Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter.

Starting point is 00:02:48 Welcome back. Last time I was here, you had eaten all the donuts. Oh, my. You ate eight and a half donuts out of 10. I guess my big question is, how did you survive? After you guys left, I laid down. My stomach started doing cartwheels. I threw up and then slept for two hours and was fine after all that.
Starting point is 00:03:09 So that seems to be, that was key to my recovery. Throw up and a nap. Yeah, throw up and a nap. Yes, get rid of all that. That's nice. So you didn't. You felt fine that night. I'm telling you, man, I've had, I've had, whatever number you think people have asked me about donuts, it's double that.
Starting point is 00:03:23 Everywhere people want to know about these donuts. Did you, like, do you? Like, do you think you could have one today? Not a glazed donut. I'm not eating a glazed donut for a while. You don't, like, you really don't. You couldn't. You couldn't say it.
Starting point is 00:03:34 They make you sick now, you think? I can eat like a long john or an apple fritter, but a regular glazed donut. It's going to be a minute for I have one of those. Well, it was, uh, it was exciting. He did better, Drew, that I would have thought he was going to do. He was, uh, spotted in town that night at Drake's. We went over this last week. He was also spotted getting lobster biscuit Publix.
Starting point is 00:03:53 So it didn't completely do him in for the whole day. He had a few more in that night. So you were still able to eat. After I woke up from that nap, I felt fine, really. It was all anyone wanted to talk to me about, too. I kept getting phone calls. People want me to check on you and make sure you were okay. Those dudes who were calling me a wimp because I couldn't complete the challenge.
Starting point is 00:04:12 You try to eat 10 of those Jeff's donuts. It was hard. It was really hard. It was really hard. I think in hindsight, had you taken a different strategy, Drew, I think he could have done it. I think he was eating too slowly at the beginning because he was. thought he could just massage his way through it. So I think if he wanted to, maybe he could have done it.
Starting point is 00:04:31 He was close, but he never really had it at all. Just you needed to get way out in front. You needed to sprint and then crawl to the end, but when you were only at the average pace, three minutes and one donut, we knew you were done. So then when that was over, I went to lunch before I took off for the week with my friend. And we went to eat, what's that name of that place,
Starting point is 00:04:52 the barbecue place on Versailles Road? you know double H double H, double H that's a good place like it's you know good food it's always like a it's like an old Lexington Creme
Starting point is 00:05:05 everywhere and I saw radio host Jack Patty there Lexington legend radio host Big day for double A the two radio legends having lunch well I went in there
Starting point is 00:05:16 he was so nice and he called me over we took a picture and he's like you know he was on the radio or has been on the radio when? Like the 30s? 70s? Yeah. I mean, he's been on forever.
Starting point is 00:05:30 He's been on for like 50 years and he's he's like a legend. He was very nice. Said really positive things about this show, which I thought was very cool. And then I left. I had some difficulties, Ryan, at an airport. Oh no. Leaving your first flight?
Starting point is 00:05:48 I literally got through security. And the moment I got through security, they canceled my flight. So I'd already checked my bags, gotten through security, and then they canceled the flight. So they said, you know,
Starting point is 00:06:04 flights canceled. So I go to one of these people and I'm like, hey, can you help me? They said, your next flight can't do till tomorrow. So fine. I said, well, how do I get my luggage? They were like,
Starting point is 00:06:15 go downstairs, they'll take care of it. Set downstairs for two and a half hours waiting for luggage for a flight that I am not taking, right? And there was only one other person who had been in my situation, who had checked the flight and didn't have the luggage. She was a woman, probably 40 years old, married, and clearly having drew marital problems. Okay. Okay.
Starting point is 00:06:37 So she. That clear at baggage claim. You wouldn't think it would be that clear at baggage claim. But while we were sitting there next to each other, her husband calls and she starts yelling at him. And she says, you're probably wondering what that's about. And I wanted to be like, no. Not really. But we're here.
Starting point is 00:06:57 It's just the two of us, right? Me and Nashville housewife. I say, yeah, everything all right. And she then proceeds to basically tell me, Shannon, that she's contemplating divorce. Oh. Opportunity for you. There's one way to look at it. One door closes.
Starting point is 00:07:16 When you're a stranger, though, when you're a stranger and you're listening to this, It's a lot. And so I basically became marital council for two hours, you know. And it was a lot. So I just kept hoping, please bring my bags. And they said, you know, we're going to have to get the people that get off the plane first. So it was like two and a half hours. So that was a tough start to the vacation, but otherwise good stuff.
