Starting point is 00:00:00 Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends. Those people are starving for banter.
Starting point is 00:00:23 Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends on the I-Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Last night, a blown call changed a game. Starting point is 00:01:14 We're in the middle of a game. This linebacker walks up to me. He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Time out. Quarterback on office blue 42. A rep. My mama want you to wave at her.
Starting point is 00:01:30 What? Where's he at? Hey, Miss Parker. Listen to the Cliverts show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano.
Starting point is 00:01:47 It's our favorite time of the year on our podcast point game, the playoffs. We're digging into the biggest surprises of the season. And I'm looking back on some of my greatest playoff moments. If we didn't talk ever again, I was harmed. You just understood. That's how personal it got. Wow. Then after that game seven, Mark keep coming until he's like, you know I love you, dog.
Starting point is 00:02:04 You know, it's all love. This was just playoffs. This was just basketball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome to Hour 2 of Kentucky Sports Radio, presented by Stockton Mortgage. Now, here's Matt Jones. Welcome back. Hour number two, Kentucky Sports Radio, 859-280-2287. Text machine 772-7-7-4-5-254 here at KS Bar and Grill. You can come have lunch. Trivia's tonight at 7 o'clock.
Starting point is 00:03:32 You got your team? I've got a team, and I'm looking to expand. Looking to expand. I've invited hubby and Sarah, see if they can come. We need to put the pressure on them. I'm going to try to pop in a group. Drew's even going to stop by for a little minute. Would you like to, you probably could get a couple people here to, like, a couple people in the listening to play on its play on your team?
Starting point is 00:03:47 I'm good. I'm good, you know. But they might have a lot of knowledge. They probably have a lot more knowledge than me. I like to keep my circle tight. You like to keep your circle tight. You don't want too many voices trying to answer the question. You play sometimes.
Starting point is 00:03:58 Are you playing tonight? You don't play. But you do play sometimes, don't you? No, okay, well, never mind. She just sticks to Jimmy Buffett parties. I thought you did. You get your questions ready? All right.
Starting point is 00:04:09 No, but I will have them by 7 o'clock. Yeah, so I'm ready to go. It's the third to last clock. Getting close to the championship. Yes, so it should be fun. Just some breaking news. I don't know if you don't need to use the one. No one in and all.
Starting point is 00:04:25 No, it's not that big, but Lawrence Taylor. So Abdul Carter, plays for the Giants. He got picked by the Giants, third. He's sworn 56 all his life. Lawrence Taylor played for the Giants was number 56, and they retired his jersey. So Abdul Carter asked Lawrence Taylor,
Starting point is 00:04:45 hey, man, it would be an honor if you would let me wear your number 56 jersey. Lawrence Taylor just today said, no. Okay, so what do we think? Is that poor form by Lawrence Taylor? I mean, he asked you nicely, said it would be an honor, because he's a linebacker, like Lawrence Taylor, I could following your footsteps. Aline with LT here, I mean, what did you retire my jersey for?
Starting point is 00:05:16 What if the guy ends up being a bust? Why am I going to come out of retirement just for him, not knowing he's a sure thing? But don't you look like the bigger man if you do that? And this happened with the Titans. People were wondering if Cam Ward would get number one because he's wanted at every level. Warren Moon surprised him at the press conference and gave it to him.
Starting point is 00:05:32 But there was debate because it sounded like Warren Moon wasn't going to do it, and he ended up doing it. So in the same draft, you have one legend gave it up to Ward and the other LTs hanging on to it. I kind of lean more what the Warren Moon move. Be the bigger person. I mean, when is the last, when we're going to talk about Lawrence Taylor ever again? You know, he was his, he's in the Hall of Fame,
Starting point is 00:05:53 but we haven't mentioned Lawrence Taylor the whole time I've been on this show. And he's like the number three picks, Shannon. It's not just some goober asking, right? this is a dude who's supposed to be a star. Yeah, he was asked nicely. He declined nicely. Hey, it's my number. We retired it's going to stay retired.
Starting point is 00:06:07 You're not bringing to that retirement. I feel like large should have been. If they retire my microphone one day, and then there's a guy or a man or woman who's hired that's like, you know, considered to be number one on the depth chart at UK journalism school. Michael from Dallas. Michael from Dallas. I'll let them use the microphone.
Starting point is 00:06:26 It's going to be broken like all the other equipment here, but I would let them use it. Okay, so our Oaks Horse. Yes. All right, first of all, let me do the read, and then let's talk about the Oaksores. Okay, because this is the read. You know, I told you about Commonwealth,
Starting point is 00:06:42 the platform that lets you have the thrill of owning shares of a racehorse. We are in the Oaks. This group won the Derby with Mage in 2023. They're no joke. And simply joking is offered by Grantley Acres and available exclusively on Commonwealth. So you go to join commonwealth.com or get the app, it's commonwealth, and you can be a part of the ownership group.
Starting point is 00:07:06 Use the code KSR. And here's the fun part. If you use the code, they're holding a drawing for 250 in share credit for anybody that uses the code. Nice. So you have a chance to even get more horse. Visit joincommonwealth.com today. Yesterday, a huge amount of you did it. Literally.
Starting point is 00:07:25 Like I think a couple hundred or more people added. with the code and some of you forgot to put in the code. Put in the code so you can win the money, right? You go to joincom. It's simply joking. There's also another horse, so jaded, but simply joking the LLC and so jaded nation are the issuancers. We are compensated for the share of this offering with you.
