Starting point is 00:03:15 Text machine 772-74524. This man right here just said that when he heard me say Dollar Wings on Wingsday, his car just drove right here, which is what it should do. It should. It's not going to get a better deal. You know, food's expensive nowadays. I'm not going to lie.
Starting point is 00:03:28 I went to somewhere. I went to get M&Ms yesterday. It was $4. Oh. For a little pack of M&Ms. And I went, Joe Biden. That's what you said. Yeah, I didn't remember he wasn't present anymore,
Starting point is 00:03:42 but I still was like, let me tell you something. But food is expensive. So you're not, I mean, to get a deal like a dollar wings. They're the same price they were when we opened. How much food is the same price there was when we opened seven years ago? Water? Water? Water is more.
Starting point is 00:03:58 expensive well in the tap it's free but like you go buy it in a bottle it's much more crazy you may notice monica's put the barbecue sauces two of them back on every table the sweet barbecue sauce and the carolina tangy bottles back on every table that's new is that is that apropos of what we're talking about yeah you got the song the wing sauce and now you can have it on your table with your wings okay and it's free it's free so you're exactly so it costs the same as it did before there we go i don't you don't you're just the same as it did before I wasn't sure how he was tying that into the question. There's a science to following Ryan's brain.
Starting point is 00:04:34 You just have to kind of loop around. Free sauce for the dollar wings. Also, the final qualify for trivia is tomorrow night. I'm working on my questions. Make sure you, tomorrow call and get your reservation, but also just come and be ready because this is the final one before we get to the big time champion at the end. Has that day been said?
Starting point is 00:04:56 It has not been set yet. It'll be set. Because I plan on winning. You're in it, unfortunately. Our team qualified. Yeah. Well, you should come tomorrow and see how you're going to do. I can bring the whole family.
Starting point is 00:05:07 Got a bunch of family coming in for graduation. I'll bring them all down. So, UK graduate or high school graduations tomorrow. Starts tomorrow. Here's a little word of advice. Stay away from downtown tomorrow. Amen. Stay away.
Starting point is 00:05:19 Stay away. Remember how bad it was for UK? Worse. Now have a bunch of high school kids. run around. It's terrible. Tomorrow is one of the worst traffic days of the year in Lexington, so just keep that in mind in downtown.
Starting point is 00:05:35 If you're out here, you're okay, but you get downtown. They stagger the graduation tomorrow. I think they're at 10, 2 and 6. But that transition, when one ends and the other one's getting ready to begin. What time is Josiah graduated? 10. That's right. You're not going to be here tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:05:47 Correct. Yeah. So, well, congratulations on that. Thank you. I would like to, I'm happy for you. I'm not happy for the fact you're wearing a Florida Panthers team. shirt as game five is tonight against my Carolina Hurricanes. That feels rude. I think I'm a big Florida Panthers fan right now. You know, they're playing the hurricanes. But didn't you tell me that
Starting point is 00:06:07 you had a lot of fun in a Carolina Hurricanes playoff game? It's the only one I've ever been to it. It was awesome. So why are you wearing that shirt? You know it's just going to trigger me. I like to support a winner and I think the Florida Panthers are, you know, defending champs, defending cup champs. I got this from Ryan Collins, one of our former workers. Big Panther fan. Drew said he thinks he even work for the Panthers at one point. Okay. Knows you're the big Keynes fans. We're trying to just poke you a little bit.
Starting point is 00:06:29 Yeah. By the way, one thing Jerry said there about the accountability, I think that's a very valid point. Very valid point. If Mark Stoveser preaches accountability, how do you give a raise when people were worse? Yeah. That's a fair point. If they had given him the raise next spring after a good year, I still think it's a little
Starting point is 00:06:46 early to give a guy a raise, but okay, at least we saw something he improved in his job. In the one year since he's been back, it just went. further south. Yeah. Indy 500 participant Connor Daly admitted that during his, during the Indy 500 because they had so many caution laps
Starting point is 00:07:06 and because it took so long, he had to, and I know you all are eating, so I'll use the scientific term, he had to urinate on himself and he did that during the race. He actually said he did it twice, said it's the first time it's ever happened
Starting point is 00:07:21 and that he was embarrassed and worried that if he won when he got out, it would be what it would be. Do you, you know, we've always wondered if that happened. He now admitted that he did, and he said, you know, it made it uncomfortable for a lot of the drive, but he also said he did it not during caution. So when he was going 230 miles an hour. I mean, when it calls, you know, now I can understand, I wouldn't be as worried in the moment. Whatever, I'm driving, letting it go, might even be comfortable, but I would worry about
Starting point is 00:07:53 getting out of the car and having the mess. I would quickly pour the milk all over my stuff. I would demand that they hand me the milk through the window before I get out of the car. Yeah. I always wanted this. I always assumed they wore depends undergarments or something because you can't go that long and not go. When a guy's got to go, a guy's got to go. You can't go three hours?
Starting point is 00:08:13 Oh, I can't. I can't go an hour. I usually pee in between the commercial break in this show. 11 o'clock break. Have you thought about getting that checked out? Yeah, I'm old. That just happens when you get old. You'll find out.
