Welcome to Hour 2 of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Now, here's Matt Jones. Welcome back. Hour number two, 859-8-0-2-2-287. The text machine is 772-4525-4.
Starting point is 00:03:27 It is Wings Day at KS Bar, dollar wings all day. Try the new hamburgers as well. The phone lines are open. 859-28027. We did some interviews and stuff. So if you were going to want to get in, today's a good chance. One person writes, Matt, you dress like a cowboy at country concerts. How's that different than correct?
Starting point is 00:03:48 Good point. That's a fair point. Fair point. Because I have my cowboy hat. I only wear it at an occasional country concert. So fair enough. But, Shannon, if I end up going to a heavy metal concert and wearing a t-shirt like that and chains, you're going to have to take up for it. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:05 I'll take you in. We'll have a good time. We'll go mage. Are you out there like the whole time? I am out there for eight out of 11 days because remember, louder than life is the next Thursday. So we get Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday off. Then we're right back out there. So who are the big people at larger than life?
Starting point is 00:04:21 It's very metal heavy this year. It's Slayer and like, Rutherland. Rob Zombie and Manson. But isn't it always those people? Yeah. Well, yes, those other ones. But Avenge sevenfold deaf tones bring me the horizon. Those are the big headlining bands for each night.
Starting point is 00:04:38 Okay. But both those, what is the total amount of people that will be in Louisville for those two? It's a crazy amount of people, right? Yeah. I mean, I would say around 50 to 60 per night. Now, some of those people may be the same people, right? 50,000, yeah. I will tell you just anecdotally, I've had more people.
Starting point is 00:04:56 hitting me up for tickets for bourbon and beyond than I have in a long time. Yeah, it's a good lot of this. Why do you think that is, Drew, you think is that Benson Boone or Noah Kahn or who is why is that? I really don't know. I don't want to say this one's down, but they've had some big stars every year, so this one doesn't seem that unique compared to past years. Maybe it's just a good event people want to be a part of.
Starting point is 00:05:19 It is pretty star-studded. All right, a couple things. I finally Ryan cut the direct TV cord after. 20 years of having direct TV. I finally just one day was like, you know what, why do I still pay for this? You can get all this stuff. Other places, you know,
Starting point is 00:05:41 now they're actually bundling up cable to where we're just going to have cable again. When I called to give it back to them, they asked me, they looked at the box I had, and normally they make you return the box. They were just like, you can just take yours to recycle. Just punted
Starting point is 00:05:59 Outdated Nothing we can do with it You can take yours to recycling I was like Okay I guess so So now I don't know who is still
Starting point is 00:06:10 Subscribing to DirecTV But they lost one subscriber And I realized how much I was paying for it And it was absurd So Does there's any Do any of you still have it
Starting point is 00:06:22 Right? No No I've been a long time ago Yeah So Good to see they take care of their customers. I mean, they could have given you a newer box, but no, they
Starting point is 00:06:30 just let you keep the same one for 21 years. I've called before, and they're like, does yours work? And I'd say, yeah, and they go, then I think you're good. I don't know what the new, I don't know what would the new box have even gotten. I mean, maybe a new remote control that doesn't stick, you know? Yeah. Yeah. Well, all that stuff would have been good. So, but it is kind of, you know, it's been a long time. So I'm trying to figure out there are going to be channels that I will completely forget exists. You know, I used to sometimes during the middle of the night, like, go look at, I don't think people know unless you have DirecTV how many religious channels are out there. There'd be like 90 channels with preachers on. And so sometimes really late at night, I would just flip, and there'd be
Starting point is 00:07:09 somebody yelling at me in Houston, and then somebody yelling at me in Salt Lake City, and then somebody yelling at me in St. Louis, and I kind of liked it. I thought it was very, it would take me back to my childhood of 70 or 80 like pictures all over the country, I'll probably never see those channels again. I haven't seen DirecTV in about 15 years, but do they still have the black channels that just play different music? Like this is the... Yes. The rap channel. We're not going to put anything on it. It's just going to be a blank screen, but we'll play music for you. And they'll play like spa music and jazz music. And, you know, it was a good product. It's just, it doesn't make sense. I mean, I was looking at the bill.
Starting point is 00:07:51 I think Ryan at the end I was paying like $230 a month. Oh my God. Oh, goodness. Wow. I thought $120 was a lot. Yeah. Because I told him, give me everything. Like, say, well, I didn't, I didn't get the porn.
Starting point is 00:08:06 But like, everything else. I was like, I just was like, I just want to have the options. But the reality is you say you want that. And then you don't watch it all. You know, you can't. I mean, when was the last time you turned on stars? Well, I had stars. I don't think I've turned on stars.
