We are having it, by the way, at KS. Bar and Grill. We're doing something special. $2.00 Bud lights. That's got to be good, Drew, right? Just $2 for a bud light? That's got to be amazing. Yeah, what a coincidence. I have. two dollars. It works out perfect. They're also doing three dollars they have for those Mark Stoops, margaritas. We got to sell those shit in case they lose to South Carolina and Georgia.
Starting point is 00:04:08 Oh, yeah. They'll have to rename it to something else. But two and three dollars. I feel like that's pretty good. And I wanted to say about KSbar, we are very proud. Like, I'm not just saying this. So I've always been proud of having the place. And at time, like, I'm very proud of the wings and the cheese logs.
Starting point is 00:04:26 But overall, I thought the food was good. but it wasn't great, and we wanted to fix it, and we took the time off during the break to do it, and the food is good. Like, it's really good. I'm genuinely proud of it, and if you have it, please come, and especially while I'm gone. Place needs to, we'll need business while I'm gone. We also don't have a home game for a month. Please go visit them for these games, NFL, or college football, or the Kentucky game Saturday.
Starting point is 00:04:54 But the food is genuinely good, and people have worked really hard, our staff, so please go check it out I think you will like it and if you don't we'll fix it and if that doesn't work you can punch Ryan I think those are those are
Starting point is 00:05:08 wow Ryan not hard not hard but like just like a love tap you know you've been getting a lot of belly slaps the last couple of remote I don't know I noticed that I've been quietly counting the belly slaps that Ryan it just sticks out there and I like to hit it
Starting point is 00:05:22 because first of all you have a belly but Ryan I will say it's a hard belly you have like a month the belly is like abs of steel. Ryan's belly. If you hit, if you hit most people's belly, it wiggles,
Starting point is 00:05:38 right? Ryan's is a hard belly, and I think that's why it's fun to hit because it just, like, I feel like it doesn't hurt, does it, Ryan?
Starting point is 00:05:46 You have abs of steel. Yeah, I was worried about your hand, hurting your hand, because it doesn't bother me at all. Like there's an over under on draft king's, one and a half belly slaps per remote for Ryan. Per show,
Starting point is 00:05:57 yeah. It's a new sign of a, affection, Ryan. I hope you feel that way. Oh, well, you know, bring it on. Okay. Now, she can't bring it on. He likes it. You know what? I'm excited about, Ryan, Lemon. What's that? I think the Reds are back.
Starting point is 00:06:10 Oh, come on. Oh, it's September, man. They're out. They're dead. Go. Well, let me just, just a couple facts. 16 games to go. Ryan, they're only two games back. Okay? They're two games back. The Mets are ahead of them. They're tied with the Giants.
Starting point is 00:06:26 But here's the key. They have the tie-break. on both those teams. Oh, they do? They have the tiebreaker on both the Mets and the Giants. So if they finish tied, they win. So really, they're two games back, but that's all that's all that matters. Now, their schedule, they play the A's Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Those are winnable.
Starting point is 00:06:47 Then they play your Cardinals after that. Then they play, I think they play the Pirates. They play the Cubs and the Brewers. Now, Cubs and the Brewers have given them fits for a long time. But they're in it. I'm not saying they're going to do it. They've given away games, but I was up last night. I'd given up, and I still think it's unlikely.
Starting point is 00:07:07 I think Major League Baseball hasn't been. It's a 10% chance. But they're in it, Ryan, and that's kind of exciting. The Mets have lost five straight trying to give us a chance. So they finished the season, though, with the Cubs and the Brewers? That's what they wrap up the season with? They go, I think they go. Pirates, Brewers.
Starting point is 00:07:24 Pirates, they go A's. I think they have A's, Cardinals, Cubs, Pirates, Brewer. Correct. I think that's what they have left. Yep. Yeah, the brewers may be resting their people, maybe that last series. They've already clinched the spot.
Starting point is 00:07:37 That's true. Oh, that's true. I hadn't thought about that. They may be trying to get their pitching staff in order. Uh-huh. Yep. Yeah. So.
Starting point is 00:07:43 See, I hadn't thought about that, Shannon. That's a new little you-bitty-dood. A little wrinkle. But you got to be in it when you get to that series. You can't lose to the A's. Yeah, I mean, they've got to win two of three against the A's. You'd like to have a sweep. But they've got to win.
Starting point is 00:07:56 I think you look at that, Drew, and you just say, we got to win every series, right? Two of three, two of three in all those series, and then you might have a chance. I'm more interested in if you're learning a lesson on giving up. I remember the West Coast swing. I was like, Matt, it's early August. How are you throwing in the towel? And it's, they're the worst ever. They don't even deserve to be in the major leagues.