Starting point is 00:07:43 Sounds like she's oversharing. You're just trying to get your teeth brush and your contacts. And I feel like I'm going to check on her in a couple weeks. She did and see if she was able to make it work from her husband, see if they're going to going to be our. We need some sort of update one way or the other. Yeah, we need an update. Is Matt getting a rebound? No, it's not interested in a rebound. I just, I just want to make sure I want to see families stay together. Then I got back Saturday and yesterday watched the glory that is the TBT turn. Yeah. Okay, so I, you have to understand something. I haven't really, I haven't really been part of the TBT tournament. Last year,
Starting point is 00:08:18 I was out of the country. Didn't see any of it. Didn't see Drew get punched. didn't see any of it. The first game, where I was, they didn't have it. So I didn't get to see the game where they played like Astros or what was their name of the team? Stroes Squad. Didn't get to see it. So yesterday is really the first experience I've had with it. Most entertaining thing I've seen in a long time.
Starting point is 00:08:41 All right. Why do I love it? One, you get all these names from the past, right? It's kind of cool to see the twins being the twins. Yep. It's cool to see Willie. Willie looks like he's he's need some sleep But otherwise it's good to see Willie Duran Lamb looks exactly like Duran Lamb
Starting point is 00:08:59 Just with a more mischievous smile A little longer hair A little longer hair Then you throw in getting Archie and Cleal Whitney Getting to see them have good moments in a thing I don't know who some of these players are though Who is DJ Burns Where did he come from? He played for Sean Woods at Southern
Starting point is 00:09:16 Played at Murray State But he finished at Youngstown State But how's he on the tape? From the Sean Woods connection. Sean was... So he's LaFamilia now. Yeah. We need him.
Starting point is 00:09:26 Oh, yeah. He's a fan favorite. He's pretty good. He's more LaFamiliar than Jesser ever was. He's certainly more than Jesser. But we watched him play. When we stopped and watched Youngstown State play Ohio University, he played for Youngstown State.
Starting point is 00:09:40 Okay. I remember I could not take my eyes off of him because what you're seeing right now with La Familiar he was doing in that game. Well, we need it. He is full speed the entire time. And we need him. And Skinner, is that a person? Sinner? Who's the other guy on our team?
Starting point is 00:09:54 That was not on our team? Canterner? Wark? No, I know Cantor. Warwick. Who's that? Marcus Warwick? He played at Henry Clay. Okay. Henry Clay's career scoring leader. Went to Northern Kentucky.
Starting point is 00:10:04 And last year played at Missouri and almost beat Kentucky with some big shots he had played for Missouri. He's good on our team too. He had like 18 in that game of Missouri last year. Everybody told me Cantor's brother was really good last year. He doesn't seem as good this year. He's still a bucket. He's still bucked. Okay, I've only watched one game.
Starting point is 00:10:18 But anyway. Here's what I love, though, Shannon. What chaos these games are. Oh, yeah. Like, no offense to the coaches, but they ain't doing a lot of coaches. Like, people are just running up and down the court. It's like eight-year-olds playing basketball at the end of the game, especially. That sequence, when it was 76, 76, and the next team that got three points won is the funniest basketball I have ever seen in my life.
Starting point is 00:10:44 Because neither team was going to shoot anything but a three. No one was taking a two. and Auburn got a rebound. The guy had a layup and just kicked it right back out for a three. He wouldn't shoot it. And it was joyfully out of control. And I don't know if you saw the Lul game later in the night. The coaches were cussing out their players.
Starting point is 00:11:05 The referees are miced up, so we get to hear how idiotic they are during the game. They don't even know the rules during the game. They're not calling anything, Shannon. I mean, people are hitting each other with a two-by-four. And nobody's calling a thing. It's one step above streetball. It's not even streetball. It's people dribbling it off their foot.
Starting point is 00:11:25 They're tackling each other. There are things that happen on that court. If they happen on the street, you would be in trouble. And they're just letting it go. I find it drew glorious. And then I find myself like yelling at the screen. It's July. These people don't, these are just dudes that played here.
Starting point is 00:11:45 And I'm going, Khalil, you can't take that shot in that situation. Andrew Harrison, I thought that three was going in and out. I'm like, it was awesome. And then when Archie got the steel and the end won. First of all, as he shot it, I thought, oh, no, because he hadn't been shooting free throws well. He's going to have to shoot these two free throws. And then it goes in.
Starting point is 00:12:07 I went crazy. I loved it. Absolutely. Oh, I get into it, too. I didn't find it as glorious. I was livid when they went to Hero Ball and were taking turns jacking up threes. Sean Woods, I apologize for the things I was yelling at my TV. I couldn't believe, especially when they had the lead, not when it got tight.
Starting point is 00:12:23 They started a big lead with the Elam ending. All that size and they completely quit going to the rim and just get jacking all three. I was getting so mad. I was watching the Louisville team last night. Montres Harrell is the best player in the league. No one could guard Montres Harrell. But the end of the game, they didn't even think about giving him the ball. Like these random guys were trying to shake four people and shoot a three.
