Starting point is 00:02:52 It isn't Ask Anything Wednesday. You can give us a shout on the Clark's Puppet Shop phone line. That's 859-280-287. You can ask any questions. question and we will answer it. Yeah, we haven't had one of these in a few weeks. So catch up. AVVision Auto Glass Text Machine is 772-745254 in this edition sponsored by the T.J. Smith Law Office, you call T.J. He'll make them pay. I have Drew seven hours of radio today. It's a lot of talking. Goodness. You got these two hours. Then I have a podcast and then I have three hours of ESPN tonight. My goodness. So at the end of tonight, I'm not going to want to say anything. Yeah, during the breaks, you just sit in the dark and not speak to anyone when you're down in your downtime?
Starting point is 00:03:35 Yeah, yesterday I walked to a coffee shop and started reading. And this person came up and they didn't know who I was, but they just wanted to talk. And I had to give one of the like, hey, it's good to meet you because I just, I can't talk anymore. This is my quiet time. This is my quiet time. And it was also a big night at the Tour de France. So when I got home, I needed to watch him go all the way up the mountain, too. Well, it's a Paul Feinbaum type of day.
Starting point is 00:04:00 The four-hour show used to do some of those days you have. Yeah, but he doesn't talk, though. That's true. That's right. And a lot of commercials. There's a lot of commercials. And I don't feel sorry for him at all. He doesn't speak.
Starting point is 00:04:12 That's fair. So he just sits there and he's got the easiest job in the world, Shannon. He just sits there. Let's callers talk for 10 minutes straight. He's got the easiest job. He has figured it out, you know. He's getting paid that big salary. You know, he has to do a sit there like a puppet.
Starting point is 00:04:26 He doesn't have to do anything. And so, listen, good for him. That's the kind of world that you probably want to have. I've noticed sometimes, I don't hear it often, but sometimes he'll just not even react to the caller. Like, he'll actually intentionally have five seconds of silence. You know his brain is like gone somewhere else. And then he'll just go, well, whatever, you know.
Starting point is 00:04:44 So 859-2802287. So last night, another absurdly exciting TVT game, except this one ends in defeat. law familiar goes down 71 what was it 71 70 70 yeah yes the rule of 71 in complete and total existence um i you know fs 2 i had to like get out the antenna to figure out where it was got it but it was very exciting and um tough break for law familiar they're down most of the first half then they go out a 16-0 run in the second half get the lead, looks like they're going to win. They get a steal.
Starting point is 00:05:30 It was another game where everybody just would only shoot a three at the end. There was another game of absurdity. Willie looks like he has a wide open dunk, gets fouled, fakes an injury. Then Archie Goodwin ends up shooting the free throw, makes the first, misses the second. They get a rebound and shoot four threes, hit the fourth. just chaos right chaos during the game and we end up losing first of all i could not believe how anxious and nervous i was once they posted that elam ending i'm i can't believe i got that anxious about the basketball game and then with the way it ended first of all they should mike every referee
Starting point is 00:06:14 forever and ever after that that referee's like he ain't hurt he ain't hurt you just free throw you ain't you ain't hurt yeah he didn't say he ain't hurt but he doesn't say he ain't hurt but he shouldn't But how do you prove somebody's hurt, Shannon? You can't, right? Well, I mean, I thought that was pretty obvious. But, I mean, Willie got up and made a B-line for the locker room. Yeah, he did. He went to the locker room.
Starting point is 00:06:35 They had to drag him out of their kicking and screaming. Was it worth all that? No. I was more upset last night than I have been in actual NCAA tournament losses that Kentucky's suffered. I woke up mad. Hey, we should not be this bad. There should not be a close game yet. What do you mean?
Starting point is 00:06:55 We should not have been close with war ready. Last night, okay, they're pretty good. That seems pretty good. All right. Still, 54% from the free throw line for the tournament. That's bad. That is horrible. But that's the Calgary area. There was no offense.
Starting point is 00:07:09 There was no offense. I don't know if Sean Woods needs to be on the hot seas. I don't know what's going on. But I woke up angry. I think Sean Woods got to be on the hot seat for the coach. No offense to Sean Woods. He's got, they don't run anything. They should have dominated those teams.
Starting point is 00:07:21 They don't run anything ever, ever. Archie Goodwin and Khalil Whitney and Andrew. Those were the three. And I love Willie. He should have shot the free throws. I'm sorry. In the moment, I was like, how does the ref- Are you surprised that Willie, like, I mean,
Starting point is 00:07:37 players usually think they can make the shots. Yeah, and Archie, I mean, no offense to Archie. It's been a good week for Archie, but he hadn't made a free throw since he's been in Lexington this week. So did the other team get to pick Archie? Is that how Archie ended up at the free throw? Probably, I wanted Willie. It was Willie's moment.
Starting point is 00:07:51 Will you shoot him. But why didn't Willie, The assistant told him to sit. I don't know who that assistant is. Get him out. Why don't they have so many coaches, Shannon? I don't know. They got as many coaches as that. Who are these people?
