This is Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Now, here's Matt Jones.
Welcome, everyone.
It is Kentucky Sports Radio Monday.
August the 11th.
I'm Matt Jones here in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania,
where I'm on the end of my trip to see the Reds and the Pirates getting in the car driving back tonight.
Reds have a home game against, I think Philly,
but Snoop Dog playing tonight in Cincinnati.
You can give us Shown Clark's Pump and Shop phone line 859-2-80-2-8027.
A-Visian Auto Glass text machine is 772-7-7-4 in this edition, sponsored by the T.J. Smith Law Office.
If you call T.J. I'll make them pay.
Drew is in Lexington.
Shannon is in Louisville.
Ryan is off.
So we've got a rare three people in three different places.
Drew Franklin.
I am in Pittsburgh, where we spent the entire weekend.
toward the city and watch the Reds win two games and now about to head home and been a good
weekend up here in the Steel City.
I'm glad I predicted a sweep, but, you know, two out of threes, not bad.
Did the fellas enjoy all these things beyond the baseball?
I know they're excited to some of them seeing Pittsburgh for the first time.
See, you and I have made a number of trips to Pittsburgh.
I guess you and I went on one of our baseball tours.
I think you and I went with Shannon and Ryan for Pickle Fest.
That's right, yeah.
Then we went two years ago when Kentucky lost to Oakland.
So this is at least my fourth trip to Pittsburgh,
and I've had a ton of fun with my friends.
But I think, Drew, I think Pittsburgh has a limit as to the places you can go.
Because I was sitting there thinking when we've been in the past,
When you and I went to the Oakland game, we really didn't have time to do anything else.
Remember?
And then we lost and came right back home.
So we didn't even really do anything.
Then when we went to Picklefast, they were having this big festival, and we did that.
I think when we went to the baseball game the one time, we just went to the game and left.
So when you get three days in the city, what I would say, Shannon, is Pittsburgh is a really good, like, one day city.
Well, that's what I got because I've only been there one time, and we got that one night.
There was a lot of fun.
I think you're good now.
I think you're good.
I think there's...
It was very memorable, though.
I mean, a lot of great things happened.
We stayed in that Airbnb that was shady at best.
And then we went to the Pickle Fest and you said you know more than the internet there.
We tried pickle beer.
We met Tiley, Texas.
A lot of great things happened on that night.
Yeah, no, I've had a lot of fun, a lot of fun because it was with my friends.
But we kind of realized, like, I think the symbol of Pittsburgh, and I don't want to be mean because there are Pittsburgh
people listening and they've given me recommendations and I just the food and just everything and it was
just not great including Drew on our way to walk to the game yesterday we saw someone had lit two
port-a-potties on fire and one was completely incinerated and I want you to think just for a second of what
you think a porta-potty looks like when it has been completely torched get yourself in the
Like to the ground, like not standing anymore.
But that stunk.
Okay.
You know, like that goo that was probably left.
Yeah.
Okay, think about what that would look like.
Can be flammable goo too.
Yeah, portable goo.
And they just leave it in the street, Shannon, right outside the stadium.
Like they didn't have any sense of maybe we ought to clean this.
It might not be a great look in front of the stadium.
They just kind of left it right there.
I'm glad they're doing good things with the city, really focusing on cleaning things up.
But I would just wonder, like, what is the scenario in which a porter potty is set on fire?
Like, you're just mad at the world?
It has to be intentional or somebody smoking in it?
You think somebody's smoking in it, like, you know, just threw down the cigarette butt and
it's plausible, right?
You're smoking in it?
There's probably not a lot of ventilation.
I think it was somebody who was just mad at the world, maybe wanted to make some sort of statement.
I'm going to go catch me.
Matt at the fact they were in Pittsburgh.
Yeah, exactly.
What do we do?
Set this thing on fire.
burn it down.
Well, don't give me wrong.
I did have a really good time.
The Braves won both games I went to.
Rans won both games I went to.
They won Saturday, two to one.
Then yesterday was like four-hour crazy game.
One 14 to 8.
Both teams combined for like 30 hits.
There was a ton of home runs.
A lot of fun.
It was hot here, but I've enjoyed it.
You remember when we went last time, Shady,
we ate it, Pramani Brothers, or what?
whatever, with the fries on the sandwich.
You know what I'm talking about?
Yeah, yeah.
And I think we were all disappointed.
We did it again here, disappointed again.
I don't understand why people drew like that sandwich,
which is just like a pastrami sandwich,
and they just put French fries on it.
I don't know why people think that's great.
I think the whole Philadelphia cheese steak,
all that stuff, way outshines, whatever it is Pittsburgh does here.
Yeah, it's one of those.
You've got to get one wire there,
but I believe I've had one and that was enough.
