Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

I'm Michelle McPhee, and I've been unraveling the strangest criminal alliance I've ever reported on.
A Mormon polygamist and an Armenian businessman.
Multi-million dollar house, Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, a billion dollar fraud.
But how long can this alliance last?
Tell me what you know.

Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

Now, here's Matt Jones.
Good morning, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, grandpas and grandmalls, aunts and uncles,
and welcome to Kentucky Sports Radio.
Ryan Lemon, Shan, the Dude, and Super Mario Maitland here.
And we are broadcasting live today, Main Street in Mount Vernon, Kentucky,
where they just started the Hunger Walk, the Christian Appalachian Project,
hosting their 14th annual Hunger Walk.
And Shannon, they just started it right before we kicked off the show.
And there's like 1,300 walkers right now right behind us doing the Hunger Walk.
It's kind of impressive.
Yeah, it is.
And it's for a great cause, as you pointed out there.
And I got stuck behind this.
We talked about this on the pre-show a few minutes ago,
but I got stuck behind this big parade.
And almost didn't make it here because of the Hunger Walk.
I didn't know they were going to start at 830 in the morning.
morning, but here they are. We're right here on Main Street, and there's three other ones
going on throughout Kentucky today as well, right? Yeah, McCreary County has theirs today, Jackson
County, and then there's also one in Fayette County for LCA, so you kind of hear him walk
behind us. A lot of the Rock Castle County student body came out to support the walk. We're all
wearing their orange shirt, orange is the color, to help fight hunger. A lot of orange. A lot of orange.
So they're also collecting critical funds, non-perishable food items to support vulnerable
communities in Kentucky. That's what the Christian Appalachian Project is all about. The Hunger Walk
has just kicked off. And you can still help. I mean, we're going to take throughout the show
ways you can help, but it's right now the walk walking right behind is here on Main Street.
Go ahead, Mario. This is so cool, man. Like, have you guys, have you guys ever done like a walk
or, I know you did that marathon? I don't want to make this about me, but yeah, I have done a 50-mile walk.
I never, I never knew that about you. Yeah. So this little walk around downtown is probably
nothing for you. Why don't you just jump right in there?
Well, I could, but you know, I feel like I have to be here to help, you know, carry the show with you guys.
Show Mouse Dungeon. You can hop in there.
Here's what's sad, and we'll get to the show. We've got to tell you why we're down here.
One in five children goes hungry every day in Appalachia in Kentucky.
Yeah, yeah. When I read that this morning, I was like, wow, I had no idea.
That is an eye-opening stat when you hear that. And it is really sad.
That is very sad.
There are a lot of kids where the only meal they eat all day is the school lunch.
Man, that is terrible.
We got to do something about that, man.
Well, that's what the Christian Appalachian Project is all about trying to do that.
So you can donate today by visiting Christianap.org.
That's ChristianAPP.org.
So we are live here in Mount Vernon.
We don't do too many shows from Mount Vernon, Kentucky.
We did one at the Farm to Table Restaurant a couple years ago around the corner.
What's the name of that restaurant?
The Farm to Table Restaurant.
Somebody will tell us what you there.
I have no idea.
But I think that was it.
I think that's the only show we've ever done down here in Mount Vernon.
Yeah, and I don't even know if I was here for that one.
So this might be my first one here.
And it's a beautiful part of the state, by the way, if you've never been down here before.
What do you think of when guys, when I tell you Mount Vernon or Rockcastle County?
And I'll tell you what I'll tell you what I think of immediately.
What do you guys think of?
Well, I'll tell you, I was doing a little research on Mount Vernon.
Yeah.
I didn't know this until yesterday.
Do you realize the city I live in, Mount Washington, originally was Mount Vernon.
And they changed the name from Mount Vernon to Mount Washington.
Wow.
And then I think they maybe, I don't know if it was after the fact, then changed the name of this town to Mount Vernon.
So the people of Mount Vernon basically a lot strongly strong-armed you guys in Mount Washington.
Is that what it was?
We wanted to be tied into George Washington.
I got you.
Well, we want Mount Washington.
That's what it was.
Mount Vernon was his home?
George Washington's home?
I mean, do you not remember our Bullitt County day that we highlighted everything about Mount Washington?
And I told you that Mount Washington was called that because George Washington,
love the town so much they called it Mount Washington which mayor may not be true
sometimes I just make things but on the show today it's true what do you think of when
you think of Mount Vernon or Rockcastle County I don't know much about Mount Vernon I know
pretty much it's a small town and that usually in Kentucky all the small towns kind of look
alike that's what I've noticed have you ever seen like a hallmark movie oh yeah
you have like the downtown yes that's like every small town in Kentucky kind of could be shot
right here in Mount Vernon it's beautiful that is true yeah it is very hallmarky I think
of Redf Row Valley, though, we were talking a little on the pre-show as well.
The country musicians from the 80s and 90s that play in this area.
So that's also one of the other things I think about Mount Vernon.
What are they holding?
They have these trays in there.
What is the trays for?
I think it's for food.
Oh, okay.
That's why it's a hunger walk.
Okay.
I guess are they picking up their donations?
They're going to give it all to Christian Appalachian Project when the walk is over.
Okay.
But now, like, we had the high school kids.
Now we're in the elementary school kids that are walking past us right now.
And there's a bunch more coming up the street.
But I'll tell you what I think of when I think of Mount Vernon and Rockcastle County.
And this is kind of unfair, but it's just what I think of.
