Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.

Welcome to Hour 2 of Kentucky Sports Radio, presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Now here's Matt Jones.
All right, welcome back, Kentucky Sports Radio.
Hour number two, Ryan, Drew, Shannon, and Mario, Billy has left us for a short minute.
Before we get to our draft, I got a couple texts from the Aviation Glass Text Machine.
Ryan, you looked like you would be a nickelback fan.
What the heck does that mean?
What does that mean?
What does that mean, Shannon?
I don't know.
I don't know what that means.
You're the one that read the tweet.
We were talking about injuries, famous injuries of the past.
We forgot a couple good ones.
Mike Casey broke his femur in the summer of 1989 on a stacked team.
Everybody talks about that one.
And then in the 80s, Sam Bowie missed like basically two straight years with fractures and broken bones.
So those are a couple good ones from back in the day.
some injuries.
Yeah, those belong near the top of the conversation as ones that really hurt those teams.
I had a guy come up and asked me one time.
He said, okay, do you know who the all-time leading score from Kentucky in UK basketball history?
You'll be able to get this one.
All-time leading score in Kentucky basketball history from Kentucky.
How far back do I have to go?
Give me a little hint.
Seventies.
Oh, good.
I don't know.
Yeah, you do.
You know him.
You talk to him all the time.
Jack Givens?
Jack Givens.
Okay.
Yeah, I guess that was easier than I thought.
He was third overall.
So he's the all-time UK basketball leading score from Kentucky.
And the guy said, who's number two?
Still going far back?
Yes.
I guess Melvin Turpin.
That was not right.
I can't even name that many that were from Kentucky.
Well, this may surprise you.
It's Mike Casey.
Oh, still even after the...
Yes.
Mike Casey is the second leading Kentucky basketball
score from Kentucky.
Mike Casey, I think right after that was like Ralph Beard and then Melvin Turpin maybe.
May have those backwards.
But Mike Casey, a forgotten guy, which kind of gets us into our draft here.
Here's our draft.
We're going to come up with the guys.
I call it the no-name draft.
The guys you forgot played at Kentucky.
So we're going to go around and see we can come up with enough to fill at least a starting five.
I have some real questions.
Okay.
One, it's going to be hard to do if they're forgotten.
but I like this game.
I'm going to have to really dig back in the memory bank.
But am I trying to build the best team of guys that have gotten gotten lost in history?
Yes.
Or just the most obscure.
You forgot they even were at the end of the bench.
I think we should try to build like the worst team.
Okay.
I like that too.
The most obscure.
Because I have a few guys that were good that I think people genuinely forgot they played.
Okay.
I agree with you guys.
Shannon, you and Drew.
Let's do the...
Boy, said two different things.
Yeah. Most obscure...
I'm going to build one that can beat your all's obscure team with the guys that were still
pretty forgotten. Okay. All right. And the reason this came up the other day during our
Tubby Smith draft, you brought up Recallin Sims. I thought, oh my gosh, I completely forgot.
That guy played for Kentucky. He's an example of the direction. I'm going to go. I feel like he
was pretty good. You just kind of forgot he existed. All right. We'll give you first draft then.
First draft picks. Shan, you go second. I'll go last. I'm going to go to one that's kind of
recent, and he will probably be the best person that's named in this entire exercise. And he's
currently in the NBA on a team in the playoffs.
Oh, my.
I think people completely forget that Ian Jackson played at the University of Kentucky.
Ian Jackson.
He's my center.
His first name was Ian?
Ian Jackson.
I-A-N Jackson.
I didn't realize his first name was Ian.
What did you think his name was?
You've forgotten him so much that...
When did he play in Kentucky?
See, I'm already nailing this exercise.
No, wait, I'm saying Ian Jackson's the recruit.
I've even messed it up.
What is it?
Isaiah Jackson.
See, I even messed it up there.
Ian Jackson's the recruit.
We're just looking at.
I don't remember that either.
I'm the one that got it so obscure.
Sorry, first pick.
He was that bad.
I got his first name wrong.
So obscure.
You got his name wrong.
I just made a great example of this game.
I got his name wrong with the first pick, and he is very good.
So you're going with Isaiah Jackson.
Sorry, my...
Nice for the Pacers.
I had Jackson from the transfer portal was fresh on my brain.
We're off to a great start.
Great start.
I got a name wrong.
All right, dude?
Maybe I didn't understand the assignment,
because I thought we were supposed to put together the no-name guys that nobody even
remembers played here, but actually did play here.
So I was doing some, you know, a little research before we got to this segment,
and I've got a bunch of no names that you probably don't even realize played at Kentucky.
That's perfect.
Go for it, too.
Go for it.
Okay.
Make sure you get there first and last name right to do a little better than I did.
Do you have Ian Jackson on your list?
No, but I do have a Henry Thomas from the 1990-91 team.
Oh, I know Henry.
He's a good dude.
Oh, yes.
He's a good dude.
I see him around town here all the time.
Oh, he's a no-name as far as I'm concerned.
But that's perfect.
That's a great example.
I think Henry was one of the holdovers from.
