So Drew and I are at the Swing for Soldiers charity event, golf scramble out here at the University Club.
We've got a lot to talk about.
I've got one of special guests getting ready to join us.
But who's this hour sponsored by Drew?
This hour is brought to us by our friends at Court Physical Therapy.

So we're joined, we're out here, like I said,
with the University Club.
It's the Swings for Soldiers Golf Charity event
as part of the Homes for Troops.
And we're joined now by a veteran, a hero.
Brett Bonderant from Lawrenceburg, Indiana,
one of the recipients of one of the homes
that was built through this program.
So honor to meet you, sir.
Honor to meet you.
Thanks for having me.
So you said you were a recipient in 2014?
2014, that's correct, yep.
And you are still a part of the event?
You come every year?
Yeah, this is year, I think, 12 for us.
The very first year, actually, my wife was pregnant with my oldest daughter who's here with us.
She'll be 12 in just a couple weeks.
So I think the very first year she was pregnant with her.
So, yeah, we've kind of made a stop here every summer.
It's been something that we look forward to.
And, you know, kind of as today ends, we already start the countdown for next year.
I recognize you from some of these in the past.
But tell us being a recipient, just the impact that had on you, you're a double amputee,
and they make these special homes to help you out.
I mean, what exactly did that look like for you and your family?
Yeah, so I was a young kid when I got hurt,
and I didn't really understand that there were things like this that even existed,
you know?
I don't remember exactly how it started,
but we had came back home or were on our way back home
and started talking through some various loan processes.
I was just going to build a house, and there was a guy locally.
It was like, man, you guys got to check out an organization.
I was still active duty.
I gave them a call.
They flew my wife and I up there,
in Taunton, Massachusetts.
We hung out for the weekend.
Called a couple days later, said they wanted to build a house,
and the process has just been super smooth sailing since then.
The people up there are awesome, just patriots and great people.
It's been a real pleasure.
And you built in your hometown of Lawrenceburg, Indiana?
That's correct.
Yep, born and raised in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.
We built there, and we've been there since 2014, so 11 years, 11 and a half years now.
So was it built accessible for your needs?
That's correct.
Yeah, yeah.
So, yeah, pretty standard things.
I mean, the doorways are wider, the hallways are wider.
All of the kitchen appliances have roll-enders.
All of the bathrooms are set up for me to maneuver in a wheelchair.
Yeah.
Yeah, you're from the Hoosier State.
You know, this is a Kentucky, Jacobs, Kentucky guy to tie it into our sports show here.
Where do you, what's your allegiance in sports?
I wear blue every day of the year.
At a boy.
But today.
All right.
All right.
I'm with two Indiana guys, both rock and blue.
No, no. I live in that little southeast corner, so we're...
Perfect.
We're only an hour and a half from here, but we're big Kentucky fans always have been.
I grew up wearing blue and white, so this has been a real treat for us.
What's it like being Jacob's buddy now, being out here hanging out with him?
I mean, he's one of the all-time greats.
Yeah, I mean, his athletic career kind of speaks for itself, but just the character of the man and his family and the team that he's built here, it's just, yeah, really, really special guy.
Now, you're one of the guys that come here and actually play?
I play or ride around with Jacob on the cart and drink all day.
So actually, it was one of the first couple years I rode around with Jacob and just took some swings with every group.
But because of this event, I started playing.
Really?
Yeah, I'm an avid golfer now.
That's awesome.
I play a couple times a week, and I love it.
Yeah, I've been ate up with it.
Did you have any interest in golf before getting involved with this organization, or is that what's put golf in your life?
It put golf in my life, yes.
So I grew up playing football, basketball, and baseball.
Never played golf.
Didn't have time for it.
and we were always busy doing everything else.
But, you know, we got in our retired at a young age.
And, you know, I think just as part of my step into the retirement community,
I had to pick up some golf.
Then I came down here with Jacob and fell in love.
You can tell on Jacob for us.
You know, he drives around and he's talking to everyone,
shaking hands, shaking hands, doing the fundraising.
Does he ever actually pick up the club?
Because he's good at everything.
Is he good at golf too?
Yeah, he can play.
He can play.
I didn't tell him I said that, but he can play.
Now, are you able to put into words, then what home for the troops has meant for you
and your young family as you guys were getting started?
There's not enough time of the day, really.
We can hit on it.
It has been so special for us.
I mean, you know, not just a place where I'm comfortable and at home, but it gives me the ability to be present for my children.
You know, we've created a family in the house.
they're still growing, but it's provided me with the ability to be a present father and a hands-on father,
the type of father that I like to be.
So it's been just really, really great for us.
Yeah, we could do this all day long, and we can talk about how great this organization is,
but it's just been really special.
Ron, I got to tie it back into sports.
I messed up.
I asked him if he likes the Hoosier cats.
I'm an idiot.
Dan here, friend of program, just showed me a picture of Brow.
doing the catwalk with Mark Stoops before a football.
Oh, my.
Of course.