Yeah, I think that's plenty.
I've been on a bachelor party in Pittsburgh.
That was a good time.
There's the downtown casino.
So if you run out of options, just always go to the casino.
We went to casino last night.
I'm not going to say which one of my friends,
but one of them it took them four times to gain entry.
You too could probably guess which one it was because it's happened many times over the years.
They finally on the fourth attempt allowed him in,
which I thought was interesting.
You rarely see someone get four attempts.
I learned a new casino game that I don't know if I recommend it because it's not particularly fun,
but it's called Mississippi Stud.
And, Shannon, if you want to lose your money while also not understanding what's going on,
may I recommend to you Mississippi Stud the next time you go to the casino?
Yeah, I've never even heard of it before.
That sounds like a great way to lose some money.
I want to go back, though, just a minute, your friend here who will remain nameless.
Didn't get let in four times.
Okay.
How does that work?
Did he try different gates each time?
No.
Like the same, he kept going back to the same guy.
Well, I think I could just say, because I'm not saying what it is.
He had a, he only, everywhere he goes, he carries a knife, which, by the way, is not something I do.
Well, I mean, that's like something my grandpa did.
He always had a pocket knife.
It is.
It's something grandpa's did.
Like, my grandpa always had a knife.
When's the last time you've been somewhere, Drew, and you thought,
I really wish I had a knife right now.
Have you ever thought that?
I mean, I have my kitchen knives.
Other than that, knife didn't really go in with me anywhere.
Yeah, my grandfather gave me a knife, and it's still in a drawer.
You know how I have a drawer of things that are, I might need these one day.
It's in there.
Well, I wasn't carrying my knife.
So he carried in, he was carrying his knife.
We walk in.
Shannon, he declared the knife walking in.
Yeah.
I guess he didn't want the metal detector to go off.
He said, I have a knife.
And the woman said, well, you can't get in here with that.
And so he goes, okay.
And then he walked outside the door, and Shannon, he just set it outside the door.
Just set the knife.
Comes back in.
Second time.
He said, sir, you can't just leave the knife sitting outside the door and picking it up later.
All right.
But see, we'd Uber there.
He has nowhere else to put it.
He can take it to like a coat check or something and drop it off there.
No. So there's a fence out of the door.
front. So he walks back out and he puts it and through one of the holes of the fence and leaves
it on the other side of the fence. Yeah. She said, because she had said, you're going to have to
take it off the property. So he takes it off the fence. Then he takes it over there and she goes,
that's not far enough off the property. Oh my God. He just took and walk all the way back out there,
get it. And I told him he should just throw it like out as far as he could throw it. Instead, he just put
in the trash can and he threw away his knife and then they let him in. So he ended up losing
his knife and we were able to come in and play Mississippi stuff. Fourth times of charge to get into the
to the casino. Now he doesn't have his knife. He can't carve an apple. He can't do any whittling
while he's there. I mean, like, why do you even need that to begin? I always wonder, are you going to
stick somebody? Like, why are you carrying that knife around? That's exactly right. If there's any
emergency whittling that needs done, we're just going to be screwed on the rest of the drive home.
I'm glad he finally got in. So anyway.
And by the way, Summer of Ellie, only a game and a half back from the wild card now.
The Mets are a game and a half ahead of us with like 40 games to go.
We play the Phillies this weekend.
That's tough.
The Mets play the Braves.
Shannon, Drew, I need you all to help us out.
The Mets have lost 9 of 10.
Can you keep that up for us?
We own the Mets.
So I think the Braves, they've got you.
Now, you just got to take care of business on your end.
Red still got to win, but I think the Braves.
Well, the Red schedule starts to get hard this week.
This is a tough week.
They've got the Phillies and the Brewers.
But Drew, will you tell my Braves or tell your Braves to play extra hard for us this week?
I will.
I will. I want the Reds in the playoffs.
So I hope the Braves do well.
I will note, I think they've won three games since about the middle of July, two of which we're against the Reds.
Two of which we're against us.
We're not really hot at the time, but we'll do our best.
Well, I hope it ends up happening.
859-280, 2287.
We are going to get you ready throughout the day here.
go over some stuff.
Let's start.
Drew, they had UK football,
UK football's first practice,
like inter-squad practice,
or at least the one since the thing had started.
And there were really three things that stuck out to me.
Number one, the coaches all clearly have a theme.
Three of the position coaches spoke.
They didn't, this is the first.
You know, a lot of time they don't,
the position coaches don't speak until the season gets going.
It was Anwar Stewart,
and honestly, I can't remember who the other two.
two words. But they all three use the same phrase. They all three said in some respect, we know
there are doubters out there, but we're not going to worry about it. We're not doing any talking.
