Starting point is 00:00:00 Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter.

This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me.
Starting point is 00:01:19 He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Time out. Quarterback on office blue 42. A rep, my mama want you to wave at her. What? Where's she at? Hey, Miss Parker.

Welcome back out number two, Kentucky Sports Radio, 859-280-2287. The text machine is 772-754 here at cornbread hemp, hemp field here in Lebanon, 60 acres of hemp, which is beautiful, smells nice. They will harvest this, I guess, in September 20th. A lot of the folks who do the work were here just a little while ago. You got the seltzers over there.
Starting point is 00:03:38 People love the seltzers, and you guys love the seltzers. I have some at my house, and now I am saying to you, got to keep it legal for jobs in Kentucky, and also to help me sleep. Mitch, if I have hard time sleeping again, it's on you. I'm going to come to your house and make you read me a lullaby before I go to sleep. And say, Mitch, please. Mitch, please. Please let me get some sleep. Please let me get some sleep with the full spectrum, flower-only hemp CD, CBD.
Starting point is 00:04:08 859-28027. One person says, Matt, your opinion on new coaches isn't very good. For basketball, you swar up and down, it would be the Baylor coach. And we saw how, no, excuse me, we seen how that worked out. Just to make sure I have the grammar that you wrote it. We seen how it worked out. Well, I was right. right, we did offer the Baylor coach.
Starting point is 00:04:27 He turned it down, but who got the offer? The Baylor coach. That was it. The thing that surprised, I, the surprising part to me was, we knew they were going to go after, we knew they were going to go after Hurley, or excuse me, Hurley and Drew. They did. They didn't get either one of them. I thought the next two candidates would be Oates and Pearl, which I think they were. What we didn't know is that the university president and trustees,
Starting point is 00:04:55 said no to Oates and Pearl. I think if it had been up to Mitch, he would have offered oats. I think Oates would have ended up not taking it for some personal reasons. So I think the next coach would have probably been Bruce Pearl. But then the university sort of put a veto on that, considering he now he's trying to figure out if he runs for Senate, and you want to talk about, you know, people think I don't stick to sports. If Bruce Pearl had been to coach here, I don't know if people follow him right now.
Starting point is 00:05:23 Yeah. Like he's more political than I've ever seen a coach B in terms of, and he's thinking about running for Senate. So I don't know how that would have ended up working out. But then Pope ended up being the next choice. I think it ended up working out for the best. But it was, I mean, it's certainly fair to say we had gotten down to fifth, sixth, seventh choice by the time we got the hire. Yeah, I made a list on the website when they were searching it. I had Pope ranked 10th.
Starting point is 00:05:46 I don't run away from that. I even compared it to ordering chicken tenders at a steakhouse when they hired him. I think, as we've said many times, the whole fan. base needed a little sleep to get behind it. But this is what is in hindsight. We all look like a bunch of idiots because it was a great first year. And I had a blast watching every minute of it. I mean, we got turned down a lot. Let's be real. I mean, the top tier was was Hurley, Drew, and Donovan, and they got nose from all of them. And then the next tier was probably six coaches of which Mark Pope was one. And the university scrapped four of them. And they were basically left with Mark
Starting point is 00:06:19 Mark Pope and Shockus Mart. And thank goodness they took Mark Pope. But that was kind of, you know, the list kind of opened up there for him. You know, Mark Pope was the right coach at the right time. I agree. If we're going to be honest, John Caliperi was the right coach at the right time. I agree. That relationship kind of soured and we ended up having an ugly breakup. Chip, maybe just me, but I kind of feel like that's where we're headed for football.
Starting point is 00:06:40 I feel like this is going to be having an ugly breakup, and I don't, I'm not ready for it. One of these days, there'll be a post-game show where if things don't improve, Shannon, I'll do the parallels. Yeah. Because there are a lot of parallels. But my hope is that we turn it around. Yeah. My hope is that the way I felt like January of cows last year when we were starting to roll and Reeves was playing well and Shepard and Dillingham were coming on.
Starting point is 00:07:01 I was like, oh, wait a minute, we might turn this around. That's what I hope ends up happening here. I want to play you something, Drew. I'd love to hear it. Arch Manning, you know, he was all preseason everything has struggled a little bit. Some people have said that they think he might be injured. And as the reason they've said that, they've said, is throwing motion normally used to throw like this over the top. Now he's going on the side a little bit.
Starting point is 00:07:28 So they're wondering if his shoulders hurt. And then they also talk about how after some passes, he has grimaces on his face. Like you're in pain. Like, ugh, that hurts. And so there have been some people speculating with those grimaces on his face, he must be in pain. So they asked Steve Sarkeesian at his press conference yesterday, hey, is it possible arched it's hurt? We've been seeing his facial expressions. and here was Sarkesian's odd answer. Go ahead.