Starting point is 00:08:21 10 years. But I think I was paying for it, Shannon, every month. But why? I've never watched one show on there, I don't think. I think more and more people are cutting the cord and realizing there are other options when it comes to watching what you want to watch. And you can get it a lot of different ways. So here, a couple stories I want your all's opinion on. Drew, I'll start with you on this. Because you and I were one-time tennis beat reporters, right? Back in the day. Oh, yeah. Good ones. All right. So when I see tennis now, I don't necessarily know who these people are.
Starting point is 00:08:49 But there's a woman, very popular, tennis players, very attractive. And I think that's also why she's good, but she's also very attractive. Her name is like Anna Kalinsky. Does anybody know who that is? Do not. Do not. All right, I don't either. You do, Drew?
Starting point is 00:09:05 Well, I just keeping up with recent events. Okay, yeah. So I didn't know who she was, but she's Anna Kalinsky. And there's a male player whose name is Holger Dane, which is an unfortunate name. Holger, but his name is Holger Dane. And Anna Kalinsky was on a podcast, and she said that Holger Dane had asked her out 10 times in her DMs, and that she never has said yes, but that he keeps asking her out,
Starting point is 00:09:37 and she said he must have a lot of confidence. Now, remember, these are both very good tennis players. So, I mean, in the basketball world, this would be like, I don't know. Ryan Howard saying that Devin Booker just keeps asking her out over and over and over. Holger Dane was like, no, I don't. I'm just being friendly. And then a couple of other women's teams players are like, well, he asks me out all the time too.
Starting point is 00:10:05 And it's becoming, not that he's like creepy, but that Holger Dane is asking out all of the female tennis players. And they all say no. Wow. What a thing to be known for? So in the tennis world, the tennis world is kind of like, Holger Dane looks like a good-looking guy. Why aren't people going out with Holger Dane? My question for you is, did Anna Kalinsky,
Starting point is 00:10:31 did she violate some sort of tennis bro slash female code in outing Holger Dane as being multiple times asked out? Oh, and he also was asked about it, and he said, if I want to go on a date, I ask for a date. That was his quote, which I thought was a really funny quote. So what do you think, Drew? I think she just reached her breaking point. Also, a key detail in this is she dated Yonick's Center for a long time,
Starting point is 00:10:56 who's ranked a few spots higher than him on the... So maybe he's just... So she dated the dude, his rival before? A little bit, yeah, yeah. Definitely someone he plays against. I think that makes it even weirder. Also, like, dude, there's a lot of people in the world. Like, you don't have to date this person that you travel city to city with.
Starting point is 00:11:15 that's on the women's tour. All right. What is the most, assuming that you're not being like, because she was clear that she finds him like creepy at all. Like that they spoke and they were friendly. But what is the most amount of nose, Shannon, you can get before you should just say it's just not going to happen?
Starting point is 00:11:38 One. Yeah, for me it's one. Being, you know, having somebody say no one time. enough for me. I don't need to come back and ask again. So you're like, you wouldn't say even a second time. I'm going to try again. I would say there's plenty of fish in the sea. You're not the only one. I'm going to move on to somebody who is yes. So you're one. Drew, what about you? One? Yep. Nope. It's a good trial. Well, big gulps, huh? See you later. It's all need. Just got me to know. I'm out. Ryan, I feel like you might get to two or three sometimes. Am I right about that?
Starting point is 00:12:08 You know, sometimes you take a shot. You get your own rebound and you shoot again. So maybe you need to take a second shot at it. But 10, 10 is a little mud. 10, it gets a little stalkerish. It's creepy. Yeah. You get your own rebound? Yeah. It sounds like, it sounds like you took a shot, you got blocked, and then you were like, but I'll be able to shoot over them this time. Yeah, I can maybe put a spin move on the person and dunk over their head. Wow. Yeah. Your Angel Reese down there getting your own rebound. So you always got to follow your shot, right? If they teach you, you got to follow your shot. Right. And you have a spin move? with ladies you use sometimes?
Starting point is 00:12:44 Oh, my spin move down in the post is undeniable. I don't need to hear this. What is the most common way, Ryan, you have asked out women over the years? I'm kind of fascinated on what your moves are. I have absolutely 100% zero moves. I mean zero.
Starting point is 00:13:06 But you've asked people out. What was the common way you've done it? Face to face. So you just walk up, what do you say? What do you say? Say, hey, you want to grab something to eat? Want to just go hang out for a little bit? That's pretty much. I have zero moves.
