Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,

Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue with 42.
A rep.
My mama want you to wave at her.
Hey, Ms. Parker.

smoke, barbecue, 24 taps of Country Boy Brew.
You got some of them up here.
You got Shannon the Dude Brew, Hillbilly Hustle.
Shannon, what do you tell everybody about your beer?
People always ask me what it tastes like.
It's a brown L.
It's got hazelnut in it.
That's something you don't see very often in beer.
It's a hazelnut beer, but it's very delicious.
You can get it in Kroger stores very soon.
And then in Lexington on Winchester Road is their new pickleball facility.
You all played in it.
They have a lot of people out there going,
ding, ding, ding, ding.
I don't think it makes that noise.
Ding!
But I hear very popular, people love playing the pickleball.
It was a lot of fun.
Drew played for the first time just last week.
Oh, I had a great time.
I will pickleball again.
If I could go back and redo our night, though,
we just ran the gauntlet with pre-show listeners.
I think we played seven consecutive matches.
We did.
We had a little exhausted by the end of it,
but I would highly encourage everybody to go there.
You don't have to have a membership to be there either.
Don't have to have a membership, that's right.
Also, I'll stretch.
Just trust.
For those of you here, for those of you here, $14 lunch special, double cheeseburger, fries, and a beer, $14.
That's pretty good.
Well done by you, D.H. and all the guys here.
Let's go over a couple things before we get back to the phones.
Let's start with the college football decided yesterday, Ryan, the transfer portal for football will be now like basketball.
It will be one period of time in January.
You may remember before you had one right after the season, and then you had one right after spring practice.
They've basically gotten rid of the one after spring practice.
So you can transfer only in January.
So I think that's good.
That will make the rosters a little less crazy.
Here's the only problem, though.
Not necessarily a problem for us,
but for the teams that are playing in the playoff,
they're going to have to do their transfer portal while they're in the playoff.
And for the players in the playoff,
you're probably going to have some distractions
as guys will be in the playoff trying to decide
if they're going to go somewhere else while they're in the playoff.
I can't imagine coaches like that.
At the same time, a school calendar is when it is.
So you can't wait until February because school have already started in the other place.
But now there will be a three-week period in January where everyone goes wherever they go,
and that will be a wild time.
Yeah, you know, it came up during the playoffs last year where you heard the commentators talk about.
They felt like this guy was going into the transfer portal,
but yet he was still playing on the team that was still alive in the playoffs.
So I don't know an answer around that.
You got to do it before the semester starts.
Well, there's no good time because you can't wait until after the playoffs.
Schools already started everywhere.
And if you wait until April, you're going to make people be in a school that they're leaving.
So, Drew, I don't really know what else you can do, to be honest.
Yeah, there's teams with several disadvantages in college football right now.
If the teams in the playoff have a little bit of a disadvantage moving forward,
we'll be okay.
They're having a good year.
It's like when you're in the pros, you get the last draft pick because you made it farther.
It's just you're in the playoffs.
Sorry, you got a little bit more to do.
Maybe that will encourage players who are actually on a playoff team to stay there.
I would think that that would have a lot to do with your happiness.
Maybe.
Maybe.
If you're on a team that contends for the championship, maybe you'd be more likely to stay.
I think the bigger thing for people to watch, this is something,
we won't know the effect of this until about one year from now.
But I'm getting the sense that, like, a system that this past year was insanely pro player.
They made a lot of, like the guys playing right now this year got the best deal in the history of sports.
If you are a basketball or football player this year, you got double the money for the reasons we've talked about.
You had a system that really had no limits on transfers.
And it was wild.
I'll grant you.
By the way, probably hurt us a little bit in football.
Probably helped us a little bit in basketball because we probably spent more than anybody else.
I think the thing to watch is the momentum is shifting to, I think, the system that's going to end up in play.
place is going to be not as much pro-school as it was before, but pretty pro-school.
A couple things is going to be this portal, just being a couple weeks.
Another thing is what we talked about yesterday, how many of these NIL deals are getting
struck down?
These deals are getting struck down, which is saying, like, they're doing strict scrutiny,
and then this is the one I think is the biggest.
I didn't realize right now the bill that's before Congress, which between, which I don't think will pass, but it could, you never know.
But the bill that's before Congress right now, it would give the NCAA an antitrust exception.
Now, why would that matter?
It would mean that whatever the NCAA rules put forward, they couldn't even be challenged in court.
Now, that's pretty crazy.
sport that has that is baseball.
If you give the NCAA to where an NCAA rule is not even challengeable in court,
then all of a sudden you have a system where the NCAA becomes like judge, jury,
and execution.
And we've seen over the years the NCAA makes decisions that are very frustrating.
And the bill that right now that has been written by, I think, Tommy Tupperville,
gives the NCAA an antitrust exemption.
If that passes, it will be able to be able to.
massive loss for the players. Now, I don't think it's going to pass, but it is something to watch.