Starting point is 00:08:26 But an hour is not very long. But for these guys to drive a car, 500 miles, they've got a PLO themselves. All right. Well, that's good to see that he... He's a professional. He confirmed that. I also saw a story. McDonald's is saying they are going to start going around and making minimum quality requirements for all their restaurants.
Starting point is 00:08:51 That there's been a complaint. that McDonald's, which the thing they used to always sell is wherever you go, you get the same thing, that there is too much variance in quality from one McDonald's to the other. Here's the reason I'm bringing this up. This is 100% correct. I've talked about this before, but I want to be clear. The difference in McDonald's here in Lexington is stark from one place to other. Herodzburg Road, McDonald's.
Starting point is 00:09:19 Very good. campus McDonald's very bad Lee's Town Road McDonald's once one of the Sterling McDonald's in the country way falling off Is that woman still in the drive-thru? Yes Worst McDonald's.
Starting point is 00:09:34 She's nice, but worse McDonald's of all time. McDonald's next to the interstate on Newtown Pike, solid. Yeah. Solid. McDonald's on Richmond Road. Hit or miss. McDonald's on Versailles Road.
Starting point is 00:09:50 Hit or miss. But I do respect the idea, Ryan, that we have to get the McDonald's to one standard. You do expect when you go get McDonald's French fries to be those really good, crispy, salty McDonald's fries. Do you agree? Harrisburg-Rodes is the best McDonald's? Oh, it's by far. I think it's the best in town. You think so?
Starting point is 00:10:08 At Leastown Road is the worst in town. And it used to be good. Yeah. It was good when I lived over there. It's not good anymore. Well, I think that when you go to UK, I think the campus one is, it's bad. It's bad. It's bad.
Starting point is 00:10:20 The campus one is bad. But it's, Shannon, there shouldn't be this variance. I thought McDonald's was good at that. I thought that was like the one thing that they were good at. Well, they said the CEO acknowledged, we have let this slip, and they're going to start having more regular inspections to make sure all the McDonald's. And they said, if your McDonald's is not up to their standard, they will pull the arches from you.
Starting point is 00:10:42 So does that mean they're going to inspect the ice cream machine and the milkshake machine that is down and broken every single day? I hope so. because this is, you know, there's nothing worse than me pulling in wanting to get one of these, these large Diet Coke's, and it come out flat and all that, so I'm glad to see they're doing. They're not the only one with this problem. I drive past two Taco Bells to go to a different Taco Bell. I'm not kidding.
Starting point is 00:11:07 They're two within a mile of my house. They're terrible. It's like they give you food from yesterday, and I go all the way over to Richmond Road by the Big Kroger to that one now because it hasn't let me down yet. I literally can look out my window and pass a Taco Bell on my way to Taco Bell because it's gotten so bad. Yeah. And that's the one on New Circle by Sam's Club. Totally understand.
Starting point is 00:11:26 I would skip out. Back when I used to live on Lees Town Road, I was like, you know what? I'm boycotting you to drive all the way to Herodzburg Road because you don't, you don't do. And I don't want to call out these places, but you know what? Those arches are a symbol. You'll live up to high standards. They are a symbol of something sacred. It's a high standard.
Starting point is 00:11:46 And you need to not bring it down. Who's next, Shannon? Adam. Adam, go ahead of that. Hey, Matt. There's a lot of things that can point to the fall or decline of Kentucky football over the last couple years, inconsistency at the O.C. quarterback. But I think the number one reason is the decline of the offensive line.
Starting point is 00:12:09 And since Wolford took over in 2021, I mean, it's just gotten steadily worse. We've only had four. And everybody talks about, well, he's a good recruiter. recruiter. Really? We have not signed a four-star offensive lineman since 23, which was under Yenzer. And the four that we have signed since 2021, Jagger Barton, is the only one still on the team. Yeah, that's a good. I mean, that's another point. Part of the case for Wolford was how good his recruiting was, but of those guys who's really panned out,
Starting point is 00:12:39 the only ones, he's right. The only one still on the team is Jagger, and Jagger's had his struggles. So, but Matt, he gets to the building first. He's first coach in the building How late is everyone else that you get $100,000 raise for being there? That's a good question. I mean, I was just looking. Okay, so we pay Vince is the highest paid tight-in coach in America.
Starting point is 00:13:01 Yes. I'm okay with that because I do think the roster completely falls apart if Vince is gone. But, I mean, that's high. That's high. We have like the, what is it, the 12th or 10th highest paid running back? coach. Now to be fair, we've had good running backs, but the guy that's there was not the running back coach for a lot of that, right? Yeah, he's special teams coach too. The guy who won't use an
Starting point is 00:13:27 Australian punter after we won the... That's another thing that drives me crazy. Again, it's an example of stubbornness. We had the only Ray Guy Award winner in history doing Australian punting. 65% of all teams in college football are doing Australian punting and ours are guys like Australian punting stupid I don't get it do you? No, not at all and the back of what that caller was saying football nerds will point to when Wofford was here the first time
Starting point is 00:14:00 started the decline in the offensive line the neck he didn't play, didn't develop any depth so that next year even after he left they got even worse the two years he was in Alabama they got worse because of what he did when he was here. So let's not be 100% negative. Let's try to be positive for these young people out here, like you, sir. For our youth.