Starting point is 00:07:46 It's not an offer of solicitation to invest. Securities are offered under regulation CF exemption and are not registered with the SEC or state authorities. Please review all offering materials at app. joincom.com. Okay. So they're bringing us the hat. Yes. All right.
Starting point is 00:08:00 Nice. I've been doing research on this simply joking. This is a simply beautiful, Philly. And you're not joking. Let me ask you a question. So if Philly's a woman, what is a mayor?
Starting point is 00:08:14 That's a male, or is that a kid? No, that's a female. Yeah, it's a mom. Okay, but what's the difference between a Philly and a mayor? Philly's the young female, and the mayor's the older female. Yeah, fully matured. So you become a Philly to become a...
Starting point is 00:08:31 So it's like being a girl and a woman. A girl and a woman. I think so. So the Philly is a girl. Yes. The mayor is a woman. Yes. A cult.
Starting point is 00:08:40 What's a cult? Young boy. Young boy. And then what's a stallion? Older boy. Mm-hmm. So it's a cult to stallion. Uh-huh.
Starting point is 00:08:47 Philly to mayor. You got it. So we have a Philly. We have a Philly. Right? Beautiful Philly. I was looking at the pictures last night. If you go to the app, there's pictures of the Philly galloping.
Starting point is 00:08:57 Okay, and I noticed stride looks great. Oh, good. I was worried about the stride. One foot in front of the other. We're looking good, got it down. I feel like it goes in the right order. How's our workout? Oh, great.
Starting point is 00:09:10 Yeah. Fast. Sprinting. You can tell you she was focused. 10 to 1, which is good. Now, when people start betting a lot, who knows what have the odds could go up or down. True. I think right now, fourth or fifth choice, which actually is good.
Starting point is 00:09:28 you know there's a heavy favorite in this race we don't like that that horse okay that horse is that horse is a communist well but we're going to we're trying to have to other horses all right we're a horse player saying okay to talk trash to the other horses
Starting point is 00:09:47 yeah we're going to talk all the trash to every horse but we're ready for simply joking and uh I think uh you know here's a chance think of what happens if we win first of all we'll have a party Oh, yes. Secondly, you know, you do roses for the derby. What do you get for, is it lilies for the Phillies?
Starting point is 00:10:05 I'm going to put on a coat of lilies. You are. If we win, if we win the Oaks. I looked up, I'm more of a lineage guy. That's how I know how my horses are doing. Yeah, tell me about the parents. The sire, which is the dad, is practical joke. Mom was in ply.
Starting point is 00:10:23 I feel like they did good things. I remember when they got together. I think practical joke in all seriousness is, like, like one of the really good, um, sires, you know, male. It was like, practical jokes is kind of like the Elon Musk. Just keep producing children left and right of the world. And, uh, grand sire, which is a thing, was into the mischief. So into mischief.
Starting point is 00:10:48 So I really like, uh, you know, I like the song, Into the Mystic. See, I just, I'm big on the generations before, uh, the horses, too. And I like the lineage here. Like the family tree. So Walt Whitman, the trainer. Walt Whitworth Beckman. Whitworth Beckman. There was a story about him in the courier today.
Starting point is 00:11:08 He also has a horse in the derby. So this is his chance to kind of get a one-two-punch Kentucky in. And so I'm looking forward to it. I know his brother. He texted me after the show. He said he liked the excitement if we wanted to go early in the morning. You know his brother? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:23 Oh. We'll tell him to. We know the family. He invited us early in the morning to go see. They invited us Thursday morning to go for the workout at 5.30 a.m. I respectfully declined. Thank you. I did too.
Starting point is 00:11:35 We're more of the afternoon rides. I was like, when they take a more leisurely ride later in the day, I say this all the time, Shannon. Why do these horses have to get up, sore? I don't know. The race is at 6 o'clock. Yeah. Why not work them out when the race is? Why do they work them out so early in the morning?
Starting point is 00:11:58 I got to blame the trainers. The trainers are the one probably waking them up. But this is what they all do. Explain to me why they do that. I can understand doing it during a meet because the horses are racing in the afternoon, but during the non-meat times, why are they still racing? Oh, so is that why they do it? Maybe it's the only time they can get the track?
Starting point is 00:12:14 That may be what it is. Yeah, but what about in August when Churchill Downs is not running or whatever? Why do they still get to run early in the morning? Horses. Ours people are very early morning people, and that's not me. It's the hardest thing about the industry. to me. Well, just in sports, really like last night, I'm watching the Warriors. Like, no one said you want to come watch Steph Curry breakfast and stretch at 7 a.m.
Starting point is 00:12:34 No, I'm good. I'll wait for the real thing. I'll trust you that he's getting prepared. The Warriors don't practice at 6 a.m. They practice later in the day. Kobe used to. He'd work out like a 5 o'clock in morning. Frederick Douglas football. Another example. They wake me up. 6 o'clock in the way doing. The game's not until 7. Yesterday I had some people write me. They were watching the Netflix show. These are people in the horse industry. And they were like, I don't like that the Netflix show focused on these people, Rapoli and the tan Miami guy. They're not representative of the industry.
