Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

That's how personal it got. Wow. Then after that game seven, Marquis keep coming to. He's like,

Yeah.
This is my best friend, Janet.
Hey.
And we have been joined at the hips since high school.
Absolutely.
A redacted amount of years later, we're still joined at the hip.
Just a little bit bigger hips.
This is a podcast.
We're recording it as we tailgate our youth soccer games in the back of my Honda Odyssey.
With all the snacks and drinks.
Why did you get hard seltzer instead of being?
Oh, they hit a bogo.
Well, then you got it.

Welcome, everyone. It is Kentucky Sports
Radio Thursday, June
the 19th. Juneteenth
here in Independence
Kentucky, where
we are being hosted as part of
KSR comes to you across
the summer. You can give a shout
on Clark's Department Shop phone line.
59-2-80-2287. A-Vision Auto Glass Text Machine is 772-724-254 in this edition
sponsored by the T.J. Smith Law Office, you call T.J. He'll make them pay. So, Ryan, when I had
the idea of doing this, like, go around the state, I didn't really know what was going to happen.
You know, I didn't know who's going to call in. I didn't know where we would end up. But the
idea was, you know, we've been doing these. We used to do the summer tour. That gets
exhausting because it's like you feel like you have to go to every affiliate that's 40 trips so you
don't really feel like you have a summer and then then we were doing it where people you could just
do it if you if you paid for remote and that's nice but then that means you're normally at
businesses right so that doesn't mean you're kind of in unique places so I thought well this
would be a way to go to places where people don't necessarily pay but you can come and you know
last week we went to had a lot of people in the retirement community that was fun and then
And now we're in Independence, and the guy said that called in, what was your name again?
Eric.
Eric.
A guy called and said, you know, I got a lot of pinball machines in my house.
And I thought, okay, he's probably got one or two pinball machines.
Right.
Like, you know, and he's a nice guy.
That'll be fine.
Oh, that's not where we are.
This Eric in Independence, who just lives when you just say like a normal.
Normal little subdivision.
Normal little, you know, subdivision in America.
and you go in his basement and he has 18 pinball machines
and a streaming, I want to say service,
but literally an ability to stream that is better than I hearts, Eric, let me just say.
Ability to stream.
He hosts pinball tournaments in here,
and this is why I wanted to go out on the road
because these are the kind of things, Ryan,
you don't see in everyday life a house full of pinball machine.
You know, we set the bar pretty high when our show at the
grandpals and grandmalls, but I think we've elevated the bar even more.
You walk down these stairs, and it's like, this is better than the...
This is better than an arcade.
Better than an arcade I grew up in.
And not only does he stream it, he's got commentators that do play-by-play.
I would love to do that sometime.
Would Drew? You wouldn't you love to?
Take the old, like we used to do with tennis with the pinball?
The announce table over there looks ready.
Got the green screen behind us.
All the camera set up.
Maybe we could try it soon.
So I was at an arcade in New York City just a week ago.
There are more machines here than there were.
in that arcane. So this is like old school
pinball. Mario is going to post.
It should be up in the next couple minutes. Mario will
post what it looks like. But there are pinball
machines. I'll just read
you some of the names. I'll give you the normal
ones first. Like
Pulp Fiction from the movie,
The Walking Dead, Shannon, that's your
thing, right? Yeah, I like to play that one.
Game of Thrones,
Dirty Harry, for the Clint Eastwood
Woman, Star Wars, etc.
Those are the normal ones. Now there's
also ones named, for instance,
It's Cheetah, the bad girls.
And let me just say, think about what you think the bad girls pinball looks like.
It looks sexier than that one.
Demon Daddy, or no, what's that say?
Diamond Shady.
Diamond Lady.
I like Demon Daddy better.
Well, Diamond Lady looks like what you would think as well.
There's one that's called Queen, and I can't even say the other word it's called on the radio.
So this is very interesting and impressive, and it's good to be an independent.
He was talking to us before we got on the show.
He was like, he hosts these major tournaments.
So people come from around the country to independent.
I wonder how many people in the neighborhood really know what's happening here.
What's going down in that house?
What's they're doing over there again?
He is.
On the 4th of July weekend, he hosts a tournament where people from around the country come to his basement to play demon baby.
or whatever over there.
50 or 60 people will be down here in his basement playing video games for a major tournament.
Do you cook for him?
I used to.
And then you were like, bring your own food.
Yeah, I'm not cooking for you.
Just the fact that she allows them in the house.
What was your name again?
Angie.
Angie, you have to be a saint to allow Eric to do this in this house.
And like this, it's clearly his, it's clearly a passion.
And I think that's very cool.
Great time you pursue your passion.
In some games, he says, Drew, are harder than others.
I'm tuning in for the next live stream
We didn't mention there's this whole operation on wheels
That goes over a pinball machine
You get the view of the player
The score
You got the commentators over here in this corner
It is a full production
You mentioned this should be on
When ESPN does the Ocho
It really should
Why wouldn't you?
And what I love about this is
If you just drove in this neighborhood
First of all, have you ever been to Independence?