Starting point is 00:07:54 Arch Manning seemed to be having some throwing pains by the fourth quarter. According to who? Arch. Arch said that to you? No. Oh, according to who? It just looked like he was. He doesn't have any. Is there an explanation to why he was, it looked like that?
Starting point is 00:08:09 I don't know. I've never filmed any of you guys when you're using the bathroom, so I don't know what faces you make when you're doing that. All right, so I don't know what that means exactly. I've never filmed you while you're using the bathroom, so I don't know what faces you make. Odd analogy. I don't know what that has to do with arch grimacing when he throws.
Starting point is 00:08:33 I don't know what going to the bathroom and throwing a football is like. Shannon? I'm reaching here, but is it maybe like the strain face? Because if you're... No, that's clearly what he means. Yeah, like what your face looks like when you strain? But I would say, again, I'm sorry. to the women here, I'm apologizing before I do this to the two of you.
Starting point is 00:08:54 And I'm sorry, but we just, I just want to explain. There might be times when you use the bathroom that you are straining. Yep. But then that would mean Arch is straining too. So I don't understand what he meant, Drew. Do you? I took it as Arch literally has to go to the bathroom when he's throwing the ball and his hold of it in. That was the correlation I made.
Starting point is 00:09:14 That wasn't what I'm alluding to. I'm not going to tell you Arch really had to use the bathroom on those throws. But I don't look at your face when you have to go, so let's not judge Archer's face when he has to go. All right. What about you? How did you read it? You sure you want me to answer?
Starting point is 00:09:28 No, I don't. No. I'm not 2 a.A.O. For people who don't know, we had it a conversation on Friday. Me and Drew, we had what we would call a bodily function intervention with Ryan. We all sat in a room when he walked in. It wasn't Drew. It was me and Mario.
Starting point is 00:09:44 It was on the way the Reds game. We were like, you know what? Less ref. Because Mario knows we need more consistency. He's been saying it since Seattle. He's been saying it since Seattle. So we were like, we just need less of that. So you're right.
Starting point is 00:09:58 This isn't a good topic. True. I have a word I can't say for a month. We need more fiber. Yes. Poor arched that two weeks ago, he's the greatest thing to ever hold the football. Two weeks later, this is the discussion around him. What a fall for number one.
Starting point is 00:10:11 We didn't get to talk about it was last Friday, so it's been a while, but we didn't get to talk, Shannon, about the Phillies woman. Oh, the Phillies, Karen. The Karen Ball Snatcher, they're calling her. They're calling her Karen Ball Snatcher? Yes, that's her name. I love that name. Karen Ball Snatcher is a good name, although my mom is very angry that Karen has become a name that people don't like.
Starting point is 00:10:32 So for people who didn't see, a dad sees a home run or a foul ball. He runs toward it, which makes him go into where this woman is standing. There's a little like, go for it. He gets the ball. the woman doesn't. He runs back to his son, it looks like, and he's like, here's son, I got you a ball. And the son's like, yay. And the crowd's like, yay.
Starting point is 00:10:57 And the woman is mad because he ran all the way over there and comes and is yelling at her. And he's yelling at the father. Yes. Like, you took my ball. Bra, bra, bra, bra, bra, bra, bra, bra, and finally the dad is like a scaredy cat. Yeah, yeah. And he takes the ball from his son and hands it back to the mom or hands it back to the woman and the woman walks away. People on TV are criticizing it. Turns out the Phillies see it.
Starting point is 00:11:25 They invite the kid down. They give him a bat and a ball and all as well. But the internet gets very mad at Karen Ball Snatcher. Shannon, clearly the woman was in the wrong. How wrong was she? Miss Ball Snatcher should have stayed right there where she was because the guy got the ball to give it to his kid. In what world do you think that it's okay as an adult to go up and try to take a ball from a kid at a baseball game? She had no rights to the ball. It was just there. Do you agree with the premise? Let's say the kid wasn't involved. The dude did run over and get it in front of her from like five or six seats over. She should have been quicker. Okay. Got to be quicker than that. You're okay with that. That's right. What about you? Completely okay. That's a 50-50 ball. That's
Starting point is 00:12:09 anybody's ball. What even her row is the row in front of her. How many rows does she get to claim? You bought one ticket. If it lands in your seat, sure, pick it up. No, it wasn't her row. That's a 50-50 ball. He hustled. He got it. And especially when he hugged his kid and gave him that little squeeze after he gave him the ball.
Starting point is 00:12:26 He should have known. All right, I'm backing off this. One more thing. His reaction when Karen grabbed his arm, he like, yeah, that was a bit much. I was like, this seems like a fake video. His reaction seemed fake if you saw that. He really sold the touch. Who acts like that when you get touched?
Starting point is 00:12:42 He sold like Rick Flair. He flopped. He flopped. I have to tell you, man, like there was a little bit of manliness that was lost in that moment. Okay, now, here's the thing. She's in the wrong. It's her fault.
