This linebacker walks up to me, he goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue with 42.
A rep.
My mama want you to wave at her.
What?
Hey, Miss Parker.

Kentucky Sports Radio, hour number two here at our good friends on Ali Shebaway Assured Partners.
It is a beautiful day.
Actually, not crazy hot yet, as long as you stay out of the sun.
We got some food here from Drake's.
I'm going to give away rents tickets.
But right now, join me, Darius Miller, Nash.
champion for the University of Kentucky. State champion, national champion. Everything you could want
right here as a Kentucky basketball player. Darius, thank you very much for joining us.
I appreciate you. Put that mic down so people can hear you there. Gotcha, got you. I appreciate
y'all having me. Is that better? That's better, yes. So Darius, first of all, when I think of like,
from the state of Kentucky, how you would want a basketball career to go,
Ryan, I'm not sure you could have a better one than this, right? I mean, if you look at your high
school career, your college career, playing the NBA. How blessed are you from what, from what,
from when you were growing up in Mason County to now?
Extremely blessed, man, extremely blessed. And I've been fortunate to play on some great teams,
you know, play for some great coaches. I've ended up in some great situations, you know,
and I don't take that for granted. So, like, I think the word that you use blessed is the perfect
word, man. It's been an incredible run, amazing opportunity. And I embrace every
second of it. Let's go through your career here a little bit. You decide to come to college. A lot of people
forget this for Billy Gillespie. You were there at the Billy Clyde era for one year. Talk to me
about when you made that decision. What was the Billy Clyde year like? My man, Billy G. It was
interesting. It was interesting. When I made the decision, I think I would have done it again,
you know, going back, I wouldn't have made a different choice.
But, you know, it was the team that kind of brought me in.
Patrick Patterson, Jody Meeks, Ramon Harris, Perry Stevenson, all great character guys.
They really, you know, wrapped their arms around me every visit I came, made me feel comfortable.
I got a chance to play with them a little bit, you know, just an open gym when I came up.
I loved the chemistry that we had, you know, and they invited me in, you know, and made me a part of the team,
which ultimately led to me committing to the University of Kentucky.
and then I got there, Billy G.
So let me ask you a couple of questions.
First of all, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Let's start with this, because I'm asking you some of the goofy questions.
But let's start with the one thing.
There was a positive side to Billy G.
That a lot of people gets washed over because of everything.
Talk about that for a minute, the positive of Billy G.
Yeah, for sure.
There was.
There was.
And he was a good ex-and-old guy.
Was he?
Yes, he really was.
He knew the game of basketball.
His delivery was off a little time.
the time, you know, which is important when you're dealing with, you know, 17 and 18-year-old boys.
So it's like.
So you were there.
Is it true that John Wall came for a visit?
There's always some story.
What was the story about John Wall's visit that, like, Billy told him to stop talking or something on his visit?
Do you know, is that true?
That probably happened to more than just John Wall.
Okay.
Yeah, that was a constant thing that played throughout.
Yeah, for sure.
All right.
Did our friend Josh Harrelson get locked in the bathroom?
stall? He got sent to the bathroom. They didn't lock it. Yeah, my boy got sent to the bathroom.
Was he forced to come home from the Vandy game by himself? He wasn't by himself.
But he wasn't with the team. But he wasn't with the team. He has a good way delivering all this.
Yeah, that's right. You're saying it in the nicest way possible. Did you ever have to do the drills?
This was the year before you. I don't know if it continued your year where he would just make you all dive on the
ground time and time talk about that uh yeah yeah we a bunch of different drills you know uh to
make us more physical you know a lot of charged drills oh like taking charge drills yeah yeah yeah
things you would think gladiators would do different stuff like that for sure all right so then
john caliperi shows up most of the team well pretty much all the team that was not
not seniors were kind of shake their hand and say, hey, find other homes, except you and Patrick.
Talk to me about when you met Cal and then what changed was with Cal.
A lot changed.
I'm not going to lie.
A lot changed.
And it happened so quick.
But, you know, just different system, different personality, different batch of talent.
You know what I mean?
It was a lot of adjustments to be made.
But the guys that returned, we felt like that was the best situation for us.
You know, that was the best situation for us to get better.
And that's really what led to us stand.
Tell me the first time you see John Wall and DeMarcus cousins play basketball.
What's your reaction?
Oh, my God.
I had already knew John beforehand.
I seen him a lot at different camps, ABCD camp, just different events like that.
But DeMarcus was a different animal, man.
He was coming in.
He was so skilled at his size.
And they were so hungry, man.
and they were so hungry.
They wanted to win a championship.
You know, they wanted to be pros.
They wanted to be Hall of Famers.
You know what I mean?
And that was me, honestly, that was my first time really being exposed to that mentality.
And it was a different batch of talent that was coming in.
And what you could tell, like it's like this.
All right.
So I have always made the argument that since I've been doing this, which was like 2005,
there's nothing like the feeling that was around the University of Kentucky program that year.
Just in terms of like just rock.
star LeBron's at the game.