Starting point is 00:14:19 Now, I'm calling you, you're youth, too. Just, of all the gray beards, you're the youngest, all right? Give me one thing to be optimistic about for UK football in 2025. Give me the case of, like, I am hosting, I'm replacing Christy Thomas for the day as the host of the UK, official UK pregame show. When I got to get everybody pumped up, what am I saying? Drew Franklin. Oh, boy.
Starting point is 00:14:49 I would say there is a chance that Zach Calzada is one of the better quarterbacks of the Stoops era. We won't know until he takes a snap. But, I mean, he did have the big win over Alabama when he was at A&M. Those highlights are pretty impressive. That was several years ago, and he's been an incarnate word, another stop since. But there is tape of him playing really good football in the SEC, literal VHS tape because it was years ago. But there is proof that he can play in this week.
Starting point is 00:15:17 So you're optimistic thing. I'm gambling on the Calzada hype, even though it's a complete unknown right now. I would at least go that direction if I'm trying to talk people. What about you? Out of the, what, six starters or so we got back, four or five of them are on defense. So I think they can build on that.
Starting point is 00:15:34 And I think they'll replace some guys that maybe were not giving their best effort last on defense. I think you've got some younger, hungrier guys that are going to step in. So my optimistic point about the football team is the defense is going to be better. It's going to be a lot of low-scoring games maybe because I don't know we can score the points on the other side, but our defense will be better. Okay. By the way, did you know that the bills are the hard knocks team? So presumably Maxwell Harrison, Dionne Walker, Ray Davis may get some national. They may get some national tech. All right, for me, if I'm going to give a case for optimism,
Starting point is 00:16:04 virtually all of the transfers they brought in, especially along the line of scrimmage, produced. These are not guys that, like, maybe it'll work, it has worked. Now, they did it on a smaller level, but you actually have guys who have succeeded as opposed to, well, they didn't succeed, but they will here. So if you want to sort of feel positive about it, we do have a lot of guys who on one level below this have had success.
Starting point is 00:16:33 Shannon, I'm in. What's your point? I want to double down on Drew's point, and I would just, you know, we were hyping somebody up. It's got to be about how you word it. So I just want to say, we have the most experienced quarterback in college football, right? This guy's been through it. He knows what it takes to win, and we've got him as our leader this year, and that's why we're going to win.
Starting point is 00:16:53 All right, I like it. Is there four straight, you know, things? And I think we've sold. I'll add, if you point out how bad you were last year. Like Ty Bryant when he was on here was very open about how bad the locker room is, and they're at least saying it's changed. I would note we were really terrible last year, and we fixed that. Like, we won't have guys getting hot dogs midgame this year.
Starting point is 00:17:16 You can count on that. All right, draft kings, Timberwolves and Thunder tonight. You bet five get $300 on your first bet with draft Kings, draft Kings Sportsbook. Can the Thunder close out the series at home there in eight and a half point favorite? That's a lot of points. Thunder wins. I don't know if they can cover, but Thunder's definitely win.
Starting point is 00:17:33 Thunder definitely win. I feel a slight bounce back for Randall and Edwards because they were so bad. So they'll keep it close, but they still lose. I'll say they cover. I'm going to say it's like all these games in this series. Either the Thunder win by 25 or they lose a close game. I think they probably win by 25.
Starting point is 00:17:53 I'll take the Thunder to move to the championship. I should note I'm 0 for 5 on my last NBA bets. So no one take that. Thunder Pacers is going to be the lowest ranked, lowest rated, NBA finals, I mean, in a long time. Like, in a long time. Halliburton's dad's back. Maybe they'll add some spice to it.
Starting point is 00:18:14 Yeah, it won't. He needs to go out and punch somebody in the face after the game. I mean, it's going to be, you got to remember, this is the first finals. Like, no LeBron, no Steph, no Yonis, and, you know, Shay Alexander, we love him, Tyrese Halliburton, like, the average fan. doesn't know who either one of those guys is. I mean, the average NBA fan does, but the average sports fan couldn't pick them out.
Starting point is 00:18:39 I mean, they may have heard their name, but, like, it's going to be a very low-rated. Halliburton was pretty amazing last night. He was incredible. He was great. Triple-double, no turnovers. Most best triple-double with no turnovers like ever. In the history of a...
Starting point is 00:18:54 He shut up the overrated, uh, poll. We will take a break. Be right back. KS.R. Last night, a blown call changed the game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending, opinions are flying, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where Sports Slice comes in.
Starting point is 00:19:11 I'm Timbo. Every episode, we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the plays, the controversies, and the stories behind the headlines. We go straight to the source, the athlete themselves, their locker room stories, their reactions, the stuff nobody gets to hear. This lineback...
Starting point is 00:20:03 They know these kids. This linebacker walks up to him and he goes, Hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Time out. Quarterback on office blue with 42. Hey, ref, my mama want you to wave at her. What?