Yeah.
Awful traffic on I-75.
I mean, this is where the traffic always backs up.
This is where there's always a wreck.
This is where there's always construction.
The two Mount Vernon exits in Rock Castle County, you come up on them and you just hold your breath trying to get through them.
Well, I wasn't going to complain about the traffic, but I came down here last night,
and there was construction for what felt like about 100 miles coming down here.
It's always under construction out here in Mount Vernon.
Well, it should have taken me about two hours turned into about three hours because I got on the GPS.
You know, you get on the GPS.
The Jeepist.
It goes, hey, take a route over here.
So I go, okay, let's take the back roads.
We'll get there, you know, a little bit quicker.
And I go off on the back road, and there is a police car that is blocking both lanes.
And I'm sitting in traffic again for another 30 minutes.
So it took me a long time to get here last night.
Well, like I said, this stretch of I-75 in Rockcastle County seems to have been under construction for 30-50 years.
30, 50 years?
Yeah, and it just never stops.
Hello there.
But you mentioned Renfro Valley.
Some of the top country music stars of our lives have performed over there at Rinfo Valley.
If you were a country music star from the 80s or 90s, the long-forgotten era,
you either played at Renfro Valley or you're going to still play there.
You're about to play there coming up.
As I was telling you during the pre-show, there's a lot of, well, Sammy Kerr Show.
We just talked about who played the Kentucky State Fair is going to be coming into Renfro Valley with Aaron.
and tippin and Colin Ray, Kentucky headhunters, a bunch of those 80s and 90s musicians.
Have you heard of me in those guys?
No, I've never heard of them.
I've never heard of one person that you guys just mentioned.
I bet we could find one person that's performed at Renfro Valley that Mario's heard of, at least
or somebody, because they usually get the big stars that come in.
Mario is so young.
And that's, see, having Mario on the show just makes me remember how old I am.
Yeah, because he doesn't know.
We were talking about 90s musicians and 90s bands, and he hadn't heard of, I think,
half of them.
ACDC.
I played Stone Tipple Pilots for him and he thought it was ACDC.
No matter what rock song I play for Mario, his stock answer is.
I tell you to C.D.C.
It's like the only rock band that he knows from, you know, longer than 10 years ago.
Well, they're still kind of relevant.
They play them at stadium.
A lot of games.
A lot of games.
ACDC.
So the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame is over there at Renfro Valley.
Yeah.
They always have a big ceremony every year.
I think the judge were just inducted or recently or maybe Wynonna one of the judge,
but it seems like I remember that being part of it.
So it's kind of a cool little area down here that kind of gets forgotten about.
And also somebody reminded me, I think it's like one of only three counties that is not named after a person.
Oh, really?
Bath County, Rock Castle County, and I don't know the other one.
It might be Union County.
Okay.
But I think there's three counties in Kentucky that aren't named after a person, so somebody can help us out maybe in answer that question.
In Kentucky, we like Washington and Lincoln.
Yes.
Everything's Lincoln.
Everybody tries to claim Lincoln as if you were their own.
you know there's a lincoln bridge and lincoln county and linking this linking that so everybody wants
a piece of lincoln that's funny you said this i had this on my list of questions i just saw it
go cats somebody just yelled go cats go cats what cities are there are the most of the united states
like what towns are named the most after a certain person in the entire united states top three
uh what cities not not streets okay i know streets i got an answer for streets well i would
say Lincoln would probably be one.
I don't think it's one of the top three.
Oh, it's not? Okay, Washington.
Washington is number one by far.
Kennedy?
No.
Streets, I know Martin Luther King, Jr., like that's in every city.
Every city.
Yeah.
Especially every large metro area.
It's got a Martin Luther King Boulevard.
You might as well just give me the answer because I'll be here all day.
Well, the number three is another historical figure, but not a president.
Not a president.
On the $100 bill.
I don't have enough $100 bills, Stephen.
No, Benjamin.
Franklin.
Benjamin Franklin.
No, just Franklin.
Just Franklin.
Washington is number one.
Franklin's number three.
And I always, every time Matt asked these questions, I always guess Springfield, because there's
Springfield in every state.
Springfield's number two.
Yeah.
So Washington's number one, Springfield's number two, and Franklin was number three on this list of
most common city names in the United States.
So kind of funny you mentioned that.
I had it on the list today to talk about.
All right.
We're going to take our break.
The phone lines will be open.
It's kind of going to be one of these shows where anything can happen because we've got a bowl up
here. We've asked all the people in attendance to submit a question.
We're going to randomly draw out of this bowl and answer the question that they've had.
We have no idea.
Everybody here.
I'm a little nervous.
Yeah, I saw you during the pre-show going around with a bowl.
I thought you were taking an offering like we were at a church.
And instead of, you know, offerings, he was handed out pieces of paper and pens.
And we've got some questions.
We've got some questions.
We don't know what's in that bowl.
No idea.
A little bit of questions.
But if you come to the show today, you can write a question down and we'll try to answer them.
Also, the phone lines will be open.

What's 5 plus 0 plus 2?
7.
What's the rest of it?
3. A lot of 3s is in it.
35.
35.
36.
36. 8.
80.
80.
You're right.
Now put it all together because nobody comprehended that I'm sure that's listening.
Yeah, I don't think that helps.

Good to see you, buddy.

There you go, some Kentucky headhunters.
They've probably been in Renfro Valley.
No, they are.
I listed them.