Starting point is 00:08:18 They should go down to the miners. And now a month later, you're like, well, we're back. Maybe you should just give them a little time. A couple things have changed. Their whole pitching staff is healthy right now. Nick Lodolo fixed his stupid blister, right? Hunter Green is looking like Hunter Green. Fat Damon had a good night last night.
Starting point is 00:08:37 Then they brought this dude named Sal up. We met his dad, Ryan, at the game, right? Sal Stewart, we met his dad. That's right. I don't remember that. But he seems to have made a great impression on you. I don't know. Wait a minute.
Starting point is 00:08:51 You like didn't talk to him because you were so mesmerized by the batting practice. Oh, was during batting practice? No, I was not focused on anybody. So you don't remember meeting him. He talked to us for like 10 minutes. Did you not engage? This is news to me, and I'm standing right there. That is crazy to me.
Starting point is 00:09:05 You didn't speak to the guy? No. That was Sal Stewart. He had immigrated to America from Cuba, and he was all proud of his son, and we were talking to him. You didn't speak to him? This happened during where we're watching batting practice? That happened during batting practice? No.
Starting point is 00:09:20 I said to him, he was standing there, and I looked at him and said, congratulations on your son, and he came over and he talked to me and Tall and Mario. And did you not say hi to him? No, I had no idea this was going on. T.J. Friedel may have been in the cage at that time, and I'm not taking my laser focus off of him. This is like the kind of story he would like. He was talking about how he'd come to America and Sal had worked hard. And Sal was like the nicest, like the hardest worker.
Starting point is 00:09:46 Mario says he doesn't remember either. Well, why were you two? We're watching batting practice, I guess, because I have. have no idea. Mario doesn't remember either. No. Matt, was this a dream? It was not a dream.
Starting point is 00:10:00 Is Sal's dad in the room with us right now? Is Sal's dad in the room there? Mario may not have been over there because he was on the other side with that man rubbing on him on the other side. Let's hear more about that. Yeah, Mario, come on the microphone for just a second. Mario, tell them about the man at the Reds batting practice rubbing on you. Did you hear that, Mario?
Starting point is 00:10:20 What did he say? He said, tell him about the man, the man on the batting. practice rubbing on you. Yeah, well, I wouldn't say rubbing on me, but, like, I was next to Ryan. And then there was this dude who was, like, about five feet behind me and I seen him and he was watching. And as 15 minutes went by, he was getting closer and closer to me. By the time, it was like, we're ending out the batting practice.
Starting point is 00:10:41 He's, like, right in front of me. Like, he was like giving him a massage shame. That's what he was doing. And I'm like, bro, like, and he apologized twice. He's like, I'm sorry, sorry about that. I was like, can you stop? Like, can you give me some? his face?
Starting point is 00:10:55 That's exactly what happened. I guess he wanted to touch me or something like that. Yeah, Mario talked about it. He was leaving. He goes, man, that guy was all in my personal space. I'm like, what guy? I had no idea what he was talking about. So you didn't see the guy in Mario space and you didn't meet Sal Stewart's dad?
Starting point is 00:11:08 Nope. Nope, but I saw T.J. Friedel. Take batting practice. Shannon, that's how into it he was. He didn't let anything stop him. This man comes over with tears in his eyes talking about how proud he is of his rookie son. And Ryan's like, shut up. Matt McLean's hitting.
Starting point is 00:11:23 I don't want to hear it. Sound like a lot going on there between Ryan being mesmerized with the BP and Mario getting rubbed. There's a lot happening. I'm trying to holler at Colin Calgill to come and talk to us and get shushed. Ryan, you can't do that. Yeah, he yelled at caught. So they had one rule, Shannon, Drew, one rule as we walked out.
Starting point is 00:11:43 They said, don't yell at the players or coaches. It's the only rule they said. Yeah, like saying like, come here. Right? They were like, they're practice. Francona. But I wasn't going to yell at him. I wasn't going to be like,
Starting point is 00:11:56 really, well, you could say that? Like, I wasn't going to do that. But you know who did? Ryan. Ryan Limb. And of all people, he didn't yell at the players or Terry Francona. He yelled at the first base coach. He yelled at Colin Calgill, who played at Kentucky.
Starting point is 00:12:13 And he kept going, Colin, Colin, Colin. And the Reds guy was like, shh. This is a major league baseball team in the hunt for the playoffs. and Ryan's trying to fly down there. They're in the hunt for the playoffs, and he's sitting there yelling at people. Well, Colin's done. He did his drills. He was done.
Starting point is 00:12:29 He was just kind of hanging out there and say, hey, man, what you come over here? He didn't respond. Didn't respond. You know what I did, Shannon? What's up? I just said, go cats. And then he turned around. He did.