Starting point is 00:13:07 And I wanted to write those people and say, but that's the point. They're entertaining. I mean, this is a TV show. Like, they don't just want people who are like, yep, I like watching that horse route. Go horse. Like, they want people who are big personalities because they're trying to bring in people. So I think it's good for the industry. Like you want a dude like the Miami guy so that people can hate him.
Starting point is 00:13:31 And, you know, that's what you want. I finished it last night. Yeah, I haven't finished it. The first three episodes with those two guys in it are much better than the last three episodes that they're not in. Yeah. Because they're just entertaining dude. They're entertaining. Like, Kenny McPeek is in it.
Starting point is 00:13:45 He's a great guy. And it's neat to watch him. But his personality is not as big as those dudes. Yeah. You know, your guy, John Stewart, with his speak-easies. He's got like a lot when he's fighting with that guy Yeah like episode four is the derby Five is the prequeness and six is the Belmont
Starting point is 00:14:02 Yeah And so they concentrate on those people And are the douchebags are already out of You stop saying that one Seven times in two days Just D D. Who's up next shit?
Starting point is 00:14:12 Let's go to Mitch I hope you'll join us on the Join Commonwealth I think they sold like 10% of the horse yesterday That's crazy I know. Go ahead. Who'd you say? Mitch.
Starting point is 00:14:25 Mitch. Go ahead, Mitch. Well, hello, simply joking, fellow owners, because I bought some of that stock yesterday. There you go. We go. Welcome to the family. It's a sport of kings, bitch. I'm going to give you two questions answered.
Starting point is 00:14:40 An AI question or a history question. And they're both good. Give me the one you like the best. All right. So I work for Microsoft, and we've been told to use AI in interesting ways. I'm building a formula to pick horses. The problem is, I pick better than it did in the bluegrass stakes. Would you or anyone on the show use AI to do betting or even, say, Drew, writing?
Starting point is 00:15:06 Yeah, I mean, people do use AI for betting. I think AI for writing, I appreciate the call. I don't think AI for writing is yet as good as a good rider. Here's what I've learned from AI from writing, because my students try to get away with doing it. if a kid is a bad writer AI is better than that but if they're a good writer it's not as good yet
Starting point is 00:15:26 now maybe one day that's going to change when the technology gets better but I still think you can tell AI writing because it's not quite and then when I have a kid who can't write at all and then all of a sudden it looks good I'm like you cheated on this I can tell so I think with gambling
Starting point is 00:15:43 the AI stuff works pretty well actually if you know what you're doing I follow a Twitter account who says he does AI for his picks, and he has a pretty good record. I have no idea how that works. On writing, that would be a good way to get me fired, so I'm not using that. I do think there will be a day where robots are doing the blogging, and I'm in line looking for jobs. But I've had people in the UK sphere take one of my articles, completely copy it and run it through AI, and put it on their own website. So there's a lot of that.
Starting point is 00:16:11 There is one UK website that basically just does that. They take articles from other sites, put it into the AI thing, and then just change the words. And that's pretty low. There was one. I won't say who, but they didn't do enough checking because at the end, I said, thank you for joining us on KSR. And my article was about an interview we did. And they left that in there.
Starting point is 00:16:29 Oh, no way. It was pretty obvious. Wow. One person writes, Matt, I got home from last night. And my son looked at me and said, mom, what is a? and then that the word Ryan just used. Thanks a lot, Ryan. We're educating young minds.
Starting point is 00:16:50 I don't know that they need to know about that at this stage of their lives. So I can go just climb a DB? Better. Better. Gotcha. He'll be there as well at the Oaks. 859-280-2287. We'll take a break.
Starting point is 00:17:06 We're right back. Last night, a blown call changed the game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending, opinions are flying, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where Sports Slice comes in. I'm Timbo. Every episode, we're cutting through the noise. Breaking down the plays, the controversies, and the stories behind the headlines.
Starting point is 00:17:25 We go straight to the source, the athlete themselves. Their locker room stories, their reactions, the stuff nobody gets to hear. The laughs, the drama, the triumphs, the moments that never make the highlight real. From viral moments to historic games, from buzzer beaters to controversial calls, we break it down, give you context and ask the questions everybody wants answered. Sports Slice brings you closer to the action with stories told by the people who live them. Listen to Sports Slice on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more, follow Timbo Slic Life 12 and the TikTok podcast network on TikTok.
Starting point is 00:17:59 Welcome to my new podcast, Learn the Hard Way with me, your host, and your favorite therapist, Kier Games. And in recognition of mental health awareness month, I'm bringing over a decade of my own experience in the mental health field and conversations. with so many incredible guests. I'm talking. Tripp Fontaine, Ryan Clark. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing,
Starting point is 00:18:18 we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing. And we're still chasing it. And we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross. Because you find it important to be a good person
Starting point is 00:18:36 while you hear on earth. Are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person. Join me, Kear Gaines, is we have real conversations about healing, growth, fatherhood, pressure, and purpose on my new podcast, Learn the Hardway. Open your free iHeartRadio app. Search Learn the Hardway and listen now. What's up, guys? This is Clivert Taylor the Fourth. And on my podcast, The Cliverts Show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff. Like being an internet famous referee. We're in the middle of a game.
Starting point is 00:19:11 This linebacker walks up to me, he goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Time out. Quarterback on office blue of 42. Hey, rep, my mama want you to wave at her. What? Where's she at? Hey, Miss Parker.