Starting point is 00:08:04 I don't know, but they were doing the college football thing. Take a dive, you know, get on the hand signal. The one that's so willing to dive lost the whole tournament for him. That moment ended it. Karma got him. The basketball gods said no. Basketball gods don't like that. They had to have been planning it because he went down quick.
Starting point is 00:08:21 It was going on all game long. I mean, there's other audio of the ref going, no, he's just taking a dive every time he gets hit. Like, it was going on throughout the game. That wasn't the first time that happened. But he took a dive after he got here. He walked to the free throw line. Yeah, I mean, he did. That was, you're right.
Starting point is 00:08:37 The Old Miss football thing. We're better than that. We're better than that. They lost because they did that. Willie would have hit both. I'm surprised Willie didn't want to take the free throw. Man, you're a competitor. This is your moment.
Starting point is 00:08:47 But then you lose Willie, and on the other end, you can't get a rebound. Yeah. Because they had five, they basically had five guards in. Willie should have came out and he should have came out of that locker room and got that rebound for him. Even if Willie misses the free throws, he's still in the game. Yeah, he's still in the game. And then, you know, they did a pretty good job guarding, but then they had one defensive breakdown and that guy gets open.
Starting point is 00:09:09 Like everybody else was taking contested shots. And I think they were missing so badly. That's why they were getting the rebounds. Because they weren't even close, the shots. To be fair, it's hard to rebound a ball when it's like can go. anywhere. You know what I was doing at home? Screaming foul. Give them two. You only need one. You can't. Because if you foul,
Starting point is 00:09:30 I want them to foul up three before we even got to the Willie free throw thing. I don't think you know what the rule is. The rule is if you file in that situation, you get one free throw in the ball. Well, give them a layup. You don't know. Definitely give them a lay. I would not have left the three point line. I would have all the twos you want. Give them the layup, but you can't file. That's true. That's a rule. I wanted them to just give them the pass.
Starting point is 00:09:53 of the two before we even got to the Willie free throw. I actually think it would be interesting if you just, because everybody's brain is to score. If you just moved out of the way and let them get the layup. Then you have the ball only needed two points. You got to score. But still, they could have gotten a rebound. It was just very frustrated.
Starting point is 00:10:11 And I hate that Archie had to miss that free throw. You know, there was, there's a video of him at the end of the game. And he looks like he's going to cry. I mean, I hate, he had such a good experience with this, with this week. And I actually think he's done an amazing job to have this fan base. I agree. Like, I think this fan base loves him. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:31 Don't you? I mean, we were pretty mad in the games, but that's what we do. We're a little crazy. We're archie moments. But overall, he and Kalil winning. I think this has been like an Archie A-plus week. He and Kalil, they could not have had a better experience. I'll speak for them.
Starting point is 00:10:43 Just seeing it's second hand. About to cry. If I lost a million dollars, I'd be crying too. I think that's why he was crying. Yeah, I mean, that was. And his old team. They're advancing without him. They're advancing without.
Starting point is 00:10:53 him, that's tough, you know. And they're good, like, a lot of the other favorites keep losing. So, like, that team last night could win the whole thing. You had Kentucky had slough of me, had it set where they were going to have a home field advantage throughout the rest of the tournament, even the final four. It was all set up for them. Yeah. The biggest
Starting point is 00:11:09 losers of the tournament, they were billing Kentucky Louisville all summer. Well, and didn't Wichita State lose and Syracuse lost and Wichita State. So the four, the four teams that sold the most tickets all got beat. in the last two days.
Starting point is 00:11:25 So I think the theory was the game would be at Louisville. If it wasn't at Louisville, it would be at Kentucky. If it wasn't at Syracuse, it wasn't at Syracuse would be at Wichita State. Now they've all lost. The Ohio State team lost two. Oh, the Ohio State team lost two. There's going to be 32 people at the championship game. They're going to have this game at like the YMCA somewhere because all of the hosts have
Starting point is 00:11:46 and I think maybe West Virginia is where they'll end up having it. But basically all of the teams that hosted. have now lost, so I don't know that they have a place to even play the game. And that Kentucky Louisville, they were counting on that. That really was like a tournament atmosphere last year. They've been marketing around that for a year, and neither team is even at that stage. Big loss for them. So do you think Sean Woods and the coaches had an argument about the shot clock resetting
Starting point is 00:12:10 when it didn't hit the rim in that last possession? I guess I didn't totally follow that. Should the shot clock have gone away? I looked at me like in the replay it did not hit the rim. The first one did not. Yeah. Did the second one hit the rim? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:12:24 They didn't reset the shot clock. I think on the first one. Well, the first one did not hit the rim. Right. But I think that the second shot went up before the clock would have expired anyway. And I think the second shot hit the rim. Yeah, I did. So, I mean, I, maybe I'm wrong.
Starting point is 00:12:39 Maybe somebody can tell me otherwise. I didn't understand. I saw everyone yelling about the shot clock, but I didn't really understand what they were yelling about. The first time was an air ball, but I think they got the second one off very quickly after that. And hit the rim. And hit the rim. And then I think.
