Welcome to Hour 2 of Kentucky Sports Radio, presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Now, here's Matt Jones.
All right, welcome back, hour number two, Kentucky Sports Radio.
Matt Jones still over in South Africa.
If you heard Drew's update, they're going to be recording a couple podcasts today.
Like, you've got two of them back to back as soon as the show's over.
Literally, as soon as this show's over, at a different location, but I'm going to get there.
And, of course, he's, I'm sure I'll talk about what the Reds have done and can't be able to do.
So we're going to talk a lot of UK football this hour because we got along our special guest, Mr. JoJo Kemp joins us now.
How are you, Joe, Joe?
How are you guys doing?
I'm doing good, buddy.
You've been up early this morning.
He said you had to be in Winchester at 7 o'clock this morning and still made it on time here today.
Yes, man.
Thanks to, you know, the Ortho legend, Dr. Hamilton.
He was able to, you know, to do his cases and allow me.
me to leave on time just so I can make the show with you guys.
You know, the South Carolina game, every time it comes up every year, it's always the
Jojo Kemp game.
The game that kind of changed.
The course I always felt like for Mark Stoops.
That game, night game at the old Commonwealth Stadium, and you're in the Wildcat with
Jojo Kemp, and they couldn't stop it, and they kept calling it, and they kept calling it, and
they kept calling it.
Next thing I know, you've got like 600-yard rushing and 14 touchdowns, and Kentucky wins the game.
Exactly, change the game.
Do you feel like that game, though, did kind of change the course
or Stoops' career at that point?
Oh, yeah, of course, especially being Steve Spurrier.
But I think the nail in the coffin was the very next year
when we beat Steve Spurrow at South Carolina.
I think that was the game.
He said, all right, I had enough of this.
I'm going to retire.
I can't beat Kentucky.
I think it's time to hang it up.
So that's my claim of fame.
In that famous 2014 game, though, I mean,
there were so many magical things that happened,
but you were obviously a big part of it in the Wildcat,
just doing whatever you wanted to behind that offensive line.
How did it feel, even though you're obviously gassed,
how did it feel to kind of be locked in like that?
And, you know, it's kind of the cliche of the old Madden quote,
but putting the team on your back like that because you literally did that.
Exactly.
It was just one of those things where, man,
the stadium was just, you know, electric, man.
And I just didn't want to let, you know, the team and the fans down.
It was something that I had to get done.
I had to get done.
And the fact that there was running the Wildcac the whole entire game
and everybody in the country knew that I wasn't throwing the ball.
So it's like one of those things, well, you know, you got to figure it out.
You got to get it done.
And you were so gassed you get carried off the field at one point?
Was it the streak coach?
Yeah.
It was a strength coach, man.
man I remember
looking at the sideline
tap on my helmet like just let me
off one plate and then Neil Brown is like this
No no no
Get a drink afterwards exactly
And then I break that long run
And then I don't know if you guys remember
I mean I was on the sideline I laid out
With gas
And next thing you know I start hearing the chance like
Joe Joe Joe Joe Joe
Joe Joe Joe and I'm just like all right
All right now you got your rest
get up, let's do it again.
We were a few of those, Joe, Joe.
I appreciate it, guys.
You know, like I said, that game was so important for Mark Stoops'
coaching career in UK football.
As a dad, one of my favorite games, because I got to storm the field
after the game with my two boys.
First time, you know, we were jumping over the sideline and going out on the field.
As a dad, you had that experience, man.
I get goosebumps right now.
Chili bumps.
I got chili bumps thinking about it.
Man, I'm glad you are, man.
When you just broke up your two boys, you just made me feel old
because I know one of your boys just answered.
this first year at UK.
That's right.
And, you know, I've been gone for some time.
Now I don't feel like an old man.
Why you got to do that to me, Ryan?
When you sat down there, I said, what are you, mid-30s?
You're like, no, dude, I'm just 30 years old.
What's up with Ryan trying to age us, man.
I know, I know.
He didn't believe you when you correct it, even.
That night also was famous for the creation of the Grove Street party.
Yes, it was.
I said that.
So, oh, the Grove Street party, fans getting into it.
No, but before the kickoff, the special team,
unit they were kind of just bobbing
nothing out of the ordinary but
for whatever reason Crogerfield
last son of that and it has not gone away
exactly I don't know if you weren't in at
that moment you're on the bench you know kickoff
but what was that like did you know that might
set you know decades later we're still
going to yeah and I was actually
going to talk about that because
you know the start of the season this year
it was no Grove Street correct and I promise
you guys it was like
people including myself was going to
have a panic attack because it was like
What's going on?
Where's our theme song?