Starting point is 00:12:56 Do you think she deserves to be piled on like she's being piled on on the Internet? Oh, you do? I think, yes. Wow. I mean, this is, okay, we can all agree she made a mistake in the moment. But do we give her no break at all? I think she gets like.
Starting point is 00:13:12 Man, this is a harsh world. have right now I think she gets like 24 hours then you let it go and what am I because it's to me it's not the same as the cheating couple at the cold play right this is like she made a mistake she kind of look like a Karen too though oh she had a Karen uniform she had the hey like the black streak in her hair and she just what did you think right you know we've all seen foul balls go on the stands and it's like bees to honey man you don't matter where you are you all go to it he ended up with the ball that just got the right bounce gave it to his kid That's the issue.
Starting point is 00:13:46 She took that ball away from a kid. I mean, she claimed, I saw an interview where she claimed she didn't see the kid. That's bull. Okay. Almost cussed right there. That is total bull. She saw, she saw exactly what was going on. She didn't have a kid there at the game.
Starting point is 00:14:01 She took the ball away from a little kid. You're calling her a childless cat lady. I am calling her Karen Ball Snatcher from hell. Wow. Yeah. Take that. Whoa. Hang on. Hang on.
Starting point is 00:14:16 That's a little much. If that was me, and she expected me to take that ball out a little 10-year-old Josiah's hand, we might have had been throwing coax on each other. I'd been so mad. You would have thrown coax on each other. That would make you in the wrong man. Yeah, then I think it would have flipped and you would have been the wrong guy. Stay away from your kid.
Starting point is 00:14:35 Get away from my kid. Well, she didn't touch the kid. I know, but she took, made dad take the ball away from the kid. She didn't. Dad caved quickly. Don't do it. Get away. I will say she's in the wrong, but dad caved too quick. What was dad doing, give caving so quick?
Starting point is 00:14:50 I don't know. I think he was scared of her. She came after him. I wouldn't have given another ball. No, I would never give her that ball. On the internet reaction, though, I kind of hate how people are like, let's find where they work. Like, meet the hell out of them, make fun of the haircut, have a filled day on the internet,
Starting point is 00:15:04 but people shouldn't lose their source of income. We agree on that. The people are like, what's her address? No, we don't need to do that. That's what I want to do. I don't like that. I don't like Get your jokes off.
Starting point is 00:15:15 Make jokes. Call her Karen Ball Snatcher, but then, like, don't try to ruin her life. It was a foul ball. Who's next? Jay is next.
Starting point is 00:15:23 Jay, go ahead, Jay. Is Starkesian been hanging out with Ryan? I mean, that's a total Ryan comment. That is a very Ryan thing to say. I really want to talk about this,
Starting point is 00:15:33 Jay, but I'm not able to. He's not allowed. Hey, guys, well, you know I'm out there every week. And shout out to section 22. I have a laundry list the complaints with the fan experience, but look, there's two things that have to change, and Shannon already hit on one of them.
Starting point is 00:15:48 Matt, we cannot play Milwaukee home, and I'm the biggest fan of that song. The only game we can play it is the Louisville game. But other fan bases are going to know it bothers us, and we're going to be dealing with it every week if we keep playing. That's true. That's true. That's a good point. Now that they know it gets to us, you're right.
Starting point is 00:16:05 The second thing, the fans go is the students go, and that's who they need to appeal. too. The university, and I could talk about this all day, does all these stupid things that don't keep the students engaged during games. And I'll tell you, just a simple one. They're more likely to show some little kid on the screen than reward those kids that stood in line all day to get on the Jumbo Tron. They have fraternity events and sorority organized events, and the attendance will be down this week just because of that. That's a great point. Great point. I appreciate to call it. I think that's true and rough, too. As the students go, the fans go a lot of the times. You got to make it fun for the students. And they make it, I mean, I have seen complaints on
Starting point is 00:16:51 TikTok. They make it hard for the students to even go sometimes, much less to have a good atmosphere. It goes as the students go. I totally agree with that. Jay is exactly right. If you've been slipping, if sleep has been slipping through your fingers, then how about cornbread hemp? from September 10th through September 17th. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't really really. that we are in possession of the thing, and we're still chasing it, and we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses.
Starting point is 00:19:17 Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth, or are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person.

Starting point is 00:21:50 I made a good bet last night on Draft Kings. You go to Draft Kings Bet 5. I get $200. Use my promo code KSR. It is Draft King's Sportsbook. The Crown is yours. So I did, my team's all. always let me down. So I made a really good bet last night. Reds were up three nothing against
Starting point is 00:22:07 the Padres in six inning. Bears were up 17-6. No, did you? Against the Vikings. I bet them both to lose in a money-line parlor. Because I knew they were going to break my heart. They both lost. I was able to feel a little bit better and ended up walking away with a decent little chunk of change to take with me in South Africa because I knew they were both going to lose. And then they both lost. The Red's in a heartbreaking fashion. The Bears in a slowly debilitating fashion, which is the way they like to do it. And, yeah, nice job. I was very excited.
