Welcome back to the second hour of KSR here live at Marion County Ham Days, which starts on the 26th of the 28th this weekend, voted a top 10 Kentucky event.
Before we get more to a little Ham Days talk, Ryan Lemon, who's this segment brought to us by?
Well, thank you, Drew. It's an honor and a pleasure to tell you that Clark Pumping Shop is the sponsor of this segment.
Don't commit a party foul.
Get tailgate ready at Clark's Puppet Shop.
They have everything you need for your tailgate at home, watch party, whatever you're going to do.
You know, all good morning to start at Clark's Puppet Shop, where every cup of coffee is freshly brewed.
Their coffee makers grind fresh beans and brew a fresh cup every time.
So ditch the expensive coffee shops and stop at Clark's Puppet Shop.
You know, most Clark's Puppet Shop also have a drive-thru.
That's what's good.
He's a drive-thru.
You don't have to get out of your car to get your chicken sandwich or chicken biscuits good and a fresh cup of coffee.
So they have Clark's Puppet Shop.
They're everywhere.
There are local folks giving back to the community
sponsoring local sports teams, non-profits,
and of course, the blue and white at UK.
Shop from people who care about the bluegrass.
Clark's Pubbit Shop, return, refresh, refuel!
Oh, wow, some enthusiasm in that one.
I did a little refueling with them this morning.
I always like Clark.
Shout out Clarks.
I have a segment I want to do here.
It's golf related because it is one of the best times of the year.
The Ryder Cup officially starts tomorrow,
and it's not lost on me that not everyone loves golf,
including the people on this show, except Billy.
Billy likes golf with me.
He's going to help me.
But I'm going to try to convince you all to like golf at least for a weekend.
Okay.
You specifically, Shannon.
All right, let's care.
The Ryder Cup is no ordinary event.
Do you know anything about it?
No, it's just golf.
It's not just golf, though.
This is where I think you might like it.
A, it's Team USA versus the Europeans.
So we got a little patriotism involved.
They heckle.
You have you for that?
I love heckling.
Okay.
So I know this is where I feel like we can
get somewhere. I know you're very big on
why does it have to be quiet? Yes. At the
Ryder Cup, you can yell, you can
boo, you can USA, USA.
There's even a clip that just came out of yesterday's
practice round where Coach O, the football coach,
is at the front of the stands leading
a USA chant while golf is being
played behind. Like that? So are
so far, are you leaning in whatsoever
to the rider? I like it so far.
I like what I'm hearing. Continue.
Well, there's been some big events.
It's not just the crowd, the chance.
and all that which they encourage. They have a few things
that I think you all could also appreciate. I'll start
with one big Rider Cup moment
that Ryan, you might be able to relate to.
In 2012, at Medina
in Chicago, Rory McElroy,
one of the biggest golfers
on the planet. I've heard of him, yeah.
Representing Europe in a high-stakes match.
This only happens every two years. It's not quite
the World Cup, but it is a big deal
that's not played every year. Ryan, Rory
overslept his teetown. He thought
they were on Easter time, they were on
Central Time. They got him a police
escort to where he was putting his shoes on on the T-box and got there into the absolute last
minute. Can you believe that an event of this magnitude, it is possible to oversleep and barely
get there? You know, it happens to the best of us sometimes. We set that alarm clock wrong and
wake up at the wrong time, so I can see how it happened to him, but he made it. That's all
it matters. He made it. Golf that day. He tried to represent his country. Did he win?
Actually, that match he did win. I did win. I was going to bring that up to ask, has Ryan
Lemon overslept anything major.
Daily. See where I'm not, I'm doing golf without doing golf here.
Well, yesterday afternoon, I slept through the Infinity Seminar with Iheart.
You slept through a KSR pre-show.
I did.
And Don Franklin, it left me hanging.
In Somerset.
Shannons in Somerset, it starts at 9 o'clock.
I wake up at 8.20.
Anytime Ryan agrees to do the pre-show, I just pretty much expect him to oversleep.
He texts me now like three or four times.
Here's your wake-up call.
Here you go.
Are you up? Are you ready to go?
So you and Rory have that in common?
Yes, absolutely, yes.
Do you think the police escort's fair?
Is it big enough that he just you have to eat it and just?
No, I think it's fair.
Here's the thing.
The next time I oversleep for, you know, an I heart event or maybe, you know, just going
into work, I think I should get a police escort.
You didn't have a police escort coming into Don Franklin.
No, I did.
You probably should have got one of those faster.
There was a policeman chasing me all the way down on I-75 trying to get down there.
You were escorting him to Don Brown.
That's right.
Yeah.
Also breaking up the coat of golf, Shannon.
In 1999, one of the most iconic rider cup.
moments ever. Justin Leonard made a 45 foot put put to secure the biggest comeback in the 17,
72 year history of the Ryder Cup. But it was a big deal because the match wasn't over. A European
still had to putt, but the American players, wives, and some other people stormed the green and
completely broke all golf etiquette to celebrate a put when the round wasn't over.
Are you leaning into the Ryder Cup a little bit? Yeah, I think we should do this all the time.
I think we should take the Ryder Cup rules and apply it to golf universally.
Absolutely.
Why don't they do that on a normal golf event?
Why can't the fans cheer and heckle it?
It's always been my argument.
Like, you know, could you imagine?
Like Patrick Mahomes going, oh, they're being too loud.
I can't throw this football right now.
