Big day today.
A lot of stuff to talk about.
And we're going to pick another KSR comes to you show.
So just nobody.
call in yet, but Northern Kentucky be on the lookout. Oh, Northern Kentucky. Northern Kentucky. We
know, you know, we don't do a lot of shows at Northern Kentucky. We do them at the sports
bar with the wings I like, which I've eaten at 40 times and I can't remember the name of it ever.
What is it? How do we draw on a blank? Barley corn. Oh, thank you. Always, always, always draw
a blank on the name of that. Barley corns. Anyway, we're going to go up there this week. So just
hang tight. I'll tell you how to do it. Um, but Northern Kentucky.
be on the lookout because the Reds play Thursday at 1240.
Oh.
So I want to do it up there so I can get to the game because it's a holiday game,
even though we're doing a show.
So Drew Franklin is back.
Yay.
After a week and a half.
First of all, let's say, happy 40th birthday.
Thank you very much.
Thank you very much.
I didn't realize until I realized it was your birthday and I was like he really is 40.
I never thought, I didn't think you'd get to 40, to be honest with you.
I had questions myself sometimes. I thought I didn't know if it would happen. So,
congratulations. Happy I beat the odds. Ready for this new decade. Had a lot of fun while I was away.
What'd you do? I went to Mexico with a bunch of my best friends who also turned 40 around me.
Went to Cancun. Had a great time.
You didn't post any pictures of that. Does that mean there were shenanigans? No, it's one of those. I'll do a later gram where I just never got around to it.
I'm very good at staying off my phone, which is.
Which is a weird time to do it, considering what happened.
And then you went to New York, right?
Yeah.
My wife broke her foot in Mexico, so we almost canceled New York at the last minute, because
it is a big walking city, but she scooted her way up there, and we had a fun week.
Got her little leg scooter, had a good time.
You know, Shannon, that means Abby was messed up in Mexico living on refried fried dreams, to quote Tim McGraw.
But per tradition, impeccable timing with my vacations.
I'm now three for three on leaving at the worst possible time imaginable.
You were on vacation when Stoops considered going to A&M.
Yep.
When Cala Perry left for Arkansas.
I only took off that Monday that week.
And now this, you have been, like when you leave town, falls apart.
And I feel, you know, leaving.
I even consider that when I'm going.
I mean, this was a little more about my birthday.
But on the timing, I'm like mid-June, great time to go.
Nothing going on.
The shows in good hands.
What could possibly go wrong?
And what day did it happen?
Monday?
Tuesday?
I don't know it was.
It was Sunday.
I don't know.
regardless, I hadn't been on my phone and I don't know when.
And Abby was like, you should check Twitter.
I'm like, no, I'm good.
She's like, no, you should probably check Twitter.
I'm like, no, I really don't want to look at Twitter.
She's like, here's your phone.
Look at Twitter.
And that's when I'd realize I was a few hours behind, but saw the big Vince news.
Generally speaking, I, you know, I always took my vacations the first couple weeks of June because generally speaking, nothing happens.
You could come back, still get the draft.
You know, the portals were all closed.
like there was really nothing going on, but this has been different.
And luckily, we were here.
So let's just start with this.
Shannon, pull up, Vince gave a goodbye message to the fans that I do want to play and see
if it has any impact on anybody.
But let's just start with you.
I mean, I've probably of this group, all three of us know Vince well.
We all three went to the wedding.
We all three are friends.
You know, I'm not going to rank who knows him the best, but you are, would be close to me
if you're not right there with me.
What did you think when you heard the news?
Well, first of all, you mentioned being close.
I drunk dialed Vince from Mexico the night before this happened.
He did not answer, but we were playing a phone roulette game.
You know the trend?
Tell people good night.
We all decide around the dinner table.
We're going to call people to him good night.
You were going to tell Vince good night.
Well, I called Mario.
I went to, we all had to scroll.
I went to the last name M's.
So I called Mario Maitland called Marilyn Manson and Vince Mero to tell them all
good night.
Little did I know a few hours later Vince would be leaving, but I did call Vince.
You really wanted to tell him good night. Like it was over. I had no idea. Any of this was going on.
Just simply wanted to say, good night, Vince. I've probably seen that trend. But I did have that odd
timing going on there. But yeah, I know. I like you guys, it's a little different this coach
leaving than any others. But were you surprised? Oh, shocked. Absolutely shocked. I thought this last
time around when we had the Pizza Ranch episode, I've kind of thought that might be the one. But
when he didn't do it then, even though his comments were weird,
I just thought the Vince Louisville thing,
it's just a gimmick that comes up every few months.
And to see it actually happen,
especially talking about the timing mid-June,
I couldn't believe it.
I think it's a horrible, horrible decision on his part.
