Starting point is 00:00:00 Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter.

Stockton Mortgage, NMLS 8259 Equal Housing Lender, NMLS Consumer Access.org. Welcome to Hour 2 of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones. Welcome back. Hour number two, Kentucky Sports Radio, 859-2802287. Text machine is 772-774-5524. It's very interesting to me looking at Cominstreet.
Starting point is 00:03:26 The text machine is infinitely not. nicer in its comments than Twitter, which makes me think, do you think Twitter attracts the meanest people on Earth? Mario's shaking his head. Yes. And it's gotten much worse. I'm not on it nearly as much as I used to be. Like the text machine is anonymous. I do have your phone number, I guess. But it's anonymous. But people say the nicest things. Their critiques are not mean spirited. They're usually in the benefit of like just offering an other argument. And I get hundreds of them a day. And I don't, you know, I read the vast majority. I'm not going to say I always see every one of them, but I read the majority. And I, they are actually a, a very affirming thing and
Starting point is 00:04:16 interesting. And then Twitter, Twitter, I think, like brings out the worst of humanity. You can take a person that's a pretty good person. Put them on Twitter. And they'll, be calling people just terrible names. And then if I respond and say something nice, they'll usually go, oh, man, you know, I was just kidding.
Starting point is 00:04:38 Like, it's just Twitter. Like a sport. Yeah. It's like, but you're still a human. Yeah. And like I,
Starting point is 00:04:46 and there's another human on the receiving end of it. Facebook is bad, but it's mostly just old people who don't know how to do anything else on the computer. And so they're just like, other people can see it. Yeah. I mean,
Starting point is 00:04:58 like I don't. Facebook, I really now only get on to do the bond that bridge and look at it. And like those people are really nice. And by the way, if you listen to this show and you're on Facebook, you should follow the bond that bridge page. Like it's a good collection of KSR fans, the ladies of KSR page. There's a men of KSR page, which I think is nice to do. But like, you know, just be careful using that account. Sometimes, yeah, just, you know.
Starting point is 00:05:26 It's an unofficial. It's unaffical. Yeah, that is not, that's not official. But then you just get on regular Facebook and people are just like, Sarah over at the Mexican restaurant, looked at me funny. Like people are just very upset. I guess they got, it's a great impersonation of someone being mad at Sarah at their local Mexican restaurant. Well, I mean, small town, Facebook is great.
Starting point is 00:05:53 Oh, yeah. Because the things that, like, like I saw, I guess, In Richmond, Madison Central High School did their senior prank. And I guess they went to Meyer and bought all the eggs in the store and then went and just threw them in the parking lot. That's an expensive prank. Well, first of all, it's not really a prank. It's just destruction. It's just a mess.
Starting point is 00:06:24 A prank is like when you did what I did in college where we locked. our fraternity in the fraternity room and left town. That's good. That's a prank. That's just what? There's a little bit of fire issues there. Well, we didn't think of that at the time. It was quite a prank, by the way.
Starting point is 00:06:44 You had to put one on, Shannon. I think I've told this before. The actives made the pledges put a prank. You had to. They, like, judged you on whether or not you did it. So, like, I don't do things half, you know. I planned the whole thing. You're the mastermind behind the entire prank.
Starting point is 00:07:02 Oh, this was an ocean. We got a boy. We found him. I planned it. We took Shannon. We had some people that were, you know, inclined to do handyman stuff. They took handcuffs and a chain, locked the two doors together. They had to measure it.
Starting point is 00:07:19 Right? Very calculated. Yes. We made the windows to where, like, they were covered so they couldn't see us. going. We got grasshopper and mice and let it out on the chapter hall and crickets. What are you laughing at?
Starting point is 00:07:37 This is very elaborate. Daniel Ocean over here. We built a concrete wall to where they couldn't walk into the dorm hall. Oh, goodness. And then we left. Where'd you go? You were supposed to go away for 24 hours. The point was to like bond on the 24 hours. And then they had to come find you, but they didn't find us. And then they were really mad about it. And I'm like, you made us do this. I didn't do it out of spite. You brought it all yourself. You told us to do
Starting point is 00:08:07 this. I didn't know you're such a bad boy in your youth. In hindsight, the fire hazard was something I didn't really think about it. Yeah. A few I'd like take back. Yeah. I would never like still a street sign or something. I did that too. Well, I was going to say if you were, you do have to. You do have to past. You have to be careful, like stop signs. You know, you don't want to, like, they need to be harmless signs. I'm not encouraging that behavior. Let me be clear.
Starting point is 00:08:31 So when I was at Governor's Scholar in Danville at Center College, a street sign had fallen. Oh, okay. Yeah, with that wrench in your hand. And Tall and I decided to bring it back to the. You were just cleaning up. You could, that's one way to look at it. Yeah. The people at government scholars didn't see it like that.
Starting point is 00:08:51 Tall and I had to go along with two other guys and apologize to the Danville City Council. They stood us up there for public shaming. Just for trying to clean up the environment. And the newspaper did a story about it. They were like local or like, you know, out of town teens apologize for vagrancy. Corey Price, get on it. Find that article. It's on there.
