Welcome to Hour 2 of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones. Welcome back. I'm number two, Kentucky Sports Radio. Matt Ryan, Drew, and Shannon. 859-2-2-2287. The text machine is 772-745-25-4. Ryan Corey Price found the box score that Madisonville Lafayette game. The dude that went 18 and two-thirds innings, by the way.
Starting point is 00:03:37 Nick Travis. 18 and two-thirds. Here's what's impressive, in relief. Oh. Can you imagine looking at your reliever and going, okay, son. Go get me a couple of innings. Go get to go out there and give me a good 18 and two-thirds today. I've heard of long relievers, but that's ridiculous.
Starting point is 00:03:52 By the way, the other guy Likens for Lafayette Drew, he just went a cool 14 and he probably thought, you know, if I go 14, I'm going to get a lot of praise for it. And then the other guy goes 18 and 2 thirds and your 14 doesn't look like anything in the end. Yeah, you can't really say much to my guy.
Starting point is 00:04:11 Travis, I think you said? Yeah, Travis. I don't understand how I went to Madisonville for four years, never saw a statue of that man. I should have been driving past his statue every morning on my way to school. Well, Vic Travis ended up being a big league umpire. He's from here.
Starting point is 00:04:24 He's probably pitched for Lafayette. He's a Lexington guy. Oh, you think that's who it is? Yeah. Do you have any basis for that or you're just saying that that's, I mean, there could be a lot of Travis's. You think it's this one? No, it's got to be this guy. Vic Travis was the loser then.
Starting point is 00:04:37 The winner I should have been seeing. So, so you, look, I like this, Shannon. He is just convinced that the only person whose last name is Travis. Vic Travis. That could have played it. Oh, his first name was Vic. Yeah, Vic Travis. the pitcher, and he also became a big league umpire.
Starting point is 00:04:57 Okay. All right. So you know his name was Vic? Yeah. Okay. That's what the caller said. Oh, he did? Okay.
Starting point is 00:05:03 Fair enough. 859-280 2287. Let's go over a couple things. First of all, did you see Shannon any of the videos from Bartstown Road this weekend? No. What was, there were fights? Oh. No, I didn't see it.
Starting point is 00:05:19 I don't even know. I don't even know that you can use the word fights. melee on I'm glad I didn't go out there Yeah so that area I think it started next to the Taco Bell Yep I know what you're talking about
Starting point is 00:05:32 On Bardstown Road But just go look it up I mean Are they mad over the price of tacos or what's the I don't know what it is It seemed to me Like it was I don't know it seems like back in the old day
Starting point is 00:05:47 Shannon when they would do the 24-7 belt In the WVE the hardcore belt. And people would just, there was just a melee of people. Usually Al Snow was involved in those. That's right. Yeah, you might have been done it. It's crazy.
Starting point is 00:06:03 And it just goes on and on. If you look at the videos, the two things you notice is the fights don't stop. And they just seem to add people exponentially. And then everyone has their phone out filming. Wow. Like they're like. Well, yeah. Everybody's got to be a spectator.
Starting point is 00:06:23 Everybody wants to be the one to make the videos. So, so what happens is there's this group of people fighting. And then there are like dozens of other people that surround it filming the videos. And they end up Shannon fighting to get spots to film the videos. You think I'm kidding about this. Go look at it. I've never. Yeah, I did not hear anything.
Starting point is 00:06:44 It's crazy. It starts at the Taco Bell. And it looks to be going down the street. towards the bars down there, like towards Wicks and O'Shea's, Baxter, all that stuff. And it just seems it's almost like a
Starting point is 00:07:00 the Lord of the Rings trilogy of fights. It just keeps going and going. And I was never told what it was over. I'm sure it was something very important. But it is
Starting point is 00:07:15 and you know, you look at it and you go, the police end up showing up. The police, have none of you seen these videos? I saw clips on social media. Okay. So is it on like Twitter or like where should I go?
Starting point is 00:07:31 I don't know. It's like, I don't know. There's, they just show up on some Instagram accounts. Like there's a Louisville news or something. Just look around. I feel like they're on Facebook and Instagram and TikTok. You'll find it.
Starting point is 00:07:47 I don't have a particular account. Drew, you saw them. If you're seeing it like that? No, it's chaos everywhere. Was that in protest of the Mid-City Mall? Is that what they were doing? No, I think it's just, I think it's just a Saturday night out. Okay, I got it now on Facebook.
Starting point is 00:08:02 Okay. So do you see what I'm talking about? Yeah, there's like, by the way, that's the official news. You don't need WDRB or WAVE or WHAS. You go to Louisville News Facebook. Look at that. Can you imagine you're just walking down the street? You're just like, I got to get a taco, a Taco Bell.
Starting point is 00:08:26 And you run into that? I mean, what are you doing? What are you doing? Running the other way. That's what I was going to say, man. These people stick around and record it. I'm getting the heck out of there, man. I'm getting.
