He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue with 42.
A rep.
My mama want you to wave at her.
What?
Where's he at?
Hey, Miss Parker.

welcome back tucky sports radio 859 2807 2727274 7524 this segment sponsored by shady rays if you're tired of buying expensive sunglasses only to lose or break them shady rays independent american owned company started right here in kentucky premium polarized shades for each
activity. They offer the best protection program in the industry lost and broken replacements.
I broke one couple weeks ago. They replaced it. That's what they knew. It's Shady Ray's, one of the
biggest sales of the years going the 4th of July in Lexington and Louisville and Shadyrays.com.
If you've ever thought you needed new sunglasses, go to Shady Race. All right, so you looked up the
Dave Parker thing. Was the story Ryan told correct or even a version of it? Correct. I'm going to say
Ryan was correct here. This is from MLB.com.
The story goes while in the minor leagues, Parker hit a home run in West Virginia that landed in a coal car on a passing train.
The ball was eventually picked up 150 miles away in Columbus, Ohio when the train stopped.
There you go.
Facts.
All right.
Facts.
So we're going to call that a true story by Ryan Lipp.
Yes.
They're all true.
All right.
There we go.
Ryan won for 750 on true stories.
On the board.
He is exactly right.
He is on the board.
What person writes, Matt, I listened to your ESPN Sunday morning show yesterday,
and it has been fun to watch you basically turn that into KSR every morning.
That has happened, although yesterday, Ryan, and you'll know what this is like,
they put me in the worst spot possible.
So, I mean, you know, nothing is going on in national sports right now.
Nothing.
Like, what would you say?
I mean, no NFL, no NBA, no hockey.
Yeah.
Baseball exists, but like what's the big storyline?
For me, it's the Reds, but like on national radio, what are you supposed to talk about?
No golf, no tennis, NASCAR, like, literally nothing.
So 20 minutes before the show, they tell me, by the way, Myron's not going to be here today.
Billy he hadn't told me that.
Myron hadn't told me.
So you have David Dennis Jr.
Now I like David Dennis Jr.
A lot.
In terms of fill-ins, he's probably my favorite.
So I'm like, okay, that's fine.
And they said, but David has a sports center hit from 10 to 1030.
So you have to do the first two segments by yourself.
Oh.
Now, I, as you know, hate doing segments by myself.
I hate doing like preachy radio.
here have a hot take on a topic.
But Ryan, Billy, what is there even to have a take on?
Right.
Like, what is there to even talk about?
There is nothing happening right now.
Nothing.
And with 20 minutes notice, they say to me, go on national radio
and do not one, but two segments completely by yourself with no prep.
I don't get nervous very much, but I kind of start freaking out a little bit.
I'm like, I don't have anything to talk about.
You gave me no notice.
And they're like, well, talk about Shohei.
What are you supposed to say about Shohei?
Like literally, what would you say, right?
If somebody told you do 12 minutes in a row on Shohei Otani.
There's no way I could feel 12.
I can feel maybe one minute at Shotei Otani.
Yeah, well, he's good.
Yeah, he pitches and he hits home runs.
Yeah, Billy, man, he hits that ball.
You got a stretch, Matt, generational talent.
Oh, he throws the ball so fast.
And then sometimes, Billy, he hits the ball.
So then I was like, I can't do that.
There's nothing to say.
And then they go, well, talk about the struggles of the Mets.
Oh, yeah.
You know the details on that?
Wow.
Talk about the struggles of the Mets.
I mean, can we collectively come up with the Mets roster?
No.
No.
They have Lindor and Juan Soto.
And then I think they have Keith Hernandez.
I don't think he's there anymore.
And Gary Carter.
I mean, I'm out.
So I sit there and look at it.
I get off my headset and I'm like, all right, I got to talk about something.
So I did, Billy, what all good radio hosts do.
I learned this from Bob Valvano.
I'll just read the news.
No.
I'll just read the news.
Because the top seven headlines on ESPN were the worst headlines you could think of.
The number three story on ESPN, Billy, was that Nicholas Batum had opted out from the Clippers.
Oh, man, that's going to be tough on the roster of the Clippers.
That was the number three story.
So I just did a thing where I was like, I just did this intro where I'm like, sports stinks right now.
I basically was like, sports are the worst right now.
If you don't believe me, I'm on ESPN.com's page and I'm going to tell you what the top eight stories in America are.