Eddie Sutton to Rick Petino.
You know, there's just a couple guys that were holdovers.
I think Henry was one of those guys and played for Patino in his early years.
But we're not off to a good start because he's going to get on the NBA and I've got a guy that you run into it.
Save a lot.
Okay.
It's a great start because I didn't know his name.
I'm going to go with Joey Hart.
Oh, he was on my list.
Yeah.
Joey Hart.
Slam dunk champion Joey Hart.
Won the Big Blue Madness Dunk.
That's right.
Man, you took my starting two guard.
All right.
So I get two picks.
there you go.
Snake drafted.
I'll go Cameron Fletcher.
That's my wing.
Unbelievable.
Same brain here.
At least I didn't guess Ian Jackson.
All right, Shannon, you go next.
All right.
Did you know there was a guy that played here back in 2005 and 2006 named Adam Williams?
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Of course.
I'm going to put him on my team then.
He's from the Huntington, West Virginia area, and he ended up going back to Marshall.
His dad was his high school coach in West Virginia.
Tubby brought him over.
Back court is set.
Henry Thomas and Adam Williams.
Look out.
Nobody's beating this team.
All right, Drew, you have two picks now.
I got Isaiah Jackson's wrong name.
That's embarrassing.
I'm going to my backup wing
since you took Cameron Fletcher.
All right.
This guy was my Twitter profile picture for a month or two.
Khalil the Dragon Whitney.
Oh, that's a good one.
I thought he was going to be an all-time Caliperi great here,
and he didn't even finish the season.
That's a good one.
That's a good one.
Yeah, he left in January.
I got his name wrong.
Right, so I'm off doing a little better here.
All right, do you get another pick?
I'm going to go to my, I need another guard since you took Joey Hart.
I'm going to go with Alex Legion from the Billy Gillespie.
Oh, that's a good one.
So you're picking, guys, that are decent.
My team's terrible.
But people don't really remember them.
I mean, I could name a guy at the end of the bench that maybe people didn't even know.
That's why I'm going.
I'm getting tried to get some good players.
Good players that are also lost in history.
All right, Shannon, your pick.
All right.
I need a forward now.
Well, okay.
What about Nate Knight?
Yeah, that's exactly who I was going to pick.
No, you weren't.
Yes, it was.
He was number five.
Too bad.
I got him.
Tubby brought him in, and he left before Christmas, I think.
I think he was only here like one semester.
That's a great pick.
Tall white guy.
And people thought he was going to be a good player, and he just didn't do anything.
I don't know where he went after that.
All right.
I'm going to go, gosh, what's he's,
I can't think of his name.
It's all right. Clearly we're getting names wrong in this forgotten player draft.
Is it Charles Young?
We ended up going to play in Michigan?
No.
What was his name?
Charles Matthews.
Charles Matthews.
I love that we're getting names wrong, though.
It's a little disrespectful of these guys, but that's the point of this game.
All right, I'll take Charles Matthews, and then, gosh, since he took Nate and I was going to be my big guy.
I don't have any big guys at all.
Can we pick?
Oh, man.
No.
I got one.
What? Myron Anthony.
Good pick.
Myron Anthony.
I have a real question.
Did they have to actually appear in a game?
Not necessarily.
Okay. Carry on.
Okay. All right. Shannon, your pick.
All right, I'm going to go with my biggest guy.
Jared Carter.
Oh, that's a good one. I should have thought of that.
Jared.
I also on my list.
Loved a good olive garden trip, according to Matt, back in the original KSR days.
And according to Shigarieline,
No-Met works harder and smarter than Jared Carter.
Go ahead.
You got two picks, Drew.
Since you said they don't have to actually appear in a game,
how can we forget maybe the best practice player to ever play Matt Pilgrim?
Matt Pilgrim.
The Beast, Matt Pilgrim.
I'm also going to stick in the Billy Gillespie area with my next pick.
I feel like I need another guard.
Kevin Galloway.
That's a good one.
Kevin Galloway.
I've got a squad.
I haven't been writing this down.
I'm not sure if I have.
If I'm doing it positionally, it's right, or if I've gotten their names right.
But I like what I have so far.
You've got Isaiah Jackson, Kalil Whitney, Alex Legion, Matt Pilgrim and Kevin Galloway.
Oh, goodness.
Shannon, here's your last pick.
Well, I got one, but I don't know if this qualifies or not as a no-name guy.
Because he went to the league, Scowell-Libisier?
Would that be?
I think Scal is a good one because if people look back on the Cal era at players,
he's probably going to be pretty far down your list before he pops in your brain.
I think I'm going to allow it also.
because there's a lot of times I can't even remember his name.
I remember who was the big guy that was the number one pick?
Supposedly he came here and they ended up being the eighth man.
I can see his face and could not remember his name.
How deep are we going on the bench?
This is a fun game.
I really like trying to testing my brain here.
All right.
We'll keep going then.
I'm going to stay in the tubby era.
I got two picks.
Ryan Hogan and Michael Bradley.
Do I get to pick Michael Bradley?