It's the only bill currently before Congress, and Trump has endorsed that bill, so we'll see what
happens. So I would say the players now should thank their lucky stars. They were here the right
year. Yeah, you said it was so pro player for all this time. There had to be some checks and balances
put in place somewhere, right? Yeah, but you know, it doesn't mean you swing the exact opposite way
to where you don't eat. You can't even challenge anything in court. Like, that's crazy.
to me. That's crazy. There's got to be in the middle somewhere. Yeah, exactly. But
fluctuating all the way back the other way, to me doesn't make sense. UK Nebraska, ESPN announced
the UK Nebraska volleyball game last week was the most watched volleyball game in the history of the
sport. There's never been a college volleyball game in a regular season, more watched. One point two
million people, just to give you an example, the amount of people that watched that was more than every
football game except seven in week one.
Only seven games had more people watch them than the UK Nebraska volleyball game.
It was a game we lost, but, Ryan, it was a game that we led for two sets,
and we're right there in it with the best team in the country.
So really good stuff for UK volleyball.
Great exposure for UK volleyball, going toe to toe with the king of the king,
the best of the best, and college volleyball of Nebraska, Kentucky held their own,
had a chance to win the game.
So I think it was huge positive for Craig's going.
They got a big one tonight, though.
And they play.
So for people who are wondering what to do tonight, if you don't want to read those two articles I gave you,
UK plays Nebraska was number one, number two is Penn State.
UK plays them tonight on Fox.
This is on regular Fox.
So that record that was just set might get broken tonight, Drew, as UK Penn State play.
I mean, if you're Craig Skinner, at the end of tonight, you will have played in the two most watch volleyball games in the history of the sport, that's pretty good.
Yeah, I was one of the 1.2 million on Sunday, loved every second of it except the outcome.
They were even talking about when Kentucky was up 2-0.
If Kentucky were to win, Penn State would become number one, and then Kentucky would be playing number one.
They would have had a chance to beat them back to back one week.
And heck, if you could have, you know, swept that, you know, that's a dream.
But just the fact that you're playing top two teams within a week of each other to start the season, both nationally televised.
I know we don't track a lot of volleyball recruiting, but I can only imagine that's huge for the program even farther than what they've already done.
And on network TV share.
I mean, you know, now we have streaming a lot of things, but still, games on networks get the highest rating.
That's pretty good.
Coach Skinner has done a great job in his scheduling with that take-all take-on all-comers mentality,
and it's played well into their success.
Finally, Paul Feinbaum, Ryan, clearly tried to get Kentucky fans worked up.
I don't know if you saw this.
So SEC Nation was trying to decide this week whether they went to Ole Miss Kentucky
or they went to Kansas, Missouri.
A lot of people don't realize Kansas, Missouri,
that is a rivalry.
It goes back a long time.
They call it, I think, the border war or something like that.
Then they went in different conferences,
so they haven't always played.
Fine Bomb did a video where he looked in the camera and said,
everybody wanted to go to Ole Miss Kentucky,
but I told them Kansas, Missouri is better.
They're only going to Missouri cause of me.
He's clearly trying to win over the Missouri people,
but he also was trying to like kind of talk trash to Kentucky Old Miss.
Do you care?
I care a little bit because he was kind of on thin ice with me anyway,
the way they treated you on that show.
So now I'm like more so to push him away.
Paul Fein.
Who listens to Paul Feinbaum?
You do.
Boo!
I thought you did.
I listened to Shannon the dude on the radio that time frame.
Shannon's on the same time.
It used to not be the case.
What about you?
I'm surprised Paul went with the villain role that he did,
but I've been considering it as fact that SEC Nation would be here.
I know the border war is a long rivalry,
but it's the only SEC versus SEC game of the weekend.
It's the first SEC versus SEC game of the season.
I would have definitely picked this far as far as the SEC Network.
Kansas, Missouri?
I'm glad.
I wouldn't want them here anyway.
Hey, bring college game day.
That's the role.
Yeah, to say, to be honest with you, I think SEC Nation,
I like a lot of the people on it.
I think they're nice people, but as an entity, who cares?
I mean, I'm just saying, who cares?
Have any of you gone to watch SEC Nation?
Seriously, anybody, you've gone?
Is it fun?
What bet did you lose?
No.
You are hardcore fans.
You won a Grove Street back and you went to SEC Nation.
I just, to me, like, when the SEC Nation comes here,
they just sit in the parking lot.
They might have a couple hundred people.
Like, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't,
say this to be rude, we get more people at our bar than they get at SEC Nation. I don't,
it's, it's, what's true. I mean, game day is a different thing. Now, game day is an experience.
When game day comes like, the world is at your place, I don't, SEC Nation doesn't move the needle
for me at all, you know? The environment at KS Bar and Grill on a game day would be better than it.
Yeah, I just don't think it's, it's fine, but it doesn't matter to me. The only thing that's good
about it is when they're in your town, I agree if you go, there's not much C. They at least try to
feature your team more than they would
on that show. They'll have a guest.
I don't watch it, but that's at least
the argument of why Kentucky would be good to have
on it. Who's up next? Daniel is next.
Daniel, go ahead, Daniel.
Go ahead, Daniel.
All right, no Daniel. What's up next?
Next we got Dennis.
Take your time, Rick. Dennis, go ahead.
Hey, Matt. I'm a
stoop supporter.
but as right now, after 13 games, I have zero confidence in our offensive coordinator.
And I agree with what a lot that I've heard you say.
It's like he runs the football or he'll pass the football when in my opinion,
he ought to be running the football, and then he's running the football
when you think he needs to pass the football.
I just don't get this offensive coordinator.
