I was just telling Ryan, I got another floater.
These floaters are the worst.
had one in my right eye
and now I got one in my left
I guess my left eye was lonely
it wanted something floating with it too
but it's made it's made it to where
you know I told you I had the one in my right eye
and after like a month
your brain stopped seeing it
which is amazing like well
he used this example
your nose yeah
like you can see your nose
but your brain
tunes it out so all of you can see
your nose but your brain has
has learned to
just ignore it. So these floaters, the one I had on my right eye, for like a month I could see it,
but over time it was there, but you just, you don't notice it. Now I got one on my left eye.
I do notice it. They say over time the same thing will happen. But because the left one's there,
now my right one is reminding me, hey, I'm here too. So you see it too. So I've got two floaters.
And it looks like I'm looking through glasses that need to be cleaned. And there's really not a lot
you can do about it. You just got to hope your brain ignores it one day.
Gotta stay symmetrical, you know? Might help you out a little bit.
No, I mean, it's clear my left eye was lonely. It's like, oh, the right eye has a friend.
I remember the last time you brought this up, the ability to see your nose. I spent the rest of
the day just looking at my nose. I couldn't stop it. So now that you reminded me of this again,
here we go again. Yeah. So if you, yeah, now that you, if you start focusing on it,
Mario, start focusing on your nose and you'll see your nose. Then if you're not careful,
you'll see it for a while.
Then at some point your brain just tunes it out and you don't see your nose.
There's a lot of stuff like that.
Like your eyelashes.
Sometimes some people, their eyelashes, they can see.
But your brain learns ignore the eyelashes.
So it'll do, hopefully, it did with my right eye.
They told me eventually it'll stop, you'll stop noticing it.
And I did.
But now I notice it because the other one,
there and they're both like, hey, we're a party now.
So hopefully over time I stopped noticing it as well.
Just get that cataracts.
Yeah, they did say, like the only one way to get rid of it is at some point to have,
they suck all the gel out of your eye.
I can't, I can't.
And then they give you cataract surgery.
And he was like, one day you're going to have to have that.
He was like, your prescription's so bad.
He was like, but there's an argument that maybe you do it sooner so that you get rid of
because he was like, these floaters are going to just keep coming back.
They do.
Because he said your prescription's so bad.
that, I don't know, your eyes stretched and little things break off.
There's no way to stop them from coming.
No.
And it's not like anything happened.
I actually got the second one during this show yesterday.
I was standing here and I was like, what's happening?
And then it was the exact same thing that had happened to me a couple years ago when I got the other one.
And so, you know, I immediately went to a doctor because I was like, I know what this is.
And then they tested it.
That's what it was.
So there you go.
Mr. Floater over here.
Mr. Floater.
If you get them.
when you notice them like I do now, it really is annoyed.
It's really annoying.
You see them now in both eyes.
And they literally float.
So like you can't even like they just move around and it's, you know, it is what it is.
It's hard.
If you've never had one, well, if you never had one, it's hard to explain.
And it's the worst in the light.
So like if it's not very like when the lights are down, I mean, you can't really tell.
I've had them.
In the sun, you've had them.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
Did yours go away?
Well, maybe my brain just ignored it, but I don't notice them now.
But I notice, like, if you look up, like, if you're outside, you look up in the sky,
that's when I noticed them the most.
I guess that's when it's the worst is in the sun.
Yeah.
Like, if you're in the sun and you look, that he's exactly right.
A white background, that's when it's, that's when it's the worst.
They stink.
A 59-280-2287.
All right, couple, you know, we, we have to do this every once in a while,
these, like, pieces of news about the future of college sports.
A bill has once again.
brought up to regulate college sports in Congress.
The difference with this one is this morning, it was said that this one would certainly pass
the House, okay?
This is a bill, I guess, but, so there's pros and cons of that.
It would certainly pass the House.
The House had really not taken an interest in the college sports.
This one would pass the House.
It's pretty much all a Republican bill.
The positive of that is it will pass the House.
the negative is it will not pass the Senate
because in the Senate you have to have 60 votes
on everything but the budget.
So without some Democrats, it won't pass.
Now, do I now, but if it passes the House,
maybe they can alter it in the Senate, we'll see.
But from what, again, I have not read the bill,
so I don't even know what it says.
