Welcome to Hour 2 of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Now here's Matt Jones.
Welcome back.
It is Kentucky Sports Radio, 859-2802287.
text machine is 772-77524 we got a lot of people on here a lot of people writing good comments on the text machine
one person writes Matt every time you talk about marriage I see why you're not married although
I do think most of your opinions make sense marriage is not about logic do you agree with that I 100
agree with that there's a lot of give and take with a marriage though I don't are you are you ready to
accept some of that when you step into that role.
That's the big question.
Yeah.
I mean, there's give and take on everything, right?
Yeah.
But, you know.
Mainly when you're married, it's a lot of giving.
Not a lot of taking.
You agree with that?
All this good advice he's giving.
But like,
we do have to think about the fact that we're on number three.
It's true.
Not married to number three, but.
Close to married to number three.
What do you put on Facebook?
I'm in a relationship.
Oh, you're a Facebook official now.
I'm Facebook official.
Oh, did you really?
You made it Facebook official.
I don't even know how to do that.
One person said, Matt, I was sitting on one of the golf holes yesterday at Glen Oaks.
I saw you, my wife and I were on our patio.
I saw you hit a ball that came within inches of hitting a person's window.
Did you know that?
I didn't know it almost hit the window, but I knew there was a couple that there were some dangers.
First of all, those houses at Glen Oaks are right on the course.
Oh, yeah.
And then yesterday I was, if you were right of the fairway in a house, your house was in the danger zone.
And there was one where my friend Johnny Bruce was like, oh no, as soon as I hit it.
So I'm not surprised.
I don't think that's a lie.
I was all over the place yesterday.
It was not good.
Craziest part is you found in the fairway.
And that how it usually works?
Kicked out.
Hit a tree.
You like you bounce.
That's not what happened.
not what happened. That didn't happen at all. All right. So two things. First of all, did you,
did you see the story about Justin Bieber? Oh. Yeah. So, um, Shannon, a dude dressed. So I guess
there was, there's a hot club in Vegas. Okay. All right. So you got to think about that.
You've been to a club in Vegas. I think Drew and I went once. With you. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah,
we went at one time. Right. And it's like, it's too cool for us. Is it's a senior frogs?
No, senior frogs is not a club. That's a disgusting.
bar. I'm talking about like a, I'm talking like a boom jicke boom jacobo. I used to go to
Tao. Yeah, places like that. I hate those kind of places, but we went like one time. And Drew,
I don't, Shannon, I don't remember you being there. Well, I don't either. I think that was
Gummy Night. Okay. So, well, so anyway, it's like everybody's hot and everybody's doing
doing the thing. Well, Justin Bieber show. Well, a guy who looks like Justin Bieber.
Okay. Not a lot like him, but kind of like. Shaved head, tattoos, sunglasses,
dress like Justin Bieber. He shows up at the club. Now, nobody knows yet. I don't think I've seen
whether he was trying to do this, or he just showed up and everybody thought he was Justin Bieber.
So they let him in to the club like via the VIP entrance. And everybody's like, Justin, thanks for being here.
And he was like, well, these people think of it.
I'm Justin Bieber.
They put him on stage and let him perform.
No way.
He was like, I'd like to perform.
And then they did.
And he performed Shannon a couple of songs before people were like,
it doesn't sound like Justin.
But maybe he's having an off night, you know?
Yeah, they gave him.
Well, you know, Justin Bieber's been having health problems.
Go through some things.
So I think they were like, well, he'll find his rhythm.
Yeah.
He apparently did multiple songs
before somebody was like,
yeah, I don't think this is Justin Bieber.
Because he had asked for them to play his vocal track with it.
Smart.
Because he had said like, you know, I've been struggling my voice.
So they did.
And it took them a few songs to realize Shannon.
It was not Justin Bieber.
And this was like some huge club in Vegas.
They're now embarrassed about it.
This guy's like, yeah, I'm.
I performed as Justin Bieber for a few songs and nobody questioned it.
I'm just going to go ahead and assume that he wasn't trying to do this.
They just assumed that was him and he just played along.
And if I were in that situation, I would probably just play along too.
I mean, when are you ever going to get the chance to get up on stage and perform in Vegas?
But it's kind of amazing he got to that point.
Yeah.
Once he's up there though, having been in that club or in clubs, even that one specifically,
you could probably do that with about any artists.
Nobody is paying.
There's usually some things going on.
People aren't paying that much of attention.
Makes me wonder if I've even seen people that weren't who they were.
I thought you were going to say, did you say you were usher at one of the clubs?
No, I've said for years, my last 10 Jimmy Buffett concerts, they could have put anybody up there singing those songs.
Nobody cared.
So, you know, I'm not that surprised he got away with it once he got past the security and got on stage.
