Starting point is 00:03:49 Schedular appointment today at Court.com. That's KORT.com. The power of physical therapy with court. 859-2-80-2287. Let's go over a couple things real quick. First of all, I drew my reds. I went into this weekend at Boston, at Philly this week. I thought, love to go three and three, got to go two and four.
Starting point is 00:04:13 Ended up going two and four. We ended up facing the Phillies best pitchers, which hurt us. Now, this is essentially the season this week. You got the Marlins and the Rockies, seven games in a row at home. Got to win them. thing is five and two. Gotta go five and two. Six and one would be better.
Starting point is 00:04:36 That's asking a lot. Five and two, that would put you five games over 500, going in the All-Star break. You'd probably be a game or two out of the wild card and you're set up with a shot. So I think they got to go five and two. If they go less than five and two, I think it's going to be hard to get done. I've been watching, all the teams we've been playing for the wild card have played these two teams in the last few weeks. We're the last one to get them. and they all banked up wins against these teams.
Starting point is 00:05:01 Now it's our time to do it. And if we don't, then I think we're not going to get it. Then the summer's over. The summer of alley is over. If we have a losing record in these seven games, summer valley ends. If it's four and three, the summer of Ellie is shaky, but still going five and two, the summer of Ellie's on. Well, it sounds like a big window has opened for you at this point in the season.
Starting point is 00:05:20 As I mentioned, last week, I did some scouting in Colorado for you. They're absolute trash. So if you don't sweep them in Great America Ballpark, I think that in itself. Not the Rockies. No, they're bad. They're real bad. Our guy at Chase Burns has pitched three times.
Starting point is 00:05:37 One time, awesome. Next time, only got one out, third time awesome. I think they were stealing his pitches that day. There is no doubt. They not even get through the first inning against Boston. They had to have been two minutes pitches. They had to pick something up. Okay, so tell me because I'm an idiot.
Starting point is 00:05:53 How does someone, like, when the Rocks, Justin Red Sox people say they were, when the, they were, he was tipping the pitches. And what does that mean? If you're like, okay, pitchers maybe we'll do something different when they're going to throw, let's say, an off-speed pitch versus a fastball and not even realize they're doing it. You know, it could be something very subtle, just the way they tilt their glove. You know, something as simple as that. Hitters can pick up on that stuff.
Starting point is 00:06:17 And if they picked up on it, then they'd be able to know, are just a fastball, I'm ready for it. It's good. Did you read what the Red Sox they think, but they picked up? I didn't see. Something about when he threw an off-speed pitch, like his leg on his kick was going at a different angle. There was something about his leg kick. And they knew when he did that, they knew it was an off-speed pitch coming. It's like a tell in poker.
Starting point is 00:06:38 Okay. Pick up on it. And so as a baseball player, if you knew what the pitcher was throwing, you could light him up. Especially a big leaguer. Yeah, they know a fastball's coming or an off-speed pitch is coming. They can just sit on it and just drill it. Well. At that first inning, they only swung and missed one time.
Starting point is 00:06:55 They hit every strike he threw because they had to know something was coming. Had to have. Because then the last two games, like the first game and the third game, I mean, Reds lost yesterday, but he was awesome in the innings he pitched. Yeah. We just had Tony Centian who trade Espinall for a bag of bricks. And Centian needs to not be in the eighth inning using some other time. Espinall, I don't know why he's up anything.
Starting point is 00:07:21 I'd rather have you ride. I do, however, like Scuz Bucket. Scuz Bucket There's a person named Scuzz Bucket No, but he looks like He looks like he would hang out with Shannon Not in his life
Starting point is 00:07:33 But he looks like a rock and roll guy Barlow is his name Barlow Yeah, I like him But otherwise You know You talk about this kid that committed from Mueller He throws the baseball
Starting point is 00:07:44 97 miles an hour as a shortstop That's like an Ellie type arm Did you see the guy on the pirates threw a ball from the outfield yesterday 106 miles an hour Good grief It's the fight It's the fastest throw on baseball they've ever seen recording a baseball.
Starting point is 00:07:58 Really? O'Neill Cruz. He was throwing somebody out at home, and he threw it 106 miles an hour. That's amazing. Yeah, and he's not even a pitcher. Yeah. I guess if you took, I guess you could throw it faster if you like take a crow hop. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:12 A little running starts. What's a crow hop? It's like what outfielers use. But why is it a crow hop. That's just why they call it a crow hop. Kick that leg up. Kick that leg up. Jasper Johnson played this weekend for Team USA.
Starting point is 00:08:24 He got better every game. So, like, the first game or two, I saw parts of it. I thought, probably eighth or ninth best man, guy on the team. I don't know. But he got better every time. He ended up averaging eight points a game. The big thing for me is he shot 47% from the field. If he shoots 47% from the field, he's going to be really, really good.