Starting point is 00:08:36 Are you? Shannon, are you getting out of there? You're recording it? I'm probably leaving. I used to go down there every weekend, you know, in my younger days. I was in that. I was, you know, Phoenix Hill Tavern, all those. bars down there. I was down there every weekend. It makes me sad that area has completely
Starting point is 00:08:53 those bars. I mean, you're right, Chin, and that used to be where you went out in a little. Yeah. I would say years from like 2000 to 2008, nine, something like that, right? I mean, that was where you went, was that part of town. I'm not walking with you to O'Shea's anymore. Not after seeing that. No, it's not. It's not like that all the time. I don't know. I feel like they would have They'd have the streets barricaded off if it was like that all the time. What if you and I were going our annual walk down to O'Shea's and that happens. We're getting the hell out of there. Maybe we should.
Starting point is 00:09:28 Here's what I bet you. I bet you it's safer next weekend that it was last weekend. Probably so. It's going to be a heavy police presence. I'm just telling you, if you want to be like, whoa, that was in Louisville. First of all, go to Louisville News and look at these videos from Saturday night. Are you seeing them, right? Is Drew showing them to you there?
Starting point is 00:09:48 No, I haven't seen him yet. I'm going to look at during the break probably. Just absolutely wild stuff. Also, I don't know. Did any of you watch sports science on ESPN? Of course. The guy who did it, what was his name, John? Brinkus.
Starting point is 00:10:04 Brinkus. He passed away this weekend. Sports science was the thing where they would show, what would you say, Drew, they'd show like the numbers of how a high jumper, how far he jumped or how fast somebody went to Ken Griffey, you know, caught a ball to the outfield. I always as a kid thought, I just found it interesting because they would take some guy and they would say, you realize he runs X meters per second or whatever, and you go, wow, that seems like amazing stuff. You know, they don't do that stuff anymore, but I actually enjoyed it back in the day.
Starting point is 00:10:40 Yeah, that was groundbreaking stuff. Even if they were lying to us, it was very cool to see like the exact velocity, velocity if the ball was hit. You think they were making it up? Well, he's faster than a gazelle right here at this point in this clip. I didn't know the science behind it, but it was a nice, it was a new angle to sports that we'd never seen before. I like the idea you think they just made it up.
Starting point is 00:10:59 They can throw it farther. They showed you the science, though. Presumably it was science. Ryan, I kind of, I bet those weren't your favorite segments. I don't feel like the science part would have made you interested. No, it kind of made me my head hurt a little bit, trying to figure out what the heck they were talking about. But I remember I did see one on Nolan Ryan one time. He said like the ball coming out of his hand was like 109 miles an hour out of his hand.
Starting point is 00:11:23 Then the time it crossed home plate it was 104 or something like that. Did you believe it? I believed every second of it. But that's not a huge difference. 109 to 104. Did that blow your mind or something? Yeah, that it was 109 coming out of his hand. That would be by far the fastest pitch ever recorded.
Starting point is 00:11:41 Okay. Well, I'm glad that clearly stuck with you. all these years later. Okay. Well, good. Well, so rest in peace to John Brinkus. And then last, you know, I don't, this may surprise you, Shannon. I don't know a lot about war.
Starting point is 00:12:01 Oh, really? In the military. Okay. No, I mean, I don't, I'm not like, you know. Well, some people really will study, like, military tactics and all this stuff. I don't know anything about it. But I did think this was interesting. Did you see, Shannon, that, you know.
Starting point is 00:12:15 Ukraine, like, made this big attack on Russia yesterday. Did you see that? I did see that. And did you see how they did it? Because I think it's fascinating. They, over the course of a year and a half, made this, like, mobile drone shooters, right? And they found a way to get semi-trucks into the country. So they just, over the course of a year and a half, got semi-trucks into Russia.
Starting point is 00:12:42 and they did it like they would go okay and they would just leave the semi trucks on the side of the road for a period of time and in those semi trucks which looked to the naked eye just as trucks where you would drive you know goods to they had a mobile drone launcher and they placed these trucks all over Russia so in like 25 different spots or however many I don't know how many spots, but spots all over Russia, ranging from the part next to Ukraine, all the way to the ends of Siberia. And then at the same moment, they launched these drones attacks from these trucks,
Starting point is 00:13:25 and the moment, they all went out at the same time, and they took out one third of Russia's Air Force in their country by doing these trucks. And then they had it to where if anybody tried to get next to the truck to see what they did, the truck exploded. there's people that are saying that it's one of the most brilliant military in like decades but it does sound kind of amazing isn't it that you just have all these semi trucks and then
Starting point is 00:13:50 you launch them all from inside yeah and that nobody went up to see like what those trucks were at any point they would put them they would put well i don't know if they left them the whole year but they would put them on abandoned roads yeah that people like never went down and because russia didn't think it could happen from inside their country they weren't ready for for it and all of a sudden so it not they didn't shoot them from somewhere else they actually shot them from places inside russia but they're playing the long game right imagine like you know it took a year and a half to execute a year and a half right i mean that's a long time a year and a half to get it done just listen to you tell the story it sounds like hollywood sounds like a movie that
Starting point is 00:14:31 somebody made that they could pull that off like that's amazing and i'm sure there's military people out there that clearly know more about it maybe you're more or less impressive with it. I keep seeing all these people from around the world saying this is one of the most brilliant strikes of all time, blah, blah, blah. But just the idea that you would, for a year and a half plan to take these trucks there. And then they made it to where if anybody was to ever come close to them, the truck explodes so that they could never catch it. And then it worked. Imagine you do all that and it doesn't work. Yeah. Or something that doesn't launch. And they took out a third of their aircraft missile, our aircraft, uh, long-rate.