What's changing?
What's changing?
So I'm glad they're able to bring that back and then we can get some things going
because I feel like let's have that old culture here.
Let's come out with a little swagger about ourselves.
And let's go out and get a victory over this South Carolina team.
Has the program been missing some of that swagger that you guys had back in the day
the last couple of years that you see it as a fan now?
Has some of that swagger been missing a little bit?
So, man, our swagger was like internal, man.
These guys got a little bit more swagger, man.
I think with this NIL money, I see all these big old chains and stuff like that.
I want that type of swagger than the swagger that we had.
What you guys think?
You did just miss out on that.
We've had this conversation with a few of the guys from your era who really helped put UK on the map.
You know, we were joking before this.
But anything the guys have now is in part because you guys got the ball rolling with stoops.
But you did miss out on some nice financial return for what you gave just by a few years.
That's got to sting a little bit.
Just a little bit, but, you know, we had the crawl so these guys can walk,
so I don't mind it at all.
And then, you know, of course, the work we're putting in outside of football,
you know, we're still trying to get a little bit of that NIL money back, right?
Oh, yeah.
Video games, maybe just throw you a little bit back.
We know Bud DePri had the big touchdown in that game also.
There were so many momentous occasions, but, you know,
you and Bud kind of did help set the stage for what we saw several years later,
10-win seasons, eight-win seasons,
things that a lot of Kentucky fans would just dream of at one point.
Tax Laira Bowl.
I know you guys are familiar with the Music City Bowl,
but we got the Citrus Bowl.
You know, we definitely got over that hump.
And then now I think we're a little bit further than that.
Now we want to get to a bowl game.
But, you know, let's start competing for some SEC championships.
Let's start competing for some playoffs, you know.
But when you committed, there wasn't any of that.
Yeah, I know.
It was quite a downtime, right.
I mean, it wasn't even a field stadium when I committed.
So we was definitely changing the program around, changing the culture around Kentucky football for sure.
But how did they convince you?
You're a Florida guy, you know, you come up here to Kentucky.
How do they convince you that, you know, stick with us and you can be a part of this and help us build it?
Because the coaching staff was new also and just getting their legs on there.
I know, I mean, it's a lot of stuff I can't say.
But, man, how they treated us on our recruiting visits.
and I mean, we got a chance to see it in the community ourselves.
I came up here with a group of Florida guys that I was on All-Star teams with
in high school as far as like Blake McLean, Jeff Bedet, Garrett Johnson,
those guys I knew in high school.
So it was one of those things.
Once they got all of us here, we kind of made that commitment together.
And then from that, it kind of snowballed to, you know,
all the other guys that came from Florida here today.
Do you guys stay in touch?
I know our listeners know all those names.
And Garrett Johnson, one of the most underrated receivers here.
If you go to the record books, his name's all in it.
Exactly.
It doesn't get talked about enough.
But do you all stay in touch?
Oh, yeah, for sure.
You know, those my guys.
I went to Garrett's wedding, Blake McLean's wedding, you know, all those guys married and got kids now.
Jeff Bedet and Gary Johnson also has a podcast called The Juice Boys.
I don't know if you guys tuned in to us.
So, you know, they're doing their own things outside.
I'm really the only one that's still here.
that Littleby in Lexington, you know, got a career and, you know, making a difference.
I'm still changing the game.
So when they visit, if it's come to games, they're on your couch and they're hitting you up for places to stay.
Of course.
Of course, like I said earlier, we didn't get a chance to get NIL.
So, you know, however, you know, you got to come and save some money.
Why not come to my house?
You don't have to, you know, spend money on hotel fees and get rental cars and Uber's and all that.
You just let me come in and be your host and let me take care of you.
So what does Jojo Kemp do on game days?
Do you go to the games?
Do you tailgate?
Do you get a bunch of friends and hang out before or after the game?
What do you do?
Yeah, man.
You know, now I'm a little older now, so I've been doing a little tailgate.
I get a chance to see what the other side of the field looks like.
So you can always find me at a tailgate, you know, just hanging out,
playing a little cornhole, things like that.
But, I mean, if it's a later game, I'm not going to lie to you guys.
I'm not going to lie.
I do go over to Kirk Levinton, get a couple games in people.
pickleball in and then it's going to say
so I'm a little older
now you're a pickleball guy
yeah I'm a pickleballer
Shannon the dude who's your next
kid we'll go over to PKLX
and do it come on let's do it
I'm over at Kirk Leviton or you can find me at
pickleball paddock all right
that sounds like a challenge to me
you can have your shoutouts but it was
very clear that you go to the games and pay attention
when you noticed that Grove Street wasn't
played we don't have to you know they fixed it
We don't have to get into that.