Starting point is 00:20:22 Hey, Ms. Parker. Listen to the Clifford show on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Hey, everyone. It's Ryder Strong and Will Ferdell from PodMeets World. And now the Pod Meets Twirled podcast. were two men who were completely clueless to reality TV, who now have covered Dancing with the Stars, traitors,
Starting point is 00:20:47 and we're gearing up for the season finale of Survivor. So yeah, now we're experts. I know we annoyed a lot of our listeners by our severe lack of survivor knowledge. That is the point of the show. I'm just going to remind you. I have watched some Survivor. I obviously haven't watched enough. Did people not like it?
Starting point is 00:21:07 Yeah. Just because we... Yeah. We'll be recapping the big conclusion of the 50th season. from the final attempts at gameplay to the desperate pleas of finalists to a bunch of ha-hoo again, we are experts.

We're becoming more individualized, but we actually meet people in connection. If you've been searching for a soft place to land while doing the work to become whole, this podcast is for you to hear more.
Starting point is 00:22:21 Listen to deeply well with Debbie Brown from the Black Effect Podcast Network on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Welcome back, Tuggy Sports Radio. Now there's all these people riding me with their hometown McDonald's. All right, so I'm going to give you the ones
Starting point is 00:22:39 that are getting a positive review. Corby McDonald's. Okay. Positive. Winchester McDonald's. Positive. Negatives. Multiple people angry about the one in Vanceburg.
Starting point is 00:22:55 What's going on in Vanceburg? I don't know. I mean, I'm not advocating one way. I'm just telling you that I've gotten three. Vanceburg does not feel like a town I should have gotten three messages about. That's true. I don't know what's happening there. Also, three messages saying we need to improve the ones in Richmond.
Starting point is 00:23:16 So there's your advice. If you're in Corbin or in Winchester, thumbs up. In Richmond or you're in Vanceburg, thumbs down. We spent the whole commercial break breaking down our local McDonald's and the pros and cons of all of them. It's important to people. One person writes, Matt, with Otega making his decision tonight, what are the five biggest stay-or-go NBA draft,
Starting point is 00:23:39 decisions in Kentucky history. Number one, I think in terms of the fan base, like waiting on edge, what is going to happen, Harrison Twins. I think the Harrison Twins is the biggest. I mean, we went live on the air for a special show with the Harrison Twins. I don't think we've ever done that for anybody else. I'm pretty certain Harrison Twins is one. I think Hamidu Diallo is a lot.
Starting point is 00:24:08 is a huge one. I mean, people may not remember it as much, but in that moment, that was a massive one that, again, kind of waited until the last minute and the last minute. You know, in the Cal area, very few of these guys came back.
Starting point is 00:24:21 So when we waited, it usually was not for a positive result. Jamal McGlore. Yeah, I mentioned that yesterday. I mean, Jamal McGlore is one of them. When you go back, he was one that people were kind of on edge about.
Starting point is 00:24:35 Randolph Morris. Oh, Randolph-Fource. Morris, for sure, the facts. Because Tubby found a facts in his desk, which is just the lie. I mean, the lie and this lie than it ever lied.
Starting point is 00:24:50 Okay, so those are... That's a good four. If we're going to get a fifth, can anybody think of a fifth one that was particularly... Because again, a lot with the Callum, they didn't come back, so I don't know... I remember when Terrence Jones came back, it was a big deal and a surprise, but did it have the, like, anticipation? I don't even
Starting point is 00:25:06 remember how he announced it. I think we all assumed he was leaving and then all of a sudden he just said he was coming back i don't i don't think there was like a big wait for it okay just remember that was one of the better i mean with willy i mean with willy he just kind of said i'm coming back and there wasn't the yeah he did it early too will he did so i i don't know i mean i know it's just been a year ago but jackson robinson we've kind of waited on pins and needles for him knowing that he was kind of be the actual piece you know what i like that one i like jackson robinson is the fifth one because i was refreshing my phone in Italy trying to find out if he was coming back.
Starting point is 00:25:42 Didn't you do, wait, announce the next day after the deadline? Like he did his paperwork and everything, but then he still waited to make it public. I think you're right. And we needed a star at that point. We had so many unknowns about Pope. We really wanted to make sure he had a guy who could play. So if you're going to rank these, what? Jackson Robinson 5th, maybe Homadieu 4th, McGlore 3rd, Randolph Morris 2nd.
Starting point is 00:26:06 I like that list. Twins first? Yeah, I like that list a lot. Yeah. Yeah, it's going to be hard to bump one of those top five off the list right there. Because there were other guys like, you know, Antoine Walker and Ron Mercer and these guys that left early. But you kind of knew they were going. You know, there wasn't really that drama.
Starting point is 00:26:22 Are they going to come back or go? I will be shocked if somebody can give me one that was bigger than the Harrison Twins. I mean, the Harrison Twins was one of those where all of Lexington was waiting to hear. Right? So I think you're going to have a hard time. You got the voiceover guy for Iheart to make special zingers for them. Yeah. Yeah, we got the dude with the voice to say, first they split a zygote, now they're splitting defenders.