Starting point is 00:22:40 I was very excited after the first drive for the Bears. Oh, yeah. It goes right down the field. Ben Johnson, 85 bears are there, and it looks like we ain't here to Feathers Ruffle. We're just here to do the Super Bowl shuffle, and then it just stunk after that. They got up. I thought there's no way they're going to lose this game when they're honoring the 85 bears, and somehow they found a way to just stink it up in the second half.
Starting point is 00:23:00 They were awful. And then the reds actually had a chance to get back in it last night. They could have cut it to three and then now they've lost and it's over. Previewing the Bears game yesterday I said, look out for Luther Burden, negative three yards receiving. Not only did he not go forward. He actually went three yards backwards. He had to work at the bank that day. He had to work at the bank.
Starting point is 00:23:17 That's Luther Deaton. Okay, same thing. But he had to work at the bank during the day. It was hard for him to go play that night. J.J. McCarthy looked good for the Vikings. I did. I like on Draft Kings now they've added this ghost leg. Have you used that yet?
Starting point is 00:23:29 No, that. Basically, let's say you pick five legs on a parley, and one of them doesn't hit, your parley still wins. So you could hit four out of five and still. But you win less money? No. Same amount. Same amount. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:41 It's the same amount. Yeah. You basically get one mulligan. So did we win? Well, if you did, ghost leg, you did. If you did ghost leg bonus, you have to hit the promo to turn it into a ghost. Some KSR listeners might have done that, though. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:55 Well, just from now on, ghost leg rinds. Yeah. There we go. Easy money. 859-280-20-287. Who's up next? John is next. John.
Starting point is 00:24:06 Go ahead, John. So I was wondering for the buyout, UK is now a reclass fighter than LFC. Could they use a business loan to be able to get that in March 6th? Well, yeah, they could. But, I mean, do you want to have a business loan for $37 million? I mean, I guess you could. Maybe they do. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:24:26 But yes. But the money is. do under Stoops' contract, which other people who know more about it to me say they have never seen a contract written like this. All the money is due six weeks after he would be dismissed. Yeah, I mean, ideally, you wouldn't want to have a loan for it, but like, what else you're going to do? Also, if Mitch Marnhart picks Brad White, I would personally poop on his car until he would tie. That is an uninspired pick I've ever heard in my life. I appreciate the call.
Starting point is 00:24:57 Wow. I would personally. He said that man said he would personally poop on it. We'll see his face. Yeah. I'm with you on that. Like, again, things might change. If everything collapses, then that's a different situation.
Starting point is 00:25:11 But if you told me right now, like if I were in Vegas and you were to say Vegas odds of who the next UK football coach is right now, I think I'd probably make Brad White the betting favorite with John Summerall's second. And a lot of people will not like that. And I may not either. but I'm just telling you what I think would be the case. Now, in eight weeks, it might look completely different, right? There might be a lot of things happen in these next eight weeks. But I'm just, would you agree with that?
Starting point is 00:25:40 I think so. But John Sumnerall plays Ole Miss this weekend. If he goes down and beats Ole Miss, does he then become the leading candidate? And if not in Kentucky, somebody's going to come after and get that guy. I think he can get too hot for Kentucky. That's what I were. I mean, he's on the Alabama betting odds right now. If he's like, if they go 12 and O and make the playoff,
Starting point is 00:25:59 Yeah, I mean, then it's like you've waited so long, you know, your husband got hot enough for somebody else. I mean, that's kind of what you're looking at. There could be Auburn Open, Florida Open. There could be several jobs. I mean, yeah, think about Florida. I mean, as we root for Florida. If we root for Florida and Alabama's failure, if those jobs come open, we are significantly less attractive than those if they do come open. Do you think that there's any chance that Gruden would end up at an SEC school?
Starting point is 00:26:28 Why would you want him? I mean, like. I mean, look, would Gruden be. But why? Because he was successful in the NFL. So was Belichick. I think he's a great coach. Well, so was Belichick.
Starting point is 00:26:39 I mean, I'm not, listen, if Kentucky had a chance to get Gruden and it's like Gruden or Brad White, sure, roll the dice. Right. But the idea that Gruden is this amazing. I mean, Belichick has showed you that, like, if you've never been in college, just to all of a sudden show up, I mean, it doesn't necessarily. I mean it's going to work. That might work. Yeah, but like... I would take my chances with Gruden, personally.
Starting point is 00:27:05 Here's what I would say. If you're Kentucky football and we finish three and nine, you might want to do it just for the excitement. You know, just to get fans, like, into it. The caller earlier won an offensive coach. Watch Will Stein, Oregon's offensive coordinator. He played at Louisville, but he's got Kentucky roots still, went to Trinity.
