Welcome back.
It is our number two here at Kentucky Sports Radio.
859-280-2287 at the Virginia in downtown Somerset.
Great, great crowd here.
Just awesome.
Very thankful that everybody made the trip out here.
This is one of the best crowds we've ever had in Somerset.
It is June, for goodness sake.
The rest of, you couldn't get crowds like this for any other team sports shows right before the biggest game of the year.
So to get this in June, that's awesome, right?
I got to tell you something that's happening here later this month.
What's that?
Friday, June 27th, John Schneider from the Dukes of Hadger is going to perform on this stage.
But wait, there's more.
The next day on Saturday the 28th, the General Lee is going to jump the fountain here in downtown Somerset.
That is amazing.
Wait a minute.
Yes.
Yeah.
Is that right?
Yeah.
Yeah.
And it generally is going to jump the fountain.
Generally he's going to jump the fountain.
It's right down here.
I haven't seen this fountain yet, but it's a good size fountain, right?
I mean, we're not talking.
Alan, are you just closing the streets and letting just rogues run away from boss hog here in the middle of the street?
It's a little more sophisticated.
All right.
John Schneider.
Well, wow.
I don't know, my high school mother when she would have loved knowing that John.
How old is John Snyder now?
He's got to be in his 70s, I would think, isn't he?
Well, let's go see John Schneider rock it out.
Rock it out.
What was the other guy's name?
Do you know the other guy?
Well, we talked about this.
Tom Wolopat.
Tom Wolopay.
Yeah, yeah.
859-280, 2287.
One person writes, Matt, I might have to listen to the Ross Dellinger interview.
Yes, it's on the Matt Jones show.
But I can't believe that Kentucky basketball was the team to step up.
Good for Mitch taking up for UK basketball.
Well, I don't know if it was Mitch or for.
if it was a coach.
I just know that he said the dissenting voice in the room was UK basketball.
And I think most of us agree we're glad about that.
We think our basketball program should get more money.
It's just if you're a football fan, that's not going to make you very happy.
All right.
Baseball, let's say they have to choose between putting good money into baseball or women's basketball.
You've got to choose one of those two.
Which one you choose, Shannon?
At Kentucky.
Yeah.
At Kentucky.
Because, like, there are some sort of.
schools, that choice would be easy. Mississippi State, it's easy. Do baseball. South Carolina,
it's easy. Do women's basketball. What are you doing at Kentucky? Okay, so first of all,
I would prefer to split it evenly. But if you say you can't do that, I would say you've got to give
a little more to women's basketball. I think we have a better chance of being really good at
women's basketball than baseball, in part because of just our weather, right? Like, I mean, we
we don't get great weather until the season's almost over, whereas the team's,
in Florida are playing in the sun all year round.
And I just think our fan base has shown more attraction to women's basketball.
So I think I would do women's basketball.
What about you?
I guess I'll give the argument for baseball then.
Went to the College World Series last year.
Matthew Mitchell, though, consistently went to elite eights.
I mean, we never made the Final Four.
But they went consistently the Elite Eight.
But he's not here, though.
But Kenny Brooks has been to a Final Four, so, I mean, you know that he can do it.
I guess has the SEC women's basketball programs gotten better than ours,
whereas our baseball program has gotten better than other SEC baseball programs?
Maybe I'll end up being wrong.
I think our women's basketball team has a chance to be amongst the top three or four teams
consistently starting real soon.
I mean, South Carolina is on a different level, and the LSU is really good,
but I don't see why we can't slide into that third spot here pretty soon.
and they've kind of proven that this past season.
I only got upset in the second round of the tournament,
but their regular season, they were knocking off all the big schools.
Yeah, 859-280-2287.
I'm going to go to the phones on the other issue,
but we wanted to play something, Shannon.
You showed me this.
Yes.
Last night, you know, the NICs, or excuse me, the Pacers and the Thunder,
it was a crazy game.
Thunder led the entire game,
and then the Pacers made a shot with 0.3 seconds to take the lead
and to win the game.
Now, you've probably seen the clip by now.
You've heard the announcers, but I bet none of you have heard the Korean call of the game.
Have you heard the Korean call the game yet?
Hey, on, Rick.
Come on, Rick.
Rick got excited.
That was premature Rickulation there.
I need you to hang on.
Let me get the setup here.
So this is the Korean call of the Tyrese Halliburton shot last night.
All right, go for it, Rick.
Oh, no, no, no, no.
All right, Rick, hey on, Rick, stop.
Stop, Rick, stop.
Rick, stop.
Rick, stop.
I got it.
Rick, are you not used to work in Instagram?
I think that's part of the problem.
Is that right?
I've never used Instagram.
Okay, so that's what I said.
All right, so Rick, let's rewind to the beginning of that clip.
