Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter.

Starting point is 00:01:30 Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports. I'm Michelle McPhee, and I've been unraveling the strangest criminal alliance I've ever reported on. A Mormon polygamist and an Armenian businessman. Multi-million dollar house, Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, a billion dollar fraud. But how long can this alliance last? Tell me what you know. Is somebody coming after me?
Starting point is 00:02:00 Listen to Kingdom of Fraud on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Starting point is 00:03:19 Okay, Mario has just put out on the KS Bar Twitter feed and Facebook feed and the Bond That Bridge Facebook feed. So those are the three places. The link to the opening night for KSbar fan dinner. So for those of you that want to do it, we're selling them by table.
Starting point is 00:03:44 So you buy the whole table and it's four people and you can bring who you like. So you buy the whole table and you can obviously split it with people. I think it's $20 a seat. And we're selling them by the table. It'll be Thursday, August the 21st, and it'll be a way to, like, sample different items we're going to have for everybody there. So that is August 21st. It has just gone on sale.
Starting point is 00:04:09 I'm giving you like an hour where the only people that know, I mean, it's on there. But, like, I'm not going to promote it on my feeds until after the show. So hopefully we can sell as many of the tables as possible to those of you that listen here live. And Drew should be a fun event. You know, we have, we're doing the trivia on Wednesday. We're doing the opening on Thursday. And then we're having a friend's and family opening on that Saturday. And then the restaurant itself opens to the general public on the 26th.
Starting point is 00:04:41 It's almost here. I'm going to run by there again today. We had a few more pictures coming in, getting close to finishing my decorating duties. But it's really coming together. And I'm excited for that new menu to roll out some new things on there. I'm excited to gain a lot of weight eating. Lots of new stuff. And thank you again to the people who came to the wings thing about a week ago.
Starting point is 00:05:01 Like I said, we were trying to decide do we want to do have two different kinds of wings, the ones that we normally have and this other new type fried wings. And we just decided after that night not to do the fried wings. And we picked our sauces based on it. And so it was very helpful. And you folks will be getting an email for me with some thank yous for doing that. That was a fun night. All right, 859.
Starting point is 00:05:25 280, 2287. Before we go to the phone, one thing about an off-season basketball thing here. Oh, by the way, there were five Shannon high school fights this weekend. Oh, wow. All scrimmages, too, huh? All scrimmages. That's why the KHSA said it, five fights where someone was kicked out of the game due to fighting. I mean, like with multiple people.
Starting point is 00:05:48 We're going to fight at least make it count, do it during the regular season. So everybody may need to chill out in Kentucky high school football a little bit. no idea that was going to be like that. Some basketball things, Drew, I keep hearing over and over. I mean, I've been hearing this all summer, but really in the last few weeks when they've started working out a lot, I continue to hear positive things about our guy Colin Chandler. Maybe it's the marriage, maybe it's just getting into a second year and having been at UK for a while.
Starting point is 00:06:18 But I keep hearing people tell me that Colin Chandler is like really pushing to be six seventh, eighth man rolls and is in time, at times, can look as comfortable as anybody on the court. I know you're hearing similar things. Are you thinking like junior Nick Richards status here for Colin Chandler? Or is sophomore Colin Chandler a thing? I don't do these predictions very often. In fact, I don't know that I've done one six since Nick Richards, but I think we're looking for that kind of jump from a freshman to a sophomore with Chandler. And kind of similar circumstances. Nick Richards had a long time where he didn't play basketball before he got to UK.
Starting point is 00:07:00 And I think with Chandler's mission, we saw just the change he made from Christmas to the tournament. We remember last year there were moments where he was on the floor, especially offensively, where you're like, this guy, he can't be out there. In the non-conference, it didn't look like he could play. But in the tournament, I mean, he's hitting step-back threes. My favorite stat that I share all the time is he had more points in March than he did November through February. He completely hit another gear. and if he just keeps riding that upward trend,
Starting point is 00:07:26 I think he's going to be hard to keep on the bench this season. Yeah, I mean, I hate to get, you know, I mean, every year I make like my Matt Jones official player. The guy decided that it's going to be my guy. Last year, you know, for the two years prior to last, it was Antonio Reeves. That ended up working out really well for me. Last year it was Jackson Robinson.
Starting point is 00:07:50 That worked kind of well. He didn't quite get where I thought he would, but he was solid. This year it's going to be Jalen Lowe. I'm like going, I mean, Jalen Lowe's got, I'm putting all my stock in Jailen Lowe. But if I was going to buy a second stock, Drew, I think it would be Colin Chandler, because I think whatever it is people think he's going to be, I think he's going to be better next year. I think it's inevitable that one of these transfers is going to disappoint a little bit. I'm not sure which one it'll be.