Starting point is 00:13:22 I have never been Rico Suave whatsoever, so I had fully admitted. You say you want to go grab something to eat, hang out a little bit. That's your date? Yeah, I think that's pretty much they have a drink. And that's pretty much all I got. The problem for me is if you ask somebody out like you want to go get something to eat, I'd be like how do you know if they're interested in you or not that could be platonic like you're just going to get lunch or something how do you know that there's romantic interest oh when you're sitting there at the dinner table or your cheeseburger and french fries but you're already but like you're already at dinner with him I'm saying when you're let's say because you've asked out most of your people if I'm if I'm correct from work am I right with that over the years the pretty much yes my sphere of interest doesn't go outside the newsroom They don't work right in front of him.
Starting point is 00:14:13 He's got a type. They have to work in news. He's got to type. They've got to be in the room. But you know, you glance over, catch eyes, and then you kind of, you can kind of feel it. You kind of know, okay, so you're going down here. You can feel it when you glance, glanced eyes. Yeah, they start, you know, and dressing you with their eyes.
Starting point is 00:14:31 I think they got to. Now you're being ridiculous. I'm being serious. So you would then go up to them and say, let's go grab something neat. I yeah I mean I'm old and you know when I after I got divorced there was no on the dating no getting on apps no looking for somebody it just kind of just naturally happened with yoga girl all right well good for you well I feel bad at all shannon for Holger Dane that he got called out for 10 knows I feel bad that he asked her 10 times I don't feel bad that he got called out he should have been called out for asking her that many times but okay I mean my guy should be able to find a date I would think so. He's a good-looking professional tennis player. It feels like he'd be able to...
Starting point is 00:15:12 Mix it up. Change your approach. Change it up. Now, let's go back in time to about six weeks ago to the Coldplay concert. Okay. Now, remember, it was a man and a woman, and the man was the one who hid, and the woman looked mortified.
Starting point is 00:15:28 Now, the woman's husband has come out and said, hey, I want to say something. We were already separated, and we're in the process of getting ready to get a divorce. And he was basically like everybody kind of overreacted, at least as it pertains to this woman, because we were already apart. Now, Drew, do you buy that?
Starting point is 00:15:55 I will believe, I'll buy that, yes. I will believe that. Because I don't think you would come forward and say that. Okay, I will believe it. Why did he wait so long? Why did he wait so long? I like if if if if that's true Shannon why did they wait
Starting point is 00:16:10 why did he wait so long? Because he let it to be fair he kind of let if that's true he kind of let his ex just flounder out there for a long time. Yeah I don't know that I believe him but do you think that took him this long to come up with that excuse?
Starting point is 00:16:25 It is kind of strange. He should have come out immediately and said look we're not even together but if it's true it's not an excuse so like I I guess it was clear to me the man had cheated right?
Starting point is 00:16:37 Like it was because he went running. Or he just didn't want anybody to see that he's with somebody in his company. You know, like he's dating the HR director. It's pretty clear to me the man had cheated. Like a man doesn't run like that unless he cheated. He didn't run. He oozed out like ketchup coming out of the bottle. It was like the slow.
Starting point is 00:16:55 He hadn't landed yet. But I remember at the time, like she looked mortified, but also didn't necessarily look like, I don't know. She didn't look as worried as him. so I just feel like I mean I guess it's nice that the man said that but I kind of feel like Drew if that's true it would have been been nice prior if he'd said that two months ago right it's true but if you're him you're like who cares what you want me to do I'm not going to go on TV and just do it proud of media so what if someone asks me I'll be honest but I'm not
Starting point is 00:17:28 going to seek out the attention I'm laying low what what if the reason they got separated because she was messing around with this guy so maybe that's why he's like kept quiet for so long. You think that was the original reason for the separate? Maybe. Maybe that's why he kept quiet for a couple months. And now he's coming forward to kind of help his ex, mother, his children, you know, I don't know. I wonder, I do wonder, Shannon, I thought this to myself.
Starting point is 00:17:51 Do you wonder, like, what those people are doing right now? Oh, yeah. You know what? Because they both lost their jobs, right? And they both, I think it's going to be hard for them to get a job, at least in the same industry. do you wonder ever like in situations like that what what happens after when the whole world moves on yeah what happens to these people after it's over because i do yeah i do too i think in their case though they've got a lot of money and they're probably set for life so they're probably on a beach somewhere in a nice
Starting point is 00:18:20 you know vacation home but there's a book i read many years ago that's called so you so you've been publicly shamed and it's about what we're talking about it's about somebody who had some kind of incident happened to them and then what happens next. Remember our story about the woman who sent the text message and then went on the phone to South Africa and she woke up and she lost her job and all that stuff? Do you remember that? Remember that? That book is really interesting because it talks about that and how people try to rebuild
Starting point is 00:18:48 their lives after those moments. Just kind of an interesting thing. We will pay if you're late. You heard me talk about estate renovations. Kentucky's go-to high-in-home remodeling. Or remember, if they give you a project completion date, they'll pay $100 a day for every day they're late. Home makeovers, kitchens, bathrooms.
