Now here's Matt Jones.
Having a great conversation in the break there with Mario.
His brother is playing basketball in China.
And I was like, we were like, we want to go visit him?
And he said, no.
And then he admits he doesn't ever want to go anywhere.
which like Shannon wouldn't you want to just visit China like if your brother was playing basketball
in China and you had a free place to stay wouldn't you want to go to China and just see it
give me a good reason to go to China wouldn't you oh I want to go everywhere in the world
I just can't afford it me too why wouldn't you want to go would you right absolutely especially
right now your brother's there your brother is playing there getting he's in China he's out
there he's getting he's hitting the tray you can face I understand but the point is like
It's a big world out there, Mario.
There's so much happening.
And we're only on this earth for a little time.
And if you are blessed enough to be able to have a chance to see another whole thing, wouldn't you want to do it?
Your brother's getting to do it.
You said your brother likes it.
Not China.
You know, Mario did take a big trip.
They went to Chicago a couple weeks ago.
No, that's nice.
But I mean, when I took you to, when I took you to.
through Indiana and Wisconsin, your eyes got so big.
You were like, there's windmills.
If you think Indiana windmills are crazy, go see what's in China.
You checked off all-America when we went to Seattle.
What's left to see here?
I'm getting you to check.
You need to go see you.
KSR does China next summer.
Yeah.
Well, that's an undertaking.
859-280-2287.
Text machine is 772-7525-254.
I've had some people write the text machine who know Tyler.
Agree with me.
Looks like that guy?
Yeah.
I can't have been the first person in his life to have told him that while this was going on.
A couple things here.
First of all, Shannon, uh, Rads, you know, back on track.
Yeah.
Here we go.
When I left, we were two and a half back of the wild card.
When I come back, we're two and a half back.
It's been a rocky time.
Yeah.
We near it.
We lost once to the Rockies.
But then we came back, won the series against the Mets.
I was at the game Friday night.
Okay.
Yes, I went to the game Friday night.
Um, cheered him on.
They almost blew it.
They were up 8 to 2, but almost blew it.
But it's fun to watch.
The Mets fans, they boo their players so quickly.
Like, they make one mistake, and they're like,
which makes it a lot better because they're just always,
I enjoyed the All-Star game.
Did you watch the All-Star game?
Did you like the ending?
Loved it.
I did too, man.
Loved it.
I think it was great for baseball to have that ending.
I didn't like half the players had already gone home.
That was odd.
That was odd because I was like,
when they announced what it was going to be, I was like, oh, you're going to get
Sho Hay and Aaron Judge.
Nope.
And it's going to be awesome.
And then they were like, well, they left.
It's not often you get a highly competitive game and people in it just leave.
Got a dinner reservation.
But it was great.
I mean, I don't, Shannon, I wouldn't want them to do that for the regular season.
No, no.
But I think for the All-Star game, that was kind of awesome.
Yeah, for the All-Star game.
I mean, the alternative would be just in the game in a tie.
That right there is a lot more entertaining.
So I like it for the All-Star game itself.
I loved it.
I thought it was awesome.
I thought it was very cool.
Well, for the All-Star game,
you got to, baseball got to do something
to generate some interest.
Perfect time to do something like that.
Have a home run derby swing off, man.
I do have to admit, I didn't know that was a role.
I didn't either.
Bringing out the batting cages.
I'm like, we're just going to have a home run derby right here in the middle of the game.
And a lot of pressure, you only get three swings,
and you got to knock it out.
Kyle Swarber hit three homers and three swings.
And then, you know, Shannon, well,
you drew as well, we get Reds and Braves at the Bristol Motor Speedway
a week from Saturday.
Heck yeah. Braves are still not very good, but did you see our boy Ronald Acuna over the weekend?
That was an amazing throw. That was unbelievable.
That was pretty amazing.
That is maybe the best throw.
So we have that dialed up, but maybe we should get a little fun wager on it, perhaps?
Yeah, I mean, I want to see who's pitching for us.
Let's see who's pitching.
Yeah, we got to wait and see who's injured for us.
But they showed the uniforms, kind of cool uniforms.
They're making the numbers look like NASCAR numbers.
Yeah.
They've got checkered flags on the Reds hat.
What's on the Braves hat?
Flames.
Flames.
Yeah.
I'll buy that checkered flag hat, but just to have it.
The field looks awesome, too.
The field looks awesome.
I wasn't going to go, but now I kind of want to go.
It's not very far.
No.
You know?
So, dude, I guess they could probably give you the opportunity to buy tickets being a season.
I probably could get a press credential, too, from ESPN.
Yeah.
Because they're doing the 50 states in 50 days.
They're doing it there.
Oh, they are doing it there.
Marty and McGee are going to be there.
We were talking about it.
I probably could even get press credential.
It would be cool.
So I will see.
But anyway, Reds are still in it.
Braves are not really in it.
But it'll be good to get some excitement behind our two teams when the season hasn't gone.
