The week, kind of a slow week, but the draft is tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:03:38 Kentucky guys hopefully will be picked. Reed Shepard probably looks like he'll stay in Houston after the Durant deal. He wasn't part of it. I thought there was a chance if they made a big deal he could get shipped off in it. So now Reed Shepard is going to play with Kevin Durant. That's kind of exciting. Yeah, it should get a big step up in minutes too. I mean, they traded away two guards in that backcourt.
Starting point is 00:03:58 So I'd say Reed's going to be a big piece coming off the bench. maybe one day plays way into starting point guard. You can end up with a situation where Reeds like Kays and Wallace, playing on a really good team playing fifth, six-man minutes here even next year, depending on how good they are. Reed's already done 100 things, no one expected. But, I mean, we're two years removed from him
Starting point is 00:04:17 just transitioning from North Laurel to UK. And now you're telling me, I mean, he could be in the finals next year passing to Kevin Durant. I mean, he literally was playing against Barberville in two and a half years ago. And now he's going to be like, hey, Durant, AKD, get open. I got you. And they're the second or third-ish favorite to win it next year behind the thunder? I mean, they'll be a contender. Just some nuts that it's going to be Reed Shepard and
Starting point is 00:04:40 Kevin Durant. You'll like this. The Matt Jones show this week. We have two different episodes. Would you like to hear the two guests? Please. One guest is going to be an expert on the Iran-Israel conflict. Okay. And the other guest is Aaron Fleener. Wait, that's not the same guest? No, Aaron Fleener, the caddy for JT. Post, and that's our friend. He's going to talk about what its life is like as a caddy on the PGA tour. Sure, I can see the transition. They were not putting them on together.
Starting point is 00:05:07 I don't think they would have the same thing going on. I'd be interested to hear Aaron Fleener's thoughts on the war. All right. So let's, I had somebody asked me about this yesterday, and I do think it's important to remember. Sometimes we talk about a subject, and the average person listening might not even know what we're talking about. And we were talking about the whole quote unquote motivated Mark Stoops thing. Yes.
Starting point is 00:05:28 And there were people who wrote me and said, have no idea what you're talking about. Because we have to remember that I say this all the time, only like 10% of our fan base is on Twitter. I mean, think about how many people are listening to this that are not on Twitter. It's a massive amount of people. Oh, yes. And then there's a ton of our fan base that's like only on Facebook, something I don't even
Starting point is 00:05:54 get on, really. And all you got to do is look at the comment sections and things to see those. And then there's a whole ton of the fan base. It's only on TikTok, right? And won't see it. They're the ones that know Mario better than they know a lot of the rest of us. Yep. So everybody's different.
Starting point is 00:06:12 So just quickly, the explanation. And then this is, you know, goes to the question of what they should do. We all agree that right now UK football has almost nothing to market. Would we agree? Yes. Let's say you were in charge of marketing. for UK football and they said market this season and get everybody going. What would you pick?
Starting point is 00:06:38 I would probably prop Calzada up there, our quarterback. But how many, what percent of our fans know what he looks like? That's why I would do it. I would prop him up and make him the face of the program. Calzada. Do you think our fans would even know what that means? That's why I think the marketing program needs to be, get that out there. So what would you say about it?
Starting point is 00:07:00 He's old. The new face of the UK football program, here's our guy right here. That's not a great slow. No, but I wouldn't start with it. What about you, Shannon? What would you market? UK football, come see us or don't? Shannon the dude.
Starting point is 00:07:23 Well, play. More dairy queen for me if you don't. Come see us or don't. What would you do? Well, this is their problem. I've mentioned this several times. They don't have anything to really say, well, look at this. Get excited about this.
Starting point is 00:07:36 They don't have players we know. Yeah, I would say concession stands closed. We have our act together. We are no longer going to eat during games. Our bad apples are gone. Look at this culture. Culture. Look at this brand new locker room.
Starting point is 00:07:53 So you would say culture. Yeah. Well, let me ask you questions. Before we get... We let the dog out. Let me give you just dead series. text machine 772-745-4. I know UK people listen to this show every day.
Starting point is 00:08:06 I'm a big believer in collective intelligence is better than individual intelligence usually. Give me a suggestion. Serious suggestion. For those of you, because I'll read a few of them and UK will hear it. 772-745254 on the text machine. What would you mark it?
Starting point is 00:08:24 Because I don't know the answer. The coach is not popular. We're coming off a terrible season. The culture was bad, and we have no players that anyone knows. Other than that. I don't know what you... But other than that, how was the play, Miss Lincoln? You're right.