Jay Z's at the game.
Like all this stuff is happening.
You were in it.
Did you feel that?
Yeah, it was amazing, man.
It was amazing.
No, seriously.
I agree with you.
That year was different than any other year.
Just the amount of people we were exposed to, the type of people we were exposed to, like
you said, that was coming to the game.
The amount of eyes that were on us.
I mean, it completely changed overnight when Cal and those guys got here.
I mean, the pressure.
was different. It was a lot that went into that change, and we definitely felt it every single day.
Give me your best to Marcus Cousin's story.
That you can tell. Yeah, that you can tell.
You know, one of my favorites was his approach to the media before we played that UNC game.
Okay.
They had a really, really, really good team, you know, and they came in. It was a lot of talk of us and them.
And with him being a younger guy and, you know, going up and talk to the media, I thought it would be a different approach.
But he was very aggressive with the way that he talked.
He'd call Alan Cutler the mustache guy.
I'm sure some of y'all remember.
He put me in a headlock once.
So I can't, I can't say it.
Remember when you played Cornell and he said this ain't no spelling bee?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
But we fed off of that, though.
You know, that gave us a sense of confidence, too, because we did have a young team.
You know, so we all fed off of his energy and, you know, the approach that he had to the game because he was extremely competitive.
So they were kind of like, hey, you guys are the underdog, you know, and he was like, no.
When you watch the Celtics, do you boo because of Joe Missoula beating you guys in the elite eight?
I probably will now.
Drew Holiday.
I love Drew Holiday.
Oh, yeah, he played with him in New Orleans.
Yeah, yeah.
So I couldn't boo, but now that he's gone, I definitely will.
All right, let's go to 2011.
You got Brandon Knight.
I think one of the most underrated players to play ever play here. Do you agree?
Definitely.
Oh, my gosh.
He was so talented.
He worked so hard.
And he had some really big moments, man.
He had some really big moments.
He stepped up big, made a lot of great plays for us and pushed us pretty far into tournament.
George throws that ball off Solinger's chest.
Did you know you were going to win at that moment right there?
Yeah, we felt pretty confident.
And, you know, we had pulled out a lot of tough games.
So I think by that time, our mentality was we can win any game.
similar to like how the Pacers were in the playoffs this year.
I think that, I think you're right.
All right, you got 2012, you know, obviously last national championship.
When you look back at that year, obviously Anthony Davis was a freak.
Maybe the best season in UK basketball history, probably was the best season in UK basketball history.
But Michael Kid Gilchrist was on the team.
There's the famous story that he asked to sit out in the SEC tournament so that you could start in the final game because he wanted you to, you know, what was that year like?
It seemed like a special group.
uh definitely man and um i think the thing that stood out the most was just how quick we clicked
you know what i mean with those other groups it took a little time for us to us to each other
a lot of big names coming in but um my senior year that team jailed really really fast and i think
you know with terence jones coming back deron coming back we had a little bit more guys that
come back that had some experience down the line in the tournament uh we were able to you know
kind of facilitate that a little bit better than in the past but uh uh
Yeah, it just happened so fast
And everybody was just totally bawled in
To win in the championship
You know, this guy right here, Duran's like his favorite player
No, Darius is my favorite player
He's standing right here
The Garans close second
Y'all had fun that 2012 season
earlier in the year when the Thunder were there
Yeah, so the Thunder come to town
I want to ask you if this story's true
We've told it many years, so I hope it is
That you all played the Thunder
The Thunder had
Who all was here?
Was it Durant?
Durant was here
Duran was here?
Hardin?
Yes.
James was here.
Russell?
Russ was here.
So you all played Hardin, Westbrook and Duran.
I'm told first pickup game, it's UK versus them.
You guys win, and then Marcus Teague says a line, we is Kentucky, we give no blanks.
And then they played you the next game and like you didn't score.
Is that story true?
Yeah, yeah.
I wanted to make sure that second part was going to because I don't want to get any trouble, you know.
I want to start no problems with anybody.
out of you but yeah no we we we came out and like I said those those guys too they were extremely hungry
you know what I mean we were trying to see where we were those guys were just they showed up
half their shoes were in they wasn't really locked in but we were trying to go at them that first
game and that that woke them up though they played and then they played all right final four you get
to the nat you know you're playing Louisville you know what that game means that's the most nervous
dearest I've ever been for a basketball game and I had not one thing to do with whatever the
result would be you probably understood how important that game was more than anyone that played in it
what were your thoughts leading into it uh we can't lose honestly we i didn't want to be you know on the
team that lost to louisville in the final four i just i didn't i didn't to be honest you know what
i mean and i think the guys understood that too how much it would mean to the city of lexton all of
us uh that's come through here love lexington love the people in kentucky how you embrace us you know
I mean, it means a lot to us.
You know what I mean?
So we wanted to do that for Lexington, too, for sure.
You beat Kansas in the championship.
Drew and I were on the floor that night.
It's still one of the most special, at least from a fan,
probably the most special night that I've had.
What was it like?