Starting point is 00:19:33 Listen to the Clifford show on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. What's up, fam? This Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano and our podcast Point Game is about defining the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
Starting point is 00:19:55 And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson,
Starting point is 00:20:20 we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nass would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers why he got the ball. After you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court,
Starting point is 00:20:36 and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the, iHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What is this song, Shannon? Have you not heard the old gray mare? She ain't what she used to be? No, is that about... Your kind of music here. It's about Ryan?
Starting point is 00:20:55 How have you never heard this song? I mean, this feels like something you would listen to. Yeah, kind of your kind of music. Who is this? Are you being serious? Like, I should know this? Yes. Well, who's it by? I mean, there's... I don't know who wrote it originally, but I mean, this is... somebody I've never heard of, but I've heard this song.
Starting point is 00:21:13 I've never, this is a song you think I should have heard. The old gray mayor ain't what he used to be. Okay, you're shaking your head. Yeah. So how does everybody know, like, I do know songs like this. Who's singing this right here? This right here is Tex Fletcher, who I don't know who it is. I don't know who Tex Fletcher is either.
Starting point is 00:21:29 But I'm talking about the song itself. I don't think I should know that. Oh, yeah. I guarantee you, like. I even know this song. You know this song? Oh, yes. Everybody listening.
Starting point is 00:21:40 Do you know the song? The old gray mare ain't what you... Okay, so a lot of people I've never heard of this. I'll join you. I've never heard this. I've never heard this song. And I like horses and terrible old country music.
Starting point is 00:21:50 This is it. Wow. All right. Fair enough. Oh, we need something real quick. On Friday, because I didn't think, I didn't know I was going to be like owning a horse. Right?
Starting point is 00:22:01 So I was not planning on going to the Oaks. Because of that, Drew and Ryan and I do not have press credentials. Mario actually does. oddly, but Drew and Ryan and I do not. So we need a place next to Churchill Downs to do the show, okay? Because we can't get into Churchill Downs to do the show. We can get in to go to the race, but we can't set up equipment. But I need to be next to Churchill Downs because as soon as the show is over,
Starting point is 00:22:32 I need to get over there. So here's what I'm asking. This is a rare opportunity. We will do the show. either at your place of business or honestly in your house. Front yard. Oh, boy. Monique just looked up.
Starting point is 00:22:47 But we will. If you're within like a couple of blocks, now if you live like two miles away, I live two miles away. I can do it. I mean like in the surrounding area. And you'd like to have us do the show Friday. Here's what we need, though. We need to have a hard line internet connection.
Starting point is 00:23:05 You've got the cord, right? Yep. So we've got the cord if you don't have a long, enough cord, but we need a hardline internet connection. What happened to the other thing? They're using it at Churchill Down. They came and got it, and they're using it at Churchill down. So if you've got that and you'd like to host us, wait until the show's over and text
Starting point is 00:23:23 the text machine 772-774-5254. But we will bring the show to your house or place of business. Now, if we come, you can't invite everybody. You can invite a couple people and, like, we'll be nice. but we would like, if it's okay, this would help us because we right now don't really have anywhere to do it close to the show, close to the track.
Starting point is 00:23:46 It's really someone out there is listening. They'll be tellgating anyway. If you have a business, I'll say thank you to so-and-so for having us, right? You can't promote it. We can't do that. Like, it can't be an ad. But we'll come do it, and I'll be eternally grateful. And I'll even give you tickets to a Reds game,
Starting point is 00:24:02 and you don't even have to ask if you want. Red Sox game? Not the Red Sox game. And Ron will bring donuts. So, yeah, you'll bring donuts. Some of my favorite parts going to the Oakser Derby is walking to and from when you go through those neighborhoods. And they're out selling fish sandwiches and coax and mint jolips and everything. So maybe we'll be right in the thick of all that.
Starting point is 00:24:22 I told Matt, during the break, my favorite part of Derby is to walk back. We stop at all the after parties. People just out handing out food. But you do have to have a hard-wire internet. Because I know it will be hard to get a signal around the track. So we do have to have a hard. If you have that, we'll take care of everything else, and we'll do it. And I'll be eternally grateful, and you can host KSR at your house or business.
Starting point is 00:24:45 Who's up next, Shannon? Joe. Joe, go ahead, Joe. My mom says she knows that song, too. Yeah. Yeah. Crazy. All right, go ahead, Joe.
Starting point is 00:24:53 Hey, Matt, last week, I was going to ask anything. I had one of those types of questions for Ryan, similar to what you did first hour, but with a real estate question. but while I was on hold I pulled a Chipotle bowl off the top shelf of my fridge and it slipped out of my hand rice, pico, beans from about 5 feet, 6 feet high
Starting point is 00:25:15 all over the kitchen floor and I'm still cleaning up a week later and I'm wondering besides something liquid-based like a stew or a soup what's the worst kind of food you can drop from about 5.5 feet up? What a bizarre question.
Starting point is 00:25:31 I appreciate the call. An egg. An egg, yeah, that does go ahead. It stinks. Appreciate the call. Gloops together. You can't gloop it up, and it's gloopy. That's gloop is not a verb.
Starting point is 00:25:45 Well, it's described it. You just gloop four different ways in one sentence. That was actually an impressive grammar thing by you. No, I like an egg. That's a good answer. And it doesn't wipe up clean. I'll tell you what it's nasty to clean up. blood when you put your hand through a window.