The doubters will learn. Amwar Stewart was the loudest saying, I know there's people out there in the
media saying we're only going to win four or five games. I think he's what he said. So Shannon,
I'm thinking he's talking about this show because we have all used the four or five games
scenario. And he says, but we are going to show the doubters that they're wrong.
Do you like that mentality, Drew? Do you like the acknowledging that people doubt saying we're
not talking, saying we're not going to say anything while I guess they are saying something
and saying we're going to shut all those doubters up?
I like that he says it. And it's, it sounds like they're, they're being very intentional and
keeping everything internal. Don't listen to the outside noise. We believe in ourselves.
that's the way you want your players and your coaches to talk and feel.
However, as one of those Debbie Downers, that is me, my hand is raised,
I worry that that will backfire and be used against him in a few weeks if it's not going
well.
Same with Bush Hamden's comments about how the big blue wall will be back.
If this season doesn't go well, you're going to look back at some of the things
that have said in the last few weeks and probably be used against them.
But I guess it is the right attitude to have.
It was just odd hearing him be so out front about it and kind of
calling people out really.
I think, Shannon, people, coaches should do whatever it takes to motivate their team, right?
And if what motivating their team is means saying, hey, we have doubters.
I mean, all the coaches do that.
Here's what I don't understand.
I don't understand how you can claim you're not hearing it and then respond to all of it.
Oh, they know.
I would rather they just come out and go, everybody's against us, good, let's go.
I mean, and then I still prefer this staff.
trash talking. I prefer this staff because I think the silence has been a huge mistake. What has been the
biggest, what has been the best part of the offseason for Kentucky football? It's been Shiaj Pete,
right? Yeah. That's been the best part of the off season. Sports Center picked up our interview
with him, Shannon. Did you see that? No, I didn't see that. The Sports Center Instagram picked up that
interview. I mean, there have literally been millions of people across the country see that. To me,
That says, hey, this fan base, they are dying to know something about you all.
So this whole, like, we're not going to say anything.
We're going to put our head down.
Watch out, you know, doubters.
We know.
I just, I don't like it.
Now, again, if they win, none of it matter.
If they lose, none of it will matter.
I don't think they've handled the offseason from a PR perspective very well outside of one
Shiaj Pete interview.
But, you know, I think it's just that's clearly the strategy they want to do.
I like the confidence.
I like the, they're talking up this team.
I mean, as opposed to what?
Either not saying anything, they're not going to come out and go,
oh, we're going to suck this year.
So I like that there's confidence, but you've got to go out there and back it up.
And, of course, they hear, they might be actively seeking out radio stations to hear what's being said about them.
But they see this stuff on social media.
I mean, you can't avoid it if you're a player.
No, you can't avoid it.
And I'm fine with them not avoiding it.
I just wish to acknowledge it.
The second thing we have to do, and I want to talk about this a little more after the break.
what were they doing with that picture shoot?
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I was hoping we would talk about this.
What were they doing with that?
All right, so during the break,
here's what I want you to do if you're listening out there.
Because I have intentionally not posted it
because I got fans of all these other teams following me.
This is worse than the construction helmets.
This is the worst thing we've done in a long time.
as a UK as a UK picture video I have intentionally not posted it because I know how many fans of other teams follow us but we listen we're family we can all talk together everybody during the break just look up this video I don't know what should they search for because Drew you don't you shouldn't post it either you got too many people following you yeah I don't want those mentions I guess his last name is Rainer so R-A-Y-N-E-R if you search his name
I think it will come up.
All right.
So look up Brainer or just look up video that makes us all cry.
I want everybody to be on the same page when we talk about it.
Yeah.
Because it's awful.
Shannon, don't you post it either.
Oh, yeah.
No, no.
If you guys aren't going to do it, I am.
No, Shannon.
I'm doing it.
Do not contribute to this video.
Well, I mean, obviously they want people to see it.
I'm just trying to help them give some views.
That's the point of doing this.
If you want to be, then you could be the one to do it.
But everybody look at it.
And then we'll come back after the break and talk about it.
859-280-2287.
It's KSR.

Life throws hurdles big and small.
The question is, how do you conquer them?
On hurdle with Emily Abadi, we sit down with the most inspiring women in sports and wellness,
professional athletes, coaches, and Olympic champions to talk about the challenges that shaped them
and the mindset that keeps them going.
From the WNBA standout Kate Martin and rising hockey star Layla Edwards.
If a boy can do it, I don't see why a girl can't.
Like, I've never understood that.
Like, it didn't make sense in my brain.
It's hard to be in spaces that no one looks like you, but.
Don't ever feel like you don't feel long.
Don't let that be the reason you don't do it.
An Olympic champs Gabby Thomas and Katie Ladeke.

Welcome back.
It is Kentucky Sports Radio 859-2-8-2-8-2-2-2-2-827.