Yeah, I have to say, for me, and I appreciate the call,
tomorrow for me is not a reflection on a personal level of Mark Stoops.
It's a reflection in some ways, though, of Bush Hamden.
I mean, we're about to go play against the best offense, one of the best offensive minds in college football.
Lane Kiffin is as good an offensive play caller as there is in college football.
Bush Hamden, I don't understand.
I wrote some of it off last year because I was like, well, the Brought Van de Griff thing's not working.
The offensive line's not good.
But then I don't know what they were doing Saturday.
a lot of those games. For me, I want to see, okay, Lane's the best. How does he stack up against him
one-on-one? They worked last year, but let's see what happens with this. And you know,
Stoops has made it pretty clear. They're going back to the ground and pounded running games.
Is that handcuffed hand in a little more? But they didn't. That's what I'm saying. Like,
he said that, and then we got to midfield twice with a chance to get a field goal to make it a two-possession
game, and they threw it six straight times for incomplete passes. So I don't, they can see.
say that, but then they don't even always execute that.
I give him a little bit of a pass on last year because he took the job in like February.
He had nothing to do with the roster, pretty unique circumstances.
Then you get to the season.
They could not score from the two-yard line.
We were like O for whatever at the goal line.
But I'll give you a little bit.
Train him was supposed to be that back.
He was hurt.
But this year, no excuses.
And I think he's 0-for-1 on passing the test through week one.
There's just a lot of the fans that on your post-game show felt like every call
where people are just asking what the hell is even doing out there?
You know, I take Brad White as a given.
If he's got the roster, we're going to be pretty good.
I sometimes wish he would blitz a little more,
but you know what?
That's a picky, that's a nitpicky thing.
But offense, Shannon, I think, has a lot to be a question.
You've got to get, I mean, I know it was only one game,
but you got to get something more out of Calzada
or it's going to be a long game on Saturday.
So do you buy it at all?
They only ran 18 different plays.
Do you buy any at all that they're?
Well, I mean, about it happened as to whether,
as to what it means.
Let's see how many plays they run this Saturday, right?
If we run only the same 18 plays, then I'm like, uh-oh.
If it's because they held out like you said they might have, then that might be different.
That's what I'm hopeful for, that they kept some plays in their back pocket to throw against him.
I'll tell you this.
If we only ran 18 plays and then we run the same 18 plays this game, we're going to get destroyed.
Because Lane Kiffin will have every play.
Like that's – he's – say whatever you want about him as a personality, et cetera.
He is smart, and smart people will be ready for big games.

And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves,
I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series
because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us everything he gives us
on the night-to-night basis on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson,
we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nass, but get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
He running up the court, licking his fingers why he got the ball.
Like, after you go through a training camp with that, I said, you figure it out real quick.
Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball.

Welcome back.
It is Kentucky Sports Radio.
859-8-8-8-8-9-2-287.
I don't know.
What is that?
People are making me miss my computer.
All right, let's do our other game picks quickly.
Iowa, Iowa State, Battle of Corn.
Iowa State is a two and a half point favorite.
All I needs, who's going to win?
In the Battle of Corn, who you got?
Iowa State on the road steals.
Iowa State's at home.
So you're definitely going to take them.
Yes.
No, no, no, no.
Iowa, on the road.
Iowa on the road, right?
So you're taking the Hawkins?
Yes.
All right, what do you got?
Going with the home team and the Cyclones.
Iowa State.
I'm going to take Iowa State at home.
Baylor SMU.
SMU is not beaten Baylor since 1986.
They've lost to them 17 straight times in this rivalry.
However, this game is at SMU,
and for the first times in 25 years, SMU is favored.
Wow.
Can they break the 40-year slump and beat Baylor in Fort Worth?
Not going to happen.
BYU rules.
BYU's not in the game.
It is SMU and Baylor.
It will be very difficult for Baylor to,
BYU to win the game.
Baylor. I was looking at Baylor. All right.
I was looking at P.Y.Y.U.
Right. Listen.
He's got Ryanitis today.
The Mormons are very influential
and they are able to do, but they cannot
win a game they're not playing it.
Still Baylor. All right, Baylor. Okay, what do you got?
Baylor has a little extra time to prepare for this
one. However,
no one wins 18 in a row in the series.
I'm going with USC.
You're taking S.M.
All right?
What do you got?
I'm going to go Baylor.
Why?
Because they're mad.
They got beat last week.
Go Baylor.
All right.
Now, remember, this is one of those things where normally, I would say, you're discounting the team that had a poor performance.
However, SMU has not won in 40 years.
They're winning this one.
This is the time they finally get it.
The big game at night, Oklahoma and Michigan.
Michigan coming to Oklahoma.
Oklahoma is a five-and-a-half-point favorite game day.
is there. They have a Heisman candidate
there for Oklahoma. Who you
got? Michigan wins.
Because? Well, because
Oklahoma's got a gambling quarterback.
That is true.
He did gamble, or at least they allegedly
gambled. He can be shaving points for his own team.
All right, who you got? I wish I knew
what side he was on. That would help.
I'll go Michigan with the upset.
Oklahoma's
this is when we really set their coach's
seat on fire. I think Oklahoma
SEC kind of announces themselves.
They're for real. I go Oklahoma.
It's going to be a great environment.
I mean, Oklahoma's been like looking forward to this game for 10 years.