You played the end of it.
Let's rewind to the beginning.
Let's see if we can play it from the beginning.
Okay, Rick?
I'll try here.
There's no scale on here for a,
to send it back to the beginning.
So hopefully...
I don't know what that means,
but Rick, I feel like you can do it.
Let's go, Rick.
Here we go.
Here we go.
Hollywood.
Oh, I love that.
It's the last wow that gets to the game.
I think it's the last...
You know, we need, Shannon,
that kind of excitement in our calls.
We need a wow at the end of it.
You hear that Tom Hart?
Are you listening?
That's how a real broadcaster does it.
That's how you do it right there, Tom Hart.
That's how you get me into a game.
Who's up next?
God, Dwayne up next.
Dwayne, go ahead, Dwight.
We need screaming leech to be like that at the football games and basketball games.
Well, we need some of them to scream about.
Yeah, that's true.
All he's been screaming about is we cut the deficit to 30.
So I think maybe this year will be better.
So talking about this money, like what about teams like,
I live up here close to Cincinnati, teams like Xavier that don't have a
football program. How are they going to get the same amount of money?
If Xavier could raise the money, which I don't think they could raise this much, but if Xavier
could raise the money, in theory, they could spend all $20 million on basketball.
Now, in practice, what probably happens with Xavier is that they use some of that money to make
their sports. The other ones not lose money because Xavier in schools like that lose a ton of money
on their other sports.
They probably try to make up their budget a little bit,
but in theory, if they wanted to, like St. John's
is going to be the one to do this.
Yeah.
The one I'm worried about St. John's.
St. John's is going to end up having that Micropoli guy,
give him $20 million and say,
put it all on basketball, all of it, win me a national championship.
But there is nothing, sir, to stop a St. John's or a Xavier
or one of those schools that doesn't have football from doing just that.
Okay, and I know you love jokes, and I've got a great one.
I bet I don't.
And plus you have this big crowd here.
It's going to make a joke bombs.
I'm going to have to see all these sad faces in the crowd.
Go ahead.
Yes.
Did you hear about the new sport called Quiet Tennis?
No.
It's played with no racket.
You got a few chuckles.
All right.
See, this is why I don't do jokes.
This is why I don't do jokes.
All right.
Thank you very much.
You got boot off stage.
I appreciate the call.
Actually, I don't appreciate it.
I don't like it one bit.
I was looking at the preseason top 25.
I don't know if you have looked at the top 25 for next year.
But you look at the top teams.
It's not what you're used to, right?
Preseason number one is Purdue.
I mean, Purdue.
I know you hate Purdue.
stink. That's not, doesn't work. Purdue is preseason number one. I know Houston's been good
recently, but Houston is number two. Louisville's in the top ten. BYU's in the top ten. St. John's is
in the top ten. Like it is a completely different set of teams. Kentucky's there and Duke is there,
but then there's like Michigan. Like it is not the traditional powers. And teams like North
Carolina are almost unranked. Kansas is like 20.
which you're not used to.
It is like a different set of teams kind of rising to the top in this NIL era.
That's interesting too because I think a lot of people thought that when NIL became a thing
that all the smaller schools would get left behind, but then that doesn't reflect that in the top 25.
I think what you see when you look at the top 25 is with a couple of exceptions, Michigan being one of them,
you're seeing these programs kind of doing this.
Well, why don't we just be good at basketball, right?
Purdue's going, let's just be good at basketball.
Like, why should we be worried about everything else?
That's what Houston's doing.
BYU is spending a lot of money on both sports,
but they're putting a ton of money into basketball.
I do think that's insane.
John, you're starting to see these programs who have been dormant for a while,
realize NIL is the way for us to catch up.
I think this is the way it's going to be for many years to come, right?
I mean, this is the world we're going to live in now,
where some of these schools that have a big booster behind them, like Ripoli,
can fund a basketball program and vault them up in the ratings.
I also think Kentucky fans, we should be thankful for Joe and Kelly Craft.
I mean, for us being good.
Go look at what's happened to Kansas.
Kansas is what Kentucky would be if we didn't have them.
Because Kansas could not get players this year.
They've got the number one dude in the country out of high school coming.
But they lost, Ryan, almost every dude they went for in the portal.
Like every guy, because they did not have the money.
They did not have the money.
And Bill Self all of a sudden has gone from a guy top five every year to they could not get players this year.
Well, they used to be they always had the money bag.
You know, that's all they used to get some of these guys.
But when everybody else was playing zero, your million dollars works.
When everybody else is offering $3 million and you don't have it, I think you see what happens at Kansas.
Gotcha.
And they just, it was reported that North Carolina, Shannon, this morning it was reported,
they've spent $14 million on their basketball roster, and they're not even preseason top 20.