And all I did was take the top eight stories and make fun of them about this is what ESPN thinks are the biggest things happening in sports.
and I don't really know if my producers liked it
because Billy all I was doing was making fun of ESPN.
I was going to say, do the bosses check in with that show or what?
I think my producers weren't thrilled,
but you know what?
If they say something to me about it,
I'm going to say that's what you get when you tell me 20 minutes before the show
that on the slowest sports weekend of the year,
you have to just do two monologues about what happens.
So that's what I did.
And if you go hear it, I don't think it's particularly,
a great matter of fact i don't think it's one of the best things i've done but i got through it david got
done with the sports center here and then we were able to go back to normal but ryan i will say that's
one of the harder moments yesterday that i have had in broadcasting was on a weekend nothing is
happening where they just go hey man talk about show hey otani and the meds like you know might as well
just kill me now well as as a listener i'd rather hear you make fun of the topics than
break down the Mets or Shoah Atani or the dude in the clippers.
I don't want to hear that.
Who cares?
Who cares about, like, Nickler?
I mean, what are you going to say about Nicholas Batum?
Wow.
There's nothing to say.
And then, oh, yeah, one of the people go, hey, Wimbledon starts, and I'm like, oh, that's great.
Everybody loves to hear a good 12-minute monologue on Wimbledon.
It's going to be really hot over there.
It's going to be really hot.
Those Brits are really hot.
Anyway, what I would have talked about if it had been a local show is that Kentucky basketball went to Kings Island this week.
Yes.
You should have thrown that in there anyway.
I thought about putting it in there.
What does everybody think of like the Brady Bunch, Kentucky basketball went to Kings Island.
I had multiple Kentucky fans, send me pictures, said the guys were all nice.
They're doing team bonding trips.
So two questions for you, Ryan.
Number one, do you like that the team is going on bonding trips in the summer, sanctioned bonding trips, and two, do you like Kings Island?
I'm a yes on both of those.
I love the fact that Pope does this thing with the whole team.
Then they go to Lake Cumberland last year.
Pope was not there.
And I'll tell you why Pope wasn't there in a minute, but go ahead.
But, you know, the whole team went to Lake Cumberland and they're going up to Kings Island.
I love it to kind of do some stuff because they've been running their jocks off for the last couple weeks in this training session they've been going through.
going back to the 96 training of Patino.
So they need a little break.
And to answer your question about Kings Island, I love Kings Island.
I think it's great, man.
I'm a roller coaster guy.
When's the last time you've been to Kings Island?
I'd say I took the boys maybe four years ago, maybe five years ago.
Okay.
So you go, you get on all the roller coasters.
Oh, yeah.
The Beast.
What are the big roller coasters now?
When I was a kid, it was the Vortex and the Beast.
The Beast was Wooden, I think.
Yes, it was wooden.
Are there new ones?
The son of beast is another wooden roller coaster.
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah, they've got some new ones.
I can't think of the names of them.
Well, when I went back in the day, there was Son of the Beast and the Beast,
but I never left that place and wasn't in back pain.
So I'd be worried about the Kentucky guys.
So there's got to be new ones, though, right?
There's got to be new roller co.
Because the vortex is 25 years old.
Beast is older than that, I would think.
Diamondback, Mystic Timbers, Orion, Invertego.
flight of fear, Banshee.
I remember Banshee.
That's the one you're laying down.
So are you saying to me, are the ones we mentioned not there anymore?
No more vertex.
The beast is there.
I don't see Son of Beast anymore.
So Vortex is gone too.
And I don't even see Vortex either.
Do you remember they used to have the racer, the blue racer and the red racer?
I do remember the racer.
And then they made him go backwards.
So the only one left is Beast of the ones I remember.
The beast is a 141 foot drop.
and you go 64 miles per hour.
Yeah, and it's wood.
Awesome.
Okay.
And then they have the log flume.
I always, that's, I didn't look that.
What?
Why are you laughing at the log flume?
You got to ride the log flume when you go to amusement parks.
You have to.
Yeah, because people get wet and it's funny.
You know, when they shoot water.
That anticipation of going down the blast slide and getting wet.
I like the log flume.
What's wrong with the log flume?
Why are you mocking the log flume?
I am on your side with the log flum.
It's a good team bonding event.
Those guys are going to be closed after waiting a line for an hour.