Starting point is 00:12:51 get reset. I mean, I might be wrong about that. I don't know. I wasn't 100%. I was more just going, why can't we get a rebound? At that point, it was such a circus. So let's say we win. Let's say we win. Would you have been embarrassed if we won with the Willie flop? I'll be honest. You know, we're fans and we're not crazy. We're fanatics. I would have been all for it if it had worked. I'm very against it because we lost. I'm very disappointed. Had it worked, I would have been patting them on the back. I mean, I was prepared to say it was one of the great plays of all time. I wanted Willie to have that moment, though. He played 18 at Piccadome that morning. He was calm. The gay brewer vibes were still in him, got him calm down. He would have made both free throws. Would have been a perfect ending.
Starting point is 00:13:36 They're a player short. I mean, you know, I feel like I say, I can't believe we're breaking this down as a general manager. But they need, they needed Duran Lamb to be a good shooter. And Duran Lamb may just be past playing basketball at this point. He struggled. So they needed a guy like that. Because honestly, if you look at it, we have like four guys who are still really pretty good at basketball. You've got Archie, Whitney, Andrew Harrison, and Burns. Yeah. The rest of the people, to me, I don't know what you. Now, Willie is still a force of nature.
Starting point is 00:14:14 Like, no one that like Willie's in these games. But he's also, I think he told you all he hadn't seen a basketball in like eight months or something. Yeah. So, I mean, we kind of have like four guys that play basketball still. And with KSR. KSR. Kirst Liggins yesterday, he didn't dress last night after we talked about him. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:32 Andrew's got, Andrew's still good. Yeah. Aaron kind of struggled, though. Aaron struggled. Like, it's funny. Andrew's past his brother now. But you're right. The two guys, they would count on to be a shooter, Duran and Aaron, both kind of struggled
Starting point is 00:14:46 the whole tournament. And Canter was much better last year. He was scoring a ton last year. I don't know if we just didn't. go to him. Maybe he's just just falling off, but people kept saying to me how good Canter was last year. I wasn't here. He's not like that now. He was the whole team last year. He and Nate Cistina were doing most of the scoring. That's why I wish they had gone to him a little more this year, unless he just fell off. Were the twins on the team last year? Yeah. And they were good,
Starting point is 00:15:08 but Sistine and Cantor were two of the best a year ago. Either way, it was a tough lot. I couldn't believe how into both of these. I love the tournament, though. It's just absolute chaos. And it looked like we had a good crowd there, didn't it? It looked like a great crowd was there. Maybe a better crowd than Sunday, right? I think. Is Mario okay? I noticed he's not here. Mario was very upset.
Starting point is 00:15:27 Mario was very upset, shit. He texted last night, and he was like, I think Mario likes our TBT team more than he likes our regular team. Yeah. No one has ever taken the TBT more seriously than Mario. Yeah. He was devastated. He and Twani Beckham right now are in recovery during this. He felt like, you know, we all felt when Leitner hit the shot on, you know, Kentucky in 92.
Starting point is 00:15:47 I feel like that's how Mario is feeling right now today. Yeah. Well, it's like I really enjoy it. Now, I probably won't watch any of the rest of it with our folks out of it. I don't know if Eberlin Drive and sideline cancer is going to get huge ratings. But I did really enjoy this for an offseason July. I don't know how you couldn't love it. Yeah, it's a little weird being this mad at Kentucky basketball in July 23rd,
Starting point is 00:16:10 but I'll get over it and look forward to next year. Archie already committed on Twitter. He said he can't go out like that. The Harrisons, I think, committed. Made an Instagram comment. Well, why you have Archie and the Harrisons. You've got the basis for a good team. you can build around that then.
Starting point is 00:16:22 Yeah. But you still, we got to get like... We need to go out and get Ashton Higgins. But what about like a Kellyn Grady? Well, he was on last year's team. He didn't play much. Why didn't he play? He played a little.
Starting point is 00:16:33 He didn't score that much. I mean, last year he was just a year removed from playing. Okay. We got a spot for him on the floor. I would feel like Kelly Grady would still be good. As much as I want Pope's guys to all make the league, I mean, you could have a Lamont bowler, Andrew Carr, Jackson Robinson next year.
Starting point is 00:16:50 Yeah, those guys aren't. The Pope era might actually be good for lawfumer. The Pope era might be the best thing to ever happen to the TVT. We might just get our team the summer after the news. I guess are those guys on NBA deals? Is that why they couldn't play? Yeah, they have training camps right now. But if they don't make a team, I don't know why they wouldn't be eligible.
Starting point is 00:17:08 One day, Antonio Reeves, could be the best player in the history of the TBT. TVT is made for a guy like that. But he's still got a future in the league probably. Well, 859-280-2287. It's Ask Anything Wednesday. I enjoyed the game. Thank you to those guys for keeping the entertainment going for me. I thought it was a lot of fun. And I was on ESPN screaming in the last plays. I was narrating it on national radio. Law Familius game. We'll take a break. Be right back.

Starting point is 00:18:59 about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth, or are you a good person because you're afraid? Starting point is 00:19:39 athletes, coaches, and Olympic champions to talk about the challenges that shaped them and the mindset that keeps them going. From the WNBA standout, Kate Martin, and Wright, hockey star Layla Edwards. If a boy can do it, I don't see why a girl can't. Like, I've never understood that. Like, it didn't make sense in my brain. It's hard to be in spaces that no one looks like you, but don't ever feel like you don't belong.