I think it's a horrible decision, too.
I don't think he's considering legacy
and how much people are really not liking that.
So, I mean, I won't go into details,
but I talked to him for like a hour on Friday.
And, you know,
I had to look at him say, I love you, man, but I hope you lose every game.
You know, I hope you lose every single game.
And he was like, oh, man, you know, and I was like, I'm, I'm just being honest with you.
I hope you lose every game.
Like I, and I don't know, I kind of said to him, I don't know why you would be surprised that I would say that.
Like, you're going to Louisville.
I told you.
Like, I told you this was going to be everybody's reaction.
And, you know, he explained to me some of his reasons.
and I get it.
I get it, but I don't get it because it's Louisville.
And, you know, I mean, I said to him,
I talked to him just a little bit about the difference in the two places.
You know, because I live in both places now,
and they're very different.
And one of the things, again, I don't want to go in the conversation,
but one of the things I said to him was,
you know how you could come into KS Bar and get a standing ovation.
And you know how you could go into Jeff Rubies and everybody looks at you.
I was like in Louisville, they're not even going to know who you are.
Like they won't.
Like they don't.
Half the city doesn't even care about sports.
And then of the half that care about sports, half of them are Kentucky fans and half
them are Louisville fans.
Right.
So I said, but you got to realize the horse industry is huge.
You got UPS.
I mean, it is a city.
And this is a part of the city, but it's not the whole city like it is Lexington.
We all, even people in Lexington.
people in Lexington who don't care about sports, they're almost forced to care about sports.
But in Louisville, that's not true. And I was just like, it's just going to be different.
And I think, Ryan, I don't know that he thought through that the way that we know maybe should have.
And that's what's kind of surprising. Surely he had to understand a little bit that we were all going to...
I don't think he did. That's crazy. I mean, he lived this rivalry for 12 years.
Now, he gave this morning, Shannon, you're going to play. He gave. He gave it.
a, this was weird to me.
I have to tell you, because I like look at the behind the scenes things.
Athlete advantage is the entity that does a lot, if not all, the NIL for UK football, right?
Vince is now a coach at Louisville, an athlete advantage put out a Vince Merrill video with music, Shannon.
I don't understand why that happened.
I like the athlete advantage people, but you are NIL people.
for Kentucky. Why are you putting out
a video? But nevertheless,
it's like 4K too. It's
well done. They put some editing in it.
Hey, athlete advantage. You are
for Kentucky. What are you doing?
Nevertheless, they did. Here was the statement.
Let's see if it has any effect
on you all. I want to talk to
you guys, the Big Blue Nation. I really love
you guys and I really appreciate
because you guys really help me
built my career with your support.
When I first came here,
I remember a buddy told me,
why are you going there?
You guys going to be fired in two years.
I was the lowest paid coach.
I heard all the jokes.
I wanted to build and bring players in
so we can win
and we can have some pride and dignity.
It is hard.
I'm not going to even sugarcoat it.
It's hard because of my loyalty
to really you guys, the fans.
But this is hard.
This is a job opportunity.
I feel I can't pass up.
I've passed up several other ones that people,
you guys as the fans know.
But just like a lot of you guys, you got families,
a lot of you guys had opportunities with different jobs,
and you move and take it.
You're doing what's the best for your family.
I'm doing what's best for my career.
I really enjoyed being here 13 years with you guys
because you guys are a really good fan base.
to the Big Blue Nation, one of the best.
I'm pretty sure y'all going to boo me when I come back, though.
But I really do love you guys.
All right.
So, Shannon, I'll let you go first.
The dramatic piano music.
Like, is that supposed to make me feel sympathetic towards Vince Merrill?
Well, did it?
No.
Absolutely not.
He said he was loyal.
He was for a long time.
He was for a long time.
He was flushed down the toilet vents when you went directly to our biggest rival.
So it doesn't have any effect.
I mean, I still believe and still feel the same way that I felt last week when we were talking about this.
I guess it's nice that he had a final goodbye to Big Blue Nation, but it doesn't change anything for me.
Are you surprised, Ryan, that athlete advantage puts that out?
I didn't know that until you said that, and I can't believe they're the entity that put that video out.
It's like a swan song for Vince.
I'm like, like Shannon said that sappy piano music is almost like he died or something.
I think there was a violin in there, too.
I think it was a live?
Was that a live group?
You got your mom for it.
You know, he, we said this about Cala Perry.
He chose to leave us.
Vince Merrill chose to leave us.
But Club Blue did not put out a coach Cal.
No, they didn't.
But like leave video.
No, it's very odd.
If I were Vince's PR coach, I'd say you've done enough interviews.
I feel like I was.
I think he should have put a statement like that out last week.
probably on his own, probably without the piano music.