You told on yourself that you're at all the games when you even noticed that it was that it was missing one time.
Exactly, exactly.
Man, that was just one of those things where it was part of, you know, the culture that we created.
And it was one of those things where it just happened, you know, naturally and organically.
And that was just one of those songs where we made a memorable game that made a mark.
and, you know, in our history.
Yeah, being from Kentucky, growing up here, a lifelong fan of UK,
if you told me that the organic song we would have
would be by a walk-of-foc playing, I would have would be expected it.
But it was a good surprise there.
You mentioned Stoops, such a players,
but you and Stoops, you still hit him up occasionally being in Lexington?
Oh, yeah, for sure.
And, you know, actually, that's what we was talking about earlier, Drew.
I feel like I'm being a little biased because not only is Coach Stoops
a great coach, but he's a great player's coach.
And it's something that, you know, I'm doing now.
I'm still involved with the program.
If I have any friends, family members, you know, counterparts that, you know,
maybe want to go toward a facility or, you know, check out of practice, it's an open door.
And I feel like, you know, if we get a new coach, head coach, and I try to walk in,
they'll be like, hey, who's that guy?
You know, who is that guy?
So I have to kind of remind them like, hey, man, you know, change the game.
Why not us?
You get it.
You can be selfish in that way.
That's your coach.
I'm sure that's natural anywhere.
And if anyone gives you trouble for going to the building,
just point to the South Carolina highlight.
They're running a loop and say, that's me, number three.
So we've got that sound bite, one of the most famous sound bites in UK football history.
We're going to play it the next segment of what you just said right there
because it kind of resonated for years to come what you did after the South Carolina game.
I got to tell you, the market may shift, Jojo, but you're going to say,
Stockton Mortgage Guidance stays steady.
Their team can help you make informed decisions based on your goals, not guesswork.
So start today.
And if you're buying a home that may be needs of the love, Stockton's renovation loan options can help cover both the purchase and the improvements.

Ryan, Drew and Shannon, we're here with Jojo Camp.

The question is,
How do you conquer them?
On hurdle with Emily Abadi, we sit down with the most inspiring women in sports and wellness,
professional athletes, coaches, and Olympic champions to talk about the challenges that shaped them
and the mindset that keeps them going.
From the WMBA standout Kate Martin and rising hockey star Layla Edwards.
If a boy can do it, I don't see why a girl can't.
Like, I've never understood that.
Like, it didn't make sense in my brain.
It's hard to be in spaces that no one looks like you, but don't ever feel like you don't
feel like.
Don't let that be the reason you don't do it.
An Olympic champs Gabby Thomas and Katie Ledecki.
The ability to show a gold medal to someone and have their face light up and smile,
that means the world to me.
And that's what motivates me to win more gold medals.
At our level, at this scale, like being able to fail in front of the entire world.
Like, I can do anything.
I can do anything.
Because resilience isn't just about winning.
It's about showing up, even when it's hard.

The largest tax investigation in American history.
You need to tell me what you know.
Is somebody coming after me?
Jacob told Levan, you're ruining my life.
Listen to Kingdom of Fraud on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
There it is.
There it is.
That happened that night.
South Carolina game 2014.
We were talking during the break.
Somebody texted this in on the aviagnolast text machine.
They should play that clip of the kickoff team guys dancing the moment they played that song and that's where the whole movement kind of started.
They need to just play that video clip again.
Those guys are all in sync, too.
It was like, it was this like they practiced it and like they was going to come out.
Yeah.
Their arms going.
But it just happened spontaneously.
There was no rehearsal practice.
It just happened.
Yeah.
Everything was organic.
That's why that night was so special.
Yeah.
That's why that night was so special.
That's one of the few things we've got.
But we need to keep that Grove Street party and play it.
Exactly.
We didn't even really mention like the bud tip.
That's about as loud as the field's gotten.
It kind of was shaking a little bit.
He ran in that time.
Oh, yeah.
So I ask you during the break, who was the quarterback when you were doing the Wildcat
formation run all that time?
It was Patrick Toes.
Literally, they would line him up at receiver.
They would not put a cornerback on Patrick Toes.
He was wide open.
All I had to do was get the ball and throw a screen out there.
Why did they throw your pass call for you then?
Man, I didn't know how to throw.
I didn't know how to throw, Ryan.
I threw one pass in my career, all right?
And it was an interception.
So right now.
In my career, Jojo Camp, I am 0 for one and one interception.
Yeah, one in the sense.
Wow.
So only if I could have been, you know, Lynn Bowden,
because actually they took all the plays that we practiced and all the passing plays that they had in the Wildcat.