I don't know if it's a good bill, a bad bill, who knows,
but it at least looks like there is a bill
that is poised to pass one of the houses.
what this does say to me whether or not this specific bill passes or not is.
The people, now that the budget's passed,
the people are saying regulating college sports,
the representatives is important.
And here's my view.
It's got to happen this year.
We've talked about this.
It's got to happen this year.
There's a lot of momentum for it right now.
The old, I guess,
what do you call it, system that the judge approved, it's going to get challenged.
And they need a law to pass before that challenge, right?
So they need to do this in the next year.
Because by next year, they're all going to be running for re-election.
They're not going to care.
This is a big time.
And at least this is step one, Drew, in getting some regulation coming.
So is this a step that's good for timing or were you mentioned that it's all Republican?
Well, that they get held up on.
all Republican is a negative in whether this specific one will pass,
but it does say that there is an appetite to do it.
My guess is they pass this.
The Senate passes a bipartisan one and they look at the House and say,
you got to do this.
Because that's probably what's going to happen.
But again, you never know.
But that's probably at some point.
Also, Donald Trump, you know, he is popular in a lot of states where college sports are big.
Right.
And he's probably going to say, do it.
and when he says that, the Republicans do it.
So if the bipartisan bill passes,
my guess is Trump will say do it,
and then it'll probably get nothing.
Nothing seems to happen in Washington very fast,
but this one is very slow.
But yeah, this one's something.
Another thing I thought.
Don't we have a Kentucky guy kind of leading it to?
Guthrie?
I saw his name in the story I read.
I didn't know he was in there, was it?
Okay.
Well, he's in the, he's head of that one committee,
so that would make sense.
Second thing, the Big 12 had their media
days yesterday. I found this very interesting. Six different coaches in the Big 12 came out in their
press conferences and affirmatively said, we need to make athletes employees so we can collectively
bargain. Here's why I think that's interesting. Some of these coaches were like Mike Gundy,
who five years ago was saying nobody should get any money and now he wants to make them
employees. But he recognizes something that if you listen to this show, I've been saying for five
years. You cannot have a salary cap unless you make these guys employees and collectively
bargain. It is against the law to have a salary cap unless you collectively bargain. I think
these coaches are finally realizing it or someone's telling that to them. And now they're all
kind of saying, you know what? Let's make these guys employees. So I think that's what's going
to happen. I think within the next three or four years, these athletes are going to be employees.
They're going to collectively bargain and you can finally get a salary cap.
that makes it more equitable, fair,
doesn't make it to just where the richest schools have the money.
It's what is needed,
but it's interesting to me,
these coaches are now seeming to come around.
This is something is going to happen sooner than later.
I mean, it seems like that's the only answer to answer all the questions
everybody has on both sides.
Do it this way.
It's the only way to do it.
It's the only way to do it legally.
You cannot say, I mean, sports have a salary cap.
Why?
Because they collectively bargained.
I heart does not have a salary cap.
Why?
They don't collect like until you collectively bargain,
you cannot impose a salary cap.
This is the way to do it.
And I think these coaches drew one a salary cap
because they want to make it to where
they don't have to pay all these players a zillion dollars.
And now that we're hearing them all be open about it
and send in front of the microphone,
I'm sure there are a few steps ahead of us
behind the scenes and they know it's here.
When I saw Mike Gundy say it,
who has been like the slowest person on all this,
I was like, well, this is clearly their message.
Yeah.
If Mike Gundy is saying it, then clearly the message is we've got a collectively
barred.
So I think that's actually a positive.
I think that's a good step.
I found it interesting.
Also, Big 12, they got rid of their preseason poll.
That's not nearly as important as paying players because last year, Arizona State was
picked 16th in the poll that they vote on this week.
Coach said we're not voting anymore.
Every conference has done that since the beginning of time.
Big 12 threw it out because they said it hurt them so bad.
So that's kind of a unique thing.
conference does preseason polls. That is very interesting. Very rare that they're not going to do that.
Finally, John Caliperi did an interview, which I thought was interesting. John Calipari says he's changing
his recruiting philosophy, Shannon. Wow. Okay. He says, I used to always say that I only wanted
seven or eight players. I've changed my mind. Now I'm going to take 12 and develop guys.
Genius. Wow. Why didn't he think of that a long time?
I'm a go.
I mean.
How does that make you feel that after all these years, he's now like, you know what?
I've had a brilliant idea.
