All right, good morning, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, grandpaws, and grandmalls,
aunts and uncles, welcome to this Monday morning edition of Kentucky Sports Radio.
It is Monday, September 15th.
Cats coming off a big win. How about that?
Yeah.
A little shout out.
Off the big win on.
Saturday. As always, the Connecticut Force radio sponsored by the T.J. Smith
Law Office, called T.J. Shannon, what happens? He'll make them pay. He will absolutely
make them pay. We got our Clark... We're not knowing how to set up the studio this morning.
Well, we'll get to that. It's quite the puzzle.
Clark's puppet shop phone number 859-2802-87. We want a lot of calls today. We're going to
play Monday morning quarterbacks. We need a lot of calls. 859-280-2287. And Drew
Franklin, the A-Vision Glass text machine number is
Oh, I can remember this easily.
502, 7, 35, 36, 80.
Amen, that's very good.
I can't believe your stupid system worked, but that has been in my head since Friday's show.
It makes no sense.
Well, you came up with the system how to distinguish between Aaron Harrison and Andrew Harrison.
Aaron spells his name with two A's.
He is number two.
But there's at least, like, people can follow that one.
There's correlation to that.
There's correlation to this one.
There's nothing.
502.7.
Like the 7 is out there on an island of its own.
5 plus 0 plus 2 equals 7.
Okay.
Well, we got it.
502, 7, 35, 36, 80.
I think Mario may have to help me unlock it.
I can't unlock it.
You may have to help me over here.
We're going to play Monday morning quarterback.
Kentucky, a 25-point winner,
48 to 23 over Eastern Michigan.
For those of you who bet the draft king spread early in the week,
you got it at 24, 24 and a half.
23 and a half
23 and a half
For those of you
Wait a don't kick off
You got it at 26, 26 and a half
And boopoopee-do
You didn't get the cover
After that late touchdown
By Eastern Michigan
Had some people on the post-game show
Not too happy about it
But I'm gonna say what it
Kind of said on the post game show
Then you guys take it your thoughts
Call it a feel good game
Call it a get right game
I don't care what you call it
It's the beginning of the cutter-bowley era
To me he's your quarterback
He's the guy you got to go with
He proved himself enough to me
I believe the Cutterbury, Cutter Bola era started.
Color. Cola Bola. Cutter Bola era started on Saturday,
and they just need to hand it over to him and let him go.
The defense maybe not as good as it's been in the first two games,
but eh, we can maybe fix some of that.
Drew, what are your thoughts?
I'm with you. I'm also excited about the Cullabola era.
But no, Cutter looked good, especially look good getting to the tight ends.
That's how you knew he grew up watching Kentucky football, Ryan Lemon, is that he got a chance.
He got the rock in his hands, and he said, where's my tight ends?
These guys need the ball.
Those are his buddies, his roommates.
They each got a touchdown, led the team in receiving.
Overall, Cutter just looked a little more composed and comfortable.
I mean, he's the red shirt freshman.
And respectfully, Zach Calzata, he looks like the guy with the most experience.
He just looks like the better option right now.
And even though Stoops wouldn't commit to that, I don't think it's any doubt that it's
Cutter going to be the rest of the way, or at least for the foreseeable future.
Shannon?
Overall, I think things were good, not great.
Still gave up way too many points to a really bad Eastern Michigan team.
Gave up too many first downs.
Gave up over 300 passing yards to them, which I think is inexcusable for a team like that.
Cutter, I thought he looked comfortable.
He looked confident out there.
Again, I thought he was good.
I didn't think he was great.
But to your point, I think that probably moving forward he is going to be the guy.
So overall, satisfying enough win, but not something that I thought was over the top, great.
Would you agree with that?
Or do you think –
I agree with that because I think the defense – I mean, I even predicted they were going to throw a shutout.
I thought the defense would keep that team out of the end zone, but they got some things they got to work on a little bit.
Maybe they were trying to prevent some stuff, playing just prevent D too much.
But as far as cutter goes, I mean, the offense, like you guys kind of said,
just seemed to be more in rhythm, more in tune with everything.
you know, none of this confusion at the line of scrimmage,
nothing calling the wrong play.
It seemed like not only did Cutter play very well,
Bush Hamden called the right plays for Cutter in the game.
Yeah, definitely.
No turnovers, that was good.
If you want to talk about some Bush Hamden,
maybe it's Mark Stoops.
Didn't love the end of the first half if I can get a little nitpicky there.
But with Cutter, the offense,
it's just night and day difference from those first two games.
I think, you know, afterwards Stoops was like,
Well, we'll reevaluate and see who we'll go with South Carolina.
You know, I think a lot of people wanted him to just go ahead and commit to Cutter there.
I see that as him kind of being delicate with the Cowesada situation.
I want Cutter, but I feel bad for Calzata.
Seven years, gone through injuries.
He goes down to FCS, works his way back to the SEC after several years,
finally gets a shot, gets that didn't go too well first two games,
especially has that shoulder injury.
I just think Stoops is kind of being careful of not just flipping the switch to bole
and saying sorry about it, Calzada.
That's going to be a topic of discussion in the next two weeks.
Kentucky's off this week, so we've got to buy week before we play South Carolina.
Why not just go ahead, Shannon, and name Cutter your starter.
Let us get excited about the future of Kentucky football and name him your starter.
But I think Drew's right.