Just look at, just looking at, just looking at, just in writing would have been fine.
Yeah, just look into the camera and say, hey, guys, I love you.
With that being said, with that being said, you know, I'm taking my talents to Louisville.
That's right.
Like, he should have done something like that.
It's a week later, okay, whatever.
I mean, he probably wanted to say something.
I'm like you, Drew.
He's going to regret it.
He's going to regret it.
He just is.
He's going to regret it.
And I, you know, I get it.
I'm sure he won't regret it if they're winning games next year and all that, but he's going to regret it.
He is.
I mean, that's, but I hope he ends up happy.
I don't, I don't, I do think these coaches, they all, this goes back to Rick Patino.
They all don't realize that they are cogs in the machine.
They are not the machine.
Rick Petino and John Calipari and Vince Merrow.
And I don't care who's next.
You're always secondary to the machine.
And so is Matt Jones.
So is Tom Leach.
So is Kay Wood Letford.
We're all like we all do this.
And then when it's over, like everybody will move to the next one.
And yet they sometimes think that like,
We're all going to sit around and cry.
And it's people, you know, it's a summer.
We're going to talk about this because there's not a whole lot else to talk about.
But then everybody's going to move on.
And yes, they're going to boo you.
That's how it's going to be.
Rick got booed.
Cal got booed.
They were bigger than Vince.
He's going to get booed too.
Yeah, and he'll never be the legend he could have been here if he had just,
even if he went to a different school off the UK schedule.
He would have always had a place in Lexington.
But now at Louisville, if it doesn't work there, they'll chew you up and spit you out.
we saw it happen to Kenny Payne.
Now he's a joke in Louisville.
So you can end up where both places don't like you if you don't do well there.
Yeah, that would be highly.
Well, yeah, what if they don't do well?
Yeah, if in three years he's gone, I mean, he's going to be a joke at Louisville and a trader in Kentucky.
And then you'd end up with neither places at home.
I do like also how these guys, Rick did the same thing are like, I love the state so much.
Come on.
Look like the ponies in the state.
No, you don't.
I mean, like, well, it, it, it, it, it, that,
The video is a little much for me.
Not Vince saying something.
I think he needed to.
I'm good with him doing that.
But the music, and this is the third time I've said,
I'll drop it after this.
I know what Athlete Advantage is doing.
Your job is to get us players.
I don't understand how, like,
making the Louisville recruiting coach sympathetic
is somehow a positive and getting players.
I have no idea what Athlete Advantage is doing.
They should have done it.
Get out of here, video.
The day he left,
like the U.K. side of the,
this should have been. All right, Louisville, you all make the videos for Kentucky fans.
I can't believe they did that.
I have a shock when you said that because I didn't know they were behind it.
It's like we said with Cal.
Like we said with Cal, you know, we were here long before you got here.
We're going to be here long after you left.
Same thing with Vince.
We were here long before you got here.
We're going to be long after you left.
Do you think they're paid for the rights to that music?
Did that come out of our collective to play that sound?
Sappy piano music.
No, they went to the UK band orchestra in there.
We need you to play Shannon a sappy song.
Yeah.
They said, should we add violin?
Yes, one violin.
Let's make it generic enough.
Let's go to where does that get flagged by anybody?
I heard they tried to get Everett McCorvey and he wouldn't do it.
Every McCorme he was going to go.
God bless him.
And then they didn't end up happening.

Like being an internet famous referee.
We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker-
You know these kids.
This linebacker walks up to me.
He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue of 42.
Hey, ref, my mama want you to wave at her.
What?
Hey, Ms. Parker.

The biggest decisions.
If you're going to look at stats and numbers, he has no shot at making this World Cup team.

Why is everyone obsessed with romance right now?
Like everyone.
Your co-worker, who, quote-unquote, doesn't read,
is reading romance.
Your mom, book talk, the entire internet.
I'm Sanjana Basker.
I'm Tyler McCall.
And this is Radio 831, a romance podcast. The books, the tropes, the adaptations, the drama, the discourse. And what all of it says about how we actually love, yearn, and obsess. We're going to Wuthering Heights, which, for the record, is not a romance novel. And yet it has haunted the romance genre for 200 years. We're getting into dark romance, age gaps, certain Russian hockey players. And sentient objects, in love.
which is a thing.
That's the kind of conversation we're having every episode.
Listen to the Radio 831 podcast on the Iheart radio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
I mean, this could have been what they played.
BBN, I love you.
You always give my heart.
You too can save a former assistant coach.
Just $10 a month will help.
I can't even.
I can't believe athlete.
What are they doing?
I know you're going to boo me.
I love you, B.
He should have done that video.
But I actually think it's one of those circumstances where it's almost better to not be overly produced.
Right?