Starting point is 00:08:46 You know, in years past, when we kind of in this situation, Will Levis ate a banana with a peel on it. He kind of just gave it to us. But Will Levis was a naturally charismatic guy who also... was like highly touted. Maybe Calzada is that guy too. We just don't know. We don't know.
Starting point is 00:09:05 I don't know anything about him. Do you think he's, I don't know. But he's not highly touted. He was at a high school. Yeah. And that was the 70s. It hurts. Even though it's a good program and it produced the number one pick,
Starting point is 00:09:18 like him coming from incarnate word, it's hard to put on a poster. It's hard to, it's hard to market that. It is. Yeah. From incarnate word to that's, that's a tough move. So. I think we say we got rid of our dog. That's the new slogan.
Starting point is 00:09:32 We let the dog out. You just throw Vince under the bus. Oh, that's interesting. We let the dog out. So market it around. We lost our dog. No, we lost our dog sounds bad. We let the dog out.
Starting point is 00:09:46 We put our dog down. We put our dog down. So the point of all that is to say with so little to grasp onto, there have been a group of fans on the internet who really don't like Mark Stoops. I think it all really goes back to the whole basketball school football school comment. They kind of sided with Cal and they blamed him. Right. And by the way, there are people in the football program who sided with Stoops and hated Cal. But Stoops has not had success since that happened. So they don't like him. So they started this every time he does something or says something or is seen out, they would just go, oh, he's motivated.
Starting point is 00:10:33 But it's like a sarcastic thing. He's motivated. And it became like any time you want to criticize him, motivated Mark Stoops. And my reaction to that is, well, you can't tell people, hey, don't make fun of our coats. Like, that's not going to work. Right? So the easiest way is for them to embrace it.
Starting point is 00:10:57 and just make it to where this thing that's used to criticize him, they say, this is what we are. I'm open to a better idea, but I don't have one. They need to do something because the silence from UK to football and the media people has been deafening over there at UK about that program. And that picture, which I think a guy named Shannon Flim Flam made. Flim Flam. flim flam, I think is as good as any.
Starting point is 00:11:27 Hey, yeah. So is that a terrible idea? Yeah, but there's nothing better. It is a terrible idea, but what's better? You think it is a terrible idea? I mean, do you want to embrace your coach's love for alcohol and a cigarette? No, no, no, I'm not saying. You can take the alcohol and the cigarette out of his mouth.
Starting point is 00:11:45 I'm just saying to you, the idea of using, I'm not saying you just having around. I don't even think he smokes cigarettes. You don't have him out there just pounding sigs. I'm saying like, but the idea of that being, we're going to take this thing we know you're giving us a hard time about and we're going to try to make it fun. I think that's better than anything else because they're not going to stop making fun of him. So, you know, it's like when people kept, when I was in college at trancy,
Starting point is 00:12:15 the other fraternities occasionally would say we were dorks. So we just started wearing shirts that said dorks and beating them in sports. It took away their thing. You're right. It took it away. You call me a stupid liberal. Well, I'll just say I'm a stupid liberal and I take that away from you. Why wouldn't you do that for this?
Starting point is 00:12:36 I'm all for it. I think they should completely lean into it. I mean, yesterday did you see they tweeted Motivation Monday? So do you think that was for this? I don't think that was intentional. I hope it was. Do you think Stoop's was looking pretty slim in that photo on Motivation Monday? I wanted to bring that up.
Starting point is 00:12:50 If I may compliment the football coach. I'm going to give you something that you. years ago, I had someone at the UK say to me talking about cow and stoops, they used to say that they would judge how good cow and stoops were going to do by based on how thin they were, that their weight would fluctuate based on where their state of mind was. And if you go back and look, there's some correlation to that. Stoops looks as thin as he's looked in a long time. Did you see the picture of cow at the Oklahoma City Thunder game?
Starting point is 00:13:26 Looking swaggy. Did you see that? Slant down. A lot of weight. Had a stylish shirt on? Maybe Arkansas is going to be better than we thought too. But Stoops is like that too. Stoops.
Starting point is 00:13:37 This is the trimest Stoops has been in a while. You know why? I'm grasping for things here, Shannon. I know that, but I'm looking for something, right? Well, maybe, you know, years past when they were bad, he was stress eating. I don't know. Well, in your life, when you've put. on weight, are you in a good place usually?