How does that even happen for a North Carolina, a blue blood school like that, did not be in the top 45?
They've got to get rid of Hubert Davis.
I mean, if you have that money and you can't even get a roster, then that's on you.
Who's next?
Mark is up next.
Mark, go ahead, Mark.
Good morning, gentlemen.
I missed the end of the last first hour because once I got put on, it was silence.
But I don't know how you all ended up talking about the football and all that.
But if you think back over, I mean, I've been a season ticket holder since the couch was here,
we're not expecting to win national championships.
We're just expecting to compete.
But the issue is they're going to make football so expensive that you can't afford to do it
just as a general person.
and what we want is we want to be able to go tailgate,
tailgate with our friends all day,
have fun,
and see a decent game.
I don't care if UK wins six games,
three games,
10 games,
or national championship.
In football,
it's more about tailgating and the party
and the experience I have with my friends.
Well,
I mean,
we've talked,
we've,
I agree with you.
That is 75% of the reason we go.
I totally agree with that.
I appreciate the call.
And we've talked about,
You know, the last 20 years, 25 years, Mitch Barthart has been the AD.
I think he's done a lot of good stuff.
Matter of fact, I think he does good stuff he doesn't even get credit for.
With that said, maybe his biggest mistake has been the way they completely changed slash ruin the football tailgating experience.
You know, when people have more fun coming to my bar than being outside the stadium, it says a lot about what it's like outside the stadium.
and they really did screw that up, Ryan.
They did.
Yeah, a lot of those fans that they took away their spots,
they have still not come back.
They're still hurt from when that happened.
We have the worst, the worst tailgating scene in the SEC outside of Vandy.
Vandy's the only one worse.
I mean, we don't do a good job with it.
The scene in the KS Bar parking lot is better than the scene outside the stadium,
and it shouldn't be like that.
I mean, I'm happy.
It's like that, but it shouldn't be like that,
And we did that to ourselves.
Yeah, caller's right.
I mean, football is an all-day event for a lot of fans.
You know, it is about hanging out with friends and tailgating and then go into the game.
You know, basketball, you kind of go to the game and that's it.
You know, maybe you go, you know, to KS Bar before, but football's different.
Yeah, basketball doesn't have that pre-game thing that you do with football.
The eyes of the horse racing world are on New York this weekend for the Belmont.

The biggest decisions.
If you're going to look at stats and numbers, he has no shot at making this World Cup team.
And the truth about the U.S. national team.
It wouldn't be a huge surprise if our team ends up in the quarterfinals or potentially a great run into the semifinals.

Just a little bit bigger hips, wider.
This is a podcast.
We're recording it as we tailgate our youth soccer game.

Do you want a white collar or something here? Just take it. What are you

Come on.
Can you believe? I would buy it.

Oh.

Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio here at the Virginia.
Great crowd. Historic Theater in downtown Somerset constructed by T.E. Jasper, who named it after his daughter, Virginia.
So that's why they have a name.
That was, if you were wondering that, it's become one of the best small venues in Kentucky.
Great.
I love the two decks.
And thanks to all the folks who are even sitting there on the top deck, free food from Penn Station out there.
They have beer and soda to sell.
And Shannon will be playing here tonight at 8 o'clock.
Looking forward to it.
Walking on the same stage that John Schneider will walk on here in just...
You got it all backwards.
John Schneider's going to be walking on the same stage, Shannon's the dude before me.
go there we go and then you're going to jump over the fountain tomorrow no I won't be doing that
uh one person writes on the text machine 7772 775254 any concern about money being shared equally
between men's and women's sports um short answer to that is I don't think so uh let's go back
when NIL started the Biden administration the DOJ put out an opinion that they thought it
needed to be shared, I think they said, relative to the popularity. The Trump administration
did away with that. Still, someone could sue, but I don't think they would force it to be equal.
We've talked about Title IX. It's a very specific law. I actually don't think it will matter
if the money is equal or not. They still have to provide the same number of scholarships,
but they do not have to provide the same amount of revenue. That's generally how it's been
been interpreted. What I do think is in trouble at UK, but at a lot of schools, are sports that have
big rosters that don't bring in money. So if you sit there and think, what are sports with big
rosters that don't have money? I think in this new revenue sharing era, they're in trouble.
So swimming is an example of something with a big roster that doesn't bring in money. That's the kind of
sport that I don't think like golf's in trouble or tennis, but I think these sports, that's where I
would worry. I think the only sports I think are safe. Football, men's and women's basketball,
baseball, softball. They're safe. I think everybody else, it depends. Men's and women's soccer,
probably safe because of the scholarship stuff, but then there's some other sports where I think
it starts to get a little tricky. And then you got a guy like Craig Skitt.
Intervie for UK volleyball.
Volleyball is safe, too.