Mark Pope was not there because he went to Switzerland to watch Jasper Johnson play for Team
USA.
He played for two games.
He had a great highlight, which I posted of a stepback three that he got fouled on.
Not a great performance while he was there.
The kid that's going to Louisville has been the star of the team, so that's not fun.
Mikkel Brown.
But otherwise, you know, he's on the team.
has played some, like I said, not played the best, but are you going to watch?
I think he has another game tomorrow.
Are you going to watch Jasper Johnson at all in these games?
I'd love to.
And I think it's awesome that Pope went over there to watch him play.
It's awesome that Jasper's got this opportunity.
A kid from right here in our backyard grew up here.
Parents played here.
Grandpa was on the staff.
I mean, it's just that's a UK family and to kind of embrace it by, you know,
going overseas and watching him play, I think just speaks volumes what they think of him.
And it's Team USA, right?
I mean, you get into that sort of pipeline of Team USA players, and they'll play some big games.
I mean, right now they're still in their pool play, but they'll end up, I mean, they'll get a test.
And it's got to be good for him to play against these dudes on a high level.
He's playing with the dudes who will be the best freshman in the country this year.
The guys on that team are, you look at the roster, they're essentially the best freshman in the country,
with the exception of a couple guys who opted out.
So good experience for Jasper Johnson, and I'm excited that he's getting to do it.
And I thought it was very cool.
I mean, your coach goes all the way to Switzerland.
That's not like going down to Gatlinburg.
I mean, he takes a flight to Switzerland to watch you play.
I think that's got to make you feel good.
Who's next, Bill?
Chris.
Chris, go ahead, Chris.
I was at the general lead jump, and I'd say there was quite a few people there,
because they had John Snyder there.
Oh, John, wait a minute, I didn't know that.
John Schneider was, John Schneider was there?
Yes.
Huh.
Well, that's amazing greet.
No Wopat?
He was not there.
But the other, the Coy Duke, he was also there.
Well, they brought Coy Duke.
I bet the line wasn't quite as long for meeting Coy.
Uh, I'll go through John's life, uh, coys.
Okay.
Well, good.
Well, I didn't rise John Schneider was there.
How old is John Snyder now?
Is he like in his, is he in his 70s?
Got to be 70s, doesn't he?
I would think he's got to be.
Look, he's 65.
See, oh, he's only 65.
Okay.
All right, go ahead, sir.
All right, I appreciate to call.
Your phone's not working, unfortunately.
Uh, so we're not going to be able to, to make it.
work. So they really made this a whole Dukes-A-Hazard theme. Does John Schneider, did he sing or am I dreaming that?
No, I think he became a singer. Yeah, you're right about that. Yeah, and he has been to Hazard in the past.
They have done a couple of events. Yeah, but not like. They would have a festival and a parade.
I think those guys, some of them come down with me in the parade. You got to put a John Schneider's song on when we come back from break.
I want to hear what his music sounds like. I have a vision of how bad it is, but I need to hear it to make clear.
Who's next? Keith is next.
Keith, go ahead, Keith.
Hey, Keith.
I'm the executive director of Summer Nauts Cruise.
Oh, so you organized this?
Yes.
Summer Nouts Cruise Incorporated.
Go ahead.
Yes, we're a 501C3 nonprofit here in Somerset,
and we do seven shows a year, car shows,
and this was just one of our events.
We're celebrating our 25 years of doing events,
and we thought this would be a cool way to do it.
Well, I mean, clearly it was.
You had to be thrilled with how much publicity this got.
I mean, it went all over the world.
Yes, we're hearing from Australia and Europe.
It's hitting news coverage there, so we're thrilled with it.
Well, you definitely should be.
Now, can you tell me how much it costs to bring the general lead to jump a fountain?
It costs a lot.
I don't know that I can devolve the contract information because the company that we contracted,
the Northeast Ohio Dukes actually gave us a little bit of a discount to help them because they wanted to do this event because it was so epic and historic.
So I don't know that I can give you that, but it was substantial money.
You can imagine the cost of building the car, transporting everything and doing everything.
Then we had the insurance cost on top of that, special out building insurance.
So who is the photographer that was out there?
Who is the photographer that almost got himself run over?
I don't know.
It was part of their crew who's doing some filming.
And we will actually have a nice, slick professional video of this event of the jump,
probably available this week on our Facebook page and on our website that's being produced.