I mean, really?
Yeah.
He's more of a Cats fan than us, maybe.
What game was that?
What was that like?
That was a great game.
It looks like it, I think it's at Murray State is what it believes it looks like around there.
Yeah, and what year was that?
Okay, so about four years ago, I flipped the coin for the Kentucky George game.
Did you really?
Yep.
Yep.
You're sandbagging on us.
That should have been the lead right there.
And not just any game, the Georgia game, too.
The George game, yeah.
Yeah, it was a really good.
for the cats. A really great year for Georgia, obviously.
Is that the year we went in thinking we had a shot?
That's correct.
Oh, yeah.
A lot of momentum for that one.
What's it like with UK football?
Obviously, you've done a couple things with them.
They've welcomed you in, too.
Yeah.
I'm sure you have a good relationship and had some phone of Stoops, too.
What's that been like?
We've had a blast with Coach Stoops.
He's an awesome dude.
He's had us around a couple times.
He's been out here a handful of times.
Yeah, right.
There's been a lot of other football staff around here.
All those guys have been great, man.
All those guys have been great.
I'm looking at pictures of you at the derby.
I mean, you're well-traveled in the sports world.
Yeah, yes.
This area of Kentucky, man, is one of our favorite places in the whole world.
Sorry, I cut you off of stoop's there.
Any good stoop stories that are radio-friendly?
I don't know.
He likes to have fun out here.
I've seen him out here a few times.
He's an awesome guy.
Yeah, he's been here a couple times, played some golf a couple times.
I think his brother.
I saw a picture of him in it last year.
Mike was out here.
Yep, I think that's right.
Yep, I think that's right.
I know the football staff usually has a couple guys down here.
awesome guys. Yeah, we've had a lot of fun with those guys.
So Matt Jones is our main host.
Loves the Cincinnati Reds.
Okay.
I see your forearm. You've got the Cincinnati Reds mascot tattooed on your forearm.
Yeah, we live 25 minutes away from Great American there.
So, yeah, we're big Reds fans, big Bengals fans.
Well, Matt always does a Reds update how he's feeling.
And as you can imagine, it's been a roller coaster every show.
Ryan and I never know.
Good mood, bad mood.
Where are you in your Red's journey right now?
Now, we joke it's the summer of Ellie.
It's either up, down, up, down.
Where are you in your Reds journey?
That's a pretty fair assumption, I think.
Yeah, it's a roller coaster is probably the correct term to use.
A lot of highs, a lot of lows.
A little inconsistent recently, but there's a good ball team in there somewhere,
so I'm looking forward to getting there.
So how are you feeling about next year's UK football season then?
I feel good about it.
Yeah, I feel good about it.
I like stoops.
Okay, our fan base needs to hear this.
So give us the good pep talk to get us ready for football season.
Let's get this optimism.
Good pep talk.
Well, I mean, coaching staff's great.
A lot of new guys coming in, right?
A lot of some returners who are going to provide some quality time.
I'm optimistic, man.
I'm looking forward to the, looking forward to football season.
Obviously basketball season as well, but be a good time.
It's a good way to wrap it up.
Thanks for talking to us.
Man, I appreciate it.
Very nice to meet you.
It was fantastic.
Thank you.
Put my mouth asking if you like the cats.
Heck, what a resume.
No kidding.
That's right.
Like I said, this is the only day of the year.
We were red.
We're a lot of blue and white here.
Grette Bondurant, one of recipients of the homes for the troops.
The reason they do this swing for the soldiers out here,
you were recipient in 2014.
Lawrenceburg, Indiana, come down every year to help ever since.
So, man, honor and a pleasure to meet you.
Awesome, awesome.
Thanks for having us.
Yeah, maybe we'll see at Kroger Field.
Yeah, I hope so.
Thanks for, thanks for being out of today.
This is a special event for us.
Homestar Troops has been wonderful.
This group's been wonderful, so we appreciate you guys.
Brett Bonderon.
Appreciate you joining us.
We'll take our break.
We'll come back.
We'll open up the phone lines, 859-2-802-2-28.
That's the Clark's pump-shop phone number 859-280-2287.

From the WNBA standout Kate Martin and rising hockey star Layla Edwards.

slash audio. Ryan, I've got the
eight guys who are in the home run derby
tonight. I just wanted to see if you
guys, you and Drew, could tell me
out of these eight guys,
do you know these
names? Are they recognizable names
for you? I'm going to embarrass myself. I'm going to go
0 for 8. I already know it. I know one.
No, yeah, Drew, you're going to know one because
he's a brave. So Matt Olson, we know
Matt Olson. He's in for Ronald.
The brave that just won two or three of my
Cardinals over the weekend.
Okay. There is Jazz Chisleman.
Junior. Have you ever heard of that
player? No idea. I have never heard of that
player either. Drew?
I've heard the name. I couldn't give you
a team, so I'm going to say I don't know the person. Okay, Junior
Camerero
is also in the home run derby
contest. Don't know that one. Nope.