Starting point is 00:19:07 They're serious about gaping your project on track. So if you're ready to renovate without the typical contractor headaches, go to estaterenos.com. That's renos.com slash KSR to learn more. Staterenos.com slash KSR because they'll show up and finish the job and they mean it or they'll give you money. It's estate renovations. We'll take a break and be right back.

And we don't know when we've done enough.
Starting point is 00:20:48 Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross. Because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth? Are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different. intentions, bro.

Listen to deeply well with Debbie Brown from the Black Effect Podcast Network on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:23:20 Welcome back to your radio. It's Holger Rune, not Holger Dane. He's Danish, but his name is Rune. Yeah. So I got that wrong. He's persistent, little feller. Yeah. Well, I mean, if the 11th times a charm, I believe, is a Danish setting.
Starting point is 00:23:37 It's the same. In America, it's third, but in Denmark, it's 11. 859-28027. Let's go the phone. Who's up first? Let's go to Rick. Rick. How you all doing today?
Starting point is 00:23:51 I hope you have a blessed one. First and foremost, Ryan, my son, is your pool boy. Well, he does a great job. Is it Tristan? Does he call him? Your son is his pool boy? Yeah, Tristan's my youngest. Okay.
Starting point is 00:24:05 So does he say Ryan is a good boss? Yeah, he's got a good thing to say about Ryan. Well, that's good. Matt, I've got to be honest. He didn't like my dogs. My dogs go after him, and I've had to be careful when Tristan's there. Okay, so he does. Okay, wait a minute.
Starting point is 00:24:21 See, I knew there was hesitation in your voice, Rick. I can tell. So he doesn't like Ryan's dogs, right? No, he don't like his dog. But he says Ryan's pretty cool. All right. Well, good. What do you got?
Starting point is 00:24:37 Well, also, he said he sold you a picture of my pickup, which is a 22 Silverado. It's a University Kentucky edition that I drive around. He's been trying to steal. Anyway, what in the world is going on with the quarterback situation? Every time they go into the portal, it seems like they don't want to spend no money to get somebody that knows what the heck they're doing. This team was doing good for the longest time. and now all of a sudden it's like they can't win a daggone game.
Starting point is 00:25:05 Well, I mean, I think they've spent money, Drew. I mean, I appreciate the call. I mean, I think they've gotten, with Brandegriff and Leary, they got dudes that were very highly ranked. Kousaida was a little lower, but at one point in his career has been highly ranked. I think they got guys that they spent money. I don't know if they got their top choices always, but it just hasn't. Why do you think it's not worked out?
Starting point is 00:25:30 this season I think people are putting a little too much money into Calzada's bank account I don't think he was as expensive as a lot of people think because you're already paying cutter-bowley a lot of money and you had to keep him here this year knowing he's next year's plan so Calzada they knew they had to get somebody and you know Calzada I only think was top 25 quarterbacks in the portal rankings so he I see him they paid him you think they you I mean do you think they I mean saying numbers I have no idea about numbers I just don't know He's even the highest paid quarterback on the roster, but you had to get somebody to put with Bowley
Starting point is 00:26:04 because last year the small look you got a bully, you just couldn't put all your eggs in that basket. But Leary and Vandergriff were very expensive, and to that point, you know, those didn't work out either. So it is an ongoing problem moving forward. Those were two of the most sought-after guys in their portal classes. Yeah, I mean, I think it's a fair question. Leary and Vandergriff, lots of people wanted it didn't work.
Starting point is 00:26:25 Drew's probably got a good point. They probably split the money between, Cutter and and and and and Calzada and so far maybe not paid the biggest dividends on the Calzada part. Who's next? Kelly. Kelly, go ahead, Kelly. Hey, you got a quick suggestion on the shoe purchase for your trip.
Starting point is 00:26:46 Once you get these shoes, because I've had to break in a lot of work shoes for my line of work as a mail carrier, you can take insoles from shoes that you've already broken in and stick them on the inside of the boot that you're trying to break in and that'll give your foot a Yeah, I don't have any insoles that I've broken in. Let me ask you a question. People have said this to me in writing. You seem like a guy who would know.