It has to be, you know, my whole thing about if you want to sneak into.
something, act like you're supposed to be there, right?
Yeah.
That takes it to a whole new level, though.
Perform.
Quite a boss move.
Not just to get into the place.
Perform, Shannon.
Get up there on stage and say, I can do his songs.
I wonder what, I mean, what was it that tip them off that it was not him?
He was just that bad.
Because they said he sounded terrible.
Yeah.
And did they kick the guy out of the club?
I think they sort of stopped the music, said, thank you, Justin, for being here.
And then kind of got him.
quite a boss move.
He had to think to himself.
I'm going to try to get in once he gets in.
I'm going to try to get a VIP area.
Then he gets that.
I'm going to try to get on stage.
Just be Justin Bieber.
Just be Justin Bieber.
That's probably pretty good.
No, I said Dustin Bieber.
I'm just the row that you misheard me.
It was your fault for thinking it.
Mark Pope said Trent Noah has been the veteran leader of the team.
And that he has gone from a freshman who couldn't do anything when he first arrived at
Kentucky to now he thinks he's the veteran presence this team will need as a true sophomore.
On a team full of guys, one of whom played and won a national championship, is that surprised
you?
High praise coming for the guy.
We all thought he was going to be maybe forgotten in this rotation of all these players.
I think that's, we're all sadly mistaken.
I think the dude has earned his right.
It's going to get a lot of minutes.
Earned he's right last year on the court.
Earned even more this summer.
I can believe that Noah is doing all the right things, but when you look at that roster,
it is surprising that he'd be.
the one to get named as a leader when you have
O-Way coming back who's going to be in
all-American conversations. You mentioned you've got
a guy who just won a national championship.
There's a lot of options that could have stepped up
and been the guy, but to hear a sophomore
Trent Noah is leading,
that's great for him. He's going to steal
some minutes. Mark Pope knows
if you're going to be the veteran leader,
you're going to play. Nobody
listens to the guy that sits on the bench.
So,
I guess that means when you're making
your rotations, Ryan, you've got
put Trent Noah in them. I think, and even, you know, the TBT guys, they told us the one guy
they mentioned the most they were impressed with was Trent Noah. I guess he kind of dominated
one game against the TBT guys. So I think Trent has earned that right. If he's doing it on the
court, he's doing it off the court. So who's not going to play? Somebody has to not play. Like,
you keep hearing O.A. Low awesome, right? And then you hear Colin Chandler's, you're not going to be able
to keep him off the court.
I think Mark Pope said
Jasper Johnson had a chance to be
the spark club that puts up huge points
in short minutes. Okay, now you get to Trent
Noah. Somebody's not going to be
able to play. Who's it going to be?
Like somebody of that group
of Aberdeen, Noah,
Diabate,
and Cam Williams is not playing.
There's just, I mean, in Colin Channel.
Somebody that group's not playing.
You just don't have enough space.
So who is it? I really don't know.
I mean, Pope's going to be,
probably use everybody can.
Pope's someone that will use his whole roster,
but he's still, like,
maybe Malachi Moreno disappears.
But even...
I'm even assuming him.
Because he's the 12th man.
But he would start on several teams.
Of course.
That just shows their depth.
If he plays,
then someone else is not going to play.
I'm even right now putting Malachi Moreno in the,
I don't think he plays once Quaiton comes back.
He might play at the beginning of the year.
But I don't think he does.
So, but one of the.
those guys at the two, three, four position has to not play. They have too many people.
Who is? If you had to bet. In March, I would have said Trent Noah, but then we keep hearing
these comments. It's confusing. And you're hearing he's knocking down every three-pointer. He gets
in practice. I'm going to say Cam Williams, which I can't believe I'm going to say. But I think
if Noah's playing, then who's it going to be? You know Aberdeen's playing. It has to
to be Cam Williams, right?
I don't think Diabate's going to have to be on the court because he's like the other leader
they keep hearing about.
Cam Williams is probably the guy because positionally he's more of a wing guard where they're
the heaviest.
You can play small ball with DiBate.
I kind of thought Noah was going to be the one out with Cam Williams playing, but maybe
it's flipped.
Because Cam Williams Williams is also the one guy you don't hear people talk about a lot.
Do they go maybe go small at the four and maybe Trent gets minutes there?
Yeah, maybe.
but I think you're just
early in the year everybody will play
but I'll be interested when we get to SEC
play and they narrow that rotation
I kind of wonder if he'll be the guy that's not in
Freebird, go ahead, Freebird.
Hey gentlemen, hey Ryan, happy belated birthday
to a fellow Leo.
Mine was last Wednesday.
Happy birthday.
And thank you, buddy.
What's the craziest thing that's happened to you all
on a golf course?