Text machine 7-7-7-4-4.
One person writes, Matt, my husband always carries a pocket knife.
Ask him if he has a knife on him and he says, am I wearing pants?
So I guess, is that like a, I guess it's a manly.
to have a knife. Do you know any women that carry a knife anywhere?
I don't, Drew.
No. I can't think of a time I would need it.
There'd be so many days I'd walk around with a knife and never, never.
But if you ever did, though.
I don't know that there's been one time in my life, Shannon, that I've taken a knife.
What do you do when you open it?
Is that, is there like word for it?
Open the blade?
Yeah.
What's it?
Is that, but is there like a term like, like, switch it or something?
There's like a switchplate.
Well, they have switch plates.
Yeah.
But I don't think you're carrying a switch blade.
You're carrying like a little small one that flips out like a little pocket knife.
Yeah, I'm just saying I don't think there's ever a time I've opened one and then used it ever.
I think I have one, but I would never, I would never carry it.
And you can't carry it into the Pittsburgh casino.
I can tell you that right now or they will make you leave.
On my Pittsburgh bachelor party, it must be a Pittsburgh thing.
I flew there with my best friend from Lexington and I go through security and I don't
see him. I'm like, all right, I go sit at the bar
and 30 minutes have passed, and I text him, like, how did
I lose you from TSA to here?
He had a gigantic knife in his bag
going through the Pittsburgh airport coming home
from the bachelor party, so it must be a Pittsburgh
thing and people need their knives. Well, they must
have some history with it.
All right, so Shannon posted the video, which I
was very rude of him.
What?
So I don't know.
Let's give them
for people, so you can find it on Twitter at
Shannon the dude. It might be on KSR as well.
I'm not sure.
Maybe we didn't put it there on purpose.
Let's give them the best.
For people who haven't seen,
they have two of the players holding hands.
Like, they're facing each other.
They're facing each other, hands together,
and they both jump up in the air and kick their legs up in the air.
But by kick the legs up in the air,
I mean like feet going backwards.
So staying straight up and down, but their feet go up.
And if you have a hard time picturing it, no human being jumps like this.
Okay.
I mean, it's not a natural jump.
And they are holding each other's hand, looking at the camera, and they both jump like that.
Let's give them the best of all motives.
Drew, what were they thinking?
Okay, they obviously have some personality.
I remember King's Media Day one time.
DeMarcus wore glasses and held a book.
He was being like a nerd at Media Day.
They're trying to have fun of Media Day.
But at no point did they consider what other fan bases would say about this.
But what was the point of that picture?
Like jumping up and being goofy I get, even the little stepbrothers picture, so they have like a stepbrothers picture where he's leaning on him.
Okay, that one's fine.
but the jumping up in the air and kicking their legs back while holding hands.
What was the theory behind that?
Someone told them to do that.
When the person was telling them to do that, what were they thinking they were accomplishing?
I think it's the opposite.
I think the photographer probably said, are you sure you want to do this?
Oh, you think the players came up with that.
No one would make them do that.
That person should be fired if they made them do that.
I think that's them trying to show some person.
personality, not even considering what a horrible look is for at least one of them is your starting
linebacker who is supposed to lead your defense.
I think the one on the left is a freshman.
He's probably just seeing a captain on the team like, okay, I guess I better do this.
But Rainer is a starting linebacker and the Tennessee's, the Louisville's, you name it.
They are just having so much fun with this on the internet right now.
But why are they doing it? Why are they holding hands?
you're not intimidated by that video
you don't think that those guys
can just run you over after seeing that video
I mean listen let people
be whatever they want but I
cannot imagine
taking that video
and putting it out
can you
he posted it himself
it wasn't like someone behind the scenes took it and he didn't want it out
he Rainer posted it on his account
like the second half of the video
was fine with him like taking the ball between
between his legs. That looks cool. That stuff's fine. But what is the, what is the job? I mean, that picture, that's going to, that picture is going to live all year.
Mm-hmm. Yeah. Do you remember the Patrick Toll's Catspaws cover when he was Harry Potter?
Yes. The Patrick Toll's Catspaws cover would beat up that, this video right here in a fight. I thought that was our worst look of all time. No, the Patrick Toll's Catspaws cover is, it's Adrian Adonish versus bitch.
I don't know what this is.
When I first saw it, I have to tell you, I thought it was AI.
I was like, I thought somebody is screwing with this.
There's no way that they would do that picture.
And with that look on their face, and I guess I still don't, the part I don't get
Shannon is the holding hands.
Like, it's not even, it's not, it's so awkward.
Is that a trend or something that we're old?
Okay, well, that's what I'm going to ask.
Is there a trend or something that we don't understand?
understand. Am I missing something?
