Starting point is 00:00:00 Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter.
Starting point is 00:00:23 Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends on the I-Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where SportsSlice comes in. I'm Timbo, and every episode we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the biggest moments in sports and giving you the real story behind the headlines. And we're going straight to the source, the athletes themselves, their locker room stories,
Starting point is 00:00:52 their reactions in the moment, and the stuff nobody gets to hear. Listen to Sports Slice on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more, follow Timbo Slica Life 12 in the TikTok podcast network on TikTok. Life is full of hurdles. So how do you keep going? On Hurtle with Emily Abadi, we're talking with the most inspiring women in sports and wellness from professional athletes, coaches, and Olympic champions, about the challenges that shape them and the mindset that keeps them moving forward. How many men carry a suit or armor? It signals to the world that you not have to be played with.
Starting point is 00:01:57 And just because you have the capability that does not have. mean that you need to. Welcome to Hour 2 of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones. Welcome back. Hour number two, Kentucky Sports Radio, 859-2802287. We're going to go back to phones here in just a second. Some questions from the text machine.
Starting point is 00:03:21 First of all, I was wrong. Duke lost to Houston, not Florida. Last year. Yeah, I was gone. Yeah, I was gone. So I remember I knew they lost, but didn't get to watch the game. One person writes, Matt, when is the pardon my take takeover on KSR? We may do it a little differently this year.
Starting point is 00:03:37 I may, I'm thinking about going up to Chicago and doing the show with them. That's cool. Yeah. So we've never done it. I've actually never done a show with them. So I may like the three of us go into a show. I'm trying to figure out, you know, my mom is in school in Chicago. So I'm trying to figure out when she'll be there that I could work.
Starting point is 00:03:57 in a trip with my mom slash, pardon my take show. That'd be a good idea to do something like that. Yeah. That show's always, you love them or you hate them. It's always one of the most listened to shows all summer. Yeah. But listen, they're one of, Time Magazine put out the 100 best podcasts of all time, or 100 most important, and didn't put them on the list, which I thought was, I thought that
Starting point is 00:04:19 was ridiculous. Because in terms of sports podcast, they're number two. probably next to Bill Simmons. I mean, they're actually bigger now, but Bill Simmons has a long history. But I would say, if you're to say to me, what are the most important sports podcasts, it would be Bill Simmons and them? And then maybe what, like the Kelsey Brothers or something? But like...
Starting point is 00:04:42 And they haven't even been doing it very long. They haven't even been doing that one. I mean, like, they should have been on the list. I mean, KSR was not on the list, Shannon, which was weird. Now, oddly, the KSR pre-show is on the list, but not the KSR. Is that true? Yeah, I don't know. I don't know how that happened.
Starting point is 00:04:55 Speaking of that, what happened? You can go ahead and get those. But what happened with Billy? Oh, man. So I didn't hear. I like to start with the good. I had a great night with Billy. Went to the country boy opening with the pickleball.
Starting point is 00:05:05 So they have a pickleball place. Yeah. We didn't pickleball. We did golf simulators. He and I had a few beers and hit balls into a pebble beach, a little par three there. But then we go our separate ways. Everyone leaves. And then Billy comes back and he's like, hey, I need you.
Starting point is 00:05:21 And I said, okay, what's up? And I'll look outside. And Billy has somehow, there's a gravel parking lot. and there's like this mountain of gravel it's probably two, three feet tall. I don't know how I didn't see it, but he has managed to get his two-door vehicle on top of this gravel mountain.
Starting point is 00:05:37 So it's like a peak, it's like a little gravel mountain with a peak. Yeah, it's almost like someone hanging on the top of it. Yes. And I... How did he get up there? I don't even know. It's really amazing.
Starting point is 00:05:48 I have a photo. I should have taken it from a different angle to really capture it. But I'm like, all right, we'll be fine. I go in. Luckily, we're at Country Boy. No shortage of guys with muscles around. I get six bearded dudes.
Starting point is 00:06:00 About average, I'd say we're in the high 200s. You know, we got some muscle. We get out there and about four in the group whisper to me, he needs, we can't do this. The bumper will come off. Someone mentioned some oil piece. He's like, this is going to rip off. Like, he needs a professional.
Starting point is 00:06:16 But at that point, we made a group decision to do it anyway. So this is like, if I were to picture, you're telling me, like think of a mountain, like a stereotypical mountain with a top. And he's just hanging on the top. We're in this big gravel lot. Like if someone intentionally just piled up a bunch of gravel in a little spot. But how did he get up?
Starting point is 00:06:30 I have no idea how I didn't see it. Oh. Can you see that? Yeah. How did he get up there? He said the sun. Yeah, he said the sun was in his eyes.
Starting point is 00:06:39 The son was in his eyes. The son was in his eyes. But we got him out of them. Like a little league baseball player. The son was a must coach. So how did he get him out? Yeah. One big push with all that muscle and the sound was a little uncomfortable.
Starting point is 00:06:53 But I think everything was. was still intact. He slid backwards and then just kind of drove around it. Well, good for him. That was the end. But it was a good country boy opening except for Billy parking on top of a travel place today. Right? So you can play pickleball golf simulator. You said it was a really cool place. Lots of pickleballing. I'm not like you where I'm anti, but I'm a little intimidated. Like I'm in there having fun. It's a grand opening. Got me some pretzels and a beer. But there were some people treating this like it was Wimbledon. Well, D.H was like, hey, I'd love for you to come to the opening. He's like, but if you're going to come, like, you know, don't trash the pickleball.