Did he get picked in the actual draft?
We went after he transferred to
Bill and Ova.
No, no, I mean our
tubby billy draft.
He came up.
I don't know if anybody got him.
No, it's a great pick.
Okay, I'll pick Michael Bradley.
All right, Shannon.
How about Sasha Callia Jones?
Oh, that's a good one.
That's really a good one.
Great.
Sasha Callia Jones.
All right, Drew, you got two picks.
Let's be your two bench players.
Yeah, I've been pretty recent.
I'm going to get a forward who has a ring on his finger.
One Oliver Simmons, Big Cheeto.
That's a good one.
Oliver Simmons.
He and Jeff Shepard were my coaches in Petinos camp.
So a shout out to Oliver Simmons.
You get another pick.
Do I need a guard or big?
Really, there aren't many bigs that are even on anybody's list other than Jared Carter.
Well, Isaiah Jackson could be a big.
Yeah, I didn't pick him.
I picked a freshman from North Carolina.
I need shooting.
How about Darnell Dotson?
Well, we'll allow it.
Darnel Dodson.
Did you remember him up from the Caliperia era?
Oh, of course.
He was Calipari's first team.
But does he come to your brain when you're thinking back at that time?
No.
Pretty far down the list for me.
Not on that team.
If he fits within the rules or doesn't fit within the rules, let me know.
And I'll get more obscure.
I could go to Steve Masiello as a walk-on from the Patino era, Tubby era.
Shannon's your pick.
All right.
I got two here.
I don't know which ones.
You may not allow one of these, but what about B.J. Boston?
Is he too good?
Who's your other one?
I think we just try to forget that entire team.
Okay. Quade Green?
Quade. I'll allow that one, though.
You allow that one?
Yeah.
Okay.
Quade came supposed to be the point guard, and then he ended up delegated to coming off the bench when Shea exploded.
Oh, I had another one, too. I just thought.
I've had it. Just keep picking.
Ryan Harrow?
Oh, man.
That's actually a good one.
We're starting to play the...
The down years of the Calipari game.
Yeah.
Man, I'm struggling now.
Did anybody say Cameron Fletcher?
Yeah.
Yeah, I said him.
He was quickly off the board.
It's a good pick.
Still in college basketball, by the way.
Still transferring around.
Devin Askew is too.
Askew could be another one on the list.
I'm trying to think of a big guy.
I don't have any big guys.
What about Jason Parker?
Does he qualify?
Kind of, because he really never got to play.
Ryan, what about your boy Eloy?
Elo is a good one.
I'm going Eloy Vargas.
There you go.
Anto I'm taking.
He's my big guy.
Eloy Vargas.
He was my son's favorite player.
Came to my house, shot baskets with Michael in the driveway,
and then took him to the movie theater, took him to a movie.
I remember that well.
You're a big Eloy guy.
A big Eloy guy.
All right, that's seven.
That's our rosters, I believe.
Are you happy with your roster?
Yeah, especially when I found out I got Isaiah Jackson.
Not Ian Jackson.
Well, that's just good.
He was your first pick.
The first pick in the draft, the team of Drew Franklin Selects,
The team of Drew Franklin Selects.
Ian Jackson.
Yeah, I went.
he was also in my brain. I went all the way way up in the Bronx to watch Ian Jackson in high school.
So I'm just got a lot of fond Ian Jackson memories that were thrown off my brain there.
And Isaiah hasn't played all year for the patient.
I had a few others on my board that weren't selected by anybody.
Okay, who are they? Preston LeMaster.
Oh, Preston's a good one. Yeah.
Is it Adam Childs?
Yes, Adam Chiles?
That's a tubby guy from Ballard, Louisville Ballard.
Jason Lathrim for the 95-90-16.
Yeah, there you go.
Heard. Oliver Simmons, Jason Lathrimons.
going back to, I think it was Petino's first year, Jody Thompson.
Completely forgot about him. I would not even come up with him at all.
Billy Gillespie had a roster that had about 25 people on it. You could go all day with that one.
If you could name like all eight Billy Gillespie walk-ons, you got a team right there just of those guys.
How about some Kerry Benson or some Morricino Williams?
Shcherbisky?
Yeah, Matt Shurbinski? Yeah.
A little Dwight Perry, Dusty Mills.
Who is the dude that stuck his girlfriend in the suitcase and Will, we'll be?
their end of the lodge.
Ty Winyard.
Ty Winyard.
He was the lumberjack.
Yeah, that's right.
I love they.
Throwing out some stories.
I don't think we've ever told on radio.
All right, we'll take our break.

Great song.
I know you can't hear it on the podcast.
But if you ever, as soon as I hear the song,
now I think of the show mass singer.
I got into the mass singer during COVID, watched like a bunch of series.
I loved it. It was funny.
I've always wondered who watches that show.
Me. Yeah, that's the dumbest show.
You watch that? You actually watch that?
Yeah, during COVID a couple of times. One time they had Brett Michaels on. He was like a banana, I think.
That's a good way to sell it. I can't believe we missed that.
Nick Carter.
It was under Clint Black.