Starting point is 00:27:09 Again, assume I'm stupid, all right, when it comes to this stuff. People keep telling me I need to break in the shoes. Okay, so in theory, I know one way you can break them in is to use them, but I guess the principle is I don't want to ruin my feet while I'm using them. So is there a way for me to break them in without also getting blisters while I'm breaking them in? there's a way to break in shoes especially if they're leather a little bit quicker you can soak them in some lukewarm water and that loosens up the fibers of that leather a little bit uh the main difficulty with breaking in boots is they're usually just made of a denser material than your average tennis shoe so it's gonna be a little bit rough so if i put them in lukewarm water i won't you if i put them in lukewarm water i won't ruin them i don't think so you might want to look up
Starting point is 00:28:02 that's not a total answer shoes is what you're going to have I don't know if I want to walk around with wet shoes I've never done that technique myself I've heard people have tried it and it's worked I've had concerns about ruining shoes myself though doing that which is why I haven't ever been making that can I just beat them against the wall
Starting point is 00:28:20 Shannon what can I think you can you can take them sort of flex them a little bit you know I think that would help break them out throw them down on the streets here in New York exactly yeah drop from a building? I think you're getting too serious with this boot. You're not like climbing mountains. I have a sneaker hoka hiking boot. You're not getting in the water. You just need something to keep your feet comfortable that's a high top shoe. I've been to three hiking trips with like a
Starting point is 00:28:47 sneaker boot and it's fine. You're not out there living on. What's a sneaker boot? It's breathable. It's cushioned at the bottom. Like mine are a hoka brand. They're great. I've been out for two days on a hike and it's been fine. The leather and all this stuff, you're not, you're going to do this one time and probably not wearing them again. I think you're getting a little too extreme. Well, get a good, get a good, get a good comfortable shoe. You're not a professional.
Starting point is 00:29:13 We don't have to break in leather. You just need a good high top that's durable because you're not out doing too many activities on this. I'll send you a link. He has no faith in me, does he? He has no faith. We know you. I'm sure I would get boots, put him in wall.
Starting point is 00:29:31 and then they'd be ruined. I'd be like, thanks a lot. Soggy boots. We'll take a break. Very back. KSR. Round, turn around. Come ahead.
Starting point is 00:29:41 T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J. He'll make them pay. Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. Welcome back. Kentucky Sports Radio.
Starting point is 00:29:51 859-2-80-2287. The UK football game, Ryan against Ole Miss, was the second most-watch game of the weekend last weekend. Only Michigan, Oklahoma had more viewers. 4.8 million viewers. It was the sixth most watch game of the season so far.
Starting point is 00:30:10 Good or bad. Considering how that went. Like we talked about earlier this week, you know, it's on network TV right in the middle of the day at 3.30. And all of a sudden that score pops up. Kentucky's ahead of Ole Miss 10-0. I think a lot of eyes flipped over to watch this game. Like, oh, maybe Mark Stoops can beat Lane Kippen for the second year in a row. Only do these old people watch us.
Starting point is 00:30:30 kind of put it reverse. It probably played out the worst he could, Drew, because everybody probably turned over just in time to see us fall apart at the end of the first half. Yeah, that's the bad part. With our YouTube videos, we can see the exact moment people are watching when they turn it off, when they turn it on. Hopefully when ABC sees that, a lot of second half viewers seeing, oh, Kentucky's
Starting point is 00:30:54 quarterback just hurt. Their backup came in and didn't look too bad. They're within seven. But if you're watching the last two minutes that first half, that was just making fun of Kentucky. Yeah. Yeah, that's the unfortunate part. But, you know, I mean, that's, because Kentucky plays Louisville every year to finish the year, the second or third week of the season, we are going to get a big-time game, SEC game, every single year. And because most of the other teams in the SEC have not started their conference play yet, we will get this slot a lot, Ryan. This week
Starting point is 00:31:30 two prime slot. We've now had for like three years in a row, three or four years in a row. And we took advantage of it a couple times when we beat South Carolina and beat Ole Miss. Then we looked awful last year during the South Carolina game, I think, in week two. But it's a big game for Kentucky because for some people to be the only time they watch them play all year. Yeah, and you just said that last two years we got embarrassed at home by South Carolina. and then we look like we don't know what we're doing at home against Ole Miss two years in a row. Maybe this is not a good time spot for Kentucky to end up.
Starting point is 00:32:05 But we're going to have it every year because of that Louisville game, because of the Louisville game and because UK makes the decision to play their FCS game at the end of the year, which I don't like. I think we should be playing that at the beginning of the year. But because we choose to play it at the end of the year, we will end up with an SEC game of importance week two almost every season. and it just puts a lot of, it puts a lot of importance into that game every year.
Starting point is 00:32:33 And this year, we saw what happened. What's next? Derek. Derek, go ahead, Derek. Yeah, I got a couple things I'd like to talk about if you don't mind. Do you not think as a fan base, we should be cheering for the football team to win instead of going into the game as all we're going to lose
Starting point is 00:32:54 because I feel like those guys would play harder. If they knew of room. It's not the fans' fault. There's nothing. None of this is the fans' fault. I think if you watch that game, but I think if you watch that game, fans cheered. It was loud when the fans cheered early. I don't think, I think the fans cheered.