And then that I couldn't throw the ball that very next year they let Lynn Bowden do that same package.
But now he can throw because he was a quarterback.
The quarterback.
Exactly.
So he just fit right in perfect.
So he had like the Wildcat tops two.
I will have to correct you on one thing,
because if I'm not mistaken, it was the South Carolina game
where you ran the trick play where you pitched it to Tolls.
Yeah.
He threw a 50-yard touchdown.
Exactly, exactly.
So you didn't get throw a little out of the Wildcat,
even if it won your arm.
I think you all ran a little something where he threw a bomb,
if I'm not mistaken.
Yeah, yeah, because everybody was biting down.
Like I said, Ryan Timmons for a touchdown.
And that's what I said.
Like when literally throughout the year, right, that game and so forth, I would be in at Wildcat.
You should see the defense.
It go from like, everybody spread out to now everybody's talking out.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
We know what he's doing.
Exactly.
So it was literally that will and that toughness, you know, that I had to bring out myself so I can get the positive yard and do what I need to do so I can team can come out, Victoria.
131 yards on 17 carries for three touchdowns.
Averaging 7.7 a carry when everyone in the building, everyone outside the building.
People not even paying attention that knew you were going to run.
Exactly.
Exactly.
But I mean, if that doesn't build a character, I don't know what it does.
So after the game, a reporter interviewed you live on the field.
The fans are stormed the field.
The fans are running around behind you.
Me and my two boys were running around out there somewhere behind you,
and you had this awesome soundbite that kind of rallied the team for the next several years.
So Shannon's going to play it for us.
We can relive that moment.
This is after.
31 yards.
How did it feel out there tonight?
Man, it felt good, but I can't do it out of my team.
My old linemen, man, I came here to change the program around, and that's what we're doing.
We're changing the game.
Why not Kentucky?
Why not us?
What did you learn about your teammates tonight?
Huh?
What did you learn about your teammates tonight?
Man, we fought hard.
We stayed out there.
We fought through adversity.
And like I said before, I came.
here to change the game and that's what our team is doing.
Why not Kentucky?
We are new UK.
We are the new UK.
We are the new UK.
Why not Kentucky?
Why not us?
We are the new UK.
That changed a lot of stuff right then, that moment.
And you're laughing so hard at Young You as you're playing that back.
Change the game, man.
Oh, man.
You guys are breaking back so many memories.
I just got to chill.
Listen to that.
Man,
listen, we was so passionate about, you know,
getting over that hump coming here because a lot of guys on our team could have
went you know anywhere in the country but all decided to come to Kentucky and in
that locker room we all had one mission and only one mission and that was
getting over their hump you know doing something special and changing the
culture around Kentucky football and I'll never forget the feeling you know
of winning that game and feeling like
we took a step in that direction, you know?
I got one more question from that game before we get on to the big picture.
We don't want to do that.
Do you remember this?
But I have one more thing I've asked a few players before.
21st night or September.
But if that wasn't the first time they did the chrome helmets and the black, it was like the second.
That was brand new.
Is it really just a different feeling when you bring out a new trick like that, whether it's
the black or the chrome or whatever?
Does that really add more juices?
There's just already so much juice you can't possibly have more.
Listen, listen.
We need to know the uniform how much it really matters.
Listen, Drew.
Putting on those chrome helmets and looking at yourself in those chrome helmets.
You can hit your buddy on a helmet and look at yourself.
It feels like it's adding more juice.
You're almost feeling like immortal.
You almost feeling like a superhero.
It's something about that all black in the chrome helmets that makes you, you know, just play a little bit hard, a little bit faster.
And it's funny because I was just talking to my buddies.
And I think LCA actually just played a game and they had on the all black with the chrome helmets and they won that game.
And I was just talking to them and I was like, I can only imagine how those kids felt when the coaches pulled out those chrome helmets.
I can only imagine because it's something about them chrome helmets and that all black.
Under the Lights, nighttime game.
Come on, you can't ask for anything better than that, right?
Yeah, people love the blue and the traditions, but every once in a while,
as you're proving, it helps to bring out a little extra and try something new.
Yeah, bring a little fire.
Yeah, you get a little bit of juice of under your belt, man.
Let's do it.
Let's go play ball.
But now if you go out there and you don't perform, throw them away.
You don't need to wear those again.
Delete those pictures.
Yeah, delete those pictures.
So what about this year's team?
So Cutter Bowley, this is going to be his first SEC start,
and his first SEC road start, and it's at a tough place to play in South Carolina.
What are your thoughts about?
I'm hearing the keys over to him.
Yeah, man, I'm excited.