Starting point is 00:09:13 If you look at it, there's a picture of me and Tall and these two other guys, pre-to me-to. That was his name. I don't remember the other guy's name. And we had to apologize to the Danville City County. Did you all have like a bad nickname like the Governor's Scholar 4 or anything like that? Just go around terrorizing towns. The nerd words. Yeah, that was that was that.
Starting point is 00:09:36 So yeah, you know, that's the vagrancy. Yeah, I'd never would have done anything like that. New study says Lexington, Kentucky's morning commute is one of the three deadliest in America. there are more wrecks per capita during the Lexington Kentucky morning commute than all but two cities in the
Starting point is 00:10:00 United States. Only Baltimore and San Jose California have more per capita wrecks in the morning than Lexington. I think I'm on this route. Winchester Road. I think we're a big part of it. We have one spot in it
Starting point is 00:10:18 I don't think it's been fatal, but you're coming off a new circle onto Winchester Road and it feels like there should be a merge lane and there's not just the other day I met the red light just hear a loud bang I even have to look as just like another one there was another wreck in that one spot
Starting point is 00:10:32 where they're there daily. It is. When it comes to like no lights. Buckle up, put your phone down. No law. No street signs. It's like come on Winchester Road on your own risk and good luck, sir.
Starting point is 00:10:47 In front of my neighborhood when I'm turning on to Winchester Road I get a green. I have to wait a couple seconds because someone will just barrel through a red. I don't mean it was yellow and you're trying to beat it. It could be red for five seconds. I don't know if they don't see it. They don't care.
Starting point is 00:10:59 But they'll cut you in half if you're not paying attention. Leastown Road, I think, has decided to just go down to a half lane. There was a time it felt like there were six lanes. They claim to be expanding, but now when I drive through, it's basically a ferry. I haven't lived over there in a while. Where's the ferry? To get from one. side and new circle to the other.
Starting point is 00:11:22 There's no lanes left anymore. We're running out of roads. So you think that's probably correct about Lexington's morning commute? Probably. I mean, we have a mess. I just named my part of town. I mean, there's others, as you said. I mean, Newtown Pike, you name it.
Starting point is 00:11:38 There's parts of Lexington all over that are horrible with traffic and dangerous. Let me give one more also a shout out to all my gilded age posse out there. Are they growing? Oh, my goodness. Yeah. A lot more coming out. The amount of people that write me now and say either that they liked the Gilded Age before or that they've started watching it.
Starting point is 00:11:57 There's a lot of wives here who've been trying to convince their husbands to do it and they use me talking about it as the excuse to do it. The amount of Gilded Age love that is growing. They had the season finale Sunday. It was one of the highest rated, it was the highest rated in the show's history. They renewed it for a season four. I'm halfway through season two, so I'm still working. and through Bertha's trying to get her box at the Metro pot at the opera and I don't know how
Starting point is 00:12:24 that's going to play out so no spoilers like Shannon I we just got to spoil a little bit we're still on season one episode one you should get some money from from all these people you're watching you're the first person I've ever heard talk about this I didn't even know it existed until you talked about it I didn't know it just kept popping up on my HBO and finally I was like why not and it here's why it's great it's not about anything important Right. It's just history, right? Yeah, but it's also just about like she wants to throw a ball, will people come? Like social things.
Starting point is 00:12:57 Yeah, it doesn't matter. And in a world where everything's so serious, I think I just like it. And I have a soft spot for old women that make snide comments about each other. I really enjoy that. I think it goes back to my Aunt Francis and Aunt Boots, Morgan Wallen's grandma. So you were a big thing of the golden girls then. Kind of. They used to sit there and smoke and just be like, Sheila thinks she's pretty today, but she ain't. And I would just as a kid just think that was the,
Starting point is 00:13:30 just some of the old women being snide and mean. Gossiping about each other. Yeah, and they were all like, you know, they were, it was all like, I heard she was at the coffee shop staring at free. I just thought that stuff was great. This is a whole show of that. It's on my watch list. I need to catch up.
Starting point is 00:13:51 I really do want to watch it. I promise you you'll like it. Let's go to Reed. What's up, Reed? Good morning, guys. Longtime listener. I'm a Western Detective Grant and I signed up for my sports classic tickets yesterday. Is that the U.K. St. John's?
Starting point is 00:14:10 Is that U.K. St. John's? Mr. Reed, it sure is. We'll be standing at the Western District Plaza, Atlanta. Yeah, I think that's going to be a lot of fun. I think you're going to see the debut. of the denim uniforms at that game. I think you're going to see, I think the UK St. John's game is going to just have like, I think you're going to see a ton of former Patino era players at that game.
Starting point is 00:14:35 UK alumni group in Atlanta is probably the best UK alumni group along with New York in the country and they'll have it rocking. I think that's going to be an awesome, awesome game. So I think you made the right decision. It was like 2376. We live in Opa Lica anyway, so it's not a very long drive to Atlanta. Well, I appreciate the call. We're going to be there.