I'm going to say Oklahoma wins.
They had a little bit of a disappointing year last year.
They bounced back.
Arizona State, who last year was in the playoff, is going across the country to start
Bill Mississippi, to play Mississippi State.
During practice, I don't know if you've seen this, all week, they have had graduate
assistants walking around, and they did the cowbells for four straight.
days the entire practice.
They just clang those stupid bells in their players' ear to get them ready.
Arizona State, excuse, Arizona State is a six and a half point favorite, Shannon in Startville.
Who you got?
It's the most obnoxious sound in college football, but I'm still going to go.
Mississippi State wins the game.
Pulls off the upset, all right?
You got a playoff team versus a team that lost the Toledo at home last year.
Arizona State goes in there and beats them.
I easily stay with the SEC, but not in this one.
I'm going Arizona State.
Mississippi State was bad.
last year and they almost lost it.
When week one, they struggled a little bit against Southern Miss.
I'm going to take Arizona State to win on the road.
And then your Vanderbilt Commodores go to Blacksburg, Virginia, to play at Virginia Tech
in the Battle of the V's.
Who you got?
Vandy beat them last year.
They're going to beat them this year again on the road.
Give me Vandy.
Are the Pavia brothers out of jail yet?
The Pavia brothers, I think.
If they're out of jail, Vandy wins.
If they're not there, Virginia Tech wins.
I'll say Vandy wins it.
They're there.
Hard to win in Blacksburg.
I'm going Virginia Tech.
Yeah, I'm going Virginia Tech, too.
I think Vandy is in for a come down this year after your big year last year.
People believe in them too much, I think.
They looked pretty good last week.
I know it was Charleston Southern, but they still won by like 50 points.
They can have all their Charleston girls they want in honor of Tyler.
They're going to lose in Blacksburg.
Who's next?
Parker is next.
Parker, go ahead.
Hey, Matt, how you doing?
Doing good.
Hey, so I'm going to tell you, tomorrow, Stoop's defense is going to win us the game.
He's going to have one of those pictures perfect games that he has probably once or twice a year.
We come out with the W-2-0 start.
Thank you.
All right.
I appreciate the call.
Let's make the case for the defense tomorrow.
I like, oh, yeah, I like it.
Make the case for the defense tomorrow.
They looked really good for 85% of the game against Toledo.
Do you think that's repeatable tomorrow?
Yeah, because like we talked about earlier this week, I throw that last touchdown out.
That last touchdown that Toledo got.
I'm just going to throw it out.
So they gave up one score the whole game and did a good job of keeping Toledo contained.
I think we've proven we got some good edge rushers.
I think a defensive line is much better.
I'm really still believing in our secondary.
So I like our defense against anybody in the SEC.
Yeah, Simmons had to play last year a little bit in some big games when Dart got hurt.
But overall, for the Simmons era, he's going on the road in the SEC for the first time.
You know, we worry about our own team, but Ole Miss still isn't completely sold on him after he threw two picks.
So if you can get him rattled, maybe that coal whistle gets him thrown off a little bit.
I think the defense is in for a good game.
He still has to prove himself.
I think that is the key.
Like I said earlier, they've got a young quarterback.
If they can get to him early, put some pressure on them, I think that that's the way you win.
A lot of a swine, myself included sometimes about Brad White's like zone, keep them in front of your scheme.
But it does seem, Drew, to really annoy Lane Kiffin.
He really hates that they can't go deep.
and you could see it in the game last year.
He gets impatient.
I don't think he likes the little five-yard dump, five-yard dump,
whereas like a Nick Sabin or a Kirby Smart will just take it and grind you down.
It always feels like to me Lane Kiffin still wants to force it,
and I think it actually is partially why Kentucky has some success against Ole Miss.
Yeah, and it can be annoying.
You know, you mentioned sometimes one more blitz.
Brad White could definitely be more aggressive,
but just over the course of what he's done here.
I mean, the defense has held up most years with that been,
don't break mentality.
You wait for the other team to make the mistake.
Give them four or five here and there.
It gets annoying when a team goes to the length of the field doing it.
But a guy like Lane Kiffin and annoys him.
He gets impatient.
It does annoy him, I think, over the course of a game.
Who's next?
Kent is next.
Kent, 30 seconds.
Go ahead.
Kent.
All right, that's okay.
Great call.
You know what?
Call it.
It's okay.
Kent's got other things to do.
859-2-80-27.
We are here at Country Boy.
You can come to this tap room and watch the cats.
play all fall. You can go to their places in Lexington as well. Country Boy beer. What's your
favorite country boy? I have people sometimes ask me which one to get. Cougar Bates been my go-toe for
years and years. I love Cougar Bake. Cougar Bight Lime. Oh, I'm sorry. Shannon the
Dude Brew is my go-to. I've been going to Shannon the dude brew for years.
You're so easily bought off. He's my boy. Do you have a different one? You've probably tried
to fall. I'm an IPA guy. Right now I'm drinking a hazy jumper. It's very good. Hazy jump.
Yeah. It's new. 859, 28, 28,000.