Starting point is 00:15:09 missile shooters in like five minutes. So kind of amazing. Who's up next? Junior. Junior, go ahead, Jr. Hey, guys, I got the best sports trivia question in the history of sports trivia, and it's about Major League Baseball. Who has the career record for most home runs hit on Mother's Day?
Starting point is 00:15:32 It's a two-part question. I'm going to go ahead and tell you, I don't think this is the best question in the history of trivia, no matter what your answer, unless you're answering. answer is like Mother Teresa. I don't think it's going to be the best ever. But we'll play along. Who has the most home runs in the history of Mother's Day? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:15:50 I'll say Albert Poo-Holes. Who is it? Yes, but you're wrong. It's Ken Griffey Jr. That was actually going to be my next guess, Shannon. Literally, I was going to say Ken Griffey Jr. Okay, go ahead. Who has the most career home run in Major League Baseball history hit on Friday?
Starting point is 00:16:11 King Griffey Jr. Well, I mean, I think the only way this is interesting is if it's also King Griffey Jr. It is interesting and it is also Ken Griffey Jr. It just speaks to his natural talent. Hey, Mom, I'm going to hit a home run for you today. Hey, Dad, I'm on D. For you today on Father's Day. I just always found.
Starting point is 00:16:29 Okay. Well, that, no, that is interesting. I'll agree with you. That's interesting. So I appreciate the call. You, Ryan, you think people can do it and honor their families like that? I mean, you've seen people like promise a home run to a kid, a sick kid or somebody they've met. Sometimes they follow through and it does happen.
Starting point is 00:16:47 They never do the story, though, when it doesn't happen, Drew. You always hear those stories about how they meet the kid and then they say I'm going to hit a home run. They do. But then you never hear the story. I'm sure it has to happen where they didn't hit a home run. That one, it doesn't feel like comes up as much. No, where are my videos of crying kids that were promised a home run and they didn't deliver in these big moments? All the kid wanted was a home run for their birthday, and you let them down.
Starting point is 00:17:12 That to me is the more interesting stat. Guy promised home run to a dying child and struck out five times in the game. Yeah, they don't get, what's the guy who makes you cry? Tom Rinaldi doesn't do pieces about the time the guy went 0 for four with a lazy ground out to short after those. The little guy said that. Tours A.C.L. Toyette tears his ACL in the first. process. When you look in the mirror in the morning, if you see spots on your skin that
Starting point is 00:17:43 worry you, the areas your skin won't heal or bleeds unexpectedly, then you might need to go see a dermatologist. The Kentucky Skin Cancer Center has locations in Owensboro, Bowling Green, Franklin and Powderly, Kentucky. Shannon, somebody said every time I say powderly, I always say it like I don't think it exists. And they're like it does exist. Yeah. 100, 100, go to Kentucky Skin Cancer Center or 270, 840,000. 4-2-19-99. It's the Kentucky Skin Cancer Center.com. Take care of yourself. You're not just a patient. They will treat you like family. We will take a break. Be right back. KSR. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind.
Starting point is 00:18:25 Highlights are trending. Opinions are flying. And nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where Sports Slice comes in. I'm Timbo. Every episode, we're cutting through the noise. Breaking down the plays, the controversies, and the stories behind the headlines. We go straight to the source, the athlete themselves, their locker room stories, their reactions, the stuff nobody gets to hear. The laughs, the drama, the triumphs, the moments that never make the highlight real. From viral moments to historic games, from buzzer beaders to controversial calls, we break it down, give you context, and ask the questions everybody wants answered.
Starting point is 00:18:58 Sportslice brings you closer to the action with stories told by the people who live them. Listen to Sports Slice on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more, follow Timbo Slic Life 12 in the TikTok podcast network on TikTok. What's up, guys? This is Clifford Taylor the 4th. And on my podcast, The Clivert Show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff. Like being an internet famous referee. We're in the middle of a game. This linebacker, this guy, this linebacker walks up to me.