Starting point is 00:20:00 Don't let that be the reason you don't do it. An Olympic champs, Gabby Thomas and Katie Ladeki. The ability to show a gold medal to someone and have their face light up and smile, that means the world to me. And that's what motivates me to win more gold medals. At our level, at this scale, like being able to fail in front of the entire world.
Starting point is 00:20:20 Like, I can do anything. I can do anything. Because resilience isn't just about winning. It's about showing up, even when it's hard. Listen to Hurtle with Emily Abadi on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner
Starting point is 00:20:37 of IHart Women's Sports. Jacob Kingston grew up in an isolated polygamous sect. We were God's chosen kingdom on earth. He felt destined for greatness. So when a swaggering Armenian businessman catapults Jacob into an extraordinary world, he doesn't look back. Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, meeting the president of Turkey. I'm Michelle McPhee, and this is one of the most shocking criminal conspiracies I've ever come across. When Jacob met Levant, this went to a billion dollar fraud.
Starting point is 00:21:11 But with two kings from entirely different worlds, just how long can their empire survive? The largest tax investigation in American history. You need to tell me what you know. Is somebody coming after me? Jacob told Levan, you're ruining my life. Listen to Kingdom of Fraud on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome back to T-E Sports Radio. All right.
Starting point is 00:21:41 So apparently people are saying the shot clock should have gone off between the first and the second show. Really? But if that's the case, then they should have said. it before he took the second shot. Because they can't wait until after the third shot and say the shot clock could have gone off before the second shot, right? At that point, it had already become so much chaos. I was just like, whatever.
Starting point is 00:22:03 But whatever they want to do, sure. Text machine, 772, 774, what person writes, Matt, how big a buyout did Mitch have in Sean Wood's contract? Yeah, I think we got a Shannon go back to Tyler Ullis. Yeah. I mean, they don't run any offense. I had it on mute because I was on ESPN, so I couldn't hear what was going on.
Starting point is 00:22:26 I could just see it. A lot of people said Cal didn't run any offense the whole time he was here. Well, you did have free throws and shot clock. It's the Cal here again. I saw a good suggestion this morning. I don't know if he'd do it, but next year they should ask Tubby to come back and coach him. That would be cool.
Starting point is 00:22:40 It would be really cool. There's no recruiting. Why did we call time out on the last play? Do we have a timeout? I don't know. when it was when Archie got fouled so that we got two shots
Starting point is 00:22:51 why did we not have a timeout or no wait I guess we got a steal right there but the play before that it was 6868 we had the ball and we didn't call time out either way I can't believe I'm going to but it's still
Starting point is 00:23:05 frustrating because I thought this will be fun we'll play another game absolutely it's a lot of fun I felt like Jesser would have made the difference oh stop it no Jesser would have gotten that rebatch Yeah, you would have got the rebound.
Starting point is 00:23:17 Jesser wouldn't have done anything. His stat line would have been zero. You want to talk about conspiracy theories. The conspiracy theories I've gotten in the last week, number one are Epstein. But number two are Jesser. They're unrelated, right? They are unrelated.
Starting point is 00:23:34 They're unrelated as far as I know. But the amount of people that have theories as to why Jesser didn't play, I've heard everything from a contract dispute. Yeah. To they wouldn't give him the right hotel. to he didn't sell enough tickets when he announced that he was coming. Scheduling was one? The official word was scheduling.
Starting point is 00:23:56 He released a little video said he had a hamstring pool. His thing was an injury. So which one you believe? Yeah. I mean, his people are saying Obama needs to be impeached. I mean, there's a lot of stuff that has come out on Jesser. Shannon, which of the Jesser stories do you believe? I really don't care about any of them, to be honest with you.
Starting point is 00:24:12 But probably, a contract dispute. Yeah, I think what, here's, if I were to guess, just from reading the T-Leaves, I think Jesser was promised money, assuming Jesser would sell tickets. Jesser announces he's coming, doesn't sell tickets. So they're like, well, we're not going to pay you that money. And then he's like, well, then I'm not going to play. That's kind of how I read it.
Starting point is 00:24:40 Do you agree with that? That seems logical. We've heard a little bit everything. be the timing was the day before he was supposed to do KSR with Shannon. Could it be he was ducking that interview? Yeah, he could be. He heard you were gone. He heard Shannon was going to
Starting point is 00:24:54 bring the heat to Jesser. That's right. He didn't want a part of this. He didn't want to smoke. The thing is, you're in Kentucky. Like, we're going to sell the tickets because of the twins, Archie, Lamb, Willie. It's not going to be Jesser. That's going to sell the tickets here.
Starting point is 00:25:09 John, it's asking anything Wednesday. John. You know, football team that's going to be moving here, what do you think their name should be, and do you think it's going to be in a Louisville area or Lexington area? All right, well, I mean, actually, just save that. I'm going to do that in the next segment. So I'll answer, let's save that. I appreciate the call.