Starting point is 00:33:14 I mean, there's a difference between saying should the fans cheer? Yes. Should the fans be pumped up? Yes. Should the fans be encouraging? Yes. That's different, though, than the second part, you said, which, is shouldn't we come into the game talking about how we're going to win? That's not rational.
Starting point is 00:33:31 I mean, we can't go into every game just going, well, we're going to win because we always win. I mean, that's just not analysis. That's just like being a cheerleader. Well, that's a team one. But my second thing is, but I mean, do you think, like you should, do we think we should not act like we're struggling ever? We should just always say go team? No, no, no, no, no, no. No, no, no. That's not what I'm I'm saying we should be trying to push them through to the win, not going in defeated without a rip. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:09 I think people did that. That goes into my second. I think that goes into my second part of the question is, you know, Sabin had so much success with different coordinators almost every season. Why can we not get to that level of success? And I'll get off here and listen. I mean, because my answer would be because Mark Stoops, Drew, is not Nick Saven. I mean, you know, some coaches produce, some coaches, the names around them change and they keep rolling because they're legends.
Starting point is 00:34:46 And then some coaches are, they lose their coordinator and things are never the same again because it was the coordinator, not them or it was the team. I think Mark Stoops has done an amazing job with consistent. consistency at defensive coordinator and producing consistent great defenses. But for whatever reason, Drew, it's just not worked out consistently on the offensive side. And you're right on the Nick Saving comparison. Stoops isn't Nick Sabin and Kentucky's not Alabama. I mean, he named the job that coaches would run through fire to get. I don't know that Kentucky's even on the top 10 when our spots open.
Starting point is 00:35:21 But, you know, it is not just compared at the Sabin. There is an offensive coordinator issue since Stoop's tenure. We've been talking about it long before Bush Hamden got here. and he even said last Saturday, I don't tell him anything to do, but there are just too many examples of it looking the same over the course of time. I mean, let's put that to basketball for a second.
Starting point is 00:35:38 Okay, if I were to say, how come Old Miss can't get the same recruits Kentucky does every year in basketball? That would seem like an absurd statement. But sometimes our football fans act like that statement, you know, we're not Alabama. As a matter of fact, let me just read you where we are right now.
Starting point is 00:36:03 I went on the SEC Network's Instagram page just a second ago. They have ranked, they've had all their announcers give their top 16 power ranking, Shannon. You're ready for it? Let's play a game. Let's go. Alyssa Lane, where does she have Kentucky? 16. Out of 16.
Starting point is 00:36:24 Benjamin Watson. where does he have Kentucky? 16 out of 16. Chris Doring, where does he have Kentucky? 16. And he's usually pretty optimistic for Kentucky. And Darynoka, where does he have Kentucky? 16 out of 16.
Starting point is 00:36:42 Wow. That's unanimous. So, you know, I had someone write me close to university saying, I don't know why you're so negative right now, two games into the season. Fair enough. But these people are objective, and every single one of them has this in the last place in the conference right now. Every single one of them. It's not like a conflicted opinion.
Starting point is 00:37:08 I think that matters. Who's next? Noah. Noah. Go ahead, Noah. Hey, Matt, I got two things for you guys, both pertaining to football. I remember a caller yesterday trying to give suggestions for songs to be able to pump up for the crowd for it. And one of me given there was the Don't Feel the Reaper from Blue Oyster Colt.
Starting point is 00:37:27 I know. I am no Chan the dude, but as someone who's been a PA announcer and DJ for sports events for six plus years, you put that song on, if I brought that song on at any event that I'm working for, there's no quicker way that fans are going to go to their
Starting point is 00:37:43 phones and tune out for the entire event if you put on something like that. I agree. So I hope that call or you'll come sometime you have a better suggestion for a song. I totally agree with it. I have no idea. Yeah. And I have no idea if this thing could even work for it.
Starting point is 00:37:58 I don't know the details and stuff with from NIL necessarily. But I think what would help potentially help with it for the football team. You get an NIL deal between A-L-8 and Shi'ash Pete. You shoot a commercial that does almost a remake from the old Dosa Kee's most interesting man in the world type way. I like it. They waited too long to make that kid known. I mean, they did. I appreciate the call.