Let's get some guys on the bench and develop them.
My brain is going back to that press conference after Oakland.
I think it was someone from the Harold leader asked he's going to change his philosophy,
and he was like, absolutely not.
This is what I do.
I'm getting young freshman.
I'm changing families.
And I'm sitting there thinking, just please, just lie to us.
Just say something.
and now a year and a half later,
he's saying exactly what we all wanted to hear then.
By the way,
I predicted this too.
I said he's going to go to Arkansas.
He's going to change some of the stuff he does,
and we're going to go,
why didn't you just do that here?
And this is an example.
I don't think he was capable of doing it here
because it would feel like he was kind of pressure.
Yes.
He started fresh,
and now he's got a blank canvas,
and they're not going to push back or criticize or anything.
We would have been like, finally,
but in Arkansas,
he could do it a little easier.
It would be like, like,
Like if you were, I don't know, a president and somebody negotiated a deal that was the past president,
you got rid of it, then came up with the exact same deal and said, you see what I come up with?
That's exactly what John Calipery does.
I don't believe him.
I don't think he can do it.
Oh, you don't think he'll do it.
I think that's just coach speak.
I don't think he can do it.
We saw it.
He's so stubborn and he'll set in his ways about things like that.
I don't think he'll do it.
Well, we'll see.
He says, though, he's now going to take 12 players a year.
What was that?
A little something caught my throat.
By the way, speaking of take, go ahead.
No, I'm going to say that's always been the knock against Cala Perry, though.
You know, he just rolls the ball out there.
He doesn't develop players.
And now you're hearing.
Now he's saying he's going to committed to doing that.
The other interesting thing, I don't know if people are realizing.
Do you know how many scholarships were there in college football last year per team?
82 or something?
85.
85.
I don't think people realize.
that starting now it's 120.
Yeah.
And I would say to kids who are seniors in high school this year,
you couldn't have picked a better year to come to college.
Really?
Not only is NIL happening,
but there are, each school now has, you know, 35 more scholarships.
And they got to use them on somebody.
Yep.
This is the year to come out of high school.
There are going to be more scholarships for kids.
coming out of high school.
I saw Central Florida already has 37 commits for next year.
Oh, my goodness.
37.
So just be ready.
There's going to be a ton, ton of kids who all of a sudden end up getting college scholarships that never had before.
Yeah, all those kids that used to be preferred walk-ons, now they get a scholarship.
And now you have a lot more chance to roll the dice on somebody.
All right, well, we'll throw this kid a scholarship, see what happens.
Does Josiah need to go back to Douglas one more year?
I wish you would.
I wish you'd get one of these.
A little free tuition, yeah, absolutely.
Yeah.
Justin, go ahead, Justin.
Hey, Matt.
You guys were talking the other day about which UK coach would make the best president.
He listed Mark Pope as being the best option because he was so smart.
And it reminded me at the time you guys were discussing who was smarter between Ryan and Donald Trump.
and I just wanted to say only one of those two has bankrupted at a casino, and here's a hint.
It wasn't Ryan.
Also, yesterday you commented on Carmine on the bear, and you were wondering why it was so sad all the time.
I don't know, maybe it's because his brother just blew his brains out and his mother's insane.
That's very sad.
That's very sad, but all those people were close to him, and Carmi is still the only one that seems like he's insufferable at all times.
Yeah. Well, and he was also mentally abused by his former boss at his restaurant.
And so was everybody in the restaurant industry. But I appreciate the call.
I still, though, it's like, you know, he's a lot.
Yeah. I watched the cat thing last night.
The cat cult thing. Do you watch it too? Was it good?
It's really weird.
Well, I would think so if it's a cat cult.
Yeah. I was a little let down. I don't know that it needs to be show homework. Did you like it?
I didn't really like it. I didn't really like it.
It does end in Columbia, Kentucky.
Yeah, I'll skip it.

Couple open lines.
Do you think Ryan can get this done tomorrow?
Yep.
Yep.
It feels like everybody's gone from no one thought he could to now everyone thinks he could.
The Ryan Lemon sitting next to us right now is not the Ryan Lemon.
that was here yesterday or the day before.
Did you not think that we were going to get that amount of money?
No way.
Not even close.
What did you think it was going to be?
$500.
See, I thought, I thought, I didn't know if we'd get $5,000, but I thought we'd get a couple of them.