We had some good singers on there.
So just so I get astray, they come out and they're in a discreet.
guys and they sing and you just guess?
Yeah. Yeah, you try to guess
who it is by just hearing their voice. And they
assume sing other people's songs? Yes.
Okay. Yeah. Yeah. I'll catch
the next season. Well, I've not seen it in probably
five years. It's COVID, but I did
during COVID watch several seasons of it.
We all did weird stuff in COVID. I watched
Tiger King every night.
Jennifer and I were just talking about that.
What, those series we watched during COVID,
Squid Games, Tiger King.
I don't think there's
anyone on Earth that watched Tiger King
more than me. Well, Shannon,
you and Shannon loved it.
That's great show. 859-2802-287
got a lot of people on the A Vision Glass Text Machine
texting me players that no-name players
we kind of forgot about. Shiree Thomas.
Bernard Cote.
I think Sharray got drafted
in our tubby draft. I think he may have, yeah.
Bernard Cote, that's a great one.
Corey Sears.
Matt Heisenbottle.
Todd Barup.
Jonathan Davis.
Rob Locke.
Mike Scott. Junior Braddy is a good one. Josh Carrier, J.P. Blevens, Todd Tackett. That one class.
JP Blevin's, happy birthday, by the way. You said there's like five guys got a birthday today.
Yeah, let me think about it. I can do it off top of my head. It's JP Blevins, Shimu Evans, Jared Poulson,
Adieu, Jacob Toppin. Very good.
Finally, I'm pretty sure. I think that's not their birthday. Do you have that on your calendar?
I wrote it on the website this morning. I was up.

Happy birthday last week and happy Mother's Day coming up this weekend.
Thank you, son.
Did you ever hide behind the bushes from cross-country?
Never.
I never did that.
What did you do, Ryan?
No, they're making up stories now.
They weren't there.
So you tried to get out of running and hit behind bushes?
Of course I did.
Of course I did.
Who wants to go out and run five miles for fun?
Nobody.
So, yeah, our coach would make us run,
and I would just hide behind some bushes.
and when they'd make the loop and come back, I just joined the crowd then.
So when you got caught, did they make you run even more?
I don't think I ever got caught.
I was good at it.
Okay.
I was going to.
You know, my dad was my coach in high school.
And we had in the fall, he'd have the basketball players out running on the track.
Well, I played tennis in the fall.
I didn't know he could see from the track to the tennis court,
and the girls' cross-country team ran by one time, and I mooned them.
Oh, my goodness.
My dad is up on the track and saw every second of it.
So that got me some extra running, didn't it, Dad?
Yeah, you're dead.
You deserved every bit of it.
No, I'm going to know.
All right.
I'll see you guys.
I'll see you guys.
You betcha.
Bye, guys.
All right.
Good to hear from you.
That's my mom.
And your dad.
So you didn't know that was coming?
No, I had no idea was coming.
Yeah, she's, you know, I get hammered.
Her birthday is one weekend.
and the next weekend's Mother's Day.
You know, I got a hammered back-to-back weekend.
So I'm going to go after our trip in Owensburg tomorrow.
I'm going to go up to Jasper and see Mom and Dad
go out to eat with them and hang out with them for a little bit.
You get hammered to celebrate your mom's birthday?
I might.
Do you get two different gifts or just kind of combine it in one?
Well, it's kind of the pickle you're in.
What do you do?
I know it's a tough spot.
I get it.
One for each.
You've got to celebrate her birthday and then you celebrate Mother's Day.
It's like Shannon's birthday is four days before Christmas.
That's right.
You got birthday and then Christmas back.
And while you see her, if you don't mind, if you get some of those deviled eggs.
Yeah, that would be great.
They are the best.
I thought of a draft we could also do and say, I'll read them off to save time.
But how about the all Billy Gillespie Recutting team?
Guys like Hunter McClintock.
Forgot that name.
The eighth grader, Michael Avery.
G.J. Villarino.
Ended up at LSU, I think.
What was it, Dakota?
Ooten.
Ooten?
Is that eight pronounced it?
Casey Ross Miller?
He, maybe he ended up in the LSU.
One of those guys ended up at LSU?
you.
Dominique Ferguson was a big name when he got him.
From Indianapolis?
Billy cast a wide net for his two Kentucky basketball rosters.
I think he would have had 50 players if it was within the rules.
Okay, who's the dude that went to GRC, went to Clark County High School?
He ended up playing, I think, at Western.
I'm not going to get that one.
Big guy or?
Yeah, it's kind of a big guy.
Somebody else texts us let us know.
859-280-2-870.
Send it to the text machine.
We'll get that.
Phone lines are open.
You want to call and get on board.
I do want to, a couple other notes I want to talk about.
UK baseball team, big weekend, back-to-back big series coming up.
Right now, they're 10 and 14 in the SEC.
They host Oklahoma in a three-game set this weekend,
and then they finish the season at Vanderbilt.
So I check with Worldwide Todd Harris.
Todd said they really need to go three and three in these six games
to secure a spot in the NCAA tournament.