Starting point is 00:08:41 And I think as the tournament got on, he was probably by the end, the third or fourth best player on the team. Best players were probably the AJ DeMontza guy that's going to BYU and then the kid going to Louisville. But Jasper got better on and on, and that makes me very. excited for it. Yeah, he had a good turnout. He had the highest plus-minus on the team yesterday. I know they won by a million beaten Germany in the title game, but he led there and he had the lowest turnover average on the team. So some good stats that stood out along with the shooting
Starting point is 00:09:09 it well. Knocked down, got fouled on a three yesterday, knocked down some free throws, got another bucket, played pretty well. Just in a couple of video clips I saw like he steps back, step back three from like NBA range. You can't, you can't guard that. I mean, well, listen, if he's able to shoot the ball well you they are not going to be people will not be able to stay in front of him no so the question is just can he finish at the rim and can he shoot well yeah and he shot well in this tournament so we'll see i can't wait like i said he's going to get a guy that once he gets in here gets bigger strong he's just going to get better and better he's going to be a superstar did you like the Louisville fan shannon uh celebrating the miss dunk yeah i saw that i saw that i mean they put
Starting point is 00:09:47 listen when i saw these louisville when i saw these accounts that were like oh my and then they were going, the majesty. And they had a slow motion dunk. I thought, oh no, this dude just jammed on these guys. And then when I saw he missed. Doink. He missed. And somebody pulled up an old tweet of mine where I said something like,
Starting point is 00:10:11 what a pass by do. If Z had finished that, it would be legendary. Or what a pass by Z if a do had finished it would be legendary. I remember that behind the back. But for me, I was celebrating the past. right, the past. They were celebrating just a miss. I want to take a play.
Starting point is 00:10:31 Like first game Kentucky plays next year. Take like a miss three. Put it in slow motion the way they did. And celebrate it. And then go, oh my. Cling! Look at the form of that shot. By the way, do we open with Louisville next year?
Starting point is 00:10:54 No, but it's early. It's like the first. the Champions Classic. I think we'll get a game or two in the week before, but it's the first Tuesday. It is before the Champions Classic this year. I think it's eight days into the season. I didn't realize that until yesterday. I mean, I knew it was early, but I didn't realize it was before the Champions Classic until yesterday.
Starting point is 00:11:10 That's why maybe it's more important to play a couple of those exhibition games against tough teams, kind of get ready for the Louisville game and the Champions Classic a little earlier. As of right now, it is the first game. Yeah, they haven't announced some of the really stinky games. All right. Last thing. Let me ask you a question about what's, happening in Philadelphia. Have you seen this story in Philadelphia? Tell me about it.
Starting point is 00:11:30 Garbage workers are on strike in Philadelphia. That's not a group of people you want to go on strike. No. Well, if you're talking about an industry that a city needs, especially a city, a city, garbage workers would be the biggest. They've gone on strike. And people in the city are mad. If you get bored, just Google Philly TikTok. People are like taking their garbage and they're like going to their city council members' house and just leaving it on there. Here you take it. So my question for you is,
Starting point is 00:12:03 let's say you lived in Philadelphia and the garbage workers are on strike. What are you supposed to do with your garbage at that moment? Like, where do you even go? Are you allowed, this is Matt knows nothing about the real world. Are you allowed to just take it to the dump yourself? Well, I mean, we, in, first of all, this is a really stinky situation we're dealing with right here.
Starting point is 00:12:29 See, that's why you don't want to tell him anything of stupid jokes. All right. But in Kentucky, you know, we have landfills. So let's just say it happened in Lexington. Lexington garbage workers are on strike. Where are you taking your garbage? I think you can take it to an area of landfill. You have to pay.
Starting point is 00:12:43 But where is it? Like literally, I go, Ryan, I'm stacked up with garbage. Where do I go? I'm not sure. Do you know? I've been to one and I can't even think out where I was. I think either. Shannon, do you know where one is in a little?
Starting point is 00:12:59 No one on for sales road? Yes. Yeah, that's the one I don't know. I don't either. You said for sales road? I think there's one down for sales road. I'm pretty sure that's where I went. When you say where, like where?
Starting point is 00:13:11 It's like in between downtown and New Circle, isn't it? Well, that's a big distance. Where do I go between downtown and New Circle? So you don't know where it is. He's close. He's close. I've been. I've been.
Starting point is 00:13:24 I dropped off the TV. So, okay. Yes. Okay, but let's say I have eight bags of garbage and I need to get rid of. I just put them in my car. They'll fit right in. And I just drive there. Let's say we know where it is.
Starting point is 00:13:41 Am I allowed to just throw it in the dump? No, you got to pay a fee. How much is it? I'm not sure. Is it a lot of money? I don't think it's a lot. But you pay a fee, I think, to use the land sale. So it's like, what are we talking a dollar, $20?
Starting point is 00:13:54 $20, $25? There's $20 a bag? Maybe. I don't know. It's not $20 a bag. They're not charging me. Maybe a low $20 a load. You think it'd be $160 to throw eight bags of garbage in there?
Starting point is 00:14:05 Well, that's why people don't do it. They go by the weight, not the bag. Okay, so you go there, right? So if you're in a big city, they don't have that. That's what I'm saying. And there'd be a lot of people in line to just dump garbage. And think about how long it would take to get into the line. My goodness.