Starting point is 00:26:03 Oh. Because, you know, I still am recovering from this. Yeah. But like when you, when I was in that house, remember, I was trying to close the door, my hand went through the window. When I pulled it back out, I know y'all are eating. I'm sorry about this. But it went everywhere in the kitchen.
Starting point is 00:26:27 It was not a good scene all the way around. Easter weekend we had family over and I went to make coffee and as I turned around I hadn't set it up completely and it was just pouring all over my kitchen floor and all over the house. That was fun. Did you hear what happened in Spain and Portugal yesterday? Tell me about it. Almost the entirety of Spain and Portugal
Starting point is 00:26:47 went out like lost power all day. Madrid, Lisbon, Porto, Barcelona kept it, but pretty much all of Portugal and like three-fourths of Spain, the electric grid went off. It was in the middle of the workday, and it was out until that night. And there was apparently in Madrid and Lisbon absolute chaos. The traffic lights stopped working. The cell phones stopped working.
Starting point is 00:27:14 Public transportation, which is a big thing there, stopped working. And so the whole city, and nobody, because of all that, nobody knew what happened. And apparently, especially in Madrid, it was... chaos, people panicking, not really know what was going on. So I was thinking, like, let's put that in American terms. If New York just lost power and the entire East Coast lost power and didn't have a way to check their cell phone or anything or to take the subway or all of that, what happens in 2020?
Starting point is 00:27:50 I mean, that happened, 2025. That happened on 9-11, but people weren't as dependent on cell phones and stuff, then what if it happened now? No power. Couldn't check TV. And your immediate thoughts, I think it's a terrorist attack at some point. I think that's what a lot of people probably would immediately go to. It's another terrorist attack.
Starting point is 00:28:09 It would be kind of like, just think about if that happened in that moment, what you would do. You can't turn on the television, all the power's out, you don't even know who to ask. You're in a huge city. I think the only thing you could do is get on the radio. Battery operated. But it would have to be a battery operated radio. You couldn't even listen on your phone or plug it in, so you would have to have a battery operated radio.
Starting point is 00:28:38 But even the radio station, we'd be out of power. Is the technology changed on the radio side to where they would need it? I don't know. I think it would kind of be chaos, don't you think? Yeah. It's a good example to keep listening to the radio. I mean, we see what happens just when, like, the flights have an issue, and the whole country stops moving for a few minutes.
Starting point is 00:28:58 Well, apparently Madrid yesterday, which I've been to, that's a massive city. I just can't imagine what that, and it didn't fix for like eight hours. So it'd be interesting to be part of that. Get back to our roots as you may. I'd rather not find out. We'll take a break. Be right back. KSR.
Starting point is 00:29:15 T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J. He'll make them pay. Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stock. In Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. Apparently, Old Gray Mayor, Shannon, is one of the fight songs for Murray State. I didn't know that. That feels like a horrible fight song. I just know it from my childhood.
Starting point is 00:29:35 I thought everybody. But think about what a horrible fight son that would be. The old gray mayor ain't what he used to be. Oh, here we come. Here we come. We're going to beat you. Not as good as we used to be, but we're here. We're getting a little old.
Starting point is 00:29:47 I'm just good as I ever was. But I'm as good once as I ever was. All right. That's an interesting fight song for Murray State. 859-280-2287. Text machine, you all out of here? 772-774-5254. So before we go back to phone,
Starting point is 00:30:10 we've got to talk about the latest on the Belichick thing. Oh, my goodness. TMZ reports that in addition to the girlfriend, interrupting and asking questions. At one point during the interview, she stormed out, left for 30 minutes, and looked at Bill Belichick, assuming he would come as well. The interview paused for him to go talk to her, and then they came back, and when they came back,
Starting point is 00:30:44 that was when we see the video of her interrupting the question. But she stormed out. The thing also said, he showed up, at the interview. It was for his book, and there was no one from North Carolina, and no one from the book company there. It was just him and his girlfriend. And Tony DeCopold thought it was so awkward that they stopped the interview early,
Starting point is 00:31:12 and then they were supposed to interview walking on the football field, and they just canceled that part of the interview. She's making him seem like he's incapable of making his own decisions. It sounds like what they said they did with Joe Biden during the election. And I say that as someone who likes Joe Biden, but when you hear some of the stories about how they were very careful, how they used him and when they talked to him and all that. He doesn't strike me as not having his faculties.
Starting point is 00:31:40 But they're making it appear that way. The way she's acting, to me, it's way to come across. But it does seem a little bit like that, you know? I'm impressed with her audacity to do all this stuff. I mean, and the story notes, you know, normally in those interviews, like a publicist would come, you know, like other people in the camp. Well, when I was going, when I wrote my book before, remember, I was supposed to do like a three-week press tour and then COVID canceled it. And I was supposed to do all these things. And there was going to be someone from the book company with me at every stop.
Starting point is 00:32:10 And I'm low on the total pole. So presumably for Belichick, he might have had a ton of people on the total, and none of them, up goal. Almost a TBSZ story noted how, like, CBS executives had to step in and figure out how they even, you know, turn the interview into something because it was so awkward. Like it took, like, it was like an all hands on deck how we're going to make this package. So, Shannon, you've been like all about this relationship. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:37 You've been like Bill Belichick is, I'm happy for him. He's 71. He's got this young, beautiful woman. As this stuff starts coming out, still happy for him, starting to wonder about it, like where Where are you on it now? I still like it. I call him Beta Bill because, you know, I thought that he was once this guy that was a big, you know, authority figure. And now it just takes a 24-year-old woman to run his life, apparently.