02287. We'll take a break. Be right back here at Country Boy. This is Kentucky Sports Radio.
Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio. An absolutely beautiful day here at Country Boy brewing in
Georgetown, one of our longest sponsors and a great member of the Central Kentucky community. Country
Boy got 24 different beers, and it is such an awesome day to have all the fans here. One of my
favorite days of the year. I was just telling somebody yesterday, I love this show because these
are some of our best fans and they come and they enjoy it and they're they pay attention and I always
I always uh always love coming out here when the show is over Ryan and I are joining Mario and my
friend tall and we are going Shannon to the Reds batting practice today oh nice yes we get to go on
the field and I'm going to tell Matt McLean that he stinks and that he needs to be better
and then we're going to watch Ellie and all those guys right from the field I have on my Reds
shoes and I'm ready to rock.
I don't think they're going to let us.
I mean, they play the Mets.
They're probably done.
But, you know, if they were to sweep the Mets this weekend, in theory, they'd cut it to
two games.
So if they're going to have any chance, they got a sweep.
So this is a big series for them in there, letting us on the field.
Maybe you can bring them some luck.
I thought the Summer Revelli was over.
Yeah, it's over.
You just said there's still a chance.
I mean, if they were to sweep the Mets this weekend, there would still be a chance.
That's what they'd have to do.
But I'm still the point.
It's the one you want.
I'm still very much looking for.
forward to being out there. I've never gotten to see that up close. Watch the guys take hacks.
I know you've got to be excited. I think Tito will probably look over and see me standing there
and ask me to step in the cage and do a little hitting lesson for some of the guys.
Yeah, you think so? Yeah, I think so. But you got, I feel like this is the kind of thing you're
going to enjoy. This, I mean, you invited me to come. I got immediately excited just to be on
the field during batting practice. I mean, Shannon's been there when you're a baseball player,
batting practice is where all the camaraderie stuff happens, all the, you know, the moving and the
shaking. It's for a real game. I mean, this is like, not just,
And it's not even just a regular game.
It's a big game for them to be able to, like, I am, I think it's good.
I even brought a red jersey to wear.
Are you really?
I got a red jersey to put on.
Wow, that's pretty good.
I'm not big.
Don't tell my dad.
Well, I think you just did.
859-28027.
Somebody sent me this last night, and they specifically said they wanted Shannon the dude's opinion on.
All right, let's go.
Did you see what Michael Irvin said yesterday?
No, no, I did not.
Michael Irvin said that, you know, when he signed with the Cowboys, he got a million dollars as his signing bonus check.
That he made a copy of his million dollar check, and he would leave it on the nightstand in his house so that when he brought women home, they would casually see the million dollar check.
I love that flex.
And they would know how much he was worth and it would make them more into him.
That feels like to me a Shannon the dude approved move.
Is that correct?
You don't think I'll leave a four-pocket Shannon the dude through on my nightstand.
I got a beer named after me.
Well played.
Maybe the World Heavyweight Radio title on the other side.
Of course.
Are we saying, Drew, are we really saying, Drew, that women will like a guy more,
thinking that they're worth a lot of money?
I think that's probably the case.
You know, I used to do this move.
When I started working for KSR, I would leave my checkouts on my room.
wouldn't ask me for rent money it would work it worked occasionally so it had a different goal for it
yeah okay I would think though the house should kind of show you what he's worth well I think he had just
signed so maybe he didn't have quite the house that he did later in his career but it was like he
wanted to show hey there's there's a million dollars in the bank or at least there was pre-taxes you know
great power play yes who keeps the check on the nice sand though like maybe on a on the fridge behind a magnet
But like you take it up to your bedroom and put it on your nightstand?
That's where she's going to see it.
She's not going to the refrigerator.
That's true.
That's true.
Do you like that move?
I used to leave at least $3 on my nightstand when I used to bring ladies over.
That was just the tip, though.
I didn't say that.
I didn't say that.
It wasn't me.
I didn't.
It wasn't me.
You know, I knew.
I didn't say it.
Shannon and Drew have already made everybody laugh.
Let's just move on.
Why ask Ryan?
he's only going to make it worse, and then that's what happened.
859-280-2287.
Bill Belichick, I've enjoyed watching this whole shenanigans.
The New England Patriots requested that their scouts be able to come to practice.
That's what happens, like it happens all the time,
and Belichick said the Patriots were banned from North Carolina practice.
Other teams are allowed to come.
He bans the Patriots.
Is that petty and do you support it, Drew?
It's very normal to go to a college practice,
and you just see NFL logos all over the place.
When we had our, you know, we don't get to go to Minnie in Lexington,
but when we have our media day,
it's very normal to be next to a guy with the Bengals, the Titans,
you name it.
It's very common for them to go scout.
So for him to just cut out one of the 32 teams,
that is very petty.
But do you like it?
It's obviously Jordan told him not to let the Patriots.
She must not like the Patriots, and she made that decision for it.
Well, I bet it's partially that they forced him to result.
I mean, like, that's, but that is a level of pettiness, Shannon, that I feel like I could, I could see it.
You know, you lose a gig.
You just say, yeah, I could see it, and that would probably be me too if I were Bill O'Hellichick.
Yeah, I'm, I can, you're both digging it.
I could see Drew not doing it.
You would do this, right?
I would do it, too.
I absolutely would do it.
If they let me go and fired me, I don't want them around my people.
So, yeah, so how can you, so, like, it's not Jordan.
I mean, it might be Bill Belichick that just doesn't want them around.
I know it's not fair to his players, but they're, they're going to.