Starting point is 00:19:26 He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Time out. Quarterback on office blue 42. A rep, my mama want you to wave at her. What? Hey, Miss Parker. Listen to the Clifford Show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:19:51 I actually drop better when I'm high. It heightens my senses, calms me down. If anything, I'm more careful. Honestly, it just helps me focus. That's probably what the driver who killed a four-year-old told himself. And now, he's in prison. You see, no matter what you tell yourself, If you feel different, you drive different.
Starting point is 00:20:14 So if you're high, just don't drive. Brought to you by NHTSA and the Ad Council. Why is everyone obsessed with romance right now? Like everyone. Your co-worker who, quote unquote, doesn't read, is reading romance. Your mom, book talk, the entire internet. I'm Sanjana Basker. I'm Tyler McCall.
Starting point is 00:20:38 And this is Radio 831, a romance podcast. The books, the tropes, the adaptations, the drama, the discourse. And what all of it says about how we actually love, yearn, and obsess? We're going to Wuthering Heights, which, for the record, is not a romance novel. And yet it has haunted the romance genre for 200 years. We're getting into dark romance, age gaps, certain Russian hockey players. And sentient objects, in love, which is a thing. That's the kind of conversation we're having every episode.
Starting point is 00:21:12 Listen to the Radio 831 podcast on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. This song always makes me like, they would play this. Wasn't there a show, Ryan, that would show like baseball highlights or something? Oh, yeah. This week in baseball. This week in baseball. This week in baseball. That's right.
Starting point is 00:21:37 Yeah. I remember as a kid watching that a lot, right? Yep. Come on like what, Saturday mornings or something. Yep. And then they would, what would they show? Because I do remember this show, but I don't remember what was on it. They would show the past week's highlight sometime.
Starting point is 00:21:53 They usually have a cool little feature on something, on a team, or a guy. What was the name of the host? Mel Allen. Mel Allen. Okay. I do remember this song from doing that. The account, one of the accounts that has these videos, Shannon, W.T.F. Louisville. I can guess what WTF means.
Starting point is 00:22:14 Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. One person writes, Matt, I was at that Taco Bell the night all those fights happened. It was wild. And people kept running in from all over to video it. And you're right, more of the fights started with people trying to video it and then getting in fights. I didn't think it would ever end. Wow. You know, that's close to your neck of the woods too.
Starting point is 00:22:41 But you can kind of see it is close to my neck. But you can see the inclination to you see this fight and you want to video it so that people will watch your video, I guess. You have that fighting for views and likes. But also, like, I don't even remember who it is that post these videos. So I don't know if that really helps you. But either way, just be careful when you go to Taco Bell. Chip says, here's an interesting, another interesting story from the Lafayette, Madisonville game. Tom Rogers from Madisonville.
Starting point is 00:23:13 played football at UK. He was in charge of video in the game for Madisonville, and he recorded the entire game. But he forgot to remove the lens cap. No. So he missed the historical game. No. That can't be true.
Starting point is 00:23:27 Come on now. That can't be true. Did they have lens caps back in 1970? Tom Rogers is a Madisonville legend. I can't believe he would do that. You think, okay. Do we call truth or do you throw the challenge flag or not on that story that he forgot that Tom Rogers forgot the lens cap on the camera? I'm throwing the challenge flag.
Starting point is 00:23:52 I think Tom Rogers slept and missed the whole game and that was the story he came up with. Or maybe he like put it, I don't know, Shane, what do you think? Like put it without someone manning it and then left and didn't rise. He left the lens cap on. I mean, I guess that's possible. But like when you look through the lens, you see that it's all black. because there's a cap on it. Which means he would have had to have not been there to do that.
Starting point is 00:24:15 Right. He would have had to set it and forget it and then go somewhere else. But you would think you would have it all focused before you just left it. You know, you would focus. Any novice cameraman would at least have it focused. So you're saying you think Chip's lie. Yeah. I don't think there's any truth.
Starting point is 00:24:32 Not true. I'm going to believe Chip. I don't know how you would just make that up. Tom is a legend. I think he just did. I just think he had one bad moment. At a brain fart. How do you make it up?
Starting point is 00:24:45 Ask Chip. He just did it. I believe Chip. With the end of the Knicks Pacer series, NBA on T&T has now ended. Drew, after I think they've been doing it for 31 years. The NBA has been on T&T in some form. And then the NBA show with Barkley and those guys have been on since I think the late 90s. they are now going to move to ESPN,
Starting point is 00:25:13 but it will still be produced by TNT, but they will no longer be on TNT. And I think the question for me, we talked to, but now it's over. I saw on their final show, Shaq said to ESPN, ESPN, ESPN, don't blank with us. Do you think ESPN will ruin it?
Starting point is 00:25:29 Will they try to put Stephen A or someone on it and ruin what I think is objectively the best sports television show that has ever existed. I think they absolutely will. I saw Shaq's comments with the full F-bomb on TV on his last show. You don't see that a lot, yeah. No, but he even said, he's like, last time doing this, whatever. But yeah, I am worried that we'll have Kendrick Perkins sitting between Charles Barkley and Shaq.