Starting point is 00:33:03 But you still think it's positive? Yeah. Yeah, 74. He's got a 24-year-old girlfriend. The thing about all this, I don't understand. I don't understand why they won't, why they won't say how they met again. Is there maybe something to the story not accurate? I heard a rumor.
Starting point is 00:33:23 Okay. This is just a rumor. This is not fact. It's a rumor. That part of, that when they met, maybe he, like, signed her textbook. Yeah, that's part of the story. Yeah. We've heard that.
Starting point is 00:33:38 That's like out there. Yeah. Oh, it is. Yeah. I thought that was the story of how they met. She got his autograph, and that's how they started talking. So why change it now, though? I mean, that's weird enough.
Starting point is 00:33:49 why would you change it? Why not just go with that? I don't know why they're trying to change the narrative. That's why I said, you know, this guy respected man, his reputation in the NFL is great, but now it's making it appear that he can't make decisions on his own without her right there. North Carolina football decisions.
Starting point is 00:34:05 So the T.M.Z story says North Carolina people are starting to become concerned about it. I just keep thinking about, like, T.J. Beisner is one of these people. Yeah. Like TJ, I mean, it would be like Shannon being one of the people. Like, this is TJ is working there. Half a bill. You know, if you were North Carolina, it's not just that North Carolina's a college.
Starting point is 00:34:33 It's also like a prestigious academic college. It's one of the best public colleges in America. You know? I think the UNC thing's crazier than the interview. The interviews get all the attention because it was on CBS. But what coach has their girlfriend C-Ced on every email and is involved on every decision? That probably doesn't happen anywhere. And then you add it's the legend Bill Belichick who couldn't be told anything for many years.
Starting point is 00:34:57 And she's 25. Yeah. How long before Ryan adds yoga girl to our group text so she can CC on everything? I think that would be great. Let me ask you this. Would you watch a reality show of these two? Oh, yes. Yes.
Starting point is 00:35:10 Yes. Yes. Yes. It would be the, like, I would watch it tomorrow. I'm, I'll be honest. Like, people can roll their eyes. I am fascinated by. But your comparison to Biden is good, and I think it's not North Carolina. Maybe he should be concerned.
Starting point is 00:35:26 Maybe he is slipping. But when he talks, he doesn't sound like he's slipping. Yeah. But, you know, there would be moments with Joe Biden where he didn't sound like. Like, when he gave that state of the union speech, and it seemed like he was on cocaine. You remember when he, like, got up there and he was, if you had just seen that, you would think he was completely, like, good. But I don't think it's that.
Starting point is 00:35:50 I just think she's just very controlling. He allows her to be. He does. He seems totally fine with it. I like that she was budding in on, like, football comments that he was making. Yeah, they asked her, they asked a football question, and she butts in. No, no, that's not how we run the offense here. That's not what we do this.
Starting point is 00:36:07 We don't be saying that. I'm going to have a headset on on the side of the season. You know what? I want her to have a headset. I want, I want. Listen, you know what? If she has a headset on the sideline, I'm just going to salute the woman and go, nice job.
Starting point is 00:36:25 She was on the field for their spring practice. She's like on the field with the coaches. If she has a headset. That would be great. She's like, coach, she gets one of those iPads out. She's pointing to. Do you think she'd be on the sideline of the booth? I think she's an awesome.
Starting point is 00:36:39 Side line. She's definitely a sideline person. Who's next? Megan. Megan. Go ahead, Megan. Hey, guys. First time caller, long time listener.
Starting point is 00:36:48 Who are? I have two questions. So, number one, have you all heard any updates on Travis Perry? Okay. And number two, my husband and I, we're going to the Reds and Guardians game. And while we beat the breaks off the Reds, I wanted to know if there was any fun activities that you guys would recommend. Well, first of all, let's do the Travis Perry thing.
Starting point is 00:37:14 What is the latest on Travis Perry? Old Miss is recruiting him, Florida, Alabama, a lot of other schools. Maryland's in the mix now? Yeah, apparently Old Miss and Maryland, from what I understand, have sort of made them the largest priority. You know, he turned out Old Miss once. I think if you were to just make a bet, wouldn't you bet it's Old Miss in the end? I thought they've been the leader since the moment he got in the portal.
Starting point is 00:37:40 And I don't know any update since he's been taking all these visits. But even if you go back to his high school recruitment, you could draw like a radius around Lyon County, and they were only considering things within driving distance. And Oxford, I don't know if he still has that mindset this time around, but Oxford from Western Kentucky is only about an hour and hour and a half more than Lexington. So I think if they're still considering proximity to home, that only helps the Ole Miss case compared to some of these others he's looking at.
Starting point is 00:38:04 But I don't know if he still has that same nonsense as he did in his high school. Let's say he goes to Ole Miss. Do you think he, does he start at a school like that? It's going to be tough because he's still going to have to guard the fears and seers and the butlers of the world and the SEC point guards. I mean, imagine him trying to guard Jalen Lowe. Like, he's not going to be able to do that. Could be a long day.