Starting point is 00:27:23 He would happily wear the blue if that were to come open. It's a very good point. And he is a hot name right now. That is a really good point. Who's next? Ford is next. Ford. Go ahead, Ford.
Starting point is 00:27:34 Hey, y'all. I was thinking about Chester's comment yesterday, and I went and looked it up in Power 4 games, power four one-score game since Will Ebb's the second year, we are three and eight with none of those wins coming at home. If you want to keep those people in the stand in the fourth quarter of a one-score game, just win. Give them, I mean, prove them otherwise. Mark Story yesterday did the numbers on that, and I appreciate the call.
Starting point is 00:28:02 One score SEC games from 2015 to 2021, Mark Stoops was 9 and 4, and since 2021, we're 3 in 8. And Story's point is that's the difference right there. Even if you know nothing else about what's going on, we used to win the one-score games, now we lose the one-score games. Do you think that's as good an explanation as any? Yeah, and it doesn't make sense. I mean, I always go back to that Georgia game. You had a chance to beat Georgia on your home field. You're fourth and short, and instead of going for it, you punt the football.
Starting point is 00:28:35 If somehow they had won that game, maybe things had totally turned and flipped around for this program. But they didn't, and that mindset has kind of carried on now since then. Yeah, and that mindset is also why it still doesn't feel like he has a philosophy. Because I think what he did against Ole Miss, even though I think going for it was right on those fourth quarter plays. I think he went for it, Drew, and didn't even want to go for it because he was like, If I don't go for it, everybody's going to criticize me. So he just went for it even though he doesn't want to go for it. And he keeps saying, I make gut decisions.
Starting point is 00:29:02 And that can be good. You need to rely on your gut. But if it's just always your gut, we're paying you a lot of money for what is essentially a gamble if you're just going with your gut. Don't have a true philosophy that you practice and stick with. Well, sometimes your gut may just have an infection when it comes to. Sometimes you get rot gut. Some people are gluten intolerant no matter what. And you might need to look at other things besides your gut because it's just not going to be able to process the information.
Starting point is 00:29:25 859-280-2287. Text machine, 772-7-4. We'll take a break. Be right back. KSR. Welcome back, TuckySports Radio. 859-2-80-2287 here at Cornbread Hemp with our good friends, Jim Hignan, Eric Zipperley. We talked a little bit about the fight going on in Washington,
Starting point is 00:29:45 and that's why they brought us here, but just on a personal level. There's a lot of people. I've become more libertarian as I've gotten older about, especially these kind of issues when it comes to, I mean, we're here for hemp, but I feel this way honestly about marijuana too, even though hemp's different. But like this stuff helps a lot of people. And the reality is Mitch McConnell is a big reason why the hemp industry in Kentucky grew. He really backed it early on the first 15 years.
Starting point is 00:30:17 It was, I think, one of the things he did that I thought really, you know, I wrote a book about all the things I thought Mitch didn't do for Kentucky. This was something he actually did do for Kentucky. And now because the bourbon industry, and I respect the bourbon industry, but because they're whining about it, because their sales have gone down for a variety of reasons. Now he's just completely flipping his position. And a lot of people in this state have started to rely on hemp farms. They've used their land for it. Obviously, Jim and his group here with cornbread hemp, but they're not the only company that does it in Kentucky.
Starting point is 00:30:47 To flip now is part of the most, the egregious nature of the way Mitch McConnell's done politics for 40 years. but the rest of the politicians in Kentucky have a chance to stop it. They both sides know that it needs to happen, so I hope they'll do it. And then there are people like me, for whom if it becomes illegal, that has a negative effect on their health. And so I hope that the folks in Washington, especially the ones from Kentucky that help lead this fight either way, will get to a good decision here in the next coming months because they're going to be deciding over the next couple of months. One person writes, Matt, going to South Africa, what did you decide on boots? Yeah, what did you decide on boots?
Starting point is 00:31:30 I had a lot of suggestions about boots. A lot of people suggested the same company, and it has like a store in New York where I'm going to be starting tonight, so I'm going to probably get boots there. I looked on the thing. It said don't wear two boots that are too heavy because you don't need them. Because you've got to run from those lions. That's exactly right. It's all anybody ever says to me, just don't be the slowest person in New Jersey. Although if I'm the slowest person with the 10 women I'm with, then I'm in trouble to begin with, because I have no other skills.
Starting point is 00:32:01 But I am looking forward to it. Packing, I'm already packed because I have to leave from here and go to the airport. I'm already packed and ready to go, and we'll see how it ends up going. I'll be on the show tomorrow and Thursday from New York. I will not be on Friday, and then I won't be on until October 3rd. I'll be back on a Friday for a remote, so I'll be gone three weeks of shows. These guys are going to have a host of guests, including Friday. What's the name of the volleyball player that's coming to?