I don't think I have a show at Simon Kenton High School one time
We did that was during COVID
It was during COVID
So besides that
I don't think I've been to Independence, a little bit off the interstate.
I will say as I walked up, one of your neighbors had his shirt off in his garage working with his butt crack showing.
Was that the guy playing the loud music?
He was playing very loud music, I thought, for a subdivision at 9.15 a.m.
Honestly, he looked like he could have been in Middlesbrough.
And he was right here.
That was nice.
And then you come in here and you just would never see this.
So that's great.
Yeah, like you said, it's better than the arcades we grew up in,
but I just love the fact that, like,
there is a community of pinball people that I didn't even know existed.
Now that I know there's a World Series of pinball just in his basement,
I'm going to be wondering what all my neighbors have going on in their basement.
So that's what I was saying is that clearly in Kentucky,
I mean, we talked about how Norton Commons they have stuff going on
that we didn't know, the upside down pineapple stuff.
This is a different kind of thing,
although maybe that's what happens here too.
I don't know.
But I'm with you.
If you got to be stuck.
What else is going on in the neighborhood?
When I did the book and I went to all these counties and I learned just the official things that happened in each county, it was fascinating.
The unofficial things.
Things like this.
So I will say for the others that host us when we do this over the course of the next few weeks, you all have high bars to eat.
The first two, food was excellent.
People were excellent.
Here, they have food for it.
They also have pinball machines, and it's a cool environment.
So it's going to be a high standard.
Eric and Angie have knocked that out of the park with this one.
So thank you for calling and bringing us over here because this is really cool.
This is great.
So we're here in part because as soon as this is over, I'm getting in the car to go to the Reds game.
The Red Hot Reds.
You know, I'm not going to make this a Red show because I know everybody doesn't care about the Reds, but Reds are hot.
The Summer's back on.
The Summer Valley is scorching.
Okay.
You know, they say that Omaha this weekend is going to have a heat.
stove, have you heard about this?
No. Omaha, where the college world
series is, there's some storm coming
with heat that
is just going to trap like
105 degree heat
in Omaha for like four
days while they're playing baseball.
I mean, they're telling people who go to the
college world series to the finals, like,
I don't know, be careful.
I don't know what officially they're saying,
but it's supposed to be crazy hot.
That's how the reds are right now.
They are that hot.
9 of 11.
Last night, it was 2-hour rain delay.
I was there for all of it.
Then the game started.
We got the lead, and I was like, rain, right, right, right.
And everybody was shit.
And then when it started raining, the crowd went nuts.
And they canceled the game with the Reds ahead.
And now only a half game back from the wild car.
A half game, Ryan Littman.
And you said it was Ellie Bobblehead Night last night?
I didn't get one.
You didn't get one?
I don't like it.
I feel like if you pay for season tickets as much as I pay,
they should guarantee you the ball of it.
And they're like, can't do it.
and people were everywhere.
Between the dogs and the L.A.
Bottlehead, this was the biggest crowds of the year.
This is a big week for the Reds.
I feel like you've been going more than usual, too.
You often give your tickets away.
I feel like you're on a streak of catching all the home games later.
Well, I mean, I wanted to get all these because next week,
Yankees, I'll probably sell a couple of those.
They're going, I mean, you should see the prices of the Reds Yankees going for it.
No kidding.
Oh.
Buy tickets, $6 to $800 a ticket?
Wow.
So, I mean, yeah.
Are you going to go to any of the games?
I might go to one because I want to see Aaron Judge.
I've seen him in Yankee Stadium but never seen him.
He'll hit a home run.
I mean, our stadium is so small.
He'll hit five home runs probably.
I think you feel like, yeah, you've got to go to at least one of those games.
Who in baseball would you, would you pay?
If you were in neutral, who would you pay to see play?
Ellie.
Otani.
First of all, Otani is number one.
Aaron Judge.
I would say Ellie should be very soon after that.
Is there anybody else you would pay?
Like, I want to go see that person?
Just to say you saw him one time in your lifetime?
I mean, I think Otani and Judge are the two.
Those are by far the best.
Is there anybody else, though, in the sport that you're like, I want to see that person?
I don't think there is.
I think those are the ones.
So I probably will go once.
I can see why.
I mean, your team's hot.
Might even win that series?
Ellie versus Aaron Judge?
Slow down.
I'm still waiting for the other for the other, you know.
The other shoe to drop.
They pitched.
So they pitched Fat Damon two nights ago.
Andrew Abbott.
Is that what it says in the back of his jersey?
No.
Fat Damon?
There's the actor, right?
No, I know Matt Damon.
No, there's an actor.
He was in Breaking Bad.
Huh?
No, he's in Breaking Bad.
And he looks like Matt Damon,
but like if he was fat and had a mustache.
What was his name?
He was in the final?
Oh, yeah, Jesse Clemens.
Andrew Abbott looks like him.
Okay.
So we call him Fat Damon, and he's good.
And then Nick Ladolo pitched last night.
And Nick Lodos was like 6-10.
Yes, he is.