Like you know when they're hitting a house,
break at a window.
Years ago, I accidentally ran over
a dump by the pond.
That's bad. I almost got to fight with
a doctor from Louisville once.
Yeah, I remember that.
Appreciate the call. Like a fit,
I came very close to blows
with a, not just
a random Louisville fan, but a doctor.
Like a licensed doctor
who would not
stop yelling at me. And I was like,
sir, you are a doctor.
Do you recognize that this is
not behavior that the
medical board would be appreciating.
So that I think is, that's probably up there for me.
You know, I had a hole in one when I was like 10.
What course was that on?
Mason Headley par three.
And yes, that counts.
No, the course doesn't exist and it was a par three course, but it still counts.
Had a lighted par three course on Mason Heard.
It's like 130 yards.
I hit a three wood.
Did it go in?
Of course.
It would not have been a hole in one if it didn't.
It didn't go in.
It was a hole in one.
He chipped on and tapped in.
Then I got one when I was 15 at the Middlesbril country club.
And then I haven't had one since.
Yeah.
Two before the age of 15, you would have thought I was Tiger.
And then there's the much disputed round at Beth Page Black.
Is this controversial?
Good foot wedge that day.
Eugene, what's up?
Hey, fellas, what's going on with you all today?
Good to talk to you.
Good to talk to you, stranger.
I was trying in to Ryan the other night out to dinner with my family.
It's always good to see.
him out and around and he's taking his boys to dinner, I think. So it's always good to see Ryan.
Well, that's nice. Yeah, I get to hang out with Eugene for a little bit. You saw Eugene in the
wild. That's right. That's right. I wanted to ask you, boys, what do you think about this
fellow's coming over from Croatia? Is he, I'd say his name, but I'm sure I can't say it.
Yellowvich. I see. He got a shot at playing? I think so. Yeah, I mean, he's 21. It's good, nice to hear
from Eugene. I appreciate the call. He's 21. And that's the thing.
I think people do skip over with him.
He's older, you know, and I think that makes it.
I mean, Z was young, right?
Wasn't Z 18, 19?
He was a little younger.
This is a 21-year-old, so he's a little bit more of a grown man.
I don't think he comes over here unless he thinks he's going to play.
Zee was young.
He knew he had some time.
I think, but what do we expect?
Who knows?
I mean, like, played on the same European team that Yokic played on.
you know, but there's probably dudes that have stunk that have played on that team too, so who knows?
Yeah, I mean, we saw that team in the Bahamas years ago.
I had fun of the casino with them, so we know some guys from that club can maybe not be as focused on basketball as they need to be.
It's the same they gave Indiana a good exhibition game here recently just last week.
So they've done a lot of good things as far as how he'll translate.
He could be the one that ends up not playing.
He's the one, like I said this yesterday, I have no clue if he was starting.
in the NCAA tournament, wouldn't surprise me.
Or if he was last on the bench,
couldn't get out of street clothes, it wouldn't surprise me.
What do you think, by the way, about the anonymous quote from the SEC saying
Kentucky's playing, paying two, three, or four times more than any other school in the conference,
they better win it.
See that quote?
Yeah.
I think there's a little bit of messaging going around that's part of coaches making excuses for Kentucky
having a good roster and then Pope kind of embracing it wanting to flaunt that they have the big roster.
something like the Norlander story.
Some of these seem like outrageous numbers,
but that's what
whether be the enemies or Kentucky, you're saying it.
A lot of these SEC schools are upset
that Kentucky and Florida had money
and the football programs got the money at their school.
And they wanted to be known so that they graded on a curve.
I asked Matt Norlander specifically,
tell me the schools that will be hurt the most
by the Rev Share Tech thing.
And he goes, Auburn and Alabama.
Because all their money will go to football?
That was the first.
Two he said was Auburn and Alabama.
I think that's interesting,
and I wonder if one of those quotes might be
from Auburn or Alabama.

What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defying the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves,
I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series
because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us everything he gives us
on the night-to-night basis on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson,
we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nash will get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
He running up the court, licking his fingers why he got the ball.
Like, you go through a training camp with that, I said.
You figure it out real quick.
Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball.
So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast,

Welcome back, Techie Sports Radio, 859, 280, 20287.
We have some breaking news, Shannon.
Running on a
John Wall
has officially retired from playing basketball
after 11 NBA seasons
and then another couple years of being hurt
and trying to get back.
He is retiring from the NBA.
You could be forgiven if you thought he was
because he hasn't played in a couple years,
but I think he has wanted to come back.
I'm going to go ahead and say,
I've said this many times,
no bigger star has played at Kentucky in my lifetime than John Wall.
One of my also, I really like him as a person.