Starting point is 00:32:27 Brooklyn Delay, the star of the U.K. volleyball team is going to be live with these guys, Brooklyn Delay, on Friday. But I'm going to be here tomorrow on Thursday, but I'm going to miss you guys. I won't see you until October. We will miss you also, but the public demands to know, what did you get your safari pants? I just said, did I not lead off? Oh, I said the shoes. Yeah. They're sitting at my house right now, apparently.
Starting point is 00:32:50 They got to leave. Apparently. Well, I'm hoping they are. I ordered them. They're supposed to get, they got, it says they got delivered this morning. So you're going home before you go to the airport just to pick up. Well, I'm flying out of Louisville, so I'm going to get my pants. You know, got to get your pants.
Starting point is 00:33:03 That's important. Then go to the airport and fly off to South Africa. There's no direct, so that's why I'm going to New York. Nothing not Louisville to Johannesburg. Got your safari hat and your knife? I do not have a knife. You need that. First of all, did they even let you take knives, right?
Starting point is 00:33:20 Check bag. Yeah. Take your machete. You can get what you get there. I don't own a knife, so that's a problem. Okay. Buy one off the street in South Africa. We'll find a good thing.
Starting point is 00:33:28 I'm sure. They encourage street purchases in South Africa of all kinds. But it should be fun. I'm looking forward to you to get lions. You got giraffes, rhinos. They call them the big five. There's like five things that you hope to see so that you get all the five unique. Can you name all of them, lions, rhinos, tigers?
Starting point is 00:33:49 It's lions, rhinos. tigers, giraffes, and something. I can't remember what the elephant. Hippopotamus. No, it's an elephant. So maybe it's six. Well, one of them I mention is not on there because he's right, elephant and a hippo.
Starting point is 00:34:01 And the one dude said, just stay away from the hyenas. That's, I guess, the bad one. You don't want to be around. You come out of night, yeah. Yeah, I'm going to stay away from everything. You don't think Matt's going to be running the hyenas. So my fellowship is the first six days, so I'll be in Cape Town like doing nerd stuff.
Starting point is 00:34:15 Then I go out, and that's when I start snorkeling and climbing the mountains. I can't wait to see it. Seeing the penguins. And then we go to Kruger, and I stay, like, on the reserve. Like, they give you, like, a hut, you know, because that's my kind of thing. Oh, yeah. And then. You're going to cook up some hut food?
Starting point is 00:34:35 Yeah, I've got a whole plan of how I'm going to use the earth to make my food. And then Johannesburg is the last couple days. Where's your biggest worry of all that? Like specific, like an animal or the climbing. We're going to talk about the three things I'm looking forward to, least the flight number one is the flight 15 hours in a plane i splurged and bought business class and it was that's why we're doing so many remotes it was expensive um but but 15 hours in a plane that's going to be brutal uh but then i'm i'm not nervous about you know everybody gets nervous about being in these
Starting point is 00:35:13 cities i'm not nervous about like you just you know you can't live life being scared of where you go right I am a little nervous about being on the reserve just because nature and I have never been won. You were built for this. And then I don't want to go into water. So I'm trying to figure out how do I get out of the snorkel? Yeah, how do I get a snorkel without water? How do I get out of the snorkeling without looking like a wimp?
Starting point is 00:35:37 You can land snorkel. And I think I'm going to accidentally schedule our NFL Cover Zero podcast during the snortle. Accidentally. Or you can come down with sickness. I think the NFL Cover Zero, unfortunately, Drew, just, I couldn't do it any other time except during the snorkeling, so I might have to apologize to them for that. I could kind of cover on my end while you snorkel.
Starting point is 00:35:56 We can get a snorkel review from the boat and do it all by phone. Yeah. But I do think, like, I'll probably call. Like, I'm not going off the grid like I did for Europe. So I might call the show on a day or two and just check in. And then obviously, Drew and I are going to have to do the NFL podcast from wherever I am. So it should be fun. I hope somebody is there to document these different activities that you're doing
Starting point is 00:36:17 because I'd like to see some video of you. you know, on the reserve, maybe climbing a mountain, rappelling down a mountain? I've repelled before. You got to climb it first, though, right? You walk up a trail and then you repel down. But like, listen, the scariest thing I've ever done is with Drew and I jumped out of a plane. So, I mean, if you can jump out of a plane, then you can go down a month.
Starting point is 00:36:42 I was there to hold your hand for that, though. I'm not going to be there to help you in South Africa. You got 10 ladies to hold your hand in South Africa. That's okay. Enough jimmas for one time. But I'm looking forward to it, and hopefully I'll come back with good stories. Who's next?
Starting point is 00:36:57 Adam is next. Adam, go ahead, Adam. Hey, what's up, guys? Previous callers pretty much took my points on game atmosphere. Crank up the music, let it be geared towards students. If you want to go read a book during the game, go to the library or a Reds game, you know? Exactly.