I'm going to say the groups like that probably perform regularly over at Renfoe Valley
it's kind of a hidden gym in Kentucky really welcome back to Kentucky Sports Radio
Ryan Lemon Shannon the dude Mario Maitland we got Liam running the controls today
Matt of course is in South Africa he's been posting some stuff on Instagram
seemed like he's doing well this is his week of his fellowship and then next week he starts
his kind of his vacation over there where he's going to do the safari yeah that's going to be
that's what most of us want to hear about you know I need an update on how he's doing with this group of
women. That'll happen next week with the safari. Okay. Yeah. Right now he's part of his
fellowship group and he's been posting some stuff you may be able to keep up with that a little bit.
I did see Mario's video that he posted of I guess it was from the NFL show where Matt was talking
about going across the street to get yogurt and talking about how he needed a chaperone just to walk
across the street there. I love that video because I can literally envision Matt like I can I can
picture Matt in that situation I'm like oh Matt's not going for this he's not going to let
somebody go with them across the street. Well I mean if you're in that situation where you don't know
where you're at.
Yeah.
And you don't know your surroundings.
And somebody asks you, do you need security?
Yeah.
They're asking you probably for a good reason.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So I think in his mind, he thought, well, you know, maybe they're just trying to get a tip.
I don't need it.
I don't need it.
There goes Mario with his really bad.
Because I don't know if you know, but Matt knows more than the Internet.
We've heard that in Pittsburgh.
He said that to us before.
We have heard that.
So, you know, people down there maybe know a little more about the security issues going on down there than maybe Matthew does.
Maybe he should listen to him a little bit.
I'm thinking.
Yeah, and you think that's actually going to happen.
Have you met Matt?
I just don't know that getting strawberry yogurt would be worth risking my life for it.
Yeah, he's a big strawberry guy.
Yeah, so.
All right, 859-2802-287.
That's our Clark's Publishaw phone number.
We're going to take your calls today.
We've got some questions, random questions out of the bowl.
We're going to draw probably one a segment.
We'll do that in a minute.
But we did, Shannon and I did talk about on the pre-show something I want to talk to you about, Mario.
The cutter-boleera, bye week, going down to South Carolina next.
Stoop's not the greatest coming off of by week.
What are your thoughts, concerns about where the program is this week
and going into South Carolina and then next week?
I think Mark Stoops usually doesn't do well after the byweeks.
He doesn't.
He does not.
What's the record, Chaining?
Six and ten overall, five and nine in SEC games.
Wow.
South Carolina's quarterback is hurt, right?
Yeah.
Is that right?
So I'm trusting Cutter Bowley and what he can do.
I'm trusting our defense.
We definitely got to improve on that side.
No last time we played.
Eastern Michigan had, you know, a few bad mistakes at the end of the first half.
I'm entrusting more of our defense.
And like I said, I'm sticking with cutterbole.
I know they don't have their quarterback, South Carolina.
It's going to be a tough environment because South Carolina is a different, it's a different animal down there.
But like I said, Stoops has a chance.
It's a big chance for him to really kind of turn the page in terms of the fan base.
It's a big test for Cutter Bowley as well.
So, Shannon, do you can take the numbers where he's bad coming off a biweek?
Or you take the numbers where he's like one eight of the last 11,
against South Carolina.
Which way do you lean a little bit?
I think there is something to be said for the bad record after a by week.
I think that shows a lot in how you prepare.
We talked a little bit on the pre-show.
He's going to change things up a little bit this week.
They're going to go heavy in the weight room.
They're going to go heavy in practice.
They're not going to really take this a true week off.
So I think that that right there shows that he's willing to make some adjustments.
And hopefully we're going to see the result of that be a win against South Carolina.
And talking about sellers, he's quick.
questionable.
So that means 50-50.
Maybe he'll play, maybe he won't.
That really doesn't tell us one way or the other.
What's going to, what it's going to look like for South Carolina when they get on the field with their offense.
But, again, if you look back at that Vandy game this past weekend, they laid out the blueprint on how you beat the South Carolina.
So the way I look about Stoops changing his philosophy during his bi-week, anything can help.
Why not try it?
Why not try to go heavy?
Prepare this week.
Don't give your guys rest.
Don't play a lot of second-team guys.
prepare as if you've got a game this weekend.
It's one game.
It's one game. Go heavy this week.
And, of course, you've got game week next week.
It can't hurt, Mario.
No, I don't think it can hurt, man.
I don't know.
Like, I feel like, what were they doing in the past?
Like, obviously.
I think he was, like, giving the starters a rest, let them heal up.
Do you rest on by week?
Play a lot of number twos during week in practice,
and then pick it back up next week.
If you're Mark Stoops, though, I mean, you're going into the season.
Whether or not his seat is actually hot or not,
it is something that is perceived to be.
hot by fans because fans obviously weren't very happy with the way that last season
happened.
So if you're Mark Stoops, you've got to throw everything against the wall, I think this year.
Yeah, that's the big game.
So anything you can to mix things up a little bit, fire your guys up, you've got to try it.
We'll know about sellers probably this weekend.
South Carolina plays Missouri.
If he's held out, I guess then the questions really ramp up for game week from Kentucky
going down there.
But they're a different team without him.
They could not do anything against Vandy after he got hurt.
Yeah, I mean, it was 7-7 when he got injured, and then at that point, they brought in their backup quarterback, and that's when Bandy just took advantage of him.
And, you know, I think it's only fair.