And in my opinion, when you're talking about the turnaround of Kentucky basketball
that occurred after Billy Gillespie, the person who deserves the most credit is John Calgary,
but the person that deserves the second most credit, Ryan, is John Wall.
He made Kentucky basketball cool again, just in an instant.
Once again, we were there with a team everybody's envious of.
I think really in my lifetime two rock stars, Rex and John Wall.
Those two guys are, there's a big gap between the next guy.
Yeah, he's the guy.
And I say this, like, I'll talk to people who are like in college or whatever now and they'll talk to me about this or that player.
And I'll say, unless you lived through the John Wall experience in Lexington, like as much as people loved Oscar or as much as people love, pick your guy.
there was just a different thing around John Wall.
There was just a different, like, mystique kind of around him that I don't think was replaced
even by the many great players that came along after.
Agreed.
He just had a different thing.
Yeah, he's a rock star like, we probably won't see again.
And short of winning the title, I mean, he pretty much lived up to it here.
He was awesome in his one season.
Really, before injuries got him in the NBA, he was.
a rock star there too.
I mean, they still use, like,
I still use,
you see UK students
as they're moving on campus
this year. They come up
on my TikTok feed, Shannon,
and they're playing that little thing,
6-4 from Kentucky
Job. Like, they're still
doing that, moving into the UK dorm.
And those kids
were like three
when that happened.
Yeah, Josiah has no memory of John
obviously playing at the UK.
The other thing is it was pre-social media.
Uh-huh.
So that's why there was still a mystique around.
Like he wasn't doing TikTok videos, right?
He wasn't accessible.
There were not NIL signings.
There were not meet and greets.
He, there was a mistake.
You didn't seem around town.
Right?
Yeah.
He was just this John Wall.
And like that won't happen again.
You can't have that mystique around people anymore.
Like the only person I can think of in culture today that has that mystique is like Taylor Swift.
She has that mystique because she doesn't do a lot of interviews.
She doesn't like there's a little mystique around her.
John Wall is like the only person I can think of in the, I don't know that you'll have that again at Kentucky.
Do you?
No, I mean, if you were lucky enough to see him at, you know, Tali Hill or Waffle House late one night or there, show up your frat party,
It was almost like seeing Bigfoot, and you know, you're texting everybody you possibly know,
even if you just walk past Wall and cousins on the street.
Yeah, he didn't even go out either.
That was another thing.
Like, you could see DeMarcus because DeMarcus was enjoying his year a little bit,
although not as much as people think.
Some of those other guys on the team were out, but you never saw John Wall, really.
It was like...
So even now his highlight, Rio, like, there's a few football players.
They're like famous YouTube highlights, like Tavion Austin.
There's a couple.
Wall's high school highlight has kind of become this thing in lore also.
I saw a podcast.
Somebody just interviewed the guy that did it.
Yeah.
It's like recently.
Yeah.
And then if you can find there are a lot of people, if you go to YouTube, again, if you're younger and you're like, go watch.
There's a video somebody has put up of the highlights of him in the UK North Carolina game.
Yeah.
Everybody has seen that crossover dunk, but I thought forgot all the other stuff he did.
That one steal where he comes around and he shoots a layup behind his head and gets fouled off the back.
That's one of the greatest plays I've ever seen.
It gets down the court in like half a second.
The fastest guy I've ever seen it from one in the court to the other.
And then, of course, there's the dance.
Yep.
Like the dance.
Again, now everybody does dances all the time.
But like that was as stupid, Shannon as this little thing is, right?
It took off, though.
It totally took off.
And, yeah.
There just won't be another John Wall.
So I hope whatever he does next, it goes great.
David, go ahead, David.
Yes.
Yes, Matt.
And Ryan, I've got a question for each of you from two weeks ago, Friday.
Yes.
Are you there?
Yes.
Okay.
Ryan, you mentioned a cemetery in the Hamburg location.
Yes.
Would that be the one between Sir Barton Way and the Walmart Lowe's?
Yes.
Yes, it is.
That is a horse cemetery.
Uh-huh.
For what it's worth.
It's a horse cemetery.
Yes, one of the nicest ones in the nation, I would say.
It was moved from the hillside on Winchester Road for the road that came up to Lowe's and Starbucks.
What's your second question?
Matt, I am so excited about your fellowship and your non-fellowship.
and your non-fellowship trip to South Africa.
And the big question for me is,
are you going to pack your cowboy hat?
No, it's too hard to fly across the world with that.
I appreciate the call.
So I am starting official prep for South Africa.
It's coming up, dude.
I've been reading books.
There's a book called The Elephant Whisper.
It's a little too long.
It's a little too long.
But it's good.
It's interesting.
It's about this guy who run,
who like ran a nature preserve and he started like talking to elephants.
And I've learned all about elephants.
You know, elephants are very smart.