I forget volleyball.
Volleyball is safe too.
He's probably thinking, man, I just won a national championship.
Can I get a little piece of that pie?
That's a really good.
I didn't even think about that.
When you're talking about baseball, women's basketball,
do you save some for volleyball?
I mean, we've won a title in volleyball.
Is it women's gymnastics really good at Kentucky, too?
Yeah, but I don't think it's full scholarship.
So I don't think it will affect them.
The Skinner has definitely a good argument.
Yeah.
National title and can't get an I-o-o money?
Completely.
completely slipped my mind there. Tell me about the baseball suite 16s going on. I saw the Wolf
County Wolves who were in their first state tournament in any sport in like 30 years. They won
last night beating your Harrison County, Mac Whitaker's. Beat Mac Whitaker in Harrison County. It was a big
win for Wolf County, four to three. They were down three nothing and scored four runs in the last
inning. They did. Yeah, they walked it off in the last inning. We didn't do too well in our picks
yesterday. Okay, go for it. Boyd County beat Boyle County. I picked that. I picked Boyd, yeah. Taylor County
beat Sayer. I picked that. Trinity beat Meade County. I picked that. And Wolf County beat Harrison County.
That's the only one I got wrong. So what do you mean we didn't do well? We went three and one.
I thought we missed the Boyle County over Boyd County. You did, but I said you don't go against the mountains.
And I picked Sayre. Yeah. Well, I did. So you missed all of them. I missed all of them. Do you want to know the softball
scores? Sure. Yeah, did Bullitt East play. Bullitt East did play. They got their ass whoop.
Three to two by Scott County. I wouldn't say three to two is a broad cat. I think you got to
be kept three to two is not that bad. Boyle County had a rough day. They lost also in
softball to Rowan County three to two. Henderson County beat North Laurel four to one and
Davis County beat South Warren defending champs three to one. So defending champs out.
A defending champs out. So Davis County plays Anderson County now over there. Congratulations to all
those. The tournament goes on all weekend. Is that the UK all weekend? Yes. Yeah.
John Cropst Stadium with a softball game is. Last night I thought I had like an hour. I was like,
maybe I'll go by and watch the high school baseball, and I went out to the legend stadium, and it
wasn't there. What used to be there. I know. So I went out there, and there was no one there,
and so I didn't get to go. Who's up next? Jordan is up next. Jordan. Go ahead, Jordan.
Hey, you guys may have covered this already, but I got a question and observation.
On the NIL stuff, the $22 million, in my mind it seems pretty easy that, you know,
you pay, say you want to pay the football and basketball teams, split, you know,
split that money down the middle for each of those teams, then can't they just take the NIL money
that those teams are already getting and kind of get it that over-to-the-thew?
They're not going to get it.
Well, they're not going to get as much.
So starting next year, the NIL money, Bob, do not answer the phone during the show.
Bob's doing his own show.
Bob, you do not answer the phone during the show.
Okay, back to what I was saying.
See, I knew he couldn't get through it.
I knew.
I'm going to start calling him.
I knew he couldn't do it.
I like how he acts frustrated like, well, that person called me.
You didn't have to answer.
All right.
What was I saying?
Oh, the money has to be real now.
Like you have to, the NIL money, sir, has to be for actual endorsements.
So unless we can find businesses that want to do $9 million worth of football endorsements, that's a problem.
You can't just have Shannon Grigsby write a check for a million dollars for a player.
The person has to do, quote unquote, a million dollars worth of benefit for Shannon.
And how they decide what that is is going to be, we'll still have to determine.
Gotcha
And then my other thing
I just
Just given
Given recent events
I still think that
Kenny leaving Cal is worse
than Elon leaving Trump
and all hang up
Yeah
Well
They're gonna make
They'll make up today
And then they'll break up again
Kenny
Kenny leaving cow was the start
Of that decline
I think wouldn't you agree
Kenny and Dwayne Peevee both
And Robic
They lost all three of them
within a year
and you lose all three of them within a year,
I don't think Cal ever recovered from that.
Now, I ask you this, did Elon apologize last night or something?
I don't think so.
I think he just said he was going to cool off for a little bit.
Cool off for a little bit.
Which is probably code for he's going to stop taking drugs for a few minutes
and just calm down a little bit and then hopefully that would be better.
I can't wait to see how this plays out, though.
I think you're right.
I think eventually they'll kind of come around.
And then they'll go, they're going to be, it's like the real housewife.
Like a cycle.
back together and then you get back together and you break up. 859-280-2287.
I like your Reds jersey.
You going tonight?
No.
I'm going.
They're going to lose again.
772-774-5-254.
We'll take a break.
Be right back.
This is Kentucky Sports Radio.
Welcome back.
It is Kentucky Sports Radio here at the Virginia Theater in Somerset.