Starting point is 00:12:44 they were playing a team called sideline cancer, which at first, Shannon, I think I thought, was this teams are admitting that they are cancers to the team, but it was sideline cancer, not we are sideline cancers. They have the little dude who's balding, who's the best player I've ever seen. Did you see that guy? I don't think he's balding.
Starting point is 00:13:04 I think he's already there. I think he is bald. He's not in the process. He just stops and hits 40-footers and talks trash. Banked in the end. He baked in a three. He had a lay-up. up and he shot a three and banked it in. Off balance. That was amazing. So I'm just a huge
Starting point is 00:13:19 fan of this. I'm a huge fan of watching it. I'm also just a huge fan of it's clear like the network is kind of into it, but not really into it. So Robbie Hummel, who called our game, he got in a car and went to Louisville, Shannon, and called two games that night. He did the two games in Lexington and he left here. Our game ended at five. He was there in Louisville at seven for their game that night. That's pretty good. That's pretty good timing to get from there. Yeah. Yeah. I wonder if he had his own personal helicopter or something. But yeah, you know, and these TBTs, you got guys that are in full jerseys who are coaching their team. Like that stuff you don't see anything else. Yes, I love it. There was one game last night where they had the guy clearly there was a jersey that they ran out
Starting point is 00:14:02 in jerseys and he had to wear it because it was way too tight. And his like his belly button was showing because the jersey was too tight. As funny as you think the Kentucky games are, we at least have the connections to the Harrisons, Willie, all the greats. Watch a random TBT game where you don't know anyone, and those are the fun ones. It's the bald guys versus the bald guys. The other DJ Burns played last night. The one from NC State.
Starting point is 00:14:24 The one from NC State. He has not been keeping in shape. I know that may not, that may surprise you, but he was fun. They had the guy from the NCAA tournament that carries the boombox. Yeah. He was in it.
Starting point is 00:14:40 Wichita State has a guy that they call, it's not white mamba, wheat mamba, because he's got hair that's blonde and they're the shockers. No, I'm telling you, have you seen this guy? Yeah, yeah. I watched a lot of TBC. He was awesome. Like, I love it. And now, I guess it's set up to where if we keep winning, we will host every game.
Starting point is 00:15:00 That's right. Yeah, since Lul got beat, we're now in place to, got to win Tuesday night, and then they're going to win the host of regional. So they play Tuesday night at 6 o'clock. Yeah. I'm going. We got to go. Everybody needs to go. Like it, like it's, we had a pretty good crowd yesterday, but I, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:15:16 How much are the tickets? I heard they were a little expensive. Are they a little expensive? I mean, you can get in the door for cheap. I don't know exactly what's available. Whatever they are. People need to go because Tuesday night's going to be fun. Now, I think that team they played Tuesday night's pretty good.
Starting point is 00:15:30 Oh, we have beef. That's Archie's old team. He played for them for several years. He got them to the final four last year. He's a leading score. But then this year he said, sorry guys, I'm going to Lafamilia. And then they got put in our region. Wow.
Starting point is 00:15:42 So we got the text message asking to be on La Familiar's team last year. We found out that last week in the interview. Let me say this about that. And I'm not done talking about this. We're coming back. But your interview, both of yours, but you kind of let it, Ryan, the interview with Archie. I don't, you know, I don't listen to things when I'm gone. That's just I, but people said, Matt, you need to listen to that.
Starting point is 00:16:05 I thought you did an awesome job. I really, I mean that, because you did better in that. than I could have. Because, you know, sometimes, this is going to shock people, I like to cut people. No, now. No, I know. Really? People don't think that's true, Shannon, but I'm going to say it a little bit. It's a myth. It is a myth. But you, you did exactly what you should do there, which is you let him talk, which allowed him to open up. And I thought his thing where he talked about that year he played here and how his role was not what he thought he'd be. I just thought it was, it was, it was, Excellent. And I wanted to give you both of you, kudos for that. But that really was. I thought it was one of the best interviews that we've ever had on here. And I, you deserve credit for it. I appreciate you saying that. And Drew and I talked about this. You could just see it in real time. He's working through some stuff that happened to him as an 18 year old kid that he had never talked about and never really. And I'm so proud of him. Exactly. Yes. And then he makes the shot. And that was awesome. And he made the shot in such a perfectly archy way. Running into three. people throwing it, banking it off the glass.
Starting point is 00:17:15 Like that's such an archy way to finish it too. So that was great. Also, both teams, Shannon, at the end of the game, looked like they're coached by John Calapari. That is true. At the end of the games, none of them are running anything. No, no, they're just like they literally, both teams looked like it was completely John Caliperi basketball.