I mean, not many people get to experience winning championship.
Only eight groups have done it.
Excuse me.
Here, eight groups have done it.
What was it like for you?
Tough.
It was difficult, honestly.
Amazing, though.
it's one of the best moments I've ever had on the basketball court for sure, probably the best.
And just to do it with the guys that we did it with, like I said, we jailed instantly as soon as they got on campus.
We put a lot of work into it, so it was a lot of fun.
John Caliperi, you hear about a year ago a little bit longer, going to Arkansas.
What's your first reaction?
Oh, man, I was hurt.
I was hurt.
I'm not going to lie.
I mean, I understood it.
You know what I mean?
I understood it.
Why did you, we say you understand it, how understood it?
How did you understand it?
You know, because everything comes to an end.
You know what I mean?
He wasn't going to be here forever, and I totally understand that,
but I have a lot of love for a cap.
And I understand the program wanted to go in a different direction and start over,
you know what I mean?
And I think the hire that they chose was a great hire.
What about Mark Pope?
I love Coach Pope.
I do.
I love his approach to the game.
I think he's a genius when it comes to basketball.
that you can see it play out. There's been plenty of times.
Talk about that.
Because you know it having played.
What makes Mark such a good, as you say, genius coaching basketball?
I think you can tell.
There's been plenty of times, you know, in the first half, where we've seen, we were watching
a game, and it looked like we were struggling a bit, and they went in the halftime and came out
and figured it out.
You know, that's a big part to coaching and making adjustments.
And I think he does a great job of that.
And then me being able to see a few practices and his approach to the game, he really
takes it serious and treats it like a side.
What are the practices like?
You've been now in three, I mean, well, obviously been a ton in the NBA,
but just think about Billy Gillespie, John Calgary, Mark Pope.
Tell me the difference between those three types of practices.
I think a lot of fans would be interesting because they don't get to see that.
Yeah, starting with Billy G., it's he was more of an old-school guy, you know.
Just we're going to outwork all other teams.
We're going to be in the best shape.
We're going to be the strongest, the fact, like that was his mentality and approach.
And like I said, he has some good exes and those to put with that.
wanted us to feel like we're in better shape than everybody and the practices reflected that um you know
with coach cow uh very competitive practices very competitive we had the talent to do so so us going against
each other was a lot of times more difficult than the game we was going to play at the end of the week so
setting up the practices for everything to be extremely competitive pushing each other and uh kind of an iron
sharpens iron mentality and then uh with coach pope i feel like it's really technical and you know
the games changed a lot since back in the day. Now you have analytics. You have a lot of different
things that go into the game. So I can just tell and see his approaches. Like I said, he treats it
like a science. Everything is very intentional. I've explained like Cal would teach you guys to make
your own decisions in some ways, right? He would put you in a spot and say, okay, here, you could do
this, this or this and read it, right? Pope has a more, we do this, we do this, you can do this or this,
but there is a science to it. Do you agree with that?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure.
There was a lot of freedom inside of Cal's system, you know,
and that allowed you to see some of the greatness of John Wall
and, you know, Eric Bledso, those guys, Jamal, just the different guys
that could express themselves on the court.
And, you know, Coach Pope, like you said, he said,
everything is down to the minor detail.
But it puts you in a good position also, you know,
to showcase your game inside of this structured environment.
You know what I mean?
Two different approaches, but I would enjoy playing from both.
Can we do one more segment?
All right, we're going to take it.
All right, we're going to take a break.
We'll be right back here to Shured Partners.
This is Darius Miller and KSR.

we are in possession of the
thing, and we're still chasing
it, and we don't know when we've done enough.
Because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and loss.
Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on Earth,

If you're watching the latest season of the Real Housewives of Atlanta, you already know there's a lot to break down.
Gorsha accusing Kelly of sleeping with a merry man.
They holding Kay Michelle back from fighting Drew.
Pinky has financial issues.
I like the bougie style of Housewives show.
I think it looks like to be interesting.
On the podcast, Reality with the King, I, Carlos King, recap.

Part of the Kentucky Office Highway Safety, KSR, Safe Summer Driving Tour. I'm going to give
these dudes a couple questions here, but first let me ask you, best player you played with,
college or NBA. Who is the dude that you go? That's the most talented teammate.
I know that's a tough question, but.
Man, I'd have to say either Anthony Davis or Shay.
She that's right, I forgot you.
Is Anthony Davis or Shea?
How about Shea's rise?
Did you see it coming?
No, no, I don't think if I saw it coming like this.
I knew he was going to be good for sure.
And me getting a taste of his work ethic in Oklahoma, he worked so hard.
I knew he was going to be, you know, eventually he was going to be great.
And he already was when I was there, man.
He was doing incredible things when I was in Oklahoma.
But just the way that he worked in his mentality,
how he approached the game was totally different.
But him, man, John, John Wall was crazy.
DeMarcus was crazy.
Drew Holiday was really good.
I've played with some great players, man.
I've been fortunate.
Right.