It's still summer of Eileen, Nick Lidolo, and there's only a couple players I hate, so everything's going good.
If Sunny Green had stayed healthy.
Who's Sunny Green?
Hunter Green.
There's Sunny Gray.
Sunny Gray and Hunter Green.
Sunny Gray hasn't been on the team for like three years.
Oh, good old Sunny Green.
Sounds like a comedian from the 50s.
Sunny Green.
But yeah, the All-Star Game, all that was fun.
That's more of that than I've watched in a long time.
Will Levis, Drew, is going to be out for the year.
He's going to have surgery on his shoulder.
We'll be out for the year.
Bummer for Will Levis.
Odd that he's announcing it now.
But out for the year is, well, Will Levis play in the NFL again?
Hot take, I think this will be good for his value.
I think if he had played it all, especially if he has a lingering issue, it just would have been bad.
The Titans are so bad.
The line still stinks.
It's mostly like Cam Ward.
I think he's put in a bad spot.
I think if Levis takes a year off, gets his shoulder healthy, it might be his best chance a year from now to still have hope.
So I'm taking kind of the counterpoint that the Titans sucks so much that him taking a year off will help him.
It's very much like, now, Couch had more success than Will, but it's a similar thing, Ryan, that happened to Couch.
hurt his shoulder, had to sit out a year, then has to come back, and do you think Will Levis will play again?
I think Drew hit it. I think this year off may help him because if he tries to play, gets beat up again, has another bad year.
His stock is going to continue to go down. Why not take a year off, get healthy, and come back stronger next year with somebody else?
Yeah, I hope so. I hope so for him. I want it to work out for him.
He's never had a fair shot. Die Hard Titans fan here. They put him in a horrible spot.
It is a shame that our two big quarterbacks of the last 25 years went to the NFL to just terrible situations.
And somehow Tim Cout still got the Browns to the playoffs.
He did.
It's amazing.
He was able to do that on that horrible team they had.
Well, I hope he ends up.
I hope he gets better and I hope it works out for him.
But I was surprised.
I mean, he didn't have surgery in the entire offseason and now waiting to do it right now.
Seems like a really odd thing to me.
The timing is suspect.
You had all these months to get it ready.
try to salvage a little bit of a season might even mean that he's kind of taking my angle and
really thinking it could help him. For reasons that I'll talk more about in a few weeks,
I'm having Shannon actually know the NFL this year. Yeah. Like for real? No the players.
Okay. Oh my goodness. There's so many players. Yeah. I love teams. A lot of teams.
I mean, I know I've hosted an NFL show for seven or eight years, but I'm going to actually
kind of have to know some stuff this year.
And, yeah.
Like the starters on both sides of the ball?
Yeah, I'm not going to know that.
Yeah. But I'm going to need to know more than the quarterback, the coach, and like one guy.
I'm going to need to know more than that.
Are you the new Sal Powell at ESPN now or something?
I'm not going to talk.
I've just got something cooking.
And I just, I had to spend some of this break learning players.
you had ever told me that the NFL would be what I would do.
I didn't even used to watch it.
I did not even care about it at all.
Well, they know.
He said in the interview.
Well, I did.
That was one of my selling points.
You're like a blank camera.
They can mold you.
I don't know anything about this.
So, Mark Anthony.
Go ahead, Mark Anthony.
Hey, Matt, you're Andrew and Shannon.
And, hey, fellas, on La Familia, Matt, our caller Dave, first caller of the day,
called in to share his situation, his tribulations with his family, Matt.
Yes.
And he knows that he's going to get his nation.
We're a nation.
We're a family.
There's not another team in this tournament that can wear that name, Matt.
And you don't need to have anything about Kentucky in that name for everybody.
to know who that is.
The family.
It's dudes that have played here, and dudes that never got to play here but wanted to.
It's the family.
Dudes who want to play for their home.
And I'm telling you, Matt, as far as I'm concerned, you can keep it live familiar,
or you can switch it to English, you call it the family.
But you don't dare lose that family.
Okay, I like that.
That's a good case, Mark.
That's a good case.
Okay.
And brother, between you and me.
When, Tucky?
Matt, hit graders are coming with that, brother. Can't you do a little better?
I did. I was just, okay. I gave you a compliment, Mark. I appreciate to call.
He doesn't like Blue Cat Tucky either, then. Yeah, Blue Cat Tucky. He didn't like that one.
I will say, you know, you see this. One of the things I like about the TBT and watching these games is I do love the way Kentucky embraces this. And, you know, to be fair to them, Louisville does the same thing. I mean, these two schools, the way
Kentucky and Louisville use this event to connect with their alumni.
It's just awesome to me.
I mean, Montres Harrell takes a private jet to make sure he gets back to the game.
That's cool.
It just is.
It is cool.
That is a cool thing that he was willing to do that.
All these UK guys.
And then watching the current team celebrating with the past guys on the floor,
Drew, that's awesome to me.