I'm excited.
And I was actually talking to the ortho legend, Dr. Hamilton, about it.
And he said, hey, man, you know what my coach told him?
I said, what was that?
He was like, if the play, he was, like, if the play.
players are close, you always go with the younger guy.
And I 100% agree.
I think we made a good decision going with Cutter.
Younger guy, he's going to have a ton of experience.
He's going to gain a ton of experience.
And, you know, going into atmosphere like South Carolina,
I'm pretty sure we're going to be showing him old film.
I think he's going to be ready.
I think he's going to be ready to play.
And, I mean, who doesn't like going to South Carolina and quiet in 95,000 fans?
like that's the best feeling ever.
They're going to be loud.
They're probably going to be
throwing a little white in their white towels.
Come on now.
We're going to, we're going to, we're going to, we're going to,
Darius Ruckers probably going to be on the sideline.
We're going to quiet that real quick.
We're going to cry that real quick.
I definitely have faith in Cudder.
I think it was a good decision to go with him.
Hometown kid, let's do it.
Why not?
I know you like to win them at home for your fans that are here and supporting you,
but how is it to steal one,
celebrating that crappy locker room they put you in.
You got the flight home.
Just what makes it different when you do go into that rival territory,
where it's kind of just you all versus everybody and go and get one.
Man, I love that feeling.
And that's what I was talking to Ryan earlier.
I really love that 2014 South Carolina game.
But what was even better, right?
Just because everything was just so perfect.
You can't write a perfect script than what they did that 2014
the South Carolina game at home, right?
Chrome helmets, Grove Street, all that, it was perfect.
But when you go to that next year, 2015 at South Carolina,
that was our first road SEC win.
Everybody in the country thought the year before it was a flute game.
The football gods was on our side.
But being able to go to their home the very next year and beat them at their home
and make Steve Sparrier retire, that was even better.
That was absolutely better
Because we heard those
95,000 fans
Waving the white flag
And carrying on and then silencing them
And walking out with a victory
It doesn't get any better than that
Well, it validates
Like you said, it kind of validates what you guys did the year before
When you go on the road and
Knock that same team off again
You're not supposed to. Validates everything
Exactly. And then now on that
That builds the confidence for the underclassmen
Like the freshman sophomores that's in that room
Because after that game we go on like
a five-game win a streak against South Carolina.
That's right.
Now, the last two years, they've had our number the last couple years.
Yeah, they got it back.
I don't know what has happened, but South Carolina kind of flipped the switch on us a little bit.
You're right.
How do you feel about going down there then just on Saturday?
Well, I'm actually, I think there's going to be a start of something new.
It's going to be Scudders.
First game as a starter.
Let's go down there.
Let's play hard.
Let's get this victory and come on back.
and get the roller.
He is JoJo Camp.
We got Drew Franklin, Shannon the dude.
We'll be right back.
This is Kentucky Sports Radio.

Joe, Jay, and Joe, Joe. The things
we do for our listeners, Joe Joe,
I'll even bring my own cup.
Nice. Joe J. During the break
told an awesome story.
You asked me how it was in Nebraska.
You know, I just went to Nebraska to watch Dane play
in Nebraska. Yes. And then what did you
say? So that was
one of my very first official.
visit that I ever took in college and who was the recruiting coordinator that
recruited you in Nebraska this Merrill Vince Merrow was recruiting you to go to
Nebraska yes so I guess when he came to Kentucky here you already knew him
calls the phone hey how about Kentucky exactly and then I knew some of the guys like
Courtney Love Marcus Nick Wilson those guys was on my visit my official
visit over at Nebraska so when those guys got here as well that was again
someone I knew and I was able to connect you know kind of the Florida boys with you know
some of the Ohio guys and you know now we want big happy family so wait a minute so you guys
were all on a recruiting visit together to Nebraska with Vince yeah Marcus McWillson
Courtney Love yes and you yes and he ends up flipping all you guys to come to Kentucky
yes kind of 40 yeah see that's a small world and then now you're going over there
support Dan Key you know well we both said it's just an it's an awesome environment
exactly there's never a dull moment when the play stops boom
their music going or they've got t-shirts coming in the stand or it's just non-stop the whole time you're there
yeah but it's nothing like you know big blue now yeah it's nothing like big blue nason well let's stay with
the nebraska connection kentucky went and got one of their running backs this year dante dowdell
hadn't played as much earlier we got a little bit of injury but he and set fagallon looked like a
good one-two punch what do you what do you think and uh patterson behind him and wilcox if you can get
going uh what do you think of the running back room now the running back room looks awesome and um i think
This is probably the better running back room.