Starting point is 00:12:38 Yeah, he did do that. I said, go cats, then he turned around. He's a Henry Clay Blue Devil. He's one of us. You know, I wanted to talk to him. They literally had one rule, Drew. Do not yell at the players and coaches. Ryan broke it in three minutes.
Starting point is 00:12:51 I don't think he's one of you, Ryan. You say he's one of us. He's not. He's really not. You want to be one of him, I think. That's exactly right. Brian wishes he would see him. Who's next?
Starting point is 00:13:03 Pickle ball, Paul. Pickle ball, Paul. How are you? 859, 280, 2287. Fine, what's going on, Matt? I think yesterday was a horrible tragedy for our country. Talking about the football team, I don't get to listen to your show a whole lot lately. And I've been listening this morning, and it's quarterback, quarterback, quarterback, quarterback.
Starting point is 00:13:21 I've been watching this for two, three years now. Actually, in my opinion, longer than that. I don't think Tom Brady or Joe Montana would win. I don't think it's a quarterback problem. I think we're better on the line. I think our defense is pretty good. Our runners run hard. But when it's third and eight,
Starting point is 00:13:37 you throw it two yards behind the line of scrimmage or you can't get a playoff, I think there's one constant here that we've had the problem for years. It's the offensive coordinator and the head coach. And I don't know why any what they call skilled athlete, quarterback, wide receiver, tight-in would want to come play. I don't think
Starting point is 00:13:56 Zach Calzata is necessarily bad. I don't know if Cutter Polly is going to be good. Until they change the system here, I think we'll waste our time talking about who's quarterback and I was curious about y'all's opinions, especially Ryan. She has a pretty good friend leave there. Yeah, well, that's a good question, Ryan.
Starting point is 00:14:14 What do you think? I think there's some truth in the fact that our offensive line is good this year, and our running game is good this year. But for whatever reason, the passing game and the receivers, maybe not there yet. So I don't think we're going to... Put it on the coaches. Yeah, and I don't think they've got a choice. I think the choice this year is we're going to have to just ground it and pound it and run the football
Starting point is 00:14:35 if we're going to have any kind of success, and I don't think that's going to change. But I mean, you... I think it's fair to say, though, that part of the reason Dane and Berrien left is the question of whether or not they could reach their potential. here. Do you put that on the coaches? I do. I think some of the writing was on the wall that this offensive scheme was not going to change and the passing game was going to kind of diminish a little bit. And I think those two guys saw that coming. What do you mean by that? The offensive scheme was not going to change.
Starting point is 00:15:07 Like what was in what was wrong? I think the offensive scheme they currently have just focuses so much and the head coach running game. ground and pounded, move to change that way, field position, time clock, you know, to run as much time as you can. And I think they've steered away from the passing game that kind of with Liam Cohen kind of tried to put in. And I think the guys knew that with Bush coming back
Starting point is 00:15:32 and Stoop still here, things weren't going to change from last year at all. Drew, do you agree with that? Yes, and I hate saying this out loud as a Kentucky fan, but I don't know what they show wide receiver recruits. what they pitch them. When they go into a home, what are they pointing at from their, really, though? You're right.
Starting point is 00:15:53 I don't even know how they get receivers as it is. So to have Dana Berry on, I mean, I've said many times, if I were Dan and Barry on, I would have left. This has never been a passing offense where we're lighting up scoreboards and putting up big guards. It's never been that. I mean, Wendell was special. He was one of a kind, and we've had a few guys. I'm big Garrett Johnson fan back in the day. He had a good year.
Starting point is 00:16:14 But overall, this is not really a great destination. for wide receivers, period. And what's crazy? Remember when two first got here, they brought in Neil Brown to do the air raid, and Shannon Dawson was supposed to do the air raid. I don't know what happened to that philosophy, but it definitely is not anything close to that right now.
Starting point is 00:16:30 Yeah. Well, I mean, I think that's a good discussion. I appreciate the call, Paul. I mean, yeah, it's easy to say, well, it's the quarterback, it's the receivers, but maybe you just have a system that's just not going to let those guys shine no matter what. and I think it's what we've got right now.
Starting point is 00:16:49 And tight ends come here and become blockers. I mean, it's always been that way with stoops. We've had some promising tight ends, and they come here and don't do anything because they're having to help out an offensive line that didn't do its job or whatever. They don't have a quarterback and get them the ball. Receivers and tight ends have been pretty non-existent the whole time, at least putting up big numbers. Listen to Help from Hypocrat as part of the Mike Coutura Podcast Network available on the IHart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. You know I love this song, Shannon.
Starting point is 00:21:57 Yep. John Wait. Cut away. That's why it works. And I love it. And he's going to be a Burman and Beyond today, too, right? Yes, that's right. Yeah, it's a good lineup today.