Starting point is 00:14:23 So what are people supposed to do? They just let the garbage pile up. Here's my point of all this. I know we have garbage workers that listen to this. We take them for granted. Yes. Because in Philadelphia right now, people are losing their minds because they can't get the garbage. And I actually think, Shannon, these garbage workers have all the leverage in the workers.
Starting point is 00:14:42 Absolutely. You have to have them. Let that garbage stack up for a couple weeks and stinky and rats all over the place. And what if the whole city stinks? Yeah. It's a trash city anyway. So, I mean, I think it's appropriate. They got trash fans.
Starting point is 00:14:55 Wow. The Eagles fans are the actually. I told you I hate Philadelphia. I like next to the state of Kansas, Philadelphia is the worst place in the United States. So state of Kansas and then Philadelphia, you're least favorite place. Well, I'm for the garbage. I don't even know what they're asking for, but I'm for it. But I was realizing as I saw that story, what would I do? And I don't know the answer. And it sounds like none of you all do either.
Starting point is 00:15:17 And in a small town, I'm sure it's easy. Yes. But in Lexington or Louisville, I'm not 100% sure what you do. And it can't be $20 a bag. But if it's even $10 a bag, which probably isn't. But whatever it is, it's got to be really expensive because you're right or else people would just line up and do it themselves. Some people are probably burning what they can. That's illegal.
Starting point is 00:15:39 In your case, Matt, just going to take the garbage, you know? In your case, Matt, just leaving the car and the floorboard. I did see, I googled it. I like to have it says the average to use a landfill is $40 to $60 per ton. Per ton. I know. That's a lot of garbage for a ton. That's a lot of garbage. How much is it?
Starting point is 00:15:58 That's according to a website on the Internet. Sounds right. Lexon here, they do have like... How much is it a ton? I'll Google that too. 2,000 pounds. Lexington has free days for like for electronics. They'll let you bring your stuff for free to put it in the landfill.
Starting point is 00:16:17 Yeah, because it's that line up and give them your ID. It's that line from that Nate Bergotsie S&L thing. He was like, we will have a word for 2,000. of pounds and he goes it's a and the guy goes well what is the word for one thousand pounds and he was like nothing so anyway uh shout out to the philly garbage workers jay and linden go ahead j that's on me there we've been mark stoop's dead man walking if we're seven and five and beat you of l is that a statue of stoop's at the stadium what's i mean to the program it's not a statue but seven and five and beat you of l you would have to be like dancing industry
Starting point is 00:16:56 I would even go six and six and six and beat you of L, Jay. It's a very successful year. Seven and five and beat U of L, then you're like sitting here going the program is rolling. Percent chance we go six and six, seven and five. Seven and five. Appreciate the call. That's your three stinky wins, Louisville, Vandy,
Starting point is 00:17:18 and you've got to beat two people you're not supposed to. Okay, so our way to get to seven and five would be Louisville, Vandy, Auburn and somebody. Who's the other one? Florida. Probably your best chance would be Louisville, Vandy, Auburn, Florida. That's the most likely scenario to seven and five. I would say five percent chance.
Starting point is 00:17:39 I would say six and six. Oh, I've already told you it's happening. Six and six I'd go 15. I think you have, here's what I would say. Matt, what percentage chance do you think it is to make a bowl? 20. That's my guess. What's your percentage chance to make a bowl? I'll go a little lower. Vanney Louisville Auburn is not crazy.
Starting point is 00:18:10 No. Not crazy. Not crazy. Unlikely, but not crazy. I'll say on the bowl 15%. I'll be a little more pessimistic than you. I'm probably closer to 20 than 15. I'm telling you, if Cal's out as good, I'll go 19.5. 19.5. Shannon, what's yours? already said that I think they're going to get six wins. That was my unpopular opinion. So what's your what's your what's your I'm going to go well it's got to be more than 50 so I'll say 55% 55%
Starting point is 00:18:38 All right. Shannon is Mr. Positiveity. It's very likely there'll be an underdog in every game that's not the three stinky teams. Exactly right. Probably. We'll take a break very back. KSR. Last night a blown call changed a game. This morning the internet lost its mind. Starting point is 00:20:04 thing and we're still chasing it and we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth or are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person. Open your free iHeartRadio app. Search Learn the hard way and listen now. What's up guys? This is Clever Taylor the 4th. And on my podcast, The Cliverts Show, I'm bringing
Starting point is 00:20:45 you conversations about all kinds of stuff, like being an internet famous referee. We're in the middle of a game. This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me, he goes, A, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Quarterback on office blue of 42. Hey, rep, my mama want you to wave at her. What? Hey, Ms. Parker.
Starting point is 00:21:14 Listen to the Cliverts show on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast, Point Game is about defining the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin. Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
Starting point is 00:21:34 His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows. Without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall.
Starting point is 00:21:54 And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stopped by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers, why he got the ball. Like, you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah.
Starting point is 00:22:13 You figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. So, yeah, that was going to be my other question. So the dumps, are they in the city? Are they outside of this?
Starting point is 00:22:30 Because I would think they would stink. The one on, it's actually old Frankfurt Pike, not Varsallel, people are telling me. It's inside New Circle Road. So it's inside the city. So people that live close to it, it's got a smell. There are times it wreaks. So who lives? Are there their houses over there?