If we're going to play our backup quarterback, they should have to play their backup quarterback.
It's only fair.
I like our backup quarterback maybe better than their backup quarterback, though.
I agree.
We haven't really talked to you about.
What are your thoughts about what cutter boleys, the cutter-bole era is underway?
You know, I'm a fan of him.
I've got a chance to talk with him in June.
I believe he came on my podcast.
Man, he's not really like all about him, him, him.
Like he cares about his teammates.
He has good energy and he's super, super confident.
He likes playing football.
He's in love with the game.
You can tell that when you watch him when he's on the field.
He looks like he's actually having fun out there.
I love the fact that he likes to throw deep balls and, you know, take that risk kind of a little bit different than Calzada.
But other than that, man, I like Cutter as a person.
I think he's a good dude and, you know, he has a lot of promise for his future.
All right.
We're going to get our first question out of the question bullet.
Oh, okay.
Everybody here has written a question.
This could be dangerous.
One of you guys pick a question out.
We'll just take turns.
We're getting one each.
No, just we'll just do one a segment.
Shannon's got the first one.
What's your question, Shannon?
Did Lamar Wilkerson commit?
I think this is for Ryan.
Here's the story I got.
That night before, he told the Kentucky guys, I'm coming.
The next morning, Indiana made an offer that was,
better than what he got from Kentucky.
Money was better, and I think they also offered
somebody with his circle a coaching
position or a position on their staff.
So overnight, it switched.
That next morning, then he went to Indiana because they came up with
a better offer.
So I think we had him for, like, maybe, what, eight or nine hours?
And then it switched, though, you know?
And then the next morning, that's the thing I've learned about
recruiting men.
These 18, 19, 20-year-old kids, they change their mind overnight.
That is true.
You know, we've seen it happen a lot of time.
You commit to somebody, then the next morning, like, nope, I'm
flipping them.
Somebody else.
You put your name out there.
I did.
I felt good about it.
You put your reputation on the line, and then he flipped and made you look bad.
He did.
So does that make you proceed with caution in the future when it comes to maybe scooping, you know, being scoop lemoned?
This may sound crazy, but it doesn't because I trusted the source.
The information was good at the time.
We went on with KSR that he was committed to Kentucky by the time KSR was over.
He had flipped and committed to Indiana.
So you are 100% confident in that moment.
He was all in on Kentucky.
But then somebody, you know,
brought in a suitcase full of money and said, here, what do you think now?
And I think a lot of it was just offering that somebody within circle a spot on the staff.
I think that played a big part of it.
Was it his dad or something like that?
I can't remember if he's dad or his uncle or A.E.
I really don't remember who it was, but somebody within his circle.
So that's our first question out of the question bowl.
1-859-2-802-287.
We are here in Mount Vernon, the Christian Appalachian Project Hunger Walk.
They just walked past us.
1,300 people, a lot of students, high school kids, elementary kids, doing the hunger walk.
One of four hunger walks in Kentucky today.
Are they coming back around or are they just doing it around the city?
I think they're just doing it around the city.
And when they go by the school, the kids will go back to class.
Okay, cool.
Very cool.
But, you know, we're all wearing orange.
They all wore orange.
It's not a Tennessee orange.
No.
It's the Hunger Walk orange.
It's almost like a Halloween orange.
It's a red orange.
Yeah, that's right.
Yeah.
So we can wear orange for the show.
Yeah.
Maybe that's the only time we ever wear orange, but we can do it in the show.
859, 2802-287.
Yeah, just for these two hours here.
Yeah, I wear orange.
I want to go back to football for just a second.
Okay.
A stat that we haven't talked about that I think is kind of underreported,
Kentucky's been in the red zone 15 times.
They've scored 14 of the 15 times in the red zone.
That's even with Calzada at quarterback.
What do you give credit to that to?
What are we talking when you say score?
We're including field goals.
Correct.
field goals or touchdowns, 14 out of 15 times they've got points.
Being disciplined and not getting any penalties.
Because the most frustrating way to not score when you're in the red zone
is by just unnecessary penalties.
So that tells me that they are disciplined offensively,
at least when they're in the red zone,
and not getting unnecessary penalties to take them out of the red zone
and able to score.
What about you, Mario?
I feel like last year we had an issue with that, didn't we?
You were kind of like in the red zone.
We never really, you know.
Turnovers, spambles,
A lot of different things happened last year.
Turnovers, and this year it looks like they've improved on that.
I'll tell you one thing.
From last year to this year, offensive line is a little bit better.
Defense is a little bit better.
I think offensive line is a lot of it better.
Yeah.
And quarterback, I mean, I'll back up quarterback, cutter Bowley, and then Zach Calzada,
they're very close in terms of, like, talent.
Cutter is probably a little bit better, in my opinion.
But we didn't have that last year.
So I think when you think about a big picture,
we've improved on a lot of things for Kentucky football.
What I give credit to their success in the red zone is the offensive line because they've been able to run the football.
They've been giving a lot of push up front, run the football, move the chains, get closer to a touchdown or an extra point or a field goal.
So running game and offensive line, I think, plays a big part of this success.
And I think that South Carolina game coming up, as you sort of alluded to earlier, that is a crazy atmosphere.
I would expect it to be run heavy, especially early in the game to sort of get.
Picture cutter is comfortable.
I don't think you want to come out and have them to slinging the ball all over the field.
you know, early in the game, maybe get the run game established, get Cutter comfortable,
and then at that point maybe in the second half, let him do his thing.