Starting point is 00:22:06 Can he still hit these notes? I'll tell you in October. These notes are tough. Do you think he can? I'll tell you in October when I talk to you next. What time's he playing? Like, if I were in Louisville, I would go just to hear him. He's playing from 725 till 815.
Starting point is 00:22:25 Is he just singing this song over and over? I think they've got other songs. I think we just know the hits. You think he has other songs? Of course he's got other songs. Everybody's going to be like, shut up there. just sing missing you. Right. Yeah. I mean, that's the only reason you sit there and wait for him to play. So who else is on the lineup today? Read me the big one. All right. So today, the Luminaires.
Starting point is 00:22:44 They're the headliners. You like the luminaires, don't you, Drew? Yes, they're the reason I'm going and to see Benson Boone to a front flip. Yes, I like the luminaires. But you know, like one song from the luminaires, right? Ho-Hay. No, I know a couple. They sang at Willie Nelson's 90th birthday I went to. They sang Pretty Paper, which was awesome. That was one of my favorite performances at Willie Nelson's birthday. So you got Pat Benatar. He said Benson Boone is tonight, right? He's going backflip in his little costume.
Starting point is 00:23:15 Yeah, Alabama Shakes, who have already played. When we go back to Pat Benatar, what's her song? Heartbreaker. Hit me with your best shot, man. Alabama Shakes has got that one woman. She's got a really good voice. What's her name? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:23:31 They had one song that was big, but I played it already, yeah. Yeah, I've heard them. All right, what else? Well, the band that I think is going to be the best one of the night. Collective Soul will be playing there. Okay, so they had a lot of stuff. A lot of the song. Shine.
Starting point is 00:23:45 What was their big one? Shine. December. That's right. I'm trying to think of some of it. Cage of the Elephant. They're a Kentucky band. Now, who is Cage the Elf?
Starting point is 00:23:53 Ain't no rest for the Wicked. I'll play them next. You know that song. I'm Bowling Green, right? Yeah, that's right. And they're from Bowling Green. Yeah. And then what else?
Starting point is 00:24:00 Blind Melon. Yeah, of course, you played that. I love that. Old 97's. I don't know if you know who they are or not. That's country, isn't it? That's like rockabilly. Yeah, I think so. The rest of them, I don't think you would know. TV on the radio, you probably don't know that band.
Starting point is 00:24:13 You don't know that one. Yeah, that's pretty much it for the bands you would probably know. Okay, well, that's good. So you, Drew's going for Benson Boone, because you need to do the backflips, right? Yeah, I would dress as him if I had time to find the costume. I won't backflip, but I am interested. Yeah, I'm ready for the Benson Boone experience. Somebody wrote me yesterday, and they're kind of like me. they don't know anything about him.
Starting point is 00:24:34 I can't name a song, but they said they went to a show. It is incredible. So I'm ready to see something that I don't even know what it is, but I'm excited about it. I don't. Beautiful.
Starting point is 00:24:44 Yeah. Yeah. I, I, I butcher that, and I don't really know the words. There we go. I want you. I need you. Okay, okay. Don't stay.
Starting point is 00:24:58 Turn his mic down. Stop. Okay, that's plenty. Okay, well, that sounds like a good day. And so you're going out there, Drew. Shannon, you're going to be out there. This is my first time, right? The whole time, yeah, yep, for all four days.
Starting point is 00:25:11 Any tips, Shannon? For a rookie? Well, yeah, you could bring in an empty bottle of water and they've got, no, no, no, no, no. You want me to just come in in litter? Before you laugh, before you laugh. How generous. All right, this will move on. I'm kidding.
Starting point is 00:25:27 I'm sorry, Shannon. Bring it an empty bottle of water because. That's just a funny thing to say. You can bring it in the. bottle of water. All right. Let's move on. No, go ahead. Go ahead. I want to know why you're going to bring an empty bottle.
Starting point is 00:25:37 Because, first of all, if you're going to be drinking alcohol, you might want to drink some water and mix that in. That's good, right? So they've got filling stations out there where you can get free water if you have a bottle of water, like empty. You can't bring it in, but you can fill it up for free. You can get free water instead of having to pay $8 for a bottle of water. So can you bring a thermos? No, no, no, you can bring one 20 ounce sealed water. No more than 20, no yetis, no thermoses.
Starting point is 00:26:01 so I already have my 20 ounce water factory sealed ready to go. Yeah, if it's factory sealed, yeah, that's right. But only one of those. They don't want you bringing in vodka, though. And not 21 ounces, just 20. But it has to be factory sealed. Or empty. Just so you're not bringing in vodka.
Starting point is 00:26:19 I just like, all right, how's it work? Bring in one bottle, one plastic bottle. You're good. You laugh, and I'm telling you when it's hot out there and you've been out there for 12 hours, it's a good thing to have. It's supposed to be hot like all weekend, isn't it? Like early 90s? 85, something like that, yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:36 Oh, okay. That's not too bad. That's not too bad. All right, who's next? All right, let's go to Big Rig. Big Reg. Go ahead. How are you all doing today?