Yes, they are.
You know,
elephants are like the only animals that like if one of their animal,
their herd dies,
they'll remember the spot and they'll come and mourn.
Wow.
At the spot.
Yeah.
They like understand, like they,
they speak to each other through like what, like sound waves,
via their movements across the mile.
It's a fascinating thing.
And I'm getting ready.
And what I'm learning, having read this, is like being out in the bush, as they say for the safaris, that's going to be like they say, you know, these animals, they just come up to you.
Like, look, there's a line.
A leopard.
What do you, what are you plan to do when one comes up to you?
I'm going to say hi and just hope that I'm just going to have to assume that these people.
Get your pocket knife out.
I'm going to assume that they're safe.
Because the one thing I learned in the elephant book is if these elephants want to kill you, you're dead.
Like, there's nothing you can do about it.
So you just got to hope.
You got hide behind those non-women.
You just, that's right.
Ladies, you go first.
Build a wall.
So, but I'm looking forward to it.
Although I'm a little nervous, I won't act like I'm not.
We'll be right back.
T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney.
Call T.J. He'll make them pay.
Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Here's Matt.
Jones.
The whole state doing this.
Yes.
For years.
I mean, we weren't the only people.
This was a big song.
But, you know, I mean, there were like other athletes in other sports doing it.
And then John Wall spawned his own songs.
There were multiple John Wall songs that I still listen to today.
Really?
Yeah.
The Do the John Wall?
Was that one of them?
That's the best one.
There were some lower budget versions out there that Vernon's
good but that's the one that's stuck i don't know what is an ice cream paint job or do i want to know
maybe it's okay maybe it's cream on the inside and clean on the outside yeah 859 2802802
what it's a car okay yeah no double meaning there uh it's like a way that you can get a car
painted like that's exactly what they're talking about okay okay good to know uh one person writes matt
you're going to love South Africa,
although my wife is very concerned about your safety.
I get asked that all the time about the whole safety.
Like I get,
I probably,
probably once a day,
somebody comes up to me and says,
like,
I mean,
they say it changing like,
I've never heard the news.
Like they're breaking it to you for the first time.
You know,
and I appreciate the concern.
But like that,
again,
it's the same thing when I talk about New York.
Like,
a lot of people,
I understand.
People are like,
nervous about what they don't know.
But I'm sure it's like other places.
You just have to be weary of where you are, right?
And just make good decisions.
I mean, I've read about all I can read about these places.
And Cape Town, I think, is the vast majority of it fine.
Johannesburg, I know, has some more serious issues.
But again, if you stay in the right places, you're probably fine.
You are fine.
And then, you know, the safari thing is like there's a lot of people that have done it.
So I think, you know, UK punter Aidan LaRoss gave you some really good advice.
And I think, you know, trusting you about just going out with somebody, don't go out by yourself.
Don't go out at night.
Just be with somebody all the time and you'll be fine.
My safari group just had another woman join it.
So it's now 10 women and me.
There's more people on the front line when you fight the elephant.
Yeah.
I've looked at the other group.
Shannon. They all include multiple men
except this one. I mean,
I don't think that's a bad thing. I think you use that
to your advantage. Well,
it's not about that. This is about the nature.
Oh, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Time you to step up
and be manly. Not about being with 10. I am a little
concerned about the being manly
part because they're going to expect me to do things. Yes,
they are. Like, I'm going to have to carry people's
luggage.
You know,
I already know I might have to
help people like, well, I mean, it's just
like this is the gent. This is, this
the growing up in the South. Like, I'm not, you know, anything that's going to need to be done,
they're going to be looking at me. Whereas, like, in Kentucky, I just look at hubby. And I'm like,
this is a hubby thing to do. They might be independent women who can do it themselves.
I'm sure they are independent. I'm not saying they'll need me, but I'm still going to feel like I
got to like, there's a puddle. I got to like throw my coat down. Oh, please. We know that's
not going to get to do that. Yeah, I mean, I feel like, you know, those are going to be the kind of
things that I would do. That would be very sweet. That's probably over the top
unnecessary. Did you buy the pocket knife at the fair on Friday? Yeah, so,
Shane, I was going to buy a hubby your pocket knife. And then, you know, there's a lot of
people that said men should pick their own pocket knives. I didn't realize it was that.
You could have gotten your own, though. That's what I'm asking. Did you just get one for the
chair? I mean, I don't understand why that's the case. Like, any gift someone gives me, I'm going to
accept. I'm not going to be like, I guess if somebody came up to me and gave me like,
boxer briefs.
I would think that's weird.
But like I don't feel like a knife
is so personal
you can't buy another person a pocket knife.
Is it they just want
to be able to pick the style, the look,
the color? I walked by a pocket knife place
and 75% of them said
Trump, so I wasn't going to buy those.