Starting point is 00:22:45 Not in that area, but you can still smell it close to well where we all lived over there in Laughleystown Road at the Applebee's and the Drake's that area right there. You can smell it at Applebee? Sometimes, yeah. I just heard of hers. Because there wasn't just Applebee's? I just thought that was the food. Shout out least on Applebee's on Miss you. Okay, so, all right.
Starting point is 00:23:01 Apparently, in Lexington, it's $60 a ton in Maysville, $15 a ton. But here's how they get you. Minimum one ton. Meaning you have to pay $60, even if you don't have $2,000. Can't just go drop off a little bag? You can't just drop off a bag. Now, in Herdsburg, apparently, you can drop off $2 a bag. So you could drive it all the way to Herodzburg and drop up.
Starting point is 00:23:24 and drop off $2. Or you could pay Lexington 60 like a ton. I also have a Harrisburg text. It was an entire trailer full of furniture, including couches, and it was $15 in Heronsburg. So a couple things about garbage real quick. A lot of people don't realize Martin Luther King was killed.
Starting point is 00:23:45 He was in town for a garbage worker's strike. Oh, he was. In Memphis? Yeah, he was there to protest with the garbage workers. and that was when he was killed. The other thing, you were telling me, because this is a question I wouldn't have known the answer to. Once you drop it off at the dump,
Starting point is 00:24:02 what do they do with it? Well, it's a landfill. They dig these big holes. They pour the trash in the holes, and they cover up the holes with dirt. So they just bury it. Bury it. So does it not, like, leak into our water supply?
Starting point is 00:24:15 Yeah, probably. They go to big lengths to make sure there's no contamination. Do we, they do? They do? You think they do that everywhere? You think every town goes to big links to stop? You can't let it get into the ground. The soil and water conservationist.
Starting point is 00:24:32 Remember that? Is that what they do? The thing we vote on that we tried to put you into office for? Imagine me out there being your conservationist. Would you be out there doing the soil and water? Of course. I'd be out there testing. Again, I'm just, I don't know the end.
Starting point is 00:24:44 Is that like what the EPA checks? Got to. Because somebody has to make sure you don't just like bury it. Seep into the creeks and the water system. Yeah. When you got the middleboro, did you have trash pickup or did your parents have to take the trash? Oh, no, no, we had trash pickup, but I've told the story many times on here, when they gave mandatory trash pickup in Whitley County.
Starting point is 00:25:05 That was when Whitley County started charging, I don't know what it was, dollar a month or $2 a month on taxes because they were going to make everyone in Whitley County have trash pickup. And there were people that didn't want it. And apparently at the meeting, oh, excuse me, this was. in Bell County. They were doing this out in the county in Bell County and somebody came to the meeting mad that they were going to start doing mandatory
Starting point is 00:25:29 trash pickup. And at the meeting, the person said, this is communism. Mandatory trash pickup is communism. Next door, there ain't no communist in Whitley County. And then he said, we is free. That's it. So in Whitley County for a long time, I guess you didn't have mandatory trash pickup. There may be places now where you don't have mandatory trash pickup. I don't know. I have no idea. I feel like it's, I'm for it. Just Shannon, go ahead and charge me to take the trash.
Starting point is 00:25:58 When I lived in Louisville, you didn't have to have it in Fern Creek. Really? You didn't have to have it. You had an option. I don't know what you would do with it if you didn't have it. When you say you didn't have to, yeah. Did you have to pay the tax though? But I bet even if you didn't use it, you paid the tax. Well, that's possible. I think you probably did. Like, you don't have to use public schools, but you pay for it. Yeah. Mike, go ahead, Mike. Hey Matt, I called in earlier about the prospective donor thing before Shannon shut me off. Well, finish quickly. Who's the prospective donor? I cannot say.
Starting point is 00:26:31 I cannot say who it is, but I just thought that, you know, you give them a lot of credit for being forward-thinking when, you know, you say the future of all this is, like, public-private ownership and partnerships, but when you have somebody come in and offer to give hundreds of millions of dollars and return for a split of the revenue and they're absolutely shut down and they cut off the goes. But I mean, first of all, hang on just a. A, I don't know that what you're saying is correct if you won't say the name. But B, who, that is a big decision.
Starting point is 00:27:02 No school in America has decided to give a portion of the revenue to a private individual. Now, I think it's coming. But when you say Mitch Barnhart should be forward thinking, I don't know that I necessarily want my public university sharing profits with a private individual. Now, maybe I will with that. I mean, that's a big deal. You're acting like that's just a normal thing to agree to. That changes the entire notion of what public schools are.
Starting point is 00:27:33 Yes, yes, it is. But I think I'm not upset about the not doing it. It's more about the unwillingness to proceed or even leave the door open. It's more like, you know, if you can tell that it's coming, I feel like keeping a good relationship and maybe trying to figure out what it could be would be a lot more accretive. than just completely shutting it down and basically. Yeah, well, I appreciate the call. I mean, I don't know the specifics of the situation.