Starting point is 00:07:28 And I said, love you, DH. I'll be there one day, but I cannot promise not to trash pickleball. People were into it. But people are into it. And the simulators are awesome. That's what I mean. I'll play the golf simulator. I think that's a lot of fun. Top of the lines technology. Speaking of restaurants coming back, KSbar the 26th of August, are you all, you got your, you got your stuff going. We were in there yesterday. The wing thing is next week. Next Thursday is our. wing test for those of you that have tickets. I may give a couple seats away there as well at the remote tomorrow, but we sold them out
Starting point is 00:08:02 in like five minutes. So they're doing it. And then just so people know, we're doing an opening for listeners where we do like a, you can pay and you'll get to try a bunch of our food. It's like a friends and family thing, but like we'll just bring you food. And it'll be, I don't know what it'll be, but we'll put tickets. on sale, but it'll be Thursday the 21st. And I'm doing it. We're doing a friends and family for people we know, but we're doing one just for listeners. Yeah. So be listening for that. I don't know when it's
Starting point is 00:08:35 going to go on sale, but it be August 21st. And that will you all will be literally the first people to see it. We redid the floor. Yeah, it looks really good. We've seen that. You saw it. Yeah. It looks really good. It looks really cool. We redid the floor, redoing the front. For you all that wrote about murals, I'm going to be writing you this weekend. So just so you know. We're going to have. We're going to have, if you've been to the bar before, when you walked in, you know where the host stand was, Shannon. Yeah. We're painting a mural.
Starting point is 00:09:00 We moved the host stand inside and we're painting a mural on that brick on the outside. That'll be cool. So think of where the host stand was. There was a brick wall behind it. Yeah. It's going to be like a UK mural of like former UK player, or whatever, whoever we pick designs. And then we're going to put the players on those posts outside.
Starting point is 00:09:20 So somebody asked me, are they actually going to be painting on the brick or are they one. If you can, I don't know science. I've seen people paint on bricks before. It feels like you can paint on bricks. Yeah, they have like a big brick wall downtown here in Louisville where there's just like a whole mural. Can you paint on bricks? Yes. If you can. Driven around Lexington, there's a mural about on every building. This is our plan. Don't ruin our plan. No, those people are asking me questions. I think they want to submit an entry, but they're like the one though, am I painting actually on the brick? If you're a true artist, you know you can paint on brick. Yeah, that's not a question. You can paint on anything. I've seen people paint on human beings.
Starting point is 00:09:53 I saw Dennis Rodman do that Yeah, so I think So yeah But anyway, August 21st will be When that is Did you see? Shannon, I have to say I haven't watched the video yet But you know I like people that kind of fight the power
Starting point is 00:10:09 Yeah right I'm a power fighter Disruptor I also like when people are clever Did you see what the South Park creators did I've seen a little previous this The South Park creators Shannon Needed like
Starting point is 00:10:22 needed to sign a renewal with Paramount for South Park to be on the streaming service. Yesterday afternoon, they finalized their renewal, $1.5 billion. Wow. For every South Park episode to be on Paramount and for them to continue making them. Now, I haven't watched South Park in years. I didn't even know they were still making them. But still, $1.5 billion, a lot of money. Sure is.
Starting point is 00:10:45 Right? A lot of money. That's a lot. They wait until they sign it. And then that night put out a cartoon making fun of Paramount. Paranaut. Enverccerating Paramount. They wait, Shannon, until the deal is signed.
Starting point is 00:11:00 That's right. And then the moment it signed, they put out a cartoon that clearly they had already done. Sure. Making fun of Paramount for, like, bowing down to Trump. But they waited until they signed the deal. Shannon, I kind of think that's awesome. Like, that is a middle finger in the face to your bosses, but you wait until you sign the contract. There's a big part of me that goes,
Starting point is 00:11:21 I can't, you got to salute that. What are they going to do about it now? You've already got the deal. The deal is in place. They can't back out of two days. Exactly. They either just have to eat it. Yep. Or they have to pay them $1.5 billion. I think that's good. Because in the contract, it says you can have no control over our content. So they'll either have to fire them and give them $1.5 billion.
Starting point is 00:11:43 Yeah. Or they just have to eat it, which is probably what they'll do. They don't have to eat it. This is more attention to it as well. You know? Yes, exactly. like that. Yeah, the episode is Trump suing the town of South Park. Kind of like just mocking what they just went through.
Starting point is 00:11:55 So I have to say, as somebody who loves it when people find a way to kind of needle at their bosses, that's one of the best ones I've ever seen. Wait till you sign the contract and then crush them right after it. I guess the next contract negotiation won't go as well. Well, $1.5 billion. I think they can go home at the end of that. You know what? You can have it.
Starting point is 00:12:17 Michael, go ahead, Michael. go ahead michael want to call and talk a little bit aged yeah just want to talk a little gilded age okay go for it michael yeah how far into it are you i don't want to spoil i'm only like five episodes in so i do yeah don't spoil it i still want to learn with the ladies as it happens so i'll just say big things are coming for bertha and her power moves you got to watch what peggy's going to do with her love triangle and marian comes into her own Who says comes into her own? Marion, the Merrill Street daughter.