And then a lot of them were like
camouflage and I just went well.
Well, that's what you need. That way you can sneak it past security
next time. It's camouflage.
You just walk right on there.
Yeah, it didn't work the, didn't work the last time.
Are you more worried about the wildlife in South Africa?
No, I'm not worried about it.
I'm not worried about it.
I'm not worried about it.
So you're not worried about like getting trampled by an elephant?
I'm not the, I'm not worried about, I don't get worried about that kind of stuff.
You know, my view is your time is your time when it comes like if you make good decisions.
You know, you can't.
It's like I always say about people in your house.
If somebody wants to get you.
they'll get you.
If they want to get in, they want to get in.
They're going to get in.
Yes.
So a lot of times I think a lot of security stuff is for you, not them.
Yeah.
You know what I mean?
It makes you feel good.
Right.
You go to these places.
I mean, there are millions of people that go to these countries every year, right?
He's got to be smart about it.
There's no reason to be scared.
You can be scared and safe and never experience.
life. Yeah. Right. So if I'm blessed enough to be able to do a trip like this,
how can you not do it? You got to enjoy every second of it. How can you, I mean,
how can you not do it? A lifetime, man. I got, I mean, just think about just from like a blessing
standpoint, I got a phone call three and a half years ago from a woman I did not know who had read
an article on the internet about me and said, we would like you to be part of this group.
to where you get to travel the world for free, right?
Yeah.
The first part of my trip is free.
I have to pay for the second part.
For free, be with 25 of the most interesting people in the country.
And at the end of it, become part of this group where you have networks with everyone in the world.
Can't turn it down.
And why?
Because you do a sports radio show in Kentucky.
Like, that's crazy.
so to turn that down would be insane.
Remember, we were supposed to go to Israel.
Now, Shannon, I might have been scared about that.
Yeah.
Yeah, there's certain places.
But this was supposed to be an Israel trip,
and then they switched it to South Africa.
Probably a good switch.
Today, probably the right one.
Try Israel another time.
Yeah.
So, 859-28027.
The Kentucky High School football season starts Friday.
Yes, it does.
What do I need to know, right?
The teams are always good.
are going to continue to be good.
Are there any surprise teams?
Like, you know, sometimes there'll be a team
hasn't been good and I like to root for them.
There's got to be a couple of those out there.
Who are they?
I'm not aware yet.
When they've got to get into the weeds yet with it.
I'm going to opening night.
You've done no research.
None.
Okay.
My opening night is a Woodford County high school football.
I'm doing the emcee for their bowl game.
Oh, okay.
Who do they play?
A team from Ohio.
So you're the MC.
What does that mean?
They're the PA guy, not the MC, the PA guy.
Oh, why are you doing that?
I think their main guys out of town.
They pull me out of the bullpen.
So you...
In week one, this sounds like a new job.
Week one.
Shannon, he is the reserve.
Yep.
Woodford County, PA.
How's the normal guy, not ready for the first game of the year?
That's true.
The ball game.
I don't have to go to all the Douglas games now.
Josiah's not playing.
So that's what I was going to ask you.
Are you going to, you've been going to high school football for 15 or 20 years to see the same
schools because of your kids.
Yeah. Are you done with that?
I'm just going to try to maybe go to other games.
Like, I've never been to the Trinity Sanex game.
I think I'd like to go to that game one time.
Are you going to be like Ryan Lemon travels the state?
Maybe.
I think there might be a sponsorship there.
So can I ask you a question?
If people ask you to fill in as their PA guys around the state.
I can do it.
I'd love it.
See, folks, he will say yes.
Yeah.
Won't he?
Yeah.
Put a price on that, Ryan.
No, no, don't have a price.
Hot dog and a Coke.
Just ask them to pay your transportation.
costs.
All right.
And you'll,
you'll be good.
Let's go to Madison.
Go ahead, Madison.
How are we doing, Matt?
Good.
How are you doing?
I'm fine.
I'm doing well.
I got a girlfriend, so I'm in good.
Oh, wait a minute.
Breaking news.
Wait a minute.
Tell me about this relationship.
Well, it started.
She's from Union County,
which is just around y'all county girls you got to watch out with them they're fast they're beautiful
in union county i know i i should have known better than that i'll have you know okay and so how's it
going oh it's going good we'd we uh we've been uh we've been together for almost a year not quite a
year but it will but you're now like going public you're now it's like a it's like a
like a hard launch.
Yeah.
Launching from outer space, so to speak.
So what's the, what kind of dates do you go on, Madison?
We just go out to eat once a month.
Pick different restaurants, go out to eat.
So what's the last one you went to?
The last one I went to, well, I went to Mr. Bees one time.
Oh, that's good.
That's good.