Or in baseball, you know, a guy going, I can't hit.
You guys are being too loud.
It's a gentleman's game.
Yeah.
Well, to that point, the energy is just different in the Ryder Cup.
Roy McElroy made a long putt and was screaming, yelling.
Patrick Reed made a put right after it.
He went up to him and did the McKenbe Matumbo.
No, no, no.
not today. Why don't they do that on a normal tour event?
See, Billy, I think they're coming around.
See, we're talking about all these other sports having to evolve,
that golf hasn't evolved at all.
It's still, you know, you've got to be quiet,
and you can't yell out of somebody's back swing.
Yeah, you know what, that's right.
They get ready to, they're addressing the ball,
and they hear a click, click, click, click,
somebody taking a camera band, and they blow up.
Act like it's the worst thing that's ever happened to him.
If that bothers you, somebody clicking their camera,
then you don't deserve to be out there.
I'm with you, man.
You don't deserve to be there.
You tell them, Ryan.
They should haul them off.
This is about country.
All bets are off in the router cup.
So why not celebrate and talk smack and have fun out there?
A few more moments I think you all will like.
2008, Valhalla, the golfer named Boo Weekly.
It's his one and only Router Cup.
He's only been in at one time.
He was phenomenal.
I believe he went undefeated, including at one point, he teed off and then rode his driver down the fairway like a bull,
kind of smacking the back of it.
Now, is that a kind of golf you could get into?
Absolutely, yeah.
I feel like golfers are, they try to be too professional.
They can't show any kind of personality.
I like that.
Ryan Lemon, if you were golfing and hit a good shot, I can see you doing the boo weekly down the fairway.
I'd do it with my shirt off going down the fairway, ride my driver.
See, I like Daly.
John Daly's got it.
He's got it made.
Yeah.
Okay, so what is that event?
And it's in Phoenix where they throw their beer up in the air.
Waste Man and Phoenix Open.
Why don't they do that more often?
That's where a baton I just played this spring.
It doesn't look the same without the stands there.
It looks like any normal part three, but that's the closest thing to the Rider Cup on the regular scale.
See, I like John Daly out there, drinking a beer, smoking a cigar.
That's how I would play golf.
The last rider crub, an American caddy went after Roy McRoy in the parking lot after a round.
They were doing a screaming match.
One guy wouldn't wear a hat.
That probably doesn't help our argument, Drew, but that was a big controversy last year.
See, like, Sheffler getting arrested to me is the most exciting thing to happen in golf in years.
I need my golfers getting arrested and, like, all sorts of things like that.
Sheffler was crying after a little.
losing last year. So he's got a big redemption time here. They should take a lesson from wrestling.
Yes. Have the golfers cut a promo before they go out there to the Riders Cup. Absolutely.
Yes. One more Rider Cup story I want to share and it's my favorite. You really need to see the video.
I understand this is radio, but I'm going to do my best to paint this picture. But in 2016,
a guy named David Johnson, he's an insurance agent from North Dakota. He was heckling the Europeans during a
practice round. There was a putt. There was like a double breaker. The Europeans were like this is an
possible put. They're missing, they're missing, they're missing. He's just giving them the business.
The Europeans call him out of the crowd and dare him to make it. They each bet him $400.
You're talking the biggest names in golf. Pulled David Johnson, the insurance agent from the crowd,
hand him a putter with everyone around Channing USA, and he drains it.
Yes. I was hoping you were going to say that. One try. That's one you'll definitely have to look
up online. It's an electric video. But the Europeans could not figure out the putt. He's yelling,
you stink, USA, USA. And they say, come here, big boy, if you're so,
good, you do it. He throws his putter, both hands go on the air, and the crowd absolutely loses
them. Well, there you go. Leave it to an American to show everybody else how to do it. And this is a
special tournament this year, Drew. I mean, it being in New York, the captain for the United
States is Keegan Bradley, who went to St. John's, I mean, was just a kid and grew up on that
course. So, I mean, this is a really special one, at least for the Americans, and they need to win it.
There's also a KSR connection. This is Beth Page Black, where Matt shot Bob in a lay by himself.
Yeah, maybe Matt should be out there. There's a picture. There's a picture.
picture going around right now that are people getting to Beth page for practice rounds and stuff.
And it literally is a sign that says this course is only for highly skilled golfers.
And that's kind of going around.
But this is where Matt's iconic round with no witnesses occurred.
But he finished on that round?
He says 83.
The number changes quite often.
I think 84 is what we settled on.
Sometimes you forget what details you make.
When you're making up stories, you know, sometimes you forget.
Well, come on.
We know Matt is a very honest golfer that would never break the rules on the golf course.
Never pick up a putt short.
No, not to use the foot wedge.
No, I think I fully believe he shot an 83 on Beth Page Black.
And then he made the turn.
To wrap up my Rider Cup talk because I'm very, very excited about it.
This has been a good segment.
Yeah, the dumb stuff.
No one wants to break down with our matchups and things this year.
I am a little worried that Europeans are going to win.
However, I want to ask, let's say you're representing the country.
I don't know why any of us would be picked for a Rider Cup.
Hey, Bill.
But in sports, what's the thing you think you could do with the country?
Let's say a six-foot put, a free throw, maybe hit a curveball and play.
Country on the line, country behind you.
What's the one, not like a whole round, but what's one thing you think you could do in one take?
You're the insurance salesman from North Dakota that came out and made that put.