Great Pulaski County crowd.
While we're here, I think we would be remiss if we didn't mention, obviously,
the tornado that came through this area just a few weeks ago.
Prayers to everyone involved.
I mean, obviously a lot of the deaths were in London,
but there was damage in this county as well.
It was pretty severe damage in parts of it.
So prayers to all of those folks.
I've heard from people in the Laurel County area that the efforts from both private citizens
and the government has gone very well so far.
I hope that continues because that is going to be.
be very needed for all of those people.
But I think it would be wrong to be here and not mention what this area and community has gone
through.
So prayers for all those folks, right.
Yeah, the benefit concert they had just here on this stage last Saturday,
he raised $10,000 for the tornado relief victims here in Somerset and London.
And all the UK baseball team on their way back from the SEC tournament.
They stopped here in Plaskie County to help some of the cleanup effort.
I was, you know, I was here in London twice, the day after and then when we did the show.
and it never ceases to as sad as it was.
And it was the scene in London, especially the day after,
might be the saddest scene I've ever seen.
That and when we were in the floods in eastern Kentucky,
it is still amazingly heartwarming to see the way people just come together
and just immediately go and help each other.
And that is one of the best things about Kentucky
and this area showcased that.
over the last few weeks.
859-280-2287.
You said South Warren won the softball that is not true.
Not true. Henderson County is the defending softball champion.
You say things with such confidence that are blatantly false.
Well, my friend's a Davis County person, and Davis County beat South Warren,
and I think he probably told me now we play the defending champs, Henderson County.
I heard we just beat the defending champs South Warren.
So I messed that up a little bit.
You're like everybody else.
You hear what you want to hear.
Yeah, you hear what you want to hear.
One person writes, Matt, this is really a question for Ryan.
Uh-oh.
After the facts of the last segment, I can understand why.
In UK sports, what's the closest similarity to Musk and Trump you've seen in UK sports
where two people that work together have a breakup and end up hating each other?
Actually, I have an answer, but do you have one?
I mean, I think there's one kind of obvious answer, but do you have one?
other than what we just saw with Cal and Stoops a couple years ago.
I was going to say Cal enrobic.
Calenrobic.
I mean, I think Cal enrobic, I mean, hate is a strong word.
I mean, that's probably, but I do think Cal enrobic, that relationship ended with animosity,
a relationship that was very close for a long, long time.
Can you think of any others from the years past before that where it ended sort of not in a good way?
Not off the top of my head, but that was so sad about the Robic Cal thing.
They were so close for so long, shared that same office for years and years and years,
and when it broke up, it got nasty.
Yeah, I mean, Cal Robic breaking up would have been the equivalent, Shannon,
of like if in five years Drew and I didn't speak to each other.
I mean, like they worked together close from multiple stops going,
moving across the country together, and then it broke up.
up. I mean, that's, cow Robic is pretty bad, unfortunately, for both of them, because I like both.
Well, Cal and I didn't have the greatest ending, but I liked him for a long time, and I still like
Robic. That, that was a shame. And when you work so closely with somebody like that for so many hours
and every single day and you're on the road, you're doing recruiting visits, you've got to like
that person. Oh, of course. Personally, you know, to some level you have to. Exactly. And then
to break up and not talk at all is it's going to be tough. Cal Stoops was a little different,
because I don't know if Cal and Stoops ever liked each other.
They just kind of like hit it for a long time.
They tolerated.
They tolerated each other.
And then it kind of, I mean, I know Cal, well, I know what both of their positions were.
Cal's position was, this is a basketball school.
How dare you all give football any money?
That was kind of how they felt it.
Stoops's position was, we made more money than you do for the school.
Why don't you back off a little bit?
The reason you can get paid $10 million is because of the amount of people that come to these games.
And they both had a point, to be honest with you.
But I think it led to them button hits.
I think it was behind the scenes for many years.
But when Cal made that comment, we're a football school.
I think that's what it came out in the public.
And that kind of-
But it existed before that.
It existed before that.
I think Cal had a good relationship with Joker,
but it was easier to do that, Shannon, because they knew, like, Joker was not having success.
So it's easily to be magnanimous when everybody knows you're having more success.
Harder when it's like, when you're losing in the first round of the tournament and he's going to the Citrus Bowl, then it becomes a little bit more difficult.
Yeah.
You know, Stoops has had great success.
A couple of 10-win seasons here.
And, you know, he would have to say something.
Once Cal said that publicly, he couldn't just sit back and take it.
I remember when I read that and I was like, oh.
Yeah, you knew that was going to be the start of something.
Who's up next?
Uncle Vito is up next.
Uncle Vito, how are you?
By the way, did they catch the zebra?
yet have they caught the zebra?