So you wouldn't have done it for $500, though, but you would have done it for $5,000.
Is that what you're saying?
I still would have tried to get the $500.
A little more motivation when it's $5,000.
Of course, yeah.
Well, I mean, you should be.
It's going to be, you know, it's going to be good.
By the way, I'm doing another interrupted by Matt Jones podcast this afternoon.
So be watching for that tonight.
And then it airs tonight at 6 o'clock.
What are the vibes that you guys are hearing?
Because I've heard a few.
But what are the vibes, Drew, you're hearing around UK basketball as they continue to these workouts?
I've actually heard a lot of the things about Colin Chandler,
which is part of my confidence.
Have you really?
Yeah.
So it's not just like bravado.
You've actually heard.
I mean, some of it as me just want to be right because I thought this really the moment last season ended that he has the potential.
But now hearing that it's looking good is just adding to my excitement.
I heard a lot of good things about Aberdeen too.
I mean, he's kind of, we kind of think we know he is, experienced guy coming in, can play defense, got a ring on his finger.
But I think he's even looked a little better than some people expected in the few conversations I've had.
and the freshman Hawthorne.
This is more just...
I haven't heard anything about it.
This I haven't really heard anything,
but this is just watching the clips that they put out.
And I know, you know,
when you're playing 5-1-5-1 team,
he's got to have bodies,
but it looks like he's been pretty active
and being a big part of their scrimmages, too,
and the few clips we get.
Yeah, the...
I still am to the point where I have to do the thing,
Shannon, where I have to figure out who's who.
Yeah, yeah.
Like their faces.
This is a hair team.
Yesterday I had to pause it.
Because it's kind of blurry.
They have a lot of hair.
A lot of hair.
There's a lot of hair.
And so, you know, I have to sit there and go, okay, which guy with a lot of hair is that?
But, you know, you get, I've heard really, really good things about Diabate and about Aberdeen,
which isn't a shock because those are two older guys.
But I've heard, like, I've had people say to me, you know how Oway last year kind of became
the fan favorite, even though.
maybe at the start of the year, nobody would have projected that.
Nobody did.
I think that's kind of what I hear that Diabate is going to be like here.
Well, you know, Diabate and Aberdeen, two of the best dudes coming back in the SEC.
They both decided to come to Kentucky.
I mean, that alone should make fans excited knowing they've got these guys.
And Otega may be the third guy best in the SEC.
What do you think about the fact that the first big game of the years of Louisville?
I both love it and hate it.
I hate it compared to how it's before the football season.
or before the football game.
I hate that.
I like having it around Christmas
because we get to ruin Louisville's Christmas every year.
It's like our own little package to ourselves.
We get to just spoil Louisville's holiday.
But it does just get right to the point with our team.
I like that.
I'd prefer it to be later this year especially because they're very unlikely that of Quaintance.
In fact, I think Louisville scheduled it because they're afraid of Jaden Quaintance.
If you're playing in December, you're more likely to have him.
So I hate that.
But I kind of with excitement for this team,
if they were to just beat Louisville right away,
I mean, that would be a great start to the season.
I don't like that.
though if you lose that it's just oh it puts a bad taste in your mouth to start the season
i don't like it i don't like it all i yeah i don't like it because i i i think it the louisville
like i feel like early in the year i love the champions classic early because it's a really good test
but it doesn't really matter right little game matters the louisville game matters so i like having
it to where you get this early season game against a good team you kind of get to see where you are
Last year we beat Duke and it kind of got everybody excited.
At the same time, though, if you lose, okay, so what, right?
Like you move on.
With Louisville, that hangs over you.
Yes, it does.
Even as it goes on through the year, right?
So then let's say you beat Michigan State and the Champions Classic the next week,
which is when it is.
Then you go and you beat Indiana and you go and you beat Gonzaga.
You're still going to have the way you lost to Louisville.
And so I don't, I like it in December because you've already established who you are going into the Louisville game.
And it's not as, you don't have as likely of a random result.
And I don't like the fact that like Louisville could beat us and it's a random result.
I'm with you 100%.
I don't like it at all.
I would rather it be at noon on the December 23rd before Christmas or that week between Christmas and New Year's not the most great thing we like.
But I think it's much better than playing early in November.
I don't like it at all.
And you know, you're going there.
I mean, you're playing a true road game early in the year.