Starting point is 00:38:29 There's talk that Maryland wants him to start. I don't think Chris Beard would want him to start. Chris Beard probably just needs depth and he's liked it. Well, Maryland plays in the Big Ten. I mean, it is, however, a different style of basketball that might be a little more akin to how he would want to play. I also find it interesting that just about everybody that's calling him saw him last year. You know, Maryland's Buzz Williams now. He didn't play a ton in that A&M game.
Starting point is 00:38:51 That's true, yeah, Buzz Williams is there. I know Kentucky fans have been critical of him being able to play at a certain level, but it's the opposing coaches that are wanting him. As far as before a Reds game, I mean, the Banks area right there, there's a ton of like bars and stuff there's not like a whole lot to look at stadium's really nice you know it depends on where you're sitting as to where I would
Starting point is 00:39:12 say you should hang out they've got good nachos down on the left field line what are you laughing at? Good tip right there you're where the best nachos are. That's where the best nachos are is down the left field line you know
Starting point is 00:39:26 the food situation there could be better it's one thing I think they should work on it's better this year than it was last year but it still it still could be better But it's a good atmosphere. And then in the seventh inning, stand up and sing Cincinnati, Ohio. Last night, they only played it for like four seconds. I wonder if they're trying to get rid of it.
Starting point is 00:39:43 Oh. Were you up? Were you up and singing? I did. And then just it stopped and I just look stupid. Cornbread hemp.com promo code KSR. You know the drinks, you all made them to where they're gone. But they should be back in the next week or two.
Starting point is 00:39:59 Until then, full spectrum flower-only hemp CBD. gummies, they got berry flavor, watermelon. I've kind of switched from the berry to the watermelon, because the watermelon seems to me to be a little cozy. But go to cornbreadhimp.com, promo code KSR, rest, relax with our good friends at cornbread hemp, and then get ready for the seltzers to come back. They are quite a hit. They are. Like I said, my fridge got emptied pretty quick with them. Yeah, we'll take a break. Be right back to Kentucky Sports Radio. Last night, a blown call changed the game. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing. And we're still chasing it. And we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth. Are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro.
Starting point is 00:41:59 Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person. Starting point is 00:42:19 This is Clivert Taylor the Fourth. And on my podcast, The Cliverts Show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff, like being an internet famous referee. We're in the middle of a. game. This linebacker walks up to me, he goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Quarterback on office blue 42. Hey, rec, my mama want you to wave at her.
Starting point is 00:42:43 What? Hey, Ms. Parker. Listen to the Cliverts show on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. What's up, fam, this Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about Default. find the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what.
Starting point is 00:43:09 He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reed. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense.
Starting point is 00:43:35 And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He run up the court licking his fingers while he got the ball. Like, after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome back. Final segment, Kentucky Sports Radio.
Starting point is 00:44:05 This segment is sponsored by the Kentucky Skin Cancer Center. If you need a skin examination by a dermatologist, you should go check them out, catch stuff early. They have locations in Owensboro, Bowling Green, Franklin, and Powderley, Kentucky. Where is Powderley? I've heard of it. I don't know where that is. That's over on my side of the state, I think.
Starting point is 00:44:23 Do you may know where Powderley is? Yeah, Mulemberg County. Muleberg. It's in Mielenberg. I have never heard of that. Well, they have one there as well. We are going to be at the Ketlandlander. Kentucky Skin Cancer Center in Owensboro next Friday.
Starting point is 00:44:37 So next Friday, if you're in Owensboro, you can come see KSR at the Kentucky Skin Cancer Center. They have only 1,500 5-star reviews. Check it out. Erase your mind and take care of your skin concern by making an appointment. You can call 270842 1999 or Kentucky Skin Cancer Center.com. I'm a big advocate, by the way, of going and getting that stuff checked. There's a lot. You catch it early.
Starting point is 00:45:00 You know, I've had a mole scraped off my face already. I actually have another one I'm getting scraped off here in a few weeks. Go to Kentucky Skin Cancer Center. Just get it tested and then you don't have to worry about it. I've had family with some serious issues. It's very important to go get stuff checked out. Yes. Drew, we didn't get to talk about you were an actor.
Starting point is 00:45:21 I was. Well, not was. Still am, I would say. Oh. Yeah. How did it go? It went very well. Had a lot of fun.
Starting point is 00:45:30 It was very informed. So if you slipped up, there wasn't too much pressure. But I'll say when I signed up, I wasn't sure what I'm getting myself into. But, you know, memorizing lines isn't easy. I didn't even have that many. And I put a lot of work into getting it done. Also, just knowing where you're supposed to be, stand, which way to go off the stage. Come on to the stage.
Starting point is 00:45:49 Yeah, exit stage. I heard through the grapevine, Shannon, that Drew had a cue where he was supposed to come on the air and he come on the set. And he didn't, and it turns out he was at the bar. No, no, no. That's not true. That's not true? It's kind of true. So my first scene, scene four, I'm dancing by myself.
Starting point is 00:46:09 I'm at the Jubilee, and then I kind of pimp walk over to Juliet and start hitting on her. And I was so worried about getting all my lines right, and I nailed my lines. I was supposed to go stand off to the side of the stage, which I did. I forgot I wasn't supposed to completely leave. I did go to the bar while I was still supposed to be on scene. and I was watching the scene on TV, and I remembered, oh, yeah, I'm still supposed to be out there. So I just tiptoed back on and winked at the director, and we were all good. But I was way in the back corner.