And I think in the last two years, two, three years, I believe these guys are getting after.
I really love the way Seth runs.
He runs with that determination behind his pads.
I feel like that would be a great guy.
Come on, Coach, throw that Wildcat package in there and let Seth get back there and do a little bit.
I know we got some film up there now.
Let's do it.
People keep saying he's a hard runner, and I saw a part of it in a drill where it just,
just looked like he was going full speed in an early part of practice.
Zach Kalsata said he runs like he's mad at the earth.
Yes.
What does it mean to just like really get your foot in there and run with the power
and as hard as they do?
It means a lot because, man, it's not all, it's not, it doesn't happen the way
you draw it up in the sand, right?
Every hole is not going to be there.
So running with that kind of determination, you know, means a lot because.
the hole's not going to get there and we still need you know three four yards you
know every time so and then those guys are kind of get timid and scared to come down
to tackle you you know and then they may whiff on a tackle or they may not come
as hard as they once did and be leaning back a little bit or try to arm tackle you and then
those three four hard tough earn yards turn it to 30 40 home runners you know so
So I love his style of run.
And plus he got on that number three, man.
Since I love, I think he's making the three, look, you know.
Bringing three back.
Yeah, he's bringing three back.
So, you know, since you played for Stoops, you know,
kind of the underlying rumors about him,
is that he wants to just run the ball, ground and pound it,
move the change, eat up to the clock.
And they go down in South Carolina, a team that has trouble stopping the run.
At least they did it last week against Missouri.
Is that a fair assessment of Coach Stoops?
Do you think he's just a guy that just field control, time possession,
remote the clock as much you can and run the ball as much as you can?
Is that what he wants to do?
Yeah, I mean, Coach Stoops,
Coach Stoops definitely likes to run,
but he also, I think he's one of the better coaches,
especially from, you know, the stories I hear from other programs amongst players,
you know, that I know of.
He's one of the better head coaches.
that actually lets the offensive coordinator call the play.
So I feel like he doesn't really interfere, step in with what the
offensive coordinator wants to do.
But I mean, if he had to pick either run or pass, I'm almost 100% sure.
He's going to lean more towards the run game.
You know, Coach Stoves is just a hard-nosed football coach, man.
He's a defensive coach.
He just love tough football players, and he love playing tough football.
So, you know, why not?
Well, you mentioned something people have accused him of over the years, too,
that he was meddling with the play calling and trying to tell the play caller what to call.
Come on, Ryan.
What are you trying to do here, man?
I just told you I love going to the football facility.
Take it, you know, my doctors and my family.
Come on now, right?
Why are you trying to do me like this?
Trying to get you in trouble over there.
Exactly.
But now, Coach Stoves is a great coach.
And, I mean, if he feels like, you know, something to work well or something to fit,
you know he's going to step in but for the most part he he lets the everybody
got the job to do from you know the lifting coaches the offense coordinator
defense coordinator the GA's the ball boy everybody got a job and everybody
plays their part and he's definitely one of those coaches that's gonna you know
let you do your job everybody knows the importance of an offensive line but
stoops especially this year made it made a top priority to go out and rebuild it
hadn't been what it had been last couple seasons so that's
the focal point of the offense. When you had your big games, that's back when the offensive
line was kind of the beginnings of the big blue wall. Just how important other than just
you got to be able to block. Having that identity and that rock knowing those guys are there
for you and how big a part of this cultures have been, how important is it that they stick to that
and keep that going? Exactly. It's very important because, you know, when you out there,
especially as a running back, you have to have faith in your own line. You have to know
that these guys are going to get to their spots. Everybody has a job to do. You don't want
as a running back, you don't not want to trust, you know, the guys in front of it because then
what does that happen?
You start playing a little unorthodox.
You start freestyle.
You start going places where the block is not going to be there.
You're going to be back there trying to, you know, create something that you don't need to do.
You need to just trust the process, you know, go where the players design and believe that
eventually you're going to hit one, you know?
This is from the Avid and Glass Tech Machine.
Listening to Jojo gets me pumped up for the game.
UK needs to use him at home to pump the crowd somehow.
Also asking what do the players like from the crowd to get them going while playing the game?
It's been a big topic this year about the atmospheric Krogerfield.
As a former player, what can the fans do?
I think the biggest part is get loud.
Get loud.
I mean, especially for those defensive players, when it's third down,
scream and get loud like your life is dependent on it.