Starting point is 00:37:13 That was about to say, don't skip the Reds game. I enjoy that. Hey, it's interesting. You're moving on three. Daniel Hager actually just retweeted this. I wanted to get your opinion. What about doing away with AP ballots? Because, you know, there's the story this,
Starting point is 00:37:31 Haley Sawyer, she's a sports reporter for USC. You know, she puts out her ballot, and she has Florida moving up two spots and leaves South Florida unranked, who just beat them in the swamp. But she made a mistake. She made a mistake. She goes, well, right, but she goes on a video and says it probably doesn't matter in the head.
Starting point is 00:37:51 Well, then you shouldn't be doing it. We shouldn't have so many, you know, voters. I mean, look, my argument is this. The AP Top 25 poll has existed for 100 years. It really doesn't matter. I mean, she's right. Like, people were harassing that woman for no reason. Like, she made a mistake, okay?
Starting point is 00:38:10 I mean, look, I've done it before, and you point out which rider it was. And in hindsight, who cares? I mean, okay, who cares? It's a way to argue. I mean, like, we do on this show the top 10, whatever. People don't lose their minds. Well, sometimes they do, but they shouldn't lose their minds. It's just something to talk about. I think it might. I could understand the anger back when the AP poll decided Drew who the champion was. But now it's just for conversation. So if Haley Parker messed up, then if she messes up again, don't have her do it. But my guess, is she'll get it right next time and you move on right yeah no no you're totally right about not being angry and harassing her like don't you know that that's totally out of balance i was just talking about for conversation like do we even need the we don't need it but we do we need i mean do we need this show like there's a lot of things we don't need but we still have i appreciate to i actually i really need this show god bless this show i mean theoretically do we need this show but it's just i know one person to be mad if I came home without this show anymore.
Starting point is 00:39:17 I'll say one more thing about the polls. Breaking news, the coaches poll, the coaches don't actually vote. That's people underneath them. That's the SIDs. All these polls don't really matter. And in the AP, I feel like in basketball season, this happened like three times last season alone where a guy was like, oh, crap, I didn't even. I just filled it out.
Starting point is 00:39:35 It's just, it is what it is. And I can't act holier than now. There was a time I would be on the blog. I would find the person that didn't rank Kentucky high enough. And I'd be looking like, go, look at this idiot. but like as i got older i don't know that look at this idiot like it just it happens she won't do it again i can tell you that after clearly after that video she's not going to do it again who's next derrick is next derrick go ahead derrick hey hey yes go ahead yes go ahead i'm calling from the millsboro fire
Starting point is 00:40:06 department oh give a shout at middlesbrough fire department dria says hello but what's going on I got a suggestion for the football program for like a tradition to pump the crowd up. All right. So starts off a Grove Street and then the music dives down and there's a horse gate by Churchill down. And then the bell rings and the ba-b-da-ba-pap-pah-pah-pah-pah-pah. And then a horse with the wildcat on it with the Kentucky flag. Go down and does a laugh with the team behind them and all that. I love it.
Starting point is 00:40:49 We talked with a bit said the other day. Firemen make good suggestions. I appreciate the call. I love that, Ryan, don't you? You like the idea of a horse coming out? I mean, apparently Murray State does it so we can do it too. We'll steal off our younger brother. I love the idea.
Starting point is 00:41:02 They could probably get the rider to put the mascot suit on just for that reason, right around the field with the flag, let the guys run out, get everybody hyped and excited before kickoff. I think anything like that will help. Might as well try it. Might as well. What's the harm? I like this idea and several others.
Starting point is 00:41:16 I have zero faith with execution when we can't even play a song or check Twitter at the game. How in the world are we going to successfully pull that off? But I like the idea. And Shannon, maybe the horse gets scared, takes a dump in the middle of the field. That'll be funny. Like it'll be, you never know. Maybe something like something exciting will happen. Wildcat falls off the horse.
Starting point is 00:41:35 Yeah, it's okay. That's funny. Like there's a, you know, a lot of stuff. We don't want it to be a clown show. I mean, the football team has already looked like a clown show. Last year, that's great. We don't need that again. It looks like a clown show the first half last week.
Starting point is 00:41:47 Hey, teachers, if you are one or you know one, the Kentucky Skin Cancer Center wants to say thank you, and they're going to give you $50 off a glow-toe facial. How about that? If you're a teacher, you can get $50 off a facial to get you ready for back-to-school season. That's very cool. The spots go fast. Go to Kentucky Skin Cancer Center.com or 270842-99 and get your $50 off your glow-to-go. two facial from the Kentucky Skin Cancer Center.
Starting point is 00:42:16 There are five all across central and western Kentucky. That's very nice of them. Very nice. We had a facial. Oh, I love it. It was awesome. Very nice. We will take a break and come back for our final segment here in Lebanon.

Starting point is 00:46:12 Black Effect Podcast Network on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio. This is why Rick is, if Shannon can't do it, give me Rick on the ox cord so we get a little, what is this, Brian Sets or orchestra? No, the Mighty, Mighty Bostones. Cherry Pop and Daddy's one of those. Rick, you like the ska music? Is that your thing? I like all kinds of music. Like what, Rick, if you were on the ox cord at the, it's a K.