Starting point is 00:26:45 Matt, having a safe trip. Thank you. Yeah, you're welcome. Yeah. I got a hypothetical question for you. I want your all's opinion on this. When, if, so I say, Stoops is not here at the end of the year,
Starting point is 00:27:04 who would you think would be a good replacement? Me, myself, and my son think John Summerall. Yeah, I mean, I think that's what most people would say right now. You know, there's a lot of time left. I appreciate the call. I think Tulane plays Duke and then Old Miss over the next two weeks. So you win those two games, as Drew has talked about. You might not, he might be better than you at this point, right?
Starting point is 00:27:29 He might end up getting a job that's a lot better than a Kentucky job would be. everybody points to him. I think it makes a lot of sense, Drew. I think there's a good chance that if the season goes poorly, he's the favorite. If the season were to go well and then Stoops leaves, we've talked about, I think Brad White could be the replacement. But, I mean, I know the fans.
Starting point is 00:27:52 There's a large segment of fans that would want John Summerall. Absolutely. There are people out there dying for him now. I mean, you could have a scenario where you have a former player in Mark Pope leading basketball. and a former player in John Someraw leading football, both young, up-and-coming coaches in their sport. And Someraw's just got that attitude that fits to Kentucky brand.
Starting point is 00:28:12 He doesn't mind being an underdog. I think he would fully embrace that role here, and that's why so many people want him. The fact that, I mean, he's already been amazing at Tulane. Do you know him? Like, are you, is that someone you know from your old days of being here? Yeah, I covered him when he played here. I mean, I know him just from that aspect.
Starting point is 00:28:31 And, of course, you know, he was on the staff here for a little bit. he's been around. Would he know who you are? Like, are you all like a deal? Because I don't know that I've ever really had a conversation with him. I was 20 years ago when he played here. But, you know, he was a linebacker. Started for the Kentucky Wildcats. So, you know, I know him,
Starting point is 00:28:49 but he don't know if he didn't remember me or not. He likes my tweets, so I feel like we're best friends. I feel like that's a connection. He likes your tweets. Yeah, I feel like that. We're basically boys at that point. Okay. Well, that's good. He follows stuff. I mean, he's written me a couple times over the years just like messages,
Starting point is 00:29:09 but I don't know him at all because I just don't know what is. I'm wondering just on a personality standpoint because I don't really know. Yeah, I don't know a lot about him in that respect. 859-28027. We will take a break. Take your calls. I want to talk about a couple other things before I head off to different continents. Kentucky Sports Radio.
Starting point is 00:29:28 T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J. He'll make them pay. Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. So who is this? Cage the Elephant. This is the Bay from Bowling Green. So it's a Kentucky group, right?
Starting point is 00:29:43 That's right. Yep. All right. 9-2802287. Text machine 772-745254. So tomorrow, these guys will be at Clark's Pump and Shop with the UK volleyball players. Two of them, you said, Ryan? Yeah, we've got two of them. Brooklyn Delay and Molly Tazzo? Is that I pronounce her last name?
Starting point is 00:30:01 You're going to have to get her name right between now and tomorrow. Yeah. They got beat last night. They did get beat last night by Penn State. Pit had quite a run here of playing in big games, but they did lose last night. Yeah, but there's still a lot of excitement. They've got a big home weekend, I think, this weekend. So they're going to come out and talk to us and try to jump up some support for the weekend games.
Starting point is 00:30:22 And then Saturday, UK game, the game is at 730. Pre-game show will start at 3.30 from KS. Bar. We will be open all day. You can go see the guys. They'll be there with Adam Luggett. They'll be doing the pre-game show. Come say hi to them. Watch the game there.
Starting point is 00:30:41 What kind of crowd we expect in at the game Saturday, Drew? Give me percentage. The stadium will be full. Ooh, full stadium. Yikes. You want the percentage chance we can fill it or just how full I think it'll get? I'm going to say filling it 68.7%.
Starting point is 00:31:04 68.7% full. Yeah, even Ole Miss had huge, the corners across from me were completely empty for a top 10 opponent. A little disappointing there, even though the atmosphere was a little better from the week before. I just don't know that they're going to go into the game for Eastern Michigan, but I think the tailgating scene will be good. And they have all day.
Starting point is 00:31:24 It's weather supposed to be good. If it is, I mean, that's a Saturday. night in September. That's a pretty good atmosphere. It's actually supposed to get hot again. Yeah. Big game is supposed to be Georgia, Tennessee this Saturday. Tennessee hasn't beaten Georgia since 2017.