Starting point is 00:12:56 Okay, well, I wouldn't talk about anybody specifically. Does her acting improve? Well, her storyline gets better, so that helps. Okay, good. All right, good. Bertha, I'm kind of attracted to Bertha. Not going to lie to you, Michael. I think Bertha's kind of hot.
Starting point is 00:13:13 I'm never being attracted to Bertha. I agree with you. I think she's wrongly named Bertha. Because it's it, but Michael, am I wrong? Bertha's kind of hot. No, she's got it going on, and she's good in White Lotus, too. Yes, she is. It's Carrie Coons is the actress.
Starting point is 00:13:30 Oh, she's great. Yes. No, Bertha looks hot, like she has great dresses, too. Yeah, and then I got my son LaRue here with one summer thing for you guys. I'll put them on. Go ahead, LaRue. Lou's a great name. That's Larry's middle name.
Starting point is 00:13:43 Lou Roo? I never knew that. Just like the county. Go ahead, Laru. So you guys know Joey Chestnut and Yusain Bolt, right? I do. I think I know your question, but go ahead. So who do you guys think would win if you have to eat a whole entire hot dog and then run a 100 meter dash? Who do you think would win between the both of them?
Starting point is 00:14:08 So the question is, both Joey Chestnut and Usain Bolt have to eat a hot dog and then run 100 meters. Who wins first? Correct. All right. I appreciate the call. That's a great question because Jimmy Chitwood is going to... It's not Jimmy Chitwood. It's Joey Chesnut. He's going to devour that dog in like a second.
Starting point is 00:14:28 And then he can finish it in like the hundred in like 13, 14 seconds. Usain may take, he can run it in like nine, but it may take him three or four seconds to eat it. I mean, I would think Joey Chestnut wins, right? Yeah. I think he, with the hot dog eating, he gets himself probably five to seven second head start on the race. And then he gets it done. What do you think, Shannon? I think Bolt still wins.
Starting point is 00:14:47 Because we don't know how fast he can eat a hot dog. Maybe he can eat one quickly. Oh, you think he could maybe eat one quickly? a hot dog faster than we think. Maybe, maybe so. Yeah, we're just talking one. Now, if we're talking five, I would say Joey Chestnut, but one. Yeah. So you're taking Bolt. Yep. I think he's still trying to. I'm taking Chestnut. Mario? Mario, Bolt. There you go. Mario picks Bronny. Oddly. He thinks he could somehow win, which would be an amazing combination. Eric, go ahead, Eric. Matt, I'm trying to, uh, I want to contribute to making the new KSbar launch better than ever.
Starting point is 00:15:21 and I'm sorry you cut me off back in the last segment, but if it's Tim, by the way, not can it? You can't call twice? No, but I'll make, hey, I'll make it up to you, I promise. Just hear me out for a few seconds here. If it's Tim, by the way, not Ken. So if Tim from Long John Silver's calls me, I'm going to give you a free multifunction printer
Starting point is 00:15:44 to outfit your new office. So if Monique needs to print something, copy scan, it's just going to make it so much better. Your sales are going to go up 25%. I hope he calls you. Kenny Parmack has nothing on me. I appreciate the call. I hope he calls you.
Starting point is 00:15:58 I hope you get your long John's account. If you want to give me a printer, you can. But this is not, I cannot be a facilitator for people to have their business conversations. This is what happened when you signed up for LinkedIn. This is the problem with what happened with signed up with LinkedIn. I hope Tim calls in every day. Let me ask you a question. I wasn't going to do this, but now that we've gone down this path.
Starting point is 00:16:18 Yeah. There's a part of me, know someone who... Okay, back to the 859-28-02287. Shady Ray's just gave us some of their new sunglasses. You can get Shady Ray's as well. KSR. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending.

Starting point is 00:18:23 I'm talking, Tripp Fontaine, Ryan Clark. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing. And we're still chasing it. And we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross,
Starting point is 00:18:44 because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth. Are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person. Join me, Kear Gaines, is we have real conversations about healing, growth, fatherhood,
Starting point is 00:19:01 pressure, and purpose on my new podcast. Learn the Hardway. Open your free iHeartRadio app. Search Learn the hard way and listen now. Jacob Kingston grew up in an isolated polygamous sect. We were God's chosen kingdom on earth. He felt destined for greatness. So when a swaggering Armenian businessman catapults Jacob into an extraordinary world, he doesn't look back. Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, meeting the president of Turkey. I'm Michelle McPhee, and this is one of the... the most shocking criminal conspiracies I've ever come across. When Jacob met Levan this went to a billion dollar fraud.
Starting point is 00:19:42 But with two kings from entirely different worlds, just how long can their empire survive? The largest tax investigation in American history. You need to tell me what you know. Is somebody coming after me? Jacob told Levan, you're ruining my life. Listen to Kingdom of Fraud on the IHeart Radio app. Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:20:10 Life throws hurdles big and small. The question is, how do you conquer them? On hurdle with Emily Abadi, we sit down with the most inspiring women in sports and wellness, professional athletes, coaches, and Olympic champions to talk about the challenges that shaped them and the mindset that keeps them going. From the WNBA standout Kate Martin and rising hockey star Layla Edwards. If a boy can do it, I don't see why a girl can't. Like, I've never understood that.