If not, they're going to have to win a couple games,
at least two games, he feels like in the SEC baseball.
tournament. So it's doable. You win the series against Oklahoma, win two of three, then you may
try to steal one at Vanderbilt. You can finish three and three. He feels like that should get them
into the NCAA tournament because right now, I think he said they're in the first four out.
Yeah, Baseball America put out of Bracketology yesterday. I want to say Kentucky was the second or third
team in the last four out category, so just a few spots out of the field. But Oklahoma's
ranked 14th in the country. You're hosting them this weekend in your final home SEC series. If you
win this. I mean, I'm not an expert on
the other teams and who's fighting for
spot in the field, but I feel like if you can win the series
against number 14, Oklahoma and finish strong
at Vandy, hopefully
that will give them the nudge to get in.
They also have a game against Northern
Kentucky tucked in next Tuesday that I don't know
will impact the standing that much, but big
opportunity at home this weekend.
Well, they're limping in right now. They think they've lost
four in a row, so they're kind of limping
into this, but they need to go three and three
in the next two series. They have a top
35 RPI, so that should be good to get
in the NCAA tournament if they only get to 12 SEC wins.
So maybe if they, but he feels like you win three SEC these last six games.
They should get him in for sure.
Yeah, disappointing trip to Starkville after you got hot there for a while.
Began with losing a Western earlier in the week and then you got swept down there.
Getting swept in Starkville really hurt them.
We got time for a quick call, Shannon.
Who we got?
Let's go to Po.
Poe, go ahead, Poe.
Hey, guys.
Hope you doing well.
You can, Poe.
I'm excited about next year's team.
basketball especially.
And as long as we get in jail, like we did last year, you know,
as camaraderie on the team, I think we can do really, really super things.
And I wanted to say, too, that I got a player that's really forgotten about,
but I don't know if you consider him a player,
but he's probably the most talented player.
Not mentioned yet.
Okay, real quick.
forgot about. Sean Kemp.
Sean Kemp. Oh, yeah. That is a good one.
What about Vinnie Zolo?
Oh, that's it. That's the GRC guy. All right, we'll take our break. Come back.
Ryan Drew and Shannon. This is Kentucky Sports Radio.
T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J. He'll make them pay.
Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones.
So the people on the podcast can't hear this, but this is Shinedown, right, Shannon?
Yeah, you were saying that was it your son that was working that event?
Yeah, they had a big concert.
I believe it was Friday, the Derby Eve.
They had a big concert at Rupp Arena.
He said it was packed, but they didn't get done breaking down the stage to like five in the morning, I think.
But I guess they're still really popular.
Oh, yeah, they're one of the biggest rock bands going right now.
But your son gets to go around and enjoy all these concerts and wrestling.
And that's probably a lot of fun, though.
I mean, probably not fun setting it up and taking it down.
But you get to enjoy the show, too, I guess, right?
Well, not necessarily.
Like they set it up, then they have to leave.
Oh, they have to leave? They make them leave?
Oh, yeah. Then they come back.
Sometimes they catch the end of the concert, but they're backstage.
You know, they're not out on the crowd area.
But yeah, they have to leave and then come back.
I think he had to go back at 1030 that night to start breaking it down.
It's tough.

Hard to win the NBA playoffs right now because like the Celtics had the Knicks down by 20 at home.
and I left the KSR bowling league last night
and Seleks were up by 12 get home and Knicks are winning the game
and the night before the Pacers were down 20 at Cleveland
came back on so back to back nights
Pacers came from down 20 on the opponent's home floor and won
Knicks were down 20 last night at Boston
and they came back in Boston Boston these games have been crazy
I turned off the Knicks game last night thinking well it's not going to happen
two nights in a row before that you had Nuggets win with not a buzzer
beat her become a last second three by Aaron Gordon.
It wasn't a close game last night, but Shea, my
goodness, did you see Shea set a record?
His plus minus was 51.
That's insane. They scored 100, what was it?
147, whatever it was. Almost 150
points winning game
two. He was nuts.
It's been a very entertaining few days
for the NBA. It really has been. They need
that. They need this, you know, pick up some momentum
going into the championship series, so I love
it. This is the time of you all like watching the NBA.
so you can bet everything you want on draft kings.
I got to brag on myself on draft kings.
You know how they had the king of the horse thing for Derby?
I didn't realize it, but I logged into my account.
I won $380 in the king where you split the million.
I was one of the people that split the million.
Really?
So cashed that out yesterday.
Didn't even know in the moment.
But my wife, of all people, said,
place a bet on sovereignty, and then I threw a bet on there for it.
Because it was the first one I put in, it goes on to win.
So I ended up making part of that million.
Didn't even know it until yesterday.
Well, good for you.
Happy birthday to Abby.
Her birthday thanks this weekend, right?
It is.
Yes, thank you, D.K. Hors.
Well, you guys were all fun and sun at the bet gala and playing golf.
I decided I'd do a high school baseball game this weekend.
Yeah, tell me about that.
I saw a selfie of you in a young up-and-coming announcer.
What was that all about?