I mean, this is going to be probably, Shannon, your second game of the season, maybe your third.
Yeah.
If they had to move it, I would have liked to play it like, you know, maybe in mid-February.
Well, that's what I want to do.
I mean, Louisville's playing Baylor in mid-February.
That's a non-conference game.
Yeah.
That's what I'd like to do.
I've always believed that you've heard me say this before.
College basketball screws up by not taking the first.
first Saturday after the Super Bowl and making it a power day of basketball.
Power day of non-conference games, the first Saturday after the Super Bowl, and just make it wild.
And that's when Kentucky should play Louisville.
They should schedule it were the biggest rivalries in college basketball that day.
Duke Carolina play that day.
Kentucky Louisville play that day, right?
Yukon, St. John's play that day.
They're just pit.
Robbery week.
Robbery.
Just pick it and then pick it for that.
first Saturday after the Super Bowl. Yeah, for the, for the rivalry in the game, it needs more attention.
No one outside of the rivalry is really going to care. I don't think at the beginning of the season,
football will be. I mean, the only thing is it is like a Tuesday night. So maybe there won't be
anything else on. I think that's probably the argument. And this year specifically, you know, in the past,
obviously Kentucky's dominated the basketball a little more than the football. We won like 17 out 18 or
whatever it is. But this year, if you win the basketball, then lose the football in a few weeks later,
Louisville has the most recent victory and the bragging rights for almost an entire year
until you can avenge it next season.
Whereas basketball you've always had second.
Against the good teams, you go at Louisville, Tuesday, November 11th.
Then you're in the Champions Classic Tuesday, November 18th.
And then you got North Carolina on a Tuesday, December 2nd, and then Gonzaga on Saturday,
December 5th.
So by December 5th, you're going to have played four of the best teams you're going to play on the schedule.
So, you know, it's just, it's very front-loaded.
So you got to come out of the gate, we're ready to go.
We'll take a break.
Be right back.

person writes, Matt, are you still doing the 52 books in a year, one book a week?
I am, I'm slightly behind.
I guess I should have by the calendar 27 right now.
I think I'm at 22, but I'm off next week, so I'll put four or five away next week.
Yeah.
And then we'll be close back to back on schedule.
You start going some Reds games.
Take your books with you.
Catch up on your reading.
Yeah, Reds won yesterday.
They're back.
I've got to win four more in a row to hit your five.
They hit four in a row to go five and two.
They were embarrassing in those first couple games against Marlins.
But they won yesterday.
Andrew Abbott made the All-Star game.
That's good.
He's been awesome this year.
Yeah.
Fat Damon.
He made the All-Star game.
That's good.
That's good.
You got a lot of books ready for the vacation?
Yeah, I'm reading.
Well, I just finished a book called Colored Television.
I just finished Anthony Bourdain's first book.
Oh, I've read all his books.
I was going to read his second one.
I'm reading a book.
called the vegan, which isn't about being a vegan.
It's like a novel.
Did the bear get you in the mood for Bourdain?
You know, actually it was more like reading as we're doing these restaurant renovations.
I was like, you know what?
I should read something by somebody who's ever run a restaurant.
You know, because we kind of skipped over that part when we started.
Yeah.
Like how you, I don't know, like how you run a restaurant.
Did you ever even been in the back of a restaurant?
Um, no, I don't think so.
I don't think so.
You know, I mean, I never had like a dream of owning a restaurant, but I will say this.
It is so much harder than you think to run loose.
Like, I have so much respect for people who that's the industry they live in.
Oh, yes.
I mean, first of all, making money from it, your margins are so small.
So, like, everything has to go right.
But then the chaos, I mean, you all see, the chaos of a game day, a chaos bar.
But I think I learned this from Bourdain's book, and I've even seen this from the people that work there,
they almost get addicted to those moments of when it is so busy and it is just coming in and out.
And you're giving food.
And it's just bam, bam, bam, bam, bam, bam.
I think they get addicted to those moments.
Like it's almost like a high, like playing sports.
like playing sports for people.
Like they, I know in our restaurant, the cooks and the managers and the servers,
they'd all rather be busy.
They like it less when it's not.
And you would think it'd be the opposite, Shannon.
You'd think if you were a cook, you'd be like, I hope nobody's here.
Yeah.
But they actually, they're getting paid the same.
They're getting paid the same.
But they actually, I think, enjoy, Ryan, those moments where it's like the energy's there.