Starting point is 00:25:57 I better not see Kishk. I think they'll work in their ESPN people and ruin what has been a great thing for decades. I mean, you've been in television in a lot. lot in your life, Ryan. One thing I've learned about television is that everybody thinks that they can make whatever it is better, right? So when I did Hey Kentucky, when I signed the agreement, part of my signing was, you will let me do whatever I want. And they said yes. And when my boss, he kept saying yes, and then the boss changed, and he tried to do stuff to change it. And I fought it off, but it was hard. Do you think ESPN will be like, oh, this is a great show, but you know what would make it better?
Starting point is 00:26:42 Throw in a little Stephen A. Like, they'll screw it up if they do that. They will. You can guarantee they're going to do that. They want to put Stephen A or Kendrick Perkins or some of their own guys on there. Kinder Perkins is awful, by the way. They cannot, and I know he's my – don't tell anybody I said that, Shedding. Because, like, technically – he's a co-worker.
Starting point is 00:26:57 You cannot put Kendrick – you're one of them, but definitely Kinder Perkins. But go ahead, Ryan. I feel like no matter how hard they try, though, it will never be the same. Just those four guys on TNT What if they keep just the four guys? You don't think they can be the same somewhere else? Well, they have to keep the same producers. They have to keep the same everything.
Starting point is 00:27:16 They are. They're keeping the same. They're even doing it in Atlanta. They're still doing it where they are. You know, Ernie's reaction was... You know, the way Ernie reacted, like, you know, he teared up and even Shaq was turned up a little bit. I think they know it's never going to be the same.
Starting point is 00:27:31 And no matter how much they try to say it, ESB, they'll get their fingers in it, and it will not be the same anymore. They just can't. They're going to want to put Stephen Hay in it. They are. They are. They have to establish personalities they want to inject in there.
Starting point is 00:27:46 They can't, though. What makes that great that those dudes like each other, and it's natural. And if you start throwing somebody else in, there's just no way to work. They got to just stay away from it. And they can be pretty critical, and I don't know if ESPN will let them be critical like they are sometimes.
Starting point is 00:28:07 Like, you know, Charles Barkle will say this so-and-so stinks or whatever. You know, I don't know if ESP don't let them do all that. Well, they better because that is the best show in sports on television. You cannot screw it up. Who's next? We're up against the break here. I got 27. Okay, I'll tell you what.
Starting point is 00:28:22 Well, then just tell whoever that is. We'll be right back. 859-280-2287. It's KSR. T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J. He'll make them pay. Now more of Kentucky.
Starting point is 00:28:34 Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. Welcome back, Tuggy Sports Radio. Summer's coming fast. Cornbread hemp is here to help you enjoy it. Cornbread's got the goods to help you feel your best. From oils to topicles to daily relief, infused gummy, seltzers, it's all there. And to make the most of this summertime feeling try, cornbread's new seltzers pack
Starting point is 00:28:55 with delicious fruit flavor. Just use my code KSR. Check out 20% off your first order. It is cornbreadhemp.com. Use my code, KSR, cornbreadhemp.com. This is the good life. One person writes, Matt, I'm driving back from a girls weekend in South Carolina. Drew Laney from Mount Sterling is driving.
Starting point is 00:29:18 She's the queen of the zipper merge. I've seen more people doing it recently. Is that the KSR effect? No, but I still am a big advocate. Shannon did a really good one on Saturday. I was proud of myself. Just got right up. up there, waited for the truck, the semi, cut right in.
Starting point is 00:29:38 Cut the semi off? No, you have to use the semi because it takes the semi. Truckers right now driving around and listening to you are probably so bad. The trucker knows it takes it a minute to get going. Yeah. And because it takes it a minute to get going, that's when you zipper merge and you go. And remember, I've been, people keep sending me studies, Drew, it is quicker for the general collective to zipper merge.
Starting point is 00:30:05 So I'm an advocate in most situations. Even though I feel bad when I do it, it's still, I think, the right thing to do. I still think you might be confusing just cutting someone off in traffic with a zipper merch. I think these are two different techniques. Yes. I think the zipper merge is more of a collective effort. You're all one on the road, a lot of teamwork involved, sometimes just go into the front
Starting point is 00:30:28 and, you know, pulling in there. What is the difference between cutting someone off and a zipper merge? Everyone's a willing participant in the zipper merge. Well, I can't collectively, Ryan, talk to everyone and say, let's all do this. I can only control my behavior. When you're going down the interstate and the left lane is closed and the line of traffic's all on the right, the guy that drives all the way up to the very end of the left lane and then got in front of the truck. That's a zipper merge.
Starting point is 00:30:55 That's not a zipper merge. That's not a zipper merge. It should be, no. Zipper merge is when you've got two lanes of cars. you're taking turns going one at a time. No, no. There's a process. Yes.