Starting point is 00:46:43 at the UK football game. What would be like three songs you'd use to get the crowd going? Oh, let's see. Probably a celebration by Cool on the gang. That's a celebration. There you go. We'll celebrate. What else would you do?
Starting point is 00:46:57 Probably won't get fooled again by the Who. Okay. I think that would be, I don't know that song. How does that go? I'll have to look it up for you because I'm a lousy singer. Okay. All right. And then what would be your third one?
Starting point is 00:47:09 Probably one that goes way back to the early 70s. That's what we're looking for. Three dog night and celebrate. Okay, all right. Big celebration. Celebrate. Ceregrite. That's it.
Starting point is 00:47:24 Not much to celebrate. So, Rick, anything since 1995? Oh, geez. I'd have to research that. Okay. Well, maybe we shouldn't. Do you know any NBA young boy? No.
Starting point is 00:47:38 He's more of it. He's always been a much. more of a WMBA young boy. There you know. 859-280-2287. Who's next? Terry is next. Terry, go ahead, Terry.
Starting point is 00:47:49 You got a segue right into my call. In terms of the atmosphere, I'm going to have a little different take. I don't have a problem with the atmosphere because I don't pay that much attention to it. I'm there for the game to strategize, to coach. I'm coaching on the sidelines. What plan am I going to call next? The only thing that disturbs me about the game experience is the guy with the neon sign with the 250 and the 350 in the 45 and the 4 minutes. The TV timeouts kill me.
Starting point is 00:48:21 But I will say to play along. I appreciate that. Hang on. I'll let you finish. I appreciate that, but you just have to recognize you're in the minority. Like, you've been a great caller for many years and you appreciate what we do on here. But when I like program KSR, and I hope you know what I mean by it. this. I can't program it for Terry. Like Terry would listen to a two-hour show where we talk about
Starting point is 00:48:42 the base defense we ran and how it needed to go to this and, you know, this receiver would be better than this one. But I would not be able to get a crowd of people to come to Lebanon. And if I, if I program for Terry, it's going to be really good for a handful of people, but it's not going to be the show it is. UK football can't program for Terry. It has to program for the regular person who's coming, who maybe isn't. as diehard a fan. I think you understand that. Yes, in terms of where you're asking Rick about the songs,
Starting point is 00:49:16 I have two for you back in that era that I'll put up against any rap song there is. Okay. Doobie Brothers, China Grove, and Blue Arster Colt, don't fear the Reaper. Yeah, no. I mean, again, like, I love you all, but this is like, you guys must be on the board of trustees making this decision. we've got to chances are some of the songs we need to play
Starting point is 00:49:39 Drew I haven't even heard of right that's like I know it's working if I don't know the song because that's the point I'm I'm old now I shouldn't know all these songs one of the better moments in the game last week was they went to a little boozy's catalog and I thought that got the crowd going I'm going to assume Terry and Rick
Starting point is 00:49:57 probably not a lot of little boozy that they would play but that was one of the better moments his dad boozy I liked but little boozy is not for me and so We were wiping down in that moment, but it got the crowd going. I need to wipe down after standing out in the sun. Who's next? Jake is next.
Starting point is 00:50:11 Jake, go ahead, Jake. Yes, Matthew. How are you doing this morning? I'm well, Jacob. All right. How do you feel about playing Tyler of Children during the football game? As long as you play. You got to play the right one.
Starting point is 00:50:29 Yeah, but after the game, the guys, Tom and Jeff were talking, and they come back from the break, and they're playing. how they're killeders and they didn't play it during the game yeah well i appreciate the call i'm for it play white house roads you just can't play like follow you to verge right like you got to play something that'll get the get the crowd amped up i feel like they would get up and play like universal sound or something like they got in your love it's exactly right who's next kentucky joe is next oh no all right fire us up joe speaking of getting me excited to go to south africa so kentucky joe go ahead You want me to do a song?
Starting point is 00:51:06 Hell yeah. Hang on. Hang on a song. Hang on just a second. I need to know the topic. I don't want the topic to be South Africa. If the topic is Kentucky is Kentucky football, I'll let you do what. Okay, I got to tell you all something in my heart.
Starting point is 00:51:28 I love cutter-bowley. He should start. I saw it bomb so well. I saw him last year when he did it. Throw it, so with cutter bowling now. Cudder bully is my quarterback, I'll tell. There you go, Joe. Perfect way to end it.
Starting point is 00:51:56 We're sitting, that's good, Joe. We're sitting here talking about music. Shannon, there it is. I'm ready to go watch a football game after that. That's where you run out and then Cutter Bowley appears dry. And that's how you get a team ready to play. Cutter Bowley's my quarterback. Okay, that's fine.