Starting point is 00:08:21 I have kind of my thought as to who it'll be, but I'm not going to, like, put that tag on him yet. But I think what's going to end up replacing whoever, whichever one it is, is how good I think Colin Chandler's going to be. I just, I think he is going to be significantly better than people think. And I think by, by, when we're talking next March about who's coming back, who's whatever, he might, we might look at him a little bit like the Oway piece this year of,
Starting point is 00:08:51 man, we got to get him back. I feel that good about him, Drew. Yeah, he has one of those builds that it's really a pro-type body and athleticism. I remember the blue-white game last year. He dunked on, I think it was Brandon Garrison. And even though it was the blue-white game and it's early, you weren't setting crazy expectations. But it's like, and not many people can do what he just did. I mean, 6-5, he can jump out of the gym. He made over 50% of his three-pointers in March last season. defensively, even before he found his offense, he had great games defensively.
Starting point is 00:09:23 I remember Arkansas, he put the clamps on Davis. So putting that all together and just give him a little more experience in a whole summer where he's with the team and playing ball. I think the sky's the limit for him. So just I think when you're starting to get in the basketball mindset, wherever you are, wherever you are on what's going to happen with Colin Chandler, I would say you should be a little higher about it. Who's up next?
Starting point is 00:09:48 Adam. Adam, go ahead, Adam. Hey, what's up, guys? Totally agree, Colin Chandler. It's going to be hard to keep them off the floor next year. I had a question, Matt, went to play golf with my cousin yesterday, and I've never thought about this before, but just those little annoyances that you do in everyday life
Starting point is 00:10:09 that you don't really question. Like, why are we both paying for a cart when we only have one cart? Like, what are those things in your all's life that you keep doing? and you never question. That's one of them. Had you thought about that before, Drew? Oh, I was a member somewhere in town. I won't name the place.
Starting point is 00:10:29 But me and other members would play together, and even if we'd ride on the same cart, we all had to pay the same card fee. It was the same charge, whether there was one or two people on it? It was like on that case, then give us four different carts if we're paying for it. So that's, yeah. That's a guy.
Starting point is 00:10:43 Well, I appreciate the call. That's a good question. I would have to think about that, Shannon, and of things that you just do and you don't think about, but that very much frustrate you. Oh, probably things that we go through on a daily basis that we don't even think about. I feel like most of my annoyances in life, though,
Starting point is 00:11:01 I bring up on this show. That's true. Yeah, you use this as a way to, like, grieve and it's almost like therapy. I sort of use this as a, I'm pretty frustrated with this. I'm just going to say it, you know, I did that with a certain, type of restaurant group the other day and Shannon got a little bit of pushback. A little bit. Mc Tribe.
Starting point is 00:11:26 Okay. Shannon, you're just causing trouble. You're doing it again, Shannon. You put out the video. You know, Ryan leaves and you decide you have no filter and you're just going to start saying stuff. You need to watch it.
Starting point is 00:11:42 Who's up next? You said it. Jason. I didn't say anything. Jason, go ahead, Jason. First time, long time. Who are? What's up?
Starting point is 00:11:51 I want to say, Ryan has run the movie Hoosiers for me. I watched it over the weekend, and I kept pulling for Joey Chestnut. Instead of Jimmy Chipwood. You can't look at what he does. He has completely ruined that. I understand.
Starting point is 00:12:05 Yeah, I can never watch it again. I appreciate the call. I got to say, I think, Drew, I've said this for a long time. I think Hoosiers is over. I think it's fine, but I don't, the way Ryan, and it's mostly men of that age, it's men like early 50s to 60s, the way they treat Hoosiers, like it is some kind of special thing that makes them cry. I've never understood it.
Starting point is 00:12:38 If you're just talking about things that I think are, I don't think it's bad, I think it's entertaining, but if you want to save movies that I think are slightly overrated to get way too much praise. That's one of them. That's Ryan's Holy Grail, but that's one of them. And actually, I'll go ahead and say, another one for me, no offense to you, is Forrest Gump. Oh, my goodness. Now you're being Shannon and just start in trouble today. I'm not.
Starting point is 00:13:01 I like Forrest Gump. But I think that, like, I don't understand the way people like you sort of act like it's the best movie that's ever. I like it. but I do think you're, you're Forrest Gump and his Hoosiers, I'm always like, guys, why, why so much? I was going to join you on Hoosiers. It's not even a rewatch for me.
Starting point is 00:13:23 I saw it one time and that's all I needed. I'm with you. Now, I will rewatch Forrest Gump. Thank you. I won't rewatch Hoosiers. What is there to see at this point, right? I agree. It's not in my top 10. Little Giants is a much better sports movie. I've probably seen that one 100 times.
Starting point is 00:13:40 The O'Shea. Give me the O'Shea brothers over Jimmy Chitwood seven days a week. Shannon, are you with us on Hoosiers or no? Yeah, I'm with you on Hoosiers. I can't be on board with you with Forrest Gump. I think that is one of the greatest movies of all time. So what are your top three, Shannon? You're like...
Starting point is 00:13:57 Well, go for it. That's fine. Eternal Sunshine, the Spotless Mine. Love it. Love it. First of all, that's not top three for me, but that's top 15. Yep. You're going to mock this one, but I don't care. Vanilla Sky. I love that movie. I love that movie. I love that movie. You've said that before. Remind me why you like Vanilla's guy. I just think it's a great movie. It's Tom Cruise. What is it? Tom Cruise and what was the woman's name? Penelope Cruz. Isn't it like about being in the, is it? He's like a rich guy that gets cryinized and like, I don't, you just have to watch it. It's really weird. I like weird movies, okay? So. Okay. And what's the third one? Man, third movie? I might have to go.