Starting point is 00:13:55 Not usually. Not usually. It's usually because you're going through stress, you're eating badly, you're not exercising. I can look at through, I can go through my pictures in my life and I can see the weight flow and it usually corresponds to what kind of mood I was in at the time. You're talking to me into Kentucky football in 2025 right now? So I'm saying you got thinner, motivated stoop. You're in the building more.
Starting point is 00:14:24 You're by the treadmill, the weights, the nutrition. You got Kausata, not quite time to collect AARP, and so he's still able to get it going. We're going to crush Toledo so bad. Oh, yeah. Get out of the way, Toledo. I'm trying. Embry, go ahead, Embry. First time, long time.
Starting point is 00:14:46 Who are? First time, long time. Thank you. Double whooa. Then I always appreciate when you guys do, you're the legislator, and so what do you think about the bill? Yes, I actually have that on my plate for 1130, but go ahead. Is it Senate Bill 181? I don't know what, I don't know the numbers, so I'm not sure.
Starting point is 00:15:09 Oh, okay. Well, it's the Kentucky Senate bill that is establishing a traceable communication, electronic communication between students and staff. That is on my list. Nice. If you will hang on, that is on my list. I appreciate the call. I have three. If you were the legislator, what would you do?
Starting point is 00:15:28 And that is on my list. I will do that at 1130. Why are you just staring off in the space? I'm looking at you waiting for a response. I thought she was getting ready to response. You didn't appreciate her call. I thought she was getting ready to say something. I did appreciate her call.
Starting point is 00:15:42 Swag Sandwich. Go ahead. That's really a name. Swag Sandwich. Hey, man. I'm going to assume you're doing good and not ask. Thank you. I got a question on the Rev split and the chicken man.
Starting point is 00:15:57 How do you think that's going to affect Calipari in Arkansas? And do you think that they will get a more higher percentage for their basketball team than we will? No. No. Their percentage will be less for basketball than ours because they, Arkansas fans desperately want to be good at football and they desperately want to be good at baseball. So I would actually argue that basketball for most Arkansas fans,
Starting point is 00:16:28 basketball is definitely second, and for some of them it would be third. Wasn't like that their big thing, like, now's going to get all this money and now it's the red split kind of, well, I mean, they'll still get the, like I think he'll still be able to get, like Tyson will probably sign these people to NIL deals, but if they enforce the thing where the deals have to be real, then they'll still have to be real. one of the things we don't know, and I appreciate the call, is whether or not this whole rule that comes into place that deals you give outside of the RevShare NIL deals have to be real deals. They have to be market value. If they enforce that, it changes everything. Now, are they going to enforce it? Drew, I don't know. They say they are, but I want to see it first.
Starting point is 00:17:12 How do they, how can they really tell what's a real deal? I don't know. Because like, and also what just stops people from buying the heck out of T-shirts? Like, someone really rich. maybe they even go by the NIO rules and still overpay for a product or whatever they're showing. The theory of making laws, you're always every law, you can't not make a law by saying somebody's going to break this. Because people will try to get around every law. The question is, is it the best law you can make? As a base, whatever they do, people are going to try to get around it. I just want to see do they try to enforce it even at its most basic level. Right.
Starting point is 00:17:49 And we'll have to see. they say they will. I think schools have an incentive to do it because they want to stop paying all this money. But we'll see if they do. I think it's going to be hard to police because obviously doing a deal in Lexington or Fayetteville is a little different than if you're in Chicago or Los Angeles.
Starting point is 00:18:06 But they did at least hire a private company that is responding to shareholders to do it. So it's not just a couple people. It is a business. That does give me some encouragement, right? They're paying this company to do it. The company is beholden to the, their shareholders, I think they're going to have to try to do it.
Starting point is 00:18:24 Now, whether it works, yeah, who knows? Summer weather has arrived. Shady, excuse me, cornbread hemp is offering a free four pack of, free four psalters, that's true, four pack of four shelters with every order over $75. They just sent me some the other day. You use the code summer sips. Summer sips, if you get your regular gummies or oils, use summer sip. and you can get a free four pack of celtors to try them.
Starting point is 00:18:54 It's pretty good, isn't it? Some of them are really good, too. Summer sips. So use, that's a cornbread hemp between me and you. It's a tough slogan. Summer sips. Summer sips. Use cornbread hemp.com.
Starting point is 00:19:06 Summer sips for a free four pack of shelters with any order. Over 75 or more, it's cornbread hemp. We'll be right back. Last night, a blown call changed the game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending. Opinions are flying. and nobody's telling you exactly what happened.