You got to think Cutter last year his three games were at Florida.
That's a tough situation.
At Texas.
He played well at Texas.
He did.
So he's been in three tough environments already on the road at the swamp, on the road at Texas,
and then the big rivalry game against Louisville.
And that's why I feel like it was a great time.
I mean, again, you don't ever want to see your starting quarterback go down with an injury,
but if it were going to happen, that Eastern Michigan game is the perfect opportunity to get him in there against the really bad team to build his confidence up, to get him comfortable.
And I thought that he looked both competent and comfortable against Eastern Michigan.
Get his feet wet, he's got two weeks here to go with the ones and practice to get ready for South Carolina.
Tough environment down there.
To me, I said this on the pre-show.
I think it's one of the best environments in the SEC.
You got knocked out.
I did get knocked out after the game.
But during the game, it was really kind of cool.
Walk me through it because I've always heard this story.
What happened?
Like, were you just talking and somebody just knocked you out?
It was after the game.
We're walking to our car.
We've left the stadium.
We met Dane, the team bus, said hi to him, walking to our car.
So it's long after the game's over.
We have to pick it up after that.
There's your cliffhanger.
There's your cliffhanger.
Ryan Lemon, Mario Maitland, Shannon, the dude.
Phone lines are open.
859-2802-287.
We'll be right back.
This is Kentucky Sports Radio.
T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney.
Call T.J.
He'll make them pay.
Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Here's Matt Jones.
All right, welcome back.
Ryan Lemon, Shannon, the dude.
Mario Maitland here.
We are live in Mount Vernon, Kentucky.
The Christian Appalachian Project Hunger Walk was this morning.
They had four Hunger Walks across the state,
try to raise some money and some funds for some families in Appalachia that desperately needed.
The Hunger Walk, we're here at Community Trust Bank on Main Street.
Community Trust Bank, a big sponsor to the Christian Appalachian Project.
So thank you to them for help.
helping do that.
We got our orange shirts on because orange is the color of fighting hunger.
It's just, when we had the stat that one in five children go hungry each day in Kentucky,
that's sad.
That kind of hit me more than anything.
That really opens your eyes.
And let me just point out to you can go to Christianapp.org slash hunger walk.
If you're not here and you can't be here to physically donate, you can always go to that website,
Christianapp.
org slash hunger walk.
Perfect.
So I pick up Mario this morning to head down here.
We immediately go to McDonald's.
Oh, let me tell you about his McDonald's trip.
Shannon. Let me tell you about...
We have to go to McDonald's.
First thing.
Every time I get you, we go to McDonald's.
He always goes to McDonald's.
Get his, uh, was it French
vanilla ice coffee?
Yes, French vanilla ice coffee.
Great way, great way to start
the day off with a very healthy,
that is not healthy.
Very healthy breakfast.
Anyways.
About 2,000 calories.
But on the app, it's only a dollar.
So, yeah.
You drink that every morning.
Every morning.
We go into the job.
We're going to McDonald's, right?
And Ryan's in a good mood.
I'm like, hey, how's your date last night?
How to go?
He's like, oh, it was good.
It was good.
I was like, awesome, man.
Let's go to McDonald's, you know, the usual, that's where we go.
And he's in such a good mood.
The drive-through line is there's no one in the drop-through line, so that makes him super happy.
I'm like, what a day.
What a day, what a day.
Nobody's a drive-thru line.
He gives his order.
He gets his sausage McMuffin with his French vanilla iced coffee.
He goes around, you know, he greets the lady who gives him the-
She was super nice.
Super nice lady.
He gets his sandwich, Shannon.
And he's eating it.
He takes his sandwich,
second bite, and the sandwich falls on the floor.
I've never seen Ryan that upset.
I spent a lot of time of Ryan, and I've never seen him that upset.
I already know what happens from here.
There's no way Ryan just lets it perfectly good sausage McBuffin just go to waste.
Well, there's more to the story.
The sandwich falls in the floor of my car, in the floor format.
Where you've got, like, dirt and dog hair.
Dog hair everywhere.
Dog hair everywhere.
Oh, but the sandwich fell into the bag.
I mean, it fell right into the McDonald's bag.
That's how you know it's going to be a good day.
What kind of day am I having?
My McDonald's sandwich falls in the bag.
There was no line, and I had a little pout chica-pow pout out last night.
Okay.
You don't need to hear that.
You're going to let that out.
Kids that listen to the show, Ryan.
Come on.
That's three boom-chic-a-pow-wows we've already had this morning.
But the good luck I'm having today,
cancels out the bad luck I had yesterday.
What happened yesterday?
I thought everything was good with you and yoga girl.
Before we went out on her birthday date last night,
I got another speeding ticket.
You got a speeding ticket!
You were in such a hurry to see her.
You got a speeding ticket.
I was so excited to get our event started and going to Rodney's restaurant.
I got a speeding ticket right in front of the airport,
like in between Keenland and the airport.
Right there, he got me.
Well, there goes your endorsement for the Kentucky Department of Highway Safety.
You can't be doing that, Ryan.
What are you doing?
What happened?
I wasn't paying attention.
I was coming back from Versaels, not paying a lick of attention.
He got me for 71 and a 55.
He was thinking about yoga girl.
Thinking about the big date plans coming up.
You are, man.
That's got to be like my 30th speeding ticket.
I mean, I'm not kidding you.
He doesn't even drive fast, though.