Please tell me there is.
I want to be told I'm missing something.
Because if I'm missing something, then I can accept it and just go, oh, Tennessee,
Louisville fans, they don't understand this cool trend, right?
Like maybe it's like the, you know, I don't know, pick the trend of the,
maybe it's like the Rizzler.
Maybe we just don't know what he does.
This, there has to be a reason, true.
I don't think there is.
I wish Ryan were here and I weren't by myself.
Mario was with me.
I'd recreate it with Ryan.
I'd try to get the heat off our football players and put it on us,
take one for the team there.
Actually, I'll tell you what.
No, no, you know what, Drew, I think you do need to do that.
Why don't you grab Billy?
I think, did Billy leave, Mario?
I'll get the guy that sits outside the door if Billy's not available.
Just get somebody and recreate it.
Okay, because you're right.
We're going to have to take one for the team because I think we're lucky, Shannon,
that more of college football hasn't discovered that.
Oh, yeah.
I still don't think it's as viral as it could.
It's not.
I mean, I saw it, but I think a lot of people were just down singing it for the first time this morning.
Because it was on the weekend and stuff, I don't know if everybody has seen it.
Maybe we shouldn't have talked about it.
I know.
You shouldn't have tweeted it, which is what I said to you.
We're contributing to the viral video.
If it goes viral, it's because of you.
I told you, let's leave it amongst ourselves on this show.
Let's not put it online.
I'll take your calls.
859-280.80. It's 20-807. It's KSR.
T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney.
Call T.J. He'll make them pay.
Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Here's Matt Jones.
Welcome back, Tucky Sports Radio.
Apparently, U.K. did put that picture out.
The video out originally drew and then took it off.
See, if you're going to put it out, you've got to leave it.
That's worse.
Yeah, I think it is kind of worse.
Now, we have a woman that's a young woman that listens.
she writes and says
you are not Gen Z.
You don't understand.
I watched it and thought it was fun.
And that may be true.
That's what I'm hoping is the case.
That's what I'm hoping is the case.
I'm hoping this is just, you know,
Matt, Shannon and Drew,
they don't get it,
and that's what I'm hoping.
I will see the initial reaction online.
Seems like more people have reacted like us, Drew,
than to say it was fun, but that's okay.
You know what?
Maybe so.
I just have a feeling that the kind of people that are into college football are not going to be the kind of people that are going to go, oh, that's fun.
That's a fun video.
Maybe high school recruits, though, do.
Maybe they do.
Maybe it is fun.
Maybe I'm wrong.
I have my doubts, but I'll admit I'm not hip on everything the kids are doing.
She's in the, I know her.
You want your linebacker to be mean and angry.
I'm not getting it there.
I think she just graduated school.
Maybe she knows.
I have to tell you that I overheard.
during the break, a conversation that was going on in the Lexington Studio.
And Mario was totally on board with recreating the video.
Billy, however, said, absolutely not.
I will not do it.
And Billy's still there, by the way.
Billy didn't run off, so don't act like Billy's not there.
Billy's there.
But Billy refuses to do the video.
I did get a hard no from Billy.
Not even, wouldn't even entertain the idea.
See, that's so late.
That's, you know what keeps Billy from reaching his tour potential, Shannon is doing that.
Not doing videos.
Not doing video.
You know who would do it?
Ryan would do it.
Drew would do it.
I was in.
It's all about the content.
I would do it.
Shannon, I don't know if you would do it though.
You and Billy are kind of the same way.
You all have this cool thing.
I don't know if you would do it or not.
I don't know if I would do that.
Exactly.
All right, before we go, the phones, Friday night,
I guess they started the high school football scrimmages in Kentucky.
And apparently there was a massive fight, Drew.
Have you seen this?
I have.
I saw the photos from him.
It was Rowan County and who?
Is it Bourbon County?
I know Rowan County I feel like was one of them.
No, Rowan was one of them.
The other, I want to make sure I get right.
I started to say boom.
So I have not seen the video of the fight.
I've just seen pictures of bloody people walking around.
It is Burbin County.
Yeah.
Bourbon County.
So Rowan County and Bourbon County, they get in a fight.
And it, is there a video of the fight or is it just the aftermath?
Because the aftermath looks like a final destinations movie.
Like there are like multiple bloody people.
Do we know what happened?
I've only seen the photos and read the 500 comments or whatever it was with different people saying what happened.
But I have not seen an actual video.
So I saw the KHSA made a statement about it and sent it to all the high schools and said,
y'all better act right or we're going to make you recreate that video.
if you put in football.
But what did the, since I've been up here,
what did the, you said there were descriptions of what happened?
What were they?
Well, there's a picture of a kid just, his face is just all blooded up.
That's what you saw.
Yeah, he looks like he's been in the ladder match.