Starting point is 00:20:34 Like, it didn't make sense in my brain. It's hard to be in spaces that no one looks like you, but don't ever feel like you don't belong. Don't let that be the reason you don't do it. An Olympic champs Gabby Thomas and Katie Ladeke. The ability to show a gold medal to someone and have their face light up and smile, that means the world to me. And that's what motivates me to win more gold medals. At our level, at this scale, like being able to fail in front of the entire world.
Starting point is 00:21:00 Like, I can do anything. I can do anything. because resilience isn't just about winning. It's about showing up even when it's hard. Listen to Hurtle with Emily Abadi on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports. One person writes, Matt, how would you feel if what the South Park people did to to Paramount, Ryan, Drew, and Shannon did to you.
Starting point is 00:22:37 Well, I would be upset, but they wouldn't, but I'm a person. I'm not a multi, multinational corporations do not have feelings like a person does. Like we, I, no, I do not feel sorry for multinational billion dollar corporations. I feel sorry for people sometimes, but that's not the same thing. So yeah, if they did it to me, I'd be, I'd be hurt. But if they did it to, you know, an. LLC that I was like a 1% shareholder. Let them do what they want, Shannon, at that point.
Starting point is 00:23:09 I think if you can, you just lean into it, embrace it. And like I said earlier, you're driving more attention to South Park being on it. I didn't even know about it until you just mentioned it. I didn't even know South Park was still on. I did the tweet yesterday about the McDonald's. You know, we talked about this the other day on the show. But I did the tweet about Lexington McDonald's. And, you know, I'm not trying to start problems.
Starting point is 00:23:33 But the quality of a lot of Lexington McDonald's has fallen off a cliff and I'm upset about it. I am shamed. Those Diet Coke's aren't what they used to be. These Diet Coke, I only do breakfast and Diet Coke, but I'm sure it applies to the regular food too. It is falling off a cliff. And the problem is whatever Mick Tribe is. Because Mick Tribe takes over these restaurants and next thing you know it falls apart. all right. I'm frustrated. I love the Lees Town Road McDonald's.
Starting point is 00:24:08 Falling off a cliff. Yes, it has. You go to the Nicholsville Road McDonald's. You used to go to that one all the time when our studio was there. Falling off a cliff. The only, the ones that are good still, Herodsburg Rope, not McTrib. Newtown Pike, not McTrib. I hear Palomar's good. I haven't been out there, but that's not McTripe. But the McTride, I don't know who you are, McTribb. but we got to get our stuff together. So I did a tweet ranking them. Universal agreement.
Starting point is 00:24:39 So today I go to the Herodzburg Road McDonald's. Pull up. Get my Diet Coke. Get my little breakfast muffin. The owner is working. Comes to the window and thanks me. And I said, I got to look him in the eye. And I said, you do a good job, sir.
Starting point is 00:24:56 This place is efficient. Nice. The Diet Coke is delicious. the muffins are glorious and I got to thank him and he got to thank me and that was a special moment for me but Mick Tribe
Starting point is 00:25:08 you are McRuining these restaurants and I need you to fix them that's all I have to say about that do you think the ones that you've approved? I don't even know what McTrive is this is not personal
Starting point is 00:25:19 okay but I don't think it's a Native American group this is just a group of people who are ruining our McDonald's the ones that have your stamp of approval think you could get them like plaques, like when someone wins the Lexington Leader Award, you see a sticker
Starting point is 00:25:34 on the door. I'll tell you a website. I'm not going to do it. I don't have time, but somebody should drive around the state and rank and give McDonald's star ratings. Like Michelin stars. Yes. Because some are different. Midway McDonald's, good. Yes. Right? Yes, it is. That's my favorite one. Midway McDonald's, solid. Yep. Get you in it
Starting point is 00:25:52 out pretty quick. I've heard of other McDonald's and state good, some bad. I've heard the one in Richmond needs help. I think it's also a McTrib one. Oh. I don't know what Mc Tribe is, but every time I go to one and I'm like, what's going on? I see the sign proud to be operated by Mick Pride. Stop being so proud and fix them. I haven't seen you this worked off about anything like this in a long time.
Starting point is 00:26:15 Do the signs have a little number you can call for? They do, but I'm not calling. This is my call. Okay. They're asking Shannon for comments. Yeah. This is my public comment. I'm not calling.
Starting point is 00:26:28 I'm just saying. You still have the little survey at the bottom of the receipt. you are ruining these fine establishments. The Leastown Road McDonald's was once an exemplary place. Now I avoid it. And every time I go, no one's there. You know why? Because of McTribb.
Starting point is 00:26:44 Fix it. Let's go to Noah. Go ahead, Noah. Hey, guys, I got a statement and a question for you both. All right. So tomorrow, first time I'm going to be able to see you guys at Kentucky Customs is not fitting, really excited for it. And for the question,
Starting point is 00:27:02 for you all. Yes. So obviously you were talking earlier about for La Familia. It'd be awesome for next year. We can get someone from like John Wall and Boogie coming in and make a huge rock star sensation for it all. I want to know what you guys would put for your full starting lineup, like your dream team starting lineup for La Familia and like maybe two or three reserves. You put on that. Love it. Okay. So if we're doing La Familia, I appreciate the call. So I'm going to take guys, I can't put someone in the NBA now because because you, because you, you. Law of Familia requires you to not be in the NBA. So if I'm doing my dream, this is who I would like to see play at Law of Familia that realistically could play. John Wall, Brandon Knight's my back court. I don't know what Brandon Knight's doing now. I don't know if he's still playing basketball, but he's got to be good.