I mean, I watched Otega away.
I guess it was with Duran Lamb.
And they were like dapping it up after the game.
How can you not love that if you're a Kentucky fan?
Yeah, that's the best part in all this.
The current team was at both games in the crowd.
As you said, celebrating with them afterwards.
Sean Woods in his interview, he's talking about the game and the close call they had,
but he also talked about how important it is and how fun is that these guys get to be Kentucky basketball players again.
I mean, you're a Kentucky basketball player forever, but they're coming back and actually playing in front of fans and doing these events.
And as we've mentioned, guys like Archie and Khalil, it's good reset for them.
It's also just good for Willie to have that moment too.
And these other Harrison's guys that are at the end of their pro careers.
If you were to ask me, give me three of the five UK players that I think the fans were the hardest on during the Cal era.
I would say to you, Archie, Andrew Harrison, Khalil Whitney, and then probably like Ryan Harrow and Devin ask you.
And maybe Severe Wheeler.
Common denominator, by the way, all guards.
Cal put so much pressure on the guards that if they didn't play.
I don't know that we'll ever get that moment with Devin Aske or Ryan Harrow.
Maybe we get it with Severe Wheeler one day.
We'll see.
But those other three, it's nice that they still come back and they get to have these moments.
And that's the day when they said down with this, they all three kind of said that, man.
We want to come back and feel the love, maybe some that we missed that a little bit when we were here first time.
Come back.
The twins said they want to come back for a second year.
Willie comes back for a second year because of that love they felt from the fan base, not for the basketball from the fans.
That's why they came back.
Jeremy.
Go ahead, Jeremy.
Yeah, guys, I was just going to talk about Lafamilia there.
I watched the third quarter of the last of the game.
And the funniest thing for me, the best thing.
I thought it was really great.
I'll agree with you all about, like, guys playing for the YMCA playing.
But at the end of the game, there was an issue with the,
there was a call on the court, and the referees got together on the sidelines.
What the coaches were right beside of them.
And the Auburn coach goes, you can't do that to my guys.
I know it's Kentucky, and they paid you, but you still can't do that.
my gas.
No, did he say, and they paid you?
I didn't hear that.
That's funny.
Yeah, it was the funniest thing I heard about fell out in the floor laughing.
I was like, oh, my gosh, that's the greatest thing.
The next to what I like about it is because it's just like regular guys playing ball.
It is.
I appreciate the call.
I didn't hear that.
I love listening to the refs be miced up because they didn't know the rules.
Like, they were sitting there arguing about the 10-second violation, and it was clear no one
knew what.
Exactly what it was.
I don't know where they got those referees,
but they probably ought to stay in that division, whatever it was.
I'm trying to remember the exact quote,
but they caught a great moment of Sean Woods' argument with the ref,
and he's like, I'm on you.
I'm on you don't even know what you're doing.
You don't even know the rule.
Well, he was right.
They didn't know.
He's like, I caught you, but I've enjoyed that.
I'm surprised we didn't get salty your language with the coaches mic up,
but it's fun hearing them go back and forth with the refs.
There's no doubt that they did not know what was going on during that situation.

Emily Abadi, we sit down with the most inspiring women in sports and wellness. Professional
athletes, coaches, and Olympic champions to talk about the challenges that shaped them and the mindset
that keeps them going. From the WNBA standout Kate Martin and rising hockey star Layla Edwards.
If a boy can do it, I don't see why a girl can't. Like, I've never understood that. Like,
it didn't make sense in my brain. It's hard to be in spaces that no one looks like you,
but don't ever feel like you don't belong. Don't let that be the reason you don't do it.
An Olympic champs Gabby Thomas and Katie Ledecki.

I like this song, Shannon.
It's good for the TDT, you know.
Yeah.
They're not as good as they once was,
but they'll be good in one game or one play.
The Avet Brother,
I saw on TikTok a version of the Avet Brothers
doing this song in Louisville.
Oh, really? Okay. I haven't seen their version of it.
And it's really good.
I don't know. You wouldn't have thought they would do a Toby Key song.
Yeah.
But it's really good.
I think they did it maybe right after he died.
And so I keep it saved on my TikTok.
One person writes, Matt, I don't understand why Mario would not want to go to China, gets to see his brother, gets to see a foreign country.
Is there any foreign country Mario would want to go to?
Any foreign country at all?
Get on the microphone here.
Get on there.
Anywhere you.
Anywhere you.
You just said you didn't want to go to Spain.
No, I'll go to Spain.
We're going to do that walk next April.
Yeah.
No, no.
I mean, you understand.
That's a 40-day walk.
And it's in Spain.
Spain, Europe.
Are you having a group?
agreed to it yet.
Jerusalem.
I know that's the place I want to go there now.
Are you going to be?
Have you been following the news?
Yeah, that's true.
I don't want to go there.
I mean, not right now.
Rome.
Okay.
So 40-day walk.
We can do that 40-day walk.
Okay.