Like the more real it is, you know, the better in my opinion.
I would have liked just doing one last good Vince tweet out to B-B-N.
Just let him write it up on Twitter however it comes out.
I brought you a bunch of grown men, G-R-O-A-N.
I will miss Vince's horrible spelling.
Worst speller, like worst speller we've ever had.
I love Vince, but who was a worst speller?
Lonnie Demmery had some bad ones.
That's true.
Like to Marcus said, they say how spelling me.
Very true.
Lonnie Dimery had some ones that.
Two of the best Twitter accounts.
No doubt.
No doubt.
I mean, he is, Vince is not a good speller.
And he loved grown man, G-R-O-A-N.
That was a big one for him.
He probably did that.
He probably did that one 10 times, didn't he?
Yeah, big on that one.
Spell-check would have helped Vince on Twitter.
That's why it would have been the best way to say goodbye.
That's okay.
I don't think Stol-Chick would have changed grown, though.
You know, I mean, it's actually right, but it's not the right context.
That's true.
It's a man who's very frustrated by things.
He's a grown man.
That's true.
That's what hurts him.
That's just a different one.
859-280-2287.
One person said, I watched the protest this weekend in New York and wondered if I would see Drew getting caught up in it since I know he was there.
I was there.
Did you not get caught up in it?
No, I was all caught up in it.
Bryant Park is where I was staying.
I mean, I looked out my window and it was in front of me.
So I sat in a copy.
There was some interesting look at people there.
We had a rainy day on our last day.
Abby's on a scooter.
So we couldn't do a whole lot.
And we just sat in a coffee shop in Bryant Park and watched the whole thing.
I'm not really, you know, I'm not a big protester.
I don't know that I've ever actually protested anything because, I mean, I'm a big on, like, do something that'll do something.
And, like, I just don't, I think people should do it if they want to do it.
It's just not what I usually do.
But I actually got up Saturday.
And I was like, you know what?
Maybe I'll walk down to one of those.
And I was all, like, ready.
And then it started raining.
And I was like, you know what, I'm not, I mean, Shannon, we can all have our opinions, but we don't need.
to get wet. That's right. Yeah.
While we're doing them.
We all have our limitations.
I mean, you know, the Reds are playing, but don't get him wet.
He's like a grimmons.
The Reds are playing. I don't need to get, yeah.
I mean, I don't feed me after midnight.
Don't get me wet.
That's right.
That's what made it fun to watch up there.
It was pouring and people had costumes and signed and they were just getting soaked.
Okay.
All right.
Let's go to Adam.
What's up, Matt?
Look, I love Vince.
I appreciate what he did for the program.
but you cannot claim loyalty after you can't just, you know,
you can't be a husband and say, well,
I hadn't cheated for 13 years how I did this time.
That is true.
You can't, you can't be loyal.
You can only be loyal to one.
That's true.
There is a little bit of that.
Honey, yeah, I cheated here at the end,
but the other 13 years were amazing, weren't they?
Yeah, that's totally foul.
You know, don't wish them well.
I hope Louisville finish last in the SEC.
Hope we beat it by 90.
All right.
I appreciate the call.
Even in the SEC.
Yeah, you can't do that.
There's a part of that that's kind of silly.
You talk to him.
Does he not even a little bit understand why fans are upset?
I mean, I think he was surprised.
Really?
I think he was surprised.
I think he was surprised.
As strange as this sounds, I think the moment that it hit him maybe was when the guy
Dunkin' Donuts flipped him off.
I know that's crazy.
but I think he like, I mean, think about it.
It is very hard when you are in a position of power, authority, whatever, to be, you get, you can be disconnected from reality.
Right.
If all you see are people praising you, you can forget that there's a different view out there.
Right.
When you put people in a bubble, I mean, the best example of this.
in sports was John Cal Perry. He was in a bubble.
No one would tell him that anyone felt negatively about him, except they would say Matt Jones and Drew Franklin did.
The only information that got filtered to Cal was, everybody loves you except Matt Jones and Drew Franklin and Kyle Tucker.
That's what he got told.
And so his view was, the world loves me, Matt Jones, Drew Franklin, and Kyle Tucker are screwing it up.
it was not reality, but that's all that was told to him.
Then we have coaches who are too connected to reality.
I almost think Mark Stoops is like that.
Mark Stoops hears almost seeks it out.
I think that's a mistake.
I think Vince was in a world where no one ever told him anything but they loved him.
And then all of a sudden it flips and he just didn't see it coming.
Right?
And you and me, Drew and Ryan, Mario and Shannon, we live in a world where we get on,
we spend a lot of our days on social media.
So we know that people hate us.
They don't hide it.
It falls in my lap, right?
But I think a lot of times these coaches don't.