That's good.
How did you meet?
they had a
a dance here in
Aaron Henderson and we met
and became boyfriend and girlfriend
and that was it
oh wow that's romantic
so you had a dance
well that's good
well I'm glad
you know Madison
and we'll just call her
woman sitting in a tree
K-I-S-I-N-G
oh you you don't have to go that far
of a good time
I got a
I got two things for you.
Okay.
One is what did you, what do you make of the,
when do you think we'll get confirmation of Big Blue Man
that's not heard when they're going to do that?
I don't know, but it's always the same time.
So it's probably, I'm looking at it.
It's either Friday, October 10th or Friday, October 17th.
I don't know which one it is.
I would say because of the exhibition game,
I'm going to say the 10th.
That's just going to be my guess,
but I think that's probably right.
And then two, what do you make of the spread going up and down?
It seemed like it's the very beginning of all season.
It was 12 and a half a night soon.
Appreciate it.
I appreciate the call, Madison.
It dropped to seven and a half.
Kentucky covers that.
Come on, man.
They've got to.
It's at home, home opener.
You're an SEC school.
It should be bigger, better, stronger.
Lexington Sporting Club is hosting Kentucky Vintage Fest at Lexington.
SC Stadium prior to the game Saturday.
They play the Oakland Roots.

$12 get you into Vintage Fest at 3 p.m.
$8 at 4 p.m.

So there's one ticket, two experiences.
Whether you're thrifting for some one-of-a-kind purchases or just
soaking in the atmosphere, go to lexporting.com.
That's lexporting.com.
There you go.
That's kind of cool.
They're doing like a little antique vintage the fest and then the game against the Oakland roots.
Crowds are picking up out there too.
More and more people are trying to find a way to get out there.
Yeah, we're winning.
That's right.
We have been win.
We'll take a break.
Be right back.
KS.
Last night, a blown call changed the game.
This morning, the internet lost its mind.
Highlights are trending.
Opinions are flying.
And nobody's telling you.
exactly what happened. That's where SportsSlice comes in. I'm Timbo. Every episode, we're cutting

What's up guys?
This is Clivert Taylor the 4th.
And on my podcast, The Cliverts Show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff.
Like being an internet famous referee.
We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker walks up to me, he goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at him.
her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue of 42.
Hey, Wreck, my mama want you to weigh better.
What?
Hey, Miss Parker.
Listen to the Clifford show on the Iheart radio app,
Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.
Hey, it's Edwin Castro, also known as Castro 1021.
And I'm Conky, his best friend and business manager.
And we've got a new show called The 1021 Podcast.
I'm taking you behind the scenes on how I became one of Twitch's most popular streamers.

Listen to the 1021 podcast on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
And then he has to give us every.
everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson,
we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nass would get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
He running up the court, licking his fingers why he got the ball.
Like, after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah,
you figure it out real quick.
Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball.
So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app,
Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcasts.
My name is Madison.
He needs two girlfriends.
That's the biggest breaking news of the day.
I know.
That's the one I'm most excited about.
I'd like to know what's happening at that dance, too.
I like they made it a dance, like old school.
It's nice.
That's exactly right.
They're all on separate sides and he just walked over.
I hope so.
Draft Kings, go to Draft Kings.
Bet $5 went $200 from my friends at draft Kings.
You got Reds Angels.
Reds last night.
They get the win.
The save was my man Scuz Bucket.
Scuzz Bucket
Came in with two outs in the eighth
With two guys on
Struck him out
Ninth inning
Three strikeouts
He's scuzz bucket
I was late at night
It was like 1230 at night
And I'm watching it
I want you to look online
While I'm doing the rest this read Ryan
When he gets his last strikeout
He does a little dance
Oh he does a dance
Oh he's got a dance
He's got a little Scuzz bucket dance
Kind of looks like he's sitting down
To use the toilet
Oh
I have to watch this
Wow
Look up Scott
Barlow and look up the day. And by the way, some of y'all are starting to call him Scuz online.
This is going to, it's going to be funny if he ends up, that ends up being his nickname.
But I love the guy. In fact, he lives in a camper van, makes me loving him even more.
His wife, here's another little fact about him. His wife was Miss Texarkana and Miss Teen Texarkana.
Wow.
The sweep. He gets scuzzy. He gets more scus bucket by the day. His hair does seem to grow long
I can't find my team.
I can't find it yet.
Just look, look, go to the Reds account.
You'll see.
Are you feeling good about this road trip?
No, but they won the first game.
That's good.
Need two out of three against the angels.
So just win one of the next two.
It's another series.
You're not going to get swept.
Street continues.
But he's out there.
And then I love Key Brine.
He's not just Brian.
He's not just Brian.
He's become your favorite player.