Another person writes,
I agree with Mario.
They detain foreign people in China for nothing.
Dangerous.
Hey, you've been watching the news, man?
You can see what's happening here?
I saw Mario, your boy.
Your boy,
Brony will be in China soon.
You can go watch him play.
That's true.
That's exactly right.
Maybe he'll be playing against your brother.
That's right.
You can go see Brani play against your brother.
That would be...
That would get him there.
That would get him there.
Yeah.
Well,
I bought my South Africa plane ticket yesterday.
Yeah.
Not cheap.
I went ahead and just doing the direct flight both ways.
Are you? Yeah.
14 hours one way, 15 hours the other way.
Are you got a first class seat?
You got a little bed you can sleep in?
You don't have to know what kind of class I'm flying.
I want to fly one time in those little beds.
You have to go overseas now.
They don't do that like in a domestic flight.
You can't take that down to Panama City.
Yeah, you don't have.
The Destin Flight doesn't have the pods.
Allegiant flight from a Lerick.
The Allegiant flight to Myrtle Beach does not have a lay flat bed.
What do you do to pass the time on a 14-hour flight?
Well, I did bite the bullet and buy the, because I can't sit up that long.
Yeah.
So I bought the lay flat.
Are they big enough?
I mean, you're 6'4.
Are they big enough?
If you do that, but like in a regular seat, that would be.
But it's, I mean, it's 15 hours.
You know, they serve you multiple meals.
Yeah.
But it's a long, that's a long way.
It's a very long way.
Very long.
You dolly movies?
Do you read?
You try to sleep?
Try to sleep, not well.
I will do, I'll do like TV shows, movies, movies, read.
It's a long.
time. I mean, you just get restless. You can walk around. Like, they'll let you do a lap.
Yeah. So I'll do that. But it's a long time. I'm dreading the flight. I'm looking forward to the
trip, but I'm, I'm dreading the flight. 15 hours. And I saw the itinerary of what we're doing.
We're going scuba diving. That's going to be a problem for me. You'll like it. I don't swim.
Stay in the boat that day. This is more of a dive than a swim. I mean, I can die. The question is, can I
come back.
I certainly can fall in.
The question is, well, I get back out.
You're repelling down a mountain.
Awesome.
Three nights.
Three nights in the Kruger National Park Safari Reserve.
That'll be fun.
They'll keep you protected.
So I get to, in theory, see, they say we might see a giraffe, a lion, an elephant.
You know, they're going to.
and I don't really like dogs, so this is going to be a step up for that for me.
Trying new things.
Yeah.
We had famed South African Aiden Leros, Kentucky's punter last week, and I tried to get tips for you,
but we ran out of time.
Yeah, we had him on to talk about his toughness.
He's toughness rating.
He's got a good personality.
He's really good.
I don't want to say there's potential to add a new foreign punter to a KSR road trip on down the road.
He has that level of personality.
He was pretty funny.
Well, did you ask him for tips for when I go?
I had it on my list.
We did.
We got up against the heartbreak.
You didn't ask him what I should do in South Africa?
Well, media day is coming.
I guess I'll ask him.
Yeah.
Wow.
Well, we had so much to get to with him.
I had it written down.
We just didn't get to it.
Well, the itineraries a lot of that kind of stuff, you know.
And it's, it's, I mean, there's some, good for you, man.
There's historical stuff.
There's like going and seeing Mandela things.
But then there's like, they, oh, I have to go see penguins.
Oh, that'll be fun.
Yeah.
Yeah.
An octopus.
Oh.
like did you see the net we talked about this that Netflix documentary my octopus teacher oh yeah they're there so I can South Africa yes what are you most nervous about the repelling or the scuba diving or the octopus or the flight I mean really none of it is pleasant
actually I say it out loud it's like you're signing up for doing things you hate so a couple things I'm looking forward to seeing all the like we're going to like the prison where they held Mandela okay so I think that history is going to be
really fascinating.
I'm looking forward to being in a completely different country.
Like while I love Europe and have been there a bunch, it is in the ballpark of America.
It's different.
Definitely different, but in the ballpark.
Sure.
But like Mexico, in rural Mexico is a different world.
This is going to be a different world.
So I'm looking forward to that.
I'm very much not looking forward to the flights.
Just I don't like to fly.
and then that long, it's just a long time.
But I also want to challenge my, I mean, like, this is a, this is like, there's part of me that goes, you know what?
I'm right there at middle age.
Is this a midlife crisis?
It's not a midlife crisis.
I mean, I have to go for this fellowship.
I didn't pick this place.
Like, they pick, we were supposed to go to Israel.
And then they were like, can't go there.
Can't go to Israel.
But this was supposed to be a trip to Israel.
So, this is plan B.
Plan B.
So they switch from Israel to South Africa.
But, yeah, there's a sense of this is like, you know, you're in your middle of your life.
If you're not going to do this now, Ryan, when are you going to do it?
You know what I mean?