I think there's like three dudes who have won a state title in Kentucky
and then win a national title at U.K.
I think it's like Cliff Hagan, Anthony Epson, U.
I think that might be it.
But I've heard other guys talk about their greatest win
was the high school win, not necessarily their national
Like Steve Spurger said, his greatest win in his life was when he won a state baseball title.
How do you feel about it?
And how does that Mason County State Championship rank in your mind?
I totally get that.
I totally get that because those are the guys you grew up with.
You know what I mean?
I played with those guys since I was second, third grade.
And to be able to work and see the growth and the development through the team, you know what I mean?
And then our last game we win a championship, that's a special feeling.
so I can totally understand that sentiment for sure.
Bloomington, Indiana.
It's the worst place on the earth.
You actually caught the worst of it.
You did.
When they stormed the court on their stupid Super Bowl that they don't shut up about,
you actually, it was scary.
I saw my own eyes.
You were caught underneath some of the fans that stormed the court, all those bums.
What was that like on a serious nobody?
Is that kind of terrifying?
Were you looking for someone to help you?
We were terrified for you.
We were watching you at that moment.
We were in the arena, and I was working.
worried about you.
Man, I was more so pissed off.
I'm not going to lie to me.
I was because we just lost to Indiana.
That was horrible in itself.
And then, you know, being surrounded by, you know, their celebrations.
How bad was the crowd that day?
I mean, that may be the wildest crowd I've ever been in.
I don't know what you think.
That was a crazy atmosphere for sure.
They were jacked up.
They were ready for us, definitely.
It was a crazy game.
You were almost the example of a player getting trampled.
That's about as close as we've seen one.
I mean, were you not terrified a little bit?
Yeah, yeah, the guys, I mean, some guys came in and helped me up pretty quick, you know what I mean?
But yeah, it was wild, man.
I've never experienced anything else like.
You ever come close to punch in one of those stupid Indiana?
I was really close.
I did.
I did.
I didn't really close.
Did your mom got assaulted or something in the crowd that day?
Your mom or dad?
Somebody got it.
They didn't get assaulted, but it was a bit physical getting out of there for sure.
That was wild.
That's the most insane college environment I've ever seen.
That includes the years of Kentucky.
and a Duke. I've never seen one like it was that game.
You needed to Marcus on that team.
It would have been any problems.
TBT is coming. It was a ton of excitement last year.
Are you excited about this year's?
Oh, definitely, definitely.
And, you know, the group that's managing it,
they're making it better and better every year.
Super excited for the group that's coming out this year.
I think they have a really talented team and a chance to win it.
For sure.
You should get out there with them, right?
You can still show them a thing or two, can't you?
No, man.
First question he got from Patty when he walked up.
You're going to play for TBT?
You know what it's just, you know, you get to point.
You're just like, I just don't have what I had before.
I got to.
I don't even want it that bad anymore.
You know what I mean? I'm not going to lie to you.
I don't.
I enjoy watching my kids play.
You know, they're competing now.
I get to yell from the sideline and have fun with that.
So maybe coaching or something.
I don't think a lot of people realize this.
You have a gym here in Lexington that you have, that you're part of.
And tell people about that.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
If anybody's familiar with the sports center, you know, out by the mall, you know,
across from the movie theater, me and a group of partners, we just, you know, took over that
space and looking to do some amazing things with basketball, super excited about it.
We feel like we can have a huge impact with the community and get back to the youth, you know what I mean?
Just thinking about the guys, we, first of all, excuse me, we're changing the name to the alumni center.
You know what I mean?
And just I was going into a story about, you know, Tony Delk and Scott Packer.
those guys working with me and helping me to develop my game.
So similar mentality, you know, with how I'm approaching this gym
and trying to get back to the youth, get a lot of the alumni to come back
and, you know, pour into the youth and, you know, touch the community a little bit.
So we're excited.
They're doing great things with that.
So now call the Alumni Center, right?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
All right.
Some questions from the fans here.
One person writes, Darius had one of the nastiest dunks in UK history.
Does he remember throwing down on that guy against Ole Miss?
Oh, yeah, definitely.
For sure, for sure, I remember it.
Yeah, me and Cal just got to an argument right before that, you know,
so he gassed me up a little bit and it resulted in that.
Like, you could argue with Cal.
He was all right with it.
Oh, he loved it.
Yeah, I think he did.
He ate it up.
But it got us going, you know what I mean?
It got us going.
And we went out and took it out on the opposing team, so it worked out for all of it.
Kentucky.
Didn't you yell at Cal right after that dunk?
I thought you did something right after the dunk to the bench, too, that was kind of out of character for you.
I wasn't worried about defense or anything.
I just had to express myself to Coach Cowan.
Express yourself.
One person writes, Kentucky versus Arkansas.
Who's Darius rooting for?
I'm rooting for Kentucky.
I love Cal.
I wish Cal all of the success in the world.
I do.
But I'm a Kentucky boy, man.
There you go.
That's the answer.
I go up in Kentucky.
I bleed blue.
I'm a Kentucky.