Starting point is 00:26:46 The Harrison twins are back. And even though Diallo's return, that team didn't have a ton of success that we wanted. That whole day was very anxious for Kentucky fans. I hit refresh on my computer every second for felt like 12 hours. Because we didn't know how good Tyler Hero was going to be. And you got to remember, Tyler Hero ended up. being a lot better than we thought. We thought if we didn't have Diallo, we might not be good at all.
Starting point is 00:27:10 Yeah. And then Tyler Hero ended up being a lot better than we imagine. Who's up next, Shannon? Peanut. Peanut. Go ahead, peanut. All right, hey guys, how's going? Good.
Starting point is 00:27:22 I was wondering, I saw the recruiting class ranking. The other day, Monday, I think. And Kentucky dropped from second to six. How would they drop so four spots? Well, because they're now including in the recruiting rankings. now including transfers and some guys, you know, came back to college or transferred, and that's how the other schools rose. There were some guys like Houston when the kid, the point guard, decided to come back,
Starting point is 00:27:55 that kind of changed the list. So that's why. I got you. I saw Arkansas was second. Yeah, I mean, I don't know about that. I mean, Carter, the only thing to change for them is Carter Knox came back. I'm not really sure how that Carter's fine, but I would say Kentucky's group is as good if not better than Arkansas. We'll see, but I kind of think that's the case.
Starting point is 00:28:18 That's what I was wondering. Yeah, I appreciate the call. But we also have Otega and Garrison back as well. Florida is a team that loaded up again, man. Those guys that tested the water and came back, Condon came back, and they got boogie flan now. Do we know what a do is doing? No, I was even searching on Twitter for him yesterday. It seems he's staying in.
Starting point is 00:28:37 He put like on Instagram earlier this week just pictures of him in Arkansas uniform and no context, but I haven't seen any official announcement. I feel like you would know. Mario, do you know what a dude's doing? You think he's what? Stays in the draft. Mario's got sources.
Starting point is 00:28:52 He does. Mario has a new podcast out. You need to check it out. It's with the self-proclaimed What's his name? The Doctor of Black Love? Dude. I'm listening to that.
Starting point is 00:29:05 I'm listening to that on my way to McCreary County. We'll get right back. This is KSR. T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J. He'll make them pay. Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones.
Starting point is 00:29:18 Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio. 859-280-2287. Wingsday here. Folks coming in from all over. A lot of people were picking Terrence Jones for that. So maybe that was closer than I remember because a lot of answers for Terrence Jones.
Starting point is 00:29:34 A lot of answers for Oscar, too, but, like, I mean, maybe it was just me. I knew Oscar was going to come back. I don't think that was ever really. Well, I was in doubt, but then it kind of switched. Antonio Reeves, that's not a bad one, because he maybe tried to go back to Illinois State, which is really random, but I think that was something that he considered. He seemed to have a foot out the door, but the something with the transcripts or academics wasn't working. I went back and looked at the archives for Terrence Jones.
Starting point is 00:30:02 the day before the deadline, he tweeted early in the morning that he's 50-50, and he woke up from a long night of tossing and turning. So he put that out there. We probably did wait to the last minute. And then he tweeted later that night that he was coming back. Yeah, maybe we should put that one over Jackson because he was a big deal because we kind of thought that's the last piece to win in a title, and that ended up being true.
Starting point is 00:30:25 And in his tweet, he said, I'm coming back to win number eight here at UK. My man, he called his shot. Yes, he did. That's good stuff. we did our fourth episode of the Matt Jones show, and it was with me and Drew and Billy, and we did a new thing where Billy has to pick the top 10 news stories, and then Drew and I comment on them.
Starting point is 00:30:45 How'd that go? I, you know, I mean, I'm biased because I was in it, but I think it's really, really good. I think Drew and I just riffing on the news is pretty good. Billy reading news stories is hilarious, because what Billy thinks is news is funny, and then like for a guy doing the news, he doesn't always have all the facts. And I think people will really like it.
Starting point is 00:31:09 It's the Matt Jones show. Starting next week, it's going to be called Interrupted by Matt Jones. So none, they weren't necessarily sports stories. There were no sports. Number one was Trump. There were some political, some weird, some, and then we get off track. It was a good balance. But it was not like, it's not us making.
Starting point is 00:31:31 and serious arguments. It's us just discussing various things. I don't want to spoil it. But I think if you liked Fade this, you will like this probably equally as not more. I mentioned this before we did it, but it's almost like a game show. It's almost a sport because I don't know what's going to be said.
Starting point is 00:31:48 There are some stories I knew nothing about, but the mic's on. You've got to give your initial thoughts. So it turned into some wacky opinions and jokes about everything going on. There were some good wacky opinions. So it was a lot of fun. So you should... And Billy did a good job getting...