Like, when are you going to do something like this?
No wife, no kids?
Might as well have experienced life like this.
You said you read the itinerary.
Is there another like play or?
Play.
Like you had to, you guys had a play one time.
Oh, no.
We have a lot of speakers.
So like we're going to the South African.
presidential palace.
We're going to the South African Parliament.
That kind of stuff.
Elon's boyhood home?
I don't know if that's on the...
I don't know if that's on the interior or not.
But we'll see.
I'm looking forward to it, but buying that flight...
I want to ask you a question that I don't know the answer to.
Is it safe where you're going?
I mean, we should hope.
No, it is.
It's like any other city.
Like, if you talk to Europeans, they'll say,
America's so dangerous.
Yeah.
Not really.
It's only dangerous if you go to the wrong parts at the wrong times.
And if you mind your own business, you know what I mean?
Like, it's more dangerous there than it is here.
But it's all, it's mostly tied to drug trafficking.
And I'm going to stay.
Stay away.
I'm not even going to take my cornbread hemp.
So, I mean, I think it's going to be, I think it's going to be all right.
We'll take a break.
859-28027.
It's KSR.
T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney.
Call T.J.
He'll make them pay.
Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio.
presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Here's Matt Jones.
Welcome back, Tugey Sports Radio.
The negative is I'm going to miss the Eastern Michigan football game.
What, eastern Michigan and South Carolina.
Then I'll be back for the Georgia again.
Two wins.
You'll miss two Kentucky wins.
For 4 and 0 right there.
For 4 and 0, my flight lands in Atlanta.
I'll just go down to Athens and watch the game.
We'll meet you there.
Yeah, me, me there.
Burn the ships.
while you were gone, I started to get sucked in already.
I heard Stoops talking in SEC Media.
Hang on, I want to talk about that in just a second.
859-280-2287.
Let's go to Jake.
Go ahead, Jake.
Hi, how you doing?
What's up?
I just want to say, you mentioned the Lexington FC, Blue City soccer game,
and I'm from Lexington, but I've lived in Louisville now for a few years,
and I've been a supporter of Louisville City since before Lexington FC was a thing,
and now the Lexington S.D. is around.
I kind of find myself cheering for them deep down a little bit.
And they just still kind of blast them to me.
Yeah, I just wanted to get your input on that.
Yeah, I mean, that's a tough thing because I went to some Louisville City games,
and, like, it's tough because we didn't think we'd have a team in Lexington.
But even though I got nothing against Louisville City, I'm not anti-Luval City.
You've got to switch to Lexington now.
At least I do. Do you?
It was an easy switch.
I got all the merch now.
I got all the Lou City merchant stuff.
Yeah, that's tough.
I appreciate it.
I appreciate the call.
That's a hard situation.
And I could say, I think you could cheer for them both.
If it gets to where we want it to be, we want a nasty rivalry.
I think maybe right now, while it's fresh, you can be in a little awkward gray area,
figuring things out.
But in time, you've got to pick a side.
I do think you have to come over probably, yeah.
I've been to Louisville City many times.
They took good care of me.
I have a jersey, have a scarf.
I've worn the purple.
But Lexington, Ron, you know where I live.
can, from my front porch to my seat, it's like six minutes. That's got to be my team.
It's Lexington. So I'm hanging up my purple and wearing green.
I can see that guy maybe going to other Louisville City games, you know, and support them then.
But if they're playing Lexington. I've flipped. I'd still root for the Louisville, the women's team.
Yeah. And I would root for like a Louisville NBA team. But the moment Lexington gets a team, I have to shift.
Right. I mean, they're icicles. Look at that. Yeah. I mean, they're in Louisville.
this is Lexington.
Tony Delk put out a video preview in the Commonwealth Cup,
away rocking the jersey.
They're attaching themselves to UK.
That's what they should do.
That's what they should do.
Judy is in Mount Sterling.
Judy.
Hey, how are you all?
Good.
What's up?
Well, good to have you back.
Matt.
I'm glad you had a safe and great trip.
Thank you.
Who came up with the name, La Famula?
La Famula.
Famula was from John Calapari.
He came up with it.
I think they, did it have something to do with Drake?
I can't remember.
I just know he wanted the Italian version.
But La Familia is Spanish.
So that's a good point.
But yes, it's a Cal thing.
And I want to say maybe it had a Drake connection,
although that might, is it, am I right about that?
Yeah, it's Drake.
Even more reason to change the name.
Yeah, exactly.
Separate from that.
I tell you, I've never, I've never seen how
I'm just thinking of names.
What are you going to say?
Give me a quick one.
Okay, quick one.
Wildcat fever, cat scratch fever,
but we did get an approval from Bob Seeger to do that.
I believe it's Ted Nugent.
Well, I appreciate the call, Judy.
Thank you.
I think fever.
She wants the fever in it.
Yeah.
But you were in the team celebration.
Mario is, Mario literally, he essentially plays for the team.