Starting point is 00:27:58 You know, if somebody said, I'll give you $100 million, but you have to split all revenue from now on. I'm not saying we may never get to that point, but that is not an easy decision to make right. Do you see Barnhart going that route? Depends on what everybody else does. Somebody's going to do it. Yeah?
Starting point is 00:28:17 I mean, somebody's going to do it. I don't know if it's a good idea. Do I want, let's just say, let's say Ryan Lemon has $500 million. And he's willing to give $500 million to UK athletics, but he gets half the profits and he gets a final say on who the coach will be. Do I want Ryan Liman to have that? This is a public university. This is not like a private corporation.
Starting point is 00:28:43 This is not like Tesla or Microsoft or whatever. Do I want one person who's just because they're really? then gets to decide. I know that happens a little bit behind the scenes, but this would be official. They get veto power. Wow. I mean, that's a big decision.
Starting point is 00:29:01 And I could understand if I didn't want to be the AD that would be the first one to do that. If they're older, their kids inherit the ownership. That's right. Do their stupid kids get to pick the coach from now on? It's a tough question. We'll take a break.
Starting point is 00:29:14 We'll be right back. This is KSR. T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J., he'll make them pay. Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. Welcome back, segment sponsored by Cornbread Hemp. When I was at that Paris Town Fair, they had a tent.
Starting point is 00:29:29 Everybody was like lining up to buy the seltzer. It was the most popular thing. It was like the Fourth of July thing, the Cornbread Seltzer, they got raspberry, they got peach iced tea, they got all of it. You can check it out. Help you get your relaxation on a summer weekend. Go to cornbreadhemp.com. promo code KSR for 30% off.
Starting point is 00:29:48 Check it out from our friends at Quartz. cornbread hemp, Seltzer was the first place you could buy. It was at KS. Barr for a week or two. And now it's everywhere. I'm going to go to the phones. There's people who have information. I will note, Ryan, one of my favorite things that just started the Tour de France. It did start.
Starting point is 00:30:05 Okay. I'm not aware. It was great. Lance Armstrong still doing well in it. No, no. He's not a part of it. But he does the post game show. Oh, he does?
Starting point is 00:30:15 He's in media now. Yeah, he does the post game show. But it's great. Sit there and watch it. You can go in and out of sleep. Nothing much has happened while you were gone. There was a, you should look this up if you haven't seen it yet, though. In stage one, they have these like intermediate things along the way.
Starting point is 00:30:33 So like it's not just the final thing. They'll have little sprints along the way and you get points. Okay. And Shannon, you've got to look this up. These two riders in the Tour de France, they were going for it at the intermediate. And they were going all out. And they were on cobblestones. Oh, what they call them in Europe, cobbles.
Starting point is 00:30:50 And the guy passes the dude at the line, and he, like, jerks up to celebrate, and he loses control of his bike and crashes into the other guy. So they had just crossed the line, and then they crash into each other. Oh, my goodness. And the other dude looks at him like, what hell, man? You just... You need to see the videos. Get control your rear. It really wasn't his fault.
Starting point is 00:31:15 He hit a cobble, but he had just reached across. they like go quick and then reach across. And he reached across to celebrate and he completely lost control of his bike and just crashed into the other guy. You'd be really mad at the with the other guy. If you got past and then wrecked into. You got to know when you're on the cobble.
Starting point is 00:31:33 Got to keep both hands on your rig. Got to get through that before you start celebrating. He was not able to control his rig. Look at the video. It's pretty amazing. Now, which one of these guys did you say? Well, first, Joe is in Philly? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:44 So Joe, is there garbage everywhere? I don't see garbage everywhere. I missed most of that segment. I apologize. I was talking to a neighbor. I was called about Jerry, but I can answer, I think, any questions you might have about all of it. Well, what's, when is it?
Starting point is 00:32:02 How long has the garbage been piling up? So the strike started last Tuesday. It was Tuesday, July 1st. I think the strike started last Tuesday. And, yeah, so it's going on like seven days now. So what are you going to do if you get into like next week and it's not, it's not solved? What are you going to do with your trash? So I think I caught the tail end where you're talking about taking it to temporary places in Lexton.
Starting point is 00:32:35 I don't, obviously, I don't know what's going on in Lexington. So in Philly, any time of year when this isn't going on, there's six centers throughout the city. You can bring things to if you just want to get rid of them, if you don't want to wait for trash day. and it's free. You bring recycling, trash. I actually do it a couple times a month. So you're telling me they'll let you bring all your trash for free somewhere right now? Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:00 So, well, even on both normal times, so in a normal time, I have, at our houses, I have two pickups Monday and Thursday, Tuesday, and Friday, and you can take your stuff. If you don't want to wait for your day, you can take your stuff. for me, there's two different places within 10 minutes. You can take your recycling or your trash for free, and you just say, well, that doesn't sound like it's... And you just drop it off. That sounds like it would be that big.
Starting point is 00:33:28 But now, with this going on, they have those six centers are still open, and they have 65 additional centers that are, like, on, like, dead ends. I think they're trying to do them on dead end street. I'm going to figure it out. Oh, there's one. Yeah. Well, that sounds like... Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:46 They don't have as much of leverage as I thought. All right, I'm going to let you go. I appreciate it, Joe. I'm sorry. That's okay. You too. Sanitation workers are losing their edge here. I wonder why you can do it free in Philly.