And when you live like that, Drew, and then it hits you in reality, it's kind of like,
whoa, what's happening?
I mean, when you are any type of leadership.
you can create your own world.
You can go to places where you're only cheered.
And the people that boo, you can just go, no, that's not real.
And you've got to be careful about that.
And in this case, I think he was just surprised.
He knows now.
Yeah.
But I think he was surprised.
I don't know that I'd say he underestimates the rivalry,
but he probably didn't understand how much it would really upset people that he would leave for Louisville.
even him saying y'all are going to boo me he's being playful with it but there are people who do not want to see him in lexington again like ever and i don't think he saw that getting that bad it's a delicate situation because you don't want to open yourself up as a leader or as somebody in a public eye to constant negativity that's like bad for your mental health but then if you also like completely shut yourself off from reality you can have no sense of what the world is like and that balance i think is really hard for people especially
It seems like presidents, governors, coaches, they seem to have the hardest time with it, Ryan.
So what happens the next time he walks through KS Bar or Jeff Ruby here in town?
He shouldn't come.
He shouldn't. He's a little guy now.
He shouldn't come.
He shouldn't be at Jeff Ruby's in Lexington.
Agreed.
So we'll take a break.
Talk about some other stuff.
It's KSR.
T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney.
Call T.J. He'll make them pay.
Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Now, I'm good.
Here's Matt Jones.
I really like this song
I know it's like cheesy and stupid
Shannon but I've always liked it
Yeah but so is every other Tim McGraw song
And it's good
They're all cheesy and stupid
But he had a run that was pretty good
Right
What's your favorite Tim McGraw song?
Oh god
Got a barbecue stand in my white tuesday
A lot of people are yeah
That's what's that called?
Killing me in that miniskirt
Something like that
Something like that
Yeah
I like the one where he's like
Put me out
on the farm and some land and leave me alone.
That's a good one.
What's it called where he's like, put me on the farm with.
Oh, I know the one I like is don't take the girl.
That's the one.
That's the one here.
Take Tommy Thompson.
Take Tommy Thompson.
Take Tommy.
I always thought it was here that he picked two people with famous names.
He picked the Dallas Cowboys coach.
And Tommy Thompson at the time was like a governor of Wisconsin.
It was like he picked two names.
that were real names.
Not a best for a name
Bo Bob at the time
when he came out.
There you go,
Bo Bob.
Both of us did.
Both of us did.
Both of us did.
So yeah,
but what is the one where he's like,
he wants,
he has a yard?
He has a yard?
Yeah, give me a little more than that.
Someone is going to know this song.
You're talking about where he's talking about the rockers pointing to the
west.
Yeah.
Point on the rocker tears towards the west.
Where the green grass grows.
That's the one I like.
Yes.
Yes.
Great song.
What did you say about it in the yard?
It had a yard.
Watching his corn pop up and rose.
And he said, leave me alone.
I was close.

Thursday, I'm going to the Reds game,
so we're going to do our show in northern Kentucky.
Don't call this number.
I'm going to give you another number.
If you would like to host us and we are open to a number of different options,
the only thing is I can't like do an ad for your business.
We could sit at your business, but I can't do an ad for it.
You can't say we're coming.
but like, well, we could do it.
We could do it at your house.
We could do it at a community center.
We could do it.
Like anywhere you think we're open to.
Billy Drew is going to be our first, like, I guess cutoff.
Okay.
So he is sitting there.
Operator, not operators.
Operator is standing by.
Billy.
Here's the number.
It's the 981, the bull number.
If you would like to host us, but you need to be in northern Kentucky.
I have to be able to leave your house and get to the reds.
game by 1240. You can do it. Okay.
859, 859, 859, 422-3-299.
8-5-9-4-22-3-2-2-9 operator is standing by.
And he will pick the best couple and then let us know and we'll pick where we're going.
And we trust Billy with this. So we've got like 30 minutes for you to call.
8-5-9-4-22-3-299.
Our first one was great the other day.
KSR comes to your house with grandpals and grandmas-laws Drew was awesome.
It was.
She had the best food set up.
Yep.
Jud and Laura Knight.
And it was awesome.
I will say, I was pretty glad to get away, but I was jealous of the first house show.
I saw the pictures.
It looked like a great time.
859-4-2-3-2-99.
Tyler Hero.
look at Mario shaking his head.
So Tyler Hero went on a stream with his name, is his name Aidan Ross?
Yep.
Is that his name?
I guess what is, what's his talent?
Why does, why do people watch it?
Streaming.
But when you say streaming, what does he do in the stream?
Does he play video games?
He just talks.
I think he built his brand as a video game guy, but now you just go live and leave it running and make a bunch of money.
He seems awful.
I don't know much about him.
but Tyler Hero was on with him.