Starting point is 00:17:39 We'll take a break. Come right back. KSA. Last night, a blown. call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Starting point is 00:18:38 And in recognition of mental health awareness month, I'm bringing over a decade of my own experience. in the mental health field and conversations with so many incredible guests. I'm talking. Tripp Fontaine, Ryan Clark. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase
Starting point is 00:18:53 that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing. And we're still chasing it. And we don't know when we've done enough because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross. Because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth?
Starting point is 00:19:10 Are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person. Join me, Keer Gaines, as we have real conversations about healing, growth, fatherhood, pressure, and purpose on my new podcast, Learn the Hard Way. Starting point is 00:19:33 Jacob Kingston grew up in an isolated polygamous sect. We were God's chosen kingdom on earth. He felt destined for greatness. So when a swaggering Armenian businessman catapults Jacob into an extraordinary world, he doesn't look back. Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, meeting the president of Turkey. I'm Michelle McPhee, and this is one of the most shocking criminal conspiracies I've ever come across. When Jacob met Levin this plant to a billion dollar fraud. But with two kings from entirely different worlds, just how long can their empire survive?
Starting point is 00:20:12 The largest tax investigation in American history. You need to tell me what you know. Is somebody coming after me? Jacob told Levan, you're ruining my life. Listen to Kingdom of Fraud on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Life throws hurdles big and small. The question is, how do you conquer them? On Hurtle with Emily Abadi, we sit down with the most inspiring women in sports and wellness.
Starting point is 00:20:42 professional athletes, coaches, and Olympic champions to talk about the challenges that shaped them and the mindset that keeps them going. From the WNBA standout Kate Martin and rising hockey star Layla Edwards. If a boy can do it, I don't see why a girl can't. Like, I've never understood that. Like, it didn't make sense in my brain. It's hard to be in spaces that no one looks like you, but don't ever feel like you don't feel like you don't belong.
Starting point is 00:21:03 Don't let that be the reason you don't do it. An Olympic champs Gabby Thomas and Katie Ledecki. The ability to show a gold medal to someone and have their face light. up and smile. That means the world to me. And that's what motivates me to win more gold medals. At our level, at this scale, like being able to fail in front of the entire world. Like, I can do anything. I can do like I can do anything. Because resilience isn't just about winning. It's about showing up, even when it's hard. Listen to Hurtle with Emily Abadi on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports.
Starting point is 00:21:42 the game, execution, and the TBT game, A, I can't believe I'm interested in this. B, after watching Pope's team all year and C, the Pacers, watching everybody just standing around, it drove me crazy. It did me too, but in a great way. Well, you explained exactly why the TBT tournament is successful. It's just that chaos streetball that you get. Well, the Elam ending is also great. Yes. Because they can't just hold the ball.
Starting point is 00:22:07 So that happened in that Louisville game last night. The other team had a huge lead, but you have to go score. You can't, like, wait, and I like that. I enjoy the Ilem ending in this format. I don't want it anywhere else. But I do hate how, like we saw yesterday, everyone completely forgets the concept of team basketball, and they all want to hit the game winner. I think it's hilarious.
Starting point is 00:22:30 I think it's funny. Can I say a couple things about just also what it says to me about some bigger. Like, okay, Anzley Almanor is on the team. Yeah. But like, he doesn't get to play. Does that maybe give you a little more appreciation for what Pope did last year? It does. I actually had this thought yesterday watching the game.
Starting point is 00:22:51 A, showed me how good these pros still are that Anzley Almanor who just played competitive basketball barely can get on the floor. And although he did hit the game winner Saturday, hasn't even done much when he's on the court outside of that. But it shows it kind of tells how good these pros are. and also shows what happened last year. I think it shows, you know, I mean, he's Mario's favorite player. But when I saw Anzley-Alma, I was like, I don't know if this guy can play Kentucky.
Starting point is 00:23:18 But the fact that Pope made him into a contributor on a very good team, I think it showcases to me some of his coaching ability. I mean, you know, a lot of these other teams, the dudes are the best players are only a couple years out of college. Yeah. And Almanor is, and he's not even playing. I think it shows the brilliance of how he put that roster together. He knew Almanor was not going to be a starter, but he wanted a guy that could hit a three. And it worked. And it worked. And it worked. That's what his role was. And he played it, played the role perfectly.
Starting point is 00:23:48 I do, I do genuinely love that Archie and Khalil Whitney are getting these moments. Like getting to have these kind of the cheering at the, at Memorial and just, I'm just really, I just, you know, I'm a sucker for these guys. If you think about it, three out of the five or six biggest players are all guys who had hard experiences here. Archie Khalil and even Andrew Harrison to some extent. And for them to get all that love and that the fact that they would want to come back, I just think that's really cool. I was worried yesterday Archie was going to get the whole experience again when he was one for nine from the free throw line. I was like, oh no.