Well, you know, my putting skills are go, you know, damn precedent.
I figure we're going to throw you out on that one.
I think we're losing that war if you're representing our country.
But if you throw me a fastball, not a curveball, a fastball.
I think at least I could hit it.
No.
Who's throwing the fastball?
Anybody?
Oh, please.
Paul Skeens is throwing you a fastball and you think you can hit it.
I get more than one try, right?
You get in a bat.
And it's got to be a fastball.
It can't be a curve ball or a slider, just a fastball.
Three fastballs down the middle you won't touch.
I'm going to at least get the bat on.
The entire United States is watching Chosy.
That's why I would not let my country down.
These colors don't run.
They strike out, though, against Paul Skeins.
He might strike me out, but I'm going to get a bat on the ball.
I like our eyes better with the put.
Shannon, what are you doing?
Oh, gosh.
We've thrown you in.
Okay.
Any sport.
Any Olympic sport, even?
Or even it's not a sport.
What do you think if the whole country needs you to do it, you can pull it off?
You know, they have rowing, and they got the one guy in the back that goes, row, bro.
I could do that.
Ro, that's the one thing I could do well.
The Coxman?
I think they call it the Coxman.
Well, that's what they call me back in college.
But no, I think I could do that.
What about the guy in curling that just sweeps the ice?
After they hit the curling thing, you got to be able to ice skate, though.
Right?
No, you're on foot there.
No, you're on foot there.
Billy, what are you doing with it?
Well, I could throw a hay bale if my country needs me.
That's not a rule of that.
That's a made-up event.
Thank you.
Let's give Billy a little pop there.
He is the hayback champion.
The greatest deleted scene in the Netflix show wrestlers has to be me piping a drive down the middle for Matt's group.
When nobody in the group could get it in the fairway, I was never been more nervous, Ryan.
I mean, the Netflix cameras are right there, and I end up piping it.
Had to sign the waiver.
I think I'm going to be on the dock.
Yeah.
Didn't make the cut.
So send me out there on the Ryder Cup, Drew, I'll hit a drive down the middle.
We'll go alternate shot because I trust my putting.
I would pick a putt here.
I think I could do it.
Okay.
So you get us to the green and I'll make it for America.
I love it.
I had a weird story at the Router Cup in Louisville years ago.
Me and my buddy, we got flags.
We were going to get them signed.
And we started with the Europeans.
You know, knock these out, and then we'll finish the day with the American.
So we followed them around for nonholes.
My flag is signed by Europe's entire team.
We go to the back nine and they announced the Americans quit after nine holes for the day.
I didn't see a single American ball.
So at home, I have a flag sign of all the bad guys.
But that was in Valhalla.
It is neat getting out there.
It is a fun event.
It always has some magic.
Historically, Tiger Woods never played well in this event.
So it's not just like a given.
Scottie didn't play well last time.
Right. But Kenny Perry and John Holmes, J.B. Holmes both played really well that one year when it was in.
Justin Thomas can be Captain America.
There's a controversial.
He'll put him on the team two years ago and he played well.
But we got that going on this weekend.
Billy, I'm sure you'll be dialed in.
They got killed in.
got killed last year in Europe. So there is
like a redemption. USA needs
to win this. I kind of like Drew
though. Europe has more talent.
Big Oberg, Governor.
Thank you all for letting me talk golf for a segment. We'll come back
to a little more Kentucky sports. Take your calls.
Still got a lot of Ham Day to talk about.
We finally planned our
we're not going to call it hog calling. We're going to
rally the pigs. Rally the pigs. Because
you know, it is nice for Ham Days
to host us. And they got a big trophy.
It's just the calling the hogs.
That's what Cal does. We want to let Cal
that with the chicken people. We will rally the pigs. I think we'll do the final segment.
And did we, a volunteer out of the crowd is going to teach us and then we'll all try our hand at it.
Johnny Rocker's dad, Mr. Elder, he's going to come up and tell us how to do it.
So we've got that coming up and we want to hear more from you all on the phone line.
859-28027. We'll be right back from Lebanon.

And we're still chasing it.
And we don't know when we've done enough.
Because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and losses.
Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on Earth.
Are you a good person because you're afraid?
Because that's two different intentions, bro.
Absolutely.

From the WMBA standout, Kate Martin,

If a boy can do it, I don't see why a girl can't.
Like, I've never understood that.
Like, it didn't make sense in my brain.
It's hard to be in spaces that no one looks like you,

Don't let that be the reason you don't do it.

Welcome back. KSR. Drew Franklin, Ryan Lemon, Shannon the dude, Billy Relage, Mario Maitland.
A lot of people from Lebanon, including Johnny Elder, the rocker.
We're happy to be here at Ham Days. It's a top-10 event in Kentucky.
We've already sampled the country ham biscuits.
Very good.
Shannon. Well, actually, let me get this ad read out of the way.
I want you to talk about your history here.
But first, real quickly from our friends of UKFCU, there's some wild myths floating around about UK Credit Union.
Let's go on and bust them.
Myth one, you've got to be part of UK to join.
Bless your heart, that's such a myth.
Myth two, joining as a whole ordeal.
Come on, that one's just plain wrong.
Myth busted.
The truth is a lot of Kentuckians are missing out on great rates and real benefits,
and you can join at one of seven local branches or online in just under three minutes,
whether you wear blue and white or not.
Because at UK Credit Union, we're not just for some, we're for y'all.