Byron Buxton.
Don't know that one. I've never heard of that person.
That's not a real player.
He's plus 950 to win the derby tonight
on draft games. Brent Rooker.
You are making these people up? No, I'm not.
These are dudes that are painting.
Let me teams.
Where was Brian?
It doesn't say.
I'm just giving you.
I can't even tell you because honestly, I don't know these guys either, and I watch a lot of baseball.
Yeah, I don't know.
Brent Rook.
Okay, James Wood.
He's an actor.
He's an actor.
Very political on Twitter.
He is the third, I guess, favorite.
He's plus $4.50 to win the Derby.
Oh, Nile Cruz.
He's one of the Cruz boys.
That sounds like a baseball player, but I don't know him.
And then the favorite to win tonight, you might know this name, Cal Raleigh.
Oh, he went to Cal Raleigh?
What's his name?
Is that school?
His name is Cal Raleigh.
Have either of you heard of this guy?
No.
Okay, do you realize this guy is on pace to break Barry Bond's all-time single-season home run record?
He's got a nickname called like Dumpur.
Yeah, a big dumper.
The big Dumpur.
Nobody's talking about this guy, and nobody knows who he is, and he's got like 38 or 39 home runs at the
All-Star break.
Yeah, the big dumper.
I didn't recognize him by actual name.
I think we would have known because that's all everybody calls him, the big
dumper.
And his real name is Cal Polly.
Cal Raleigh with an Raleigh.
Okay, what team does he play for?
The Seattle Mariners.
Like I said, I've heard of him because I know he's on this record pace for
home run.
And he's a catcher on top of that, which is.
This is kind of what's sad about baseball.
I thought it was just in my own household.
Like, I don't keep up with MLB.
outside of my Braves.
But how is the guy chasing Babe Ruth?
He's nicknamed the Big Dumper, and this isn't a bigger story.
Yeah, I mean, I didn't even know who he was until maybe a few weeks ago,
and I started looking up the home run leaders, and I go, Cal Raleigh, started doing the numbers,
and I go, well, he's on pace to, you know, get close to Barry Bond all-time single-season record,
and I feel like nobody even knows who he is.
Nobody knows who he is.
It's crazy.
Well, like Drew said, it's a problem with baseball.
They don't promote these people enough, and, like, the home-run Derby needs to have Aaron Judge
and he has some superstars in it to get us involved and invested in these contests.
Even the All-Star game tonight is kind of like, oh, well, just the All-Star game.
I'm not really sure how they even pick who the home-running derby contestants are.
You know, I'm not sure if they go off of, like, the stats or what?
Because I don't think Matt Olson has the most in the National League.
I might be wrong about that.
But I'm not even sure how they go about it.
You would think Aaron Judge would be in there, right?
Yeah, you would think, or at least a player I've heard of.
Yeah.
I know Olson's a replacement for our boy Ocuna.
Oh, okay.
So that's how he got in.
That makes sense.
Okay.
But Acuna wouldn't be a leader.
He's been hurt.
But he was supposed to be in the home run derby?
Yeah, yeah.
All right, excited.
So is that tonight?
That is tonight.
Yeah.
Go games tomorrow.
Come on, MOB.
MLB needs a better marketing department.
They do.
And I tell you who else does NASCAR.
Those two sports used to be got so much more publicity.
People knew the drivers.
No, I couldn't name four or five drivers.
Yeah, I mean, the fact that Shannon just read seven of the eight
Supposed Best Home Run Hitters in baseball
And we only know one because the big dumper
We didn't know his actual name
And the one Olson because he plays for your brain
But Matt Olson is 34
I just looked it up like the top home run leaders for this year
He's 31st so I don't know how they go about picking
The guys that are in it
I mean there's you know 30 other guys by the numbers
That are better home run hitters than he is
But yet he's in the derby I don't know how they pick them
Kind of the same as the dunker
contest in the NBA.
Who are these guys?
Why'd they get here?
So, are you, if you guys watch it tonight?
Oh, yeah.
I just found out it's tonight.
Yeah.
Me too.
I'll watch it.
What else are going to be on?
Summer League games?
I've been watching so much Summer League.
If I told you all how much Summer League I've been watching, I think I'd actually be
embarrassed.
I think you'd be ashamed of me.
Well, let's get to it.
That's the topic I was going to do next segment.
Let's go ahead and do it right now.
Reed Shepard had, what, 28 points Friday night in the Rocket's Summer League game.
He did?
I mean, he's obviously proven why the Rockets did not want to include him in that Durant trade.
He's going to play.
He has one of the best games so far, but he played yesterday.
It didn't play that well.
He scored a lot of points, but he went one for seven from three, six turnovers.
Selfishly, I'm kind of glad he dipped a little bit because I was worried if he had another big game, they're going to pull him.
So now we get to watch a little more Reed Shepard in Vegas.
But he didn't have a great day yesterday.
Amari Williams has looked good for the Celtics.
Has he?