I saw this last year while you were gone when they're at Rupp Arena.
They're credentialed media.
You get to go to media areas.
But when you walk with Mario, it's like you're walking in with the team president.
There's like no area of Mario can't go.
No, he's Travis Kelsey to Taylor Swiftcon.
Exactly.
That is exactly who he is.
Mario is the most important person at a law familiar game.
There might be like, hey, whoa, whoa, you're not supposed to be here.
I'm with Mario.
Oh, we're sorry.
Sorry about that.
We didn't know you were with Mario.
He's behind the bench with DJ Burns celebrating with the crowd, getting everybody jacked up.
Right.
He's the connection to the family.
Brenda, go ahead, Brenda.
Hey.
How are you doing?
Good.
Good.
It's got to be the call of the day.
That is going to be our call today.
That is going to be our call today.
Yeah, well, you know what?
Thank you for checking in.
I'm doing really well.
So why are you getting sucked in by Mark Stoops?
He gave a little, not at the podium, but he gave like a little press coverage for the local media.
You know, it was like Nick and Adam Luckett and John Hale and Dick Gabriel, like the local guys.
And I saw some mad, cocky, ticked off Mark Stoops that I used to see, you know, five, six, seven years ago.
Like I feel like maybe he's bringing that back, that attitude.
So that got me sucked in.
Like, yeah, man, that's what I need to hear from my coach.
Justin, he sounded motivated?
I believe he was very motivated.
No, grateful.
We switched to grateful while you were gone.
Oh, it's grateful now?
Yeah, you missed that.
Why is he grateful?
Well, Nick Roush, Nick.
First question in the big ballroom at the Omni.
Nick Roush, Kentucky Sports Radio.
You mean to everyone?
I'm watching live at TV on SEC Network.
Nick Roush, Kentucky Sports Radio.
Mark, how motivated would you say you are?
He did not do that.
question. First question. And what did the big screen say? You could see by his facial
expression. He's aware of... Do you think Mark Stoops likes Nick Rosh? Oh, yeah. I think he does.
Because I mean, in the last two years, he's made fun of Stoops for going bald.
Yes. He's brought up the motivated thing. Like, does he like him? Nick's getting a little
too comfortable, don't you think? Nick is very comfortable. But that's what we want. What do you
get into? Mark, how's the team look? How's the like? How's Zach? No, he went straight to how
motivated are you and that was the story mark he's aware of the memes it was very clear i don't think
he likes them he said he does not like he said something like this is like a little game the media is
playing bring it on or something like that he said i consider myself more grateful and because the internet
is the internet all the memes that's like we've not we i didn't do it but they flipped a switch in
the meme making factory and they all say grateful like praying hands oh so remember the one you shared
where he's got the drink and maybe maybe a smoke and it said motivated there's fire someone
read it and it says grateful now. Someone send me the grateful ones. I haven't seen the grateful ones. Oh, we got a bunch of them.
Will you send me the, so. But that was the headline. But I prefer motivated. Why won't they just embrace it? Just embrace the mode. Like, none of this is going to matter if we lose anyway.
Well, why not just lean into it and make it a thing? Why is he great? Well, what's he grateful about? He's been getting blasted for a year by people. What's he? This is back to my original. Like, Ryan loved it. Like we saw he drank the Kool-Aid. I saw it as more.
of just getting a little defensive and
you know, not wanting to make the headlines
and leave me along. Again, I didn't hear any of this.
You don't think he was defensive?
Oh, I, he was...
That doesn't really look like a grateful.
Okay. Okay, now that's grateful.
He's praying.
Yeah. Okay.
Yeah. I mean... There we go.
All right. I like this. That's on KSR Plus.
Okay. Yeah, we're just...
Twitter had fun with it, too. But it's now great for Steve.
I see that one. Yeah, I got that one. That's good.
But you liked it. You think this is good?
stop, he's not kneeling.
Like that's funny.
Motivated by gratitude.
Okay, I like that one.
I like, you know, his face gets a little red, the veins pop out in his neck, and
you get ticked off Mark Stoop.
That's what I'll, that's what I need this year.
The brain hands, Mark Stoops.
But is there a difference between, there is a difference between being like,
Shane just keeps showing me these.
You're just showing me in him in Pope, like Pope poses, like where he's the Pope.
you think that he's going to you think him angry and being sort of mean to the media is the way to go?
I think so.
He needs that chip on his shoulder.
They seem to do better.
The team does better.
He does better when he's got that chip on his shoulder.
And I feel like he's got it right now.
So I love it.
Yeah.
He doesn't like Nick Rouse, right?
He can't.
Because Nick asked him like two years ago, Nick said, Mark, when are you coming home?
And it was at the time I always kind of rumored.
And Stoop's eyes get bit.
like, are you asking me about the Iowa job right now?
And then Nick points at Nick's own baldhead.
It's like, no, come home to the ballroom.
I mean, I would not say that to anyone.