You know, there's a world that zebra folks could end up up here.
Don't forget, like you all.
He's on his way.
Y'all are in the vicinity.
I mean, it would have to jump some things to get here, but you could get it.
All right.
Go ahead, Zed.
Or Zito.
Uncle.
Hey, Matt, can you hear me?
Yeah.
Matt, can you hear me?
I got a whisper just a little bit because my son's asleep in the back seat.
Okay.
I need some advice from you all, especially from Ryan.
I'm a first time dad.
I'm a first time dad.
What is your best advice for a first time dad?
You're the only one that can answer this, to be fair.
You can't be their friend is you got to be dad.
That's not true.
You do that.
Once they get older, once they get to a point, you can be their friend,
but you can't be their friend while they're growing up.
If you're a friend, you're not doing your job.
So you just yelled at your kids growing up?
I was kind of rough on them for many years until they got to the age where we can be friends.
My dad, I think, taught me the same way.
You know, you've got to have tough love, but you get to that point where then you can kind of share the love.
I've never seen you be tough.
When were you tough?
Well, you weren't around, you know, in the house when they didn't clean up their clothes off the floor for the fifth straight day or something like that.
And what did you do?
I yelled at him.
Did it work?
Well, obviously not.
He falls asleep.
He falls asleep every time when I turn on KSR, so it's great.
Well, that's good.
I have a very serious.
soothing voice for children. People have always...
Lolling kids.
People have always said that.
I appreciate the call.
I had a person write me and say that they were on vacation with their wife in Jamaica,
and their wife, right before they go to bed, he was listening to the podcast, and the wife said,
if you don't give me one week away from that man's voice, I'm going to be very angry at you.
I can understand that.
You think maybe parents are putting it on your voice on the baby monitor, so the kid can hear it.
I think I have some good traits.
I don't know that I have the most soothing voice in the world.
But, yes.
I think the zebra is still on the loose.
This is from three hours ago.
Where is it?
It just says Rutherford County.
I don't, I guess that's a Nashville TV station.
Okay, yeah, that's from the helicopter.
So if the TV stations can find the zebra, why can't the animal authorities get it?
I guess they can find it.
They just can't corral it and bring it back to where it belongs.
Okay.
I don't think it belongs at that guy's house that had it.
Who's next?
Matt is up next.
Matt, go ahead, Matt.
Hey, guys.
What's up?
I'm sitting out here in my garden, watching Renan and Hayes,
pick the last of the peas why I meditate and the day shine.
Oh, yeah, you're our guy that's meditating.
That's right.
We've had a lot of praise about your call
and, like, people saying it's, you know,
made them want to find more peace with themselves.
Well, you know, I've got.
an answer to this whole Elon and Trump.
Oh, you do?
Okay.
I'm interested.
What would you, what would you suggest they do?
They need to get a big, beautiful garden and kick their shoes off.
Like a big beautiful bill.
Just making a garden.
That's right.
Okay.
Yeah, just make it a garden and sit out there and meditate and be thankful for everything
God's blessed them with.
I agree.
They're so blessed.
You know.
I have to tell you.
First of all, it's great advice.
I cannot see Donald Trump meditating.
I'm not saying he wouldn't.
I just can't really see it.
But I feel like it's good advice.
I feel like he should.
Like somebody needs to encourage him, you know.
I'll bring it up the next time I talk to him.
All right.
I do have a question.
Okay.
Do you see college basketball or college sports in general turning into like,
the NBA does, how they put advertisements on their jerseys?
Yes, that's going to happen.
Yeah.
I'm surprised it hasn't happened already.
Yeah, there's a couple things that I think are going to, again, I appreciate to call.
I talked about this with Ross.
There's two things that I think are going to happen at a lot of schools,
that they're waiting, Shannon, for one school to break the seal,
and then get all the criticism, and then everybody else will do it.
One of them is putting ads on the jersey.
whoever's the first one to do that, people are not going to like it.
But then once one of them does it.
And it becomes the norm.
Then they're all going to do it.
Now, I don't think they'll be gaudy.
I think it'll be like in the NBA.
Like if you watch the NBA finals, like right here on the shoulder,
there'll be a little patch.
I think that's what you're going to end up seeing.
The second thing is one of these schools is going to take,
they're going to turn their athletic department into an investment.
They're going to make it like stock.
and they're going to say
Kentucky sport
University of Kentucky sports stock
is worth X amount of money
and they will take money from an investment fund
to buy 20% of UK sports
or 15.
You remember I've been saying this for six months.
Louisville is going to do this
and Louisville's going to do it.
I wouldn't be surprised if Louisville's not the first one that does it.
Louisville is going to take a big chunk of money
from some private investment firm
and they are going to sell a piece of Louisville sports.
And to me, there's a lot of issues with that.