Starting point is 00:31:43 They are at home with college game day with a quarterback that's new. Are the ball is going to finally get off the schnade? No. That's my prediction that no. I will, I I know nothing about this guy. What he transferred from USC or UCLA, right?
Starting point is 00:32:01 They're starting quarterback now. Lake Alley. Georgia's got Gunner Stockton. You're talking about the Tennessee. Tennessee's got Aguilar, is their quarterback. He just transferred from like West Coast, USC or UCLA or something. Is that right?
Starting point is 00:32:14 Because that's where Laleigh went. They like to change quarterbacks, didn't they? You're prepared for this game, right? Yeah. That's why I'm picking Georgia. I don't know any of those people he was mentioning. Yeah, I don't think of most of those people, I don't think Shannon are real people that he mentioned in his prediction. I think he came from Appalachian State, right?
Starting point is 00:32:35 The quarterback. I think, yeah, I think he did. I think you're right, Appalachian State. I think Tennessee has a chance to finally get one on Georgia. This is not quite the Georgia team that they've had in some other years. Who's next? Let's go to J-Rock. J-Rock.
Starting point is 00:32:49 By the way, I'll also be watching Old Miss Arkansas. Old Miss hosting Arkansas. I might get a sense of how good Ole Miss is or isn't in that game. J-Rock. ahead. Hey. Hey, can you hear me? I don't know why everything goes so slow on this call, but I just wanted to call mad and apologize for my language on your tweet yesterday. You made a nice tweet and these dummies try to take over. Well, I appreciate it. There were a lot of dummies, but again, look at how many people
Starting point is 00:33:24 liked it, how many people sent nice comments and don't let a handful of dummies. take away your faith in humanity, or at least that's what I tried. Right. You know, Jay Rock called him out for my homie Matthew. I hope everybody's doing good, but hollum. There you go. I appreciate the call. Jay Rock was taking up for me yesterday.
Starting point is 00:33:46 I appreciated that. Who's next? Seth. Seth, go ahead, Seth. Yeah, I work in experience, and so I thought I had to kind of do a quick evaluation of Kentucky football games. Before you do that, before you do that, that. When you said I work in experience, what does that mean?
Starting point is 00:34:07 Yeah, so I work in tourism, and the idea is what I do now is sort of evaluate attractions, restaurants, hotels, and help improve them so visitors will want to come in. Gotcha. Okay, so what is your read on the UK football stadium then? I did a certification this year in a book called The Experience Economy, and I'll give you the five stages of an experience. We can, if you want to go through them. First one is enticing. I'd say they failed pretty hard, considering that they didn't give the fans any information about the team.
Starting point is 00:34:42 They didn't entice them to come to the games. We didn't know anything about it. We didn't build any relationships. Okay. Kind of failed. Next would be entering. So it's never fun entering a big college stadium, but Commonwealth is no different. Entering the stadium is not what I would call a pleasant experience, just because it's so hard to get in
Starting point is 00:35:02 and get parked. And I'd say that also goes second for all the movement with the tailgators the past a couple years. Okay, that's interesting. So I like that. Enticement entering. I agree with you. It is hard to go to those games, especially more now because of parking, et cetera. Some of that, there's not a lot they can do about. Some of that they've changed and kind of made actively worse. But okay, what's the third one? Yep. This is the easy, sadly, we have to give it an F is engaging. So the in-game experience is poor from Wi-Fi to music selection to the play on the field. We've got to be honest. You can even say that Stoops runs a boring type of offense.
Starting point is 00:35:45 It's not engaging to the fans spending money. Fair enough. I like it. What's the fourth one? And if you enter, you have to exit. And exiting Commonwealth Stadium is not fun. Oh, exiting is brutal. Exiting is brutal.
Starting point is 00:36:00 Oh, it's brutal. and then add that. So, you know, things aren't as brutal after a win, but they are much more brutal after a loss. Very true. And finally, exactly. And finally extending, I mean, you know, they don't really do anything to bring you back. So you could go all the way down to the play on the field, coaching and stuff, new coaching, new whatever. That's one thing.
Starting point is 00:36:26 But then there is, you know, I think they're going to really struggle this weekend with Eastern Michigan. in extending people to come back. Are there any ticket deals? Are there any specials? Where are people getting value to come see this team play Saturday night? And I don't think they're doing it. Enticing, entrance, engaging, exiting, and extending. A lot of ease there.
Starting point is 00:36:52 It makes it easy to remember. Well, I appreciate the call. That all makes complete sense to me, Ryan. I mean, those are, it seems like they're kind of common sense. things, but I also like how they're sort of put up like that. And I do think Kentucky does a poor job at all of those, and they all kind of, they all kind of fit in into trying to make people want to be at the game. He laid out the thought process that we've had for years about what they can do and can't
Starting point is 00:37:17 do over there at Kroger Field. Would you hire a company like that, Shannon, to do work for you? Seems like he had to figure it out to me. Exactly. I think you, they got to look into something like that. He gave you a one-minute pitch, and he won, I think, most of us over. He won't me over? There you go. I think it was because they were all eased.