Dude, he's the best defense.
Hey, Shannon, I know you appreciate this.
Is he the best defensive player ever?
Did you see the one last night?
They hit it and it went off.
the pitcher's foot and then he caught it and still threw him out?
Yeah, he's very good. I didn't see that one last night, but he is, without a doubt, one of the
best. He's not Brian. He's Key Brian. He's Key Brian. Go to Draft Kings. The Crown is
yours. He's promo code KSR member, Bet responsibly. Do you like that? The dude's
hair is almost down to his belly button. He's so good. And he's got his little dump dance.
Yeah. He needs to work on that a little bit. I like it. Mike, go ahead, Mike.
Hey, Matt.
What's going on?
Hey, my son got his master's at the University of Cape Town.
So if you'd like a drug-addled perspective of Cape Town or dude.
So you acknowledge your son had a drug-addled perspective.
Well, it's probably more booed.
Okay.
Did he have fun?
I hear that if you're that age, it's like the most fun place on Earth.
he loved it he spent two years there got his masters and then he went back and got his master pilot
slanching for yacht driving so yeah he loved it over there well i'd love it hit by a bus
he got by oh okay well i mean like anybody's still here he survived right
no now he lives in columbia he owns okay well at least when you said no i thought he hadn't
survived you mean he just doesn't live here okay
Okay, I got you.
Yeah, it's all good.
So if you needed any information, you're welcome to,
but give me a yell.
All right, I appreciate it.
Thank you very much for now in Columbia.
My man, he likes going off the beaten path, right?
I'd like to watch a movie about that, his son.
Yeah, seems interesting.
One person writes on the text machine,
Matt, you don't have to protect the group from lines.
You just have to be able to outrun one of the ten women.
Shannon, that's me.
That is true.
Yeah, yeah.
Just don't be the slowest one in the group, and you'll be just fine.
I'd be sad, though, if I was the slowest one in the group of the 10 women.
Andrew, go ahead, Andrew.
Hey, real quick, guys.
Appreciate you for taking the call.
Just want to say yesterday at about 9.30, I'm listening to the pre-show.
And then at 1 o'clock, I'm at Glenn Oaks playing golf with Drew and Billy R.
Sports.
So just wanted to call in and personally give my thanks for their experience.
This is why you do it, guys.
Why don't you think about that so people know?
like Drew had somebody canceled from his group.
Billy mentioned on the pre-show.
We had someone cancel, and then you showed up and got to play with Billy and Drew.
That had to be a lot of fun.
It was awesome.
I just kind of texted the pre-show as a joke, said I'm 20 minutes out.
Next thing I know, I was there.
So thanks again, guys, and I really appreciate it.
That's awesome.
Thank you for playing.
That's very cool.
See, you never know what's going to happen on golf scramble.
day. We had a great time with him too.
Drew just told that story during the commercial break
and then the guy calls in. It's crazy.
Recognize his voice right away. He's good. Very helpful.
Good at golf. But the best part is
in his scramble, you just kind of got to fit in.
It's not just about the golf. You're hanging out for six
hours. And we had a good time.
Fit right in with us. That's exactly right. You do
kind of have to... Yeah, if he'd been weird, that
would have sucked. I'll be honest. I said, Billy,
why did you do this? We're just stuck
with his random all day. But that wasn't the case.
We had a lot of fun from the moment we met.
I like that. I'm glad. I'm glad you
got to do that. I keep thinking about that pitch when Scud's
because, you know, I'm in bed. Yeah,
his dance needs a little work. I like it.
It's a Scotty Barlow. It's just a jump.
Like a hot. Yeah, he kind of just jumps. But that's what he does
every time. Oh, got him. Yes. That's it.
He's key bride. Bland. Go ahead, Blan.
I just wanted to call in and tell about my daughter's
back with Kentucky Joe at the State Fair other day. She's the
communication director for the
Beef Cattle Association does cooking
demonstrations on
Lexington Louisville TV.
And anyway, Kentucky Joe came up to her
and recognized her from that
and he sung her a song,
the gist of which is
I love Kentucky beef.
When I see you, it makes me hungry.
I like that.
That's what you say to, by the way, that's what you say to a woman
to really win her over.
When I see you, it makes you
makes me hungry. That's right. Well, I appreciate it. Tell your daughter, sorry about that.
You know, he was singing to everybody out there at the state fair. So think about Joe, he'll sing
to you, wherever you are. In line at the grocery. I was at a UK baseball game. I think it was
two seasons ago. And a friend texted me from the other side of the stadium. It was like,
you have to come get Joe. He's on his like third song. Yeah. That's a good line for South
Africa. When I see you, I get hungry.
Try it out. See if it works for you.
Probably won't.
I got to spend 11 days with those people.
We'll see you later.