Starting point is 00:32:02 Billy did do a good job. He didn't have a lot of notice, so he did a good job doing it. Who's up next? Joe. Joe, go ahead, Joe. Hey, I guess I was... This is kind of on the spot, but at the same time for me, I guess I know you have your wings. I guess you feel like stuff, and if you ever want me to come by the bar,
Starting point is 00:32:32 and I make my own... It's also, if you want me to bring it for somebody to try, just let me know. Okay, well, yeah, I mean, if you want to bring it by, I'd love to try the hot sauce. I mean, we can't sell it here because we don't know you. But, I mean, we would, but I'll try somebody's hot sauce, yeah. Like, I guess, like, because I use, like, Carolina Reaper and Ghost Pepper, so I know it's hot, but at the same time I hit a lot of people that... Well, it sounds good. Well, yeah, come and just bring it by sometime.
Starting point is 00:33:14 I appreciate it, sir. There you go. I mean, I'll try most people's hot sauce. You like hot sauce? Carolina Reaper, Ghost Pepper. That's the hot stuff. Lexington was named by Forbes magazine. one of the 10 best places to retire in America.
Starting point is 00:33:32 Do you agree with that? Do you think Lexington is one of the 10 best places to retire in America? Conceivably you could retire here, you know, depending on how things go any time. I've always thought Lexham was a great place to live and a great place to raise a family. I've never thought of it as a great place to retire, though. What are the pros? Apparently, you know, cost of living. is less here than other cities of this size around the country, generally speaking.
Starting point is 00:34:02 All right. Healthcare, good here compared because of the University of Kentucky, etc. Ryan's health care is not at the top of the list of best health care, but in theory it could be. He's got time before he retires to get that. It sounds like you don't agree. You've lived here for 30 years. You don't think it's a good place to retire? I guess I've never thought of it being a retirement place.
Starting point is 00:34:26 I always said, like I said, great place to live. Where are you going to retire? Florida. Yeah. But do you? Probably Orlando. Go to Disney World. That's like the most expensive city in the country.
Starting point is 00:34:35 You're going to go live in Orlando when you retire? That sounds like it would be hell. We're going to go live with the villages where everybody rides around on golf carts. Oh, did you see that video of the villages where they were having a dance? No. And all these old people were taking their clothes off and stuff. I know it gets wild there. There's good stories about it.
Starting point is 00:34:55 Ma'am. can laugh go at some point google villages dance party you it is can you send me that address it is a specter no i mean it's you would be the youngest person oh wow and they are there's a band playing and they are getting down like i mean they are there's bumping there's grinding there's there's there's a lot happening i could i actually could see you there you're going to speed But you know that's a really expensive place to live. Yeah, I'll probably maybe be on the coast, probably out of the Orlando. I would say the coast might be even more expensive if you're talking about place.
Starting point is 00:35:37 I would say the Florida coast is not a cheap place to retire. Are you going to own or go to like a community? Because insurance there is outrageous too. It is very high. I think I want to start Tampa Sports Radio and we're going to talk, you know, Tampa Sports. But, you know, Tampa is probably more expensive than Lexington. Oh, yeah, definitely. So sounds like you don't want to retire in Lexington
Starting point is 00:35:58 Why don't you want to be here? You want to be where the sun is? Yeah, I always thought that would be the thing to be. I guess I've just never thought of Lexington has a great retirement place. Well, according to Forbes magazine says it is. According to Forbes magazine it is. Who's up next? Let's go to Alan.
Starting point is 00:36:14 Alan. Alan, go ahead, Alan. Hey, good morning, guys. Good morning. I would have loved to see Jody Meeks come back one more. year. Yeah, I mean, if Jody Meeks is on that John Wall team, that team never loses a game. You know, I think it would have been awesome.
Starting point is 00:36:35 I mean, if you're Jody Meeks, you're probably thinking, look, I can start my NBA career. Is Cal going to favor his guys over me? I mean, I think there was, you know, I think that was something that would happen sometimes with Cal. But yes, if he had been on that team, I don't think that team would have lost the game. I agree. Appreciate the call. Do you agree with that? If Jody Meeks comes and plays with Wall, Cousins, and Patterson,
Starting point is 00:37:00 is that like the best Kentucky team of all time? Yeah, because their only flaw was three-point shooting. That's what's sent him home. And if you've got Meeks out there with cousins and Wall beside him, I mean, I think it lights out for everybody. I mean, as good as that team was, you do have to remember major minutes were played on that team by Darnell Dodson and Ramon Harris.
Starting point is 00:37:19 And nothing against those guys, but they had to play major minutes on that team. and if you replaced one of those guys with Joe, if you replace Darnel Dotson with Jody Meeks, because Ramon was pretty good at defense. So if you replace Darnell with Jody Meeks, like you got a team that's a squad. And that's why, you know, there was a lot of anticipation about Jody Meeks. The caller is, you know, that's not a bad choice for our list we're trying to come up with.
Starting point is 00:37:46 But he didn't pick, he didn't stay. So it's kind of a bummer of a choice. It was a bummer of a choice. Yeah. I don't know if it would have helped him. He was a second round pick. kind of late. I had like a 15-year career, but it absolutely would have helped Kentucky. Yeah, no doubt. Cornbread hemp, the seltzers are out. They're going to be sold right here in
Starting point is 00:38:02 this parking lot during Railbird. If you're at Railbirds, you can come over, come to the bar, get some drinks or food, and get to Cornbread Seltzer. They also will be at the golf course Friday. Yes. Another reason. Another reason for everybody to just, you know, chill. I had several while grilling on Saturday. Exactly. Feeling real good when those rimmedehm.com. They got the gummies. They got the seltzers. By the way, on the scramble, if it rains, and we're still going.