Starting point is 00:24:25 Oh, no. We hugged Archie last week and not going to turn on again. But he got the game winner. I said we did that interview. It doesn't matter what happens in this tournament. Archie's already had a successful week because he was able to explain himself. He's told Brian, Ryan and I during the break, he said, I've waited 12 years to be able to explain to my side of what didn't work out that year. Listen, big shout out to the fans as well.
Starting point is 00:24:46 I saw on social media, you guys all reached out to him. His social media followers went up after that interview. So that's very cool. Now, who do they play now? I'm not sure who they play now. Aberline Drive. Archie's old team. What is Emberline Drive?
Starting point is 00:25:00 What's an Eberline Drive? Where are they? I have no idea. Who's what's Eberline? I don't know. Everybody's just like everybody's looking at me. Like, do you know, is no one curious but me? Whatever.
Starting point is 00:25:12 Like, I understand what it means to sideline cancer. Yeah. But what does it mean to be an Eberline drive? I just know they've been a contender in this almost going back to the first few years. So there are no, they're no easy opponent we can look over. But as far as where Eberlin drive the street. I mean, who are these people? I have no idea.
Starting point is 00:25:29 Who brought them together? Who's there 20 Beckham? They have some recognizable names But it's more of a hodgepodge Give me who the Eberline drives Well, AJ Slaughter played at Western Oh Davion Mcnight
Starting point is 00:25:43 Lexingtonian, right? Wait a minute, are these all like Are these traitors to Kentucky? Davian McKnight and A.N. By the way, AJ Slaughter and Davian McKnight Both former Hay Kentucky guests. What?
Starting point is 00:25:54 Were they really? Yes, they both were on the Hay Kentucky set with me at one point from here being Mr. Basketball No, that it's just a, it's not like one where they were attached to school. I mean, there's Iowa, Washington, Arkansas, Bellarmine, Providence, UC Irvine, Austin P. They're from a little bit everywhere.
Starting point is 00:26:11 I've got your answer on why it's called Eberline Drive. It says the team was named after the street in Fraser, Michigan, that co-general manager Jacob Hirschman grew up on. So that's why it called Eberline Drive. So, you know, if you were a general manager, it could have been, well, you don't want to say your street name, but whatever your street name is. I mean, I could say my old street name. Edgewood Road. See, that sounds like a good TBT name. Actually, that would be a good name.
Starting point is 00:26:32 Edgewood Road. La Familia versus Ed Wood Road. One more thing, and then I'm going to move forward. Feel free to tell me I'm wrong about this. There's a part of me that wants us to change the name from Lafamilia. It feels very caliparious. You can make an argument for it. Because let me give you some of the other names.
Starting point is 00:26:50 West Virginia, their team's called Best Virginia. Love it. Yeah. It's awesome. Marshall Thundering heard. Heard. Makes sense. Wichita State.
Starting point is 00:27:02 the shockers, their team's called the aftershocks. Uh-huh. Auburn. War ready. Auburn's war-ready. Louisville's theville. I feel like I want something other than Law Familiar. That's a Cal thing, and it's fine.
Starting point is 00:27:19 But like, I want it to be something Kentucky. Also, Cal's Italian, and we use the Spanish spelling of Law Familiar, not the Italian. I never noticed that. I think Cal was going for more of the Italian approach and we use the Spanish version. So let me ask. ask you this. 772, 774-5254 in the text machine. If we were to change the name and make it
Starting point is 00:27:38 something Kentucky, again, Best Virginia, Aftershocks, heard that, the Ville, what do we pick it? Kentucky. When-Tucky? See, I thought Win-Tucky. Yeah. I thought Win-Tucky isn't bad. Maybe people don't like it. There are things that rhyme with Ucky that maybe we don't include in the name. We should go all in. Let's lean into that. Blue balls. Blue balls. No, that's not too. Blue balls.
Starting point is 00:28:10 That's not different. Love it. The Commonwealth. Yeah. You don't like that? You mentioned another one though that was pretty good we liked. Wintucky. There was another one that came in like right at the beginning.
Starting point is 00:28:22 Oh. I can't remember what you said it was. I don't either. Well, there's a god of them. Catitude. These are going to be just, remember we do these. nicknames. We were always terrible names up. It's the favorite thing we do.
Starting point is 00:28:36 We do that. The worst, the better for me. Yeah, Power K. Okay. I think more football with Power K, but I don't hate it. All right. I just think it would, that's just my take. All right, before, I want to go to the phones, but I've waited a long time. So, Shannon, I have to talk about the Coldplay couple. I know it's been a few days away, but I didn't get a chance to like really. And it hadn't calmed down.