Yeah, they get that buzz, that general in rush that they thrive on in that business.
So the crazier, the better for them sometimes.
And it's been the case at our restaurant that the busier we are, the better the food is.
Because I think people just get in that zone.
Uh-huh.
Yeah.
And they start rolling.
So Bourdain kind of talks about that.
Yeah, you get a little rhythm.
Can't get the teamwork going?
Start cheering, pumping each other up.
Yeah, they do.
They cheer like, it's like a little.
You got the fries down over there?
Yeah, I got your fries down.
I won't put your sauce up in it.
That's right.
Come run this food to table 43.
That's right.
I don't run it.
Yeah, so they get into it.
And then, you know, the servers, when we're busy, make a lot of money.
Oh, yes.
And when we're not, that's different.
But when we're busy, they can take in a massive amount of money.
So they, that's why they all want to work on the weekends of a game day,
because they know they're going to make a lot of money that day.
Yeah.
I never understand the people that want to work there.
And they're like, but I need my cater days off.
It's like, then why do you want to work here?
That was me at Malones.
Every Saturday.
Cats playing.
Like, that's the reason to work here is on the busy days.
Let's go to Jake.
What's up, Jay.
Jake. Jake.
All right.
He just wanted theoretically to call.
Joe in Philadelphia. Go ahead, Joe.
Hey, guys.
I knew when you put that GoFund me up,
Shannon would be in his feelings.
But what do you think about this?
You open it back up.
It's always tough to do something on behalf of someone else.
You put it back up and half the money goes to Shannon.
So now Ryan has that pressure.
than if another 5K comes in,
he's costing Shannon $2,500.
Why would Shannon get anything?
I mean, no offense.
Like Shannon didn't share it.
He walked 50 miles.
He's a boss.
But Shannon, he got paid for that,
and Shannon didn't share it with Ryan.
Ryan wasn't even there.
Yeah, shit.
Selfish.
Ryan wasn't even there.
Shathing.
Wow.
Well, all right.
So, yeah.
Shannon, I'm trying to get you money.
I know I appreciate it,
but I don't think Matt Tavin any part of it.
Yeah, one person writes here.
I believe it for you, man.
You earn that money.
I appreciate the call, Joe.
One person writes, I'm kind of tired of Shannon complaint.
$5,000 was good money.
He should be confident enough in himself that the money ride makes has no effect on the money he makes.
I don't like when Shannon whines.
It happens too much.
No, please.
I wasn't even whining.
I was just saying one thing is not like the other.
Oh, you're saying your accomplishment is more impressive.
Of course it is.
I could sit there and eat 10 donuts.
I could do that?
But could Ryan walk 50 miles?
I don't think so.
Yeah, Ryan couldn't have walked to 50.
No way.
That's my point.
Not a price of 10 donuts.
But I'm not confident you could eat the 10 donuts.
I am, but I'm not going to do it, but I could do it.
Yeah.
Well, I do.
He is kind of in his feelings.
No, I'm just telling you.
I knew it was going to be as soon as I put that thing up and there were literally,
there was like $550.
in it in four minutes, I thought, we're going to get a salty Shannon tomorrow.
And then Shannon's got to sit there and watching tomorrow as the cash flows in and the glaze
goes down his mouth.
Should we, you know, Mr. Beast, he puts a big pyramid of the cash right in front of
them.
They have to look at it before they do their competition.
Should we have the money in front of Ryan and Shannon, make Shannon stare at it?
Well, I can't take all that money out in case he doesn't do it and I have to return.
I've already collected.
Otherwise, I would go get the $5,000 from the bank and just put it in front of him to look at it.
But I have to be able to send it back.
And if I take it out, I wouldn't be able to do it.
I really think both stunts are very similar because I'm going to be in pain after the donuts just as much as Shannon was in pain after his walk.
I think they're both pretty similar.
I could have walked 50 miles and eating the 10 donuts while I was walking 50 miles.
Was there any point when you did those 50 miles that you thought about quitting?
No.
Never.
No.
It was more so about proving you wrong than winning the $5,000.
You are my motivation.
I like to make you wrong.
I love you, but I love to make you wrong.
Why is that?
I know you do.
Because you love to be right about everything.
And if I have control in a situation to make you wrong,
that really makes you happen.
It's a motivational factor for sure.
Yeah.