Starting point is 00:33:58 I don't know. I would think there would be less space in Philly for trash. Absolutely. In a big city like that, we need to be more in Philadelphia. You know who we know is Tony Soprano. Yes, he would. I just started to rewatch. Wasn't he in trash management?
Starting point is 00:34:11 Yeah. That's a big mafia job. That's why I wondered with the sanitation stuff going on. Do they still have the mafia ties? Or has that been cleaned out over the years? I don't know. That is the big thing, right? Waste management.
Starting point is 00:34:22 Yeah. Which one did you say? I think of us, Justin. Justin, go ahead. You have answered to my question. I got good answers, buddy. First time, long time. Who are?
Starting point is 00:34:33 All right. So I worked in Louisville at a place called municipal equipment, which is a garbage truck dealer for 20 years. We sold and serviced everybody in Kentucky, Tennessee. So what happens is LFUCG, the Fay government, your garbage up in Lexington, takes it to a transfer station there on Manchester Road. They
Starting point is 00:34:51 contract that out to Republic Waste. Republic Lace takes it to the landfill. The transfer station is just a holding area, basically. Okay, where's the landfill? Where's the landfill? It's CKY out in Georgetown, north of Georgetown.
Starting point is 00:35:06 So all of Lexington's trash ends up in Georgetown? Yes. And you were talking, they put plastic mats, down underneath everything before they even set up lambshells so they capture all what's called
Starting point is 00:35:20 it's called effluent garbage waste juice yep so it captures all that stuff so much does a guard you said you used to play for there used to work in a place that sold garbage trucks let's before you give me the answer Shannon how much would you
Starting point is 00:35:36 guess a top of the line garbage truck cost 70,000 70,000 how much is the top of the line garbage truck 120,000 Ryan? $275,000. Mario?
Starting point is 00:35:50 80,000. I'm going to say one, I'm going to say 105. What's a top, what's the top of the line garbage truck? All right. You're looking at a front load garbage truck for commercial use picking up garbage bins. It's $450,000. $450,000. I actually work for the manufacturer now.
Starting point is 00:36:10 I travel all over the United States, fly everywhere, and work on brand new garbage trucks. what I do for living out. Miles with a trade-in. So how is like, like how does a town like Middlesboro afford a garbage truck? Because they wouldn't, I mean, that's a lot of money.
Starting point is 00:36:27 Normally they don't buy the front load garbage trucks. It'd be a rear-load garbage truck. Those would probably be about $2.50 for a big one. Even the cheap ones. But they still, they still find, yeah, they still finance them.
Starting point is 00:36:39 You know, it's usually a big process between buying a garbage truck and buying fire. equipment. Those are always who we go against because of fire equipment, you sit on the side of the road and everybody loves seeing that. Nobody likes seeing garbage trucks. It's the last thing you think of. Yeah, that's true. Until it's not picked up. Until it's not picked up. And then everybody's screaming and yelling.
Starting point is 00:37:00 Makes car for sense. Well, thank you. I appreciate the call. Those are good answers to our questions. See, Drew, you learn about life here on KSR. Learned to do expensive. Those things were I had no idea. I thought I had a good guess in. I thought rhyme was insane to say 250 and that was almost exactly. It's like you were in business. You think about a big city like Lexington, they've got 50 of those trucks running around the city all the time. Yeah, probably.
Starting point is 00:37:23 Well, it's been a very educational show. It has been. It really has. Chuck, go ahead, Chuck. Hey, Matt, two quick comments on Ponatowski from a molar guy. I've heard. You're a molar guy? So you're a molar guy, the high school?
Starting point is 00:37:38 Yep. Okay, go for it. Go for it. I've been watching him play for two years. I've heard some Tim Couchcoms and so forth. a different type of athlete. I see Panatoski be more of a corner outfielder or corner infielder if he goes baseball long term.
Starting point is 00:37:53 I think couch could have played small for, you know, for the cats. Secondly, they host, Moeller will host Trinity on September 5th at the College of Mount St. Joseph in Cincinnati. If you want to come up here, I'm sure. So tell me, so tell me what his, I mean, it's hard, I know, because, but give me an example. Like, if you were to pick a quarterback that he would. would that we would know that he most reminds you of. What would you say?
Starting point is 00:38:19 Not even in skill level, just in terms of how he plays. In terms of how he plays, I mean, it's not going to be the comp that people want to hear necessarily, I feel like. But I see a lot of Drew Barker. I mean, we never really got to see Barker. I feel like is a finished product. Ponatoski's strengths are he's extremely accurate and he's very cerebral. He doesn't make bad decisions. That's good.
Starting point is 00:38:44 We haven't had a guy like that in a while. Yep, and he's good at ball placement. You know, and that's what the NFL looks at now is ball placement. But, yeah, he's a very cerebral kid, though he can slow the game down in his mind. Do you give him a year like you said, Matt, and I think he's going to take over quickly. All right, good stuff. Thank you very much. Appreciate it.