And so they've been a lot of fun.
Now, I'm going to be out in a couple weeks, but right now I'm on.
Well, we kind of flip-flopper every week.
Summer Valley's over, Summer Valley's back on.
Summer Valley's over, Summer Valley's back on.
It's back on.
We got it going.
Now, yesterday, including someone at the game, the dog comment just people didn't like it.
True.
I mean, people, you know, the anonymous accounts on Twitter, there's a group of like 20 anonymous accounts, UK accounts on Twitter that for whatever reason,
they all may be run by the same guy.
They just, for whatever reason, they don't like me.
And then yesterday it was the dog comment for both Louisville fans and those people was proof.
I saw all of these comments yesterday.
This is not an exaggeration.
It was proof that I was a stupid liberal.
Really?
Yes, it was a proof that I was, this is why I'm single,
is because I don't want to be at bark at the park night.
And surprising to me, this is why you're gay,
which I didn't expect to be.
I don't know what that has to do with dogs.
It's not true, but I would feel like the gay people I know like dogs.
Generally speaking, people really didn't like that.
upset. I even told you yesterday afternoon. In the last month, you've gone after
children's graduations, Disney, dogs, pretty much the heart of America. Adults going to
Disney without children. That's what I was saying. For kids, I totally did. Destin, Panama City,
a lot of things that your listeners love, you have attacked lately. Yes. But it's not, I wasn't
attacking dogs. I was attacking bark at the park specifically. And you love dogs, Ryan, and you
agreed with me. So I don't know why I was catching so much heat for that. I want to go to the
ballpark. I don't worry about picking up poop from my dog all the game. I didn't even think about
that. Yeah. My dogs would poop and pee all over the place. I'm not going to be spending my time.
So what do they do for that? I didn't even, when I was complaining, I didn't even think about the,
they've got to have probably little doggy bags that give you when you walk in and tell you to
clean up your own dog's mess. They do. They have them around. Okay. See, I didn't, I didn't even.
Now I want to tell you something, and it made me feel bad.
See what makes you feel bad.
Okay.
Somebody heard our conversation on the radio, sent me a message and said, look,
my dog is my best friend.
I don't have a lot of friends.
I want to go to the ballpark, so I'm going to the ballpark with my friend.
Well, okay, so why are you going to make me feel bad?
All right.
Come on, Matt.
No, like, that's nice.
I mean, that's nice.
But, no.
I always want to go to the park, but I don't want to go by myself.
We had this problem at KSpar.
We have a patio.
Yeah.
And sometimes people want to bring.
the dog on the patio.
And I don't, my policy has been, no.
Because this is a restaurant.
Yeah.
Right.
I mean, we did bring a horse into the restaurant once, but that was a different thing.
And then we kind of like soften that and go, well, but I don't want it to be a patio
full of dogs when we reopen.
So it's fine, whatever.
But at the bark at the park, I'm not saying they shouldn't have it.
It's just if I had known, maybe I wouldn't have gone.
that night. And the crowd, it obviously works.
That's why the way to do it. It clearly works.
They had a huge crowd. They combined it
with 3-2-1 night. I mean, like
clearly works. It was a Tuesday
and Wednesday. They get huge crowds.
I saw a TikTok of someone who took their old dog
and their dog passed and they carried on the tradition
with their new dog and they're crying about how
the traditions moved on.
Doesn't that tug on your heartstrings
just a little bit? Somebody's
I mean, their old dog died.
It had gone to Bark in the Park every year and now the new dog
has taken this place. First of all.
You meant they took like the old dogs like remains or something to do this.
They spread its ashes.
Okay.
Speaking of, I watched the mortician last night.
Good?
Yeah.
It's pretty wild.
All right.

We'll see what he thinks of the verdict.

What's up guys? This is Clivert Taylor the 4th.
And on my podcast, The Cliverts show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff.
Like being an internet famous referee.
We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker-
You know these kids.
This linebacker walks up to me.
He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue with 42.
Hey, rec, my mama want you to wave at her.
What?
Where's she at?
Hey, Ms. Parker.
Listen to the Cliverts show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.
What's up, fam?
It's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm C.J. Toledano.
And our podcast Point Game is about.
about defying the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs
without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves,
I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series
because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nash would get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
He running up the court, licking his fingers why he got the ball.
Like, you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick.
Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball.
So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
soccer is about to explode.
The World Cup is coming.
Ramos sending on to Ernie Stewart the chip.
I'm Tad Ramos.
I'm Tom Boe. On our podcast,
Inside American Soccer, you'll get the real storylines.
I'm not worried about Policic.
I'm not worried about Balligan.
I'm not worried about McKinney.
My only concern is what happens in the back.
The biggest decisions.
If you're going to look at stats and numbers,
he has no shot at making this World Cup team.
And the truth.
about the U.S. national team.
It wouldn't be a huge surprise
if our team ends up in the quarterfinals
or potentially a great run into the semifinals.
The World Cup is almost here.

Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio.
859-280-2287.
People say in other baseball players,
maybe Mike Trout.