And in the course of the conversation,
it looked to me,
I don't want to disparage anybody,
but it looked to me like maybe some illegal substances.
I think he had at least one cornbread him,
himself.
Just looking at it,
I don't know.
But he said that he didn't believe
any history existed prior to 1950,
which is a really stupid statement,
but I don't even know what he means by it.
Does he mean like nothing happened before 1950?
Does he mean that like he thinking,
things happen, but he didn't believe they
happened. There were a lot of pretty
important things, Shannon, that happened right
before 1950. Yeah, no kidding.
Like World War II, the Holocaust.
I mean, there was a lot of stuff that
happened right before 1950.
He also said he didn't think
the moon landing happened, which I don't think he
knows happened after 1950.
You know,
I like Tyler Hero, but that was one of those, Drew, that I
watched it, and I go, someone get
him. Yes.
And like move him.
I don't, don't be on that anymore.
It's also like, isn't he in his mid to late 20s now?
Like he's not a kid anymore.
Not really showing off that UK education he got for a year.
He also said he didn't believe in Will Chamberlain kind of.
He's like, I've never seen a picture of him.
He said he didn't believe in Will Chamberlain.
Like, does he think that we just made Will Chamberlain up?
And at first, I think at one point, they're like, well, what year do you not believe in?
And I thought he was going to go like 1,800.
17, 1950. I mean, your parents probably aren't that much younger. There are videos of 1950.
You understand. I certainly had grandparents that probably remembered 1950. We still, I mean, television existed in
1950. I, I, I, listen, I'm not trying to break it down too much, but there is a point where,
again, you're sort of in this reality where like, you think you can say things that have no
consequences. I mean, some people, I was looking online. Some people were really offended. I'm not going to be
really offended but I'm like Tyler why say such really stupid stuff he says nothing happened after
1950 before 1950 he doesn't believe anything but the moon landing was after 1950 I just said that
will Chamberlain after 1950 so I think he needs to understand maybe there's a time you need to talk
and time you need to shut up before 1950 you're saying all this stuff happened after
1950 regardless it's a dumb statement I have no idea what he even means by that you just think the
world only started like post-1950?
I think he just thinks things happened, but he doesn't know that they happen.
He said, how would we know?
Anything before 1950, how would we know?
It was his main point.
Well, but you know, again, let's say, I've seen him talk about God and his belief in God and
Jesus.
I've seen him say that.
I think that was before 1950, Tyler.
I mean, someone could go.
Well, what do you think about?
I mean, Jesus was before 1950.
And he'd probably go, you know, like he'd go, which, like, you know, I believe in Jesus and God, but there's a level of faith.
I think you can say that most of the stuff we read, it's existed for a long time.
I'll believe it.
You don't want to, you want to take the view.
You don't.
How do you believe anything, Tyler?
Like, unless you're there.
Another one of my favorites, he said, how do we even know Columbus when he got to America?
Like how would we know that?
I don't know.
Record?
Well, we're probably giving him way too much analysis more than he needed to be on his Aidan Ross live stream.
But it wasn't the finest moment for, you know, when you're going, these are student athletes.
Well, I'm down for conspiracy theories, but that one, he was.
That was even too far for you.
I'll meet him in a couple of those.
Maybe some of those I'll meet him in the middle, but nothing before 1950s.
Jordan. Go ahead, Jordan.
Yeah, so I was just thinking, man, like, do you think that we'll see more guys, like
alumni guys, start maybe coming back around campus now that Pope's back?
I mean, guys like Anthony Davis and, I mean, he's not really spoken about.
Well, I mean, those guys, do you mean more than when?
Maybe just since, like, you know, like the recent, when Cal started, you know, John Wall,
John Wall's been very consistent about showing up the games.
I know he's not been playing, but he's always been able to.
to make time and just show up to the fan base.
I mean, I'd like to see guys like Anthony Davis or a few parts.
So you're saying, are you saying like in year two of Pope, you're hoping to see more
Cal guys come back?
Is that what you mean?
Well, just maybe, you know, yeah, I mean, just be a little bit more outspoken about, you know,
the college and maybe even come back and do some workouts with the guys or something, you know,
just having them back around, I think would be huge for, you know, I've been surprised that it's
been as positive as it has. I mean, I appreciate the call. I mean, Wall did an interview just
with me last week in which he said he was coming to work out with the UK guys. You know,
I mean, we've heard everybody from, you know, Devin Booker to Carl Towns to Anthony Davis,
make positive comments about Mark Pope. I mean, one of my biggest worries about Cal being gone
was, would we lose all those guys? And Ryan, I feel like it's been the opposite. I've been
pleasant. I don't know that I've seen anybody take the view of I'm not a Kentucky fan anymore.