Starting point is 00:25:28 That was going to be my next topic. Alan, go ahead, Alan. Gentlemen, if Petino had never left from Boston, A, would he still be the coach today, and B, how many titles do you think he would have won? Well, no, I appreciate the call. I don't think he would have coached anywhere for 30 years. You also have to remember there's a decent chance the Catina Pau stuff happens here.
Starting point is 00:25:50 That's actually a good question. Is if Patino stayed that whole time, would we have had the scandal? Do you think all the things that happened at Louisville? I think one of the scandals is more likely than the other scandal. I think the restaurant scandal is more likely than the end-the-doorland scandal. Yeah, I think there is a good chance. It would have been Frank and Dinos.
Starting point is 00:26:12 KS. Bar. Stop it. We don't. don't allow those things to happen at KS Bar. We make sure. First of all, they don't have secretive boosts. Yeah, those hot top chairs, that'd be...
Starting point is 00:26:23 Giuseppe's, though. Giuseppe's. With the saxophone. I could have seen Petino at Giuseppe's back in the background. Throwing the keys, lock up when you're not. It would be interesting to figure out
Starting point is 00:26:37 who would be each person in this scenario. We got to be careful. I don't know. I'd like to. It would be a good fiction novel. It really would. What if the scandal happened here? I think it would have had to have been at Giuseppi's.
Starting point is 00:26:56 It's the restaurant most like Porcini's in Lexington. Now, it's out there a little bit, but that's even better. Yeah, that's right. That's even dark out there. It's dark out there. It's yes. And then the saxophone. All the roses on the table.
Starting point is 00:27:11 That's right. The tablecloth. I like Giuseppies. It gets forgotten. It does. Lexington restaurants. Because you got, and it's hard to find parking sometimes. I was a little disappointed.
Starting point is 00:27:21 I took my parents there. I was very excited. They were familiar with the commercial. It was a birthday. Good meal. I like Giuseppies. But we set so far away, I couldn't hear the saxophone. And that was like the whole reason we're there.
Starting point is 00:27:30 Oh, the saxophone would have set the mood. It's exactly why we were there. It would definitely set the mood. I don't forget it, but I hear about it every morning. Tom Leach talks it up every morning on the Leach report. Oh, do they, they advertise? Tom Leach is so good at reading radio ads. When he's talking about Giuseppe's, I feel like I'm like sitting there eating with Tom Leach.
Starting point is 00:27:50 What Karen Seifer? Well, they wouldn't. I wish I had the skills that Tom has. Who's locking up? Who's Vinny in this story? tightly? We all think of a name. We've got to be careful.
Starting point is 00:28:04 Yeah. I have some of mine. As far as how many would he have won? Let's say he did coach all this time, which he wouldn't have. Oh, he would have won. He'd be Shishovsky like, right? Yeah. I mean, he would have had a Shishvsky career, probably four or five titles.
Starting point is 00:28:20 They were on the verge of winning like four out of the next seven or something like that. They were just incredibly rolling right there. I mean, you got to assume he could have won 98, maybe 90. But the point is, like, he had just kept it going. Yeah. You know, and like you would have been in contention most years. Sure. And you give him all those years, it's going to be like Shishvsky.
Starting point is 00:28:41 He's going to end up finding ways to win. So, yeah, I think that's true. And the more he would have been one, and the more people wanted to play here. It would have just kept going and going until the Giuseppe's night. What if he never goes to Louisville? What path do they go down? Yeah. That would be, it is a really good question.
Starting point is 00:28:57 859-28027. We will talk about the new pro sports team potentially coming to Kentucky. This is Kentucky Sports Radio. T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J. He'll make them pay. Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. Welcome back. Tuggy Sports Radio 859-2-8027. Ask Anything Wednesday, a couple open lines. Give us a shout to KSR, Somerset Golf Scramble is now on sale. I just retweeted the link. It's the last one to go on sale. Somerset, it'll be on September 8th. Always a fun one. It's probably the one where we get to interact with people the most. So September the 8th, the Somerset Golf Scramble, it's just a few days before I leave for South Africa, has just gone on sale. I just retweet it or you can go to the KSR.
Starting point is 00:29:45 the show, Twitter account. I'm sure Drew will have it up on the website later today, but get in and get that. On the questions, Ask Anything Wednesday. This is Ozzy Osbourne, by the way, obviously. Ozzy passed away. Shannon, I mean, I defer to you on all things Ozzy Osbourne. Yeah, one of the most iconic, legendary names in rock and roll history. You know, you think about all the countless hits.
Starting point is 00:30:10 So give me it. You got crazy train. Give me some of the more. No more tier. That's right. I know that. I mean, the list. I mean, I'm trying to think of like the biggest one. So many you can't name it.
Starting point is 00:30:21 Well, I'm trying to think of the ones you would know like, Mama, I'm coming home. Know that one? Flying high again. Mr. Crowley. Yes, I know that one. Paranoid. Paranoid, know that one. Okay. Iron man.
Starting point is 00:30:31 Yeah, I know that one. Yeah. So to a certain group, for me, I'm knowing more from the reality show. As crazy as that seems. You know. I definitely do. No one from yelling at Sharon. Sharon.
Starting point is 00:30:44 Sharon. that's the Ozzy I know. Yeah, which was like one of the most, I think it sort of started the whole family reality show drama that later led to like Kardashians and all that stuff. I mean, Ozzy was like the first one of them. It was the first one. Introduced him to a whole new generation of people, you know, by that reality show.