Yeah.
I've seen him, though.
I've been there a couple times.
and he's been there. Paul Skeens.
That'd be somebody I think you want to see at some point.
Yeah, because he's, I haven't been to a game yet with him.
But they play the Pirates like every day, so I feel like I'll see him at some point.
Pete Crow Armstrong, I've seen him.
He hit like six home runs at the games where I was.
Yeah, that's probably a good group.
Throw Ellie in there, and that's probably the six, wouldn't you say?
You know, I know I've been talking about Ellie forever.
People are probably tired of it.
He's going to be on that list.
not like he's going to be next in terms of how,
because he's so much fun when you watch him.
He's so fast.
You know, there was an era not just long ago where I think you wanted to go see I Chiro,
Derek Zeter.
Who was that?
Derek Zer.
You want to go see EZero and Derek Zedar?
Derek Zeter was a good play.
He was a great player.
Yeah.
Alex Rodriguez.
But there's just not that group of guys anymore.
No more Derek Zedars.
They've gone away.
One person writes, Matt, if I believe I know where you live, the amphitheater is going in close to you, they are going to have a lot of dogs.
Yeah, that's true.
I've thought about that.
You know, I'm pretty close to the new park amphitheater going on behind Rupp.
And I have mixed emotions about it because I'm going to be able to sit on my porch and hear music during the summer that I think it's going to be awesome.
First of all, have you seen?
Have you all seen the amphitheater?
It's nuts yet.
It's going to be amazing.
It's going to be awesome.
It's basically mostly up.
Now they're dealing with a lot of the roads and things.
That amphitheater behind Rupp is going to be awesome.
For those of you that, I mean, unless you live downtown, most of y'all probably haven't seen it yet.
It's going to be great, Drew.
And there's going to be music like all summer.
I'm looking forward to that.
But there's also going to be people, and that's the negative of it.
you're excited about the music now but do you think after a few weeks or months of it you're
going to be like oh pins on what it is so like it's it's going to seat 7,000 so I was trying to
think of the kind of artist like a 7,000 seat thing in lexington will get some cool artists because
we don't really have anything like that I mean what's river been in Cincinnati
9 10 something like that yeah I mean what oh 20 well that so that
That gets a bigger level of artist.
But I do think, you know, in Lexington, we've got like one or two thousand,
Opera House, Manchester Music Hall, and then it goes up to Rupp.
You know, there's like nothing in between.
This will be in between.
I think you'll get cool stuff.
See, there's like a gigantic slide or something, too.
Maybe you go over there on the playground.
What is that?
I think it's just a playground slide.
It's a big slide for a huge slide.
Like, be careful, kids.
It's a huge, huge slide.
It is pretty amazing how quick.
quickly that's come up.
You see it every day.
It's supposed to open like August 23rd?
It's that close?
It's that close.
Really?
It's going to be nice.
Now, it's going to be up to the city to keep it nice because I do worry about that because
it's kind of tucked back there.
But if the city keeps it nice, I think that's going to be a really nice place.
Well, they're seeing like they're doing it right.
They're doing the right thing putting in the amphitheater and a park for kids.
You know, there's going to have something for dogs.
It's going to be a dog park or something over in that area, for sure.
That should be banned.
The College World Series, did you see the Arkansas player drop the ball?
Just an absolutely brutal thing.
You didn't see it.
It was 5-3 LSU in the ninth inning.
They hit a thing to the outfield.
The guy slips as he's trying to get it.
Falls.
It goes off his glove.
The LSU ties the game and then ends up winning.
It was awful.
I felt bad for him.
They had multiple chances.
Before that, they probably had a double play.
I went to the force out at third.
Another error after that.
I mean, that was just one of the biggest meltdowns you'll ever see.
So if you're the dude that falls in left field and you're in college,
was there two outs or one out?
Two.
They're one out away.
So the game's over if you catch it.
And instead, not only do you fall down, not only you miss the catch, you fall down,
which gives them enough chance to tie the game.
Even if he just doesn't.
Yeah, even if he just doesn't catch it, they could live to play another play.
But because he fell down, they scored.
That's got to be, and you're in college?
and they zoomed in on him as soon as the game ended.
On ESPN, they show it on SportsCenter.
I mean, you feel sorry for the guy, Ryan?
My heart broke for that dude.
As a former left fielder, man, you're out there.
You're kind of not involved in the game at all most of the time.
You had your one moment, and I thought it went off his head.
When it happened live, I really did.
I thought that bounced off that dude's head.
It kind of looked like it came off his head a little bit.
It is pretty bad.
It's very bad.
And then.
I mean, his dugout just.
the crush.
And in the moment that happened, you knew they were going to lose.
It was certain at that moment they were going to lose.
And then you think about the dude has to go back in the locker room with these teammates,
got to go home with them.
I mean, it's just that ride home has got to be awful.
And Arkansas cares about baseball.
So, I mean, he's going to be, I don't know his name,
but Arkansas fans are going to, like his name is going to live in infamy.
I mean, so I was trying to think of who are the people like that?