Starting point is 00:31:08 Yeah, but no, the only reason there's not a process is because the other people are not participating. What you just, the situation you just described, Brian, is where you're supposed to do a zipper merge. Where you're talking about a lane gets closed. Okay. What are you laughing at? I'm being serious. Okay. So there's a lane closed.
Starting point is 00:31:31 And then you start, you know, Shannon, you start seeing signs. Lane closed in 3,000 feet, 2,000 feet, etc. A zipper merge is that you all should use that period of time and then merge at the point that the lane is closed. It is not everyone. No, it's not. That's what people, no, no, no. That's what we've been told to do over time.
Starting point is 00:31:57 And that is actually less effective. The zipper merge is. starting farther back, which is not what you're supposed to do. It's less effective for humanity. We had to put this up for a vote between the four of us. I don't know. The public is not right just because it's the public. I'm just saying in any other form of life, go cut somebody off and see what happens.
Starting point is 00:32:21 I agree with you, Shannon. It would be rude, but zipper merge is different. It is scientific, Shannon. Yeah. It is. I'm supposed to be at the front of the line. Let me cut everybody else off. No, it's not.
Starting point is 00:32:35 Everyone should be doing it. The point is, if everybody did it, it wouldn't be cutting people off because we would be doing the most efficient thing, Drew. You see what I'm saying? So you're thinking you're kind of, you're leading and everyone else is just behind on what we're doing here. You think you have the way. What I'm doing is trying to take humanity to a better place.
Starting point is 00:32:56 So you're just really a man of the people with your Zipmerge. I'm a man of trying to lead the people to a brighter tomorrow. It's basically what we're saying. It doesn't sound like you buy it. One person writes, Matt, I was at the golf scramble on Friday. I think it was the most fun one you've had. Didn't get a lot of rain. Ryan and Mario were nice to everyone.
Starting point is 00:33:19 Thank you for putting it on. I do think it was one of amazingly, Ryan, it didn't rain. I mean, we got through that whole day after it poured. it literally kind of stopped right before we started, and by the end of the day, it was nice. It was a beautiful day out on the golf course, and I think that may be the fastest scramble we've ever had. Usually we're stuck out until 6 or 7 o'clock.
Starting point is 00:33:39 It was right by 5 5 or 5.5. Yeah, there wasn't any backups. On my side, anyway, didn't see me any backups on the way. It really wasn't. It was great. I heard a rumor that Judge Gabe is the only person that hit the CNS Pools bullseye the whole day. He did.
Starting point is 00:33:57 He hit the play. bull's eye he won I don't know what they gave away but he won something I think he's the only good prizes yeah wild eggs if you chipped in this little bucket you got like a free meal and I got that one I was able to hit in that game hit the pool thing and uh what was who won I think did we ever find out who won I did not defend my crown I don't know what won on my course but it was not me I think the scores were better on you on your course Matt than true scores wild cats a little tougher yeah well it was a lot of fun and
Starting point is 00:34:27 I thank you to the university club for hosting it, and all the people that came out. It seemed like one of the more positive experiences we've had on, so appreciate all of it. Who's up next? Mike. Mike, go ahead, Mike. All right, a couple of things.
Starting point is 00:34:44 Big Travis was an umpire. He actually had an umpiring school here in Lexington that I attended when I was in college, and it was really good. And I think it's something they're missing now as far as referee, coverage and stuff in this area. The other thing is, if you think Kentucky baseball was painful, how would you like to be banned
Starting point is 00:35:04 to your Texas, number one and number two over off seed and the entire thing, both got eliminated. And then lastly, it is really a douchebag move to do what you do on the other. Okay, that's stop it now right now. Holiday. Whiskey theme of holiday right there.
Starting point is 00:35:21 What's the name of that caller? What's the name of the caller? Mike, have you studied the science of the zipper merge. He already dropped the mic and hung up. He's gone. He's not interested in the science. He's interested in feeling, Shannon, not facts.
Starting point is 00:35:37 And I'm just trying to promote facts as to what it is. The number one and two seeds lost in the baseball tournament, Ryan, that's the first time that's happened since 1999. And Tennessee has a chance to go down today. They're one of the top seeds. LSU has a chance to go down. So it feels like if there was ever going to be a year for a random team to win the baseball tournament, this might be the one. A lot of SEC teams down.
Starting point is 00:36:03 You know, we had 14 teams in. I think there's only six left in the tournament. You know, I'm pulling from Murray State to take out Ole Miss today also. So there could be a lot of more SEC teams fall out today. Speaking of an SEC team, an SEC coach made some news. Though this is – I'm going to play you. This is the Coastal Carolina coach. Okay, Coastal Carolina is hosting a regional, and Florida was in their region.
Starting point is 00:36:32 Florida got eliminated. And I guess Florida was upset because a game started later than it was supposed to for rain reasons. And they got mad and took it out on the, well, you'll hear the Coastal Carolina coach, after they win to go to the Super Regionals, Coastal Carolina coach goes to the press conference, and he had this to say about the Florida coach. What about that, Shannon? Thinks he can come and bully people around. Calls out the Florida coach for being a jerk and trying to bully people around.