Starting point is 00:27:50 Give me a year. He'll get in shape. He's a hard work. You got a year, Brandon. John Wall Brandon Knight back court, boogie sitter. Okay. Get those three. I like to have an Archie this year.
Starting point is 00:28:02 Archie Archie can be on the team. Power forward. I have the answer. Who? I wanted him this year. Alex Poitris. Okay. He's still dumb.
Starting point is 00:28:12 I don't know if he's in Germany. I don't know what league he's in, but he is still playing at a high level. Alex Poitris. And there wouldn't be any other Alec Poitrhus athleticism around the tournament either. Derek Willis. Yeah. Derek Willis is playing great.
Starting point is 00:28:25 Like every time I see Derek Willis is the all star in like Turkey or Uzbekistan or wherever he is, but he's playing well. He's the other. He and Alex were in Lexington last week, and I'm thinking, just throw on a uniform and get out there. Derek Willis and Alex Poitris, I think, give you the guys who are still balling. I love Archie. I'm good with the twins. I think they add a lot.
Starting point is 00:28:46 Khalil Whitney was fun. Yes, he was. But you add that and make it the group. One more. Would you want Willie? I want Willie. I need Willie to, like, buy a basketball. Stan Braden Knight can work out together.
Starting point is 00:28:58 Didn't he say he doesn't have a basketball anymore. He didn't even own one. get a basketball again, but go ahead. My other one I went with Poitreth's real bad as Isaiah Briscoe because he dominates the big three. That's why he wasn't on it last year. He chose the big three over Lafamilia, but he can still play. Love it.
Starting point is 00:29:15 I'd heard rumors before this season that Terrence Jones was a possibility. Is he still good? I have not seen anything of him in many years, but if he still can do it, yeah, of course. I'm for all this. These are all good. Oh, I didn't realize. I got to take a break. 859-2-80-2287.
Starting point is 00:29:29 772, 775254 is KSR. T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J. He'll make them pay. Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. Welcome back, Kentucky Sports Radio. 859-2-80-2287. Text machine, 772-7-45254.
Starting point is 00:29:49 One person writes, Matt, I love you, but your entire McDonald's rant sounded like something Donald Trump would say. Well, he's not always wrong. Might be wrong a lot. but if that's something he would say, I'd back him on that. As much as I don't like to admit it, while our politics are very opposed, we do have some similar interest. McDonald's is one of them.
Starting point is 00:30:09 McDonald's. He served McDonald's at the White House. Not putting five foot putts. Stretching the USGA rules. You all have that in common. Your own interpretation. Own interpretation. I agree with him about paper straws.
Starting point is 00:30:23 Kind of turn it into him. Your bonding bridge is here. So, you know, those are good. One person writes, Matt, I listened to your podcast with Tommy Vitor and interrupted last night. I loved it. You need to have him on again. Yeah, he's, I think that's a really good one if you get a chance. Just did it last night.
Starting point is 00:30:39 We're going to have Matt Norlander, CBS basketball tomorrow. That's good. Good time to get in. So you're to college basketball and tomorrow. This is one kind of about, it's a political one, but I promise you, even if you're not on my side, you would enjoy it. Because we're basically ragging on my side what they do wrong. So you will still like it. I knew it was an important guest because I was here in the building and I left my backpack
Starting point is 00:31:00 in this room and Billy was like, oh no, you cannot go in there. Billy was very nervous. Yeah. I was like, okay. Can you get my backpack? He worked for, he worked in the Obama White House. He talks about like what's it like to work in the White House. Just is it like on a day-to-day basis.
Starting point is 00:31:14 Did you ask him about why it's old and dated in there and if they're going to fix the air conditioning? I didn't say to him. That's another thing I kind of agree on with Trump. I don't know if I like all the gold he puts in, but the building does. does kind of stink. It's a little gaudy now. It's a little over the top. It's a little, it's a little, but like the idea of, like, go to a foreign country and go
Starting point is 00:31:32 to where their presidents live. They are majestic. Like I was in the one in the Netherlands recently, majestic. The White House kind of stinks on the inside. Don't you agree? I could not believe when they were walking around in there. It's like, oh, crickety, crackety little hallways, little rooms. It kind of stinks.
Starting point is 00:31:53 And I, you know, the capitals are made. Yeah. Right? The Supreme Court is amazing if you've ever been. But in the bellies of the White House. But I kind of feel like the White House kind of stinks. I mean, I would be for this is the United States. You know, you can go, I went to Italy to where their parliament is, majestic.
Starting point is 00:32:15 Like, I kind of feel like we should make the, because he's right about that. The White House is just, yeah. And it's old. You know how you go to a hotel. Shannon and it's old and you just kind of feels old. Yep, yep. That's kind of how. It's musty.
Starting point is 00:32:31 It smells like, you know. The carpet looks like it's been there for 50 years. It smells like Grover Cleveland's sweated all over it. Nobody's cleaned it. It's the history though. That's the history you get when you walk in there. Yeah, I know. You think that press room is some glorious grand place.
Starting point is 00:32:45 It's a shoe box. And it's like the size of a, yeah, of a closet. Yeah. That was my biggest takeaway. Room you see on TV. You think that room that you do the press company, you think it's huge. Tiny. It's tiny.