Starting point is 00:46:38 It happens sometimes. I mean, I've been to productions of Hamlet where sometimes Hamlet just forgets to be there, and is at the bar, Lady Macbeth, similar things. I was so focused on my lines. I forgot, don't completely leave. Yeah, you do need to try to stay on stage, simply joking down to five to one. In 24 hours. I'm just saying.
Starting point is 00:46:59 You're going to go off as the favorite. Wouldn't it be funny upon the broadcasts? They're like, why is this horse the favorite? What has happened that has made this horse the favorite? On my play, you did get a shout out with some improv. I had to yell something, sir, to Juliet's dad. I forget something capulet maybe. Anyway, he said, I'm not Matt Jones.
Starting point is 00:47:19 You don't have to call me, sir. He improvved. There's a lot of going off script at the end when I die. I don't think this was in Bill Shakespeare's original version, but in my sword fight, Romeo goes, look, Rick Patino, and I turn around and then get stabbed. So as it went on, people were getting a little loose with their lines. Fair enough. Have you seen Drew's Pimp Walk, though?
Starting point is 00:47:38 That's been the star of the show. We're not on the Pimp Walk. Yeah, a lot of people liked it. Well, I heard you did a good job. Wraise a lot of money. That was the point. It was for charity. We had a lot of fun.
Starting point is 00:47:45 I'd do it again. I recommended Ryan for next year. You better take them up on it. Oh. Well, I think you'd be good at that. Who's up next, Shannon? Jamie. Jamie.
Starting point is 00:47:53 Go ahead, Jamie. Yes, sir. On some of your questions earlier. How early is it between Greenville and Central City? Okay. The second question that y'all was talking about, Travis Perry, should have went to Maryland over the weekend. They've offered twice as much as anybody else has.
Starting point is 00:48:13 Okay. Third, the racetrack opens at 5.30 of a morning. They've got hundreds of horses to get out. They can't get them out all at the same time. so the derby slash preakness horses they set the track down from everybody from 715
Starting point is 00:48:31 to 730 and those horses are the only ones that work out where it's not anybody else out there a bunch of horses sir I feel like you you said all of that with such confidence that I feel like all of it's true believe you're 715
Starting point is 00:48:47 to 730 well how do you know how much Travis Perry was offered for Maryland though that feels like a very specific thing for you to know. Well, I do know. I'm going to play golf with him in two weeks. Okay. Down here in Madisonville.
Starting point is 00:49:03 All right, I believe you. I believe you. Yeah. Okay. Well, he won this tournament down here. Shot 19 under out Lakeshore. Oh, Lake Shore. They'll win it again.
Starting point is 00:49:15 Travis Perry. Hang on just a second. Travis Perry shot 19 under? The team did. Oh, the team. Okay. We played best ball. You have four-man scramble.
Starting point is 00:49:24 It's 19-under. Well, good. And he's going to play again to 19th, and I'm waiting on a phone call from Wagner's pharmacy there in Louisville for y'all to do the radio place. Sir, I like you. I like everything about you. I like your confidence. You're helping the show. What was your name again?
Starting point is 00:49:46 Jamie, is that right? Yes, sir. Jamie, thank you very much. You're a nice fellow. I appreciate. Okay, Matt, if I get it pulled off, Wagner, do you want me to call y'all back? Of course.
Starting point is 00:49:59 No, no. Send the text to the text machine. 772-774-5254. Yeah, do that. And then if we can. Wagners would be a great place if they have a hookup for us, yes. Yeah. Thank you very much.
Starting point is 00:50:12 Appreciate it. There you go. Good Madisonville guy there. Shout-out. I didn't doubt one thing that dude said. He said that was such confidence. Yes, he did. How could you not?
Starting point is 00:50:21 Somebody asked on the text machine, we were talking about Perry, Trent Noah, what is his peak? Like, let's say he hits his peak. This is the best Trent Noah can be. Give me an analogy of how good a player. Like, what is Trent Noah's peak? Well, first, let's not forget he's built beautifully, I believe, is what Mark Pope said a few weeks ago. Beautiful. I could see him, you know, if he gets in the weight room, gets his athleticism a little better,
Starting point is 00:50:50 I could see him on down the road becoming a starter on the wing and playing. You mean an example of a player that you would say you would like to see him get to X point? It's kind of lame because it's a Kentucky guy, but like the Derek Willis role, he's never going to be the guy, but playing lots of minutes and knock down threes when you're open. It's interesting. Derek Willis, I think they're built a little different. They are. I think he could both be a little better than Derek, but also not quite as good as.
Starting point is 00:51:18 I mean, Derek has size that he didn't have. I mean, more just being like the fourth or fifth option offensively and hit your shots. I mean, by the end, Derek was really good. What about you? Alex Poitrous? He's not that explosive at all. I mean, like, you're talking about like one of the most athletic dudes we've had. But being strong and can shoot the ball and come in and give you some good minutes.
Starting point is 00:51:39 It's hard on the caler, because he didn't have anyone that was a little athletically behind. You know, what about the kid at Clemson last year? That guy If he was as successful as that Dude to Clemson, that would be a huge success Tren's got a little more outside game than that guy does He was all YMCA inside But no, I could see that
Starting point is 00:52:00 I mean, it's just a thought Like that kid was good by the end of his time Thanks to Weisenberger Who brought us some food products Seven generations there We will see you tomorrow.