Starting point is 00:38:26 But they didn't make it anything. of the players know. They didn't make any of the players known during the off season, and it hurts in NIL, it hurts in a lot of ways. I mean, at this point, the games are going on, so it doesn't matter as much, but that was a huge whiff. It was a huge whiff, and we called it as it was happening, and nobody seemed to care, and, you know, you still have vast majorities of the starting lineup of the team that most fans don't know, and that's, you know, the university did that. They made that decision, and they have to live with the, uh, with the consequences. Clark's Pump and Shop.
Starting point is 00:38:56 Don't commit a party fail. Get your tailgate ready at Clark's Pumping Shop. Discounts on gas. Stay up to date on store specials. Download the Clark's reward app. You can get free stuff, free coupons. They got coffee. They got breakfast sandwiches.
Starting point is 00:39:08 It's all at Clark's Pumpen Shop. Local folks, giving back to the community, sponsoring local teams. It's Clark Pumpin Shop, return, refresh, and refuel at Clark's Pumpin Shop. We'll take a break and be right back. It's KSA. Last night, a blown call changed a game. Commonwealth Causes creating a better Kentucky by shining a spotlight on the local charities. the Queen of Hearts Raffle every Thursday. The ultimate bourbon collection raffle takes place the last Thursday of every month.
Starting point is 00:43:29 $20,000 worth of bourbon. The Queen of Hearts, Ryan, plays it all the time. Have you won yet, Ryan? No. They pick my card sometimes, but it's not, I don't, they pick somebody else. Like two people could have the same card. So you're finalist. Yeah, well, but I haven't got the right one yet.
Starting point is 00:43:47 I'm still playing. I'm still trying. I don't understand what he's saying, Shannon. I pick your card, but you don't win. yeah like they've got like a deck of cards and like uh like they might pull out Shannon the dude who had card number 18 well I also had card number 18 is a card number 18 in a deck of cards I'm just using it as an example it's one through 52 it's not like a face number it's not like a jack of spades or whatever
Starting point is 00:44:14 yeah it's like one through card one through 52 that's part of your problem is the deck of cards you're using I don't know that'll ever get picked but the problem is he keeps picking 18 and Shannon going, why? It goes up to king. I've got the king of eight. Why am I not winning? I've got the 18 of diamonds. Why is this not working?
Starting point is 00:44:31 Anyway, you go to KY Causes or Commonwealthcauses.org and you can win and help local charities and win money and raffles at Commonwealthcauses.com. 5-9-28027. The UK baseball team, Drew, got their schedule. eight of the top ten teams in the SEC next year they end up with on their schedule. One person wrote on D1 Baseball, he thinks it's the hardest conference schedule any team has ever gotten. You know, they had a good offseason. Maybe we'll be one of the problems for those other teams.
Starting point is 00:45:08 No, that's true. Like, they can be competitive in it. Heck yeah. But they drew, of the 15 teams they could have drawn, they drew eight of the top ten. They only got one team, I think, that was a most. amongst the not good teams. So, you know, they're going to find out early, Ryan, how good they are. Yeah, you go to the College World Series.
Starting point is 00:45:28 You're going to end up maybe getting your schedule, a strength of schedule, increased a little bit. Today's Nick Mee and Jone's birthday, though, so that's a good birthday present. Here, here's your schedule. You've got to play all these tough teams. The hardest schedule of all time. Happy birthday. Happy birthday, Nick Mn Jone.
Starting point is 00:45:41 Happy birthday, is he? How old is he? I'm going to guess first. Is he? I don't know. Let's look. 46. I'm going to say he's one.
Starting point is 00:45:50 year younger than me. I was going to go 43. 45. What did he guess? I don't have the answer. I thought Ryan was looking it up. Are you not looking it of? I'm trying. Is that a buddy? Looks like he is. I got it. 47. 47. 47. Okay, so he's the same age as me. All right. Well, happy birthday to Nick and good luck with the hardest schedule of all time. Who's next?
Starting point is 00:46:16 Charlie. Charlie, go ahead, Charlie. I really enjoyed the show the other day when you talked about the lady in whitesburg with the yes it's an opossum it was a raccoon but I thought that was an awesome story really joy but I wasn't calling friends because I'm from up
Starting point is 00:46:44 that way what's the bad news well they'd have a little trouble because all right well I appreciate the call I think that was this I don't know what that was a joke was that a joke you think shaman I think they're an attempted a joke joke yeah yeah nobody laughed
Starting point is 00:47:25 All right. One person. He was trying. He was trying. It's okay. Who's next? Kevin. Kevin, go ahead, Kevin.
Starting point is 00:47:33 Hey, Matt. Speaking of charities, what's your favorite charity? What's my favorite charity? Yeah, do you have one or? Well, I give to the Epilepsy Foundation because I deal with it and a lot of kids do. So that's the one that I usually, when I have donations, et cetera. That's usually what I give to? Awesome.