I think that's as a player, you can.
can feel that energy. And that goes back to, um, last, not last year, but the years that I was there,
especially that South Carolina game, what made the atmosphere so special is because the fans was
involved with the game. That, that would prompt it, you know, you see the special teams
dancing and waving. It's because the whole atmosphere of the stadium. It's everybody plays a part,
you know, everybody plays a part. And that's what we're going to need to feed up that energy to get,
you know, the victory.
we all talk about the music. There's been a few complaints from fans, and it's impossible to please
everyone in their 70s and someone that's freshman just turned 18. But what matters is that the
players are engaged. Who really cares about someone to? We need the players to be at their best.
How in tune to what's actually being played are you all? I mean, are you pretty aware of the
songs that are going through? Are you so dialed in on your assignment? It's kind of secondary,
and you'll hear it from time to time. Or is there moments where a song comes on? You're like,
I need a little more than what we're doing right now.
I mean, I think everything matters.
I mean, me personally, yeah, you're going to be in the zone and you're going to, you know, be in your head.
But those times where, you know, you're not in the game and you're on that sideline, you still have to be in the game.
You still have to have that energy and you still have to be ready to go.
You can't be on the sideline, you know, worried about other things that's not involved with this game.
You know, and it's real easy to get sidetracked.
You know, sometimes you have side conversations going on.
on guys wondering when I'm getting the game, but it's always important to stand to him because you never know when your number's going to call.
And then when your number is going to call, you have to be ready to go do something.
You know, if you worried about anything else, and then your numbers get called, and then you go out there and make a mistake and put us back.
And you know what I'm saying?
Everything plays a part in my opinion, in my opinion.
He is JoJo Kemp, former Kentucky Wildcat.
Perfect time to have him in South Carolina Week because he was the hero of the game.
They beat South Carolina.
to kind of change the course of UK football a little bit.
So it's perfect week to bring Jojo in.
We've got one more segment.
If you want to call and ask him a question, we'll try to squeeze you in real quick.

Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase
that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing.
And we're still chasing it.
And we don't know when we've done enough.
Because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and losses.
Steve Burns, Dustin Ross,
because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth.
Or are you a good person because you're afraid?
Because that's two different intentions, bro.
Absolutely.
And that's two different levels of trust.

Like, it didn't make sense in my brain.
It's hard to be in spaces that no one looks like you,
but don't ever feel like you don't feel like you don't feel on.
Don't let that be the reason you don't do it.

That's Kentucky Joe's song, where you got name dropped in a famous Kentucky Joe song, Joe, Joe, Joe, Joe, with the dance.
Hey, I'm over here doing my little dance right now.
My little one, two.
See, you didn't know you were famous from a Kentucky Joe song.
Yeah, I didn't know that.
It's crazy because last time I was on, Billy told me it was a fan that had a cat name after me as well.
So I really appreciate all the love that the fans are giving me.
It feels amazing.
And that was one of the reasons why I chose to come to Kentucky just because I didn't want to go to a program just to be another number.
I wanted to go somewhere where I'll forever be remembered and, you know, change the culture.
That's all part of changing the culture and being a difference maker.
We are live at KS Bar and Grill.

But we got this stat, Shannon.
Yeah.
We talked about the Reds and the Pirates.
Paul Skeen's pitching against Hunter Green tonight.
Okay, this is a stat.
And I assume it's true because it's on Twitter.
Reds are 0 and 4 all time against Paul Skeens.
Pirates are 7 and 1 all time.
against Hunter Green.
You know, that just tells me the Reds are due.

back to you, Ryan.
859-2802-287.
That's a Clark's Publishup phone number.
That's your doctor.
He's listening.
He let you come to the show today.
No, ortho legend.
Had to make sure you have the legendary Dr. Hamilton.
Hey, Shannon, Ryan keeps talking about the Reds,
but who's the hottest team in baseball right now?
The Atlanta Braves.
We won 10 straight.
As soon as the Braves got eliminated
from the playoffs, they decided to get hot.
That's right.
So they can finish 14.
I want to read you just a couple things
from the A-Vision Glass Text Machine.
Jojo would be great on the football pregame show.
I'm loving this hour with Jojo.
Loving this Jojo Kemp interview.
Dude is getting me fired up.
Jojo has helped coach my son and flag football for a few seasons.
Mr. Douglas.
His energy and excitement with them is awesome.
So I think the fan base needs this energy you're bringing today
because I think we've been down a little bit.
We've got a big winnable game coming up on Sunday.
We needed to hear this from you, I think, today.
Man, why not?
Change the game, why not us?
Like I said, Drew, Ryan, I think we should start a hashtag.
Let's do fourth quarter Joe.
Fourth quarter, Jojo.
You know, why not?
Let me get out there on the field.
Blue, white.
Let's get the fans, you know, activate it, you know.
It's no secret they need a little help over there.