Connor Wilhite.
He covers Scott County Sports.
So he has Connor Sports Talk.
I've been on his podcast, and he does.
does all the Scott County baseball game.
So he invited me to come join him in the broadcast booth for the Scott County Henry
Clay game the night, and I loved it.
I loved everything about it.
I used to do a lot of play-by-play in color for baseball.
So, Shannon, I want to play this clip.
This is Connor doing play-by-play of the Scott County Henry Clay baseball game the
night.
First pitch of a second at that hit into the field.
It's way back and gone!
A two-run, home run from Justin Stevens.
Yaka!
How about that?
Gave me a chance
to do a little yaka right there.
You got that out of the retirement.
You got back off those mics just a little bit.
You were so hot you were clipping the mics.
I know.
It was an exciting point of the game.
Kid hit a two-run home run,
so we had to get excited for it.
We can't make fun of their mics because I don't know if you can tell Ryan.
Can you look at me and see?
Shannon, during the break, my headphones broke.
I didn't do anything that should have done any damage to these headphones.
I gently took them off, and now my left earpiece is just dangling.
We are in studio.
Right in front of GM Billy, you break another headset.
You saw this, Billy.
I just gently took them off my head and they were just broken.
It's a good thing you got that DK. Horse money.
Yeah, Billy, deduct that from his paycheck.
Exactly.
That might buy the cord.
The all-timer was Matt was gone for two and a half weeks and the day he came back.
The very day.
It snapped the headphones.
Broke one of the headphones.
Before the show even started.
I have another question of what you're doing when we were gone, Ryan.
I saw a picture of like a high school gym or some kind of school gym.
and just a video of a very large version of you on the wall.
Was that Photoshopped or what was that?
That was Potter Gray Elementary School.
Oh, it was elementary school, okay?
What was going on?
Why are you on their gym wall?
They ordered a cameo to give a pep talk to the kids because it's testing week this week in Kentucky.
So they wanted me to give them a pep talk to get them ready for testing week.
It started on Monday.
So, yeah, that's what that was.
Did you hit them with a take a knee?
Oh, of course I did.
Play the hits.
You want to play this one?
Yeah.
It's like over a minute long.
Did you take your shirt off?
No, I didn't take my shirt off.
Okay, that's good.
I think I may have scared the kids a little bit.
I just saw a picture, and it was they had blown you up to be the size of the wall, and I wonder what was going on.
Well, you know, you got to get your point across, and when you're doing, you know, you're yelling at your cell phone.
We've got to get these kids excited.
What are we going to do?
Cameo from Ryan Lemon.
Yes, that'll get a motivated to do it.
To do well on their testing.
859-2-802-8-7.
I do want another note I want to bring out.
DeKale Crowdes, would you listen to the show?
You know, I'm very close to him.
He has decided to transfer from Hawaii to Wisconsin.
So he went from, he was at UK for a couple of years,
went to Hawaii, played well.
He scored a couple touchdowns out there,
but he's going from the sunshine and the beaches of Hawaii
to the snow and the wintry north at Madison, Wisconsin.
What do you think of that move?
What a journey.
You go from the farm out there in Hamburg, playing for Douglas.
Yep.
Then just move across the street, play for UK, then across the globe to Hawaii.
And where do you want to end up, Madison, Wisconsin?
I'm not talked to him in a long time.
The last time I talked to him, he was very happy at Hawaii.
He was staying in like a penthouse.
I'd hope so.
Who's not going to like Hawaii?
Amen.
But, you know, on this day of the transfer portal in NIL, he may have gotten a good deal to end up in Madison, Wisconsin.
So now with DeKale at Madda in Wisconsin and Dane at Nebraska,
I don't know if they play each other this year,
but my two Douglas guys are now in the Big Ten.
That's crazy.
Yeah, DeKal had a pretty good year.
I think he had like touchdowns in three or four straight games.
Yeah, he did.
Earned him a spot at another big school.
You know, we don't think too fondly of Wisconsin,
but they have a great football environment and good program,
so good for him.
I'll be watching him from a distance.
I guess it's a big jump for me to go from Hawaii to the Big Ten.
I'm sure he's got a roster spot.
or they wouldn't have gone after him like that.
I just want to give a shout out to him.
It had to have been a tough sell.
You know, hey, I know you're on the beach and it's a why,
but let me, let me tell you what we have here in Wisconsin.
Yeah, coconuts to cheese curds.
Doesn't look like he will play Dane next year.
I googled their schedule on the clock.
They're not playing.
Does not look like that's the game.
Shannon, I want to ask you about this little thing.
I saw this, you know, we stay in a lot of Airbnbs when we're on the road.
Yep.
Now people are like making these themes.
Airbnb.
Like I saw there's an Airbnb for you could stay in like the X-Men Airbnb.
There's a Prince Purple Rain Airbnb.
They've got like 80s Airbnb's.
Would you be more inclined to stay in a themed Airbnb or just stay in the one that we stay in all
the time with Matt when we're on the road somewhere?
Well, I mean, we're just taking the price out of this because I'm sure these themed
Airbnbs are double what a normal Airbnb would be just because of the theme.