Starting point is 00:15:04 I think, I mean, normally that last game before Christmas is not a game that I think is great to go on the road for. But this year it's going to be different. Being in Atlanta, Rick and saying, and, you know, they could be, you look at their schedule, they could be one or two in the country coming into that game. I just think it's going to be awesome. I think that has the potential to be the environment of the year for Kentucky basketball. Completely agree. I was there a couple of years ago in Atlanta for the CBS Classic, the Notre Dame, North Carolina game.
Starting point is 00:15:36 That was real close. Dillingham, Shepard, that bunch. And that arena was one of the best I've seen in any of these events we do, Champions Classic. That was CBS. Any of these one-off games, that place was on fire. I think there's a hunger from the people that used to go to the SEC tournament there, even though Nashville's better. We had that long connection with Atlanta,
Starting point is 00:15:52 and I think it would be crazy again this December with Rick. Yeah, if I was sitting at home and I was going, okay, I want to go to one, I want to take one UK basketball trip this year. There's no doubt I would pick that. I just think, you know, they go to New York. I love playing in New York.
Starting point is 00:16:08 I'm going to try to go to that game. That's the, is that the CBS Classic game against, who do we play this year? We play Ohio State? No, we played them last year. Is it North Carolina? No, it is St. John. Sorry.
Starting point is 00:16:22 Yeah, they replaced UCLA. That's the CBS. We got Nashville and Gonzaga is the other one that if you were considering. But New York is Michigan State Champions Classic. Yeah, so there's a lot of good choice. Actually, they're all good choices this year, but I think the Atlanta one, I'm just excited about it. I think it's going to be fun playing against Rick.
Starting point is 00:16:40 I do. I think he gets applause? He will. He will. Also, their star player is going to be Bryce Hopkins. I know it's not quite the reunion of a Rick Petino reunion. but just another angle of that game that makes it probably the best on the schedule. Drew, tell me about Stockton Mortgage.
Starting point is 00:16:56 They're growing. They have locations all over Kentucky. They're growing so fast. I can't even tell you how many of Kentucky. Whatever Ryan said last time, there's probably more. Check them out. Stockton Mortgage.com for all your home loan needs. It's a great time to buy.
Starting point is 00:17:11 Yeah, it's a great time to buy. Ryan's in Hilton Head. He'll be back tomorrow. Call him. What if I want to move forward on a house with clarity and confidence? Where would I go? I mean, A, you're having the right attitude. Very important when you're shopping for a home, but make sure you trust Stockton Mortgage
Starting point is 00:17:25 with that home buying process. Does every loan fit neatly into a box? No, they absolutely don't. They will find the one that fits perfectly into your box at Stockton Mortgage.com, NMLS 2,3. I need the numbers, Shannon. You got it yesterday. NLS 8259 equal housing. Where will it fit?

On Hurtle with Emily Abadi, we sit down with the most inspiring women in sports and wellness, professional athletes, coaches, and Olympic champions to talk about the challenges that shaped them and the mindset that can't.
Starting point is 00:20:11 keeps them going. From the WMBA standout Kate Martin and rising hockey star Layla Edwards. If a boy can do it, I don't see why a girl can't. Like, I've never understood that. Like, it didn't make sense in my brain. It's hard to be in spaces that no one looks like you, but don't ever feel like you don't belong. Don't let that be the reason you don't do it. An Olympic champs, Gabby Thomas, and Katie Ladeke. The ability to show a gold medal to someone and have their face light up and smile, that means the world to me. And that's what motivates me to win more gold medals.
Starting point is 00:20:41 At our level, at this scale, like being able to fail in front of the entire world. Like, I can do anything. I can do anything. Because resilience isn't just about winning. It's about showing up, even when it's hard. Listen to Hurtle with Emily Abadi on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports. Jacob Kingston grew up in an isolated polygamous sect.
Starting point is 00:21:08 We were God's chosen kingdom on earth. He felt destined for greatness. So when a swaggering Armenian businessman catapults Jacob into an extraordinary world, he doesn't look back. Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, meeting the president of Turkey. I'm Michelle McPhee, and this is one of the most shocking criminal conspiracies I've ever come across. When Jacob met Levant this went to a billion-dollar fraud. But with two kings from entirely different worlds, Just how long can their empire survive?
Starting point is 00:21:43 The largest tax investigation in American history. You need to tell me what you know. Is somebody coming after me? Jacob told Levan, you're ruining my life. Listen to Kingdom of Fraud on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Welcome back, Tucky Sports Radio. 85928027. A couple open lines.
Starting point is 00:22:10 It's technically an ask anything Wednesday, although I don't think I said that. So we'll probably do that tomorrow as well. But a couple open lines. Give a shout. 859-280-2-807. Let me give an example of the kind of thing I like on Facebook. This is from someone, I'm not going to say the name of the restaurant or else you'll know the town. Okay.