Starting point is 00:19:23 That's where Sports Slice comes in. I'm Timbo. Every episode, we're cutting through the noise. Breaking down the plays, the controversies, and the stories behind the headlines. We go straight to the source, the athlete themselves, their locker room stories, their reactions, the stuff nobody gets to hear.
Starting point is 00:19:37 The laughs, the drama, the triumphs, the moments that never make the highlight real. Trip Fontaine, Ryan Clark. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing. And we're still chasing it.
Starting point is 00:20:31 And we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth. Are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:20:47 And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person. Join me, Kear Gaines, as we have real conversations about healing, growth, fatherhood, pressure, and purpose on my new podcast, Learn the Hardway. Starting point is 00:21:06 What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast, Point Game is about defining the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
Starting point is 00:21:22 And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us
Starting point is 00:21:42 on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash will get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers why he got the ball. Like, you go through a training camp
Starting point is 00:21:58 with that I said, you figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, guys? This is Clever Taylor the Fourth. And on my podcast, The Cliver Show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff.
Starting point is 00:22:16 Like being an internet famous referee. We're in the middle of a game. This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me, he goes, Hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Quarterback on office, blue 42. Hey, rec, my mama want you to wave at her. What?
Starting point is 00:22:38 Where's she at? Hey, Miss Parker. Listen to the Clippers show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast or wherever you get your podcast. Somerset. Well, back, it is Kentucky Sports Radio. We got a message from Matt Jones Hoops Training. He sent you a message?
Starting point is 00:22:59 He sent me a message. What did he say? He said, this is the other Matt Jones of Lexington. Just all respect to Coach Pope in the program. As a person who teaches shooting for a living, I just have a difference in opinion when it comes to shooting. Fair enough. It's not exactly what he said on Instagram.
Starting point is 00:23:19 You would think. See, that's the difference between real life people and then what they are on social media. In real life, he goes, all respect to coach Pope, I just disagree with him about shooting. Online he goes, this is what's wrong with college coaches. Burr, brer, brer, brer, brer, brer, brer. It's a different thing. And I'm sure Matt Jones shooting hoops is great. But like, you know, that's different than what you would say if he was standing there.
Starting point is 00:23:45 Yeah, you would think a young guy starting a business about hoops, basketball, shooting, training. You'd want to get on board with the head coach of the university in your city. I think you kind of want to kind of go hand in hand with them, not fight the guy. All right, let's go through some of these suggestions on what UK football can do to market, Shannon. We'll see if you like these, all right? Let's go. That'll be fun. Number one, market our opponents.
Starting point is 00:24:06 Come to, come to Kroger Field and you can see really good teams play. So it's not even about our own team. It's about everybody else. I don't know if that's a good idea. I don't think I like that one, no. Sadly, that popped in my head when you asked me for ideas. Right. One person says, we're just getting started again, bro.
Starting point is 00:24:25 We're just restarting. Restarting, bro. We're just getting restarted. Okay. I like that one. I like that one. One person says Matt, Brad White has been fired up on Twitter. He's actually really gotten me into it.
Starting point is 00:24:37 Maybe they should give him more of a voice. Might be a good idea. I've always liked Brad White. Maybe make him more of a, of a, And I think that's the strength of the team this year of the defense, so maybe they should lean into that a little bit. One person says, Matt, they've gotten totally away from a lot of the fan outreach they did early. Have it had a women's clinic in six years? They need to have ways for fans to meet the players and do more things to get us to care one way or the other. Totally agree with that. They've gotten lazy on all of that stuff.
Starting point is 00:25:06 The women's clinic used to be a big thing. Even when we stunk, women really lie they got to go. There was always this fun stuff. Completely gotten away from that. COVID gave everybody an excuse to do all this, stop doing all this stuff they didn't want to do. They need to go back to it. Women's clinic, what about a spring game? They used to fill that stadium or, you know, at least have a decent turnout for a spring game. This thing last year is almost like they didn't want anybody there. Spring game.
Starting point is 00:25:35 Fan day, women's clinic, all these things. And if they're going to do it, this is the year where they need to do it to get the fan base back on board. What about this is the slow? Kentucky football. Embrace the mystery. Who the hell knows what's going to happen out there? It's a mystery. It's going to be a complete mystery.
Starting point is 00:25:56 Anything could happen. I like that one. We all want this program to succeed, but when we see what's coming in next year and the schedule they've got, it's just one of the toughest seasons we've had since we've started doing this show. Listen, we'll be into it,
Starting point is 00:26:11 leading into the Toledo game. If we win, we'll be into it, in the old miss game. But remember, preseason games start early this year and they're against good teams in basketball. And most of our home games are in the first six weeks of the season. We only have one, think about this. We only have one home game in November. I didn't realize that. One. If this team isn't good, this fan base will check out in October. They'll just check out. They will. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Is that he on there? There he is. All right, well, let me take Jonathan and then I'll go to him. Jonathan, I got about a minute.