Starting point is 00:39:05 That's, I mean, you got to be happy about that. First-hand observation right there. Yeah, so he plays trendy. He looks like you got excited. Is that a game you would go to? I think I would go to Mount St. Joseph. I've been there several times last. couple years. It's kind of a good little facility to have a big game like that?
Starting point is 00:39:17 Are you going to be as into all these, now that Josiah's gone, you're going to be into all these high school sports? Or are you going to like go back to living a normal life? Are you done with the Broncos? I am going to go like on Friday night. I'll go to like maybe the game of the week. Like we'll look at the schedule saying, okay, what's the big game? Dante and Al and go like, okay, Boyle County plays Lexington Catholic. Let's go to that one, you know, something like that. Okay. So you're going to be like you're going to kind of travel the state.
Starting point is 00:39:39 Yeah. This will remind me of growing up when I'd watch on the news. If Ryan Lemon was at your high school stadium on a Friday night. It was a big deal. Game of the week. That's right. So bring that back. You know, we did that during COVID. It was a lot of fun. It was a lot of fun. We picked the game that was the best in the state and we went. I really enjoyed that. Got to go to all those schools. The Corbin Douglas game especially was a lot of fun. That's a college game. We went to, uh, where, well, we went to Simon Kitten. Like, it was a Bardstown game. Wasn't there like two Bardstown schools playing each other that
Starting point is 00:40:07 were good? We went one time. That's right. We sure did. Well, you did play by play for somebody or color comicalers. I did it for Boyle County with that one. I remember seeing Pikeville's facilities that felt like an NFL when they played Belfrey or whatever. And then there was, it's Catholic once. So that was a fun. For Thomas Highlands. We go up there one time. Yep.
Starting point is 00:40:27 Yep. That's we did. Tell me about Stock to mortgage. Stock to mortgage. You know what? Stock to mortgage. They help you close on a house. They help you go home.
Starting point is 00:40:34 That means guidance, support, and loan options build around people, not cookie cutter solutions. Buying a home can sometimes feel overwhelming. But not when you have stocked and mortgage in your corner. Their team makes things simple. and human. No jargon, no pressure, just smart, real guidance. Give them a call. Visit stockton.com. Stockton Mortgage, NMLS 8259, Equal Housing Lender, NMLS Consumer Access.org. Back to you, Matt.
Starting point is 00:40:56 One person writes, Matt, tell Shannon. He used to be one of my favorites, but his Philly trashing was harsh. Philly is an acquired taste, but it has great food, great bars, nice area, and we are Philly, and we don't care if he doesn't like us. I don't care what you say. It's a trash town. It is. I've been there.
Starting point is 00:41:13 I've been there two times. That's two times too many as far as I'm concerned. It's odd to me you have such anger. I can't stand the Philadelphia Eagles fans, first of all. But why? Aren't you a Packers fan? What's like to do with Philadelphia? But that's not a natural right.
Starting point is 00:41:27 Like, why would you choose Philadelphia fans? I just don't like them in general just because their fans are awful. The worst of humanity. Worst of humanity. They are. Wow. Name me a word. Okay.
Starting point is 00:41:38 They were on Bobby Bones list last week, weren't they? Worst fan bases? Yeah, but we were number one. Yeah, well. Who's wrong about that? He is wrong about that. But you've got to be careful. It'll make you mad if you say.
Starting point is 00:41:50 We'll take a break. Get right back. Let's ski us on. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending. Opinions are flying. And nobody's telling you exactly what happened.

Starting point is 00:42:58 I'm talking, Tripp Fontaine, Ryan Clark. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing. And we're still chasing it. And we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross,
Starting point is 00:43:19 because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth, or are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person. Join me, Kear Gaines, as we have real conversations about healing,
Starting point is 00:43:35 growth, fatherhood, pressure, and purpose on my new podcast, learn the hard way. Open your free, our heart radio app. Search learn the hard way and listen now. What's up, guys? This is Clever Taylor the 4th. And on my podcast, The Cliverts Show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff,
Starting point is 00:43:52 like being an internet famous referee. We're in the middle of a game. This linebacker walks up to me, he goes, Hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Time out. Quarterback on office, Blue, 42. A rep, my mama want you to wave at her.
Starting point is 00:44:10 What? Hey, Miss Parker. Listen to the Cliverts show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defining the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what.
Starting point is 00:44:36 He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nasree.
Starting point is 00:44:57 He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers,
Starting point is 00:45:13 why he got the ball like, after you go through a training camp with that Isaiah, you figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. All right, so we have another great Ryan Limman moment
Starting point is 00:45:33 during the break. All right, so if you go to Twitter, I just retweeted John Robic's hair. And he did a picture that says, I'm so hyped about this donut eating contest with Ryan Lemon. And he puts a picture of Ryan Lemon eating donuts. And Shannon, it's pretty clearly AI. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:45:54 I mean, I knew that. First of all, Ryan's not that fat. No. It doesn't really look like it kind of does. It looks like a version of him. Yeah. The one of the left's really bad. But it doesn't look like him.
Starting point is 00:46:06 But it looks like a version of him. But here's what's amazing. Ryan thought it might be him. Especially the picture on the right where it's just me and two donuts. That looks like me. You thought this was you. Yeah. He fell for AI of himself.