And there's a lot of great video out there from people.
We're going to have a really nice slick one available.
so people can follow us on our Facebook page and see when we post that.
But it was a big day, probably $30,000 plus.
Like I said, John Schneider was there.
He actually did a concert Friday night before at the Virginia Theater where you guys were at two weeks ago.
Well, that's awesome.
Well, I have to go to break.
I'm sorry.
But very cool.
Congratulations on the successful event.
And if you ever do something like that again, let us know, okay.
All right, we'll do it.
Thanks, man.
You guys have a good one.
Thank you.
Appreciate it.
Wow.
30,000 people?
And John Snyder was there.
Who knew?
We'll take a break.
Barry back.

Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase
that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing.
And we're still chasing it.
And we don't know when we've done enough.
Because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and losses.
Steve Burns, Dustin Ross,
because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth,
or are you a good person because you're afraid?
Because that's two different intentions, bro.
Absolutely.
And that's two different levels of trust.
I want you to just really be a good person.

What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defying the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows.
Without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series
because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us everything he gives us
on the night-to-night bases on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson,
we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nass would get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
He running up the court, licking his fingers,
why he got the ball, like,
After you go through a training camp with that Isaiah, you figure it out real quick.
Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball.
So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
I don't hate this.
I mean, this sounds very much like late 70s country.
Which is right with your willhouse.
Yeah, that's a little, I tend to be like early 70.
This isn't quite me, but this is definitely a genre of country, late 70s, early 80s, like the Ronnie Millsap type of country.
But it's not bad.
Certainly better than the crap that's out now.
So, yeah, I'm good with that.
John Snyder, 65 years old, started the Dukes of Hazard Ryan when he was 18.
Really?
I thought they looked old on that show.
How old was Tom Wopat, though?
He definitely looked older than that.
on there.
I don't know.
One person writes,
Matt, Saturday the basketball team
also came to the Cincinnati
Ronald McDonald House.
My three-week-old son is there.
He was airlifted from UK
with a rare immune system
disease.
All the players were nice,
and they sent me a picture
of all the players
meeting with the kids.
How nice is that?
That just melt your heart,
doesn't it when you hear that
because the kids face,
you know, they light up.
They're going through things.
We know child should have to go through,
and then the UK basketball team
goes and makes them,
make their day, so well done.
Son of the Beast, according to multiple texters, Billy, shut down because 10 years ago,
it stopped mid-rod.
It went from 80 to zero and multiple people lost their teeth into the padding.
Oh, my gosh.
Oh, my goodness.
Whoa.
Yeah, no wonder it was shut down.
See, it's what you get with it.
It's the son of the beast.
I've always told you the sons of successful people.
do much worse than the people.
Even roller coaster sons.
Wow.
Even the kids of roller coasters.
I never trust a rich person's kid.
Like a person who's very successful who takes over the family business, whether it is
politics, whether it is business.
Sports is a little different, although it's rare to find a kid that was better.
If his dad was really good, rare to find a kid that's better than his dad.
happens but not very often
and now Billy also
true with roller coasters son of the beast
less successful than his father
losing teeth into the padding
oh that's rough does not

Tyler is Tyler go ahead Tyler
Tyler go ahead
Tyler I actually called in to talk about your
I actually called in to talk about your
ESPN show which I listened to yesterday
I actually thought you did a really good job
As soon as you said, you didn't have topics and didn't have a co-hust, I knew where that was going, but I think you played it off well.
Well, I mean, literally, 20 minutes before they tell you, I want you to imagine, 20 minutes before somebody tells you to go on national radio and just talk about nothing going on.
But you know what?
I'm glad you thought I got through it because it felt when I had to sit there and talk about UFC and literally I had to ask the producer, Billy, how do I pronounce these two men's names?
that fall in the ring.
Like, literally never heard of either one of them.
I knew it was going to be a long day.
But go ahead.
The one that I liked and wanted to talk about
was the Chelsea coach complaining about the heat.
I don't know when this kind of started,
but I feel like it's been in the cultural zeit guys recently,
but Europeans just absolutely incapability
to handle standard level of American heat.
I mean, I was in London in 2023,
and I'm just walking through a park.
Overheard of guys talking about how it's too hot to eat.
My man, it was 79 degrees.
People moved to San Diego and pay millions of dollars for homes in that weather.