They can watch tape.
They're like, well, they're going to pick up in one practice they can't see during the game.
I was going to say that's one less NFL opportunity for your entire locker room.
That is not.
That is true.
That's kind of stinky for the players because they're losing a team.
That's a very good point.
That's selfish.
Who's next?
Harold is next.
Harold, go ahead, Harold.
Yeah, we're not doing great on the phones today, are we?
Are the phones working, Rick?
Are they?
Good, Rick.
Are we still getting this couple's first.
Yes.
They're working fine.
Are they?
Well, okay.
All right, 859-2-80-2-8-7.
We want to try somebody else?
Well, we got Bob.
All right.
You know I love Bob.
Go ahead, Bob.
Matt, you were talking about the Crypto King down there in Smithland.
My wife went down there to see where the Cumberland River goes in the Ohio.
And Smithland is a little town about like Jamestown.
But then we saw his house, and it's like five-car garage.
It's got a built-in car wash.
I mean, that guy's too much.
Anyway, you talked about earlier on one of your shows,
when you go to Africa, you're going to do a little swimmer thing.
Is it skin diving or scuba diving?
Now, skin diving is with a mask and snorkeling on my out of scuba with the air tank.
What are you going to do?
Yeah, it's not the one with the air tank.
I'm snorkeling.
I may have said scuba diving because I don't get in water, so I don't know the difference.
But I'm doing the one where you put the little tube and you float and you got the flippers on and that.
doing that thing.
Well, there you go.
Listen, have a good time.
If I don't talk to you before that, enjoy your eight beautiful women and one of them.
I appreciate the call.
Somebody, I got a piece of advice that they said to me that I need to wear compression socks
on the flight so that you don't, because it's 15 hours long.
So I bought compression socks.
And I guess I should have known this.
they come up to my knees.
Yeah.
So because I guess they come up to my knees, I'm going to have to, I don't want to be the guy
wearing shorts with socks up to his knees walking through the airport in New York.
Well, you're doing.
Actually, it looks good on you, sir.
He's right there.
Right in front row.
You know what?
Sir, let me apologize to you.
You know what?
That's a great look.
That looks great.
And I think making them black socks makes it work even better.
You wear it well.
And you got the Nike Swirs.
You know what?
I take it back.
Now I walk the streets of Manhattan.
Are those combat boots that you're wearing?
He looks like he's going on a South Africa.
Actually, though, yeah.
You actually look like I don't have any of the clothes you're supposed to have.
Like it said, the thing I got said wear safari pants.
What does that even mean?
Like, I don't even know.
Well, they said don't wear shorts.
because there's snakes and like briars and things.
Aren't that kind of like cargoes?
Cargos?
With a lot of pockets.
If you wear those, then you can wear your compression socks.
Nobody will see it.
No, no, I'm going to wear long pants.
But it said, like, wear cargo pants.
Like, that's just, or not, excuse me, they said safari pants.
Like, that's just something I have, Drew.
I don't know what that means.
I was going to go back to the flight.
15 hours, just pull your socks and shoes off.
Let those puppies breathe.
Is that unacceptable?
I mean, I don't know if I don't know if I want to sit next to a guy who's got their shoes and socks off.
Maybe I'm wrong.
I'm wrong.
I'm going to let the dogs out on that flight.
Yeah.
Well, it's a long time.
I mean, the flight takes off at 8 o'clock.
Think about this for a minute.
It takes off at 8 o'clock in New York.
When it lands, it's on Friday night.
When it lands, it will be 5 o'clock the next day in South Africa.
It'll be 11 a.m. on my body time, but it'll be 5 p.m.
So basically a day, Shannon is.
is going away. You'll be ready to host Kentucky Sports Radio Hour 2 when you get this.
Yeah. I'm not doing that. But I am that, we have to do, I have to do the NFL show from South Africa.
Oh, and his compression service. I'm only wearing my compression socks. Yeah. Well, at least it's radio.
Yeah. So, you're of the mind. Oh, no, he's taking a video component. That's right.
Hey, can you believe it's already been four months since cornbread launched there in fuse seltzers.
They are flying off the shelves. They sponsored our night last night at KSbar. People love them.
They are crisps, refreshing and delicious.
These guys drink them.
You love them, don't you, Ryan?
I really like them.
They're really tasty.
That's why you're always in that mood.
Go to cornbreadhemp.com and KSR listeners,
you can get 20% off your first order at cornbread hemp.com
or go get them at liquor bar.
For 20% off, KSR, it's cornbread hemp.
This is the good life.
When we come back, we'll give you our KSR parlay
and the return of Ryan Lemon's motivational speech.
That's next right here on Kentucky Sports Radio.
Last night, a blown call
changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending, opinions are
flying, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where SportsSlice comes in.
I'm Timbo. Every episode, we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the plays, the controversies,
and the stories behind the headlines. We go straight to the source, the athlete themselves,
their locker room stories, their reactions, the stuff nobody gets to hear. The laughs, the drama,
the triumphs, the moments that never make the highlight real. From viral moments to historic games,
from buzzer beaters to controversial calls,
we break it down,
give you context,
and ask the questions
everybody wants answered.

I'm talking.
Tripp Fontaine, Ryan Clark.
Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing.
And we're still chasing it.
And we don't know when we've done enough.
Because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and losses.
Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth.
Are you a good person because you're afraid?
Because that's two different intentions, bro.
Absolutely.
And that's two different levels of trust.
I want you to just really be a good person.

What's up, fam?
This Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm CJ Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defining the odds.
like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And then he has to give us every.
everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson,
we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nass would get that thing.
That man, hell get to flying.
He running up the court, licking his fingers why he got the ball.
Like, after you go through a training camp with that, IZah,
you figure it out real quick.
Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball.
So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
American soccer is about to explain.
The World Cup is coming.
Ramos sending on to Ernie Stewart the chip.
I'm Tab Ramos.
I'm Tom Boe.
On our podcast, Inside American Soccer, you'll get the real storylines.
I'm not worried about Policic.
I'm not worried about Balligan.
I'm not worried about McKinney.
My only concern is what happens in the back.
The biggest decisions.
If you're going to look at stats and numbers,
he has no shot at making this World Cup team.
And the truth about the U.S.
national team. It wouldn't be a huge surprise if our team ends up in the quarterfinals or potentially
a great run into the semifinals. The World Cup is almost here. Experience it all with us.
Listen, Inside American Soccer with Tom Bogart and Tabramos on the iHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts,
wherever you get your podcast. Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio here at Country Boy,
brewing. Thank you to all the folks here at Country Boy for everything. We appreciate it. 859-2-80-22.
Okay, so tomorrow, well, first of all, cover zero podcast.
One of the cooler moments for our NFL Cover Zero podcast was when yesterday, the NFL network,
I turned it on and at the bottom scroll it said NFL cover zero hosted by Kentucky Sports Radio's
Matt Jones and Drew Franklin.
Drew, that was kind of awesome.
I'm not going to lie to you to see that on the NFL.
I didn't know they were going to do that, so that was kind of neat.
Very cool.
I was actually having dinner with my parents and some family that was in.
I was kind of like, can we just casually change the channel over here real quick?
quick and kind of got to flex for the family.
It's now up to number three in sports podcast.
Thanks to you all.
Nice.
Very much.
If you haven't yet, please subscribe.
But also, listen, we've gotten some great feedback.
It's kind of, I mean, it's us, but it's also, you know, Drew and I've known each other so long.
We kind of know some things about each other, and there's just a, like, we're a little
more casual in that, and I've really enjoyed it.
So we were starting to get our fade-this energy, so.
Well, I've gotten a lot of feedback of people who say, I don't watch the NFL, but I,
I'm listening and following because of this, because of Fade this, this show, all that.
And those are the ones I appreciate the most.
I do.
I appreciate it, too.
And then Sunday night, you know, the Sunday night game is Bill's Ravens.
We have to record it after it.
So we're going to be at the studio with Mario and Billy.
Like, what, it'll be 11.
1130 at night, and we're going live there.
Eventually it'll be live where people can watch at the end.
But we'll probably do some social media video from it.
Are you excited to do our in the middle of the night podcast?
Just when we needed a little more work to do on the weekend, but that's fine.
It's the NFL.
I'll watch football all day anyway.
Now I just have to drive downtown for a couple hours to meet you all at the end of the night.
So the bar opens tomorrow, 11 a.m.
Our show starts at 1130 to 1.30 on all the affiliates.
Please listen.
If you come in, we're bringing in extra places to cook, so hopefully everything will go great.
And then after the game, obviously we will be open as well.
If you're not going to the game, please come watch it there.
but we will be there 11.30 to 130.
Adam Luckett is going to again join us in hour two
to provide actual information to get you ready for the game.
And I'm looking forward tomorrow to being there, Ryan.
I expect a lot of fans.
Old Miss, listen to that.
The Old Miss, the Grove, whatever thing, offered to,
they wanted to have like an event there from 11 to 1.
We're kind of asking, can we have the bar?
And I said, no, Ryan, no.
No offense to you.
But we have to have Kentucky fans in there before the game, and that's what we decided.
Kentucky, they need this fan base to be there, be loud and be proud.
I mean, they've got a chance to this huge win tomorrow.
They need your help.
Yeah.
So if that guy with the $150,000 wants to come by, he's more than a hard to turn down.
He was going to be a nice little chunk of change from the Grove Collective,
but I was like, you know what?
I don't think our fan base would appreciate it.
All right, Draft Kings.
Bet five win $300.
It is time for our Draft Kings Parlay.
Go to draftkings.
com.
This will be on the front page.
We won week one.
So you would have won eight to one if you got it in week one.
So, Shannon, what's it going to be this week?
You tell me the first leg.
Yep, last week.
I was the last leg that sealed the deal.
I'm going to do it again this week.
We're going to go a late game with San Diego State, Washington State.
Washington State is a one and a half-a-half-point favorite.
Give me Washington State and one and a half.
Love it.
I actually love that pick.
I like it a lot.
So Washington State, that game doesn't start until 10-15.
10-15.
So we won't know until 2 in the morning whether or not the KSR Parlay hit.
I also like it that way Shannon doesn't last, so if we lose early, he doesn't get blamed.
That's why I know how Shannon's mind works.
I'm sorry, Washington State minus one and a half.
What about you, Drew?
I have a night game, a little before his.
I feel good about this one because it's a stadium I've been to.
I've already scouted this out, even though it was like 15 years ago.
We're going to East Lansing.