I think they want to protect Calzada, keep him engaged.
Because in the SEC, your quarterback's going to get hit.
Your quarterback's going to get hurt.
You need Calzada to still prepare like he's going to be the starter.
And that's what he said.
That and that's what Cutter Bowley said after.
the game. He said he prepared every game that like he was going to be the starting
quarterback. And I think that, yeah, South Carolina game, you've got to start Cutter.
The question is, and I hate to keep saying this, but I feel like it's a scenario that could
happen. What if Cutter doesn't look good against South Carolina? Then what do you do? Do you still
stick with Cutter? I think you probably should at this point, but it's a dilemma I think that
Stoops is going to have at some point this season. I mean, that's why he gets the $9 million a year. But I'm in the
But Cutter is our starting quarterback.
The Cutter Bowley era is here.
Run with it.
Make the announcement.
Let the fans get excited about it.
You got two weeks, get ready for South Carolina.
Who lost their starting quarterback.
Lenora Sellers in that game to Vanderbilt, which we'll talk about in a little bit.
But I think you want to, I know you don't want to keep Calzada engaged, but also you want to prop up, cutter and get him confident.
Especially if he's your future quarter.
If he really is the future of your program.
no offense to Calzada, you're not looking backwards, right?
You're looking ahead.
So if Cutter is your guy, you truly feel that as Mark Stoops,
I think you got to stop worrying about how Calzada feels.
You know?
I mean, it's kind of blunt, but you've got to win games, right?
If you're Stoops, you've got to win games.
And I feel like that's probably what he needs to do is stick with Cutter.
Yeah, and I'm with you. It needs to be Cutter.
It's not as much Zach's feelings.
It's that you don't want him to just, you know, disengage and look at this as a throwaway year
because you might need him again.
This is SEC play.
Even though Cutter look pretty good against Eastern Michigan,
we don't know what he's going to do on the road in the SEC.
It's probably going to be Cutter the rest of the way,
but you don't want Calzada to just scoff and, you know,
get disappointed and check out because you might need him.
And to his credit, I didn't get to watch the game broadcast.
I was there, but I went back and tried to watch as much as I can.
There was a lot of you all that watched it on TV.
It looked like there was a lot of Calzada helping Bowley on the sideline there,
which I thought was very good because that's such a tough spot for him.
Injury, he probably knows.
that the kid's about to take his spot,
but at least from the TV broadcast,
what I saw of it,
he was right there on the bench,
helping him with everything
when Cutter was coming off the sideline.
Yeah, there was a shot at the end of the game
where Calzada came up to Cutter
and they're standing there and they're smiling
and you can tell Calzano,
Calzano's giving him like a, you know,
dabbing him up a little bit,
patting him on the back,
I think complimentering.
That's where Calzada can be valuable to this team,
be a mentor, a coach, and be ready.
Because like I said,
Cutter's going to get hit.
There's going to be a time he's,
going to have to leave the game, and you need Calzada to come in and do us.
So I think it speaks highly of Calzada's character that he seems to be acting that way,
and I hope he does continue to act that way.
He's a girl, man, you know, he should be mature at this point, right?
He's in his 30s.
I mean, come on.
Now, you did, we do need to talk about what happened to the end of the first half,
because once again, the final four minutes of the first half, two-minute drill.
I mean, you're up 28 to 6, and you gave up 10 points in the last two minutes of the first half.
So my beef with the end of the first half this time, not necessarily with the offense, but with the defense.
They looked kind of their worst right then.
It's like they just packed it in, thought maybe Eastern Michigan was going to settle for a field goal, and they ended up scoring a touchdown.
The defense gave up the big touchdown.
Their hands aren't clean of this, but I'll put it on Mark Stoops and management.
I mean, it's happened too many times to blame the defense this one time.
When Eastern Michigan scored the touchdown, you know, there's a minute change left.
I even tweeted, would anyone be surprised if they got the ball back and scored again?
They did.
Kind of joking.
You predicted it.
But also, let's all keep our guard up for this.
Nope.
Scored right again.
Another three points before the half.
Didn't Stoops like burn a timeout before an extra point?
He did.
It's stuff like that where you're just looking at each other like, what in the hell are we doing?
Like, why would you even need a timeout before an extra point?
What could you possibly have to figure out in that moment?
Unless someone just, unless your guys just ran out there and, you know,
who just completely didn't know where to be.
But that wasn't the case.
they just burned a time out there for nothing at the end of the half.
Game management again, Shannon, kind of reared its ugly head and cost them some points.
Yep, and we heard, you know, Stoop saying that those were mistakes that we could fix.
And I think his words were fixable.
But if you're not going to fix them, that it doesn't matter.
You know, it's how do you go about approaching the mistakes that you made in the previous game
and correct them moving forward?
And we're still seeing a lot of just game management boneheaded moves that are frustrating.
We've been, again, we've been talking about these for years, it feels like,
but we still see them game in and game out.
I'm just convinced at this point that those things aren't going to fix themselves,
and we're just going to have to just somehow find a way to win with in-game poor management, basically.
I don't know the rule on this, but what would happen if with three minutes left,
we just went to the locker room and took delay of games?
It can't be worse, right?
It can't be worse if you have 10 points and 10 minutes.
But let's just say, you know what, we're going to go on back,
get a head start on halftime, because obviously we suck at these last couple minutes.
Is there any way we could do that?