Numbers haven't been huge, but right away in the game
where Saltus fans were just going crazy about Amari.
Kobe Brea has played two games in Phoenix.
I just.
His first game, he went three for three from three to start the game.
I don't know their ins and out to their roster now
since there's been some trades and stuff, what their depth looks like,
but he could not have had a better start to Summer League so far,
it's our spot.
That's what I saw.
He had 15 in a game for James Coppin.
Also, Topin has been crazy good.
He's Atlanta's best player by far.
You know, we always see guys make a joke at the pros,
but I'm watching Topin thinking, where was this guy?
He's knocking down threes.
He's been one of the best players in all in Vegas.
A few more Jackson Robinson.
He's not even playing, is he?
Very little.
I feel bad for him.
He's coming back from an injury, and you look up and it's like,
oh, here's the NBA.
Like, there's no buffer game.
We didn't get a little more college.
It was just,
rehab.
I'm healthy. Go play Summer League, but he's been pretty
quiet for Cleveland.
Another name I see of Kentucky Connections.
He's got made a couple headlines.
Chris Livingston.
Playing really well for Milwaukee.
Rob Dillingham, another one from before the Pope era.
If he's not first and assists, he's at the time, he might be third.
He didn't like eight assists through his first two games.
He's been a lot of fun.
Carr and Butler are also out there.
haven't seen much of Andrew Carr, although he walked by the TV broadcast,
wearing a UK shirt.
That's all you tweeted that out.
And Butler's been hurt, so he hasn't played at all for the Hawks.
Butler's supposed to be Jacob Toppins' teammate, but he's been sidelined.
Is Butler's still the shoulder from?
They've just said Lamont Butler out.
They've been very specific.
They play again today.
It's actually Rockets versus Hawks.
Maybe he'll go, but I'm not sure since he set out the first two.
But you can't, the whole summer league, it's just cat after cat after cat.
You can just turn it on.
I've had two TVs going where we've got multiple cats in games.
Scow's playing in the Summer League.
Scow had a big game.
Who's he even play for?
The Magic.
His first game was great.
Second game, pretty quiet.
But if you need something to watch, Summer League starts about three every day and goes until you fall asleep,
it's hard to find a game without a Kentucky player.
I think he said the big storylines for his Kentucky fans are concerned.
And Reed had a monster game, and Kobe Bray has been maybe shooting his way into making the rock.
roster. Kobe and Amari are the stars of the rookies of the Kentucky guys. They both look to
be a great spot through just two summer league games and Reed's the future of the Rockets. He didn't
get the opportunity. He probably deserved last year as a number three pick because they were so
good. So they're using this as given Reed the minutes he deserved as a rookie. Sure.
And yesterday it was a little sloppy, but he's clearly better than anyone else on the court.
Shannon, you said we had a phone call? Yeah, let's go to Derek. Maybe you're taking a phone
Derek, go ahead, Derek.
Hey, guys, first time long time.
Derek, go ahead.
I never thought I'd been calling in my first time.
Can you hear me, all right?
Yes, sir, go ahead.
All right.
I never thought I'd be calling in to talk about donut eating on my first call, but here we are.
Have you guys heard of the Catina D. Jarnet, Professional Eater?
I do not know that name.
I just know Jimmy Chitwood.
I got you.
You guys.
You guys need to check her out.
She is a tiny little chick that can put away some food.
She ate 30 donuts, drank 316 ounce milks and 31 minutes.
So I just thought I'd put you on that if you want to check her out.
All right.
I appreciate it.
I'm looking her up.
She is tiny.
And she's a competitive eater.
Yeah, she's called Katina.
It's impressive.
Katina eats kilos is her brand.
guess. That's her name and her website. She's tiny.
All right. Appreciate it.
30 donuts. I don't even know where she would put those.
So this is on the Aviation Glass Tech Machine.
Yes.
Did you and Drew participate in the Lexington Burger Week and did you find one that you really liked?
I did not. I am retired.
The first Lexington Burger Week, some of our KSR followers may remember, I challenged myself to eat every burger in Lexington,
which on average was a three and a half per day.
And I accomplishment and I retired that year.
But it is a fun event.
And there were burgers all over town that looked good.
They were fantastic.
I partook in some of them, as you might imagine.
But my favorite one was yesterday,
and a spot you wouldn't think would have a great burger,
wild eggs.
It's like a double bacon cheese burger with an egg on it.
Nothing new.
But then they put a hash brown, like a square hash brown,
like you get from McDonald's, like a hash brown square.
It was unbelievable.
That's the best part of Burger Week.
Restaurants that don't serve burgers come up with burgers.
Come up with their own burgers.
So, I mean, you go to an Italian.
restaurant or wherever wild eggs you name it and they've created a burger for burger week so that is a
fun part but i did not uh participate i did salad week i'm i'm up a little bit so last week i did
a lot of salad uh kind of some more food news i'm really excited shan yeah you cut out i didn't hear a word
you said sorry i said macdonald is bringing back the snack wrap are you excited about that
i'm not really a big macdonald's guy it was what exactly is the snack wrap
It's like a little tortilla and it wraps around a couple like chicken nuggets and it's got some
lettuce and cheese and mayonnaise.