Starting point is 00:22:30 But it just, this is from someone on my Facebook. I just got a message to someone and they will know who it is, but I'm not saying their name. If you think your husband is cheating on you, he is. just go to and then she mentions the restaurant on any Wednesday night and look what he's doing. You'll thank me later. See, that's why I like Facebook. It's good entertainment. There used to be, and it was, it got a little out of hand.
Starting point is 00:22:58 It got deleted, but like topics in a small town. Remember, I would recap them on KSR. I'd pick a town and just do the top five topics. It's kind of like speak your piece and text form. Yeah. Yeah. Well, I mean, first of all, when I was growing up, I don't know about. you all. I didn't know how many people cheated on each other. But one trip to topics and you realize
Starting point is 00:23:21 all, you know, all of Lincoln County is cheating with each other. It's just a matter of like where you got to go to catch them. Just calling people out with first names. Like, we don't know any of the parties involved. Yeah. It's just, you know, just reading the chaos. Yeah. And Lincoln, in Lincoln County, they'd go to Garrett County to cheat. But all you got to do is this across the state county line and you'll see it. That's what I like. The UK basketball schedule is now completely out,
Starting point is 00:23:52 including the non-conference. Are you excited? They announced the UK, the final thing for the UK, what's it called? BBM United, which ties in. So we're naming it after that new thing. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:05 Okay. So it's like Nichols State, Valpo. Eastern Illinois. Eastern Illinois. Hopefully we'll be able to retain our BBNU-9. They changed the name of that every year, don't they? So last year, I kind of, in mocking it, was really playing up the BBN Invitational. I mean, I was really into it. Even asked the players about it after the game and they were like, what is this guy talking about? But KSR went all in on the BBN Invitational. We won it. I'm surprised they didn't cut the nets, but whatever. This year, the BBN United Tip-Off Classic presented by Kentucky Tourism is staying in Lexington. How many things have they named it over the years? I think it's different every year. It's been Adolf Rup.
Starting point is 00:24:43 It's Bill Kightly. Maybe even a Joe B. There was a Joe B. There's been, and it was last year just the BBN Invitational. This year's a little bigger because we're going to unite BBN. I'm a little worried about getting distracted because there's three games in the BBN United Tipoff Classic presented by Kentucky Tourism. But after two of them is the Louisville game and then you have the BBN United
Starting point is 00:25:05 Tipoff Classic presented by Kentucky Tourism later. You might get distracted for the final. against Eastern Illinois by Louisville. I hate that you sandwich that. You almost have to pick. Do I want to win the Louisville game? Or do I want to win the BBN United TIP off Classic presented by Kentucky Tourism? And at that point in the season, you're still figuring things out.
Starting point is 00:25:22 And I worry it's too much on their plate in the first two weeks of November. Let's play a game. What state is Nichols State in? Man. Because as my grandfather would say, ain't no State Nichols. What state is Nichols State in? Blind guess, couldn't even tell you a part of the country, I will say Pennsylvania. All right. Shannon, what state is Nichols State in?
Starting point is 00:25:46 Nebraska. Nebraska. Just to think about your mindset, was that just because it starts with an end? It was because it starts of it in. I knew that's what you were going to do. I couldn't say New York or New Jersey. Well, it's like when people, I would say I went to Transylvania and people go, is that in Pennsylvania? And I'd say you just think because it ends in Slovenia, it's in the same thing. No, it is in Louisiana. That's my second guess.
Starting point is 00:26:10 Tibado, Louisiana. So that is who we'll play for. It is known for, they have one of the best programs in America at Geomatics. Which begs the question. What is Geomatics? So much to learn here.
Starting point is 00:26:27 A lot to unpack. Do we know what Geomatics is? What is their logo? I know nothing about Nichols. Geomatics is the science and technology of acquiring and managing spatial information about the earth's surface. Okay. So when they come here, they might be distracted by going outside and analyzing our soil.
Starting point is 00:26:49 The limestone's going to blow their mind. Drew can check on it on the post game. They'll be out there. Yeah, I'll be out there on the soil on the post. They'll be out there with me. In the new Gatton Park. Ooh, Gatton Park. That might be a new spot for everything.
Starting point is 00:27:01 They'll be in the uniform just digging in the soil and going, wow, the composition of This is truly amazing. Freebird, go ahead, Freebird. Hey, guys, just up here working in Augusta on my birthday, enjoyed the remote on Friday. And I've got a question for all of you all of you. I was listening earlier this morning to Tom Leach's show, which old shit and a dude produced, I would imagine.
Starting point is 00:27:25 He said there was a guy back when Kentucky played in the Great Alaska shootout that didn't like the drive, or excuse me, fly. He drove from Pikeville, Kentucky all the way to Anchorage. So whatever you guys are passionate about, whether it's Kentucky baseball, concerts, whatever, how far would you all drive? And I think a couple of y'all would not even drive hardly that far. Any distance. I've driven, I'm not, I mean, truck drivers have driven more than me.