Can you just kind of forfeit a little bit there in the last few minutes and come back for the second half?
Because I think Kentucky would be a better football team.
I'm sure Luckett or Nick Ross or somebody has probably already done this.
Get the score.
Kentucky's given up in the last two or three minutes of the first half in the score.
They scored and they gave up.
I started on that project.
It's a big project because it spans several years.
That's going to take me a while.
But I have a spreadsheet with the beginnings of trying to track that.
But the offense, I think overall,
seem to be more in rhythm. I think there seemed to be a little more pep. Of course, the tight
ends are going to love this office. You know, we've been screaming for years. Start
to the tight ends. Start of the tight ends. Well, you got it now. Willie Rodriguez catches
the touchdown pass. Josh Caddice catches a touchdown pass. And then that other
tight end caught one that got called back with Henry Boyer. Yeah. Almost had three different
tight end touchdowns. When has that ever happened ever? Three tight end scored touchdown.
When is the last time two tight end scored a touchdown in a game? Maybe never.
Yeah. I mean, what do you think happened that got the tight ends going? So has there been anything in
that position to change lately that would maybe get the...
Maybe who's been the coach recent years?
I don't know.
I don't know what could have possibly changed to get them going, but it's been fun.
I will say they need to get the receivers going a little bit with them too.
I mean, the tight end's good.
We like that.
But we need a little more out of the receivers.
Farrier had a bad drop.
You still got the tight ends leading you in catches, which is exciting, but you don't
want that to be all year.
Law looks pretty good, though.
He had got a couple good touches, a long rush.
It's fast, kind of like we expected.
Kind of the Barry-on-Brown-Row.
Just get him the ball and see what he can do.
in the middle of the game, I even said out loud,
we need to put an all-point bulletin out for Jamari Macklin.
Like he was non-existent.
He catches one pass late for like 35 yards or whatever it was,
but he was supposed to be the number one guy committed the season.
Non-existent.
Hester didn't catch a pass.
I think Farrier caught one or two.
Yeah, he called out his drop.
He did have a big catch too.
So, but yeah, the tight-ins.
You've got to think guys like what, Jacob Tammy and C.J. Conrad and Ben Bates
and he's former tight-ins,
to scream, where was this when I played?
You know, Isaiah Cummings?
Who was Zip Duncan?
Zip Duncan? My goodness.
That's an offensive lineman from the Joker era.
Where did you pull that from?
He came as a tight-in, I think.
Keating up Shaw?
I thought that dude was grok.
That's another good one.
Yeah, these guys were thinking, where was this last couple of years?
Well, as we expected, the bolly buddy system was rewarded.
The leading receivers were Gilmore, Rodriguez, and Caddus, and those are his closest friends.
Cadis made some awesome catches.
got robbed of that touchdown.
He did get robbed of a touchdown.
He could have been that Draft King's rare two touchdown game by Josh Caddice.
Great Caddus game.
He blocked well, too.
Took a couple heads off.
So that kind of sets the plate.
It is a Monday morning quarterback.
We want you to call.
We'll take as many calls we can today.
Kind of pro-con, yes, cutter, no cutter.
And they've got two weeks now.
Two weeks let Cutter take this as all the snaps with the number with the ones to get ready for South Carolina.
A trip down there, a team that lost their quarterback.
And that lost to Vanney, which we've got to talk about that.
I can't believe Shannon picked South Carolina.
Carolina over Vanderbilt and KSR Parlay.
So we'll come back. This is
Connecticut Sports Radio. We've got to go to a break.

Welcome back, Kentucky Sports Radio.
Shannon playing the Beatles.
I assume you're playing the Beatles because you saw Ringo Star yesterday.
Was that right?
Partly that, and I felt like it was a little better what we saw on Saturday
than, you know, what we've seen the first couple of games.
But, yeah, Ringo was awesome.
I was talking during the pre-show about that.
If you have a moment in your life where you realize,
it's a special moment as it's happening.
And I realized, looking up there and seeing Ringo, who's 85 years old and doesn't look
a day over 40, I was like, you know, this is the first time I've ever seen.
I'm probably going to be the last time, too.
So I took it all in.
It was really cool.
Well, both you and Drew spent time at Bourbon and Beyond.
I pulled into town last night at 11 o'clock about to pull into my house.
I texted Drew about the show today.
He's like, he's still at Burbin and Beyond at 11 o'clock last time.
When did you get home last night?
Pretty late.
Got up at 6.
Wasn't a great weekend of sleep for this guy.
I think.
Team no sleep.
Saturday was a 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. for the game.
Oh.
Then I spent the whole day at I Heart Louisville yesterday.
That was a good time.
You know, Shannon, I'm not really in there.
And yesterday I had to go for cover zero.
And I went really early to set up, just make sure I'm good.
So I got there like three hours early, watch football.
But no one was there.
So it was just me time at the I heart studio.
But then after I'd been there a couple hours, I heard a little, little,
A little noise in the back.
Way in the back.
I'm like, uh-oh.
Somebody's there.
It's over.
The party's over.
Somebody's here.
And I kind of give it a minute.
I thought it might be somebody cleaning.
Then I hear a voice.
And I was like, wait a minute.
I think I know that voice.
Start walking.
Trying to find the room.
There's all these rooms in studios.
I'm like, left, right.
I think I'm getting closer.
And there he was Rick.
Rick.
I've never met Rick in person.