Starting point is 00:32:56 Which makes it even more uncomfortable when Ryan's doing as much McConnell impersonation. It really is. Patriot Papal, go ahead. Hey, guys. Just a couple of things, Matt, I wanted to encourage you to not be ashamed of your gilded age interest. Okay. You know, many people such as myself are interested in similar shows.
Starting point is 00:33:17 My beautiful young wife and I watch Love Island together. I didn't think I'd like that show at all, almost ashamed to admit it at one time. But now, I can't get a number. enough. I propose that we have a crossover reality show with the Gilded Age concept and the Love Island concept, where they compete as couples to climb a proverbial social ladder in the setting of the Gilded Age. Wouldn't be bad. I appreciate it. I mean, the climbing up and down, old money versus new money, I appreciate the call. That's really good. You know, I think we've talked about this.
Starting point is 00:33:53 you know, I was cast on a reality show once and almost did it and then got a new job and decided I couldn't. Well, I can't remember the details. I remember me talking about it one time. It was going to be a legal version of the apprentice. That's right. So Donald Trump's apprentice had come out and they were going to do a legal version with Johnny Cochran. No, I'm serious. How awesome would that have been?
Starting point is 00:34:17 And it was going to be called the partner and you would go. So when I was on the D.C. Circuit, they came. and they had the tryouts and a guy that I clerked with had been asked to come because he kind of had a unique background and he asked me to go with him. And I went and they liked me and I got asked back and then they basically invited me to be on the show and then I got another job clerking on the Fourth Circuit and I couldn't do both and I just couldn't turn it down to go be on a reality show. And then the reality show, I think they taped it but it never aired because I think he
Starting point is 00:34:52 died or he either died or something happened. They never aired the show. They did film it, but they never aired it. And it was called the partner and it was just going to be the apprentice but law with Johnny Cochran. It would have been awesome if you were able to... And then, of course, they asked me to be on the married at first site in Nashville, but I never considered that one. Different, different one. Yeah, I can, I never considered it. I got far in a reality show thing. I've completely forgot about it. I was just popped to my head. I don't even want to say this on the air. I don't think. But there was a lot. You don't want to say it on the air.
Starting point is 00:35:25 I just had this memory. The show was I want to work for Diddy. That was the name of the show. Why did I do that? In hindsight, that would have been a horrible work. You were going to be on. There was a show called, no, I wasn't going to be on it. But I think I, I think there was like an email.
Starting point is 00:35:41 Like, would you apply? And I might have applied. That would have been bad. Did you want to work for Diddy? No. Go pick up the baby oil. I completely forgot about this for probably 15 years. And you talked about that.
Starting point is 00:35:51 It popped in my head. And I'd even make sure that was the name of the show and that was it. Wow. You know, there's very few things I don't know about you. I did not know about your diddy love. Oh, easy, easy, easy. Back then, though, it probably is an exciting opportunity. I have breaking news not to get off subject, but it's a big deal.
Starting point is 00:36:09 All right, breaking news, Shannon. It's not positive. I don't know what he's going to say. I got to make sure this is a real account. Team C is reporting. Hang on. Make sure is it really teams? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:20 Okay. says wrestling legend Hulk Hogan has died Oh no Well you know they said They've been saying for a couple weeks That he was like on his last legs Yeah that just popped up on my Twitter
Starting point is 00:36:31 Some of our icons Yeah it's everywhere So Hulk Hogan is dead Wow Wow Wow Flair, the Rock, and Austin in some order. But if you're just talking about, the rock became bigger after wrestling. But if you're just talking about the person that was the biggest while they were
Starting point is 00:37:01 wrestling in history, it is probably Shannon Holcock. Yeah, I don't think there's anybody bigger. I mean, throughout the 80s and 90s, he was more than just a wrestler. I mean, he was like a pop culture icon. Like, everybody knew Hulk Hogan, even if you weren't a wrestling fan. And even today, like, you know, all these years later, people still know who Hulk Hogan is. That's really sad, man. That is sad. He was 71 years old. Yep.
Starting point is 00:37:25 Yep. Yeah, you are a list of the great ones. He's number one and I think there's a gap between him and number two. He like is wrestling. The thing you have to remember about Hulk Hogan, he was in a Rocky movie. Yes, he was. Right? People forget about that.
Starting point is 00:37:40 He was the person, I mean, he was the person that probably made it to where the average person learned about wrestling by learning about Hulk Hocke. See, that's me. Right? Like that, I mean, you probably, he was on the Tonight Show. And he would do things that would sort of bring it into the mainstream world. And if you know the history of wrestling, wrestling went from like regional promotions to a national show essentially on the back of Hulk Hogan. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:11 So. See, I'm a non-wrestling guy. My first introduction is Hulk Hogan. You know, I know nothing about his history, but I remember seeing him and Andre the Giant. I mean, his match against Andre the Jod, arguably the biggest match, Shannon of all time, right? It is. Yeah. I mean, you tell me. 93,000 people in the Pontiac Silver Dome in Detroit. And he body slams him. It was alleged. It was the first time that ever happened. That wasn't true, but that's how they built it up.
Starting point is 00:38:39 And, uh, they had also commercial. Or so. Commercial endorsement? Did he do a Pepsi, big Pepsi campaign? Anything. I mean, you know, anything you can imagine, there was Hulk Hogan's name on it. All right. So you got to play the song, Shia. I mean, like, yeah. And you know what? I feel like we think I heart would let us play one song on the podcast for. No. All right. Well, then we can just sing it, Shad.