Starting point is 00:26:47 Okay, if you guys have time, I'd like to hear you talk about maybe drafting an all-UK teams in the NBA, like of current players, and talk about how good they are or how far you think they can go and playoff. Okay, we'll do that. I won't do it right now,
Starting point is 00:27:02 but I appreciate the call. We can do that at some point. Remember, tomorrow is unpopular opinion day. Yes, it is. Don't forget unpopular. All right, Matt Jones, the shooting instructor, is on the phone. Is he really? Okay. Matt Jones, the shooting instructor. How are you, sir?
Starting point is 00:27:17 First of all, great name. It's a wonderful name. It's a tough one here in Lexington sometimes, trying to differentiate a little bit. Yeah, does that annoy you? Do people like, ask, does that annoy you to have the same name? I would understand if it did.
Starting point is 00:27:32 I mean, we have the most common name on earth, I think, so I don't think either of us could be probably too mad about it. Okay, well, so you put that comment on Pope's thing. Looking back, did it express what you wanted to express? Yes, it did. I'm just saying in general it could be any college coach because I've had these discussions with others where to me I just think it's a little,
Starting point is 00:27:58 it's off to me where you'll spend a million dollars to get a role player who's eighth man on the roster, but programs won't invest 80 or 100K to pay a shooting coach to help develop shooting. You know, everyone's trying to recruit shooting all over the place and will pay dumb money to go get a shooter. What's like, why is developing shooting not also a piece of this? But I think his point was, I think his point was,
Starting point is 00:28:23 I have a choice between a number of players. I'm at Kentucky. I want to get guys who have good mechanics and then teach them other things rather than teach them mechanics. What's wrong? Why would that be a bad opinion? I don't think that's a terrible opinion. I just think how many of those guys, when you look at it,
Starting point is 00:28:41 you say, oh, he's got a beautiful shot with great mechanics. Like very, you know, if you have five guys on your roster at any place who can really shoot, you're doing well. Or it's like, why, why can't we try to develop two or three more? So you stand by your comment that what Pope said is what's wrong with college coaches. Yeah, I stand by it. I just think when you see the money that's being thrown around, it's like, you know, you'll pay crazy money. Why not spend just a little bit of money and bring someone and focus on that? Fair enough.
Starting point is 00:29:13 Well, I appreciate it. You and Rambo. Major point. Thank you for calling. We'll take a break. Barry Backs, KSR. T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J. He'll make them pay. Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones.
Starting point is 00:29:31 Welcome back to Kentucky Sports Radio. I was just sitting there talking with the guys about my new, you know, giving the sneakers away. I leave them around Lexington, Louisville, like on the sides of the road. See, that's kind of cool. You got a one-in, one-out, I have one in one, if I get a new pair of shoes, one of them's got to go. I'm out of space.
Starting point is 00:29:50 I have no more space. So there's a one in, one out policy. So when new ones come in, one of them's got to go. How do you decide which one to get rid of? The one I like the least. You know, I mean, I have a lot. I probably have like 250. So what are you laughing at?
Starting point is 00:30:10 500 shoes. Yeah, exactly. One of each. A lot of shoes. But then one comes out. I'll go, sometimes I'll give it to goodwill. But, you know, some of them are nice. Like, I don't want somebody just walks in goodwill.
Starting point is 00:30:21 So I want them for people who need them. So I've given way to middle people in Middlesboro, like the, and then sometimes I leave them on the street and they'll be gone five minutes later. Because I figure, like, somebody will pick them up that needs them. So they're going to come a day. So I put some little broads out the other day. So somebody's walking around. But I'll drive them to different parts of town. I want to leave them always in the same place.
Starting point is 00:30:43 So I left a pair of. a pair of LeBronze on Frankford Avenue and they were at Shannon then just gone five minutes later they're not going to sit out there all day you know somebody's going to pick them up so you'll be driving your car
Starting point is 00:30:58 look over and somebody's going to be walking down and your shoes that would make me very happy actually yeah that would be nice 859-2802280s I'm going to give you an issue currently being debated in Kentucky
Starting point is 00:31:13 and you're going to tell me what you would do, what you would vote if you were in the legislation. Corn is in session right now. Let's go. The first one is what the woman just said. Yeah. They have, they are taught, a bill, pass a bill that would say teachers cannot email or text students without doing it through an official system where the school system would be able to see all correspondence between. So they cannot email or text students.