It's like it's the only thing is it's only like $3.
That's the best thing about it.
You tell me it's coming back.
I don't think I ever knew it existed.
I can't say I'm excited about it because I didn't even know it was a thing.
It's been going for like 10 years.
I'm surprised you haven't seen people celebrating.
People are losing their minds about the snack wrap.
The snack wrap coming back.
So why is it so like popular if it's just a couple of chicken nuggets wrapped up with lettuce and mayo?
I think because it's somewhat healthy.
It's cheap.
Compared to the rest of the McDonald's menu.
Yeah.
It's wrapping a tortilla.
Easy to eat on the go.
Easy to eat on the go.
It's cheap.
I don't know if I mentioned, but it's only $3.
And it's very filling.
So, Janet, you've got to go try the McDonald's snack wrap.
Well, I think what I'm hearing is a future Ryan Lemon eating contest.
How many of those you could eat in 15 minutes?
That's what we want to see.
I retire.
I have 100% retired.
Are you as excited about the snack wrap as you are the day?
donuts. That's what we want to know.
You just said out loud, my problem with McDonald's.
You said it's $3. It's cheap.
I remember the dollar menu.
Oh, yes, the dollar menu.
What happened? Bring that back, McDonald's.
McDonald's used to be cheap.
We'll take our break.
We're out here at the swing for soldiers golf event for the homes for the troops.
Ryan Drew and Shannon.
We'll be right back on Kentucky Sports Radio.

Ryan, Drew and Shannon here on Kentucky Sports Radio.
We're at the Swings for Soldiers of Inn
out of the University Club on Leastown Road,
part of the homes for the troops.
Shannon, very awkward moment for Drew and I
in the last couple minutes.
We're trying to get through it, but it's just very
awkward. That's all we need to say about it.
We don't want to elaborate on the air?
Like, what's on?
No, I don't.
I mean, like, no.
No, it's a, maybe we'll talk about it
at another day, but I just want you know
folks living, it's very, very awkward.
We're just uncomfortable.
that's all.
We're going to be okay.
It's not like White House uncomfortable.
True.
I kind of like awkward moments, you know.
You just got to learn to embrace it and, you know, don't make it.
If you make it awkward, it's going to be even more awkward.
So just play along.
Well, I've turned my body completely at a 90-degree angle away from the awkward incident.
And Drew and I are like having complete eye contact.
We can't make eye contact with anybody else.
We're good.
We just want you to know that we have that going on in the back of our brains.
Got you.
while we talk for the next 30 minutes.
Gotcha.
859-2802-287.
That's a Clark's Publishout phone number.
Who we got, Shannon?
Richard.
Richard, go ahead, Richard.
Hey, guys.
Good morning.
You guys do a wonderful job,
and I just wanted to ask a quick question or two
and hear your comment.
To see if you have any inside information
on exactly what day Yellowbeck will be arriving
from Croatia for the Cats basketball.
And then I would like for you just,
I'll just ask this and then get off and let you guys comment.
I want to know how you feel about the appreciating in the FCC conference this year.
I appreciate you taking my call.
I'm looking forward to hearing your comment.
I appreciate it, Richard.
As far as Yellovich goes, I don't think anybody really knows for sure when or if he's going to be able to come over this summer before school starts.
You know, Big Z didn't enroll until October.
So I'm not for sure what's going on there, Drew.
Do you know any other idea?
I don't know any specifics, but our guy, Phoenix Stevens, who covers the women team,
mentioned that a women's player in a similar situation just got cleared.
So I give us a little hope.
I mean, that's nothing directly related to him.
But at least you see that.
Maybe you're thinking they're getting their checklist.
True.
It's a good sign.
But as far as anything recent, any changes, anything brand new since we last talked about him,
I don't know of anything official.
I think they're still optimistic, and they need to get moving.
They know they need to get moving, but I don't have an update today on July 14th.
What about the officiating in the SEC?
I assume he's talking about basketball.
Well, if he's talking about football, I still haven't forgiven them for not counting the touchdown
last year against Georgia on the interception.
Yes.
But in basketball, and Pope has said this many times, they have to fix the monitor problem.
Yes.
That was not, I mean, that was a fun season last year, but these two and a half, three-hour basketball games.
have to stop.
So whatever they're going to do calling fouls
or how they called
the actual basketball, put that aside.
Figure out what you're doing with your
end of games and your stoppages
I think is their biggest priority.
And we don't need to go to the monitor five minutes into the game
when the ball gets kicked out of bound.
They make the call, go with that call.
You don't need to go to the monitor when the game just starts.
And there's no flow at the end when it matters.
Yeah, right.
When their game, there was like over three out?
Am I exaggerating?
We were born right at three hours.
There was that A&M Vandy game we were waiting on that just kept going and going.