One person writes,
asking what his first thought of you and Drew and KSR were.
Didn't he come up kind of as you did?
We kind of were on the same thing.
Yeah, yeah, that's true.
That's true.
Did you all see us as like being annoying?
You can say it if you did.
No, not really, no, not at all.
Not at all.
Actually, that group where you were there in 2010 is probably the group that we kind of vibed with the most.
Yeah, yeah.
No, I feel like we had a good relationship.
Yeah, we did.
Darius, thank you very much.
Everybody give me a round with applause, Darius Miller.
UK legend.
Whenever I do top players, all that,
UK history. People get angry if we don't put you on it just so you know. We'll take a break and be right back.
This is KSR. Welcome back, Tuggie Sports Radio, here at Assured Partners. The Shured Partners is the
broker for personal life insurance, commercial life insurance, employee benefits, good benefits,
keep good people and local office right here. Assured partners, Hayes Featherston, and the guys
bring us out here. It's been awesome. The food from breaks, there's still some available,
not much, but a little bit. And then I'm giving away Reds tickets here at the end.
It's part of the Kentucky Office of Highway Safety, KSR Safe Summer Driving Tour.
How good was Darius Miller?
I told him after it was over.
Hey, man, we talk sometimes about who are former players.
You can get involved in media.
If he wanted to, he can do this.
And I have a high standard.
He and Willie are probably the only two players in the last 15 years that I would say that about.
But he, I think Ryan could do it if he wanted to.
You know, he's so humble.
You know, the guy has every reason to be.
Well, he is a superstar.
We made a Mount Rushmore of Kentucky kids and played high school basketball.
He may be on it for what he's done.
So I love the guy.
He got a rare second segment on the show.
A lot of times.
Yeah, I don't do that.
So he just played it's rainy men.
Who picked that song?
That's me.
I like when the weather girls comes on occasionally.
The hallelujahs, I think, hit it the perfect time.
I can't help but snap.
You know, I don't, it's not really my cup of tea.
I'm happily married.
You don't really want men to write.
No, I don't really need to be rained on by men.
But I do love the song.
Bill Nacks.
A chance for that to happen.
I just like the beginning.
Like, hi.
You know, it's just straight.
You like when it says hi?
Yeah, just a great intro, great song, but doesn't really fit my lifestyle.
I'm not opposed.
If you're into that lifestyle, whatever.
That's your lifestyle.
It's not really what I do.
All right.
I mean, listen.
It's a good song.
I just did Country Boy Kids Survive.
You all did its raining men and what was yours?
Man, I feel like a woman.
I just, who's the liberal here?
Well, that's the opposite.
A59-2-80-287.
I don't know if people know this before I go to the phones.
Did you know that Marge Simpson?
died.
No.
Spoiler alert.
I hope everybody's...
What?
Forgot to have an extra big coffin.
In the season finale of the Simpsons,
apparently they killed off Marge Simpson.
Now, they've left it open.
I'm sure they're not going to have her gone forever,
but the end is like,
Marge Simpson is dead,
and it's the cliffhanger for the next season.
Did Marge Simpson really die?
Can you believe that after 36 years of being the same age,
she would be dead?
No, she age gracefully.
But, you know, they can.
killed Kenny in every episode of South Park and he survived somehow the next episode. Yeah, but that's their
whole gimmick. Yeah. I mean, what if Marge Simpson is dead? I feel like she's not getting enough play.
I mean, we talk about when people die. I feel like Marge Simpson deserves her, if she's going to be dead.
Homer's going to be a widow now. I know, but Homer could be dating now.
Oh, Homer on Tinder. Did you imagine that?
Now he wants to what. I actually like that. Ace Bailey has yet to rule.
report to Utah, and Utah says they have not talked to him since they drafted him. Seems like it's
going well.
Wow.
Outside of my guy Yang Hansen that was in the crowd and will now be Andrew Carr's summer league
teammate.
That's right.
The Ace Bailey is my favorite thing.
I love that he said, Utah, I'm not going.
Don't pick me.
And Danny Ains said, you know what?
I don't care.
I'm picking you anyway because we're not going to let you run this show.
They had a press conference scheduled today to introduce the rookies to the media.
Walter Clayton Jr., who also was picked, he's there.
Ace Bailey, not there.
He says, basically, they talk to him and he says,
I've just been doing some things.
Been doing some things.
Not interviews.
They've been doing some things.
You've been picking out awful suits.
Apparently they've called him and he doesn't pick up.
Utah Jazz.
Sorry, we'll sit down in the voice mail.
How is this going to work out, though?
How are they going to co-exam?
I think this is going to be, this is interesting.
The last person to do this, I think was Steve Francis.
You remember he got picked by Vancouver.
and he basically forced them to trade him to Houston.
Danny Ains just said, I ain't trading him.
If he wants to do something else, we'll still have his rights.
Does he not realize he's tanking his own brand?
Like other teams aren't going to want to deal with this.
Fans aren't going to love him.