Starting point is 00:31:45 the student, they can only send it through this thing. It's called like parent scope or whatever in order to contact the student. And that also includes for now social media as well, meaning no likes on Facebook, no following on Instagram without going through this system to where it could always be reviewed by the school board. Do you like it or do you not like it? I like it and I hope that it's like they extend it to the evenings and the weekends where maybe kids need. No, it's everything. It's for, it's until they graduate. I like it because a lot of times these kids are their home life is not good.
Starting point is 00:32:28 Maybe the teacher is the only person they trust and can depend on. Now that you're making an argument a different way. You got it backwards. You got it backwards. This bans it. You can't make any of these things without. Well, you can communicate with them, but you have to. go through this thing called parent scope or whatever that the parents would have access to and
Starting point is 00:32:49 the school would have access to. As long as they have access to it, in some capacity, I'm for you worry about on the parents having act. Like, what if it's what you said? Like, maybe their parents are abusing them. That's it. You know, abuse. Kids may be hungry. So are you for it or against it? I don't want to ban it. I'm for it. Now, the other side would say, though, teachers, I think they said 194 teachers have been suspended in the last three years for inappropriate
Starting point is 00:33:15 communication with students. 60% of it was like sexually inappropriate. In Kentucky? I think that's what the article. That main number but it was higher than I thought it was going to be. That's a lot. It's really high if it's just Kentucky. So what do you think? I support the bill moving
Starting point is 00:33:31 to the parent app. Just for the reason you just said. I feel like I see way too any stories on the internet, not really just in Kentucky, but everywhere of teachers crossing the line with students. I feel like that number's way higher. What about, what if they're saying, my parent is doing this? And they don't feel like they can say it because.
Starting point is 00:33:53 I do think you would need another avenue for that one caveat there of that. They need a way to be able to reach out. Do you think teachers should be able to like posts on Facebook and Instagram? No. Not even like, but not even like, hey, I got. into trancy. No. Okay.
Starting point is 00:34:11 So no communication without going through official things. Sorry to all the good teachers out there. There's many more good than bad, but there's too many weird bad ones. All right, Shannon, what do you vote? I would vote for this Parent Scope app. I think that it keeps both sides accountable. You have a way to go back and see all communication outside of school. If you have an issue with your parents at home, you could talk to the teacher in person.
Starting point is 00:34:33 So I don't think there's any reason. I'm not going to name any names. And are you okay? But I have a friend whose daughter gets Snapchats from her teacher, and that is just, and this is why I think you need that. That's inappropriate. Do you like that the school board has access to all communications? Is that where are you at all the collection of all that stuff? No.
Starting point is 00:34:56 I think, you know, if you're a teacher and you're communicating with a student, it needs to be documented. It needs to be where everybody can see what's going on. I'm generally on your side. I'm probably, I vote for it. I'm, there's a couple parts. I don't know that the liking of a comment on Facebook is necessarily like, because again, we don't, that's actually public that it's done that. But in general, I'm for it.
Starting point is 00:35:17 And so we're 3-1, this would pass our legislature, Ryan being the dissenter. Yeah, I don't want to ban it. I think too many kids need help sometimes. All right. Robotaxies. Austin, Texas just approved it. And it may get brought up soon in, in Louisville.
Starting point is 00:35:35 in the next couple years, potentially than Lexington, robotaxies, no driver. So instead of Uber, in Austin right now, they're doing for the entire summer, for $4, you can take a robo taxi anywhere, which of course is trying to get you hooked. Yeah, right. No driver. Would you, if you were on the Louisville City Council, would you vote yes to Robo Taxis? I support Robo Taxis. I have not ridden in one, but I've been in the Tesla.
Starting point is 00:36:05 someone's driving and I've seen the car like it literally knew someone was stepping off the sidewalk. Yeah, but I got one in Austin when we went for the football game and someone was stepping off the sidewalk and it showed it on the screen and the car stopped. So I trust them enough. Hell, they're better than actual drivers. You trust them more than people. Most people, yes. You don't worry about getting hacked. Drive down Winchester Road and you would want nothing but RoboGon. Let's say, but what about the hacking thing?
Starting point is 00:36:32 That's what worries me is that I agree with you in general, the. robotaxies are probably better drivers than the average person. But what happens if a foreign power hacks all of our cars and wrecks them into each other and you cannot stop it? That's what worries me. Now, granted, I don't know if that's like, I don't know the likelihood. I don't know the science. But that does worry me because at least there's a human that stops it.