Yeah.
In the comments, it said someone took his helmet off and hit him, hit him with it.
And then there's like stories of players running nearly 50 yards to go find another player,
There are people coming out of the stands.
It sounds like there was a Royal Rumble at this opening night.
But it was just a scrimmage.
It was a scrimmage, Shannon.
And do Bourbon County and Round County have beef?
I mean, what are they fighting over?
They take those scrimmages really seriously there between those two.
I don't know.
Well, if you were there, I'd like to know some details.
Because all I've seen is the picture of the bloody people at.
But like, you get that many people in a place, someone I would think would have had a video.
They're too busy fighting.
I guess.
That's one of the worst
aftermath of a high school,
certainly of a high school football fight I've ever seen.
It's not a little bit of blood.
His face is covered.
His face is,
he's like,
it's like Rick Flair,
Barry Wyndham.
With his face.
Yeah.
It's unbelievable.
All right, who's up first?
Let's go to John.
John, go ahead, John.
I was accused of this over the weekend.
Am I being a bad fan for thinking
that this Kentucky football team?
team's going to go two and ten.
I've seen a lot of delusional things where they're going to make the
playoff, but I don't think it's bad.
Wait, no, you haven't. Stop right there.
Stop right there. I'm willing to listen to your two and ten
argument, and I'm willing to, but I don't, I'm not going to let you do
what people do on television, which is they take the most extreme
version of the other argument and act like that's the mainstream.
Tell me one person that has argued Kentucky's going to make the playoff.
There's a podcast called.
Kentucky bluer than you.
There's a podcast.
Hang on,
I'm writing this down because I want to see if you're right.
You're telling me there's a podcast called Kentucky is bluer than you?
No, bluer than you.
It's just they're hardcore Kentucky fans.
Their whole thing is that we're the most Kentucky fan.
Kentucky bluer than you.
Okay, and it's a podcast.
I'm going to find this before you're going,
because I'm putting a name on this if you're going to make the argument.
Kentucky,
than you podcast.
Sounds like a country music song.
Yeah.
I do not.
Redneck than you.
Just for the record,
sir.
I do not see this on Google.
I do not see a bluer than you podcast.
I've only seen Cliffs with them on TikTok,
to be honest with you.
All right.
Either way.
Well,
wait,
whoa,
whoa,
wait,
wait,
wait,
hang on, hang on, hang on,
hang on, hang on.
I'm going to,
you're telling me,
I'm not going to do this right now.
But if I get online, there will be a podcast called Bluer Than You.
There should be, yes.
Should be, Shannon.
It should be or is.
I mean, what did you see?
Maybe it's not a podcast.
All right.
That's what's called Kentucky Bluer Than You.
Kentucky Blueer Than You.
And so you're saying a lot.
Remember, you said lots of people are saying this.
So we're down to Bluer Than You podcast.
All right.
Let me just assume for sake of argument that Bluer Than You podcast is saying it.
I don't believe they are.
but let's say they are. Now, tell me why you think we're going to go two and two.
I just don't believe that the offense is at a point that would be very good.
It's to me like a group of five-level offense. I don't believe in our quarterback situation.
They kind of hold the ball too long. They're kind of play like Johnny Mansell, but don't have the talent of Johnny Mansell.
I don't believe the offense of mine have made drives that it needs to be.
And I think the defense took a step back, and it should be decent, but like it's just not going to be good enough to make up the pitfalls.
offensive loud. All right. I appreciate the call. What are the chances, Drew, we finish
two and ten? Very slim. I mean, I'm not the most optimistic person in the fan base,
but two and ten is too low of a floor. They're going to be improved from a year ago. We just
know how hard the schedule is. They're much better than two wins. I think it's highly,
highly unlikely, but I'll note what's interesting. If we lose week one, it's on the table.
That's true.
I mean, it's true.
That spreads down to eight and a half now.
It's down to eight and a half, week one, Shannon.
It is down to eight and a half.
It opened, by the way, at 14 and a half.
Then was quickly down to 12 and a half.
It is now eight and a half.
If you believe in Kentucky, like you should load up on that.
But it is now eight and a half, Shannon,
against Toledo in our opening week.
Yeah, it doesn't worry me at all.
I'm not concerned about Toledo.
If you can't beat Toledo, it's over.
It's over.
Well, that's what I'm saying.
I mean, this guy, I mean, we're kind of mocking his two and ten.
But if we lose to Toledo, that is completely on the table.
Isn't it, Drew?
I mean, yeah, if they lose to Toledo.
I think they win an SEC game, too.
I don't want to get carried away.
I'm pretty firm on five wins, so I'm still a downer.
But I just think two is too low for all the experience they have.
And I think they do have a much improved team from a year ago.