Starting point is 00:37:06 Do you like that? I like that he's calling him out. Absolutely. I would like to know specifically how he was bullying them, but I like that this guy. Well, Drew, there's a video. Have anybody seen the video of the coach? He's kind of like giving them the here to four. I guess he's mad that they were.
Starting point is 00:37:23 postponing the start of the game, which was going to make Florida have to play later, and then they might have to play again. He was upset that they were delaying the start of his game because if they won, it wouldn't give them enough rest for the night game. Well, he ended up losing, so it didn't matter anyway. But, Drew, do you like calling out Florida's Hall of Fame coach and saying, don't be picking on my field crew? I love it.
Starting point is 00:37:47 We need more of this. Normalize calling out other coaches with behind-the-scenes stories who wouldn't otherwise know. A lot of times this would happen, and it would just never see the light of the day. The Coastal Carolina coach would take his anger home with him to bed, but this guy said, no, I'm telling everybody. I'm tattel telling in this press conference, and now we can see the Florida coach. I've seen the clip you're talking about, just berating someone who probably had nothing to do with any of the decisions, just someone working the field that day. And I'm glad he got called out for it. Bring more drama to light.
Starting point is 00:38:16 I agree. Call out coach, especially I'm for Ryan, calling out coaches for being jerks to people just. doing their job. I love the Coastal Carolina coach. I'm a fan of his now. I don't know who this guy is, but I'm a huge fan as well. You know, it's always been a kind of cardinal rule. Coaches don't say anything bad about other coaches.
Starting point is 00:38:35 But if something like that, the guy trying to bully the field maintenance, like it's their fault. It was raining that day. They had nothing to do with it. They're trying to get the field ready for you to play. Shut up. Hey, 59-280-2287. Calm down, Ron.

Well, one of the guys who did the voice of John Redcorn. Does anybody know that character? Anyway, shot at his house by neighbor in Texas. Whoa.
Starting point is 00:39:40 Whoa. Yeah, that's by your neighbor. That's, well, it's unfortunately sad to hear that. We'll take a break and be right back. This Kentucky Sports Radio. Last night, a blown. call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending, opinions are flying, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where
Starting point is 00:40:00 Sports Slice comes in. I'm Timbo. Every episode, we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the plays, the controversies, and the stories behind the headlines. We go straight to the source, the athletes themselves, their locker room stories, their reactions, the stuff nobody gets to hear. The laughs, the drama, the triumphs, the moments that never make the highlight real. Starting point is 00:40:42 What's up, guys? This is CliverTaylor the 4th. And on my podcast, The Cliverts Show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff. being an internet famous referee. We're in the middle of a game. This linebacker walks up to me, he goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Carderback on office blue 42.
Starting point is 00:41:05 Hey, ref, my mama want you to wave at her. What? Where's she at? Hey, Miss Parker. Listen to the Clifford show on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. I actually drop better when I'm high. It heightens my senses, calms me down.
Starting point is 00:41:27 If anything, I'm more careful. Honestly, it just helps me focus. That's probably what the driver who killed a four-year-old told himself. And now he's in prison. You see, no matter what you tell yourself, if you feel different, you drive different. So if you're high, just don't drive. Brought to you by NHTSA and the Ad Council.
Starting point is 00:41:50 Why is everyone obsessed with romance right now? Like everyone? Your co-worker who, quote unquote, doesn't read, is reading romance. Your mom, book talk, the entire internet. I'm Sanjana Basker. I'm Tyler McCall. And this is Radio 831, a romance podcast. The books, the tropes, the adaptations, the drama, the discourse.
Starting point is 00:42:18 And what all of it says about how we actually love, yearn, and obsess.
Starting point is 00:42:43 Listen to the Radio 831 podcast on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm glad to see that I have some. some support on the text machine. 772, 745254. The text of the day, one person writes, Matt, being the only one that understands Zipmerge the correct way, is almost infuriating. It's very simple. And I don't understand how these other three guys who are smart can't wrap their minds
Starting point is 00:43:14 around it. Totally agree with you on that. Yeah. It is very. Cutting in line. That's not cutting. Okay. So let me read you this one.
Starting point is 00:43:23 One person writes, Matt, I feel like this one. help those guys understand. Think about the two lanes at McDonald's. What do people do? Do they either all go in one long lane and then get to the front and decide which way to go? Or are there two long lanes that at the end after you order, zipper merge together? Huge difference. That's the way it could be in traffic.
Starting point is 00:43:47 Exactly. Big difference. That's a forced zipper merge. There's no one navigating our zipper merge on the open road. People could just decide to sit in one lane, but they've over time collectively realized to get into that it works better. So that should be what society is like. We should follow the McDonald's drive-thru. McDonald's has showcased that this is the best way.