Starting point is 00:36:56 If we don't have that, what happens if we get hacked? Add that to the list of problems that our world will be facing in the years to come. All right. So you're four. What about you, Ryan? I don't think I would do it, but I'm for it. I don't know if I'm there yet. She'd be for it, but you wouldn't get in it.
Starting point is 00:37:11 I wouldn't get in it. I'd be for it, but I don't think I'm not there yet. I'm going to step into it and trust. So you would take it too, Drew? Oh, yeah. I'm ready for it. Shannon, what about you? I know there are terrible human drivers that exist, Ryan Lemon.
Starting point is 00:37:26 But I don't know that I'm going to trust a robot. I saw a video a couple of weeks ago of a guy who was late for his flight at an airport because he was stuck in one of these cars. It was in a parking lot and continually just doing a circle and he could not get out of it. And that's the type of thing that I would worry about if I got into one of these robocars. So I'm going to know. So you wouldn't want to get in it, but would you make it legal? No.
Starting point is 00:37:50 No, I would not. No. I want human drivers. Okay, so I'm today a no, but open to one day being a yes. Here's the reason I'm no. If we continue to take jobs. from everyone. Yeah, that's another side of it too.
Starting point is 00:38:05 I mean, now we're not even going to have Uber drivers. Wait until we get, this is all a step to no truck drivers. Okay? Wait until there's no truck drivers. Think about what a huge part of our economy it will be not to have cross-country truck drivers. If all the drivers go away, that is a massive part of our economy gone. What are we going to do? like when all of our jobs are taken.
Starting point is 00:38:32 Like we'll just sit around twiddling our thumbs. I don't think America or the world has really contemplated what is going to happen when all of these jobs go away. It'll be easy to go, Joe Biden, Donald Trump, it. No, this is just, this is humanity. Like 15% of the workforce is just going to disappear. And what are we going to do? Are we just going to all just pay for the people that don't work? Or are we just going to let them start?
Starting point is 00:39:00 Like, I don't know what we're going to do because it's going to happen. Like, it's easy to talk about people who don't work now and go, they need to get off their butt and they need to dis. And I'm not even disagree with that. But soon there's going to be people who want to be off their butt, who want to be do something, and there will not be enough jobs. They are going to go away. And then what?
Starting point is 00:39:22 And so this is a step in that direction. So it worries me. I'm not saying I can't ever be for it. But you just take, just imagine if every. truck driver is put out of work. We had a ton of truck drivers listening right now. What if they're all put out of work? Those are good jobs that pay a lot of money and they're just going to be gone.
Starting point is 00:39:44 Do people think about that? We better. I agree 100% on that. That's almost here, the trucking. Yeah. And if you're a business, and I'm not saying I agree with this, but to not have a driver, I have a truck that can go all night. need to sleep.
Starting point is 00:40:01 It doesn't have to follow the sleeping rules. Don't have to pay the salary. Don't have to pay health care. I mean, of course they're all going to do it. That's why it's here. Of course they're all going to do it. And so, like, we have to make laws. We cannot just turn all this over to technology.
Starting point is 00:40:20 To put it a different way, I don't really trust a lot of people in leadership to make laws, but I trust them more than I trust these tech people who just want to save money. True. Right? Because it's going to be, I mean, this is coming and it's coming soon, and we are not ready for it. We are not thinking about these things. Because when all those jobs are gone, what do you do? All those families.
Starting point is 00:40:48 What do you do? Like, who's going to buy the stuff if they don't work to have the money? That's right. All the factories will be robotic. You have the pay these people a salary to not work. I mean, otherwise they're not going to survive. told generations for 30 years, the safest job you could go get was to go be a computer programmer. We told kids that forever.
Starting point is 00:41:10 Those people are all going out of work. All these people who went and got computer science degrees, except for the top, top ones, they're all going to lose their jobs. What are they going to do? Programmers. Yeah. And we told them that was the safest thing they could do. It's just scary. You just scared me to death.
Starting point is 00:41:30 but I'll tell you what will make you bet happier. You don't have to overpay for sunglasses. Well, tell me about it. Shadyrays. Shadyrays.com. Starting point is 00:44:08 His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reed. He has to guard Julius Randall.