I know it.
I just spaced out.
I wasn't paying attention.
He got me.
I'll tell you what.
He spaces out a lot.
Well, that ain't good if you're driving.
One time we were in Cincinnati, we were coming back from the Reds game.
And it was a red light, and I'm pretty sure.
Ryan seen it, but he's just spaced
out and he's just driving. And I'm not going to say anything
to him, and he's going about 45 miles
per hour. And there's a car at the other
intersection, in the middle of the intersection, Ryan
is about to run the red light, about to
kill me and my life
and go, like, what are you doing, Ryan?
You're a brave man actually allowing him to drive you
around. Like, if you two are coming down, you
should have been the driver. He should have been driving Ryan.
I enjoy his car rides. He's
fun. He's funny guy. I mean, I've actually
been in the car with him, too, when he
a speeding ticket. Oh, you have? A few years ago. Do you remember that? No. Oh, yeah, yeah. You were in the car with
me? Yes, it was one of those KSR safe summer driving tours. You don't remember. Hey, he's driving so
safely he got, he got a speeding ticket. The cop wanted to pull them over and compliment him on how great
the driver he was. Here's what stinks. In a couple months, the last ticket I got was going to fall off
my record. It's right back there. Now the clock just starts again. That's right. You got to be
12 months of good driving. I think I'm going to go to defensive driving school to get my points back.
You should be the teacher of that class at this point. This will be the.
The seventh time I've went to defensive driving school.
I mean, you already know everything.
I'm a six-time graduate of defensive driving school.
This is the seventh time.
I've never gotten.
You have to go to get your points back.
Are you going to keep my insurance, at least, being somewhat reasonable?
It's ridiculously high right now.
So you've got six diplomas of defensive driving class.
Okay, let's move on.
859-2-802-287.
Let's just get a call up and we'll draw all our next question.
Who we got, Liam?
Rob and Harlan.
Rob and Harlan.
Go ahead, Rob.
Hey, gentlemen, good morning.
I just got a quick question, and then I'll hang up with you guys answer.
Now, realistically, Kentucky could very well lose every game for the rest of the season.
But here's my question.
No, no, come on.
They're going to beat Tennessee Tech.
They're a negative.
Okay, but.
If this happens, but they beat Tennessee, do they still keep stoops?
So even if they lost the Tennessee, so you're saying thanks to the goal.
They're saying if they just beat Tennessee Tech and Tennessee, does that save his job?
He did it's 4-8, 1 SEC win.
Yeah, I mean, I don't think that...
It's back-to-back four-win seasons.
Yeah, I don't think Barnhart would get rid of him, though, because of that buyout, number one.
That's a big factor in it.
Now, if he won three, I think you'd have to just say, you know what?
That's just completely not accepted.
And 4 is not acceptable, so don't get me wrong.
The schedule is just tough, man.
It is, but I think it's never going to get easier.
No, it's not.
We're about to go to nine games in the SEC, so it won't get any easier.
But if you were to get four this year, I would say he would still get one more year.
And then after that, if it happens, then it's over.
Depends on how he loses, too.
Like, if he's just getting, like, people are coming in there and just, like, blowing us out, then, all right.
If it's, like, if he's competitive in these games, then, like, okay.
You know, last year they only won four, but they had Georgia on the ropes.
They had a chance to beat Georgia.
Yeah.
Couldn't close the deal.
So Tennessee, many consider to be a playoff-bound team this year.
If they're able to beat Tennessee.
You know, I'm still optimistic about this team.
I really am.
I mean, I haven't seen anything other than, like, the poor end-game management, you know,
during the old miss game.
We're only three games in.
So I haven't really seen anything that would make me think that the wheels are going to
completely fall off for this team.
So I still feel like it's very, very doable to get to six wins.
What's the stat?
The last 11 SEC home games?
They've only won three.
They're like three and eight in their last 11 SEC home games.
I think it was like two.
We want two games.
Whatever it is, it's not good.
But, I mean, this team, I still believe that they can turn this thing around.
And I believe even more now with cutter Bowley that this could be a good team.
A good team compared to what we were talking about going into the season.
You know, a lot of people were saying four and eight.
Right.
You done?
Yeah, I think he's done.
Yeah, I'm done.
We've got to go to the bowl.
All right.
Mario, you ask a question right here.
Yeah.
You pull out the next question.
submitted by people here in the audience.
They never get to participate in our show.
They come out to watch the show,
and they don't get to participate.
So we've got a question here for them.
What's this one?
Okay.
Did I'm trying to read the handwriting here.
Did Oscar have a vision of losing to St. Peters?
He said it.
He did.
Was it a vision of losing to St. Peter's or a vision of a plane crash or something?
Okay.
Well, that does kind of sound familiar.
He did have some kind of vision of catastrophe, disaster,
right before the St. Peter's game.
Wasn't he, like, on a plane or something?
Something like that.
Is that what happened?
I'm kind of with with Shane.
I think it was anything to do with the plane crash.
I don't think it was anything to do with St.
Peters.
I think it was like some sort of tragedy.
Yes.
If I'm on the team and I hear that, I'm going, I don't know if I want to go.
And it was like the night before they played St. Peter's, I'm not mistaken, wasn't it?
I don't know if it was like he was on a plane and they were flying and then he freaked out.
I don't know.
I've heard multiple stories.
I don't know.
I think that was sort of along the lines of what it was of him having a, I guess, vision.
Cremonition or something about gloom and doom disaster.