Starting point is 00:38:30 But we may move up the start to 12, 15. So make sure you're there by 12. Okay. Because we may move up the start because the rain is supposed to be worse later in the night. Gotcha. But we're going either way. But cornbread hemp. Check out the seltors.
Starting point is 00:38:44 Check out cornbread hemp and use my code KSR. We'll take a break. Come back. Final segment on Wingsday here at Kentucky Sports Radio. Starting point is 00:42:10 Listen to deeply well with Debbie Brown from the Black Effect Podcast Network on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Welcome back. Final segment here, Kentucky Sports Radio, 859-28022. 287, Matt Jones, Ryan Lemon and Drew Franklin. Otego-Wa, has to 11.59 p.m. tonight to decide he is working out with the Brooklyn Nets at, well, actually right now, started at 11 o'clock this morning. Get it out the way. So he'll work out, and then he'll make the decision. I'm surprised that none of you all are even a little bit concerned.
Starting point is 00:42:53 You believe the rumors that he's been hearing good stuff? That's just, you don't believe that at all. It's a PR move to drum up interest, get a good win when he comes back for Pope in Kentucky. That's happened before. There have been times that this, not this staff, but the previous staff, would have a recruiting thing that they knew they were going to get, that they would say a couple days before act like it might be somebody else, so it gets a lot of attention.
Starting point is 00:43:18 That has happened, so that's plausible. You know, you want him obviously to come back, but you also want him to have good success during these tryouts, to help him for next year. Yeah, but I mean, how much is that going to really matter? I mean, by next year, he'll be a different player for better or worse. I mean, right, I can't imagine there's going to be a team that goes next year. You know, we'd be interested in O'A.
Starting point is 00:43:41 We haven't talked to him in a year, but last year he looked really good. At least get you on the radar. You meet him, you have conversations with him. Like I said, what else he's got to do? If somebody wants to fly him to Brooklyn workout, he should absolutely do that. There's nothing going on in Lexington. There's in-face meetings. Are you going to meet and find out about the guys?
Starting point is 00:43:56 Ryan, you like free t-shirts. They get the gear. Free swag. Okay, Shannon, these dudes think there's no chance that he doesn't come back. You? There's no chance that he doesn't come back. He's coming back for sure. All right, you guys.
Starting point is 00:44:10 It's too much money. A lot of money. It is a lot of money. I will say it is a lot of money. You got to play the long game, too. I mean, Brooklyn could be the team next year that ends up drafting him. So why would you not work out with him if you have the chance to? Yeah, I agree.
Starting point is 00:44:24 Okay, let's say he comes back. roster's done to you go into June, July, August feeling, hey, I'm excited. We're going to be good next year. I have a lot of excitement if he comes back. I already do. I think they'd be good if he didn't come back. But once they finalize it and he's on the roster, I am very excited for next year. I think it's cool for the fan base, too, to have two guys that they know very well coming back.
Starting point is 00:44:53 You know, unfortunately in today's college basketball, that hasn't happened a lot. But with Garrison and O.A. Well, even Noah, right? Chandler. And Chandler. You have four guys. So they're going to have four dudes. They're going to have four dudes who the fans not only know but have really grown to embrace.
Starting point is 00:45:08 I think that will help a lot with the season too. You ask what we're going to be excited in August, September. I'm excited right now. I mean, I think this team is going to get built the win. I can expect a great season next year with this team. We also don't have all the worries and uncertainties. People had a Pope last year. True.
Starting point is 00:45:24 I mean, who knows what he'll be long-term, but the way he immediately won that Duke game, the Gonzaga game, there's none of this that we had before where those, you know, you're losing the championship classic every year. If O-Way comes back, is he our best player? He may not be the leading score,
Starting point is 00:45:39 but he may be the best player. So you don't think he'll be the best player? Yeah, I think he don't think he'd be the leading school. Correct. What about you? I think if Quentin's rehab goes well, it'll be hard to be better than him. I think he can be special if he's fully healthy.
Starting point is 00:45:54 Will he be our leading? score. I think O.A. will still lead the team scoring. What he did last year was pretty nuts, having double figures in all but one or two games. Yeah. I think Jalen Lowe is going to be our leading score. I think he's going to take a lot of shots. I think at the end of games, it's probably going to be in his hand a lot. I don't know if that's going to make him the best player or not. I think the more likely scenario is O.A. Because was O.A. Our leading score last year? He was. Yeah. I think Jailen Lowe. Now, Quaintance is the best NBA talent by far.
Starting point is 00:46:31 But, Shannon, who do you think is the best player on next year? I think it's O.A. I think, you know, that he's going to be the guy that they build this team around. And last year, he was the most consistent player that they had. But Drew said, I mean, he scored double digits almost every game. I don't want people sleeping on Jalen Lowe. I think Jalen Lowe is going to be really, really good. When I saw Jalen Lowe play a couple times when he was really good.