No, I think last summer the TBT guys were a big thing that kind of changed that.
Pope took his entire team to watch the TBT guys play. The TBT guys were working out with
Pope's players. I think they did a lot to bond that bridge between those two eras.
Yeah. I mean, the bigger issues, they're still playing. So that's why Walls just now do it.
And Harrison's just not doing it. I mean, these guys weren't coming back for Cal either.
They're the ones we want to see the most
from the middle of their NBA careers
and they're just not going to come back as often.
Has there been anybody who said they wouldn't?
No.
Or like that they...
I've seen nothing but good.
I mean, Pope took the picture with Rob Dillingham.
Willie on our show while you were gone last summer during the TBT.
He was like, oh, I'm all blue.
Like, I want nothing to do with Arkansas.
I've seen nothing to positive.
The only person I can remember who when he went to Arkansas was Malik Munt,
but he's from Arkansas.
So he's probably there being at home and then was like,
all right, I'll go see coach.
I guess Tyler Ulys.
A little different.
I mean, I understand that.
I don't, I don't really hold that again.
I think those guys will be coming back as their careers died down, though.
I totally, I totally.
Listen, you only have one home, right?
And Cal ain't going to be in Arkansas forever,
so they're not going to make that their home.
I mean, this is their home, and they'll, you know,
life is long and you end up going back to your home.
859-2-80-2287.
A couple open lines, a little slow on the regular phones,
but if you want to host us,

We'll take a break,
and be right back.

What's up, guys?
This is Clivert Taylor the 4th.
And on my podcast, The Clivert Show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of
stuff.
Like being an internet famous referee.
We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me.
He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue with 42.
Hey, rep, my mama want you to wave at her.
What?
Hey, Ms. Parker.

The World Cup is coming.
Ramos sending on to Ernie Stewart.
I'm Tom Bow.
On our podcast, inside American soccer, you'll get the real storylines.
I'm not worried about Policic.
I'm not worried about Balagan.
I'm not worried about McKinney.
My only concern is what happens in the back.
The biggest decision.
If you're going to look at stats and numbers, he has no shot at making this World Cup team.
And the truth about the U.S. national team.
It wouldn't be a huge surprise if our team ends up in the quarterfinals or potentially a great run into the semifinals.
The World Cup is almost here. Experience it all with us.

Why is everyone obsessed with romance right now?
Like it.
Everyone.
Your coworker who, quote unquote, doesn't read, is reading romance.
We're going to Weathering Heights.
which, for the record, is not a romance novel.
And yet it has haunted the romance genre for 200 years.
We're getting into dark romance, age gaps, certain Russian hockey players.
And sentient objects. In love, which is a thing.
That's the kind of conversation we're having every episode.
Listen to the Radio 831 podcast on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Good song pick. I love Sam Cooke.
good call you know sam cook mario you do i mean you don't always know much past 2000 so i just wondered
if you good i'm glad you know sam cook that's good stuff 859 28022087 member if you want to host us
in northern kutucky 859 4222 3299 uh i want to play something for you really quick i love this
you know they had the uh the military parade in in washington right i was kind of like very
worried about that. And then it looked like it was just like, didn't seem like that big a deal,
ultimately. But the Fox News showed it, right? And they had a woman on after it was over,
Shannon. They were excited to have her on. She's a former defense intelligence person. Okay. So
she's like, used to work for the government. Okay. And I guess she's an expert on national security.
They bring her on and it's 930 at night. And here's all I would say, Drew, maybe somebody,
should have like vetted her before they had her on.
Maybe a conversation before. Maybe just a conversation because it's a little late at night.
You know, it's been a day to party to celebrate 200th anniversary of the Army, right?
So maybe just say, okay, let's see if she's all right.
I wouldn't have gone on the air at 9 p.m. last week when I was out and joined myself.
Exactly. So Shannon, here was the beginning of her interview a little bit, maybe a little
inebriated. Go ahead. Maybe a little bit. And the messaging that we saw here tonight from the
commander in chief on the Army's 250th birthday.
I am so excited, Emily and Lucas Tomlinson.
Everybody, like, this is incredible.
Finally, the United States is back.
I want to really thank all of our Army, Navy, Navy, and Air Force officers
who have been sacrificing their.
lives, literally, their families have been contributing to the mission.
Most of the time for the past quarter of a century, because of the mismanagement of the
administrative states, they've been fighting.
There was more.
They let her go for three or four minutes.
I got like another 40 seconds.
They cut her off here eventually.
Oh, go to the end where they cut her off.
I want to hear the cut off.
Let's just keep it rolling here.
With our new chief, Dahl and Jane Trump, they are prioritizing.
Donna.
Donna.
You know, Donna Trump.
Darnal.
Thank these officers for all of these sacrifices and all of the projects that their families come and doing.