Coaches are now they know it's coming.
They're using those monitor reviews as timeouts.
Cross the board in college basketball, not just the SEC, but mostly the SEC.
They got to get back to a smoother game and stop doing the reviews all the time.
Is it still happening?
It still happening a little bit.
Okay, I'm not looking.
I made eye contact, and I wish I had it.
That's why I'm looking at you.
Not turning and looking.
859-280-2287.
Shemming, anybody else?
No, lines are open.
Lines are open.
You want to call and get on board.
A couple other things we want to talk about.
The TBT tournament starts Friday here in Lexington at historic Memorial Cossium.
Our Kentucky team plays the last game on Friday.
I think it's scheduled to tip off at 9.
9 o'clock.
Probably be closer to 9.30, maybe even later than that.
This is kind of TBT week.
They all arrived.
They had a, what, a charity, all-star event?
on Saturday at Tate's Creek High School.
Saw a lot of familiar faces out there playing in that game.
That looked like it was a lot of fun.
Yeah, what's up with this DJ Burns guy we added?
Did you see this?
He had like 50 points.
This is the Kentucky charity game full of Kentucky Legends
and DJ Burns, who I'm sure is wonderful
and we're glad to have him participating in Lafamilia.
How is he scoring 50 at a Kentucky event?
50 points.
DJ Burns.
We need more intel on who DJ Burns is and where he came from.
Yeah, Mario interviewed him.
It's on Mario's, uh,
social media. I wish Mario's on vacation too.
We should mention that, but he went and attended that.
But it looks like old DJ Burns has been a nice addition.
But overall, it looks like a fun time.
Some of the guys that aren't law familiar, just Kentucky alums,
join them for a charity game, not just the ones playing in TBT.
But it looked like a great day.
Our favorite caller, Marcia, sent me a picture of her and Duran,
said your two favorite people.
In hindsight, I really wish I'd made it out there.
But that's just drumming up more interest in what's to come later this week.
Yeah, I saw Darius Miller go out and play.
saw Alex Poitris on the court.
Man, I wish he would play.
Dominique Hawkins played.
So there are some familiar faces that aren't on the TBT team
that are participating in this all-star charity event out at Tate's Creek on Saturday.
And today, right after the show, I don't think I'm going to be able to make it,
but they're doing interviews on campus with media.
Every player on the team will do interviews,
and then you're going to have them all later this week here on KSR.
So we did it last year where we talked to all of them.
I enjoy, I know they're here to preview the tournament.
I'm more interested in the old stories of the past
like we got from Willie and some of the guys
but that'll be ahead this week too.
So Wednesday we're supposed to have four guys on Wednesday
four different guys on Thursday.
And then they're doing that hour long special
with Jester and Shannon, right?
Jester and Shannon will be doing a big special
there. We're looking forward to that.
If we get Jesser,
Shannon, we have to have him on.
Well, we don't have to. We don't have to do anything.
We're running the show that day. We don't have to have him on.
I think we have to have him when. He's so popular as a YouTuber
Yeah.
I think.
And Shannon being a big fan.
Big fan of Jesser.
Does he get a last name?
Yeah.
The laser.
The laser.
The laser.
The laser.
The laser.
Okay.
The dude versus the laser.
I like that.
He did not play in the charity game Saturday, though, right?
He did not.
No.
I don't know if Jesser's here for his actual basketball.
I think they're tapping into Jesser's audience of teenagers.
Well, why wouldn't you if you had an opportunity to get that kind of exposure?
I think you would kind of take advantage of.
have a little bit.
I'm with Shannon, though.
I don't expect to see Jester taking anybody off the dribble Friday night.
Let's leave that to Archie Goodwin and the Harrison Twins.
Well, I think they start practice today.
Yeah.
So he's probably in town.
Maybe we can get him on this week for sure, but I think they start practice today
because they play on Friday.
All right.
Well, don't get anybody's way, Jester.
We're glad to have you.
Give us lots of promotion.
But let's let the cats be the stars.
I hope last year, I hope they do what they did last year,
where the current cats, Pope's cats, get to play the law of a million.
We have to be very careful on calling that a practice or a scrimmage.
So I'm not saying anything official, but if they were to be on the court at the same time, that would be pretty neat.
Yeah, we can't say anything about that.
But wink, wink, wink, that would be great if that wink, wink, if that happened, wink, wink, wink.
Yeah, Mark Pope's team shows up at a gym that TBT, Law Familia, happened to be at.
What they do amongst themselves is none of my business or the NCAA's business.
And we'll never go to talk about it.
But if that were to happen, we would probably agree there's a good.
good thing. That would be beneficial for both parts. Beneficial for both teams.
Because that something similar happened last year, and we even heard, was it Aaron Harrison
said that he followed this year, last season's Kentucky team more than any ever because
he had made those connections last time. He knew the players. He knew the guys. So maybe
they'll run into each other at some point. Maybe just accidentally be in the gym at the same time.