All y'all.
All y'all.
Membership eligibility required, federally insured by NCA that UK Federal Credit Union,
Shannon, country Ham Days,
Ham Days here in Marion County.
This ain't your first rodeo.
You've been doing this since way back.
Oh, yeah.
My grandparents were big fans of Ham Days here in Lebanon.
So as a kid, we would get up.
I was telling Billy this on the pre-show.
We'd have to get up at like 5.30 in the morning and drive to Lebanon
because we had to be the first people in line.
My grandfather would not be, he did not want to stand in line.
So he wanted to be the first people there.
And every year, probably from like, for me,
I would say around 1987,
through 2000, 13, 14 years, something like that straight, every single ham day.
We didn't miss it. It didn't matter. Rain or shine. We were there getting that country ham
breakfast. And I had a biscuit from Cedarwood this morning. They also got a really good
sausage egg and cheese biscuit. Is that what you're, no, you're doing. I got the ham and cheese.
You got the ham and some of that. But it's really good stuff. Always enjoy ham days. Like I said,
Alice Bluegown played here a couple of years ago. Always a lot of fun. My dad was actually born in
Lebanon. So I've got some tie-ins with Lebanon, I felt like.
Yeah, that's right.
So was Abraham Lincoln.
That's right.
You're wearing a Lebanon shirt.
I am, yeah, this is from last year, year before.
Mario wears his like every other day.
Mario loves from Lebanon.
He knows the Epps family.
Mario knows Marion County well.
Ryan, what are some other big festivals around the state?
We would love Ham Days, but you're in Owensboro God,
been in the barbecue festival.
Barbecue Festival is a big, big fan of that one.
We were just at the Mount Laurel Festival.
Mount Laurel Festival.
What else we got?
Fort days?
The chicken festival in London, I think, is this weekend.
because I think they're debuting the movie, the documentary about the South Laurel basketball team.
They're going to play it at noon.
They're in downtown London, and then they've got the big world's largest frying pan.
Have you seen that?
Not in person, but I've seen the pictures.
Yeah, the world's largest frying pan.
They make all this chicken down there, so that's a big one too.
Did the Louisville Catholic picnics count?
Because those are some of the most fun times I've had.
Chan, you've been out there before?
I mean, Tony and Dwight used to do their show every day.
And they always, every week.
They would do it, but they would do it with their shirts off.
I've never understood that.
There's a picture of.
Tony Dwight and you with your shirt off.
Nick Roush.
I don't know.
We don't need to do that.
Ryan does that at some of our, you know,
pep talks,
but I don't think we need them to do the entire show with this shirt off.
All the beer drinking and gambling that's definitely.
Yeah, but a lot of great festivals.
This is one of my favorite ones in Kentucky that happens every year.
And glad to be here.
I was telling the guys I may come back on Saturday and just look around
and, you know, see some of the vendors that are here.
Hillbilly Days.
Oh, definitely.
Daniel Boone Festival down in Barville.
I've been to Hilliballie Days.
Dib Rock down at Corbyn.
There's a bunch of them.
No Billy Days with Carl Towns one time for his autograph signing.
That was, Matt's mentioned Ramell being down there.
Yeah.
You know, they usually get a couple of UK basketball players there around to meet everybody and have a good time.
Ryan, what do you think your pokey pig 5K time would be?
First of all, what is a 5K?
How many miles is that?
Like 3.1 miles?
So how long do you think in the year 2025 of our Lord?
It would take Ryan Lemon to run three miles.
Okay, first of all, run is a stretch.
Okay.
I'd be walking.
So I'm saying I could make in one hour
Give me one hour I can make a 3.1
Race, one hour.
Okay, so you're going to walk it?
20 minutes a mile.
You think you can walk a 20 minute mile?
Yeah.
Okay.
I've been on the cover of the Courier Journal
for being in a 5K.
Really?
Is that right?
This little athlete right here that you're looking at.
Well, were you 12?
No, I actually met my wife there as well.
It was the color run.
Are you all familiar with the color?
Oh, yeah.
They throw paint all over here, right?
Well, we had a Lexington Tin Roof team
to celebrate opening 10 roof in Louisville.
We did not go to bed the night before.
And then we got on a bus and went all the way to Louisville.
The party continued on the bus.
We get to the color run.
I am not my best self, and I wasn't going to run 5K anyway.
So me and a friend, we start the race.
We see a little cut through path and we jump to the end.
Nice.
We didn't cross first or anything.
We weren't like still in the glory.
We were still pretty far back.
But then it hit us.
We get back to the area where everyone's celebrating.
We did it.
And we are red.
And everyone else is rainbow.
We didn't think that went through.
You don't know.
Through areas where they actually throw colors at you.
Everyone comes back in just a smattering of purple, yellow, green, orange.
No, me and Corey just cut through the red part.
So that's my 1-5K at the color run in Louisville.
Didn't think that one through.
You should have went up and gave somebody a big hug and just rub their colors all over you.
So you got busted.
I had a big American flag.
That's the picture on like a pole, like Hacksaw Jim Duggan.
So that was on the cover.
I wanted to ask you about another Louisville Festival.
Yeah.
I saw videos of louder than life.
Yeah.
The Mosh Pit.
I know people Mosh at rock concerts, but that, where they like separate and run at each other, like
the wall of, I think it's the wall of death.
Yeah, it looks like Braveheart.
They're just running at each other.