I remember Matt, I forget who Matt said it.
Somebody told him before the game Cal looks scared to death.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
So something about maybe.
It was Ian Eagle who was calling the game.
That's who it was.
He said, I've never seen Cal so uptight.
Why is he uptight?
What's going on with the team?
For St. Peters.
Right.
I think maybe Oscars.
Premonition maybe kind of spooked him a little bit.
I don't know.
He got a vision.
He knew.
He's just a bad aura around that entire.
Dude, I still can't believe they lost to St. Peter's.
I mean, even if we think about it now, how did the world do they lose to St.
In Oakland?
I thought that team was...
Jack Golky.
Yeah.
We made him a household name.
Why not put somebody to stop that same play?
They kept running the pick and let him throwing up three.
That was the most damning thing about Calipari that I had heard from anybody.
That's when we had, remember it was the part of my take guys.
Yeah.
We're filling in on KSR.
And they had Jack Gokie on just to troll all the Kentucky fans.
Yep.
And Jack Golke said, I thought that they would make some sort of switch or some sort
adjustment.
Adjustments.
And it never happened.
Never happened.
And he just went off on Kentucky and Oakland beats Kentucky.
When the guy hitting all the threes admits they didn't do anything.
They didn't make any adjustments, any changes or nothing.
Yep.
Great coaching job.
So what you think if he'd come across the screen one time and somebody just put an elbow
right in his chest, knock him to the floor.
Maybe he would think a little twice about coming off that pick and jacking up another
three like that.
So of all the criticisms I've heard of Calipari, Jack Golky on the show that day,
I think that was the biggest.
Dude, I still can't believe they lost St.
Peters on Oakland. I just can't believe.
We had a good team that year. Tata, Washington. Who else?
Well, the game they lost to Oakland, they had a good team.
Yeah, that team was even better.
Yep.
Okay, thanks for depressing.
All right, 859, 2-80287.
Clark's Pubbushaw phone number, 859, 280, CAT.
Ryan Drew is a baby coming back tomorrow.
Okay.
He's a maybe for tomorrow.
You know, they're having a tough time kind of dealing with the loss of Manny.
Prayer to Drew.
All prayers up to Drew.
So he's a strong maybe for tomorrow.
And we are tomorrow at Wild Eggs.
Wild Eggs in Tate's Creek.
This is the new wild eggs in Tate's Creek, course,
of the official breakfast of KSR.
The food out there is outstanding,
so hopefully have a good crowd there tomorrow.
You'll be there, Shannon will be there,
Mario will be there, but Billy and Matt are still out.
Yeah, yeah.
The week of going to the bullpen continues.
So we'll take our break.
Go back to the phone lines, 859-287.
Ryan, Shannon and Mario, we're right back.

Are they at the Latter Than Life this weekend?
They are not.
Who is...
I'm trying to think.
Was it Slayer you say, Slayer?
Slayer is the main headline band tonight.
Tonight is Slayer.
Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson.
That's right.
And a bunch of other...
Over 175 bands are going to be there next four days.
We've got some Latter Than Life tickets to give away here at the end of the show.
We've also had some Eric Church.
Talk about a contrast.

This is the Good Life.
Now, you didn't finish the South Carolina story
where you got sucker punched.
You said you were going to finish it.
We never got the ending of it.
So tell us how long.
that happened. Okay, the game was over. We met Dane at the bus, talked to him for a minute,
then we're walking to our car. So we're away from the stadium. We come up to an intersection,
and there's a group of fraternity guys, maybe five or six of them, and they start mouthing about
because we've got our blue on, and they started making fun of Dane's mom and Dane's grandma.
I'm like really making fun of them. So we kind of stepped in, like, get him to calm down,
then there being some pushing, some shoving, some mouthing, some mouthing. I literally remember I got
in the middle between a couple guys and, like, had my hands, you can't see him. You kind of separate him.
Yeah.
And some guy I never saw him came from my blind side, my left side.
You hit me right in the face.
Next thing I know I'm on the ground.
I never saw him.
I didn't know what it happened.
You were trying to break it up.
I literally have my hands like this.
Got knocked out.
Bam.
I'm out.
Were you physically pushing them?
Yes.
Okay.
Yes.
Now here's the interesting thing about the story.
The more and more you tell it, the more physical you get.
Yeah.
Because I thought the first time you said you didn't touch anybody and didn't really say anything.
I think I did.
I was like, I was going like this.
Okay.
Get away, get away, get away.
That changes things.
See?
I don't know.
I thought you were completely innocent.
But the dude I had my hands on didn't hit me.
It was some dude from over here.
Yeah.
Doesn't matter.
It still shouldn't have happened.
He still should not have.
So next thing I know I'm on the ground and I get up and I guess the police officer
talked to me and I said I was fine.
I'm not going to give him the satisfaction.
Think he hurt me.
Oh, I would have prosecuted that guy to the fullest degree.
I have no memory of talking to police officer at all.
Were you bleeding or anything?
No.
No.
Okay.
So do you have any lingering effects of that?
No.
No, I went, obviously, I went to the dentist.
Dr. Cook, she spells a funny, K-O-C-H.
I've heard.
And she, because my teeth were hurting.
I thought maybe he jarred a couple teeth got knocked loose or something.
He said, no, you're fine, but you got a crack in your jaw.
Oh, my God.
He cracked your jaw.
I went to another doctor, and he looked at it.
He goes, you know, it's not displaced.
You're fine.