Starting point is 00:39:04 Yeah. Burr, burn, bur, burr, burr, burr, burr. When the sun's crashing down and it hurts inside. When it comes crashing down. Same thing. That's pretty good, though. Rest in peace to Hulk Cove. Really sad to hear that.
Starting point is 00:39:25 We will take a break and bury back. This is cool. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending. Opinions are flying. And nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where Sports Slice comes in.

And we're still chasing it. And we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. We were God's chosen kingdom on earth. He felt destined for greatness. So when a swaggering Armenian businessman catapults Jacob into an extraordinary world, he doesn't look back.
Starting point is 00:41:37 Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, meeting the president of Turkey. I'm Michelle McPhee, and this is one of the most shocking criminal conspiracies I've ever come across. When Jacob met Levant this went to a billion dollar fraud. But with two kings from entirely different worlds, just how long can their empire survive? The largest tax investigation in American history.
Starting point is 00:42:02 You need to tell me what you know. Is somebody coming after me? Jacob told Levan, you're ruining my life. Listen to Kingdom of Fraud on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you. you get your podcast. Life throws hurdles big and small. The question is, how do you conquer them?
Starting point is 00:42:25 On hurdle with Emily Abadi, we sit down with the most inspiring women in sports and wellness, professional athletes, coaches, and Olympic champions to talk about the challenges that shaped them and the mindset that keeps them going. From the WNBA standout Kate Martin and rising hockey star Layla Edwards. If a boy can do it, I don't see why a girl can't. Like, I've never understood that. Like, it didn't make sense in my brain. It's hard to be in spaces that no one looks like.
Starting point is 00:42:48 you, but don't ever feel like you don't belong. Don't let that be the reason you don't do it. An Olympic champs Gabby Thomas and Katie Ladeke. The ability to show a gold medal to someone and have their face light up and smile, that means the world to me. And that's what motivates me to win more gold medals. At our level, at this scale, like being able to fail in front of the entire world, like, I can do anything. I can do anything. Because resilience isn't just about winning. Starting point is 00:43:25 Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHart Women's Sports. Dude, how does this not get you pumped up? When you comes crashing down and it hurts inside. Come on, Jan, you got the next verse. Let's go. You got to take a stand. It'll help to hide. There you go.
Starting point is 00:43:44 Nice. Because when you hurt my friend. Then you hurt my pride. Man, I can't let it slide. I am a real American. Of every man. There we go, Shanna. Everybody.
Starting point is 00:44:05 I mean, everybody loves, for you and me, this is like a lifelong thing. I mean, this was so many, like, you know, kids' heroes growing up. As a kid, you would go to. you know, movie warehouse. And I would rent the videos, right? WrestleMania one, him and Mr. T on the front. Yep. Three, him and the giant, right?
Starting point is 00:44:30 Five, him and macho. Yep. Six. Him and the warrior. Him and the warrior. What, two? Him in Orndorf. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:38 You know? Yep. Hmm. Sad. I mean, later in life, he did some things that, but you know what? Still. legend there. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:44:50 Yeah. RIP Hulkster. Oh, dog. What's next? Oh, sorry, you caught me off guard. That's okay. Wiping my tears away. Go ahead.
Starting point is 00:45:00 Yeah, I've just got a couple things for you. Number one, I was going across looking for that uncensored top 50 players podcast that I ran into one. Y'all had gotten back from a late night. It was about in 2013, and Drew had a two-foot-tall bottle of rum, supposedly. Anyway, point number two, Me and my brother had a hot dog. He's talking about the one where we did with Ryan one, where Ryan told the Rob Bromley story,
Starting point is 00:45:24 which is still one of the better stories of all time. Yeah, that was a good one, too. That was a good one, too. That was good. It was like 2013. You're right. It was about then. I believe so.
Starting point is 00:45:34 So anyway, me and my buddy did a hot dog eating exhibition last night out in the great town of Poplar Plains Fleming County. And I thought I could get down 10 of them there in 10 minutes. That was the goal that was set by. all of our buddies but uh i felt the challenge only got seven and a half but my boy dougan he got 10 so uh what food do y'all think that y'all could eat the most of yeah i don't know i appreciate the call i'm not a mass eater like that so i don't know that's a druth yeah tacos is it stomach's built for it yeah i think i would win a taco eating contest yeah well uh have you had
Starting point is 00:46:10 a lot of people give you a hard time about not getting it about not doing it i'm telling you right after that that weekend i bet i was asked about it 500 times And were people saying you should have been able to do it? Yeah. I can do that. I'd be easy to do that. Like, okay, try it. Get one of those Jeff's donuts and just people.
Starting point is 00:46:27 Yeah. No, I mean, it's so much hard. Like, unless you've been there, you don't see how thick those things are. Man, when you open up the lid to that box, like, oh, my goodness. Yeah, that was a moment where it was clear you were like, I don't know what I agree. Absolutely. It's the side view of the donut where you see how tall it is. Yes.
Starting point is 00:46:46 There's someone staring through your. window there, Shannon. No, I don't know. Do they work at I-Heart? Looks like Ryan with Joe Biden. Binky, go ahead, Binky. Yeah, we know. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:58 Thank you. Team's reporting, Hulk Hogan's dead. That's what I wanted to tell. Oh, okay. Binky, go ahead. She's fussing at somebody. Binky? Oh, sorry, I clicked on Jerry.