Starting point is 00:31:05 Sharrod! Yes. And it made all of them stars. It did. Like him, Sharon, got a talk show. Kelly. Yeah. What was the other one's name?
Starting point is 00:31:15 Jack. Jack. Yeah. Whatever happened to Jack? I don't know. So, I mean, a lot of, so rest in peace to Ozzy, 77? Was that right? 76, yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:24 Just did his last show two weeks ago. That's crazy. Well, rest in peace. All right. So questions on asking anything Wednesday. What person writes, Matt? I'd like to know of each of you. If you could be a singer and have one person's voice, who would you choose?
Starting point is 00:31:39 I think I would want a voice that, like, would be a. a talent with women. Like one that was like, they'd go, oh. Like Michael Bublay? He would be a corner? I think I would go John Legend. Oh, that's a great one.
Starting point is 00:31:58 John Legend. I feel like if you get his piano skills. Yeah, if you got John Legend's voice coming out of me, first of all, it would be surprising. And secondly, I think it would play well. What about you? Man, that's a great answer. Love John Legend.
Starting point is 00:32:12 Plus, I would know Vince. Didn't he? Weren't they friends? Yeah. Okay. I'm going to go a different direction. I'll go Freddie Mercury. Freddie Mercury.
Starting point is 00:32:22 Just trying to think some unique, very talented people. That would be very unique. Yeah. Freddie Mercury. Probably didn't see that one coming from me. You know what? I didn't see that one at all. And honestly, when I went to open my mouth, I wasn't sure where I was going and that came
Starting point is 00:32:32 out. So Freddie Mercury. Freddie Mercury. What about you? Obviously, I'm going with Darius Rucker. But he's not particularly great singer. Oh, I think he's the best singer. All the people you're soulful.
Starting point is 00:32:41 Yeah. Is it soulful? Oh, my goodness. Mr. Sulfle. Didn't he just refund people because he can't sing? Yeah, he's having some health problems. Prayers well, prayer up, DeDarius Rucker. Ryan's picking someone who literally just had to refund people for not being able to sing.
Starting point is 00:32:56 Okay, all right. What's your other one? Harry Connick Jr. was the first guy I thought of. Harry Connick Jr. is a good one. Because women of a certain age. Yes. Oh, they love Harry Connick Jr. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:06 Okay. What about you, Shannon? Chris Cornell. Oh, great one. Yeah. I mean, I knew you. That was going to be yours. That was going to be yours.
Starting point is 00:33:13 one person writes Matt Have you watched the Hunter Biden interview? Yes, I watch some of it. Wow. Man, good way to put it. Wow. Wow. I don't even know what to say.
Starting point is 00:33:27 Like, if I was Hunter Biden, you know, and I don't say this to be rude because like people, like drug addiction is a tough thing. And he clearly has had that problem. But like, you've caused enough trouble. You know what I mean? Like if you're, one thing I really respect about it is. dad is that he's stuck with that kid. I say kid.
Starting point is 00:33:47 He's older than I am. But like he's constant trouble. And then does a three hour insane interview where he's talking about like crack and George Clooney and like I just, I don't know why he can't just go. Why does he just want to like go off into reclusion? I didn't watch the whole thing, but I was scrolling. Yeah, I was scrolling the apps. And I just saw Hunter Biden explains the difference between crack and cocaine.
Starting point is 00:34:13 and I thought, did anyone ask? No one asked. Why is this here? I don't understand. What is the point of this? Like, there's, oh, throughout history we've talked about, there are famous people who have family members who just constantly cause them trouble. Yeah. Right. Bill Clinton's brother, Roger. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:30 Jimmy Carter's brother. What was his name? Billy. Hunter's Biden. Feels like the Obama kids and the Bush kids are pretty normal. Right. But why don't, why not just? stop, you know?
Starting point is 00:34:47 Part of it is really sad. It's very sad. But like don't keep making it sad or by continuing to, he doesn't have to do these interviews now. And he's obviously got the support around him and just whatever reason wants that moment in the spotlight, you think, that 15 seconds? I don't know. Keeps going after it.
Starting point is 00:35:06 I just, if I was Hunter Biden, I'd just go off on somewhere and just, you know, but that's me. Maybe he feels like he has things to say. All right. So the UFL, which used to be the XFL, which used to be the U.S.FL, but it is now the UFL, is getting rid of four teams and adding four teams. And the report is that Kentucky is going to have a team. Right. It could either be based in Louisville or Lexington, or have I been told maybe both. Half the games in Louisville, half the games in Lexington. Really? Do you think this can work? The season starts right as college basketball. basketball ends and goes through like early June, April, May, basically. Do you think that can work? It's only going to work if they get some Kentucky guys and Louisville guys on it.
Starting point is 00:35:57 I mean, we saw the horsemen that were here and what was the Louisville indoor football team. They loaded up with like local guys. Louisville Fire. They loaded up with like local guys so people would go watch and play. We went to watch Lafamia because it was our local guys with guys we knew. I think the UFL could work if they get the right roster. What do you think? I don't think it would work.