Okay.
That's it.
That's good to know for the future.
I want Shannon to do something.
I just have to make him think I'm wrong.
That's right.
That's interesting.
Well, everybody's motivated.
I've learned over the years.
That is what motivates you.
I knew that before.
Ryan is motivated purely by money and by making people happy.
You like to make people happy.
Absolutely.
And you like to make money.
And then Drew, I think, is motivated by senses of accomplishment.
By like, you know what I'm saying?
saying like you like to have a task complete it and be able to point out that that was a really
successful task whatever whatever that task is even if it's a small task like getting up in the
morning that's making my coffee that's what i pat myself on the back and then i think
Mario is motivated by like people saying they like something like when you do a video like you you take
comp, like, you love compliments.
I know, this is a positive.
When people, it's still nice to see you have the glow when someone comes up to you and says,
I like what you do.
Like, that makes you really happy, right?
Exactly.
And Billy is motivated by just wanting to make everyone mad.
Whether it's members of the show, like he's just, he wants to, you know.
What about you?
What motivates you?
You know, at this point, just entertaining people.
Like, it used to be building something.
Like, I really liked the fact that I built that website along with, you know, other people from nothing, right?
Built this show.
Yep.
From nothing.
Tried to build, you know, worked on rebuilding OVW, right?
Right.
Wrote that book.
Like all those things.
things that ESPN, as much as I enjoy it, I don't get that same sense of a comp because ESPN is going to exist whether I'm there or not.
But building something from nothing and then watching it flourish is what I really enjoy.
The restaurant too, kind of the same thing.
Yeah.
I mean, but the website to build that from nothing to being the biggest one and really,
the last one left.
That is a greater outcome.
I used to think what motivated you the most was
when people tried to tell you you can't do this or you
Well, that's me. That's what I was saying.
Yeah. I used to think Matt was the same way.
About little things.
Yeah.
But it was all, it's always like a big picture.
That's why people say, well, why would you
when I thought about running for Senate or what?
I always want to try something new
and build it to a success.
And yeah, if people tell you you can't do it, that's part of it.
Yeah, absolutely.
Yeah, without question.
And all of that motivation between all of us combined,
Mark Stoops has more and his pinky finger.
Dude, he's going to be so motivated.
What motivates him?
Bourbon.
You're going to be in trouble.
I'm going to leave that one for you.
We'll take a break.
We'll take a break.
I'm sorry.

From the WMBA standout, Kate Martin and rising hockey star Layla Edwards.

Like, it didn't make sense in my brain.

Quickly let's do
our draft Kings pick
of the day
you got the Reds
are they play
at 5 o'clock
before
I'm sorry
I thought you
won our picks
it's getting
a little sassy
here towards the end
of the show.
Maybe I'm not rooting
for you to get
this 5,000.
$1,000, you jerk.
They play the Marlins at 5 o'clock because there's an Old Dominion concert after the game.
Oh, I heard of advertising this concert.
Yeah.
Who's Old Dominion?
Is that country?
Yeah.
And the Reds don't lose on Old Dominion Day.
They never lose.
They're picking Nick Ladolo.
They're the favorite.
Who you got?
Who they play Marlins?
Marlins.
All Marlins.
All in on the Marlins.
No, Reds are going to get back on track after the two losses earlier this week.
I'm going to take Marlins.
I'm talking about.
I'll take it back. I'll take the Reds and I'll see that Ellie for a home run is plus 320.
I like it. Draft Kings. Ellie plus 320 home run.
I just made a Mario bet on draft Kings for him.
Yeah, you bet Brony 20 points?
Plus 800.
I mean, I'm throwing that money away.
Is that game tonight?
Yeah.
Brotty is not scoring 20 points.
I agree, but I'm doing it for Mario.
Stop.
Also, a little Rob Dillingham this afternoon over 20 points.
You got to stop my brawny, proddy.
Brody and Rob, over 20 each.
That stops.
What person writes, Matt, I heard a story once that I think motivates you for everything.
When you volunteered to work at every radio station and they said no.
That's exactly right.
Yeah.
Again, it goes to like people tell you can't do something.
Every radio station in Lexington and Louisville that does talk, I volunteered and said I'll do a show for free.
They all said no.
And then I said, well, then I'm going to have to be all of you.
Yeah.