Starting point is 00:14:43 Forest Gump number three. I might have to go Forest Gump. It's definitely in my top five. If it's not three, it's in my top five. All right.
Starting point is 00:14:50 And so, Drew, you're Forrest Gump and what? Probably Hook. Big, big fan of Robin Williams is Peter Pan. That has to be a joke.
Starting point is 00:15:04 Hook is not your second favorite movie. Bang, Matt. Yeah. There you are, Peter. You can't make fun of Vanilla Sky. You cannot. Hook cannot be your second favorite movie.
Starting point is 00:15:14 Put some respect on. Peter Pan. Hook? Peter Banning. Run home, Jack. I mean, I can do the whole movie. All right. And what's your third one?
Starting point is 00:15:23 That's the worst call I've ever heard. What's your third one? I struggle with three. Probably Christmas vacation. Okay. All right, I'll accept that. The Jackal. Seven.
Starting point is 00:15:35 The Jackal. I got a wide range of favorite movies. What is that? It was the first DVD I ever bought. No, actually, excuse me. I said the jackal. I meant heat. I like heat and the jackal.
Starting point is 00:15:45 Oh, Well, he's a great one. Those are my first two DVDs. He would definitely be in the conversation. I'll say heat at three. Heat at three. I would go Godfather one and two. I'm going to put them together.
Starting point is 00:16:01 I would say Goodwill hunting and pulp fiction are probably mine. I forgot another Ashley Judd classic on my list. Simon Birch might be three. Simon Birch? Yeah. So two of your top four are Hook and Simon Birch? Really, if you're a movie between 94 and 98, probably owned you and watched you 30 times. Hook and Simon Birch are the two worst movies I've ever heard on.
Starting point is 00:16:28 I just thought of a better number three for me than Forrest Gump, the Big Lobowski. Good call. The Big Lobosky is absolutely. Here's something I learned this weekend, Shannon, I didn't know. Did you know the guy that John Turturo played? Did you know they made another movie about him? this rolls. And it came out, it came out the week before COVID.
Starting point is 00:16:49 So it just died. But you can watch, it's out there. Like I knew that they were going to, I didn't know that it actually got released. It got made. And it got released the week before COVID, apparently. Yeah. And no one watched it. Well, that's a shame.
Starting point is 00:17:05 Now I'm going to watch it with War of the Worlds. So you, you've never seen it. You didn't even know it was out. I knew that they were making it, but I didn't know it ever got a release. I thought it was something. Yeah, apparently it did. By the way, the NASCAR guy that fell has won six times this year. So it wasn't his first race.
Starting point is 00:17:19 He's actually 18 years old and the newest sensation on NASCAR. So he'll probably have a chance to make up for his embarrassment. B.B. and Summer's almost here. If you're ready to enjoy your favorite outdoor activities without pain or stiffness, let's say you follow up a car, go to court physical therapy. Our therapists are here to help you get moving again, no medications, no injections, no surgery. Maybe you played in an old-timers baseball game and you got hurt.
Starting point is 00:17:41 court.com, it's KORT.com. Get the physical power or physical therapy with court. Simon Birch and Hook, Drew, you have way too good a taste for those to be two of your four. Classics. We'll take a break. Be right back. KS.S. Last night, a blown call changed a game.
Starting point is 00:17:59 This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending. Opinions are flying. And nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where sports slice comes in. Starting point is 00:18:14 We go straight to the source, the athlete themselves, their locker room stories, their reactions, the stuff nobody gets to hear. And in recognition of mental health awareness month, I'm bringing over a decade of my own experience in the mental health field and conversations with so many incredible guests. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so rapidly. up in the chase, that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing, and we're still chasing it, and we don't know when we've done enough.
Starting point is 00:19:17 Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth, or are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person.
Starting point is 00:19:35 Join me, Kear Gaines, is we have real conversations about. All healing, growth, fatherhood, pressure, and purpose on my new podcast, Learn the Hardway. Open your free iHeartRadio app. Search Learn the Hardway and listen now. Life throws hurdles big and small. The question is, how do you conquer them? On Hurtle with Emily Abadi, we sit down with the most inspiring women in sports and wellness, professional athletes, coaches, and Olympic champions to talk about the challenges that shaped them
Starting point is 00:20:04 and the mindset that keeps them going. from the WMBA standout, Kate Martin and rising hockey star Layla Edwards. If a boy can do it, I don't see why a girl can't. Like, I've never understood that. Like, it didn't make sense in my brain. It's hard to be in spaces that no one looks like you, but don't ever feel like you don't feel on.
Starting point is 00:20:20 Don't let that be the reason you don't do it. An Olympic champs, Gabby Thomas and Katie Ladeki. The ability to show a gold medal to someone and have their face light up and smile, that means the world to me. And that's what motivates me to win more gold medals. this scale, like being able to fail in front of the entire world. Like, I can do anything.