He acts like he was about to die of heat stroke on the Oregon Trail because it was moderately hot.
And it's unbelievable.
It is the way that – and I'm glad you brought that up.
I appreciate the call.
I was at a soccer game Saturday, Ryan, in Philadelphia.
Yes.
And it was two Brazilian teams.
and it was painfully hot, okay?
I mean, it was even sitting in the crowd.
It was really hot.
I'll talk about what happened at the game at another point because it was a lot of fun.
It was really hot.
And the Brazilians were like fine with it.
They're playing.
The fans are dancing, all this.
And then I saw this story about when Chelsea played later in the afternoon in Charlotte,
and the coach was like, this is unfair that it is this hot.
this is not how human beings should have to deal.
And it was 92 degrees.
It was 92 degrees, which granted in Charlotte, 92 degrees is hot.
But he was literally saying that the World Cup should be moved from America next year
because it's too hot to play here.
And I don't, Europeans do a lot of stuff well,
but acting like a little bit of heat is insufferable is crazy to me.
That's what I think to that coach.
Shut up, man.
go out and just beat somebody.
He's probably whining because they got beat.
Well, they won.
No, they won.
They did win.
We shouldn't have to put our players in this.
And I was with the Brazilian people.
It was two Brazilian teams.
They were fine.
The Europeans can't seem to handle it.

That's court.com, the power of physical therapy.
We'll take a break.
Be right back to Kentucky Sports Radio.
Welcome back, Tegu Sports Radio.
We have some breaking news here, Billy.
I don't have the button yet.
What do you mean you don't have?
Jumping up and down.
What do you mean you don't have the button?
Well, it's a studio I haven't been in before.
So then you have to do it yourself with your, with your,
voice.
One-ee-na-na.
No, I need a better version of that.
Wanting-na-na.
Oh, you got to get close to the microphone.
One more time.
There we go.
There it is.
See?
By putting the pressure on him, he was able to find the button.
EA Sports has announced they are bringing back the college basketball video game.
After 15 years without a, without a, without a.
college basketball video game, it will be back starting this fall.
That's kind of exciting, Ryan, for video game players out there.
It's been a long time since there's been a college basketball video game.
Of all the news stories and reports we've had since Mario started working, he literally
jumping up and down, high-fiving himself when he saw the news.
Oh, is he really?
Is he happy about that?
How on the microphone?
Come on over here, Mario.
Here he comes.
I mean, he is literally...
Let's go!
Why does that make you...
you so happy. Because it's
finally back. I've been waiting for this day for so
long, so long.
Wow, listen to the glee
in his, well, I mean,
you weren't even like,
you were just a little kid when that game existed, right?
So me and my brothers, we used to play
it all the time. Like, that's what we, that was
our hobby, he was playing college basketball
and video games. That's all we did. So
I was happy when the football version came out,
but now I'm ecstatic, man.
I'm I'm this made my day well I love to see how happy he is uh well all right well
so uh did you play when you played the game did you play with kentucky or were you play with
john wall i was john wall my my brothers were uh unc with with tyler hansbrough and those guys
i think that was the last was the last game the john wall year it was 2010 so the oh nine
so yeah the last game was the john wall year so it has literally been 15 years the last game was
John Wallier, so you'll be able to play
with the team this year.
Well, Mario, I'm glad you're excited.
Made my day, man.
Today's, what's today's date?
The 30th?
June 30th.
June 30th goes in the history books for Mario.
I appreciate it.
Wow.
It is big news.
Like the old one had Blake Griffin on it,
and I mean, you've probably been playing it for 15 years now
since it was the last one.
Yeah, I guess it was John Wal-Dermacus Cousins is the last one.
And, you know, they did.
with the college football, you're probably going to be able to get the old teams as well.
And so that'll be like, you know, people can play with the 2015 Kentucky team or all those guys.
So, Ryan, it is exciting.
I can see why people would be really, really happy about it.
I can't even emphasize how excited Mario was when he saw that.
I mean, he literally was jumping up and down when he saw the news that it was going to be released.
I wanted to tell you, so this past week, and I'm sure you don't have this wrong.
Brian, Billy, you might have it.
Billy, do you have LinkedIn?
I do.
See, I don't.
Well, I didn't.
But I got it this week for the first time.
You're on it?
Yeah, but you're on it.
I haven't been on it since college.