Now I want you to place the bet.
two parts. Number one, is there a bluer than you podcast?
No, not a podcast. There may be somebody's account called that, but not a podcast.
True, bluer than you podcast?
I've never heard of it, and Google hasn't either. So between the two of us, we have not found it.
I'm going to say no. All right, let's say there is a bluer than you podcast. Do you think someone on there said we're going to the playoffs?
If anyone would predict the playoff, it would be the podcast that calls.
claims to be bluer than any other podcasts.
So I'll give them that.
I just have a hard time anyone that truly follows the team went through last year.
I don't know how you could say the turnaround goes from four wins and you can't win a home game to now you're in the playoff.
All right, Billy, if you're not going to do the jumping picture, you're listening right now.
I would need you to find and find out if there's a bluer than you podcast.
Actually, Mario, you can do this.
You're with Drew.
Mario, look and see if there's a bluer than you podcast and then see.
if there is, if they predicted 9 and 3.
I'm going to guess the answer to both of those questions is false,
but we'll find out.

Life throws hurdles big and small.
The question is, how do you conquer them?
On hurdle with Emily Abadi,
we sit down with the most inspiring women in sports and wellness,
professional athletes, coaches, and Olympic champions
to talk about the challenges that shaped them
and the mindset that keeps them going.
From the WNBA standout Kate Martin
and rising hockey star Laila Edwards.
If a boy can do it, I don't see why a girl can't.
Like, I've never understood that.
Like, it didn't make sense in my brain.
It's hard to be in spaces that no one looks like you,
but don't ever feel like you don't feel like you don't feel on.
Don't let that be the reason you don't do it.
An Olympic champs, Gabby Thomas and Katie Ladeki.
The ability to show a gold medal to someone and have their face light up and smile,
that means the world to me.
And that's what motivates me to win more gold medals.
At our level, at this scale, like, being able to fail in front of the entire world.
Like, I can do anything.
I can do anything.
Because resilience isn't just about winning.
It's about showing up, even when it's hard.

Welcome back, Techie Sports Radio.
It looks like from all of my searching, there is no bluer than you podcast.
He just made that up.
I think he did that thing, which I think a lot of people do, which is they say they figure out what they want.
to disagree with.
And then they just say a lot of people are saying the other thing.
I genuinely believe that's what happened with that Sydney-Sweeney thing.
It was like a couple people said it.
And then it was a lot of people.
And then it became a thing.
And it wasn't even really a thing.
But people wanting to disagree with it made it a thing.
And I think this is the same way.
I think this dude, except this guy, I think, created, he went so far, Shannon,
is to create a podcast that does not exist.
That's right.
Yeah.
On the fly, too.
That's pretty impressive.
I give him credit, though.
I do like Bucky Smaller who says, I listen to Bluer Than You.
It's just two dudes claiming one is more depressed than the other one.
I'm sad.
I'm sad.
No, I'm sad.
Actually, the caller has an opportunity to launch the Bluer Than You podcast because right now the searches are hot.
If that podcast existed, this could have been their moment.
That's true.
But they don't exist.
All right.
We have to talk for just a second about sports failures here for a minute.
I don't know what to say, Drew, about the NASCAR guy.
Oh, man.
I mean, luckily, he's okay.
But, you know, he got on top of his car to celebrate,
got his foot stuck in the netting of the car,
fell and knocked himself out and broke his collarbone.
Is that as bad a celebration fail as a human being could have?
He's lucky the camera didn't catch his head hitting.
It just disappears out of the frame.
He just disappears because I don't think the cameraman thought he was going to fall.
That's one of the craziest things I've ever seen, isn't it?
It's up there.
I'm actually going to pass to Shannon because I heard him say on the pre-show that he spent all weekend just watching it over and over.
I mean, does it make me a bad person that I watched that and couldn't stop laughing.
I mean, maybe it does.
Well, did you wait to make sure he was okay before you started laughing?
It's a broken collarbone.
He's alert.
He's talking.
he's fine he has a broken collarbone
and I said well I'm gonna laugh at that
I can't help myself
he's not dead it could have been a lot worse though
you know he could have had a cracked skull
or something like that but you know
a broken collarbone after that nasty fall
straight I mean face planning on
the payment I mean first of all could you have
a worse
like that was his first ever win
yeah so can you imagine the joy
of the victory
and then you wake up in the hospital
like what happened
and you're like what happened
I won, didn't I?
Yeah.
And they was like, did somebody beat me up?
No, man.
Don't.
You fell.
Don't turn on your phone.
You fell from the top of the car.
And he's out for like the rest of the season with a broken collarbone.
I haven't seen anything since the collarbone news.
Is he laughing at himself or has he gone into hiding?
Is he playing it off well?
I mean, what else can you do at this point?