Starting point is 00:27:57 But I would venture to say no radio host in America except maybe Charles Corralt has driven more than I have. So the answer to your question is I would drive anywhere. Would I drive to Anchorage? Yes. I just, without question matter of fact, I'd like to. I think it would be fun. Don't give them any ideas. So, yeah, I appreciate the call.
Starting point is 00:28:19 I would drive. I've driven anywhere you can go that's safe. I've driven there. We're not a year removed from driving to Seattle. Yeah, we drove to Seattle. It's about as far as you can go from here. Yeah. So I appreciate the call.
Starting point is 00:28:33 I know you all hate. it. I drove from Newfoundland all the way to Vancouver, all in Canada. So I love to drive. I don't hate it. I just like to make fun of you. I enjoy it.
Starting point is 00:28:49 Kevin, go ahead, Kevin. Hey, I got to ask anything question. But first, if you don't think anyone's cheating in Louisville, just walk air cord park one time. It'll change your mind. Oh, is that the cheating park? I think all public parks.
Starting point is 00:29:05 just the one I use. But I mean, if you take, if it's 100 degrees out, you're sitting on a patio table, and there's still two different cars that's sitting 100 degree weather at a distance. You know what it is. Yeah, as soon as I lift my phone towards. Give your question real quick, because we only have 30 seconds. It'll cut me off. The 19292 dream team, they were so dominant.
Starting point is 00:29:25 But do you think they still would have won the gold medal if Chuck Daly only could play four players at any given time? That's an interesting question. No. But that's a, I like that. They'd win a few. They'd win, but they wouldn't win them all. T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney.
Starting point is 00:29:43 Call T.J. He'll make them pay. Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. Welcome back, Kentucky Sports Radio. This segment is sponsored by Noce Linda Farms. Guess what? They're now the official beef provider of KS Bar. When you come back on August 26th, we now have smashed burgers. You know, that's the, we've got them.
Starting point is 00:30:03 They're really good. them out. We tried like six different kinds of meat and we decided to go with Nocee Linda. We thought it was the best. That's not just that. Not just because of this. Literally, we blind tasted them and I think five of the six of us blind tasted pick Noce Linda. I think the sixth had it second. So we were like, let's go for it. You can get it at home. Nochalinda Farms.com. You can get delivered to you. It quickly makes the, it's the best meat, beef you could have in the area. It's what we're going to be using at KS Bar. You can come try it at KS Bar or order at Nochaylinda Farms.
Starting point is 00:30:41 A Kentucky company at Nochaylinda Farms. Literally, when they said they wanted to do it, I was like, I'd love to pick them, but it's got to be like the best one of the group. And then we do the thing. We have six people, six different entities, and Noce Linda Farms wins. Blind taste test.
Starting point is 00:30:56 It was pretty awesome. Steve knows what he's doing. The new burgers are going to, is, our burgers were kind of, sometimes they were good, sometimes they weren't these. It's going to be consistently good. Yeah, I mean, that's the big Ope thing about when we reopen.
Starting point is 00:31:10 I'll talk more about this another time. But we just needed to be more consistent, sort of like Ryan Lemon. That's right. And this. And we, something, a couple items just need to be better. And that's what we did. Corey Price found that article. Of course he did.
Starting point is 00:31:25 I mean, impressive work. Are you surprised? But it doesn't even have my name in it and he found it. That's good. They had to protect these juveniles. That is amazing. So here, I'll give you just a quick thing of the story. A group of governor scholars came to Tuesday's meeting of the Danville City Commission to say they enjoyed their five weeks in Danville.
Starting point is 00:31:40 A spokesman for the nine young men, Shannon, that was me. Yeah. Said they had, quote, done something out of bounds. It makes it sound a lot worse. I said you have done something out of bounds? It makes it sound a lot more scandalous than it was. Did I really get up there and go, we did something out of bounds? Interesting choice of words.
Starting point is 00:32:02 what the out-of-bounds activity was was never revealed. Oh, wow, that makes it even worse. I cannot believe Corey found this. The nine young men are studying the governor's scholar program in Center. As a way to make amends, they got up their nerve and asked Mayor John W.D. Bowling to declare a governor's scholars day. That was pretty bold of us. You're in trouble, and then you want your own day? Yeah, like, how does that even work?
Starting point is 00:32:30 We're coming in and taking over the whole town? That's right. We committed vagrancy and then I was like, name us a day. Celebrate us. Came in and played guilty and said, now, name the day after us. And he did. They also learned more about the city, visited the fire station. I didn't remember that.