I mean, I was just looking for a job, sending out my resume.
But in theory, I could add you as a, as a, there you are.
You are a second level connection for me.
There you are.
Now I just added you if you had me back.
But, Ryan, you don't have LinkedIn.
right i think i do i think with my new position with executive train i've got linked in i just literally
got it do you know if you have it or not i think i think i think i do but how can you think
i never i never get on it but i think i was i signed up for it i'm going to see if rind has
right you don't seem to have it oh no there you are you don't have a picture yeah i i haven't
even you don't have a picture you don't have any friends on no i so what do you use you
It's completely blank.
I don't.
I don't use it at all.
It's just one of those things that I need to sign up for.
So why do you have it?
I think for maybe future possibilities, maybe.
But right now it looks like the saddest thing I've ever seen.
There you go.
That's my life.
I mean, it just says Ryan Lemon, business development, and executive, train, and then nothing else.
Yeah, I think that's it.
According to you, he has, Billy, no experience and no education.
That's going to hurt you get a job, Ryan.
That's what you need.
I think it'd be better off not to have it than to have that as your problem.
Well, I never had it because I, since it existed, have never needed to apply for a job.
But I don't know why it was like I kept having friends of mine say, I'll write you on LinkedIn and then I have to say I wasn't there.
So I got it.
And Billy, I have to say it's been kind of wild because basically it has allowed me to go see what everyone I went to law school with is now doing.
Okay.
Because I really haven't kept in touch with almost anyone I went to law school with.
There's a handful of people that I have.
There's a couple of people I see.
But in general, that's like a phase of my life where I just moved on.
And, like, they all live all across the countries.
It's so, you know, if you go to UK law school, most of the lawyers that go there live in Kentucky.
But Billy at Duke, some live in New York, some live in D.C., some live in L.A.
I never see any of these people.
So I get on LinkedIn and I start adding my classmates.
And of course, they're connected to my other classmates.
And it is fascinating, Billy, to see what all of these people I went to school with
are doing versus what I'm doing.
Right.
So I was on the Duke Law Journal.
So I went to the masthead of my Duke Law Journal.
That's like, so the 25 people I was on it with.
And I added all of them.
And Billy, these people are partners at law firms.
One of them is senior counsel for the Fed, right?
You know, that sets interest rates and all that stuff.
One of them is a lead counsel for the Senate Republican leadership.
One of them was a lead counsel for Joe Biden's administration.
They live like one of them is like the CEO.
of the Milwaukee Brewers.
Okay.
My goodness.
And then me, it says,
the way your experience works is the last thing you put in is at the top.
So if you go to my page, the top thing is owner OVW wrestling.
Which makes me think all these people I went to school with,
as we get connected, when they look at my thing,
they're going to be going,
hosts a sports radio show,
runs a wrestling company,
has a restaurant.
It's just Billy a completely different life
than everyone else I went to school with,
and it sort of hit me as I was on LinkedIn.
Like, they're all in ties and like headshots,
and I'm sitting with a hoodie on,
with my arm around Ryan.
That was my picture.
It's just a completely different existence than everybody I went to school.
Well, you're changing the world in a different way, Matt.
You're talking about the General Lee.
No, no, I wouldn't.
Don't get me wrong.
I wouldn't want to do what they do, right?
But I just wonder, you know, when my 25th reunion comes in like three years,
most people go back for that.
That's the one you go back for.
It's like the 25th.
I do wonder, Ryan, what the conversations with these people will be like.
this many years later.
Because you know, they're probably messaging each other.
Hey, remember Matt, that guy that was second in our class?
You can see what he's doing now?
He's a wrestler.
He owns a wrestling company.
You know, they don't bring me back, by the way, Ryan, for any alumni, like, you know, speak to the school.
Well, they never say, let's bring the guy who hosts the sports radio show back.
It's what you can do with the Duke law.
Here's a picture of him.
He's got on a hoodie and shorts and a baseball hat.
He'd be perfect to speak to our youth.
I'm sure they still last for money.
He'll be, they do ask for money.
They do ask for money all of the time.
The other thing is, Billy, and Ryan, I know you've dealt with this.
I see some of the headshots, and I'm like, I can't be that old.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Oh, their headshots.
Okay.
Their head shots.
I sit there and look, because, you know, I haven't seen these people in 22 years.
So all of a sudden you just, like, I haven't watched them age.