Starting point is 00:20:41 I can do anything. Because resilience isn't just about winning. It's about showing up, even when it's hard. Listen to Hurtle with Emily Abadi on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHart Women's Sports. Jacob Kingston grew up in an isolated polygamous sect. We were God's chosen kingdom on earth. He felt destined for greatness.
Starting point is 00:21:08 So when a swaggering Armenian businessman catapults Jacob into an extraordinary world, he doesn't look back. Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, meeting the president of Turkey. I'm Michelle McPhee, and this is one of the most shocking criminal conspiracies I've ever come across. When Jacob met Levin this plant to a billion dollar fraud. But with two kings from entirely different worlds, Just how long can their empire survive? The largest tax investigation in American history. You need to tell me what you know.
Starting point is 00:21:42 Is somebody coming after me? Jacob told Levan, you're ruining my life. Listen to Kingdom of Fraud on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. It will never cease to amaze me or shock me, Shannon, that this is Kenny Rogers. Oh, I know. Yeah. Like, it's still, I listened to this song and watched this movie for, I only found out that this was Kenny Rogers like three years ago.
Starting point is 00:22:13 And it shocked me that Kenny Rogers produced this kind of music at the beginning of his career. You know, Tulsa Turnaround, that song I love so much with Tyler Childers. The first version was Kenny Rogers singing it like this. And the first edition of his band, like a psychedelic funk band that he was in. And then he switched from that to singing like just a few years later, Islands and the stream with Dolly Part. Yeah. Well, I guess he's so crazy.
Starting point is 00:22:39 It worked out for him, though. There, you were saying something about that UK football picture. There's AI versions of it now. I hope this one's AI. There's now people taking pictures and making AI versions. Okay, let's just hope. But then again, I thought that one was AI. I couldn't believe it was real.
Starting point is 00:22:57 You have some people, Drew, taking up for Simon Birch. As I should. Both hubby and. our friend CJ from Tyler Childers band, both say Simon Birch is great. No one is taken up for Hook, by the way. Oh,
Starting point is 00:23:11 come on. There's lots of people that like Hook. How can you not like Hook? Is Simon Burch the movie that was based on the book, Owen Meaney? Is that what it is? It's about like a little kid, right, that you could pick up.
Starting point is 00:23:24 Yeah. Yeah, Owen Meaney. Yeah, that's spoiler for Owen Meen. Spoiler. It's very sad. Ashley Judd dies in the movie. His mother. It's a very sad scene, but it's very inspiring.
Starting point is 00:23:36 Well, now I don't have to watch it because you told me. It's early in the movie when that happens. One person writes, Matt, I cannot believe you said Forrest Gump and Hoosiers are overrated. Is there any other great movie you want to bring down? I'll tell you another one I think is a little overrated, Shannon. What's that? I think this movie's really good. First time I saw it, I thought it was awesome.
Starting point is 00:23:57 But I think it's gotten way too much like glaze in the best movies of all time. Shawshank Redemption. really good entertaining but most men my aide will say it's their favorite movie and I don't get why like it's interesting it's good
Starting point is 00:24:15 but is it the best movie of all time are you a Shawshank guy not really no no but I like it but you'd be amazed how many people will say they think it's the best I don't get it it's fine but why do
Starting point is 00:24:31 just because he ends up on the island that's what makes it so great. I guess it's got a 9.3 out of 10 on IMDB is... Which is crazy hot, right? Yeah, nobody gets that. Yeah, Drew, are you, Shawshank? It's good, and I understand why it gets the credit it does. It's not really probably in my top 25.
Starting point is 00:24:51 I don't watch it a whole lot. I would even say the Green Mile is a better prison movie, but I understand why people like it. I think people, I think guys like it, because it's ultimately like a male friendship movie, right? Um, one person writes, Matt, if you don't like Hoosiers, three best movies that have sports in them. Well, if you mean sports is like a centerpiece, Caddyshack is clearly number one. Um, I mean, most sports movies are so cheesy that it's hard to like them.
Starting point is 00:25:21 I'll tell you mine. Money ball. Money ball is good one. I like, what were you going to say? I mean, maybe kind of childish, but I love the sandlot. I thought that was a great movie. Okay. No, I can see that.
Starting point is 00:25:32 That's a good childish movie for sports. I would definitely go Moneyball and Caddyshack. I might have to think of the third. What's yours, Drew? I have three. They're all football. Already named Little Giants. You're going to say,
Starting point is 00:25:44 Remember the Titans, aren't you? Remember the Titans? And Rudy. Rudy might be my number one of sports movies. You really love Rudy. You love that. Who's the Wild Man now? Yeah, I like to get my feelings when I'm watching movies,
Starting point is 00:25:57 which is why I like Hook so much. What about the rookie? Did you guys like that? The old man that made the majors? No. You didn't like that? That sounds like a Ryan movie. Yeah, that didn't think.