And play full core basketball together. And just maybe there might be an opportunity to
get some work for the TBT team. But definitely not practice. Definitely not practice.
Or a workout or a scrimmage or whatever the terminology we can't use this.
859-280-2287 is our phone number.
We've got a couple of lines still open if you want to call and get on board.
There is another store I need your big take on because I think it's captivating America.
Okay.
Livy Dunn.
You know Livy Dunn.
I don't know Livy Dunn.
I'm familiar with her.
You know of Livy Does.
She tried to buy an apartment in Manhattan.
It just so happened.
It was formerly Babe Ruth's apartment.
It's in this big, obviously, wealthy apartment building.
Upper west side.
Upper west side.
The price tag was like $1.5 million, something like that.
She got shot down by the HOA because they didn't want her celebrityism as part of where they live in Manhattan.
I'm on Libby Dunn's side.
Me too.
She's got the money.
She wants to buy the apartment.
You neighbors can't dictate what I do for a living just because I'm a lot.
a celebrity, you can't, but apparently this HOA shot it down.
Like it has to be approved before they can approve a sale.
Like the story I saw, she had already paid for a designer to come in,
and it would be advanced far enough where she already had...
Well, she had her furniture ready.
I saw this.
Yeah.
I'm on her side.
Me too.
I looked up this apartment.
I'm a New York guy.
When I saw this story, I want to kind of see where Livy would live, what $1.5 million will
get you on the Upper West Side.
So I saw this.
Yeah.
It kind of was a studio.
I expect a little bigger.
Not judging.
I couldn't afford it.
But the fact that they won't let her live there, get out of here with that.
What are they worried about?
Paparazzi?
She doesn't want paparazzi there either.
She doesn't want people to know where she lives.
That's right.
I'm sure she's trying to live low-key, and they just voted her out.
I think the babe would want Livy Dunn to live in his old apartment.
The babe would want a babe in his apartment.
He would sign off on it.
He'd probably still want to be there.
I didn't know you could do that, though, I guess.
They didn't either.
It's their complex.
In an apartment building, the other people in the complex can vote not to have the sale go through.
She's got the money.
She's already done the design work, already invested in some furniture that fits.
She clears like what, $9 million a year.
Well, if she marries her current boyfriend, they'll be clearing a lot more than that.
Well, that was another thing.
So she's going to live in New York and he's going to live in Pittsburgh?
That's not that hard to do, especially when you're rich.
Well, that's true.
He's not in Pittsburgh that much anyway.
He's traveling.
Well, that's true.
Yeah, so I vote for Libby Dunn.
I do, too.
Shannon, you?
Oh, yeah, HOA is the worst.
And I don't know that it's all the specific owners of that condo,
but probably the board, you know, the board of directors or whatever
that are, I guess, not allowing her to stay there.
But, yeah, I'm on her side.
I hate HOAs are the worst.
We vote for Libby Dun.
All right, we got one more segment.
Phone lines are open.
859-2-287.
That's the Clark's Publishout phone number.
Call and give us a call.
We're going to wrap it up.
We're at the swings for Soldiers Event.
Jacob Tammy's event that he's had now for 15 years out here at the University Club raising money for homes for soldiers.
It's part of the Homes for the Troops Program.
We've got a lot of people here that have actually received one of the homes
that Jacob Tammy and the Swings for Soldiers to help collect the money for.
So it's just a great organization.
It's a great day.
And we're just really proud of the efforts that are one of our own.
Jacob Tammy has done from Boyle County, Danville, and UK.
All right, we'll take our final break, come back our final segment.

Final segment here, as we're at the University Club on Leastown Road for the swing for the soldiers golf event.
A fundraiser for the homes for our troops.
Somebody's watching us, Drew, it's kind of little, is the awkwardness still?
No, it's, we're all right.
Okay, we're okay.
The thing about awkward situations is they're not going to go anywhere, so you just got to embrace them.
That's right.
You just got to look at your settings and say, this is what it is.
I got to do my best to just make this comfortable.
So we were uncomfortable.
Now I'm comfortable in being uncomfortable.
Life throws you a curveball.
You've got to keep the weight back and hit it the other way.
It's not good chain.
Can't do anything about it.
We just got to adapt.
Shannon, who's our final sponsor this segment?
It is cornbread hemp.

This is on the AVision Glass text machine, Drew, from Yoga Girl.
Of course you agree with Livy done.
Yeah, yoga girl.
Of course you would agree with Livy.
You're a horrible neighbor.
I got home last night.
My music hits from the 90s was playing like at 10.30.
I forgot to turn the room.
Speakers off.
How do you keep leaving your music on?
I know.
I forgot.
Because Josiah and his friends were out in the pool.
I just left it on.
come back at 10.30 and it's still playing.
How long would you say it was playing?
Nine hours.
Oh, my God.
Ryan is just providing.
I'd walk over there and murder you.
He's providing the soundtrack for the entire neighborhood.
Everybody likes it from the 90s.