So yesterday I got to meet the legend, Rick.
I didn't get to spend much time with him because he had to produce a show.
But there I was having my little eye heart
party by myself and then Rick showed up and I finally got to meet him. It felt like I know him
because of this show but never met him in person. I'm sure he's wondering what the heck are you
doing in here on a Sunday afternoon in the Louisville building? Absolutely. If I'd known he would
have been there, I would have brought wine. If I could have had a great day. But yeah, I did all day
at Iheart and then made it over for the end of Goo Goo Dolls, walked in right as they started
Iris and then caught Noah Khan and then slept a couple hours and here we are. Wow. Well, you
mentioned cover zero. I guess did Matt join you successfully from South Africa? He did. Yeah. He
He got linked up.
He told some fun stories.
The flight, it won't surprise you one.
He didn't love the flight.
He wasn't a big fan of the flight.
He said, however far you think South Africa is in your mind, it's much farther.
Oh, yuck.
He did tell a good story, though.
I guess the area he's in isn't the safest.
But he said directly across the street, there's a yogurt store.
It said, look good.
Bright lights.
Look like some good-looking yogurt.
Yeah.
And then he started to leave.
And the hotel's like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, where are you going?
He was like right there to get yogurt.
and they're like, let's get someone to walk with you.
Just to go across the street.
He's like, what? It's right there.
I'm a grown man.
And they're like, no, no, hang on.
He's like, no, this is unnecessary.
I'm fully capable of walking to that yogurt shop.
He said he crossed the street.
It's pretty empty, but he kind of had his guard up.
Like, that was weird.
Then they got to the yogurt store and they're like, how did you get here?
And he's like, what is going on?
They ordered his yogurt.
And they're like, do you need someone to ask you back to the hotel?
And at this point, he's like, all right, now my radar is going off.
Like, what's going on?
But he said, no, and he walked back peacefully.
But he said it's been fine and the area is fine, but that little incident of like, do you need an escort?
He's like, I did.
It was a little weird there for a second.
But he's enjoying it so far.
He's safe, just had that kind of awkward moment on his yogurt run.
That's all it would take for me.
Yeah.
When somebody says to me, if I'm in a part of town I'm not familiar with and somebody says, do you need an escort?
I'm taking it.
The answer is always going to be yes, because I assume that they know what they're talking about and they're asking me that for a reason.
So, yeah.
Wow.
But he's good.
Yeah, I don't want to scare anyone.
He's already moving on to another area.
area today and doing their fellowship. That was like a one-off moment. He's in a good area today.
But he was like, what is going on down here that I can't walk across to get my strawberry yogurt?
See, how the fellowship actually started yesterday, I think, Sunday evening, and we'll run all this week.
And then after that's when he had gone on his safari. Did he mention if he got his boots, safari boots? Did he get it?
I didn't ask him about the boots and the pants. I assume he did. I did have one moment. I couldn't help myself, Ryan.
But I know, because Matt and I've been tagged in a lot of tweets about this throughout the weekend. But the
secrets out on the Mario impersonation.
Yes. He's been tagged in too many. I see him. He sees him. I know it.
So I asked him if he heard it. And he was like, no, but tell me about it because he knows.
It's awful. He doubled and tripled down on the pre show this morning. I heard him on the
pre show. They're encouraging him. They're people telling him that it's a great impression.
So they're enabling Mario to actually think in his mind he does a great Matt Jones impersonation.
And I tried to tell him as a friend, look, it's really not that good. But people,
keep saying it's great and now he's going to keep doing it well shan he did it on our pregame show
yesterday made his predictions it wasn't necessarily his impersonation but his content was really funny
but see but that's half of it though like yeah they're doing impersonation a lot of people get the
voice down but don't have the content i think mario's got the content but doesn't have the voice
but you got to have both to make it a good impersonation well we had quite the pregame show with him
uh giving us asking us our percentage chances of this and percentage chances of that and
doing his mat thing.
But Cover Zero, the new, you recorded the news.
Should be out right now. Yeah.
Should be out now already?
It's weird.
When you work for like a big company, like the National Football League, they don't
just let you post the podcast.
You have to send it to them for them to listen, maybe tell you, hey.
Oh, wow.
Hey, that joke wasn't good.
Don't do that.
Clean it up a little bit.
So there's post production.
We've never done that before on our podcast, but it should be up right now.
They do that overnight.
They have like a team that's up at three in the morning that gets all their NFL.
I don't want that job.
I do not want that job.
So check that out the new edition of Cover Zero podcast.
Speaking of it.
That's not happening here.
You guys say what you say and it goes right up on the podcast.
There's no thought that goes to do it.
No.
I've already had a joke removed.
I thought it was a great joke.
I'm not going to say it to get me in trouble.
I'm saying on this show.
I better not.
You had a big day though yesterday too.
I did.
Speaking of the NFL.
I went to the Colts Broncos game in Indianapolis,
which ended with one of the craziest finishes you're ever going to see.
Colts line up for a game winning field goal from 60 yards.
Miss it.
Broncos are celebrating games over.
Broncos win, they threw a flag for leverage where they said one of the Broncos defenders
pushed down on one of the Colts linemen to help him elevate into the air.
They called leverage on a game-winning field goal.
So with no time on the clock, they moved the ball 15 yards.
This time the dude from Colts kicks it, hits it.
Colts win after the Broncos had already celebrated, thought they had won the game.