Starting point is 00:36:19 I would really get into it. I mean, I'm still mad about a game last night played between 30-year-olds that didn't really matter. I mean, I would get into it, but I just don't even know the NFL is really going to work. It feels like the third or fourth time in the last decade someone's tried something like this. But they haven't done it here in a long time. Yeah, I just mean the league overall. There's been two seasons, and last year they dipped in attention across the board. So I just don't think the overall thing works.
Starting point is 00:36:43 I'm going to be more optimistic about it. Why not? This is a place that loves sports. Yes. This is a place where sports drives the conversation as much as anywhere in the country. It's a time of year where you've just come off the hive basketball. You got the derby and all that stuff going on. If they market it right, why not?
Starting point is 00:37:06 I mean, can it be a smashing success? Well, no. But could it be something that people enjoy and go? The horseman gave us something to do here in this town during the summers. I think they would look at the NFL the same way. And if you do half of them in Lexington and half of them in Louisville, we'll call them the Kentucky whatever's. I mean, we had arena football, like you said here in Louisville.
Starting point is 00:37:25 It didn't work for a reason. Nobody cared. The most exciting thing that ever happened in the Louisville Fire football game was Tony Benetti choking on a hot dog. I mean, that was, you know, nobody cared. That's true, but I think Lexington is actually more apt to support it than Louis. I think people would be excited at first, but I think that. that excitement would wear off. Everybody would go to it. You know, anything that's new people love, then you've got to talk about the long-term, you know, sustainability of it. Well, I'm staying more
Starting point is 00:37:51 positive. I think it can work. I don't think it's like certain to work. They would have to do it the right way. And they would have to market it. I agree. They'd probably need to have Kentucky guys and Louisville guys that first year. Maybe get Hal Mummy or somebody to be the coach. Perfect example. Get a Halmummy to be a coach. That would be a really smart thing. Or Mark Stoops. Bob is one of the coaches. Bob's one of the head coaches in the league. He could retire and just do what Bob's doing. They could be rivals.
Starting point is 00:38:16 Well, I hope it works. I think anything that brings sports here would help somewhat. Brent, go ahead, Brent. Brent. All right, no, Brent. Okay, man, anytime you're ready. Hey, my bad, I'm working. Hey, so I got a couple things real quick.
Starting point is 00:38:35 So for a lot of new listeners like me who are younger, I think I've kind of been curious if you guys would ever want to do like a offseason episode, like a YouTube video where you went over like the KSR history, like when everybody joined or kind of things like that to kind of just get up to speed on everyone's favorite radio show and that kind of stuff. It's a great idea. We ought to do it. The question would just be how we would do it.
Starting point is 00:39:00 But, you know, we add new people every year. So I think it's a good idea. And that'd be the kind of thing we could keep for a long time. So we may try to do that, Brent. All right. Sweet. Yeah, I think it'd be cool like a video essay or ESL. But also I have a, I have another.
Starting point is 00:39:15 the thing real quick. Go for it. So maybe I'm stupid, but I kind of feel like if you're, if you're spending like almost more than almost every other player, like team in basketball, wouldn't there be like an asterisk or something next to a title being like, oh, yeah, they only won because they got like, who spent the most money? Who spent the most money last year in the NBA? I don't know that. Exactly. Like, we don't know. At the end of the day, you just look at who Do you know who spent the most money in baseball in 2012? Probably the Yankees. No, probably, but maybe not.
Starting point is 00:39:54 You don't know? I just feel like it's different with the revenue split because with NBA, yeah, you're spending it all on basketball because it's the basketball league. If you're saying, you have $20 million in a different way. Who spent the most money? Who spent the most money on college basketball last year? I don't know. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:40:13 I don't think people, I just don't think people know. And I appreciate the call. I think like, yeah. At the end of the day, this has been my opinion about NIL from the beginning. When the game starts, we don't talk about, right? Mm-hmm. Nobody follows it. What college basketball coach makes the most money?
Starting point is 00:40:34 Anybody know? Cal's up there. I mean... Cal's been passed. I guess that would be... It's been passed. And it's not John Shire. You know, who would that be?
Starting point is 00:40:43 So I don't know. I actually don't know the answer. Maybe Danny Hurley, maybe it's Bill Self. I'm not sure. Yeah. But my point is, like, it is... It is off-season talk, but I think once the game start, people just forget about that stuff. The answer to who paid the most money last year for a team was Kansas State.
Starting point is 00:40:58 That's right. What did they do? That's the big thing. You can't just attach a number to these guys because so many of them are overvalued and they don't pan out. Like we saw Kansas State, Indiana, the team that spent the most did nothing last year. So I'm not. I do think that it sets expectations, but to me once the game start, the games are the games. and so I actually don't think it would make it an asterisk or anything like that.
Starting point is 00:41:23 Hey, bourbon lovers. What? I said hi. Oh, is this for you? No, you said, hey bourbon lovers. Okay, hey bourbon lovers. Commonwealth causes back with their July bourbon raffle, $20,000 worth of a bourbon collection. They do this.