I was standing behind the camera, and I had to, with both hands, pick my jaw off the carpet in Nashville.
It's like Nick feels like he has a comfort level with these people.
I like it, though.
I mean, I guess it works.
Better than going in there and just blending it.
So you're saying you think Stubes does like.
Roush.
Yes.
I do not think he likes the motivated talk this summer.
So you don't think he likes those memes?
I not 1% of him likes him.
He seemed to get very red and defensive when asked.
See, I don't know why he wouldn't.
Because, like, to me, that's his personality,
because he says motivated all the time.
So now is he, like, intentionally not saying the word?
Seems like it.
He said, I've just as motivated as I've been every year.
Nothing's changed.
He even said that he's not kind of hiding,
like a lot of people think he has this offseason,
being more quiet.
Yeah.
He said, I'm just doing what I've always done.
Yeah, but that's not true.
I agree. That's what was said.
Okay.
That got Ryan on board to the original point.
All these things got Ryan on board.
So you're on board.
I feel a lot better about the season than I did before last week.
All right.
So let's see who's on board, who's off board.
Shannon's been on board.
He's predicting a winning season.
Yeah.
Are you on board?
I'm not there to maybe the six and six.
Are you on board or not?
I'm on board.
On board.
Are you on board?
If on board means six wins.
If it means six wins, no.
I'm not on board with that.
I don't think I'm on board yet.
I'm excited.
I just don't have optimism.
Mario, are you on board?
No.
All right.
So two,
two on.
There's not going to be any room on this boat when you guys are on board later.
No, no, I'll get on when I want to get on.
I'll purchase the ticket when it's time to purchase the ticket.
You're in the water scuba diving.
Don't let the dock.
Can't come back to do you.
I'm still got my life jacket on trying to figure out whether or not I want to get on the
swimming out there trying to get us.
That's right.
I'm doggy paddling.
trying to figure it out.

Grateful.
Grateful.
It just doesn't roll off the tongue like motivated.
I prefer motivated.
Grateful, although Shannon loves they.
Shannon has shown me six pictures of things.
We'll take a break very back.

One person writes, Matt,
Matt, take Ryan being on board with a grain of salt.
He also falls for pyramid schemes.
That's not very nice.
That's not very nice.
I just feel like I was probably
maybe the worst pessimistic guy of all of us to start with.
Now I've moved up a little bit.
I'm not all the way there, but I've moved up a little bit.
One person writes, Matt, what happened to Jesser?
What did happen to Jester?
I think he heard that, you know, we were going to do with this interview while you were gone,
and he just says, I'm out, forget it, I'm done.
So, I mean, that felt like a key part of our squad.
Yeah.
Where did he go?
Do you think yesterday they were missing Jessor down the stretch?
I feel like down the stretch when they needed to be, if they had Jesser, would he have even gotten in?
I guess he might have gotten in that first game.
They wanted Jesser for his 3 million followers of teenagers.
So I heard, I didn't get to watch the first game.
I heard the team we played was not good.
First of all, if you want to talk about the first game,
we heard audio that would have made KSR sound like it was, you know,
perfectly produced.
That was the worst audio.
I thought Ryan had met Robbie Hummel in the parking lot with our equipment for that first game.
Did you all watch and hear that?
It was like popping and staticy.
They eventually turned it off and just didn't.
didn't have sound while they played for a little while.
Oh, really?
So it's not just us.
That was an improvement.
It didn't have sound at all.
It was actually better.
Yeah.
Who did we play?
Who's Stro's squad?
I don't even know who they were.
I have no idea.
I held by 53 points, whatever it was.
Yeah, I had the under.
I even encouraged it.
Yeah, he did.
Last week.
Third quarter killed us.
We scored 12 points in like 17 seconds when Stroh Squad just quit playing.
It was like, just lay up, lay up, lay up, and destroyed us.
They had no business being on the same floor.
A lot of them from Ohio.
Jesser would have got in that game for sure.
Jesser would have played a lot.
So no Jesser.
No jessor.
So what's the story?
Why no Jessor?
I think there was some contract scheduling issues.
Oh, there was a contract issue.
I think so.
We've heard leg and schedule.
Yeah.
I haven't seen him.
All right.
Well, there you go.
Jeff, go ahead, Jeff.
Hey, Matt.
First of all, the guys did a great job last week with you out of town.
And I always love when Ryan
is running things around there.
You never know what he's going to say, so it keeps us all on our edge.
Secondly, I went to South Africa two years ago on a hunting safari,
my wife and I and her brother and his wife,
had an amazing time, 16-hour flight from to Johannesburg from Atlanta.
And it wasn't bad, like you said, you get up, you walk around,
but I'd say you did the right thing by spending the extra money on the pod to lay out flat.
We did not have that, and I'm 6'3.
so I had to do a lot of walking around.
But overall, it was an amazing trip and an amazing country to go visit.
Thank you.
I appreciate you being encouraging.
Appreciate the call.