A public university selling a piece of public university to a private fund is weird to me.
But it's going to happen, Ryan.
It's probably going to happen with an ACC or Big 12 school first because they don't make as much money as the SEC and Big Ten.
And Louisville is going to do it.
It's just a matter of win.
Can you separate it and make it just athletics only or does it have to be?
No, it would be athletics only.
The academic part's not going to sell.
But they will sell, and maybe they just sell, you know, Shannon, U of L basketball or U of L football.
But they are going to sell a piece of, it's going to happen.
Yep, just kind of, you know, depend on that first school to stick their neck out there and be the first to do that.
One school has to break the seal.
And then once they do, they'll take all the criticism and then everybody else will do it.
That's going to happen.
Tell me about Stock and mortgage.
Stock and mortgage, you know, it's always a good time to buy.
Now's a great time to buy.
Rates are still kind of a little high, but you know what?
It's a good investment in your future.
When is it not a good time to buy?
It's not really.
It's always a good time to buy.
It feels like if it's always a good time to buy, then it's never a good time to buy.
Well, one of the best investments you can make is in real estate.
So why not invest in your future and go buy a house and have stock to mortgage do your financing?
There you can hand lead you to the finish line to get the closing table.
That's what's all about.
So give them a call.
They're all over the state.
They're growing NMLS 8259 equal housing lender.
I mean if everybody gets a standing ovation, Shannon.
Yeah.
Then nobody gets a standing ovation.
It doesn't mean anything.
It doesn't mean any.
Yeah.
So when you say it's always a good time to buy.
I think any time you get a standing ovation is a great day.
Okay.
So you tell you want to buy your house, it's a great day.
We'll take a break.
Be right back.
Final segment.
This is KSR.

And on my podcast, The Cliverts show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff.
Like being an internet famous referee.
We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker walks up to me, he goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue 42.
A rep.
My mama want you to wave at her.
Hey, Miss Parker.

I'm not worried about Policic.
I'm not worried about Balligan.
I'm not worried about McKinney.
only concern is what happens in the back.
The biggest decisions.
If you're going to look at stats and numbers, he has no shot at making this World Cup team.
And the truth about the U.S. national team.
It wouldn't be a huge surprise if our team ends up in the quarterfinals or potentially a great run into the semifinals.
The World Cup is almost here. Experience it all with us.

This is my best friend Janet.
And we have been joined at the hips since high school.
Absolutely.
Now a redacted amount of years later, we're still joined at the hip.
Just a little bit bigger hips, wider.
This is a podcast.
We're recording it as we tailgate our youth soccer games in the back of my Honda Odyssey.
With all the snacks and drinks.
Sidebar.
Why did you get hard seltzer instead of beer?
Well, they had a bogo.
Well, then you got it.
Do you want a white collar or something here?
What are y'all doing?
Microphones?
Are you making a rap album?
Oh, I would.
Come on.
I would buy it.
Cut through the defense like a hot knife through sponge cake.
That sounds delicious.
Oh, you're lucky.
I'm not a drug addict.
You're lucky I'm not an alcoholic.
You are.
I'm lucky I'm not a killer.
I love this team, and I'm really trying to be a figure in their lives that they can rely on.
Oh.
Oh.
Listen to soccer moms on the eye.

Welcome back. It is the final segment here of Kentucky Sports Radio in Somerset at the Virginia.
Hope your summer's coming fast, but cornbread hemp is here to help you enjoy it.
You can get kicked back with your friends, cornbread infused gummy, seltzers, take the edge off,
help you give you a good life like the guy in his garden.
Make the most of it. Cornbread infused seltzers. I do bet Elon already does those.
It's packed with delicious fruit flavor and five milligrams of good stuff.
No booze, no hangovers.
It's cornbread hemp, promo code KSR for 20% off your first order.
Cornbreadhempt.com promo code KSR.
This is the Good Life.
You two are staying in Somerset all day until the concert tonight.
What are you going to be doing?
What are the two bros going to get into in the city here?
Well, I have one suggestion yesterday on the pre-show for a place called the Salty Henn.
I don't know what that is, but it sounds interesting.
Oh, they're shaking their head.
No?
The Steel House.
I think it's where we're going for lunch.
Yeah, the Steel House.
This is a sweet old lady that called in.
You're shaking your head no at her.
Yeah.
First of all, I like the name Salty Hill.
I bet it's a good name.
But you guys have got, that's a long time to kill.
You have no house to go to?
I've got a green room back here.
I don't know about everybody else, but I got a green room that's got a couch.
You're staying here the whole time, too.
There's a couch in the green room, and Chan and I are going to share it and take a nap.
I don't want to know about you all in the couch.
No, you're not allowed.
Well, I mean, I hope you enjoy it.