They just are old now.
And you sit there and you go, oh, I can't look.
like that, do I?
Not with your cowboy hat on.
I don't look like that.
I'm not that old.
A little reality check on LinkedIn.
You got to be careful with LinkedIn.
It'll make you go, whoa.
Tom has passed since that stage of my life.
Who's next?
Let's go to Zach.
Zach, go ahead, Zach.
Hey, I just want to talk about your skill as a solo radio host.
rants, which typically happen, only when you're solo, like at the beginning of post-game show,
stuff like that.
That's one of your best skills as a host.
Do you ever listen to Mad Dog Russo in the afternoons?
I have, yes.
But see, the thing about, like, the post-game show, that is a topic that not only do I know,
I'm passionate about.
I've just watched the game.
I'm passionate about what's happened.
And especially, like, at the end of the Cal era, or when we've won.
a big game, like when we beat Duke.
I do think I do a good job with that because I'm speaking about something I care about
extemporaneously.
Here's a little secret.
I don't care about the vast majority of sports that I have to talk about on the SBN.
Between me and you, I don't really care about any of them.
So, like, it makes it a little harder, whereas with Kentucky and KSR postgame shows, I do care
about what I'm talking about.
Totally get that.
I just think, man, if you flip that switch and turn that rant on when you need it,
Obviously, you're not going to need it all the time.
But when you need it, I think you can be absolutely elite at it.
And what's one quick thing I'll leave you with that Mad Dog always does is, you know,
he obviously doesn't care about any of these topics either.
But when he doesn't really, you know, know where to go, he just goes into talking about the leagues.
And that drives calls every single time.
People have really good takes.
And it's a good conversation that you would be great at.
But see, I just can't.
I feel like those guys, and I appreciate the call, not him in particular, but I just feel like those dudes
that give those long rants about things that they know nothing about.
Like you remember when Mike Francesa, we played that thing, Ryan,
where he was talking about the NCAA tournament,
and he clearly didn't know anything about it.
They were up, they were down, they had some good games,
you had some bad games.
See, I couldn't do that.
I just can't do that because I'm like,
I know I'm full of it.
If I know I'm full of it,
then the listeners have to know I'm full of it.
And I just can't do it.
I'm much preferred to have a conversation,
joke around.
But you're right.
On UK stuff, I can do it because I do care about it.
And sometimes if there's a topic and issue or something I can care about.
But whether Nicholas Batum is going to re-sign with the Clippers,
who in the world cares?
So in your first two minutes, did you bring in the Somerset Daredevil Jump?
No, I just made fun of all the topics.
They read the news, right?
I didn't do what Belvedevil.
I didn't literally read the paper.
I just read the headline and then basically made fun of it, and then that was it.
All right, go ahead.
Tell me about Stock to Mortgage.
Good news from Stock to Mortgage, Matt.
Stock and Mortgage can help you explore how to put your idle equity to work.
There's a lot of ways you can do it.
That can mean you can access cash that you could use to, you know, finally knock out that renovation project, consolidate debt,
just breathe a little easier in life.
So because, let's be honest, unused equity is kind of like that treadmill in the corner that's covered in laundry.
When you hang your laundry on it and you, like, hang blankets on it and dirty clothes?
No, we don't want that.
We want you to get that treadmill out and get on it.
So get potential and get, let's get that fixed.
Get started the day.
It's Stockton.com.
What do you talk about?
Stockton Morgan, NMLS 8259, Equal Housing Lender.
What are you talking about?
What treadmill hanging a towel?
What are you talking about?
I was trying to add-in-a-lid-li-b-that?
Did you, were you trying to ad-lib that?
Yeah.
I think that would.
Billy, tell him not to add.
It didn't sound like copy, no.
That didn't sound like, it just sounded like you were just, what was the point?
A treadmill with a t-shirt?
What are you talking about?
Yeah, you know, your unused equity is like that treadmill in the corner of your room.
You never use it anymore.
So why not trying to-
Your unused equity is like a treadmill in your room?
Yeah.
What does that mean?
It's there, but you don't use it.
It could be very beneficial to you, but you don't touch it.
You kind of forget about it, covered up with laundry, a blanket, dirty clothes.
Okay, but see, okay, I get what you.
It was the laundry that was throwing me off, Billy.
Because I didn't know what that meant.