Starting point is 00:47:14 I don't know what's going on. I got people coming in my studio and distract him. All right, let's go to Binky. Jerry's just going to complain. Go ahead to Binky. Yeah. You know, celebrities, they normally die in threes. You know, I just found out the Hulkster was number three.
Starting point is 00:47:28 Malcolm Jamal Warner died, I think, this weekend, swimming in with his daughter, then Ozzy, and now it's Holkster. Yeah, I mean, you know, they always say that threes, but those are three, those are three big ones. I mean, Ozzie and Hulk are legends, and then Malcolm Jamal Warner, one of the most famous TV stars of the 80s. So, yeah, that's a big one. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:49 Yeah, last thing, stay away. from Long John Silver's. One piece of Long John's fish has 30 grams of fat, saturated fat. I don't know what that means, though. 30 grams of fat, like, how much is that of your daily allowance? Oh, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:48:08 But I mean 30 grams of fat and one piece of fish sounds like a lot to me. Okay. Well, I appreciate it. I just don't know how much. That would be high for a day. That would be high for a day. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:19 So one piece of fish is a day. worth of fat. I mean, I could be proven wrong, but I think like 20 to 30 is a pretty big day for that. So one piece of fish would be about all you'd want to eat. But it is good. It's like it's the, it's good. Let's be on. When you're seeking that out, you're not really thinking about your body in that moment. You're not doing that for health. Like when I go to Jeff's donuts or Cains, name it. I'm not really considering my belly at that moment. If you're a heart attack, we'd go up to like 5% then. I'm still at one point seven. All right, cornbreadhip.com.
Starting point is 00:48:51 You go to cornbreadhip.com and you're able to rest, relax. Cornbread hemp is fighting the power like South Park, trying to keep you to be able to sleep and to get your seltzers and get your sort of groove on. It is cornbreadhemp.com. Use my promo code KSR for 20% off at cornbreadhemp. com promo code KSR. Let's go to Fred. Go ahead, Fred.
Starting point is 00:49:15 Hey, guys. What's up? I was just in Josies at the breakfast bar. and the guy sitting there, and he looked for mayor, and when he got up and left, it hit me, it was Chris Lofton. When he brought me my bill, Chris had picked up the tab for everybody sitting at the bar. Quietly left, never said anything about it.
Starting point is 00:49:36 As a class kid, making a class act, and I just want to give him a shout out. Wait a minute. Did he speak to you, or he just did it randomly? He just did it random. He didn't speak to me or anybody else. So I had met him probably about six years. ago. We had the same physical therapist.
Starting point is 00:49:53 I sure he didn't remember me. But I kept thinking, I know that guy. I know that guy. And then after it left, it hit me. But that was really good. Probably one of Tussie's biggest mistakes, not recruit. No, no doubt. That may be his biggest. I appreciate the call. It's hard for me to get upset about it because I loved Ramel Bradley, who he got instead.
Starting point is 00:50:12 But that is one tubby clearly missed. He had Rondo, Crawford, Bradley already in that class. Lofton would have been a fourth guard in that class. He would have. Brother. You know something, brother. You know something mean, Gene? All the little Hulkomaniacs out there say your prayers and eat your vitamins.
Starting point is 00:50:34 That's pretty good. Eastern Kentucky Hulk Hogan. It's a little country Hulk Hogan, brother. I remember being absolutely crushed when he went to NW. It was awesome. Greatest heel turn in the history of wrestling. Had that black beard. Yes.
Starting point is 00:50:49 And he came out and he gave the boot. And then I like to be a bad guy. He just paid his beard black. He was like, you want to know how I'm a bad guy now? I use just for men on my beard. That is how you know I'm a bad guy. So many great Hogan moments. What was that?
Starting point is 00:51:01 Was it something in Paradise? Thunder and Paradise? Was that a shit? Yeah. Yeah, that was like the cheap knockoff Baywatch. And he had Mr. Nanny. Oh, yeah. I think he was in three ninjas, which is one of my favorites growing up.
Starting point is 00:51:14 I also like Shannon when he wrestled. He had like no moves. Everybody else could do a little. leg drop and that was just a move. But when Hogan hit you with the leg drop, you were done. That's right. The body slam, the three punches. And then he would Hulk up, he would go, and then do the ear thing. It was the power of the Hulkomaniacs in that leg drop. That's right. It was the power of the Hulkomania. That's why it was so devastating. Well, you know, this is why we need a live stream. That's exactly right. We've had, I'm trying to think of
Starting point is 00:51:46 deaths we've learned about on the show. George Jones, we did. And Shannon and I actually cried on that one. That was sad. And now Hulkster. We learned during the two hours. Well, rest in peace to my man. I'm a little thrown off. I'll give Jerry 30 seconds and he better not bring me more down.
Starting point is 00:52:03 Go ahead, Jerry. Well, you guys were looking for a good place to eat in Nicholsville. The cottage cafe on the main street that are not like chain places. Cottage Cafe is a place called Dodd's Market that has really good plate lunches at the vegetable market. the Dixie Cafe over in Keene or if you want Mexican Fiesta, Mexico or you can go an hour and a half of Long John Silver's.