Starting point is 00:26:07 You're exactly right. That sounds like a Ryan movie. I think what my third would be. Varsie Blues? No, okay. I'll take Friday Night Lights. I'll take that one. Even though the TV shows better, the movie is still entertaining.
Starting point is 00:26:22 Yeah, I'll do Friday Night Lights. Who's next? Rick. Rick. Rick, go ahead, Rick. Awesome. Go ahead, Rick. Hey, guys.
Starting point is 00:26:36 I didn't get to hear the first hour. I didn't get to hear the first hour. Have you talked about War of the World yet? No. So I haven't got, to be fair, I haven't gotten to watch it. I'm going to watch it this week, but I haven't gotten to watch it. War of the World's the Ice Cube movie. By the way, it's up to 4% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Starting point is 00:26:56 It was at zero for the first. It's up to 4% now. He's getting sympathy. I tried to call in Friday to dissuade you guys from watching it. It is that bad. It looks like it was shot with cell phones. Well, I think half of it was. Is it half of it just him with doing a selfie or something?
Starting point is 00:27:20 He's doing Zoom calls with everybody. And the whole freaking world has his phone number. His kids call him. It's family calls him. The president calls him. It's ridiculous. My wife and I just were flipping around trying to find something. We watched about 20 minutes of it.
Starting point is 00:27:34 I looked at her and said, have you had enough of this? It's like, yeah, I'm done. I mean, in the first 30 minutes, there's no alien. There's no nothing. It's just him on a Zoom call with the whole world. All right. Well, I'm still going to do it because I asked everyone to do it. I asked everyone to do it, so I'm going to do it.
Starting point is 00:27:55 I appreciate the call. Did either of you get to see any of it? No, I'll watch it today. Okay. I will too. I'll have it done by tomorrow. I'd forgotten about it. By the way, UFC just announced, signed a seven-year $7.7 million deal.
Starting point is 00:28:12 All UFC fights will be on Paramount, including the pay-per-views. There will be no more pay-per-views for UFC. All fights will be available on the Paramount app, and CBS will air a handful during the year. But that means no more. UFC pay-per-view, Shannon, as a thing, is gone. Everything will just be on the Paramount app. It's kind of the same thing that the WWE is doing, right? No more pay-per-views.
Starting point is 00:28:39 It's all just these premium live events that you just get with the app. Do you think this will make UFC bigger now that, you know, like they may air a few fights on CBS. It'll be on network television. And in theory, if you wanted to, you could watch everything. Drew, does you think that's, we'll make it more exciting? So I think it's a good move. I'm an example of someone that will watch it a lot more. I was never going to give a dollar, but if it's a Saturday night and I have access to it, I'll turn it on.
Starting point is 00:29:07 I will say it's kind of sad the days of pay-per-views. I remember I had a friend named Matt Randall, and we would all throw in and go to his house for either the wrestling paper views. We had the Holy Phil Tyson. It was like a big deal to get everybody together. Everybody throw in 10 bucks and get a pay-per-view at someone's house. In Middlesbrill, you had to go down to the cable company and get a little thing that would go into your box and it would unscramble it. Do you know what I'm talking about?
Starting point is 00:29:31 Oh, yeah. My mom did it for the Judd's finale concert. It's the only time I ever saw it happen. We'll be right back. T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J. He'll make them pay. Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones.
Starting point is 00:29:48 Still think Ice Cube's life has, like, had one of the weirdest arcs of all time, Shannon. From, like, NWA rapper that, you know, people said was, ruining children and all this to like doing daddy daycare yeah yeah well you know I guess are we there yet are we I mean what and then he still tries to be a hardcore rapper and it's like dude you've done three daddy day cares yep and then you can't now all of a sudden be a hardcore rapper then we get iced tea also you know he's not doing yeah but he at least still plays like a hardcore guy that's true yeah ice cube is is strange you know like his He's just got a strange thing.
Starting point is 00:30:31 A lot of people don't like my Shawshank Redemption take. I expected that. I will say the 1995 Oscar for Best Picture. I'm going to read you the nominees. A lot of people think this is the best year they ever had for this. It's Pulp Fiction, Forrest Gump, Shawshank Redemption, Quiz Show. By the way, Drew, I love all four of those movies. I mean, I think Forrest Gump and Shawshank are a little overrated,
Starting point is 00:30:54 but I think they're all four really good movies, all right? agree. Completely agree. Do you know what the fifth one is? Does anybody know what the fifth movie to go with those top four are? Those four are considered legendary movies. She had any idea what the fifth one is that was nominated? I don't even have a guess.
Starting point is 00:31:13 You would never get this. Four weddings and a funeral. No, I would not have guessed that. That's crazy to me. Like, that movie is stupid. Yeah. And it's in there with all those legendary movies. And then it's in there with like four legendary movies and then four weddings and a funeral.
Starting point is 00:31:33 People are reminding me that boxing movies could be in it. That's true. If you have boxing, you have like Raging Bull, Rocky, Creed. So there's a lot of good choices if you throw in boxing. And then Shannon, the wrestler, to me, is one of the great movies, too, of all time. That's a great one. If you're talking about sports, one. Hoop Dreams?