Starting point is 00:28:58 Oh, no. I have some strong thoughts about this. this, but let's just go through it real quick. I woke up Thursday morning, turned on my phone, saw it immediately like on a random TikTok. It had not blown up yet. And I thought, oh, this would be great if I was on the radio. Like this would be, this would be great. By the end of the day, I've never seen anything blow up like it. It hearkened me back to a previous time in the internet. I would even say like a pre-Trump internet. Because now the internet, it feels like 80% of the things we talk about are Trump-related, pro or con, right?
Starting point is 00:29:38 And then it's also, people are so hateful to each other, right? This felt like it was a pre, you know, it felt like what Twitter was like in like the early 2010s. When it was fun. And the mid-to, yeah, it felt like it was like, oh, let's make funny pictures and jokes about things. We're all coming together to watch this. We're all coming together to watch. because it was such a perfect conglomeration of absurdity. It's cold play of all bands, Shannon.
Starting point is 00:30:07 Like if it's any band except cold play, I don't think it's as funny. But it's cold play. It's a CEO and the head of HR. Yeah. You know, not just two employees, arguably the worst two employees you could have do it. The CEO and the head of HR. Head of HR. Right.
Starting point is 00:30:25 By the way, that company was started in Cincinnati. Really? Did you know that? That's a Cincinnati company that then moved to New York. Didn't know that. The reaction. What did he think he was doing? It took him so long.
Starting point is 00:30:39 I mean, he got on the floor like he had been shot. He's looking for his contact. I mean, he was like that meme of Homer Simpson going into the bush. Yeah, he was. He just melted. Collapsed to the ground. Slowly. Slowly.
Starting point is 00:30:57 She turned around. And looked like she was even laughing. He, like he'd been shot. He looked like Lee Harvey Oswald had taken him down. Yeah. He felt his bank account getting cut in that moment. And then Chris Martin, the singer's got to be like, well, are they having an affair?
Starting point is 00:31:14 Like, that did not help. No, it didn't. That made it funny. That did not help. It was a perfect storm of everything awful that could have happened in that scenario. So I have like three questions. Question one. if they had just acted normal
Starting point is 00:31:30 what happens Shannon? What if they just act like they're a couple? No one would have recognized them and none of this would have been going on right now. They were from New York. Okay so that's important. The concerts in Boston, they're from New York. Can we all agree if they don't collapse? Nobody would have
Starting point is 00:31:49 like it wouldn't have gone viral. No, not like that. No one would have even know. Nobody there. Maybe somebody in the stadium might have known. and maybe they still would have been done with their spouses. But it wouldn't have gone viral. Not even close. Even if somebody in the stadium knows,
Starting point is 00:32:07 it takes someone actually uploading it to the internet and that person to be filming, I don't think it gets out at all if they just say normal. So if he just acts normal. Yeah. Here's the other thing. I learned about this. They do this in every Coldplay concert.
Starting point is 00:32:21 No, I knew it was coming. No, so Coldplay. Coldplay puts up on the, Chris Martin apparently stands there and he sings about people in the crowd. So he'll do this intro and go, I want to say hello to the crowd and he'll put a picture of somebody up and then he will make up a 30 second song about them. Okay. And he'll like sing it.
Starting point is 00:32:42 When he starts that, Shannon, don't you have to let go of the person that you're on a mistress date with? Right? Isn't that a like go to the restroom moment? Oh yeah, yeah, exactly. unless they're not big fans and didn't realize that. But if you watch the video, they had gone to somebody else first. That is it.
Starting point is 00:33:02 That is the stupidity of this entire thing. When you see that they're doing this, you're exactly right. We're right to go grab a beer. Get away from each other at that point, right? This tells me how bad they are hiding this. They're probably at the headquarters doing it out in the open. If you know there's cameras going around and you think we're still just going to cuddle up, then you're just being reckless.
Starting point is 00:33:24 So was his reaction? the natural reaction, just fall to the ground. When you're a CEO of a billion dollar company and you're having an affair with the HR director and your wife's going to see it, I think you fall to the ground. Did he think that was going to do? It's too late. They've already seen you. At that point, and now the cover up is worse than the cover up is worse than the crime. The cover up is why you went viral.
Starting point is 00:33:50 Do you think while he's headed down to the ground, he realizes I just lost a billion dollars? This is the part where I'm gonna say, I feel a little sorry for. I know that's not gonna be a popular sentiment. They shouldn't have done it. Their spouses are obviously, that's the worst for them and their kids. I grant you all that. But I want you to think about the moment after it happened. They probably walk to leave and they're like, oh no, this isn't gonna be good.
Starting point is 00:34:22 Yeah. But Shannon, they could have had no idea. going to be what it was. Yeah. Even in that moment, they could have never imagined this is going to be everywhere. Right. Like there's no way they could have imagined that. They had to think, uh-oh, maybe our spouses are going to get told.
Starting point is 00:34:43 But they could never have imagined they were going to be on every television show, every newspaper, every internet, that it was going to be. It's around the world. Yeah. Okay? It was in the newspaper in India. I saw it. Like they should, like they could have, Drew, they could have never fathomed that that would happen.