I've had a lot of people be like, oh, you know, they're going to kidnap you and sell you for ransom.
And it's like, that's not what you want to hear.
I'm going.
You know what I mean?
Like, what are you going to do for me?
And if they do that, we'll pull our money and buy you back.
I'm going on it.
We'll leave you there.
Yeah, I mean, I totally trust.
our leadership to handle it well.
If you're in your shoes, I'd go and be very excited.
We'll start the GoFund.
Me and me, if people will pay $5,000 to watch Ryan,
eat down a lot.
Everybody should have gotten their money back by now.
If you didn't, let me know, but I think everybody got their money back by now.
Matt, go ahead, Matt.
Hey, Matt, what's up, guys?
What's going on?
Matt, I'm sorry if you've already seen this or heard of this,
I apologize, but I'm sure there's people in the room that have it or may be listening.
You mentioned Kruger.
there was a famous video from like 15, 20 years ago on YouTube called Battle at Kruger
that's worth of watch. It's like 18 minutes long. You can fast forward the first few minutes,
but it's a pretty amazing video. Somebody took on a safari where like these lions are
attacking this buffalo, and it has a very happy ending. Everyone does well in the end.
So try not to avert your eyes too early.
They become friends. Then this crocodile gets involved. And yeah, then the buffalo's herd comes
and saves them and everyone runs off the pretty amazing video to see all the animals.
It kid involved as wild.
Okay.
Well, I will look at it.
I actually have not seen it.
Battle at Kruger.
Battle at Kruger.
I appreciate the call.
Do you like Anna?
I've been kind of become an animal person.
Like not to watch them on screens, not to be with them.
But to watch them like the British guy, David Attenborough.
And when he's like, the crane comes in and like I enjoy that.
Funny you asked this weekend.
three episodes of the Americas narrated by Tom Hanks.
I think it's produced by the same people's planet Earth, but it's odd...
The planet earth videos are so good.
Yeah, this one just covers the Americas, just our terrain here.
But I knocked out three of them.
I'm with you, though.
I'm getting into the nature a little more than I thought I went.
That's how you know you're getting old as you start like going, you know what I'd like to
sit down tonight?
I'd like to see a nature video.
And then you go, what happened to me?
I went to a National Park just a few weeks ago.
I bought like stickers.
I bought stickers.
I'm like, I can't wait for my next.
National Park. Like, who are you? What is going on here? Why do I want to go
go see Mountain Zion or whatever it's called so bad? Herb.
What's up, Herb? Hey, guys. Love the show.
Hey, you there? Yes, go ahead.
All right, love the show. I like Cat Nation because we're bigger than anything local.
And then also on the stoops on the defense. How come we don't blitz all the time? We can't
line up straight up with all the FCC team. We need to blitz like 50% of the
time instead of 20.
You know, I think it's a fair question.
I appreciate the call.
I mean, in years past, they didn't blitz because I think, Ryan, they thought that they could
hold up against a lot of these teams, but in recent years, maybe we should have done it
a little bit more.
That seems to be the one complaining of Brad White defense that they don't blitz enough.
And I need guys like Freddie to explain it to me, because I don't know the answer to that.
Yeah, I think it used to be that they felt like they were solid enough that they could
not blitz.
And I think some years they have been.
but in the last couple years that's not been the case.
Now that's Brad White's defense.
He likes to give a cushion, keep everything in front of them,
and just try to not get beat deep
and hope you don't get nickel and dime down the field,
which we've seen many times.
Yeah, well, Ryan's in now.
I'm in, all in.
Ryan's on the boat.
Grateful got him in.
It's funny.
Grateful Mark Stoves.
This is my only advice, UK.
Just chill and like,
embrace this stuff.
I mean, it's all going to play out in the end.
Why not get people excited?
I mean, I guess it worked with Ryan, with the great.
I'm in.
But I think if he would do the motivated,
recreate the pictures and the memes,
I think it would be smart.
But we will be back tomorrow here all week.
This game tomorrow night?
Tomorrow night.
All right.
We'll see you later.
It's been KSR.
Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy,
not quite unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends,
me and hilarious guests from Bob
Codenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, S&L's Mikey Day and headwriter, Streeter Seidel, help an
a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

Last night, a blown call changed a game.
This morning, the internet lost its mind, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened.
That's where SportsSlice comes in.
I'm Timbo.
In every episode, we're cutting through the noise,
breaking down the biggest moments in sports
and giving you the real story behind the headline.
And we're going straight to the source,
the athletes themselves,
their locker room stories,
their reactions in the moment,
and the stuff nobody gets to hear.

Hey, what's good, y'all?
You're listening to learn the hard way.
your favorite therapist and host, Kear Games.
This space is about black men's experiences,
having honest conversations that it's really not safe to have anywhere,
but you're having them with a licensed professional who knows what he's doing.
How many men carry a suit or armor?
It signals to the world that you not to be played with.
And just because you have the capability that does not mean that you need to,