Yeah, that's not something I partake in.
When that stuff happens, I try to get out of the way.
Usually I'm either way in the back or all the way up to the front, but I don't want to be
anywhere in the middle.
That's something they do where they separate, like you said.
So imagine 60 to 70,000 people.
They all separate and they make this big aisle right down the middle.
And then whoever's up on stage will say, all right, everybody go.
And then they just run into each other like a really, I don't know, crazy version of Red Rover.
You know, and they just, they mosh.
But that's nothing that I want to do.
I feel like you could break some bones easily doing something like that.
I've always heard of moshing and all that at concerts, but it's what they did normal or is that unique to Louisville?
And what did it?
You have to sign a waiver?
People were bloodied up and punching.
That's part of it.
I mean, when you go into the pit, you have to expect that something like that's going.
to happen. I mean, even if you crowd serve, the way they've got it set up now, there's all
concrete. So if somebody drops you on your head, you're going to be hitting concrete.
That's just part of it. It's part of it when you get into the mosh and you realize that there's
a good chance you're going to get your head knocked off while you're in there.
Wow, you really make it sound appealing. I can't wait to go next year.
Well, I mean, for somebody old like you, you should probably stay in the back and grab a lot of chair.
Yeah. Well, I'd just been at the first one, Burbanked at Berman and Beyond had an absolute blast.
Much more laid back. Yeah, and I figured they'd be similar, but that video was wild. I
no part of it. Yeah, yeah. It's on a different level.
Latter than Life is Bourbon and Beyond on steroids, but they just announced the numbers over 450,000 people between the two that broke a record for both of those festivals and $43 million brought in.
That's why they do it.
For the economic impact of Louisville.
That's why they do it right there.
So if you're in the Moshpit, you catch an elbow or a fist to the face, is that just like you got to take that?
It's part of it.
It's part of it. The only rule of a Moshpit is if somebody gets knocked down, you pick them up.
You don't allow them to just get trampled. That's the only rule.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Well, one person I would definitely want to be in a mosh pit with,
if I have to do it, is Bob and Jamestown.
Oh, yeah.
There are always some way I can talk to Bob and James Town.
Really?
Yeah.
I can maybe even invite him to a mosh pit.
Rick, do you know a way to get a hold of Bob and Jamestown?
Yeah, all I do is push this button here and you got them.
Oh, hit the Bob button.
Matt's not here.
Bob, you have the floor.
I'm not cutting you off.
What do you say, guys?
I was at that HOO concert in Cincinnati, and I picked a few up.
But anyway, I got a new shoulder on Tuesday.
I'm down here on a deck.
It's beautiful out here.
I'd like to be up there eating some of that
in the country ham.
But Eddie Brown, is he showed up the Turtle Man?
I know he's over there with his mother in Bradford'sville.
But Eddie can get busy with some of those garbage-sized cans
alligator snappers.
Well, we might try to call him.
We have his number.
Do you have his number where we could just double-check mine?
Make sure it's right.
Hi, Eddie's the trip.
Anyway, I had to put a shout out for Tiffany and Vansans.
Over at Good Samaritan Hospital they took the best care of me Tuesday afternoon when I got that new left shoulder
And Bob's getting a good time. That's right. Yeah
Good talking to you guys letting get that arm please I'm glad your shoulder surgery went well
I'll be honest I was gonna let you say whatever you wanted that was a pretty normal call with Matt gone I was gonna let you say
Whatever but guess we got to go to a break call back Bob yeah that's gone next week we want to hear from you again
It's Drew Ryan Shannon and Billy we'll be right back at Ham days in Marion County
This is not Matt Jones.
Matt Jones is currently running with hyenas in South Africa.
This is Drew Franklin, running with hyenas here next to me.
Amen.

I was looking on draft kings.
It is a five and a half point spread for Kentucky, South Carolina.
It's coming down a little bit.
It was in six and a half.
I told you to bet the under yesterday.
Reds Pirates, I got it at seven and a half.
It was seven.
Yep.
Go the under.
Oh, you hit it.
It was seven.
Well, congratulations.
Tonight we got a little Thursday night football.
Everyone should head to KS.
Barter,
why?
Cardinals and Seahawks.
You're going to be throwing away, not throwing away,
throwing out draft king's stuff, some fun tonight.
I'm going to stop by also, but I'm a little behind on life here lately,
so I got a few things to do.
Yeah, we've got some free tickets to give away to the Eric Church concert tonight.
Come on by.
We play a little contest to try to give those tickets away.
Look at all these kuzis.
Nobody wanted the kuzis.
We'll start throwing those out.
Yeah.
I'll take those with me.
The beads, too. Ryan doesn't get to take the beads.
I don't trust him.
We don't know what Ryan's going to do with those beads.
Speaking of which, Aveson Glass Tech Machine.
Have about it.
Avon 2.
I've been waiting to read this one.
Yeah, how about it?
And we're talking about Marissa having a crush on Nick Sabin.
Yeah.
Billy's girlfriend, fiancé.
This one is, well, I just missed.
I just lost.
Turned a German on.
Yeah it said basically it said my wife has a crush on Ryan and she's 30
Oh, boucha pow-paw-paw-paw hey right way wait wait wait somebody actually said your wife I got to find it yeah yeah you got to find it
You got to find it doesn't exist I had it and then I don't know what I let's what I was that it right there's one of those Matt Jones text you just made it up oh here it is Ryan don't feel so bad my wife has a crush on Ryan oh wow 30 by the way oh okay
Uh-huh.