Who are the names of people that play that you can remember,
basically because they screwed up.
Scott Norwood, the kicker for the bills.
Buckner's the big one.
And what's shame about Buckner is he's nearly a Hall of Fame level player,
and we only know him for that.
I mean, he was like a great player, multiple-time All-Star,
and we know him because he did that.
I don't want to do this, but is there a Kentucky version of that?
I'm not going to say it.
I don't want to say it.
Oh, you got one?
Yeah.
Why won't you say it?
Because he's a friend of mine.
Who?
Saul Smith?
No.
What did Dante do?
What did Dante do?
No, no.
Are you talking about, well, you're going to say Marty Moore.
Yeah.
Right.
Marty Moore against Clemson and the ball game.
But who was supposed to stop the LSU Hell Mary?
I'll throw them in there.
Well, but we don't know the name.
You know, that's the thing.
Who did it, whose hand did it go off?
Ronnie Riley was one of the guys back there.
Well, why you got to throw Ronnie Riley under the bus?
Nobody even knew his name and you just threw him under the bus.
John Caliperi changing the game plan against Wisconsin.
That's one for me.
One of them in a game that's not as important was Shiree Thomas
when he stepped into the free throw line in the SEC tournament.
Remember we had it won against I think Mississippi State,
and he got a lane violation.
And we ended up, and then I think Jody Meeks or something missed the free throw.
Can you think of any others in basketball, any sort of?
Yeah, and Nazi Muhammad.
PJ Washington and Nazim Mohammed missing free throws.
Missing free throws stinks, but I don't feel like it's as bad as like a, well, like Chris Weber.
Chris Weber for Michigan, calling the timeouts.
What's the guy's name on Georgetown?
Fred Brown.
Freddie Brown threw the ball to Michael Jordan in the national teams?
James Worthy, yeah, intercepted.
James Worthy?
Yeah.
So anyway, whoever that Arkansas kid's name is, I don't know it.
But at least in Arkansas, that name will go into the.
there. And they kind of have a history of choking in Omaha.
They do, yes. I think they're even like 0 and 5 against LSU, so just another one for them.
Heartbreaker, they thought they had it.
LSU and Coastal Carolina playing for the title. And here's what's crazy.
They played for the title 10 years ago, the same two teams.
And Coastal Carolina got that one then. So we'll take a break. Be right back.
This is Kentucky Sports Radio.
T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J. He'll make them pay.
Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones.
Welcome back, Kentucky Sports Radio.
We are on the road.
Kentucky Department of Highway Safety, KSR's Safe Summer Driving Tour.
KSR comes to you here in Independence, Kentucky at the pinball basement capital.
How good do you think you could do at these games?
You're a good pinball player, aren't you, Drew?
I love vintage games.
I haven't played a lot of pinball.
I'm sure I can hold my own pretty well, but old stuff like this, I love.
We let Mario film you playing bad girls.
It's a pretty graphic scene.
there, but I'm willing to play it.
Before you guys got here asking, which was the most
valuable one? He thought the Walking Dead may be the
most valuable one, but the oldest one is this one
right here. Yeah, that one looks old, yeah,
Bally's Odds and Evens.
That's old school.
Oh, very old school.
I've been looking to buy one of these. It's called
ice cold beer. I've tweeted about it
before. I bet your guy could help you find it. It is
so fun. I even thought about putting in the bar.
Hey, the Lexington Soccer Club
fans, you can purchase tickets for the next
home game, June 20th.
They play Colorado Springs at 7 p.m.
$1.50 beer night.
I was scheduled to do this ad anyway, but I had as a topic I was going to talk about Lexi and
FC.
I have now had multiple friends of mine, including you Drew.
Right here, present.
The turkey hunter said this, and I had another friend all in the last week.
Tell me how much fun going to these games is.
Yeah, I wanted to go to their last home game.
I was out of town.
I might end up going tomorrow night.
I went to the last month's dollar beer night.
It's a fun time, $1.50 beer night.
They have an $8.59 ticket promotion.
$8.
to get in the match, $8.59 to get in the match.
That's a good deal.
$8.59.
Yeah, I get it.
Maybe they'll do a 606-1-19.
So they play, and the game this week is on ESPN2.
Is it really?
First ever televised game.
Yes.
Is that this week or next week?
No, it's this week.
Yeah, Colorado Springs.
This Friday against Colorado Springs is on ESPN2.
So let's get a good crowd out there to show Lexington.
It plays Friday night.
the 20th out there.
And like I said, every friend I've had that's been there for a game,
I went to a preseason game, but a real game has said it's been awesome.
Yeah, I'm still learning the chance.
We say Vamos, Lex, and Lex Go.
Those are some of our chance.
I think I'm going to do the drum entrance with the crazies for the Louisville game next month.
Oh, good.
Yeah, the Louisville game is coming up.
It's July 26th.
Who's up first, Shannon?
Let's go to Jordan.
Jordan.
Go ahead, Jordan.
Hey, Matt.
I live in Independence.
Oh, you live in Independence?
I know you talked about the force.
I live in Independence.