Starting point is 00:31:56 The documentary. One of the best documentaries ever done. One of the original sports documentaries, too. No, Nacho Libre. You're not going to put that in there? I'm going to give you another one that I think is a little overrated. That this will also,
Starting point is 00:32:09 this goes along the same track as these others I've said. I mean, Field of Dreams, I think is overrated. You're going to get a lot of pushback from that. Ryan would be... Basically, if you were here... Basically, if you took Ryan's top ten list, I think every single one of them is overrated. Finding Nemo, Barnyard.
Starting point is 00:32:31 I never saw that. Barnyard. Never saw that either. Tell me about Stock to Mortgage before we go to the phone. Well, Ryan's not here. I know. That's going to be you this time. Oh, I don't know what to say about Stockton Mortgage.
Starting point is 00:32:42 Well, they do it. You say it's on the list. Stock to Mortgage, they're growing. Go there. They'll get you to the closing table and that's what it's all about. It's a great time to buy. Stock to Mortgage. NMLS 8259, Equal House, Lender.
Starting point is 00:32:55 I don't know how I even know that. Yeah, you have to know right. Great job. Was that the right? You're right about the NMLS. It is 8259. I've heard it so many times. I don't even have anything in front of me.
Starting point is 00:33:06 You can go to Stockton.com. Your home might be the MVP of your summer plans. And Stockton. Dot com is there. Equal housing lender, NMLS, consumer access. Dot org. NMLS 8259, Equal Housing Lender. Wow.
Starting point is 00:33:20 So weird. Like, how is that just stored up in my brain somewhere? That's, that is actually very impressive. Who's up next? Matt. Matt, go ahead, Matt. What's up, guys? What's going on?
Starting point is 00:33:33 What's up, guys? Hey, I'm sitting out my, well, I'm standing out my garden, doing a little meditation style called grounding, and out in the day shine, enjoying this beautiful day, the good Lord has given us, and I just got a couple of things to say. Go for it. All right.
Starting point is 00:33:49 First, we all got, we got to put out good vibes for this UK team, man. This upcoming football season, and we just stop saying two for 10 and four for eight. Let's call for it. You know what I mean? Put those good vibes out there. And maybe, you know, it's true. Well, I mean, I think if you listen to bluer than most or bluer than you,
Starting point is 00:34:11 maybe you can have that. By the way, no proof that exists. I've had not one person show me anything. That dude completely made that up as a way to argue. What's your next thing? Yeah. Okay. Good fellows.
Starting point is 00:34:27 Tommy boy, Wedding Crashers, Mighty Ducks. Come on, The Mighty Ducks. That's a great sports movie. All those are good. I like every single one of those movies you just said. I appreciate the call. Those are all, I think, Goodfellas, to me, is in my top ten.
Starting point is 00:34:43 So I think that's good. UK Athletics has announced, Drew, BBN United, which I don't totally understand what it is. But BBU and United is apparently an innovative loyalty and membership platform developed to get you closer to the UK athletic fan experience. They say they quote, empower student athletes and blend one of a kind of experiences to showcase the heart of Big Blue Nation. It has accessible monthly rates, insider access, exclusive content, and memorable experiences. That's a lot of words that don't really say anything to me, Drew.
Starting point is 00:35:29 What do you think this will be? A way to get more money from the fans. I hope they make it worth their while, though. But what could it be? Well, I'm wondering if they're stepping up the content game, because if they're just putting what they do now behind a paywall, they're not the best at content. Well, this is what worries me.
Starting point is 00:35:50 I mean, are they going to make it? to where the old like you know the videos they put out of like practice and all that is that just going to be you have to pay for it now do you think that's what it is i can't imagine they'll do that because then what are you putting on social media i mean you gotta have something for just everyone the fans if you just take their one minute practice clips and put it behind a paywall but i don't know what they can i mean i guess they could do meet and greets okay so i mean that's i guess that's good b b bn't the merchandise so you can get your t-shirt Do you want a BBN United shirt? Like, I guess maybe some people do. I don't know what to see. I think you've got to be very careful if you're, if you're UK. Shannon, with just asking for money at every, every source. Fans feel like they're just being nickeled and dived at every turn.
Starting point is 00:36:41 You can't just gouge them forever. Yeah. This is partially what causes some of our issues with UK. is UK has now gone into the content business. All right. So it used to be the case that you had the media outlets of which KSR is one, but there are others that were producing content. And UK was the UK sports were the entity that were being covered by the content.
Starting point is 00:37:13 If you go back to coach cowl.com, UK has tried. to basically be the content along with the people covering them. And they want to compete with these people. And that's fine, but the problem with that is you're trying to sell content to something that you also are. So, A, you're definitely not going to be objective. But you also can't be interesting. I mean, a perfect example is that conversation, Shannon, we had about that picture, or the video, right?
Starting point is 00:37:49 You can't have that if you're UK. No, no. You can't have that conversation. So they just keep trying to do this, and it has failed multiple times. CoachCal.com failed. They had a UK insider thing after that. That failed.