Starting point is 00:32:49 We visited the fire station. The teenagers who will be high school seniors this fall were presented a plaque. I do remember this. The students had to put up with some kidding from one of the commissioners. Commissioner Bunny Davis. His name was Bunny. He got up and said he said eight of the nine young men
Starting point is 00:33:08 were athletes. I think I was one of the eight. Eight of the nine were athletes. I think I know the one. I'm plates. I think it was pre-to-me, too. That was not the athlete. And Bunny said, too many athletes
Starting point is 00:33:24 graduate, oh, Lordy instead of magna cum laude. Oh, wow. What a line by Bunny. Oh, Lordy. Buddy had jokes. So yeah. I can't believe you found that, Corey. That's pretty amazing. It says that they urged you to vote and be interested in your community. Did you walk
Starting point is 00:33:46 away interested in your own community? I do vote. And I am interested in my community. Look at that. Lesson learned. Lesson learned. I want to play something real quick here. This is one of the all-time your brother completely destroys you unintentionally moments. You remember Michael Porter that played at Missouri? I do. His brother is what?
Starting point is 00:34:08 Jontay. Jontay may be going to prison for gambling on basketball. He's been kicked out of the league. Now, Shannon, that's bad enough. Yeah. Right? Yeah. Michael Porter does an interview
Starting point is 00:34:24 and I think found a way to make it worse for his brother. Let's go ahead and play. Everybody has different things that they struggle with. They can go from people that struggle with alcohol, people that struggle with drugs. You know, my brother, for example, struggle with gambling. My vice has always come in a form of women.
Starting point is 00:34:46 And when I'm far from God and like I'm not in my word, I'm not praying, I'm not prioritizing him. Like, that seems to be the place that the devil gets me is in the space of women. And I know that's a lot of people in my shoes, you know? I know it's a lot of people in my lifestyle or whatever. That's something that comes up a lot. But I've never viewed that as okay.
Starting point is 00:35:13 I don't think objectifying women. I don't think being with women all the time and sleeping around and doing stuff like that is cool. And I haven't necessarily been doing that. But nevertheless, like women has always been my vice, right? I got two younger brothers that are married. I got two of the sisters that are married. I'm the only one that's not married. And I feel like God kind of gives you what you're prepared to handle.
Starting point is 00:35:38 And so far in my life, like a good woman, like I don't think I'm ready to handle that because I'm all over the place. Sometimes I'm good and sometimes I'm not. You know what I mean? And I feel like this cycle of being good with God and bad with God has poured over into me not being able to really lock in and be living the Christian walk in that area of my life. My brother, Jontay, he never seemed to struggle with that vice. I never struggled with the gambling addiction. I never struggled with that vice. Guy gave me a lot of money because maybe he figured I could handle it.
Starting point is 00:36:21 and not, you know, lose myself in that area. And maybe John T. First of all, what, you know, when Michael Porter was in college, he was known as being, like, insanely arrogant, right? His teammates didn't get along with it. A lot of those comments are great. Like, he basically's like, yeah, I just, I get too many women. He doesn't womanize.
Starting point is 00:36:43 He does, I don't womanize, but like, I can't keep up with all these women. What am I supposed to do? I'm only human. I mean, what do you want to do? have all this money. Like, what do you want me to do? I just can't. There's just too many women. What do you want me to do? My brother, he doesn't have to worry about that. I mean, it's just like, it's like my brother. It was never an issue for him. Well, it's not going to be an issue for him moving forward. I just, Shannon, do you not think that's a crazy thing to come on there and say?
Starting point is 00:37:14 Didn't he say his brother is, though, married? So I guess he's not sleeping around with other women. I didn't take it really as a big slight against his brother, like everybody. What did you take it as? Well, he's a one woman man. He's not sleeping around. He doesn't have to have that addiction. But don't you think it was a little arrogant to come on there and be like, I just got too many women. Well, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:33 Well, yeah, it was. That part of it was arrogant. Yeah. Yes. I didn't think he was throwing his brother. I mean, and like, God blessed me with money. Yeah. And he also said God blessed him with money.
Starting point is 00:37:42 And he was like, my brother can't handle it. Yeah, God gave it to me. God gave the money to me because I know how to handle it. He just gave me a few too many women. He made me. too good looking. That was the problem. I believe he has significant interest in women
Starting point is 00:37:58 because when he was on his Kentucky visit a clip went viral, cameras caught him where he's pointing someone out and he says, look at that batty when he's on the bench and everybody was trying to wonder who was pointing at in the crowd. Yeah, that was a famous when he was here, that was like a campus thing. He pointed
Starting point is 00:38:14 at someone in the crowd and like all the people were trying to figure out which woman. He might even been on Missouri's bench at the time, but in Rupp, he got caught scanning the crowd. Yeah, it's a problem for him. I'll pray for him. Also, your brother's going to prison. You're just dancing on him saying he, you know, didn't have those same problems.
Starting point is 00:38:31 You're just like, hey, I can't, you know, I can't deal with it. Dave and Louisville. Go ahead, Dave. Hi, thanks. Take my call again, fellas. I got a couple of two-part questions here. First off, where are y'all going to be at the State Fair? Do you know where you're going to be located?
Starting point is 00:38:46 South Wing. South Wing. South Wing. South Wing. Sounds great. And the second part of this, and you guys may have heard this or not, if you guys were a spirit animal, what spirit animal would you be? And I'm going to hang up and listen, and we'll see you guys at the South Wing. Thank you, guys.
