one.
That's like asking, is it going to rain a year from now?
We don't know what kind of team we're going to have,
and I don't know nothing about no hornets or no bees or none of that stuff either.
I just don't like getting stung.
Tennessee stung us, but it's time to pick the pieces back up.
We've got the master motivator, the machine, Mark Pope.
He's going to assemble a team, and he's going to assemble a squad that can win a title.
We know the assignment.
We fell short to 30-line snitches, Tennessee,
but we know the assignment, and we're going to bring it.
Everybody here is going to bring it.
All right, boys.
That's what we do right there.
Appreciate, T.O.
Thanks for the phone call.
I have full confidence that the team he brings in next year
is going to be probably more talented than the team we just had,
and the team we just had had a hell of a year.
Yeah, especially if they stay healthy.
I think they'll definitely make sure.
It's as we've been saying all week
Some of our fans
I don't think are built for the portal
They're hanging on to every little piece of news
And the sky's falling
And Pope can't get it done
When it's only been a few days
And Pope himself has shown
He can go out and get the guy
That's ranked 50th in the portal
And turn him into something special
Because he has exact needs
That he wants to fit in his offense
Like when we got Otega Owe last year
I mean it was a nice addition
But was anyone cheering Yeh, Otega Owe?
We didn't think he would start
Didn't even have even mentioned
in the starting line of it?
All the SEC.
So I get, you know, we're hanging on to it.
I actually think it's fun this time of year.
Otherwise, it'd be kind of quiet.
But these rankings, lots of people are speculating how it'll change.
And sure, we want Kentucky to get the best of the best.
But Mark Pope knows what he wants, and we really have to just trust him at this point.
I wish he could close a little better right now.
I thought they were in good with Dent.
That stinks that they were in good with Magoon.
You know, he has had some misses.
I'm not just sunshine pumping for Pope.
There's still a lot of time left and a lot of names that haven't even entered the portal.
He's probably got a list of people that no one event.
You know he does.
That he's already had conversations with.
You know he does.
Yeah.
Absolutely.
From the aviage and glass text machine, tell Drew juicy fruit gum for the moles.
They still make that?
I think they do.
Oh, okay.
Haven't bought that in a while.
Do I just...
Grandpa's like...
How does that work?
Do I chew it up and spit it down in the hole?
I think that's going to probably just like your gummy.
Never heard that one before.
I don't know how that's going to murder it.
Is it going to choke on it or I don't know?
Never heard that one before.
Baby bird and gum to moles in my backyard.
Sounds like a fun weekend.
A couple serious things before we get to take a break.
Tornado warnings have now started again already in McCreary County, Pulaski County, and Wayne County.
Man, just be careful down there. Be safe.
And this one's sad.
We've got to tell this and we'll go to a break.
Former U.K. football player Dean Wells passed away.
He's been battling leukemia.
Dean played with my buddy Dante.
They played before I got here, but I knew Dean.
That's sad.
I mean, he's probably early.
50s.
I say he's playing early 90s.
Yeah, early 50s.
So our thoughts and prayers to Dean Wells' family.
And it's just tough.
It's tough.
And, you know, cancer sucks.
And it affects all of us.
And I know a lot of people that he, his teammates with are going to be very sad today.
So thoughts and prayers to Dean Wells.
We'll take our break.
We'll come right back.
This is Connecticut Sports Radio.
Last night, a blown call changed the game.
This morning, the internet lost its mind.
Highlights are trending.
Opinions are flying.
And nobody's telling you exactly what happened.
That's where Sports Slice comes in.
I'm Timbo.
Every episode, we're cutting through the noise.
Breaking down the plays, the controversies, and the stories behind the headlines.
We go straight to the source, the athlete themselves.
Their locker room stories, their reactions, the stuff nobody gets to hear.
The laughs, the drama, the triumphs, the moments that never make the highlight real.
From viral moments to historic games, from buzzer beaters to controversial calls, we break it down,
give you context and ask the questions everybody wants answered.
Sports slice brings you closer to the action.
with stories told by the people who live them.

What's up, guys? This is Clivert Taylor the 4th.
And on my podcast, The Clivert Show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff.
Like being an internet famous referee.
We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker walks up to me, he goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue with 42.
Hey, Wreck, my mama want you to weigh better.
What?
Hey, Miss Parker.
Listen to the Clifford show on the IHeart Radio app,
Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.
What's up, fam?
It's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm C.J. Toledano,
and our podcast Point Game is about defying the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows.