Lawrence Jones, you are doing, you're rocking, man.
Like you guys in prayer, Lucas.
Thank you.
I want to thank.
We're up against a book for that.
Thank you.
And thank you.
Hard break.
Oh,
Heartbreak a minute after the interview starts.
We're in a heartbreak real quick.
A breath of it.
Donna Trump.
A little bit of a thick tongue going on there.
Dude, I love it.
Who's Donna Jane?
Donna Jane.
Lucas Thomas.
She kept saying,
Lucas, yeah, wonderful fella.
And the Army.
I love that.
I love her on.
She's getting started.
Let's have her on longer, Shannon.
I want her analysis of the of it.
If you want ratings to go up, who wouldn't watch that?
I wasn't going to play any of the commentary besides that.
So maybe it works.
Let's go to Freebird.
What's up, Free Bird?
Hey, guys, it's great Monday.
Hey, Drew, glad you back safe, man.
Thank you very much.
Glad to be back.
have we heard any preseason picks for Louisville in the ACC?
And the reason I ask that is, I know the ACs, nothing compared to SEC.
So, I mean, are they picked in the top tier?
Oh, yeah, I think they're picked too.
I think they people think they'll be.
Yeah, I appreciate the call.
I think they're going to be second or third in the ACC.
I mean, Clemson's a favorite, but they're probably picked right there below them,
second, third, something like that.
Yeah, looking up on the fly, there's,
It varies quite a bit, but Miami and SMU are up there with them, too.
One I'm looking at is fourth, one has third.
So they're in that top tier.
Yeah, which, you know, that, but they were good last year.
I mean, like, you know, they were, what, nine and three last year or something?
I mean, they were, they were, so, yeah, they're going to be.
Now, what would they have been in this conference?
Five and seven.
There were obviously a lot of Louisville fans listening to our show the other day because
they one corrected us pretty quickly on.
Yeah, you know, they correct this.
They were like, Matt Jones said we, we didn't play Clemson, we'd be Clemson.
Okay, well, you're right.
Sorry, messed that one up.
You did play Clemson.
That's nice.
You did lose to Stanford, which I believe that was the only game they won all year,
was the game against you.
So, Say LaVee.
There you go.
Dennis in Richmond.
What's up, Dennis?
Oh, yeah.
Two quick questions, and I'll get off here.
Number one, what do you think about the proposal of entertainers center around
Crobert Field?
and any words on who it's going to be
or is you can't going to have a general manager
as Vince as a position of Vince
is going to have.
Both good questions. Those are good questions.
Let's start with that.
We didn't talk about this.
Kentucky, as part of their,
appreciate the call, Dennis,
as part of the proposal to the board of trustees
asked to study, they didn't ask to get approved,
study the idea of an entertainment district around,
right, around Kroger Field.
I didn't love it
for the KS bar purposes
but let me take my self-interest out of the way.
Do you like the idea of an entertainment district
around Krogerfield?
I don't know where they're going to put it,
but let's just say they were to do it.
Yeah, Krogerfield needs something.
Tennessee is putting in a huge one at Nailen Stadium.
I know Krogerfield's not Nailen Stadium,
but they're even upgrading that.
As we've seen in years past,
the tailgating lots have kind of gone away a little bit.
Even this year they're bringing in corporate tailgates.
They need some kind of something to add to the
fan experience over there around the stadium.
I don't even know what it would be.
I still know how financially it works.
Like, we only have seven games a year.
Like, there's no parking.
I guess there would be parking if you have to be.
Presumably you're going to lose some parking to put that up.
Yes, you would.
Yeah, the difference with Tennessee is their basketball stadiums in the same
spot so they share it.
And then it's a place where people already go.
That's a part of Nicholsville Road that's not easy to get to, you know.
In theory, it's a good idea.
I just don't know how financially, and you're going to take more parking away?
Yeah.
I don't know.
I mean, you know, we talk to those people at Green Bay.
Green Bay's got that kind of that district, but they said they only use it eight times a year.
Pretty much that's about it.
Eight times year, it gets full.
Yeah.
That's the Packers.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Is it a cool idea?
Yes.
I don't know how it works there, though, because I don't know.
You're going to make all your money on eight Sundays.
Yeah, well, hopefully Saturdays.
If they made them on Sunday, it would be hard.
They've got to have big church services.
Maybe you use it with baseball too, but even that, that's not a huge crowd.
Maybe.
If you put it over there in the hole between all the complexes.
They're going to study it.
Maybe they come up with something that makes a lot of sense.
I just don't know that it works right there.
But you're right.
They need to do something.
Sure.
So maybe that's what makes it better.
You can still call 859-4-22-3-2-29-9 if you want to host us.
We'll come back.