So do you have like a relationship with your neighbors where they would text you like,
hey man, can we cut that off or can you turn it down?
Well, I don't.
When I first moved in, both my neighbors were like friends.
I would text them, turn that crap off or something.
Now I don't even have their phone.
numbers.
So what's your neighbor's situation?
My neighbors on each side, I have their phone numbers, and I think they would tell me if it was
bothering them.
It's the people right behind my fence that I don't know.
The speakers are on that side of the yard over by the fence.
What a weekend for your pool.
Go see and us.
Here's another college football, one of your video game.
College Football 26.
College Football 26.
They said they've taped Chris Wilcox's shoes.
That is true.
I noticed that.
You know, you can accessorize your players.
Wilcox has not a little bit of tape.
It is like wrapped and wrapped and wrapped around his ankle.
Now that's a feature they've had forever.
You could add to your player, but they included it on Wilcox.
859-2-87.
Shannon says we've got a couple of callers, so who we got, Shannon?
It's going to Mark.
Mark.
Mark, go ahead, Mark.
Morning, gentlemen.
Isn't DJ Barnes the player that Matt bet a thousand bucks or whatever
would average 10 to 12 points or 20 points?
Did he?
Did he?
With the collar a couple weeks ago?
Yeah, they added that DJ Burns and the guy said he's a player.
Matt said, you know, he talked back and forth, but I could swear Matt has a bet that this guy won't average 10 or 15 points through the tournament.
Okay, appreciate the phone call.
I don't know if he said that about DJ Burns or Jesser.
I think for sure he said that he was making a bet about Jester.
Oh, there was a jester bet.
Yeah, it wouldn't even play 10 minutes,
let alone average 10 points.
See, I'm not always listening to KSR,
a zone out a little bit, so I don't remember this.
But now knowing what we know, I would take it.
He played at Southern.
Did he play for Sean Woods?
Is that how he ended up here?
Oh, that's the connection then.
Yeah, I think so.
If you played for Sean at Southern.
I know he went to Southern,
so with Sean being the coach, that would make sense.
Regardless, 50 over the weekend.
We could use that this coming weekend when it matters.
Well, you know, kind of Nate Sistine
that came out of nowhere and ended up being the superstar
last year's TBT team.
I wonder who the star of this year's TBT team.
Don't forget Cantor. He's back.
They needed him because they needed a big butt
post guy to kind of move muscles
with people around down there. They didn't really didn't have that.
He's that guy. And we know what Willie
and Harrison's can do from a year ago, but I think
Archie's going to bring a level play
they need also. He was good for
another team last year in the TBT.
859-2-2-8-7. Another call
we can get on real quick. Who got, Shannon? Fred.
Fred, go ahead, Fred.
Yeah.
Go ahead, Fred.
Hello, Jim?
Yeah.
Hey, you all been talking about these succulent playing.
I'm not familiar.
Is this like a semi-pro team that we put together, or I mean, where can I watch?
Where can I watch?
Okay, appreciate it, Fred.
Some of the games are televised.
You could probably pick them up.
Yeah, it's on.
It's not just kind of televised.
It's nationally televised.
FS2, FS1, and then the Fox Sports Channel, various games.
Fred, this is a tournament across the country called the basketball tournament, really original title, the basketball tournament.
TBT for short.
TBT, and they're playing for $1 million.
So a lot of schools, like I think Auburn has a school that's in a team that's in the Lexington bracket.
They're in our regional?
Yeah.
So Louisville, they have a team in their bracket.
So different schools have kind of compiled a bunch of former players to play as a team,
and the Kentucky team is the one we kind of got behind last year,
and they're back again this year.
He's gone.
As long as they're not on the current Kentucky team or in the NBA,
pro players overseas pro players can play.
They're eligible.
That's how we have several that are still playing professionally right now,
but just can't be in the NBA or in college.
I did hear Khalil Whitney gave an interview after the charity event and said,
man, I just want to get Kentucky fans back on my side.
I want to earn their respect again and be a feel a part of this Kentucky family.
It kind of broke my heart when I heard him say that.
I'm really looking forward to hearing from him today,
and then later in the week when we have him.
You know, I'm not going to excuse stepping away from the team mid-season
and leaving the way he did.
He shouldn't have done that.
But, you know, he was a kid, some bad advice,
bad people around him.
Probably wasn't getting the best advice for what he did.
And I just want to hear how that happened, how he's doing.
DJ Burns now just only played at Southern,
played at Murray State also, apparently something he just said.
And a lot of people confirmed the bet that Matt made was about Jesser.
We got to start.
Start listening more.
I get in trouble sometimes.
I kind of tune out.
All right, that's going to do it for this edition.
I'm going to do it for this edition.
I'm going to talk for a couple days.
We'll have Myron Metcalfe in the big chair tomorrow.
We turn to tune.
Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smigel and Friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,

mind, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where sports slice comes in. I'm Timbo,
and every episode, we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the biggest moments in sports
and giving you the real story behind the headlines. And we're going to