Starting point is 00:44:13 Well, we need Ronald McDonald out there on the highway directing traffic. See, I've left you speechless, Ryan, because you know you are. This person makes the right point. No, I think most people listening, then, the responses that Drew and I have gotten are definitely anti- Our text machine says other things. It seems to be a lot. What text machine?
Starting point is 00:44:30 You don't have a text machine. What is your text machine? Ryan has the original text machine. Yeah. My cell phone, I got some things I can't even say on the air. I'll tell you what. You ask for this yourself, Ryan. Those of you who know Ryan's text machine, text him and tell him who's correct.
Starting point is 00:44:48 I think he would like to hear from you. Okay. Yeah, that'd be great. I can't wait to get those. Well, you got a new phone. It should be ready. McDonald's. It does work finally.
Starting point is 00:45:00 Oh, you got a new phone? I had to get a new phone. Finally got it to work. Still green bubbles. Did you get an iPhone? No, absolutely not. Android for an Android. What is your brand?
Starting point is 00:45:12 What is the name of it? Samsung Galaxy 21, I think, is what I'm working with these days. Did you get the insurance? Of course I got the insurance. Had to get the warranty. Yeah. Samsung Galaxy 201. How many, where are we on the galaxy world?
Starting point is 00:45:27 Is this one of the newer ones or is this an old one? No, it's definitely an old one, probably before COVID, I think. How many galaxies are there? 40? Maybe. Okay, let's, Shannon, look up. What's where are we on the Samsung? Looks like they're on the 25.
Starting point is 00:45:44 Oh. And you got 21 new? 21. 21. Yeah, my insurance was a swap one for the other. Oh, so you got a swap on a job. 21. So in perpetuity, you can only get 21. Correct. And you got insurance on this one that also will only get you 21s? Well, you can, you know, pay the upgrade if you want to pay another $500.
Starting point is 00:46:06 So you didn't pay that. So basically, Shannon, the cell phone technology in 2019 is going to be Ryan's forever. Right. Like he can never. Well, I mean, what's the 25 going to do the 21 can't do? Well, I mean, I would assume the process. speed is quicker. The camera's better.
Starting point is 00:46:28 I'm sure there's going to be AI features integrated in new ones. And, Ryan, you're just never going to get any of those. No, I don't need any of that. I just need to be able to text you guys, make a few phone calls. So you bought insurance again? Oh, yeah. On a phone that's six years old? Yes.
Starting point is 00:46:44 Yes. So if I drop it and crack it and break it again. But how much would the 21 be if you just bought it? If it's such an old model, it seems like that would be easier than the... conceivably be now. I bet it's very cheap because no one would buy it. Yeah, I don't know if I could. I just got the insurance and it has a swap.
Starting point is 00:47:00 But did you look into it? Did you look into maybe go? So how much you paying it on $100? Here's some for $180 brand new on eBay. Okay, so that's good. All right, so it's $180. How much are you paying a month in insurance? I just paid $100 deductible, so I don't know what the monthly charge is.
Starting point is 00:47:18 No, but going forward, how much a month is your insurance? I don't know. That might be good to know. It could be a two or three hundred dollars a month. Because you may have ended up paying, like let's say you're paying $20 a month in insurance. You may end up paying in eight months what the whole phone would have cost, period. It's possible. You already pay for that phone twice over.
Starting point is 00:47:42 I mean, almost certainly it's the case, Ryan, that you are going to, in a year, pay for the phone and insurance and still not have paid for the phone. Yeah, the insurance is not $20. I think it's like single digits, four or five. But you don't know. I don't know. My phone is just buzzing like crazy right now. I really appreciate that. Good.
Starting point is 00:48:09 Are they agreeing with us, or are they agreeing with Matt? I can't, like, you've got to at least know how much the insurance is and make a good financial decision. That's all I'm asking. Okay. I'll take out my new bill and see what it is. Why you're the 21 is only going to go down. Maybe in a year it's $100. Maybe it's such a good phone.
Starting point is 00:48:28 It'll become a collector's item. It'll go up. But that's why you don't do these things. Because the value goes down, and if you ever need to replace it and you want to buy the same one you have, it will be cheaper than the amount of insurance you paid up until that point. You guys do remember who you're talking to.
Starting point is 00:48:43 I break stuff, lose stuff. We're trying to help you. Who's next? Let's go to Joe. Joe, just got a minute, quickly. I was going to say something about that drone thing, but when the Samsung 21 came out, Kentucky basketball was 4 and 7 in coming off a 20-point loss to Alabama, had already lost to Richmond, Wake Forest, North Carolina, Louisville.
Starting point is 00:49:11 I'm glad he's gone. I love you, Mark Pope. Team Android, Ryan. This was, he bought the, he bought the Samsung 21, was right after a little. Olivier Saar missed another open jumper, Drew, to win the game. So there you go. Thank you. All right, Ryan.
Starting point is 00:49:31 Thanks for all these entertainers on the way out. We will be back tomorrow. Enjoy your Monday on the second of June. This has been Kentucky Sports Radio.