Starting point is 00:41:37 How do they do this? I don't know. It's amazing. They're able to get all this. Once again, a six bottle, Pappy Van Winkle set, but also a Weller six bottle set, a Blanton eight bottle set. club blue hiccup set, four bottle set, and more. One person writes, Matt, what is the best TV show theme song that was much better than the show?
Starting point is 00:46:43 Simon and Simon. Oh, that's a good one. Find the Simon and Simon theme, Shannon. Okay. It's got like, I don't even remember the show. It was like two brothers, right? And they did stuff with each other. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:55 I don't know what they did. I never heard of it before. You never heard of Simon and Simon? No. I just remember it has like the beat of the song. You know, they don't do TV theme songs as much anymore, but Successions is really good. Successions. White Lotus is really good.
Starting point is 00:47:11 Sopranos. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Listen to that, Shannon. That's like a good, you could, I could see Alice Bluegay on playing this. Yeah. I would throw in, uh, bear near, nearn.
Starting point is 00:47:27 How about Magnum P.I? Oh, Magnum P.I. is a really good one. Yeah. But Magnum P. has to show people know. Most people don't even know Simon and Simon. Simon's got that major dad actor in it.
Starting point is 00:47:37 It does. Good call. It's a good call. Uh, most famous TV theme songs, probably what, Andy Griffith. Uh, friends. Friends. Friends. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:47 Um, Jefferson's. Yeah. As someone in the middle of a Sopranos rewatch, that still hits me every time. Spranos is a good, really good one. I still watch it through. But like, I think the ones that have words, though, makes it to where people remember them more. Although I guess Andy Griffiths just whistling. That's what I was going to say.
Starting point is 00:48:02 The older show has always had words to it. The newer theme song just. Brady Bunch? Brady Bunch? That's the way we all became the Brady Bunch. Friends? Sanford and Son. Yeah, I mentioned that.
Starting point is 00:48:11 Okay. They don't listen to me. They don't listen to me. I literally said Friends and Sanford and Son. And then the next two answers by them are friends and Sanford. Just trying to run through shows in my brain. One person goes, Matt Windes-K-S-Barr, open. We do now have a date, August 26th.
Starting point is 00:48:28 So we will open the Tuesday before the first game of the year. Nice. August 26th is our reopening date. So we'll do the show there from there that week. So August 26. Bobby, go ahead, Bobby. Hey, Matt, first time caller. Who are?
Starting point is 00:48:46 I got a statement and a question. Go for it. All right, so y'all were talking about I was working the other day, so I wasn't able to call in. But y'all were talking about changing the name from La Familia. How about dim bluegrass boys? I'm good with it. I appreciate the call. I like that.
Starting point is 00:49:05 I've gotten some bad names and the people riding in. Including that one. What's wrong with that one? D. D. Bluegrass boys? Yeah, like D.E.M. I get it.
Starting point is 00:49:15 You don't have to tell me the joke. It's like them. It's like them. But it's cooler. Yeah, it's dim. I didn't get it until you explained it to there. And I bet the boys has a Z.
Starting point is 00:49:24 7S. Boys has a Z. That's the kind of team Jesser would have played for. Yeah. He would have made his schedule work for dim bluegrass boys. Jerry, go ahead, Jerry. If you're going to complain, I'm going to hang up. I'm not complaining.
Starting point is 00:49:37 Okay. What I was going to say is you talk about the complaint. This is complaining. I knew it was complaining. I said, don't complain. I'm not to complain. No, no, no. I was thinking, I was, to have a discussion.
Starting point is 00:49:54 Remember Stoops first got here that you and I were round around about whether or not he was going to be successful or not. And I said he was because of a lot of things they were doing. Yeah. And conversely, not about to complain. I'm about to complain. I'm about to say that it seemed like something changed about the time of the poniette. I appreciate the call. I mean, that's complaining.
Starting point is 00:50:18 And it's also not a question on Ask Anything Wednesday that's complaining about Mark Stoops. And listen, there's plenty of time for that. But this is Ask Anything Wednesday. I think we all knew the complaint was coming. You could fill the complaint around the corner. You could feel it bubbling up. Jordan, go ahead, Jordan. Two quick things.
Starting point is 00:50:42 First, what happened with Ashton Hagen's at the end of the 2020 season? And second, would you ever consider moving the show? to 11 to 1. It just seems like a lot of official news breaks at noon. It'd be cool to get a lot of action. Well, it's first start. On the second one, I would rather do the show from 11 to 1
Starting point is 00:51:04 so that people could come on their lunch breaks. The problem is, and I appreciate to call, Clear Channel, now IHeart. They had Rush Limbaugh there for years, and now they have Clay and Buck, and that is a show that cannot be moved. That's the only show
Starting point is 00:51:20 on IHeart that you have to take as an IHeart station. Used to be Rush Limbaugh, now it's Clay and Buck. So like on WLP, they have to air Clay and Buck from, it's required by the national company. And so we can't be on. I'm sure they'd love to have it. I think they have always wanted me to do 10 to 1, but they cannot move Clay and Buck because those are sacred clay and buck cows.
Starting point is 00:51:42 And so we have to be 10 to 12 or we have to start at 3. So I would rather do 10. How would you describe what happened with Ash today? playing it back in my head.