Starting point is 00:44:29 And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nass would get that thing. That man, hell get to fly. Starting point is 00:46:31 three minutes I've ever heard. generally like your ideas on things. Tell me something to make it less depressing. I got nothing for you. When it comes to the future job market, I'm depressed. I'm depressed. The people that scare me the most in this world, like people, liberals will come up to me and be like,
Starting point is 00:46:49 man, are we going to make it through these Trump years? I'm not, I don't like Trump, but I'm not like scared for the future. Like, because we'll vote. I mean, he'll be gone at some point, right? I'm scared of the mus, the Zuckerbergs, the, because if you look at those people, something's wrong with all of them. Like they're not like normal human beings. And we're going to get to a point that they're more powerful than any government.
Starting point is 00:47:18 Because they'll control the whole world. It's going to be like eight people. You know, that's who worries me. The government will change. But what about these people we can't vote out of office? you know what I mean? They're here to stay. The people that Sam Altman that runs AI.
Starting point is 00:47:35 What if AI runs everything? We can't vote him out of office. No. There's no check on him whatsoever. That's the stuff. Honestly, Drew, that really worries me. What if I told you they're all building underground layers right now to? I'm sounding like a crazy person, but of course they are.
Starting point is 00:47:54 Because they, well. If only we had movies warning about it, this for decades. The good thing. is hopefully we'll all be dead by the time on that. Now, kids now? Let our kids worry about it. Well, I don't have kids yet. Let's go to Matt. What's up, Matt? Hey, what's up, guys? What's going on? I just finished meditating out here in my garden. And I just got a couple of things I ask you. MJ, Mr. Matt Jones, do you know the biblical meaning of your night?
Starting point is 00:48:31 name? Matthew. Well, I know it's biblical, but what's the meaning? Okay, gift from God. Actually, I did know that. I did know that. Thank you very much, sir. And one more thing.
Starting point is 00:48:48 I'm out here in my garden barefooted. Like, how can I get some of these Matt Jones shoes? What size are you, sir? I'm 12 and a half. I got something for you. I tell you what. Hang on, give Shad in your address and I'll send you so. Are you serious?
Starting point is 00:49:08 Yeah, why not? Yeah, oh my God. What kind of shoes you are? High top or a low top? Whatever you want to give me. I like low top, but I'll take high top. I don't care. The next low top that I'm going on, just hang on, give Shan your address, okay?
Starting point is 00:49:26 I got it on hold. Sounds like you got I want some colorful shoes. bright pink pair. I need something like your sponge bobs right now. I have some right now that I was about to let go
Starting point is 00:49:38 that I already know what I'm going to send him. Go to Danny. Go ahead, Danny. Hang on a minute. Let me get his address. All right, here we go. There you go.
Starting point is 00:49:47 All right, Danny. Go ahead, Danny. Hi. I am a teacher here in Kentucky and I am actually for the bill for a couple of quick reasons. One documentation. I have had kids email me
Starting point is 00:49:59 through my school email. about a sensitive situation at home or bullying. And, you know, we have a process in place for that to make sure those kids are taking care of safely and you need documentation. I don't want to do parents have access? Like if a kid, if a kid emails you to say, hey, I'm being abused by my parents, does the parent have access to potentially see that email and then punish the kid? The situation that I'm referring to, they emailed me from their school email.
Starting point is 00:50:29 It's my understanding that a parent could get into that account if they wanted to. But what about this new system? Will a parent have access to that? They will. But what I have found is that the parents, usually kids who are involved in those situations, their parents aren't really involved in the school and they're not very well connected, sadly. And I don't see that as a risk as much as I do a kid trying to reach out to me on Facebook. And I don't check Facebook often enough to know something's going on.
Starting point is 00:51:00 on, you know. No, I mean, I understand what you're saying. And also just privacy, too. I'd be worried, though, that a kid would say, I don't want to send a message to my teacher if my parents could see that I send it. Right, right. I think, though, it might be safer than social media. Yeah, no, I get it.
Starting point is 00:51:21 Privacy, I don't, I tell all of my students from day one, neither you nor your families can reach me via social media. It's not a reliable source of communication. also I want some privacy for my family. I don't add anyone on Facebook unless I trust them like with my kid or in my house, you know. So I might have to let you go. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:51:40 I might have to go to the show's about to end. But I appreciate the call. And yeah. But I mean that bill, I think it's passed. I actually think it's going into effect. Sensitive topic. Had some teachers write me say that part of the problem is it's no tolerance. Like one message and you're fired.
Starting point is 00:51:57 It feels a little harsh. Yeah. But it's a little much, but I agree that something should be in place. Yeah. Well, these are the kind of decisions. Legislatures like the one you're now involved in, Ryan, have to make. That's why we elect them to make these tough decisions. Yes, and why I elected you to make the decision as well.