Starting point is 00:46:20 But it's you. How do you not know that's not you? Because it looks just like me. I got that hooting-in-the-blow-fish shirt. But it's not you ever doing this? Not that I remember. I mean, you fell for AI of yourself. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:34 The only thing it threw me off was I don't have that watch. And my wedding ring was black. I didn't have a black wedding ring. But I do have that hooting-the-blood. fish t-shirt. My hair, the hair looks the same. I think Ryan could be talked into like committing a crime
Starting point is 00:46:48 based on an AI picture. Like that might have been me. Like, do you imagine him on the witness stand? I mean, okay, so I'm looking at it. Those are your glasses. Yeah. That kind of is your hair. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:59 Yeah. But it's clearly a. It's fatter. It's fatter than you. And how could you not know that wasn't you? You know you've never been in this situation. Have you ever said? Have you ever sat in front of a table of 25 donuts and eating them?
Starting point is 00:47:17 No, yeah, not that picture. Well, no, it's not that picture. But the picture of me and just two donuts, I can see that probably being real. So you think that was a fake picture and the other one was real? Yeah, that's what I'm going with. I mean, Shannon, he. God, Ryan. This is Ryan Limit.
Starting point is 00:47:33 People say, oh, Matt, you get frustrated at Ryan Limon. Ryan's friends were able to say, Drew, this is not Ryan Lemon, but Ryan himself. thought it might be right. Wasn't really for sure about that. Did you just think that you ate 20 donuts and forgot about it? Into a sugar coma? Can't you see me the other picture eating two donuts on a plate bad show? Both of these within a millisecond, I realized they're not real.
Starting point is 00:47:56 One doesn't even look anything like you. He has a comeover. I cannot believe. Okay, again, you want to know how people fall for things? Amen. Ryan Lemon fell for a picture of himself. You know, uh, I think it was Channel 18
Starting point is 00:48:13 did a new story of the jury duty scam I almost fell for like some lady did and lost a bunch of money yeah and you that could have been you
Starting point is 00:48:21 could have very easily be me could have done a story about you I will say he's at least he's sniffing it out he didn't fully get scam
Starting point is 00:48:30 there and he's now convinced that this is shaking his head that can't be me because that's not my watch you don't have an Apple watch I don't have an Apple watch he knows it's not him
Starting point is 00:48:39 not by Shannon oh his face. Yeah. That looks just like me. Or the situation. How can AI put a hoody in the blowfish shirt that I have, that exact shirt? Well, first of all, when you say AI, there's not a person that's drawing it.
Starting point is 00:48:53 And it says who, oh, e, blah. Yeah. The letters aren't even right. John, go ahead, John. John. Yes. I want to be an optimist, not a pessimist. I'll give us 50-50 on the season.
Starting point is 00:49:17 going six and a sad song for you to listen to from Keith Whitley since you're a fan is called I Never Go Around Mirrors. Boy, just that title seems sad. All right, I'll look it up. I appreciate the call. That title seems very, very sad. By the way, it was a good night on Manchester Street the other night for things Matt likes, even though I wasn't here.
Starting point is 00:49:44 OVW was at Manchester Music Call. And the Bill Taylor Band was at the Burrell just down the street. Bill Taylor ban. I wasn't going to be in town or else I could have gone to both. It looks like a good OVW turnout. Bill Taylor called into the show last Wednesday. We did. We had the haven't.
Starting point is 00:49:58 We had the heathens. They were literally right down the street from each other. And I didn't know either one of them were going to be there until I'd already made other plans. Walking distance of your front door. I know. And I didn't see it. Sean, go ahead, Sean. Yeah, Matt and crew, a great show today.
Starting point is 00:50:13 Thank you very much for all the different incitement of garbage or inside of garbage. Thank you very much. Calling about the, yeah, calling about Matt Pottaski. I live in the same town as he does and grew up with his mom. His mom is a Hall of Fame athlete, very, very well-rounded player in high school as well. But as you guys both, as everybody has picked out, he's a two-sport, Gatorade player of the year, which is very, very rare, and he's only a junior, which he has a great opportunity to win that again next year. and I agree with the caller earlier for Mueller.
Starting point is 00:50:51 He sees things sports-wise in slow motion. He's just a different level player, and the excitement around him for Kentucky football should be way, way higher, hopefully. And I would compare him, and don't laugh at me, Matt, but he's Joe Burrow-like. I mean, he puts the ball right on target. Why not? He's amazing. Joe Burroughs from Ohio.
Starting point is 00:51:16 Let's just take it. I'm sorry, I got to cut you off, I appreciate it. But there you go. Joe Burrow-ask, I'll take it. That's what I want to hear. Joe Burrow-esque, I like it. Why not? All right, a couple things.
Starting point is 00:51:27 We're going to do the donut contest on Friday. Interrupted by Matt Jones. We will be taping an episode this afternoon. Look for it later this evening. We'll do, that's the news with me and Billy and Drew. And then the rest of the week we're here. We do not have a public remote because the remote will be at your house and is not open to the public.