It was crazy.
But I went to see Devon Key.
Yeah, we don't care about the outcome of the game.
We all have ESPN.
Tell us about Devin.
How was that?
Devin plays on all the special teams, had like three tackles.
He was special team player the week last week for the Colts, for the Broncos.
I'm sorry.
And he thinks he may win it again this week because he played well.
So, yeah, great to kind of spend after the game.
He went down in the tunnel and got to hang out with him a little bit, so got to see him.
So, yeah, the Devon Key fan club who's been on this show.
I think you got the KSR bump.
Yeah, last summer.
Last summer.
He was on the last two summers.
He's played well for the Broncos.
He went to our Red State remote.
He did do.
He came to the remote that one time.
What about the other key?
He had another big game.
he caught a touchdown pass, three games
at Nebraska, three touchdowns,
went over 2,000 yards for his college career.
I mean, I'm going this weekend.
Nebraska hosts Michigan this weekend.
Undefeated Nebraska playing in Michigan coming in.
I'm going because Kentucky's off this weekend,
so it kind of looks out perfect.
So we're going from the Devon Key fan club
to the Dane Key fan club.
Pretty awesome going back to back on the key trips.
I don't know how the parents keep up with it.
I don't know Dante Nicole, man.
They're like, they don't even know what day it is sometimes.
They're just traveling all over the country, but you got to.
This is, you know, you don't want to miss this time in their lives.
Oh, last fall I was coming back from a trip.
I didn't remember what random airport I was in.
There they were in full Broncos gear on their way to like Seattle or something.
Well, Nicole rolled back with me and Josiah after the Broncos game in Indianapolis.
But then on Friday, we're all three on the same flight going to Lincoln for the Nebraska-Michigan game.
So it's a crazy life that they're living right now.
On Dane, I'm happy for him, but they tweeted a picture of him, and the crowd's all behind him, his arms in the air, and it says, like, this dude's built different.
Yeah.
Even though I'm happy for him, I was kind of like, mm.
I know.
And it's just so red.
I think it's the red that makes it worse.
It is a lot of red.
It is a lot of red.
So, well, we'll talk about the receiver woes, but we only got 20 seconds.
I got to tell you something else I saw at the Colts Broncos game that kind of really puzzled me, but I want to ask you about it.
It's 8.5.287.
that's a.
Clark's Publishop phone number.

Gugu Dolls here.
Yeah.
All from Bourbon and Beyond.
Shannon, Drew just told a story that he stole his wife's t-shirt that he's wearing today.
Right now.
That's all right.
She just bought it last night.
She probably wanted to wear it today.
Yeah, yeah.
I think it's totally fine to do that.
Yeah, we went to look at merch.
She said, do you want anything?
I said no.
She bought a Noah Khan shirt.
Good for her.
This morning I woke up.
Saw the shirt.
It's like, you know what?
I changed my mind.
I think I like that shirt and I'm going to wear it today.
It's also good when you can fit in your wife's clothes.
Oh, she likes the big baggy.
She loves an Excel sweatshirt.
I encourage buying those because those become, oh, yeah.
Same with the XL T-shirt.
Thank you, Abby.
So you got your Noah Khan Abby T-shirt on.
I'm surprised you didn't wear your Tyler Childers Abby hat.
Also hers.
Also hers, yes.
Krogerfield Tyler Childers concert.
We go to look at merch.
You want anything?
Who, no, that's expensive.
She buys something.
We get home at that point.
The price tag's not on anymore.
We already own it.
Now it's mine.
So Shannon's got a three-day
break and then you got larger than life coming up on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
You've already been brainwashed by Matt. It's louder than life.
Louder than life. Here's the thing. I'm to the point of my life to where I've got to be out there for
eight out of 11 days. I know I can't be there from noon until midnight for all eight days. So I just
have to kind of pick and choose and I have to go out there and do the broadcast, obviously.
Then I'll stick around for a few bands. Then I'll go home and cut out early because if I'm going to
make it for that many days straight, I can't do 12 hours every day.
Like, it is exhausting out there.
It was hot, too.
So I know, Drew, you were asking me for recommendations on what to bring.
Bring sunscreen.
Because I got sunburnt out there from.
My head got sunburnt from just being out there all weekend long.
But it's a lot of fun.
It gets going again on Thursday.
And, Drew, if you want to come back out, I'll get your tickets.
I don't know.
Are you a metal guy?
I need some recovery.
I'll make you're a metal guy, though, are you?
I'm an event guy.
I'll go to anything.
I just like to people watch and have fun.
But I'll say this about Burden Beyond.
I have one complaint.
I had a great time otherwise.
Didn't really wait in any lines.
Traffic was pretty good.
I did general parking every night, and I was a little worried about getting out.
Didn't really have any issues.
All smooth, except having it on concrete, my goodness, I hurt.
I still hurt from Thursday show.
I wasn't even there that long.
Just standing on concrete for that long.
My lower back is just killing me today.
So I didn't have to deal with the heat much.
I went at night.
Most nights, I know that was a big problem, but the concrete is what kicked my butt.
So what is it about the concrete?
is it just because it's
I mean like if we're grass
would you not have back problems the same
or I'm not being a smart
I might actually honestly there's just
and like you have to have a pass to bring a chair
and there's not like just seats sitting around
you don't really have an option to sit unless you just want to flop down
on the ground heck my back hurts anyway
but I will need
several weeks to recover just from doing
three hours Thursday and three hours last night
yeah fun time though
shout out bourbon and beyond I'll be back
Noah Khan was great
Benson Boone is the greatest
entertainer of all time. It's not even close. Great time.