Okay, that's enough.
Don't you have a girlfriend?
She's working right now.
Yoga girl loves you.
She's in class right now.
All right.
Thanks for that addition.
We're talking a little football NFL tonight, which reminds me, Billy.
Yesterday during cover zero, I had my weekly Titans meltdown like I do.
Brian Callahan is still unfortunately our head coach, but he handed off play calling duties.
Big fan of that.
I wish he'd hand off all duties.
But Billy always, during our show, Matt wants Billy to give one.
fun fact, and we're previewing Titans' Texans
yesterday, and Billy told me something about my own
favorite NFL team that I did not even know.
Your new play caller, the quarterback's coach, Bo Hardegree,
played at the University of Tennessee.
I knew that, which is fine.
You know, we got a lot of vols around the Titans.
I deal with it all the time.
Only played one game and then quit the football team to join the tennis team.
So my new play caller...
So now he's playing calling for the Titans.
Yeah.
Every time I say our floor couldn't get lower,
I'm like, well, surely we've hit the bottom,
especially after the end of the first half last week.
We made a questionable trade,
and now Billy is telling me that our new play caller
quit football to play tennis.
Guys, I'm just in a dark place with football right now.
I need to win big, at least with Kentucky on Saturday.
Titans probably aren't going to win a game,
but Billy found a way to make it even worse with that fun fact yesterday.
That's your Drive King's safe bet.
Just bet the Titans lose every game this year.
There you go.
It's not much fun when you're learning that your coach.
They're going to fire mid-season, right?
Like, Callahan can't be the coach at the end of the year.
And if not, I will continue to complain about it.
Another news topic that went viral today, have you all seen Zion Williamson?
He has not been eating country hamilton.
Oh, is he looking good?
Get out your phone to look at Zion Williamson.
You will not believe.
If he walked in right now wearing a Zion Williamson jersey, you would not believe he is Zion Williamson.
He is so skinny.
He's like bones now.
He has a jaw.
He's always been kind of round, even when he was at his best.
I don't know if he's on the O-Zemik.
Here, let me pull it.
He's slimmed down.
I can see his jawline a lot better.
He's unrecognizable.
Unrecognizable.
Oh, that's no way that's him.
That is him.
Look, there he is right there.
That he, well, he needed to.
He just lost a little baby fat.
He needed to trim down if he was wanted to stay in the league for more than a week.
He's even got like this evil twin goatee thing going on.
So my question is, we had all given up on Zion a little bit.
And I know he's a Duke guy.
You know, we have our thoughts.
But he was supposed to be this.
big spectacular high-flying player and he's he's had moments when he's been healthy weight
been a big problem in new orleans now that we see skinny zion ozimpic zion is there will he be back
is there more zion life i mean that's down that's got to be a hundred pounds yeah i definitely
feel like if he's dedicated himself that much to lose the weight he's going to dedicate himself
that way on the court i think maybe he's in for a big season like his best season by far i mean yeah
he's still young he didn't forget how to play basketball he's in
shape now. And, you know, he was decent when he wasn't in shape. So imagine how good he could be
now that he is. I don't know. This just feels like the bare minimum, right? I mean, he was getting,
he's getting paid millions of dollars to be the face of the franchise and he can't make weight.
Like, let's see. Let's see. I don't know. Well, now he's getting made fun of for being too skinny,
including me doing it right now. But there's part of him that's like, poor guy, first I'm too
fat. I'll lose the way you wanted me to lose. And now everyone's making fun of me on the internet for
being too skinny. But that was just a shocking development from the NBA today, Media Day, Camps and all that
stuff coming out. Also, have you seen the Mike Trout 400th ball thing that happened earlier this
week? No, what happens? This is for you, baseball guys. Yeah. Mike Trout had his 400th career home run.
Big deal. Big milestone. Big deal. A fan, I guess the name, Alberto, fan catches it. You know,
Trout needs the ball. Fan gives it back to it. He could probably get, you know, whatever he wanted.
Jersey, bats, hats. He said, I just want to play catch for a few minutes. So Mike Trout came out and the two of them just
played catch after the game went their separate ways.
That's cool. I like that. Okay, so I was going to hit you with the weird or awesome.
I know you guys might get a little greedy from time to time. Do you think he should have asked for
more or is that just a nice, wholesome moment where he and Trout threw the ball around a little bit?
I love it. That's awesome. That is a baseball moment that everybody will talk about now.
It's not being greedy. He doesn't want tickets. Doesn't want a jersey. He just wants to play catch with his
hero. Just like somebody he looks up to who wouldn't want that as a baseball fan. So I think it's awesome.
100%.
I think it's great, too.
A lot of people would probably get a bunch of stuff signed,
and then probably that would end up in a sports card business,
and they would end up selling it to somebody
and making money off of it.
I think it's a really cool thing that he just said,
let's just go play catch.
Hopefully somebody gets some really cool video and pictures of that
so he can have that forever.
Trout ended up signing a few things,
but the guy just asked to play catch.
He didn't ask for anything else.
That's a shocking answer from Shannon.