Starting point is 00:47:55 that's totally understandable. For a flat donation or percentage, would you be willing to promote my golden auction for my game-worn, Danesle, Kentucky, Jersey? I have no idea what those words mean. What would I be able to? I don't, I hope you understand. It's not personal to you. Yeah, I can't just promote various charles and stuff, or we would be getting those all day.
Starting point is 00:48:20 No, no, I understand. I'll still make a donation. Have a good vacation, Matt. Thank you very much. Yeah, I appreciate it. It's not, listen, I hate that I, but like I get GoFundMe's and request to donate to things and request for charity. We get them literally every day. And I feel bad, but you can't do them all.
Starting point is 00:48:40 And when you pick and choose, I feel like, unless I have some tie to them, I just, I can't really justify doing it. So I hope you understand. What's next? Mike. Mike, go ahead, Mike. Hey, Matt, how are y'all doing? They're great. I'm doing well.
Starting point is 00:48:55 Matt, I've got several suggestions. My wife and I just got back from South Africa, and I know everybody's giving you some suggestions, but I want to give you some good ones. Number one, Matt, don't worry about your shoes. Get you some Merrill trail shoes, waterproof trail shoes. I bought some brand new ones before I went. They're great.
Starting point is 00:49:15 You don't have to worry about breaking them in. Number two, Matt, insect repellent when you get into Cape Town, they've got a little tube. It's not very much about $1, $2. Get you that tube of insect repell. You won't have to worry about the rest of the time. People are telling me that the bugs are everywhere. That was one of the things that they said I haven't been told enough that there are,
Starting point is 00:49:34 especially on the reserve, like there's just bugs everywhere. Yep. Well, Matt, we were Kruger and they are there, but if you get this insect repell, they'll do a great job. Matt, get you a wide-rim hat. Now, if you don't have one, you tell them right there. I got one. Okay.
Starting point is 00:49:51 I got one. Get your wide-rim hat. Another thing, Matt, that I bought. I've got some Duluth long pants are sort of stretchy pants for long pants. They're very good, and you'll get you a long-sleeved shirt. You don't wear a short-sleeve shirt out there, Matt, because they'll be, insect will be all over you. Gotcha.
Starting point is 00:50:10 I got all that. I think all that stuff I think I have. Okay. And I want to thank you for creating my niece real well. Her name is Carrie, and I think that you know maybe who I'm talking about, but on her birthday she went in and you and Ryan and so for her husband played for how mommy yes of course she's a wonderful wonderful person
Starting point is 00:50:32 thank you yeah I want to thank you for treating her nice and I want to tell you I hope you have great weather having great safari met and come home safe with plenty of all kinds of news and stories I appreciate it I will try to do all those things that's very kind of you thank you Shannon we're we have we have something we're going to have to do at the bar we have four servers now named Madison. Oh, wow.
Starting point is 00:50:56 I don't know what it is about this age. They just know. Do they all have two questions? I think women are only named Madison now of that age group. So I'm thinking about forcing them to change their names when they're in the restaurant. Can we go by their last name? What do we do? Saturday during the game, there were four Madison.
Starting point is 00:51:17 So I would ask the people, whose table is that, Madison? And that doesn't help you because there's four of them. So, like, we have to do something here. Do we make them change their names? We at least make them take on their last initial. Madison B, Madison D, Madison C, whatever it is. You can't just be Madison. They can't.
Starting point is 00:51:34 How did people 20 years ago all just collectively decide all of our kids will be named Madison? Is that what happened, Ryan? It must have been, because remember when we first opened, we had like four or five tailors. Oh, we used to only have tailors. We used to, we used to, we used to, it would be all tailors for a long time. And now it's all Madison. It's all Taylinson. It's all Taylor.
Starting point is 00:51:52 Like on a team, you know, you have the jersey name on the back at your last name. Put it on the back of their shirt. Yeah. Well, we don't, we're going to have to do something because there are too many Madison's. I think when we hired our new servers, they just said, all right, if you're Madison, you're in. You're hired. I got some stats for you. Do you know what the number three most popular name in the year 2005 was?
Starting point is 00:52:11 Let me guess. There we go. But why? Why 2005? What was it that happened in those years that made everybody name their kids Madison? All the dads got busted on Dolly Madison. You think that's what it was? Maybe.
Starting point is 00:52:24 You think their dads were posted on an illegal cheating side? Is that their daughter's for? Dolly Madison, is that like the Gallenberg version of that? It was Ashley Madison. Dolly Madison was James Madison's wife. Ashley. They all got busted with James Madison's wife. Dolly Madison site.
Starting point is 00:52:47 What are they doing that site? That's where you find grandmonds who want to swing on Dolly Madison. Thank you very much.