Starting point is 00:38:06 I'm not saying this won't, but if they just try to produce the same content that these companies like KSR that are free or have like membership community, do, it'll fail because they can't do interesting stuff, Drew, because they're the official partner. You cannot cover yourself, you know, it just doesn't work.
Starting point is 00:38:30 I agree, and you can't. I don't think you can mention recruits unless they've signed. That's been a rule forever. I think you can't imagine recruits. I mean, what percentage of KSR's website is recruiting? 30, 40 percent? Now, they can't even do that part. So then what are you even paying for?
Starting point is 00:38:48 Like, what do you pay? I don't know. Videos from practice? I mean, I guess that's it. Let's be honest. They're not good at those as it is. They'll tease an interview with someone and three months later they'll post something from spring practice.
Starting point is 00:39:00 Now, are they stepping up their game and it's going to be better behind the paywall or people just now paying for at UK football on X what they were doing? What has worked best in terms for UK athletics, in terms of putting out product. and people may think this is going to sound very selfish and it probably is to some extent but it's also true the way UK has always gotten their message out best is by using media people
Starting point is 00:39:35 to get their message out. The best thing that's happened to UK football this year is a set of interviews, KSR was one but there was others, that Shi'aj-Pee did with other entities outside of UK sports. That's what's worked. That's what they should do. If you continue to try to do the official UK stuff,
Starting point is 00:39:55 Shannon, you end up with pictures where you're holding hands and jumping up in the air. Yep. And nobody wants to see that. You do? Like, you think I would have asked them to do that? No. No. So I just, like, this is nice.
Starting point is 00:40:08 I guess this is a way they think they're going to raise money. But do I think that's successful? I don't know how it can be because they're not willing. The only way it could be successful is if you like live stream. to every practice, which they're never going to do because that would give other teams access to the... So I just... They announce one of these every few years, and they never work, but they just keep doing it. And, you know, I guess at some point, they think it might.

If a boy can do it, I don't see why a girl can't. Like, I've never understood that. Like, it didn't make sense in my brain. It's hard to be in spaces that no one looks like you,
Starting point is 00:43:00 but don't ever feel like you don't belong. Don't let that be the reason you don't do it. An Olympic champs Gabby Thomas and Katie Ladecki. The ability to show a gold medal to someone and have their face light up and smile, that means the world to me. And that's what motivates me to win more gold medals. at our level at this scale, like being able to fail in front of the entire world. Like, I can do anything.
Starting point is 00:43:23 I can do anything.
Starting point is 00:43:50 So when a swaggering Armenian businessman catapults Jacob into an extraordinary world, he doesn't look back. Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, meeting the president of Turkey. I'm Michelle McPhee, and this is one of the most shocking criminal conspiracies I've ever come across. When Jacob met Levant, this went to a billion-dollar fraud. But with two kings from entirely different worlds, Just how long can their empire survive? The largest tax investigation in American history. You need to tell me what you know.

Welcome back, Tughey Sports Radio. 859-2802287. One person writes, Matt, if they take the journey videos, put them behind a paywall, I'm done with UK sports. They better not do that. They're so good
Starting point is 00:44:53 at those. That is something they're awesome at. They are really good at that. Don't do that. Like if you start making the thing that you do that is your best way of promoting the product, if you start making that
Starting point is 00:45:09 inaccessible to people, it's just a bad decision. I hope they don't do that. We'll see We'll see what they end up deciding. Draft Kings. You go to Draft Kings, bet $5, $200 at Draft Kings. Use my promo code KSR.
Starting point is 00:45:27 Football season's coming. Let's do a pick for tonight, however. Draft Kings, the Crown is yours. If you have a game, problem, call 1-800 Gambler. 867, 754-3T8 at Kentucky or gambler.org. Phillies and Reds tonight. I have one request for the Reds. We got to move Austin Hayes down the lineup.
Starting point is 00:45:47 he took some of the worst at bats I've ever seen yesterday he swung at pitches Shannon that almost went in the dugout yeah some really bad pitches I saw he got a big hit at the end but he had three strikeouts that were three of the worst strikeouts I've ever seen I was sitting right behind the whole plate and I'm like dude I wouldn't have even swung at that so move him down move Marte up but Andrew Abbott pitching for the Reds who you got tonight Shannon I'll go with your Reds I think they're turning the corner. I think that they
Starting point is 00:46:18 I'm going to say the Reds make the playoffs. I'm going to say they make it. I'm not ready to do that, you know. Although 100 Greens coming back Wednesday night. So I'm going to take the Reds tonight. I'm worried about the rest of the series, though, because this is, well, we need to win at least three of these six games at home,
Starting point is 00:46:37 and I worry we won't. But I'm going to take the Reds tonight. What about you, Drew? I'm also going with the Reds. You got a little momentum, winning the last two in Pittsburgh. You can see the wildcard spot right in front of you, and I hate the Phillies, so the Reds win tonight. Yeah, boy, it would be nice to.