You're just saying your unused equity is like a treadmill that you should be using, but you're not.
And here's the crazy thing.
That is the script that I have to read after the show today.
I was kind of trying it out to see how it worked out.
That's the script.
I think we send that one back, don't you?
We'll get a rewrite there.
That's exactly the scripts.
Send the laundry and the treadmill back to stock to mortgage.
I think we could get something else.
I think now just say it's a good time to buy.
Always a good time to buy.
I'll stock the mortgage.
Last night, a blown call changed a game.

Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing,
we get so wrapped up in the chase
that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing.
And we're still chasing it,
and we don't know when we've done enough.

And on my podcast, The Cliverts Show,
I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff.
Like being an internet famous referee.
We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker walks up to me.
He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Quarterback on office blue with 42.
Hey, rec, my mama want you to wave at her.
What?
Hey, Miss Parker.
Listen to the Clippers show on the IHeart Radio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves,
I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the play.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nash would get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
He running up the court licking his fingers while he got the bar like, you go through a training camp with that Isaiah.
you figure it out real quick.
Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball.
So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

One person writes, Matt, I just looked
at your LinkedIn profile
and followed you.
You should put a more
professional picture for your law
school friends.
Nah. I mean, that's
who you are. That's who I am.
I mean, it's not like I'm intimidated by him.
honestly, Billy, between me and you, I'm as smart or smarter than they are.
I'm not worried about that.
I'm not trying to impress them.
It's just like my life could have gone that way.
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
Like I could have been the one.
And I don't think it would be better.
Matter of fact, I think it would be worse.
But if it wasn't for randomly starting a sports blog that took off,
I'm probably like working at the Fed or something really boring and wearing.
a tie every day and maybe
Billy looking really old
We got more claw commercials maybe
I mean there could have been a lot of good content
Oh yeah
No I mean if I hadn't started KSR
I probably would have gone back to D.C.
And worked.
I started KSR when I was clerking in Kentucky
And my plan was to clerk in Kentucky
And then go back to Washington, D.C.
But I started KSR
And it was starting to get some legs
And I was like, well, I just want to see where this goes
you know, see what happens with this.
And I've told this story before,
but like sometimes the best things that happen to you in life are unexpected.
I interviewed to be an assistant U.S. attorney in Lexington.
And I really wanted the job, and I thought I was going to get it,
and it came down to me and one other person,
and the judge picked the other person.
And later apologized to me about it, and I'm like, thank you.
Because if you hadn't done that, I would have probably taken that job.
Ryan, they would have made me quit the block.
because you can't be a U.S. attorney and blog, and I'd probably be a U.S. attorney now.
And so, like, you never know, like, sometimes things that at the time or you're really sad about can end up being the best thing that happened to you.
God bless the broken road, Matthew.
Look, there you go.
That's exactly right.
That's right.
Or the unanswered prayers, Garth Brooks, right?
Yeah.
Okay.
Who's next?
Brian.
Brian, I got like a minute.
Hey, this is Discolf Ryan.
You were talking about nothing really going on with pro sports right now,
but we, Matt, are in the heart of the disc golf professional season.
Oh, gosh.
Yeah, I still stand by my statement.
I mean, what are you supposed to say about disc golf?
You throw it and it goes in a basket.
There's a lot going on.
Coming up in August, actually one of the pro tour stops is in Kentucky.
It's up in Florence.
It's the idle wild course up there.
Okay.
Well, that's good.
And I would love to, I appreciate the call.
I wish the Florence golf the best.
Not exactly going to be the hottest sports radio topic, but if it's in Kentucky, I root it on.
Now, for the rest of the week, tomorrow I will not be here.
I have to be traveling.
I will be back on Wednesday.
Where is the show on Wednesday, Ryan?
It's in Versailles.
It's at a standard-bred horse farm in Versailles.
By Bramble Park is the name of it.
In Versailles.
If you're in the Versailles area or Lexington, come to see it.
It's a brand new place.
We will be there on Wednesday.
But tomorrow I won't be here.
Ryan's going to have a number of people in studio with you.
You got like, Ryan, like three or four people, right?
We're still efforting some of them.
Yeah, we're working on that.
So Billy, we'll see if he has three or four people.
But I will be back on Wednesday.
Thank you to everybody for listening.
If you get a chance, check out the Matt Jones Show episodes from last week.
We'll have another one this week.