Starting point is 00:46:53 And when he was really good, he was the best dude on the floor by far. Now, he could be really bad, too. Like, he could take terrible shots and he could. But when he's, if Pope can do just what he said on this show, which is get him to play, I don't like to use a phrase under control, because I think sometimes those guys need to be, you know, themselves. But just to decide what's a good shot and what's not a good shot, I think he's got to got a chance to be really special.
Starting point is 00:47:24 And, you know, he's going to get a lot of minutes, so they need him to stay healthy. They're kind of a little thin at point guard, actually, with depth. So with all the minutes he's going to play, he's got to stay on the floor and stay healthy. One of the things he does best is drive and kick back outside. And if they have guys that are knocking down shots, if Jasper pans out, Oway gets a little better. Williams, if they're surrounding him with good perimeter shooters, I think he'll have a very high assist rate. Most improved player on the team next year is going to be Colin Chandler.
Starting point is 00:47:47 I think Colin Chandler is going to be really good. I think Colin Chandler is probably our sixth or seventh man and comes in. and, you know, I think he's got a really good future. I hope he gets to his future here. I'm a little worried that it's going to be crowded next year, but I think he's going to, he's too athletic. Like, he is really athletic. Pope, he told you during the interview,
Starting point is 00:48:08 players in his system generally take a big leap in year two. I can see it. So I think he's thinking about that with Brandon Garrison and Colin Chandler, Trent and Otega. Yeah, who's next? It's going to try. Trey, go ahead, Trey. Matt, what's going on?
Starting point is 00:48:23 Good morning. The greatest fan base in the nation. Hey, I just want to say we shouldn't be losing too much sleep over this O-way decision. We got the most athletic team coming in since maybe the dawn of time. I mean, it's going to be a five-month-time. Wow. I think, you know, the 2015 team is pretty athletic. You know, Wall Cousins, pretty athletic.
Starting point is 00:48:42 Foxmunk. Fox-Muck, bam, pretty athletic, you know. Good point, Matt. But everybody's overlooking. This Mr. Yellovich guy, I'm telling you, he's the Croatian sensation. It's going to be a great year. Let me ask you a question about that. He's got some myths on him.
Starting point is 00:48:57 Let me ask you a question. I'm asking this question because I do not know the answer. I don't know if this is where the world comes into sports. Marco Rubio announced yesterday that he is telling embassies to suspend all student visas from international students starting now. He didn't say how long it would be. But if he does that, do we know, I appreciate the call, what happens with these foreign players? I don't know the answer to this, but I saw that story, and I would presume for a guy like Yilvich, who's not here yet,
Starting point is 00:49:34 because you have to get a visa pretty close to when you're going. I don't know exactly. You don't? You don't know? Yeah. I kind of am not sure if he can, like, unless that policy changes. Well, this smells funny. because Marco Rubio is a Florida fan.
Starting point is 00:49:52 Is he doing this because he doesn't want us to have Yelich? What I would wonder about Marco Rubio is last year's Florida team had like guys from seven countries. So, yeah, so I don't know. I saw that story and I immediately thought about Yelovich because Yelovich is not here yet. And so I would assume he needs to get a visa. And if they're saying no visas are going to be processed at least for right now, I do wonder about that. And he don't know how long this band?
Starting point is 00:50:19 will be in place. I mean, it might be a week, might be a year. I mean, I don't know, but, so just something to watch, because I, he's not here yet. Does Kentucky still employ the person that got Big Z over here and into class in the middle of the semester? As long as we have that person on staff, we'll get into school in like October. Yeah, they're like, it was after midterms. Yeah, okay, he's on the team now. Hey, bourbon lovers, Commonwealth Causes is back with their May bourbon raffle and you won't want to miss this. Ultimate Bourbon collection drawing is tomorrow, May 29th, featuring an epic lineup of bourbon worth $20,000. Tell me about these, Drew.
Starting point is 00:50:55 Six bottle Pappy Van Winkle set. Oh, that's about as exclusive as you can get. Weller six bottle set. That's the one I'm chasing. I've got three of six. Someone wins. Give me the others. Old Forrester birthday bourbon 24.
Starting point is 00:51:09 Another hot item. These are all impossible to find on your own. Well, you can find them at commonwealthcauses.org. The drawing is tomorrow, but you've got to get your ticket today at commonwealthcauses. and a part of the proceeds goes to Club Blue NIL, probably to help pay for Otago away to come back if he ends up making the decision. So, you know, you might win-verbin, and you might make it to where Otago away returns for another year.
Starting point is 00:51:33 It's a win-win for everybody. It is. Congrats to Josiah. Thank you. I'll tell you. Are you going to cry? I'm sure there may be some tears when I give my big toast, my daddy toast at lunch tomorrow. Oh, that's going to be sweet.
Starting point is 00:51:45 Like when he goes across the stage and they say... Oh, no. I'm the guy that good dad in the crowd is hooping and a lot. hollering. So when they say don't cheer? Oh, I'm cheering. That's what I assume. All right. Well, thank you. Congratulations. Drew and I will be here tomorrow with Shannon, and we will see you at the KS Bar.