I'll say it so you don't have to.
You can be critical.
They need help.
And you have someone right here.
He's one call away.
Let's not overthink this.
What you do is you take.
is you take the microphone.
All right.
There's a little button
on the bottom that says on.
In between the third and the fourth quarters,
you hit that on.
All right.
You hand it to Jojo Camp and you say,
Jojo, you got about a minute.
Go fire him up.
Go all the blue whites,
all the Wionts.
And then as soon as he's done,
come on, guys, let's go.
As soon as you're done,
you fire up Groh Street.
Just as soon as you're done,
go right into it.
Marcus McClinton used to do it.
He did a good job.
Nothing against him.
Jojo's a little more recent,
a little more name recognition
with the youth.
I mean, that's all due respect to him, but we need some new juice in there.
And as everyone can hear on this Wednesday morning radio show,
where we're just looking at pouring rain outside,
we already hear how much energy he's bringing.
So why not give Jojo the money?
You know, why not us?
Susan Slash, Ms. Barnhart, come on.
Have your people call my people.
Let's make it happen.
Why not?
It's too easy.
It's right there.
Too easy.
I'm sure Mitch is listening.
Come on.
Well, where are you at?
They're trying to find ways to improve the atmosphere.
We're giving you an idea right here.
one day, give Jojo a spot to get everybody fired up, going into the fourth quarter,
or going into halftime, or whatever it is, let you do your thing.
Picture this.
At least give me a shot, right?
We're just asking for a shot.
South Carolina is away this week.
I doubt South Carolina will give Jojo the mic, although that would be really cool.
But imagine we're playing South Carolina home at night, and it's a hard fight game like it always is.
It's sloppy.
We're going to the fourth quarter, it's a Philgo game, and Jojo runs out in his black jersey with his chrome helmet.
Oh, my.
He throws his chrome helmet all.
And he yells whatever he wants to yell that's kid-friendly.
And then we play Grove Street and win by 30.
That's what would happen.
Let's go.
You know, every stadium in the country, when they've got a former big star there,
they always show them and the guy does the, you know, let's go, let's go, let's go.
It works.
It works.
Why not use you then?
Exactly.
Why not?
Let's change the game.
It's not too late.
We're still in the middle of the season.
Let's do it.
I think we can get it done, though.
I think I know we can get it done.
I think I know the answer to this, but are you like this all the time?
I mean, we're doing a radio show, so you kind of got to bring energy.
But if I were to just see you out on the street, I feel like this is the same version of Jojo we would get 24-7.
24-7.
I mean, you see me in the OR room, you're going to get this.
Why not?
Why not?
Why not your left leg?
Why not?
Let's fix it.
Why not?
The thing is I get it all the time, especially early in the morning.
It was like, especially like, you know, the nurses and, you know, stuff.
stuff like that.
You need any coffee?
You're good.
I'm like, oh, no, no, no.
You don't want to see Jojo with caffeine.
You don't want to see me with some caffeine.
Jojo wakes up this way.
I woke up like this.
I thought that was the case.
Let me get one more plug in,
then we got our roll.
We're ready to wrap it up.
We're at Ham Days in Lebanon tomorrow.
It's our third or fourth year in a row.
We've gone out here to Ham Days.
Always love going down there.
They feed us those country ham biscuits, Drew,
and they're awesome.
Let's see what the weather does.
We moved inside last year we were down there.
We're not going to have the haybell tossing contest.
We're going to have a hog-calling contest that we're going to just designate Billy the winner.
Just hand him the trophy.
Let him do it.
Billy had promised me that he was going to teach me the haybell throwing.
So I'm still holding him to it.
Billy, where you at?
Carmel Taw.
I've been looking for you, buddy.
Yeah, he's all high and mighty because he won the haybell.
I'm looking.
It's on the top shelf up here, but there's a photo of him winning it up there at the top.
Yeah.
So he's quite proud.
Big time.
He's big time.
So come and see us out at the Ham Days in Lebanon tomorrow,
and then we're at Bywater Farm in Georgetown on Friday.
Always a big show out there.
So back-to-back live shows, and I'm looking forward to it, Drew.
Two fun ones with two of my favorite places to eat at a show.
We have the country ham biscuits tomorrow that I've already been thinking about all week.
And then at the Bywater Farms, we get those, what are the Apple Cider?
Apple Ciner, donuts.
Yeah, so definitely come see us.
And the Bywater one especially just, it almost feels like the turn of fall a little bit.
You get out there, maybe it's probably because we're at a pump.
can patch but it does feel like a big part of football season when we do that show because we've
done it for so many years out there so jojo we got one minute you get your chance talk to the fan base