Starting point is 00:35:06 In that moment, they're probably thinking at worst, one of our friends was here. Yes. It's going to get our story straight. We need to get our story straight. They probably didn't think that the Phillies mascots would be reenacting them at a game two days later. Or that, I think I saw Morgan Wallen say, hey, we're going to do a kiss cam if you're having an affair. Like, how about that? I mean, I know I'm like, I know newspapers aren't as big a deal, but how about the cover of the New York Post with you on the front and the headline Dumbo Tron?
Starting point is 00:35:35 Oops. Did you, could they have imagined that was going to happen? No, and, you know, normally these things last for 24 hours, 24 hour news cycle. This will never go away. This thing has legs and is still being talked about the next week. And, you know, people will move on, but that picture is going to be used forever. Yeah. There's already been so many memes made.
Starting point is 00:35:54 I mean, the one from the office with Dwight, Trude and Pam, was one of my favorite things. But forever, when you're talking about something happening and you're wanting to, like, hide it, they're going to show that picture forever. Oh, yes. So do you, go ahead. How quickly your life can change in an instant. Shannon, you're reading my mind. This has been something that has like always been on my mind forever. And I've talked about it on this show sometimes, how your life can change like that.
Starting point is 00:36:24 And it's never the same, ever. And it can be amazing. It can be terrible, right? It can be serious like someone passes away, or it can be funny or whatever. They'll never, like, get over this. Like ever. They can't get a job.
Starting point is 00:36:49 You think the HR lady, no one's going to, she can't be an HR ever again. Can she? Not as an HR person ever. Who would hire her? It's probably the worst thing you can do is the head of each other. Having an affair with the CEO.
Starting point is 00:37:03 So what would you do? Let's say, okay, so two questions. I know I'm going long, but I can't help. This is huge. Two questions. Ryan, you're a great friend. Let's say the man is your friend. Do you call him?
Starting point is 00:37:16 Oh, yeah. How long would it have taken you to reach out to him? Probably as soon as I saw it. So what would you have said? Like, because you're as good a friend as I know. What do you say to your friend? I think his first name was Andy. What do you say to your friend?
Starting point is 00:37:31 I probably said, hey, man, look, said you got to get out in front of this. And you need to tell your wife immediately. First, are you going to, like, sympathize with him? No. You're not going to be nice to it? If it's out there, like, you know, I don't think so. If he's my good friend, I'm like, man, said, you got to get out in front of this. You need to go have and talk with your wife right now.
Starting point is 00:37:49 Okay, but that ship sailed. Like what would you tell you wouldn't say hey man I'm here for you you I thought I would think you would try to comfort Yeah I would definitely do that also I thought you meant like what advice would I give him but yeah I would say man look you need you need a place to stay Go stay on my couch for a couple days Would you suggest that they should Shannon like should they he hasn't even made a statement like should they Should they do an interview like what he put out a statement didn't he? It was fake that was fake Not the one coding cold play I thought he actually had a real statement. I haven't said He didn't resign, right?
Starting point is 00:38:24 He resigned. Yeah, I believe that's real news. But what would you have him do? Should he do an interview on Good Morning America? Like, what should he do? But what good is that going to do? I mean, I don't know. I think it's already done.
Starting point is 00:38:37 The damage has been done at this point. You've already embarrassed your wife and your kids. You're going to just keep embarrassing them over and over and over. Nothing you can do at this point. All right. So do you feel sorry for them at all? No. Not even a little bit.
Starting point is 00:38:48 No, no, no. I mean, if you're the head of a billion dollar company, and you've got a lot of you love and you don't want to lose that. I think sleeping with head of HR, you've dug your own grave at that point. I do not feel sorry for him at all. I'm surprised about that. The only I feel sorry for him is the fact, you know, they went to a cold play concert just to enjoy themselves for the evening
Starting point is 00:39:08 and ended up to their lives were completely in his hands. Well, can I give you just a little? Yeah, okay. This is my little case for feeling a little sorry for. We all know people that have cheated on their spouse. Yeah. Okay. All of us.
Starting point is 00:39:21 Everyone listening to this show know somebody that's done that. Those people didn't have their lives to have this tapping to them. Not even close. So you can't even have a little bit of sympathy for that? Because I mean, you know, you know a person that did this. The only difference between them and this one is the cold play piece. But I wouldn't have sympathy for them either if they got caught at a cold play concert, culled up during kiss camp.
Starting point is 00:39:49 I would have zero. To never get another job? I mean. This guy doesn't need another job, does he? Okay, but fair enough. But the job's getting a little extreme with examples of people who would know. I don't know any CEOs sleep with the HR. I'm just saying if someone is that dumb with a kiss cam to do it in public, I don't have sympathy for them.