Without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson,
we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nash will get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
He running up the court, licking his fingers
why he got the ball, like,
after you go through a training camp with that, I said,
you figure it out real quick.
Get your ass up and down the court,
and you're going to get the ball.
So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Appreciate it, Shannon.
We mentioned the passing of Dean Wells.
I also should mention Val Kilmer passed away with his battle with cancer yesterday.
What's your favorite Val Kilmer character?
I mean, the universal answer is Tombstone.
Doc Holliday.
Yeah, I mean, he was pretty awesome in that.
But one of my favorite movies is Heat with Pacino and De Niro.
Yeah.
He was in that one too.
Also thought he made a decent Batman.
It was, I think it was Batman forever.
One of them.
It was a little corny, but I thought he made a good Batman.
But, I mean, you could, the list just goes on and on with Alcomber rolls.
Very, very sad.
He had a, was it throat cancer a day ago.
It kind of took him out of acting, even though he made a brief appearance in the Top Gun remake.
That's another one, Top Gun.
That's fine.
That's my Ice Man.
He was Ice Man and Top Gun.
What about you, Shannon?
Well, that's what I was going to say.
You took the words out of my mouth, Ice Man from Top Gun, no doubt.
I'm a big 90s movie guy.
He was in a lot of the hits.
The Top Gun remake, Maverick.
They did some AI where he,
couldn't talk. He's throat cancer, but yet
his character in the movie,
they made him talk and made him stand
up, and it was amazing. I mean,
it looked a little off, but really,
if you didn't know, you probably couldn't even tell that that was
a lot of it was AI.
Yeah, he was big in, uh,
what's the,
the rim of the doors?
What's, the Jim Morrison, why?
Yeah. He was in that. All kinds of good
stuff. So, rest of peace,
Valcimer. 859-2802, 287.
Who we got, Liam? Lee.
Lee, go ahead, Lee.
I got two things real quick.
One might make me an enemy with some people.
But on Buzz Williams, I listened to a podcast.
He doesn't stay any place more than six or seven years.
He doesn't, he believes that that's the cutoff.
He was the Marquette for six or seven, Virginia Tech for six, Texas A&M for six.
I bet money that he doesn't stay Maryland more than six or seven.
Second thing, I feel sorry for the Cassidy Row thing.
I understand, but it's sports.
You just got to get over.
And at this point, I think,
the biggest problem is the dad quit making it public like it it would be dead by now if he
wouldn't be so public with it and so at this point i think the dad just needs to kind of back off so
have a good day guys appreciate it again people thought it was a one-day story we're still
talk about throughout this whole show today it's amazing but yeah i didn't know that about buzz
williams they only stated at school for six years did you know that well he said i heard it on a
podcast and well you can hear it on this podcast coming up at dude you said at
20 minutes ago.
I'm just playing.
Okay, which reminds me,
one of our callers,
well, I don't know if he's a caller,
one of our people
did something to me last night
they thought was really funny
and it kind of backfired.
They ordered six large pizzas
to my house.
And then I got a text message
that says April Fool's.
It was a Domino's guy
in my driveway and it was two
and a Papa John's guy
in my driveway with four.
They showed up like almost at the same time.
But the dude didn't pay for him.
So I'm like, I'm not paying for those.
I didn't order them.
So the delivery drivers wasted their time, didn't get a tip.
The pizza places did not make any money.
So he thought it was being funny and pulling an April Fool's joke on me, and it kind of backfired.
It cost these places of money.
I didn't know you could, I thought you'd have to pay up front.
I guess you could still check cash.
Maybe so.
I don't know.
I don't know how he did it, but yeah.
But your last four digits are 8489.
Oh.
If you know anybody whose last four digits are 8489.
Oh, my phone just see if it pops up.
See, he put my name on it, put my address on it,
but yet he used his own phone number and then texted me from his phone number,
said April Fool's.
His last four digits are 8489.
It doesn't pop up in my phone.
I think his first name's like Mason or something.
Oh, look.
It doesn't really get you, though, because you just answered the door like I'm not doing that.
You said it gets the person that it to drive over there, spend their own gas in time to not make a penny.
That's the thing, man.
Those delivery drivers got zero.
The waste of their time, they could have been on other deliveries and made money, made some tips.
Pizza Place spent all that money making those pizzas their time and money?
8489 Mason's a jerk.
I think it's what we're finding out there.
Be honest, though, did you be like, well, what are you all going to do with those pizzas now?
Okay, we'll take them.
I'm not paying for them, but I'll take them.