But if we're saying don't worry about the money itself, I'll be.
would love to stay in what. I've seen a few of these Airbnbs, they turn into, like, haunted houses where there's all, like, these little jump scare animatronics that they have built in. I would love to go stay at something like that, like a, quote-unquote, haunted house. Wouldn't you like to do something like that? See, I think it would be cool. What do you think?
I'll take a hotel. You all can have your Airbnb's. I'll go to a hotel where... We stay in a lot of Airbnb's on the where... I'm team hotel guy. Nothing against Airbnb's. I've done them, but I would rather be in a hotel.
Bill? Yeah, yeah.
Well, I'm fine with whatever.
I think Shannon has been in a room that was filled with dolls before.
Wasn't that an Airbnb?
That was a hotel.
Yeah, that was a hotel.
What was that? Oklahoma City?
I don't know where it was, but it was like a boutique.
And you go in and like every room had a different theme.
There was a doll room.
There was a needle.
Mine was a quilt.
Mine had quilts all over the place.
There was a needle room.
It was really strange.
I look up the name of that place.
But I don't like say you have an Airbnb here in Lexington.
Could you make it like a UK?
basketball football museum type place. I think people would probably want to stay in a
something like that. There's some theme ones around town. What are they around town? I don't know them.
I've seen one. This has been a while. They've probably changed over. But when Game
and Thrones was still big, I remember seeing something on Instagram. Somebody had a Game
of Thrones theme when, I mean, a lot of them are very played up on the bourbon. That's not
really a big theme. But I've stayed in an ice one in Lexington. It was just bourbon all in your
face. So more Kentucky theme. But no, they are very popular. I've had some very bad
that Airbnb experience is not just with you guys.
So that's why I prefer a hotel or if something's going wrong, I can walk downstairs and they can just take care of it.
I think the article I read said that there's like prints.
There's an Airbnb in Minneapolis that's like dedicated to prints, prints posters, photos and stuff.
So I can kind of see that being a thing.
And you're Shannon tried to probably charge you more to stay in something like that.
Maybe a KSR themed Airbnb we could open.
You could have the Ryan Lemon Room.
It'll be hard to slate with that nose whistle going all night.
Yeah, just play snoring noises while you're in there.
All right, folks, with basketball season over,
now is the perfect time to tackle that remodel you've been putting off.
My friends at estate renovations do kitchens, baths, bas, bas, bas, and even deck sand.
What is deck sand?
Oh, it's decks and.
There's no space there.
There's no space there.

We want to, Shannon. So who's our first caller? All right. Let's go to Kenny. Kenny, go ahead.
Kenny.
Hello, Ryan.
Hello, Kenny.
Hey, uh, I met you a couple of times.
I coach Dante Key back in eighth grade.
Oh, boy.
But anyway, I was going to ask you, I was going to ask you a question.
When you go see that while, you're going to go to Jasper.
What did he say?
I didn't keep saying.
Try it one more time.
I want to my headphones.
Are you going to, you're going to Jasper, Indiana, right?
I am going to Jasper, Indiana this weekend.
Okay.
I was going to ask you, are you going to take her to the, I think you pronounce it, like the Stintzelbank?
Snitzelbach.
Yeah.
Oh, I've been there a hundred times.
It's great German food.
That's a great place, deed.
Anyway, just want to say it in Kentucky.
See you.
All right.
I appreciate it.
He's using JT's phone there.
859-9-2-287, the rest in peace, J-T.
I miss that guy.
I miss his calls.
When things were kind of down, he'd always call.
Hey,
always positive.
Cal's got this,
don't you worry.
Who's our next caller,
Shannon?
Joe.
Joe, go ahead, Joe.
Hey, guys.
You guys were talking about ACLs,
looking for a little relationship advice.
Oh,
we're good.
When me and the better half
are watching a game
and a player
tears the ACL,
you can usually tell immediately
the way they grab the knee
and five,
six trainers come out,
lift them off.
And my girlfriend,
she doesn't laugh.
She doesn't enjoy when this happens, but she's a little callous.
She had a college gymnast teammate to have both ACLs on a tumbling pass.
And the girl got up, put her arms over her head, like to say, I'm done with this.
And she just walked herself off into the locker room.
And I've heard this story 10 times over the years.
And the last couple times I've thought about saying, you know, if your teammate was so tough,
shouldn't she have walked to the bench and supported the team the rest of the meet?
and not to the locker.
Do you think that'd be a good or bad idea?
Joe, I appreciate it.
I'll go first.
If I just rip both my ACLs,
I'm going to the hospital.
I'm peace out.
Yeah, I'm like, listen, you guys do your thing.
I'm in immense pain.
I'm going to cry in front of everybody.
I'm going to the locker room and get me to the hospital.
I'm going to the locker room with a jam finger and saying,
you all got it from here.
I'll be cheering you out from the back.
So two ACLs, you won't see me for a long time.
I'll text you from the hospital.
Yeah, I'll be carried off.
I'm not walking off either with two torn ACLs.