Starting point is 00:37:34 I like alliteration, Drew. I always have. I kind of like when you have like a bam, a bam, a bam. Yeah, and as you all mentioned, I hope UK is actually looking into this on their own. We have professionals calling in. We have people that go to the games with suggestions, but the people that are actually making decisions, I hope they're taking this seriously.
Starting point is 00:37:53 They have to do that. Jaden Quaintance, apparently, Drew, has put on, according to UK, 40 pounds since he arrived. in Lexington. That's a massive amount of weight. Malachi Moreno has put on 20. Cam Williams 15, Jaden Hawthorne
Starting point is 00:38:11 15. We're not, excuse me, what's the Hawthorne's kids' first name? I'm sorry. I don't think I know. Braden? Braden, I said, Jayden. That is a total of, what, 90 pounds added just by those four guys.
Starting point is 00:38:28 Drew, what do you make of that? Getting them all strong or good eating? What do you think it is? With Quatant's, you might want to get that checked out. I don't know that 40 pounds in two months is a positive. I think they might have cooked the books a little too much on Quatance's weight gain. I'm not an expert, but 40 pounds over the course of the summer seems like a whole lot. But the freshmen especially, including him, I'm glad they are gaining some weight.
Starting point is 00:38:53 The numbers, I don't know that I completely believe, but we need that strength program going well, a guy like Hawthorne's tiny, that's the big knock on him. So he especially, I'm glad they're bulking up. But 40, I don't know about the 40. 40 pounds of muscle? And no, I don't think I could put on 40 pounds of fat in two months if I wanted to. If I just sat around an eight Skyline, chili and sugar cookies all day every day, I couldn't gain 40 pounds.
Starting point is 00:39:18 Think about that. If you could all day have Skyline chili and sugar cookies. Like, I don't think I would gain, I would gain some weight, but 40 and two months and it's a stretch but then you're lifting weights maybe what creatine is that what people take yeah yeah what's what's the whole hormones the p cp no it's not it's not pc i hope he's not taking pc p maybe he just hope he's got to get them under control t hc what am i talking about not t hc not bc not c bc what's the thing though that you take when you're little people when they live lights the human growth hormone the um hgh there you go there you go
Starting point is 00:40:04 lsd they're all lsd maybe just a big fan of the dollar wings and wings today at ks bar maybe just gets those he takes p sc lsd and dhc let's player threw a no hitter on lSD back in the day yeah who who is that uh what was his name ron doc ellis doc ellis threw a no hitter on lsd for the pirates yeah what was the pirates okay he's that right Yeah. Is that true? Yeah. Yeah, he admitted years later that he was high as a kite because he didn't think he's going to have to pitch that day.
Starting point is 00:40:35 Why did he take LSD the day he was pitching? He thought he was off that day. His girlfriend or wife, whoever it was, woke up and saw the paper and says, hey, they're listing you as the starting pitcher. You need to get to the stadium now after he had just dropped LSD. And he pitched a no-hitter. True story. Really? Look it up on YouTube while you're waiting for your flight today. I mean, there's a fascinating video out there.
Starting point is 00:41:00 Yeah. All right. Well, that's cool. My fight's tomorrow, but I will, I'll read about that tomorrow. Kentucky Chamber is working on important issues Kentuckyans are facing. Starting point is 00:45:20 Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever. you get your podcast. Drew Sue Drew is excited to see tonight, right? It's my guy. I don't know what this is called, but I'm ready to see it. Beautiful things. I don't even like listen to it in my free time. I just, I saw the Grammys.
Starting point is 00:45:39 It looked cool. I want to see it again. That's all. What if he doesn't flip? Oh, there will be problems at Bourbon Beyond if I drive to Louisville and I don't get the Benson Boone flip. I'll do the flip. Does he do it all the time?
Starting point is 00:45:52 I don't know anything about him. I'm just assuming that he flips, so I'm going for the flip and the lumineers. Wow. Well, if he doesn't flip, you might be very, very sad. I don't know if he's going to. Does he always wear the Freddie Mercury jumpsuit? He better. He should.
Starting point is 00:46:08 What is that thing? What do you call that? It's like an Elvis jumpsuit. It's like a body suit or something. I don't know. Leisure suit. Well, I don't even think it's that. It's like a tight body suit.