We have like a massive fireworks show, like probably 5,000 people right in town there.
You have a 5,000 person fireworks show here?
There's not even 5,000.
Are there 5,000 people that live here?
Oh, that's right.
We did do the research.
It's grown in the population.
You've got to do it big if you're independent.
That's true.
If you're independent, you do have to do it.
It's massive.
But yeah, just wanted to give some positivity for UK football.
I called a couple weeks ago about recruiting.
That was in a bad spot.
I don't know this is a great spot, but I think you guys have kind of alluded to,
like Vince was going after these guys that he missed,
that went to Ohio State, Alabama, whatever.
And I'm not really sure any of those guys have worked out other than Juan Dale,
which has been, what, four or five years.
So I think changing the strategy, you know, Vince kind of likes the spotlight of,
oh, I got this guy from Georgia, but, you know, maybe he doesn't like a smaller guy.
Well, I mean, I hope I appreciate the call.
They've gotten a bunch of commitments since Vince left.
They changed the strategy on how they were going to bring in transfers.
We'll find out this year if it works.
Honestly, these recruits they get, hope they work.
We've had five-star guys like Matt Eelam not work out.
We had the lowest ranked recruit of the era was Josh Allen,
who ended up being the fourth pick of the draft.
So there is a level where you're guessing, Drew,
but I'm, you know, hope for the best.
Ultimately, it's all going to come down if they win this year or not.
None of these kids that are coming will even be here if they don't win, so it doesn't matter.
I'm trying to get excited about recruiting.
They have added like five guys in the last couple weeks.
They're looking real good with a quarterback from up this way that's out at the Elite 11 camp,
but it's really hard to get excited about on down the road with this upcoming season
in a few months being so important.
Isaac Humphreys is another guy that had a moment of difficulty.
Remember when he slammed the ball again?
against Texas A&M, although I don't blame him for that.
They should have never called that.
We've talked about this before.
Isaac Humphrey's best games are not going to be a member because they were both in a loss.
But he didn't deserve that.
That was a non-needed call in that Texas A&M game.
Correct.
That rules for when you, like, slam it and walk away.
He just didn't really gather it back.
He just didn't catch it.
He just didn't catch it.
That was the only problem.
The NBA draft, there are some people that suggest,
that maybe three Kentucky guys get sneak into the draft at some point.
And Kobe Brea is almost certain to get draft.
Look that way.
Shout out to him.
If you want anything to show you that the NBA has changed,
look at the fact that Kobe Brea,
probably the slowest player on our team next to maybe Andrew Carr,
is the one to get drafted again, Drew, because he can shoot so well.
I'm to the point.
I'll be surprised if he doesn't get drafted.
He's obviously flawed defensively, but the NBA doesn't care with the way he shoots.
They'll find a spot for him on a bench and bring him in to knock down shots
because anyone that shoots at the level he does, they'll make room for you in the NBA these days.
And then Amari Williams, there are a couple mock drafts that have him going kind of into the second round.
You know, it's hard for me to see him having, it's hard for me to see him playing the NBA because he can't shoot.
But there are guys, I mean, he can do all the other things you would want.
So I guess they're, you know, if he's in the right system, maybe it works out.
You know, the game has kind of changed.
You're right.
Back in the 80s, he would be probably a higher draft pick.
There's a big guy that can bang around and you can score down to the paint.
But I think they probably think his ball handling and ability to, like, switch on defense is very valuable even if he can't shoot.
That's probably what the mindset.
And his passing, he's elite for his size of passing.
Most of the projections have the Knicks getting him to put with Carl.
I mean, you could have a cat go up there in New York.
then Nick's really like him in that role.
And then Jay Billis said yesterday he thinks Jackson Robinson gets picked.
You know, he was the one that I always thought had a chance to get picked.
He just never was able to get in a full rhythm for the course of the year.
So Kentucky could have three guys get picked.
They could have none.
I think it's pretty certain Braya gets picked, who we'll see about the other ones.
But I think at least all three of those guys, Drew, will have a chance to get on a roster
if they play well in the summer league, et cetera.
Yeah, Robinson, that wrist just kept him out from everything.
He missed the end of the season, but then he also missed pretty much this entire draft process.
I think he just now got cleared to get a few last minute workouts in.
But would you believe me this time last year if I said Kentucky would have more draft picks than Arkansas, potentially?
Oh, that is fascinating.
Because that was the big change.
Wait a minute, that is, you're right.
They're one at most.
Because they're only going to get a two.
Probably in the second round.
Now that is an interesting.
that I've never considered.
You could have Mark Pope going
exactly as far as Cal in the tournament
and getting more guys drafted.
And you're right.
This time I...
No way.
That is a narrative flipper.
Pope should call it the best day
and you came back to the day.
If they get two second round picks,
he should call it the greatest day.
Dude, I hope we get two now just for that.
Well, you know, I mean,
if you're Mark Pope and you're trying to sell
specifically to portal people.
Because it's a little different when you're recruiting out of high school.
But if you're trying to sell to people in the portal,
I had three guys come here, none of whom we're going to get drafted.