Starting point is 00:39:03 Yeah, I don't know enough about animals because I don't like them. So probably one that is just like... You'd be like a little poodle. You yap a lot. What is that? Is that? It doesn't even sound like a poodle. Is that your impersonation of me?
Starting point is 00:39:30 Is that what you think I sound like? No, no, that you being a poodle. That's you as a poodle. It's your spirit animal. First of all, is that even how a poodle sounds. That's how you as a poodle would sound. Like a humanized poodle. This is what happened.
Starting point is 00:39:43 You know, ride leaves. There are no games. Shannon's over here calling me a poodle. Well, okay. Then you pick yours. No, I'm fine. I think that one works. Raven, go ahead, Raven. Raven.
Starting point is 00:40:00 I was kind of excited about talking someone named Raven. All right, let's go to Gatlin. The Gatlin boys. What's up, Gatlin? Hey, how you doing? First time caller. Who are? I heard the guy listen every day, and I heard the guy mention a man drove from Pikeville, Kentucky.
Starting point is 00:40:18 And I just wanted to say that I was in that vehicle. I was five years old. That was my dad. Oh, wow. A dad and my mom drove us all the way from Pockville to Anchorage to watch Kentucky in the Great Alaskan shootout. So how long did the trip take? It took five days down, six days back.
Starting point is 00:40:40 Wow. So you got that. You drove all the way there, watched the games turn right around and came back. Pretty much, yeah. We got to eat Thanksgiving dinner with the team. They asked me who my favorite player. was. I said Steve Mazzello. I don't even think he got in time.
Starting point is 00:40:57 What do you mean you got to eat with the team? Did you all have a connection or were they just impressed you made the trip? No, they were just impressed. We made the trip. They had heard. My dad was on the radio, I think, with Ralph Hacker.
Starting point is 00:41:14 I was real little. But they had heard and we stayed at the same hotel as the team. That's awesome. That's a cool story. So They heard you made the trip and then brought you on. Well, that's really neat. That's a very UK basketball story.
Starting point is 00:41:29 Well, I appreciate you sharing it, Gatlin. I thought so, too. I had to tell you all. I've always wanted to call in and mention that. So that guy kind of did it for me. Well, that's perfect. Well, that had to be weird. You're sitting there listening to the guy talks about you.
Starting point is 00:41:43 I appreciate to call. We drove all way out to L.A. We didn't get to eat with the team. And we turned right around, too. We immediately turned around. We went to the game. Yeah. For people who don't remember, we drove to L.A., went to the game.
Starting point is 00:41:56 Shannon asked if we could go to the Viper Room for 10 minutes. We went to the Vipar Room for like 20 minutes, turned right around and came back. Yeah, I only think it was 20. I remember being in the arena and people had been following the trip. They're like, what have you done in L.A. so far? I was like, no, we drove straight to the Pauilion. Like, this is us getting to L.A. We spent no time in L.A.
Starting point is 00:42:14 No. I'm looking at the map to Anchorage. How do you get there? This goes through North Dakota and then you're up into Canada. then you go through Edmonton, but it's driving straight through would be 66 hours one way. So if they did it in five days, you're still hauling it to get there when you think about stopping and sleeping. 66 hours, five days. That means they put in some days.
Starting point is 00:42:37 I mean, they put in like 12 and a half hour driving days. I'm looking at like our trip to Seattle would be about half of what they did. And we flew back. They turned around and drove back. All right. Next summer. driving a night. Can we have a reason?
Starting point is 00:42:54 Are we playing there? We're going to go to Pikeville. And then we're going to recreate the journey. See Ramon Harris. Oh, Laskin assassin. We'll take a break. Be right back. Kentucky Sports Radio.

Starting point is 00:44:17 that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing. And we're still chasing it. And we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on Earth? Are you a good person because you're afraid?

From the WNBA standout Kate Martin and rising hockey star Layla Edwards.
Starting point is 00:45:18 If a boy can do it, I don't see why a girl can't. Like, I've never understood that. Like, it didn't make sense in my brain. It's hard to be in spaces that no one looks like you, but don't ever feel like you don't belong. Don't let that be the reason you don't do it. An Olympic champs Gabby Thomas and Katie Ladeke. The ability to show a gold medal to someone
Starting point is 00:45:35 and have their face light up and smile, that means the world to me. And that's what motivates me to win more gold medals. At our level, at this scale, like being able to fail in front of the entire world. Like, I can do anything. I can do anything. Because resilience isn't just about winning. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHart Women's Sports. Jacob Kingston grew up in an isolated polygamous sect. We were God's chosen kingdom on earth. He felt destined for greatness. So when a swaggering Armenian businessman catapults Jacob into an extreme, ordinary world, he doesn't look back.
Starting point is 00:46:23 Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, meeting the president of Turkey. I'm Michelle McPhee, and this is one of the most shocking criminal conspiracies I've ever come across. When Jacob met Levant this went to a billion dollar fraud. But with two kings from entirely different worlds, just how long can their empire survive? The largest tax investigation in American history. You need to tell me what you know.