Starting point is 00:40:06 Here's my other question. I have a little sympathy. I don't have sympathy for their act and I have more sympathy for the kids, etc. But like, this is a pretty harsh punishment for these people. I mean, they're going to be a meme for ad for her. It looked like they were in maybe in a suite. So their suite had to be probably former co-workers like other coworkers. There's other pictures of them that it looks like.
Starting point is 00:40:29 Because they thought the woman next to them was their co-worker. She was not. The company said no one else. She was not. It was just a random woman that happened to be there. Gotcha. Let that be a lesson. Should it went to a motley crew show.
Starting point is 00:40:40 They have a different kind of cam. Yes, they do. 5-9-280-2287. All right. I'll take your calls right after this. KZ. Last night, a blown call changed the game. This morning, the internet lost its mind.

Starting point is 00:45:31 How you doing, fellas? What's up? Just call and check out and tell you some kind of why I consider bad news. I hate to bring your show on this part, but I just found out in the last week to have brain cancer, and I'm the biggest debt thing ever, just recently got season tickets, so I'm going to try to enjoy my life until I die.
Starting point is 00:45:51 But I just want to let you know, guys, please say a prayer for me. And hopefully I'd maybe make it a few more years to say cats win a few more. But it's going to be tough. Well, Dave, I'm sorry to hear that. God bless you. Are you, you live in Louisville? Yes, sir. All right.
Starting point is 00:46:12 Well, I'm going to be praying for you. I know these guys will too. I know there'll be entertainment that comes this year from the team for you, but also if you need anything, you let us know. You'll be in our hearts. Yeah. Yes, I appreciate. Drew, thank you.
Starting point is 00:46:29 I high-five, Drew, all the time. But we're in a press row. Drew knows who am. Yeah, I'll high-five you again soon. Yeah, I'll high-five you again soon. Hope to see you. Yes, yes. Okay, so I won't keep your show going.
Starting point is 00:46:41 Thank you, guys. All right. God bless you, Dave. You know them? Yeah, I didn't place the first, but I always see him. at games. Always high five. So I hope we'll get another high five in here coming up.
Starting point is 00:46:51 All right. Tom, go ahead, Tom. Yeah, a new name for the team, I would think, with Blue Cat Tucky. Blue Cat Tucky. See, here we go, Shannon. The name is it, Blue Cat Tucky? I appreciate. That's a little bit everything.
Starting point is 00:47:10 A lot of syllables. Mario, you didn't like that with his mind. You wouldn't like Blue Cat Ducky? Blue Cat Go Blue Cat Ducy. That's why I love these suggestions for names because they're all terrible. They're the exception to like a couple.
Starting point is 00:47:29 Well, remember the greatest one though. Remember when we were trying to name the 2015 team? Devastation Incorporated. People bring that back for TV. That one, yeah. That wasn't, it was terrible. It was so good. Noah, go ahead, Noah. Hey, guys.
Starting point is 00:47:46 So, I guess you can say for it. So we all know, obviously, we give credit to Calipari during his era for getting us that championship in 2012. There's also a lot of flack on the other side for the fact that there was at least three years we could think of easily from the John Wall and Boogie era, the first year of the Harrison Twins on the first front of the championship, and then the year after with Towns, Booker, and all of them. So we could have easily be at the point where we could be tied with UCLA in championship. Can you guys think of another year outside of those that it should have been an easy-go
Starting point is 00:48:20 Well, I mean, should have been as a different thing. All right. So I think if you play the Calipari years over, we probably win two titles. I think we, we, I think Caliperi, with all he did, should have won two, could have won three, ended up with one. I think there were three years that we were definitively the best team. 2012, 2010, and 2015, we were the best team. You don't always win it when you're the best team. So I think it is fair to say we should have won two of those.
Starting point is 00:48:50 three, but we won one. But then 2011 and 2014, we nearly won, and I don't think we were one of the, I don't even know if we were one of the best teams, and we nearly won both those times, but we didn't win. And then I would throw in 2017 as another team that was good enough to win a national championship. I don't think we were the best team. I actually think we lost to the best team. Appreciate the call who won the title. But I think he had six years when you consider 10, 12, 15, the amazing runs we did in 11 and 14, and then the talent on 17, that we had six legitimate national title contender teams.
Starting point is 00:49:30 I agree, and one that's not on that tier, I still think we forget how close 2019 could have been and should have been if they just beat Auburn, because that wasn't a tough Final 4. I think Virginia won that year, but they lose to an Auburn game that's missing their best player when you're a heavy favorite. I think that's the end.
Starting point is 00:49:45 The finals was Virginia and Texas Tech. That's right, yeah. And I mean, you know, Auburn loses their best. player, you could make an argument. We should have been right there. Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygle and Friends.