Starting point is 00:46:19 Yeah, I think that's what it's called. 859-2-80-2287. The text machine is 772-7-7-4-5-254. Kentucky. So tonight you got the Washington Commanders and the Green Bay Packers. You go to Draft Kings, bet five, get $200. We'll have it at the bar tonight with $2 bud lights and $3 mixed drinks. I think that's pretty crazy good.
Starting point is 00:46:44 And it's a good game for the NFC. Shannon, it's your team. I'll let you pick first. Who you got tonight. Go, Pac, go. they are a three and a half point favorite. I'm taking the Packers and the points. Packers and the points.
Starting point is 00:46:55 All right. What about you, Ryan? After the Packers broke Shannon's heart last week on his parlay, the former team formerly known as the Redskins, commanders come in and break your heart again tonight, Shannon. Not going to happen. That's okay. All right, Drew.
Starting point is 00:47:08 Wait a minute. Why did the, didn't the Packers win? Why did it break your heart on the park? Oh, because I had like a six-leg parlay, and all I need it was Jordan Love, 200 yards or more. He had 167 at halftime. and only threw for 20 yards in the second half because they ran the ball.
Starting point is 00:47:22 Yeah, but they won. I mean, they look great in that game. They won and played excellent. Who's next? Go ahead, Drew. Who's next? I'm next. Packers win, but I think we're in for a close game.
Starting point is 00:47:33 Three and a halfs, too many points, but Packers win. Yeah, Thursday night, Thursday night football tends to lean towards the home team because the other team hasn't had as much rest and has to travel. So I'm going to take the Packers, certainly to win. and I'll be like Shannon. I think they'll cover as well. Give me the Packers. Who's up next?
Starting point is 00:47:53 Tyler. Tyler, go ahead, Tyler. Hi, first time caller. Who are? I wanted to make a comment about Jaden Quentin. I saw his video that they put out earlier this week, I guess it was, of him jumping a little bit. As a physical therapist, I know that we're going to get four weeks down the road and there's going to be a bunch of people upset that he's not playing.
Starting point is 00:48:20 So I just wanted to throw this out there that he still has several things he has to get through before he's playing in a college basketball game. What do you mean when you said? So he was jumping off two legs, landing on two legs. So he's got to be able to, one, control his knee because the knee was still caving in, which is how you tear your ACL to begin with. So he has to keep working on that. He's got to be able to go side to side.
Starting point is 00:48:50 He has to be able to jump off one foot, land on that foot. Then he has to be able to do it while getting bumped in the air and not knowing what his landing situation is going to be. So you do this, right? You're saying you do this work. Yeah. Okay. Well, I mean, like, but you don't just because that video you didn't seem to do it doesn't mean he's not doing it. Right. I mean, just because it wasn't in that video,
Starting point is 00:49:18 doesn't mean that he's not doing those things. That's true, but there's a protocol that you follow. And I'm just saying a lot of people won in there for the Louisville game, and that's very ambitious. Yeah. So I've heard it out so people don't get mad in a few weeks. Yeah, I've heard on a personal level, and I appreciate the call, Drew, that they're targeting January as the hope.
Starting point is 00:49:47 I don't know if that'll be when it is, but that's the target. We'll see if that ends up happening. I don't think anybody necessarily thinks he's going to be playing in November, at least that I have heard. Have you? No, and people got a little freaked out because a few days ago, Pope made some comments.
Starting point is 00:50:05 I think maybe Rothstein or somebody that said Quaintance is nowhere close to contact, which sounds a little scary. but that's also the timeline they've known from the beginning. So there's a little bit of overreaction to hearing he's not close to contact, but they could have told you that months ago he wouldn't be contacted now. Everything's still on plan. It's just he's, I think Pope said right now the next three weeks with him are a lot of just strength training, and he's still far away from actual basketball.
Starting point is 00:50:30 Yeah, I think that's, I would say think about January and base your starting time on that. Who's next? Junior. Junior, go ahead. Yeah, I want to circle back to yesterday's conversation about Calvada and Bowley and the money we spent. I'm sure in Bowley's mind, he thought he was ready to be the guy. Probably. And the bigger question, going forward, what's his latest stone Saunders and Matt Ponatowski?
Starting point is 00:51:04 Well, they have to get over there. I mean, no, but guys don't sign. with the very rare exception. There might be one or two guys a year. True freshman out of high school don't sign expecting to start right away. And if you start true freshmen out of high school right away, chances are you ain't going to be very good. So, I mean, Ponontas. I buy that.
Starting point is 00:51:25 Stone Saunders, those guys can't expect to come in and start year one. That doesn't happen. I agree with you on you can't expect to start right out of high school, but you should think if I'm Stone Saunders, that, hey, I'm going to be quarterback three, then I'm going to be quarterback two, and then I'm going to be the guy. Why can't they think that? Why can't he think that? Because Stone Saunders went from should have been two to back to three, because we brought in Calvada.