Starting point is 00:46:50 Is somebody coming after me? Jacob told Levan, you're ruining my life. Listen to Kingdom of Fraud on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Welcome back, Tuggy Sports Radio. I found this kind of interesting. I just saw this online. Apparently, there are 35 elected either federal politicians or state governors that have their own podcast. podcast.
Starting point is 00:47:24 Okay. 35. One of whom is our governor, Andy Beshear. All right. Would you like to know who has the most listens of any elected persons podcast? Does Pelosi have a Stock Tips podcast? Because I would listen to that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:44 That would break the bank. She should. The most is Ted Cruz, who has 1.4 million monthly downloads. That's a lot. That is a lot. Who is listening to Ted Cruz? That's a lot higher than I would think.
Starting point is 00:48:02 Any politician would have. Me too. Gavin Newsom second, $500,000. So Cruz has got him by a million. All right? Dan Crenshaw, that's a representative, has
Starting point is 00:48:16 $370,000. He's third. So what if I told you that Andy Bashir the fourth most of anyone in the country. Shannon, that sounds pretty good, right? That's pretty impressive, yeah. Fourth most in the country of any politician, guess how many monthly downloads? Third had 300,000? Third was 366,000. You'd say a quarter million? 7,300. What a drop-off. Yes. And that's the fourth biggest in the country.
Starting point is 00:48:52 Now, just for comparison sake, every hour of KSR gets significantly more than that. Let me go farther. Representative Troy Carter does a weekly podcast. I don't know who that is, but it's called What Makes America Tick. So presumably in a month, he had four episodes. Guess what his total downloads for a month is doing four episodes a week called What Make a America take 500 Shannon
Starting point is 00:49:27 400 53 all right just stop they do something that's a that's a group text you can share you can share all those opinions with those people
Starting point is 00:49:38 without having a podcast that's a that's a group text there will be more people like at a remote I why would you keep doing that you're just talking to yourself out loud.
Starting point is 00:49:56 Yeah. Yeah, presumably a few of those or maybe whoever uploaded it, produced it. To make sure it's working. Mom and dad aren't going to miss an episode. Refresh it a couple of times. All right, good for him. So I think what this says is unless you're Ted Cruz, Gavin Newsom, or Dan Crenshaw,
Starting point is 00:50:12 maybe she should just quit. I'm actually impressed by Ted. That's good numbers. I wouldn't think a politician would have an entertaining podcast. Maybe it's not, but. That is a lot. Somebody likes it, clearly. Let's go to Todd. Go ahead, Todd.
Starting point is 00:50:26 Hey, good morning, man. I live in Florida. I'm from Berea, but I enjoy your show and appreciate it. My question is, how come you don't host the Paul Feinbaum show anymore? They kicked me off. What was the language I used for the other thing? We did something out of bounds. Drew and I did something out of balance.
Starting point is 00:50:49 No, we were on there one time, and we just, We were talking, you know, you have to sit and talk about the other teams, and I said that Missouri's Quanzo Martin shouldn't be the coach anymore because I didn't think he was good enough for the new SEC. The Missouri AD got mad, called the SEC network, and I was banned from hosting. And then the Missouri AD the next year fired Quanzo Martin. But for whatever reason, it sort of stayed in the SEC world that I was kind of persona non-grada. and then I think over time I talked about it. I think it made Feinbaum a little, like I don't think he loved that I talked about it. And now I think they'd probably let me be on it.
Starting point is 00:51:32 But now I just think Paul won't let me be on it. So, you know, I enjoyed it. I had a lot of fun doing it, but that's why. Well, I enjoyed listening to you. I mean, I listen to you guys every day and I appreciate it. But I enjoyed you hosting the show when I thought you did a good job. Well, thank you. I did.
Starting point is 00:51:50 The Fine Bomb Show is how I got my ESPN gig was the day we had to host when there was that scandal at Ohio State. The Fine Bomb Show is also how I ended up in the hospital. You've got quite a ride until I hosted it a few times. The Fine Bomb Show, when I lost my voice, and Feinbaum was going to have me host for the first time in like five years. I thought it was my chance to get to come back. I lost my voice.
Starting point is 00:52:18 I drank all this water. to try to get my voice back and I ended up with water intoxication, which sounds like a made-up illness. And I ended up in the hospital and then I had all that blood pressure problems, which led to my anxiety problems. Like all of that comes from stupid ass Paul Feinbaum. You don't even get a colony more. It all comes from Quanzo Martin. Because if it wasn't for Quanzo Martin, I wouldn't have felt the need to host. I could have just sat there, not drank all that water. Butterfly effect of Quanzo Martin. He changed everything. thing. Quanzo Martin
Starting point is 00:52:52 causing all those problems. Bob and Jamestown, I really wanted to get to you, but Shannon said there wasn't time. I will see you back here tomorrow.