Let's see third eye blind out there. Last time I saw those guys, we were playing a show with
them. Oh yeah. That's right. You open for them. That's right. They were great.
One of my friends sang with foreigner yesterday too. Corey Hunt. Shout out Corey Hunt,
Kentucky fan. Just saw on Instagram. He's warming up with foreigner. I didn't get to get there in
time. But you know, sometimes I guess you just got to hop up and sing with foreigner.
859-280-227. That's a Clark's Pumby Shot phone number. We've got a couple of callers we want to get to.
but before we stray too far away from the Colts Broncos game was yesterday.
I got something happening to ask you guys about.
So it was the first time Josiah had been to Lucas Oil Stadium.
So we made a lap around the main concourse, just kind of soak it all in.
And the number one jersey we saw, by far, not even close, was not just a Peyton Manning jersey, Colts.
Peyton Manning Jersey Broncos.
All these Manning 18, all these Bronco Manning jerseys, and.
Colts Manning jerseys. It was a little weird.
I thought you were going to tell me it was just a bunch of Daniel Jones jerseys
because I'd believe that too. He is Peyton Manning, but I didn't think about that connection,
Broncos Colts. I mean, by far the number one jersey was a Peyton Manning jersey,
but you didn't know if it was it going to be a cult jersey or a Bronco jersey?
When you and Josiah were walking around Lucas Oil,
where you pointed out that this is where Kentucky's going to win their next championship
here coming up? He saw that. He saw where the Final Four is in Lucas Oil this year,
and he's pointed it out
and he goes,
oh,
the final force here this year.
Maybe we can come back
and watch a game.
Yeah.
Yeah.
We hate that place,
but I'd love to get back
in April.
So here's the other thing.
Guess what the second most jersey I saw?
Not the paint man.
What's the second most jersey I saw
at the Broncos versus the Colts in Indianapolis?
Oh,
I mean.
It's not close.
Current player.
Jonathan Taylor.
No,
I'm going to go.
Andrew Luck.
That's a good guess.
Tim, you got a guess?
Jacob Tammy.
Pat McAfee.
Oh, God.
I am not kidding.
I am not kidding.
I could have done without even talking about that guy.
The former Colts punter, a number one Pat McAfee jersey,
was like the second most jersey I saw at the game.
Yeah, I could have said here all day, guessing.
I wouldn't have made that connection.
You know, he was not even that good of a punter, I don't think, in the NFL.
But he's such a become a superstar now in the media.
the Pat McAfee jersey was everywhere.
Shannon, you said you're not a big Pat guy?
No, not at all.
Not after he got into that spat with Max.
It's true.
No mess with Max.
No mess with Max.
Exactly.
I didn't think Pat was pretty good on Game Day.
I don't watch Pat either during the week, and he's not Corso,
but the way he starts like the home crowds chant and they take it over, that's pretty neat.
I'll give him one compliment.
I mean, I didn't like him to begin with him.
When he got into that thing with Max, it just put it over the top with me.
So I was like, no.
Didn't like him on WWW.
which I don't watch anymore anyway,
but just not a fan of the guy, really.
But I guess he's good at what he does, apparently,
or he wouldn't be hired by all these different companies.
859-2802-287.
Let's get our first phone call, Shannon. Who we got?
Scott.
Scott. Go ahead, Scott.
All right, good morning, guys.
Hey, I'm with you all favorite Trudder should be our quarterback for the season.
But you also got to remember that Stoop is playing for his job.
So is Crutter the future of Kentucky?
if Stubbs not there?
Appreciate Scott.
I think so.
I think Cutter is just,
we're just seeing the beginning of what could be a really great
SEC quarterback.
That's just my opinion.
I've been team cutter all pretty much the whole time.
And I just think it's time.
Time to give him the keys and say,
go do it, son.
Yeah, you were way out in front of this.
I got to admit, he cut out that call,
so I didn't hear his actual question.
I think he's trying to say that Stoops is trying to save his job also,
trying to win games.
Do you go ahead and even though,
your quarterback's the future, maybe you can't win you the games this season?
If Stoops were really playing a card game for his job, you would almost save Bowley as the end of the year.
Like, well, I still have this shiny toy over here, but he can't do that at this point.
But I have the cutter excitement.
Being in that stadium Saturday and tailgating before, there was cutter excitement everywhere.
He passed that first test.
I know there's a few things he can improve on, you know, staring down his own first option several times.
He's kind of held on the ball.
A little nitpicky things.
It's eastern Michigan.
but he passed that test
and there's a reset button on that offense
and an excitement, even though it's week three, you already
hit and reset, but it did cover up
some flaws in the first two weeks with Calzada
leading the show. Shannon, what do you think?
As far as Cutter being the guy moving forward,
I think that you probably just
stick with him right now until he gives
you a reason not to, right?
I mean, why would you take him out
and put Calazada in just because
he was, you know, your QB1 going
into the season, but you get Cutter,
who, I mean, again, it's Eastern Michigan,
but I think you let him roll and go as far as you can with Cutter
until he gives you a reason not to.
See, I'm that way.
I want to go to this back and forth stuff.