It's just going to be sore for a while.
I can't believe frat guys hit an old man.
See, you still had to go, you still had to go to a doctor.
You still had to get a doctor bill out of it.
Yes.
And that brat boy should have paid for it.
Picking on the old man.
Should have called.
He'll make them pay.
That's right.

It's good another question.
Okay, it's my turn.
I guess to pull out a question here.
All right, what we got?
Here's the question from somebody in the audience.
What is your favorite remote location?
Oh, we'll put you in spot.
Mount Vernon, of course.
Of course.
Yeah.
Yeah, Mount Vernon, Kentucky.
Mount Vernon.
Community Trust Bank for the Christian Appalachian Hunter Grawl.
What would be your second maybe favorite remote location?
Oh, my goodness.
There are so many of them out there.
Any plays that feeds us well or, you,
you know, gives us prizes, things that take away from the remote at the end.
Whiskey thief is always fun.
That's a good one.
That one always comes to mine.
I'm sure there's going to be somebody listening going, well, what about this one that I'm going to completely forget about?
But that one, I think cornbread hemp is always fun going on their hemp farm.
It is.
That is fun.
What about you, Mario?
I like all the remotes with a lot of people.
I like the big crowds, like country boys.
Country boy bring, pretty big crowd.
Cornbread is always fun because it's just a,
scenics like the scenic view that we see at country boy at the farms was just us out there with a bunch
of hemp yeah and it's good smells you know out there and you like the smells oh yeah yeah you know
what about you my favorite one is probably we don't do it as much anymore was connelly bottom we used to
connolly bottom every summer do it on the dock um never usually let me jump in the water
belly flocks yeah one year ryan stripped down and and just jumped into the lake i did they held
up a big couple towels and I took my shorts off, put on some swim trunks right there on the dock.
What?
Yeah. I wanted to get in the water.
You took your shorts off?
I did.
We used to be, you know, we used to get kind of dicey on KSR back in the day.
We've really calmed down.
We've calmed down.
Ryan just takes the shirt off now.
Okay.
But I did.
So you used to be a lot worse.
I used to strip completely down to put on some swimsuits so I could jump in the water.
All right, 859, 2802-2-2-8.
We do need to update a story we talked about yesterday.
Sidney McLaughlin
who we'd said
Now he holds the record in the 400 hurdles
Broke the American record in the 400 meter dash
That was in the semifinals
She ran the finals last night
Broke her own record again
You can't stop this one
I mean she is the fastest woman ever
Yeah
In the two toughest events
She now has the American record in both of them
It's amazing
I mean I feel like she's just running her own race out there
Like the other participants aren't even in the same
Yeah
category or even level of her just because of how fast she is.
She's got to be, I mean, we've said this before, but she's got to be the greatest athlete in Kentucky history.
I don't think there's a question now.
When do you put her as like in the conversation as one of the greatest athletes of all time?
Like when is that happening?
Of all, well.
Of all the time.
Well, you know, Tyson Gay, who is from Lexington is the fastest American.
But wasn't for Usain Bolt.
He would have been the fastest man in the world.
Usain Bolt just happened to come along right when Tyson Gay came along.
Sidney, she is the Usain Bowel.
right now. Nobody's touching her.
And she's, I mean, she's still really young.
She's just going to get faster, bigger, stronger,
and continue to break her own records.
That's the thing. It's one thing to break
somebody else's record. When you've already broken
the record and then you come back and break your own record
it just shows that she's
improving every year. So we
were very proud of her being, that she wore the
hard to believe she was walking around campus
for a year, but yes. Students would go crazy.
No doubt. They go crazy. All right, we want
to remind everybody tonight at KS. Bar and Grill.
It is Thursday night football. We
We got the Bills and the Dolphins.
Bills and Dolphins, Thursday Night Football.
I'll be there.
We've got some more tickets to give away.
Of course, the food out there is fantastic.
So come out on out Thursday night football.
A lot of drink specials, too.
A lot of drink specials.
Got volleyball tonight, too.
Volleyball tonight against Kentucky going to Louisville at the Yom Center.
That's right.
So I hope we get some blue to sneak in to watch that one as well.
Louisville volleyball, I think they're top ten.
They're number three.
Oh, my goodness.
Yeah.
I mean, how many top ten teams is Kentucky going to play?
I love it.
Greg Skinner's like, let's take on the world.
We'll play every top 25 team we can.
Most of them have been top 10.
So they played number one Nebraska.
They played number two Penn State.
Now they're playing number three Louisville.
One all the smoke, man.
I love it.
Well, when else do we talk about UK volleyball?
Good for him.
He's got it in the forefront, and they're good.
They're really, really good.
So we'll check out that game tonight.
All right, well, to get ready to take our break.
Hour number two coming up.
Phone lines will be open.
859-2-2-287.
A-Vision Glass Tech Machine is 502-3, 35, 36, 80.
We're live in Mount Vernon.
Ryan, Shannon Mario.
We'll be right back after this.
Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy,
not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day
and head writer Streeter Seidel
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind, and nobody's
telling you exactly what happened. That's where Sports Slice comes in. I'm Timbo, and every episode,
we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the biggest moments in sports and giving you
the real story behind the headlines. And we're going straight to the source, the athletes
themselves, their locker room stories, their reactions in the moment, and the stuff nobody gets
to hear.

Is somebody coming after me?

Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's superhuman documented it all,
embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days I'd put on 10 pounds, I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.