As we were driving home from the place in Shepherdsville where we did the KS Bar stuff,
I was listening to Jeff Teague's podcast,
which, by the way, I highly recommend unless you have children around
and then do not listen to even one second of it.
But Jeff Teague is entertaining, and they were going through the draft.
And Jeff Teague's point was, Ryan, dude, you're playing basketball.
Jeff Teague was like, you're already a little shaky as a character.
Go to Utah.
There ain't going to be anything for you to do.
It'll keep you from getting in trouble.
It'll make sure you play basketball.
And he said, they can't get any.
He was interesting.
He was like, they cannot get any superstars.
So if you're just decent, they'll max you out because they're not going to be able to sign any free agents.
He's like, I'd rather go to Utah than almost anywhere.
You're a celebrity there.
distractions and it keeps you from you can get a superstar contract even if you're not great i thought
it was a good case i i wonder you know even if they come to terms that he joins the team how can
you go in that locker room whenever in that locker room heard you say i don't want to play here
i don't want to play with these guys they're going to go in the locker room and meet their teammates
not off to a good start no i think i think it's fair to say it seems to have a high opinion
of himself or a guy who couldn't even take his team to the ncdblera tournament that's right and then
finally after our conversation yesterday i have been
been inundated with people telling me they've had hand, foot, mouth disease.
Wow.
You've had it.
I literally, now, granted, I understand not having kids that I didn't, I cannot believe how many
people have had hand, foot, and mouth.
I'm not going to ask y'all to all raise your hands.
I don't want to put you on the spot.
He volunteered for everybody.
But I am amazed at the prevalence of hand foot mouth disease, and everybody says, was it awful?
Everybody says it is absolutely awful.
So now I went from kind of making fun of Connor Joe to Drew.
I kind of feel bad for Connor Joe in his hand, feet, mouth.
You need to be donated into some Connor Joe causes here, get him feeling better.
I had heard of it.
I still think it was ridiculous.
They put it on that graphic with the Reds.
And my two friends that have had it, like everyone else, just it was the absolute worst.
And as we've heard, getting it through daycare seems to be the way it gets to you.
I did have somebody say to me, Matt, be careful because oftentimes one of the ways it gets past is at petting zoos.
But that's the good thing because we were around animals yesterday, but I don't
pet him. Right. So that's exactly, so that's partially why.
Yeah, but you were shaking hands with people who were petting them.
Good point, but hopefully, but I'm sure there, they keep them all clean, and so I'm not worried
about it. Well, you said it yesterday. Now, every time we hear that name, Connor, Joe,
what's the first thing we're going to think of? Oh, I'll think of it. When he comes up,
I will call him hand, foot, and mouth. I can't help.
You should make a sign and hold up behind a hold plate. Well, he should, he was the most anonymous
player on the team, so he actually should use it. No, he's not now. You're saying it's good for his brand.
Now we know who he is.
That's true.
It's very, like, if you get, like, syphilis, I don't know if you want to be the syphilis guy.
It's better be a syphilist guy than a nobody.
Well, I kind of agree with you.
It's the same theory with the motivated Mark Stoops.
You might as well lean into it.
That's right.
You know.
It hadn't infected Shannon too bad.
If you were going to learn anything from our president, he does that.
Like, he gets arrested, has a mugshot, and then he sells it on T-shirts, and everybody gets over it.
Like, I think that that's part of what you do.
Who's up next?
Mark.
Mark, go ahead, Mark.
Hey, guys.
Yeah, I'm so excited to hear Darius on there.
I love that guy.
I think he's definitely one of my favorite all-time
UK basketball players.
We were neighbors for a short time a little while back.
But I did want to add one thing to what Ryan said.
Ryan said he believed that he's one of maybe three players
that won a state title as well as National Championship.
I think you can add to that that.
I believe he's the only one who did those as well as one in Kentucky, Mr. Basketball.
So when you talk about Mount Rushmore with six players,
he's definitely got to be on it.
He might even be the one if there's one Mount Rushmore with one player on it.
I don't think he might.
That's interesting.
I didn't realize that.
So, yeah, so Darius, did you know that?
Darius, that you're the only player to win a state championship,
a national championship of Kentucky, and be Mr. Basketball ever?
Did you know it?
All right, so give him a round of applause.
There he is.
He's to him.
One of one.
He didn't even know that.
So, sir, I hope you're telling me the truth.
I appreciate the call.
It's going to ruin Derry's his day.
If you are lying, then that's going to be very, very mean.
It's kind of like the stat I said about Anthony Davis.
The win a college title, be national player of the year, win an NBA title, win an Olympic gold medal.
It's like Bill Walton, Magic Johnson, and him.
Like, it's only like three people that have done it over the years.
You know, to hear him talk to his first year with Billy,
he had him, Patrick Patterson, and Jody Meeks.
That team didn't make the tournament.
That tells you right there that something was wrong.
But he also, I did think it was good that he said that, you know,
it's been many years.
We can say Billy had some positives to him.
He was not, he was a troubled guy, but he wasn't drew all bad.
Like most people in the world, they're not all bad, not all good.