Jackson Robinson might have.
But maybe none of whom were going to get drafted.
And I got all three of them drafted.
Good recruiting pitch.
Ryan, I think that's a pretty good sale.
It's a pretty good sale, Matt, sell to be able to make it in the portals.
Especially with Kobe and Amari.
If those two guys ended up getting drafted, yeah.
Well, Mari wasn't on anybody's course.
Correct.
Right. And Kobe, he developed an all-round game, became not just a shooter.
He could create his own shot, you know, get open,
create some space to get an open look.
So I think both those guys developed a lot last season.
Dude, you've made it to where we have to get two guys drafted.
That had absolutely never occurred to me that you could get more guys drafted.
Just popped in my head, too.
Must be all the pinballs.
Yeah.
Boy, it's working well in your brain.
Because you're thinking last year...
I mean, you're looking directly at the bad girls.
Yeah, I'm playing bad girls here in a little bit.
Yeah, it also is called Gottlieb bad girls.
Is that something to do with Doug Gottlie?
That's really weird if it is.
I hope that's not true.
What's next?
Russ.
Russ.
Russ, go ahead, Russ.
Hey, guys, good morning.
Greetings from Vanderburton County.
Another one is, remember when the ball went off Jose Konseko's head for a home run?
Yeah, that's right.
That's one of the great highlights of all time.
The ball...
I don't think that was a big game, but,
Otherwise, yes, that was a funny one.
I had the opportunity last year to see Zach Calzada play live.
Okay.
And he's quick. He's very quick.
I think if we're in a third and sixth situation,
and when Brock would take off, we would hold our breath that we could get six.
Calzada can get you the sixth.
He's that quick off the edge if he does need to get open.
And I was looking at the schedule.
I'm really worried about going into the month of October
with potentially with only one win
and Texas coming in into town.
I think the schedule is really against Kentucky.
If we only have one win going into October, it's over already.
I mean, I appreciate it.
I mean, it's over.
If we don't beat Toledo, in my opinion, it's over right then, probably.
You know, the Ole Miss, it'd be nice to win,
but we can still have a good year,
that decent year and lose that game.
Oh.
What are you doing over there?
Mario.
Mario, what are you doing?
You're having people cuss at me.
Can't take Mario anywhere.
Wow, Mario just had a lot.
For those of you that couldn't hear it through the radio,
and I hope that's everyone,
Mario bumped into the Pulp Fiction game,
and it gave one of the lines that, what's his face says?
Samuel L. Jackson.
Jackson's character says.
Got right to it.
Mario, if you get us fined,

Yeah, everybody in and around Berksville.
We're coming tomorrow to Mike's Landing.
Yep.
Mike's Landing and Salfour Creek.
I'm getting up at the crack of dawn to come see you all tomorrow.
So I hope you're there with us because that's a long drive and I'm looking forward to it is beautiful.
It is beautiful down the truck.
It really is.
Beautiful.
If you've got nothing else to do tomorrow, it's a holiday, whatever.
You definitely ought to go.
We'll take a break.
Be right back here in Independence, KSR.

All of a sudden, I'd had hanginess happening on my own.
I was like, what the hell is that?
I was married when I had her,
so I didn't even consider how empty that nest was going to be.
Mood swings, night sweats, fupas, sex drive.
Wait, what sex?
Dating at 45.
How high can it be?
I'm getting naked at 50 with the new guy.
That one's kind of hard.
Well, that's lighting.
They say we can't polish a turd, but we're sure going to try.
So let's get blunt with laughs, tears or tears of laughter,
and dive into it, unfiltered and unbothered and ask,
how hard can it be?
I cannot believe I'm about to say this out loud in public.

Welcome back.
it is Kentucky Sports Radio here in Independence.
Got a couple kids here going to UK next year.
We were just talking about the dorms.
How nice they are.
It's not even fair.
I live on, I mean, I don't mean to sound like an old man,
but basically on two concrete slabs in a little tiny room.
And I was in the nice room at Trancy.
Now, you know, these dorms, I was walking by Trancy yesterday
and saw how nice the dorms are now.
Like all these kids, it's a different world, Drew, than even when you were there.
I mean, we walked up hill both ways to get to class.
I don't think they have to do that anymore.
That's right.
We did.
We were just talking about Hagan Hall that a lot of people have stayed in,
probably listening, is now a historical marker.
And just walking by a historical marker of a place used to be is not fun.
Clay Davis at Trancy is now a beach volleyball court.
I mean, the whole thing is it's changed so much.
But good for them.
It'll be a much better experience than when I was there and having to deal with those rooms.
Normally this would not be something.
I usually don't talk about weddings,
but I did have to bring up this.
You know, Jeff Bezos, that owns, he's the third richest person in the world.
He owns a big part of Amazon.
He's getting married in Venice next weekend.
And I saw, like, the list of everybody that's invited.
It's like a who's who of famous people.
But this was the part that was interesting.
Do you know how much they're spending just on the ceremony?
And then I'm going to tell you the other things they're spending money on.