I mean, that's toughness right there, is it not?
I don't believe that she walked off.
I don't even think that's true.
You think you'll walk off with two torn ACLs?
No.
You'd be crawling.
That's crazy.
I mean, little gymnasts are tough little boogers, though.
If there's an athlete he could do it, it'd be her.
They are, man.
They practice like 20 hours a day, and they're bouncing around and jumping around, hard on their body.
What if you tore your ACL while you were working?
with deck sand.
Well, I'd probably lay down and cry.
That's one of my favorite things you've ever done.
I laugh through the whole break.
Well, the words, there's no space.
There's no space.
Murray, you got to get a picture of him with his headphones.
Kind of shows where we are as a show right now.
You're saying deck sand and my broken headphones here.
Before we go, I did want to plug one more thing.
Sports History Foundation.org.
It's a website, and they do for like 30 for 30 documentaries on Kentucky Sports
Sports Stories.
Like they did one on the Lafayette 1979 basketball team.
They've done one on the Nicholasville,
Nicholas County girls basketball team.
They've done the undefeated Madison Central 1980 baseball team.
Well, they got a new one out on the Laurel County Cardinals
winning the 1982 state championship on a half court last second shot.
If you don't know this story, it's a great story.
The dude names Paul Andrews that hits the shot.
He heaves it up from half court at the buzzer,
and they won the state championship on a buzzer beater.
Is there any greater things you can think of
than with your buddies you grew up with,
playing at Rupp Arena,
you throw one in from half court at the buzzer to win the state title.
And they've got a documentary about kind of a 30 for 30 on this.
I just watched it last night and loved it.
Yeah, I want to see that.
I'm familiar with the shot.
I mean, that has to be the biggest shot in the tournament history.
Biggest shot in Kentucky High School history.
Yeah, so I would like to know more about it.
I've seen the clip several times.
It's floated around online in the past,
but I'd like to learn more because it couldn't get better as a high school kid walking off like that.
Shannon, have you heard of the Paul Andrews shot, half-court shot?
I've never heard of it until just now.
Billy?
No, but didn't Dominique Hawkins have a game winner in this?
Was it one of the state games?
Maybe not the state championship.
Maybe you've been the state championship.
Well, it was his team.
I think Ken Job Bosley that actually hit the shot.
That was Derek Dominic Hawkins' team.
Okay.
But I think Ken Jop Bosley is the guy to hit the shot.
But this is a half-court heave, you know, before three-point line and everything.
against Laurel County was playing North Harden.
North Hardin had like three Division I basketball players and they won it.
So I recommend check it out.
It's sports history foundation.org.
So go check it out.
I think you got a register.
It got all kind of 30 for 30 documentaries.
If you like that kind of thing, they do just Kentucky stories.
So it's really, really cool.
Remember Anthony Hickie and Christian County?
I don't think he's the one that hit the shot.
He made the assist.
Yeah.
They hit a one on the game one.
Yeah.
So check that out.
All right. Again, tomorrow we are in Owensboro at the Kentucky Skin Cancer Center.
That's right.
On New Hartford.
On New Hartford Road, the pre-show and KSR.
So, Shannon, who's our last sponsor?
We've got to get in.
Cornbread hemp, our friends at Cornbread Hemp, have launched their first pure-infused
seltors and four delicious flavors.
They're completely alcohol-free, made with only six ingredients.
And only 30 calories.
They're a perfect way to kick back and enjoy a relaxing evening to yourself.
No booze, no baggage, just good vibes.
and it's from a brand that you trust.
You can choose from their blueberry breeze or salted watermelon,
which is my favorite.
You get the peach ice tea and raspberry limeate as well.
And you can get it online at cornbread hemp.com.
You can also find them at Total Wine and More liquor bar and Cox of Spirit shops
and evergreen liquors nearest you.
It is cornbread hemp and their new seltzer.
Give them a try.
Don't forget UK graduation.
If you're in town, come out, check us out at KS Bar before or after graduation.
If you're not involved with it, get out of the downtown.
Goodbye.
Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

Last night, a blown call changed a game.
This morning, the internet lost its mind,
and nobody's telling you exactly what happened.
That's where SportsSlice comes in.
I'm Timbo, and every episode we're cutting through the noise,
breaking down the biggest moments in sports
and giving you the real story behind the headline.
And we're going straight to the source, the athletes themselves.
Their locker room stories, their reactions in the moment,
and the stuff nobody gets to hear.

Hey, what's good, y'all?
You're listening to Learn the Hardway
with your favorite therapist and host Kear Games.
This space is about black men's experiences,
having honest conversations that it's really not safe to have anywhere,
but you're having them with a licensed professional
who knows what he's doing.
How many men carry a suit or armor?
It signals to the world that you not to be played with.
And just because you have the capability
that does not mean that you need to.

Imagine an Olympics
where doping is not only legal
but encouraged. It's the enhanced
games. Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human
potential. Either way, the podcast
Superhuman documented it all
embedded in the games and with the
athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put
on 10 pounds. I was having
trouble stopping the muscle growth.