Your concerts at 8 o'clock tonight.
We'll be playing a couple of sets, playing until about 10 o'clock.
So, yeah, there's still tickets available.
Do you think Indiana, we've got a Pacers there,
do you think they win another game in the series?
Like, can they win the series?
Still in that game won last night at OKC.
I didn't know if they could win it,
but after they won that game last night,
I know they can win the series now.
You know it?
Yes.
I mean, you do have, like, against the Knicks,
they stole a game and won the series.
Then there was a few years ago,
I think what was it,
Lakers where they stole game one with Alan Iverson,
and they didn't win another game, the rest of the series.
Which one do you think it's more likely to be?
The Thunder still win.
I think Thunder went in six,
but there's a lot of pressure on the Thunder now
because if you lose the second game,
now you've got two in Indiana,
and anything could happen when you go on the road.
That's right.
Did you enjoy it?
I mean, people were saying it was going to be boring
with these boring teams.
I thought it was actually pretty exciting.
I told Shannon it was like a nine-point leave
about four minutes ago,
and I am struggling to stay awake,
very, very sleep.
I made myself stay up and so glad I did for that comeback.
See Halliburton hit the shot at the end of the game.
It was awesome.
Yeah, so you got the Belmont.
You also have all the college baseball games.
Can Murray State get it done at Duke this weekend and try to become the first time Murray State's,
first time they've ever been to a super regional, trying to make the first time they've ever made the college world series.
You think they can do it?
I have no reason to doubt them.
I mean, Murray State coming out of the bracket they were in and now taking on Duke, I think they could do it.
What is it, two out of three?
Two out of three.
Murray State game starts Saturday.
So Saturday is their first game, and then they play Saturday, Sunday, and then potentially Monday.
I believe in them.
I think you have a chance?
Yeah, I think it's Saturday at noon.
It's an early start, so we should all get behind Murray State.
And to win, like Chanon said, at Ole Miss on their stadium, knock off the rebels,
why not?
Why can't they go to Duke and win this?
I'm pulling for Murray State.
I think that would be one of the cooler things to see the local school do it.
Four seeds rarely get this far, much less the college world series.
Murray State, you know, we got him on the show.
I hope they go get a victory in Durham this weekend.
Plus, who doesn't want to root against Duke?
Who's next?
Cynthia's next.
Cynthia, go ahead, Cynthia.
Hey, Matt, I heard you say that you were going to the Reds game tonight,
and I'm flying up to Cincinnati for the weekend to visit some friends,
and we're going to the Reds game tomorrow, which is a bobblehead giveaway.
Oh, who's a bobblehead?
Are you?
I think it might be.
Hunter Green or I actually I'd like to have that one yeah I can't go tomorrow because I'm going to
night I'm going to night but I'm going to see me CMA fast tomorrow so you'll have to get the
bobblehead for me if you will well that's one I'm going to ask you if you were sending someone
to get no but I need to I was going to sell it but I didn't know it was Hunter Green
bobblehead now I don't know you think I can get Billy to go he's on vacation so no
man okay well you'll have to
I'm enjoying it without me.
Well, my second question then would be, what is your best advice to get the bobblehead?
Or do you think it's a big deal to get there early?
I mean, it probably, you the red skink.
Yeah, I mean, if it's Hunter Green, there'll be a lot of people there.
So you're going to have to get there really early to get it.
It's a four o'clock game.
So what time would you get out?
Four o'clock game.
I mean, they opened the gates at like 1.30.
Better be there about 1.
I'd say by, if it's a.
four o'clock game and it's hunter green it'll be gone quick so i'd be careful i'd get there early
just watch batting practice i think it's him or travis hunter i'm not 100% sure but
Travis hunter from the colorado football team oh yeah i don't think it's him it's got to be
hunter it's got to be hunter yeah probably so i appreciate to call they had Travis hunter that would
be strange let's do one more who's next Andrew is next Andrew is next
Andrew, you got about a minute.
Go ahead.
Hey, Matt, I think UK football led by a Ty Bryant,
well, it's Carter Boyer.
Zach Calzada is going to go 11-1, play LSU in the SEC championship game.
You take basketball beats Arkansas in an epic NCAA game,
Tegah O.A, DJ Wagner, and.
Wow.
Listen, if you can get good odds on us playing LSU in the championship game
and beating Arkansas in the title game, I'll take it.
Ryan Lemon and Drew, your Pacers have the audacity beat my Knicks in the conference finals.
I think the Knicks should hire either Ray John Rondo.
All right, that's enough.
You're getting too much into weeds.
I appreciate it.
Hey, thank you to folks here in Somerset at the Virginia for hosting us.
A great, this is an awesome facility, great for the city of Somerset.
Happy 50th anniversary to Henry and Sharon Lee out there.