He had some positives.
And guys, I think, know that.
Yeah, we've heard other players there on those teams speak highly of them.
to. I mean, they committed to play for the guy. No, it didn't go perfectly, but they had good
moments. I loved when Darius was on here, how delicate he was handling the questions. Like,
when you said, did they lock Josh in the bathroom? It's like, well, Josh was in the bathroom.
They didn't physically lock it. He was kind of doing the- He gently confirmed a lot of what we had
heard. He was kind of doing, he was being nice about it. Tell me about Stock to Mortgage.
Stock to Mortgage, I referred them to a buyer yesterday. I'm on meet with him this afternoon
because they're looking at, start to go out and look for some investment properties. So,
The stock of mortgage is not going to do your personal mortgage.
They can do investment properties.
They can do cash out refinance.
Anything you want to do, they'll hold your hand through the entire process, make it as easy as possible.
They can be a hassle, the mortgage process.
So if you can trust them, you can believe in them.
Stockton, mortgage, give them a call or go online at Stockton.com, M&LS, 8259, Equal Housing Lender.
When we come back, we'll do a final segment here.
Get ready for the weekend.

And we're still chasing it.
And we don't know when we've done enough.
Because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and losses.
Steve Burns, Dustin Ross.
Because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth.

Because that's two different intentions, bro.
Absolutely.

What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue with 42.
Hey, rec, my mama want you to wave at her.
What?
Hey, Miss Parker.

If you're watching the latest season of the Real Housewives of Atlanta,
you already know, there's a lot to break down.
Georgia accusing Kelly of sleeping with a married man.
They holding Kay Michelle back from fighting Drew.
Pinky has financial issues.
I like the bougie style of Housewives show.
I think it looks like it's going to be interesting.
On the podcast, Reality with the King, I, Carlos King,

Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio here.
I have to admit, I don't totally understand.
This is supposed to be something that is the exact opposite of you.
You would say these things.
Yeah.
But I don't think you understood the game.
The game was what songs are least like you.
I could see you singing this song.
Oh, I thought you, yeah, he says, I'm a hell of a man.
I don't think I am a hell of a man.
That's not true.
Good looking.
I don't think I am good looking.
You're saying you're humble is what you're saying.
He's saying he's saying that he's perfect.
He's saying he's being self-deprecated.
think you aren't perfect.
Not at all.
So you think you are humble?
Humble and not perfect and not handsome.
Yes.
I agree with all those things.
That makes me sad.
You're handsome.
I think you don't believe you're handsome.
I am not.
And I don't think you believe you're perfect.
I have definitely not.
But I also wouldn't say you're humble.
You have very high, like, belief in yourself.
I mean, look at me.
Do I look like I got a high belief in myself?
I got a hole in my shoe for crying out loud.
Yeah, you do.
Fair enough.
You can see his sock through his top of his shoe.
He can.
Yeah, you can.
Have you thought about replacing those?
First of all, you have little beefy.
I got a little baby feet.
You can't fit into Matt shoes.
How?
What size do you wear?
Probably eight and a half or a nine.
Well, clearly you don't wear eight and a half because your toes sticking through the top of it.
Maybe you should go out of the size.
That's right.
So that's why this song is perfect for the anti-Ryan song.
You know what?
It is perfect.
You're perfect.
I take it back.
I take it back.
859-2-80-22-87.
You are so ridiculous.
All right, so let's do our draft kings pick of the week.
I'll just pick the game.
I'm giving tickets away, too, at the end of the show.
Padres and Reds tonight, who's pitching for the Reds?
They're going to pitch Nick Martinez, so they're vulnerable tonight against Dylan Cease,
who I don't know?
These two teams are going for the wild card in Cincinnati.
Who you got?
Padres by four.
By four?
Yeah.
Okay.
All right.
Go to draft Kings.
Bet five with $150.
Pick them by four.
You can probably get a good odds on that.
What about you?
Padres by six.
Six.
I bet you're going to get even better odds on that.
All right.
We know the Reds can't have it too good and they've been hot.
Just played the Yankees well.
They got to come down.
I say Padres by one.
Yeah.
So they pitch.
They get Abbott and Lidolo in game two and three.
So I think those are better.
This is the one to lose, I would think.
So I actually will take.
Padres by sweep by two.
I think this is just not their night.
The Padres are favorite, so I think that's probably what you are going on.
I mentioned one thing.
The legends have a dude who have hit a home run in eight straight games.
It's like the Atlanta League record.
Really?
Yeah, Dylan Rock has a home run now in eight straight games.
Do they play home this weekend?
No, they're out of town this weekend.
Eight straight games.
That is a great game.
If you get a chance, if you haven't seen it, everyone is mocking on the internet.
You know, this weekend is the big Jeff Bezos.
wedding, considered to be arguably the most expensive wedding outside of the royal wedding in the
history of humankind. They basically shut down the city of Venice for this wedding. Stopped all
boats into the city, have rented a ton of planes in Italy to keep people. So maybe the most
expensive wedding ever. Apparently it's like the ceremony's crazy, all this stuff. But the internet
is making fun of, have you seen their invitations? No. No. I didn't get one.