I mean, if you're the wife of Alberto
and he doesn't come back with a ball
that you can put on eBay for $200,000,
dollars like are you just not livid like i what do you mean play catch i mean he's a 40-year-old man
isn't he's not some kid i will say i didn't expect yeah the dude to be in on this i thought
shannon was going to want a check and uh front row season tickets for the next two years
dude that the best sports scene in all of hollywood is when kevin costner ask his dad hey dad you
want to have a catch right at the end of field of dreams there's something about playing catch
if a trout isn't his daddy but it doesn't they're about the same age that's his hero
It could be his hero.
There's something about playing catch, whether it's your buddy, your hero, your dad, your kid.
It's just special.
I love it.
Even though he probably could have gotten a lot more, there's no.
You know, what's money?
You know, what's a couple hundred thousand dollars to get you out of debt?
I like that, though.
We start talking about money.
Well, I'm a Billy on the shocking.
He fumbled the bag.
Another one we mentioned Tayshon, Prince, and Rondo went to practice earlier this week.
They've come out in clips, videos behind the scenes, which is cool.
but they were also inducted to the Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame this week.
Ryan, I know you cover both those guys, Tatian, especially when you were still in the biz on that end.
He got some good Tashon and Rondo memories.
Excuse me, Cobb was the one.
Yeah, Cobb.
Sorry, I called it, but Prince and Cobb going in.
And then also Rondo was joining Prince in practice over this week.
Tashon Prince was just off the court, a really quiet, shy guy.
He was kind of hard to interview and talk to because that was just his nature.
He was just kind of a quiet dude.
But boy, he could get him on the court.
He was just a beast.
One of the best ever play here.
Rondo was hard to talk to.
He was kind of difficult to deal with.
I mean, I remember Alan Cutler went to him one time and asked him five or six questions,
and every answer was just yes, no, no.
He just didn't want to talk that day.
And now Cobb, he's doing media.
We see a little bit of him.
He does a great job on SEC.
But to tie Rondo back into it, the video came out of what he was telling the team.
And he kind of even admitted, you know, like not knowing how.
how much the university would mean until later in life because he just came back in May,
got his degree.
You know, his kids have connections here.
So the Rondo you covered as a freshman has grown up and had a lot of good things to say about
UK and he's still around all the time.
I don't think it's certainly not the last time we'll see Rondo being a part of a UK practice
or talking to the guys.
I loved what Rondo said to the team.
He came in and said, man, you got to appreciate what it means to wear that jersey.
You may not appreciate until you get older like me, but once you get older, you realize
what it means to put that jersey on.
He goes, I played with the Lakers, I play with the Celtics.
The best fans anywhere are right here at UK.
I mean, Rondo really, I think, give a really good talk to the team the other day.
Definitely.
We talked about Kemp yesterday, Jojo Kemp, joining us with a good time for the South Carolina game.
You know, Randall Cobb going on the Hall of Fame.
He had a pretty good South Carolina game himself too, catching the one of the game winning pass
and one of the bigger games that turned things around with that team.
Randall Cobb deserves a lot of credit for what happened with this program.
The Jojo game, that South Carolina game, but Randall Cobb kind of like John Wall made, Kentucky.
basketball cool again.
Randall Cobb kind of made Kentucky football cool again, you know.
So we owe him a lot of gratitude.
And people forget Hartline who hit Cobb.
That's true.
He's on the staff right now as an analyst.
I even forget that.
Sometimes you look over and say, oh, yeah.
Mike Harline is back wearing UK blue.
Mike Hartline's senior season was as good as any quarterback we've had here in a long time
and people don't even think about it because of what was going on at the other
at that time.
He was great.
And you've heard Stoops.
You've heard Stoops talk about how good he'd been with the quarterbacks with Cutter,
you're trying to help him develop into the quarterback they want him to be.
And the other player, Tashon, let's put his name and number in the rafters, right?
I mean, it's about time after something like this.
We just found out we play North Carolina in Rupp at 930 at night.
Let's just do it then.
Perfect time to do it, representing, you know, remembering that at North Carolina game, we hit five threes.
That's the time to do it.
Do it.
It's time.
It's also time to get to our pig rowling.
We've gone over the news topics.
We've had our fun.
We've talked ham, but Billy didn't come here to talk.
Billy came here to win.
He's had a look in his eyes since we've.
got to Marion County this morning.
We're going to take a break, and when we come back, I guess we're all going to try our hand.
We're not, we're not cogs.
That's what the Tyson people do down there in Fayetteville.
Are you agreeing to this?
I don't know if I've signed the box to agree to this yet.
Okay.
We're rallying the pigs.
It's not calling on.
We're rallying the pigs.
It has nothing to do with what they do at Arkansas.
Billy just has this look at determination.
We're going to have a little help come up here to teach us how to do it.
But that'll be right after this break as we wrap up this fun show in Marion County.
This is KSR.
We'll be right back.

Steve Burns, Dustin Ross,

Like, it didn't make sense in my brain.

Don't let that be the reason you don't do it.

Thank you, Rick.
Always got that nice music to get us fired up.

You know, just get your juices flowing when Rick's playing the music.
Rick plays the hits for sure.
But thanks for producing Rick.
It's been fun.
We've got one more segment here at Ham Days, sponsored by Lebanon Tourism and Johnny Rocker Law.
We've even brought up part of the Johnny Rocker family.
to help us through this last seven, Ryan?
Yeah, this is John Elder the third.
The third.
Johnny Rocker's John Elder the fourth,
and you just said his son is John Elder the fifth.
That's correct.
Jack, we call him Jack.
That's right.
Had too many John, so we went to Jack on the youngest one.