And then finally one said yes.
a lot like two years later but what was his name uh dude over here at the station cutler's on
chris cross chris cross he told me you don't have a voice for radio you're not going to ever
be able to do it and i mean that's brutal and would you like to know what i said what's uh
i said to him i was like well you don't have talent and people listen to you oh my that's good
yeah if i remember the story correctly didn't you used to
listen to his show and win contests or call in?
No, that's the target owner.
Oh, I thought it was you.
He would call in and win every, every contest because no one else was listening.
Yeah.
He, like, won everything.
And they never seemed to notice.
It was him that time after time.
Because he was like, no one listened, so I'll call in and I will win every country.
So he would get like free dinner twice a week just from listening and winning all the
contests.
Go to Sam.
Go ahead, Sam.
Matt, I got the solution.
Go fund me back up.
and let Shannon in.
No,
Shannon's Ryan.
This is Ryan's thing,
man.
This is Ryan's thing.
No,
it's not.
Who ever eats the most,
let's take the money.
No,
no,
I appreciate that.
Shannon's not here.
This is Ryan's,
this is Ryan's thing.
This is Ryan versus his mind
and versus his will.
I cannot believe your girlfriend
has now flipped who she wants you to do it.
Well,
like I said,
it wants that money.
value start going up.
I'm more worried about talking to my doctor today.
Are you going to tell your doctor?
I think I might not.
I think I'll just get that.
You don't want their negative energy around you.
I don't know if your doctor scare you out of it.
I think it's very unlikely the doctor's going to encourage you to do it.
Yeah.
I mean, the doctor is not going to be like, you know what would be a really good idea
for you.
You go eat a bunch of donuts in the morning.
So you're not going to tell.
I don't think I'm going to tell her.
No, what happens if you...
She'll tell you like what could happen to your body.
She's going to scare you into it.
Don't do it.
Don't even mention it.
What if you don't mention it and just part of your regular appointment?
She's like, Ryan, we got to get your sugar down.
Then what do you do?
Oh.
Do you look her in the eyes and say yes?
No, no, no.
I mean, you take all this sugar.
It's like a last hurrah.
Yeah.
Think of it as like your bachelor party for sugar.
Sure.
And then on Saturday I can be sugar free.
Then starting Saturday, your sugar goes down.
I think that's a great idea.
You know, what happens in Vegas.
that what happens at the CNS pool remote.
In your backyard.
In your backyard stays at the CNS pool remote.
Now, I know sometimes Josiah is embarrassed of you.
Every day.
Is he embarrassed about this?
Oh, he has no idea.
I don't think he has any idea.
Will he be home?
He'll be in bed.
No, I think he's actually working tomorrow at Wild Eggs.
He won't be there.
So he's not going to be there.
He's not going to be there.
Okay.
All right.
So tomorrow morning, who all is going to be there?
Just us, Shannon and Billy?
I think some CNS pools, people are going to be there.
I think some I heart sales staff may show up, but that's it.
I'm getting the donuts at 9 a.m.
So they won't be exactly fresh, but not too bad.
That's okay.
That won't be hot.
We don't want that to interfere.
I think maybe if they're warm, it might help me.
Well, look, that's the best we can.
We can't deliver these to you at the exact moment.
We will come on at 10 o'clock.
We'll kind of get 30 minutes of prep.
And then you will do it from 1030 or 11 while Drew and I and Shannon and I kind of host the show.
then you'll be able to come back on at 11 and we will see how your stomach's doing.
You have 15 minutes.
Yeah.
The rules are very simple.
It all has to be in your mouth at the end of the 15 minutes.
It doesn't have to all be down.
What's in my mouth, though, I have to swallow it.
Eventually.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, you can't just, that would just be stupid if you could just put it all in your mouth and spit it out.
You got this.
And to everyone who donated, thank you very much.
That's so nice of you.
And to those of you that are nervous about it, like the ladies of KSR and my mom, it's going to be great.
And then once he has that $5,000, just think about how happy he's going to be.
Yeah.
Yes, I'm going to be very, very, very happy.
All right.
Thank you all very much for listening.
We will see you tomorrow, the Ryan Lemon Donut Challenge.
Remember next week, the Kittlaffamilia team will be on.
Myr and Metcalf hosting one on, and then in two weeks, we'll have part of my take doing it again as well.

the athletes themselves, their locker room stories, their reactions in the moment, and the stuff nobody gets to hear.