Pull it up on your phone at some point.
Look up at Jeff Bezos.
For a wedding that is the most expensive wedding at all time,
it looks like they made it on Microsoft Paint.
It's literally, it's the kind of invitation I would give you to say,
hey, we're having a special at KS Bar on Saturday during the game.
Of all the things they put money into,
the internet is like these are the worst invitations ever.
So women especially, I think you're going to like think it's absurd.
Look, she's laughing right here.
Aren't they awful?
That's an awful invitation for a wedding.
where they're spending that there it is right there he's got some
I like on there it says please no gifts you wasted your ink I'm not bringing you a gift
Jeff Bezos you don't need a gift so will the wedding be on Amazon Prime can we watch it
like over the week I would say to Mario if Mario made that graphic promoting a remote I would tell
him to do it again like that's how bad he's looking like it's a criticism no I'm not
talking about you I'm just saying that is how bad that is Mario looks so bad that even you
could do better.
That's what I'm not.
But to think of every detail, like renting boats and keeping planes on the ground,
they're closing shops, how do you overlook the invitation?
I don't think people are realizing.
They are shutting down the city of Venice during Jubilee, once every 25 years Catholic
celebration on a Saturday in the summer.
I can't even imagine how much that would cost.
It used to be an astronaut.
You get special treatment.
I would just send out a group text for an invitation.
Just donate to charity.
Good grief.
Who's next?
Brent.
I know he does, but still.
Go ahead.
Hey, Matt.
A while back when we had a conversation about retiring,
and if we're not going to retire,
I don't know who we're going to retire.
Well, I mean, there's, listen,
if you were ever going to make, and I appreciate the call,
like a special exceptions argument to, I mean,
like the modern equivalent of when we retired the 92 guys jerseys might be a darius miller.
I mean, I still, they got to do Anthony Davis and John Wall.
That's the next two.
And then you still have Tayshan and Bogans, I think, are two more.
I mean, I think those are four that have to get done at some point whenever we start doing that again.
But then I think you go to that next group, then there's an argument for like a special exception, Darius Miller.
I think Darius should be there.
At the rate they're gone, they're on pace to do that in about 500 years.
That's my biggest complaint with the UK.
That's their blind spot.
I know it doesn't really matter, but it's been so long since they've retired a football number.
We have a huge list of basketball numbers that should already be up there.
Tashon, I mean, Tashon's the next one.
Yeah.
And why wouldn't you just do Tashon?
I mean, who would not love to have Tashon back in Rupp Arena next year for a Jersey retirement?
I mean, that would be awesome.
He is, first of all, you're getting close to 25 years since he played here.
I mean, how much long are you going to wait?
then next year do Bogans
and then do all and then do Dave
because those four are uncontroversial
right right no one's going to say those four shouldn't be done
we should be doing one a year for the next four years
so with you guys I think it's one of the coolest things Kentucky does
but why don't they do it more often I just don't understand why they have to wait
Tony Delke I think was the last one and that was what
10 years ago
Tony Delt played 30 years ago
like let's go ahead and get to I mean
who's going to argue with Tayshon
does anybody believe Tayshan shouldn't be
him out of the building if they do yeah so bringing me in his arms are so long he can touch the roof
when he does the why let's go ahead and do it who's next matt matt matt go ahead matt
quick question um just wanted to know when the uh trivia final was going to be and then also
uh wanted to know about the cassie row situation we hadn't heard about that in a while i like coach brooks
but it seems like the roster is not complete uh so just wanted to hear some sort of well
Okay, so first of all, on the trivia thing, we're going to do it as part of our opening.
So we're going to make one of our soft openings the trivia final.
So it's going to end up being probably second or third week of August.
So it'll be, we'll do it as one of our soft opening.
So actually, the people in the trivia finals will see the new restaurant before other people are.
So I will let you know the date, but that's the current plan.
Cassidy Rose situation, I haven't heard anything else about.
Do we know where she's going?
She's not going to school anywhere else, right?
she's going to go to school.
Here's what I would say about it.
And again, I was out when this was all going on,
and so I didn't have strong opinions.
The same people that kind of got on Ryan,
when he said yesterday he wouldn't cut his son,
are a lot of the same people that had a strong opinion
about cutting Cassidy Row, essentially.
And those are inconsistent opinions, right?
I mean, I think there is more to that situation
than the general public knows,
and I tend to defer to the coach.
in those situations.
So I'm not, I'm not, I'm not taking a strong view.
I wasn't there.
But I think, you know, I think Kenny Brooks deserves in year two some, some grace on it.
And he's been loading up on players too.
We have an unbelievable roster.
I mean, next year will be good, but then starting the next year, dude is going to,
is loading up at Kentucky.
Thank you all very much here and assured partners for having us.
And thanks everybody all week.
Check out the interrupted by Matt Jones.
and have a great weekend.
We'll see you Mondays.