Give it to Cutter.
Go through some growing pains if you have to,
but just make him the guy.
Let's just go with Cutter now.
Let's take another phone call.
Who we got, Shannon?
Let's go to Joe.
Joe, go ahead, Joe.
Hey, guys.
I think Cutter's in.
Not that Stoops folds under BBN pressure,
but I think the pressure's on for him to foot cutter in.
And also, we got shore up that defense.
We gave up 10 points in the second half was a minute and 50 seconds.
And I know soups was boiling over that, but we got shore up that deep.
And real quick on the Bengals, I don't know, I saw this clip this morning.
I don't know if anybody saw it.
But Cohen was trying to get a signal at it to Trevor Lawrence.
Trevor Lawrence turned his head and blew Cohen off.
So Cohen might be done in Jacksonville after a season.
Appreciate it.
Yeah, I saw that video clip where Trevor Lawrence kind of waved off Liam Cohen from the sideline.
That's not a good look.
No, and I'm an NFL expert, so I'll take this one.
I work for the league.
Yes, you do.
No, I was spying on Jacksonville message boards and social media.
Those actually exist.
They're very worried about the Cohen Lawrence.
rift.
Like these two, you know, it was so exciting to get an offensive coach.
Yeah.
Try to give Lawrence new life because he kind of hadn't lived up to what they're paying him in the hype.
And they thought they had something working here, but those two were fighting all afternoon.
At one point, the one that went viral, Cohen's like slapping his chest.
I think he's telling Lawrence to hit his receiver in the chest.
He just had a bad throw.
They should have included the next clip because Lawrence hit Brian Thomas Jr.
Right in the number on the go line and he dropped it.
So Jacksonville is just, they were tripping over each other in a game.
they nearly won before Jake Browning led the big bingles drive.
Crazy week in the NFL.
Of course you are the NFL expert.
Yeah, I work for the league run.
A lot of points.
I saw what the lion scored over 50 points and every score I saw like it was lit up
the scoreboard.
Well, if we want to keep it Kentucky related, our guy, Wondell had a big day.
He did have a big day.
Now, I was on the other side of his big day.
I was rooting against Wondell and he had a big touchdown that I thought won the game for
the Giants, a couple of minutes left.
but that game was bananas.
They scored two more touchdowns after Wondell's.
They had 44 points in the fourth quarter in overtime.
And for everyone that saw it,
the Cowboys kicked a 64-yard field go to force overtime.
That game was nuts.
But Wondale had over 100 receiving yards in a touchdown.
We could use a little Wondell, somebody in the slot like that.
And so that's something that somebody sent me a note last night.
Why not try the Quisimberry kid in the slot,
see if he can get with just what he can,
do. See if you can get open and do some things that Wondell used to do.
Kind of the same type of player.
Do you, is it time to maybe move on and give the young guys a little shot?
Everyone in that room should be getting looks because no one has created any separation yet.
So sure, try somebody out.
Like said, Law, they've been adding to him his workload a little more each week after we didn't
hear from him in the first week.
I think we're going to keep seeing more of him.
One more shout out from the Giants game.
I don't want to skip.
Drew Phillips.
Did you see he and C.D. Lamb have like.
a rivalry. C.D. Lamb said, I've got
something for Drew Phillips today. Really?
Drew Phillips heard him in another game. And then
Drew Phillips, like, tell him, I got something for him.
And he picked off a Dak Prescott Pass.
So we got a cat
beefing with one of the best receivers
in the NFL. And even though he didn't win the game,
Drew Phillips got a pick yesterday.
So two former Kentucky players
making plays for the Giants in that loss.
In the loss to the Cowboys. All right.
We'll take our break, come back. Go back to the phone lines.
859-2-80-2-8-7. We're kind of
playing Monday morning quarterback. So if you got a thought,
About the cats, they got two weeks off now, so they play at South Carolina,
859-280-2287.
Ryan Drew and Shannon, we're right back.

Welcome back, Kentucky Sports Radio.
Shannon, did you hear Drew crying and whining about his bad back?
Oh, my bad back.
I wonder how he can get that repaired and fixed.
Well, I would go to the place that fixed it a few years ago.
Court physical therapy.
Oh, there we go.
Yeah, they're good for your back.
When it comes to your physical health, you want a physical therapist you can trust.
That's court physical therapy for over 35 years.

Okay, Ryan, Drew and Shannon here.
Hockey Sports Radio 859, 2802-2287.
Our boy Van Hiles, who is on like every media platform now, I guess, has just retweeted this.
That's a weird rate over the last decade for tight ends.
Up until this season, the highest target rate was in 2020 at 19%.
The target rate for tight ends right now, 34%.
I like it.
I love it.
We've been screaming about it for years.
But of course, you know, like we said, are the tight ends of the past probably screaming, well, like, why wasn't this available?
A couple people tweeted in on the AVision Glass text machine.
We forgot James Whalen, great tied in.
I saw somebody even on the text machine that tweeted in Matt Lucas.
Remember when Matt Lucas was Kentucky tied in in the 80s back in the day?
You're playing the hits.
So, yeah, I mean, that's not going to change.
I mean, whatever cutter has got a comfortable ability, comfortable, he feels comfortable with their tight ends.
There you go. You mentioned Brendan Bates, who just played at Kentucky.
I mean, he was here four years, played a lot.
He maybe had two touchdowns.