Starting point is 00:46:52 I mean, if we made the play. Although, of course, if we make playoffs, I'm in South Africa, so I won't. See, that's what's going to happen right there. We're going to make the playoffs the one year you can't go to the playoffs. I know. It's going to be terrible. Who's up next?
Starting point is 00:47:06 Retired ref. Retired ref. Go ahead. Matt, I got on the website, and I saw Kentucky. I'm talking about football. their schedule, and I'm seeing a possibility of five losses in a row. What do you think? Oh, I mean, yeah, for sure.
Starting point is 00:47:29 They certainly have a possibility. I mean, they got, look, you can make a strong argument that after the Eastern Michigan game, they could have seven losses in a row, right? I mean, the next easy game is Tennessee Tech. So you, I mean, you're going to, let's put it like this. We are going to be the underdog. Chances are very high. We're going to be the underdog in nine of our 12 games.
Starting point is 00:47:57 So when you're sitting there saying, are you going to be favored, or excuse me, are you going to lose? If you just go by the spreads, then yes. But I think I'm with Drew. I think they'll win, let's say one or two of those. But no, it wouldn't be crazy to lose five in a row. You've been talking about movies. I'm curious of what you would rate or if you've seen the Russell Crow Robin Hood movie. I've watched it too many times.
Starting point is 00:48:30 Russell Crow, what's it called? Robin Hood. It's just called Robin Hood? Yes, Robin Hood with Kate Blanchard. I don't think, I don't know if I've seen that. I appreciate the call. I've seen Robin Hood Men in Tights, the comedy, and that's pretty funny. Also on my list.
Starting point is 00:48:45 you like that one and the kevin costner version both better than russell crow what's the kevin costner's versions called is that the one with uh rod robert robert prince of thieves just to give me that one that had the trio rod stewart brad adams and stings sing that song together if it's love you make that song i think it is i think that's the one right adams i think i told you one time in my high school for a pep rally three dudes in my high school three dudes in my high school got up and sang that together. It did not go well. For a Middlesbrough High School football pep rally? Yeah. They sang that Robin Hood. So I'm telling you, go listen to it and think of how bad
Starting point is 00:49:27 that would have gone in Middlesboro, Kentucky in like 1994. It did not go well. It still makes me cringe to think about. What's next? John. John, go ahead, John. Hey, guys, real quick on the movies, a prison and sports movie together. The original longest yard with Bert Reynolds. I never seen the original. I saw the remake. I never saw the original, but I've heard it's good. It's really good.
Starting point is 00:49:55 Three other movies. Two are wartime prison movies. The Way Back and the Boy in the Stripe Pajamas. But a movie that I think people need to see just to have them think is law-bodied citizen, Gerard Butler
Starting point is 00:50:11 and Jamie Fox. Great movie. Last thinker. I need to make a Before we hang up, I give Drew my phone number so he can call me about it, CYPB. All right, give it to Shannon. We tried this last time and you hung up. I got to hang out. All right, I appreciate the call. What is CYPB?
Starting point is 00:50:32 It's the Weller collection I'm trying to. Oh, the Weller. Okay, you got to hang on when you do that. Who's up next? All right. Let's go to Terry. Terry. Go ahead, Terry.
Starting point is 00:50:42 Hey, guys, a football question, and then a drive safe, Kentucky. observation. In the football, where does Wilcox, where is he in the running back mix? They keep saying that the Dattle guy and the other guy are the one, two, and they didn't playing the scrimmage, and Patterson got most of the carries. Where's Wilcox fit in? I think everybody acknowledges that he and that he's like probably, probably third at best or fourth.
Starting point is 00:51:11 He is behind both transfers, and he may be behind Patterson. as well. I think he is. He's down to four. From the leading rusher a year ago to running back four. Okay. And as far as I think we all embraced buckle up, phone down, do you think
Starting point is 00:51:28 back seat? Check the back seat. Is that going to is they going to be good? You know, I don't love it, but it does work. I appreciate the call. I mean, I do find myself, I do hear in my head, check the back seat. I do hear that. By the way, I
Starting point is 00:51:45 Shannon don't hear the Lexington feed ever, but I was driving around Lexington listening to 985 Hanks hits or something. And Ryan is every commercial. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. I mean, he is on every commercial. That's a country station and he's on every commercial. And I was shocked how many commercials he's on. Like, how many ads does he do?
Starting point is 00:52:09 I don't know. I know it's good money. Apparently. You know he won't say no to anything. He doesn't turn anything down. Well, you can tell when you listen to a Lexington Music Station. He is advertising everything you can imagine. And he has no, like, shame.
Starting point is 00:52:30 Like, if it's an embarrassing thing that happens to males starting at 50, Ryan is advertising it. Well, he's in that demo. You got to give him credit for it. All right, so the dinner is on sale. I think we only have a handful of tickets left. I'm going to tweet it out at like 1230, so you've got basically 33 minutes to get it before I put it out to the masses. Thank you all very much for listening.
Starting point is 00:52:53 We appreciate it. Have a wonderful day. I'm going to be in the car driving back, and those of you that are at Snoop tonight at the Reds game, let's get a victory in the DODG. Yeah, check your back seat. This has been KSR.