I mean, what else can you do?
I mean, that's one of the all-time fails.
that I've ever seen.
He got his foot stuck in the net.
That is the most embarrassing celebration I've ever seen, like, in sports history.
Like, I've seen guys get injured, you know, celebrating, but not to that degree.
I mean, you've had people like, you know, tear their hamstring or you pull their hamstring or tear their Achilles.
Like, you've seen ACL.
Gramatica is the famous one.
He kicks the field goal and celebrates and tears his ACL, Bill Gramatica.
Yeah, but that's bad.
But this dude knocked himself out.
climbing out of the car and celebrate.
I was watching it on a loop for a good two or three solid minutes.
All right.
Then Mariano Rivera played in the Yankees Legends game,
Tora's Achilles.
And by the way, it wasn't even pitching.
It was while he was playing center field.
He went to run to catch and there's a video.
It just collapses.
I feel like they've got to end these old guys.
playing baseball because, you know, one dude, Sean Casey was playing for the Savannah bananas,
Torres Bicep or whatever.
But you go to play in the Yankee.
To me, the Yankees' legends game is just a way to embarrass people.
Johnny Damon.
Poor Johnny Damon, Shannon.
Yeah.
Did you see?
I mean, all he did was set himself up for ridicule.
I don't want to be remembered like that if I'm one of these legends.
I want to be remembered for how I was in my prime.
There's no way I would even play in one of those games because
it's the first time they've done one.
Yeah, it's the first time they've done one since COVID.
I kind of wonder now, I kind of wonder now, Drew, if they're done.
I mean, Mario Rivera ends up with an ACL injury.
Johnny Damon ends up mocked on the internet for looking like he looked in that picture.
Like, do you think they just decide we just can't do this anymore?
They should, and these players, they get out there, and I'm sure their juices are
flowing being back in front of the crowd again.
They've missed it and they think those legs or those arms still work the way they used to.
And you just get to a point where it's more dangerous than it is fun for you.
Mariano's a great example of that.
Johnny Damon just being fat.
I felt bad for him.
I didn't even recognize him.
I just showed up to wave.
I honestly felt bad for him.
He just shows up at the game, probably excited to be there.
And then somebody just takes his picture.
I felt bad.
I did.
I felt bad for him.
I kind of felt bad for all those people.
The guy who wins the race, falls on his head.
Johnny Damon's is bad because, you know, he was known for being a handsome guy.
Now he's in his 50s.
I mean, you can't look like that forever.
Like, he's not supposed to look young forever.
It's like we were talking about Pamela Anderson channel.
Like, what she's, she's older now.
She's not supposed to look like she's 20 anymore.
Right.
Still pretty.
I did have to look at the Johnny Damon picture when I first saw it to make sure it was real.
because I thought that's Johnny Damon.
Yeah, I didn't believe it either.
He is like 50-some years old.
Who's up next?
Radio Ron.
Radio Ron.
How are you?
I am fine.
Thank you.
Good morning, Matt and Drew.
And who else is there this morning?
Oh, Shannon, of course.
Speaking of old guys,
Matt, I competed in the Kentucky senior track and field games
at Transylvania once again in Lexington on Saturday.
Good for you.
How many gold medals did you get?
All right.
I was going to tell you, eight.
All the sprints, the 50, the 100, 200,
shot put, discus, javelin, long jump, and triple jump.
And I won eight gold medals.
But I moved into a new category this year,
age category of 90 to 94.
Okay.
amazing. So you won eight gold medals, Bruce Jenner out there.
How many people were competing against you?
Well, I've got to be honest, Matt. You always ask me that and zero.
But I did meet one 93-year-old lady who competed in the 50-meter friend.
Yeah. Oh, she was in it. Really? That's cool.
She was actually a competitor.
Against you?
To see her.
Against you?
Oh, no.
No, they separate the ladies from the men.
I would have, yeah.
And, you know, I wanted to say, though, Mike, that, I mean, and math, that winning the medals is nice.
I won't lie about that, but I enjoy more.
The opportunity of seeing old friends once a year.
knowing that they are still in good health, they are upright, and some I have known since
1997 when I first entered the game.
Well, I always give you a hard time about this, Ron, but the fact that you are still
throwing a shot put in your 90s is very inspirational and throwing a discus.
I couldn't even pick up a discus in 90s.
So congratulations on your eight gold medals.
I still need someone to step up and compete.
I might have to let you go, Ron.
We got to go to break.
I know you, but I appreciate all your doing well and your excitement and keep it up, okay?
Okay, keep walking, Mike.
I mean, Matt.
All right, Mike.
There you go.
It could probably be Johnny Damon in a race.
That's going to be my T-shirt.
Keep walking, Mike.
Mike.
We're going to talk to break.
Be right back.