He plays for the Cleveland Browns now.
He was on the Bears as an undrafted rookie, made some catches.
I mean, it's like we've had the talent.
Just hadn't worked him in.
But now, whether it's bowling forcing it to his best friends or Hamden's offense,
it's nice to finally see some tight ends getting some catches around here.
You know, I saw Jordan Dingle playing for South Carolina this weekend.
I had forgotten he transferred to South Carolina, and he was on the field.
So let's talk about that South Carolina game for just a minute.
Kentucky's got two weeks off.
They got the buy week this week.
South Carolina, their quarterback got hurt.
Lenora Sellers.
I don't know if he's going to be back.
But it's almost like you're catching South Carolina at the right time.
If you've got two weeks to prepare, Cutter now has two straight weeks to go with the ones,
kind of get more comfortable with the offense and get them in rhythm with the receivers.
And you may be going into a South Carolina team that's kind of coming in,
limping into the game because they looked awful against Vanderbilt.
They did.
It was a head injury for sellers.
So we'll see how that goes.
The game's two weeks away.
He might be back.
But that was an unexpected result, even with him out.
Almost makes me worry that South Carolina will lock in and get laser focus for a bounce back against Kentucky.
I guess they'll have a game coming up.
But I almost wish that South Carolina were still ranked.
I mean, if we're going to beat them, let's go down there and beat a good team.
My takeaway from that game was how dangerous Vandy looks and having to make that trip later in the year.
Diego, Pobby, I thought he was going to take a step back this season.
Man, he's fun.
I don't know if you saw that block he made on the reverse,
but he's just out there having a time of his life playing quarterback for them.
There's a great story from the game, and Shannon and Mario already talked about it on the pre-show,
but we got to talk about it on this show.
Vaughn? What's his name?
Theo Vaughn.
The podcaster.
He's got like a million followers on social media, so people know who he is.
Tell the story, Shannon, because I love this story.
Yeah, so it was during the game.
I think it was the third quarter.
Theo Vaughn is just over on the side.
Dodd-Luna. I think it was Cole Kublich who went up and talked to him.
And Diego Pavia said to Theo Vaughan, hey, if we beat South Carolina, I'll get you a date with my mom.
Now, some people probably don't want, I think a lot of people probably don't watch Vandy games, so you may not know.
But Diego Pavia's mom is...
Mommy Squammy.
Yes, as Ryan Lemon would put it, Mommy Squammy.
A lot of guys think she's a beautiful woman and would love to take her out on a date.
Theo Vaughn, I guess, is one of those.
Vandy demolishes South Carolina, and now Theo Vaughn is tweeting out,
where should I take her?
So that's the story.
I love that part of the story and the fact that he's talking to Cole Kubik about it
and it becomes a topic of conversation in a game that's a blowout because Vanderbilt won the game.
So now Theo Vaughn gets to take Diego Pobvi, the star quarterback,
his mom out on a date, as promised by his son.
Yeah, good for Cole Kublich to bring that in the bright.
A lot of people wouldn't have touched that.
No.
They even show him he's kind of like point at Theo.
when he's on camera, like he's about to do it.
Theo leaned into it, especially with the tweet after the game, like, where are we going?
It's a little weird, but it's a fun bit for college football.
That's why it's the best sport.
There's just stuff like this every weekend that's outrageous.
And then Diego's going to have to call Theo dad if it works out in the end, you know?
Could you imagine that?
Well, they always show Diego Pavia's mom usually in the crowd.
So if you watch a Vanderbilt game, you know, and she's an attractive lady.
So I can see why Theo may just have a love match right there, right on the sideline
of the Vanderbilt game.
Well, I guess that's one way of putting it, yeah.
I can't believe, by the way, Drew, Shannon picked Vanderbilt to lose that game.
Here's a thing, yes.
I will admit the Virginia Tech pick was a stupid, horrible pick, but it's Old Dominion.
I didn't think Old Dominion had any kind of football team.
Apparently Virginia Tech doesn't either because Old Dominion blew him out.
All right, that's a bad pick.
But everybody's glossing over the fact that Ryan picked South Carolina minus three over
Vanderbilt, and Vandy won by 1,000.
So that was just as bad a pick as mine.
So, yeah, you and I are both to blame this week.
I thought Shannon gave you that pick, Ryan.
Shannon told me to pick South Carolina over Vanderbilt,
so I pick South Carolina over Vanderbilt.
I think Drew said...
No, you said, I can't pick against Vanderbill, right?
Mario's agreeing with me.
I said, I cannot pick against Vanderbilt,
but you could pick it if you want to.
We were all happy with our picks on Friday.
We made them.
Drew is supporting my South Carolina pick over Vanderbilt.
I wasn't happy with the pitch.
But I knew your Virginia.
tech over SMU. Old Dominion was a bad pick.
I just knew that was a bad pick. Well,
I didn't want to make you look bad. What do you know about Old
Demanduan football? Tell me what... They're good.
They're good this year. One player. One player.
Frank Jones. Frank Jones does not play
on there. Matt Jones on every team.
Am I carrying the parlay all season? Yes, you are. I'm three. I'm three.
I'm two and one. Ryan's O and three.
One and two. We'll be right back. This is Kentucky Sports Radio. Don't go away.

This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me.
He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue with 42.
Hey, rec, my mama want you to wave at her.
What?
Hey, Miss Parker.