But just on the money.
the ceremony, what do you think would be a wedding that seems a little expensive, Ryan?
Knowing him, I would say $2 million.
What do you think?
Ceremony only, I'm saying $10 million.
$18 million only on the ceremony.
Good grief.
In Venice.
Now, if you've ever been to Venice, there's actually not a ton of places to stay in Venice.
Most people stay, because it's an island.
Well, it's going to be gone in 30 years.
probably due to climate change.
But it's like an island sort of.
And so most people stay off of the, and then they'll come in during the day.
So if you want to stay in the city, there aren't a lot of choices, and they are very expensive.
What did Jeff Bezos do?
He bought out three hotels for the night for the gas at a cost of $700,000 each.
So he spent $2.1 million on just housing people to come.
If you come to his wedding, he will pay for it.
As a matter of fact, he is paying for private jets to come to his wedding.
He's basically paying for everything.
They think the total cost, according to this newspaper, in England,
is around $25 to $30 million for the wedding.
I believe I saw he also bought up all the boats that would normally take people,
like tour boats.
He even bought all those up so no one can just pass by.
He has bought the boats trying to limit the amount of people,
that will be on the island. Now, he can't, like, prohibit it. People can still come on by train and
stuff, but there is no boat access to Venice on a Saturday during the summer, during Jubilee,
the Catholic 25-year thing. So presumably one of the busiest days you can have. The people in Venice
are mad, the shop owners. They're like, there's going to be fewer people here, and this is one of our
busiest days of the year for your stupid wedding. So it is a Venice.
townspeople versus
Bezos.
Is it seem a little arrogant
to do all this for your wedding?
A little, good grief.
I mean, we call it stupid money.
That's just stupid money.
Spend that much money on your wedding.
Just go down to the courthouse.
You think you should just go to the third richest person
should just go to the courthouse?
Go down to Fayette County courthouse.
And go down to KSbar and buy
why is it always KSbar?
We don't do weddings at KS bar.
I mean, he is married an astronaut,
so he's got a really impressive.
she's seen Earth from space.
So it's going to take a lot of the pressure a little bit.
Yeah.
Well, so anyway, I'm going to be following.
I normally don't care about weddings, but the city,
there's some talk that people in the city may, like, protest the wedding,
the shopkeepers and stuff, because it makes sense.
Not only is there a Saturday in the middle of tourist season,
it's the once every 25 years biggest tourist season,
and he's just taken up the entire season.
He should go by to each shop.
So what did you make last year?
Here's that plus 10%.
That's actually what he ought to do.
You can't be that much money.
If he's going to pay for all, like just go give the little trinket people.
I'll take all of your trinkets, please.
That's actually, that would be a way to win everybody back, I bet.
All right, who's next?
Nico.
Nico, go ahead, Nico.
Oh, what's up?
Matt's Nico from North Carolina.
My question is you had to pick a quarterback wide receiver duo.
Yeah.
But they had to be Kentucky basketball players.
But who do you think the best Kentucky basketball QB wide receiver duo would be for Kentucky football?
All right.
So you're saying I need to find two basketball players to play quarterback and wide receiver on the football team from Kentucky history.
I appreciate the call.
Have we had a basketball player, Ryan, who played high school football at quarterback?
I don't know.
I don't think Anthony Epps was quarterback, but he played high school football.
Well, we have Willie at receiver.
Let's just get that out of the way.
I mean, it's right there for us.
Dude, you hit it.
That's exactly right.
We just need someone to get it to them.
We've had football players that were really good at basketball.
Yeah.
Couch, Lorenzen, Randall Cobb, Derek Smith, Dennis Johnson.
Dennis Johnson.
But have we had a bat?
Do you know one?
But again, oh, so he's a football player good at basketball.
Who is a basketball player we've had that could have played quarterback?
We have to have one at some point.
I saw Devin Booker launching Nerf football in the Bahamas, so I'll take him.
People still owe him money for that.
The guys I know that played high school football, Anthony Epps, Dominique Hawkins.
Did they play quarterback?
Dominic didn't play quarterback, but I'm thinking maybe Anthony did.
Robbie Moss tried out for the UK football team.
He was going to play UK football.
But he didn't play quarterback.
We need a quarterback.
We need a quarterback because you're right.
Willie's the wide receiver.
Chuck Hayes is the tight-in.
I got one.
Didn't Michael Porter play quarterback?
We're not biting him back.
I think that's...
Yeah, but he got recruited by USC.
Yeah, that was the big thing.
That's what they said.
Yeah, but he doesn't get to come back.
So somebody will know one.
There has to be one like back in the 70s and 80s when guys played every sport in high school.
There has to be one.
There was a basketball player that ended up playing...
Even if they just played high school football at quarterback, they're probably our best option.
Because you need somebody who knows the position and knows how to throw it.
Did Derek Ramsey play on the UK basketball team one year?
But again, that's a football.
player. We're looking for a basketball player
that played football.
Like a basketball player, we'll think of one. Somebody will give it to you.
We got our receiver.
Willie is definitely the receiver. 859-280-2287.