Michigan State is going to beat Boston College at home.
Michigan State had a close directional game last weekend.
There's a bivant overreaction.
They're fine.
Boston College beat up on some scrub.
Are you taking money line?
Just money line at home.
They're a four-point favorite, but just win.
Just win.
Michigan State at home.
Michigan State money line.
You're taking the spread with Washington State.
All right, what about you?
West Virginia on the road at Ohio.
I like West Virginia.
Just money-line.
West Virginia pick over Ohio.
Just money line.
Money line.
Yeah, this is crazy.
I saw that.
West Virginia is playing at Ohio, which is weird in and of itself.
But they're only a three-and-a-half-point favorite,
which is like it doesn't seem like much.
I mean, if you know where Ohio's campus is,
I don't feel like it's that far from West Virginia.
I can see West Virginia having more fans.
So we got West Virginia and Michigan State Money Line, Washington State against the spread.
I'm going to finish it up.
I'll actually be the first game to play.
Illinois is at Duke.
And Illinois is only a two-and-half-point favorite.
I've been to many games Duke football.
No one goes.
Illinois is ranked 11th in the country.
They're going to have as many fans there as Duke, if not more.
I will take Illinois to go on the road and win two and.
and a half. I'll even take it against the spread.
So Illinois minus two and a half,
Washington State, minus two and a half,
West Virginia and Michigan State.
The week, another stadium we've scouted out.
We did KSR there one time. We did. That's exactly
right. All right. Kentucky, Mark Stoops.
Let's, uh, you all come on down here.
Kentucky and Mark Stoops. Kentucky is one
and a, uh, one and oh. So is
old miss. This is a massive
game for both teams.
Cats come in.
Needing it. Lost eight straight SEC home
opener. Shannon, give me, uh, tell me
what the score is going to be and who the MVP is.
I'm going to say Kentucky shocks the world.
Wins this game tomorrow.
It's going to be 21-20, and I'm going to go with Dowdell.
Look at this guy.
That's my MVP.
I wish I had known that.
I think Kentucky's going to play really well.
I can't pick them to win just because I think there's too much on the other side.
I'm sorry.
I've got to have some credibility here.
I'm going to say Kentucky, I would say Ole Miss 30, Kentucky 21.
and I'm going to take as our MVP, I do think we'll,
I'll take the other running back, McGowan.
What about you?
I'm going to join Matt.
I'm sorry.
My optimism is on the back end of the schedule.
Stick with me for November.
We're going to win a lot of games then,
but right now I have Ole Miss winning.
It'll be close.
They'll pull away in the end to win 2717.
My MVP will be on the Kentucky side.
Zach Calzada will at least take a step forward
and put away a few of the concerns.
Kentucky will give them a game but won't win.
After many years of epic Ryan Lemon performances, we retired temporarily the motivational speech two years ago.
However, since that moment, Kentucky hasn't done as great.
Ryan Lemon, it's time to bring it back.
Let's go.
Gentlemen, take a knee.
You guys are all full yourself.
One and O undefeated.
Whoopty freaking do!
Who'd you beat?
You beat Toledo.
Toledo.
Ladi freaking die.
Now who's in that other locker room?
Lane Kiffin.
I hate Lane Kiffin.
I don't like the way he talks.
I don't like the way he coaches.
I don't like the way he looks.
He looks like he just smelled a fart.
Don't smell farts.
Don't smell farts.
This is why we retired.
Lane Kiffin's the guy that in high school.
He'd go to the dance and stick a roll of socks down his pants.
No stuff socks.
No stuff socks.
45 seconds.
We won this game last year, didn't we?
We did win this game.
I'm sick and tired of people saying it was a fluke.
I'm sick and tired people say we can't win an SEC home game.
I'm sick and tired of those clowns at KSR,
so we're not going to win more four or five games.
I'm sick and tired.
I'm motivated and I got a whole lot of money.
Hold on.
He has motivated, pointed on his chest.
Look at that.
They've lifted him up.
Harry back at all, Shannon.
Kentucky picked by Ryan to win.
We will see you all later here live.
This has been a country boy.
We'll see tomorrow morning.
This is Kentucky Sports Radio.
Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy,
not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest,
SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

Last night, a blown call changed a game.
This morning, the internet lost its mind, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened.
That's where Sports Slice comes in.
I'm Timbo, and every episode, we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the biggest moments in sports and giving you the real story behind the headline.
And we're going straight to the source, the athletes themselves, their locker room stories, their reactions in the moment,
and the stuff nobody gets to hear.
Listen to SportsSlic on the IHeart Radio app,
Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.

What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm C.J. Toledano.
It's our favorite time of the year
on our podcast point game, the playoffs.
We're digging into the biggest surprises of the season,
and I'm looking back on some of my greatest playoff moments.
If we didn't talk ever again, I was crying.
You just understood.
That's how personal it got.
Wow.
Then after that game seven,
Mark keep coming till.
He's like, you know, I love you, dog.
You know, it's all love.
This was just playoffs.
This was just basketball.

What's up, guys?
This is Clivert Taylor the Fourth.
And on my podcast, The Cliverts Show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff.
Like being an internet famous referee.
We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me.
He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Quarterback on office blue with 42.
Hey, Rhett, my mama want you to weigh better.
What?
Hey, Miss Parker.