Well, you came up here, you graciously volunteered to teach us
how to make these noises.
I hate saying called hogs.
We're rallying the pigs.
But we were talking to you off the air,
and you mentioned how much this has changed since the first.
Oh, yeah.
The history Ham Days is amazing.
you know, Ham Day started in 1969.
Okay, 19609 was the first Ham Days.
It was a few local business owners that got together and decided, hey, how can we attract people to the community?
How can we let them know this jewel we have right here in Central Kentucky?
The heart of Kentucky called Lebanon, Kentucky.
So in 1969 it started, they served a total, whopping total of about six country hamps that first.
Six.
Six.
Six country ham days.
And, for example, this weekend, as I was still doing it, this weekend,
we'll actually have well, probably between 40, 50,000 people come in.
So that's how much it's grown.
Wow.
I mean, it's amazing.
And we're glad to have them down here.
It's amazing.
The community comes together, supports everyone, the operation, a large volunteer,
all basically volunteer bases.
So it's great to have you guys down here, the KSR team as part of the kickoff to the
20-25 country Hamday.
Do you work for the tourism board?
I caught that the heart of Kentucky because you all, you're like literally the heart when you look at the shape of Kentucky, right?
Yeah, that's right.
I heard you work that in.
No, Johnny Rocker, my fine son just made sure he said, Dad, make sure you pump up Lebanon, Marion County, and small, you know, Johnny Rocker.
Small town compassion with big city results.
Thank you for correct.
Yeah, Drew, thank you.
We got to get to the big moment.
Billy's been waiting for this for a year.
Billy.
He refuses to defend his haybelly championship, so he can have that on Shantown.
forever. So the nice people here at Ham Days came up with the new contest. We're going to call it
rallying the pigs. But Shannon, if you decide, I think we're all going to participate. You guys go
right ahead. Shannon's going to sit this up. Shannon. Come on Shannon. Shannon, man up. Cowboy up, Shannon.
Well, we're definitely, I'm going to do my best, but it's really, I think we're going to make it a Ryan
versus Billy head-to-head. I'm going to do it too. But this, we're just going to consider this
the championship since there's only a few of us. But before we get started on ours, let me take
that headset off a little bit. I don't want to go deaf. I'm going to hold it out here for you.
But John is going to give us an exam.
of the noise you're supposed to make when you're trying.
Okay.
Yeah, I just want to say real quick.
Try to help Billy out because I'm a big fan of Billy.
Aren't we all?
That makes one of us.
Shannon is so quick.
There are five keys to calling a hog.
Okay.
You got to have a woo in there.
You got to have a suey.
You got to have a pig.
You got to have a squill and you got to have a grunt.
Okay.
You got all five of those?
That's fine.
All right.
I just want to remind everyone that we do not like the Arkansas Razorbacks.
We just love Marion County, and whatever they want us to do, we're going to play along.
I'm just going to kind of hold this out here a little bit and let you give us the good example.
All right. Thank you, John. That was beautiful.
That was beautiful.
I want to remind you all I hate Arkansas.
Ryan put the headset on. You're next.
Yeah, but Billy, you want to win championships.
You're a winner. You consider yourself the Tom Brady of Ham Days.
If you're going to keep this dynasty going, we're going to do your head set out.
You versus Ryan, you all want to get out here in the front?
Yeah, yeah, come on over here.
Ryan, because Billy is defending champion, you are going to have to go first.
I'll go first.
We're a little tangled.
And Ryan, as we did with him, please do not yell.
Don't hold that right there in front of a speaker.
Don't step over the cord right here.
Please do not yell directly into the microphone.
Okay.
You did that earlier, and I think my ears are bleeding.
All right.
All right.
So Ryan Limit is up first.
Before you go, Ryan, Shannon and I are going to make predictions.
This is Billy's event.
Billy wants it more than anyone's ever wanted anything.
Is there any way, Ryan,
and steals the Hamday Crown.
I believe in Ryan.
I think this is right up Ryan's alley.
I feel like he has called a hog or two, probably in Otwell, Indiana back in the days.
So I think this is going to be Ryan's to take right here.
Let's see what you got.
Ryan, you have the floor.
All right, this is what I used to call on the farm down in Otwell, Indiana.
See?
Oh, that's going to be tough to be.
That's how you called the hogs.
I think we should just give them the trophy right now.
No, no, you know.
This is Billy's event.
I forgot to tell the crowd.
When they're both done, we're going to do a little.
be louder for each one. So you can still cheer when they do it, but we'll have a final vote.
Billy, we got to get moving. You're up next.
Go on, put your hog in there, boy.
Yay!
Sweet!
John? John Calipari? John? Come on, John. Come here, John, come here.
I haven't seen him.
Oh, wow. God, I haven't seen them there at the end. Those are both very good.
Those are very good. Shannon and I are definitely not doing it now after those two.
All right, crowd. You're the ones deciding.
by show of noise.
Get loud.
Did you prefer Ryan Lemons, hog call?
Oh, man.
I'm worried.
But it's Billy.
He's been thinking about this for 365 days.
He can't lose in Marion County.
Let me hear who liked Billy better.
I think Ryan won.
Give the trophy to Ryan.
Ryan is the Hogg College champion.
Oh, no, one more.
Ryan?
Ryan?
Billy.
Oh, it's close.
I think it's close.
Okay, Ryan Lemon.
Yeah.
Let me tell you, real quick.
